The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 1266 - They're Coming After Elon Because He Committed The Sin Of Allowing Us To Speak

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Walsh Show, the left has launched a full-scale war against Elon Musk

00:00:03.860 to punish him for allowing free speech on his platform.

00:00:06.660 They're doing it all under the pretense of combating anti-Semitism,

00:00:09.540 but we'll talk about their real motivations today.

00:00:11.780 Also, thousands of hours of January 6th footage are being released,

00:00:14.660 and the footage tells a very different story from the one we were told.

00:00:17.660 And the Miss Universe pageant this weekend featured an obese woman and two dudes. 1.00

00:00:21.780 Miss Universe has also gone bankrupt, not surprisingly.

00:00:24.540 We'll talk about all that and more today on the Matt Walsh Show.

00:01:54.980 That's Walsh to 989898.

00:01:57.740 When Elon Musk purchased Twitter a year ago, the federal government and its allies

00:02:02.100 embarked on maybe the single most desperate and obvious campaign to destroy a private citizen

00:02:07.380 that's been undertaken in this country in modern history.

00:02:10.100 Not since Julian Assange began exposing war crimes by the Pentagon

00:02:13.760 has the left turned on one of its heroes so quickly and with so much vitriol.

00:02:18.460 Like Julian Assange, Musk was a catalyst for public discussions that our leaders

00:02:23.200 simply do not want us to be having.

00:02:26.340 Twitter under Musk allows everyone to speak directly to the people in power.

00:02:30.600 It allows average Americans to say what they're actually thinking,

00:02:33.780 free of censorship, at least for the most part.

00:02:36.160 And that's the one thing that the federal government simply cannot permit.

00:02:38.920 So Elon Musk became a villain virtually overnight.

00:02:43.220 The turn was not exactly convincing.

00:02:46.020 Indeed, it's difficult to overstate the extent of the absurdity of this particular smear campaign.

00:02:50.820 They really aren't even trying to hide it.

00:02:52.520 Joe Biden's SEC launched an investigation into whether Musk was trying to build himself

00:02:57.180 a quote-unquote glass house using money from Tesla,

00:03:00.040 which he single-handedly transformed from near bankruptcy

00:03:02.860 into the most profitable car company on the planet.

00:03:05.080 Meanwhile, the DOJ sued Musk's company for not hiring enough refugees,

00:03:09.960 which was so absurd on its face that a judge recently shut the whole thing down.

00:03:14.160 And regulators working for the state of California,

00:03:16.080 who have never produced anything remotely useful in their lives and don't even pretend to,

00:03:20.380 went after Musk because his assembly plants are hotbeds for white supremacy

00:03:24.240 because some employees overheard a racial slur or something, supposedly.

00:03:28.120 At the same time, the media reassured us again and again that Twitter was on the verge of failing

00:03:32.780 and it was going to collapse.

00:03:34.160 It would collapse during the midterm elections, they told us last year.

00:03:37.680 Now, none of these attacks were really effective

00:03:40.600 because they were either obviously false or too far removed from Elon Musk himself.

00:03:45.460 The media could claim that some random Tesla factory had racist graffiti in the bathroom,

00:03:50.800 but linking such a heinous fake crime to Elon Musk is not very easy to do.

00:03:56.320 So, for the past year, the forces of censorship have been grinding away,

00:04:00.800 trying and utterly failing to land a kill shot on Elon Musk.

00:04:05.320 But all the while, they've been waiting, waiting for the perfect moment.

00:04:10.240 If they think they found a perfect moment, it doesn't pan out.

00:04:13.160 They're waiting for the real perfect moment to pounce.

00:04:16.360 But last week, these operatives sensed that they'd finally had their opening.

00:04:19.680 It all began on November 15th when a video, which we'll play for you in a second,

00:04:24.340 appeared on Twitter, which is now known as X, of course.

00:04:27.440 It's from a group called the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism,

00:04:31.780 which was founded by the billionaire NFL owner Robert Kraft.

00:04:35.380 And here is the video. Watch.

00:04:47.220 I saw what you've been posting.

00:04:49.680 Hitler was right. 1.00

00:04:55.440 I didn't teach you that.

00:04:58.840 You hide behind your screen, spewing all this hatred and ugliness.

00:05:03.980 You got something you want to say?

00:05:07.460 Get out of the truck and say it to their faces.

00:05:09.200 Okay, so the thrust of this ad is pretty simple.

00:05:38.680 An older white guy is upset that his young white son is going online and telling people that Hitler did nothing wrong. 0.99

00:05:44.840 But this white kid is too cowardly to say any of that to the group of Jewish people walking by. 0.95

00:05:49.440 And the ad concludes by claiming that 70,000 posts have been made online since last year praising Hitler, 0.98

00:05:56.060 which we're led to believe is very shocking because apparently this is the only kind of insane thing that people post on the Internet. 0.67

00:06:05.300 I mean, you clearly could not find 70,000 posts saying that white people are evil or that the world is flat or that men can have babies. 0.65

00:06:12.000 That would be unheard of. 0.95

00:06:13.220 The Internet's not a place where people just randomly say crazy things.

00:06:16.260 Not at all.

00:06:16.720 Regardless, right away, there are some deeper criticisms you can make in response to this ad.

00:06:23.020 For one thing, you might point out that the advertisement's choice of actors is pretty conspicuous.

00:06:26.960 All the bad guys, once again, of course, are white. 0.99

00:06:29.260 We see this phenomenon in pretty much every advertisement these days. 0.97

00:06:32.320 Allstate in particular goes out of its way to convey that white guys have a propensity for carjacking,

00:06:37.920 which flies in the face of literally every crime statistic that's been recorded since we had automobiles in this country.

00:06:43.660 And in this case, once again, the casting is absurd. 0.98

00:06:47.140 The reality, as unpleasant as it may be, is that black people commit a wildly disproportionate amount of attacks against Jewish people on the basis of their religion. 0.93

00:06:55.040 In New York City, for example, black people are the assailants in roughly 42 percent of the documented hate crime attacks against Jews in cases where the race of the attacker is known. 0.94

00:07:04.280 This is a city, by the way, where blacks make up less than a quarter of the population.

00:07:08.240 And by the way, these statistics don't account for how many of the white attackers have Middle Eastern ancestry, for example.

00:07:15.280 So hearing this, you might object, well, just because they chose a white guy to play anti-Semite in this one advertisement doesn't mean that they think all white people are anti-Semitic.

00:07:22.560 They're not trying to send any kind of message.

00:07:24.960 But if that's true, you have to ask, where are the ads from the foundation to combat anti-Semitism that address non-white people who are anti-Semitic,

00:07:31.460 who are actually committing violent crimes? 0.88

00:07:34.180 Where's their ad where a black or Muslim father has to give the talk to his child and tell him not to go around beating Jews up on the street? 0.95

00:07:42.100 Well, there isn't one.

00:07:43.640 This group has never made an ad like that.

00:07:45.860 I checked, and it doesn't exist.

00:07:47.820 And that's why, and this is true of many of these kinds of groups that talk about the problems of anti-Semitism,

00:07:55.320 very, very targeted in the people that they direct that message to.

00:08:02.100 And that's why in response to that video we just played and referring to this trend of left-wing Jewish groups demonizing white people,

00:08:09.020 which is easily observable and therefore something you're not supposed to talk about, I guess,

00:08:13.400 an anonymous user on X wrote this, quote, quoting out,

00:08:17.020 Now, okay, Jewish communities have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them. 0.86

00:08:24.300 I'm deeply disinterested in giving the tiniest s*** now about Western Jewish populations coming to the disturbing realization 1.00

00:08:30.240 that those hordes of minorities that support flooding their country don't exactly look like them too much. 0.97

00:08:36.440 You want truth said to your face?

00:08:38.520 There it is.

00:08:40.340 Now, Elon Musk apparently saw that comment, which was under that video that we just played, and he agreed with it.

00:08:46.180 And here's what Musk posted in response.

00:08:48.880 You have said the actual truth.

00:08:51.140 So just expressing agreement.

00:08:53.400 Now, Musk then elaborated in a follow-up post about an hour and a half later.

00:08:57.620 Musk wrote, quote,

00:08:58.300 The ADL unjustly attacks the majority of the West, despite the majority of the West supporting Jewish people in Israel.

00:09:04.460 This is because they cannot, by their own tenets, criticize the minority groups who are their primary threat.

00:09:09.960 It is not right. It needs to stop.

00:09:12.960 Now, when another poster explained that not all Jewish communities are involved in this kind of race hatred,

00:09:17.720 Musk answered, quote,

00:09:18.700 You're right that this does not extend to all Jewish communities, but it is also not just limited to the ADL.

00:09:24.240 So that is Musk explaining what he is talking about, which, by the way, is also something you're not allowed to do these days.

00:09:30.240 So if you say something and everyone goes, oh, you said that, you must really mean this, it's too late for you to come back and say, well, no, that's not what I meant.

00:09:39.200 Here's what I meant.

00:09:39.900 Let me, as the person who said the thing, let me explain what I meant, because I'm the only one who can be an authority on what I meant when I said something.

00:09:48.180 I'm the only one who is in my own mind and understands my own intentions.

00:09:51.420 And that should be the end of it.

00:09:54.640 If somebody says something and everyone misinterprets it and says, oh, you must really mean this, and then that person comes back and says, no, I didn't mean that.

00:09:59.980 Here's what I actually meant.

00:10:01.440 That should be the end of the conversation.

00:10:03.380 The one single authority on earth who can speak to that person's motivations has spoken, and so that's it.

00:10:10.720 There's nothing else to be said.

00:10:12.080 But, of course, that's not the way it works now.

00:10:13.580 So, and, but we know that everything about what Musk wrote is clearly reasonable, you know, about the ADL and so on.

00:10:21.260 That doesn't mean you have to agree with him, but his arguments make sense, they're logical, they comport with all the data we've seen, and it's the kind of thing we should be able to talk about.

00:10:29.660 But large corporations in the federal government don't want you to have interesting conversations like this.

00:10:34.160 They're forbidden.

00:10:35.360 Instead, they want you to shut up and obey.

00:10:37.100 So, one after the other, every major media outlet from the supposedly conservative Wall Street Journal and Fox News to hard left MSNBC and CNN lined up to accuse Musk of anti-Semitism this week.

00:10:48.340 They accused him of hating Jews because he criticized a subset of Jews for doing something that they're obviously doing, which is pushing a left-wing agenda.

00:10:57.480 Here's CBS News, for example.

00:10:59.540 Tech billionaire Elon Musk is under fire for spreading anti-Semitic and racist hate to his 160 million followers on X, formerly known as Twitter.

00:11:10.400 Disney is just becoming the latest advertiser to flee the social media platform out of fear that their ads will appear next to hate speech.

00:11:18.040 CBS's Nancy Cordes is at the White House, where the Biden administration today condemned the promotion of what it called hideous anti-Semitic lies.

00:11:25.500 The latest firestorm sparked by Elon Musk on his social media site, X, is now threatening to spread to his other companies, including SpaceX and electric carmaker Tesla, as investors openly muse.

00:11:40.580 Okay, well, you'll notice that ad, that report, which is really an ad, goes on for a while, but nowhere in the CBS report do they provide any context for Musk's remarks.

00:11:53.140 They don't show you the advertisement he was responding to, nor do they show you his follow-up posts, which make it clear exactly who and what he's criticizing and why he's criticizing them.

00:12:02.640 As Elon stated, when he says Jewish communities, he means Jewish organizations like the ADL.

00:12:07.660 And it's obvious that organizations like the ADL and the Foundation to Combat Anti-Semitism have been pushing a far-left agenda, as I've already outlined.

00:12:16.160 That is not in dispute.

00:12:18.840 But even if Elon had meant Jewish communities in the broader sense, which he didn't, apparently, because, again, the one single person who can speak to his own motivations and intentions is him, and he's already said what he meant.

00:12:31.340 But even if he had meant that, he would still be correct.

00:12:36.060 It is simply a fact that the Jewish demographic in this country is predominantly liberal.

00:12:40.340 Not all of them, obviously, but a majority.

00:12:42.160 In 2020, Pew found that 7 in 10 Jewish adults identify with the Democratic Party or lean towards it.

00:12:48.340 And conservatives also often point out that black voters largely vote Democrat, which means that they are voting for the very people who have spent generations destroying their communities by refusing to enforce the law, putting dangerous criminals back on the street, and so on. 0.90

00:13:03.160 Just go for a walk in Selma sometime after dark if you doubt that.

00:13:06.900 Now, it should not be considered outrageous or bigoted to point out either of these realities.

00:13:12.260 They are simply just realities.

00:13:14.280 As a Catholic, if somebody noted that a majority of Catholics in this country are liberal on social issues, I would not accuse them of anti-Catholic bigotry.

00:13:23.200 Instead, I would accuse them of saying something that happens to be true.

00:13:26.340 As much as I wish it wasn't true, it is, which is why I also point that out about Catholics in this country. 1.00

00:13:33.720 Now, despite the truth of all of this, or maybe because of it, the outrage dogpile continued to grow.

00:13:40.220 The next organization to jump on top was none other than the White House.

00:13:44.500 Biden's White House put out a statement claiming that Musk was using the same logic that a mass shooter endorsed before killing several people at a synagogue in Pittsburgh in 2018.

00:13:54.720 This is how seriously the federal government takes the First Amendment.

00:13:57.700 Say something they don't like, even if you're a private citizen, and they'll put out a statement condemning you and linking you to a mass murderer.

00:14:05.200 That's how things work in this free country of ours.

00:14:07.980 Next, within hours, the White House's Soros-funded propagandists at Media Matters predictably got involved.

00:14:15.300 Now, you know, we like to have fun with Media Matters here because they act as our inadvertent PR team by constantly promoting my show and the other DW shows in a vain attempt to smear and embarrass us. 0.97

00:14:27.400 Yet, although the people at Media Matters are a bunch of bumbling clowns and self-defeating clowns on the top of it, that doesn't make them any less hideously evil. 0.97

00:14:37.400 Let's be clear about that. 0.99

00:14:38.620 They are an organization that serves no purpose on Earth other than to defame and silence conservatives.

00:14:43.900 They will lie.

00:14:44.680 They will slander.

00:14:45.440 They will take things wildly out of context.

00:14:47.680 They will dig things up from ages ago.

00:14:49.920 They will do whatever they can to destroy you.

00:14:51.860 There is no tactic too low, too unethical for them.

00:14:55.740 But they realize that their efforts to cast all conservative voices out into the hinterlands cannot be successful as long as Musk controls one of the biggest social media platforms, which is why he must be destroyed.

00:15:07.980 So Media Matters, they didn't just stop with that one article.

00:15:11.020 I mean, this controversy for them, this is like their Super Bowl.

00:15:13.600 They're so excited.

00:15:14.820 They are thrilled.

00:15:15.620 And they see it as their one realistic chance to take out Musk.

00:15:20.100 So just a day after Musk's post about ADL and other Jewish groups, Media Matters posted a lengthy hit piece about X.

00:15:26.320 And the point of this hit piece was to convince advertisers to drop the platform and then bankrupt the company.

00:15:32.340 And to that end, Media Matters specifically alleged that, quote,

00:15:34.680 As ex-owner Elon Musk continues his descent into white nationalist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, his social media platform has been placing ads for major brands like Apple, Bravo, IBM, Oracle, and Xfinity next to content that touts Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party.

00:15:50.860 And this hit piece was followed by dozens of others.

00:15:53.500 If you go to Media Matters' homepage right now, you will find that all of their featured stories are about Elon.

00:15:59.740 It's just one Elon story after another all over their homepage.

00:16:03.060 So, predictably, almost as if it was coordinated, a bunch of companies like IBM and Lionsgate and Paramount and Apple responded to this hit piece by suspending their ad campaigns on X.

00:16:14.180 They didn't even wait for Musk's response to Media Matters or any kind of independent investigation whatsoever.

00:16:18.980 They decided to cut off Musk's entire social media site because one rabidly left-wing group claimed that they found some ads next to objectionable content.

00:16:29.380 But it appears that Media Matters isn't just writing hit pieces.

00:16:31.940 Musk and executives at X looked into what Media Matters was claiming.

00:16:35.620 And in a statement posted to his account, Musk noted that, quote,

00:16:38.340 to manipulate the public and advertisers, Media Matters created an alternate account and curated the posts and advertising appearing on the account's timeline to misinform advertisers about the placement of their posts.

00:16:49.540 Specifically, an executive later alleged that, quote,

00:16:52.900 Media Matters created three accounts and followed 30 accounts similar to the ones in the article.

00:16:56.800 They then constantly refreshed the timeline of posts, 13 times the number of ads served to this user as opposed to the median.

00:17:03.600 50 impressions served against the content in the article out of 5.5 billion served the whole day.

00:17:08.480 Points to the fact of how efficient our model avoids content for advertisers.

00:17:13.020 Data wins over allegations.

00:17:14.180 So, in other words, if it all sounds kind of confusing, Media Matters appears to have engineered an artificial scenario to slander Elon Musk and X.

00:17:24.100 They didn't approach this in any kind of impartial way.

00:17:27.620 They weren't trying to gather information.

00:17:29.860 They were trying to write a malicious hit piece and cook the data, and they did.

00:17:33.660 And they appear to have cost Twitter X millions of dollars because of it.

00:17:39.700 Now, for conservatives, this is a familiar story.

00:17:42.000 This is the part where the right usually lies down, accepts their scolding from the far left, and goes into hiding,

00:17:48.300 all the while begging their enemies not to call them racist anymore.

00:17:51.640 But for once, that's not happening here.

00:17:54.380 After gathering all this data that reveals what Media Matters has done,

00:17:57.780 Musk wrote, quote,

00:17:59.580 The split-second court opens on Monday.

00:18:01.300 X Corp will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and all those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company.

00:18:08.260 Musk added that he's going after, quote,

00:18:09.740 Their board, their donors, their network of dark money, all of them.

00:18:13.760 Now, there are a handful of obvious justifications for a lawsuit by X against Media Matters.

00:18:20.320 For one, they appear to have deliberately interfered with X's contractual relationships with his advertisers,

00:18:24.920 using fraud and deceit in the process.

00:18:28.360 Well, what's maybe more interesting about this lawsuit, aside from the financial ramifications,

00:18:32.360 is what X could learn in discovery.

00:18:34.700 It'd be very interesting to uncover the potential level of collusion between Media Matters and all of these corporate advertisers.

00:18:42.160 It'd be very interesting to learn the extent of the Biden administration's involvement in all of this.

00:18:47.540 Mostly, it would be great to see these soulless hacks at Media Matters get punched back by the richest man on the planet.

00:18:53.720 Usually, they target people who don't have the resources to challenge them in court.

00:18:58.000 This is the game that these people play.

00:18:59.760 They have a lot of resources, a lot of money.

00:19:02.300 And usually, even if they go after someone who is just like regular rich,

00:19:06.880 it's still not, they don't have nearly enough money to withstand it or to survive any kind of court challenge or anything.

00:19:14.180 Elon Musk is the richest man on the planet.

00:19:16.160 So, if there's anything he has, it's resources.

00:19:20.420 Now, the truth is that the system hates Musk for a simple reason.

00:19:24.500 He has provided the one major platform in existence where we can all speak freely.

00:19:29.400 That's why they're coming after him.

00:19:31.000 He committed the cardinal sin of allowing us to speak.

00:19:33.520 And as far as Media Matters is concerned, this is unforgivable.

00:19:36.580 That's why Elon should, as he's threatened, sue them into bankruptcy and also boot them from his platform.

00:19:44.100 After all, they don't believe that everyone should have access to social media.

00:19:47.400 So, for once, let's hold them to their own standard.

00:19:50.540 If we can do that, the Media Matters and its various cutouts will be destroyed completely.

00:19:54.360 They will never come back.

00:19:56.340 And then the adults in this country can have real conversations about how to make our cities livable again.

00:20:00.580 We can talk about whether it's wise to endlessly print money to fund foreign wars and pay for useless bureaucrats while our currency loses value by the day.

00:20:10.600 We can have all these conversations and many more.

00:20:12.880 All the conversations that leftist activists desperately don't want us to have.

00:20:17.680 This was the fight that was inevitable from the day Elon Musk bought Twitter.

00:20:22.380 And now it's here and we need to win it.

00:20:26.320 Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:21:27.800 Daily Wire has this report.

00:21:29.980 The GOP-led House began on Friday to release tens of thousands of hours of video footage from January 6th, 2021,

00:21:36.540 the day of the U.S. Capitol breach to the public.

00:21:38.620 Speaker Mike Johnson, who was less than a month into the job,

00:21:40.880 announced the rolling disclosure of more than 40,000 hours of footage to a website.

00:21:46.480 His office said the footage will not include a small portion of video

00:21:49.700 that may contain sensitive security information or information that could lead to retaliation against private citizens.

00:21:54.300 Johnson said in a post to X, quote,

00:21:57.440 To restore America's trust and faith in their government, we must have transparency.

00:22:01.980 This is another step towards keeping the promises I made when I was elected to be your speaker.

00:22:06.080 Some Republican lawmakers and others have long pressed for the release of security footage of the day

00:22:09.580 when a crowd of people entered the U.S. Capitol.

00:22:11.120 But, of course, those up until now, people urging for that disclosure have been rebuffed.

00:22:19.280 And now it's all being made public.

00:22:21.380 Now, over the weekend, a bunch of, you know, previously unreleased videos started circulating on social media.

00:22:29.620 Well, on Twitter, at least, if Twitter didn't exist or if Elon Musk didn't own it,

00:22:34.840 then we could be pretty sure that these videos we would not see,

00:22:38.940 which is like another big reason why it's emblematic of the reason why the left wants to destroy Elon Musk.

00:22:46.880 So we'll take a look at one of the, this is a couple of videos we'll take a look at.

00:22:52.740 Here's one where we can see, it's just basically a stream of people kind of casually walking down the hallway.

00:22:59.640 Let's take a look at that briefly.

00:23:02.980 Okay.

00:23:03.280 Now, the people are just, you can see them just walking casually down the hallway.

00:23:06.840 They've got their flags.

00:23:08.120 The cops are standing there.

00:23:09.660 They're filming.

00:23:10.820 Very, very casual.

00:23:12.220 And that's a video.

00:23:12.720 And there's a lot of videos like that.

00:23:15.980 There's one other, before we talk about this, there's one other I want to show.

00:23:18.360 This one, you can see it's a, a, a protester is, is being let out in handcuffs.

00:23:26.160 But then the handcuffs are taken off and he fist bumps the officer and walks away.

00:23:31.640 Let's watch that one.

00:23:32.680 Okay.

00:23:32.840 There he is in the cuffs.

00:23:33.980 Appears to be wearing some kind of motorcycle helmet or something.

00:23:37.200 They take the handcuffs off.

00:23:38.560 He fist bumps the guy and then that's it.

00:23:41.680 Well, they give him his bag back and he walks away.

00:23:44.260 All right.

00:23:44.600 So, uh, what do we make of this?

00:23:49.280 Well, there's, there's a reason why it took them almost three years to release this footage.

00:23:53.600 You know, that's one thing we can learn from it.

00:23:55.900 There was never any good, legitimate reason to not release it.

00:23:59.360 I'll make the same argument I did with the, uh, the, the covenant shooter manifesto.

00:24:03.700 It is not the government's job to decide what information we need to be told.

00:24:08.400 And we are very accustomed to the government assuming that job that we, we almost would

00:24:14.240 think that this is one of the government's fundamental jobs because it's our entire lives.

00:24:19.960 This is how they, this is, this has been their primary function is to figure out what information

00:24:24.380 we should be told, suppress information.

00:24:26.020 This is, this is not the government's job.

00:24:27.840 Transparency should be the rule, not the exception, you know, unless it's a case, you know, actual

00:24:35.060 clear cut case of national security or some other rare exception, we should just be told

00:24:41.220 everything.

00:24:41.580 And this is especially true because even if I agreed that the state should, um, or would

00:24:48.500 be justified in withholding information from us because, uh, they don't want us to, to draw

00:24:53.240 politically inconvenient conclusions, which of course I don't agree with that.

00:24:57.680 But if I did, people will draw those conclusions if you don't tell them everything.

00:25:03.340 And in this case, whatever they were worried about people thinking about January 6th, we

00:25:09.140 already thought it because they wouldn't show us the tapes.

00:25:13.140 And now we see it, it only confirms what we already assumed.

00:25:17.300 So by their own logic, whatever they're trying to, uh, do, it's, it's self-defeating.

00:25:23.240 Um, and so then what was January 6th, you can see in all these videos, it obviously was

00:25:30.280 not an insurrection.

00:25:31.060 It was not a terrorist attack.

00:25:33.300 Um, it is not a tragedy on the level of 9-11.

00:25:35.740 It did not warrant three years of hearings and trials and theatrical productions, not

00:25:39.620 to mention that in some cases, you know, you've got decades and decades of prison time, uh,

00:25:44.580 didn't warrant all that.

00:25:45.540 It was something that in many cases was mild enough that lots of these people clearly didn't

00:25:52.020 even think they were breaking any laws.

00:25:54.800 That's why they're walking casually by these police officers in the hallway.

00:26:00.200 If you think that you're breaking a law, that's, that's not how you would conduct yourself.

00:26:04.220 I mean, if I was there and I saw people just being led into the Capitol building and allowed

00:26:10.880 to walk around while cops stand there and watch and give them fist bumps, um, and also if I was

00:26:18.300 extremely naive, so if all those things were true, I would probably assume that, okay, I guess we're

00:26:23.880 allowed to do this.

00:26:24.760 Now, I'm not naive, so I would have known as I, as I did on, on the day when this was

00:26:30.940 happening and said so, that these people are walking into a trap.

00:26:34.280 They're walking into something that's going to destroy their lives.

00:26:36.700 But for a lot of these people, as the videos clearly show, um, their crime was naivete.

00:26:42.860 They, they, they, that was it for a lot of them, not all of them, but a lot of them. 0.92

00:26:47.060 Um, and whatever else you want to say about it, to call this an insurrection is just ridiculous.

00:26:56.360 Like what insurrection in history could have ever been confused with a guided tour like

00:27:02.880 this one?

00:27:03.340 If I showed you that video and I, without context, and I told you, oh, this is a, some people

00:27:09.720 going on a guided tour of the Capitol.

00:27:11.380 You'd believe me.

00:27:12.220 You know, if you had no context at all, you saw this, okay, yeah, well, it's a big group

00:27:15.240 of people.

00:27:15.600 It's a little weird.

00:27:16.520 They have flags that they're carrying, but other than that, sure.

00:27:21.040 So that's what I want to, that's what, that is what I ask you.

00:27:23.980 Give me another example of an insurrection that you could pull like hundreds of hours of video

00:27:29.760 of the insurrection happening.

00:27:32.580 And if you didn't know any better, you would confuse it with a guided tour of a government

00:27:38.400 building, because that's what a lot of this looked like.

00:27:42.620 Um, and.

00:27:45.600 And so obviously what we're being told about it is absurd.

00:27:49.960 All right.

00:27:50.400 Speaking of Elon Musk, as we were in the opening, SpaceX launched its latest Starship on Saturday.

00:27:57.100 And I think we have the video of, yeah, we have that.

00:28:00.800 Let's take a look at the Starship launch here.

00:28:02.760 Pretty amazing.

00:28:18.020 I say that not sarcastic.

00:28:21.760 It sounds, everything I say sounds sarcastic, but I didn't mean sarcastic.

00:28:24.460 It was actually amazing.

00:28:26.780 All right.

00:28:27.360 So, um, here's a CNN report on that.

00:28:30.580 SpaceX's gargantuan deep space rocket system, Starship, safely lifted off Saturday morning,

00:28:35.820 but ended prematurely with an explosion and a loss of signal.

00:28:38.220 The Super Heavy booster and Starship spacecraft successfully separated after liftoff as the

00:28:42.400 Starship lit up its engines and pushed away.

00:28:44.700 The process ended up destroying the Super Heavy booster, which erupted into a ball of flames

00:28:47.940 over the Gulf of Mexico, but the Starship spacecraft was able to briefly continue its journey.

00:28:53.080 The Starship upper stage had begun its trip Saturday morning, strapped to the top of the

00:28:56.720 Super Heavy first stage, a 232 foot tall rocket about two and a half minutes after roaring to life

00:29:02.840 and vaulting off the launch pad, the Super Heavy booster expanded most of its fuel and, um,

00:29:08.460 and the Starship spacecraft fired its own engines and broke away.

00:29:12.120 Um, so now this was not a failure.

00:29:15.720 The rocket was not meant to go into outer space.

00:29:18.180 It was all part of the testing process. 0.99

00:29:20.400 And of course, with this launch, as with others, you know, you had morons in the media 0.99

00:29:24.920 and on social media snickering about it. 0.99

00:29:29.000 The rocket exploded. 1.00

00:29:31.180 Idiots. 1.00

00:29:32.560 And these, as always, are losers who achieve nothing of substance in their lives, 1.00

00:29:38.620 laughing at a guy who's building rockets to send to Mars. 0.95

00:29:43.040 This is a rocket, by the way, 121 meters.

00:29:45.340 Okay, the Empire State Building is like 400 meters.

00:29:47.740 So this is about a quarter of the size of the Empire State Building, which is really, really big.

00:29:51.340 Okay, this is, this is, this thing is, it is a skyscraper size.

00:29:54.640 So this is like, this is a skyscraper that is being launched into space.

00:29:58.540 It's going to hold 150 tons, 100 people.

00:30:01.160 It's designed to be reusable, which means take off and land and take off again.

00:30:05.920 And they're still building it and testing it.

00:30:08.320 But that's, that ultimately is what it will be.

00:30:10.700 It's a, this massive thing that can take off and land.

00:30:15.460 And it's, it's a monumental feat.

00:30:20.760 And of course, the ultimate goal is to take people to Mars.

00:30:24.040 And look, you know that I'm, I'm a nerd about this stuff.

00:30:27.640 I don't, I'm not going to give you the whole speech again.

00:30:29.320 You've heard the speech.

00:30:30.600 I'm not going to give you the whole speech.

00:30:32.700 I'm a huge believer in space exploration.

00:30:35.240 I think going to Mars is a great goal.

00:30:38.200 It would be, without question, the greatest human achievement of all time.

00:30:42.740 If Elon Musk can pull it off, then he will be the author of the greatest human achievement ever.

00:30:48.080 And that's why it's so ridiculous to me when you hear people who are like, well, why do you,

00:30:51.940 why do you want to go to Mars? 0.63

00:30:53.240 What's the point?

00:30:54.960 Really?

00:30:55.740 Why does someone want to achieve the greatest thing ever in history?

00:30:59.120 Why?

00:30:59.480 Why is that not self-evident to you?

00:31:02.600 I don't know, because it's the greatest thing ever in history.

00:31:05.100 It's like, that's, that's enough reason.

00:31:06.340 I don't think you need any other reason but that.

00:31:10.020 Why does somebody want to fundamentally like alter the trajectory of the entire human species?

00:31:15.220 Why does someone want to expand the reach of the human race beyond our planet?

00:31:20.140 Why do we want to be able to see and explore the rest of the universe that we live in?

00:31:26.000 I mean, why?

00:31:29.480 The people that ask why does something like that, it's like, we, you know, we can't be

00:31:32.940 friends.

00:31:33.360 I don't want to talk to you. 0.89

00:31:34.720 You're too boring. 1.00

00:31:35.620 You're too dull. 1.00

00:31:36.440 You're too stupid. 1.00

00:31:37.420 You don't have the spirit of discovery. 1.00

00:31:39.340 You don't have greatness within you, which is why you don't understand greatness.

00:31:43.700 I don't know what else to say to you.

00:31:45.320 There's nothing else to say.

00:31:46.280 But this is what we need right now as a species, as a civilization.

00:31:51.020 I believe that.

00:31:52.600 We were great as a civilization when we were exploring, when we were discovering.

00:31:58.420 And a civilization that loses its spirit of discovery is a civilization that loses its

00:32:03.540 will to exist.

00:32:05.660 And so don't give me that, well, we have bigger problems here on earth to solve. 0.99

00:32:08.440 You sound like every dumb, boring, inconsequential nobody may say or in history. 0.98

00:32:15.560 You sound like the people that tried to dissuade Magellan and Columbus and Armstrong and Shackleton 1.00

00:32:20.460 and Amundsen.

00:32:21.520 I mean, all of these great names that you know or should know, you sound like the people who

00:32:28.140 are on the opposing side who say, oh, don't bother.

00:32:31.600 What's the point of doing that?

00:32:32.820 That's pointless.

00:32:33.860 We've got bigger problems here.

00:32:35.200 Like, not everything that people do is designed to solve our practical problems that we're

00:32:40.840 experiencing day to day.

00:32:41.920 We should deal with those problems, too.

00:32:44.320 But we need to have people that are focused beyond that.

00:32:47.160 Okay?

00:32:47.360 People that are focused beyond, like, the immediate right now.

00:32:51.660 And what would it be like?

00:32:52.720 What would it be like if your side of the argument, if you're one of these, there's no point.

00:32:57.820 Why?

00:32:58.180 Why do it?

00:32:59.120 Why do a great thing?

00:33:00.680 Why?

00:33:01.640 If you're one of these people, do you understand that if your side of the argument had won

00:33:04.800 historically, like, what kind of a world would we live in right now?

00:33:09.580 A much smaller one, I can tell you that.

00:33:11.240 One without greatness.

00:33:12.780 One without achievement.

00:33:16.680 But I'm not giving you the whole speech.

00:33:19.180 I just did, but I'm not.

00:33:21.500 So, just stop all of it.

00:33:22.820 Stop.

00:33:24.540 Stop not caring about this stuff.

00:33:27.140 Stop not caring about it.

00:33:28.320 Stop it.

00:33:29.380 Or start it.

00:33:30.020 Start caring.

00:33:31.120 Better way to say that.

00:33:31.780 Okay, back to politics, unfortunately.

00:33:35.080 Trump has now moved ahead of Biden in the polls.

00:33:38.100 And what the media mournfully tells us is a historic moment when Trump is beating Biden

00:33:44.020 in the polls.

00:33:45.340 Here is the media talking about this and expressing total shock and dismay.

00:33:50.800 Watch.

00:33:50.960 Donald Trump, we have at 46 percent.

00:33:54.260 Biden, 44.

00:33:55.880 And this is significant because this is the first time in the history of our poll that

00:34:01.420 former President Trump beats President Biden still within the margin of error, but still

00:34:07.360 significant.

00:34:07.960 Yeah.

00:34:08.140 It's 2019, 2020.

00:34:09.600 When Trump was president, he trailed all of them.

00:34:12.060 This year, he's trailed all of them in our poll.

00:34:14.120 First time in more than a dozen polls, we've seen a result like this.

00:34:17.500 Some of the other ingredients that go into that, Biden has long had an advantage over

00:34:21.280 Trump on likability.

00:34:22.980 Look at the start of this year, 39 percent said they had a positive view of Biden, barely

00:34:27.360 30 of Trump.

00:34:28.600 We've seen consistently a gap like this.

00:34:30.740 Now, the gap is gone.

00:34:32.760 36 positive on both.

00:34:34.460 And actually, Biden, one point more negative than Trump.

00:34:38.100 That's been a significant advantage for Biden.

00:34:39.920 Our poll says that advantage, at least for now, may be gone.

00:34:42.760 And we talked about younger voters on foreign policy.

00:34:45.080 And it's true on a host of other topics, disaffected with Joe Biden.

00:34:49.460 We have 46 percent for Trump, 42 percent for Biden among the youngest voters.

00:34:54.180 The youngest voters in the 2020 election were Biden plus 26.

00:34:58.960 This could be a massive sea change.

00:35:01.340 OK.

00:35:01.500 And if you take a look here, too.

00:35:03.220 So those are the results.

00:35:04.720 And they're shocked by this.

00:35:06.800 But imagine being shocked by this.

00:35:10.420 We talked before about naivete. 0.94

00:35:11.680 Well, I mean, the naivete of being shocked by this, shocked that a senile, decrepit president

00:35:20.580 who has run the most incompetent White House in history and overseen the decline of every

00:35:25.520 aspect of American life is now losing.

00:35:28.160 You're surprised?

00:35:30.500 Why is he losing?

00:35:31.680 He's just senile and has dementia and can't speak or walk or talk.

00:35:36.860 And everything has gotten worse under his tenure.

00:35:41.580 Why is he losing?

00:35:43.940 And by the way, Biden is losing to everyone in the polls.

00:35:46.380 Any Republican beats him.

00:35:48.620 Anyone.

00:35:49.900 And so there's only one question for Democrats.

00:35:52.000 And here's what they have to decide.

00:35:54.040 This is what they are.

00:35:55.000 You know, this is what they are talking about right now in private and even somewhat out

00:36:02.420 in the open, which is, do they want to replace Biden now and deal with all with all that that

00:36:08.340 entails?

00:36:11.400 Which also part of the calculation, too, is that if they replace Biden and they take some

00:36:18.740 who they consider to be some young and up and coming star and they throw him in there against

00:36:23.680 Trump, then does that person run the risk of getting totally sullied and beaten by Trump?

00:36:31.320 And then you've just destroyed the career of this person who you want to be the future

00:36:36.100 of the Democratic Party.

00:36:37.100 So another thing that they're looking at is like, hey, maybe we're going to lose anyway

00:36:41.220 in 2024.

00:36:42.380 And so we might as well make Biden the scapegoat for that because he's like old and he's going

00:36:47.040 to be dead and no one cares.

00:36:48.740 So I think the thing about all these things, do they want to actually make an effort to

00:36:53.240 win or not?

00:36:54.840 And if not, then can they just rely on the fact that they own the bureaucracy and they'll

00:37:03.500 still own the bureaucracy no matter who wins?

00:37:07.600 So this is part of the calculation for Democrats all the time.

00:37:10.680 They're saying, well, we want to win so we can run the government.

00:37:14.920 If we don't win, we still run the government.

00:37:18.740 And this has been their approach for decades after all. 1.00

00:37:22.860 Now, sure, when Democrats lose the White House, lose an election, the idiot leftists in the 1.00

00:37:29.300 street start crying and they're shouting and screaming and all that and shouting no to the 1.00

00:37:34.220 heavens in despair.

00:37:35.060 But the smart ones, the ones in power, they know that they remain in power regardless.

00:37:41.620 And that's why we've seen this march leftward in our government that continues unabated no

00:37:46.960 matter who is in office.

00:37:49.140 Nobody's reversed this.

00:37:50.660 No Republican has reversed this.

00:37:52.020 Trump didn't reverse it.

00:37:53.280 He left and they picked right back up where they were before.

00:37:57.040 They erased everything that he did in like a day.

00:38:01.020 And and and so that's their attitude.

00:38:04.660 That's that's the thing.

00:38:05.600 It's like so.

00:38:06.300 So and this is the thing I don't hear conservatives very often acknowledging that for Democrats,

00:38:11.640 that is what they're choosing between.

00:38:12.980 It's like, do they do they want to actually try to win the White House?

00:38:18.580 So they can run the government in 2024 or do they want to say, OK, well, we don't need

00:38:22.860 to win and we'll just run the government the way we were during the Trump administration.

00:38:27.720 And I'm not being a defeatist when I say this.

00:38:29.560 I'm just saying what I've been saying, which is that if a Republican wins in 2024, they need

00:38:35.700 to go to war against the bureaucracy.

00:38:38.040 Call it the swamp.

00:38:39.220 Call it the deep state.

00:38:40.240 Call it whatever you want to call it.

00:38:43.340 It is the bureaucracy.

00:38:45.400 OK, maybe that's not like as fun of a of a nickname for it, but that's actually what

00:38:52.900 it is.

00:38:53.340 It is the bureaucracy, the federal bureaucracy, which, as we've been talking about, is is

00:38:57.900 massive, OK, like astronomically huge.

00:39:03.840 And it is totally ideologically captured by the left.

00:39:10.240 And that doesn't make it a hopeless situation, but it is hopeless if whoever wins the White

00:39:17.740 House as a Republican is not dead set on completely dismantling this thing.

00:39:24.740 And dealing with all because if you set out to do it, you put in place something like the

00:39:29.440 VEX plan, cutting 50 percent of them right off the bat and then continuing to cut.

00:39:34.300 But if you do something like that, the outrage from the media, it's like we've never seen

00:39:39.720 if you think they're mad at Trump, you've never seen how they would respond to that.

00:39:43.640 I mean, it's like unimaginable, the levels of outrage.

00:39:46.900 And they're going to try to destroy you.

00:39:48.160 Of course, they're going to take you to court.

00:39:49.220 They're going to try to impeach you.

00:39:50.260 They're going to do everything.

00:39:50.860 They're going to try to put you in prison for it.

00:39:52.160 Like they're going to fight because they would.

00:39:54.880 And why would they do that?

00:39:55.680 Because they recognize that, OK, now you're actually getting to the heart of their power and

00:39:59.800 they cannot allow that.

00:40:00.920 So we shouldn't be ourselves naive about what about what that would mean.

00:40:07.660 But this is what's necessary.

00:40:10.600 You have to gut it. 0.86

00:40:11.580 You have to carve it to pieces. 1.00

00:40:12.640 You have to destroy it.

00:40:14.700 And if you don't, if we get someone in there in 2024 and they don't do anything about the

00:40:19.200 bureaucracy and they just are kind of like in the White House and then they leave, then

00:40:23.300 we gain nothing from it.

00:40:25.020 It doesn't matter.

00:40:26.840 It simply doesn't matter.

00:40:27.940 To have a Republican president who just sits there for four years and then leaves and doesn't

00:40:31.660 do anything about the bureaucracy, it makes no difference.

00:40:34.040 It makes no difference.

00:40:35.500 And whatever small difference can be made can be erased by that same bureaucracy like that.

00:40:42.820 So we know what Ramaswamy's plan is.

00:40:46.520 We've heard from DeSantis.

00:40:47.780 We need detailed, detailed plans about what are they going to do about this bureaucracy slash

00:40:54.160 swamp slash deep state.

00:40:55.740 What are they going to do to destroy it?

00:40:57.940 All right.

00:41:00.240 Finally, from Daily Wire, outspoken leftist author Stephen King blamed the box office

00:41:05.000 failure of the Marvels on woman-hating fanboys.

00:41:08.580 Most of the social media followers aren't letting him get away with it.

00:41:12.900 Stephen King said, some of the rejection of the Marvels may be adolescent fanboy hate.

00:41:21.520 You know, yuck girls. 1.00

00:41:24.980 That's what he said.

00:41:25.900 This was after Marvels was a massive disappointment for the MCU, pulling in just $47 million during

00:41:30.440 its opening weekend, the lowest in the franchise's history.

00:41:34.420 But what's funny is that there's a few things funny about this, but King, Stephen King, earlier

00:41:39.820 the same day, had tweeted this.

00:41:42.180 I don't go to MCU movies, don't care for them, but I find this barely masked gloating over

00:41:46.920 the low box office for the Marvels very unpleasant.

00:41:49.900 Why gloat over failure?

00:41:51.180 So he's sure that the only reason people don't like it is because they're sexist, but he hasn't

00:41:54.480 even seen the movie and isn't interested in seeing it himself.

00:41:58.140 As far as why people are gloating over the failure, Steve and I will answer that for you.

00:42:03.680 We're gloating.

00:42:04.740 Well, I'm gloating.

00:42:05.500 I can only speak for myself.

00:42:08.080 But I'm gloating because the Marvels represents everything that is terrible about modern films,

00:42:13.580 everything that is destroying modern films.

00:42:15.500 And it's bad that modern films are being destroyed because film is an important and powerful art

00:42:20.020 form.

00:42:20.340 It really matters.

00:42:20.980 But it's being cannibalized by the Marvels and all the stuff like it.

00:42:25.920 And specifically, the Marvels is, first of all, of course, a lifeless, cash-grab superhero

00:42:31.020 movie that does not exist for any reason other than making money.

00:42:35.340 We talked about this last week.

00:42:36.780 You know that I'm not a superhero fan.

00:42:40.780 But this is the point, like, this is the central criticism that I have of these kinds

00:42:45.120 of things.

00:42:46.040 I know there are plenty of people that don't like the Marvels, but they like superhero movies

00:42:48.680 in general, and so they don't like it when I criticize it.

00:42:51.980 But, you know, these films, and it's not just superhero movies.

00:42:56.860 It's like all these franchise films, Star Wars, all the rest of it, all this stuff.

00:43:01.040 They exist only to make money.

00:43:03.840 And yes, every movie has people financing it and producing it who are perhaps mainly or

00:43:10.620 even solely concerned about the money.

00:43:12.720 So every movie is supposed to make money.

00:43:14.220 Every movie has people involved at some level who only care about the money.

00:43:18.880 Of course, that is true.

00:43:20.560 But traditionally, you have people, the people who are most connected to the film, like the

00:43:27.320 actual filmmakers and actors who also want to make money.

00:43:35.260 But before that, they want to tell a story.

00:43:38.040 They're making the movie because they are saying to the audience, we've got this great story

00:43:42.840 we want to tell you.

00:43:43.940 And there are still some filmmakers out there like this.

00:43:48.880 You know, someone like Paul Thomas Anderson, a filmmaker like that, a real filmmaker, a brilliant

00:43:54.060 genius filmmaker, who makes a movie because he's saying, like, I've got a story I want

00:43:58.800 to tell you, and so it's an important story to me, and so I'm going to tell you this story.

00:44:03.260 Gather around, kids.

00:44:04.320 Gather around the campfire.

00:44:05.280 I'm going to tell you a story.

00:44:06.180 Well, these superhero movies don't have anyone involved at any level who actually wants to

00:44:15.600 tell the story or cares about the story.

00:44:17.700 Literally every single person at every level, from the actors and directors and producers

00:44:23.220 all the way up to people running the film, the production companies, everyone involved.

00:44:29.320 They're just doing, they're only doing it for the money.

00:44:31.640 They don't care about the story.

00:44:33.020 The story is, like, basically non-existent.

00:44:35.000 They're exploiting a brand.

00:44:36.320 They're not telling a story at all.

00:44:39.860 So nobody involved in the Marvels actually said to themselves, oh man, this is a story

00:44:44.760 I just have to tell.

00:44:46.420 Nobody said that.

00:44:48.140 Whoever wrote the script wasn't saying, like, didn't feel as they were writing.

00:44:52.420 And you could tell, like, when you watch, when I say lifeless, that's what I mean by lifeless,

00:44:56.120 that you could tell there's no artistic passion from anyone involved in this thing, including

00:45:02.060 the people who wrote it.

00:45:02.840 The person who wrote it, whoever wrote the Marvels, or multiple people who wrote it,

00:45:06.420 they were just, it's like they're punching in nine to five, and they were told to write

00:45:09.560 this thing because it's a brand and they want to make, and so they wrote it, and they don't

00:45:13.660 care about it.

00:45:14.420 They just wrote it, and they made money, and that's it.

00:45:15.920 And I'm not saying that every movie has to be Paul Thomas Anderson.

00:45:22.740 I'm not saying every movie has to be, like, deeply artistically brilliant.

00:45:28.140 You can have movies that are just fun, but even fun movies, to be actually fun, they have

00:45:34.740 to value the story that they're telling.

00:45:37.160 And if nobody cares about the story, then it is going to be boring and lifeless, no matter

00:45:42.540 how many fancy special effects they put on the screen.

00:45:45.780 So that is why I, at least, am gloating over this, and then on top of the wokeness and the

00:45:50.540 political correctness and everything else.

00:45:52.580 To me, that's, like, secondary to this greater problem.

00:45:56.200 All right, let's get to Was Walsh Wrong?

00:46:01.540 You know, while you're out shopping for kids, family, and friends this weekend, don't forget

00:46:05.360 to shop for your pets, too.

00:46:14.120 health of every dog in America.

00:46:16.000 Before I started feeding my dog rough greens, I had no idea that dog food is dead food.

00:46:20.220 It contains very little nutritional value.

00:46:22.240 Think about it.

00:46:22.660 Nutrition isn't brown.

00:46:23.780 It's green.

00:46:24.440 Let rough greens bring your dog's food back to life. 0.88

00:47:02.640 That's R-U-F-F-GREENS.com slash Matt or call 844-ROUGH-700 today.

00:47:08.400 Last week we talked about drug legalization.

00:47:10.760 I pointed out how it has been a disaster everywhere, especially in Oregon, where they decriminalized all drugs.

00:47:17.660 But even in places where they only legalized or decriminalized weed, it has also been bad.

00:47:25.680 It's been pretty disastrous.

00:47:27.160 Lots of commenters didn't appreciate that part of our discussion especially, so I'll read a few comments about that.

00:47:32.300 The Right Stuff says, you cannot compare a plant made by God slash nature to a man-made chemical derivative.

00:47:38.320 Cigarettes and alcohol are much more of a slippery slope than marijuana.

00:47:41.360 It affects different people in different ways.

00:47:43.280 It's not for everyone either.

00:47:44.940 Drug war shootouts are far more deadly.

00:47:47.580 The other comment says, Matt just contradicted himself.

00:47:51.240 He says marijuana causes violence, but then he says that marijuana is encouraged so the masses can be drugged and passive.

00:47:57.680 So you seem to be suggesting that one cannot be both passive and violent, which I think is absolutely not true.

00:48:05.740 One cannot be both apathetic and violent, you're saying, which I would say absolutely you could not be more wrong about that.

00:48:13.060 In fact, the worst forms of violence are the ones that are committed apathetically, indifferently.

00:48:21.080 But, well, I'll keep reading that.

00:48:22.880 I'll respond in general to this.

00:48:24.420 Galileo Telescope says, I'm a moderate who leans left but still likes Matt Walsh.

00:48:27.980 That being said, when will conservative influencers learn that weed is a losing issue?

00:48:31.680 Even most Republicans support it.

00:48:34.000 B. Lloyd says, Matt, I'm an OG member of the SBG, but your take on marijuana making people more violent is so aggressively wrong

00:48:39.660 that I'm starting to wonder about your credibility on other topics now.

00:48:42.200 Now, I've known many potheads and not once has weed made any of them more violent.

00:48:47.600 Team Clueless says, Walsh, you know better than anyone else that it's not the weed, it's the people.

00:48:52.260 Same way it is with the guns.

00:48:53.680 A good person using weed will not be any more likely to commit a crime.

00:48:58.500 Okay, let me note a few things here. 0.92

00:49:02.300 First of all, the whole argument that weed is a plant, so it's okay to consume, is ridiculous.

00:49:09.660 Opium is a plant.

00:49:10.720 Lots of things are plants, but they're not supposed to be consumed.

00:49:15.320 Like, just because it grows naturally doesn't mean you're automatically supposed to eat it,

00:49:19.760 much less light it on fire and smoke it.

00:49:23.480 So there are a lot of poisonous, organically grown plants out there that you should not put in your body or on your body.

00:49:33.840 So that alone does not, well, God made it.

00:49:37.760 God made it, so therefore, automatically, you can set it on fire and inhale it, and it's a good idea?

00:49:44.880 What kind of a thought process is that?

00:49:49.700 Second, related to that, it was claimed that cigarettes are so much worse than weed, but tobacco is also a plant.

00:49:55.380 But alcohol, okay, alcohol comes from, depending on what kind of alcohol you're talking about, but let's say whiskey, for example,

00:50:05.300 there are the plants and grains that are used to make the alcohol.

00:50:11.220 So, and besides, say whatever you want about, say, cigarettes, two things cannot be denied.

00:50:17.860 One, tobacco helped build this country, okay?

00:50:21.660 We would not have a country without tobacco.

00:50:24.440 Without a tobacco plant, this country doesn't exist.

00:50:26.420 So it has been crucial, central to this country from its foundation.

00:50:32.560 The same cannot be said for marijuana.

00:50:35.700 Tobacco is as American as apple pie.

00:50:38.700 It is.

00:50:39.560 You don't have to like it, but it is.

00:50:41.320 Second, I would much, much rather live in a society filled with people who are on nicotine over people who are stoned.

00:50:50.460 Nicotine makes you more alert, more productive.

00:50:53.940 Weed does not have that effect, okay?

00:50:56.260 Like back when everyone smoked cigarettes everywhere, you go back to like the 40s, everyone's smoking cigarettes.

00:51:03.380 Everywhere you go, just everything smells like cigarettes.

00:51:06.040 And back then, we were a highly productive country.

00:51:09.120 We have never been more productive.

00:51:11.660 That's back when we were building skyscrapers and winning world wars and going to the moon and stuff.

00:51:17.160 Now, I'm not saying all that happened because of cigarettes.

00:51:18.960 I'm just saying that societally, the effects of cigarettes are actually pretty positive, and same is not true of weed.

00:51:29.980 Okay?

00:51:30.920 Like, does anyone really want to deny that?

00:51:33.500 Take a city.

00:51:35.500 Have everyone smoke cigarettes.

00:51:37.260 They're all dosing themselves with nicotine.

00:51:39.860 Have another city.

00:51:40.460 Everyone's stoned.

00:51:42.200 Which city do you think, which one would you rather live in?

00:51:44.200 Like, which one do you think is going to be more productive?

00:51:46.600 Third point, the research says what it says about the link between weed and violence.

00:51:50.980 The link between weed and psychosis.

00:51:52.660 It's a psychoactive drug.

00:51:54.080 It messes with people's minds.

00:51:56.380 It just does.

00:51:57.220 And fourth and finally, nobody's really answered my question or taken up my challenge on this topic.

00:52:05.600 So here it is again.

00:52:08.020 Can you argue that the legalization or decriminalization of weed in cities across this country has made those cities better?

00:52:16.460 Has the policy made our society a better place to live, yes or no?

00:52:21.520 Tell me that it has.

00:52:23.260 You really want to say that?

00:52:24.200 But if you travel around the country, as I do now, and you go everywhere, everything just reeks of weed, everyone's stoned, is that made us better?

00:52:33.120 Is it like, are you saying, oh, it's a much better place to live?

00:52:35.700 This is great.

00:52:36.720 This is certainly preferable to before.

00:52:40.180 You want to claim that.

00:52:41.240 How so?

00:52:42.380 So, look, I know if you smoke a lot of weeds and you hear this kind of thing, you take it as a personal attack.

00:52:46.400 I get it.

00:52:46.800 I don't care.

00:52:49.140 But if you can, just try to think objectively about it.

00:52:52.240 Just for a second.

00:52:52.920 Just put yourself aside for a second.

00:52:55.180 Think objectively about it.

00:52:56.520 How has this made our country a better place?

00:53:00.320 And I would argue, I guess this is like controversial or something.

00:53:05.220 It shouldn't be.

00:53:05.780 But any policy that is being proposed, like the policy of legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana, anyone who is proposing a policy, a law, a change in the law, the first question that should be asked is how will it make society a better place to live?

00:53:28.900 That should be the first question.

00:53:32.660 Yes, before even questions of what are our rights?

00:53:36.020 Is it right?

00:53:37.460 To me, does it make society a better place?

00:53:39.420 That's a more important question.

00:53:42.140 Because if the answer is, if you could say, well, here's a policy, and I say, how does it make society better?

00:53:48.460 Oh, no, no, it makes it worse.

00:53:50.080 Well, why the hell would we do it then?

00:53:52.720 Like, if it makes life worse, then what's the point of it?

00:53:55.700 Why would we knowingly embark on a path that is going to make society worse for everybody living in it?

00:54:05.820 Again, it's this libertarian mind virus that people still suffer from, where they think that, like, that kind of consideration shouldn't even be taken.

00:54:14.320 We shouldn't even take that into consideration, according to a lot of libertarians.

00:54:17.640 The idea, like, the question of whether it makes our life better is irrelevant to them, which is crazy.

00:54:25.700 And so if somebody has an argument, and they can look around at our cities now where weed is legalized and say, oh, yeah, it's better.

00:54:34.040 It's better now because of that.

00:54:35.640 Go ahead and make that argument.

00:54:37.180 But if you're not making that argument, then you're not really responding to me at all.

00:54:39.920 You're saying things that are irrelevant.

00:56:17.420 You know, I've never been a fan of beauty pageants.

00:56:26.120 Certainly, any beauty pageant involving children is creepy and bizarre, to put it mildly.

00:56:30.880 Adult beauty pageants are perhaps not so viscerally disturbing nor necessarily inappropriate, but still, they've never really interested me.

00:56:38.200 And yet, as to this latter category, I can understand the idea behind them.

00:56:42.940 That's because the concept is very basic. In some ways, it's the most basic of concepts.

00:56:48.140 It's an opportunity to admire and celebrate beautiful women, which is something that human beings have always done through history and in every culture.

00:56:55.700 In fact, beauty pageants can trace their lineage back to the Middle Ages.

00:56:59.160 They weren't called beauty pageants at the time, but the idea was basically the same.

00:57:02.580 Get together all the beautiful women in a certain area and crown one of them the most beautiful of all.

00:57:07.580 Now, whether this is a worthwhile activity is a different question, but at least the activity is comprehensible.

00:57:13.480 It serves a function. Whatever else you might say about that function, it still serves one.

00:57:19.140 But what happens when an event meant to celebrate beautiful women removes both of the elements of the thing that it's supposed to be celebrating?

00:57:27.180 What happens when your culture goes so completely insane that beauty pageants no longer care about whether a woman is beautiful or even whether she's actually a woman? 0.94

00:57:35.680 What happens is you end up with the debacle known as Miss Universe. 1.00

00:57:40.680 The annual Miss Universe pageant was held in El Salvador this weekend.

00:57:43.940 Miss Universe has been running for 72 years, and for most of those seven decades, it went the way that beauty pageants typically go.

00:57:50.020 It made sense in its way. It did what beauty pageants are supposed to do, which is celebrate beautiful women. 1.00

00:57:57.260 Yet, in the era of wokeness, nothing in the grip of the disease is allowed to do what it is supposed to do.

00:58:03.200 That includes, especially includes, beauty pageants.

00:58:05.680 So, here's what the Miss Universe competition looked like in 2023, reading from the Daily Mail.

00:58:11.780 Nicaragua's Shainis Palacios has been crowned Miss Universe 2023 at the 72nd Annual Beauty Pageant held in San Salvador last night,

00:58:19.780 making history as the first delegate from Nicaragua to win the title.

00:58:23.900 It all makes sense so far, but let's continue.

00:58:26.100 In addition to Shainis' victory, the event saw several more historic firsts, including two mother candidates, two transgender women, and a plus-size individual.

00:58:34.000 Shainis, 23, pipped Antonio Porcild of Thailand for the prestigious title.

00:58:39.920 Pipped?

00:58:40.960 What the hell does that mean?

00:58:41.880 You can't just throw that word in there.

00:58:43.900 Pipped?

00:58:44.460 Pipter?

00:58:45.300 It's a British.

00:58:46.020 It's a British word, I guess. 1.00

00:58:48.060 Damn, Brits. 1.00

00:58:48.600 Anyway, it looked elated as she was crowned by last year's winner, USA's Rabani Nola Gabriel. 0.99

00:58:56.660 Two trans women featured at the pageant this year, Rikki Kole, a 22-year-old LGBTQIA plus rights activist who was crowned Miss Netherlands in July,

00:59:04.760 and Miss Portugal's Marina Machete, Marina Machete, who works as, what is with the names? 0.61

00:59:11.920 Second, what is with all the names here?

00:59:14.280 This whole article is conspiring against me.

00:59:17.720 None of these names makes, these aren't even names.

00:59:20.940 Marina Machete. 0.99

00:59:21.940 She works as Cabin Crew and was named as her country's entry in October.

00:59:28.280 Also eliminated at the time, at the same stage, was Pakistan's first entry into the competition, Erica Robin, who wore a bikini, a burkini in the swimsuit round.

00:59:38.440 Now, you can see here the plus-size competitor and the one in the burkini.

00:59:42.060 Burkini, and for those who are listening to the audio podcast, if you're wondering what a burkini is, it's apparently just a burka that you call a burkini if you're wearing it in the water.

00:59:52.800 Though wearing a full robe in the water seems impractical and also potentially hazardous.

00:59:57.780 And for the record, I don't at all intend to mock any woman whose faith calls her to abide by strict forms of modesty.

01:00:04.740 Better to be too modest than not modest enough from my perspective.

01:00:07.420 But the burka would seem to defeat the purpose of a bikini contest. 1.00

01:00:11.980 Like, it's like wearing a poncho to compete in a wet t-shirt contest.

01:00:15.840 If you're really interested in being modest, which is great, it seems that you just wouldn't be on stage for the event in the first place.

01:00:23.160 The greater absurdity, of course, is the presence of the quote-unquote trans women, otherwise known as men, 1.00

01:00:27.940 who managed to be crowned the most beautiful women of their respective countries in order to win a spot in the Miss Universe pageant.

01:00:33.740 Which is a pretty brutal insult to the actual women of Portugal and the Netherlands, given that these two men look like this. 0.80

01:00:40.900 Let's watch.

01:00:42.640 Now, keep in mind as you see that, that this is the absolute best that a man can hope to achieve in his effort to become a woman.

01:01:02.000 This is the product of thousands of dollars of makeup, plastic surgery, professional stylists, makeup artists, lighting, all the rest of it.

01:01:11.300 Like, all of this effort and time and money gone into their appearance.

01:01:16.280 Most quote-unquote trans women will never get close to that. 0.98

01:01:19.820 Most end up looking like Rachel Levine.

01:01:21.540 And yet, even these two, even these two, standing at the pinnacle of faux womanhood, competing in an international beauty pageant as women, 0.81

01:01:32.500 still they look nothing like actual women.

01:01:35.400 They are still cartoonish, inauthentic, unearthly imitations of women. 1.00

01:01:40.740 They are as close to a woman as a man can get, and yet they are still a galaxy away. 1.00

01:01:46.600 They are still an eternity away, as close as you can get, and yet they are really no closer than any one.

01:01:53.720 They're no closer than Rachel Levine.

01:01:55.060 Now, it's no surprise, though, that they made it on stage, given that the person who runs the company,

01:02:03.020 that now owns Miss Universe, looks and sounds like this. 0.98

01:02:06.420 Watch.

01:02:07.580 Miss Universe organization.

01:02:11.420 From now on, it's going to be ran by women. 1.00

01:02:16.340 Owned by trans women. 0.97

01:02:18.540 For all women.

01:02:19.920 For all women.

01:02:20.120 For all women.

01:02:25.060 For all women really around the world to celebrate the power of feminism.

01:02:35.220 It's just, look, you are who you are.

01:02:37.640 You cannot escape who you are, which is why they're always, you know, all the plastic surgery, everything else that goes into it.

01:02:44.720 You can't, the voice, you can still tell it by the voice.

01:02:48.200 The shoulders, the hands, like things like that.

01:02:50.180 It's just, you're still a man.

01:02:52.520 You cannot get away from it.

01:02:55.200 You cannot even escape one inch from who you actually are.

01:02:59.480 You are, that is who you are.

01:03:01.080 And you will never be anything but that.

01:03:04.340 But, he says, Miss Universe is now finally run by women, except for the fact that it's run by a man.

01:03:10.460 Run, as it turns out, completely into the ground.

01:03:12.340 Indeed, mere days before the pageant featuring the obese woman and the women who are not women, Miss Universe filed for bankruptcy.

01:03:19.280 These are, of course, not disconnected events.

01:03:22.180 A beauty pageant that does not focus exclusively on beautiful women, or even just on women, serves no purpose.

01:03:28.540 So, say whatever you want about its original purpose, at least it had one, now it has none.

01:03:32.660 There's no reason for anyone to care about it.

01:03:34.460 It's just a hodgepodge of random things happening.

01:03:37.720 A fat woman walks on stage, a man walks on stage, a woman in a burka, an Amish guy, like, whatever.

01:03:43.940 That's what a beauty pageant is, that's just random people on stage walking around. 1.00

01:03:48.580 What's the point of any of it?

01:03:50.160 It has become an absurdity, a mockery.

01:03:52.700 It was frivolous before, like a beauty pageant before were frivolous, but now they're incoherent.

01:03:59.380 And those two things are not the same.

01:04:01.480 There is a place for frivolity, but you need some of that in society.

01:04:06.400 There is no place for incoherence.

01:04:09.160 By definition, there is no place for it.

01:04:10.540 You wouldn't know where to put it.

01:04:11.580 And this is what leftism does.

01:04:14.360 It is like a giant shovel that comes in, scoops out the content of a thing, leaving a gaping hole behind.

01:04:22.480 And not to get too graphic, but it is perhaps not a coincidence that certain gender-affirming procedures can also be described that way.

01:04:29.160 It is what leftism does in microcosm and literally, and also in macrocosm and figuratively.

01:04:35.700 Take something that at least made sense, that served some kind of purpose, however important or superficial it was, and rip it to shreds.

01:04:44.940 Destroy whatever meaning it had.

01:04:47.500 Leaving behind something strange and ugly and pointless, and also very often bankrupt.

01:04:51.940 This is what's being done to all of Western civilization, and in comparison, beauty pageants are a rather minor concern.

01:04:59.480 But they serve as a warning sign, if nothing else.

01:05:02.920 And that is also why Miss Universe is, today, by its own choice, cancelled.

01:05:09.800 That'll do it for the show today.

01:05:10.940 Thanks for watching.

01:05:11.460 Thanks for listening.

01:05:12.060 Have a great day.

01:05:12.880 Talk to you tomorrow.

01:05:13.820 Godspeed.
