00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, a community in Louisiana is accused of racism after seceding
00:00:03.780 from a crumbling, crime-infested city and forming their own. Is this a solution that
00:00:07.840 could be adopted nationwide? Also, the frat boy uprising continues in response to the
00:00:12.400 leftist protests on college campuses across the country. The Biden administration seems
00:00:16.100 intent on promoting marijuana usage as much as possible. Why is that? There's been yet
00:00:20.420 another rash of pit bull attacks around the nation. You may think that you know my opinion
00:00:24.860 about it, but I might surprise you. All of that and more today on the Matt Wall Show.

00:01:55.460 Norman Browning took a job as a volunteer coach at Woodlawn High School in East Baton Rouge,
00:02:00.720 Louisiana. Now, Browning had been educated by Baton Rouge's public schools, and he wanted to
00:02:05.120 give back to the community. But very quickly, he realized that Woodlawn was very different from
00:02:10.780 the school that it used to be. For one thing, there wasn't very much discipline. Teachers didn't
00:02:15.620 have close relationships with parents. They didn't seem particularly interested in doing
00:02:19.620 their jobs. Test scores were abysmal. And additionally, demographics had shifted
00:02:24.020 dramatically. Students were poorer than they used to be, and there wasn't much of the fabled diversity
00:02:28.980 that we're told is so important. More than half of the student body was black. Meanwhile, Baton Rouge
00:02:34.980 and its schools were becoming increasingly violent. Currently, it's one of the 10 most dangerous cities
00:02:39.260 in the entire country. Here's just one recent example of a common sight in Baton Rouge schools. Watch.
00:02:45.620 This was the scene before class began on Wednesday morning at an EBR readiness high school. Fists
00:02:51.940 flew, and students fought with law enforcement. If you can be enroute to a fight, it's going to be
00:02:57.540 4735 East Brookstown, 4735 East Brookstown, any additional units. BRPD officers and EBR sheriff
00:03:05.780 deputies rushed to the school where things quickly spiraled out of control, leaving some students scared
00:03:11.780 and confused. I'm just waiting on my mama to come. They pepper sprayed me. Everybody's just trying
00:03:18.100 to get out. Everybody's just trying to go home at that point. At least 10 teenagers were arrested.
00:03:23.940 There were also moments where students in law enforcement got into it with each other.
00:03:27.860 I seen the police. He slammed some dude's head to the wall, and he had sent them on the floor and
00:03:33.620 put them in handcuffs. It was just brutal. The police was just hitting on the kids up and up.
00:03:39.140 Outside, a gun was found in the grass. We had to use other people's phones to call
00:03:43.700 our people. They had people's mamas pulling up. They fighting.
00:03:48.180 Parents quickly showed up to pick up their children, and some even got involved in the fight.
00:03:54.500 So just a normal day at school, learning the ABCs and the 1-2-3s.
00:03:59.300 So there's a big fight in the school, and then the parents show up, and they get involved in the
00:04:02.980 brawl too. And then a gun turns up, and the cops are not remotely surprised by any of this.
00:04:08.980 This kind of thing has been happening consistently in Baton Rouge for the past decade or more.
00:04:13.540 As the Daily Mail reports, on a single day in 2013, Browning observed as many as six
00:04:18.100 separate fights between unruly students in one day. Now, instead of shaking his head and moving
00:04:23.620 on, which he very easily could have done, Browning decided on a different course of action.
00:04:27.380 As the Daily Mail reports, Browning decided to help lead a breakaway movement to effectively secede
00:04:33.300 from East Baton Rouge Parish and incorporate a new city called St. George. And this new city would have
00:04:39.540 schools that admit students who actually want to learn, and teachers who want to teach,
00:04:44.900 and hopefully the students will have parents who want to parent. That's the idea.
00:04:51.140 And the idea was a bit of a long shot. Other movements to incorporate new cities and secede,
00:04:56.260 most notably the effort by Buckhead to secede in Georgia, have fallen short. And that's mainly
00:05:01.460 because local politicians, including conservatives, have stood in the way, have prevented these people
00:05:06.580 from, you know, protecting their families and making their lives better. But after a campaign
00:05:11.700 that took the better part of a decade, in 2019, voters finally approved the ballot initiative to
00:05:15.860 create St. George. What followed were years of legal battles that ended finally last week when
00:05:21.380 the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled in a four to three decision that St. George can indeed incorporate.
00:05:27.780 St. George will be a 60 square mile area with a population of more than 85,000 residents.
00:05:32.340 For comparison, Baton Rouge is 76 square miles with a population of more than 200,000. And so that will
00:05:37.780 make St. George one of the largest cities in the state. They'll have their own mayor,
00:05:41.940 their own public services, their own city council. Watch.
00:05:46.580 ...as highest court has sent its ruling down, paving the way for St. George to officially become its own
00:05:53.700 city. Fox 44's Deshaun Johnson has more on this decision.
00:05:57.620 It's been an ongoing debate for years in the capital area whether or not St. George should
00:06:03.140 be incorporated into its own city. And today, that final decision was given the green light.
00:06:08.020 They had hoped that we would get this process done. They voted in this election.
00:06:12.020 I will proceed to have conversations to determine the best course of action.
00:06:17.220 The Louisiana Supreme Court ruled in favor for the new city with a four to three vote. Andrew Murrell,
00:06:22.100 who was a lawyer for the St. George Incorporators,
00:06:24.580 says that this ruling made today was something efficient for the area.
00:06:27.780 We are open for everyone. If you want more opportunity, you want a better life,
00:06:31.620 you want a chance for lower crime, St. George.
00:06:35.540 Now, a key part of the Louisiana Supreme Court's ruling is that contrary to what Baton Rouge claims,
00:06:40.260 St. George has the financial means to be self-sustaining. And that's not surprising.
00:06:43.700 Taxpayers in that area that's now known as St. George pay roughly two-thirds of the total tax
00:06:49.140 revenue of the government of East Baton Rouge. But they receive only about one-third of the
00:06:54.020 government's expenses in return. And despite paying all those taxes, St. George residents
00:06:59.780 haven't been represented in the mayor's office in Baton Rouge in modern history. So in other words,
00:07:04.020 St. George is vital for East Baton Rouge's economy. And in return for all the tax revenue
00:07:09.540 St. George has generated, Baton Rouge has done basically nothing for St. George. They
00:07:15.620 made their neighborhood more dangerous and their schools even worse. And on top of that,
00:07:20.420 the people of St. George have no real representation in local government. So now,
00:07:24.420 East Baton Rouge isn't going to get that tax revenue anymore, at least not anywhere near the
00:07:29.140 same amount. In fact, St. George residents are currently seeking tens of millions of dollars
00:07:32.660 in back taxes that they've paid to the East Baton Rouge parish government since 2019.
00:07:37.860 So you have to wonder why this isn't happening more often. Governments that don't provide basic
00:07:43.460 services or representation for their citizens don't deserve tax money from their citizens. That's a pretty
00:07:48.740 intuitive principle. And there's no rule that says you can't make your own city if you want to. Quite
00:07:54.820 the opposite. The right of free association is a fundamental part of the Constitution. So why isn't
00:07:59.140 this more commonplace? Well, one reason might be that anyone who attempts to incorporate a sane,
00:08:04.340 high-functioning city will, of course, be immediately defamed as racist. And predictably,
00:08:10.180 that's been the main reaction from the left to the incorporation of St. George. There has been
00:08:13.940 no reckoning about the failures of Baton Rouge's leadership whatsoever. There's been no discussion
00:08:19.540 about, look, why would all these people want to leave in the first place? Instead, no, they're just
00:08:24.180 racist. So here, for example, is a former president of the NAACP in Baton Rouge reacting to the ruling
00:08:29.460 of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Watch. Well, when you look at the basis of what they publicly said about
00:08:36.900 their argument to separate from the city of Baton Rouge, it's been based around better schools,
00:08:42.340 right? Which, in itself, on its face, doesn't make a ton of sense, right? Because you have some
00:08:49.940 people that have supported this movement that have held a hold seat on our school board, right?
00:08:56.980 And it's supposed to be their job to improve schools. So that notion in itself is kind of
00:09:02.260 contradictory to what we see on its face. Not to mention, when you look at the makeup of the organizers
00:09:12.740 and you don't have any people of color amongst them, it's hard not to make the assumption that
00:09:20.820 this is something that might be racially driven. But at the same time, I have to be honest and say
00:09:26.580 that the rhetoric of the narrative that they have pushed has been about better schools. But I don't
00:09:32.660 see how separating our district or separating the school district can create better schools.
00:09:39.140 You know, the other question that somebody like this will never ask is, you know, when
00:09:42.740 the residents of St. George say, hey, we don't want to be around all the crime and all the violence.
00:09:48.020 We don't want that for our families. We don't want that for our children.
00:09:50.500 You know, that's what they're saying. And then his response is, his response is, oh,
00:09:55.940 so you don't want to be around black people? Like what is, so what are you saying exactly is the
00:10:02.740 question. The NAACP guy starts off by saying that some of the people leading the secession
00:10:08.580 movement are on the school board. So they're responsible for the failing schools. Apparently,
00:10:12.020 the school board members should have used their vast influence in order to prevent brawls from
00:10:16.580 constantly breaking out. They also should have forced the students to be smarter and work harder
00:10:21.940 and the teachers to care more about their jobs and also force the parents to actually parent their
00:10:26.100 children. Then his argument devolves into accusing everybody in St. George of racism, of course.
00:10:32.340 They didn't stay and try to fix East Baton Rouge's broken school system. So they must be bigots who
00:10:37.380 just want to get away from black people. And the right thing for them to do is just keep sending
00:10:42.100 their kids into these schools to try to fix it. Because that's what your kids are supposed to be
00:10:45.940 doing, right? That's what you're supposed to be doing with your kids, is sending them into broken
00:10:49.620 school systems in order to fix the school. Now, call me crazy, but I think the job of the school
00:10:55.460 is to educate your kid, not the other way around. So if the school's not doing its job, then you take
00:11:01.380 your kid out. This is one of the stock responses you'll hear on the left in response to the secession
00:11:07.300 of St. George. For example, on Twitter, a black activist, quote unquote, named Samuel
00:11:10.900 Sin Youngway wrote, they're seceding from a majority black city to create a whites-only
00:11:16.180 enclave in Louisiana. Now, of course, just as a factual matter, not that facts matter to these
00:11:20.900 people, but what this activist is saying about the new city isn't true. It's not a whites-only
00:11:25.060 enclave because there are black people living in it. Specifically, 12% of the population is black,
00:11:30.260 which is roughly the same percentage of black people you'll find in Barack Obama's preferred
00:11:33.580 island of Martha's Vineyard, by the way. It also mirrors the overall percentage of black people in the U.S.
00:11:38.660 at large, which stands at around 14%. So in other words, these activists are calling St. George a
00:11:45.380 whites-only enclave, which means they're also, in effect, calling the entire country a whites-only
00:11:50.980 enclave. Additionally, Woodlawn High School, which I mentioned earlier, is within the limits of the new
00:11:56.100 city of St. George. This school, with a lot of black students attending, is not being abandoned by this
00:12:01.420 new city. The point is to improve its leadership so that there's more learning going on and maybe a
00:12:06.080 little bit less fighting. It's crazy of an idea as that is. Of course, if you let these activists
00:12:11.180 talk a little more, it becomes very clear what they're really upset about. They're not upset about
00:12:14.840 racism or whatever. They know that East Baton Rouge, like so many other cities in this country,
00:12:18.820 is dysfunctional. And no sane person would want to continue funding it with their tax dollars.
00:12:24.160 What bothers these activists is that their source of funding is about to go to zero. Their cash cow
00:12:28.500 is abandoning them. They'll have to be productive for once and solve their own problems without
00:12:33.080 taking other people's money and wasting it. That NAACP president in Baton Rouge eventually gets
00:12:38.860 around to kind of admitting that. Listen. Not to mention, when you look at how they plan on
00:12:45.680 supporting themselves, it's pulling a lot of the resources and the tax bases from Baton Rouge,
00:12:53.140 stuff that has been used to keep our city stable, right?
00:12:57.280 So I think Sharon Weston Broom, the mayor there, said the city of Baton Rouge could lose at least
00:13:03.280 $46 million annually as a result of this. At least and probably more, right? So you take all that
00:13:12.880 into account, this is going to hurt the underserved. This is going to be paid for on the backs of poor
00:13:20.960 black folks, right? Because... So it's pulling a lot of the resources and the tax bases from Baton
00:13:26.760 Rouge, stuff that is used to keep our city stable. This is going to be paid for on the backs of poor
00:13:30.820 black folks, he says. There's finally some honesty there. It's true that without St. George, Baton
00:13:34.780 Rouge will probably have a lot of financial problems to deal with. But the people responsible for those
00:13:38.520 problems are not living in St. George. They're running Baton Rouge, which is losing population by the
00:13:42.820 day. As the Louisiana Supreme Court said in its decision, quote, Baton Rouge has arguably experienced a
00:13:47.300 windfall by collecting taxes in St. George without returning proportionate money in
00:13:50.960 services. Incorporation will allow the money paid by St. George citizens to stay in St. George.
00:13:55.800 The record establishes the population of St. George is increasing. Conversely, the population
00:13:59.100 of Baton Rouge is declining. So as St. George creates its new school system and builds out its
00:14:04.260 infrastructure, it's very likely that Baton Rouge's population will continue to decline. And that's
00:14:08.560 why already there's an effort by Baton Rouge activists to get the Louisiana Supreme Court to
00:14:12.580 reconsider its decision. But that will probably fail, as it should. For one thing, some of the economic
00:14:17.900 success of St. George will almost certainly benefit Baton Rouge in a variety of ways. St. George will
00:14:21.920 keep many more people in the area, and the residents there will still pay for some services provided by
00:14:27.040 the government of East Baton Rouge. But more importantly, if St. George continues to thrive,
00:14:31.680 it will send a very clear signal to dysfunctional governments all over the country. And that signal is,
00:14:36.740 stop wasting our tax dollars, or we will leave. And we will take our tax dollars with us.
00:14:41.580 That's how our system was always supposed to work. Our country was founded on the principle
00:14:46.520 that governments cannot lawfully tax people without representing them or working for their
00:14:51.700 benefit. And with the succession of St. George from the capital city of Louisiana for the first time
00:14:58.020 in recent memory, that principle is back. Hopefully there's much more to come. Now let's get to our five

00:16:12.040 what the UCLA protester encampment looks like now that it's been cleared out and the protesters are
00:16:20.080 gone. Let's take a look at this. This is the aftermath of it. Taking a look around the encampment
00:16:26.920 after police have gone through here and forced the pro-Palestinian demonstrators out.
00:16:35.580 CHP tells me a hundred people were taken into custody during this operation. Took about three
00:16:41.780 hours. What a mess. Okay, so there's garbage everywhere. There's tents left behind, trash
00:16:49.960 strewn all over the place. So UCLA's campus now looks like the rest of California. Totally disgusting
00:16:56.060 and unlivable, again, like so much of the rest of the state. And this kind of thing really pisses me
00:17:05.040 off. And I'll tell you why. It's because it goes to show, of course, that these frauds are obviously
00:17:12.740 not really environmentalists. They're not really environmentalists in the one single way that
00:17:18.160 matters. The one single way. Because the one single form of environmentalism that really matters
00:17:24.240 is the simplest form. Clean up after yourself. That's the only kind of environmentalism that
00:17:31.860 anyone should give a damn about. Don't litter. Don't leave garbage all over the place.
00:17:37.940 That's all the environmentalism we need. If everybody did that in the world, we'd be okay.
00:17:44.800 We'd live in a, not a utopia, but at least a much cleaner place. So clean up after yourself. That's
00:17:52.060 it. But they don't do that. And that's why liberal hotbeds like cities and college campuses are often
00:17:57.780 so gross and grimy and cluttered and littered. And if you get a bunch of these liberals together in
00:18:03.800 one space for a protest or anything, really, you can be guaranteed that the place is going to look
00:18:10.680 like a garbage dump when they leave. So they want carbon taxes and they want plastic straw bands and
00:18:19.420 they want carbon, they want a carbon cap. All these complicated measures and policies that they want
00:18:25.300 passed down from the federal government. And they do that. And while they wait for that to happen
00:18:30.980 and for those things to be done from on high, they continue to just throw their garbage anywhere
00:18:36.860 they want. Instead of doing the thing that they can do right now. It's like, this is a bit of an
00:18:44.500 odd analogy, but it's like someone who says that they want to, who's overweight and says they want to
00:18:47.860 get in shape. And so they start talking about, well, I got to get a, here's all the fancy gym
00:18:53.580 equipment I need to buy. Here's this. I need to get to talk to a dietician. I need to get the diet plan.
00:18:58.720 I need to do this. Like setting up all of these things that need to be done first, rather than
00:19:03.820 doing the simple thing, which is just like right now, like don't. So they're coming up with all
00:19:08.840 these plans while in the process of eating French fries. Like just don't eat the French fries right
00:19:12.400 now. You start right now with the simplest thing. And if you do that, you might even find out that
00:19:16.840 you don't need all that other stuff. And the environmentalists kind of take the same approach.
00:19:20.920 It's like, rather than doing the one thing that you can do,
00:19:23.300 that we all learned. If we grew up in the nineties, we all learned this from Captain Planet.
00:19:29.560 That's the one thing we all learned. Don't litter. Don't, don't throw your stuff on the ground.
00:19:33.880 And that's why I'm actually, by the way, a big proponent of anti-littering laws. This is the one
00:19:37.840 kind of environmentalist law that I wholeheartedly support. I would give jail time to people who
00:19:43.040 litter if I could. And I don't even, that's not even a joke. I would give six months in jail
00:19:47.660 for a first time offense of littering, for sure. Because it just shows what a total disregard for
00:19:56.060 everyone else that you have. Like cleaning up after yourself is simple, basic thing. It requires
00:20:01.280 almost no effort. And if you can't do that, then you deserve to be punished. It's like we went to
00:20:08.020 the movies last week and we finally saw Dune 2, by the way, which I enjoyed. But anyway,
00:20:16.160 there was a, you know, of course you see this kind of stuff all the time, but, but walking through
00:20:19.380 the parking lot, there was a, a, um, a bucket of popcorn that had just, someone just thrown in
00:20:25.140 the parking lot and it still had most of the popcorn in it. Just so someone walked out and
00:20:29.060 just threw their bucket of popcorn on the ground in the parking lot and walked. There's a trash can
00:20:34.360 20 feet away. And so the mentality, like think about the mentality of doing that. Just say,
00:20:41.220 I'll just leave it here. I don't care. But you don't care about anybody. You have no concern for
00:20:44.600 anybody. You're a total sociopath. And, uh, and I would be totally in favor of cops. See that
00:20:49.800 happen. You get arrested on the spot. You're going to jail. Um, although I will say in this case,
00:20:55.960 one of the problems for these people, not to make excuses for them is that they didn't have trash
00:21:00.820 cans to throw their garbage in because they had cut up their trash cans to use as shields against the
00:21:07.240 cops. Um, use them as shields to, I should say, very unintentionally humorous effect. Take a look at
00:21:14.540 this footage. I have so many questions. Like, first of all, what did,
00:21:41.660 did you mean to run into him? It's like the other guy, the other, the other, uh, dorks with
00:21:48.060 the garbage can shields, they just kept running. They ran away. Like they weren't even being chased.
00:21:53.240 Uh, the cops were just standing there. This is the most obvious trap in the world. They're just
00:21:58.480 standing there. And this guy runs right into him to be arrested. Uh, you know, a few days ago, my,
00:22:05.000 my seven-year-old was running around the house with a wooden spoon, uh, that he was using as a,
00:22:09.860 or some sort of utensil that he was using as a sword. And he had a bed sheet, you know,
00:22:14.520 uh, tied around him as a cape. So the classic move. And that's basically what these people are doing.
00:22:19.820 Uh, like they, they, they might as well make a fort out of couch cushions at this point
00:22:26.680 and put like a sign that says, uh, no parents allowed in front of it because it's all, it's total
00:22:34.400 make-believe playing pretend. These are like, these are, it's like a Renaissance fair. These
00:22:39.360 are dorks at a Renaissance fair. I went to a Renaissance fair once. I don't, for some reason,
00:22:43.360 I don't know why I went, but I was there was actually just last year. I was at a Renaissance
00:22:46.760 fair. I was talked into it and, uh, I was there and there was a jousting match and it wasn't nearly
00:22:54.160 as cool as you want it to be. It was so pathetic. Uh, and, but it was, it was kind of like this.
00:22:59.800 Even that was more exciting than what you see from these people, except that even though it's
00:23:06.760 pathetic and nerdy, and these are a bunch of weak, ridiculous losers, they are actually in real life
00:23:12.640 committing crimes. And then they're fighting the cops when the cops show up. Now they're fighting
00:23:18.120 the cops badly and in a very funny way that makes us laugh at them because they're scrawny and weak,
00:23:24.500 but they're still committing serious crimes. And yet as local news reports, the court system
00:23:29.660 is not exactly treating it seriously. Watch this. She says she's a student and, um, she's just being
00:23:37.240 released. As I said, you'll see, she has a citation. She also has her breakfast here and she certainly
00:23:42.920 will be, uh, supported by other protesters who have also been released in front of the Twin Towers
00:23:48.880 correctional facility, as well as fellow protesters who are here just to, uh, welcome them as they leave,
00:23:55.800 uh, the facility here. By the way, they're not being brought inside the facility itself.
00:24:00.260 From what I understand, they're being processed at a parking lot outside as they are bused in here,
00:24:05.120 uh, from the UCLA campus. We'll send it back to you.
00:24:09.060 Okay. So they're, they're not even being brought into the jail. They're being given citations and
00:24:13.240 then breakfast. They're getting a catered breakfast. Uh, and these are people who are guilty of
00:24:19.680 many crimes, not just one crime, many crimes. Um, and this is, this is how it's being treated.
00:24:27.340 And yet these people will still pretend to be persecuted by the system. They'll still pretend
00:24:31.000 that they're fighting the system and that they're persecuted by the system and that this is something
00:24:36.640 they're being treated unfairly in some way. But that, I mean, I've, I've heard this even from
00:24:41.920 people on the right that, um, people on the right of, well, you know, the BLM protests,
00:24:48.060 the cops didn't respond at all. And now they're, now they're really, uh, now they're putting the
00:24:51.780 hammer down. Why is that? What are you talking? No, they're not. What are you talking about? Are we
00:24:56.260 watching the same thing? First of all, none of these protesters are getting any real jail time.
00:25:01.320 So just like BLM and the cops show up like a week later after letting the protesters do whatever
00:25:07.360 they want for the week. That's exactly what they did with BLM. It's the same thing. They let them do
00:25:11.100 whatever they want for several days. And then finally they show up same exact. So it's actually
00:25:15.620 no different. It's the same thing because, uh, the, the privilege they enjoy as leftist protesters
00:25:21.340 is, is absolute. Um, now I want to stay on these protests for the next story, which is very much
00:25:29.660 related because one trend we've noticed one, one very positive and a joyous trend is that the frat
00:25:38.520 boys have risen up on campuses across the country and come out to oppose the pro-Palestine
00:25:44.640 protesters. And we've seen this on, on many campuses. Uh, most famously we saw the frat
00:25:51.080 boys holding, holding up the American flag and shielding it from the protesters that were trying
00:25:55.400 to defile it with truly inspiring image. And I say that without a hint of sarcasm or irony. It's like,
00:26:01.260 it's a great image. Here's a clip of a, that was just circulating yesterday, even though
00:26:06.120 that this happened several days ago, but here's a clip of those guys as they're holding up the flag,
00:26:11.340 um, interacting, interacting, shall we say, with one of the protesters. Listen,
00:26:16.700 lose some weight. He says, and then he had some other choice words, which, uh, we, we had to bleep
00:26:35.680 out, but that was there. You noticed there was, they weren't really debating the issue. Um, they
00:26:40.120 weren't, they weren't getting into a political debate. Uh, their answer was just like back off
00:26:45.940 and lose some weight. And then yesterday the, the frat boys again showed up this time at the
00:26:50.740 University of Mississippi. And here's what that scene looked like.
00:27:15.940 So, uh, yeah, they're just kind of there mocking and jeering at them. Uh, and you know, on the one
00:27:38.160 hand, this seems to present a pretty clear binary choice for, for all of us. Uh, and it does,
00:27:44.020 it does present a clear choice. Would you rather be on the side of the dorks with the trash can
00:27:48.980 shields or the frat boy in the star spangled overalls? Like on one hand you have, uh, a scrawny
00:27:56.700 nerd with a trash can shield wearing a, you know, wearing a COVID mask. And on the other hand, you
00:28:03.580 have the guy with the star spangled overalls. Who would you rather align yourself with? And who do you
00:28:09.420 want as allies? I think that's a pretty easy choice. Certainly easy for me. And I can tell you no matter
00:28:15.860 who's on the other side, I could never, ever, ever lock arms with anti-American green haired
00:28:21.200 communists. I could just never do it. I could never do it under any circumstance. Um, but we should
00:28:29.320 also acknowledge that most likely, you know, most of these frat boy types are not getting involved
00:28:35.620 because they care deeply about, uh, the war in Gaza. You know, most of them probably have no
00:28:41.700 opinion. Now I don't want to speak for them. Maybe some of them do feel strongly about it. I'm sure
00:28:46.000 some of them do, but I think, I think it stands to reason. I think we could probably assume that most
00:28:51.280 of them have no opinion or have only vague opinions about what's happening overseas. Um, because that's not
00:28:58.000 the point for them. The point is that they see a bunch of anti-American, anti-white leftist weirdos
00:29:04.240 freaking out and they instinctively want to antagonize them and take the opposite position
00:29:09.880 from them. And that's, that's a, that's a very good instinct. You know, you can see some of these
00:29:15.920 frat boys in some cases, at least one that I saw, uh, waving Israeli flags also. And maybe it's because
00:29:23.220 the guy waving the flag really cares about Israel. Maybe, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was doing
00:29:28.720 that just to upset the other side, just because he knew that would send them over the edge, just because
00:29:33.240 he thought the funniest thing I could do right now to these people, they start waving an Israeli flag
00:29:38.280 in their face. Um, and it wouldn't surprise me if, if that was the motivation and that would be
00:29:43.720 hilarious if, if that was the motivation. In other words, you know, these kids and we're calling them
00:29:48.680 all frat boys, but, uh, I mean, they're not necessarily, maybe some of them are, but they're
00:29:53.740 actually just normal white kids. They are what we're really saying when we say frat boys on these,
00:29:59.800 like what we're really talking about are white male college students. And, um, so these kids,
00:30:06.820 frat boys are not, they're just that they're normal. They are advocates for normalcy. They
00:30:13.200 have the most normal view of this whole thing. And their view is basically, well, I don't know
00:30:18.840 what's going on overseas that much, and I don't care that much, but these jackasses over here are
00:30:23.580 acting ridiculous and I'm going to make fun of them. Like their view is this is hilarious. Like
00:30:29.260 this is objectively funny. And so let's go make fun of them for a bit. And that's what they're
00:30:35.580 doing. And that is the right approach. It's the right approach because it's the normal approach.
00:30:42.060 And I prefer that by the way, when I say that these kids are not politically involved and don't
00:30:45.940 care that much about the issue, I don't say that as a lament. Like I'm not saying, oh, they need to,
00:30:50.740 you need to get better informed. And no, I'm not saying that. Um, I'm not, I'm not even saying,
00:30:56.520 well, they should be engaging in a, they should be going there and engaging in a civil dialogue,
00:31:00.540 a debate, you know, they should be making points. No, not really. Cause the other side doesn't care
00:31:07.240 what your points are. They're not there to debate. Like no one shows up to something like this to
00:31:10.960 debate you. They don't care. They're not listening. Um, the best thing you could do is treat it just
00:31:18.220 like this. Treat it as a joke. Don't take it seriously. Treat it as a joke. You know, the,
00:31:23.780 by the way, the left used to be very good at doing that to the right. Uh, very good at
00:31:29.340 treating everything the right did as a joke, just like as something that we shouldn't even
00:31:33.400 take seriously. It's just ridiculous. And they don't do that as much anymore. At least they don't
00:31:40.400 do it effectively because they've gone the other way. Now, everything the right does,
00:31:44.500 they take very seriously because everything the right does is like the end of the world.
00:31:49.060 And it's a fascist conspiracy and it's a plot to take over the world and it's oppression and
00:31:53.080 it's genocide. Like everything the right does, everything we say is genocide now.
00:31:57.400 So they're not really laughing at us anymore. They can't laugh at us because we are,
00:32:00.460 we are supervillains to them. And we're, we are just by having our opinions, we're killing people.
00:32:05.660 So it's not funny. So rather than pointing and laughing at us, everything that now,
00:32:11.340 everything that we do, they say, well, that's not funny. This is serious.
00:32:15.920 And, um, the left was a lot more effective with the other approach. I'm glad they've stopped using
00:32:20.920 that approach because again, it was effective, but it was much more effective when they just
00:32:25.120 made a mockery of everything that we did. That was, you know, you look back at like the tea party
00:32:30.020 movement, for example, and that was right on the edge of when the left was making this transition
00:32:34.900 to, uh, no, no more laughing is allowed and everything is very serious, but there was still,
00:32:40.980 I think the kind of the predominant reaction to the tea party from a lot of leftists was just to
00:32:48.300 make a mockery of it. Just, just treat it like a bunch of these dorks here. Now in that case,
00:32:52.740 I don't think that it was true, but that's how they responded. I think it was a more effective
00:32:56.300 response, um, than what they do now, which is to blow everything out of proportion and take it far too
00:33:04.140 seriously. And so this is what, this is what's happening back in their direction. I think it's
00:33:08.880 the right way. And, uh, and these, these guys, they're, they're, they're exhibiting
00:33:14.140 sort of the basic male instinct to ruthlessly mock something that is bizarre and strange and
00:33:22.420 dishonorable and embarrassing and unpatriotic. And I think that bodes even better for the future of
00:33:29.820 the country. Now, the problem of course, is that there there's hardly anyone in politics or media
00:33:36.160 or in the public eye at all, who's very interested in representing and defending and sticking up for
00:33:42.360 normal people who want to live normal lives. There's just not a lot of that. Instead, there's
00:33:47.400 a real hatred of normalcy on both sides. Now it's mostly on the left, but there is some of that on the
00:33:52.480 right. We talked a couple of weeks ago about, uh, the right wingers who were mocking a guy for
00:33:56.980 having a nine to five job, you know, calling him a slave and, uh, and an NPC and all of that.
00:34:03.980 The guy has a nine to five job. He has a wife, you know, he, he, he, what is he's having a baby.
00:34:09.400 He goes to work, he comes home. He does, he does, you know, he runs some errands. Just living a normal
00:34:14.580 life. And even people on the right, they were treating that like making fun of it. And that's,
00:34:21.440 that's a weird, strange attitude to have. That's not normal. Like you're not being normal
00:34:25.560 when you act that way. Can you imagine somebody responding that way in normal conversation? Like
00:34:30.320 if someone said to you, Hey, what do you do for a living? And you said, Oh, you know,
00:34:33.040 I work at the office down the street. And they said, wage slave. You're an NPC. What are you?
00:34:39.500 Some kind of automaton? Like that wouldn't even offend you. You would just stare at them like what?
00:34:44.560 You, what you dork. Like what the hell is wrong with you? It's a bizarre antisocial response.
00:34:53.560 And you do find that on the right and the left, though, again, mostly on the left.
00:34:58.400 Um, and with this conflict in Israel, you really see this dynamic brought to the forefront because
00:35:03.220 on both sides, you have factions who are deeply, deeply concerned about some war overseas between
00:35:09.540 people who've hated each other for centuries. Um, you know, and, and you have factions on both
00:35:14.440 sides that just have intense feelings about it and demand that you share those feelings. They demand
00:35:21.100 it. Meanwhile, normal Americans honestly don't care that much and, and would prefer to focus on stuff
00:35:27.020 that matters in their own country. I mean, go up to any average person in real life and ask them how
00:35:31.120 they feel about what's happening in the middle East. And you will get some version of, Oh yeah,
00:35:36.120 man, that, that sucks. Yeah. Pretty crazy. Yeah. Yep. Uh, yeah. Wow. Like that's what you need to
00:35:44.280 get from, from a, just stop someone's average person on the street that you'll get something
00:35:47.720 like that. And, um, again, I don't say that as a lament that that's, that's a normal. It's like,
00:35:54.340 cause it's not, this is something thousands of miles away. It doesn't know there's no bearing
00:35:57.620 in my everyday life. Why should I care? Why should I be deeply invested in that? Why should I spend
00:36:02.960 every waking moment of my life thinking about this and like talking about it and on social media,
00:36:10.900 obsessing over it? I mean, prior to the internet, that wouldn't even be an option. Like prior to
00:36:15.260 the internet, if things are happening thousands of miles away, yeah, you might find out about them,
00:36:18.740 but you would only ever, you could, you could read a newspaper article about them once a week,
00:36:22.360 or maybe not even that often. And that would be it. Like it wouldn't even, it wouldn't even be an
00:36:27.200 option to obsess over it on a daily basis every day. There's not enough content to do that with.
00:36:33.620 So you'd really have no choice, but, uh, there's some war thousands of miles away. You read about
00:36:37.340 a newspaper article on a Sunday and then you put, and that's it. That's the only thing you read about
00:36:41.340 it. And then you go about your life. Um, and I think that that that's a healthy and normal way to
00:36:50.040 live. And that's how a lot of people want to live, but there's just not a lot of representation of that
00:36:54.340 viewpoint. All right. So I wanted to mention this. The Biden administration moved Tuesday to
00:37:01.200 reclassify marijuana as a lower risk substance. A person familiar with the plans told CNN,
00:37:07.000 this is a historic move that acknowledges the medical benefits of the long criminalized drug
00:37:11.520 and carries broad implications for cannabis related research and the industry at large.
00:37:16.600 The U S department of justice recommended that marijuana be rescheduled as a schedule three
00:37:20.220 controlled substance. The classification shared by prescription drugs, such as ketamine and
00:37:24.980 Tylenol with codeine. Um, today, Merrick Garland circulated a proposal to reclassify marijuana from
00:37:30.780 schedule one to schedule three, according to the DOJ's director of public affairs with a name that
00:37:35.800 I won't even try to pronounce X O C H I T L. First name, last name, H I N O J O S A. Hinojosa is the
00:37:45.860 last name. That's not too hard. Zakatol. How do you pronounce that? Like you can't go around with a
00:37:51.480 name like that. You just can't. It's it. Sochi is what I'm being told. That's Sochi. That's how you
00:37:57.760 pronounce that. Sochi. Say it again. Sochi. Sochi Hinojosa. So the X sound is an S sound. And then
00:38:07.900 there's this TL hanging out at the end of the, of, of the name that just doesn't get pronounced at all.
00:38:12.860 It's just sitting there for no reason is what you're telling me. That you just can't, you can't
00:38:18.160 have a name like that. That's just, you can't have that name. If I was in charge, you're not having
00:38:21.780 that name or you're spelling it differently. Anyway, what were we talking about? Oh yeah. So marijuana.
00:38:26.760 So they're rescheduling marijuana. And here's the only thing I'm going to say about this.
00:38:31.800 And I know it upsets certain portion of the audience quite a bit when we talk about,
00:38:35.280 when we talk about marijuana. And fortunately, I don't really care when people are upset.
00:38:41.000 So I'll just say again, it's worth asking yourself, why do they want you smoking this stuff so much?
00:38:50.460 Like, why are the powers that be going out of their way? I'm not asking you to get,
00:38:54.320 to get super conspiratorial about this because it's not very conspiratorial. This is, this is not some
00:38:58.740 sort of far flung, far fetched conspiracy I'm talking about, but why do they want you smoking
00:39:05.360 this stuff? They're going out of their way to make it as available as possible, as accessible as
00:39:10.860 possible, making it legal. And then also now they're, now they're rescheduling it. They're,
00:39:16.900 they're reclassifying it to say that it's less dangerous than it was before. Like,
00:39:21.420 and does that even make any sense? Like what, what changed?
00:39:25.840 What, why is it a lower risk substance now, right now in 2024, if it wasn't before?
00:39:32.120 I mean, if anything, like hasn't marijuana gotten more potent over the years?
00:39:36.120 So it's gotten more potent, but it's, it's lower risk than it was 20 years ago.
00:39:42.240 How? That doesn't make any sense. So, uh, but this is what they're doing.
00:39:46.300 And these are the most powerful people in the country who very clearly have no problem
00:39:53.160 with your, with your marijuana habit. And they very much want you to continue it. And they want
00:39:57.600 you to smoke it even more. And they're doing everything they can to remove all the hurdles
00:40:00.680 that they possibly can. And anytime you say that you see something like that, you should always ask
00:40:05.400 yourself like, Hmm, what, what, what do you, what do you get out of this? Like, what do these people
00:40:10.400 get out of this? What do they get out of you smoking a lot of pot? Cause they clearly want you
00:40:15.320 to. Hmm. It's a, you know, it's almost like, uh, these people know that marijuana makes you,
00:40:24.300 uh, sedates you, you know, makes you, um, numbs you, makes you kind of lethargic,
00:40:35.500 zoned out, not paying attention. Like it's almost like they, they know it has that effect.

00:41:54.000 Brandon says, yikes, I could be wrong, but if Matt continues talking about the anti-Semitism
00:41:57.900 question, he won't be at the Daily Wire anymore. Now, it's interesting. I keep being told that I'll
00:42:03.440 be fired from the Daily Wire for saying the things that I say all the time on the Daily Wire.
00:42:09.740 So I say these kind of things all the time, and every time I do, the comments come pouring in.
00:42:16.140 Watch out, Matt. Watch out. And the other thing that has been interesting to me is that is to see all
00:42:23.460 the commentary responding to, you know, me speaking out against these hate speech laws, as I've been
00:42:28.840 doing. And there's a lot of commentary about what I've been saying, and the commentary insists that
00:42:35.840 this is some kind of change for me, that I'm going out on some sort of new limb saying these things.
00:42:44.140 Oh, why is Matt speaking out about this now? What's going on?
00:42:47.400 No, this is what I've always said, okay? I've always had this position.
00:42:51.120 None of this is new to me. I haven't changed my views at all on this stuff.
00:42:57.560 My views on hate speech laws have not changed. My views on what constitutes anti-Semitism
00:43:03.440 or any other kind of bigotry has not changed. My views on Israel and wars overseas and the
00:43:15.080 situation in the Middle East, that hasn't changed. I have changed my views. Remarkably few of my views,
00:43:28.340 let's say, have changed. Now, some of them have, as naturally happens to anybody as they continue
00:43:35.760 living. You're not going to have the same opinion about everything. It's not like your opinions get
00:43:41.460 locked in when you're 20 years old and they don't change at all. At least it shouldn't. If it works,
00:43:45.200 if that's the case for you, then that's another problem. There's the one problem of changing your
00:43:51.160 views constantly because you're trying to triangulate and not offend people and all that,
00:43:55.860 or because you have no grounding, no principles. And then there's the opposite problem of never
00:44:01.200 changing any of your views because you're not thinking at all and you're not a critical thinker
00:44:04.900 and you're not intellectually honest. For me, I think where I am, it's pretty, you know,
00:44:10.600 going back to being normal. It's a pretty normal thing. Like I have basic principles that have
00:44:13.840 stayed mostly the same, changed my views on a few things. That's where I've been. And
00:44:21.400 so I don't know what to tell you. Just, you know, you can check me on this. You can go back.
00:44:28.280 I've been saying a lot of things for a long time. I have a, there's, I have been speaking publicly
00:44:34.480 for a long time and you can go back and you can kind of track it and you'll find that like, wow,
00:44:41.940 he's literally been saying the same thing. If anything, that should be your criticism of me.
00:44:46.840 Your criticism should be, I repeat myself way too much. But I've been saying the same thing on the
00:44:50.940 same topics for like 10 years. So if anything, I would think that that would be the criticism.
00:44:56.600 So you'd be saying, Hey man, change it up a bit. Like you're, it's a little much. We get it.
00:45:03.440 Instead, what I often get from the peanut gallery is the accusation that when I, when I say something,
00:45:10.420 that's the same thing I've been saying for 10 freaking years. Somehow it's a, it's a new,
00:45:14.740 it's a shift. This is a shift in my thinking. It's not. Okay. Another comment says awareness
00:45:22.060 should never be anything more than a civil social concept, never legal or enforceable.
00:45:26.860 I think that's exactly right. Anytime you hear about any law that has anything to do with
00:45:32.140 awareness, especially if awareness is in the title, like it is with the anti-Semitism awareness act.
00:45:37.320 Anytime you hear that, you automatically know that something is wrong because that is not what a law
00:45:41.060 is supposed to do. Laws are not designed to raise awareness about things. Another comment says,
00:45:47.240 shout out to Mark Dice for coining the term anti-whiteism years ago. Indeed. And very useful term.
00:45:52.680 And I think a, a, a term that we should start using more often. And also, you know, on, on the topic of
00:45:59.920 anti-whiteism, there's a, there's an important distinction here that I thought about yesterday
00:46:06.120 that is worth making that because on one hand, you know, I sort of, I started the show talking about
00:46:11.900 the problem of anti-white racism, anti-whiteism saying how Donald Trump wants to address it.
00:46:17.400 So it says he's going to address it. If he gets a second term, I think that's a good thing. He
00:46:20.340 should address it. And then I end the show talking about anti-Semitism and there's a law that's
00:46:24.880 supposed to address anti-Semitism and I'm opposed to that. So how could that be the case? Well,
00:46:29.840 it's the case, a few reasons, but the main thing is this, that anti-white racism, anti-whiteism
00:46:37.040 is, is enshrined right now in politics. It is actual, it is actually systemic. So when I talk
00:46:46.160 about especially having a political leader fight anti-whiteism, I'm not talking about stopping
00:46:52.780 people, private citizens from saying they hate white people. You have the right to say that.
00:46:58.140 You can say you hate anybody. You can say you hate me. You can hate anybody for any reason.
00:47:01.860 I'd be very clear about that. The problem is that anti-white racism is the one kind of bigotry that
00:47:07.080 is actually systemic in that it is written into our policies. It is enforced by the government.
00:47:15.040 And so when I want someone, when I say someone like Donald Trump or any political leader should
00:47:18.500 be fighting it, that's what I'm talking about. Getting it out of our laws, getting it out of our
00:47:24.160 policies so that white people are actually treated equally by our policies. And, and that is, and
00:47:32.160 that's the difference between anti-white racism and any other kind of bigotry you can name.
00:47:38.980 But all these other kinds of bigotries, although they certainly exist, like every kind of bigotry
00:47:43.680 exists. You know, you take any, any type of person, there's, there are people out there who hate that
00:47:48.340 type of person. That's always the case. But anti-white bigotry is the only kind that is
00:47:54.500 actually explicitly, uh, systemic and systematic in our country. And that's the big difference.
00:48:05.920 The countdown's officially on Sunday, May 12th. We here at the Daily Wire are setting out

00:48:33.260 And it doesn't stop there. Our friend Adam Carolla has rallied an unparalleled lineup of talent for the
00:48:37.520 series, including Megan Kelly, Roseanne Barr, Sage Steele, Danny Trejo, Kyle Dunnigan, Patrick Warburton,

00:49:20.500 I'm black, and that used to be enough, but I'm also bilingual, and I'm non-binary.
00:49:25.600 We're the army!
00:49:26.480 We drink more before 9 a.m. than you Navy pukes do all day.

00:49:47.560 They're salty and make me dizzy.
00:49:49.080 Sorry, I just need to find a thingy to fix my gaming chair.
00:49:52.120 When I was on the construction site, my chair was a five-gallon bucket.
00:49:56.960 It was also my toilet.
00:50:02.580 Hey, I'm done.
00:50:03.780 I'm going back to bed.
00:50:05.200 Thanks a lot.
00:50:05.920 Prepare for the razor-sharp comedy that only Adam Carolla and The Daily Wire can deliver.
00:50:13.500 Don't miss out on the series premiere, streaming free on Sunday, May 12th, at 9 p.m. Eastern,
00:50:19.800 only on Daily Wire+.
00:50:20.980 Now let's get to our daily cancellation.
00:50:29.080 Well, disturbing video circulated yesterday showing a man in Philadelphia being attacked
00:50:33.500 and mauled by a pack of dogs in the middle of the street.
00:50:36.260 The local ABC News affiliate reports that there were four dogs involved in the attack.
00:50:40.520 Three of them were pit bulls.
00:50:41.580 The other was a Cain Corso, who apparently, I guess, fell in with the wrong crowd.
00:50:45.800 And I think we're going to have to blur pretty much this whole video, but here is footage
00:50:51.100 of the attack anyway.
00:50:54.220 Bro, this pit just f***ed somebody up, dude.
00:51:03.500 Yo, shoot the f***ing shoo!
00:51:11.260 Bro!
00:51:14.500 Shoot the f*** the f***ing shit, polies!
00:51:17.600 Police!
00:51:19.960 Hey, polies!
00:51:21.820 Oh!
00:51:23.540 Shoot us!
00:51:25.280 No, I gotta конф it up!
00:51:26.880 No.
00:51:27.420 Hey, dude!
00:51:29.540 Oh!
00:51:30.760 Bro. Bro.
00:51:39.380 Okay.
00:51:41.360 So I'm glad we got the commentary from that guy.
00:51:45.040 Bro, this is pretty bad.
00:51:47.080 Anyway, so you watch that, the first thing you think is, where is Kristi Noem when you need her?
00:51:51.900 Fortunately, I will say the man did survive that attack.
00:51:54.680 It was an attack that happened to occur on the same week that a nine-year-old girl in Iowa was mauled by a pit bull and sustained severe injuries.
00:52:03.460 The owner of the dog in that case was arrested.
00:52:06.100 And also the same week, two pit bulls had to be euthanized after attacking a 58-year-old man in Baltimore.
00:52:11.140 All three of these incidents happened only a few weeks after a three-month-old baby was mauled and killed by the family pit bull in New Jersey.
00:52:18.720 And a few weeks before that, a 35-year-old man in California was attacked by his pit bull, and he did not survive the attack either.
00:52:25.680 Now, it's not especially surprising, of course, that pit bulls are responsible for all these attacks.
00:52:29.680 After all, pit bulls and rottweilers together account for nearly 80% of fatal dog attacks, even though they comprise less than 10% of the dog population.
00:52:36.820 And as you can see from this chart, the vast majority of those are pit bulls, with rottweilers coming in a very distant second place.
00:52:42.960 Now, pit bulls account for 60% of all dog bite injuries, and the injuries they cause are much more likely to be severe.
00:52:49.840 Overall, pit bulls are far more likely to attack and far more likely to cause serious death or injury when they do attack.
00:52:56.480 They are both the most aggressive breed and the breed most capable of inflicting maximum damage.
00:53:01.880 And that's the reason why I have been, in the past, a very vocal proponent of banning pit bulls.
00:53:08.520 There's no disputing the fact that these dogs are uniquely dangerous.
00:53:11.280 They are, the statistics clearly show, by far and away, the most dangerous breed of dog, a breed that is genetically predisposed to aggression.
00:53:20.900 There's a reason why every single one of us, if we see a stray pit bull running down the street, we will be extremely worried if the dog approaches us.
00:53:30.280 But if we see a stray golden retriever or lab or beagle or any of dozens of other breeds, we will not be nearly so concerned.
00:53:39.360 I made this argument again on Twitter yesterday in response to that video we just played, and I got 6,000 responses, and many of them quite angry.
00:53:51.340 Angry at me, I mean.
00:53:52.320 Not angry about the pack of dogs mauling that guy.
00:53:56.100 Instead, no, they were angry at me, so a rabid pack of pit bull owners descended on my comment section, accusing me of anti-pit bull bigotry.
00:54:04.360 And they made all the familiar arguments.
00:54:06.560 They said that it's not about the breed, it's about the owner.
00:54:09.820 They said that their own pit bulls are the sweetest little darlings in the world.
00:54:12.840 They would never hit a fly.
00:54:14.100 They said that banning pit bulls would be somehow just like banning guns.
00:54:17.480 They said that there's no such thing as a bad dog, only a bad owner.
00:54:21.600 They made all the arguments that I normally find so absurdly unpersuasive.
00:54:25.260 But this time, I have to admit, I know I just said I don't change my mind very often, but they really got through to me.
00:54:34.240 I read all these thousands of comments of pit bull owners crying hysterically because I had an opinion that they didn't like.
00:54:40.660 And it really affected me.
00:54:42.880 I can't really describe it.
00:54:44.180 I just, I realized the error of my ways.
00:54:46.360 Pit bulls might be disproportionately dangerous and far more likely to kill or maim than almost any other breed.
00:54:53.760 But I realized that you pit bull defenders are right.
00:54:57.420 Like, why should that stop you from bringing them into the community?
00:55:00.980 Yes, they might try to eat your neighbor's child, but frankly, that's none of your neighbor's business.
00:55:06.120 And sure, yes, there are plenty of other breeds that are much, much less likely to attack.
00:55:09.920 And even if they do attack, are much, much less likely to do any significant damage.
00:55:13.400 But why shouldn't you skip over all of those significantly safer breeds and specifically choose the one that poses the greatest statistical risk to everyone around you, including your family and yourself?
00:55:24.540 Sure, I mean, it's true.
00:55:25.620 Pit bulls are genetically predisposed to aggression and built to inflict maximum damage.
00:55:29.940 But why should that have any impact on your decision to adopt them?
00:55:33.880 Sure, yes, the risk you take by adopting a pit bull is also a risk that you're forcing everyone around you to take as well.
00:55:40.220 But, I mean, why should that matter to you?
00:55:43.400 Like, I could see it all clearly now.
00:55:44.640 It makes sense.
00:55:45.940 I never understood the wisdom of this perspective before, but now I really do.
00:55:49.640 Like, I get it.
00:55:51.020 I get it.
00:55:52.720 In fact, I'm so persuaded that I've decided to take these arguments and apply them to my own life.
00:55:58.160 After all, every pro-pit bull argument could be used to justify the ownership of literally any dangerous animal.
00:56:03.840 And that's why I've decided to go out, and it's a little bit unique, but I've decided to go out and adopt a hippopotamus and keep it at my house with my children in my neighborhood where other people live.
00:56:14.240 Now, look, I know what the anti-hippo bigots might say.
00:56:16.940 They'll say that hippos are massive animals that are extremely aggressive and very dangerous and totally insane to keep at your house.
00:56:25.500 They'll claim that it's far too risky to own an animal like that.
00:56:29.000 They'll point out that hippos are the deadliest large land mammal on the planet responsible for killing 500 human beings a year.
00:56:34.240 But, like, that's all propaganda.
00:56:36.140 I mean, it's true.
00:56:37.640 The statistics say what they say, but there's no need to worry about statistics.
00:56:41.320 Hippos may kill 500 people a year, but there are 8 billion people on Earth.
00:56:44.820 That means that, think about this.
00:56:47.740 This is what I said to my neighbors.
00:56:49.740 That means 7,999,999,500 humans aren't killed by hippos every year.
00:56:58.940 Now, it's estimated that somewhere around 10,000 people globally are killed by lightning strikes each year.
00:57:03.060 And that means you are far more likely to be killed by lightning than by a hippo.
00:57:07.400 So, why should my hippo worry you?
00:57:10.980 You know, you see, the statistics don't matter unless they're the weird and random statistics that I decide to use,
00:57:16.840 where I compare animals to inanimate objects and natural phenomena.
00:57:21.160 So, those statistics are extremely important.
00:57:23.980 But the basic, straightforward statistics about how aggressive my animal is, those don't matter at all, you see.
00:57:29.680 And when I decide to take my hippo for a walk in your neighborhood, you may feel concerned.
00:57:35.080 You may feel like it's perhaps unfair that I should bring a highly aggressive and dangerous animal around you and your family,
00:57:41.380 forcing you to inherit the risk that I've decided to take with my own life.
00:57:45.540 But what you should understand is that, you know, there are no bad hippos, only bad owners.
00:57:50.300 And you might think this is an argument for at least requiring that hippo owners obtain some sort of license
00:57:55.700 and go through some sort of training, given that I'm admitting that a poorly raised hippo will indeed be a danger to the community.
00:58:02.960 But no, I would never even agree to that.
00:58:05.780 I am putting all of the danger of hippo ownership on the owners,
00:58:08.980 but also not agreeing to any sort of regulation or requirement for the owners.
00:58:13.880 I hope that makes sense.
00:58:15.080 And even if it doesn't, too bad.
00:58:17.960 Look, my hippo is a sweetheart.
00:58:20.140 You may hear all these stories about hippos mauling and attacking people,
00:58:22.880 but I could pull out my phone right now and show you so many photos of my hippo not attacking or mauling anyone.
00:58:29.840 How could hippos be dangerous when I have literally dozens of photos of my hippo not being dangerous?
00:58:36.560 Yesterday, I put a silly hat on my hippopotamus.
00:58:40.040 And, like, it was so cute.
00:58:41.700 Are you seriously trying to tell me that an animal in a silly hat can be dangerous?
00:58:45.480 Come on.
00:58:46.300 It, like, it's ridiculous.
00:58:47.900 It's impossible.
00:58:49.040 Far too cute to kill anyone.
00:58:50.880 This is airtight logic.
00:58:52.600 And if you don't see that, it's because you're blinded by your anti-hippo prejudices.
00:58:56.760 Besides, telling me that I can't own a hippo is a slippery slope.
00:58:59.580 First, you stop me from owning the most dangerous land mammal in existence.
00:59:03.140 Next thing I know, you're confiscating my guns.
00:59:05.040 You're kicking me out of my house, forcing me to live in the sewer.
00:59:07.360 However, you see, guns are things that I have a right to own, and a hippo is also a thing.
00:59:13.740 Therefore, I have a right to own a hippo.
00:59:16.640 You see, because the two things are both things.
00:59:19.820 Now, you might claim that they're very different things, but I fail to see the difference.
00:59:24.000 If I were to draw a Venn diagram with hippo in one bubble and a Glock 19 in the other,
00:59:29.180 that middle intersecting bubble would be full of similarities.
00:59:33.040 Too many to count.
00:59:33.800 Now, for example, first of all, they're both things.
00:59:38.420 Second, well, anyway, like I said, there are too many to count.
00:59:42.960 Now, I know what you might be saying.
00:59:44.620 You might be saying, Matt, there are so many different pets that you can safely own.
00:59:49.180 Why do you have to go out and adopt the one kind of pet that presents such a unique and singular risk
00:59:55.340 to you, your children, and your neighbors?
00:59:56.940 Why do you have to, why can't you just not own a hippo?
01:00:01.160 Why does your desire to own a hippo outweigh everyone else's desire to not be mauled to death by a hippo?
01:00:08.180 Well, the answer is, shut up.
01:00:10.740 I'll do what I want.
01:00:12.160 Your questions are harmful and violent.
01:00:13.780 Look, it may hurt you to be crushed to death in the jaws of my hippo,
01:00:18.640 but it hurts me even more to hear you say mean things about my pet hippo.
01:00:24.980 Yes, my hippo can crush your skull, but your anti-hippo rhetoric crushes my soul.
01:00:31.040 And worst of all, it upsets my hippo.
01:00:34.500 And you don't want to upset him.
01:00:36.220 Trust me on that.
01:00:37.760 Anyway, thank you to the Pitbull owners who have shown me the wisdom in this line of thinking.
01:00:42.360 I apologize, truly, for all the years I've spent criticizing you.
01:00:47.360 I see now that I was wrong.
01:00:50.840 I was the insane person.
01:00:52.140 I thought that you were all totally and completely insane and irresponsible.
01:00:56.140 I see now that it was me.
01:00:56.980 All of the Pitbull critics and the hippo critics are wrong.
01:01:02.980 And they are all today canceled.
01:01:06.220 That'll do it for the show today and this week.
01:01:07.900 Thanks for watching.
01:01:08.440 Thanks for listening.
01:01:08.960 Talk to you on Monday.
01:01:10.480 Have a great day.
01:01:11.320 Godspeed.
