Transcript

00:00:00.000 John, I need to say one more thing for you and a plug for you.
00:00:04.760 As you know, this is the first long-form interview, the first interview, really, that Lauren and Teresa have done.
00:00:11.080 And there's a long line of people that are going to interview them.
00:00:16.080 I just hung up with the Washington Post.
00:00:18.200 They're going to do something on Monday.
00:00:20.220 The CBS News affiliate is going to do a long interview with them.
00:00:23.580 But we wanted you to be first because I knew that you and your folks would give Teresa and Lauren the opportunity to tell the story as it really happened.
00:00:35.720 And if your viewers do see and hear other news broadcasts, which are surely going to happen, some of them that are already emerging are hostile, belligerent, and untrue.
00:00:48.740 So I thank you for the opportunity for Lauren and Teresa and for Missy and I to be a part of what we call a long-form interview.
00:00:58.760 It's like the good old days of Larry King, you know, or some of these guys that would talk.
00:01:02.800 They ask a question and let the people talk.
00:01:04.540 Thank you for that.
00:01:05.780 God bless you and what you guys do.
00:01:07.060 This is the John Henry Weston Show and probably one of the most important shows we've ever done.
00:01:11.480 We have with us today Lauren Handy, who is right at the center of one of the biggest stories on Earth today, particularly in the United States.
00:01:21.460 You've already heard the news from last week where you had arrests of nine people with the police showing up in SUVs, guns drawn, some at five o'clock in the morning, kicking down doors.
00:01:32.620 And it's over what? It's over a case from 2020 where nine pro-life activists did a rescue mission to save unborn babies in one of the most brutal clinics in America, right in D.C., where an abortionist does abortions just about right up to birth.
00:01:49.420 The controversy, though, is much bigger.
00:01:52.000 Check out this. This is from the media at the time.
00:01:55.220 We have Lauren Handy with us. Check this out and stay tuned.
00:01:58.840 D.C. police confirmed that the medical examiner collected five fetuses from inside the home of an anti-abortion protester.
00:02:11.200 Her name, Lauren Handy. Handy has just been indicted on a charge of invading and blocking access to a D.C. health clinic.
00:02:17.780 Now, WSA 9 broke this story.
00:02:19.160 We were outside the home. Remember this?
00:02:20.720 Yesterday on 6th Street Southeast when police were carrying out that raid, officers walked out carrying red biohazard bags and coolers.
00:02:29.320 That's never a good sight.
00:02:30.600 WSA 9's Bruce LeShan live there with more on some of the shocking revelations our team was able to uncover today.
00:02:36.140 Bruce, good evening.
00:02:39.440 Yeah, Adam, I'm telling you what, kind of a bizarre, gruesome house of horrors here in a crowded D.C. neighborhood.
00:02:46.540 D.C. police say they found those five fetuses right down here in this apartment, which is connected to that anti-abortion activist, Lauren Handy.
00:02:58.840 Let's begin, as we always do, with the sign of the cross.
00:03:17.680 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
00:03:22.880 At LifeSiteNews.com, we are so very privileged to give a chance for this first extended and exclusive interview with Lauren Handy and Teresa Bukovinek, who's helping out with this case.
00:03:37.540 Lauren, of course, is one of the ones charged in this case, one of the ones who is expecting this horrific trial of, you know, potentially 11 years in prison, three years supervised release, $350,000 in fines.
00:03:53.500 But this total insanity, I wanted to get Teresa Bukovinek, who is a longtime pro-life activist, right in the trenches, and who supports all these great folks.
00:04:05.520 Give us what's going on right now from the ground level.
00:04:08.860 And I'm going to ask you in a minute, too, to give us the backstory, which is totally fascinating.
00:04:12.640 Teresa, if you could.
00:04:14.100 Sure.
00:04:14.760 Thanks again for having me, John.
00:04:16.400 And on the 30th, was it, we received word that there were arrests being made by the FBI related to a rescue that Lauren and eight others participated in almost two years ago in Washington, D.C.
00:04:35.180 And we heard that there were some, that the police were coming into homes and arresting people, some at gunpoint.
00:04:43.560 And so we quickly rushed over to her house, we were expecting to contact the officer, and Lauren was prepared to turn herself in.
00:04:53.400 But as we arrived at her apartment, we stepped out of the car, and FBI agents stepped out of their cars, and immediately called out Lauren's name, and the arrest began.
00:05:04.280 Okay, so let's stop there.
00:05:05.840 We're going to look at a little bit of footage of some of that we have.
00:05:11.340 Keep moving back!
00:05:13.560 One for hands.
00:05:14.640 Stop!
00:05:15.180 Put your hands up!
00:05:17.080 Put your hands up!
00:05:18.940 Dude, put your hands up!
00:05:20.320 Hey, one for hands!
00:05:21.940 Get on your knees.
00:05:24.780 Come back, come back towards you.
00:05:26.500 Hands up, you!
00:05:27.460 Hands up in the back!
00:05:31.740 Just shoot me back to me.
00:05:33.040 Slide back.
00:05:34.600 Keep going back, keep going back.
00:05:38.300 Hey, behind your back.
00:05:43.560 Do one more out there for hands.
00:05:44.980 Do you want to stand up?
00:05:48.860 Do you?
00:05:49.120 I don't want to have your leg in front of me.
00:05:52.340 All right, stand up.
00:05:55.720 Turn around.
00:06:00.120 Walk back towards me.
00:06:02.600 Walk backwards towards me.
00:06:04.200 Come on.
00:06:04.540 Stop right there.
00:06:09.960 On your knees.
00:06:12.440 Hey, one more for hands.
00:06:15.060 Put your hands behind your back.
00:06:17.700 Put your hands behind your back.
00:06:18.600 Come back towards me.
00:06:19.860 Keep back.
00:06:20.520 Keep back.
00:06:21.220 Is there a reason for all this?
00:06:23.180 It don't work.
00:06:24.300 Uh-huh.
00:06:24.840 Not good.
00:06:25.200 What's your name, bud?
00:06:30.020 Three, man.
00:06:30.780 Really?
00:06:31.120 Three.
00:06:31.620 I'm three.
00:06:36.800 Yeah, I'll hold it down there.
00:06:38.460 Hmm?
00:06:40.020 Move up.
00:06:40.680 Back to back.
00:06:41.040 Closet.
00:06:41.920 Oh, hold up.
00:06:42.460 Hold up.
00:06:43.120 Yeah.
00:06:44.360 Can you knock that closet out, Scott?
00:06:46.240 Yeah, yeah.
00:06:46.420 I got you.
00:06:47.780 10-4.
00:06:48.580 Hold it down a lot.
00:06:50.980 Closet's clear.
00:06:52.580 Back to back.
00:06:53.440 Yeah.
00:06:54.400 Ready?
00:06:55.200 And that's incredible.
00:06:56.420 That is, you know, this is like a takedown.
00:06:59.220 This is in different parts of the country.
00:07:01.580 You know, people arrive with SUVs, guns drawn, break into homes, some of them at five in the
00:07:06.540 morning, go to places of work to arrest people.
00:07:09.220 This is unbelievable stuff.
00:07:11.260 Please tell us what comes from there, Teresa.
00:07:14.140 Well, after Lauren was taken into custody, we learned that all of the nine defendants have
00:07:21.000 been charged under the FACE Act.
00:07:23.880 This is an anti-life act that has been in existence since the 90s in order to address
00:07:32.400 all of the rescues and arrests that happened during the time and the height of Operation
00:07:38.460 Rescue.
00:07:38.960 During that time, there was over 75,000 arrests made.
00:07:43.240 And so this particular act came into existence to address that from a federal level.
00:07:50.340 And by the Clinton administration, if I'm not mistaken.
00:07:53.440 Correct.
00:07:54.200 Yes.
00:07:54.860 It's kind of fallen off over the years.
00:07:58.260 Very few people, to my knowledge, have been charged with FACE, if any, have been convicted.
00:08:04.600 But this is the first time that we've seen something like this in decades.
00:08:09.240 And it's very dramatic.
00:08:12.220 It's coming, of course, right before a decision might be made from the Supreme Court in the
00:08:18.480 Dobbs v.
00:08:18.900 Jackson case.
00:08:20.300 So it definitely looks a little desperate from the pro-abortion side, a desperate attempt
00:08:27.020 to further demonize pro-life work, pro-life people, and to demoralize those who are engaged
00:08:34.980 in life-affirming activism.
00:08:38.140 Well, absolutely so.
00:08:39.100 This is, as you said, from October of 2020.
00:08:42.260 So they're reaching back massively into the past to do this, and they come out in massive
00:08:47.500 force to make a show trial of this.
00:08:50.540 And it's coming, as you said, right before Roe v. Wade is going to be challenged in the
00:08:55.140 most major way, perhaps, since it was affected.
00:08:58.880 But there's something else here.
00:09:01.420 Describe for us, if you will, what is the presenting cause?
00:09:04.680 What was this rescue about?
00:09:06.060 What are they actually talking about?
00:09:07.320 Well, with this rescue in particular, these nine defendants gathered at the Washington
00:09:15.860 Surgery Center in Washington, D.C.
00:09:18.200 This is an abortion mill that is run by Cesare Santangelo.
00:09:25.240 He is a notorious late-term abortionist.
00:09:28.640 And this is one of the most notorious late-term clinics in the country.
00:09:32.220 There is no gestational limit on abortion in Washington, D.C.
00:09:36.240 And Santangelo basically advertises that he is willing to do abortions up until the moment
00:09:42.520 of birth.
00:09:43.940 And so these rescuers, they entered the clinic.
00:09:48.400 They offered life-affirming resources to the people inside and attempted to prevent others
00:09:55.320 from destroying the lives of our fellow human beings.
00:09:59.900 The name of the event was No One Dies Today.
00:10:03.740 And I believe that they were successful that day, back in October of 2020.
00:10:09.700 Now, if you can describe for us what that entails.
00:10:13.760 No one goes there with guns or anything like that.
00:10:17.080 What does it actually look like?
00:10:20.440 Well, I was not present on the scene that day.
00:10:23.260 But this was a traditional rescue.
00:10:27.280 It's called a lock and block.
00:10:29.420 And I think that that's one of the reasons that they are using this more traditional act
00:10:34.080 to try to prosecute these activists.
00:10:38.780 You know, people are saying that we're bringing back the 90s.
00:10:41.300 Well, it kind of feels that way.
00:10:43.040 These activists were bringing back the tactic of locking arms and blocking a center in order
00:10:48.100 to save lives, and they have been slapped with federal charges that haven't been really used
00:10:55.600 since the 90s.
00:10:57.120 Right.
00:10:57.580 And so this is non-violent.
00:10:59.960 They're locking arms to block access, therefore to save the lives.
00:11:04.500 And so we're talking about something that's not nefarious in any way, but they are doing,
00:11:10.100 yes, it's civil disobedience, but it's in order to save the lives of these babies.
00:11:13.920 Okay, take us from there.
00:11:17.920 Well, I also just want to add that, you know, this non-violent direct action is,
00:11:21.780 it's an essential way to try to move forward a social justice movement, that it is critical
00:11:29.660 that activists are willing to put their bodies in between the oppressors and the oppressed
00:11:35.280 in order to bring about justice for these victims.
00:11:39.280 And then you wanted me to go somewhere from there.
00:11:41.520 Sorry.
00:11:42.040 Yeah, absolutely.
00:11:42.640 Well, take us forward from there.
00:11:44.840 And in fact, before you do that, I wanted to read out something, something really incredible.
00:11:49.060 This was Will Goodman, one of the nine who was charged.
00:11:53.520 And facing arrest, he said something really incredible.
00:11:57.960 So these comments again, they're from Will Goodman.
00:12:00.100 Our Lord Jesus Christ says to all of us, be not afraid.
00:12:05.280 And when we're doing pro-life work, we need to keep in mind, especially in a culture of death,
00:12:09.600 that those who protect abortion are likely to come after us for our peaceful defense of life.
00:12:14.820 And we need to have a mentality that it's a win-win situation.
00:12:18.660 If the government doesn't arrest us or throw us in jail, it's a win because we can continue with our pro-life efforts.
00:12:24.480 We can conduct non-violent direct action and rescue missions and can continue with our work.
00:12:29.820 However, if they do persecute us, if we are unjustly arrested and thrown into jail or prison,
00:12:34.580 it's also a win because we can unite our small sufferings with that of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
00:12:40.300 And in union with him, we can pray for the conversion of sinners.
00:12:43.820 We can pray in reparation for sin, for the salvation of souls, and for the protection of life.
00:12:47.980 And so it's a win-win situation.
00:12:50.780 When we have the opportunity to suffer, it's not a defeat or a loss,
00:12:54.460 but rather it's a very powerful means by which we can help to transform our culture into a culture of life.
00:13:00.600 So the Lord says, be not afraid.
00:13:02.880 And so as Catholics, as pro-lifers, we must ask God for the gift of courage and fortitude
00:13:07.180 so that we can share the gift of the gospel of life fearlessly and joyfully to the greater glory of his name.
00:13:14.320 Amen.
00:13:14.560 I think that's just so beautiful.
00:13:18.840 So, so beautiful.
00:13:20.820 Lauren, do you want to give us your sentiments on hearing Will's testimony?
00:13:26.700 And how do you feel about this?
00:13:31.480 The rescue was one we haven't seen in years.
00:13:36.640 And it was so beautiful because it was a reflection of the body of Christ,
00:13:42.920 but it was also a reflection of the diversity of our movement as well.
00:13:48.040 We had people from all religious backgrounds, non-religious backgrounds, left, right,
00:13:56.360 and of all ideologies coming together.
00:14:01.160 But what, and like things that you would never think,
00:14:04.080 people who you would never think would come together.
00:14:06.720 But we were under the banner of non-violent direct action of saving a particular baby on a particular day
00:14:15.840 and letting the chips fall where they may.
00:14:18.700 And we know there's risks always involved when you're going up against state-sanctioned violence.
00:14:25.020 We have a state-funded, protected, and facilitated killing on a mass scale in America.
00:14:33.400 And it is a business.
00:14:35.180 It's the overlapping interests of business in the state.
00:14:39.160 And, of course, when you hit people's pockets, they're going to go back after you.
00:14:45.460 And we all knew that.
00:14:47.220 But we so strongly and passionately believed that if the pre-born are human,
00:14:55.140 then our actions needed to reflect that.
00:14:59.520 And often the government, the abortion industry,
00:15:04.340 they have that yardstick of suffering.
00:15:07.260 How much is a life worth?
00:15:08.980 How much are you willing to suffer?
00:15:10.760 How much are you willing to risk for that life?
00:15:14.300 Am I willing to risk 11 years, possibly 11 years,
00:15:18.280 so another person could spend their full 30,
00:15:21.360 not 30, but their full, you know, 70 years?
00:15:26.080 Am I willing to forfeit 11 so someone could spend 70?
00:15:30.580 So families could be spared from the pain and shockwaves of abortion violence.
00:15:35.360 And, of course, there's, like, the overwhelming fear of what's happening.
00:15:48.380 But we always have to remember who the true victims are.
00:15:53.500 And that are the children who are being aborted on a mass scale, mass violence, mass violence.
00:16:02.840 I have personally have helped over 700 families choose life outside of abortion facilities.
00:16:11.300 And I've SIWA counseled across 32 states.
00:16:14.940 And I've seen the devastation of what abortion does to our communities.
00:16:20.720 We're talking about generational trauma.
00:16:23.740 And there has to be people who are willing to interrupt that cycle of violence without mirroring violence.
00:16:32.620 And that's what nonviolent direct action is, rescue is.
00:16:37.540 Interrupting a cycle of violence without mirroring the injustice.
00:16:41.160 Lauren, let me just say how proud the pro-life movement is of you, your young lady, with just an amazing courage.
00:16:57.120 You've really shown us, in your willingness to suffer for this, the value of life.
00:17:03.140 And it's an incredible thing.
00:17:07.480 God bless you.
00:17:08.420 Thank you.
00:17:10.340 And I really take the, like, if they're made in the image of likeness of God, and every abortion destroys that image and likeness of God.
00:17:22.400 And if we love until it hurts, so there can be no more hurt and only more love, then how could we not?
00:17:29.740 And I just feel compelled to do what I can to alleviate suffering.
00:17:36.300 And if I cannot help alleviate suffering, to accompany those into the dark with them.
00:17:43.500 Yeah.
00:17:44.740 That suffering for you was very real as well.
00:17:48.680 I don't know if you're able to, but if you are, to tell us how it felt when, you know, police arrived and you were threatened that way.
00:17:59.840 What was that like for you?
00:18:02.800 It wasn't my first rodeo.
00:18:05.220 It wasn't my first arrest.
00:18:07.560 But there's always that initial fear.
00:18:10.160 But Joan Andrews Bell, my mentor, my beloved mentor, she always tells me, say, thank you, Jesus.
00:18:19.100 Thank you, Jesus.
00:18:20.760 Thank you, Jesus.
00:18:21.760 And have that and, and each, each time I just say, thank you, Jesus, because it is a truly, for me, it truly is an honor, and a blessing and a privilege to be able to be united to Christ crucified.
00:18:39.980 And to, and when we keep our perspectives on, have our, on the heavenly, it really grounds you in centers.
00:18:54.200 Wow.
00:18:57.700 Teresa, there's more to this story, though.
00:19:01.840 There's a background story.
00:19:04.980 Take us through that, if you would, please.
00:19:06.500 Yes, there is another story that's being weaved into this story.
00:19:10.880 And they're actually separate stories, but they are connected.
00:19:15.560 I, recently, Lauren and I have been engaged in what we call Pink Rose Rescues, which you may have heard of.
00:19:24.900 We are training young activists to enter abortion facilities, to hand out pink roses, to hand out resources.
00:19:31.480 It is a nod to the Red Rose Rescue movement, which you may be aware of.
00:19:35.420 And we're just, we're making more space for people to get involved.
00:19:40.680 And usually, we enter clinics, hand out roses, and leave.
00:19:44.140 And we were planning to do a rescue recently, a Pink Rose Rescue at Sant'Angelo's Clinic.
00:19:52.120 This is the same clinic where the lock and block occurred.
00:19:55.400 And last Friday, Lauren, on the day of the unborn and the annunciation, Lauren and I planned to do a Pink Rose Rescue.
00:20:04.980 We went to Sant'Angelo's Clinic, and at the time, we had no knowledge of this pending FBI investigation or these face charges.
00:20:15.900 We were just going along with our regular business.
00:20:18.500 This is something that we normally do.
00:20:20.660 We go to abortion facilities, and we try to help moms.
00:20:24.280 And we have.
00:20:25.180 We have saved babies at Sant'Angelo's Clinic before in a Pink Rose Rescue.
00:20:29.680 So, it's Friday.
00:20:31.740 It's the day of the unborn.
00:20:32.960 We decide to do a rescue.
00:20:34.340 We show up on the scene.
00:20:36.220 And immediately, there is a truck parked outside from Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services.
00:20:45.660 And we recognize it, you know, as a medical waste truck.
00:20:49.060 Lauren jumped out of the car immediately.
00:20:51.160 I followed her.
00:20:52.560 We approached the driver who was loading boxes into the back of the truck.
00:20:56.980 I asked him if he knew what was in the boxes, and he said no.
00:21:02.200 And we told him that it's probably dead babies.
00:21:06.040 And he was completely shocked.
00:21:08.800 And we asked him if they came from Washington Surgery Center.
00:21:13.720 And he went to go check to verify.
00:21:15.760 And while he was checking, we saw the label on the outside of the box, which indicated, yes, it had come from Washington Surgery Clinic.
00:21:23.100 And so, when he came back around, he also confirmed the same thing.
00:21:28.060 I asked him, will you get in trouble if we take one of these boxes?
00:21:33.720 And he said that he had already scanned it in.
00:21:36.840 But what would we do with them if we took a box?
00:21:41.620 And Lauren immediately said, we're going to give them a proper burial and a funeral.
00:21:46.540 And he thought for a second, and he said, okay.
00:21:52.500 And so, we grabbed the box.
00:21:55.900 Lauren grabbed the box.
00:21:57.520 We ran.
00:21:58.960 We got it to a safe place.
00:22:03.040 We talked to some people who had been in a similar circumstance before.
00:22:09.280 We were very panicked.
00:22:12.460 We knew there was a potential for something very traumatizing in that box.
00:22:20.020 But we had to find out.
00:22:22.380 And so, we got gloves.
00:22:24.720 We put on masks.
00:22:26.300 We were advised by people on how to do this.
00:22:29.120 We filmed the opening of the box.
00:22:31.860 And immediately, Lauren recognized, yes, there were aborted babies in there.
00:22:35.860 As we unpacked them, we unpacked over 115 unborn children.
00:22:45.220 Five of them were extremely late term.
00:22:51.540 And then we, I mean, then our lives were changed forever after that, after seeing them.
00:23:00.780 So, just going to play now a couple of clips of that unpacking, just to show people how real this was.
00:23:10.760 I just advise before we do that, that it's viewer discretion advised.
00:23:15.000 This is reality.
00:23:17.220 This is what they saw.
00:23:30.780 Now, after seeing that, we heard one of you were weeping in the background there.
00:23:46.000 If either of you are open to it, if you're able to describe what you felt like at the time.
00:23:54.260 I kept saying to myself, I'm sorry, baby.
00:24:06.960 I'm sorry.
00:24:08.460 I love you.
00:24:10.140 I'm sorry.
00:24:12.900 Love you.
00:24:13.740 It's by far the most soul-crushing experience I've ever had in my life.
00:24:19.660 And I know what abortion does.
00:24:21.300 I've already dedicated my life to helping these babies.
00:24:25.360 But I have never seen such horror, such violence, such hatred for our fellow man.
00:24:34.940 And I can't unsee it.
00:24:37.640 And it has haunted me every second of the day since that moment.
00:24:45.860 These are the realities of war on our own soil.
00:24:52.040 War perpetrated by us.
00:24:56.400 By the sitting government.
00:24:58.840 By what is so-called legal in America, in Canada, around the world.
00:25:06.760 The free world.
00:25:07.640 These are horrors.
00:25:10.060 And it's evident here.
00:25:12.520 This is what's concealed.
00:25:19.800 Trace, if you're able to continue from there, how does this play out?
00:25:25.860 So, for your audience, we did have a deacon present.
00:25:30.140 We tried to find a priest there for the unboxing.
00:25:33.000 But we were able to have a deacon present.
00:25:35.740 You know, we made the necessary calls to our attorneys.
00:25:41.420 And we decided that we wanted to find a pathologist or someone who could verify the late gestational ages of these unborn children.
00:25:51.420 And to determine whether or not some of them had been born alive, these are very big babies.
00:25:59.580 And we know from undercover footage that's been released by live action that Sant'Angelo does not use feticide when doing abortions.
00:26:10.260 That means, like, the likelihood of a late-term baby being born alive is extremely high.
00:26:17.020 And it's very unlikely at these gestational ages, without feet aside, that they weren't.
00:26:25.480 No, I mean, that baby in the video, I've had eight children born, and that baby looked bigger than some of our children who were born a little bit early.
00:26:38.120 Yes, we knew right away that there was potential evidence here of federal crimes, like the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.
00:26:50.000 Also, one of the late-term babies seemed very obviously a victim of partial birth abortion.
00:26:58.420 And so we were concerned from that moment on, preserving this evidence and ensuring that, or at least attempting to get justice for them, and to hopefully bring accountability to Sant'Angelo.
00:27:21.760 So we searched around for a pathologist.
00:27:24.640 We had a priest come a couple days later.
00:27:28.220 We were still looking for a pathologist.
00:27:30.440 He set a funeral mass for unbaptized children there at the location in front of the refrigerator where we had been storing them.
00:27:42.920 And ultimately, we were unable to locate a private pathologist who would be willing to come evaluate the condition of these children.
00:27:52.840 So we made arrangements through an attorney to hand them over to the medical examiner in order to make this determination about whether or not federal crimes had been committed.
00:28:06.000 And that arrangement was made the day before the FBI arrested Lauren and that the medical examiner and the DC police homicide and forensics showed up to the apartment to collect these children just hours after Lauren had been arrested.
00:28:26.520 So in the media, these two stories seem like one people have reported that the FBI raided Lauren's home and found fetuses that she had been keeping in her house.
00:28:40.960 Which is completely untrue.
00:28:42.960 This is something that we have been dealing with days prior to her arrest.
00:28:48.880 And it seemed to be just coincidence, or some people would say, or God's will, that this all occurred on the same day.
00:29:01.780 And so we are trying to set the record straight about that situation.
00:29:08.060 There's been accusations against Lauren for keeping babies for a long period of time.
00:29:12.900 That is certainly not the case.
00:29:14.420 We have acted with the utmost urgency with this situation and respect for the remains of these unborn children.
00:29:23.420 Okay, so the truth of the story is, the media reports that, you know, they go in to do this arrest of all these nine people.
00:29:37.420 And at one of them, at Lauren's place, they find these remains of five babies.
00:29:44.160 That wasn't related actually to the arrest per se.
00:29:47.200 It was arrest, and then later they come and do what you guys, in fact, had called them for.
00:29:53.420 What is truly remarkable, though, is that the lock and block happened at Sant'Angelo's clinic.
00:30:00.380 And this was just a situation that we couldn't have planned for outside of Sant'Angelo's clinic last Friday.
00:30:07.780 And it seems just pretty interesting that the two ultimately are connected, even though they were entirely separate incidents, years apart.
00:30:21.300 Yeah.
00:30:23.260 Okay, so it's phenomenally interesting also, because this all goes on.
00:30:31.120 The evidence comes forward on the day of the unborn.
00:30:39.480 It's called that because it's on the day of the Annunciation.
00:30:42.100 The Annunciation, March 25th, is the feast day where we celebrate the conception of Jesus Christ in the womb of his Holy Mother.
00:30:49.960 So it's the perfect day for the day of the unborn, because it's the day that Jesus became the unborn.
00:30:55.380 And on that very day comes the evidence in almost a miraculous way that you guys have that leads, yes, to this great suffering, but also to this evidence.
00:31:07.720 I'm looking forward to seeing what comes from it.
00:31:10.660 And your heroism is really incredible.
00:31:14.900 However, I must say there does seem to be a connection in all of this anyway, because here is a DC clinic, a major DC clinic.
00:31:26.500 It's the DC medical examiner that you went to, to come and check this out.
00:31:35.420 And then you get served right away with this old case from 2020, and they come and get you on the very day that they're also coming to pick up this evidence.
00:31:49.440 It's, sorry, it seems kind of related.
00:31:52.420 I don't mean to be a conspiracy theorist, but from what we've seen with the FBI fooling around with evidence and covering things up and doing wild other things to accuse whistleblowers, this seems a little bit too much for me.
00:32:09.400 Yeah.
00:32:11.920 It definitely seems like a wild coincidence.
00:32:14.220 And regrettably, though, the DC police has already, they've already made a statement saying that they don't believe any crimes have been committed here, that the babies were afforded, according to DC law, and that they are not pursuing an investigation as to how these babies died, and how we acquired the fetuses.
00:32:37.200 Whoa, okay.
00:32:39.340 You know what?
00:32:39.840 But in these kind of crazy times, where it seems like the powers that be are so much above us, and so much, we sort of seem to have nothing to do, we still can do something.
00:32:51.720 Look, here's something else that's very weird.
00:32:54.560 The abortionist in question, Cesar Sant'Angelo, his last name is Sant'Angelo, which means holy angels.
00:33:00.800 There's no such thing as real coincidences in life, I don't believe.
00:33:06.940 I believe in providence, and God's hand works in everything.
00:33:10.760 We need to pray that the holy angels assist us with the conversion of Cesar Sant'Angelo.
00:33:18.260 I don't, you know, we don't hate these people.
00:33:22.720 They're doing heinous things.
00:33:23.960 They're killing babies.
00:33:24.940 They're absolutely killing babies.
00:33:26.280 Maybe I can ask you, Lord, do you hate Cesar Sant'Angelo?
00:33:33.280 My heart is broken over the violence he committed.
00:33:41.920 And I pray, and I'm fasting for his conversion.
00:33:46.340 I know in my own life, my different things that led to my conversion, and I'm so grateful for God's grace and love and abundance and blessings, and I hope that for him too.
00:34:02.700 And for me, I don't think hate is productive.
00:34:14.860 I think righteous anger, I think grief and mourning and sorrow are more aligned with how I deal with things.
00:34:25.460 It's very obvious we hate the things he's been doing.
00:34:31.240 He's been killing, dismembering, and harming innocent little children.
00:34:37.920 That's very clear.
00:34:39.380 But we hold and harbor no hatred toward him, and we hope and pray, and even offer up our sufferings for his own conversion.
00:34:47.400 Because a lot of us were there ourselves.
00:34:50.280 And this is an incredible thing, because a lot of what's legally going on here is based on this kind of a notion of some kind of hatred for abortionists.
00:35:02.420 And, you know, I remember whenever the media portrayed something going on with abortion, the abortion story of whatever nature, they used to start off with,
00:35:12.900 this abortionist was shot through the window, and it's unbelievable, and have his casket there, his family standing around.
00:35:17.960 And as if that's the take from the pro-life movement.
00:35:21.140 Not at all.
00:35:21.760 We're pro-life.
00:35:23.580 And what we do hope for is an end to the violence.
00:35:27.760 And yet we're even the perpetrators of this violence.
00:35:31.100 We have a love for and that we're praying for them.
00:35:33.600 And we hope for the best for them.
00:35:35.300 And the best for them would be stopped from doing these killings.
00:35:39.740 So it's, it is, it's an unbelievable story.
00:35:43.100 It seems very much related.
00:35:44.960 It seems beyond our capacity to deal with, but there is this opportunity to pray.
00:35:49.920 Think of all of the spiritual ties in here.
00:35:53.100 The evidence comes on the Feast of the Annunciation.
00:35:56.380 The abortionist in question's name is Sant'Angelo, Holy Angels.
00:36:00.440 We need to pray that this goes well.
00:36:03.360 What else can we do?
00:36:06.060 Tell us, if you can, if you have anything else.
00:36:09.460 I'd also like, if possible, to speak with the collaborators you've been working with, both with Missy Smith and also with Randall Terry, who I know are there as well.
00:36:19.460 But are there any final comments that either of you two had before we go to them?
00:36:23.440 The first trimester children that we found are being plans for a proper burial.
00:36:34.080 And we are working towards making sure the five other children, Christopher X, Harriet, Holly, Phoenix, and Angel, get a proper burial as well.
00:36:47.840 Amen.
00:36:51.440 Well, I thank you both for that, and I understand it's very difficult to talk about these things when you've experienced them.
00:36:59.040 As I said before, we're so proud of you.
00:37:01.820 God bless you, and we're going to be praying for you.
00:37:04.180 Thank you.
00:37:04.480 So, if you can tell us what we can do from a more practical perspective.
00:37:11.620 We will be praying about this for sure.
00:37:13.440 But what else can be done, and what do you have to tell us?
00:37:19.240 I would cry out, for those who are watching in America, contact the Justice Department and ask, really demand, that the Justice Department do an investigation into this abortionist.
00:37:30.000 The D.C. authorities, the law in D.C. is so bizarre.
00:37:35.880 Some people read it to say you can kill a baby up until the day of birth, and you don't even have to be a licensed physician.
00:37:40.960 So, this is insanity.
00:37:42.720 But federal law, the Border Protection Act and the law against partial birth abortion, these are federal matters.
00:37:51.460 And we ask people to contact the Justice Department and to demand that they open an investigation into this abortionist, and that they drop the charges against these nine people.
00:38:04.420 The nine people are the heroes in the story, not the villains.
00:38:08.600 This is like some dystopian, horrific novel where the people trying to save lives are put in prison, and the people that are doing the killing are walking free.
00:38:17.260 It's unthinkable.
00:38:19.420 Yeah.
00:38:19.520 This is, we're hoping, at LifeSite, to do a petition on that, to petition the government in order to do the right thing here.
00:38:31.040 And let me, since you mentioned there, Randall, the need for funds, obviously this case is going to need funding.
00:38:40.180 The many people who are involved are going to need support.
00:38:43.140 So, at LifeSite News, we're setting up a LifeFunder on this.
00:38:46.740 Go to LifeFunder.com.
00:38:48.000 You'll see it there.
00:38:49.200 And you'll be able to support this case going forward, these nine heroes who are facing these horrific charges.
00:38:57.240 So, Missy, what can you tell us?
00:38:58.540 Well, I guess it was November 27th, 2020, I got a call from a friend, a pro-life friend, who had heard on the ham radio of her own that there was a baby had been found dead in a toilet in a Ruby Tuesdays restaurant in Upper Marlboro.
00:39:23.640 And so, I made some calls, I looked at the footage that I was able to get on the internet, and indeed there was a little baby girl that had been found and turned over to the medical examiner.
00:39:38.900 So, I called the medical examiner and offered to give a good Samaritan, offered to have a funeral, and the medical examiner was very angry about it and ugly.
00:39:53.100 So, but he did say, if you want to know anything more, call the detective who the case had been turned over to.
00:39:59.180 So, I did.
00:40:00.640 And it took a long time, but I was able to get legal custody of the remains of a little baby girl.
00:40:10.180 She was full-term, she was a third trimester baby, and she was found dead in a toilet.
00:40:23.480 And the mother was contacted and said she didn't want anything to do with it.
00:40:27.460 So, I moved forward and was able to find a funeral home and a mortician to pick up the remains and name the baby Philomena Grace.
00:40:36.980 We ultimately, months and months later, because it hit in the middle of COVID, we were able to have a beautiful mass, which Bishop Joseph Coffey was the main celebrant, and then two other priests.
00:40:50.560 And then we had a burial at this wonderful little cemetery outside the church in the Garden of the Innocents.
00:40:59.280 So, it's not a, I agree with you, there are no coincidences.
00:41:04.240 And this baby was killed by an orphaness.
00:41:06.660 This, the baby was killed by St. Angelo.
00:41:10.900 So, the same, the same abortionist.
00:41:13.680 So, we have this, you know, perfect storm where the baby was, Philomena Grace was murdered.
00:41:21.080 And then the nine arrests.
00:41:23.260 These women and men that, like Will Goodman, are very holy.
00:41:28.040 These are all very holy people.
00:41:29.460 And they knew the atrocities.
00:41:31.820 Because you, I'm sure, know about the woman that died.
00:41:36.800 I think it was 2011.
00:41:38.700 And then the case about another baby that was born alive and left to die.
00:41:44.840 So, there's a long history here.
00:41:47.140 And it's not a coincidence or anything random.
00:41:51.480 These are all, the hand of God is in this to reveal the ugliness of this, in this particular abortionist.
00:41:59.140 John, as you know, Lauren pointed out, the people that have been involved in this are from such divergent backgrounds.
00:42:08.640 It's, it's almost comical, to be honest with you, excuse me, when we sit around and have certain discussions.
00:42:16.640 But I want to point something out to, to your viewers.
00:42:22.080 One of the most famous stories the Lord ever told was the parable of the Good Samaritan.
00:42:29.160 And in the Good Samaritan, the man was beaten and left for dead in the ditch.
00:42:32.840 And the priest walked by and didn't do anything.
00:42:36.440 And then the Levite walked by.
00:42:38.440 And I jokingly tell the story that the priest was a writer.
00:42:41.200 And he did a series on secular humanism, relativism, the root of ditch beatings.
00:42:48.420 And that the Levite was a singing Levite.
00:42:50.860 And he did an album.
00:42:52.340 And his, his title cut was Dying in the Ditch.
00:42:55.660 And people would cry when they heard the song.
00:42:59.140 And then along comes the Samaritan.
00:43:02.020 And if we were to tell it as a joke, it would be something like, along comes the homosexual Mormon.
00:43:08.500 Or, you know, whatever you, you want to put in.
00:43:12.340 Because the Samaritans were despised by the Jews.
00:43:15.860 The Jews hated the Samaritans more than they disliked the Gentiles.
00:43:20.180 Because of the heresies that they had in their worship of God.
00:43:24.900 So, not only was the Lord explaining what it means to love our neighbor.
00:43:29.160 Which is, if your neighbor's about to die, save them.
00:43:32.500 Which we're all called to do.
00:43:34.000 We're all called to love our neighbor.
00:43:35.340 But he was also insulting the people that thought they were too holy or too good.
00:43:43.500 Or that they knew what it meant to love their neighbor.
00:43:45.680 He was insulting them.
00:43:47.060 So, we have been able to work together with people of no religious background, of incredibly different political background spectrum, Republican, Independent, Democrat.
00:44:01.120 And on most issues, we probably just, or at least on a lot of them, we just don't grieve.
00:44:07.880 But we recognize that there's a man dying in the ditch.
00:44:12.380 And it's the baby.
00:44:13.700 The abortion mill is the ditch.
00:44:15.320 And the man are the babies.
00:44:16.620 And that we have an obligation before God and to our fellow man to do everything in our power to save as many babies as we can.
00:44:26.180 And that's what we're doing.
00:44:27.700 And so, I tip my hand to these people.
00:44:29.940 And sometimes I think, because a lot of the people that I've had the joy of working with lately are not religious at all.
00:44:36.360 And so, as I have been working with some of these different people and speaking to them and hanging out, it's been fun.
00:44:46.420 It's been funny.
00:44:47.580 And there are Christians who are upset because these people who are saving babies don't fit the common mold of a devout Christian.
00:44:56.320 And, you know, I say to people, look, if my daughter was drowning and it took me and one other person to save my daughter, I'm not going to do a litmus test before I let that person save my daughter.
00:45:11.280 I'm not going to say, are you a Christian?
00:45:13.180 Do you pray the rosary?
00:45:14.240 Do you believe in the gifts of the spirit?
00:45:16.180 Do you speak in tongues?
00:45:17.380 How many books are in your Bible?
00:45:19.100 I'm just not going to do that.
00:45:21.540 I'm going to say, please help me save my daughter.
00:45:23.760 And if my daughter's life is worth that type of bridge building, then everybody's daughter's life and son's life is worth it.
00:45:33.960 Yeah, yeah.
00:45:34.500 They call the pro-life movement the greatest ecumenical movement on earth.
00:45:37.380 And I totally believe it because it is where, you know, we come together and fight for life.
00:45:43.780 And you find so much courage in all these different backgrounds from not only racial backgrounds and cultural backgrounds, faith backgrounds, too.
00:45:54.200 And it's an amazing thing.
00:45:56.500 And yeah, we come at it from different perspectives and different things.
00:45:59.960 And we work that out.
00:46:01.180 And usually we care enough about one another to engage on these other topics.
00:46:06.440 I know after the March for Life, when we've all been working like crazy, we go back to the bar and we're usually talking about religion to one another.
00:46:12.860 And that's OK.
00:46:13.500 It's all good.
00:46:13.980 Anyway, there is great fun in the movement, great love and great courage.
00:46:18.900 And also, in some ways, the Good Samaritan was a rebuke to those of us who are like the priest and the Levite, who walk by on the other side of the road.
00:46:31.060 I have been amazed at the courage that I've seen in some of these young people.
00:46:35.540 And I've said to them, you're not proclaiming Christianity, but you're sure a burr in the saddle of Christians because you're doing the things that we should be doing.
00:46:45.500 But this case, John, I think is is really something as if when it's all revealed, it will be really bond so many people together because we all I mean, unless someone is has a truly hardened black heart, they love children.
00:47:06.800 Everyone does.
00:47:07.500 John, I need to I need to say one more thing for you and a plug for you.
00:47:12.360 As you know, this is the first long form interview, the first interview, really, that Lauren and Teresa have done.
00:47:18.520 And there's a long line of people that are going to interview them.
00:47:23.640 I just hung up with The Washington Post.
00:47:25.700 They're going to do something on Monday.
00:47:27.760 The CBS News affiliate is going to do a long interview with them.
00:47:31.160 But we wanted you to be first because I knew that you and your folks would give Teresa and Lauren the opportunity to tell the story as it really happened.
00:47:42.940 And if if your viewers do see and hear other news broadcasts, which are surely going to happen, some of them that are already emerging are hostile, belligerent and untrue.
00:47:56.280 So I thank you for the opportunity for Lauren and Teresa and for Missy and I to be a part of what we call a long form interview.
00:48:06.140 It's like the good old days of Larry King, you know, or some of these guys that would talk.
00:48:10.360 They ask a question and let the people talk.
00:48:12.140 Thank you for that.
00:48:13.340 God bless you and what you guys are doing.
00:48:15.620 Thank you, Randall.
00:48:16.600 It is our honor and privilege.
00:48:19.100 I wanted to do one last thing before we sign off.
00:48:21.740 The human toll is real for all these nine who are really out there to save babies, to sacrifice themselves for life.
00:48:33.460 And I really do hope people are really generous in assisting the LifeFunder.
00:48:38.480 If you don't mind, I'd like one of you maybe to describe what's going on with Lauren personally.
00:48:44.960 And Lauren, if you're willing to do it yourself, that would be great.
00:48:47.440 I, you know, I know this stuff is really hard for you, but to understand the toll of what's going on, I think people need to hear it as well.
00:48:56.260 We've been with her and we know she's really suffering.
00:49:00.080 I mean, she has lost her home.
00:49:03.200 She had a brand new, beautiful new apartment.
00:49:05.540 And in fact, there was nothing in her refrigerator.
00:49:08.980 And so that worked out well with 115 babies, but it didn't work out so well with her landlord when all the police and the newspaper and all that came, they asked her to leave.
00:49:20.960 They threw her out.
00:49:21.860 Yeah.
00:49:22.140 So it's a, it's, she, she thought that she was going to be able to go and live with a certain group of people that have always been there for her.
00:49:28.800 And they said, nope, you can come back and live here as long as you promise to not do anything pro-life and not speak about the pro-life movement.
00:49:36.020 And of course she would not be willing to do that.
00:49:38.620 So right now she's in between homes.
00:49:42.060 We're not going to call her homeless because we didn't find her under a bridge.
00:49:46.280 We did, however, find her on a couch.
00:49:48.240 So she's for sure in between homes and can use help.
00:49:51.720 I don't know if Lauren, are you able to come and just speak to that for a second or would you rather leave it there?
00:50:02.240 When we count up the costs, when we follow Jesus and I know it's worth it.
00:50:09.680 I know pursuing righteousness, pursuing justice, pursuing what is good and beauty and life.
00:50:20.860 I'm willing to suffer for the unborn and to suffer to alleviate pain and death wherever I can.
00:50:29.300 And so in that aspect, it's worth it.
00:50:36.440 But I just remember, you know, I'm in FBI custody.
00:50:40.860 I'm in a cage sitting on a metal bed and thinking to myself a day before, two days before, I'm seeing his victims.
00:50:53.080 He's the victims of Dr. Santangelo and the juxtaposition was very interesting.
00:51:01.680 And I'm so thankful for all the priests in my life who've been advising and helping along the way.
00:51:11.560 And I know a lot of people are very upset, very confused about what's happening, very disturbed with what's happening.
00:51:21.020 And that's natural.
00:51:23.640 I mean, talking about children very advanced in age, being killed.
00:51:30.380 And I want to encourage people that I did whatever to the best of my ability to follow church teaching, to give and respectfully honor and love these children.
00:51:47.300 Amen.
00:51:49.240 Lauren, thank you.
00:51:51.940 Teresa, Missy, and Randall, thank you all.
00:51:55.980 This has been for LifeSite News, for the John Henry Weston Show, an honor beyond what I can say.
00:52:04.740 God bless all of you.
00:52:05.520 I'll see you next time.
00:52:06.620 Thank you.
00:52:06.780 Take care.
