00:06:06.080 And if you meet him, we've only met him briefly, he also doesn't seem real then as well.
00:06:10.860 He's performed many remarkable feats that I would say would have been regarded as impossible before he did them.
00:06:20.680 And so we're going to talk to him today about what those feats are and how he thinks he manages it.

00:06:37.220 You talk a lot about cold therapy and meditation.
00:06:41.540 And you've done things like injected, had endotoxin injected into you,

00:06:50.680 So could we maybe start with, how did you get started with, say, the cold therapy that you teach?

00:07:24.500 For a long time I was a seeker.
00:07:27.560 But any seeker becomes a finder.
00:07:32.160 I became a finder of a way wherein I could feel, connect, deeper.
00:07:41.380 I was looking through philosophies and debating into what it is to feel deeper,
00:07:48.940 to have a deeper understanding of myself.
00:07:50.920 And that, deeper understanding, that came not through debating and philosophizing,
00:08:00.640 but it came like in a moment, in an instant, by going after I was attracted to go into cold water.
00:08:09.640 I was not sure why.
00:08:12.420 It was a gut feeling.
00:08:14.360 A seeker became a finder there.
00:08:16.660 I went into the cold water.
00:08:19.120 And instantly, that brought me in a deeper physiological depth of myself.
00:08:25.940 And it was like, this is it.
00:08:29.520 Feeling.
00:08:30.940 Okay.
00:08:31.500 So, first of all, how old were you when that happened?
00:08:34.700 And second, do you have any sense of what attracted you to the cold water?
00:08:41.380 This is a gut feeling.
00:08:42.780 A gut feeling got me to the cold water.
00:08:45.080 After debating for years and philosophizing and trying out all kinds of stuff,
00:08:51.280 then at a certain moment, the gut takes over.
00:08:56.340 It's there.
00:08:57.000 And your gut tells what to do.
00:09:01.380 But we mostly follow the thoughts and what we think of things instead of following what we feel deeply inside.
00:09:11.940 We get disconnected therefrom, alienated therefrom.
00:09:16.700 But I followed that gut feeling.
00:09:18.680 I went in, and that is 44 years ago.
00:09:23.360 And since then, I every day went into the cold.
00:09:28.640 In all the winters.
00:09:31.260 You know, in Minneapolis and up there in the U.S., it's also cold in the wintertime.
00:09:38.440 I went every day outside swimming or walking through the snow barefoot.
00:09:44.560 But sometimes I even could stay a whole night in shorts outside in freezing temperatures just because I wanted to discover something that was not known.
00:09:59.980 That was crazy, according to the people.
00:10:04.040 And all that, I took it on because I felt so good.
00:10:07.520 And nobody can say, hey, if you love somebody, they can say, it's not good for you, that person.
00:10:13.720 You go.
00:10:15.840 So I went regardless of what they said.
00:10:20.840 And that was for at least 25 years until I met radio and television.
00:10:28.200 And then, boom, I went all over the world because apparently I had gone where nobody had gone before.
00:10:37.180 That gut feeling led me into the depth of the physiology.

00:10:44.920 After meeting the scientists and doing first 26 world records and so many more challenges outside in hostile temperature environments,
00:10:56.840 like beyond the polar circle, run a full marathon in your shorts or swim record distances under the ice, just breath hold in shorts.

00:11:19.140 I mean, that's the naked truth of our body.

00:11:32.860 If you want to challenge something in your body which is connected to your brain,
00:11:39.380 the neurology of the body, the vascular system, it's in the brain.
00:11:44.060 There is the steering wheel.
00:11:45.660 If you want to change the mind and the perception and the consciousness,
00:11:50.820 you've got to expose yourself to the hardships of nature and learn to control fear.

00:12:11.320 We showed through these breathing techniques,
00:12:14.840 driven from going into the cold, 44 years, field work I did, breathing.
00:12:23.080 What do you do when you go into the cold?
00:12:25.960 You become alive in the depth.
00:12:28.940 You nourish yourself with oxygen, with life force, and you learn how to do that.
00:12:34.720 And then deeper mechanisms, they become connected to your will's neurology.
00:12:41.500 Last study I did, I showed in a brain scan, having cold water coming up on my skin,
00:12:49.380 just by my thought, I could make the skin temperature not going down.
00:12:55.560 That is a deep connection with the stress mechanisms in our brain.
00:13:00.280 We live in comfort zone behavior all the time, everywhere in the world.
00:13:05.640 And then we ask why we have uncontrollable inflammation going on and we can't do anything.
00:13:11.560 Because we never connected with the deep physiology.
00:13:15.200 Nature does not want you to be sick or depressed.
00:13:19.900 Because this is outside the functionality of nature.
00:13:23.620 In nature, you should be happy, strong, and healthy.
00:13:26.520 Because you've got to be alert for the danger.

00:13:37.020 You're going to die because of the environmental stress factors and all.
00:13:43.140 This is the way our physiology works.
00:13:46.460 And we alienate it from that.
00:13:49.040 Because we think we are with our extension tools that we control nature.
00:13:53.740 We do not even control our happiness, strength, and health.
00:13:58.480 We go to the moon.
00:14:00.360 While here on the earth, we have all the stress.

00:14:05.400 We don't know what we do.
00:14:07.480 Because we lost the connection with who we are in the depth.
00:14:12.840 And this is what I've been doing up till now.
00:14:16.280 I have pledged myself when I was 12 years, I'm going to do something about this.

00:14:27.060 Because I think war, pollution, abuse, exploitation, all these things.

00:15:16.340 And right now, the last conversation I had with Dr. Kevin Tracy, who is in the board for the jury for Nobel Prize winners in the medical area.

00:15:31.500 And he saw me influencing deeply into the vagus nerve.
00:15:35.660 And the vagus nerve that is considered to be autonomic outside of our will.

00:15:40.740 If you are able to control or influence deeply into the vagus nerve, you are able to bring down inflammation, which is cause and effect of disease.
00:15:51.980 We found the answers in nature.
00:15:53.880 Can you describe, in any way that would be comprehensible to someone who didn't know how to do it, how you manage such things as control over the vagus nerve?

00:16:05.920 The vagus nerve and the autonomic nervous system, the immune system, and the endocrine system.
00:16:11.460 All those were thought to be out of our willful control.
00:16:18.580 In 2014, I showed, as the first one in medical science, to be able to be injected and then have no symptoms with the E. coli bacteria, which can be lethal.
00:16:33.260 It's a strong bacteria, and it causes the cytokine storm.
00:16:41.260 Cytokine storm is inflammatory markers going berserk within our body because it doesn't not know what's happening.
00:16:49.580 And everything is an alarm, and it can damage our system.

00:16:55.020 That's COVID as well.

00:17:56.880 And this breathing technique, apparently, it's an amazing technique, which is not known nowhere, because I found it out by going into cold water.

00:18:38.320 I learned that through deep breathing, I was able to prolong my stay in cold water like tenfold.
