00:00:13.760Today on the Matt Walsh Show, at a hearing over the murder of Irina Zarutska in North Carolina,
00:00:18.120an elected official reveals that he is so clueless about his own job that he would not be able to pass a third grade civics exam.
00:00:24.700I like to say that he's an extreme case, but the fact is that our government at every level is infested with the dumbest humans who've ever lived.
00:00:31.240Also, the House passes a voter ID bill. Democrats are taking about as well as you might expect.
00:00:35.720An Olympic athlete cries on camera because his girlfriend broke up with him.
00:00:40.540We'll talk about all that and more today on the Matt Walsh Show.
00:00:54.700Your online activity is constantly tracked and sold by data brokers, companies that profit by packaging your personal information
00:01:14.020and selling it to advertisers, tech companies, and others.
00:01:16.920Once your data is out there, it can be used for all sorts of nefarious things.
00:01:20.040So if you want more control over your digital privacy, you need our sponsor, ExpressVPN.
00:01:25.080ExpressVPN is a virtual private network that encrypts your internet connection and routes it through secure servers,
00:01:30.760protecting your online activity and keeping your browsing private.
00:01:33.980It also masks your IP address, the unique identifier used to follow you around on the internet.
00:01:39.580I use ExpressVPN all the time, especially while traveling and doing research on public Wi-Fi.
00:01:44.220It's nice to know I can still do a deep dive without worrying about who can potentially see my data
00:09:23.240That's how hopelessly clueless this guy is.
00:09:25.280Now, to be clear, this is not some dumb viral gotcha moment.
00:09:30.720It's also not a gaffe, which is how media outlets in North Carolina are describing this video.
00:09:36.880It's directly relevant to his ability to perform his job.
00:09:40.220And it says a lot about how we select our leaders in this country.
00:09:44.220It cannot be stated enough that an elected official or anyone in government not being able to list the branches of government is a shocking level of ignorance, given their job description.
00:09:55.000Imagine if you sent a contract to your lawyer, asked him to look it over and break it down for you.
00:10:00.240And then he sent you back an email saying, oh, sorry, what's a contract?
00:10:03.820When you say contract, what do you mean exactly?
00:10:06.200That's the level of rank stupidity we're dealing with here.
00:10:12.040Now, of course, if you work for the judicial branch, which the sheriff apparently believes he does, I mean, he obviously doesn't know what the word judicial means.
00:10:46.580It's clearly an issue that causes a lot of confusion for this particular sheriff.
00:10:51.200Now, in a separate interview a few months ago, the sheriff suggested that unless his bosses in the judicial branch give him permission, then he doesn't have to follow North Carolina law.
00:11:15.520You will never hear a lawmaker or any judicial, I mean, a lawmaker or ICE or DHS says this.
00:11:22.860Sheriff McFadden is not following the law.
00:11:25.860They will use the word cooperation because they want me to do something that is not, is outside of the law.
00:11:32.360If a federal judge or a magistrate or a state judicial official has not signed a paper, then it is not legally my book.
00:11:41.120So he implies that he can't do anything to enforce immigration law unless a federal judge or magistrate or state judicial official has signed a paper.
00:11:49.860And once again, this strongly suggests that he has no idea what his actual responsibilities are.
00:11:54.860The way immigration law works, deportation orders are mostly handled by officials and administrators within the executive branch, including immigration judges and other officers.
00:12:04.020These are people who work for the DOJ.
00:12:05.920They aren't part of the judiciary branch, and in the vast majority of cases, they aren't federal judges.
00:12:11.480And therefore, since North Carolina law requires that the sheriff cooperate with ICE, he's actually not allowed to wait for a federal judge or magistrate in the judiciary branch to sign a paper before he does anything.
00:12:24.300And the sheriff doesn't remotely understand any of this, which is obviously a big problem for the top law enforcement official in the county.
00:12:30.480But the really amusing part of that clip is from the beginning, when he says something like, you'll never hear a lawmaker say that I'm not following the law.
00:12:38.820You'll never hear a lawmaker say that old Sheriff McFadden isn't following the law.
00:12:42.500But in reality, you will hear lawmakers say that.
00:12:45.500At the hearing the other day, several lawmakers took turns one after another saying that.
00:12:50.180And it wasn't exactly a tough argument to make since the sheriff himself stated that he doesn't he doesn't follow the law and apparently doesn't know what the law is or even what laws are in general.
00:13:01.320This is another top 10 moment from that hearing.
00:13:16.320With that, do you think your personal opinions have any authority to override statute or do you believe your office holds any authority to nullify law?
00:15:11.660If Irena's law had gone into effect before last Friday, or if Irena's law had been into effect before Irena passed in August, would she still be alive today?
00:15:27.600You know, I think that we are, and here's the sad part, we are over-exaggerating just one stabbing death, and we're over-exaggerating just stabbing on the light rail.
00:15:38.700Think about how many people were injured or stabbed that same day when the person was stabbed on the light rail.
00:15:45.980And not saying that Irena's law, Irena, we could have prevented that, and we never would know if we could prevent that.
00:15:52.840But the young man who took her life was diagnosed bipolar and schizophrenia, okay?
00:16:00.460But 618 people inside the Mecklenburg County Detention Center had that same diagnosis.
00:16:07.700And so it's not unique, but it's unique because it was caught on film, it was nationally sensationalized, and we used the word refugee instead of immigration.
00:16:20.140So, again, we changed the wording to fit the agenda.
00:16:26.320Let's just stop and think about his answer here.
00:16:28.500This is how he attempts to explain away the stabbing death of a woman on a train in his county.
00:16:35.680Although we have to allow for the possibility that he might not know what a train is or what the word stab means or what death is or what planet he's currently on.
00:16:43.880But the excuse he's going with is that, yeah, Irena was stabbed to death, but people are stabbed to death all the time in Charlotte.
00:16:49.500People are getting constantly butchered by schizophrenic hobos where I work.
00:16:53.320Look, his point is that he's so bad at his job that nobody is safe anyway.
00:16:59.160Everyone's getting stabbed all the time.
00:17:13.220This is his prepared response during a televised interview to a very straightforward question,
00:17:17.380which is, would Irena's law have saved her life?
00:17:19.560First, he could not make it any more obvious that he doesn't care, doesn't even want to consider the possibility that something can actually be done
00:17:27.340in order to save the lives of innocent women on the Charlotte light rail system in the future.
00:17:31.640He views the routine slaughter of Charlotte's population as a badge of honor.
00:17:36.000And to all appearances, that's because he's simply too stupid to understand what he's even saying
00:17:41.060or how it sounds to people with an IQ north of room temperature.
00:17:44.640His only defense during that oversight committee hearing in North Carolina was a very predictable one.
00:21:27.900I have directly spoke with that family member about that person being displayed as someone inside our detention center simply just making music.
00:21:42.600It is part of rehabilitation you can look at many studies and see that music helps us so we've taken this out of content of one particular thing.
00:21:53.440We should be talking about the mental health that we incorporated inside a detention center North Carolina first mental health institution inside of a detention center.
00:22:05.580Now, at this point, even though this man is a sheriff, an elected official, obviously just a bad person all around, you almost feel bad making fun of how stupid he is.
00:22:20.360I mean, it feels a bit like making fun of a baby.
00:22:44.340Okay, yeah, put the content into better content.
00:22:49.500So the content of what the lawmaker asked is bad because it's obviously bad to let convicted murderers and rapists play around in a music studio and pretend to be rappers.
00:22:58.700When we're supposed to be punishing them for raping and killing people, that's bad content.
00:23:03.100But he wants to take that bad content and put it into better content.
00:23:39.080Well, because she says the sheriff threatened to remove her law enforcement protection unless she voted the way he wanted her to on a piece of legislation concerning ICE.
00:23:48.240Yes, the sheriff threatened a sitting lawmaker in order to pressure her to vote against federal law enforcement.
00:23:54.880Quote, Cunningham is one of five people who have filed a petition to remove Sheriff McFadden from office,
00:23:59.800alleging that the sheriff threatened to withhold law enforcement protection for the legislature,
00:24:04.100a legislator, unless she voted to sustain the governor's veto of a bill that the sheriff opposed.
00:24:09.440The sheriff told the legislator that his office could not or would not protect her from violence if she cast a legislative vote in favor of a bill that McFadden opposed.
00:24:19.340The petition states legislation was designed to strengthen cooperation between local law enforcement agencies and the federal agency, immigration and customs enforcement.
00:24:26.480So this guy, and you hear that and you think, well, that's so, you want to say that's outlandish.
00:25:51.880Because as you probably remember, he once, years ago, asked in Admiral whether the island of Guam might capsize if too many Marines were stationed there.
00:26:02.460And, you know, why not just take a trip down memory lane?
00:28:21.040Because if they did, then that concern might be legitimate.
00:28:25.640Which raises the question of how the islands stay in place.
00:28:28.780Like, if that's the case, if they're just floating there, then why hasn't Hawaii bumped into Asia at this point?
00:28:37.540Maybe Hank, you know, maybe he thinks that, you know, there's like teams of mermaids under the islands holding them in place, holding on to ropes.
00:28:48.360And presumably, his voters also think that islands can capsize if a bunch of people stand on them and are maybe being kept in place by mermaids.
00:28:54.980So at a certain point, you can't really blame Hank Johnson.
00:28:58.440You have to start looking at the voters.
00:29:03.920So is the state of New Jersey, where a lawmaker named LaMonica MacGyver just axed the director of ICE some questions at a congressional hearing.
00:29:49.040As I said, the issues we're debating here are important to ones that members feel deeply about.
00:29:53.600While vigorous disagreement is part of the legislative process, members are reminded that we must adhere to established standards of decorum and debate.
00:30:04.420And I will continue to remind members that while oversight is important, aggressively attacking those witnesses personally is inappropriate and not in keeping with the traditions of our committee.
00:30:14.820Hey, Mr. Chairman, I'm just asking a question.
00:30:17.520You guys are always talking about religion here in the Bible.
00:30:20.720I mean, it's okay for me to ask a question, right?
