00:03:14.620 So, many thought that he would rebuild or try to rebuild the Jewish Temple as a way of accomplishing this deception.

00:03:24.320 They all thought that by the end of his reign, he would be imposing a bloody persecution on the Church,

00:03:33.380 and indeed of all religion, and requiring the whole world to worship him,

00:03:39.660 as well as throwing off any pretense of being the Mashiach by that point.

00:03:44.900 Yet, these Catholic authorities thought that before this, the Antichrist would first deceive the world and impose some other religious deception.

00:03:55.640 After all, it doesn't seem very likely that the Jewish people, most of whom are so opposed to the idea of a divine Messiah,

00:04:04.180 will jump straight to worshiping him as a god.

00:04:07.280 That's why some of these great authorities said that he would not only rebuild the Temple,

00:04:13.860 but would also restore and glorify the rights of the old Jewish religion, like animal sacrifice,

00:04:20.860 and impose other rights, like circumcision.

00:04:25.280 But some of these writers get even more specific.

00:04:29.240 They say that the religious deception brought by the Antichrist will be linked to the Jewish religion,

00:04:35.880 rather than actually being the Jewish religion itself.

00:04:39.520 It would just be linked to it, and this other thing would actually be imposed on the world.

00:04:45.280 So, that makes sense internally for the Jewish religion,

00:04:48.500 because Judaism is generally understood as being for the Jewish people,

00:04:54.220 and while they accept converts, it's not like Christianity,

00:04:58.600 which wants to see the whole wide world adopt the true religion and be subject to Christ the King,

00:05:49.900 the redemption of man, his sanctification in Christ, and ultimate happiness in heaven.

00:05:56.460 It could either be the rejection of Christ's revelation directly,

00:06:00.580 or treating it as if it doesn't really matter.

00:06:03.340 And it happens on a personal level, and on a societal level, and everything in between.
