00:00:00.240 Hello and welcome to this episode of the John Henry Weston Show. We are going to be discussing a new Navy directive that no religious services can be attended by naval sailors, naval officers, anyone.
00:00:14.740 We are going to be talking with a sailor who is a Catholic, whose family is able to go to Mass, but he himself is not. Absolutely ridiculous. We're going to be talking to him. Stay tuned. 0.96
00:00:30.000 Let's begin, as we always do, with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:00:51.220 Amen. First of all, before we start, I wanted to let you know, please share and like this video so that we can get out there to many more people.
00:01:00.080 Also, if you haven't already done so, please send us some support at give.lifesitenews.com so that we're able to bring you this show and all of our many news offerings at lifesitenews.com.
00:01:11.380 Today I've got to bring you something very disturbing indeed. We have found that there is a naval directive forbidding naval sailors and officers from attending mass, in fact, attending any religious service.
00:01:25.860 At the same time, you have the naval allowing for house gatherings of any size. They're able to use public transport. None of it makes any sense.
00:01:35.680 The weird part is, they seem to have deemed religious services non-essential, except the commander-in-chief, President Trump, deemed religious services essential services.
00:01:47.400 Today I'm identifying houses of worship, churches, synagogues, and mosques as essential places that provide essential services.
00:02:01.760 Some governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential, but have left out churches and other houses of worship.
00:02:10.940 It's not right. So I'm correcting this injustice and calling houses of worship essential.
00:02:19.060 We're going to talk to, in a few minutes, someone from the Navy itself who is a practicing Catholic, whose family are able to go to mass.
00:02:28.280 And he, since, I believe it is June 24th when the order came down, has been unable to do so.
00:02:34.120 It's absolutely unjust.
00:02:36.160 At LifeSite News, we have a petition going that has nearly 10,000 signatures right now to urge the Navy to reconsider this insanity.
00:02:46.920 To listen and obey the commander-in-chief who has deemed religious services essential and revoke this really ridiculous order.
00:02:55.700 Let's go right now to our sailor who has contacted us with this news.
00:03:02.740 Tell us, in a nutshell, if you could, what exactly is going on in the Navy right now?
00:03:08.580 Well, right now our command, Navy-wide, has told us that we cannot go to any religious indoor services because of the uptick in coronavirus and that.
00:03:24.900 So right now we just can't go and we can't receive any sacraments.
00:03:28.380 This includes confession.
00:03:29.860 And, yeah, that's about it right now for us.
00:03:33.600 That's the main one.
00:03:34.300 Yeah, just unbelievable.
00:03:35.480 This order came down, as I understand it, June 24th.
00:03:37.860 Is that correct?
00:03:40.740 Yes, that was the first that we had heard of it.
00:03:43.180 So if that was last Friday, I believe that was the first that any of us had heard that this was going to happen.
00:03:49.840 And then it wasn't until the following Monday where everything kind of had to be put into place.
00:03:55.640 Okay.
00:03:56.200 And so this issue is obviously very harmful for you, for your family as a Catholic.
00:04:02.920 And your family, though, is able to go to Mass, but you yourself are not able to.
00:04:07.160 Yeah, that's the main reason why I think myself have felt that this was unlawful, because they could still technically, in the fears of the Navy, contract corona and bring it back.
00:04:21.640 So it didn't seem like this was really helping the situation any.
00:04:25.340 It seemed like this was just putting a Band-Aid over a problem, or a problem that they believed was there.
00:04:34.220 And perhaps even worse than that, the Navy has still said people can have house parties of any size.
00:04:44.300 Yes, and that, and using transportation, mass transportation and that.
00:04:49.860 But it's limited that they're supposed to be using, but still, this is essential for us Catholics.
00:04:58.840 We grew up that way, knowing that the mass was essential.
00:05:02.560 So to have someone else tell us that it's not, it doesn't go along with what we've been taught in our lives.
00:05:09.080 Yeah, and well, that's actually what's most incredible to me and to many of us, is that the commander-in-chief, who, as I understand it, still is commander-in-chief over the Navy as well, has called religious services essential services.
00:05:23.300 He made such an order, and yet it seems to be being ignored completely.
00:05:28.040 Yes, so I don't know where this seemed to come out of left field.
00:05:31.540 We weren't expecting this at all, especially with the states opening up, opening up the churches, even if it was for limited capacity.
00:05:42.000 Just knowing that we were finally able to go to mass again was good for us, I think, psychologically and spiritually.
00:05:51.740 And finally, all of a sudden, get a curveball come at us.
00:05:55.500 We just weren't expecting it.
00:05:56.900 Yeah, well, absolutely.
00:05:58.500 One of the comments that you made on the story was that, you know, this is really harmful because it deprives the sailors and really the ones out there to protect their countries from the graces they need to do so, even from confession while going into perhaps into peril.
00:06:18.320 Yes, and right now, too, even, you know, I've heard from governors and some higher ups that, you know, we are in a war against Corona.
00:06:31.100 Well, if that's the case, then what more reason to have the sacraments for us so that we can do this battle that our nation is asking us to be on the front lines with?
00:06:44.120 And so not having that, it can be, I definitely believe it will be detrimental to the Navy and to the other services, too, if they follow suit.
00:06:55.840 Yeah, yeah.
00:06:56.760 Now, how has your faith played into your service to your country?
00:07:02.300 Well, I've always looked to my faith to guide me, and my faith has always taught me that God comes first, our nation, and then our family.
00:07:16.600 So, when that's out of order, and we're putting our nation before God and saying that he's not essential, then something's wrong.
00:07:26.400 And, you know, we fight for everybody in the United States to have these freedoms.
00:07:32.340 So, us, ourselves, not having them, it shows that there's a little bit of a backwards thinking within our nation, unfortunately, and that we need to put things back in order, starting with God first.
00:07:47.140 Amen. Amen.
00:07:48.640 If you had a message for your superiors in the Navy, what would that be?
00:07:52.940 You know, just to rethink this, definitely talk to the Archbishop of the Diocese of the Military and get his take on it.
00:08:08.500 Hopefully, he, too, will step up and defend us in this time that we need.
00:08:13.860 And he's got a large following or flock, if you will.
00:08:20.000 But we need him, too, to step up and talk to these commanders and let them know that, hey, this is paramount for the sailors and for the mission.
00:08:33.120 And if he can do that, I think we could get a change in what these commanders have implemented.
00:08:39.500 There are about 10,000 people or so who have signed on to a petition to support you and all sailors in the Navy to rights to their religious services.
00:08:52.040 What's your message for them?
00:08:54.840 Just to keep praying, especially the rosary.
00:08:57.780 I think we all need to get on our knees and be praying, doing reparations for our sins and praying to God that he will help us during this time.
00:09:09.500 To accept what his will is.
00:09:14.880 If he wants us to continue to do this battle and not have the masses, give us the strength that we need.
00:09:20.680 We definitely need it.
00:09:23.460 But, yes, the rosary is paramount right now.
00:09:26.900 Amen.
00:09:28.100 Well, on behalf of all of us here at LifeSite News, all of our readers, and the many, many petition signers,
00:09:34.320 I want to really thank you for your service to the country and also for your great fame.
00:09:40.960 Thank you, John Henry.
00:09:41.980 God bless you.
00:09:44.000 And finally, let me say, we really need to take action.
00:09:47.380 We need to heed the advice of this sailor who serves his country,
00:09:51.700 of this man who strives with his family to serve the nation and protect America from her enemies.
00:09:58.880 He's also obviously striving to bring America back to God.
00:10:03.480 And so let's support him with our prayers.
00:10:05.120 Let's do as he says.
00:10:06.080 Let's pray the rosary that the superiors in the Navy might reconsider this absolutely outrageous order.
00:10:14.040 I would urge you to go to lifepetitions.com and sign our petition asking the Navy to revoke this order.
00:10:22.620 Let's support President Trump in his call for religious services to be recognized as essential services,
00:10:31.200 exactly what they are.
00:10:32.660 And let's quit the hypocrisy which allows for mass rioting demonstrations,
00:10:38.400 house parties, and outdoor gatherings of any size,
00:10:42.760 while at the same time forbidding the holy sacrifice of the mass.
00:10:47.520 For LifeSite News, this is John Henry Weston, and may God bless you.
