00:00:07.440 It doesn't work that way, obviously, but what were they even trying to attempt?
00:00:11.640 And how do we explain all of the mainstream and left-wing figures in culture and entertainment suddenly falling in line behind Trump?
00:00:17.240 What does it signal about conservatism moving forward?
00:00:19.560 Talk about all that and more today on the Matt Walsh Show.

00:01:39.980 Today's the first day of the second Trump administration, which is a sentence that just four years ago would have been hard, if not impossible, to imagine saying out loud.
00:01:50.360 In order to prevent today's inauguration, Trump was, as we know, indicted multiple times, defamed, sued, kicked off the ballot in multiple states, ultimately shot in the head.
00:02:01.200 But against all odds, none of those tactics worked, and as a result, Donald Trump is currently, once again, the president of the United States.
00:02:09.200 Now, there are a lot of ways that you can measure the extent of the historic transformation that this country is about to undergo.
00:02:15.980 You can look at the hundreds of executive orders that Trump is signing today, orders that will enable oil drilling, end DEI in the military, establish the Department of Government Efficiency, secure the border, and so on.
00:02:28.440 You can also look at how our culture is clearly changing, as evidenced by the steady stream of tech executives and celebrities who are now publicly supporting Trump.
00:02:37.800 Censorship, open borders, political oppression, these are not very appealing to most Americans, and now their government will finally reflect that.
00:02:45.820 But maybe the best way to measure our country's imminent transformation is to pay attention to what the Biden administration did on their way out the door.
00:02:53.580 And the contrast tells really the whole story.
00:02:57.220 With very little fanfare, and with no legal authority whatsoever, of course, just days ago, the Biden administration announced that it has the unilateral authority to amend the U.S. Constitution.
00:03:08.160 So they went ahead and declared, on the way out the door, that we have 28 amendments now, instead of what we all thought, which was 27.
00:03:16.880 Now, before I get into the specifics of the amendment that these people think they've added to the Constitution, let's just be clear about one thing.
00:03:27.160 Amending the U.S. Constitution is one of the most difficult and carefully considered actions that can be taken in American politics.
00:03:34.280 The framers made sure of that.
00:03:36.280 It's supposed to require a near total buy-in of the country.
00:03:40.500 And that's why it's only happened 27 times in our history.
00:03:43.400 If it was really easy to amend the Constitution, as easy as the Biden administration thinks it is, then, you know, we'd have 650 amendments by now.
00:03:53.420 And yet the Biden administration, just before leaving office for good, decided to preempt that entire process and give all of that authority to themselves.
00:04:01.880 And they did it at a time when their political capital was at its lowest.
00:04:06.000 They did it after Americans made it very clear that they're tired of this administration and want them out of office.
00:04:11.040 That's the contrast between the Biden administration and the current Trump administration.
00:04:16.560 That's the transformation that we're undergoing right now as a country.
00:04:19.680 We're moving from lawlessness and authoritarianism back to the system of constitutional order that's held this country together for centuries.
00:04:29.640 So in case you missed this unprecedented and pretty bizarre and in a weird way, kind of hilarious power grab, here's Joe Biden the other day announcing out of nowhere that we now have a new 28th Amendment, which is called the Equal Rights Amendment.
00:04:47.000 It's supposedly our first new amendment in more than three decades.
00:04:51.740 Watch.
00:04:51.900 I affirm the Equal Rights Amendment to have cleared all the necessary hurdles to be added to the U.S. Constitution now.
00:05:04.480 The Equal Rights Amendment is the law of the land now.
00:05:12.240 It's the 28th Amendment to the Constitution now.
00:05:15.540 Now, normally in the final days of a presidential administration, you pretty much know what to expect.
00:05:21.960 You'll get a farewell address.
00:05:24.080 Moving vans will arrive at the White House.
00:05:26.960 There will be a bunch of questionable pardons.
00:05:29.300 And then they'll leave.
00:05:30.760 But this time, they're throwing in a constitutional amendment on their way out the door.
00:05:36.000 They're altering the founding document of the entire country.
00:05:39.300 Or they're trying to.
00:05:40.480 They think they do.
00:05:41.100 And they're trying to do it kind of in the same way that Michael Scott declared bankruptcy in the office, if you remember that episode, by just, like, standing up and literally declaring bankruptcy in the office.
00:05:52.860 Though I have to admit, I never thought the office would provide the precedent for the President of the United States attempting to amend the Constitution.
00:05:58.880 But here we are because they're attempting to do it in the same kind of way.
00:06:02.480 Amend the Constitution by just declaring it amended.
00:06:05.240 Of course, what makes this whole situation even more disturbing is that everyone knows that Biden didn't come up with the idea to suddenly ratify a new amendment.
00:06:14.900 Whoever's running the government decided to do this.
00:06:17.260 And it stands to reason that they did it for a reason.
00:06:21.840 So why would some unnamed bureaucrats in an unpopular, outgoing Democrat administration decide to pretend that they've amended the U.S. Constitution on their way out the door?
00:06:32.800 That's a question I think it's worth digging into.
00:06:34.460 And in case you're not familiar with the background of the so-called Equal Rights Amendment, well, here it is.
00:06:41.520 It was first introduced in Congress in 1923.
00:06:44.320 And it guarantees that everybody will receive equal treatment under the law regardless of their sex.
00:06:48.660 Of course, we already had an Equal Protection Clause in the Constitution, which makes the whole thing irrelevant and redundant.
00:06:55.500 But various factions in the feminist movement thought that they needed an additional guarantee of equality for one reason or another.
00:07:02.280 So we need – so we have the general guarantee of equality, but then they want their own special guarantee of equality also written into the same document.
00:07:10.860 Meanwhile, other factions actually wanted women to have more rights than men, so they opposed the amendment on those grounds.
00:07:16.520 But in any event, that's what began the process of making the so-called Equal Rights Amendment into an actual amendment.
00:07:23.140 Congress approved it, sent it to the states, and under our Constitution, three-fourths of state legislatures would have to ratify the amendment in order for it to take effect.
00:07:33.500 Additionally, Congress set a seven-year deadline for ratification, which expired in 1979.
00:07:39.060 Now, by 1979, three-fourths of state legislators had not, in fact, ratified the amendment.
00:07:43.700 In fact, several states that initially ratified it ended up rescinding their ratification, so that's it.
00:07:50.580 You know, that's it. It didn't happen.
00:07:53.100 Or at least that should be it.
00:07:54.700 As the DOJ announced in 2020, quote,
00:07:56.740 We concluded that Congress had the constitutional authority to impose a deadline on the ratification of the ERA, and because that deadline has expired, the ERA resolution is no longer pending before the states.
00:08:07.100 Then in 2022, under the Biden administration, the DOJ affirmed that decision.
00:08:10.360 That same year, Kamala Harris put out this tweet, quote,
00:08:14.260 The principle of gender equality belongs in our Constitution.
00:08:17.260 The president and I are calling on Congress to pass a resolution recognizing ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.
00:08:23.240 The time has come.
00:08:24.960 Well, that never happened either.
00:08:28.260 But last week, in defiance of its own DOJ and its own prior statements, the Biden administration decided to just come out and announce that the 28th Amendment is somehow real.
00:08:38.100 As Kamala Harris put it, quote,
00:08:39.540 So, the Equal Rights Amendment is the 28th Amendment, and it's the law of the land.
00:08:45.080 So, this still leaves the question of, you know, what exactly is going on here?
00:08:49.300 Because, obviously, they're saying it's an amendment.
00:08:52.840 It's not, though.
00:08:54.140 So, what's the point?
00:08:56.400 Now, some people have pointed out that the National Archivist, who has the responsibility of officially publishing amendments, isn't actually doing so.
00:09:04.480 And the Biden administration isn't ordering the archivists to do it either, which may indicate that they understand this is all meaningless political theater.
00:09:13.600 Maybe they just wanted to rile up the base in their last days in office for some reason.
00:09:18.440 And that would be completely pointless, obviously.
00:09:20.140 But then again, these people obviously don't have the best political instincts.
00:09:22.960 So, who knows?
00:09:24.460 But there's reason to think that they're going for something else.
00:09:27.240 All weekend, a bunch of high-profile Democrats put out tweets in lockstep praising this new fake amendment.
00:09:33.020 But one of those Democrats, Kirsten Gillibrand, kind of gave the game away.
00:09:38.480 She hinted very strongly at the Democrats' goal here.
00:09:41.860 Here's what she wrote.
00:09:42.740 Quote,
00:09:43.880 This is an incredible moment for reproductive freedom and a historic day for equality,
00:09:48.720 especially with Americans facing the further degradation of reproductive freedom as the incoming administration takes power.
00:09:54.080 Now, women living in states with restrictions on reproductive health, reproductive freedoms can and should file suits to overturn these unconstitutional laws that discriminate on the basis of sex.
00:10:04.260 I know they will have ample support as they seek justice, and I promise to stand by their side in this fight.
00:10:10.320 So, that's the tell.
00:10:11.580 Gillibrand is spelling it out.
00:10:13.140 The goal is to give activists a pretext to file lawsuits against abortion bans.
00:10:17.460 And here's what they want to argue.
00:10:19.160 Abortion bans discriminate on the basis of sex because they only affect women.
00:10:22.660 And therefore, they violate this new constitutional amendment, which doesn't exist.
00:10:28.540 And so, they have to be struck down on that basis.
00:10:31.860 There are, you know, approximately a million problems with this argument.
00:10:36.760 For one thing, the hypocrisy is so off the charts that it's almost comical.
00:10:41.740 Democrats have spent the last decade telling us that men can get pregnant.
00:10:46.120 So, on that basis alone, this would not discriminate on the basis of sex.
00:10:50.900 And now they're insisting that abortion bans discriminate against women on the basis of sex because only women can get pregnant.
00:10:58.260 So, once again, as always, they're trying to have it both ways, and they're hoping that none of us notice that they want to have it both ways.
00:11:03.200 But, you know, we do.
00:11:05.100 But somehow there's an even bigger issue for Democrats like Kirsten Gillibrand, which is that the Dobbs decision explicitly held that laws against abortion do not constitute sex discrimination.
00:11:16.100 Of course, they don't.
00:11:17.960 The Supreme Court could not have been more clear about this.
00:11:20.740 Quoting from the majority opinion by Justice Alito, the state's regulation of abortion is not a sex-based classification.
00:11:26.400 In other words, even if Democrat activists do go to court and manage to convince a left-wing judge in California that this fake amendment is real,
00:11:33.400 it still doesn't matter because the Supreme Court has already ruled that it's not sex discrimination to prevent a child from being slaughtered.
00:11:39.680 So, you can't send it back to the Supreme Court to have them say again what they've already said.
00:11:45.580 And, of course, it's not sex discrimination, by the way, because the law against abortion is not that only women aren't allowed to kill their children.
00:11:56.000 It's that, well, nobody can kill children.
00:11:59.000 So, that's the law.
00:12:01.100 That's equal rights under the law.
00:12:02.580 Now, what this means is that, again, on the way out the door, Democrats have done a fantastic job illustrating why they're no longer in power.
00:12:11.840 They have demonstrated, once again, that they have no regard whatsoever for the Constitution they're supposedly sworn to protect.
00:12:18.100 And, at the same time, they've demonstrated their complete incompetence.
00:12:20.760 Because, even if this bizarre last-minute scheme had actually convinced anyone that we now have a 28th Amendment to the Constitution,
00:12:28.360 it still would not overturn abortion bans anywhere.
00:12:30.960 This fake amendment is the perfect capstone to Biden's four years in office.
00:12:37.500 It is fundamentally anti-American, illegal, and laughably corrupt.
00:12:42.800 And, just like this fake amendment, after today, no one will have any reason to think about the Biden administration ever again.
00:12:52.180 Now, let's get to our five headlines.
00:12:53.500 I have a question for you.
00:13:01.040 Are you looking to align your investments with your conservative values and take more control over your investment choices?
00:13:06.380 Many investors don't realize they can influence company policies such as DEI, CRT, and ESG by exercising shareholder proxy voting
00:13:13.540 and by reducing their investments in companies that don't share their conservative values.

00:13:53.900 This is a paid endorsement, and I am not a client of the firm.
00:13:56.620 All right, it will be a very abbreviated headline segment today and an abbreviated show
00:14:02.520 because I have to make the walk over to the set to start our inauguration coverage.
00:14:07.640 Also, nobody's watching the show today because everyone's watching the inauguration coverage, which is fine.
00:14:14.000 I get it.
00:14:14.600 You know, I don't hold it against you.
00:14:17.520 So, anyway, yes, we are in D.C. right now, which explains the different set behind me.
00:14:22.820 And it's been a pretty interesting experience, very surreal.
00:14:25.880 The whole city is shut down, and all the streets around the hotel we're staying are closed off.
00:14:30.700 You know, so you go outside.
00:14:31.540 There are no cars driving around.
00:14:32.620 You've got to walk through checkpoints and everything.
00:14:36.980 And, you know, I've never been in D.C. at the time of inauguration before.
00:14:41.720 I've heard that this is the level of security has ramped up considerably from previous years.
00:14:46.520 I don't know if that's the case or not.
00:14:48.660 And meanwhile, all the people who are in town right now are conservatives, you know, MAGA people for the inauguration,
00:14:54.260 which is also a bit surreal.
00:14:58.040 Everywhere I go, I'm running into people who are fans of the Daily Wire, which is great.
00:15:03.820 But it's a very different vibe from what you're used to when you go to D.C.
00:15:07.420 And, by the way, for those who have wondered, you know, I mentioned these fancy balls and dinners and things that I'm going to.
00:15:17.140 And I shared with you my deep concern, my deep worry that the fancy balls would get in the way of watching the Ravens game on Sunday night.
00:15:25.460 And, fortunately, we went to the one last night, and actually it was Brett Cooper's husband who had a game on his phone.
00:15:33.620 So I stood and watched the rest of the game on the phone and at the ball.
00:15:39.560 And, you know, we lost.
00:15:41.120 So I don't really want to talk about it.
00:15:42.420 The Ravens lost.
00:15:43.400 Two-point conversion dropped at the end of the game.
00:15:45.320 Absolute dagger.
00:15:46.100 So now I'm standing there in my tuxedo, and everyone is celebrating and in a great mood.
00:15:50.940 And I understand.
00:15:52.120 But I've just suffered this great trauma.
00:15:53.600 And I have to walk around and talk to people and act happy for the rest of the night.
00:15:59.120 And it was tough.
00:16:00.260 It was tough to put on a brave face.
00:16:01.840 But you do what you have to do.
00:16:04.660 And the other thing, too, is that when you go to these things, the music is so loud that you can't understand what anyone is saying.
00:16:09.160 So I'm having, you know, I probably had 300 conversations with people.
00:16:13.340 And I have no idea what was said on the other end of the conversation.
00:16:17.600 So they're saying something in a muffled voice because I can't hear it because of the music.
00:16:21.540 And my response is always, yeah, yeah.
00:16:24.180 Uh-huh, uh-huh, yeah.
00:16:25.700 So I was agreeing to things all night.
00:16:28.340 And I don't know what I agreed to.
00:16:30.440 For all I know, people were coming up to me and saying, hey, what do you think I sneak into your hotel room tomorrow night and murder you in your sleep?
00:16:37.840 Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
00:16:39.440 Sounds good.
00:16:41.700 That's the way it goes.
00:16:42.300 But it was a great event.
00:16:43.000 It was a great event.
00:16:43.700 And things are not so great for our friends on the left, though, which leads us to this one headline that I wanted to read because this is the last day that will be even remotely relevant.
00:16:54.360 This is from the Daily Wire.
00:16:55.360 Protesters at the Women's March in Washington, D.C. argued that Donald Trump presents a serious threat to women's rights and American freedoms, but failed to provide concrete examples of how the president-elect will actually do that.
00:17:08.640 The Daily Wire attended the Women's March on Saturday morning in the nation's capital, where thousands of anti-Trump and left-leaning protesters gathered to voice their opinions on a wide variety of topics.
00:17:18.720 Trump himself, abortion, transgender issues, immigration, climate change, and more.
00:17:22.260 And I just want to play you some of the conversation that the Daily Wire reporters had with the women who were at the Women's March.
00:17:32.920 You might not have even known that there was another Women's March.
00:17:36.120 I'm in D.C., and I didn't know that it happened.
00:17:39.940 It apparently happened not far from our hotel, and I had no idea that this was even going on, which gives you an idea of the size of this thing, which is that it was not very sizable at all.
00:17:50.060 In 2016, they claimed that there was a million people who showed up.
00:17:57.540 Reportedly, it drew a million people in, well, 2017, you know, in January of 2017.
00:18:02.240 And I don't know if it was really a million.
00:18:03.620 I think they probably inflated that number.
00:18:05.940 But it was a lot.
00:18:07.160 I mean, hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people showed up in 2017 after Trump was sworn in, you know, for the first Women's March.
00:18:14.960 And it was a massive, massive outcry, right?
00:18:20.060 And backlash against Trump's victory.
00:18:25.060 This time, they drew, you know, a few thousand.
00:18:31.220 I mean, it had to be a tenth of what they had, maybe even less than that.
00:18:35.420 So here are some of the conversations they had with these activists trying to explain why they were out protesting Trump.
00:18:43.940 How do you feel about Trump being inaugurated this weekend?
00:18:47.620 I think that Trump is chaotic, and I have no idea what he really is doing.
00:18:52.300 He's trying to keep the country in a bit of chaos, and this is one more thing to attack women.
00:18:57.320 I am actually, I identify myself as worshiping Jesus.
00:19:01.560 And I'm all about the fact that Jesus gave us all brains and hearts so that we can care for each other.
00:19:06.840 So what is your biggest concern about him becoming president?
00:19:11.700 Is there a right that you're worried that he's going to take away from you?
00:19:14.000 The hateful speech that he promotes.
00:19:15.840 It's disgusting.
00:19:17.320 It disgusts me for my children and my grandchildren now.
00:19:20.400 And it's disheartening to me as a woman and a person in this country.
00:19:25.420 We should be better than that.
00:19:27.100 And you're here today.
00:19:28.040 Pussies against patriarchy.
00:19:29.600 A lot of fun.
00:19:30.620 Yeah.
00:19:30.920 Thank you.
00:19:31.560 All right.
00:19:31.840 Thanks.
00:19:32.600 Be glad we want equality and not revenge.
00:19:35.280 Oh my gosh, that scares me a little bit.
00:19:37.880 Tell us about that.
00:19:39.020 What does that mean?
00:19:41.820 Just, you know, with all the things going on with Roe v. Wade, we just want that.
00:19:48.040 Can we ask you about your flag?
00:19:50.600 Ask you?
00:19:51.560 What does it say?
00:19:52.060 Elect a clown, expect a circus.
00:19:54.200 Tell us about this.
00:19:55.020 He was really disorganized coming in the first time, and it's all about fame and fortune for him.
00:19:59.720 So I don't expect a lot of organization.
00:20:03.080 I mean, he's got a few good people he's picked for his cabinet.
00:20:05.780 But how do you feel about Donald Trump?
00:20:07.240 And what are you worried about for this next administration?
00:20:11.880 I just don't like him as a person.
00:20:15.180 And I feel like what he represents is not aligning with what we need for this country.
00:20:22.140 Yeah, you know, low energy, I got to say.
00:20:28.620 It's very low energy.
00:20:31.020 And it really is fascinating because in 2016, again, you know, there were hundreds of thousands of enraged protesters.
00:20:40.500 People screaming in the streets and crying.
00:20:45.300 And we all remember the now iconic legendary figure of the woman on her knees screaming no into the sky, you know, cursing the gods for having done this to her.
00:20:58.000 And so far, nothing like that has happened in response to Trump's victory this time around.
00:21:09.740 Now you have this small collection of people who seem like they showed up more out of a sense of obligation than out of actual passion, much less a real panic, you know.
00:21:20.380 So in 2016, it was Donald Trump is a fascist dictator.
00:21:24.780 He's going to enslave black people and women.
00:21:27.000 He's going to destroy the world.
00:21:28.140 And now, as we just heard, they're not saying that.
00:21:31.540 Instead, they're saying, oh, you know, I think he's a bit disorganized.
00:21:34.720 I think his organizational skills are not quite up to snuff.
00:21:40.000 So the signs that they're carrying are the same.
00:21:43.340 The signs, you know, and the banners that they're marching under are just as strident as they've always been.
00:21:48.980 But the people carrying the signs can't quite keep the act up.
00:21:53.480 They've run out of steam.
00:21:57.500 And I have to say that I'm surprised by that because I thought that there would be a nuclear explosion of feminist rage after Trump beat yet another female challenger.
00:22:12.060 I was expecting a Chernobyl-level radioactive feminist meltdown on the left.
00:22:17.800 And I think we all were.
00:22:19.000 I think we all were expecting that.
00:22:22.240 But so far, again, you know, this could change.
00:22:24.700 But so far, that just hasn't happened at all.
00:22:28.920 And so the question is, why not?
00:22:30.720 And I think it's a really interesting question.
00:22:32.460 Why haven't we seen this overwhelming outpouring of rage on the left at Trump?
00:22:43.080 And mainly, I think it's exhaustion.
00:22:46.980 I think that it's just not possible to sustain an emotional meltdown and a sense of chaotic panic for a full decade.
00:22:58.060 Because that's what we're looking at now.
00:22:59.500 I mean, Trump came on the political scene in 2015, 2025 now.
00:23:03.140 So now it's been a decade now.
00:23:05.200 And it's just not possible to keep that going emotionally for 10 years.
00:23:10.120 And this is the problem for the left, being an ideology that runs on emotion.
00:23:15.120 You know, the criticism of conservatives is that we put facts over feelings too much, that we don't connect on an emotional level with people enough.
00:23:24.000 Because for us, it's too much of just laying the facts out and shouting at you if you don't understand it and it's not resonating with you.
00:23:33.440 And I think that there's something to be said for that criticism.
00:23:36.680 And I'm, you know, I know that I'm, if there's a problem of erring too much on the side of not caring about feelings and caring too much about facts,
00:23:46.420 I know that I have erred in that direction quite a bit.
00:23:49.380 But on the other side, all they have are feelings.
00:23:55.000 All they have is this emotional response.
00:23:57.540 And that's not sustainable.
00:23:59.100 Because emotions cool.
00:24:01.640 Even hatred cools off.
00:24:05.320 Donald Trump is now a normal part of the political scene.
00:24:10.760 He has defined and dominated the political scene for nearly 10 years now.
00:24:16.500 And after a while, inevitably, people just kind of get used to it, get accustomed to it.
00:24:22.380 Even the people that don't like him.
00:24:24.980 He's just a normal part of the landscape.
00:24:28.560 And that's aside from the fact that he did well in his first term.
00:24:32.960 And so the dire predictions never really came to pass.
00:24:37.900 Even aside from that, you know, he's just, he's normal.
00:24:42.540 He's normal.
00:24:43.620 He's not, he's, it was easier to get people to panic and to react emotionally in a negative way against something that is not perceived as normal.
00:24:52.980 Something that is different.
00:24:54.240 You know, people are afraid of change and all of that, right?
00:24:57.680 It's a cliche, but it's true.
00:24:59.180 Well, now you have something that, it would be a change for Trump to not be a part of the political scene.
00:25:05.280 So I think, I think that's, that's part of it.
00:25:08.120 And, and, uh, the bigger problem, the deeper problem on the left is, um, the fracturing and the disarray that they have now.
00:25:22.280 Um, and, and, and even something like organizing a protest, a large protest is difficult to do when everybody is fractured.
00:25:31.820 And they're fractured because what is the democratic political project at this point?
00:25:39.740 What do they stand for?
00:25:41.880 Can they even answer that?
00:25:44.040 What do they want to achieve?
00:25:45.560 What are their goals?
00:25:47.780 I mean, I know their fundamental goal is to destroy Western civilization.
00:25:52.680 I know that, but they can't say that.
00:25:55.380 So from a public facing perspective, uh, what are their goals?
00:26:00.940 This is one thing that Trump, one of the, one of the, one of the things that Trump has always been very good at is laying out the goals in a really, in really clear language.
00:26:12.120 That's why like something as simple as build the wall, you know, it's just a, it's, it's a, it's a simple concept.
00:26:19.520 It makes it very clear.
00:26:20.400 You're going to go, this is one tangible thing that we want to do.
00:26:24.820 And, uh, and this is one of our goals.
00:26:27.220 It's a fundamental goal.
00:26:29.120 And that's, you know, secure the border law and order.
00:26:31.780 I mean, these are, these are simple, not, not to say simplistic, but just simple.
00:26:37.080 These are simple things that need to be done.
00:26:38.660 And so if anyone asks, well, like what are, what's, what's, uh, what do conservatives want?
00:26:44.300 What does Trump want?
00:26:45.660 What does the MAGA movement want?
00:26:48.020 You can start talking about it.
00:26:49.360 You can start laying it out because these things have been clearly, you might not agree with all of it, especially if you're on the left, but you know what those things are.
00:26:56.940 Um, but on the left, they don't, they don't have them.
00:27:01.040 Um, and, uh, and so that's, that's probably their, their fundamental basic problem.
00:27:08.240 That's, um, if they don't solve will mean that they'll hurdle even further into irrelevance over the coming years, which means that, you know, I hope, I certainly hope they don't solve it.
00:27:20.140 That's what I'm rooting for.
00:27:21.160 All right, let's move to the comment section.
00:27:23.160 If you're a man, it's required that you grow a bid.
00:27:26.400 Hey, we're the sweet baby gang.
00:27:30.440 Okay, a few comments here.
00:27:34.180 Uh, as a comic book reader, collector, the idea of bringing a comic into a sauna seems utterly abhorrent.
00:27:39.480 Is he trying to ruin all resale value?
00:27:41.660 Is that yet another flex of his?
00:27:43.460 Yeah, on Friday we played the video of the TikToker claiming that a white conservative man, quote unquote, made fun of his comic books in the sauna.
00:27:49.460 And you do bring up an interesting point.
00:27:50.920 Like, what kind of comic book fan are you if you bring one into the sauna?
00:27:53.720 It's all that moisture is going to ruin the, the, the comic book.
00:27:56.420 I wouldn't do that.
00:27:57.100 So apparently I'm a greater respecter of, uh, comic books than he is.
00:28:00.080 Um, I can't wait for the inevitable uproar from all the sauna enthusiasts.
00:28:06.680 It's definitely coming.
00:28:07.500 That did happen.
00:28:08.380 You know, I said I don't see the point of saunas.
00:28:10.840 And, because you're just sitting and you're hot and uncomfortable.
00:28:13.360 You're sitting in this torture chamber.
00:28:15.060 This, like, I don't, I don't, why?
00:28:18.180 It's not an enjoyable experience.
00:28:19.760 It's humid and hot.
00:28:20.860 Why would I want, why would I want that to just sit in that?
00:28:23.520 And that did provoke the ire of the sauna fans out there.
00:28:26.880 Um, and honestly, I didn't, I didn't know that there's some angry comments from people
00:28:31.920 who like saunas.
00:28:32.720 I did not know that saunas attracted that kind of loyalty, but actually one thing I've
00:28:36.400 learned over the years is that anytime you even mildly and unseriously and half jokingly
00:28:45.880 criticize anything at all, literally any single thing that you can think of, you will offend
00:28:51.860 some group of people who center their whole identity around that thing.
00:28:56.880 Whatever random, doesn't matter what it is, there's whatever random thing, behavior,
00:29:02.820 object that you make a critical comment of, you're going to find that there is some community
00:29:08.900 out there that to them, that thing is like everything.
00:29:14.520 Uh, and I, this is, this is the, it's one of the rakes that I find myself constantly stepping
00:29:19.400 on, uh, which is, which is fun.
00:29:21.900 Um, I travel for work, flying in the USA is awful.
00:29:26.520 The tickets are more expensive and you get less.
00:29:28.940 Even checking on a single bag costs extra money.
00:29:31.800 There aren't even meals or drinks during the flight and the tickets cost more than when
00:29:35.500 cost more than where there are drinks and food during the flight.
00:29:39.380 People are extremely slow.
00:29:40.560 Passengers take much longer to put a store their stuff and collect it before getting off.
00:29:44.920 The flight attendants are ugly, entitled, and unfriendly.
00:29:48.080 Security goes extremely slow and you have to take off your shoes.
00:29:50.680 In Asia, aside from Japan, I've never had to take off my shoes.
00:29:54.020 Nobody wears nice clothes to fly in the USA because the experience is so bad for the cost.
00:29:58.180 Everyone's angry at the airport because air travel in the USA is broken.
00:30:01.500 When flying in Asia, I wear a suit.
00:30:03.200 When flying in the USA, I wear a track suit and loose fitting shoes without laces.
00:30:06.740 For a country that claims to value hard work, productivity, and efficiency, air travel for
00:30:09.920 us is terrible, perhaps the worst in the world, though I've never flew in Africa and South
00:30:14.820 America.
00:30:17.720 I've heard this, that air travel in other countries is a much more pleasant and higher class experience.
00:30:27.440 I don't know.
00:30:28.220 The only thing that I can compare it to is my trip to Kenya when we filmed What is a Woman?
00:30:33.920 Aside from that, I haven't really traveled internationally except for Canada, which doesn't exactly count.
00:30:38.080 Now, I will say that when we went out to Kenya, we almost, almost ended up taking Kenya, I think
00:30:46.160 it was Kenya Airways or Kenya Airline or something, and we didn't do that.
00:30:52.580 We didn't pull that trigger, thank God.
00:30:54.080 I have a feeling that if we had, I would not have been thrilled with the travel experience.
00:30:57.860 Instead, though, we ended up on Qatar Airways, and to your point, I mean, obviously not an American
00:31:03.480 airline, and man, it was tremendous.
00:31:05.640 I mean, it really was.
00:31:07.100 It's like easily the nicest flying experience of my life, like a mini vacation, just being on the
00:31:12.220 flight.
00:31:14.380 And if the, if that's generally what flying internationally is like, then yes, I think
00:31:21.600 that your point is correct.
00:31:23.900 Finally, Matt says he's okay with comic books because he doesn't want to get in trouble with
00:31:27.400 Ben.
00:31:27.760 He says they're legitimate forms of art, implying it's okay for adult men to like them, but
00:31:32.220 then rants about video games being only for children, implying video games aren't an art
00:31:35.980 form, which is absurd.
00:31:38.140 Many video games have given us far more compelling stories and narratives than most garbage Hollywood
00:31:42.940 movies of the past 20 years.
00:31:44.700 Yeah, you're right.
00:31:45.540 You know, I said I'm okay with comic books as an art form so that I don't get in trouble
00:31:50.060 with Ben because they would have fired me.
00:31:52.360 They would have fired me for my, for being anti-comic book on the spot.
00:31:55.640 That would have been it.
00:31:56.660 That would be it.
00:31:58.140 You know, that's true.
00:32:00.440 You're right.
00:32:01.120 Because in fact, just as you suspect, uh, and you know, um, any opinion that I have that
00:32:07.920 you don't like is only because I'm forced to say it.
00:32:12.460 So I don't get fired.
00:32:13.760 Otherwise, how could I possibly believe anything that you individually yourself don't believe
00:32:19.440 it's impossible.
00:32:22.200 No, you're right.
00:32:23.280 Like no human being could ever disagree with you sincerely on anything.
00:32:28.360 It's not like I actually have my own views on things and they just might not line up with
00:32:32.780 yours.
00:32:33.780 No, your intuition is correct.
00:32:35.680 That, uh, everyone in the world agrees with you about everything.
00:32:39.380 And if they don't, it's only because they've been bought off.
00:32:43.020 They're a sellout that there there's, there's literally never been a single instance of a
00:32:48.000 human being sincerely and honestly disagreeing with you about anything, even on the smallest,
00:32:54.000 most low stake topic like, uh, comic books or video games.
00:32:58.300 So you're, you're right.
00:32:59.900 Anytime.
00:33:00.980 This is certainly another thing that I've learned.
00:33:02.800 Anytime I have an opinion on any individual topic, no matter how small and irrelevant it
00:33:08.460 is, uh, if that conflicts with anyone else, then it's only because I'm a sellout and I'm
00:33:14.480 being paid.
00:33:15.320 Someone's paying me.
00:33:16.860 There's some dastardly scheme.
00:33:18.800 There's someone, uh, in a, in a dimly lit room, smoking a cigar and stroking a cat telling
00:33:24.440 me to say whatever that thing was.
00:33:26.480 And in this case, it's comic books.
00:33:28.880 So you caught me.
00:33:30.840 Today's the day, folks.
00:33:31.860 Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

00:34:06.520 Now let's get to our daily cancellation.
00:34:13.980 Less than two years ago, the manager of the Village People reportedly sent a cease and
00:34:18.320 desist letter to Donald Trump's lawyer.
00:34:20.340 The manager, Karen Willis, the wife of one of the group's members, was supposedly upset
00:34:25.020 that Trump had been filmed dancing to Macho Man at Mar-a-Lago.
00:34:30.060 As Rolling Stone reported at the time, quote, the Village People are once again asking Donald
00:34:33.340 Trump to stop using their music.
00:34:35.300 Now, who knows if that story is true or not.
00:34:37.240 It's in Rolling Stone, so honestly, it's probably completely made up.
00:34:39.980 But just for a moment, for the purpose of this segment anyway, let's pretend that it's
00:34:43.620 accurate.
00:34:44.260 From a practical perspective, the story makes sense.
00:34:47.360 The Village People are basically gay icons.
00:34:49.600 By design, they produce gay anthems.
00:34:52.420 And according to MSNBC, Donald Trump wants to throw all the gay people into camps.
00:34:57.840 So how can the Village People possibly tolerate any affiliation or applied affiliation with
00:35:04.220 the orange Hitler who wants to imprison and torture all the gay people and every other
00:35:08.400 minority as well?
00:35:09.560 With that in mind, it'd be hard to think of a better illustration of Donald Trump's political
00:35:13.920 comeback than the scene last night at Capital One Arena in Washington where Trump was holding
00:35:19.620 a victory rally.
00:35:21.020 And after he was done speaking, the Village People themselves got up on stage with him.
00:35:27.240 And this is what that looked like.
00:35:29.560 And this is what that looked like.
00:35:59.560 Now, apparently, we're not supposed to read this moment as an endorsement of Donald Trump
00:36:16.780 by the Village People.
00:36:17.560 On Facebook, one of the group's members, the guy who plays the cop, put out a whole statement
00:36:22.060 about this, which is kind of entertaining to read, if only because he clearly wants to
00:36:25.820 pacify the group's more militant fans, because apparently this group has militant fans.
00:36:31.860 But he's not quite sure how to do it.
00:36:33.360 Here's part of it.
00:36:34.080 Quote, our performances are not an endorsement of the president-elect's policies.
00:36:37.800 Having said that, we do support that we have a new president now.
00:36:40.520 It wasn't the LGBTQ community that made YMCA great again by pushing the song to number
00:36:45.200 one for five weeks on a billboard chart.
00:36:47.340 Five weeks at number one.
00:36:48.660 It wasn't the African-American community that did that either.
00:36:51.020 Janet Jackson has a song that says,
00:36:52.560 I know you may have done some things for me in the past, but what have you done for me
00:36:56.200 lately?
00:36:57.060 Well, one man has done a lot for the Village People lately.
00:36:59.800 His name is Donald Trump.
00:37:02.380 So I guess they're endorsing the idea that we have a new president.
00:37:06.340 And, you know, but the idea is he's endorsing the fact we have a new president, but not the
00:37:12.020 president himself.
00:37:12.620 But at the same time, they are kind of endorsing Trump because he's made them a lot of money
00:37:17.780 lately.
00:37:18.580 And so at least there's some honesty there.
00:37:21.140 I don't know.
00:37:21.760 Even so, obviously, the fact that these people were willing to appear on stage, even if the
00:37:27.220 PR cleanup effort is hilariously clumsy, the fact that they were willing to appear on stage
00:37:34.440 is a pretty big sign that Donald Trump is far more mainstream now than he was just a few
00:37:38.640 years ago.
00:37:39.960 And more importantly, it's a sign that his rallies are, you know, fun for a very wide
00:37:45.060 array of people in the audience.
00:37:47.740 People are excited about his administration, even if they're not hardcore Trump supporters.
00:37:52.440 And that's why yesterday's rally produced this image, which will probably appear in history
00:37:56.080 books at some point in the future, if people still read books in the future.
00:37:59.860 It's what it looks like.
00:38:00.780 It's the perfect image for demonstrating how badly Democrats have, you know, played their
00:38:05.480 political hand.
00:38:06.120 And they have managed to lose the village people.
00:38:09.880 In fact, the village people have gone from sending Donald Trump threatening legal letters
00:38:14.340 to partying with him on stage.
00:38:16.960 And they're not the only ones.
00:38:18.080 I mean, there are many examples of this kind of thing this time around.
00:38:22.300 For example, for his part, Snoop Dogg has had a similar arc.
00:38:26.460 He's gone from acting out Trump's assassination in a music video and lashing out at anyone who performs
00:38:33.220 his inauguration to actually performing at one of Trump's inaugural balls the other day.
00:38:37.980 As USA Today reports, quote, the rapper 53 on Friday performed at an event in Washington,
00:38:42.060 D.C. where cryptocurrency executives celebrated the inauguration of President-elect Donald
00:38:45.360 Trump.
00:38:46.060 The inaugural Crypto Ball, held at the Andrew W.
00:38:49.020 Mellon Auditorium, billed itself on his website as an event intended to honor the 60th
00:38:53.980 presidential inauguration, America's first crypto president, President-elect Donald J.
00:38:59.200 Trump, his incoming administration.
00:39:01.300 The event did not feature an appearance from the president-elect himself, but Trump's incoming
00:39:05.420 cryptozar, David Sachs, served as emcee for the gala.
00:39:09.560 So, here's a little before and after of Snoop Dogg's views on performing at Donald Trump's
00:39:15.760 inauguration, and this is less than 10 years apart.
00:39:22.780 So, ain't nobody gonna perform for Donald Trump, huh?
00:39:26.480 Which one of you, Jigaboo, gonna be the first one to do it?
00:39:31.200 I'm waiting.
00:39:31.880 I'm gonna roast the f*** out of one of you, Uncle Tom, for doing it.
00:39:37.100 Which one of you, f***, gonna do it first?
00:39:38.700 At about noon, just thought that I had to be a cop and son.
00:39:42.580 I gotta get to it before the day begins, before my mother starts.
00:39:47.040 About my friends, but I'm not going to go in there.
00:39:51.080 Again, it's not hard to see why this is happening.
00:39:54.000 I mean, it's, I mean, this is, we're talking about dramatic change, of course, but it's
00:40:00.600 not hard to see why.
00:40:01.520 It's the same reason that tech executives like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are going
00:40:05.640 to Mar-a-Lago.
00:40:06.240 It's also the same reason Donald Trump received a much larger percentage of the youth vote
00:40:10.580 than any Republican candidate in recent history.
00:40:14.420 Conservatives are now in a highly unusual spot, historically speaking.
00:40:17.540 Conservatives are now seen, correctly, as far more interesting and engaging and entertaining
00:40:23.880 than their opponents.
00:40:26.140 They don't stand for censorship or political oppression.
00:40:29.220 They stand for free thought.
00:40:30.780 They stand for having families, enjoying life, you know, having a prosperous life, rather than
00:40:39.700 constantly dwelling on self-pity and feigned grievances.
00:40:42.740 And as a result of that, they can have fun.
00:40:47.580 Instead of making up threats to democracy and talking about Hitler, this is what was happening
00:40:52.920 at Capital One Rally last night.
00:40:54.540 Watch.
00:40:55.800 Sorry, little X just followed me on the stage here.
00:40:58.460 He's a very enthusiastic supporter, as you can see.
00:41:03.000 Woo!
00:41:04.000 Yeah!
00:41:09.680 So, we're looking forward to making a lot of changes.
00:41:17.100 And, you know, this victory is the start, really.
00:41:24.400 So, the Republican Party is succeeding right now, in some respects, because of moments like
00:41:28.540 this.
00:41:29.260 Democrats resent happiness.
00:41:30.900 They certainly resent children, and Republicans don't.
00:41:34.100 There's evidence that, at some level, Democrat voters understand this.
00:41:37.960 Over at CNN, for example, they just ran this report.
00:41:40.020 Quote, in the wake of the 2024 election, most supporters of the Democrat Party say that
00:41:44.380 it needs to make significant changes, and that they feel burned out by politics.
00:41:48.120 According to a new CNN poll, the party faces its lowest ratings in more than 30 years.
00:41:53.540 The report continues, quote, a 58% majority of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents
00:41:57.840 say the Democratic Party needs major changes or to be completely reformed, up from just
00:42:02.680 34%, who said the same after the 2022 midterm elections, when the party retained control of
00:42:08.460 the Senate but lost the House.
00:42:09.940 Over that time, the share of Republicans and Republican leaners who feel the same about the
00:42:13.440 GOP has ticked downward from 38% to 28%.
00:42:17.180 Now, one reason for these numbers is that there's apparently a very real sense among Democrats
00:42:22.900 that their elected representatives are useless.
00:42:24.700 They spend all their time regulating speech and jailing their political enemies, even as
00:42:29.240 inflation spirals out of control and people's lives get noticeably worse.
00:42:32.880 Quote, only 49% of Democratic-aligned adults say they expect their party's congressional representatives
00:42:37.920 to be even somewhat effective at resisting GOP policies.
00:42:41.120 While more than 9 in 10 Republican-aligned adults expect their party's congressional representatives,
00:42:46.320 who now control both chambers of Congress, to be at least somewhat effective at passing
00:42:50.760 new laws to enact their agenda.
00:42:53.020 That's a pretty stark difference.
00:42:54.960 Less than half of Democrats think their elected officials are going to do anything productive,
00:42:58.500 while 90% of Republican voters think their officials will be productive.
00:43:02.860 Now, of course, that doesn't mean that Republican politicians will be productive.
00:43:05.840 It doesn't mean that they'll actually accomplish anything over the next four years, and that
00:43:11.120 remains to be seen, but there's at least some hope and optimism in that direction.
00:43:16.400 Instead, what these figures demonstrate is the same thing we saw at the inauguration parties
00:43:20.480 this weekend, which is that the Democrat Party is in shambles, and the Republican Party is
00:43:25.680 mainstream for the first time in decades.
00:43:28.400 In modern history, there has never been a time to be more optimistic about the future of the
00:43:36.000 conservative movement.
00:43:37.360 Right now, millions of people are inspired, even the village people of all people.
00:43:43.600 Meanwhile, over on the Democrat Party, they're seething, and they're scrambling to pick up the
00:43:52.080 pieces.
00:43:52.300 And that is why, in a very real sense, the increasingly unpopular and despondent Democratic Party is
00:43:57.660 today, though certainly not permanently, at least for now, canceled.
00:44:03.360 That'll do it for the show today.
00:44:04.140 Thanks for watching.
00:44:04.640 Thanks for listening.
00:44:05.220 Talk to you tomorrow.
00:44:06.260 Have a great day.
00:44:07.100 Godspeed.
