Summary

Many corporations and universities that are usually eager to speak up about current events and condemn violence have said nothing about the attempted assassination of a leading presidential candidate. Their silence speaks volumes. Also, California passes a law empowering schools to conceal a child s quote-unquote gender identity from their parents, Joe Biden speaks to the NAACP, and it doesn t go well. Supreme Court term limits could be on the horizon, and the head of the largest teachers union in the country gives a speech that is equal parts unhinged and meaningless. All that and more on the Matt Walsh Show.

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Walsh Show, many of the corporations and universities that are usually
00:00:03.460 eager to speak up about current events and condemn violence have said nothing at all
00:00:07.720 about the attempted assassination of the leading presidential candidate.
00:00:11.140 Their silence speaks volumes.
00:00:12.960 Also, California passes a law empowering schools to conceal a child's quote-unquote
00:00:16.820 gender identity from their parents.
00:00:19.160 Joe Biden speaks to the NAACP, and it doesn't go well, of course.
00:00:22.820 Supreme Court term limits could be on the horizon.
00:00:25.160 I'll explain why that's a terrible idea.
00:00:26.780 And the head of the largest teachers union in the country gives a speech equal parts
00:00:30.500 unhinged and meaningless.
00:00:32.120 All of that and more today on the Matt Walsh Show.
00:00:56.780 Saudi Arabia recently ended its 50-year petrodollar deal with the U.S., which has the potential
00:01:05.000 to weaken the U.S. dollar.
00:01:06.160 Since 1974, Saudi Arabia has sold oil solely in U.S. dollars, which was huge for our global
00:01:11.180 economic dominance.
00:01:12.520 Now they want other options.
00:01:13.800 If there's less demand for the U.S. dollar, what happens to its value?
00:01:17.380 It's for reasons like this that I feel it's important to diversify some of your savings
00:01:20.580 into gold.
00:01:21.280 And you can do that with the help of Birch Gold.
00:01:23.320 Right now, qualifying purchases by July 31st are eligible to get a one-of-a-kind limited
00:01:28.460 edition golden truth bomb.
00:01:30.480 The only way to claim your eligibility is by texting Walsh to 989898.
00:01:35.200 Protect your savings by diversifying away from the U.S. dollar with gold.
00:01:38.620 Text Walsh to 989898, and Birch Gold will help you convert an old IRA or 401k into an IRA
00:01:43.940 in gold for no money out of pocket.
00:01:46.340 Right now, qualifying purchases will get a limited edition golden truth bomb.
00:01:49.740 Text Walsh to 989898.
00:01:51.640 That's Walsh to 989898 today.
00:01:55.000 When authorities arrested the man who shot and nearly killed Ronald Reagan in March of
00:01:58.840 1981, he asked them a question.
00:02:01.140 He wanted to know whether the Academy Awards, which were scheduled to take place that same
00:02:05.100 evening, would be delayed.
00:02:06.420 And ultimately, the answer was yes.
00:02:07.660 The Academy Awards were postponed for 24 hours.
00:02:10.500 Gregory Peck said the assassination attempt brought to mind the murders of the Kennedys,
00:02:14.300 John Lennon, and Martin Luther King.
00:02:16.120 The producer of the awards called the shooting a tragedy.
00:02:18.280 Meanwhile, at the NCAA championship basketball game, 18,000 fans in Philadelphia held a moment
00:02:23.240 of silence.
00:02:24.480 And when Reagan joked to his doctors, I hope you're all Republicans, his doctor, a liberal,
00:02:29.060 famously responded, today we are all Republicans.
00:02:32.720 The 43 years after the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump was nearly killed
00:02:38.660 on live television.
00:02:40.220 And in the aftermath, as you probably noticed, there has not really been any similar moment
00:02:45.420 of national unity.
00:02:48.180 Entertainment venues aren't canceling events or holding moments of silence.
00:02:53.040 Doing the opposite, in fact.
00:02:54.440 A member of the gimmick rock band Tenacious D just told a crowd that he wished the assassin
00:02:58.380 had killed the former president.
00:03:00.080 You've probably seen that video.
00:03:01.000 We played it yesterday.
00:03:02.560 The New York Times published a full-page spread claiming that Trump had betrayed America.
00:03:07.160 CNN and ABC criticized Donald Trump for using the word fight just moments after he was shot.
00:03:12.040 Kara Swisher made jokes about the assassination attempts on their podcast.
00:03:17.560 Listen.
00:03:18.800 So to speak.
00:03:19.500 Yeah, it wasn't staged.
00:03:21.440 There's ridiculous theories on both sides, the worst on the right, but I don't know if
00:03:24.740 you heard, but right before Melania gave her public statement, she was heard yelling
00:03:29.480 into a phone, you had one job.
00:03:32.540 Too soon?
00:03:33.880 Too soon?
00:03:34.700 I like a joke.
00:03:35.380 My favorite joke was from someone where they said, let's hope it's not a time traveler
00:03:40.340 from the future who can't shoot.
00:03:42.600 It was something like that.
00:03:43.520 Anyway.
00:03:44.100 Oh, no.
00:03:44.720 The truth is, I mean, probably the most likely conspiracy theory is the Democratic Party
00:03:50.420 ordered a hit, but they used Timu for it.
00:03:53.060 They used Timu.
00:03:54.240 Oh.
00:03:56.180 All right.
00:03:56.780 We'll stop with the jokes.
00:03:57.480 You don't have this reaction to the presidential frontrunner nearly dying on national television
00:04:03.160 just three days earlier, unless you're fine with it happening.
00:04:06.940 There's no other explanation for it.
00:04:09.220 Any normal, well-adjusted person who doesn't wish death on their political enemies, anyone
00:04:13.720 who cares about the democratic system of government, is still shaken by what happened on Saturday.
00:04:20.280 But not Kara Swisher.
00:04:21.720 And they're not alone.
00:04:22.260 While a handful of tech CEOs from Apple to Amazon to Google did post condemnations of political
00:04:27.420 violence, for the most part, from left-wing corners of society, there's been an outpouring
00:04:32.480 of ambivalence or outright disdain, not sympathy for the former president in the wake of the
00:04:37.920 assassination attempt.
00:04:39.920 And there are a few different ways you can explain this disparity, this major shift from
00:04:44.340 the 1980s to today.
00:04:46.480 How did we go from a country that came together across the political spectrum to mourn this
00:04:51.440 kind of violence, regardless of politics, to a country where, in some corners, they don't
00:04:58.220 really care about it, or even endorse it?
00:05:00.860 That's an important question.
00:05:02.340 And a simple explanation, the one you'll often hear, is to say that we're living in a much
00:05:06.600 more polarized political climate these days.
00:05:09.300 We're supposed to accept the idea that violence has simply become normalized, and because it's
00:05:14.820 so polarized, that's kind of the stock explanation you hear all the time.
00:05:17.920 But it's not especially compelling because it overlooks the extent to which leftists,
00:05:22.080 more than conservatives, accept and embrace political violence, even while pretending to
00:05:26.600 condemn it categorically.
00:05:28.740 Consider who's been committing most acts of political violence over the past few years.
00:05:31.800 It's not conservatives.
00:05:32.640 It was BLM that torched cities and used car lots and churches and pharmacies, attacked
00:05:37.340 secret service agents in the summer of 2020.
00:05:39.480 When Trump was inaugurated, leftists vandalized cars and businesses in the area.
00:05:43.040 A Bernie Sanders supporter shot up a congressional baseball game practice, nearly killing Steve
00:05:48.260 Scalise.
00:05:49.400 It was a leftist who attacked the Family Research Council, supposedly because it was falsely
00:05:53.260 classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
00:05:56.700 The one major recent example we always hear of, suppose, right-wing violence is the protest
00:06:04.200 on January 6th, which can only be understood in the context of the eight months of nationwide
00:06:08.500 rioting perpetrated by leftists and endorsed by the Democrats that preceded it.
00:06:12.100 And of course, the only person killed on that day, January 6th, as you know, was a right
00:06:17.120 winger.
00:06:18.560 Additionally, on social media right now, you'll find many examples of leftists openly celebrating
00:06:23.200 the attempted assassination on Trump.
00:06:25.660 It's kind of striking how comfortable many of these people are talking so nonchalantly
00:06:29.860 about the attempted murder of a former president.
00:06:33.100 It's a window into what leftist discourse in places like San Francisco or Portland must
00:06:39.520 be like.
00:06:40.020 Hatred for conservatives is so normalized, so commonplace, that they don't think twice
00:06:45.180 about saying something that any normal person would consider objectively insane, something
00:06:49.820 that would have obvious professional ramifications in most of the country, especially if a conservative
00:06:53.700 said it.
00:06:54.780 So it doesn't seem like we can just wave our hands and say polarization is the issue.
00:07:00.720 What we're seeing is something closer to dehumanization.
00:07:03.580 Many Americans have been indoctrinated into believing that their political opponents aren't human,
00:07:09.900 basically, and don't deserve to live.
00:07:12.500 The other explanation you might hear is that Donald Trump is supposedly a uniquely bad guy.
00:07:17.400 He's going to end democracy with Project 2025 and so forth.
00:07:20.660 But this is not a satisfying explanation either for a couple of reasons.
00:07:24.720 Obviously, the premise is hysterical nonsense.
00:07:27.200 It's completely false.
00:07:28.920 Project 2025 is the Russian collusion of the 2024 election.
00:07:32.260 But even if you accept for the sake of argument the false premise that Donald Trump is this
00:07:37.240 horrible dude, the logic still wouldn't make any sense.
00:07:40.740 Four years ago, pretty much every Fortune 500 company and government agency and university
00:07:45.420 in this country mourned the death of a horrible human being by the name of George Floyd.
00:07:49.680 Pretty much every single LLC and nonprofit in the universe came out of the woodwork to make
00:07:53.780 that very clear.
00:07:55.040 Even the National Association of the Deaf recorded a video for BLM in sign language
00:07:59.300 lamenting, quote, black deaths at the hands of police officers.
00:08:03.700 Now, we play the footage, but there's no sound for obvious reasons.
00:08:06.020 In the non-deaf world, companies like Nike and Ben and Jerry's got involved also.
00:08:12.680 The national funeral, as you remember, went on for months and cost billions of dollars.
00:08:17.200 Watch.
00:08:17.440 In Nike's new ad, the shoemaker is using its Just Do It brand to say what not to do.
00:08:26.020 Don't turn your back on racism.
00:08:27.960 Don't accept innocent lives being taken from us.
00:08:30.980 It's a quarter after one.
00:08:33.140 Today, country music band Lady Antebellum changed its name to Lady A, saying it recognizes
00:08:38.940 the dark history behind the name and didn't take into account its connection to slavery.
00:08:43.580 They're examples of a cultural shift and racial sensitivities after more than two weeks of
00:08:51.860 mass protests.
00:08:53.220 From Ben and Jerry's to Band-Aid, so far companies have pledged more than $1.7 billion to advance
00:08:59.780 racial justice.
00:09:01.360 Now, these same companies have not pledged a billion dollars towards ending political
00:09:07.040 violence after Donald Trump was almost assassinated.
00:09:09.480 In fact, most of them have not issued any statements of any kind.
00:09:14.360 They haven't changed their Instagram profile pictures.
00:09:17.040 They haven't put out any PSAs.
00:09:19.300 They haven't said anything.
00:09:21.780 And it's not like these companies are in the habit of ignoring current events.
00:09:25.420 Usually, as we've seen, they are quite vocal about it.
00:09:28.420 Now we have one of the most historic current events that any of us will live through in our
00:09:32.680 lives, and we get silence in response.
00:09:35.780 Same goes for the major universities in this country.
00:09:39.360 As Chris Ruffo pointed out yesterday, quote, elite universities published an endless number
00:09:44.240 of statements on Black Lives Matter, climate change, Me Too, stop Asian hate, Ukraine, Hamas,
00:09:49.460 but couldn't be bothered about the attempted assassination of an American president.
00:09:53.740 And that's true.
00:09:54.500 Universities that have become de facto political action committees are suddenly silent when the
00:09:59.000 most serious political assassination attempt of the century takes place on live television.
00:10:04.220 Now, for example, here was Harvard's statement in June of 2020, just for comparison.
00:10:09.760 Quote,
00:10:10.680 The Harvard community is deeply distressed by the killing of George Floyd, rather the killings
00:10:15.240 of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and many more Black Americans at the hands
00:10:19.400 of those who have promised to protect communities and uphold the rule of law.
00:10:22.940 Black Lives Matter.
00:10:24.060 We must use this moment to confront and remedy racial injustice.
00:10:27.960 Now, to be clear, these are deaths that had absolutely nothing to do with Harvard's campus.
00:10:31.820 None of these people died anywhere near the school.
00:10:35.320 And Tony McDade apparently stabbed a guy to death and pointed a gun at a cop before getting
00:10:39.380 shot.
00:10:40.440 It's all on body camera, but Harvard decided that Tony McDade was a martyr because Tony
00:10:44.320 McDade identified as a transgender man.
00:10:48.240 And apparently, some news reports accurately describe McDade's gender, which bothered the faculty
00:10:51.860 at Harvard even more.
00:10:53.680 So Harvard's more distressed by the so-called misgendering of a murderer than they are about
00:10:58.100 the attempted murder of the leading presidential candidate and a former president.
00:11:02.320 Not to be outdone, back in 2020, Yale's Women and Gender Studies Department declared that
00:11:06.440 they stand in solidarity with the protests against the murder of George Floyd and against
00:11:10.860 state-sanctioned racism and racist police and civilian violence.
00:11:14.480 They warned that police violence against people of color, and especially Black people, is a
00:11:18.240 systemic foundational condition of the United States.
00:11:21.180 Foundational, but non-essential.
00:11:22.820 Now, the Yale Women and Gender Studies Department, it will not surprise you to learn, has not
00:11:28.400 put out a similar statement post-Trump assassination attempt.
00:11:32.660 Berkeley is also apparently unbothered by the Trump shooting.
00:11:36.060 That's a little conspicuous since Berkeley put out multiple statements about George Floyd.
00:11:39.620 In fact, in his statement announcing the murder of a Berkeley student named Seth Smith, Berkeley's
00:11:45.260 chancellor still ended up talking about George Floyd even in that context.
00:11:48.640 That's how large George Floyd loomed on campus at the time.
00:11:51.200 He was bigger than the deaths of actual students at Berkeley.
00:11:55.060 Quote,
00:11:56.460 Many of you may have had a close relationship with Seth and are feeling a sense of loss and
00:12:00.640 disbelief.
00:12:01.160 Others, like many of us, are experiencing stress, grief, and anxiety related to the coronavirus
00:12:04.300 pandemic and the recent murders of George Floyd, Rhea Milton, and other Black Americans.
00:12:09.920 The chancellor actually wrote that as part of an email announcing a student's death to
00:12:13.560 the campus.
00:12:14.200 So Berkeley clearly sees enormous societal significance in the death of a drug addict 2,000 miles
00:12:19.620 away, but they're not so concerned about the attempted murder of the leading presidential
00:12:23.280 frontrunner and, again, former president.
00:12:26.140 Now, I could go on listing pretty much every university and Fortune 500 company on the planet,
00:12:30.280 but honestly, we don't have time for that.
00:12:32.200 You get the point.
00:12:33.420 And the point is that all of these institutions either don't care about the attempted assassination
00:12:37.360 of Donald Trump or they endorse it.
00:12:39.020 And it would be a mistake to conclude that federal government agencies like the Secret
00:12:43.560 Service are immune from this trend.
00:12:46.180 If the Secret Service is ambivalent at best about Donald Trump's safety, then that would
00:12:50.400 explain why they didn't have that rooftop covered less than 150 yards away.
00:12:54.360 That would explain why no one's resigned or been fired.
00:12:57.060 It explains why the Secret Service director made up some ridiculous excuse about how the
00:13:00.100 roof was too slanted for snipers to sit on or whatever.
00:13:03.620 It would also explain why in the latest breaking news that I just saw from the Daily Mail,
00:13:06.780 by the way, they're now saying that this guy was on the radar, this guy was on Secret
00:13:11.880 Service radar, the shooter was, three hours, three hours before the shooting happened.
00:13:21.120 And yet, with three hours to act, they did not act.
00:13:26.300 And then Donald Trump was nearly killed.
00:13:28.040 They're promoting the same unhinged rhetoric that they were before on the left.
00:13:31.080 Here, for example, was Joe Biden yesterday in a speech to the NAACP stammering through a
00:13:36.080 claim that Donald Trump wanted to send the National Guard after peaceful BLM protesters.
00:13:41.580 This, again, is yesterday, post-assassination attempt.
00:13:44.460 This is what he's saying.
00:13:46.100 Of course, ignoring all the violence and rioting and arson that was going on at the time.
00:13:49.720 Watch.
00:13:50.000 The pandemic was especially devastating to black communities.
00:13:54.560 Oh, I know.
00:13:57.120 And other countries, other communities of color.
00:14:00.240 That economic crisis drove up black unemployment, decimated small black businesses.
00:14:05.480 And you peacefully protested George Floyd's murder.
00:14:08.440 Donald Trump called for the National Guard to go after you.
00:14:11.160 What in the hell is the matter with this man?
00:14:12.420 Well, I'm serious.
00:14:16.440 Go figure.
00:14:18.320 From a guy who spread the birth as a lie against Barack Obama, saying he wasn't born in America
00:14:23.260 and he wasn't a U.S. citizen.
00:14:25.280 So this is what's changed since the 1980s.
00:14:27.420 There's now a large influential segment of the population that endorses political violence
00:14:31.260 against their political opposition.
00:14:33.900 But for the most part, they won't admit it outright.
00:14:35.780 Instead, they're going to pretend that it's peaceful protest, as Joe Biden just did.
00:14:39.540 They're going to refuse to even mention what happened to Donald Trump, even as they mourn
00:14:43.820 their fallen foot soldiers.
00:14:45.700 This is now the norm in the country that once mourned Reagan across party lines, across the
00:14:50.980 whole country.
00:14:52.600 Now, the left might not acknowledge that that's what they're doing, but that's all the more
00:14:56.940 reason that we should call it out and prepare accordingly.
00:15:00.760 Now let's get to our five headlines.
00:15:02.180 You know, going online without ExpressVPN, it's like leaving your kids with the nearest
00:15:11.360 stranger while you go to the restroom.
00:15:13.080 They're probably not a kidnapper or serial killer, but why would you ever take that risk?
00:15:17.440 Every time you connect to an unencrypted network in cafes, hotels, airports, etc., your online
00:15:22.040 data is not secure.
00:15:23.460 Any hacker on the same network can gain access and steal your personal data, passwords, bank
00:15:27.740 logins, credit card details, etc.
00:15:29.400 It doesn't take much technical knowledge to hack somebody.
00:15:32.120 All you need is some cheap hardware.
00:15:34.340 A smart 12-year-old could do it.
00:15:35.960 Hackers can make up to $1,000 per person selling personal information on the dark web.
00:15:40.520 ExpressVPN stops hackers from stealing your data by creating a secure encrypted tunnel between
00:15:45.720 your device and the internet.
00:15:47.940 Take a hacker with a supercomputer over a billion years to get past ExpressVPN's encryption.
00:15:52.620 Sounds complicated, but ExpressVPN is actually really easy to use.
00:15:55.740 I love ExpressVPN because all I got to do is connect by firing up the app and clicking
00:16:00.920 one button, and that's it.
00:16:01.860 Plus, it works on all my devices, including my phone, laptop, and tablet, so I can stay
00:16:05.720 secure when I'm on the go.
00:16:07.740 Secure your online data today by visiting expressvpn.com slash Walsh.
00:16:11.640 That's exprssvpn.com slash Walsh, and you can get three months free.

00:16:18.440 So I want to talk about this.
00:16:20.280 Probably won't spend a long time on it because I want to go into much greater detail about it
00:16:23.860 in a monologue probably tomorrow, but it's worth mentioning ahead of time anyway.
00:16:29.400 KCRA reports, quote, California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday signed a bill that prohibits
00:16:34.020 school districts from having policies that require parents to be notified if their child
00:16:37.700 identifies as transgender.
00:16:39.920 The passage of Assembly Bill 1955 comes after several school districts across the state put
00:16:44.320 parental notification policies in place.
00:16:46.580 Some of those policies have been challenged in court.
00:16:48.520 The law prevents districts from requiring staff to disclose a student's sexual orientation,
00:16:51.980 gender identity, or gender expression without the student's consent.
00:16:55.680 It sparked heated debate at the Capitol this year.
00:16:59.260 Assembly member Chris Ward, Democrat, said,
00:17:02.120 Politically motivated attacks on the rights, safety, and dignity of transgender, non-binary,
00:17:05.580 and other LGBTQ plus youth are on the rise nationwide, including in California.
00:17:10.400 That's just nonsense, by the way.
00:17:11.680 That's simply not true.
00:17:12.640 That's just made up.
00:17:14.460 Politically motivated attacks on, well, I'll put it this way.
00:17:19.660 But that's meant to imply that there's violence happening, politically motivated attacks.
00:17:28.320 And if you read it that way, which is how they want you to read it, it's completely false.
00:17:32.660 There has been no rise in physical attacks motivated by hate or politics on, quote, unquote,
00:17:41.560 the LGBTQ community, quote, unquote.
00:17:43.560 But, you know, they leave it vague enough that they say, well,
00:17:49.200 a politically motivated attack is just what I'm saying right now they would call a politically motivated attack.
00:17:54.040 Words, a point of view expressed is a politically motivated attack.
00:17:58.860 So that's how they get away with making claims like that.
00:18:00.940 Anyway, he says, while some school districts have adopted policies to forcibly out students,
00:18:05.960 the Safety Act ensures that discussions about gender identity remain a private matter within the family.
00:18:11.400 As a parent, I urge all parents to talk to their children, listen to them, and love them unconditionally for who they are.
00:18:17.800 Okay, but even if I agreed that loving my child for who they are means affirming whatever their so-called gender identity is,
00:18:24.140 which I don't agree, but if I did, how can I love them in that way if I don't know who they are, according to you?
00:18:31.300 I mean, according to your logic, if your child, right, if your daughter identifies as a boy,
00:18:40.200 then you have to love them by accepting that your daughter is a boy.
00:18:46.080 Okay, well, again, adopting your logic for just a second, how can that happen if the parent doesn't even know about that identification?
00:18:57.480 So how can you simultaneously tell parents to accept that their children are trans while also preventing them from knowing that their children identify as trans?
00:19:06.700 So this contradiction is by far not the most important problem with this law, but I do think it's worth mentioning.
00:19:11.980 Here's more from CBS in Sacramento. Listen to this.
00:19:16.940 This has been a hot topic, as we know. We've been reporting on it for months.
00:19:20.680 It's not just here, but across the state.
00:19:22.900 Rockland Unified, we know one of those local districts, facing legal action over their notification policy.
00:19:28.620 But those I talked to today say, despite the governor's signature, this fight is far from over.
00:19:35.740 It's a first-in-the-nation law.
00:19:37.640 The governor bans policies that require teachers to tell parents if their child asked to change their gender identification.
00:19:45.940 For months, LGBTQ rights advocates rallied outside board meetings, much like this one in Rockland, against the policy.
00:19:53.820 Well, I think with the governor signing AB 1955, it's actually going to just cause more confusion.
00:19:59.380 Confusion led to chaos at times between politicians.
00:20:02.700 I will do my best.
00:20:04.660 You're out of order. You're disparaging the House.
00:20:06.800 Sparking this heated exchange between parties debating the bill last month, Republican Assemblymember Bill Assaylee's microphone cut mid-sentence.
00:20:16.600 Okay, so we are here today because the proponents have said that school districts have passed dangerous parental notification policies.
00:20:25.320 Rockland Unified is one of at least six other districts in the state that tried passing similar policies.
00:20:31.480 Many met with legal challenges.
00:20:33.060 And while it's being praised as a way to protect LGBTQ students from so-called forced outings.
00:20:39.200 If parents aren't supportive of their children, then the children shouldn't have to tell the parents.
00:20:46.080 Now, we can just stop it there because that is insane.
00:20:49.500 I mean, I hope you all appreciate how insane that is.
00:20:52.160 I'm sure you do.
00:20:52.920 I'm sure you appreciate it.
00:20:54.040 Any parent certainly appreciates how insane that is.
00:20:58.420 Think about what that woman just said.
00:21:01.100 Right?
00:21:01.380 If the parents won't support a decision, then children shouldn't have to tell the parents about the decision.
00:21:11.280 That's what she said.
00:21:12.740 Nothing dangerous about that mentality, is there?
00:21:15.640 Hey, kids, if your parents don't approve of you doing something, just don't tell them.
00:21:20.500 Hey, kids, if your parents won't approve of what you're doing or saying, then that means you shouldn't tell them at all.
00:21:26.220 No, it doesn't mean don't do it.
00:21:27.860 It doesn't mean, you know, talk to your parents and figure out why they feel that way.
00:21:32.060 No, just keep it a secret in that case.
00:21:36.720 I mean, if you wanted to come up with a message that is the most likely to do the most harm to the most children,
00:21:42.180 I can't think of any message more effective towards that end.
00:21:47.900 So what's the point of this law?
00:21:49.240 It's obviously, first and foremost, designed to protect the indoctrinators in the school system,
00:21:54.640 protect the teachers from accountability,
00:21:56.520 because now they can indoctrinate children into gender ideology without having to worry that the parents will find out about it.
00:22:03.300 It's also yet another way to erect a boundary between the parent and the child.
00:22:08.180 Weaken and ultimately sever the bond between the child and parent,
00:22:12.420 you know, because when there are secrets that the child keeps from the parent,
00:22:17.600 secrets that are shared with other kids and even other adults,
00:22:21.580 but not the parent, that has the effect, the very much intended effect,
00:22:27.380 of essentially making the parent obsolete in the eyes of the child.
00:22:32.380 Right?
00:22:32.820 Because then the child says to himself that,
00:22:36.740 you know,
00:22:38.160 basically he goes to school and lives a whole different life.
00:22:44.220 I mean, a whole different identity
00:22:45.820 that the parents don't even know about.
00:22:48.660 And so the parents are, they're not even relevant.
00:22:50.720 They're not relevant to what he considers his real life to be.
00:22:54.800 And worse than obsolete, the parent in that case is an outsider, a threat,
00:22:58.960 someone to hide from and guard yourself against.
00:23:03.280 I mean, think about,
00:23:05.420 it's every, every part of this thing is so insidious.
00:23:12.440 But let's just start with the name,
00:23:15.200 the name of this law.
00:23:18.020 Safety Act.
00:23:19.100 Okay, when you hear,
00:23:21.580 and there's been,
00:23:22.060 there have been plenty of laws,
00:23:23.620 federal, state,
00:23:25.460 that have the word safety in them, right?
00:23:28.360 Whether they have anything to do with safety or not,
00:23:30.320 it's just one of those things.
00:23:31.280 You hear that and you think,
00:23:32.000 well, safety is good.
00:23:33.080 We want safety.
00:23:35.460 But think about what they're applying it to in this case.
00:23:39.120 Safety.
00:23:39.440 So we're doing this for the safety of the child.
00:23:45.700 Well, so who is threatening the child's safety in this case?
00:23:51.540 The parent.
00:23:54.060 We're telling the kids,
00:23:55.260 for your own safety,
00:23:57.720 don't tell your parents.
00:23:58.960 your parents are a threat to you.
00:24:04.440 That is the message from,
00:24:07.840 coming straight down from the governor's office now to these kids.
00:24:11.080 It is,
00:24:13.260 it is pure evil.
00:24:16.480 And it's the kind of thing that,
00:24:18.860 we have to keep it ever present in our mind that,
00:24:24.720 that,
00:24:24.980 that this is what we're dealing with,
00:24:26.940 right?
00:24:27.240 This is,
00:24:28.640 you know,
00:24:29.180 we talk about the sides.
00:24:30.360 I mean,
00:24:30.620 the other side,
00:24:32.280 this is what they support.
00:24:34.140 Pure unbridled evil.
00:24:35.800 And there's one other point about this.
00:24:40.180 Like I said,
00:24:40.700 we'll,
00:24:40.860 we'll be talking about this in more detail later this week.
00:24:44.360 So kind of an overview,
00:24:45.860 but you know,
00:24:48.300 the other,
00:24:49.300 the other really important point,
00:24:50.360 which,
00:24:50.680 which I've made before,
00:24:51.480 but I don't think is brought up nearly enough is this,
00:24:54.820 that both the left and right agree on one thing when it comes to this topic,
00:25:01.000 right?
00:25:01.860 We agree that trans identified kids are at a time.
00:25:05.780 A much higher risk of suicide than kids who are not trans identified.
00:25:10.300 I think we both,
00:25:11.360 we agree on that.
00:25:12.820 Now the left sometimes trots out statistics that I think are,
00:25:16.200 are rather inflated.
00:25:19.180 And it's the kind of thing that it's,
00:25:20.940 it's hard to quantify statistically,
00:25:22.760 but every study that we've seen,
00:25:26.700 every,
00:25:27.160 you know,
00:25:27.600 any attempt to tabulate these sorts of statistics,
00:25:29.940 they've all come to the same conclusion that trans,
00:25:35.680 trans identified kids are a high risk group for suicide.
00:25:38.640 They are higher than kids who are not trans identified.
00:25:44.800 And so again,
00:25:45.120 I think we all agree on that point.
00:25:48.800 And so that means that California has just empowered schools to hide a child's high risk status from his own parents.
00:25:58.420 If a child is at a high risk of suicide,
00:26:01.820 the parents,
00:26:03.780 the first line of defense against a child committing any kind of self-harm,
00:26:07.800 because they're the ones who live with the child,
00:26:10.100 are at home with,
00:26:11.520 with the child.
00:26:12.840 But with this law,
00:26:14.240 the parents won't know about it.
00:26:15.360 So leave everything else aside for a moment.
00:26:21.060 Right?
00:26:21.260 No matter how you,
00:26:22.000 no matter what you think about gender ideology,
00:26:24.460 transgenderism,
00:26:25.540 it doesn't matter.
00:26:27.940 This is reason enough
00:26:29.560 to not just inform parents,
00:26:32.780 but to require that they be informed.
00:26:36.980 This is reason enough.
00:26:38.220 Whatever else you might think,
00:26:40.620 the fact remains that parents need to know
00:26:43.060 if their child is in a category
00:26:45.380 that puts them at a high risk for self-harm.
00:26:50.600 Parents need to know that.
00:26:52.020 For the child's safety,
00:26:53.400 they call it a safety act.
00:26:54.760 For the child's safety,
00:26:56.840 parents need to know that.
00:27:01.680 So what happens when you have the first child who
00:27:03.980 identifies as trans
00:27:06.760 starts having suicidal ideation,
00:27:14.840 you know,
00:27:15.280 maybe there's a teacher,
00:27:17.200 there's some counselor at the school
00:27:18.580 that would like to inform the parent,
00:27:21.600 feels morally obligated to,
00:27:24.980 but doesn't
00:27:25.900 because they're legally
00:27:27.720 barred from it.
00:27:31.040 And then that child goes on
00:27:36.520 to tragically hurt himself.
00:27:39.100 Like, what happens then?
00:27:42.820 Well, we know the answer.
00:27:44.640 Nothing happens.
00:27:46.140 Politically, anyway.
00:27:47.580 These people aren't going to accept
00:27:48.720 any responsibility,
00:27:49.720 no matter what happens.
00:27:51.460 And we know in particular,
00:27:55.740 when it comes to the sky-high rates
00:27:58.240 of suicidal ideation,
00:27:59.400 suicide attempts,
00:28:00.260 and suicide
00:28:00.840 among trans-identified people,
00:28:03.760 kids in particular,
00:28:05.100 that no matter what,
00:28:07.760 those tragic cases
00:28:08.920 are always going to be used
00:28:10.440 against, you know,
00:28:13.600 conservatives.
00:28:14.480 That's always going to be our fault,
00:28:15.940 no matter what.
00:28:18.080 Even though we're the ones saying,
00:28:21.180 what, you know,
00:28:22.800 to a child who
00:28:24.560 is struggling
00:28:26.280 with these thoughts,
00:28:29.120 the first thing
00:28:31.620 I would say to the child
00:28:32.740 is,
00:28:33.660 you have to talk to your parents.
00:28:36.580 That's the first thing.
00:28:37.640 Anyone who goes to a kid
00:28:41.980 and says,
00:28:42.660 oh, don't tell your parents
00:28:43.480 about this.
00:28:45.080 You and I can talk about it,
00:28:46.520 but don't tell your parents.
00:28:48.040 This is a secret
00:28:48.860 between you and me.
00:28:50.760 Anyone who does that,
00:28:51.880 any adult who does that,
00:28:53.300 cannot be trusted.
00:28:55.600 That's,
00:28:56.020 that's not just a red flag.
00:28:58.140 That is a,
00:28:58.540 that's a parade
00:28:59.420 of red flags.
00:29:04.640 Okay, as mentioned earlier,
00:29:05.920 Biden spoke to the NAACP,
00:29:07.460 yesterday.
00:29:08.440 Feels kind of pointless
00:29:09.260 to even make
00:29:09.900 any real note
00:29:11.480 of this at this point,
00:29:13.200 but still,
00:29:14.620 I can't help but note
00:29:15.780 that the speech
00:29:16.540 was a disaster.
00:29:18.600 So here's a quick
00:29:19.440 highlight reel
00:29:20.060 that was posted
00:29:20.520 by the account
00:29:21.080 AGHamilton29
00:29:22.180 on Twitter.
00:29:22.840 I don't know
00:29:23.120 if they made the video
00:29:24.220 or not.
00:29:24.960 That's where I found it.
00:29:26.540 And here it is.
00:29:28.600 Watch.
00:29:29.700 I know.
00:29:31.860 I thought you'd say,
00:29:32.860 Joe,
00:29:33.160 you may not have a Congress.
00:29:34.700 Well, guess what?
00:29:35.260 You all told me
00:29:35.820 I couldn't pass
00:29:36.660 the Inflation Reduction Act.
00:29:39.260 You all told me
00:29:39.880 I couldn't face it.
00:29:41.120 Anyway,
00:29:42.320 we did it.
00:29:45.880 We're going to bring
00:29:46.540 rents down.
00:29:47.120 As I said,
00:29:47.600 we're going to build
00:29:48.020 two million affordable homes.
00:29:50.280 The cap rent increases
00:29:51.120 to five percent a year
00:29:52.040 so corporate landlords
00:29:53.000 can't,
00:29:53.960 God,
00:29:55.320 anyway,
00:29:55.960 I don't want to get going.
00:29:57.300 I'm going to get very upset.
00:29:58.600 But there's
00:30:00.540 gouging America.
00:30:02.560 By the way,
00:30:04.340 not only saves lives,
00:30:05.600 it'll save taxpayers
00:30:06.580 just what I did
00:30:07.740 on the first round
00:30:09.040 on dealing with Medicare.
00:30:10.960 It saves the taxpayer
00:30:12.340 one hundred
00:30:14.060 and sixty
00:30:15.040 billion dollars
00:30:16.320 because they don't have
00:30:18.260 to pay these exorbitant prices
00:30:19.840 to these
00:30:21.380 anyway.
00:30:22.020 If you're keeping track
00:30:24.480 at home,
00:30:25.800 that is three times
00:30:27.140 in one speech
00:30:27.840 when he stopped
00:30:28.580 mid-sentence
00:30:29.280 because he forgot
00:30:29.980 what he was
00:30:30.420 in the middle of saying.
00:30:33.120 The Republicans
00:30:34.160 are destroying democracy.
00:30:35.780 Here's the evidence.
00:30:36.580 Number one,
00:30:38.580 eh,
00:30:39.880 anyway,
00:30:42.120 I'm not going to go there.
00:30:44.400 What do you mean
00:30:44.900 you're not going to go there?
00:30:46.120 You're giving the speech
00:30:47.020 about it.
00:30:48.020 I don't even understand
00:30:49.020 what's happening here.
00:30:50.160 I mean,
00:30:50.540 neither does Biden,
00:30:51.300 obviously,
00:30:51.740 but what I don't get
00:30:53.460 is he's on prompter,
00:30:55.000 isn't he?
00:30:55.880 They're not sending,
00:30:57.060 are they sending him out there
00:30:58.180 to give memorized speeches?
00:31:01.800 Is this some sort
00:31:02.600 of brain exercise
00:31:03.620 they're trying to get,
00:31:04.460 you know,
00:31:04.800 are they trying to get
00:31:05.640 the wheels turning again?
00:31:08.360 Is that what's happening?
00:31:08.900 I assume not.
00:31:09.760 I assume he's on prompter.
00:31:11.360 So how can you forget
00:31:13.600 what you're saying
00:31:14.700 when it's right in front of you
00:31:16.140 and you're reading it?
00:31:17.460 But this is senility,
00:31:22.720 so it's no mystery
00:31:23.480 and Democrats are stuck with it.
00:31:25.620 There's no getting out of it now.
00:31:27.000 Like I said a couple of days ago,
00:31:28.100 the effort to replace Biden
00:31:29.340 is done
00:31:30.420 and I think we've seen that
00:31:32.280 pan out over the last few days.
00:31:33.560 You haven't really heard
00:31:34.200 anything about it.
00:31:36.220 There will be no more calls
00:31:37.480 for Biden to step down
00:31:38.600 and who could they even
00:31:40.960 replace him with at this point?
00:31:42.940 They're not going to find anyone
00:31:43.640 that would want to
00:31:44.140 that would want to step in
00:31:46.700 in the middle of this.
00:31:48.400 No way.
00:31:51.020 All right, here's Joy Reid
00:31:52.460 at the RNC last night.
00:31:54.240 Listen.
00:31:55.520 Universal kind of reaction
00:31:57.660 that I'm getting,
00:31:58.480 whether it's civilians
00:31:59.100 or, you know, professionals,
00:32:00.720 is really a deep concern
00:32:03.580 and lack of confidence
00:32:07.200 in not us at this table
00:32:10.780 or us at MSNBC,
00:32:12.460 but us as the media writ large.
00:32:14.800 And a fear
00:32:16.040 that what's going to happen now
00:32:18.020 is that the Republican Party
00:32:20.640 will do what they do.
00:32:21.560 They're in the middle of a campaign.
00:32:22.840 They're, you know,
00:32:23.220 the convention started today.
00:32:24.420 That the media will acquiesce
00:32:27.140 to trying to convince people
00:32:30.640 that the things
00:32:31.360 they've been experiencing
00:32:32.460 for the last, you know,
00:32:34.000 five, six years
00:32:34.760 didn't happen.
00:32:36.840 That the greatest purveyor
00:32:39.980 and promoter
00:32:41.760 of political violence
00:32:42.980 really, you know,
00:32:44.800 since anyone can remember,
00:32:47.720 since George Wallace,
00:32:49.220 I think, you know,
00:32:49.980 that we just haven't experienced
00:32:51.300 that kind of open,
00:32:52.700 you know, sort of citing
00:32:54.380 or sort of incitement of violence
00:32:56.180 or sort of luxuriating
00:32:57.460 in the idea of violence.
00:32:58.180 It's just not something
00:32:58.780 we're used to anymore
00:33:00.180 in American politics.
00:33:01.180 And then we had to get used
00:33:02.520 to that being a thing.
00:33:03.660 And people are concerned
00:33:05.440 and expressing concern
00:33:06.580 that we won't be
00:33:08.000 the guardians of memory
00:33:09.500 and that we will allow
00:33:12.220 Donald Trump,
00:33:14.500 as he is, you know,
00:33:16.100 bathed in the glory
00:33:18.040 and grandeur of his party,
00:33:19.480 to rewrite himself
00:33:21.620 as both a hero and a victim,
00:33:23.640 that people who are
00:33:24.920 the most vulnerable
00:33:25.980 to not just the things
00:33:27.400 he's done,
00:33:27.960 but the things
00:33:28.360 he's promising to do,
00:33:30.120 and that that will then happen
00:33:32.020 without a guardian
00:33:33.700 saying, wait, stop,
00:33:36.440 and then the media
00:33:37.500 will acquiesce
00:33:38.440 to this rewrite.
00:33:40.940 So that's actually
00:33:41.840 very interesting
00:33:42.660 and not for the reasons
00:33:44.020 that she intends,
00:33:45.560 but it is very interesting.
00:33:47.100 How does she describe
00:33:49.900 the media?
00:33:50.560 She says the media
00:33:51.260 must be the guardians
00:33:52.440 of memory.
00:33:54.160 Now, leave aside
00:33:55.000 the flowery,
00:33:56.300 absurdly self-inflated,
00:33:57.600 overly dramatic view
00:33:59.160 that she has
00:33:59.840 of herself
00:34:00.440 and her profession
00:34:01.160 and her colleagues,
00:34:03.100 the way that she
00:34:04.000 wildly overestimates
00:34:06.040 her own importance.
00:34:07.260 We're used to that
00:34:08.280 from the media.
00:34:09.880 They are the guardians,
00:34:11.600 she declares.
00:34:12.600 Because she imagines
00:34:13.380 herself in like
00:34:14.480 a superhero cape,
00:34:16.040 hands on her hip,
00:34:17.100 standing on the rooftop,
00:34:19.700 overlooking the city
00:34:20.560 like Batman,
00:34:22.000 cape blowing in the wind.
00:34:25.080 The guardian.
00:34:26.400 That's how she imagines herself.
00:34:29.160 But listen to what she
00:34:30.020 sees herself
00:34:31.220 as the guardian of.
00:34:33.420 Memory.
00:34:34.760 The guardian of memory.
00:34:39.820 And this is why
00:34:41.500 I like someone
00:34:41.980 like Joy Rita.
00:34:42.580 Well, I'm not gonna say like,
00:34:43.600 that's a strong term,
00:34:44.300 but
00:34:44.540 this is why
00:34:47.260 at times
00:34:47.760 she is useful
00:34:48.480 because
00:34:49.000 she will,
00:34:51.360 she's attempting
00:34:52.200 her best,
00:34:52.960 she's doing her best,
00:34:54.680 doing the best she can
00:34:56.060 to be a propagandist,
00:34:57.860 to be a good
00:34:58.560 little propagandist.
00:35:00.260 She wants to avoid
00:35:01.420 saying anything
00:35:02.080 that resembles
00:35:02.700 the truth.
00:35:04.360 And usually
00:35:05.100 she's able
00:35:05.880 to navigate that.
00:35:07.040 but every once
00:35:09.400 in a while
00:35:09.840 while trying
00:35:11.440 to propagandize
00:35:12.720 and avoid
00:35:13.620 the truth,
00:35:14.140 she accidentally
00:35:14.800 says something
00:35:15.540 that is quite revealing
00:35:17.420 and this is one of them,
00:35:18.300 that in the media
00:35:19.920 they see themselves
00:35:21.220 as the guardians
00:35:22.160 of memory.
00:35:22.860 They are the ones
00:35:23.460 who decide
00:35:24.200 what we remember
00:35:26.020 and how we remember it.
00:35:30.560 Which I shouldn't,
00:35:31.920 I know I don't have
00:35:32.580 to tell you,
00:35:33.640 that is not actually
00:35:34.920 the media's job.
00:35:37.700 If you're a journalist,
00:35:38.840 your job is just
00:35:39.520 to tell us
00:35:40.080 what's happening,
00:35:41.360 which we know
00:35:42.020 most journalists
00:35:42.560 do a terrible job
00:35:43.500 at that.
00:35:44.360 Well, most journalists
00:35:44.880 aren't even trying
00:35:45.580 to really do that
00:35:46.460 in the first place,
00:35:48.200 but in theory
00:35:50.140 that's your job,
00:35:50.880 is to tell us
00:35:51.480 what's happening
00:35:52.160 in the world.
00:35:53.280 Because we can't be
00:35:54.240 everywhere all at once
00:35:55.120 and so we're depending
00:35:56.020 on you
00:35:56.560 to be our eyes and ears.
00:35:58.660 That's the theory anyway.
00:36:01.380 But preserving a memory,
00:36:03.040 that's not,
00:36:03.440 that's not
00:36:05.060 the media's job.
00:36:06.220 Telling us
00:36:06.800 how to remember something,
00:36:08.120 what we should remember
00:36:09.160 of the things
00:36:09.860 that have occurred,
00:36:10.720 no.
00:36:13.580 And that's,
00:36:14.400 that's one of the many reasons
00:36:15.740 why they are
00:36:16.480 quite panicked right now
00:36:18.400 and quite distressed.
00:36:20.000 Because,
00:36:20.520 not only do you have
00:36:21.540 Biden already
00:36:22.140 falling apart,
00:36:22.960 but,
00:36:24.200 well,
00:36:24.580 he has fallen apart
00:36:25.400 completely.
00:36:25.980 He's just a jumbled
00:36:26.820 mess of a,
00:36:28.300 you know,
00:36:28.460 he's barely,
00:36:29.220 he's barely glued,
00:36:31.720 glued together
00:36:32.340 at this point.
00:36:33.080 But,
00:36:33.640 what happened on Saturday
00:36:36.220 is,
00:36:37.280 is a moment
00:36:39.480 that will be remembered.
00:36:42.520 And,
00:36:43.180 it will be remembered
00:36:44.740 primarily,
00:36:46.960 especially in history
00:36:48.640 in the years to come,
00:36:49.440 it will be remembered
00:36:50.100 primarily through that
00:36:51.600 one now iconic photograph.
00:36:54.200 And,
00:36:54.840 and that's what people
00:36:57.440 will remember.
00:36:58.320 that's not what
00:37:00.800 the Joy Reads of the world
00:37:02.240 want us to remember
00:37:03.320 about Donald Trump.
00:37:05.260 That they want us to forget.
00:37:06.880 Don't ever think about that again.
00:37:10.140 They've worked very hard
00:37:11.300 over the years
00:37:11.980 to like,
00:37:14.080 you know,
00:37:14.360 they've got Donald Trump,
00:37:15.340 he's doing and saying stuff
00:37:16.200 all the time,
00:37:17.000 and they pick and choose
00:37:18.360 certain things
00:37:19.300 and say,
00:37:20.020 well,
00:37:20.300 no,
00:37:20.520 this,
00:37:20.760 this is the stuff about Trump
00:37:21.920 you're supposed to remember
00:37:22.700 and think about.
00:37:24.700 And some of it
00:37:25.440 is totally invented,
00:37:26.540 some of it isn't,
00:37:27.180 but this is,
00:37:27.920 this is what we want you
00:37:28.820 to remember about him.
00:37:30.720 And then Saturday happens
00:37:31.940 and this is something
00:37:32.520 that everyone's going to remember
00:37:33.540 and they're quite panicked about it.
00:37:35.900 All right,
00:37:36.080 moving on to this.
00:37:38.380 We might actually do
00:37:39.160 five headlines today
00:37:39.980 on the five headlines.
00:37:40.700 This might be the first time
00:37:41.720 this is historic.
00:37:43.860 This might be the first time
00:37:44.680 in the history of the show
00:37:45.320 when five headlines
00:37:46.020 will include five.
00:37:46.620 We're at three now,
00:37:47.320 I think.
00:37:47.700 So,
00:37:48.500 let's see if we can get
00:37:49.260 through the next two.
00:37:51.580 I don't know.
00:37:52.100 I don't want to,
00:37:52.420 I don't want to call it
00:37:53.020 ahead of time.
00:37:53.460 We'll see what happens.
00:37:55.280 Wall Street Post reports,
00:37:56.020 President Biden
00:37:56.920 is finalizing plans
00:37:58.060 to endorse major changes
00:37:59.360 to the Supreme Court
00:38:00.000 in the coming weeks,
00:38:00.620 including proposals
00:38:01.260 for legislation
00:38:02.180 to establish term limits
00:38:03.440 for the justices
00:38:05.160 and an enforceable ethics code,
00:38:07.140 according to two people
00:38:07.960 briefed on the plans.
00:38:09.860 He's also weighing
00:38:10.540 whether to call
00:38:11.000 for a constitutional amendment
00:38:12.080 to eliminate broad immunity
00:38:13.380 for presidents
00:38:14.040 and other constitutional
00:38:14.820 officeholders.
00:38:16.560 All right,
00:38:17.340 I just want to focus
00:38:18.380 on this term limits
00:38:19.060 thing for a second.
00:38:21.060 This is what he's
00:38:21.760 going to call for,
00:38:22.540 allegedly,
00:38:23.640 is term limits
00:38:24.680 for the Supreme Court.
00:38:25.700 This is a truly awful idea.
00:38:27.440 I mean,
00:38:27.580 it's a terrible idea.
00:38:28.960 And it's the kind of idea
00:38:30.360 that sounds good
00:38:31.500 if you don't think about it
00:38:32.920 for more than five seconds.
00:38:34.780 But if you do,
00:38:35.840 you'll realize
00:38:36.380 that it will make
00:38:37.640 all of the things
00:38:39.700 we don't like
00:38:40.560 about the Supreme Court
00:38:41.540 worse.
00:38:43.100 So whatever problem
00:38:44.520 you see on the Supreme Court,
00:38:46.520 if it's a real problem,
00:38:48.080 this will not solve it.
00:38:50.000 This will just make
00:38:50.860 that problem worse.
00:38:52.380 And what is the big problem
00:38:55.360 on the Supreme Court?
00:38:56.120 Well, the big problem is
00:38:57.180 when the justices
00:38:58.580 make political decisions.
00:39:00.740 When they decide a case
00:39:02.080 not based on the constitutional
00:39:03.320 merits of the arguments,
00:39:04.440 but on the politics
00:39:05.280 of the situation.
00:39:06.620 Not every justice does that.
00:39:08.240 Not every decision
00:39:08.980 is politically motivated.
00:39:10.040 In fact,
00:39:10.320 there have been decisions
00:39:11.140 that were made
00:39:11.720 in total defiance
00:39:12.720 of the politics.
00:39:14.040 Overturning Roe v. Wade
00:39:14.940 is the number one example
00:39:17.080 of that.
00:39:18.560 Definitely not
00:39:19.380 a political decision.
00:39:20.240 It was made simply
00:39:20.920 because it's the right choice.
00:39:23.980 And when you're assessing
00:39:25.300 this case
00:39:25.760 on the constitutional merits,
00:39:28.500 Roe is a disaster
00:39:29.580 and it's a farce
00:39:30.880 and it needs to be overturned.
00:39:32.700 And so they did.
00:39:34.380 But when bad things
00:39:35.900 happen on the court,
00:39:37.100 it's because they're acting
00:39:38.360 as political entities,
00:39:40.200 as political actors,
00:39:42.260 not as justices.
00:39:44.620 So, the question,
00:39:47.580 does a term limit
00:39:48.560 mitigate that problem?
00:39:51.900 Well, no, of course not.
00:39:53.620 It makes it significantly worse
00:39:55.620 because now the Supreme Court
00:39:56.920 is not the end point
00:39:58.560 of your career.
00:39:59.840 It's a step
00:40:00.780 towards something else.
00:40:02.960 The justices will,
00:40:03.880 you know,
00:40:04.960 in a term limit world,
00:40:07.240 they're going to soon
00:40:08.600 be out in the world again
00:40:09.780 looking for their next gig.
00:40:10.980 That will make them
00:40:13.240 more political
00:40:14.620 in their action.
00:40:15.660 It will ensure
00:40:16.260 that they take politics
00:40:17.260 even more into account.
00:40:19.780 I mean, think about this.
00:40:20.760 You're going to have
00:40:21.280 Supreme Court justices,
00:40:22.460 if there's term limits,
00:40:23.760 whose ultimate plan
00:40:25.980 is to run for president.
00:40:29.160 What then?
00:40:29.920 What happens
00:40:30.400 when you have
00:40:31.180 Supreme Court justices
00:40:32.480 with aspirations
00:40:33.880 to run for political office
00:40:35.820 in five years
00:40:36.780 or ten years
00:40:37.700 or whatever?
00:40:38.160 Would you be able
00:40:41.520 to trust anything
00:40:42.360 they do,
00:40:42.960 any decision they make
00:40:44.020 with that
00:40:45.460 as their ultimate goal?
00:40:46.400 Of course not.
00:40:49.520 But this is obviously
00:40:50.860 a feature,
00:40:51.720 not a bug
00:40:52.340 for the left.
00:40:53.800 You know,
00:40:54.000 I am describing this
00:40:56.460 maybe somewhat naively
00:40:57.460 as the big problem
00:41:00.140 with doing term limits
00:41:01.040 for the Supreme Court.
00:41:02.000 But for them,
00:41:02.820 that's the point.
00:41:04.020 I mean,
00:41:04.260 they hear this
00:41:04.880 and they think,
00:41:05.280 well, yeah, exactly.
00:41:06.500 That's exactly
00:41:07.500 why we want term limits
00:41:08.540 because then these people
00:41:10.280 are much easier
00:41:11.160 to control.
00:41:13.160 Then our threats
00:41:14.140 mean a lot more.
00:41:17.700 Then we don't even
00:41:18.520 have to send
00:41:19.320 angry mobs
00:41:20.460 to their houses
00:41:21.040 and put their lives
00:41:22.200 in jeopardy
00:41:22.760 because now
00:41:24.520 they're going to be out
00:41:25.160 in a few years
00:41:25.960 and, hey,
00:41:26.600 if you want to have
00:41:27.120 any career outside of this,
00:41:29.120 you better stay
00:41:30.360 within the boundaries
00:41:31.200 that we set up for you.
00:41:34.480 That's what it's all about.
00:41:35.360 That's why they want
00:41:36.680 term limits
00:41:37.160 is to make,
00:41:38.780 it is not to
00:41:39.680 make the court
00:41:40.800 less political
00:41:41.400 but to make it
00:41:42.140 much more political
00:41:43.180 than it already is.
00:41:46.440 Okay,
00:41:46.960 we are going to do it.
00:41:47.560 We're going to get
00:41:47.900 to headline number five
00:41:49.840 and it's a very important one.
00:41:53.420 The singer
00:41:53.880 Ingrid Andress
00:41:54.920 performed the anthem
00:41:55.920 at the Home Run Derby
00:41:57.620 the other night
00:41:58.140 and it was so bad
00:42:01.880 that she checked herself
00:42:02.900 into rehab
00:42:03.600 the next day.
00:42:04.440 So the next day
00:42:05.620 she sent out a message
00:42:06.840 saying that she was drunk
00:42:08.200 while performing the anthem
00:42:09.660 and that's why
00:42:10.200 it was so bad
00:42:10.940 and, you know,
00:42:12.200 there was a lot of, like,
00:42:13.220 people that were upset
00:42:14.060 and so she said
00:42:16.500 that she's going to
00:42:16.940 check herself into rehab
00:42:17.800 which,
00:42:19.580 if she has a problem,
00:42:20.880 it's obviously
00:42:21.740 a good thing
00:42:22.880 that she's getting help
00:42:23.580 for it.
00:42:25.100 But let's,
00:42:26.340 and I'm not looking
00:42:26.980 to pile on
00:42:28.420 or anything here.
00:42:29.780 Actually,
00:42:30.080 I have a point
00:42:30.700 that I want to make
00:42:31.220 about this
00:42:31.840 but let's,
00:42:32.880 in order to make the point
00:42:33.640 we need to listen
00:42:34.100 to the performance
00:42:34.600 and here it is.
00:42:36.520 Oh, say can you see
00:42:42.580 by the dawn's early light
00:42:48.040 what so proudly we hailed
00:42:53.380 by the twilight's last gleaming
00:42:58.840 who'd brought stripes
00:43:01.960 and bright stars
00:43:05.200 through the perilous fight
00:43:09.900 O'er the ramparts we watched
00:43:15.440 were so gallantly streaming
00:43:20.700 And the rocket's red glare
00:43:26.460 The bombs bursting in air
00:43:31.240 Gave proof through the night
00:43:35.740 Look, it's better
00:43:38.080 It's better than I could have done
00:43:38.980 I'll say that
00:43:40.460 In fact,
00:43:42.460 I will say that
00:43:43.080 it's not even
00:43:44.000 the worst anthem performance
00:43:45.280 we've heard
00:43:45.800 It's really middle of the pack
00:43:48.300 because we've heard much worse
00:43:49.620 And that's because
00:43:51.620 the anthem
00:43:52.320 is actually very hard to sing
00:43:54.100 It's a very hard song
00:43:55.880 You're singing acapella
00:43:56.960 usually
00:43:57.460 It's not a pop song, right?
00:43:59.840 Like, this song
00:44:00.480 wasn't written
00:44:01.140 to be catchy necessarily
00:44:02.620 It's not written
00:44:03.400 to be performed
00:44:04.000 on karaoke night
00:44:04.880 at the bar
00:44:05.340 It's a tough song
00:44:08.200 I think
00:44:09.900 I'm totally tone deaf
00:44:11.320 but it seems like
00:44:13.360 it'd be a tough song
00:44:14.140 to sing
00:44:14.560 And so I always feel bad
00:44:16.660 for the people
00:44:17.020 who bombed
00:44:17.540 during the national anthem
00:44:18.400 And I'm always shocked
00:44:19.620 that anyone accepts
00:44:22.800 that gig
00:44:23.380 in the first place
00:44:24.440 because it's so
00:44:25.140 I mean,
00:44:25.520 your chances of failure
00:44:27.020 are so high
00:44:28.620 Your chances of living
00:44:31.100 on an infamy
00:44:32.040 as one of the worst
00:44:32.980 national anthem performances
00:44:33.760 It's like, rather high
00:44:34.980 Which is why
00:44:38.520 I'd like to
00:44:39.680 propose this
00:44:40.520 Because we've seen
00:44:41.940 far too many cases
00:44:42.740 of people butchering the anthem
00:44:43.840 often through no fault
00:44:44.760 of their own
00:44:45.280 They try their best
00:44:47.320 but it's just terrible
00:44:48.100 Now, this woman was drunk
00:44:50.020 she says
00:44:50.600 and, you know
00:44:51.880 so that's part of it
00:44:52.940 I think that's probably
00:44:53.480 only a partial excuse
00:44:54.560 Let's be real about that
00:44:56.340 Whitney Houston
00:44:57.020 in her prime
00:44:57.640 She could have chugged
00:44:58.760 three liters of red wine
00:45:00.020 and nailed the anthem anyway
00:45:01.980 Because if you're a great singer
00:45:03.720 I think booze probably
00:45:04.640 won't stop you
00:45:05.200 But, you know
00:45:06.740 most people are not
00:45:07.480 great singers
00:45:08.040 Even most professional singers
00:45:09.380 aren't great singers
00:45:10.420 Most of them are decent
00:45:12.260 pretty good
00:45:13.420 Most of them are not great
00:45:14.440 Then there's somebody like me
00:45:16.180 who has the singing voice
00:45:17.160 of like a
00:45:17.820 dying grizzly bear
00:45:19.420 So, most people are just
00:45:21.700 not cut out for this racket
00:45:22.820 I would say
00:45:23.360 Which is why
00:45:23.960 I would suggest
00:45:25.460 I would propose
00:45:26.280 that
00:45:27.680 we appoint
00:45:29.740 let's say
00:45:32.040 and I'm serious about this
00:45:33.400 I think we should
00:45:33.880 really consider it
00:45:34.580 We should appoint
00:45:35.780 let's say
00:45:36.200 and I'm just pulling
00:45:38.280 this number out of thin air
00:45:38.940 but let's say
00:45:39.420 five
00:45:40.200 official anthem singers
00:45:42.520 and there will be
00:45:44.120 term limits
00:45:44.600 on this office
00:45:45.320 This is not a lifetime
00:45:46.140 appointment
00:45:46.620 Let's
00:45:48.160 I'll call
00:45:48.760 and I'm just
00:45:49.220 again
00:45:49.620 spitballing here
00:45:51.080 but let's say
00:45:52.180 a ten year appointment
00:45:53.100 we appoint
00:45:55.080 five singers
00:45:55.780 and this is the
00:45:57.360 whatever
00:45:57.820 the national anthem squad
00:46:00.160 we'll think of a better name
00:46:00.960 but you know
00:46:01.640 and they handle
00:46:03.200 all the anthem duties
00:46:04.020 during their tenure
00:46:04.680 If the anthem
00:46:05.880 needs to be
00:46:06.480 needs to be performed
00:46:08.040 at any
00:46:10.100 and I think you might say
00:46:10.960 well
00:46:11.160 there's no way
00:46:11.960 if you have five singers
00:46:12.860 they can't be at every place
00:46:14.040 where the anthem
00:46:14.480 is being performed
00:46:15.100 any nationally
00:46:16.880 televised event
00:46:18.820 that begins
00:46:20.520 with the anthem
00:46:21.120 as they all should
00:46:22.800 by the way
00:46:23.500 will be handled
00:46:26.580 by one of these
00:46:28.000 official anthem singers
00:46:29.860 You know
00:46:33.540 I started thinking
00:46:34.360 about this idea
00:46:34.880 kind of as a joke
00:46:35.560 but then as I thought
00:46:36.160 more about it
00:46:36.740 I thought
00:46:37.140 well that's
00:46:37.540 we should really do that
00:46:39.200 and the national anthem
00:46:41.660 is
00:46:41.900 it's sacred to us
00:46:44.200 it is our national anthem
00:46:45.740 as Americans
00:46:46.400 and it should be treated
00:46:47.620 as such
00:46:48.160 and so we can have
00:46:50.040 a voting process
00:46:50.820 like a
00:46:51.160 it's like a
00:46:51.780 you know
00:46:52.060 a giant
00:46:52.740 it's like American Idol
00:46:54.760 basically
00:46:55.180 but much more important
00:46:56.780 and we select our five
00:46:59.040 and they're appointed
00:46:59.500 and we vote
00:47:00.380 and those are the people
00:47:01.840 they can do it
00:47:02.480 if you have a
00:47:05.500 if you do have a bad performance
00:47:06.880 if something like this happens
00:47:08.000 you go out there drunk
00:47:08.980 and you just
00:47:09.440 and you
00:47:09.860 and you completely bomb
00:47:11.160 you could be
00:47:12.360 you know
00:47:13.060 we have impeachment proceedings
00:47:14.060 that we can
00:47:14.720 resort to
00:47:15.960 if we need to
00:47:16.420 just an idea
00:47:18.040 something for us all
00:47:18.980 to think about

00:49:05.800 this isn't some
00:49:06.600 feel-good discount
00:49:07.720 this is your opportunity
00:49:08.800 to access real
00:49:09.960 unfiltered
00:49:10.560 conservative content
00:49:11.320 that actually
00:49:12.020 tells the truth
00:49:12.720 something that
00:49:13.180 mainstream media
00:49:13.840 seems allergic to
00:49:14.760 with this membership
00:49:15.860 you get it all
00:49:16.480 shows that don't
00:49:17.380 pander to the woke mob
00:49:18.320 podcasts that make
00:49:19.240 you think
00:49:19.640 and news that isn't
00:49:20.820 sanitized by leftist
00:49:22.000 ideologies
00:49:22.500 go to dailywire.com

00:49:25.760 to get 47% off
00:49:27.880 with our presidential deal
00:49:29.220 now let's get to
00:49:30.300 our daily cancellation
00:49:31.260 for our daily cancellation
00:49:38.520 today we are
00:49:39.340 reaching back
00:49:40.420 into ancient history
00:49:41.620 all the way back
00:49:42.340 to July 9th
00:49:43.560 of 2024
00:49:44.340 now you might say
00:49:45.980 that it's only
00:49:47.120 a week ago
00:49:47.780 but in social media
00:49:48.760 time it may as well
00:49:49.600 be half a century
00:49:50.320 especially given
00:49:50.900 what has transpired
00:49:51.740 in the meantime
00:49:52.280 be that as it may
00:49:53.760 we have to talk
00:49:54.460 about this
00:49:54.900 for no other reason
00:49:55.880 than I think
00:49:57.480 it's funny
00:49:57.900 and I saw this
00:49:59.640 while I was away
00:50:00.220 on vacation last week
00:50:01.340 I made a note
00:50:03.500 that I wanted
00:50:03.960 to make fun of it
00:50:04.760 like I literally
00:50:06.640 texted that note
00:50:07.480 to myself
00:50:07.940 along with the link
00:50:08.700 make fun of this
00:50:09.800 next week
00:50:10.280 and if I make
00:50:12.260 a note to myself
00:50:12.880 I have to follow it
00:50:13.780 so I'm going to
00:50:14.320 stick to the plan
00:50:15.000 come hell or high water
00:50:16.100 when I promise
00:50:17.380 to mock something
00:50:18.120 I will mock it
00:50:19.000 that is my solemn oath
00:50:19.900 so Becky Pringle
00:50:21.740 is the president
00:50:22.480 of the National
00:50:23.120 Education Association
00:50:23.900 she gave the keynote
00:50:24.860 address at the
00:50:26.300 NEA annual convention
00:50:27.840 last week
00:50:28.640 now I didn't watch
00:50:30.040 the speech
00:50:30.460 apart from the
00:50:31.040 short clip
00:50:31.440 I'm going to play
00:50:31.980 in a moment
00:50:32.400 but from what
00:50:33.580 I understand
00:50:34.000 it was mostly
00:50:34.880 the sort of
00:50:35.440 left wing claptrap
00:50:36.560 that you would expect
00:50:37.540 from the teachers
00:50:38.220 union president
00:50:38.840 but she got a little
00:50:39.540 bit worked up
00:50:40.120 as she spoke
00:50:40.760 and that led
00:50:42.060 to this moment
00:50:43.080 at the end
00:50:44.480 of her speech
00:50:45.080 watch
00:50:45.780 we are the ones
00:50:47.980 who hold steadfast
00:50:49.540 to the belief
00:50:50.500 of the plausibility
00:50:51.880 of the possible
00:50:53.000 we are the heirs
00:50:54.800 of all
00:50:55.900 who did this work
00:50:56.980 before us
00:50:58.120 we must keep going
00:51:01.120 NEA delegates
00:51:03.380 we can do this work
00:51:05.760 we must do this work
00:51:08.180 we get to do this work
00:51:10.580 we will do this work
00:51:12.900 because our students
00:51:14.500 are depending on us
00:51:16.880 to win all the things
00:51:20.060 NEA we have to win
00:51:22.100 all the things
00:51:24.340 all the things
00:51:26.320 all the things
00:51:28.760 our colleagues
00:51:30.460 are depending on us
00:51:31.980 to win all the things
00:51:33.900 keep going NEA
00:51:35.880 to preserve our democracy
00:51:37.960 we must win
00:51:39.540 all the things
00:51:41.400 delegates
00:51:42.400 we won't
00:51:43.880 go
00:51:44.660 back
00:51:45.560 we will keep
00:51:46.720 going
00:51:47.380 forward
00:51:48.140 because we
00:51:49.420 are the NEA
00:51:51.420 we are the NEA
00:51:53.660 we are the NEA
00:51:55.940 and that's
00:51:57.720 what we do
00:51:59.220 thank you
00:52:00.300 NEA
00:52:01.100 thank you
00:52:01.960 I love you
00:52:02.840 so as you can see
00:52:05.020 a triumphant
00:52:06.200 exhilarating speech
00:52:07.640 clearly inspired
00:52:08.540 both in tone
00:52:09.340 and content
00:52:09.800 by the two great
00:52:10.680 orators of our time
00:52:12.000 Kamala Harris
00:52:13.200 and Dwight Schrute
00:52:14.040 so she begins
00:52:15.240 by declaring
00:52:15.780 and I quote
00:52:16.360 we are the ones
00:52:18.180 who hold steadfast
00:52:19.320 to the belief
00:52:19.980 of the plausibility
00:52:20.980 of the possible
00:52:21.920 the plausibility
00:52:24.980 of the possible
00:52:25.860 now many critics
00:52:27.680 of this speech
00:52:28.200 have said that this
00:52:28.780 statement makes no sense
00:52:29.880 but that's
00:52:30.380 that's not true
00:52:31.020 it does make sense
00:52:32.200 it just doesn't
00:52:33.400 mean anything
00:52:34.120 okay
00:52:34.600 it makes sense
00:52:35.460 but doesn't mean anything
00:52:36.340 there's no actual
00:52:38.200 thought or idea
00:52:39.340 being conveyed here
00:52:40.500 even though the words
00:52:41.460 do basically
00:52:42.400 fit together
00:52:43.200 and form a
00:52:44.460 legitimate sentence
00:52:45.400 so you can
00:52:45.780 you can listen to that
00:52:46.500 and say
00:52:46.880 well that's a sentence
00:52:48.520 that's a
00:52:49.940 that's a
00:52:50.240 that's a
00:52:50.580 human English
00:52:52.640 sentence
00:52:53.060 that a person
00:52:53.660 could say
00:52:54.200 sure
00:52:54.580 this again
00:52:55.840 is the Kamala Harris
00:52:56.720 strategy
00:52:57.100 and it's what
00:52:57.620 distinguishes her
00:52:58.340 brand of incoherence
00:52:59.180 from Joe Biden's
00:53:00.080 because in Biden's
00:53:01.580 case the words
00:53:02.420 don't fit together
00:53:03.660 at all
00:53:04.120 and oftentimes
00:53:04.560 the words
00:53:05.120 aren't even real words
00:53:06.280 so it's pure gibberish
00:53:08.200 but Harris
00:53:08.800 she's more interesting
00:53:10.380 she uses real words
00:53:11.620 and she combines them
00:53:13.680 in grammatically
00:53:14.560 valid ways
00:53:15.520 but it all amounts
00:53:16.460 to nothing
00:53:17.020 and same in this case
00:53:18.720 the plausibility
00:53:20.340 of the possible
00:53:21.280 technically speaking
00:53:23.280 possible things
00:53:24.300 are plausible
00:53:25.240 right
00:53:26.400 I mean
00:53:26.800 something is possible
00:53:28.320 if it could
00:53:28.980 potentially happen
00:53:29.960 something is plausible
00:53:31.960 if it's credible
00:53:32.920 or reasonable
00:53:33.660 so
00:53:34.160 you might say
00:53:36.100 that if something
00:53:36.620 could potentially occur
00:53:37.760 then it's reasonable
00:53:38.560 to believe
00:53:39.200 that it could
00:53:40.380 potentially occur
00:53:41.200 so a possible scenario
00:53:43.400 is also a plausible
00:53:44.200 scenario
00:53:44.680 there's no logical
00:53:46.620 contradiction
00:53:47.100 but there also
00:53:47.820 isn't any
00:53:48.220 substantive message
00:53:49.280 being communicated
00:53:50.480 there's no reason
00:53:51.480 to say it
00:53:52.200 okay
00:53:53.260 there's no
00:53:53.620 there's no point
00:53:54.480 it's just
00:53:55.000 it's just a thing
00:53:55.980 that she said
00:53:56.480 she might as well
00:53:57.680 have stood up there
00:53:58.580 and declared
00:53:59.100 we hold steadfast
00:54:00.660 to the belief
00:54:01.200 in the bigness
00:54:02.080 of things
00:54:02.620 that are large
00:54:03.400 now that isn't
00:54:05.320 wrong exactly
00:54:06.160 big things
00:54:08.220 are large
00:54:08.920 sure
00:54:09.320 but it also
00:54:10.580 isn't any kind
00:54:11.240 of insight
00:54:11.840 it isn't anything
00:54:12.560 at all
00:54:13.000 and from there
00:54:14.160 we're told
00:54:14.520 that the teachers
00:54:14.980 union members
00:54:15.540 are heirs
00:54:16.280 to those
00:54:16.880 who did this
00:54:17.640 work before them
00:54:18.520 therefore they must
00:54:20.140 do this work
00:54:20.720 they can do this
00:54:21.500 work
00:54:21.820 they get to do
00:54:23.000 this work
00:54:23.520 they will do
00:54:24.720 this work
00:54:25.260 they will work
00:54:26.720 to do this work
00:54:27.560 because the work
00:54:28.840 they're doing
00:54:29.260 is work
00:54:29.860 that must be
00:54:30.320 worked on
00:54:30.720 and why
00:54:32.460 well because
00:54:32.960 they have to
00:54:33.500 win all the
00:54:34.020 things
00:54:34.400 which things
00:54:35.380 the things
00:54:36.560 how many
00:54:38.120 of the things
00:54:38.660 all of them
00:54:39.380 not most
00:54:41.300 of the things
00:54:41.740 no
00:54:42.000 no
00:54:42.600 no
00:54:42.840 not 95%
00:54:44.140 of the things
00:54:44.660 all of the things
00:54:46.440 that's what
00:54:47.720 Becky Pringle
00:54:48.300 has declared
00:54:48.920 and she has
00:54:50.000 declared it
00:54:50.400 loudly and confidently
00:54:51.180 and heroically
00:54:51.840 what exactly
00:54:53.300 is she declaring
00:54:54.220 well she's declaring
00:54:55.580 her declarations
00:54:56.340 indeed she holds
00:54:57.040 steadfast to the
00:54:57.900 belief that
00:54:58.920 declarations must
00:54:59.960 be declared
00:55:00.640 now although there
00:55:03.060 is nothing at all
00:55:03.640 being said here
00:55:04.420 we can still learn
00:55:05.340 something or at
00:55:06.020 least we can have
00:55:07.260 what we already knew
00:55:07.980 reinforced
00:55:08.400 which is that
00:55:09.980 our schools
00:55:10.420 are being run
00:55:11.200 by the shallowest
00:55:12.300 most vapid people
00:55:13.600 who've ever lived
00:55:14.540 I mean we focus
00:55:15.400 so much on the
00:55:16.040 ideological and
00:55:16.840 political bias
00:55:17.520 and indoctrination
00:55:18.220 in our schools
00:55:18.720 and for good reason
00:55:19.400 that is the most
00:55:21.120 significant problem
00:55:21.880 plaguing the
00:55:22.340 education system
00:55:23.040 it is the thing
00:55:24.440 before anything else
00:55:25.100 that ensures that
00:55:25.700 I will never send
00:55:26.320 my kids to public
00:55:27.000 school but
00:55:27.440 the second biggest
00:55:28.740 problem and not
00:55:29.380 necessarily a very
00:55:30.180 distant second
00:55:30.840 is the total
00:55:31.760 intellectual bankruptcy
00:55:33.060 of the people
00:55:33.860 in charge
00:55:34.420 and that clip
00:55:35.720 in many ways
00:55:36.260 encapsulates the whole
00:55:37.280 public school
00:55:37.880 experience
00:55:38.420 it drags on
00:55:39.400 feels like it will
00:55:40.340 never end
00:55:40.920 and by the end of it
00:55:42.500 you aren't sure
00:55:43.000 what the point of it
00:55:43.600 even was
00:55:44.120 there's one other
00:55:45.880 thing to notice
00:55:46.440 in the speech
00:55:46.920 she says that
00:55:47.580 one of the reasons
00:55:49.000 that they must win
00:55:50.160 all the things
00:55:50.960 whatever the things
00:55:51.880 are that must be won
00:55:52.840 they must win them all
00:55:54.140 is because it's
00:55:55.660 what is necessary
00:55:57.280 in order to preserve
00:55:58.280 our democracy
00:55:59.120 now you might say
00:56:01.180 that's just another
00:56:01.780 slogan that she
00:56:02.620 randomly tossed
00:56:03.440 into this buffet
00:56:04.440 of vacuous platitudes
00:56:05.720 and for the most part
00:56:07.160 that's all it is
00:56:08.220 on the left
00:56:10.260 the word democracy
00:56:11.360 has come to mean
00:56:12.260 all the stuff we want
00:56:13.560 so to preserve
00:56:15.080 our democracy
00:56:15.680 therefore is to get
00:56:16.580 all the stuff they want
00:56:17.420 rather than the stuff
00:56:18.080 they don't want
00:56:18.580 but if we were to look
00:56:20.300 for any deeper meaning
00:56:21.300 which is perhaps
00:56:22.020 a fool's errand
00:56:22.700 I think the deeper
00:56:24.660 meaning would be this
00:56:25.360 the left supports
00:56:27.340 democracy
00:56:28.040 when and only when
00:56:30.120 it results
00:56:31.540 in left-wing policies
00:56:32.940 and helps to fulfill
00:56:33.860 left-wing goals
00:56:34.900 so it is not
00:56:36.460 democracy itself
00:56:37.620 that they're so fond of
00:56:38.560 but rather the kind
00:56:39.540 of culture and country
00:56:40.480 that democracy
00:56:41.600 might create
00:56:42.600 and this is why
00:56:44.100 they say for instance
00:56:44.820 that a ballot measure
00:56:46.460 that protects
00:56:47.060 so-called
00:56:47.780 quote-unquote
00:56:48.420 abortion rights
00:56:49.300 is a win for democracy
00:56:50.960 but Trump being
00:56:52.920 elected president
00:56:53.680 is somehow
00:56:54.600 an attack on democracy
00:56:55.900 they're both democracy
00:56:58.080 but one is the result
00:57:00.020 they want
00:57:00.420 and the other isn't
00:57:01.180 so democracy
00:57:02.760 is a means to an end
00:57:04.200 and on the left
00:57:05.260 nothing has any value
00:57:06.440 unless it is a means
00:57:07.620 to an end
00:57:08.280 what does this have to do
00:57:10.280 with the schools
00:57:10.760 well it has everything
00:57:11.320 to do with the schools
00:57:11.920 by indoctrinating
00:57:13.040 the next generation
00:57:13.760 of Americans
00:57:14.240 they can preserve democracy
00:57:15.700 in the sense of ensuring
00:57:16.880 the results they want
00:57:17.920 they can control
00:57:18.720 the democracy
00:57:19.320 by shaping the people
00:57:21.200 who participate in it
00:57:22.380 that's what she means
00:57:24.820 it's the only thing
00:57:26.760 she said in that speech
00:57:27.580 that means anything
00:57:28.340 and it is the reason
00:57:30.340 above all other reasons
00:57:31.440 why the public school system
00:57:33.600 should be totally abandoned
00:57:35.080 and it's also why
00:57:36.100 the teacher union president
00:57:37.800 Becky Pringle
00:57:38.680 is today
00:57:39.980 cancelled
00:57:41.140 that'll do it for the show today
00:57:43.180 thanks for watching
00:57:43.720 thanks for listening
