00:00:00.000 In Mississippi, the most incredible thing has happened.
00:00:03.840 A pro-life law has passed banning abortion based on sex, based on gender, and based on
00:00:11.520 disability.
00:00:12.820 And the person behind it is here with us today.
00:00:17.520 We are going to be talking about this most incredible thing going on.
00:00:21.780 It's not been challenged.
00:00:22.980 It's an existing pro-life law in Mississippi today.
00:00:26.380 You're going to want to stay tuned.

00:01:06.660 Let's begin as we always do with the sign of the cross.
00:01:09.180 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
00:01:12.980 Amen.
00:01:14.600 Micah Hartman, welcome to the program.
00:01:16.640 Hi.
00:01:18.520 It is so good to be with you.
00:01:20.180 In the pro-life movement, we very seldom hear good news.
00:01:24.480 And very rarely, you seldom hear great news.
00:01:27.100 And yours is great news.
00:01:30.560 So let's learn a little bit, first of all, about yourself and what caused you to get into
00:01:37.420 this in the first place.
00:01:38.580 So, all gone.
00:01:41.260 Absolutely every single bit of it from start to being right here right now.
00:01:45.100 Um, we actually, our little guy was born in Colorado.
00:01:49.580 And, um, we had been stationed here before.
00:01:52.060 My husband, um, is in the military.
00:01:54.420 And, um, and so we, um, knew that we would always come back here at some point.
00:01:58.960 We didn't realize how soon that would be.
00:02:00.820 When he was born, his little heart, um, needed an open heart surgery.
00:02:05.180 And, um, the altitude was just too hard on him.
00:02:08.000 So fast forward to after his open heart surgery, which was at three and a half months of life,
00:02:13.100 we realized he wasn't thriving.
00:02:14.900 And then when we drove into the mountains, it was just worse.
00:02:17.420 He, he just plummeted with his oxygen and needed to, to come back to sea level.
00:02:22.920 So we put our house on the market.
00:02:24.360 It sold in 48 hours, which was a God thing.
00:02:26.900 We bought a house here, sight unseen.
00:02:28.880 But actually before we bought this house, we bought three other houses and each one, God
00:02:32.880 said, nope, you're not at the right one.
00:02:34.320 Oh, wait, wait, wait.
00:02:35.080 Nope.
00:02:35.280 Not yet.
00:02:35.680 Not yet.
00:02:36.100 And then we got to this house.
00:02:37.600 We had the Lord's blessing.
00:02:39.100 And just so happened, our neighbor across the street was running for Senator.
00:02:43.580 And, um, and so I got to meet his family and, um, share our story.
00:02:48.640 And some of his workers loved our story so much.
00:02:51.280 They called me and asked if I would be willing to go to the Capitol and talk about, um, pro
00:02:56.560 life and choosing life.
00:02:57.820 And, um, that's where I met Susan B. Anthony list.
00:03:01.000 And we immediately connected.
00:03:03.280 I am just so thankful for their friendship and their support.
00:03:06.640 And, um, we were told it would be two to three years before the house bill 1295 would actually
00:03:13.240 pass, um, that that was kind of what they saw.
00:03:16.280 And with Hudson's little face, it passed the first year and it's already been in law for
00:03:20.820 a full year now.
00:03:21.900 And we've even passed another pro-life, um, Hudson has his own law.
00:03:26.400 Now we even have Hudson's law here in Mississippi that was just signed last Thursday by our governor,
00:03:31.100 which requires doctors to give up to date information for down syndrome diagnosis and other trisomy
00:03:37.280 diagnosis.
00:03:38.580 Amazing.
00:03:39.260 Amazing.
00:03:39.600 Now let's go back a little bit to your own pregnancy with Hudson, what you found out, how
00:03:47.020 you reacted to the news and, uh, what happened there?
00:03:50.260 I have a son that'll be 23 in April.
00:03:52.180 I have a daughter that is 13 and Hudson will be three in April.
00:03:57.180 Our daughter, we've had a baby every decade.
00:03:59.540 Um, our daughter was in vitro.
00:04:02.360 We didn't know we could get pregnant.
00:04:03.660 So to have our official boost 10 years later was just a shock beyond shock.
00:04:09.100 But, um, so, you know, just ecstatic, just total, just over the moon giddy.
00:04:15.680 Um, you know, had a nursery already in my head, you know, the day we got, you know, took the
00:04:20.720 pregnancy test.
00:04:21.580 And, um, I, I think that my first doctor saw some soft markers.
00:04:26.320 And so she went ahead and referred me because of my age.
00:04:29.260 I had a little bit of a heart condition.
00:04:31.600 I have a left bundle branch block, if that means anything to anyone, but, um, but they
00:04:35.560 went ahead and put me with another doctor.
00:04:37.420 And, um, at 13 weeks, they, um, said that they saw some soft markers on Hudson that they
00:04:44.000 were concerned about.
00:04:45.720 And, um, the room went from giggles and laughter to just very sad and almost a panic.
00:04:51.020 And, um, what they noticed on Hudson was the little bridge of his nose.
00:04:54.000 He had a little tiny button nose.
00:04:55.240 He had a little extra skin, little fat pad back here on the back of his neck.
00:05:00.280 And then the jugormous hole in his heart.
00:05:02.960 He didn't have any chambers.
00:05:04.500 All of his oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated were mixing together.
00:05:07.860 So, um, my husband and I, you know, just wanted to know more information.
00:05:14.920 The room went very somber and they said, well, you have options.
00:05:18.320 My husband and I immediately looked at each other and said, we don't have options.
00:05:21.780 That's not even like, let's, please don't mention that again.
00:05:25.280 We choose life.
00:05:26.440 We will always choose life.
00:05:27.760 What we need to know is gather our information so we can prepare our hearts and prepare for
00:05:32.200 best taking care of our baby.
00:05:33.540 And so they did the amnio at that time and we waited 48 hours and my husband, I can remember
00:05:39.860 him just sitting at the computer, just frantically putting every photo in because he wasn't sure
00:05:46.880 if we were going to get more photos of Hudson that this, you know, we may not get any more
00:05:50.500 ultrasound photos.
00:05:51.820 And, um, and so we, we waited our 48 hours and we got the beautiful news that Hudson had
00:05:58.040 trisomy 21.
00:05:58.880 We had a great chance for bringing him, um, into this world and loving on him.
00:06:04.440 And, um, so that was at 13 weeks.
00:06:07.020 Well, then at 30 weeks, my heart failed.
00:06:09.760 And so I went, um, into the doctor and they said, we're keeping you and we're delivering
00:06:15.340 you this weekend.
00:06:16.680 And that was at 30 weeks.
00:06:18.120 And I knew Hudson already had a mountain to climb.
00:06:20.360 I was trying to make the mountain, not as steep.
00:06:23.260 I was trying to plateau it the best I could for him.
00:06:25.440 And so I begged to stay pregnant and luckily my doctor listened to me.
00:06:29.960 She heard that I wanted to, the team was 50, 50.
00:06:33.040 It depended on who was on shift, if I was going to get to stay pregnant or not.
00:06:37.240 And, um, and so they put me in an ambulance and got me out of that hospital and sent me
00:06:41.880 to one in Denver.
00:06:42.900 I'm actually Aurora, but, um, but anyway, I was next door to the children's hospital.
00:06:46.900 It was a miracle.
00:06:47.780 Um, so they asked to do a heart path on me.
00:06:51.380 I went in for my heart path, um, with a little bit of hesitation, but just trying to gather
00:06:56.060 all the information to stay pregnant.
00:06:57.880 Well, when I was in my heart path and the probe hit perfectly and threw me into complete
00:07:02.600 heart block, um, I was beating at 13 beats per minute and, um, they shocked me four times.
00:07:08.560 They gave me all the medicine that they could.
00:07:11.320 And, um, they weren't sure if they were going to be able to save me.
00:07:14.620 And they were at this point just trying to save Hudson.
00:07:16.780 So they brought the team in to do a cesarean.
00:07:19.420 And at that moment in time, God just said, Oh, wait, hold on and slowed everything down.
00:07:24.760 And the doctor was able to get a pacer in.
00:07:27.500 And, um, I, I woke up with a pacemaker in my neck and I see you, um, I was propped up
00:07:32.860 on so many pillows when I woke up.
00:07:34.740 I didn't know I was still pregnant because of the way that I was sitting.
00:07:37.580 And all I could do is just cry and say how sorry I was to everyone in the room thinking
00:07:42.440 that Hudson had been born.
00:07:44.180 And that was the opposite of why I traveled to Denver.
00:07:46.600 I was trying to stay pregnant and, um, my nurse leaned down, one of my most favorite
00:07:52.440 people were still in very much touch.
00:07:54.240 Um, she leaned down nurse Nicole and said, um, you're still pregnant.
00:07:59.860 I mean, the, the amazing side of that and knowing that, that, um, that we, we pulled
00:08:06.540 through and here's the miracle.
00:08:09.100 Not only did I survive and husband stayed in my belly, but he grew, he went from the
00:08:14.280 32nd percentile to the 65th percentile in the same week.
00:08:19.460 Um, because my heart was pumping, right?
00:08:21.100 Because I was providing him with what he needed to grow.
00:08:23.780 And we were able to stay pregnant until 37 weeks.
00:08:27.220 And it wasn't my heart that delivered me at 37 weeks.
00:08:29.840 It was actually, I created him a really nice luxury swimming pool that, um, it was about
00:08:34.600 to pop.
00:08:35.100 And, um, and so we had to, to go in and, and go ahead and induce and get Hudson here and
00:08:41.300 praise the Lord because the day Hudson was born, not only was he born with in heart failure,
00:08:46.520 but he was also born with transient leukemia.
00:08:49.820 And, um, and so getting that news at day one of life, had he been born at 30 weeks versus
00:08:54.680 37, it may have been a lot harder for him to fight it.
00:08:58.280 He fought it all on his own with no treatment, no medication.
00:09:01.360 And at week four of life, he was cancer free.
00:09:04.480 Wow.
00:09:05.300 Wow.
00:09:05.860 God certainly had a plan, a plan for you, a plan for Hudson.
00:09:09.700 And, um, I want to get into this incredible story about your lobbying efforts.
00:09:15.280 And I should say Senator Hudson's lobbying efforts.
00:09:19.060 Um, tell us, tell us a story of how he gets called Senator Hudson and why is that?
00:09:24.500 So Senator Hudson, um, has a very nice ring to it, right?
00:09:28.000 I see politics in our total future here, but, um, yeah.
00:09:31.360 But so when House Bill 1295, when we were, were brought in as the family for that, um,
00:09:37.680 you know, everyone fell in love with Hudson.
00:09:39.500 I mean, it was really just a beautiful, um, everyone wanted to take their picture.
00:09:43.880 They were popping up all over social media from him being in the Capitol.
00:09:47.040 We put him in Senator England's chair and took his photo and people just gravitated towards
00:09:52.780 wanting to, to know more about Hudson.
00:09:54.520 And his little light is just so bright.
00:09:58.040 And, um, so when the vote finally came, you know, it was right going into COVID time.
00:10:04.540 We had gone to the Capitol as much as we could.
00:10:06.200 And then now we're starting to talk about locking things down and things.
00:10:10.000 And, um, so I was watching the vote on the, um, on the phone in the background.
00:10:15.440 There's no one standing at the podium, but in the background, after the votes were all
00:10:19.420 in, someone stood up and said, well, is Senator Hudson here and how is he voting?
00:10:24.220 And the whole galley just busted into laughter.
00:10:27.240 And that just has, has stuck.
00:10:29.800 I mean, Senator Hudson, um, you know, he's just, um, changing the world.
00:10:35.900 Amen.
00:10:36.500 Amen.
00:10:36.820 Now, what did, what was the vote exactly on which, which piece of legislation?
00:10:40.220 What did the vote do?
00:10:40.980 So this was the House Bill 1295.
00:10:42.600 So, um, so Senator Hudson came, came from, from that, that vote there.
00:10:48.140 And, um, then when we introduced Hudson's law, everybody already knew him as Senator Hudson.
00:10:53.960 Um, our big thing in Mississippi recently, we changed our flag and, um, in our flag, we
00:10:59.880 now have in God, we trust written on it, bringing Hudson back.
00:11:03.820 That's what I've been going back to that.
00:11:05.960 Um, we need to love all of God's children and provide everything that they need.
00:11:12.080 And we are saying in God, we trust in our state and, and we need to hold true to that.
00:11:16.760 That needs to be, um, our absolute foundation.
00:11:19.900 So, um, so the, the vote for Hudson's law in the Senate was unanimous.
00:11:24.900 Oh, wow.
00:11:25.500 The vote in the House was, um, I believe it was, there were only two nays.
00:11:30.880 I, I, what the exact total was on that one.
00:11:33.460 And there were two nays.
00:11:34.840 They did try to change some of the language on it to be a little bit, um, broader, but it
00:11:40.440 got a little too broad.
00:11:41.640 So they brought it back to the trisemies only, which, um, you know, I appreciated from
00:11:45.720 that standpoint and, and then it, it sailed right through again.
00:11:49.000 So when it went in for concurrence, it, it was unanimous again.
00:11:52.540 Great.
00:11:52.740 And signed by the governor.
00:11:54.180 Signed by the governor last Thursday.
00:11:56.000 It was voted on a Wednesday and we were there at the Capitol signing on Thursday.
00:12:00.360 I mean, it was, and, and, and the reason for that, our governor is extremely pro-life.
00:12:05.200 Our governor will choose life every single second of every day.
00:12:09.280 And, um, and he said that, you know, he wanted this done before world down syndrome day, that
00:12:15.040 this was, um, you know, his way of showing how, how he chooses life.
00:12:19.300 So, Senator Hudson, would he be in the building?
00:12:22.500 He is in the building.
00:12:24.000 Would you see if he'll join us?
00:12:25.360 Come on, let me go get him.
00:12:28.920 Can you say hi, Hudson?
00:12:31.120 Look up here.
00:12:32.440 Can you say hi?
00:12:33.860 Hi, Hudson.
00:12:34.800 Hi.
00:12:35.840 Hi there.
00:12:36.560 Hello.
00:12:39.840 There's Hudson.
00:12:41.160 Wow.
00:12:41.560 I don't know how long he's going to stay, but he is in the building.
00:12:47.840 Oh, wow.
00:12:48.560 What a sweetie.
00:12:49.340 He just had a big surgery a couple of weeks ago.
00:12:51.480 We actually, um, stacked eight procedures during one anesthesia run.
00:12:55.660 And, um, so he's, yeah, he's the, he's a trooper.
00:12:59.900 Hey dude.
00:13:00.620 And I can see very active.
00:13:02.360 I had quite a few of those little guys.
00:13:05.840 Say bye.
00:13:07.040 Can you say bye?
00:13:08.020 Bye.
00:13:09.280 Okay.
00:13:09.760 I'll be right back.
00:13:10.420 All righty.
00:13:10.960 Maika, can you tell us a little bit about what you've got behind you there?
00:13:14.000 Cause it looks quite interesting.
00:13:15.540 It was Easter about 30 minutes ago and now it is all Hudson.
00:13:19.800 So, um, it was World Down Syndrome Day on Sunday.
00:13:23.400 And this was a bouquet of flowers that we shared with our church.
00:13:26.820 21 yellow roses to symbolize, trust me, 21.
00:13:30.420 The picture is where Hudson was in Times Square with NDSS.
00:13:35.520 Um, above is our other photo that was used for the buddy walk here on the Gulf Coast.
00:13:40.300 And our proclamation from our mayor in Ocean Springs declaring World Down Syndrome Day a perfect day.
00:13:47.580 So beautiful.
00:13:48.080 So beautiful.
00:13:49.360 Now, one last question for you.
00:13:52.100 A lot of parents, when they go into having children in the first place, are really intimidated by your very situation.
00:14:00.600 They are, you know, they dread hearing anything of the sort.
00:14:06.060 Um, what advice would you have for them?
00:14:09.040 You've experienced some real turmoil.
00:14:11.500 Talking to a mom that has been given a diagnosis.
00:14:14.300 I was given the best advice that I could possibly share.
00:14:18.820 Um, one, just take it a day at a time.
00:14:21.820 Don't be hard on yourself.
00:14:23.960 Um, you know, just, just learn what you need to.
00:14:27.320 Your child is going to lead you.
00:14:28.800 It's a beautiful journey.
00:14:30.080 Um, one mom walked into my hospital room when I was there with my heart failure.
00:14:35.460 And, um, she gave me a book about Down Syndrome.
00:14:38.980 And she said, don't read it.
00:14:40.620 And I was like, okay, what's the catch?
00:14:43.920 And, um, she said, no, seriously, take it home.
00:14:47.260 Reference it.
00:14:48.140 Your child will not have everything that is in that book.
00:14:50.920 Don't scare yourself with everything that won't even apply.
00:14:54.700 Just take it one day at a time.
00:14:57.260 Your child will tell you what they need.
00:14:59.300 And you can go and you can reference it.
00:15:01.780 I mean, it's just as simple as that.
00:15:03.640 And that has been my best advice.
00:15:05.880 Um, and I, I've shared that with many.
00:15:08.560 Every child has different abilities.
00:15:11.640 My 23-year-old and my 13-year-old and my 3-year-old are all different.
00:15:16.120 They have different tastes, different styles, different music, and different abilities.
00:15:21.140 My son is good in sports and plays the guitar.
00:15:24.920 And my daughter is, has stacks of books and loves homework.
00:15:30.160 My oldest didn't, but she does.
00:15:33.440 So I just would say that, you know, your, your child, just because a diagnosis has been given,
00:15:38.980 just because you're fearing the unknown, no different than COVID, we've all been living
00:15:43.660 in a fear so we can all understand that and we can relate to what that fear has brought.
00:15:48.060 But embracing life, choosing life, loving life in all of God's forms, he makes no mistakes.
00:15:57.080 Your child is nothing but a beautiful gift from God.
00:16:02.480 And, and, and if your baby has an extra chromosome, you're so lucky.
00:16:08.900 You're welcome to the lucky few club.
00:16:11.640 I mean, at the end of the day, we are a beautiful family and I'm so thankful for this opportunity
00:16:18.460 to be a part of this family.
00:16:20.820 It's, I'm going to start crying, but it really is one of the most beautiful experiences.
00:16:26.240 When Hudson was the Grand Marshal for the Buddy Walk in New York two years ago, I stood on
00:16:31.400 that stage and I looked out at 2,000 faces that I'd never met before.
00:16:35.720 And I was asking them to please call me Aunt Micah.
00:16:38.500 I just want, I just want so badly to be in their family and want them to know I'm here
00:16:43.280 for them.
00:16:43.940 So, and that's how I've approached every day.
00:16:47.020 So just call me Aunt Micah.
00:16:49.540 Aunt Micah.
00:16:50.480 Thank you so very much for being with us on this episode of the John Henry Weston show.
00:16:54.300 May God bless you and little Hudson and all your family.
00:16:56.880 And we'll see you all next time.
00:16:59.000 God bless you.
00:16:59.500 Hi, this is John Henry Weston, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of LifeSite News.
00:17:04.820 I'm coming to you today because we want to be sure that we're communicating clearly with
00:17:10.800 you, our loyal followers.
00:17:12.540 Things are really heating up, as I'm sure you can see.
00:17:16.280 Christians, conservative truth tellers are being targeted, are being banned from social
00:17:21.800 media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram at an alarmingly fast rate.
00:17:28.060 They are attempting to suppress any narrative that does not fit that of the mainstream media.
00:17:34.020 We knew this day would come.
00:17:36.520 We have been warning everyone who would listen and attempting to build up alternative platforms
00:17:41.840 to continue to reach you.
00:17:44.480 We have established ourselves on all sorts of platforms I'm going to explain in a minute,
00:17:48.680 but the most important thing to do is come direct to LifeSiteNews.com because there we
00:17:54.780 will always be.
00:17:55.720 But we've also established ourselves on platforms like Parler and MeWe, and our videos can be
00:18:01.680 found on Rumble as well.
00:18:03.640 We would love to see each of you on those platforms too, as they are not censoring or
00:18:08.860 suppressing the truth that we are sharing every single day.
00:18:12.560 More than these alternative social media platforms, we highly encourage you to subscribe to our email
00:18:18.540 newsletter.
00:18:18.920 We have really built up a large list of loyal readers on our email marketing platform, and
00:18:25.360 we have prepared several backup plans for, well, I want to say if, but it's really when, we
00:18:31.920 are removed from our current platform as well.
00:18:35.080 Additionally, I really encourage you, as I said before, to make it a regular habit to go
00:18:40.480 directly to LifeSiteNews.com.
00:18:42.340 Make it your homepage.
00:18:44.560 While all of these different platforms are an excellent way to curate your news, going
00:18:49.940 directly to our website means that you will never encounter any censorship or sudden loss
00:18:55.500 of LifeSiteNews reporting.
00:18:57.160 Here's the thing.
00:18:58.600 We will never stop sharing the truth.
00:19:01.480 We founded this organization with the mission to be the life, family, and culture source
00:19:07.160 for men and women who seek to know the truth.
00:19:10.620 We have established a track record of honest reports, and this will never stop, even with
00:19:17.140 censorship happening around the globe.
00:19:19.980 Again, I'm encouraging you to join us on Parler, MeWe, Rumble, and on our email list.
00:19:25.980 You can find all the direct links in the description of this video.
00:19:30.640 May God bless you and keep you, and we are so thankful that you've chosen to follow and
00:19:35.660 support LifeSiteNews.
00:19:37.880 I'm John Henry Weston, co-founder and editor-in-chief of LifeSiteNews.
