00:01:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, so-called public health authorities want us to stop eating meat to save the planet.

00:01:05.240 Some of them have even said that we should be involuntarily infected with something that makes us allergic to meat.

00:01:09.800 And now, what do you know, lots of people are contracting an allergy to meat.

00:01:13.480 You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to wonder about this.

00:01:16.280 We'll tell you what we know, what we don't about all this today.

00:01:19.400 Also, a man in Michigan is facing charges for shooting a burglar who broke into his garage.

00:01:24.620 The movie industry is suffering through what may go down as its worst year ever.

00:03:17.700 In the summer of 2024, a 47-year-old airline pilot from New Jersey

00:03:22.120 was camping with his wife and children.

00:03:24.540 After eating a beef steak for dinner,

00:03:27.280 he awoke in the middle of the night with stomach pains,

00:03:29.180 along with other symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea.

00:03:31.880 In the end, his symptoms cleared up.

00:03:33.960 And he decided against going to a doctor,

00:03:35.780 even though earlier in the summer,

00:03:37.380 he had told his wife about the presence of 12 tick bites on his ankles.

00:03:41.080 And whatever those ticks had done,

00:03:43.180 the airline pilot concluded,

00:03:45.480 it probably wasn't life-threatening.

00:03:47.780 And then, just two weeks later,

00:03:49.100 the man attended a barbecue with his wife,

00:03:51.080 where he ate a hamburger,

00:03:51.980 and within four hours,

00:03:53.420 he was unconscious on the floor of his bathroom.

00:03:55.720 Paramedics tried to revive him,

00:03:57.300 but it was too late.

00:03:58.520 He was dead.

00:03:59.840 Now, initially, the death was recorded as unexplained,

00:04:02.180 but the man's doctor wasn't happy with that explanation,

00:04:05.340 so he sent his blood work to an allergy specialist

00:04:07.660 who quickly identified the cause.

00:04:09.920 The airline pilot had contracted a tick-borne meat allergy

00:04:12.520 known as alpha-gal syndrome, or AGS,

00:04:15.940 which, until this particular case,

00:04:17.760 was not considered fatal.

00:04:19.440 In fact, you'll find plenty of scientific journal articles

00:04:22.060 referring to AGS as a non-fatal allergy,

00:04:24.900 but this 47-year-old airline pilot,

00:04:26.660 for the first time in record history,

00:04:28.180 had proven otherwise.

00:04:30.120 He became the first reported fatality of AGS

00:04:33.680 anywhere in the world.

00:04:35.400 Watch.

00:04:36.900 This allergy to meat, including beef, lamb, and pork,

00:04:40.400 tonight is linked to its first death.

00:04:42.860 A 47-year-old New Jersey man ate a burger in 2024

00:04:46.340 and died four hours later.

00:04:49.180 Two weeks earlier, he got sick after eating a steak.

00:04:52.540 It really illustrates the need for education

00:04:55.720 because when he had the very severe episode

00:04:59.280 of abdominal pain,

00:05:00.920 they had no sense that that could be anaphylaxis.

00:05:04.320 University of Virginia's Dr. Thomas Platts Mills

00:05:07.400 identified the death and the allergy behind it.

00:05:11.080 It's called alpha-gal syndrome.

00:05:13.620 It usually starts with a bite from a lone star tick

00:05:16.380 that sensitizes a person's immune system

00:05:19.080 to a sugar molecule found in the meat of mammals

00:05:21.920 called alpha-gal.

00:05:23.620 Reactions can include hives, nausea,

00:05:26.280 and life-threatening anaphylaxis.

00:05:29.000 Debbie Nickel lives with alpha-gal.

00:05:31.660 I would wake up in the middle of the night

00:05:32.900 with this extraordinary stomach pain.

00:05:35.100 One of 450,000 Americans

00:05:37.320 with the tick-induced meat allergy.

00:05:39.760 From the time of onset to my diagnosis in 2019,

00:05:43.020 it was probably 11 or 12 years.

00:05:45.020 And your doctor even went so far

00:05:47.020 as to remove your gallbladder?

00:05:49.040 That's correct.

00:05:49.780 So as you heard,

00:05:52.760 hundreds of thousands of people

00:05:53.880 are suffering from AGS,

00:05:55.260 otherwise known as the red meat allergy.

00:05:57.620 None of these hundreds of thousands of people

00:05:59.040 have died as a result of this allergy,

00:06:00.760 although they've had serious complications.

00:06:02.280 So a lot of important questions

00:06:03.680 need to be answered at this point,

00:06:05.580 starting with,

00:06:06.700 what, if anything,

00:06:07.660 was different about this particular victim?

00:06:10.020 How many more victims might be out there

00:06:11.920 who haven't been diagnosed

00:06:12.980 through a post-mortem allergy test?

00:06:15.760 In other words,

00:06:16.240 is he the only person who has died from it?

00:06:19.240 And maybe most importantly,

00:06:20.160 what exactly is AGS

00:06:21.160 and where did it come from?

00:06:23.220 Now, these are questions

00:06:24.000 that most medical professionals

00:06:25.340 can't begin to answer.

00:06:26.500 In surveys,

00:06:27.220 a majority of doctors report

00:06:28.400 they have no idea

00:06:29.360 how to diagnose or treat the disorder.

00:06:32.700 And it's not surprising

00:06:33.540 because alpha-gal syndrome

00:06:34.400 was discovered just a few decades ago

00:06:36.120 during clinical trials

00:06:37.100 for a drug

00:06:37.700 that was intended to treat cancer.

00:06:39.100 So here's the story of that discovery

00:06:40.680 as I understand it anyway.

00:06:43.260 Some patients enrolled

00:06:44.920 in the clinical trial

00:06:45.940 took the cancer drug

00:06:47.500 and then developed hives

00:06:49.460 immediately after receiving

00:06:50.480 the first IV dose.

00:06:52.480 The patients had somehow

00:06:54.140 developed antibodies

00:06:55.060 to the drug

00:06:56.140 before they ever took it.

00:06:57.160 It turns out

00:06:57.620 that these particular patients

00:06:58.580 were from the same area

00:07:00.320 of the country

00:07:01.140 where the Lone Star Tick

00:07:02.380 is common,

00:07:03.060 mainly the East

00:07:03.720 and South Central United States.

00:07:05.520 On top of that,

00:07:07.100 the researchers realized

00:07:08.020 that the cancer drug,

00:07:08.840 because it was grown

00:07:09.460 in mouse cells,

00:07:10.760 contained a sugar molecule

00:07:11.980 called alpha-gal,

00:07:13.300 which the Lone Star Tick

00:07:14.500 transmits to humans.

00:07:15.620 So it appeared

00:07:16.140 as though patients

00:07:17.480 had been bitten by ticks,

00:07:19.460 developed a sensitivity

00:07:20.320 to the sugar molecule,

00:07:22.380 and then overdosed

00:07:23.560 when the sugar molecule

00:07:24.520 was administered via an IV.

00:07:26.680 So to be clear,

00:07:27.980 alpha-gal is not man-made.

00:07:30.060 It's sugar that exists

00:07:31.380 in the cells of most mammals

00:07:33.400 with the exception of humans.

00:07:35.900 When it enters our body,

00:07:37.200 our immune system

00:07:38.120 treats it like a foreign pathogen 0.99

00:07:40.060 and triggers

00:07:40.640 a serious overreaction.

00:07:43.140 But you might wonder,

00:07:44.740 if alpha-gal has been around

00:07:46.200 for, you know,

00:07:47.200 zillions of years,

00:07:48.600 why exactly did it take

00:07:49.800 so long for scientists

00:07:50.760 to realize that ticks

00:07:51.900 can cause a meat allergy

00:07:53.380 by transmitting alpha-gal?

00:07:56.720 Well, the official explanation

00:07:57.800 is that normally

00:07:58.700 when you have

00:07:59.300 an allergic reaction,

00:08:00.180 the symptoms appear

00:08:00.800 pretty quickly.

00:08:02.060 If it gets sung by a bee,

00:08:03.040 for example,

00:08:03.480 you'll be showing symptoms

00:08:04.360 within two hours maximum.

00:08:06.860 But with alpha-gal,

00:08:07.740 it's different.

00:08:08.100 The sugar is stored in fat.

00:08:09.460 It takes a while

00:08:10.060 to digest the fat.

00:08:11.240 So you might eat a hamburger,

00:08:12.640 have no obvious reaction,

00:08:14.380 and then die 0.64

00:08:15.560 four hours later.

00:08:17.640 And given that time frame,

00:08:19.620 nobody would suspect

00:08:20.760 an allergic reaction

00:08:21.660 to a hamburger.

00:08:23.180 And it wasn't until

00:08:23.820 this cancer trial

00:08:24.560 where the drug

00:08:25.600 was administered by an IV

00:08:26.660 that the link

00:08:27.920 between alpha-gal

00:08:28.740 and the allergic reaction

00:08:29.960 became obvious.

00:08:31.500 So that's the

00:08:32.300 official explanation.

00:08:35.120 I have no reason

00:08:35.880 to doubt any of this

00:08:36.980 background information,

00:08:37.880 most of which I looked up

00:08:39.020 online last night,

00:08:39.960 admittedly.

00:08:40.980 I'm willing to accept

00:08:42.060 that in medicine,

00:08:43.020 significant discoveries

00:08:43.820 aren't easy.

00:08:44.560 Sometimes they happen

00:08:45.100 by chance.

00:08:45.660 Sometimes novel diseases

00:08:46.620 are discovered

00:08:47.240 while researchers

00:08:47.880 are working on

00:08:48.460 a completely separate

00:08:49.180 treatment.

00:08:49.640 All that stuff

00:08:50.080 does happen.

00:08:51.260 Of course,

00:08:51.560 it's also the case,

00:08:52.760 as we learned

00:08:53.600 during COVID,

00:08:54.880 that sometimes novel

00:08:55.880 diseases are created

00:08:57.360 under the same

00:08:58.800 circumstances.

00:08:59.980 And then there's

00:09:00.460 a massive cover-up

00:09:01.940 to prevent anyone

00:09:02.840 from learning the truth

00:09:04.180 in service

00:09:05.480 of a broader

00:09:06.060 political agenda.

00:09:08.160 But in general,

00:09:09.120 there's no evidence

00:09:09.680 that I can find

00:09:10.440 that would suggest

00:09:11.600 that AGS was just

00:09:13.180 invented in a lab

00:09:14.720 in the way that COVID was.

00:09:17.140 Now, at the same time,

00:09:18.300 there is very clear evidence

00:09:21.080 that some of the world's

00:09:22.320 leading scientists

00:09:23.180 want to spread AGS 0.89

00:09:25.500 as much as possible.

00:09:28.620 You don't need to be

00:09:29.440 a conspiracy theorist

00:09:30.260 to say that

00:09:31.320 because they've been

00:09:31.960 very open about this fact.

00:09:34.180 These scientists

00:09:34.820 want people

00:09:35.740 to get infected

00:09:36.500 with this meat allergy

00:09:37.940 so they stop eating meat

00:09:39.820 on the theory

00:09:40.640 that if people

00:09:41.100 stop eating meat,

00:09:41.980 then the climate

00:09:42.560 will stop changing

00:09:43.340 and the animals

00:09:44.380 will be saved

00:09:45.000 and we can all

00:09:45.680 live in paradise

00:09:46.260 or whatever.

00:09:47.900 Now, in a moment,

00:09:48.340 we'll go through

00:09:48.760 some of these

00:09:49.200 scientific papers

00:09:50.040 and public conferences

00:09:50.960 where scientists

00:09:51.700 have made this argument

00:09:52.820 as deranged

00:09:54.140 and unethical

00:09:54.820 as it obviously is.

00:09:57.100 But first,

00:09:57.740 I want to address

00:09:58.200 anyone who says

00:09:58.840 that, well,

00:10:00.000 you're venturing

00:10:00.620 into the realm

00:10:01.160 of conspiracy theories here.

00:10:03.300 I will acknowledge

00:10:04.000 that in an ideal world,

00:10:05.200 I wouldn't have to raise

00:10:06.480 any of these questions.

00:10:07.360 In an ideal world,

00:10:08.260 our public health establishment

00:10:09.440 would be completely trustworthy

00:10:10.780 and we'd have no reason

00:10:12.900 to think that they'd

00:10:13.680 lie to us

00:10:14.440 about their role

00:10:15.120 in the deaths

00:10:15.580 of innocent Americans

00:10:16.500 and the idea

00:10:18.060 that they would

00:10:18.660 try to spread something

00:10:20.240 intentionally,

00:10:21.200 get people infected.

00:10:22.960 In an ideal world,

00:10:23.860 it's like you wouldn't

00:10:24.640 even consider that.

00:10:25.920 It's crazy.

00:10:26.760 Crazy talk.

00:10:27.420 But we all remember COVID.

00:10:31.080 We all remember

00:10:31.680 how the corporate media

00:10:32.580 cited scientists

00:10:33.660 who insisted

00:10:34.140 the coronavirus

00:10:34.620 was not made in a lab.

00:10:36.020 We all remember

00:10:36.480 the relentless censorship

00:10:37.580 and we all remember

00:10:38.300 learning in the end

00:10:39.080 that the same scientists

00:10:40.400 who told us to shut up

00:10:41.580 were in fact

00:10:42.160 the ones who funded

00:10:43.020 the creation

00:10:43.580 of the virus in Wuhan.

00:10:45.520 Our scientific

00:10:46.160 and medical institutions

00:10:47.100 have been captured

00:10:48.420 by an ideology

00:10:49.180 that above all

00:10:49.960 has nothing to do

00:10:51.140 with public health.

00:10:51.740 This is an anti-human ideology.

00:10:55.640 This is the problem

00:10:56.080 when you have public health,

00:10:57.300 when quote unquote

00:10:57.860 public health

00:10:58.460 is captured by people

00:10:59.400 who are anti-human.

00:11:02.240 And what it's really about

00:11:03.400 is centralizing control

00:11:04.800 over world affairs.

00:11:05.700 That's why they didn't want

00:11:07.420 the WHO to be implicated

00:11:10.220 in COVID

00:11:10.660 even though they covered up

00:11:11.960 what China was doing.

00:11:12.980 That's why they implemented

00:11:13.620 mass lockdowns.

00:11:14.560 That's why they lied

00:11:15.160 about creating the virus

00:11:16.020 in China

00:11:16.400 with international funding.

00:11:18.020 And that's why

00:11:18.560 even though it's quite possible

00:11:19.800 there's nothing nefarious

00:11:20.720 about what just happened

00:11:21.500 in New Jersey

00:11:22.020 or about the fact

00:11:23.080 that this AGS syndrome

00:11:24.160 seems to be spreading

00:11:25.200 more and more recently.

00:11:27.060 It seems to be exploding.

00:11:29.240 It's possible

00:11:29.960 there's nothing nefarious about it.

00:11:31.820 You're still not crazy

00:11:33.000 if you think

00:11:33.860 that there might be

00:11:34.380 more to the story.

00:11:36.640 And you know

00:11:37.360 just asking questions

00:11:38.640 gets a bad rap these days

00:11:39.860 but this is one of those times

00:11:42.000 when yeah

00:11:42.760 we should ask questions.

00:11:44.620 And that becomes

00:11:45.600 more true

00:11:46.420 and more apparent

00:11:46.980 when you listen

00:11:47.540 to what some of the

00:11:48.200 alleged experts

00:11:49.020 have been saying

00:11:49.820 about meat allergies

00:11:51.400 in particular.

00:11:53.000 So we'll start with the words

00:11:53.720 of Matthew Lau

00:11:55.000 the bioethics expert

00:11:56.500 who worked at NYU

00:11:57.720 Oxford, Hopkins

00:11:59.040 Georgetown

00:12:00.320 and Princeton.

00:12:02.000 So his work

00:12:02.940 has heavily influenced

00:12:04.020 the World Economic Forum

00:12:05.000 as well.

00:12:05.580 This is not just

00:12:06.120 some random guy.

00:12:08.220 In papers

00:12:08.960 as well as public appearances

00:12:09.880 Lau has advocated

00:12:10.740 for artificially inducing

00:12:12.320 meat intolerance

00:12:13.480 as a way to prevent

00:12:14.580 the weather

00:12:15.260 from changing.

00:12:16.520 Watch.

00:12:16.940 I want to consider

00:12:19.300 a class of solutions

00:12:21.020 that have never

00:12:22.240 been considered before.

00:12:24.780 Human engineering.

00:12:26.820 It involves

00:12:27.900 the biomedical

00:12:28.660 modification

00:12:29.520 of human beings.

00:12:31.500 I'll give four examples.

00:12:33.040 Here's one.

00:12:34.960 18% of greenhouse

00:12:36.480 gas emissions

00:12:37.360 come from

00:12:38.320 livestock farming.

00:12:39.920 So if we eat

00:12:40.980 less meat

00:12:41.640 we could significantly

00:12:43.020 reduce our

00:12:43.880 greenhouse gas emissions.

00:12:45.340 Now some people

00:12:48.500 would be willing

00:12:49.840 to eat less meat

00:12:51.000 but

00:12:52.100 they lack

00:12:52.800 the willpower.

00:12:54.940 Human engineering

00:12:56.160 could help.

00:12:59.360 Just as some people

00:13:01.160 are naturally

00:13:02.360 intolerant

00:13:03.360 to milk

00:13:04.320 or crayfish

00:13:05.360 like myself

00:13:06.340 we could

00:13:07.700 artificially induce

00:13:09.260 mild intolerance

00:13:10.680 to meat.

00:13:12.820 By stimulating

00:13:14.300 our immune system

00:13:15.520 against common

00:13:16.540 bovine proteins.

00:13:19.120 And in this way

00:13:19.760 we can create

00:13:20.480 an aversion

00:13:21.080 to eating

00:13:21.960 eco-unfriendly food.

00:13:24.160 And we can do this

00:13:25.120 for example

00:13:25.760 by having

00:13:27.260 meat patches.

00:13:29.160 Kind of like

00:13:29.700 nicotine patches.

00:13:31.460 People can then

00:13:32.220 wear these patches

00:13:33.040 before they go out

00:13:34.000 for dinner

00:13:34.460 to curb their

00:13:35.440 enthusiasm

00:13:36.120 for eating meat.

00:13:37.200 So the crowd's

00:13:40.600 into it.

00:13:41.180 It's apparently

00:13:41.620 a real crowd pleaser

00:13:42.680 to talk about

00:13:43.260 genetically modifying

00:13:44.220 humans

00:13:44.600 so they don't

00:13:45.080 want meat.

00:13:45.660 In that clip

00:13:46.080 as you saw

00:13:46.720 it talks about

00:13:47.560 creating nicotine

00:13:48.340 style pouches

00:13:49.280 for people

00:13:49.740 who eat meat

00:13:50.460 meaning

00:13:50.820 pretty much

00:13:52.140 every human

00:13:52.700 alive would have

00:13:53.500 to have this patch.

00:13:54.300 But in other clips

00:13:55.160 you'll hear

00:13:55.420 these scientists

00:13:55.880 directly refer

00:13:56.580 to the Lone Star

00:13:57.520 Tick

00:13:58.000 as one way

00:13:59.800 of shutting

00:14:00.820 down meat

00:14:01.320 consumption.

00:14:02.220 Watch.

00:14:03.480 So I'll give

00:14:04.280 two examples.

00:14:05.060 So one is that

00:14:06.400 people eat

00:14:07.560 too much meat

00:14:08.220 and if they

00:14:09.480 were to cut

00:14:10.020 down on their

00:14:10.520 consumption

00:14:10.960 on meat

00:14:11.560 then it would

00:14:13.400 actually really

00:14:14.020 help the planet.

00:14:15.420 But people

00:14:16.160 are not willing

00:14:16.880 to give up meat.

00:14:17.920 Some people

00:14:18.600 will be willing

00:14:19.200 to but other

00:14:19.900 people

00:14:20.380 they may be

00:14:21.400 willing to

00:14:21.860 but they

00:14:22.300 have a weakness

00:14:23.260 of will.

00:14:23.740 They say

00:14:24.000 wow this steak

00:14:25.000 is just too juicy

00:14:25.920 I can't do it.

00:14:26.560 I'm one of those

00:14:27.380 by the way.

00:14:28.860 So here's a thought.

00:14:30.820 So it turns out

00:14:31.540 that we know

00:14:31.960 a lot about

00:14:32.440 we have these

00:14:33.860 intolerance

00:14:34.860 so for example

00:14:37.040 I have milk

00:14:37.520 intolerance

00:14:38.140 and some people

00:14:40.100 are intolerant

00:14:40.700 to crayfish

00:14:41.500 so possibly

00:14:42.600 we can use

00:14:43.240 human engineering

00:14:44.320 to make it

00:14:45.320 the case

00:14:45.800 that we're

00:14:46.200 intolerant

00:14:46.680 to certain

00:14:47.040 kinds of meat

00:14:47.660 to certain

00:14:48.200 kinds of

00:14:48.560 bovine proteins

00:14:50.320 and there's

00:14:50.900 actually analogs

00:14:52.100 of this in life.

00:14:52.800 There's this thing

00:14:53.240 called the

00:14:53.520 long star tick

00:14:54.400 where if it

00:14:55.320 bites you

00:14:55.900 you will become

00:14:56.820 allergic to meat.

00:14:58.040 I can sort of

00:14:58.680 describe the mechanism.

00:14:59.820 So that's something

00:15:00.720 that we can do

00:15:01.320 through human engineering.

00:15:02.460 We can kind of

00:15:03.400 possibly address

00:15:04.700 really big

00:15:05.340 world problems

00:15:06.100 through human

00:15:06.780 engineering.

00:15:09.380 So it might be

00:15:10.180 easy to dismiss

00:15:10.940 these suggestions

00:15:11.640 as the rantings

00:15:12.680 of a crackpot

00:15:13.340 but the truth is

00:15:14.160 this is not

00:15:15.420 a fringe view

00:15:16.120 among elites

00:15:16.760 or in the field

00:15:17.300 of bioethics.

00:15:18.020 For example

00:15:18.400 you'll find

00:15:18.860 this paragraph

00:15:19.480 right now

00:15:19.960 on the website

00:15:20.500 of the World Economic Forum

00:15:21.880 quote

00:15:23.080 making the transition

00:15:24.400 from mass produced

00:15:25.700 animal proteins

00:15:26.440 to plant based

00:15:27.640 alternatives

00:15:28.100 is not just

00:15:28.820 necessary to meet

00:15:29.580 population demands

00:15:31.000 the latter have

00:15:31.960 also been linked

00:15:32.640 with a smaller

00:15:33.320 carbon footprint

00:15:34.180 and a lower

00:15:35.140 disease risk.

00:15:36.400 It's not enough

00:15:36.880 though to produce

00:15:37.500 sustainable plant

00:15:38.400 based alternatives

00:15:39.220 but to alter

00:15:40.440 human perception

00:15:41.540 so that more

00:15:42.580 people are willing

00:15:43.900 to make the change.

00:15:46.300 Well that's a little

00:15:47.160 ominous.

00:15:48.340 It's not enough

00:15:48.840 to produce

00:15:49.280 alternatives

00:15:49.820 to meat

00:15:50.980 says the WEF

00:15:52.560 we have to

00:15:53.720 alter human

00:15:54.920 perception.

00:15:56.900 Presumably that

00:15:57.740 means we have to

00:15:58.400 beg people to eat 0.98

00:15:59.300 inedible garbage 0.99

00:16:00.100 like the impossible 0.95

00:16:01.040 burger and all that

00:16:02.220 stuff but what

00:16:03.420 happens when

00:16:03.860 those solutions

00:16:04.740 fail?

00:16:05.360 What happens

00:16:05.780 when the stock

00:16:06.620 of beyond meat

00:16:07.600 tanks by 80%

00:16:08.920 in one year

00:16:09.740 because your

00:16:10.580 plant based

00:16:11.340 solutions are

00:16:12.260 horrible and

00:16:12.980 nobody wants

00:16:13.580 them?

00:16:14.860 Is that the

00:16:15.700 point where

00:16:16.280 for the greater

00:16:16.960 good you start

00:16:17.860 forcing the issue?

00:16:20.560 Now there are

00:16:20.980 several prominent

00:16:21.680 experts in the

00:16:22.540 field of bioethics

00:16:23.420 who would answer

00:16:24.020 that question

00:16:24.680 in the affirmative

00:16:25.420 proudly.

00:16:27.320 Parker Crutchfield

00:16:28.300 is one of them.

00:16:28.960 He's a professor

00:16:29.400 at Western Michigan's

00:16:30.520 medical school.

00:16:31.080 This is a direct

00:16:31.740 quote.

00:16:32.220 from one of his

00:16:33.520 peer-reviewed

00:16:34.100 papers which was

00:16:34.740 written with a

00:16:35.300 co-author and

00:16:35.980 colleague named

00:16:36.600 Blake Harreth and

00:16:38.140 published just last

00:16:38.960 month.

00:16:39.720 The paper's called

00:16:40.420 and I promise

00:16:41.660 this is real.

00:16:44.100 The paper's called

00:16:44.700 Beneficial Blood

00:16:46.100 Sucking.

00:16:47.600 Here's how it 1.00

00:16:48.040 begins.

00:16:48.460 Quote,

00:16:49.200 The bite of the

00:16:49.760 lone star ticks

00:16:50.500 spreads alpha-gal

00:16:51.740 syndrome, AGS,

00:16:53.180 a condition whose

00:16:53.840 only effect is the

00:16:54.640 creation of a

00:16:55.140 severe but non-fatal

00:16:56.340 red meat allergy.

00:16:57.880 Public health

00:16:58.360 departments warn

00:16:59.020 against lone star ticks

00:17:00.060 and AGS and

00:17:00.740 scientists are working

00:17:01.300 to develop an

00:17:02.200 inoculation to AGS.

00:17:03.540 Herein, we argue

00:17:04.180 that if eating meat

00:17:05.360 is morally

00:17:05.800 impermissible, then

00:17:06.940 efforts to prevent

00:17:08.080 the spread of

00:17:08.840 tick-borne AGS are

00:17:10.160 also morally

00:17:11.200 impermissible.

00:17:12.600 Promoting tick-borne

00:17:13.480 AGS is strongly

00:17:14.880 pro-tanto obligatory.

00:17:17.860 It is presently

00:17:18.520 feasible to

00:17:19.360 genetically edit the

00:17:20.680 disease-carrying

00:17:21.380 capacity of ticks.

00:17:22.500 If this practice can

00:17:23.500 be applied to ticks

00:17:24.360 carrying AGS, then

00:17:25.860 promoting the

00:17:26.760 proliferation of 0.94

00:17:28.160 tick-borne AGS is

00:17:29.660 morally obligatory.

00:17:31.060 The article continues,

00:17:32.060 we should promote a

00:17:33.060 particular tick-borne

00:17:34.100 syndrome, alpha-gal

00:17:35.260 syndrome, AGS.

00:17:37.500 So yes, according to

00:17:38.780 Parker Crutchfield, who

00:17:39.860 teaches at a medical

00:17:40.640 school, we have a

00:17:42.080 moral obligation to

00:17:43.860 genetically modify

00:17:44.940 ticks so that they

00:17:46.700 spread AGS.

00:17:48.520 It is morally wrong to

00:17:51.580 stop the spread of AGS,

00:17:53.520 he says.

00:17:55.100 And notice what he

00:17:56.060 writes at the beginning.

00:17:56.700 He claims that AGS

00:17:58.160 creates a non-fatal

00:17:59.820 red meat allergy, and

00:18:00.920 therefore, in his view,

00:18:01.660 it's fine to spread it to

00:18:03.040 as many people as we

00:18:03.740 possibly can.

00:18:05.040 First of all, even if

00:18:05.820 AGS was indeed non-fatal,

00:18:07.440 this still wouldn't make

00:18:09.960 it any sense, nor would it

00:18:11.220 be remotely moral or

00:18:12.700 ethical.

00:18:13.780 You don't get to infect

00:18:14.740 people with life-altering

00:18:16.680 illnesses against their

00:18:17.880 will because you suffer

00:18:18.860 from delusions about how

00:18:19.940 red meat causes hurricanes

00:18:21.280 or something.

00:18:22.760 Obviously.

00:18:24.200 But Parker Crutchfield

00:18:24.820 disagrees.

00:18:25.360 So he wants to modify

00:18:26.620 the genetic code of

00:18:27.680 ticks so that they

00:18:28.860 spread the disease.

00:18:30.660 And he doesn't stop

00:18:31.520 there.

00:18:31.880 In a separate paper

00:18:32.520 written in 2019,

00:18:33.620 Crutchfield explains how

00:18:34.760 precisely he wants to

00:18:36.580 spread this allergy.

00:18:38.020 He doesn't want anyone

00:18:38.980 to know that it's

00:18:40.300 happening.

00:18:41.220 He wants it to take

00:18:42.060 place in secret so that

00:18:44.320 no one is aware of the

00:18:45.360 new pathogen until it's

00:18:46.280 too late.

00:18:46.840 Until, for example,

00:18:47.500 people start dropping

00:18:48.580 dead after eating a

00:18:49.640 hamburger.

00:18:50.640 So this is from another

00:18:51.700 Parker Crutchfield

00:18:52.700 article, a paper

00:18:54.580 entitled,

00:18:55.180 Compulsory Moral

00:18:56.340 Bioenhancement

00:18:57.500 Should Be Covert.

00:19:00.760 Quote,

00:19:01.320 Some theorists argue

00:19:02.340 that moral bioenhancement

00:19:04.240 ought to be compulsory.

00:19:05.860 I take this argument

00:19:06.920 one step further,

00:19:07.880 arguing that if moral

00:19:08.840 bioenhancement ought to

00:19:10.120 be compulsory,

00:19:11.300 then its administration

00:19:11.940 ought to be covert

00:19:13.360 rather than overt.

00:19:15.520 This is to say that it

00:19:16.780 is morally preferable

00:19:18.040 for compulsory moral

00:19:19.600 bioenhancement to be

00:19:21.080 administered without

00:19:21.860 the recipients knowing

00:19:22.900 that they're receiving

00:19:23.780 the enhancement.

00:19:25.020 In particular, a

00:19:25.820 covert compulsory

00:19:26.800 program promotes

00:19:27.760 values such as

00:19:28.740 liberty, utility,

00:19:30.400 equality, and autonomy

00:19:31.720 better than an overt

00:19:32.900 program does.

00:19:34.060 Thus, a covert

00:19:34.860 compulsory program

00:19:36.440 is morally preferable

00:19:38.040 to an overt moral

00:19:39.600 bioenhancement program.

00:19:41.780 Okay, so all of this

00:19:45.080 is very dystopian,

00:19:46.280 and it sounds almost

00:19:47.540 fake.

00:19:48.020 I mean, is this someone

00:19:51.340 who's actually arguing

00:19:52.400 that the moral way to...

00:19:55.340 First of all,

00:19:56.220 giving people a disease

00:19:57.080 is a bioenhancement,

00:19:58.760 and the most moral way

00:20:00.000 of doing it,

00:20:00.620 administering it,

00:20:01.300 is covertly,

00:20:02.540 meaning against their will.

00:20:03.620 And is he actually arguing

00:20:05.320 that that is the way

00:20:07.680 to respect their liberty

00:20:09.200 and privacy the most?

00:20:12.780 Because if you do something

00:20:13.800 to somebody against their will

00:20:15.100 without them knowing,

00:20:16.360 then you've respected their...

00:20:17.960 You haven't infringed

00:20:18.600 on their liberty

00:20:19.060 or freedom at all,

00:20:20.020 is his argument.

00:20:23.220 Is that actually real?

00:20:24.400 Well, yes, it is.

00:20:25.080 And at this point,

00:20:25.540 I decided to look up

00:20:26.380 some other writings

00:20:27.440 from Parker Crutchfield,

00:20:28.760 who, again,

00:20:29.600 teaches ethics

00:20:30.520 at a medical school.

00:20:33.340 On Amazon,

00:20:34.020 I came across this review

00:20:35.020 of his book,

00:20:35.520 quote,

00:20:35.700 This author is genuinely

00:20:36.940 dangerous and has no business

00:20:38.400 teaching impressionable minds.

00:20:39.980 The author believes

00:20:40.560 themselves to be

00:20:41.280 some arbiter

00:20:42.140 of moral authority,

00:20:43.080 and he has the right

00:20:44.060 to make decisions

00:20:44.700 for humanity

00:20:45.260 based on his twisted vision.

00:20:46.960 Everything Parker writes

00:20:47.840 is a confession.

00:20:49.540 Heed his words

00:20:50.120 because I suspect

00:20:50.780 a large portion of academia

00:20:52.060 actually agrees with him,

00:20:54.160 but to say the quiet part

00:20:55.440 out loud and proudly

00:20:56.440 is jarring to say the least.

00:20:58.560 The darkest of minds.

00:21:01.400 But again,

00:21:01.720 this particular academic

00:21:02.520 isn't the only person

00:21:03.840 saying things like this.

00:21:04.860 It's become fashionable

00:21:05.700 in leftist circles

00:21:06.480 to make this same argument.

00:21:08.740 This is a post I pulled

00:21:09.520 from Reddit, for example,

00:21:10.660 from seven years ago,

00:21:11.780 quote,

00:21:12.580 Modifying an insect's genome

00:21:14.080 so that it produces

00:21:14.820 alpha-gal in its saliva

00:21:16.660 is one of the simplest

00:21:17.520 genetic edits,

00:21:18.640 especially as ticks

00:21:19.480 and mammals

00:21:19.980 provide a genetic template.

00:21:22.180 Using this technology

00:21:22.980 to cause all

00:21:24.020 or the most common

00:21:25.000 biting insects

00:21:25.600 to cause meat allergies

00:21:26.760 would have numerous benefits,

00:21:28.200 including reduction

00:21:29.220 in meat consumption

00:21:30.020 in sufferers

00:21:30.660 and reduction

00:21:31.500 in greenhouse gas emissions.

00:21:33.360 Meat is a major

00:21:34.120 source of emissions.

00:21:36.340 Now, you might say

00:21:37.220 that Reddit

00:21:37.580 isn't much of a source

00:21:38.760 and we can't read

00:21:40.280 much into that post,

00:21:42.220 and you're right about that.

00:21:44.080 But the post made

00:21:45.380 one good point,

00:21:46.560 which is that

00:21:47.020 modifying a tick's genome

00:21:48.280 apparently isn't that difficult.

00:21:49.720 A few years ago,

00:21:50.340 researchers from Penn State

00:21:51.500 and University of Maryland

00:21:52.420 discovered a new way

00:21:53.720 to genetically modify ticks.

00:21:55.020 This is an article

00:21:55.600 from 2022

00:21:56.280 summarizing the findings,

00:21:57.660 quote,

00:21:58.240 Breakthrough makes

00:21:59.720 editing tick genome

00:22:00.820 a reality.

00:22:01.420 For the first time,

00:22:02.380 researchers have successfully

00:22:03.440 edited the tick genome

00:22:04.520 at the embryo stage,

00:22:05.880 an achievement

00:22:06.300 that may one day

00:22:07.320 help scientists

00:22:07.920 alter parts of the genome

00:22:09.080 responsible for ticks

00:22:10.040 acquiring and spreading

00:22:10.980 harmful pathogens.

00:22:12.120 Now, on the surface,

00:22:14.340 just like the research

00:22:15.040 that was going on

00:22:15.820 in Wuhan,

00:22:17.220 you know,

00:22:18.260 on the surface,

00:22:19.180 may sound well-intentioned

00:22:21.400 above board.

00:22:22.940 And they say

00:22:23.600 this is about

00:22:24.100 preventing the spread

00:22:25.560 of diseases.

00:22:26.380 Who wouldn't want to

00:22:27.420 prevent the spread

00:22:28.060 of diseases?

00:22:29.500 But you have to wonder

00:22:30.120 if there might be

00:22:30.740 some catastrophic

00:22:32.100 consequences

00:22:33.120 from messing around

00:22:34.280 with tick genomes,

00:22:35.860 especially given

00:22:36.920 the possible role

00:22:37.660 of scientific experiments

00:22:38.700 in creating Lyme disease

00:22:39.960 several decades ago.

00:22:40.920 Last year,

00:22:41.660 the HHS secretary,

00:22:42.680 RFK Jr.,

00:22:43.800 stated that gain-of-function

00:22:44.960 research is a disaster

00:22:46.220 that has, quote,

00:22:47.100 given us everything

00:22:47.720 from Lyme disease

00:22:48.540 to COVID

00:22:49.140 and many other diseases.

00:22:51.620 And of course,

00:22:52.080 for saying that,

00:22:52.740 RFK was labeled 0.82

00:22:53.660 a nut job.

00:22:54.580 And my goal here

00:22:55.140 is not to litigate

00:22:56.080 the question of

00:22:56.660 whether or not

00:22:57.160 Lyme disease

00:22:57.760 was created

00:22:58.260 by military experiments

00:22:59.840 in the 60s and 70s.

00:23:02.080 There's a book

00:23:02.760 on the topic

00:23:03.220 called Bitten

00:23:03.960 by Chris Newby

00:23:04.900 that outlines the case

00:23:05.940 for that theory

00:23:06.400 if you're interested

00:23:06.940 in the details.

00:23:08.240 For one thing,

00:23:08.740 it was awfully suspicious

00:23:10.340 that a U.S. government

00:23:11.440 facility conducting

00:23:12.300 biological experiments

00:23:13.360 called the Plum Island

00:23:15.000 Animal Disease Center

00:23:16.160 was located

00:23:17.280 less than 20 miles

00:23:18.540 from Old Lyme, Connecticut,

00:23:21.020 where the sudden explosion

00:23:22.660 of the disease took place.

00:23:23.760 So what does that

00:23:25.040 remind you of?

00:23:26.820 But regardless of

00:23:27.700 what you think about

00:23:28.340 the origins of Lyme disease,

00:23:29.560 my point is simply this.

00:23:31.740 When you have

00:23:32.460 an unexplained dead body

00:23:34.320 in a highly unusual circumstance,

00:23:35.840 one of the first questions

00:23:37.700 any good investigator

00:23:38.520 asks is

00:23:39.300 who had a motive

00:23:40.580 to kill this person?

00:23:42.680 And that's the case 0.98

00:23:43.480 with that airline pilot

00:23:44.560 in New Jersey.

00:23:45.680 He died

00:23:46.480 in an extraordinarily

00:23:47.280 unusual way

00:23:48.500 and several prominent

00:23:50.080 bioethics researchers

00:23:51.400 channeling the WEF

00:23:52.660 openly admitted

00:23:53.680 their motivation

00:23:54.380 to infect him,

00:23:55.820 to infect us

00:23:56.720 with the disorder

00:23:58.640 that led to his death.

00:24:00.940 Now,

00:24:01.460 that doesn't mean

00:24:01.860 they did it.

00:24:03.620 That also doesn't mean

00:24:04.740 that the ongoing

00:24:05.480 genetic experiments

00:24:06.300 on ticks,

00:24:06.880 which are taking place

00:24:07.440 all over the country,

00:24:08.740 had necessarily anything

00:24:09.780 to do with the man's death,

00:24:10.660 but it does mean

00:24:11.440 we're entitled

00:24:12.560 to a full explanation

00:24:13.460 on what exactly

00:24:14.420 these researchers

00:24:14.940 are doing to ticks

00:24:15.920 and what risks

00:24:17.180 these experiments pose

00:24:18.160 to the rest of us.

00:24:20.440 And there's been

00:24:21.260 very little transparency

00:24:22.280 about that.

00:24:23.660 The fact remains

00:24:24.500 that a large group

00:24:25.420 of very powerful leftists 1.00

00:24:26.720 would rather kill us 0.99

00:24:27.840 than allow us to eat meat. 0.99

00:24:29.660 I mean,

00:24:29.840 that's very simple.

00:24:32.200 They'd also rather

00:24:32.860 lie to us

00:24:33.640 than tell us

00:24:34.100 the truth

00:24:34.440 about their

00:24:34.860 scientific experiments,

00:24:36.380 whether those experiments

00:24:37.180 involve bats

00:24:38.040 or ticks

00:24:38.440 or anything else.

00:24:40.180 And in an environment

00:24:41.280 like that,

00:24:41.860 the words

00:24:42.180 conspiracy theorist

00:24:43.440 just have no meaning.

00:24:45.560 The complete erosion

00:24:46.620 of confidence

00:24:47.280 in our public health

00:24:48.100 authorities

00:24:48.540 has led us

00:24:49.740 to this point.

00:24:51.360 We should have

00:24:52.260 some degree of faith

00:24:53.660 that our public health

00:24:54.520 officials will actually

00:24:55.620 work to prevent

00:24:56.280 the spread of illnesses,

00:24:58.080 this illness in particular,

00:24:59.460 or any illness,

00:25:00.600 and to prevent

00:25:01.680 as many deaths

00:25:02.280 as they possibly can.

00:25:03.460 We should have

00:25:03.860 some confidence

00:25:04.460 that their research

00:25:05.240 is going to help people

00:25:06.240 rather than kill them,

00:25:07.140 but we don't have 0.98

00:25:08.140 that confidence.

00:25:09.640 We have no reason

00:25:10.680 to have that confidence.

00:25:13.380 Regardless of

00:25:14.080 who's responsible

00:25:14.740 for the new spread

00:25:15.540 of this latest disease,

00:25:16.840 if anyone's responsible,

00:25:19.140 we all know

00:25:19.760 that a lot of scientists

00:25:20.560 and experts

00:25:21.100 are actually happy

00:25:22.160 about the fact

00:25:22.700 that an innocent man

00:25:23.500 just died

00:25:24.000 because he ate a hamburger.

00:25:26.540 They're getting

00:25:27.100 all sorts of ideas

00:25:28.060 about how to save

00:25:28.820 the climate

00:25:29.240 and save the cows

00:25:30.280 and so on.

00:25:32.080 And after years

00:25:32.980 of lockdowns

00:25:33.760 and mass death

00:25:34.400 in this country,

00:25:35.220 we all know exactly

00:25:37.060 where those ideas

00:25:38.740 can lead.

00:25:40.960 Now let's get

00:27:26.300 slash Walsh.

00:27:28.000 Okay, the House

00:27:29.200 is going to vote today

00:27:29.900 on a bill that would

00:27:31.400 force the release

00:27:32.280 of the Epstein files

00:27:33.320 and I'll have more

00:27:33.980 to say about that

00:27:34.740 after the vote

00:27:35.940 which by the time

00:27:36.760 you hear this

00:27:37.220 may have already happened

00:27:38.100 but as I'm saying this

00:27:39.140 it has not happened yet.

00:27:40.840 I suspect the vote

00:27:41.940 will, you know,

00:27:42.800 it will pass

00:27:44.740 is what I suspect

00:27:46.220 and so we'll talk

00:27:48.900 about when it does

00:27:49.300 I will

00:27:49.860 and we've talked

00:27:50.460 about the Epstein thing

00:27:51.060 plenty of times

00:27:51.500 I will just say this

00:27:52.440 about the Epstein story

00:27:54.540 and so there are

00:28:00.260 multiple things

00:28:01.100 here going on

00:28:01.760 there are multiple

00:28:02.660 things that are true

00:28:04.380 okay about this whole story

00:28:06.020 and the first one

00:28:07.900 is that they should

00:28:08.580 release all the files

00:28:09.560 and I've said that

00:28:11.420 all along

00:28:12.420 I've said that from

00:28:13.120 literally from day one

00:28:14.340 they should release

00:28:15.020 all the files

00:28:15.520 and I'm certainly

00:28:17.100 not the only one

00:28:17.560 who said that

00:28:18.040 a lot of us

00:28:18.440 have been saying that

00:28:19.140 release the files

00:28:20.040 just release them all

00:28:20.880 there is no good reason

00:28:23.400 why any of this stuff

00:28:24.920 should be secret

00:28:25.960 this was an international 0.96

00:28:27.080 you know pedophile 0.97

00:28:29.000 who we know 0.77

00:28:32.200 was mixed up

00:28:33.220 with a lot of

00:28:33.800 prominent people

00:28:34.560 and so

00:28:36.720 lay it out

00:28:39.480 just open up

00:28:40.720 the books

00:28:41.000 and let us see

00:28:41.520 so that's the first thing

00:28:44.380 they should release

00:28:45.820 all the files

00:28:46.320 so this vote

00:28:48.220 should go through

00:28:49.080 and they should

00:28:49.560 release the files

00:28:50.100 now it's also true

00:28:52.360 that most

00:28:55.300 not all

00:28:56.660 certainly

00:28:57.360 but most of the people

00:28:59.000 in DC

00:28:59.700 right now

00:29:00.400 clamoring for the

00:29:01.360 Epstein files

00:29:02.120 are doing it solely

00:29:03.740 for political gain

00:29:04.600 okay

00:29:05.900 and they didn't give

00:29:06.980 the slightest damn

00:29:07.800 about Epstein

00:29:08.420 10 seconds ago

00:29:09.340 which is why

00:29:11.640 it's really

00:29:11.940 it's hard to stomach

00:29:12.940 some of these

00:29:14.000 press conferences

00:29:14.480 stuff that you watch

00:29:15.320 and you see these

00:29:15.840 people up there

00:29:16.600 showboating

00:29:18.000 and you know

00:29:19.140 taking this

00:29:19.880 moral stand

00:29:20.940 release the files

00:29:21.860 and some of them

00:29:23.840 mean it

00:29:24.060 but most of them

00:29:24.620 don't

00:29:24.940 they don't care at all

00:29:26.880 this is all politics

00:29:28.160 and we know that

00:29:29.700 now

00:29:31.000 and that's something

00:29:33.740 that so Trump

00:29:34.500 has essentially

00:29:35.200 that's basically

00:29:36.520 an argument

00:29:36.880 that Trump is making

00:29:39.340 and he's right about

00:29:40.120 that part of it

00:29:40.640 now it's also true

00:29:41.620 that the Trump

00:29:43.320 administration

00:29:43.880 has fumbled

00:29:45.120 this issue

00:29:45.820 badly

00:29:46.860 I mean this is one

00:29:47.420 of the worst

00:29:47.820 fumbles

00:29:48.200 we've ever seen

00:29:49.320 I don't think

00:29:49.860 that's an exaggeration

00:29:50.700 this is one of the worst

00:29:51.620 in politics

00:29:52.800 this is one of the worst

00:29:55.080 fumbles

00:29:55.840 some of the worst

00:29:56.740 bungling 0.99

00:29:57.300 that we've ever seen

00:29:58.820 and we don't need

00:30:00.340 to go back

00:30:00.840 and review all of it

00:30:01.700 but you know

00:30:02.760 going all the way

00:30:03.480 back to

00:30:04.040 Trump saying

00:30:05.360 he'd released

00:30:05.820 the files

00:30:06.340 and then getting

00:30:07.160 into office

00:30:07.740 and then

00:30:09.500 who can forget

00:30:10.880 the

00:30:11.560 now infamous

00:30:15.420 Epstein binders

00:30:17.280 that were released

00:30:18.000 to the conservative

00:30:18.640 influencers

00:30:19.220 and hey

00:30:20.400 you know

00:30:20.740 taking pictures

00:30:21.340 with them

00:30:21.780 and then it turns

00:30:22.300 out that there's

00:30:22.780 nothing in them

00:30:23.260 at all

00:30:23.600 and then they say

00:30:25.180 oh well

00:30:26.020 never mind

00:30:26.520 actually

00:30:26.940 the whole Epstein

00:30:27.960 thing is

00:30:28.560 you know

00:30:29.200 it's all

00:30:29.960 a big nothing burger

00:30:31.140 there's nothing

00:30:31.580 to see here

00:30:32.200 and it's like

00:30:33.340 okay well

00:30:33.760 then why did

00:30:34.580 you do the whole

00:30:35.060 thing with the Epstein

00:30:35.600 binder

00:30:35.760 so the whole

00:30:36.540 thing just

00:30:36.920 it's been an

00:30:37.380 absolute disaster

00:30:38.140 they've handled

00:30:38.580 it the wrong

00:30:38.940 way the entire

00:30:39.420 time

00:30:39.660 and they should

00:30:41.420 have just

00:30:41.640 released the

00:30:42.080 files

00:30:42.340 now it's also

00:30:44.800 true that

00:30:45.340 not one

00:30:46.880 democrat in

00:30:47.600 the country

00:30:48.000 not a single

00:30:48.560 one

00:30:48.860 not one

00:30:50.620 actually cares

00:30:52.480 about Epstein

00:30:53.380 and I know

00:30:55.480 that because

00:30:56.460 precisely none

00:30:58.340 of them

00:30:58.840 called for the

00:30:59.880 release back

00:31:00.640 when they could

00:31:01.040 have done it

00:31:01.620 themselves

00:31:02.180 easily

00:31:02.860 right

00:31:04.720 Joe Biden

00:31:06.340 was in

00:31:06.720 office

00:31:07.100 for four

00:31:07.800 years

00:31:08.180 and none

00:31:10.560 of these

00:31:10.860 people

00:31:11.160 the Epstein

00:31:11.580 files were

00:31:12.200 in existence

00:31:13.440 the whole

00:31:13.820 time

00:31:14.140 at any

00:31:15.800 point

00:31:16.100 any of

00:31:16.540 them could

00:31:16.840 have said

00:31:17.080 hey why

00:31:17.360 don't we

00:31:17.540 release

00:31:17.800 those Epstein

00:31:18.180 files

00:31:18.500 none of

00:31:19.760 them did

00:31:20.080 and now

00:31:21.760 we're supposed

00:31:22.180 to believe

00:31:22.560 and now

00:31:22.820 they're up

00:31:23.080 on you know

00:31:23.840 in front

00:31:24.040 of cameras

00:31:24.500 saying we

00:31:25.340 need to

00:31:25.600 take a

00:31:25.900 stand

00:31:26.180 this is

00:31:26.460 the right

00:31:26.740 thing

00:31:26.900 to do

00:31:27.300 and you

00:31:28.980 just you

00:31:29.340 can't take

00:31:29.700 it

00:31:29.800 seriously

00:31:30.160 so

00:31:33.300 but they

00:31:35.260 should release

00:31:35.680 the files

00:31:36.060 right it

00:31:36.440 all comes

00:31:36.740 back to

00:31:37.080 that so

00:31:37.400 so the

00:31:37.740 whole thing

00:31:38.080 is a is

00:31:38.580 just a mess

00:31:39.280 and politically

00:31:40.520 and there's

00:31:41.020 there's almost

00:31:42.680 nobody to root

00:31:43.660 for here

00:31:44.220 that this is

00:31:44.760 one of those

00:31:45.180 things where

00:31:46.540 there's no one

00:31:47.140 to root for

00:31:47.620 the only thing

00:31:48.020 to root for

00:31:48.540 is the truth

00:31:49.240 that's what

00:31:50.740 I'm rooting

00:31:51.080 for I just

00:31:51.620 want to know

00:31:51.920 the truth

00:31:52.320 whatever effect

00:31:54.520 it has

00:31:54.900 whatever impact

00:31:55.500 it has

00:31:55.920 whoever it

00:31:56.460 whoever it

00:31:57.840 hurts

00:31:58.140 I mean if

00:31:59.320 the truth

00:31:59.680 about Epstein

00:32:00.140 hurts you

00:32:00.820 then you

00:32:01.180 deserve to 0.99

00:32:01.580 be hurt 0.93

00:32:01.940 and um

00:32:03.560 and so

00:32:05.160 that's what

00:32:05.500 I'm rooting

00:32:05.840 for I think

00:32:06.220 it's what

00:32:06.380 we're all

00:32:06.660 rooting for

00:32:07.120 but when

00:32:08.140 it comes

00:32:08.420 to like

00:32:08.760 the characters

00:32:09.400 involved here

00:32:10.240 the figures

00:32:10.880 in DC

00:32:12.700 all the back

00:32:13.580 and forth

00:32:14.000 and everything

00:32:14.400 it's like

00:32:14.820 you can't

00:32:15.380 none of

00:32:15.740 these people

00:32:16.260 you can't

00:32:16.840 root for

00:32:17.120 any of

00:32:17.400 them

00:32:17.540 none of

00:32:17.920 them are

00:32:18.440 avenging

00:32:19.220 heroes

00:32:19.820 as they

00:32:20.760 might pretend

00:32:21.220 to be

00:32:21.620 and um

00:32:22.620 and that's

00:32:23.200 just and

00:32:23.560 that's just

00:32:23.860 the way it

00:32:24.160 is and

00:32:24.380 but this

00:32:24.960 is so

00:32:25.640 yes it's

00:32:25.980 very frustrating

00:32:26.700 that the

00:32:27.000 Democrats

00:32:27.540 it's like

00:32:28.180 yes

00:32:28.800 none of

00:32:30.200 them mean

00:32:30.540 it

00:32:30.700 none of

00:32:31.100 them care

00:32:31.400 about this

00:32:31.840 at all

00:32:32.220 um

00:32:34.460 and again

00:32:35.120 we know

00:32:35.340 that for

00:32:35.580 a fact

00:32:36.020 undeniable

00:32:37.720 because they

00:32:38.560 could have

00:32:38.800 released it

00:32:39.160 and they

00:32:39.320 didn't

00:32:39.480 themselves

00:32:39.780 uh

00:32:40.620 they waited

00:32:41.160 until they

00:32:42.000 didn't have

00:32:42.500 the power

00:32:42.880 to do it

00:32:43.240 they went

00:32:43.680 through four

00:32:44.140 years

00:32:44.460 they had

00:32:44.740 the power

00:32:45.060 to release

00:32:45.480 it

00:32:45.620 they waited

00:32:46.200 for precisely

00:32:46.960 the moment

00:32:47.420 when they

00:32:47.740 could no

00:32:48.180 longer do

00:32:48.820 it

00:32:48.960 and then

00:32:49.180 said hey

00:32:49.460 why don't

00:32:49.900 we release

00:32:50.240 those files

00:32:50.820 what's going

00:32:51.260 on here

00:32:51.700 um

00:32:52.720 so

00:32:53.440 and that's

00:32:54.580 very frustrating

00:32:55.160 but

00:32:55.460 uh

00:32:57.180 this is a

00:32:59.540 political gift

00:33:00.440 that the

00:33:00.940 Trump administration

00:33:01.520 has given

00:33:02.160 to the

00:33:02.720 Democrats

00:33:03.040 and they're

00:33:03.780 going to

00:33:03.960 take the

00:33:04.320 gift

00:33:04.600 can't really

00:33:06.700 blame them

00:33:07.220 when you

00:33:09.560 kind of

00:33:10.120 present

00:33:11.640 yourself

00:33:12.300 right

00:33:13.480 to take

00:33:14.940 a hit

00:33:15.360 uh

00:33:17.020 when you

00:33:17.360 lay your

00:33:17.960 head down

00:33:18.480 on the

00:33:18.800 tee

00:33:19.120 and tee

00:33:19.600 ball

00:33:19.880 and you

00:33:20.320 just let

00:33:20.720 them

00:33:20.900 wind up

00:33:21.500 and take

00:33:21.760 a whack 0.99

00:33:22.160 at you

00:33:22.560 well they're

00:33:23.300 going to

00:33:23.480 do it

00:33:23.920 and that's

00:33:26.460 why you

00:33:26.740 don't that's

00:33:27.120 why you

00:33:27.320 don't put

00:33:27.620 yourself in

00:33:27.900 that position

00:33:28.200 to begin

00:33:28.420 with

00:33:28.620 all right

00:33:29.780 here's a

00:33:30.660 story we

00:33:30.960 haven't had a

00:33:31.260 chance to

00:33:31.500 talk about

00:33:31.820 yet

00:33:32.040 the New

00:33:32.500 Post

00:33:32.680 reports

00:33:33.040 a Michigan

00:33:33.440 man

00:33:33.740 fatally

00:33:34.140 shot a

00:33:34.600 teen

00:33:34.820 who broke

00:33:35.300 into his

00:33:35.600 garage

00:33:35.940 and is

00:33:36.140 now facing

00:33:36.600 a manslaughter

00:33:37.520 sparking

00:33:37.900 controversy

00:33:39.980 Savon

00:33:40.560 Wilson

00:33:41.100 was with

00:33:41.600 six other

00:33:42.320 mainly

00:33:43.760 teenagers

00:33:44.400 when the

00:33:45.620 group broke

00:33:46.940 into Dayton

00:33:47.660 Napton's

00:33:48.340 garage in

00:33:49.280 White Lake

00:33:50.160 shortly after

00:33:50.660 1 a.m.

00:33:51.200 on July 8th

00:33:52.120 Napton

00:33:52.520 24 got an

00:33:53.240 alert from his

00:33:53.760 home security

00:33:54.340 system grabbed

00:33:54.960 a nine

00:33:55.680 millimeter gun

00:33:56.380 ran outside

00:33:57.580 fired two

00:33:58.000 shots into

00:33:58.400 the garage

00:33:58.740 through a

00:33:58.960 windowless

00:33:59.260 door striking

00:34:00.100 Wilson

00:34:00.400 according to

00:34:00.820 the prosecutors

00:34:01.240 as the group

00:34:01.900 fled Napton

00:34:02.480 fired five

00:34:03.380 more shots

00:34:03.780 before going

00:34:04.180 back into

00:34:04.460 his house

00:34:04.820 reloading his

00:34:05.800 gun and

00:34:06.180 returning

00:34:06.600 outside

00:34:07.980 Wilson's

00:34:10.360 father Sean

00:34:11.000 Madden

00:34:11.420 said Savon

00:34:13.100 was running

00:34:13.700 away and

00:34:14.180 got shot

00:34:14.740 another

00:34:16.240 teenager in

00:34:16.720 the group

00:34:16.940 also was

00:34:17.440 shot in

00:34:20.020 responded to

00:34:20.560 the scene

00:34:20.820 after being

00:34:21.160 notified of

00:34:21.700 two victims

00:34:22.160 with bullet

00:34:22.520 wounds in

00:34:25.540 faces up to

00:34:28.200 15 years

00:34:28.660 behind bars

00:34:29.340 for the

00:34:29.700 top charge

00:34:30.400 but Savon's

00:34:31.360 family said

00:34:31.860 they want

00:34:32.140 Napton

00:34:32.380 charged with

00:34:32.800 murder

00:34:33.160 doesn't make

00:34:34.520 sense that

00:34:34.880 it wasn't

00:34:35.200 done out of

00:34:35.600 malice and

00:34:36.120 for them to

00:34:36.540 charge him

00:34:36.880 with manslaughter

00:34:37.540 when everything

00:34:37.980 in the report

00:34:38.360 suggests there

00:34:38.840 was malicious

00:34:39.260 intent

00:34:39.620 said Wilson's

00:34:40.920 sister Armani

00:34:41.560 Madden

00:34:42.020 and meanwhile

00:34:45.600 the defense

00:34:45.940 attorney says

00:34:46.660 that as

00:34:47.920 you would

00:34:48.600 expect that

00:34:49.160 this is all

00:34:50.000 this is that

00:34:51.220 he didn't do

00:34:51.620 anything wrong

00:34:52.140 and that also

00:34:52.880 mentioning that

00:34:54.260 there had been

00:34:55.040 other break-ins

00:34:55.820 at Napton's

00:34:56.420 house before

00:34:56.980 okay so

00:34:59.020 just to review

00:35:00.160 a guy in

00:35:01.220 Michigan

00:35:01.500 dating Napton

00:35:02.160 was the

00:35:02.620 victim of

00:35:03.000 multiple

00:35:03.300 burglaries

00:35:03.900 apparently

00:35:04.480 cops didn't

00:35:05.480 do anything

00:35:05.960 nobody cared

00:35:07.080 no one's

00:35:07.940 helping and

00:35:08.580 then one

00:35:09.140 night about

00:35:09.520 1 a.m.

00:35:10.140 Savon Wilson

00:35:10.740 and his

00:35:11.440 buddies

00:35:11.800 break into

00:35:13.000 Napton's

00:35:13.620 garage

00:35:14.060 he runs

00:35:14.900 out

00:35:15.260 tired of

00:35:16.000 being a

00:35:16.300 victim

00:35:16.580 right

00:35:17.480 tired of

00:35:17.900 having his

00:35:18.300 stuff stolen

00:35:18.980 tired of

00:35:19.820 being helpless

00:35:20.380 fires through

00:35:21.180 the door of

00:35:21.640 the garage

00:35:22.100 fires a few

00:35:22.940 more times as

00:35:23.480 the criminals

00:35:23.860 are fleeing

00:35:24.320 Wilson is

00:35:25.280 killed by

00:35:25.820 one of the

00:35:26.120 bullets

00:35:26.420 it's not

00:35:27.060 clear to

00:35:27.540 me from

00:35:28.020 that write-up

00:35:28.560 if he was 0.92

00:35:28.940 killed

00:35:29.380 it says he

00:35:29.960 was hit

00:35:30.380 through the

00:35:30.960 door

00:35:31.320 and then it

00:35:32.400 says he

00:35:32.660 kept firing

00:35:33.220 as they were

00:35:34.140 running away

00:35:34.740 was he killed

00:35:36.020 from the

00:35:36.380 initial shot

00:35:37.120 through the

00:35:38.360 door or was

00:35:38.860 he killed

00:35:39.300 with another 0.66

00:35:39.720 shot when he's

00:35:40.220 running away

00:35:40.580 maybe that

00:35:41.100 is known

00:35:41.600 but I

00:35:41.840 didn't see

00:35:42.100 it in the

00:35:42.320 article

00:35:42.560 regardless

00:35:44.480 now the

00:35:45.340 same judicial

00:35:45.900 system that

00:35:46.520 had no

00:35:46.880 interest in

00:35:47.360 helping this

00:35:47.960 law-abiding

00:35:48.440 citizen

00:35:48.860 who was

00:35:50.540 the victim

00:35:51.540 of property

00:35:52.580 theft

00:35:52.940 a number

00:35:55.280 of times

00:35:55.700 will instead

00:35:57.160 try to throw

00:35:58.740 him in prison 1.00

00:35:59.220 and destroy 0.82

00:35:59.620 his life

00:36:00.000 so this is

00:36:00.960 happening to

00:36:01.320 him he goes

00:36:01.840 to the cops

00:36:02.260 and says

00:36:02.480 can you do

00:36:02.840 something

00:36:03.100 they say

00:36:03.680 no we can't

00:36:04.460 really do

00:36:04.680 anything

00:36:04.880 and then

00:36:05.780 he says

00:36:06.220 okay well

00:36:06.760 I guess

00:36:07.800 I have to

00:36:08.180 do something

00:36:08.640 or otherwise

00:36:09.200 I'm just

00:36:09.520 going to get

00:36:09.780 stolen

00:36:10.180 otherwise I'm

00:36:11.260 just going to

00:36:11.500 be a victim

00:36:11.960 every day

00:36:12.400 for the rest

00:36:12.740 of my life

00:36:13.160 and now the

00:36:15.500 system comes

00:36:15.920 back around

00:36:16.400 and says

00:36:16.720 oh well

00:36:17.160 you weren't

00:36:17.540 supposed to

00:36:17.920 do that

00:36:18.320 though so

00:36:18.800 guess what

00:36:19.500 your life

00:36:19.820 is ruined

00:36:20.220 and meanwhile

00:36:23.880 if this had

00:36:25.020 gone the

00:36:25.920 other way

00:36:26.260 and Savon

00:36:27.660 Wilson had

00:36:28.660 killed Dayton

00:36:29.640 Napton in

00:36:30.240 the process

00:36:30.600 of robbing

00:36:30.980 his house

00:36:31.360 he would

00:36:32.640 not get

00:36:33.040 15 years

00:36:33.580 in prison

00:36:33.840 for that

00:36:34.200 and we

00:36:34.840 all know

00:36:35.100 that

00:36:35.340 especially

00:36:36.980 at 17

00:36:37.540 he would

00:36:38.580 have been

00:36:38.740 out by

00:36:39.120 the time

00:36:39.380 he was

00:36:39.580 like 25

00:36:40.100 right he

00:36:41.940 would have

00:36:42.120 gotten like

00:36:42.360 seven or

00:36:42.720 eight years

00:36:43.000 in prison

00:36:43.380 and so

00:36:45.360 there's

00:36:46.440 going to be

00:36:47.060 a stiffer

00:36:47.460 penalty for

00:36:48.100 Dayton

00:36:48.300 Napton

00:36:48.640 for killing 0.92

00:36:49.220 a burglar 0.96

00:36:49.740 than there

00:36:50.060 would have

00:36:50.280 been if

00:36:50.580 the burglar 0.74

00:36:50.940 killed him

00:36:51.440 that's the 0.99

00:36:52.200 world we

00:36:52.440 live in

00:36:52.880 and needless

00:36:53.820 to say

00:36:54.240 I find this

00:36:54.840 all to be

00:36:55.160 horrendously

00:36:55.660 unjust

00:36:55.980 I am entirely

00:36:56.880 on Dayton

00:36:57.340 Napton's

00:36:57.920 side

00:36:58.380 with no

00:37:00.060 reservation

00:37:00.580 at all

00:37:01.140 how could

00:37:02.460 you not

00:37:02.720 be I

00:37:03.180 mean what

00:37:03.380 kind of

00:37:03.660 twisted

00:37:03.980 freak

00:37:04.500 would you

00:37:05.740 have to

00:37:06.000 be

00:37:06.320 to want

00:37:08.160 to put

00:37:08.420 this guy

00:37:08.860 away in

00:37:09.300 jail for

00:37:09.700 15 years

00:37:10.260 for trying

00:37:10.520 to protect

00:37:10.960 his own

00:37:11.300 property

00:37:11.680 now

00:37:13.600 unfortunately

00:37:14.060 I'm afraid

00:37:14.740 that he

00:37:15.180 may end up

00:37:15.700 with 12

00:37:16.540 of those

00:37:17.220 twisted 0.97

00:37:17.580 freaks on

00:37:18.200 his jury

00:37:18.640 I mean

00:37:19.020 who knows

00:37:19.460 but we'll

00:37:21.060 see

00:37:21.320 and I

00:37:23.380 don't want

00:37:23.600 to hear

00:37:23.840 oh but

00:37:24.220 he shot

00:37:24.700 through the

00:37:25.020 door

00:37:25.320 he kept

00:37:26.100 firing as

00:37:26.800 they ran

00:37:27.180 away

00:37:27.460 okay so

00:37:28.160 and

00:37:29.560 I don't

00:37:31.780 want to

00:37:31.940 hear any

00:37:32.280 well you know

00:37:33.740 normally

00:37:34.280 but he took

00:37:35.800 it a little

00:37:36.080 too far

00:37:36.520 he was kept

00:37:36.980 firing

00:37:37.440 so

00:37:39.360 so

00:37:39.380 I mean

00:37:42.760 he doesn't

00:37:43.620 know what

00:37:43.860 they're

00:37:43.980 doing

00:37:44.220 they could

00:37:45.340 be running

00:37:45.680 to get

00:37:45.940 a gun

00:37:46.340 right

00:37:47.680 they could

00:37:48.680 have a gun

00:37:49.060 stash

00:37:49.420 somewhere

00:37:49.760 they could

00:37:50.160 be trying

00:37:50.500 to run

00:37:50.820 in different

00:37:51.140 multiple

00:37:51.560 people

00:37:51.880 they could

00:37:52.020 be running

00:37:52.280 in different

00:37:52.580 directions

00:37:53.000 to try

00:37:53.500 to surround

00:37:53.920 him

00:37:54.100 they could

00:37:56.040 be doing

00:37:56.680 anything

00:37:57.040 he doesn't

00:37:58.220 know

00:37:58.480 he has no

00:38:00.800 idea

00:38:01.000 all he knows

00:38:01.520 is that there

00:38:01.940 are multiple

00:38:02.480 criminals on

00:38:03.220 his property

00:38:03.700 at 1am

00:38:04.340 and he knows

00:38:05.500 they're criminals

00:38:05.940 because they

00:38:06.380 broke into

00:38:06.860 his garage

00:38:08.920 so by definition

00:38:09.840 they're criminals

00:38:10.160 so that's all 0.76

00:38:10.860 he knows

00:38:11.140 he knows

00:38:11.920 it's 1 o'clock

00:38:12.840 in the morning

00:38:13.240 there are

00:38:13.660 multiple

00:38:14.280 there's a gang

00:38:15.100 of criminals

00:38:15.720 on my property

00:38:18.340 they've broken

00:38:19.620 in

00:38:19.980 and that's

00:38:21.680 all I know

00:38:22.240 and so

00:38:22.860 I need to

00:38:23.780 stop them

00:38:24.940 with whatever

00:38:26.460 means

00:38:27.140 I have

00:38:29.320 available to me

00:38:30.120 the idea

00:38:32.320 that it's

00:38:32.940 the onus

00:38:33.980 like the

00:38:34.620 onus

00:38:34.940 is on

00:38:35.340 the

00:38:35.520 homeowner

00:38:36.060 to show

00:38:37.120 restraint

00:38:37.760 in order

00:38:38.080 to preserve

00:38:38.620 the lives

00:38:39.160 of people

00:38:40.020 who have

00:38:40.320 broken into

00:38:40.800 his property

00:38:41.300 in the middle

00:38:41.760 of the night

00:38:42.160 that is just

00:38:43.460 pure madness

00:38:44.040 to me

00:38:44.460 I mean

00:38:47.480 the full

00:38:48.140 benefit of

00:38:48.880 the doubt

00:38:49.280 should go

00:38:49.740 to the

00:38:49.960 homeowner

00:38:50.340 the victim

00:38:51.760 of the crime

00:38:52.400 full benefit

00:38:53.340 of the doubt

00:38:53.820 now I

00:38:55.860 admit that

00:38:56.480 I'm extreme

00:38:57.740 when it comes

00:38:59.140 to this

00:38:59.500 I admit

00:38:59.980 that

00:39:00.280 like if it

00:39:02.640 were up to

00:39:03.040 me

00:39:03.980 you would

00:39:04.720 essentially

00:39:05.300 have

00:39:05.720 carte blanche

00:39:06.540 to respond

00:39:07.360 however you

00:39:08.220 see fit

00:39:08.860 to somebody

00:39:10.180 who breaks

00:39:10.620 into your

00:39:10.960 house

00:39:11.240 if it were

00:39:13.540 up to me

00:39:13.880 legally

00:39:14.340 you would

00:39:14.940 it's just

00:39:15.420 like well

00:39:15.960 okay you

00:39:16.420 handle that

00:39:17.240 literally however

00:39:18.060 you want

00:39:18.580 they came

00:39:19.760 into your

00:39:20.100 house

00:39:20.500 to take

00:39:21.760 your property

00:39:22.220 they came

00:39:22.620 into your

00:39:22.920 house with

00:39:23.300 sinister

00:39:23.640 intent

00:39:24.100 and

00:39:24.720 you know

00:39:27.940 if it were

00:39:28.500 up to me

00:39:28.900 and I'm in

00:39:29.300 charge of

00:39:29.760 and you know

00:39:30.860 I'm making

00:39:31.180 the laws

00:39:31.560 it's like

00:39:32.000 okay well

00:39:32.380 I don't know

00:39:33.260 don't ask

00:39:34.940 don't tell

00:39:35.400 um that's

00:39:36.440 you you

00:39:36.900 handle that

00:39:37.300 however you

00:39:37.700 want to

00:39:38.000 handle it

00:39:38.420 now I'm

00:39:39.920 not saying

00:39:40.340 that you

00:39:40.580 have moral

00:39:41.800 carte blanche

00:39:42.460 necessarily

00:39:42.960 there are

00:39:43.380 things you

00:39:43.820 could do

00:39:44.360 conceivably

00:39:45.020 in that

00:39:45.480 scenario

00:39:45.880 that would

00:39:46.300 be immoral

00:39:46.960 but as a

00:39:47.460 matter of

00:39:47.860 law

00:39:48.200 if it were

00:39:49.220 up to me

00:39:49.540 the law

00:39:49.800 would be

00:39:50.020 simple

00:39:50.300 break into

00:39:51.040 someone's

00:39:51.400 home

00:39:51.600 and whatever

00:39:53.180 happens to

00:39:53.840 you next

00:39:54.280 is your

00:39:54.940 fault

00:39:55.180 we're not

00:39:56.940 getting

00:39:57.080 involved

00:39:57.500 okay

00:39:59.400 the law

00:40:00.440 isn't

00:40:00.820 intervening

00:40:01.460 to protect

00:40:01.980 you when

00:40:02.520 you decided

00:40:03.080 to break

00:40:03.400 into somebody's

00:40:03.860 house

00:40:03.980 so if

00:40:04.620 you

00:40:04.880 you know

00:40:06.160 if you

00:40:06.520 ended up

00:40:06.920 like kidnapped

00:40:07.620 in the

00:40:08.080 basement

00:40:08.420 or something

00:40:08.980 if you

00:40:09.840 stumbled

00:40:10.240 into a

00:40:10.800 horror movie

00:40:11.400 scenario

00:40:11.840 okay if

00:40:12.480 you if

00:40:12.800 you made

00:40:13.260 a mistake

00:40:13.600 and broke

00:40:14.620 into the

00:40:14.920 house of

00:40:15.260 a horror

00:40:15.600 movie

00:40:15.880 villain

00:40:16.200 sorry about

00:40:17.960 your luck

00:40:18.340 if you call

00:40:21.580 if it were up

00:40:22.080 to me you

00:40:22.360 call the cops

00:40:22.980 and you say

00:40:23.460 I'm trapped

00:40:23.900 in this

00:40:24.200 basement

00:40:24.540 there's a

00:40:25.100 guy with

00:40:26.140 a ski

00:40:26.540 mask

00:40:26.900 and a

00:40:27.240 you know

00:40:28.240 it's like

00:40:29.000 a Stephen

00:40:29.440 King

00:40:29.680 and then

00:40:31.200 we would

00:40:31.540 say well

00:40:31.760 how did

00:40:31.980 you get

00:40:32.120 in the

00:40:32.240 basement

00:40:32.420 oh I

00:40:32.680 broke

00:40:32.920 in

00:40:33.100 okay well

00:40:33.820 click

00:40:34.540 all right

00:40:36.200 well

00:40:36.420 better figure

00:40:37.460 out your

00:40:37.660 way out

00:40:37.940 of that

00:40:38.200 out of

00:40:38.580 that bind

00:40:39.080 probably

00:40:40.640 shouldn't

00:40:40.860 have broken

00:40:41.160 into the

00:40:41.520 house

00:40:41.880 what are

00:40:44.260 we gonna

00:40:44.440 do send

00:40:44.820 the cops

00:40:45.200 to rescue

00:40:45.660 you we're

00:40:46.020 gonna put

00:40:46.240 them in

00:40:46.540 harm's

00:40:46.780 way

00:40:46.940 because

00:40:47.120 you

00:40:47.240 decided

00:40:47.560 to break

00:40:47.880 in

00:40:48.120 sorry

00:40:48.640 no

00:40:48.940 some

00:40:49.880 lessons

00:40:50.160 you learned

00:40:50.480 the hard

00:40:50.720 way son

00:40:51.180 but I'm

00:40:54.360 extreme I

00:40:54.880 admit

00:40:55.080 I mean

00:40:55.820 if we're

00:40:58.220 up to

00:40:58.420 me if

00:40:58.620 someone

00:40:58.780 broke

00:40:59.060 into your

00:40:59.300 house

00:40:59.580 and you

00:41:00.060 like

00:41:00.360 enslaved

00:41:01.000 them

00:41:01.340 and made

00:41:02.500 them do

00:41:02.820 your laundry

00:41:03.300 and wash 0.93

00:41:03.680 your dishes

00:41:04.100 the law

00:41:05.260 would not

00:41:05.740 intervene

00:41:06.160 I mean

00:41:07.280 that would

00:41:07.460 be wrong

00:41:08.020 morally

00:41:08.500 don't get

00:41:08.800 me wrong

00:41:09.220 like you

00:41:09.640 should not

00:41:10.020 enslave

00:41:10.440 burglars 0.97

00:41:10.960 I'm not 0.65

00:41:11.380 to be

00:41:12.140 clear I'm

00:41:12.580 not morally

00:41:13.180 defending

00:41:13.640 that I'm

00:41:14.740 saying the

00:41:15.240 law just

00:41:16.080 would not

00:41:16.440 get involved

00:41:16.900 full-on

00:41:17.900 wild west

00:41:18.660 situation

00:41:19.240 for people

00:41:19.900 who enter

00:41:20.360 your home

00:41:20.900 or your

00:41:21.720 property

00:41:22.140 illegally

00:41:23.140 full-on

00:41:24.300 wild west

00:41:24.900 is what

00:41:25.360 is what

00:41:25.800 if it were

00:41:26.180 up to

00:41:26.420 me

00:41:26.500 that's

00:41:26.680 what it

00:41:26.860 would be

00:41:27.940 extreme

00:41:31.080 I'm not

00:41:32.000 in charge

00:41:32.420 so the

00:41:33.040 law doesn't

00:41:33.600 quite work

00:41:33.980 that way

00:41:34.380 I realize

00:41:35.040 and yet

00:41:36.400 even under

00:41:37.220 the current

00:41:37.580 law

00:41:38.020 under the

00:41:39.440 current

00:41:39.660 law

00:41:39.900 I still

00:41:42.240 think this

00:41:42.740 guy should

00:41:43.340 not be

00:41:43.640 facing any

00:41:44.520 prison time

00:41:45.100 and should

00:41:45.480 not have

00:41:45.760 been charged

00:41:46.220 at all

00:41:46.680 he was

00:41:48.240 reacting in

00:41:49.020 the moment

00:41:49.440 protecting

00:41:50.060 his property

00:41:50.720 in reasonable

00:41:52.160 fear for

00:41:52.620 his life

00:41:53.080 no debate

00:41:56.240 about that

00:41:56.920 okay

00:41:58.720 he shouldn't

00:41:59.280 even need

00:41:59.560 to prove

00:42:00.080 well what

00:42:00.560 can you

00:42:01.220 prove you

00:42:01.580 in reasonable

00:42:01.940 fear

00:42:02.140 yeah

00:42:02.740 they're on

00:42:03.160 my property

00:42:03.500 it's one

00:42:03.720 o'clock

00:42:03.920 in the

00:42:04.100 morning

00:42:04.280 okay

00:42:05.300 there's a

00:42:05.640 gang of

00:42:06.000 people on

00:42:06.340 my property

00:42:06.680 one o'clock

00:42:07.020 in the

00:42:07.120 morning

00:42:07.200 I'm in

00:42:07.660 fear for

00:42:07.900 my life

00:42:08.320 automatically

00:42:10.200 so of

00:42:11.800 course

00:42:12.060 as anybody

00:42:12.740 would be

00:42:13.160 so fear

00:42:14.240 for your

00:42:14.460 life

00:42:14.680 person's on

00:42:15.100 your property

00:42:15.480 they don't

00:42:15.720 belong there

00:42:16.280 and he's

00:42:18.520 acting in

00:42:18.940 defense of

00:42:19.340 himself and

00:42:19.800 his property

00:42:20.300 in a

00:42:21.360 reasonable

00:42:21.980 way

00:42:22.500 and you

00:42:24.100 could say

00:42:24.400 well he

00:42:24.880 should have

00:42:25.120 stopped

00:42:25.400 shooting

00:42:25.860 he fired

00:42:26.860 three more

00:42:27.360 shots than

00:42:27.840 he should

00:42:28.100 have

00:42:28.220 okay

00:42:28.540 whatever

00:42:28.980 I mean

00:42:30.900 benefit of

00:42:31.800 the doubt

00:42:32.160 in this

00:42:33.000 case

00:42:33.340 and don't

00:42:34.980 tell me

00:42:35.400 that well

00:42:35.800 they have

00:42:36.060 no choice

00:42:36.480 the law

00:42:36.860 is the

00:42:37.080 law

00:42:37.420 like even

00:42:39.060 if I

00:42:39.380 agreed

00:42:39.880 that the

00:42:41.520 law in

00:42:42.060 Michigan

00:42:42.380 makes it

00:42:43.820 so that

00:42:44.420 technically

00:42:44.920 you know

00:42:45.420 like technically

00:42:46.320 he violated

00:42:46.920 the law in

00:42:47.340 Michigan

00:42:47.580 which I'm

00:42:47.900 not convinced

00:42:48.360 of that

00:42:48.640 but even

00:42:48.920 if I

00:42:49.180 agreed with

00:42:49.600 that

00:42:49.840 so

00:42:51.800 what are

00:42:53.780 you talking

00:42:54.100 about

00:42:54.260 the court

00:42:54.620 system

00:42:54.980 all the

00:42:55.640 time

00:42:56.140 decides to

00:42:57.200 go easy

00:42:57.620 on people

00:42:58.200 decides to

00:42:59.000 give them a

00:42:59.680 second chance

00:43:00.520 right

00:43:01.420 is empathetic

00:43:02.500 is compassionate

00:43:03.500 says well

00:43:05.220 let's understand

00:43:06.000 it from there

00:43:06.460 but yeah

00:43:06.840 they broke

00:43:07.320 they broke

00:43:07.980 the law

00:43:08.280 yeah they

00:43:08.660 carjacked

00:43:09.220 but hey

00:43:09.720 you know

00:43:11.860 they had a

00:43:12.200 hard life

00:43:12.560 or whatever

00:43:12.880 the court

00:43:13.440 system does

00:43:13.800 that all

00:43:14.120 the time

00:43:14.580 so for

00:43:17.200 once

00:43:17.760 why can't

00:43:18.360 that go

00:43:18.640 the other

00:43:18.880 way

00:43:19.100 for once

00:43:20.340 why can't

00:43:21.160 that go

00:43:21.900 why can't

00:43:22.600 that be

00:43:22.860 applied to

00:43:23.420 an actual

00:43:23.720 law abiding

00:43:24.320 person

00:43:24.800 who you

00:43:26.780 would want

00:43:27.420 living in

00:43:27.940 your neighborhood

00:43:28.440 that should

00:43:32.240 be the test

00:43:32.740 would anyone

00:43:33.160 if they

00:43:33.480 would just

00:43:33.760 let this

00:43:34.060 guy off

00:43:34.360 the hook

00:43:34.720 would anyone

00:43:36.660 feel nervous

00:43:37.780 about having

00:43:38.320 this guy

00:43:38.660 living next

00:43:39.180 to you

00:43:39.360 I wouldn't

00:43:40.100 why would

00:43:40.440 you

00:43:40.600 just like

00:43:42.760 don't

00:43:43.140 I mean

00:43:43.540 are you

00:43:43.840 planning a

00:43:44.260 break into

00:43:44.620 his house

00:43:45.040 I mean

00:43:45.300 if you're

00:43:45.500 planning on

00:43:45.920 that then

00:43:46.280 I'd be

00:43:46.500 nervous about

00:43:47.020 it but

00:43:47.440 mind your 1.00

00:43:48.100 own damn 1.00

00:43:48.420 business 1.00

00:43:48.860 stay out of

00:43:50.200 the guy's

00:43:50.540 house unless

00:43:51.360 you were

00:43:51.640 invited and

00:43:52.340 you got

00:43:52.540 nothing to

00:43:52.820 worry about

00:43:53.220 in fact

00:43:57.280 I'd prefer

00:43:58.980 to live next

00:43:59.560 door to

00:43:59.860 someone who's

00:44:00.460 willing to

00:44:00.860 use deadly

00:44:01.580 force on

00:44:02.240 burglars 0.97

00:44:02.680 I'm willing

00:44:04.700 to I'd like

00:44:05.740 to have as

00:44:05.980 many people

00:44:06.280 in the

00:44:06.440 neighborhood

00:44:06.620 as possible

00:44:07.160 that I

00:44:08.360 know are

00:44:08.700 willing to

00:44:09.040 do that

00:44:09.400 because you

00:44:11.240 know what

00:44:11.380 happens next

00:44:11.920 where this

00:44:13.200 neighborhood's not

00:44:14.100 getting burglarized

00:44:14.760 anymore okay the

00:44:15.320 burglars are 1.00

00:44:15.840 going to go

00:44:16.180 elsewhere they're

00:44:17.460 not coming

00:44:17.800 here and

00:44:19.620 so that's the

00:44:21.820 way that I

00:44:22.140 would look at

00:44:22.520 this and

00:44:23.280 also look

00:44:23.740 people are

00:44:24.220 just people

00:44:26.340 are fed up

00:44:26.860 with being

00:44:27.200 victims it's

00:44:28.580 as simple as

00:44:29.040 that they're

00:44:30.760 just fed up

00:44:31.220 with it

00:44:31.820 okay before

00:44:34.540 we get to

00:44:34.880 the cancellation

00:44:35.820 here's a

00:44:36.540 here's something

00:44:38.300 something from

00:44:40.140 the entertainment

00:44:40.640 industry

00:44:41.200 lighten the

00:44:42.300 mood a bit

00:44:42.760 New York

00:44:44.800 Times headline

00:44:45.300 25 movies

00:44:46.440 many stars

00:44:47.280 zero hits

00:44:48.280 Hollywood falls

00:44:49.860 to new lows

00:44:50.780 and the article

00:44:52.700 says some

00:44:53.200 were heavily

00:44:53.580 marketed many

00:44:54.200 were championed

00:44:54.720 by critics

00:44:55.180 most had

00:44:55.740 star power

00:44:56.160 but not

00:44:56.460 one of the

00:44:57.100 25 dramas

00:44:57.860 and comedies

00:44:58.360 that movie

00:44:58.720 companies released

00:44:59.920 in North

00:45:00.180 American theaters

00:45:00.780 over the past

00:45:01.200 three months

00:45:01.520 has become a

00:45:02.100 hit

00:45:02.280 certainly not

00:45:03.140 in the way

00:45:03.380 that Hollywood

00:45:03.760 has historically

00:45:04.320 kept score

00:45:04.920 some have

00:45:05.320 played to

00:45:05.860 near empty

00:45:06.800 auditoriums

00:45:07.300 including

00:45:07.540 After the Hunt

00:45:08.180 starring Julia

00:45:08.720 Roberts

00:45:09.120 Christie with

00:45:09.800 Sidney Sweeney

00:45:10.360 and Die My

00:45:11.680 Love featuring

00:45:12.280 Jennifer Lawrence

00:45:12.980 and Robert

00:45:13.860 Pattinson

00:45:14.280 to succeed

00:45:15.300 in theaters

00:45:15.660 today dramas

00:45:16.200 and comedies

00:45:16.640 must have

00:45:17.020 events status

00:45:17.720 something truly

00:45:18.340 elevated and

00:45:18.880 special said

00:45:19.480 Kevin Goetz

00:45:20.740 an author of

00:45:21.520 the new book

00:45:21.940 How to Score

00:45:22.460 in Hollywood

00:45:22.840 which looks

00:45:23.260 at film

00:45:23.620 bankability

00:45:24.200 and then

00:45:27.780 goes on

00:45:29.320 while success

00:45:32.140 at box offices

00:45:32.580 always correlated

00:45:33.560 to how much

00:45:34.580 it costs

00:45:34.900 to make a film

00:45:35.340 Hollywood

00:45:35.640 has historically

00:45:36.240 used 50 million

00:45:37.060 dollars in ticket

00:45:37.700 sales over an

00:45:38.600 entire run

00:45:39.080 as a benchmark

00:45:40.000 for a widely

00:45:40.860 seen drama

00:45:41.780 or comedy

00:45:42.300 by that measure

00:45:43.300 After the Hunt

00:45:43.980 is a catastrophe

00:45:45.500 it costs an estimated

00:45:46.400 70 million to make

00:45:47.340 and collected

00:45:47.760 3.3 million dollars

00:45:49.780 and then there's

00:45:52.800 this Jennifer Lopez

00:45:53.480 one that got

00:45:54.500 cost 30 million

00:45:55.880 and brought in

00:45:56.760 1.6 million

00:45:58.020 in ticket sales

00:45:58.640 over a month

00:45:59.260 which is

00:46:01.160 very low

00:46:03.300 so Hollywood films

00:46:05.180 are flopping

00:46:05.700 all over the place

00:46:06.440 and it feels like

00:46:07.440 you've heard this story

00:46:08.120 before

00:46:08.560 because you have

00:46:09.800 this is a trend

00:46:11.100 that's been noticeable

00:46:11.940 for years

00:46:12.540 but

00:46:12.840 you know

00:46:14.440 it seems to be

00:46:14.940 worse now

00:46:15.500 than ever

00:46:15.920 is this the beginning

00:46:17.580 of the end

00:46:18.120 for Hollywood

00:46:18.620 is this

00:46:19.200 the end

00:46:19.880 of the end

00:46:20.360 is it not just

00:46:21.160 the beginning

00:46:21.560 is it actually

00:46:22.260 the end

00:46:22.660 kind of seems

00:46:24.560 like it

00:46:25.100 and

00:46:26.720 I will say

00:46:28.880 that I differ

00:46:29.700 from I think

00:46:30.280 a lot of conservatives

00:46:30.900 on this

00:46:31.320 and that's not

00:46:32.080 something that I

00:46:32.880 celebrate

00:46:34.800 necessarily

00:46:35.600 I know a lot

00:46:36.760 of conservatives

00:46:37.120 are happy

00:46:37.680 when they see

00:46:38.080 they see articles

00:46:39.060 like this

00:46:39.700 Hollywood is falling

00:46:41.720 they're happy

00:46:43.100 about it

00:46:43.580 I understand why

00:46:44.560 I share the sentiment

00:46:45.520 at some level

00:46:46.400 okay so it's like

00:46:47.460 I get it

00:46:48.080 but I can't really

00:46:49.660 see it as a win

00:46:50.380 because I think

00:46:50.960 what comes after it

00:46:52.300 will be a lot worse

00:46:53.740 that's the problem

00:46:54.640 I think what comes after

00:46:56.340 once the movie business

00:46:58.060 is finished

00:46:59.020 the movie business

00:47:00.660 as we have known it

00:47:01.760 you know

00:47:03.420 for the past

00:47:04.040 80 or 90 years

00:47:06.160 or whatever

00:47:06.540 once that's over

00:47:08.600 and I think it

00:47:09.380 basically is

00:47:10.380 I mean

00:47:10.660 it almost is

00:47:11.880 whether or not

00:47:14.240 that's a good thing

00:47:14.940 really depends on

00:47:15.800 okay well

00:47:16.280 what

00:47:16.640 what's

00:47:18.140 what replaces it

00:47:19.500 what comes after it

00:47:20.500 and I think

00:47:21.140 that what comes after

00:47:22.000 Hollywood

00:47:22.380 what comes after

00:47:23.040 the entertainment industry

00:47:23.940 is not anything better

00:47:26.180 it's really just

00:47:27.020 an endless stream

00:47:27.860 of content

00:47:28.420 on your phone

00:47:29.220 I mean

00:47:29.440 that's what actually

00:47:30.200 has replaced

00:47:30.820 the movie business

00:47:31.760 your phone

00:47:33.240 random videos

00:47:34.300 and content

00:47:34.880 on your phone

00:47:35.520 as we've talked about

00:47:37.200 the atomized

00:47:38.500 fractured culture

00:47:39.600 instead of the monoculture

00:47:40.820 so that's what comes next

00:47:42.400 and all the endless pages

00:47:46.400 all of the

00:47:47.500 proverbial ink

00:47:49.000 being spilled

00:47:49.760 over

00:47:50.400 over this question

00:47:52.440 of what happened

00:47:53.140 to Hollywood

00:47:53.480 why is it falling

00:47:54.380 why is it failing

00:47:55.200 you know

00:47:56.220 it's really this

00:47:57.180 it's not

00:47:59.220 it's not

00:48:00.320 the quality of the film

00:48:01.260 mainly

00:48:01.760 it's

00:48:02.240 it's not

00:48:02.720 wokeness

00:48:03.480 right

00:48:05.480 there is

00:48:05.840 that is part of the problem

00:48:07.180 I mean that hasn't helped

00:48:08.000 but it's not really that

00:48:09.900 it's actually just

00:48:13.180 the phone

00:48:14.260 right

00:48:14.640 it's like

00:48:15.000 it's the box

00:48:15.600 that we all carry around

00:48:16.420 and we're just

00:48:16.880 looking at it all day

00:48:17.800 like that's

00:48:18.700 really why

00:48:19.640 and I would take

00:48:22.160 Hollywood

00:48:22.660 over the endless scroll

00:48:24.400 I would take

00:48:27.400 the movie business

00:48:28.420 over just the

00:48:29.380 people sitting there

00:48:30.220 doing this all day

00:48:31.020 on their phones

00:48:31.660 just

00:48:32.820 staring at

00:48:34.340 nothing

00:48:35.280 okay

00:48:36.120 I would take

00:48:37.400 I don't think

00:48:38.340 that that's better

00:48:38.900 I really don't

00:48:40.240 I think it's better

00:48:40.940 to watch a bunch of

00:48:41.840 mindless Hollywood

00:48:42.900 popcorn flicks

00:48:43.820 than spend all day

00:48:45.120 just drooling

00:48:46.320 while you stare

00:48:47.580 at whatever the algorithm

00:48:48.520 feeds you

00:48:49.240 so that's one thing

00:48:51.300 and

00:48:53.480 and you know

00:48:56.220 so like I said

00:48:57.020 we talked about

00:48:57.460 the death of monoculture

00:48:58.300 everything is consumed

00:48:59.200 by phones

00:48:59.900 and algorithms

00:49:00.680 and that's what's happening

00:49:02.040 and any analysis

00:49:03.380 of this

00:49:03.980 that overlooks

00:49:04.880 that point

00:49:05.720 is overlooking

00:49:06.580 the point

00:49:07.280 I will say though

00:49:09.160 there's another factor

00:49:10.720 one other factor

00:49:11.500 it's not the biggest

00:49:12.080 but not the smallest either

00:49:13.540 and if we're talking

00:49:15.180 about the box office

00:49:16.060 specifically

00:49:16.640 if we're talking

00:49:17.100 about theaters

00:49:17.720 there is one other thing

00:49:20.040 killing the box office

00:49:21.200 killing movie theaters

00:49:22.080 and that is the quality

00:49:23.240 of the experience

00:49:24.280 and I don't even

00:49:25.500 just mean the films

00:49:26.600 I mean the actual

00:49:27.540 experience

00:49:28.280 of the theater itself

00:49:29.820 has declined dramatically

00:49:31.720 I mean I

00:49:34.140 anecdotally

00:49:35.180 I have the same

00:49:35.740 anecdotal experience

00:49:36.420 that a lot of people do

00:49:37.040 which is

00:49:37.540 I don't go to movies

00:49:39.280 nearly as much

00:49:39.880 these days as I used to

00:49:41.060 part of that is because

00:49:42.440 there's not as many movies

00:49:43.320 I'm interested in

00:49:44.060 part of that is because

00:49:45.980 I'm older now

00:49:46.920 and I got a million kids

00:49:48.200 and everything going on

00:49:49.000 but also

00:49:50.180 you know

00:49:50.620 on the rare occasion

00:49:52.040 when we go

00:49:52.540 sometimes you go

00:49:53.260 and the experience

00:49:54.080 is just ruined

00:49:54.960 it's a miserable experience

00:49:57.020 and you're thinking

00:49:57.520 like I should have

00:49:58.060 just watched this

00:49:58.680 at home

00:49:58.900 wait three weeks

00:50:00.800 and it'll be out

00:50:01.400 on Netflix or something

00:50:02.080 I'll watch it there

00:50:02.760 the experience

00:50:05.580 has declined

00:50:06.240 in the same way

00:50:07.340 that the experience

00:50:08.380 of flying on a plane

00:50:09.860 has declined

00:50:10.820 going out to eat

00:50:12.080 it's the same thing

00:50:13.960 that killed malls

00:50:15.120 you know

00:50:16.100 everyone says

00:50:16.680 the internet killed

00:50:17.720 shopping malls

00:50:18.660 but that's not

00:50:19.520 entirely true

00:50:20.420 that was part of it

00:50:23.560 but

00:50:23.880 what

00:50:26.680 malls were all

00:50:27.860 already on the way out

00:50:28.980 because the experience

00:50:30.620 of going to them

00:50:32.020 was not

00:50:34.380 it was just not

00:50:36.420 a fun experience anymore

00:50:37.160 I mean again

00:50:38.340 I have the same

00:50:39.340 anecdotal experience

00:50:39.960 a lot of people do

00:50:40.520 I remember growing up

00:50:41.900 we had a mall

00:50:42.720 we used to go to

00:50:43.540 and it was a family

00:50:45.400 family friendly

00:50:46.140 you'd go

00:50:46.880 and you'd eat lunch

00:50:48.060 there

00:50:48.380 and you'd go to the arcade

00:50:49.240 and you'd check out

00:50:50.080 some of the shops

00:50:50.580 and stuff

00:50:50.880 and it was kind of a

00:50:51.540 you'd hang out there

00:50:52.460 for like hours

00:50:53.000 it was a thing

00:50:53.580 people did

00:50:54.040 back in the early 90s

00:50:56.420 and before that

00:50:57.020 and then in this case

00:50:59.980 they built a metro stop

00:51:01.460 they built a subway stop

00:51:03.400 right next to the mall

00:51:05.660 and next thing you know

00:51:07.440 the mall is now

00:51:08.520 shall we say

00:51:09.200 urbanized

00:51:09.780 and now there was

00:51:11.900 this family friendly mall

00:51:13.360 and now there's drugs

00:51:14.700 and there's shootings

00:51:15.820 in the parking lot

00:51:16.560 and it's just not a place

00:51:18.380 you want to bring

00:51:18.700 your kids anymore

00:51:19.280 and it was just destroyed

00:51:20.440 there's this nice thing

00:51:22.280 that people like to go

00:51:23.020 and do

00:51:23.320 and it was fun

00:51:23.940 for the community

00:51:24.540 and it was just ruined

00:51:25.760 it was just ruined

00:51:27.100 and so many things

00:51:29.060 like that

00:51:29.580 so I think it's a similar

00:51:31.360 sort of scenario

00:51:32.440 on top of that

00:51:33.660 social etiquette

00:51:34.480 in general

00:51:35.000 has declined

00:51:35.680 everyone is afraid

00:51:37.040 to enforce

00:51:37.740 the rules

00:51:38.660 you know

00:51:40.000 audiences are obnoxious

00:51:41.520 and loud

00:51:42.020 and rude

00:51:42.560 and the funny thing

00:51:44.580 is that everyone says

00:51:45.400 the ticket prices

00:51:46.060 are too high

00:51:46.680 and that's what's

00:51:47.280 killing the movie theaters

00:51:48.040 and yeah

00:51:49.100 at some level

00:51:50.280 I get that

00:51:51.200 it is way too much

00:51:52.420 but

00:51:53.980 you could also argue

00:51:55.540 that

00:51:55.940 the way to save

00:51:57.160 the movie theaters

00:51:57.760 is to go the other way

00:51:58.720 now

00:51:58.960 to make movies

00:52:00.440 even more expensive

00:52:01.320 like get to a price point

00:52:03.040 where the only people

00:52:04.280 who will buy the tickets

00:52:05.320 are the ones

00:52:05.960 who actually want

00:52:06.720 to sit down quietly 1.00

00:52:07.900 and watch the damn movie 1.00

00:52:09.300 you know 1.00

00:52:13.280 Ray's ticket price

00:52:14.080 is another 100%

00:52:15.040 and it'll be

00:52:16.000 way too expensive

00:52:17.000 it already is

00:52:18.040 but at least then

00:52:20.020 you can be pretty sure

00:52:20.840 that okay

00:52:21.280 like no one

00:52:21.880 is going to take

00:52:22.400 the

00:52:22.640 is going to buy

00:52:23.280 this ticket

00:52:23.700 and then sit down

00:52:24.320 and be on their phone

00:52:24.920 no one is going to go

00:52:26.240 in there with a whole group

00:52:27.180 and be loud obnoxious

00:52:28.340 but I'll tell you

00:52:32.740 what the problem isn't

00:52:33.480 as I've already referenced

00:52:34.220 the problem is not

00:52:35.320 the quality of the films

00:52:36.600 and I know that

00:52:37.840 that's the standard

00:52:38.800 conservative response

00:52:39.820 well they just don't

00:52:40.560 make movies like they used to

00:52:41.660 and I agree with that

00:52:43.220 I mean I'm the one

00:52:43.740 who's talked about

00:52:44.240 how the movie industry

00:52:45.200 peaked in 20 years ago

00:52:46.820 and I believe that that's true

00:52:47.940 so I don't think

00:52:48.940 that the quality

00:52:49.480 I think that the quality

00:52:50.300 has declined

00:52:50.900 but I don't think

00:52:51.440 that's the reason

00:52:52.060 because

00:52:53.820 and this is like

00:52:54.480 the uncomfortable truth

00:52:55.700 that we

00:52:55.900 I mean

00:52:56.320 it kind of lets us

00:52:58.160 off the hook

00:52:58.620 as an audience

00:52:59.120 if we can say

00:52:59.700 oh yeah well

00:53:00.280 you know

00:53:01.040 we just demand

00:53:02.460 better quality content

00:53:03.640 right

00:53:04.280 well

00:53:06.120 but we really don't

00:53:07.840 and here's my proof

00:53:10.800 so I saw this yesterday

00:53:11.660 this is the teaser

00:53:12.820 and we're not going to play

00:53:13.640 but it's like

00:53:14.140 just 10 seconds

00:53:14.840 so the teaser

00:53:16.120 for the live action

00:53:17.400 adaptation

00:53:18.080 of Moano

00:53:19.360 just came out yesterday

00:53:20.420 I guess

00:53:20.800 and people are very excited

00:53:23.360 I suppose

00:53:24.420 here's a few seconds of it

00:53:27.580 I am a girl

00:53:35.380 who loves my island

00:53:37.340 and the girl

00:53:40.580 who loves the sea

00:53:42.300 it calls me

00:53:46.240 okay

00:53:49.440 so that's already

00:53:50.620 whatever

00:53:51.360 okay fine

00:53:52.060 so you

00:53:52.360 so a few things

00:53:54.360 about this live action

00:53:55.160 adaptation of Moano

00:53:56.060 first of all

00:53:56.500 it's not live action

00:53:57.340 almost the whole thing

00:53:58.220 is animated

00:53:58.700 you know

00:54:00.500 almost the whole thing

00:54:01.180 is CGI

00:54:01.620 there are like

00:54:02.600 two human characters

00:54:03.520 and you can already

00:54:04.040 tell if you watch

00:54:04.520 the preview

00:54:04.880 it's like

00:54:05.180 but you can tell

00:54:05.980 that maybe two human

00:54:07.280 characters

00:54:07.540 the rest is CGI

00:54:08.300 and everything

00:54:09.520 now I mean

00:54:10.740 that's how they

00:54:11.080 even the water

00:54:12.840 and the trees

00:54:14.200 okay

00:54:15.040 if you see a shot

00:54:15.740 of oh they're

00:54:16.400 standing on a hilltop

00:54:17.300 and there's grass

00:54:17.940 even that is CGI

00:54:18.880 they're gonna CGI

00:54:20.620 a hill with grass

00:54:22.120 they're gonna CGI

00:54:23.120 everything

00:54:23.980 everything

00:54:24.660 so it's a

00:54:26.900 live action

00:54:27.640 adaptation

00:54:27.960 but it's not

00:54:28.720 live action

00:54:29.260 it's actually

00:54:29.900 basically a cartoon

00:54:30.840 so this is a

00:54:32.120 remake of a movie

00:54:33.160 that came out

00:54:34.540 nine years ago

00:54:35.360 they're remaking

00:54:37.160 a movie that I

00:54:37.880 took my 12 year old

00:54:38.840 daughter to see

00:54:39.500 when she was three

00:54:40.540 in theaters

00:54:41.180 so this is very

00:54:42.500 very recent

00:54:43.000 it is so recent

00:54:43.980 that there are

00:54:45.040 kids who will

00:54:45.860 have seen both

00:54:46.760 the original

00:54:47.400 and the remake

00:54:48.520 in theaters

00:54:49.600 before they graduate

00:54:51.040 elementary school

00:54:51.980 okay you'll have

00:54:53.140 fourth graders

00:54:53.820 watching this

00:54:54.600 and reminiscing

00:54:55.480 about seeing

00:54:56.660 the original film

00:54:57.780 way back in the day

00:54:59.480 when they were

00:55:01.160 in preschool

00:55:01.660 you know they'll

00:55:03.680 lean over to their

00:55:04.300 younger friend

00:55:04.800 in the theater

00:55:05.180 and say I remember

00:55:05.940 I remember many

00:55:06.900 moons ago

00:55:07.620 sitting in that

00:55:08.940 exact seat

00:55:09.560 watching the

00:55:10.460 original film

00:55:11.120 all those years

00:55:11.780 ago I think it

00:55:12.400 was Humphrey Bogart

00:55:14.580 was Maui

00:55:15.320 I believe

00:55:15.800 so it's very

00:55:17.440 recent is my

00:55:18.080 point and they

00:55:18.880 just put out

00:55:19.380 like a sequel

00:55:19.960 last year

00:55:20.600 this is a

00:55:21.280 remake of a

00:55:21.900 nine-year-old

00:55:22.440 movie

00:55:22.740 which has

00:55:23.800 never been

00:55:24.160 done before

00:55:24.640 as far as I

00:55:25.160 know

00:55:25.400 a remake

00:55:27.460 that quick

00:55:27.840 this is a

00:55:28.220 shot-for-shot

00:55:29.020 remake

00:55:29.440 of an animated

00:55:30.780 film that

00:55:31.680 just came out

00:55:32.600 and the remake

00:55:34.020 itself is also

00:55:34.880 mostly animated

00:55:35.820 so this is the

00:55:37.180 least inventive

00:55:38.200 least creative

00:55:38.960 most uninspired

00:55:40.180 thing Hollywood

00:55:41.820 has ever done

00:55:42.820 and it will make

00:55:44.800 90 billion dollars

00:55:46.240 at the box office

00:55:46.900 and we all know

00:55:47.600 it okay

00:55:47.920 it will earn more

00:55:49.080 than like the GDP

00:55:50.000 of Nigeria

00:55:50.760 at the box

00:55:51.660 office

00:55:52.000 on the first

00:55:52.760 day

00:55:53.060 it'll be a

00:55:54.140 smash hit

00:55:54.660 I wish I could

00:55:55.580 say that oh

00:55:56.060 yeah it's gonna

00:55:56.460 flop

00:55:56.740 it's not

00:55:57.420 I mean it's

00:55:57.900 gonna be huge

00:55:58.680 so we all say

00:56:00.640 that the box

00:56:01.040 office is failing

00:56:01.760 because Hollywood

00:56:02.180 puts out low

00:56:02.760 effort slop

00:56:03.340 and yet

00:56:04.200 well the low

00:56:06.300 effort slop

00:56:06.860 is the only

00:56:07.620 thing that

00:56:08.560 anyone will

00:56:09.700 go see

00:56:10.160 the low effort

00:56:12.220 slop earns

00:56:12.920 billions of

00:56:13.820 dollars

00:56:14.280 actually the

00:56:16.820 movies that

00:56:17.340 are flopping

00:56:18.180 for the most

00:56:18.680 part are

00:56:19.280 original films

00:56:20.160 everyone says

00:56:20.680 oh Hollywood

00:56:21.080 doesn't make

00:56:21.360 original films

00:56:21.820 well they

00:56:22.180 actually still

00:56:23.040 do it's

00:56:24.000 just that no

00:56:24.580 one sees

00:56:25.160 them nobody

00:56:26.120 will go watch

00:56:26.760 those movies

00:56:27.220 no one will

00:56:29.000 go see the

00:56:29.460 movie unless

00:56:29.940 it's a sequel

00:56:30.620 remake right

00:56:32.120 franchise thing

00:56:33.280 and and that's

00:56:36.820 just that's the

00:56:37.820 truth of it so

00:56:38.720 you know a lot

00:56:41.920 of blame to go

00:56:42.700 around on this

00:56:43.280 thing because I

00:56:44.140 guess what I

00:56:45.060 would say you

00:56:46.180 ever feel too

00:56:46.700 busy to make

00:56:47.240 healthy choices

00:56:47.860 do you find

00:56:48.360 yourself too

00:56:49.020 tired at the

00:56:49.460 end of the

00:56:49.680 day to cook

00:56:50.280 a healthy

00:56:50.560 meal and

00:56:51.020 find yourself

00:56:51.600 frequenting

00:56:52.440 your favorite

00:56:53.280 drive-thru more

00:56:54.120 than you would

00:56:54.480 like well you're

00:56:55.620 not alone trust

00:56:56.340 me life can

00:56:57.060 make it hard to

00:56:58.220 make healthy

00:56:58.620 choices sometimes

00:56:59.180 but there is

00:56:59.860 one option that

00:57:00.400 even the busiest

00:57:01.060 person can make

00:57:02.100 some time for and

00:57:03.240 that is balance

00:57:04.000 of nature

00:57:04.460 balance of

00:57:04.840 nature's fruits

00:57:05.340 and veggies

00:57:05.700 supplements make

00:57:06.840 it easy to

00:57:07.400 eat fruits and

00:57:08.160 vegetables that

00:57:08.800 you're supposed

00:57:09.260 to eat on a

00:57:09.940 daily basis you

00:57:10.820 can take them

00:57:11.320 however you like

00:57:12.380 swallow them with 0.79

00:57:13.200 water chew them

00:57:14.240 open up the

00:57:14.660 capsules and mix

00:57:15.360 the powder into

00:57:15.960 your meals or

00:57:17.060 drinks inside

00:57:17.700 you'll find

00:57:18.360 ingredients from

00:57:19.300 16 whole fruits

00:57:20.380 and 15 whole

00:57:21.240 vegetables that

00:57:21.900 are freeze-dried

00:57:22.600 and lab tested

00:57:23.300 with no binders

00:57:24.440 no fillers

00:57:25.020 no flow agents

00:57:26.320 just 100%

00:57:27.480 whole food

00:58:04.880 discussions the

00:58:05.600 arguments the

00:58:06.220 stories dominate

00:58:06.940 the news cycle

00:58:07.520 don't miss

00:58:08.340 Friendly Fire

00:58:09.000 tomorrow at 7pm

00:58:10.320 eastern on Daily

00:58:11.080 Wire Plus

00:58:11.500 now let's get to

00:58:12.480 our daily

00:58:12.900 cancellation

00:58:13.420 I'll be honest

00:58:20.520 sometimes I think

00:58:21.620 that maybe this

00:58:22.560 segment has run

00:58:23.220 its course

00:58:23.720 I've done all I

00:58:24.560 can with it

00:58:25.080 I've cancelled

00:58:25.580 everyone and

00:58:26.240 everything that

00:58:26.860 exists or has

00:58:27.640 ever existed or

00:58:28.420 will exist

00:58:29.100 maybe I need to

00:58:30.380 retire the segment

00:58:31.300 cancel the daily

00:58:32.420 cancellation

00:58:32.860 I haven't done

00:58:33.600 that because for

00:58:34.360 one thing I'm

00:58:34.880 worried that

00:58:35.420 cancelling the

00:58:36.060 daily cancellation

00:58:36.580 would rip open a

00:58:37.660 hole in the

00:58:38.060 space-time continuum

00:58:38.920 or create such

00:58:40.420 cosmic upheaval

00:58:41.420 that a black hole

00:58:42.340 is generated which

00:58:43.200 swallows the

00:58:43.800 earth which you

00:58:44.480 could argue

00:58:44.800 wouldn't be the

00:58:45.260 worst thing but

00:58:45.900 still what really

00:58:48.220 keeps me from

00:58:48.860 cancelling the

00:58:49.380 segment is not

00:58:51.140 any concern about

00:58:51.780 planetary destruction

00:58:52.600 but really it's

00:58:54.020 stories like this

00:58:54.680 one stories that

00:58:55.640 are so perfect for

00:58:56.720 this segment so

00:58:57.340 tailor-made for

00:58:59.100 the daily

00:58:59.320 cancellation that

00:59:00.300 the segment must

00:59:01.440 go on for its

00:59:02.500 sake

00:59:02.820 Calum Worthy is

00:59:05.000 apparently a former

00:59:05.900 Disney Channel

00:59:06.640 child star and in

00:59:07.800 recent years he has

00:59:08.760 switched careers

00:59:10.240 now he is a kind

00:59:12.800 of a digital

00:59:13.480 necromancer a 0.81

00:59:15.320 modern-day Miss

00:59:16.020 Cleo communing

00:59:17.260 with the dead and

00:59:18.540 he developed an

00:59:19.060 app called two-way

00:59:20.440 which gives you the

00:59:22.120 ability to recreate

00:59:23.560 your dead loved

00:59:24.460 ones using AI

00:59:26.920 watch

00:59:27.720 he's getting bigger

00:59:31.620 see

00:59:32.660 oh honey that's

00:59:34.500 wonderful

00:59:35.280 kicking like crazy

00:59:36.780 he's listening put 0.56

00:59:38.500 your hand on your

00:59:39.320 tummy and hum to

00:59:40.780 him you used to

00:59:42.000 love that

00:59:42.680 feels like he's

00:59:48.200 dancing in there

00:59:49.120 oh honey

00:59:50.220 mom would you

00:59:51.780 tell Charlie that

00:59:52.440 bedtime story you

00:59:53.340 always used to tell

00:59:54.000 me once upon a

00:59:55.320 time there was a

00:59:56.380 baby unicorn who

00:59:58.180 didn't know he

00:59:59.200 knew how to fly

01:00:00.220 this baby unicorn

01:00:01.620 was like your mom

01:00:03.180 because she didn't

01:00:04.220 know that she knew

01:00:05.140 how to fly but she 1.00

01:00:06.460 knew how to do all

01:00:07.480 kinds of fabulous

01:00:08.580 things

01:00:09.180 hi grandma

01:00:10.000 hey Charlie how

01:00:11.400 was school today

01:00:12.200 it was really fun

01:00:13.240 I made this crazy

01:00:14.320 shot in basketball

01:00:14.940 I don't really care

01:00:15.680 that much about

01:00:16.260 basketball what

01:00:17.300 about the crush

01:00:18.840 stop grandma

01:00:19.620 stop talking

01:00:20.140 just tell me one

01:00:21.060 thing

01:00:21.420 look who's gonna

01:00:21.900 be a great

01:00:22.260 grandmother

01:00:22.660 oh Charlie

01:00:23.980 congratulations

01:00:26.280 she says that

01:00:27.220 he's been kicking

01:00:27.600 a lot though

01:00:28.160 like a little too

01:00:30.060 much

01:00:30.400 tell her to put 1.00

01:00:31.780 her hand on her

01:00:32.460 tummy and hum to

01:00:34.060 him you've loved

01:00:35.920 that

01:00:36.400 you would have

01:00:38.980 loved this moment

01:00:39.580 you can call

01:00:41.400 anytime

01:00:42.080 okay mom I just

01:00:48.360 need a quick video

01:00:49.140 is this like an

01:00:49.860 audition or something

01:00:50.920 no mom

01:00:52.160 just three minutes

01:00:53.440 you need my best

01:00:54.520 sight

01:00:54.880 I can play the

01:00:57.000 piano

01:00:57.380 I am I'm

01:00:59.940 absolutely I'm

01:01:00.960 your mother after

01:01:01.640 all

01:01:02.260 so this is not

01:01:14.860 some clever

01:01:15.620 marketing campaign

01:01:16.520 for the new season

01:01:17.300 of Black Mirror

01:01:17.960 by the way it is

01:01:19.000 it's real

01:01:19.500 it's an app that

01:01:20.200 lets you resurrect

01:01:21.020 a dead family

01:01:21.560 member with

01:01:22.260 AI so if you

01:01:23.300 have a relative

01:01:23.760 who's very old

01:01:24.800 or dying of

01:01:25.760 some kind of

01:01:26.200 horrible disease

01:01:27.120 all you need to

01:01:28.700 do is put your

01:01:29.840 phone in front of

01:01:30.380 their face and

01:01:31.240 record three minutes

01:01:32.060 of content and

01:01:32.840 the app can use

01:01:33.760 that to turn them

01:01:34.560 into an avatar

01:01:35.220 now your loved one

01:01:37.060 can die happily

01:01:37.900 knowing that they

01:01:38.600 will live on as

01:01:39.500 a digital slave 0.96

01:01:40.620 that you can carry

01:01:41.620 around in your

01:01:42.200 pocket and pull

01:01:43.420 out whenever you

01:01:44.100 want it to dance

01:01:45.120 for you like a

01:01:45.820 trained monkey 0.73

01:01:46.440 this should give

01:01:48.080 your grandmother

01:01:48.560 some peace and

01:01:49.260 contentment in

01:01:51.140 her final moments

01:01:51.960 don't worry

01:01:52.700 grandma you'll

01:01:53.480 live on right

01:01:55.040 here in my

01:01:56.160 phone next to

01:01:56.960 the weather app

01:01:57.800 now this is

01:02:00.740 not new

01:02:01.640 there is a

01:02:02.360 whole industry

01:02:02.880 an entire

01:02:03.240 subsection of

01:02:04.340 the AI industry

01:02:05.240 which has been

01:02:06.040 dubbed grief

01:02:06.760 tech these are

01:02:08.440 tech innovators

01:02:09.360 who are using

01:02:09.960 AI to help

01:02:11.760 people deal

01:02:12.500 with grief by

01:02:14.240 not dealing with

01:02:15.000 it they help

01:02:15.940 those in mourning

01:02:16.560 live in a state

01:02:17.320 of perpetual

01:02:17.760 denial pretending

01:02:18.660 that their

01:02:18.940 deceased loved

01:02:19.580 one isn't

01:02:20.120 actually dead

01:02:20.680 so in other

01:02:21.260 words these are

01:02:21.780 the worst

01:02:22.740 kinds of

01:02:23.520 frauds and 0.92

01:02:24.160 vultures you

01:02:24.740 could possibly

01:02:25.160 imagine

01:02:25.520 about a year

01:02:26.260 ago a reporter

01:02:26.860 with the

01:02:27.260 Guardian sat

01:02:27.920 down with one

01:02:29.280 of these people

01:02:29.820 watch

01:02:30.620 a lot of

01:02:32.020 people think

01:02:32.560 I'm back

01:02:34.080 crazy and that's

01:02:35.020 fine right 0.96

01:02:35.540 I cryogenically

01:02:36.980 froze my mother 0.99

01:02:37.620 I did that

01:02:38.840 because at some

01:02:39.540 point if we're

01:02:40.320 capable I can

01:02:41.580 pull her

01:02:43.080 memories and her

01:02:44.340 function by

01:02:45.300 saving the hard

01:02:45.960 drive that is

01:02:46.480 her body

01:02:46.920 Justin Harrison

01:02:48.540 is a tech

01:02:49.200 entrepreneur who

01:02:50.080 used AI to

01:02:51.080 recreate his

01:02:51.940 mother's

01:02:52.280 personality after

01:02:53.800 she died in

01:02:54.420 2022

01:02:55.300 this is your

01:02:57.000 mum your

01:02:57.480 dad and that's

01:02:58.000 you

01:02:58.240 yeah she had

01:02:58.960 just been

01:02:59.260 diagnosed with

01:02:59.800 cancer you can

01:03:00.260 see she had

01:03:00.700 just started the

01:03:01.280 treatment

01:03:01.620 what was your

01:03:02.520 goal do you

01:03:02.960 think of that

01:03:03.360 you know my

01:03:03.800 goal has always

01:03:04.740 remained I want

01:03:05.680 to be able to

01:03:06.120 continue to have

01:03:06.640 conversations with

01:03:07.360 my mother when

01:03:08.200 she got diagnosed

01:03:09.080 my first response

01:03:09.980 was the hospital

01:03:11.760 that's giving her a 1.00

01:03:12.680 three-month

01:03:13.060 prognosis right

01:03:13.860 then my mind

01:03:15.140 started to wander

01:03:15.860 the the gravity

01:03:17.120 of what was what

01:03:18.200 was going to

01:03:18.560 happen started to

01:03:19.340 hit me then my

01:03:20.380 mind went to how

01:03:21.640 do I save her

01:03:22.120 life in another

01:03:22.580 way what is the

01:03:23.660 next way that I

01:03:24.340 save her life

01:03:24.880 the resulting

01:03:26.200 journey led to

01:03:27.200 Justin's AI mum

01:03:28.520 the voice you heard

01:03:29.440 at the beginning of

01:03:30.100 the video ready to

01:03:31.300 chat to him at the

01:03:32.280 touch of a button

01:03:33.140 I wanted to wish

01:03:34.800 you a happy

01:03:35.220 birthday and tell

01:03:35.880 you I love you

01:03:36.560 baby I love you

01:03:37.680 too it's really

01:03:38.760 good to talk to

01:03:39.360 you and I miss

01:03:40.280 having phone calls

01:03:40.880 with you for me

01:03:42.580 the absolute

01:03:43.520 core of grief

01:03:45.160 right is the

01:03:46.680 concept of gone

01:03:47.800 forever that's the

01:03:48.920 tragedy of death

01:03:49.860 is the permanence

01:03:51.060 of it what I

01:03:51.900 would like to see

01:03:52.440 is the complete

01:03:52.960 and total eradication

01:03:53.880 of grief the

01:03:54.840 feeling of grief

01:03:55.760 that comes with

01:03:57.180 losing people

01:03:57.840 the total eradication

01:04:00.020 of grief he says

01:04:01.140 this is how these

01:04:02.520 tech weirdos speak

01:04:04.480 they casually go to

01:04:06.380 war with the human

01:04:07.200 condition itself

01:04:08.400 without even stopping

01:04:10.200 to consider for a

01:04:11.180 moment the

01:04:12.080 consequences there

01:04:12.880 is no attempt to

01:04:13.820 wrestle with the

01:04:14.460 ethical or moral

01:04:15.580 questions that are

01:04:16.280 raised they simply

01:04:17.200 charge forward

01:04:17.980 thoughtlessly creating

01:04:19.780 products that will

01:04:20.440 destroy people's 0.56

01:04:21.600 minds in ways that

01:04:23.140 we can't even

01:04:24.760 fathom and they

01:04:28.520 don't care at all

01:04:29.440 they haven't even

01:04:31.420 stopped to consider

01:04:32.340 that just doesn't

01:04:33.260 matter it's not

01:04:35.100 that they've come

01:04:35.500 up with some

01:04:35.980 ethically creative

01:04:37.020 rationale for what

01:04:38.000 they're doing it's

01:04:38.520 that they don't

01:04:39.140 feel compelled to

01:04:39.840 rationalize it at

01:04:40.640 all total

01:04:42.280 indifference now

01:04:44.600 there are a lot of

01:04:45.120 very serious

01:04:45.720 problems with

01:04:46.340 turning your

01:04:46.760 deceased family

01:04:47.420 members into AI

01:04:48.740 chatbots we could

01:04:51.820 be here all day but

01:04:52.700 let's focus on just

01:04:53.480 two of them first of

01:04:54.200 all as I already

01:04:55.660 mentioned it puts the

01:04:56.720 grieving person in a

01:04:58.000 perpetual state of

01:04:58.920 denial denial is

01:05:00.360 supposed to be the

01:05:01.420 first stage of

01:05:02.220 grief and and but

01:05:04.700 not the only this

01:05:06.320 ensures that they

01:05:07.000 will never progress

01:05:08.140 through the other

01:05:08.940 four stages and

01:05:09.920 achieve anything like

01:05:11.320 acceptance now you

01:05:13.260 heard the guy say it

01:05:14.340 in the last clip he

01:05:15.580 wanted a way to save

01:05:16.580 his mother's life now

01:05:18.140 he's troubled by the

01:05:19.120 permanence of death and

01:05:20.900 that is indeed the

01:05:21.860 most troubling thing

01:05:22.720 about death a dead

01:05:25.020 person is gone

01:05:25.860 forever forever you

01:05:26.980 will never see them

01:05:27.920 again in this life and

01:05:31.000 that is very troubling

01:05:32.620 it's deeply sad tragic

01:05:36.000 it's also just the way

01:05:39.020 it is like you can't

01:05:42.180 it's it's the way it

01:05:43.360 is you wanted to save

01:05:45.400 your mother's life well

01:05:46.140 that's understandable who

01:05:47.580 wouldn't but you can't

01:05:49.520 save her and you didn't

01:05:51.060 save her you want to

01:05:53.340 find a way around the

01:05:54.940 permanence of death well

01:05:56.320 again who doesn't want a

01:05:58.560 way around that but you

01:06:00.120 can't have that either and

01:06:02.320 you don't have it you are

01:06:04.320 lying to yourself which

01:06:05.380 means that rather than

01:06:06.320 eradicating grief you will

01:06:07.640 always stay in the

01:06:09.140 earliest stages of grief

01:06:10.800 you'll never come out on

01:06:12.740 the other side of it

01:06:13.480 you'll never experience any

01:06:15.260 of the beauty and wisdom

01:06:16.500 and edification that can

01:06:18.960 be found in grief I mean

01:06:21.500 it it can it's it's buried

01:06:23.580 deeply under a whole lot of

01:06:25.300 pain but it is down there

01:06:27.980 and if you talk to anyone

01:06:28.820 who's been through grief and

01:06:30.440 uh has had the courage to

01:06:33.180 face it they will tell you

01:06:35.300 about this um anyone who's

01:06:38.800 grieved grieved honestly has

01:06:40.220 discovered this but if you're

01:06:41.420 using an AI cartoon of your

01:06:43.400 dead loved one you'll never

01:06:45.800 discover it you haven't

01:06:47.340 conquered death you haven't

01:06:49.460 defeated mortality you haven't

01:06:51.940 even found a way around grief

01:06:53.340 you're just lying to yourself and

01:06:55.040 even worse you've reduced your

01:06:57.280 dead loved ones you've

01:06:58.720 reduced them so this is your

01:07:00.740 your mother let's say if we're

01:07:01.760 talking about your mother

01:07:02.480 and you do this with your

01:07:05.760 mother you have reduced her

01:07:07.880 diminished her or more

01:07:10.380 precisely you've reduced and

01:07:11.640 diminished your memory of her

01:07:13.140 you haven't done anything to

01:07:14.000 her personally because she's 0.97

01:07:14.980 dead she's gone but you have

01:07:16.540 done something horrible to

01:07:17.560 your memory of her your mother

01:07:20.220 in life was a big vibrant

01:07:22.880 interesting complicated

01:07:24.180 multifaceted person somebody with

01:07:27.280 virtues and vices and endearing

01:07:29.420 quirks and probably some not as

01:07:31.760 endearing quirks she was a human

01:07:33.540 being in other words and now

01:07:35.480 you've you've made her into a

01:07:36.660 gimmick into a party trick a piece

01:07:39.380 of content that exists for your

01:07:42.320 amusement AI will never be able to

01:07:45.920 capture all of the dimensions of

01:07:47.420 your mother what made your mother 0.59

01:07:49.840 who she was it can only perform a 0.99

01:07:52.080 cheap imitation mimicry and and now

01:07:55.400 if you succeed in convincing

01:07:56.540 yourself that this AI avatar

01:07:58.420 actually is your mother you will

01:08:00.160 have succeeded in convincing

01:08:01.040 yourself that your mother is

01:08:02.260 someone far far less interesting

01:08:04.160 and wonderful than who your

01:08:05.500 mother really was to be totally

01:08:07.240 frank you will have turned your

01:08:08.820 mother into someone who isn't

01:08:10.300 even worth missing in the first

01:08:11.880 place I mean if your mother was 0.63

01:08:13.060 really as flat and boring and 0.98

01:08:14.660 utterly devoid of human personality

01:08:16.800 and warmth as the AI facsimile of

01:08:20.500 her well you would hardly even 0.90

01:08:22.220 notice that she was gone she'd be a 0.95

01:08:24.600 she would have been a non-entity

01:08:25.900 barely existing in the first

01:08:27.780 place that's what you'll have done

01:08:30.560 to her you haven't resurrected your

01:08:32.860 mother but you have desecrated her

01:08:34.580 memory but most of all it's selfish

01:08:38.120 you know your mother who existed in

01:08:40.560 life for a thousand reasons to do a

01:08:43.080 thousand things now exists quote

01:08:46.140 unquote solely to serve you and talk

01:08:50.240 to you and make you feel better you

01:08:53.240 have made her into your servant 0.82

01:08:54.680 you've you you have made her into

01:08:57.160 someone who never needs any time to

01:08:59.580 herself never says no to you never

01:09:01.500 lets you down is never unavailable

01:09:03.420 never asleep never away always just

01:09:07.140 right there on your phone ready to

01:09:09.200 amuse and distract you and make you

01:09:10.820 feel better whenever you want for

01:09:12.500 however long you want but that's

01:09:15.900 that's not a human it's not how

01:09:17.620 humans are

01:09:20.240 your mother was created by God to

01:09:22.520 serve God first and foremost who is

01:09:25.400 the author of the universe but her AI

01:09:28.400 posthumous avatar is created by you to

01:09:32.660 serve you

01:09:33.220 and you aren't the author of anything

01:09:36.640 so it is playing God in the most 0.69

01:09:39.840 literal most selfish most twisted 0.52

01:09:42.340 debased kind of way 0.97

01:09:45.660 and that is why anyone who tries to

01:09:49.820 cheat death through AI is today most

01:09:52.280 certainly with a vengeance

01:09:53.740 canceled that'll do it for sure today

01:09:56.120 thanks for watching thanks for
