00:00:34.700 well welcome to this episode of the king's hall podcast i'm one of your hosts eric khan
00:00:59.200 joined today by the cut svelte brian so thank you eric i as always needed that your voice sounds a
00:01:07.360 little tired eric uh no reason why no reason uh it is actually funny we just got done with the
00:01:13.040 conference uh 2026 so we're doing a recap brian we were talking about this but like even preaching
00:01:19.440 yesterday during the service yeah like we we have both sounded like teenagers at multiple points
00:01:24.700 with cracking cracking voices yeah a lot of talking yeah a lot of talking i think i've been
00:01:31.760 talking for 18 hours a day for six days straight at this point which is really good for your vocal
00:01:37.740 folds so i'm feeling good well i mean i i really wonder how many words were spoken because when
00:01:43.760 you factor in like mixers yeah talks and then just being on the the floor talking to so many
00:01:52.080 different people, hundreds of people. Yeah. I mean, I like talking, but I got to the point,
00:01:57.100 but like we were riding home and my wife, she was, she was like, this is the quietest I've
00:02:00.720 ever seen you. And I was like, literally my vocal cords don't work. They're just singing, uh, at
00:02:05.700 church, uh, conducting the singing on Sunday. I will not lie. I was lip syncing, but not because
00:02:11.540 I was trying, not trying to make sounds come out, but they just were not, they would no longer
00:02:16.160 come out of the the vocal apparatus so it was uh luck you know praise god the the people held it
00:02:22.820 down they they they showed up and sang so our vocal cords are like power lifters after a power
00:02:29.060 lifting competition yeah i think it is equally i would actually put a little bit more strongly i
00:02:33.840 would say that our vocal cords are kind of like aragorn after helms deep something a little
00:02:40.980 more heroic you know something something like that our vocal cords have been on the ride of
00:02:45.300 the row here. Let's go. So great conference, obviously a war for normal. This year was
00:02:53.720 interesting to me. It's the biggest one we've had. Yep. You know, we started with 200 people
00:02:58.560 four years ago. Is that right? Four years ago, four years ago, 200 people, like, what are we
00:03:04.600 kind of, what are we doing here? And like, how do we do a conference? Yeah. It kind of shocked me.
00:03:09.100 I think Ben at one point asked like who is here for the first time. Yeah. There was a lot of hands.
00:03:14.420 way more than I expected. Yeah. We had people had been there all four years, which was like
00:03:19.360 obviously a small group. We had people that were there a couple of times, but yeah, probably
00:03:22.840 over half. Like, no, I've, I've never actually been to the conference, which was really amazing
00:03:28.480 to meet all those folks. And yeah, uh, just like some of the highest quality. I feel like every
00:03:33.740 single year, the quality of, of men, women, families, like one thing I noticed this year,
00:03:40.000 we have more kids than we've ever had at the conference because we said let's make it as
00:03:44.940 affordable as possible let's launch the family plat pass that lowered the cost for the average
00:03:48.940 family by like 40 to 50 percent yeah with kids and so we had tons of kids but they were not
00:03:55.840 disruptive no there was very little like it was actually similar to a church service at our church
00:04:01.040 where the kids are really well trained and so they don't wild and like run up and down the aisles or
00:04:06.420 anything like that but it was it was very impressive those were especially when you
00:04:10.320 consider like they were there like two full days the kids are like this is the worst thing that's
00:04:17.100 ever happened to me i did have to laugh yet again it was like sunday and we're doing the picnic
00:04:22.080 and all the kids and they're like two lines and they were like we got knights out there and like
00:04:27.340 battle armor yes and the kids are marching at each other some of them had been planning for
00:04:32.160 weeks they were like we're gonna do our stick fight at the at the picnic they had some wiggles
00:04:36.300 to get out yeah they had been building them up and it was uh it was unreal so thank you everybody
00:04:42.160 that came all the families like we were just very very thankful yeah um to you guys for for being
00:04:48.680 there yeah so brian with all that we we had a phenomenal time yeah um but a little bit of
00:04:54.240 online kerfuffle that we it was it was kind of interesting we're closing down the conference
00:04:58.800 it's like saturday night everybody is like this is like what day three thousand of the conference
00:05:05.400 it felt like when you've been in the preparation too oh my goodness like the amount of work it
00:05:10.540 takes to pull off something like this with 1500 plus guests you know a ton of auxiliary events
00:05:16.340 and legitimately like just a shout out to our church and all of our people unbelievable so
00:05:21.280 many people put in so many hours of work and we talked about it the week before as a church like
00:05:27.020 to be hospitable yeah let's let's show these people love to show love to these all these
00:05:32.020 people who've traveled so many miles to be here with their kids or families they're the number of
00:05:37.020 like 15 passenger vans in the parking lot was inspiring truly yeah it swelled the population
00:05:42.820 of utah significantly so then we see all this going on on social media people were demanding
00:05:47.800 like immediate responses and we're like literally still in the third hour of talking to people like
00:05:54.100 haven't opened my phone and we have to prepare for sunday worship because preaching the next
00:05:58.960 morning this was the other crazy thing like i was just blown away how many people stayed
00:06:03.580 like somewhere around 13 1400 people for worship yeah just unbelievable so then people were like
00:06:11.800 okay why aren't you responding immediately to this and we're like we actually still have to
00:06:16.560 play host uh and love the people who are here yeah but here we are we're responding and and
00:06:23.300 so, yeah, I just want to ask you about that. What happened for people? Maybe I make a lot
00:06:27.740 of people actually aren't on social media. Yeah. Some people will have no idea what we're talking
00:06:31.360 about. It's social media can feel like the whole world. It was a good reminder on the Lord's day
00:06:35.880 yesterday, worshiping with everybody and then fellowshipping over lunch and the picnic afterward,
00:06:40.720 um, hearing from a bunch of people that were just like, you know, that what they took away
00:06:45.640 from the conference versus if you had just like only the internet, what you would think we were
00:06:50.620 doing is like, people would think that it was a goose stepping like SS March around Weber and
00:06:58.220 Davis County. And that, you know, people were like chanting and German and calling for acts
00:07:04.480 of violence or something. And it was more like, you know, hanging out, talking about parenting
00:07:09.760 and local political engagement, like being good churchmen and all of that.
00:07:14.400 Building a productive household. Yeah. Even the questions, I just want to say,
00:07:18.640 Even the questions that we were fielding from people, like it was all pastoral.
00:07:23.300 Yeah.
00:07:23.420 We brought all of the whole session of Refuge Church on the stage for a 60 or 90 minute
00:07:28.360 Q&A live.
00:07:29.320 We're just, Hey, let's go around with a mic.
00:07:30.920 And what are your questions?
00:07:32.460 Because we've gotten the sense over the years that, you know, we talk a lot about church
00:07:36.980 and culture and politics and stuff on King's Hall and a lot of our shows.
00:07:41.500 But we just kept getting the sense like what people are hungry for too.
00:07:45.960 They care about that stuff.
00:07:47.140 but it's like, how do I be a good dad? How do I discipline? Hey, I see your church. There are a
00:07:52.600 lot of, a lot of kids, but there are also a lot of well-behaved kids. How do you, how do you
00:07:57.320 discipline? How do you? A lot of questions about how to honor parents. We talked a ton about the,
00:08:03.460 the concept of honoring up the chain of hierarchy. Yeah. How you, you know, talk to your real Zionist
00:08:08.960 dad or something. And like, it's just not about converting your parents to all of your niche
00:08:13.680 boutique beliefs or whatever, but just really doing a good job. So we talked about that,
00:08:18.900 honoring your pastors, giving them, um, you know, the, don't go in over six months, develop like
00:08:25.920 18 beliefs that are contrary to your, your normal church life, and then present them to your pastor
00:08:31.840 as a fait accompli, but actually give them the courtesy of like, Hey, I've been looking at us.
00:08:36.620 Tell me if you think I shouldn't, you know, whether it's patriarchy or pedo baptism or
00:08:41.000 whatever. Because as pastors, we're constantly, we're real pastoral ministry. Like every once in
00:08:48.080 a while, you'll have someone come to you and say, Hey, you know, for eight months, I've been studying
00:08:51.280 Roman Catholicism and I'm converting. You're like, well, it would have been nice to know that like
00:08:55.960 earlier. So we could talk about it. So people are sometimes surprised to hear us say this, but
00:09:03.000 we are constantly telling people before Breit Hearth or the King's Hall, like brings you all
00:09:09.780 the way down, whatever. And we only say what we think is true. Even so, don't be disruptive to
00:09:18.580 your church. Honor your elders. Give them the opportunity to be good, honorable elders who
00:09:23.800 persuade you and are involved in overseeing. And then, yeah, you can still change your mind on
00:09:28.880 things and adopt new positions and even decide that I can no longer submit in good conscience
00:09:34.340 in a certain church, but do it in the right order and do it in an orderly fashion that honors the
00:09:39.760 hierarchies God built into the world. So all that to say the 30,000 foot view of the, of the like
00:09:46.720 smoke bombs that have just been lobbed over the conference online that everyone's freaking out
00:09:52.100 about and demanding denunciations from us and explanations. And so there, first of all, there's
00:09:57.500 why we didn't give you instant internet play-by-plays because we were, frankly, we were
00:10:03.920 busy. Okay. Serving people. We were busy, like we're busy. So, um, we had, uh, as we do every
00:10:11.860 year with conferences, we have lots of different businesses and productive households from small
00:10:19.080 businesses that are households to, uh, and like solo entrepreneurs to larger businesses that
00:10:24.500 sponsor various auxiliary events or have a booth at the sponsor area. That's like in the next room
00:10:30.820 This year we had 52 sponsors in that room and like just, man, some high quality, absolutely phenomenal family Christian businesses over there.
00:10:43.780 And we had one sponsor that was there, which was a publishing house.
00:10:48.640 They're called Antelope Hill.
00:10:49.880 And they publish, we'll get into it.
00:10:52.160 They publish varying historical works, a lot of them surrounding political ideology of the 20th century.
00:10:58.300 A lot of it World War II related.
00:11:00.820 they're republishing controversial banned books type of stuff. They're publishing Hitler's
00:11:06.500 speeches translated into English. Um, they're, you know, they have a lot of different things
00:11:12.740 like that going on. That's the main thing they do. They're not a Christian business.
00:11:17.540 They're actually a secular business or that doesn't mean nobody involved are Christians
00:11:23.920 of varying traditions from what I understand, uh, at this point, but, um, that's their,
00:11:28.980 that's their their kind of thing and so uh some of the usual suspects on twitter all you know all
00:11:34.920 of a sudden just organically discovered meaning they were hovering over our every move waiting
00:11:40.700 for once whatever thing they thought could most freak the most number of people out and paint us
00:11:47.640 in the worst possible light that they could conceive of that would be at least related to
00:11:53.040 something that might possibly be true and so they you know oh look at these books that are being
00:11:58.960 sold Hitler's speeches. And, um, and then, so that, that was one aspect of it, but then related
00:12:05.220 to that, um, the, the business Antelope Hill, they, um, which we've learned since then, this
00:12:12.040 was not something that we knew, but they have a flyer that they keep, um, that they like hand
00:12:18.420 out with purchases. So if you buy a book, they're like, give you this flyer. And it's, uh, from,
00:12:23.320 from their perspective, these are some businesses that, or people that are kind of aligned with us
00:12:28.580 on something or other, again, a secular business. So to them, it was a pretty broad coalition.
00:12:34.540 Generally, I think they try to say like, these are groups that we consider pro-white. So that
00:12:39.360 are like for the Western and nationalist view of preserving Western European culture, Anglo
00:12:46.980 culture in America, and that sort of thing, which as we've spoken to many times, we think is a very
00:12:52.060 important issue today in light of the full court press of multiculturalism and, you know,
00:12:58.300 unlimited infinity immigration and replacement migration and the collapse of birth rates and
00:13:02.820 all the things we've talked about a zillion times on the King's hall. Um, why, you know,
00:13:08.080 someone hears that and they go, that's crazy. But it's, if you just know our published works,
00:13:12.380 it's like that we'd care about something like that for the reason we've said before. And on this,
00:13:18.860 this list though, there were all sorts of stuff. Um, some of them like literal paganism, like
00:13:27.080 tarot cards and you know like stuff that we would never in a million years want to distribute to
00:13:36.040 people or have our name associated with stuff that like even hey do you want to be pro-white
00:13:41.980 well then don't give them demon cards or like a trashy men i think there's a trashy men's magazine
00:13:48.000 that had some questionable imagery people were saying it like linked to pornography sites i
00:13:52.620 actually think that was just a rumor it's not true but uh i'm not we had our guys go through
00:13:57.740 and look at every link after the fact i think it was more like red pill adjacent yeah which is
00:14:02.840 definitely from our perspective there's probably stuff in it that we go yeah that's pornographic
00:14:06.860 and we're not for that um so so that's both of those things together those are kind of two
00:14:12.100 separate things this link issue on the the flyer and then the like actual publishing house and what
00:14:18.560 they publish is another separate issue. I think we can talk about both. Um, but really briefly,
00:14:25.080 here's how they ended up there at the sponsor village. And then here's what we think of that
00:14:31.460 and what we, what we've done. So they ended up there because when you're planning a conference
00:14:36.420 of the size that we are, you know, it's now 1500 plus people. We sold out of literally every event
00:14:42.020 that we had. They were, we had to close because we were out of room. We added seats. Like we did
00:14:47.040 everything we could, but we were sold out. Um, one of our main guys who, who works at New
00:14:53.480 Christian and press has been in the event AV conference industry for more than a decade
00:14:58.620 and has told us like, you know, an event this size usually has at least one and sometimes
00:15:05.260 multiple full-time employees just doing the event for like a year. It's actually incredible to me
00:15:11.460 how much work it is like the first year like when it was 200 people okay that's what it was it felt
00:15:17.960 like an insane amount of work with that but now that the thing is like 1500 plus i mean multiple
00:15:24.080 multiple events across multiple days yeah just the amount of logistics and decisions that go
00:15:30.060 into this process i think you said at one point too it's like for months ahead of time yeah you
00:15:35.580 have like 20 decisions a day a day yeah that you're trying to sort through av decisions craft
00:15:42.260 design decisions marketing decisions we had a golf tournament we a full golf tournament with 60
00:15:46.180 participants we had a full games competition with preliminary applications and like a whole
00:15:51.240 different venue which by the way in 2023 indigo sundries became one of our sponsors at the time
00:16:03.640 their business was little more than a side hobby, generating a couple hundred dollars a month. But
00:16:07.920 because of their partnership with us, and because all of you chose to support them, they've grown
00:16:11.720 enough to make it their full-time livelihood. This is what happens when Christians support
00:16:15.300 Christians. Our communities are strengthened and faithful businesses thrive. So if you're a
00:16:19.200 Christian business owner who wants to reach thousands of like-minded people and grow your
00:16:23.020 company, we'd love to partner with you. Email us at advertising at newchristendompress.com.
00:16:29.220 was legit i mean the golf tournament i'm not gonna say who won
00:16:36.340 it was our team so just it was the meme obama actually yeah we had somebody post where like
00:16:45.120 it was brian giving brian an award at the awards it was pre-cut brian that was pretty diabolical
00:16:49.500 actually you know this this was a huge miss on the conference the number of photos of us that
00:16:54.440 are old that were used that is like pre-cut Brian. Yeah, that was, it was good for me to say, hold
00:17:00.460 the line, hold the line. You can't go back. Maintain. I've just seen that. Sorry to interrupt.
00:17:05.080 So anyway, um, yeah, in the, in the course of a conference, the logistics are insane. I'm not,
00:17:10.800 you know, complaining. It's just, it's just is what it is. It's worth the effort, but it's huge.
00:17:15.360 We have, you know, dozens and dozens of volunteers on taking security seriously for our attendees,
00:17:21.220 protecting them physically um in setting up and tearing down and being good guests at the
00:17:28.320 conference center and not trashing their facility in making sure everybody knows where to go getting
00:17:33.660 the emails getting registration like all of this stuff in conjunction with that we have a team that
00:17:39.180 is working on because these are very expensive and we genuinely our conference is less than half
00:17:44.440 the price of the of another conference i'm aware of that's similar in our space to come to like
00:17:49.400 less than half. Yeah. And for like a whole family, a lot of families are spending a thousand
00:17:53.720 to $1,500 on tickets alone by the time all their kids get tickets. Ours was $300 for the whole
00:17:59.240 family. Yeah. Okay. So insane amount of work. Um, we have a team that's working on sponsors
00:18:06.220 and a team that's like, Hey, let's, let's find Christian businesses who will come in and, um,
00:18:10.900 that we, you know, would do a, would come bring a booth and sell the, a lot of it is more like,
00:18:16.300 you know, handmade ceramic goods or, um, you know, handmade soaps and different things like
00:18:23.180 that. Great Christian businesses, which is what we, we focus on it at new Christian and press
00:18:29.040 is in finding sponsors who are good Christian businesses that we want to say, let's keep our
00:18:35.320 dollars in the community of saints. If you're going to buy coffee anyway, you should buy coffee
00:18:40.700 from Lux coffee because Lux coffee, those are our guys. And that's a Christian who's going to pay
00:18:46.280 his rent and you're going to buy coffee anyway. So that's what we're all about with these.
00:18:51.580 And we've got guys selling those. And we had over 150 inquiries again, brought in more than 50
00:18:59.040 individual booths. And in that process, each one of those, first of all, Eric and I are not like,
00:19:05.800 we actually now next year, every year after the conference, we do a whole week long debrief. Like
00:19:09.880 what do we need to do better next year? And this is one of them now where it's like, yeah, Eric
00:19:13.460 and I actually need to do a real look through before anything's approved on a, on a sponsor
00:19:18.400 table. And, and really like from one of the main reasons, even thinking about Antelope Hill being
00:19:24.100 there is like, because we actually do want to support Christian businesses and the Christian
00:19:28.720 economy being there. And so, yeah, like there's one where again, there was no discreet, let's go
00:19:38.060 deep dive and like, let's run down the amount of work to do that with 52 booths. If Eric and I were
00:19:43.900 doing it or like even our team, it becomes sort of prohibitive in the past as we've been a little
00:19:50.060 smaller and have been growing. Um, it was much easier just to kind of assume like, Hey, every,
00:19:55.820 every booth that's there, they're going to be like our Christian business sponsors and stuff like
00:19:59.720 that. But now as it's gotten bigger, you do start to get people that we actually don't know that
00:20:04.600 well. So Antelope Hill, we'll talk about those two issues, by the way, the books and about the
00:20:10.120 flyer, but the way that they ended up on the list, just to be honest, like, I don't know if this will
00:20:15.920 probably make some people mad and probably disappoint other people's whatever. It wasn't
00:20:19.340 like we're going and recruiting them or anything. My level of understanding of Antelope Hill
00:20:26.060 before the conference, pretty much through the conference was I own a book of theirs that I
00:20:31.280 haven't yet read that I got as a gift at Christmas. And it's a book about, I'm actually
00:20:37.340 not even a hundred. It's like the sword of Christ. Yeah. It's mostly like I have a book. I've read
00:20:41.720 it. Yeah. Um, yeah. Basically about like anti Zionism, like what's the problem with Zionism
00:20:46.940 in America? What's the truth behind the movement? John Nelson Darby. Okay. Yeah. That sort of thing.
00:20:51.960 So I have that book on my shelf and I intend to read it. It looks like a good book and an
00:20:56.820 interesting book. And like many other books, a book that you go through and you say like way
00:21:00.340 the different aspects of and say, this is interesting and formative. What's true? What
00:21:03.560 do I agree with? What do I disagree with? You know, just a normal book. And I was aware that
00:21:08.100 they did that. And then I was aware of that they republished basically. It's like you think about
00:21:14.740 the reformed resourcement movement where you go and find what did Junius say? What was, you know,
00:21:20.680 what has been only published in Latin or in a, in a language that hasn't yet reached our
00:21:25.780 publications and then like reformation heritage or banner or whatever, they're going to go try to
00:21:31.180 edit and bring to publication again, these books that have been lost. And I, and I was aware that
00:21:36.720 they kind of did that with like, I, I think I had seen something related to the Spanish civil war,
00:21:43.480 but then also a lot of pro like, what, what did Hitler say? What, what actually happened in the
00:21:50.120 Third Reich? What was the economic reality? What were the speeches being given in their actual
00:21:55.840 content? And so, um, that was pretty much the level of awareness. And then, you know, at some
00:22:02.040 point they were on our list and it just, it was like, there you go. Yeah. I think we had maybe
00:22:08.380 like 150 companies reach out, you got 52 spaces and a lot of those just didn't end up through it.
00:22:14.980 I think the other thing to say too, as we're going through this, like we take full responsibility
00:22:18.540 for the people. Oh yeah. Every, every one of them. I'm not trying to throw our staff on it. This is
00:22:22.160 just, yeah, here's a hole in our, in our process in, um, saying we actually in the, as we've gotten
00:22:30.840 bigger now, we're going to make sure we look at everybody here. So let, let's just, I think,
00:22:34.280 talk about those two issues with, with antelope Hill and where we, what we actually think about
00:22:38.800 them. And again, our goal is literally, this is going to sound crazy. Our goal is just to tell
00:22:45.740 you the truth about what we think about various things, which is kind of what we do here at the
00:22:50.560 King's Hall. And it often gets us in trouble. Like we had a recent clip about black culture,
00:22:55.720 which was very popular in the black community and popular in the sense that a lot of people
00:23:00.900 in the black community shared it, which I took to mean popularity. And we did get protested for
00:23:06.280 several months as a church because of this clip. And it started with us adjudicating the issue of
00:23:10.740 like, Hey, are we a church that doesn't allow anybody other than a white person to be a member?
00:23:16.060 And we said, no, that no, we actually have black member. We have various, we we're in Utah. So we
00:23:21.560 have quite a, quite a large white membership, but we also have other, other racial makeup in our
00:23:27.960 church as well. So we said, no, they just can't practice black culture. Here's what we mean by
00:23:31.920 that. Like they couldn't be in a, in like a ghetto gang banging type of thing, obviously. So that
00:23:37.520 was like a 60 second moment in a whole episode. And then people freaked out about it. But what
00:23:42.400 that was is just, we were telling the truth about, and if you actually know the state of
00:23:46.620 the discourse right now, what I just said would be controversial among some right-wing circles
00:23:52.080 for not being pro-white enough. It would be controversial in many more circles for being
00:23:58.340 allegedly racist or, you know, whatever scary word you want to throw at us. But we try to just
00:24:03.420 tell you what we actually think yeah so what do we actually think about those two issues starting
00:24:10.000 with the project of publishing hitler's speeches historical resourcement from world war ii now
00:24:18.780 we've talked about this a lot that uh world war ii both world wars really much of the 20th century
00:24:26.520 but World War II especially, has come to be, and a certain telling of it, the founding myth of the
00:24:34.680 liberal order that arose in the late 1940s and on down to today that dominates our society.
00:24:44.520 Andrew Isker gave a talk at our conference, we'll post it, and he went into, it was really, really
00:24:50.300 good, careful look at why this matters, like why this period matters, because his fundamental
00:24:56.420 thesis, and I think he's correct, is that World War II marked the end of the Westphalian order
00:25:02.200 of nations where you had the Peace of Westphalia and it basically nations that are largely
00:25:07.960 homogenous racial ethnic groups ruled by monarchs and like mainly Christian and the end of that
00:25:14.680 order, and it was replaced with a globalist liberal order that is multicultural, you know,
00:25:21.320 open border, feminist, egalitarian. This gives, you know, it's like the culmination of everything
00:25:27.660 that we have today in liberalism and egalitarianism in a national level. All of our immigration stuff,
00:25:33.560 it's downstream of this. So we've said this many times before. We do believe that the events
00:25:40.600 surrounding the world wars, especially World War II, are very, very important historically.
00:25:47.100 For anybody today who wants to know how to live in the world, wants to know why the world is the
00:25:52.940 way that it is today, what the watershed events are that got us here, what the main issues are,
00:26:00.620 you kind of need to know, like, what was Churchill up to? What was FDR up to? What was Hitler up to?
00:26:07.620 What was Stalin up to? What was Mao up to? What was, and even going further back, but the tentacles
00:26:13.640 on the same kind of monster, what was Gloria Steinem up to? What was Elizabeth Cady Stanton up
00:26:18.580 to? Which we, you know, the Longhouse book that we've been working on. When you can think of it
00:26:22.340 too, like this, like if I was going to study like Soviet era, I would certainly read the speeches
00:26:28.140 of Stalin. I would want to know everything. If you go to any serious college, you will read the
00:26:32.660 speeches of Hitler. You will read these, you know, this kind of material. And for the record,
00:26:37.620 Um, I have read just as one example, the entire memoirs of the second world war that Winston
00:26:45.060 Churchill wrote his own words about, and it's like, Matt, he's very wordy.
00:26:48.560 It's like six volumes.
00:26:49.720 Something is very long.
00:26:50.680 I've read it twice because I want to know what is when, and that's not what's true.
00:26:55.960 It's what does Winston Churchill think happened?
00:26:58.420 Yeah.
00:26:58.760 Very helpful to know that.
00:27:00.080 So when I read the last lion, the three volume autobiography of him, and I've read three to
00:27:05.260 four biographies of Churchill. And I can actually contextualize because I know his words, what was
00:27:13.380 happening. The same can be done for Germany and in the Nazi regime and its rise and its big
00:27:20.140 political thinkers and Adolf Hitler himself and all this stuff. And what happens when you actually
00:27:24.600 do that work is I think two things. One, the Nazi and the Hitler of history, basically it falls
00:27:34.260 apart in a lot of ways because we've as happens we oversimplify things and we we mythologize
00:27:40.120 things particularly these things and so there's this there's hitler and the nazi of of popular
00:27:46.320 social imagination that is it has aspects of truth but it's it's a character it's a cartoon
00:27:52.880 yeah even when you factor in things like you you've read churchill but like it was weird like
00:27:57.840 reading like the glowing things that he said about him early on oh yeah yeah and churchill
00:28:02.720 And the glowing things Churchill said about Churchill, unsurprisingly, you know, and the things he left out were so like, you know, when Churchill's kind of working through the bombing of civilians, which Churchill kind of initiated in the war, killed hundreds of thousands of civilians and firebombing, intentionally targeting women and children and non-military targets, which just historically speaking, then Axis powers respond to.
00:28:25.600 I'm not both sides did really bad, terrible, ugly things. That was one of them. So Churchill, obviously, in his memoirs. Doesn't call himself a genocidal civilian child murderer. You know what I mean? Yeah. So you can't just read him. You have to read it all.
00:28:41.780 So this caricature sort of it crumbles, it changes. And then a real historical snapshot appears where you and this that is always going to be in dispute because history is always in dispute among serious historians and among lay people.
00:28:58.820 um what you can do is you can re-mythologize in another direction that whole era we've talked
00:29:05.780 about this before as well and end up you know coming to this core conviction where you're like
00:29:11.680 nazism and hitler and all these guys were unqualified heroes and it was all like you
00:29:18.620 know contramundum you know hitler contramundum and all that and and what you'll find is that
00:29:23.420 there is uh in the conditions in 1930s germany some of the stuff that was going on with the
00:29:31.080 communists and with bolshevism and with pornography and the first transgender clinic there in the 30s
00:29:37.640 in germany that you talked about in your speech yeah magnus hirschfeld in passing frankfurt school
00:29:41.740 is going on that the nazis closed and then it came to new york city where it continued to operate so
00:29:47.320 again these things matter for our current date that's that's the origin story there so you'll
00:29:52.400 say, oh, this is a strange sentence as a public school educated kid like me to say the Nazis did
00:29:57.680 something good there. Or you start to look and say, oh, the popular support for Hitler was in
00:30:02.460 the 90s in terms of voting percentages of Germans. So this very Christian Germany voted 90 plus
00:30:09.140 percent for this guy. And so if you say if the cartoon is true, then all those people must be
00:30:14.400 the worst people who've ever lived. But obviously they're not. You find out that history is
00:30:19.700 complicated. Most of us are not great men. Most of us are products of our background culture.
00:30:26.200 And we probably, most of us would have been whatever the norm was in that day.
00:30:31.380 Okay. So when you read all of that stuff, some of it evaporates. So in terms of a publishing
00:30:37.920 company, hypothetically, like Antelope Hill, publishing those materials, I don't have a
00:30:41.880 problem with them. And I don't have a problem with them knowing that some of the publishers
00:30:46.840 themselves, and maybe even a lot of people who read them will come to conclusions, whether they
00:30:53.320 are to the left or to the right of me that differ in how they interpret and land the plane, you know,
00:30:59.080 from Hitler was a Christian prince to hit the cartoon was true. And this is all propaganda and
00:31:04.360 whatnot. So that's the process of discourse and why we think it's important in a nutshell.
00:31:09.640 We've said this before. That's why when it crossed the desk in a sense, like that two seconds of,
00:31:15.420 you know, here's the sponsors that we've, you know, added this, this week. And I was like,
00:31:19.820 oh yeah, I have that book from them. I think they do this. Okay. So full responsibility,
00:31:24.020 anybody's super pissed. Don't be pissed at any of our other speakers. Don't be mad at our staff.
00:31:28.620 Like you can be mad at me and Eric added to our tab and that we need one of those, like,
00:31:33.440 please take a number, please take a number. So the current wait time, the current wait time it's,
00:31:39.720 it's after I'm dead, you're still waiting in the billions of years, you know, and, and, and,
00:31:45.340 and I'll also be clear. Some of it deserves some of it not as, as is always true. I am neither as
00:31:50.920 bad as the people who hate me think I am in some way, in the ways that they think I'm bad,
00:31:55.320 nor as good as the people who like me think I am in the ways they think I'm good. The Lord knows
00:32:00.660 I'm comfortable. I told everybody, you know, as this was blowing up, the two, the two people I
00:32:05.880 care about people. I care about what God thinks. And then I care about what the session of refuge
00:32:10.720 church thinks. And it's in that order. And, um, and obviously my, my wife and Pete, you know,
00:32:16.600 the people and what that represents, but I, I don't care what the, the marionette, you know,
00:32:24.600 controversy farmers on Twitter think. Um, so I want people to know that even given that I want
00:32:31.380 people know what i actually think so there's what i think about the publication side of things yeah
00:32:36.960 i would even just add you know we talked to people even from you know moscow and new saint andrews
00:32:42.380 and they said we actually read hitler's speeches oh sure in class yeah i remember in high school
00:32:47.200 reading mind conf obviously that doesn't mean you agree with every single word no and and you're but
00:32:54.000 it's an important thing to do it's people have found it valuable so to look at that anything
00:32:59.140 on that like that side of the thing that you want you think i'm missing no i think that's accurate
00:33:04.380 obviously and some people hate what i just said and be like ah it's a super tough thing because
00:33:08.800 this is such a charged issue just look at the response like before this even happened right
00:33:14.120 like everyone everybody wants to call you a nazi anyway this has been part of the leftist rhetoric
00:33:19.460 like um you know you're gonna get attacked for that you're gonna get attacked for anti-semitism
00:33:24.440 because we don't like dispensationalism for example yeah and what we've tried to do i think
00:33:28.680 throughout that process is just let's think biblically and clearly yeah let's not give in
00:33:34.840 to the mob-like cancel culture well because we really do live under this gaze of post-war
00:33:42.460 consensus and to your point earlier like it's become a religion yeah and and here's i think
00:33:47.680 i said this to you i said i think that there's a lot of people if you like denied some orthodox
00:33:53.360 doctrine about the trinity or like the second coming of christ you would catch less heat than
00:33:57.660 you do for saying like, Hey, let's read, read a wide range of things and come to wise conclusions.
00:34:03.280 Or if you said like, you know, for example, the Jews have been prominently involved in every
00:34:08.680 ism that has dominated the 20th century, feminism, liberalism, as well as pornography,
00:34:13.600 many things. And everyone would freak out at you. And then you'd said, I'm sorry,
00:34:17.120 I'm just quoting Dennis Prager, right? Like the most middle of the road himself, a Jew
00:34:22.740 or like things that they, so when we say things about, well, I think there's an, a Jewish culture
00:34:30.120 issue and religious issue. And, and, um, again, I'm just telling you what I think is true. I'm
00:34:35.340 not trying to swindle you or fake out or whatever. I'm just going to tell you what I actually think.
00:34:41.680 Right. So that's our habit. That's what we try to do. And some people will violently disagree
00:34:47.860 with some of the things that we think are true on these issues. And I'm okay with that. I might
00:34:52.720 even think you're so wrong that I wouldn't want to, you know, that we obviously couldn't respect
00:34:57.540 each other. That's fine. But what happens is that the absolute freak out related to some of this
00:35:03.580 stuff ends up proving the point that, yeah, you could be a full preterist and you would get less
00:35:09.620 freak out from reformed Christianity. That is a literal formal heresy denying creedal Christianity.
00:35:17.060 And people will see somebody go full preterist and they'll write a mild blog post three months
00:35:22.440 later, but someone shares a picture of Hitler's speeches being republished at a new Christian
00:35:27.600 press conference. And oh my word, if we don't have a full denunciation of Hitler and all his
00:35:32.820 works by 7 15 PM, Brian and Eric are literally Satan. And I'm like, my brothers and sisters in
00:35:41.260 Christ, you are proving our point about why we need to talk about this issue and how charged
00:35:46.160 it has become. And maybe why that is in terms of founding mythology for the liberal order that we
00:35:51.940 all swim in and have been discipled by deeply okay so that's the historical one other note on
00:35:58.980 that we shared this in the conference something we've done at our church that i think has been
00:36:02.180 really helpful in navigating a lot of these things and i'm not tooting our own horn like we've
00:36:05.300 how do we do how do we deal with this we've been thinking about that for like two years
00:36:08.400 the race and in world or two and all this stuff we decided that what we're going to do
00:36:13.880 is start a new thing called a town hall that we don't record we don't put online like it's not
00:36:19.640 publicly distributed. It's for our people. And we introduce a topic. Sometimes it's the last one
00:36:26.160 was parenting and child discipline. Um, but we did two in a row on, which is also, by the way,
00:36:30.880 shockingly controversial sometimes. Oh yeah. We did two in a row on race and related stuff. Um,
00:36:37.120 race nationalism, kind of this, we had been prepping in men's book groups. We had very
00:36:41.320 free discussions about a lot of this stuff, read materials, critiques them, went through them
00:36:45.620 together as men. And then in the congregation on a Tuesday night, we said, let's do a town hall.
00:36:50.240 It's 90 minutes. I gave a 15 to 30 minute intro each time on race. Eric did the one on parenting.
00:36:54.780 And then, um, we had 60 plus minutes of just anybody have a question, raise your hand. Okay.
00:37:01.940 What's your question. And then we had a dialogue. Like I would answer the question or sometimes we
00:37:06.260 have a panel of guys from the pastorate or other guys as well. And we would just, what are you
00:37:10.900 actually thinking about this? And what was crazy about it is we said, we're not going to make
00:37:16.180 anything taboo. We're not going to make anything transgressive. Like where if you ask a question
00:37:20.960 about Hitler, it's really edgy to do. And some people do it just because it's edgy. And we're
00:37:25.920 saying, let's take all of that power out of it, the transgressive power of it by just opening it
00:37:30.180 up and saying, let's talk about it. And we're not going to struggle session you. If we think you're
00:37:34.880 sinning, we'll tell you if we, you know, if we disagree with you, we'll tell you, I will tell
00:37:39.060 you what I think about anything in a church. You could ask me the most controversial question in
00:37:43.580 this setting as a churchman or, and I would say, here's exactly what I think. This is what I think.
00:37:48.980 I don't know enough. I don't have an opinion or, you know, I, whatever. And the net result was that
00:37:54.380 by the end of the second one, this is less than three total hours of this. We were kind of running
00:38:00.000 out of stuff to talk about. Cause everyone was like, yeah, I mean there, maybe we, we have
00:38:04.360 different people who think different things about some of these issues, but we were like,
00:38:09.060 yeah but at the end of the day like what does it have to do with me being your brother or friend
00:38:14.660 here we have pretty broad agreement on a lot of this stuff for the younger members of the
00:38:19.600 congregation and stuff like i'm sorry all of the gen x and up you guys think that in trying to get
00:38:26.680 everybody to freak out about somebody reading hitler speeches you think that you're like
00:38:31.960 persuading people i'm telling you young millennials and zoomers and under they are unfazed by the the
00:38:38.000 frank discussion of these issues and they shouldn't be. They're actually throwing off
00:38:42.380 something that you've been manipulated and controlled by. Yeah. So this is an area where
00:38:47.080 older generations and some in the younger generations too have been so programmed to
00:38:51.980 not ask a question, is this true or not? But to ask the question, am I allowed to discuss this or
00:38:57.460 not? Yeah. It is interesting because when the conversation started, like on the race issue,
00:39:02.740 there was a little bit of heat. Yeah. But once we all talked through like what we actually
00:39:07.700 believe what we think is biblical how it would apply in our local context yeah it was so
00:39:13.560 interesting because by the second one yeah people were like done asking questions they're like kind
00:39:18.020 of quiet we talk about something else like it all it takes that transgressive edge and it makes it
00:39:23.460 where it's like yeah we talked about that it's really not that big of a deal so just not that
00:39:27.420 exciting just so you know like our our people like going online and going oh my word there was a
00:39:33.980 Hitler book. Someone was publishing the speeches of Hitler and, you know, and actually I even
00:39:40.560 suspect that the guy selling it thought Hitler had a few good points. Nobody freaks out in Ogden
00:39:46.560 about that. And it's not because we are overrun with people who are trying to actually resurrect
00:39:51.340 the Nazi party. I know there are people who are, who are like, that's their, they think that's the
00:39:55.980 big solution, all of our problems. And, but, but just, again, I'm just telling you the truth. It
00:40:01.100 might disappoint some uh really base listeners and it'll definitely disappoint on the liberals but
00:40:05.580 like just being honest about who we are and what our people are like and what our conversations
00:40:10.440 are like we are much more in the it's important history we have varying opinions this was a good
00:40:17.240 point that hitler had this was a bad thing like we don't like the t4 genocide program killing
00:40:22.300 mentally handicapped people what's definitely not our thing you know like but we also think that
00:40:27.520 yeah uh the the porn stuff and the weimar like all this stuff happening in the 30s was really bad
00:40:32.760 and bolshevism and communism was way worse than nazism and like a lot of that kind of thing and
00:40:38.180 by the way also mal was way worse than hitler and stalin was unquestionably worse than hitler
00:40:43.460 in terms of the spectrum so then you ask why aren't they the big boogeyman that hit people
00:40:49.260 don't like them but like why if i did a mal historical thing or like a pol pot nobody would
00:40:56.220 care no one would it'd be totally different so that's that we've probably just disappointed
00:41:00.700 or offended or whatever neil shenby's still concerned um owen strand is still shaking
00:41:06.300 um you know all the usual suspects are still going to post their clips and whatnot and i'm
00:41:12.820 not naming a lot of them because i have absolutely no i want here i have a message for you i have
00:41:17.120 absolutely no respect for you as a person i think you're bad people and you are actively doing harm
00:41:22.380 against the church and you should repent or you will go to hell that's my opinion of a lot of
00:41:26.080 Can I just ask too, like your thoughts on, so I see this happening with a lot of people who are like well-meaning Christian people reposting people who are known accusers of the brethren.
00:41:38.720 My word.
00:41:39.500 And like taking that.
00:41:40.760 Jumping at it.
00:41:41.460 Yeah.
00:41:42.200 What's crazy to me though, is like you guys are being controlled like puppets.
00:41:46.660 Yeah. Like these bad little Twitter accounts that are the discernment ministers of the anti-Christian nationalist crowd. They're like twitching the marionette puppet and you're going, Oh, I'm having an original thought. Oh, Oh, it's not an original thought. You're being marionetted by like skinny. Like they always call us like what we have father issues. Like I know some of these guys, I know who some of these guys are behind these anonymous accounts. I actually know who some of them are. I'm not going to dox them because that's not what we do.
00:42:12.180 but like one that i know of is like a skinny unaccomplished like lower 20s guy who has
00:42:20.760 no like there's nothing about him that i would say i should listen to you like you've you've
00:42:26.420 earned somebody paying attention to you they just controversy farm through all this stuff and try
00:42:31.900 to find what clip what thing can we use that will cast these guys that we already in a pre-rational
00:42:36.200 way decided we hate for purely tribal reasons that we can signal to the liberal order, look,
00:42:42.920 guys, we're not like those right wingers over here. Do you like us yet? And then the gays look
00:42:49.260 at you and say, no, you still need to denounce Christ and anything relating to the objectivity
00:42:56.920 of the sexes and like education of like, let us trans your kids or you are, you are still,
00:43:02.860 they would still call all of you literal Nazis. You know what I mean? Like, like it's just,
00:43:08.940 I want these fence riding middle of the road, third way is reformed big accounts to stop doing
00:43:14.620 this thing. One of these puppeteers jerks the string and they say, I'm just asking Brian and
00:43:20.320 Aaron questions. No, you're not. You have our direct messages. You are asking 200,000 followers,
00:43:26.840 is not a question, but to assume a conclusion about us. Now, if, if you hear this episode and
00:43:33.640 you say what you just said about all of that publication stuff, I disagree. And here's why
00:43:38.040 respect it. I totally respect it. I, you can disagree with that. I think you are completely
00:43:44.040 wrong on an important issue. And I think that it will have bad effects in anything that you build
00:43:50.220 that you're not thinking about some of these things down to the bone, the way that you should.
00:43:54.660 And we're trying to, at the same time, each one will answer to the Lord, not to me.
00:44:01.540 I won't answer to Twitter.
00:44:02.880 I won't answer.
00:44:03.700 I will answer to the session in the name of the Lord.
00:44:06.120 And I will answer to the Lord, uh, myself for every careless word.
00:44:10.260 I'm thankful for the grace of God in light of that, quite frankly.
00:44:13.760 But at the same time, like this whole, this whole, I'm just asking for a clarification
00:44:19.680 thing.
00:44:20.740 Um, well, and it's also too, I've noticed a lot of it is like.
00:44:24.660 it's not asking questions it's calling you a nazi and then it's demand like the faux outrage
00:44:32.820 yeah of like i demand an answer on behalf of all the ladies why is this happening and you're like
00:44:39.620 okay let's let's take a step back you know she sees this bro i said to a few people like hey
00:44:44.620 let's think biblically and clearly proverbs 18 17 yeah give people time to and we have and we'll
00:44:51.060 talk about this we've been dealing with the issues in the right order but in a biblical way yeah like
00:44:56.300 hey let's go confront some people let's go figure out what happened let's go get there biblically
00:45:01.180 deal with it yeah we're going to make a measured response yeah according to biblical justice not
00:45:06.860 according to the rage of the mob yeah and so i just encourage people continually don't be like
00:45:12.880 the mob in acts where people are screaming out one thing some people are screaming out another and
00:45:18.020 nobody knew what the heck they were doing they actually didn't know why they were there
00:45:20.820 They don't even know. Yes. Okay. So calm down, ma'am. Hey ma'am, calm down. So to the, to the
00:45:27.320 other, here's the stuff that we did have issue with, um, that the flyer that was distributed
00:45:33.440 again, the guys that were doing the booth, this is their normal practice that they just didn't
00:45:38.460 even think about. We've communicated to Eric's point about in order. We went to them and said,
00:45:42.660 tell us what happened here. Here is what people are saying happened. They're saying that you're
00:45:47.360 handing out a flyer that's leading to everything from a literal cult to literal pornography so
00:45:54.280 what's up with that and they they said yeah we do this flyer we kind of update it every once in a
00:45:59.260 while we hand it out with our books it's just it's not like we eval everything here it's just this
00:46:04.860 is kind of like related pro-white businesses and that and we're in the we are pro-western
00:46:10.900 civilization pro-white pro-anglum you know all those things and some of the links on it they're
00:46:16.300 like, yeah, that was, you know, to them, they're a secular publishing house. They're like, this is
00:46:20.820 a pro white tarot card thing. And, and we're, we're, our response is if you're pro white, you
00:46:26.340 should probably not talk to demons and tell the white people to talk to demons. Cause they've
00:46:30.420 been doing enough of that for the last century. Um, there, there, there wasn't people overbleu
00:46:35.500 this. There wasn't like a link to literal pornography. There was a link to a men's
00:46:39.840 magazine that like, I think you said it was maybe men's, uh, manosphere adjacent or something.
00:46:43.920 I didn't look at it. We certainly wouldn't like it. Don't like the Twitter account that's
00:46:47.640 associated with it. Don't like that link. But just so you know, that act of handing that out
00:46:52.020 broke the terms of our actual being a booth at our event rules because you're not allowed to
00:46:57.940 cross promote another business that we didn't actually have on our list for obvious reasons.
00:47:03.840 So we we talked to them about that. They apologized. We said that was you shouldn't
00:47:09.580 have done that. They said, we're sorry. You're right. If someone had told us it all happened
00:47:13.900 too late. The stuff, by the time we knew about all this, like the, the sponsors are getting
00:47:17.540 packed up. So they said, we would have immediately pulled it, whatever. Um, I still disagree with
00:47:22.800 them about the utility of that. I think that it is actively, um, insidious and that the material
00:47:27.880 on that flyer, I think was actively harmful to the cause of, if you like white people,
00:47:32.120 then you should not encourage them to join paganism and cults that are destroying the world
00:47:37.340 and are just, you know, same Jersey as the feminists, same Jersey, same team, just different
00:47:45.760 mask on when they go like that Satan with a different Jersey on. Okay. Here, here's the
00:47:50.680 reality though. Nobody that knows us or anything we've ever said about anything would ever think
00:47:59.640 given that information, Brian and Eric knew about this and they were real cool with it.
00:48:03.020 And let me tell you one of the obvious reasons why the book that we published
00:48:06.660 for the first time. Can you grab that for me right there behind you?
00:48:09.680 The red one. Oh yeah. The big red one.
00:48:12.840 This is the book that we published for the first time at the conference.
00:48:15.780 You'll notice the title is killing lust fighting for purity in a pornographic
00:48:19.720 age by our own pastor Ben Garrett.
00:48:22.040 So here's the neat thing about our position on pornography.
00:48:25.340 It's gay as AIDS.
00:48:28.760 And a lot of you need to stop looking at it.
00:48:30.860 that's my position on it we're publishing a book to help you i if you can't afford it i'll give it
00:48:36.540 to you for free like shoot shoot me an email because you need to stop looking at that's really
00:48:40.700 gay and it's really sinful and you'll go to hell for it so that's our position on pornography i
00:48:44.660 know that was groundbreaking and nobody ever would have believed that we were very disappointed to
00:48:48.740 see that distributed quite frankly and and very annoyed very frustrated because here's what here's
00:48:55.240 what it did. It took, we'll publish the speeches. I encourage all the people who shared all the
00:49:02.660 marionette puppeteers, go watch every single thing that happened at the conference and tell
00:49:07.340 me and give me a list of everything with it you disagreed with. Because it took the focus of a
00:49:12.240 conference that was the war for normal, where we were for a year planning saying, what is the thing
00:49:17.080 our people need to hear? And we do, we see the political theory explosion, the interest in that.
00:49:20.680 And we were like, a lot of guys need to hear, you think way too much about political theory and you do way too little political action and even things prior to that in terms of your personal piety, your personal rule of your family, ruling well in your spheres of influence.
00:49:39.060 And so that is what we talked about for a number of speeches for two days and panels.
00:49:45.380 And that was what everybody took away.
00:49:46.960 productive households how to lead in family worship that was what the conference was that
00:49:52.780 is what every single person there and so i was angry with myself um for as as the one responsible
00:49:58.800 eric and i are responsible i was angry at us for not for it was retarded not to think ahead on that
00:50:04.720 and not go like yeah that i i should have thought we should have had a more of it's getting bigger
00:50:09.980 we can't assume anymore that everybody who shows up for sponsors is going to understand our kind
00:50:15.140 of unwritten rules, like the rules of politeness, like don't go to a Christian conference and
00:50:19.120 actively promote paganism. That would be like a normal house rule for Christians. Um, but
00:50:24.920 yeah, that I was mad at myself. I was frustrated with the antelope guys, quite frankly, which is
00:50:31.340 why, again, when you have a problem with someone, what do you do? You start a rage mob on X.
00:50:38.180 Is that not the correct? Oh, it's not that it's not that so close. No, we, we talked it before
00:50:44.660 we talked to you guys, we talked to them. So this frustrates you guys about us. A lot of times we
00:50:50.160 don't always instantly comment on stuff because believe it or not, we have the phone numbers of
00:50:53.900 most of the people involved in a lot of these controversies. And most of the time we're talking
00:50:59.460 to them like quite directly about stuff. Even our friends who were like, Hey man, I think that what
00:51:05.160 you just did was kind of dumb, you know, like tactically or truthfully or whatever. We think
00:51:09.200 you're wrong. We do that. And, and our friends could have could test a test to that. Yeah. And
00:51:15.020 we're also don't do it on Twitter. Yeah. And we're also, yeah. Willing, you know, we've taken
00:51:19.640 feedback and we'll take, we'll take it to the chin. So like, yeah, I was mad at myself. I was
00:51:24.440 mad at that happening. And, um, those guys have apologized and, and, you know, said, Hey, we're
00:51:31.340 sorry. That was, you're right. So, um, forgive them for, for doing that. But here, here's the,
00:51:37.440 But the thing I was mad about, though, was that this really, really tremendous, I think, just edifying thousands of seeds sown in hundreds of fields and families and businesses and really good stuff from from some of some wise men, you know, Stephen Wolfe, Zach Garris, Adam, like our guys that we would say these we invited them to speak on this thing.
00:52:02.520 and we want you to listen to them on this thing
00:52:04.180 because they have things that will help you here.
00:52:06.540 And every single talk was like, yes, that was so good.
00:52:10.380 And everybody there was built up and edified.
00:52:14.580 And I hope through the Sunday service as well
00:52:16.840 on the Lord's day where we lift our eyes
00:52:18.460 from earthly things and behold the heavenly things.
00:52:20.480 And just that was what we were, where we were.
00:52:24.600 And then this very distracting
00:52:28.280 and quite frankly, not representative of even the,
00:52:31.960 like we could have done a whole conference on World War II history. I'm not saying we never
00:52:36.000 will or whatever, but we probably not. But it's like, we didn't do that. That wasn't what this
00:52:40.980 was about. And so I was frustrated with us, regardless of what you think about those two
00:52:45.400 issues, like the history piece and the flyer piece, you should all agree about the flyer piece,
00:52:49.260 by the way, it was bad. Even our guys should agree like that was bad. So regardless of what
00:52:55.280 you think about that i i think we were rightly annoyed that that was taken and so we are we're
00:53:02.540 going to do a whole like follow-up episode like we had planned we're going to bring some of the
00:53:05.840 pastors in from our church and just talk about all what we loved about the conference and try to
00:53:10.800 actually turn our attention back to like the meaningful what was the point of this whole
00:53:15.360 thing we spent a literal year working on yeah um and not what our detractors want to use it as a
00:53:20.460 bludgeon to personally destroy eric and i and prove that you know yet again for the 10th time
00:53:26.000 this time we've got them you know and i just get that sense from our enemies that they they're like
00:53:31.400 we've got them this time we've got them and i'm like you guys it's we we my opinion hasn't changed
00:53:36.820 from whatever i said in 2022 or three or four or whatever you know on a lot of this i just repeated
00:53:41.860 myself yeah on on the on a lot of those well i think you have to and most people do i think at
00:53:47.900 this point in the game like the last couple years you have to understand like there's people who
00:53:51.720 have christians who have decided to hate us for whatever reason and so there's this thing where
00:53:58.480 you're like standing on the sideline just being like i'm waiting yeah i'm waiting to get you
00:54:03.440 and look you know as you said let's you know a lot of those people they still have our phone numbers
00:54:09.540 happy to talk happy to address the issues head on yeah like legitimately anybody could come up to
00:54:17.540 either of us at the conference and many did and say, what do you think about this? And I'm just
00:54:20.880 going to tell you what I think about it. Quite frankly, like it gets us in trouble that we do
00:54:27.840 this as you all know, but that is our practice. It's what we want to do. And so this whole, like
00:54:35.780 they're hiding their true views on whatnot for, you know, political reasons or whatever. There is
00:54:41.260 a sense in which I recognize that within this broad coalition of, so you have this huge bubble
00:54:46.400 of Christianity in America. And then you have a very much smaller bubble of reformed Christianity
00:54:51.800 in America. And you have a very much smaller bubble, like a 10th, again, the size of politically
00:54:58.460 engaged in the debate about Christian nationalism, reformed Christianity and egalitarianism and
00:55:02.940 feminism. And then within that camp, you have about 17 tribes that are all believed slightly
00:55:07.020 different things. Some of them on opposite ends of things and hate each other. Some of them love
00:55:10.100 each other. Some of them are like, I don't know about you, but I kind of like what you did here,
00:55:13.300 but I think you're wrong on this. That's like this little thing down here. Um, what's happening
00:55:18.800 and we just don't have a problem telling you ball and strike what I think about these different
00:55:26.080 things. And even that is not us declaring from on high that we are now giving the papal decree
00:55:30.880 on the issue that like the King's hall is an expert on every single thing it ever touches.
00:55:36.140 We're just, we are pastors. The main thing I think you should listen to us about
00:55:40.240 is like the pastor parenting marriage pie.
00:55:43.340 Like that's the stuff that we do day in and day out.
00:55:45.300 The political stuff, we think it affects how we do that.
00:55:47.900 That's why we talk about it
00:55:48.820 because we're pastoring people
00:55:50.100 who live in this political world
00:55:51.500 and have been shaped by these presuppositions
00:55:54.040 that are ideological and philosophical
00:55:56.060 and social and political.
00:55:58.360 And so we do wanna know those things.
00:56:00.160 But the main thing that we are trying to do
00:56:03.700 is to actually build a Christian borough
00:56:06.080 that has an answer for every part
00:56:07.960 of what it means to be human.
00:56:09.180 That's what we're up to.
00:56:10.240 we miss the the we miss the mark on things you know all over the place here and there
00:56:14.740 and but we're doing it convictionally it's not a grift it's not a um it's not an act this is like
00:56:20.640 just arrogant this is what we think yeah this is what we want this is what we're doing yeah maybe
00:56:26.300 a good place to end the episode i think would just be maybe an exhortation or encouragement
00:56:30.900 from you about look we have these things like we learn from our mistakes uh but also there's a way
00:56:37.700 to receive with joy, the trials. Oh yeah. And then to move forward and say, look, you know,
00:56:43.040 every time you're a part of a good work, there's going to be times where you reevaluate, but to
00:56:49.420 like continue to move forward with boldness. Yeah. You know, so maybe just, yeah, absolutely. I mean,
00:56:54.680 I was on the Lord's day because you, this all blew up Saturday. And, and frankly, I was,
00:56:59.860 I was frustrated. I was discouraged and went through the Lord's day, um, preached on first
00:57:06.720 Corinthians 13 and Christian love and was sitting after the service, just like pretty, pretty down,
00:57:13.380 honestly, and, uh, frustrated and kind of like, Oh, just, you feel a little powerless when you
00:57:20.560 have the explosion of people hating you who literally don't know you. And it's not the
00:57:26.360 first time it's happened to us. We're, we're, we're familiar with the sensation, you know,
00:57:30.080 and you get calluses to it, which is good and helpful. But I just had this thought. I think
00:57:34.740 a lot of us had it, that a reminder of something we tell our people and we need to hear ourselves.
00:57:40.220 It's like every single thing that passes into your life does so through the kind hand of a
00:57:46.800 good father who loves you and who is using it for your good. So, um, you know, David fleeing
00:57:52.560 from his throne and the heckler over there is heckling him. And they're like, should we go
00:57:56.800 kill that guy, King David? And he's like, no, no, he might be saying something true.
00:57:59.360 leave him alone god will judge like let god do it you know this whole let let the lord judge
00:58:05.360 between between you and me and also um there this is not just a piety signal this is true
00:58:12.600 like whoever hates you you you like they don't know the half of your sin you you are way worse
00:58:20.620 in some ways than they ever will like you are if they had god's knowledge of you imagine that
00:58:25.680 without God's love and mercy,
00:58:28.380 it would be, you think about cancel culture,
00:58:30.920 like think about what if God wanted to take us all
00:58:34.360 to the woodshed based on perfect knowledge
00:58:36.180 with no mercy and no love.
00:58:38.100 And it's like, wow, that would be really bad.
00:58:40.040 So I just thought, you know, Lord,
00:58:41.880 whatever it is that you want us to take from this,
00:58:46.080 I know that this whole thing is in my life
00:58:48.400 because you willed that it would be.
00:58:51.480 And I'm like, if it's, Lord, if it's,
00:58:53.540 I'm wrong about everything
00:58:54.800 and you want me to repent and, and ever, you know, all the way, and I'm totally wrong about
00:59:00.600 everything, please. I want to know that if it's something, and, and this episode is the result
00:59:07.240 of that evaluation of going, okay, what, what did we screw up? No, well, okay, we did. Yeah,
00:59:12.780 here, that was off. Um, I'm not happy that we functionally allowed, not willfully, but
00:59:19.340 functionally allowed people to say paganism is great. And maybe, you know, subscribe to this
00:59:24.280 bad men's magazine. Don't do that. People who went to the conference, not that I think any of
00:59:27.740 them are dumb enough to do that, but you know, whatever, I'm pretty frustrated. Lord, please
00:59:31.600 forgive me for that. And, uh, you know, let's, what do we need to do to do that better next time?
00:59:36.380 And then what do I, what should I say? But before God with a clean conscience, I'm convinced on this,
00:59:42.000 this, and this. And I think that that is, you know, okay. When that's the result, this episode
00:59:46.200 is the result of that evaluation. And the, the, the main thing that I want to take away personally,
00:59:52.280 and that i would encourage christians to do is is just to stop living in the fear of man
01:00:00.220 where everything you do you're constantly thinking what will everybody else think of me
01:00:04.860 and to think what will god think of me what will god think of me and and before god that is
01:00:12.980 what we are trying to do yeah here we're sinners we're fallen all that's true like absolutely but
01:00:20.060 that's what we're trying to do. And I would encourage whatever step you need to take in your
01:00:24.120 life to kill the fear of man, to stop living under the gaze of whatever thing it is that's
01:00:30.880 controlling you, to stop doing that from whatever direction it's coming from and to fear the Lord
01:00:38.480 and to live under his gaze and know that it is a stern gaze, but it is the gaze of a father who
01:00:45.460 loves you more than anybody else. He loves you perfectly. Like God loves us perfectly because
01:00:51.680 he is love and he is perfect. And so everything that defines his essence defines everything that
01:00:57.220 he does. And so his love for you is perfect. He is perfect. He's for you. And he's also on your
01:01:02.900 side. So, and the funny thing is this cracks me up. God is on the side of us and some of the people
01:01:09.440 who hate us. And they're like, there's a lot of Christians and God is like, you guys, will you
01:01:15.720 just, okay. He's not really doing that. God's not God's he's will is perfect. He's, he's carrying
01:01:23.000 all this out according to his plan. And, um, he's going to bring in the fullness of time,
01:01:27.920 all things to their perfect conclusion. But that thought always cracks me up. And I'm like, yeah,
01:01:32.240 that person who hates me. And some of them, I think are snakes and not Christians and that
01:01:36.140 they need to repent and not go to hell because I love them and don't want them
01:01:39.220 to go to hell. Um, but some of them are Christians and they're,
01:01:42.340 and we have different opinions about one thing or other and I'm right and
01:01:45.220 they're wrong. And I'm sure there's things in the other direction too.
01:01:47.920 And, and God is on both of our side.
01:01:50.420 And so that cracks me up in particular, um, a little bit. And,
01:01:54.620 and it makes the, it sets in perspective these kinds of days where you're like,
01:01:58.620 well, let me put on my hard hat and open Twitter.com.
01:02:03.420 And then, and I cannot emphasize this enough.
01:02:05.320 there's some of you that I don't respect your opinion whatsoever and I don't
01:02:07.940 care what you think. And, and, uh, you can put it in my inbox,
01:02:10.940 which is just a garbage can. That's the, so for some of you,
01:02:13.020 that's the message I'd like to leave. That's where it's going. Yeah.
01:02:15.100 Yeah. That's a good word. Well, thank you. And to our listeners,
