The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 1387 - The Nation Rejoices As Another Left-Wing Smear Factory Suffers Mass Layoffs

00:00:00.000 Today on the Malwell Show, first media matters had mass layoffs and now the Southern Poverty Law Center has followed suit.

00:00:05.080 It's been a bloodbath for left-wing smear merchants in recent weeks.

00:00:08.620 It's obviously a cause for celebration, but why is this happening and why now? We'll discuss.

00:00:11.920 Also, Donald Trump is accused of saying unkind things about Milwaukee.

00:00:15.240 The story is total nonsense, but it has forced the left to pretend that they love Milwaukee, which has been funny to watch.

00:00:20.420 Plus, a major scandal in the world of professional sports and an alleged trad wife becomes a viral sensation after saying the N-word.

00:00:27.280 It's an important story, we're told. We'll talk about that and much more today on the Malwell Show.

00:00:31.220 We recently had some monumental news that nobody is talking about.

00:01:00.160 For the first time in our history, the interest we pay on the national debt has surpassed every individual budget item except for Social Security.

00:01:06.600 The United States now spends more on interest than on national defense or Medicare.

00:01:11.320 And the situation is only getting worse as big government continues to spend like drunken sailors.

00:01:15.660 That's why investors, central banks, and concerned savers are turning to gold, something not tied to the inflated U.S. dollar.

00:01:21.540 You can, too, with the help of Birch Gold.

00:01:23.580 Birch Gold understands that navigating financial decisions can be scary.

00:01:26.100 That's why their dedicated in-house IRA department is there to guide you every step of the way.

00:01:31.360 Birch Gold is committed to addressing your questions and concerns promptly.

00:01:34.200 Their team is always ready to provide answers and clarity, whether it's about fees, taxes, and rollovers, or the timing of the process.

00:01:39.940 They're here to ensure that you feel valued and well-informed.

00:01:42.980 Text Walsh to 989898 to talk to one of Birch Gold's experts and claim your free info kit on gold.

00:01:47.480 You'll learn how to convert an existing IRA or 401k into a tax-sheltered IRA in gold.

00:01:51.740 The best part is, it doesn't cost you a penny out of pocket.

00:01:54.660 Just text Walsh to 989898.

00:01:56.800 That's Walsh to 989898.

00:01:59.460 A couple of weeks ago, I covered the large round of layoffs at the left-wing activist group known as Media Matters.

00:02:05.420 Many conservatives celebrated the news because, of course, Media Matters exists for the sole purpose of smearing the opponents of the Democratic Party.

00:02:12.300 They misrepresent people's words, stalk them on social media, and so on and so on.

00:02:16.560 But Media Matters' dishonest attack on Elon Musk and Twitter appears to have been a bridge too far.

00:02:22.040 Elon Musk fought back with a massive lawsuit, which Media Matters' own management cited as one of the reasons for the layoffs.

00:02:29.120 Now, for my part, I wasn't especially thrilled with Media Matters' collapse because, as I said at the time, they essentially function as my PR agency.

00:02:36.980 They keep clipping segments from my show, broadcasting them all over the place, apparently thinking they've found a good gotcha moment.

00:02:43.640 But really, it's always something that my own team was going to post online anyway.

00:02:48.220 And they did all this without taking or even requesting any compensation whatsoever from me.

00:02:53.500 In fact, I never even really thanked them for the pro bono services they provided dependably and, frankly, obsessively over the years.

00:03:00.780 So Media Matters' downfall was something of a bittersweet moment for me and, I think, for many other people in conservative media.

00:03:08.680 Fast forward just a couple of weeks, and yet another left-wing smear factory appears to be on the decline.

00:03:14.800 This time, it's the Southern Poverty Law Center, or SPLC.

00:03:18.740 And this is a collapse that I will openly celebrate because the SPLC is a substantially more effective organization than Media Matters could ever hope to be.

00:03:27.500 More effective at actually advancing left-wing goals.

00:03:30.640 Less effective as a de facto PR agency for us, so the worst of all worlds.

00:03:34.240 And if Media Matters is kind of the B team of Democratic Party hatchet men, then the SPLC is the A team.

00:03:40.480 And by that, I mean they're very evil, but they have a lot more influence.

00:03:45.060 Thankfully, on Thursday, the SPLC announced it's laying off 60 workers, or roughly a quarter of its staff.

00:03:50.200 The union at the SPLC, because for some reason a nonprofit has a union, has said the cuts will have a catastrophic impact on SPLC's day-to-day operations.

00:04:00.440 They won't be able to, you know, save democracy and fight white supremacy anymore, we're told.

00:04:05.960 This is an important story for two reasons.

00:04:08.440 First of all, obviously we're just five months away from Election Day.

00:04:12.040 Two of the Democrats' biggest propaganda outfits getting gutted at a pivotal time like this is a really bad sign for the party's messaging efforts and a great sign for the country.

00:04:23.040 It also suggests that there might be a lot more internal discord within the party and on the left than we realized, which I'll get to in a second.

00:04:32.400 But the other reason this is an important story is that the SPLC has a direct line to federal law enforcement and Joe Biden's DOJ.

00:04:41.040 We know that because the SPLC was one of the sources for the FBI's memo last year proclaiming that, quote,

00:04:47.420 radical traditionalist Catholic ideology has attracted, quote, racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.

00:04:53.640 The FBI warned that these radical traditionalist Catholics, or RTCs, as we're now called, can be identified by their, quote,

00:05:02.680 frequent adherence to anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and white supremacist ideology.

00:05:09.160 The memo concluded by noting that these radical Catholic terrorists, quote, present opportunities for threat mitigation.

00:05:16.600 Now, the FBI's memo, which was written by the Richmond field office, then went on to directly cite the SPLC, quote,

00:05:22.480 following are the nine RTC hate groups operating in the United States in 2021, as defined by the Southern Poverty Law Center,

00:05:30.540 followed by the location of their organizational headquarters.

00:05:33.640 The FBI then copy-pasted a web page from the SPLC.

00:05:37.020 In other words, the SPLC functions a bit like the FBI's cutout.

00:05:41.060 They produce agenda-driven threat assessments or whatever, and then the FBI, pretending the SPLC is some sort of impartial arbiter,

00:05:48.900 cites the SPLC to go after groups that the Democratic Party doesn't like.

00:05:53.160 Now, when he was asked about this under oath last year, the FBI Director Christopher Wray said that he was aghast that the agency had cited the SPLC.

00:06:01.480 He said that he immediately had the memo removed from FBI systems.

00:06:05.980 Watch.

00:06:07.540 Director Wray, I'm from Georgia.

00:06:10.740 You've been there the last several years.

00:06:12.940 Twenty years ago, if you looked at the list of groups the SPLC would have said were hate groups, those groups would have been proud to have been named by them,

00:06:19.760 and I think most Americans would have agreed with the list that they put out.

00:06:24.100 Today, they put out lists with names like the American Family Association and the Alliance Defending Freedom,

00:06:30.400 and yet one of their attorneys was just recently charged in Atlanta with domestic terrorism.

00:06:36.460 It bothers me to see them cited as a source from your agency on who is and is not considered a domestic terrorist.

00:06:46.800 Can you speak to the relationship between the FBI and the influence that the SPLC has?

00:06:53.700 Is it just a list that you look at from time to time, or is there coordination?

00:06:58.700 Well, first off, just to be clear, I've considered Georgia my home since I first got married, you know, back in 1989.

00:07:07.140 So we have that in common.

00:07:08.520 Second, as to the product that you're referring to, the intelligence product, when I first saw it, and I said this yesterday, I was aghast.

00:07:20.240 It was a single piece of an intelligence product by one field office.

00:07:24.620 It did not meet our standards, and I had it immediately removed and withdrawn, and we've taken steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.

00:07:31.620 And one of the reasons I say that, one of the ways in which I say that, is the sourcing, to your question, the sourcing didn't meet our standards.

00:07:38.960 Thank you.

00:07:40.100 Okay, so we learned two things from that.

00:07:41.680 One is that Christopher Wray likes the state of Georgia.

00:07:45.740 I don't know what that had to do with anything.

00:07:47.980 He also says that it was just one field office making an innocent little mistake and that it won't happen again.

00:07:53.200 But no part of that statement appears to be true.

00:07:56.020 I mean, he might actually like the state of Georgia.

00:07:58.180 I don't know.

00:07:58.540 It doesn't matter.

00:07:58.960 The testimony you just saw was from March of last year.

00:08:01.800 Seven months later, Senators Chuck Grassley and James Lankford found that, quote,

00:08:06.120 FBI Director Christopher Wray has yet to fully own up to the extent of the memo's origins, even in congressional testimony.

00:08:11.980 During a September FBI briefing to Senate staff, it was clear the FBI still relies on SPLC information, close quote. 0.89

00:08:20.220 So the head of the FBI admits under oath that the SPLC is a garbage source,

00:08:24.640 but the FBI is still apparently citing the SPLC in private briefings with the Senate. 0.77

00:08:28.960 It's obviously a major problem, and it may constitute perjury by the FBI director, which is, you would think, a significant thing.

00:08:34.840 But it's not really surprising.

00:08:36.960 In an interview a couple of years ago, Wray admitted that the FBI also regularly works with another partisan and totally discredited left-wing organization called the ADL.

00:08:45.360 Here's Wray speaking directly with the head of the ADL.

00:08:49.360 Watch.

00:08:50.620 The one dot that maybe one of your members has is brought forward with the one dot that we might have so that we can disrupt the attack.

00:09:00.620 So the eyes and ears part is huge.

00:09:02.420 Well, I know many of us, you know, we look at the IMA bombing in Argentina or even the bombing in Oklahoma City.

00:09:09.040 We worry about this lone threat, whether it's Iranian sleeper agents or domestic extremists.

00:09:14.980 And when we've had so many issues on a day-to-day basis, it is the FBI that works directly with the ADL every day.

00:09:23.320 And we could not do our job, if you will, of fighting anti-Semitism without them doing their job of protecting our community.

00:09:30.540 So, Director Wray, we are in your—we really, really have the deepest appreciation for you and all of your professionals.

00:09:37.380 Thank you for the work that you do.

00:09:39.160 Thank you, Jonathan.

00:09:40.260 Thank you for what you do.

00:09:42.560 So you heard it there.

00:09:43.500 It's the FBI that works directly with the ADL every day, says the head of the ADL.

00:09:48.420 And the FBI director agrees, saying that the ADL apparently participates in law enforcement investigations.

00:09:53.900 This is the same ADL that sent out a memo warning about extremist parents at school board meetings who dare to question, quote, COVID-19 mandates and, quote, critical race theory.

00:10:03.540 You might remember that Merrick Garland's DOJ then began investigating these school board meetings, coincidentally enough.

00:10:08.700 This is the same ADL that published a definition on its website saying that it's impossible to be racist against white people.

00:10:13.560 According to the definition that was on the ADL's website for several years, racism means, quote, the marginalization and or oppression of people of color.

00:10:22.500 And white people have no color, as we have learned. 0.95

00:10:26.320 I could give many more examples, including the ADL's political targeting of Elon Musk on behalf of the Democratic Party or their various calls to censor conservative commentators and their lies about the so-called Great Replacement Theory and so on.

00:10:37.060 Now, the point is that this is not an organization that a nonpartisan FBI would ever dream of working with.

00:10:43.080 But we don't have a nonpartisan FBI.

00:10:44.600 So instead, the FBI director is openly bragging about working directly with left-wing activists to target the opponents of those left-wing activists.

00:10:53.860 And he only apologizes when he's caught.

00:10:56.340 Then he goes right back to doing the exact same thing.

00:10:58.380 Now, decades ago, back in the 70s, you could make a plausible case that the FBI would have a reason to be working with groups like the SPLC.

00:11:07.420 They were founded initially, supposedly, to fight various forms of discrimination in court with the goal of alleviating the root causes of southern poverty, hence the name, particularly in the black community.

00:11:18.280 But about a decade in, the SPLC decided to give up the idea of solving southern poverty, which, as you may have noticed, is still quite pervasive.

00:11:26.080 And instead, the SPLC morphed into a smear factory.

00:11:29.580 They've gone after pretty much everyone with a position on abortion or immigration or Islamic extremism or really any other subject that they disagree with.

00:11:37.700 Some of the allegedly radical and hateful groups identified by the SPLC include such well-known domestic terror organizations as the Federalist Society, PragerU, the Heritage Foundation, the Center for Immigration Studies,

00:11:50.520 the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, the Family Research Council, which an SPLC follower targeted and attempted mass murder back in 2012, you may remember.

00:12:00.540 These are all mainstream conservative organizations, as you probably know, but that didn't faze the SPLC.

00:12:06.280 They've also targeted people like Ben Carson, Dennis Prager, Franklin Graham.

00:12:09.440 Ben Carson, for example, appeared on the SPLC's hate list because he holds the radical, unthinkable view that marriage is between one man and one woman.

00:12:16.520 And, you know, that tenet of Christianity that's also been a universal view for pretty much all of human history, almost everywhere in the world.

00:12:23.840 They later half-heartedly apologized for the hit on Carson, saying that their smear job labeling him as an extremist didn't meet their non-existent standards.

00:12:30.800 And not surprisingly, the SPLC also has a page on their website dedicated to exposing and cataloging the crimes of the dangerous extremist whose show you're watching right now.

00:12:41.800 But all of those attacks pale in comparison to SPLC's efforts to defame Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Majid Nawaz.

00:12:48.800 They appeared in the SPLC's Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists for the Crime of Denouncing Violent Islamic Extremism.

00:12:56.300 Ayaan Hirsi Ali is one of the leading human rights activists alive.

00:12:59.540 She suffered female genital mutilation at the hands of actual extremists, who are actually violent.

00:13:05.200 But according to the SPLC, she has no right to criticize the people who did that to her.

00:13:11.300 These claims were so absurd that the SPLC pulled its Field Guide on extremism entirely.

00:13:15.340 They also publicly apologized for calling Nawaz an extremist, paid several million dollars in a settlement.

00:13:20.800 Again, this is the group that the FBI apparently still relies on for investigative information.

00:13:25.020 And that's why we should all celebrate the fact that the SPLC has been gutted.

00:13:29.660 It may mean fewer coordinated left-wing assaults on pro-life organizations and pro-life activists, for one thing.

00:13:36.100 Now, unfortunately, like Media Matters or any other form of highly invasive and malignant cancer, the SPLC probably will not entirely go away.

00:13:45.060 It's not shutting down, at least not right now.

00:13:47.000 And they don't appear to be having financial issues either, since they're historically very well funded.

00:13:51.980 And they reportedly still receive donations from liberals who think defaming innocent people is some kind of public service.

00:13:58.060 That's according to the SPLC's union, which tweeted yesterday, quote,

00:14:01.320 Today, SPLC, an organization with nearly a billion dollars in reserves, given an F rating by the Charity Watch for hoarding donations, gutted its staff by a quarter.

00:14:11.640 SPLC's decision has a catastrophic impact on the organization's work in support of immigrants seeking justice and its mission to dismantle white supremacy,

00:14:19.060 strengthen intersectional movements, and advance human rights through support of educators.

00:14:23.720 So there's a bit of infighting going on at the SPLC, and that post does raise an interesting question.

00:14:31.200 If it's true the SPLC is financially sound, which, again, they probably are with all the donations coming in and all of the very wealthy funders that they have,

00:14:40.380 why are they then firing a bunch of employees?

00:14:43.060 Over at Hot Air, David Storm theorizes that SPLC is laying off the far-left fringe of its workforce

00:14:48.960 because they've become unruly, uncooperative, inconvenienced.

00:14:54.340 That would explain why the SPLC's union is lashing out at the SPLC right now on Twitter, quote,

00:14:58.960 As Democrats rely more on radical activists, according to Storm, they can lose control of the messaging and direction.

00:15:04.820 Younger folks who are now getting hired genuinely believe the world is on fire, 0.98

00:15:08.640 that white supremacy is on the rise, that settler colonialists are oppressing the natives,

00:15:13.380 that the borders must be open.

00:15:14.960 People at the top generally use the issues to collect money to help Democrats and slander Republicans.

00:15:19.620 Suddenly, they're facing revolts.

00:15:20.840 I suspect that that's part of what's at work here.

00:15:22.840 The SPLC isn't going broke, so it's likely that they're dumping the most troublesome employees under the guise of a restructuring.

00:15:30.100 Now, if that's the case, then, unfortunately, SPLC will probably stick around.

00:15:34.060 But at least, like Media Matters, they'll have to orchestrate their smears from now on with a lot less manpower.

00:15:40.180 And that means I will have fewer unpaid PR representatives going forward, spreading clips of my best moments all over the Internet.

00:15:46.860 And yes, that's kind of a bummer, for me at least.

00:15:49.580 But it also means that without the SPLC running at full capacity, Joe Biden's DOJ will have a harder time cooking up fake justifications to harass their political enemies.

00:15:59.620 And with just a few months to go until the election, that is unquestionably a big win for the quote-unquote democracy that Media Matters and the SPLC pretend to care so much about.

00:16:13.080 Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:16:16.860 We'll be right back.

00:16:46.860 The Great American Story, A Land of Hope.

00:16:48.380 In this course, you'll learn from Hillsdale College professors as they explore the history of America as a land of hope founded on high principles and presenting the great triumphs and achievements of our nation's past, as well as the shortcomings and failures.

00:16:59.580 It offers a broad and unbiased study of the kind essential to the cultivation of intelligent patriotism.

00:17:06.140 The course is self-paced so that you can start whenever and wherever.

00:17:09.080 Start your free course, The Great American Story, A Land of Hope, today.

00:17:12.560 Go to hillsdale.edu slash walsh to enroll.

00:17:15.200 That's no cost.

00:17:15.860 It's easy to get started.

00:17:17.020 That's hillsdale.edu slash walsh to enroll.

00:17:20.420 Hillsdale.edu slash walsh.

00:17:22.760 So we have a new fake Trump controversy.

00:17:24.940 It's been three days since the last one, so this is right on schedule.

00:17:27.460 A fake news journalist named Jake Sherman reported yesterday that Donald Trump said to House Republicans in a meeting, this is what he said, supposedly,

00:17:35.520 Milwaukee, where we're having our convention, is a horrible city.

00:17:40.840 So that's the scandal. 0.67

00:17:42.740 He called Milwaukee horrible. 0.91

00:17:44.620 It's a horrible city.

00:17:46.560 Now, the problem, of course, is that, and this was, by the way, this was big news.

00:17:50.160 It was treated as big headline news.

00:17:52.640 The problem is that, to begin with, it's not true.

00:17:55.720 Here's Breitbart.

00:17:56.560 House Republicans are refuting a report that former President Donald Trump on Thursday disparaged Milwaukee, the host city for the Republican National Convention, in July.

00:18:05.240 Punchbowl News founder Jake Sherman posted on X about the comments.

00:18:10.560 Media were not present for the meeting, so Sherman would have heard this secondhand.

00:18:14.440 However, he did not attribute the comment to any source, even an anonymous one.

00:18:19.280 And then we have a bunch of other representatives who are in this meeting who have since come out and said that they were in the meeting and it didn't happen.

00:18:33.640 So several people that were in the meeting actually there saying that he never said those words.

00:18:39.720 So people who were not in the room and who haven't even been named, anonymous people who were not there say that he said it.

00:18:48.200 People who were in the room say that he didn't say it.

00:18:51.020 And that kind of gives you the answer.

00:18:53.180 But the Democrats, increasingly desperate as they are, of course, can't let any fake controversy, no matter how fake it may be, no matter how unimportant and silly it may be, they can't let it go to waste.

00:19:06.160 So leftists have spent much of the last 24 hours attacking Trump for this thing that he didn't say,

00:19:14.100 while also performatively expressing their love for Milwaukee.

00:19:19.640 And it's been pretty funny to watch.

00:19:21.980 There's been lots of statements and tweets put out by Democrats and leftists talking about how wonderful Milwaukee is.

00:19:29.320 Joe Biden tweeted, I happen to love Milwaukee.

00:19:32.740 The Lincoln Project, they put out a whole tribute.

00:19:34.840 They made a whole tribute to Milwaukee that they put out to defend the city against the fake attacks from Donald Trump.

00:19:42.040 Let's watch that.

00:19:44.040 Milwaukee, our town, the Bucks, the Brewers, Harley Davidson, brats, cheese curds, best beer in the world.

00:19:54.800 We work hard, we play hard.

00:19:57.340 We're damn proud of Milwaukee.

00:19:59.640 It's home and we love it.

00:20:02.380 If Donald Trump says Milwaukee is a terrible city, imagine how little he thinks of the rest of Wisconsin.

00:20:08.400 Right, so Milwaukee, so wonderful.

00:20:16.240 The Biden camp put out another tweet saying, we think Milwaukee is lovely, by the way.

00:20:21.980 And so on and so on, just a lot of stuff like that.

00:20:24.400 Of course, they're not fooling anyone here with all this, Milwaukee is so wonderful.

00:20:31.100 No one really thinks, Milwaukee is nothing special.

00:20:34.180 Let's be honest about it.

00:20:35.280 It has some nice parts, and the nice parts are also surrounded by dangerous crime-riddled cesspools that you wouldn't even want your dog to walk through, like so many other major cities.

00:20:47.120 So it's similar in that way to other major American cities.

00:20:49.560 But even aside from the violent crime, you know, it's fine.

00:20:54.660 It's Milwaukee.

00:20:55.280 It's fine.

00:20:56.780 Nobody outside of Milwaukee loves Milwaukee.

00:20:59.920 And most of the people in Milwaukee don't love Milwaukee.

00:21:02.760 Like, you don't love it.

00:21:04.420 You might be fine with it.

00:21:06.760 You've never met one single person in your whole life who has ever said that Milwaukee is their favorite city.

00:21:12.520 It's never happened.

00:21:14.080 Or their favorite place to go on vacation.

00:21:16.040 Right, when was the last time you heard of someone, like, you asked, well, what did you do on your vacation?

00:21:20.340 Oh, we went to Milwaukee.

00:21:22.240 It's never happened.

00:21:23.960 Nothing against Milwaukee.

00:21:26.880 It's fine.

00:21:27.660 It's, you know, it's whatever.

00:21:28.820 It's like the Applebee's of American cities.

00:21:31.500 Nothing against it.

00:21:32.440 I'm just saying it's like if Trump allegedly said that Applebee's is a terrible restaurant, and then all the Biden drones came out and said, we love Applebee's.

00:21:44.360 Applebee's is the greatest restaurant.

00:21:46.580 Applebee's is delicious.

00:21:47.800 No, no, it's not.

00:21:48.880 You don't love it.

00:21:49.740 Nobody does.

00:21:51.340 I'm not saying you have to hate it.

00:21:53.400 But it's Applebee's.

00:21:54.680 Calm down.

00:21:55.580 It's just Applebee's.

00:21:56.360 And the funny thing about this is that they're trying to make themselves seem like normal people, like the common man, by talking about how much they love Milwaukee.

00:22:09.300 That just makes them seem even more out of touch than they already are, because normal people don't go around talking about how much they love Milwaukee.

00:22:17.720 Okay?

00:22:17.940 It's like if you wanted to prove that you are a working-class American, so you went to Walmart and started walking around and marveling at it.

00:22:27.540 Oh, wow.

00:22:28.800 It's beautiful.

00:22:31.520 Wow.

00:22:32.100 Look at Walmart.

00:22:33.460 Wow.

00:22:34.740 Say, folks, what do you think?

00:22:35.940 This is pretty great here at Walmart.

00:22:39.280 That's exactly what a normal, average Walmart shopper would never do.

00:22:42.740 You could not possibly signal yourself as an outsider any more than by doing that.

00:22:50.240 In fact, you make yourself seem more normal by walking around Walmart and complaining about it.

00:22:56.700 The lines are long.

00:22:58.140 They don't have the type of whatever chip that I want, whatever.

00:23:03.560 That's what normal people do.

00:23:06.400 So it's Milwaukee.

00:23:08.060 It's fine.

00:23:08.520 It's right there on Lake Michigan.

00:23:09.560 It's got some nice spots around the water.

00:23:10.960 A bunch of spots that aren't nice.

00:23:13.420 The food is okay.

00:23:15.540 You know, not great.

00:23:17.120 It's fine.

00:23:17.700 The traffic is, you know, not terrible by city standards.

00:23:20.900 It's not Washington, D.C. or L.A. as far as that goes.

00:23:25.380 Milwaukee's nicer spots are better preserved and have remained nicer than, say, a place like Baltimore.

00:23:32.840 So it's fine.

00:23:33.920 That's it.

00:23:36.680 All right.

00:23:37.740 Here's a place that is not as fine.

00:23:40.320 In Chicago, NBC15 reports, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has spent over $30,000 in campaign funds on expenses related to personal grooming, according to financial disclosures reviewed by the National Desk.

00:23:55.240 Mayor Johnson was elected in April 2023.

00:23:58.780 His latest disclosure lists a payment of $4,000 to Anthony Jones Salon for event expenses.

00:24:06.660 Campaign manager Bill Neidhart clarified to the Chicago Sun-Times the money was actually given to AJ Styles Barber and Beauty Salon and said the filing would be amended to reflect this.

00:24:17.980 So it wasn't that salon.

00:24:18.940 It was a different salon.

00:24:19.520 The expense is one of several over the last year and a half devoted to grooming.

00:24:25.680 Another report from the end of 2023 discloses 13 transactions with makeup magic, amounting to almost $7,000.

00:24:37.740 Disclosures throughout 2023 show Johnson's campaign made repeated trips to this location and others amounting to over $30,000 in makeup expenses since taking office.

00:24:47.240 So makeup and hair and makeup are the two things.

00:24:51.340 Now, at the time of this report, the mayor's office had not responded to a request for comment, but the mayor did finally respond to a question about it.

00:24:59.660 Here he is at a press conference.

00:25:02.020 I believe this was yesterday.

00:25:03.420 Watch.

00:25:03.640 Let me ask you another question.

00:25:07.180 There will be the awkward elephant in the room, and that is about the Sun-Times story last week about your spending of $30,000 from your campaign fund for hair and makeup.

00:25:16.960 Can you respond to that and explain why you think that's an appropriate use of the campaign dollars to what to many people seems like a lot of money?

00:25:28.060 I think it's always appropriate to make sure that we're investing in small businesses, especially minority-owned, black-owned, women-owned businesses.

00:25:36.640 Our campaign spends money on food.

00:25:40.360 We support black and brown-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, printing.

00:25:45.780 There are a number of things that my campaign spends dollars on.

00:25:49.900 And I'm so committed to supporting small businesses that even as mayor, we just made another announcement of another $34, $35 million available for small businesses.

00:26:03.100 That's important to people, that we lift up small businesses that, in particular, don't always get the attention and support that they deserve.

00:26:13.020 And so we're going to continue to do that as a city, and we'll make sure that, you know, I encourage all of you in this room, support small businesses.

00:26:23.500 Go get your hair and makeup done by black people in particular. 0.94

00:26:28.780 Okay. 0.59

00:26:30.720 First of all, how did that guy spend that kind of money on his hair?

00:26:35.120 And I'm not saying, you know, I have a lot of room to talk.

00:26:38.820 My hairstyle may not be extravagant itself, but where is that money, like, going?

00:26:45.580 Why would that hairstyle require that kind of money and that kind of upkeep?

00:26:50.440 I don't get it.

00:26:52.300 Is he going to a barber who, like, uses trimmers made out of pure gold?

00:26:58.980 Scissors made out of endangered elephant tusks or something?

00:27:03.820 I don't understand that.

00:27:05.920 And this also seems to be a theme.

00:27:08.180 If you're having a little bit of deja vu, this is a theme with Chicago mayors to have these kinds of scandals.

00:27:15.640 Remember the old mayor, Mayor Lightfoot, had her own salon-related controversy. 0.99

00:27:20.620 She went to get her hair done, if I remember correctly. 0.69

00:27:23.980 The controversy was that she got her hair done while the COVID lockdowns were still happening.

00:27:29.240 So she forced everyone else to stay home while she went out to get her hair done. 1.00

00:27:32.960 And we all had the same question there.

00:27:36.480 Putting the ethics aside, putting the hypocrisy aside, like, why are you bothering to spend that money on your hair?

00:27:45.180 And where is that money going?

00:27:46.480 Lori Lightfoot, it looked like her hairstylist was the landscaper.

00:27:54.560 It looked like she just went outside while the guy had shears.

00:27:57.800 He was pruning the bushes.

00:27:58.680 And she just went outside, hey, can you take some off the top? 0.82

00:28:02.780 And she was spending all this money on hairstyles. 0.64

00:28:05.680 It was kind of strange.

00:28:07.040 More to the point, he's using campaign funds on his vanity like this.

00:28:11.780 And then his excuse is that he's supporting small businesses.

00:28:15.940 That's why he was doing it, you see.

00:28:18.140 Not for his own sake.

00:28:19.100 He was just trying, he felt bad for these small businesses.

00:28:21.940 He was just supporting them.

00:28:23.880 Minority-owned businesses, no less. 0.99

00:28:26.740 That changes everything.

00:28:29.040 Hey, Mayor, why did you spend tens of thousands of dollars of campaign funds on your hair and makeup?

00:28:33.020 Oh, no, it's okay.

00:28:34.660 Black people were doing my hair, you see. 0.67

00:28:38.040 Oh, okay, well, then never mind. 0.91

00:28:39.460 You should have said that to begin with. 1.00

00:28:42.220 So this is obviously a pathetic, ridiculous excuse. 0.98

00:28:45.900 There are a lot of ways to support small businesses. 0.97

00:28:50.900 Not that supporting small businesses is really the point of campaign funds.

00:28:55.700 People give money to your campaign because for whatever ungodly reason, they want you to get elected.

00:29:01.600 Which means that, frankly, they deserve for their money to be wasted in this way.

00:29:05.280 So it doesn't really upset me that much.

00:29:07.320 But that's no excuse for Brandon Johnson.

00:29:10.280 He has no good excuse.

00:29:12.080 Can't come up with one.

00:29:13.140 He also doesn't need to come up with one, and he knows that.

00:29:16.540 Because there will be no accountability.

00:29:18.640 And even if there is, eventually, it's not going to improve anything in Chicago.

00:29:25.680 Because that's the other part of this, is that Brandon Johnson is everything bad about Lori Lightfoot, but worse.

00:29:32.380 He even has the same kinds of scandals that she had.

00:29:37.860 So they got rid of her and replaced her with a worse version of herself. 0.98

00:29:42.600 And now Chicago is in even worse shape than it was.

00:29:45.460 And its leadership is an even bigger joke than it was.

00:29:49.420 And that's how these things generally work.

00:29:51.020 Here's a report from the Tennessee Star as we continue to follow the revelations about the covenant shooter.

00:30:03.480 And, of course, we had our report a few days ago based on writings that were obtained by the Daily Wire making the motives of the covenant shooter,

00:30:18.240 as the motives become clearer and clearer, and also the motives for covering it up also become clearer and clearer.

00:30:25.260 Well, here's another report.

00:30:27.220 This is the latest one.

00:30:28.540 It's from two days ago from the Tennessee Star.

00:30:34.380 It says, the headline is,

00:30:36.100 Fifth medication prescribed to covenant killer Audrey Hale was an anti-anxiety drug associated with mania, hostility, and irritability.

00:30:45.580 It says, a photograph of medication bottles prescribed to covenant school killer Audrey Elizabeth Hale reveals that she was given a fifth,

00:30:53.020 previously unknown prescription.

00:30:54.520 This is in addition to the four medications previously reported by the Tennessee Star.

00:30:59.200 The image of the prescription bottles obtained by the Star, from a source familiar with the covenant investigation,

00:31:04.780 depict four orange, semi-transparent prescription bottles with blue lids and white labels.

00:31:10.140 All of the bottles are prescribed to Audrey E. Hale and bear the name of a psychiatric nurse practitioner who runs a practice based in Nashville.

00:31:17.020 An additional image of a receipt suggests at least one medication was prescribed by a Nashville psychiatrist who also operates his own practice.

00:31:25.720 The third and fourth prescription bottles bear the names of medications the Star reported after obtaining the Metro Nashville Police Department affidavit used to obtain a search warrant for Vanderbilt University Medical Center,

00:31:36.260 where Hale was a 22-year mental health patient.

00:31:40.660 However, the second prescription bottle is labeled Lorazepam, which is also known as Ativan, an anti-anxiety medication.

00:31:48.500 Hale was not previously known to be taking this medication and the partially visible instructions shown on the prescription bottle in the photograph suggests Hale took one tablet daily.

00:31:56.780 It was previously established by the Star that Hale was prescribed the anti-anxiety medication Buspirone, the allergy and anti-anxiety medication Hydroxazine,

00:32:07.360 and the antidepressant Lexapro under its generic name is Scatalopram.

00:32:12.740 Okay, so this is prescription number five, and this is a drug, again, known to be associated with mania, hostility, and irritability.

00:32:26.740 Five prescriptions this person was on that we know of.

00:32:32.580 And all of them, or the majority of them that we know of, were apparently supposed to be helping with mental health issues.

00:32:53.560 And at the same time, these are also drugs, at least in particular this latest one, that has known side effects.

00:33:02.580 And one of the side effects is hostility.

00:33:08.120 You know, we've talked about this plenty of times on the show.

00:33:10.340 I did a big monologue about it several months ago.

00:33:14.740 This is a common theme.

00:33:17.780 We find this is very often the case where you have these mass shooters,

00:33:23.700 and you have to distinguish here because, you know, FBI data and the media,

00:33:29.220 sometimes when they talk about mass shootings, they tend to lump together things like this,

00:33:34.560 school shooting type mass shootings, with like gang violence in the city.

00:33:40.640 And those things are similar in terms of body count,

00:33:45.260 similar in terms of, you know, how violent and terrible they are.

00:33:48.980 It's not like one is necessarily worse than the other.

00:33:53.140 Well, I mean, I think a school shooting in many ways is worse than gang violence.

00:33:59.740 But in terms of body count, the number of people that are being killed, you know,

00:34:03.360 those with the similarities end.

00:34:07.040 But I think we all understand intuitively that there is a distinction here.

00:34:11.820 There's a certain type of mass killing.

00:34:13.920 You know, gang violence is one type, and then there's this kind of mass killing.

00:34:21.260 And when it comes to this kind of mass killing, what you find so often

00:34:25.440 is that these killers are on these kinds of drugs, antidepressants, anti-anxiety.

00:34:32.820 And very often these are drugs that are known to have as side effects

00:34:37.360 violence, aggression, hostility.

00:34:40.220 And then what do you know?

00:34:45.480 You have people that are taking these drugs that are lashing out exactly in that fashion.

00:34:52.500 And yet the connection is never made.

00:34:54.960 At least it's not made in the mainstream.

00:34:56.340 It's not made by the corporate media.

00:34:58.380 We're not supposed to talk about it.

00:35:02.500 We're also not supposed to talk about the fact that,

00:35:05.260 okay, you're giving somebody all these psychiatric drugs.

00:35:08.600 Apparently, they aren't working, which is why you keep giving her more.

00:35:13.900 So when you have someone and they're on a psychiatric drug

00:35:16.500 and it's not having the effect that you want it to have.

00:35:20.340 And so the solution is, well, give them another drug.

00:35:23.580 And that's not working either.

00:35:24.720 So just give them another drug.

00:35:26.140 And that's not working.

00:35:26.960 Let's do another one and another one.

00:35:28.260 Let's just keep giving different drugs.

00:35:30.260 Even though it's clearly not working,

00:35:33.580 which is why you keep giving them more and more.

00:35:39.540 This is extreme negligence at best.

00:35:45.860 When you have these doctors and psychiatrists who do this.

00:35:48.600 Just throw pill after pill at the problem.

00:35:55.580 When there are so clearly,

00:35:57.580 there are all kinds of underlying problems here and issues,

00:36:00.560 and just throwing pills at them.

00:36:04.380 And then when something horrific like this happens,

00:36:06.940 there is no accountability

00:36:08.320 for any of the people that were handing these drugs out like candy.

00:36:14.100 Let's move to this.

00:36:19.300 We have big news here at The Daily Wire.

00:36:23.380 As was announced just yesterday,

00:36:25.200 The Daily Wire is teaming up with our good friends at Angel Studios

00:36:27.960 for the release of the film Sound of Hope,

00:36:30.680 the story of Possum Trot.

00:36:32.600 We'll go ahead and play the trailer,

00:36:34.000 and then we'll talk about it.

00:36:35.080 Here it is.

00:36:36.300 Are you sure these people want us?

00:36:38.800 I know they do.

00:36:40.080 You can call me Mama.

00:36:44.100 It's hard to feel like I'm the only one who sees these things.

00:36:51.380 70% of the kids in the system are there because of neglect.

00:36:56.460 The other 30% are put through hell.

00:37:02.600 We need your help.

00:37:06.980 Can you imagine our kids on their own?

00:37:11.120 We can't just look away.

00:37:14.720 The state ain't no family.

00:37:17.580 Are you sure these people want us?

00:37:20.080 I know they do.

00:37:21.420 You can call me Mama.

00:37:26.440 Oh, Lord.

00:37:28.520 No!

00:37:29.260 No, no, no, no!

00:37:32.600 If we wrap our arms around the most vulnerable,

00:37:35.580 then what do we have?

00:37:36.420 Noise!

00:37:37.280 And the children can't take the noise anymore.

00:37:39.560 This is something that we must do.

00:37:48.220 22 families want to adopt.

00:37:50.360 The whole town wants kids now. 0.71

00:37:52.060 That's about right.

00:37:54.840 What's happening with Possum Trot could mean a huge change for the system.

00:37:58.640 We want the ones that nobody else want.

00:38:03.860 Who hurt you, baby? 1.00

00:38:05.960 I'm not giving up on you.

00:38:07.580 You can't give up on me either.

00:38:08.820 What are we going to do?

00:38:13.480 Everybody's falling apart.

00:38:14.600 I'm doing the best I can.

00:38:18.840 A real world hits heart.

00:38:20.540 I don't want to be here!

00:38:21.840 I can't give him back.

00:38:27.140 We got to work on this together.

00:38:33.660 We your people now.

00:38:35.860 And love never gives up.

00:38:38.640 So as you saw there,

00:38:53.800 this is a true story about families in a small town in Texas

00:38:56.320 who adopt 77 kids out of the foster care system.

00:39:01.280 And I can tell you this is not a movie that

00:39:03.160 glosses over the challenges faced by those families.

00:39:06.320 It gives you a very raw, very honest, powerful look

00:39:10.140 at the sacrifices these families made.

00:39:12.440 It's a highly effective movie.

00:39:13.820 Well made, moving.

00:39:15.520 It's actually telling a story worth telling.

00:39:18.140 And that's one of the first questions you should ask about

00:39:20.460 any new film, I think,

00:39:23.300 which is why is this story worth telling?

00:39:26.960 Why did you want to tell that story?

00:39:29.160 And often the answer will be,

00:39:31.740 well, it's not really worth telling.

00:39:32.820 You know, and in so many cases with so many Hollywood movies,

00:39:36.940 the movies that are getting made,

00:39:39.080 they're not getting made because the story is worth telling.

00:39:42.180 Nobody involved in telling the story

00:39:43.940 really thinks that it's worth telling.

00:39:46.840 You have all these stories being told by Hollywood

00:39:48.920 and the actual storytellers don't even care about the stories.

00:39:51.700 It's being made for other reasons,

00:39:55.140 a cynical cash grab,

00:39:56.780 a vehicle for, you know,

00:39:58.420 political, ideological indoctrination and sermonizing,

00:40:02.240 a way to advertise merchandise,

00:40:04.040 as is the case with so many franchise films,

00:40:05.860 sometimes all of these things combined.

00:40:09.580 But the good news is that this film is none of that.

00:40:11.960 It's a powerful, worthwhile story told very well.

00:40:15.700 Daily Wire is teaming up with Angel Studios on the movie.

00:40:17.960 It'll be in theaters on July 4th,

00:40:19.580 wide release.

00:40:21.200 I'm excited about the film.

00:40:22.320 I'm also really excited about,

00:40:23.640 you know, going into business with Angel Studios.

00:40:26.300 And I'm all about healthy competition.

00:40:29.360 But the reality is that if we want to have a serious shot

00:40:33.900 at taking on the big guys in entertainment,

00:40:36.660 then the insurgents,

00:40:38.340 the, let's say, the rebel forces in this culture war

00:40:41.800 need to be able to work together strategically.

00:40:44.420 And that's what's happening here.

00:40:45.280 I think it's really exciting.

00:40:46.020 Let's wrap up with a very troubling story

00:40:49.260 out of the world of professional sports.

00:40:53.400 Here's the story from the Daily Wire.

00:40:56.900 Hot dog eating legend Joey Chestnut

00:40:59.020 signed with a vegan wiener brand.

00:41:02.360 And now he's out of the annual July 4th

00:41:04.960 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition

00:41:06.520 that he wins every year.

00:41:08.420 California-born Chestnut,

00:41:09.640 who recently signed up with a brand

00:41:10.940 called Impossible Foods,

00:41:12.640 won't be allowed to compete in the Coney Island tradition

00:41:14.920 and defend the title he's won 16 times,

00:41:17.080 including every year since 2016.

00:41:19.740 The food champ has completely dominated the competition,

00:41:22.320 earning a world record in 2021

00:41:23.800 with 76 dogs and buns.

00:41:26.460 Last year he kept the crown

00:41:27.680 after chomping down on 62 wieners and buns.

00:41:32.500 But this year he looks like

00:41:34.340 he's not going to be at the competition

00:41:35.380 because he partnered with this vegan hot dog brand.

00:41:38.260 So, anyway, this is obviously a huge story,

00:41:41.380 major scandal involving

00:41:42.480 one of the most iconic athletes in the country.

00:41:46.540 And I don't need to tell you that Joey Chestnut,

00:41:48.540 he's like Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps,

00:41:51.020 rolled into one, except with eating.

00:41:54.460 Undisputed champion of shoving food into his face.

00:41:57.720 And for years now,

00:41:58.640 American families have gathered around the television

00:42:00.520 on July 4th to watch this man

00:42:02.520 put his skill and athleticism on display.

00:42:05.160 But it sounds like everything's going to change now.

00:42:09.080 And this country will never be the same after it.

00:42:12.980 And I do want to say something about this

00:42:14.780 because the general public

00:42:17.600 seems to be rallying around Joey Chestnut.

00:42:21.940 They seem to view him as the victim here.

00:42:24.140 You know, the narrative is that,

00:42:26.400 well, how dare the Nathan's Hot Dog Company

00:42:29.060 exclude him from taking part

00:42:31.080 just because he's partnering

00:42:32.020 with this vegan hot dog brand.

00:42:33.560 I don't think that's the correct interpretation.

00:42:39.960 And I understand why nobody wants to admit this,

00:42:41.640 but the truth is that Joey Chestnut

00:42:43.260 is the villain of this story.

00:42:44.920 I mean, he betrayed us.

00:42:47.060 This man is the king of hot dogs.

00:42:50.840 And that's the crown that he carries,

00:42:53.140 but also the responsibility.

00:42:55.300 With great power comes great responsibility.

00:42:57.820 And yet now he's partnering with a vegan brand.

00:43:02.780 A competitive eating champion

00:43:04.580 is selling out to the vegans.

00:43:07.740 That's what,

00:43:09.080 and hawking vegan hot dogs, no less.

00:43:12.860 This is, I mean,

00:43:14.080 this is one of the worst betrayals

00:43:15.920 in American history. 1.00

00:43:17.100 He's a traitor. 1.00

00:43:20.000 He should have his citizenship revoked. 1.00

00:43:22.640 Honestly.

00:43:24.440 Look, obviously nobody knows

00:43:26.040 what kind of meat they put in hot dogs.

00:43:27.840 That's the whole fun, right?

00:43:29.040 Nobody knows what,

00:43:30.100 you have a hot dog,

00:43:31.140 sometimes they say it's a beef hot dog,

00:43:32.620 it's pork,

00:43:33.040 but nobody knows.

00:43:34.740 What animal is it?

00:43:35.460 What part of the animal?

00:43:36.460 We don't know.

00:43:37.840 The people who make the hot dogs,

00:43:39.080 they don't even know.

00:43:39.900 They just take random barn animals

00:43:41.740 that are running around

00:43:42.920 and they throw them into a meat grinder

00:43:44.380 and whatever happens, happens.

00:43:45.840 And that's the whole point of it, right?

00:43:49.640 That's the whole fun of it.

00:43:50.860 But it's meat.

00:43:52.320 It's mystery meat,

00:43:53.200 but it's still meat.

00:43:54.700 And there's just no,

00:43:55.940 you don't get that with vegan.

00:43:57.600 There's no such thing as a vegan hot dog.

00:44:01.060 Like, that's not a hot dog,

00:44:02.240 that's a carrot.

00:44:03.640 Okay, that's a carrot on a bun

00:44:05.240 is not a hot dog.

00:44:07.980 So they're appropriating our culture 0.93

00:44:09.800 and to think that

00:44:11.120 Joey Chestnut, of all people,

00:44:12.940 would be a part of this conspiracy.

00:44:18.280 It's outrageous.

00:44:19.180 And frankly, it's demoralizing

00:44:20.700 to somebody like me.

00:44:21.680 You know, as someone who,

00:44:23.360 I like to think I,

00:44:25.380 one of the people leading

00:44:26.980 the war against vegans.

00:44:29.620 I've been an anti-vegan bigot

00:44:31.680 for so long.

00:44:33.620 It's one of the most important issues to me.

00:44:35.800 I've always considered,

00:44:36.580 I always thought that,

00:44:37.380 I don't know him personally,

00:44:38.400 but I've always considered him

00:44:40.360 to be a compatriot in this fight.

00:44:42.940 And to see him go to the dark side

00:44:47.620 like this is just

00:44:49.680 really disappointing.

00:44:52.300 Pretty terrible stuff.

00:44:53.920 Are you still struggling

00:44:54.540 with back taxes or unfiled returns?

00:44:56.360 This year, the IRS is escalating collections

00:44:57.900 by adding 20,000 new agents

00:44:59.880 and sending millions of demand letters.

00:45:02.700 Now the tax season is over,

00:45:03.740 collection season has begun.

00:45:05.640 Handling this alone can be a huge mistake,

00:45:07.660 cost you thousands of dollars.

00:46:04.160 I can imagine some of you are asking yourself,

00:46:07.920 that other men idolize.

00:46:09.680 What do you know about shaving?

00:46:10.880 Well, even a bearded legend like myself

00:46:25.300 The blades, well, they're sharper and longer lasting.

00:46:27.960 Another part that I really enjoy,

00:46:46.220 delivering a superior shave.

00:46:53.980 Now let's get to our daily cancellation.

00:46:55.700 This week, a woman named Lily Gaddis went viral 1.00

00:47:05.000 on multiple social media platforms,

00:47:07.160 primarily TikTok and Twitter.

00:47:08.640 What launched her into internet superstardom

00:47:10.560 was a video where she stood in her kitchen

00:47:13.320 wearing an apron and saying very naughty words.

00:47:17.180 Here it is.

00:47:17.660 Okay, this time I have a beef with the male community. 0.93

00:47:21.920 I give my criticisms to all

00:47:23.780 because we are all about equity and inclusion here, right?

00:47:26.660 So I'm sick and tired of all girls getting blamed

00:47:30.920 or like guys, certain guys,

00:47:33.340 thinking that all girls are gold diggers.

00:47:36.660 I don't know if it's because you get your information

00:47:39.600 from those street interviews in like Miami

00:47:42.060 at 3 a.m. outside of a nightclub. 1.00

00:47:45.100 You're getting the opinion of some dumb whores 1.00

00:47:47.300 and immigrants fresh off the boat 1.00

00:47:52.040 looking for a green card.

00:47:53.660 Yes, they are probably gold diggers,

00:47:55.760 but that's the exception.

00:47:57.680 I'm the rule.

00:47:59.420 Everybody I know who's married right now, 1.00

00:48:01.580 they're married to broke ass n****s. 1.00

00:48:04.640 And they don't care. 1.00

00:48:07.700 We don't give a f*** about your money. 0.98

00:48:09.660 I couldn't care less about your f***ing money, okay? 0.98

00:48:12.720 My type is broke mechanics and surfer hippie dudes 0.99

00:48:17.060 who just want to live in a shack and surf and have babies.

00:48:20.500 All I ask of a man is that you're competent, 1.00

00:48:24.160 you're not a f***er. 0.97

00:48:27.820 If somebody broke into our house at 3 a.m., 1.00

00:48:30.200 you would know how to grab a gun and shoot them. 0.99

00:48:34.760 That's pretty much all we ask. 0.99

00:48:36.900 That's pretty much all girls I know.

00:48:40.200 I don't know one girl who's a gold digger. 0.99

00:48:42.060 So stop throwing us all under the bus

00:48:44.760 as if we're all gold diggers 0.99

00:48:45.960 because we don't give a f***. 0.98

00:48:47.180 I don't give a f*** about your money. 0.98

00:48:49.340 So there were several naughty words in that monologue, 0.97

00:48:54.600 but the one that got all the attention

00:48:55.620 was, of course, the N-word.

00:48:57.480 She referred to men who are, as she put it,

00:48:59.820 in a term first coined by Shakespeare, I believe, 0.98

00:49:02.240 broke ass N-words. 0.92

00:49:04.180 And that was enough to provoke mass outrage 0.99

00:49:06.060 and breathless accusations of racism.

00:49:08.280 Many headlines were published in the media

00:49:09.640 about this random woman who used this jokey term 1.00

00:49:12.280 in an obviously non-racial context.

00:49:14.740 Didn't take long before she was apparently fired 1.00

00:49:16.380 by the home health care company

00:49:17.480 that had previously employed her.

00:49:19.560 And Lilly, to her credit,

00:49:21.040 has been quite unapologetic in the aftermath,

00:49:23.120 which has only made the outrage mob

00:49:24.740 even more outraged at her, as this usually goes.

00:49:27.040 But that was not the end of the story.

00:49:29.160 Lilly then began doing the right-wing media tour.

00:49:31.600 She was interviewed on various conservative podcasts,

00:49:34.140 at least three in a couple of days

00:49:35.380 from what I've seen, probably more.

00:49:37.340 But on Twitter, among some conservatives,

00:49:40.520 she was embraced as a hero.

00:49:42.820 She was quickly accepted

00:49:43.800 as the hot new conservative influencer

00:49:45.820 on the social media market.

00:49:47.780 In fact, she even tweeted that the outrage

00:49:49.160 had helped to launch her career in conservative media.

00:49:52.660 The tweet was, you know, I'm assuming tongue-in-cheek,

00:49:54.700 but there was also truth in it.

00:49:56.340 The fact is that she is being treated

00:49:57.960 like a conservative media star

00:49:59.660 because of that video that you just saw.

00:50:02.720 Though not by everybody on the right.

00:50:04.060 Now, if you click on her name

00:50:05.480 among the trending topics on Twitter,

00:50:07.400 you'll find a certain segment of the online right

00:50:09.640 that has rejected her on the grounds

00:50:11.200 that she is a PSYOP.

00:50:12.980 And for some of those people,

00:50:14.860 another subset of those people,

00:50:18.420 the evidence that she's a PSYOP 0.98

00:50:19.880 is that she's Jewish,

00:50:21.200 even though she isn't Jewish, apparently.

00:50:23.960 But this is the level of discourse

00:50:25.180 surrounding this young woman,

00:50:26.920 discourse that, by all appearances,

00:50:29.720 she seems to be enjoying and encouraging.

00:50:32.480 Now, back over on the left,

00:50:34.120 this story has become another excuse

00:50:36.020 for left-wing mediologists

00:50:36.880 to complain about trad wives.

00:50:39.140 Many headlines have labeled Lily Gatt

00:50:40.820 as a trad wife.

00:50:42.860 There's this one in the Daily Beast.

00:50:44.600 Trad wife TikToker axed from job 1.00

00:50:46.760 after casually saying N-word.

00:50:49.180 And then the independent trad wife 0.86

00:50:50.580 TikTok influencer fired over N-word,

00:50:52.820 did a soul search,

00:50:53.680 and couldn't care less about the backlash.

00:50:56.180 The Daily Mail, quote,

00:50:57.540 white trad wife's African-American boss 1.00

00:50:59.960 breaks her silence after influencer

00:51:01.840 was fired for casually saying N-word

00:51:03.420 while filming cooking video.

00:51:05.440 You get the idea.

00:51:06.880 So let me make a few points about this.

00:51:09.160 First of all,

00:51:10.840 this woman is not a trad wife. 0.69

00:51:12.820 The very phrase trad wife's boss 0.98

00:51:15.800 is a contradiction in terms.

00:51:18.920 A headline that declares,

00:51:20.260 trad wife fired from job 0.98

00:51:22.120 should be treated with skepticism

00:51:24.620 right out of the gate.

00:51:25.480 Because trad wives, 1.00

00:51:26.520 if they are indeed trad,

00:51:27.740 that is to say traditional,

00:51:29.080 don't have jobs to get fired from.

00:51:32.240 We seem to have reached a point

00:51:33.660 in our culture where

00:51:36.200 any young, attractive woman

00:51:38.840 with right-of-center politics

00:51:40.400 who makes a TikTok video in an apron

00:51:42.840 is automatically a trad wife.

00:51:46.340 That's all it takes now

00:51:47.400 to be a trad wife.

00:51:49.400 But that's not really the case.

00:51:50.660 Now, I have no use for the term personally,

00:51:53.220 but if the term means anything,

00:51:55.360 that cannot be the definition.

00:51:56.880 Okay, actual trad wives

00:51:59.780 are homemakers

00:52:00.980 and stay-at-home moms

00:52:02.160 who are focused primarily

00:52:03.320 on caring for their families.

00:52:05.740 Actual trad wives 1.00

00:52:06.840 are not trying to be TikTok influencers.

00:52:10.000 Okay, any woman

00:52:11.100 who wants to be a TikTok influencer

00:52:12.880 is by definition

00:52:14.020 not a traditional wife.

00:52:17.160 Also, for the record,

00:52:18.760 traditional wives,

00:52:19.680 along with not having TikTok accounts,

00:52:21.740 also don't use vulgar language,

00:52:23.540 especially in public.

00:52:24.960 Lily drops four or five F-bombs 0.60

00:52:26.560 in a 90-second video.

00:52:28.320 That's not how traditional

00:52:29.480 conservative women speak. 0.94

00:52:31.980 In fact, most real trad wives 0.99

00:52:33.340 have never even heard

00:52:34.240 the term trad wife

00:52:35.360 and are not familiar

00:52:36.600 with the discourse around it

00:52:37.860 because they're busy

00:52:38.560 actually taking care of their families,

00:52:40.220 not following social media trends.

00:52:42.820 So, based on everything

00:52:43.920 that we've seen from this woman,

00:52:45.980 no matter what else

00:52:46.680 you might say about her,

00:52:48.240 she is not by any stretch

00:52:49.400 of the imagination traditional

00:52:50.700 and therefore not a trad wife.

00:52:54.260 Second point here,

00:52:56.880 just because somebody manages

00:52:59.080 to make a video

00:53:00.120 that upsets the left,

00:53:02.640 that doesn't mean

00:53:04.220 that they should be embraced

00:53:05.360 as a hero of the right

00:53:06.940 or as a conservative influencer.

00:53:09.880 Okay, I have been saying this

00:53:11.480 for years to no avail,

00:53:13.720 but I'll continue to say it,

00:53:15.660 that that's not the way

00:53:16.840 that it should work.

00:53:17.560 No, I have no problem with Lily.

00:53:19.080 I, you know,

00:53:20.080 I don't think the mass outrage

00:53:21.260 against her is at all warranted.

00:53:24.160 I'm sure she's a perfectly nice person.

00:53:26.420 I have no issue with her.

00:53:27.760 But I'm also not looking to her

00:53:29.360 for moral or political leadership.

00:53:32.000 You know, we use the word influence.

00:53:33.300 Like, I'm not influenced

00:53:34.480 by her in any way.

00:53:35.700 Are you?

00:53:37.160 When you see a video like that,

00:53:38.440 you never heard of this person before

00:53:39.400 and you see that video

00:53:40.300 that we just played,

00:53:41.580 are you saying to yourself,

00:53:43.360 oh, I got to hear

00:53:43.820 what other insights this person has.

00:53:45.480 This is a leader.

00:53:46.420 This is someone I want to follow, right?

00:53:49.280 This is someone who's influenced.

00:53:50.640 I want my life to be influenced

00:53:52.360 by this person.

00:53:54.460 Is anyone saying that?

00:53:57.380 I'm not turning to her for insights

00:53:58.980 and I haven't heard her say anything

00:54:00.820 that would qualify as an insight.

00:54:03.100 And for a very long time now,

00:54:04.360 the right has been in the habit

00:54:05.340 of trying to make a star out of anyone,

00:54:07.780 especially any minority

00:54:08.940 or any attractive woman

00:54:10.140 who manages to attract

00:54:12.320 negative attention from the left.

00:54:13.840 But the problem is

00:54:14.540 that it's very easy

00:54:15.960 to attract negative attention

00:54:17.340 from the left.

00:54:18.400 These people who get upset

00:54:20.900 if you say something like,

00:54:23.060 men can't have babies. 0.99

00:54:24.540 So the bar for provoking

00:54:25.980 left-wing outrage

00:54:26.920 is like buried 500 feet

00:54:29.940 under the surface of the earth.

00:54:32.180 You don't have to lift your feet

00:54:33.740 to get over it.

00:54:35.300 Which means that a person's ability

00:54:36.940 to upset the left

00:54:38.080 does not indicate

00:54:39.200 that they have any of the qualities

00:54:41.100 that we should want

00:54:41.960 the leaders of our movement

00:54:43.140 to possess.

00:54:43.840 And this should be obvious.

00:54:46.880 I think it is

00:54:47.780 to intelligent people.

00:54:50.100 Third point, finally,

00:54:52.160 I must say again,

00:54:54.780 the N-word is a word.

00:54:56.760 It is not a magical spell.

00:54:59.240 It is a word.

00:55:00.280 It is made up of vowels

00:55:01.220 and consonants.

00:55:02.700 It's a vulgar word, yes,

00:55:04.500 which means that it's impolite

00:55:05.980 to say it in public.

00:55:07.320 And she also used several other words

00:55:09.440 that are impolite

00:55:10.280 to say in public.

00:55:11.060 It's not any more impolite

00:55:13.280 than any other vulgarity.

00:55:14.560 And just like any other word,

00:55:16.780 because it is, again,

00:55:17.820 just a word,

00:55:19.260 the precise meaning

00:55:20.480 depends on the context

00:55:22.540 and the intent

00:55:23.500 of the person using the word.

00:55:25.780 So we're supposed to believe

00:55:26.700 that the N-word,

00:55:27.580 when used by a person

00:55:28.300 with lighter skin pigmentation,

00:55:29.580 is always maximally offensive

00:55:32.120 regardless of the context

00:55:34.560 or the intent.

00:55:35.220 But that is absurd.

00:55:36.280 It's nonsensical.

00:55:36.900 It's incoherent.

00:55:37.520 It would mean that certain rules

00:55:40.700 apply to this word

00:55:41.700 which do not apply

00:55:42.600 to any other word

00:55:43.660 that exists in the English language

00:55:45.120 or any other language

00:55:46.360 on earth.

00:55:48.480 But that's not true

00:55:49.360 because the N-word

00:55:50.040 is, once again,

00:55:51.880 a word.

00:55:53.820 Saying that the N-word

00:55:54.660 is always racist

00:55:55.560 no matter how it is said

00:55:57.020 or for what purpose,

00:55:58.740 it's like saying

00:55:59.560 that the word kill

00:56:00.760 is always a threat

00:56:03.280 no matter how it's said

00:56:05.860 or for what purpose.

00:56:08.420 It doesn't make any sense.

00:56:09.680 The word kill

00:56:10.580 can be a threat.

00:56:11.600 If I say 1.00

00:56:12.060 I'm going to kill you 1.00

00:56:13.640 then I have 1.00

00:56:15.280 made a threat

00:56:16.200 and the operative word

00:56:17.620 in that threat 0.95

00:56:18.280 is kill. 0.99

00:56:19.480 That's what I'm going to do. 1.00

00:56:20.360 I'm going to kill you. 1.00

00:56:21.900 But if I say 1.00

00:56:22.660 Bob said he's going to kill you

00:56:25.000 then I haven't made a threat.

00:56:28.300 In fact,

00:56:28.680 I am warning you

00:56:29.860 about what Bob

00:56:30.800 is going to do.

00:56:32.280 So it wouldn't make any sense

00:56:33.240 to say

00:56:33.540 you threatened me

00:56:34.420 and then I say

00:56:34.780 no I didn't.

00:56:35.220 Well you said the word kill.

00:56:36.800 Well yeah,

00:56:37.220 but I'm telling you

00:56:37.800 what someone else

00:56:38.380 is going to do.

00:56:39.480 I didn't say

00:56:39.820 I'm going to do it.

00:56:41.820 And so it is

00:56:42.680 with the N-word.

00:56:43.960 If I say it

00:56:44.760 in the context

00:56:45.260 of expressing

00:56:45.860 racial animosity 0.72

00:56:46.880 towards black people 0.98

00:56:47.740 then obviously 0.99

00:56:48.280 it's racist.

00:56:49.600 But if I say it

00:56:50.420 in the context

00:56:50.840 of quoting

00:56:51.900 somebody else

00:56:52.540 who said it

00:56:53.000 or in the context

00:56:54.040 of referring

00:56:55.120 to the word

00:56:55.880 for a discussion

00:56:56.540 like this one

00:56:57.160 then it's obviously

00:56:58.640 not racist.

00:57:00.080 And if somebody

00:57:00.600 says it

00:57:00.980 in the way

00:57:01.380 that Lily Gaddis

00:57:02.240 did

00:57:02.480 as a vulgar

00:57:03.320 colloquial

00:57:04.000 non-racial way

00:57:05.080 of referring

00:57:05.520 to people

00:57:06.160 in general

00:57:06.780 then it is

00:57:08.060 obviously not racist.

00:57:09.260 It can't be racist

00:57:10.140 because it's not even

00:57:11.040 referring to any

00:57:11.800 specific racial group.

00:57:13.260 It's not possible

00:57:14.360 to be racist

00:57:15.040 against all races 0.95

00:57:16.140 at once.

00:57:18.560 It's not possible

00:57:19.600 to be non-racially racist.

00:57:22.520 You can only be racist

00:57:23.660 if you mean

00:57:24.240 to express animosity

00:57:25.320 towards a certain group.

00:57:26.660 If you don't mean that

00:57:27.780 then you can't be racist.

00:57:29.520 You can be other things

00:57:30.580 you can be vulgar 1.00

00:57:31.340 you can be ridiculous 1.00

00:57:32.140 you can be cringy 1.00

00:57:33.000 but you're not racist.

00:57:35.500 Lily Gaddis

00:57:36.000 isn't racist.

00:57:37.580 She also isn't

00:57:38.300 a conservative influencer

00:57:39.360 or right-wing hero

00:57:40.300 and she certainly

00:57:41.040 is not a trad wife.

00:57:42.740 She's just a woman 1.00

00:57:43.700 who made a video

00:57:44.480 and that's about it.

00:57:47.480 Anyone trying

00:57:48.240 to make more of it

00:57:49.040 than that

00:57:49.480 is today

00:57:50.600 canceled.

00:57:52.900 That'll do it

00:57:53.200 for the show today.

00:57:53.680 Thanks for watching.
