This might resonate with your audience, John Henry.
00:00:02.000
There's a big difference between believing in God and trusting in Him.
00:00:05.340
It's the difference between, oh, I accept the teaching of the magisterium.
00:00:08.780
I assent to the creed. I'm an orthodox. I'm pro-magisterium.
00:00:17.660
They believe all the doctrines of the faith, but they tremble.
00:00:26.840
I want to introduce you to someone who's a friend of mine.
00:00:30.820
And you guys have, yes, seen him once before, but you know what?
00:00:34.740
I want to get you to know him a little bit better.
00:00:44.240
He's one of the ones courageous enough to come out early on
00:00:47.380
with regard to the whole COVID business and take it head on.
00:00:52.900
One of the mottos is he goes where no one dares to tread.
00:00:59.160
But he's been putting on some amazing Catholic conferences,
00:01:02.500
some conferences that are really giving people a shot in the arm
00:01:09.500
But in order to appreciate more fully what he offers,
00:01:15.700
you should get to know him a little bit more personally.
00:01:19.100
That's what we want to do on this episode of the John Henry Weston Show.
00:01:27.440
Did you know that massive companies like DoorDash, Etsy, Fry's Food, Jay's Jewelers,
00:01:33.340
and even Hallmark are emailing their customers for the opportunity
00:01:37.120
to opt out of Mother's Day announcements for this month?
00:01:40.400
This is the latest erasure of women, and especially mothers,
00:01:47.100
entirely against LifeSite's pro-life and pro-family mission.
00:01:50.060
And that's why, during the month of May, LifeSite honors mothers around the world
00:01:54.780
who have lovingly brought the culture of life into their homes and neighborhoods.
00:01:59.460
In fact, we at LifeSite are proud to launch our worldwide LifeSite Spiritual Bouquet for Mothers.

and together we will opt in to the culture of life.
00:03:12.320
Let's begin, as we always do, with the sign of the cross.
00:03:17.260
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
00:03:23.080
So, Patrick, I know you mostly through a mutual friend we have,
00:03:38.120
was that you were basically like a stand-up comedian,
00:03:46.680
That was the start of the conversation, of course.
00:03:48.060
I'd love to know a little bit more about your story,
00:03:55.840
Well, since you obviously want to put your entire audience to sleep,
00:04:00.040
But the main story about me, I think, that is of interest
00:04:03.740
is how I was raised in a standard secularist East Canadian culture.
00:04:12.020
when I was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
00:04:18.600
where all the sacramental graces that my now late father made sure I got.
00:04:23.540
My mom was a convert later to the one holy Catholic and apostolic faith.
00:04:28.160
But that was a true revolutionary event in my life.
00:04:36.960
And I was very grateful to have this conversion experience.
00:04:51.020
to try to find out more about how to explain what happened to others
00:04:54.660
because I wanted to share this newfound enthusiasm.
00:05:03.780
I had four years of pretty, I won't say secularist,
00:05:07.640
more heterodox, the standard bromides of the Catholic left.
00:05:13.700
And so I learned a kind of primacy of conscience Catholic formation,
00:05:19.480
And it wasn't until a long journey and many mistakes and sins on my part
00:05:25.260
that I finally made a real plea to the Holy Spirit
00:05:35.180
And then I, very quickly after I got the gift of faith,
00:05:41.520
it was like people I'd never heard of coming up out of the concrete in front of me,
00:05:46.240
writers, resources, people, events, quote unquote coincidences.
00:05:49.620
And one of them was an image that my now friend and mentor,
00:05:53.340
Peter Crafe provided about the church as our mother.
00:06:01.100
She's not the lunch lady at school who doesn't really care what you eat.
00:06:04.180
And that suddenly encapsulated a lot of the confusion that I was experiencing.
00:06:09.300
So I ended up going to Franciscan University of Steubenville,
00:06:17.300
And that's when I fell in love with dynamic orthodoxy.
00:06:20.160
I learned about the church fathers, St. Thomas Aquinas,
00:06:33.160
which is now titled The Contraception Deception.
00:06:37.280
Humana Vitae was like the ugly, embarrassing stink bomb
00:07:01.340
Well, who would want to follow a faith like that?
