00:01:26.080 of the confusions he's caused, some have considered LifeSite anti-Catholic.

00:02:06.420 However, he's also confused matters gravely, especially when he came to the United States

00:02:13.440 If you recall at the time of his visit, Kim Davis, a Kentucky County clerk, had been in
00:02:19.500 the news.
00:02:20.500 She, after a life of failed marriages, embraced Christ and stood for his truth.
00:02:27.840 She refused to allow her signature on marriage licenses for homosexual couples.
00:02:32.720 In fact, she was threatened with jail if she would not comply with the court order.
00:02:38.280 That court order, of course, rejected her right to conscientious objection.
00:02:42.400 But heroically holding to her true beliefs, she, a mother of four children, was jailed for

00:02:48.480 When she did meet with the Pope when he was here, Davis was advised that it was a private
00:02:53.940 meeting and not to be made public until after the Pope left the United States.
00:02:58.280 She was also forbidden to take photos of the meeting.
00:03:02.260 And after the Pope's departure, her lawyer told the media about the meeting and there
00:03:07.620 was much press interest.
00:03:08.900 In fact, initially, the Vatican refused to confirm that the meeting had even taken place.
00:03:14.680 And with Davis not able to furnish proof because she was forbidden to take photos and the Vatican,
00:03:20.800 of course, refused to release photos, the media began to suggest she was lying.
00:03:24.660 A couple of days later, when the Vatican finally did affirm that the meeting took place, things
00:03:30.580 actually got worse.
00:03:31.740 It was October 2nd, and then-Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi issued a statement
00:03:37.080 saying that a brief meeting did occur, but that it, quote, should not be considered a form
00:03:43.380 of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects, end quote.
00:03:49.480 Father Lombardi noted that the only real audience granted by the Pope at the nunciature was with
00:03:57.220 one of his former students and his family, end quote.
00:04:01.980 And who was that student and his family?
00:04:05.740 Well, the student was Yayo Grassi, an openly gay Argentinian man who was accompanied, yes,
00:04:11.560 by his mother and his sister, but also his male lover, Iwan Bagus.
00:04:16.480 At this meeting, not only were photos allowed, but also video.
00:04:21.440 And here, you can watch in this video, you can see Pope Francis greeting Yayo Grassi on
