The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 561 - Netflix Gets Into The Child Sexual Exploitation Business

00:00:00.000 Today on The Matt Wall Show, Netflix has officially released the Cuties movie about

00:00:04.340 twerking 11-year-olds. Many defenders of the film and the media said that the outrage against the

00:00:08.520 film was off-base and that its detractors were taking things out of context. Well,

00:00:13.700 now the full movie is publicly available, and it turns out it's even worse than we thought.

00:00:19.120 Also, five headlines, including another shocking scandal that is sure to bring down Donald Trump.

00:00:23.160 At least that's what they tell me on CNN. But what's the truth behind that? We'll get into it.

00:00:27.900 In our daily cancellation, I am sad to report that I must cancel my wife yet again. I hate to do it,

00:00:35.260 but I think this is our seventh cancellation. All of that on the way. But first, and this will become

00:00:41.200 even more apparent in the topic we're about to jump into here, but it's really hard these days to find

00:00:46.020 companies that support your values. So we have two challenges as consumers. Find companies that have

00:00:52.480 great products and services. And then two, find companies that check off that box, but also share

00:00:58.340 our values. Well, I'm happy to report that Charity Mobile checks both boxes, which is why I'm a Charity

00:01:04.580 Mobile customer. You should be too. Charity Mobile is the pro-life phone company. What does that mean? 0.94

00:01:09.120 Well, it means 5% off your monthly plan price goes to pro-life, pro-family charities of your choice.

00:01:14.300 New activations and eligible accounts get a free cell phone with free activation and free shipping.

00:01:19.220 So there are a lot of perks as well as supporting this cause that's so important. There's no contracts,

00:01:24.080 no termination fees, and no risk with a 30-day guarantee. The other great thing, you've got live

00:01:29.120 customer service based in the USA. And you also have the ability to block use of cellular data,

00:01:34.780 picture messages, text messages on any and all or all of your accounts, all of the lines on your

00:01:40.300 account. So you get that additional security as well. Listen, you can help build a culture of life

00:01:44.580 in America while supporting a pro-life company. This is the ultimate sort of win-win. You get

00:01:50.260 something you need, good service, awesome product, a company that's great to do business with. And at

00:01:55.980 the same time, you're supporting the pro-life cause, which is the most central, the most foundational

00:01:59.920 cause of all. Call Charity Mobile at 1-877-474-3662 or chat with us online at charitymobile.com.

00:02:09.900 Okay. Here's a company that does not share our values. Several weeks ago, Netflix began promoting

00:02:17.280 a new film from French director Maimouna Dankore, probably mispronouncing that, but the movie is

00:02:23.580 called Cuties. And the poster featuring scantily clad children posing suggestively caused well-deserved

00:02:29.440 outrage when it first appeared. The Sundance Film Festival, which honored the film with a directing

00:02:34.180 award, provided a synopsis that didn't do much to quell the anger either. According to Sundance,

00:02:38.900 it says, Cuties tells the story of an 11-year-old girl named Amy who, quote, through an ignited

00:02:43.740 awareness of her burgeoning femininity, propels the group to enthusiastically embrace an increasingly

00:02:49.600 sensual dance routine, sparking the girls' hope to twerk their way to stardom at a local 0.99

00:02:55.120 dance contest. It's perhaps worth mentioning here that Sundance was co-founded by a man who

00:03:01.540 is now in prison for child sexual abuse. I don't know, I just wanted to throw that in there.

00:03:05.620 The film's official description from Netflix was only slightly less grotesque-sounding,

00:03:10.520 and they said Amy Levin becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them,

00:03:15.360 she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family's traditions. 0.66

00:03:19.580 Now, after the backlash, Netflix apologized, not for the film itself, but simply for the

00:03:24.120 inappropriate artwork, they said. The streaming service also changed the synopsis, getting rid of

00:03:29.340 any mention of twerking, and instead calling it a free-spirited dance crew.

00:03:33.860 Netflix did not bother to explain why they used that, quote-unquote,

00:03:38.320 inappropriate artwork in the first place to promote the film. You know, if it doesn't actually

00:03:43.140 reflect the content, and if they're not trying to attract an audience of pedophiles who wish to

00:03:48.420 see pubescent girls gyrate on stage, then what was the thought process behind the way it was 1.00

00:03:53.320 originally marketed? We were never told. The website Bustle said that the poster was simply

00:03:59.200 botched. Now, I can understand botching a poster with a typo or some other error due to carelessness,

00:04:06.520 but how do you botch something by accidentally turning it into softcore child porn? That's my

00:04:11.900 question. Many other media outlets rushed to the defense of the twerking children movie.

00:04:17.180 An article by Anna Menta on The Decider scolded the film's detractors, baselessly linking the

00:04:22.980 criticism to the QAnon conspiracy theory and said that we all owe the director an apology. Richard

00:04:29.960 Broder at The New Yorker called the movie extraordinary and blasted the scurrilous campaign

00:04:36.340 launched by right-wingers to criticize the movie. The Rolling Stones' David Feer gave Cuties a

00:04:41.180 positive review, saying that the outrage is all the product of a major misleading marketing mistake.

00:04:47.440 The Independent joined the chorus of defenders, declaring, quote,

00:04:50.580 Cuties on Netflix is too moving a film to be marred by one bad taste poster. Many outlets such as NPR

00:04:57.760 claim that the film actually criticizes and exposes the sexualization of children. Actress Tessa Thompson

00:05:03.840 said that she was gutted by the, quote, beautiful film and that the, quote, current discourse misses the

00:05:10.060 fact that the movie comments on the hyper-sexualization of pre-adolescent girls. Overall, the outrage

00:05:17.240 certainly did not deter the media from hailing Cuties as an artistic triumph, as you could tell.

00:05:22.520 In fact, as we speak, it sits at 90% fresh on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, with critics

00:05:28.480 saying other things like, it's refreshingly frank about class, religion, and burgeoning sexuality

00:05:33.740 in ways that mainstream American movies would never dare. And also, quote, Cuties certainly deserves to be

00:05:40.220 seen. For a while, the film's valiant defenders in the media and Hollywood had the advantage of being

00:05:47.000 the only people to have actually seen it. The rest of us could but make assumptions based on the,

00:05:53.040 it would seem rather significant fact, that it's a movie about 11-year-olds twerking, which Netflix

00:05:58.000 had decided to market with a picture of said 11-year-olds barely clothed in striking sexual poses. But you

00:06:04.960 can't judge a movie by its child porn cover, we were told. And then yesterday, the film was finally

00:06:10.060 released. It turns out, unsurprisingly, you can. As fuller clips from the film now circulate online,

00:06:18.040 I won't play any of them here because honestly, I'd worry about the FBI breaking down my door if I did.

00:06:22.940 It's clear that those of us who criticized the movie actually understated our case. It is, if anything,

00:06:28.240 way worse than we assumed and feared. Some examples. One scene features the 11-year-old

00:06:35.420 girls gyrating and slapping each other on the butt as the camera zooms in for close-ups. Another 0.89

00:06:40.760 shows Amy in her underwear furiously thrusting her body as she lays on the floor. Again, camera gives 0.93

00:06:46.720 close-ups. In another, the girls dance provocatively for two grown men, one of whom looks on with obvious

00:06:53.200 and creepy satisfaction. In still another, Amy pulls down her pants and takes a picture of her 1.00

00:06:59.180 crotch and posts it online. In the penultimate scene, which was featured on the original poster

00:07:04.740 before Netflix changed it, that scene is significantly more disturbing than the already disturbing image

00:07:10.460 let on. The scene drags on for several minutes, the dancing is highly, highly sexualized, and the

00:07:16.960 camera, as always, zooms in for crotch shots and other close-ups. This is not a commentary on child

00:07:23.920 sexual exploitation. It is child exploitation, clear as day, in all its sadism. And remember,

00:07:31.260 the characters and the actors who play them are 11 years old. With these horrific scenes now publicly

00:07:39.160 available, it seems almost pointless to engage with the plainly absurd notion that the filmmakers had

00:07:45.780 11-year-old children writhe around and gyrate on stage while barely clothed as some kind of protest

00:07:51.880 against the sexualization of children. It would be like a slasher film featuring several scenes of

00:07:57.520 various screaming victims being disemboweled, claiming in its defense that it only meant to comment

00:08:03.220 on the problem of graphic violence in film. Indeed, that actually is the defense often offered for

00:08:09.740 slasher flicks, and it's as weak in that case as it is here. The guy who made Texas Chainsaw

00:08:15.460 Massacre may have told himself that he had higher intentions, but the fact remains that most people

00:08:20.420 who watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre just want to see, well, a Chainsaw Massacre. I suppose when it

00:08:26.320 comes down to it, no filmmaker wants to come out and admit that they produced gratuitous garbage for a

00:08:31.980 lowest common denominator audience, but many filmmakers do produce that sort of material for that sort of

00:08:37.960 audience, whether they admit it or not. And Cuties belongs on that ghastly heap for sure, hopefully

00:08:44.240 buried underneath it somewhere deep where it cannot be seen. Despite the pretensions of Anna Menta at the 0.99

00:08:50.900 Decider and many others in media, the normalization of pedophilia is not a right-wing fairy tale or a

00:08:57.720 QAnon conspiracy theory. It is real. It is happening. Here's exhibit A, or, you know, not even exhibit A.

00:09:07.000 This is a long line of exhibits. It's right in front of us for us to see. You know, yes, do you have the

00:09:16.100 normalization of pedophilia in a culture where a movie like this not just exists, okay? It's not just

00:09:23.400 this, that some pervert, some creep made this movie, and it's out there in the hinterland somewhere,

00:09:29.540 out on the fringes, and no one's seen it. This is being promoted and supplied to us, to the American 0.93

00:09:39.760 audience, by a billion-dollar streaming platform. And major media publications have come out in its

00:09:45.680 defense, strenuously, to defend it. You wouldn't have that in a culture that didn't normalize pedophilia

00:09:53.640 in child sexual exploitation. I mean, this is a country where children are sent to the library

00:09:59.380 to be read stories by drag queens. This is a country where, you know, Planned Parenthood goes

00:10:07.000 into middle schools and high schools to hand out birth control. This is a country where we've got,

00:10:12.340 you know, quote-unquote, sex ed in elementary schools telling kids about masturbation and other things. 0.97

00:10:17.240 So yes, this is a real plan among the powers that be in our culture to sexualize children. 0.89

00:10:27.980 There is no doubt about it. And this right here from Netflix. I mean, if this is not reason, if this

00:10:34.360 does not convince us all to cancel our Netflix subscriptions, if we still have them, then I don't

00:10:40.920 know what will. There have to be real penalties for something like this. We can't just complain about it

00:10:45.620 and say how horrible this is and then go about our merry way while still paying Netflix our

00:10:50.400 subscription fee. We cannot do that. If there was ever a reason for a boycott, this is it right here.

00:10:58.240 So let's all do that today. Let's cancel our Netflix subscriptions. That's the least we can do.

00:11:02.460 That's step one. Let's get to our five headlines.

00:11:04.960 You know, if we want to be responsible and smart, then we need to protect our online data. There's

00:11:15.940 just no reason to be going. We all spend so much time online, probably more time than we want to

00:11:20.140 admit. I know that's the case for me. But if you're not protecting yourself, then it just,

00:11:25.140 there's no excuse for that whatsoever. That's why you need ExpressVPN. Did you know that your

00:11:31.480 internet service provider like Comcast or Verizon knows every single website you visit? And what's

00:11:36.460 worse is they can sell this information to ad companies and tech giants who will use your data

00:11:40.360 to target you. And look, this is your data. There's no reason why you have to expose yourself

00:11:44.400 to that. ExpressVPN puts a stop to this. It creates a secure encrypted tunnel between your device and the

00:11:48.900 internet so that your online activity can't be seen by anyone. I use ExpressVPN on all my devices.

00:11:53.260 It works on everything, phones, laptops, routers. So everyone who shares your Wi-Fi can still be

00:11:58.080 protected even if they don't have ExpressVPN. The best part is using ExpressVPN is as easy as,

00:12:03.340 you know, closing the bathroom door to give yourself privacy. You just fire up the app,

00:12:07.340 click one button, and you're protected. It really is that simple. ExpressVPN is the world's

00:12:12.380 number one rated VPN by CNET, Wired, The Verge, countless others. They're all in,

00:12:19.500 there's a consensus that ExpressVPN is the way to go. So if you're like me and you believe your

00:12:23.160 online activity is your business, secure yourself by visiting expressvpn.com slash Walsh today.

00:12:29.080 Use my exclusive link. That's E-X-P-R-E-S-S-V-P-N.com slash Walsh, and you can get an extra

00:12:34.600 three months for free. That's expressvpn.com slash Walsh. Okay.

00:12:41.120 Let me pull up our news headlines if I can find them. Here they are. Okay. Of course,

00:12:48.720 you know, the big news I'm told supposedly is President Donald Trump telling Bob Woodward

00:12:52.500 in March that he wants to play down the coronavirus. This is all going to appear in Woodward's

00:12:58.920 forthcoming book, Rage, about the Trump administration. I wonder if it's going to

00:13:02.460 have a positive or negative spin. I don't know. It's hard to tell. You can never tell. Who knows?

00:13:05.560 It's impossible to predict. This conversation between Trump and Woodward is on tape. You've

00:13:10.800 probably heard the tape by now, but if not, here it is again. It goes through air, Bob. That's always

00:13:16.540 tougher than the touch. You know, the touch, you don't have to touch things, right? But the air,

00:13:20.720 you just breathe the air. That's how it's passed. And so that's a very tricky one. That's a very

00:13:26.700 delicate one. It's also more deadly than your, you know, even your strenuous flus. You know,

00:13:34.300 people don't realize we lose 25,000, 30,000 people a year here. Who would ever think that,

00:13:39.200 right? I know. I mean, it's pretty amazing. And then I say, well, is that the same thing?

00:13:45.380 This is more deadly. This is five per, you know, this is 5% versus 1% and less than 1%.

00:13:52.580 You know, so this is deadly stuff.

00:13:55.140 So give me a moment of talking to somebody, going through this with Fauci or somebody who

00:14:04.640 kind of, it caused a pivot in your mind, because it's clear just from what's on the public record

00:14:13.480 that you went through a pivot on this to, oh my God, the gravity is almost inexplicable and

00:14:23.560 unexplainable.

00:14:24.560 Well, I think, Bob, really, to be honest with you, I wanted to always play it down. I still like

00:14:33.260 playing it down because I don't want to create a panic.

00:14:36.580 Okay. There you go. And he also said, Trump said at other times early in February, that the virus

00:14:41.920 is deadly stuff and worse than the flu. And the claim from Trump's critics is that these private

00:14:46.620 statements contradict what he said publicly and show that he lied to the public. There's a lot more

00:14:52.300 in these interviews. He did 18 interviews with Woodward, 18. Many of them apparently recorded 18

00:14:59.020 interviews. Here's what I'll say about this. First of all, he did say in those comments,

00:15:04.460 just played that he was, he was, he was playing it down, quote unquote, in order to prevent the

00:15:09.160 public from panicking. Now, I don't think preventing a panic is a good reason for a public

00:15:13.900 official to lie. If you're going to accept that excuse from the government for lying, then you

00:15:19.600 can't ever criticize the government for lying because that's always the excuse for lying from

00:15:25.020 the government. But on the other hand, I don't think that Trump actually was lying necessarily.

00:15:28.840 I think that what you heard there was more a reflection of Trump's limited vocabulary than

00:15:34.760 anything else. He said, play it down. But in the context, it seemed like he really meant to say

00:15:39.280 something like allay fears or something like that. That probably would have caught his meaning a little

00:15:45.540 bit better, I think. And besides, his public comments were also all over the place. So if his

00:15:51.800 private comments were all over the place and his public comments were all over the place,

00:15:54.680 there are a lot of criticisms you can make towards him about that, but I don't think you can accuse

00:16:00.220 him of deception or conspiracy or a coverup or something like that. It sounds like the guy was

00:16:04.680 sort of flailing, which is certainly the impression he gave publicly as well as privately. So I think

00:16:11.020 all in all, this is not a huge, it's not the huge scandal the left wants it to be. It doesn't reflect

00:16:14.960 well on Trump either, but it's not a breathtaking scandal, which is of course what they, what they are

00:16:20.780 hoping for. Now that said, my real issue here is that Trump decided to do 18 recorded interviews

00:16:30.320 with a guy who was writing an expose about him, which would come out before the election. 1.00

00:16:37.240 That is inexcusably stupid. And it shows what I've always said, which is that Trump is not 0.99

00:16:43.480 media savvy at all. He gets credit for that. He's a master at media manipulation. No,

00:16:49.360 he just does and says stuff randomly. And the media is so incompetent that it often works out

00:16:56.080 in Trump's favor, but a media savvy president would not do recorded interviews 18 times with a guy who

00:17:04.120 is clearly against you and wants to write a hit piece on you. If Trump actually thought there was

00:17:09.140 any chance that Bob Woodward would write a positive book about him, then that's the dumbest thing of 0.99

00:17:15.180 all. Um, there is just no scenario where that works in your favor. The best you can hope for. 0.87

00:17:21.420 I know that the people defending Trump are saying, Oh, this isn't going to hurt him. Okay. Well,

00:17:25.480 that's the best you can hope for. You sit down for 18 recorded interviews with, with Bob Woodward.

00:17:30.880 Best possible outcome is that it's, it's neutral. It doesn't hurt you. In which case it was a waste of

00:17:37.000 time. Worst outcome is that it does hurt you. There is no universe at all in which it helps you,

00:17:43.900 in which prattling to Bob Woodward 18 times, uh, with recordings somehow works in your favor. It

00:17:51.720 just, it just, it's not going to. So there's no reason to do it. Uh, why did Trump do it then?

00:17:57.340 Well, because Trump is incapable of saying no to someone who wants to give him attention. Yeah. You

00:18:02.240 know, it's, it really is that simple and that's one of his great weaknesses. Uh, I think. Okay.

00:18:08.720 Number two from the daily wire. It says attorney general, William Barr announced Wednesday that

00:18:12.920 operation legend, a department of justice program designed to supplement major city to police

00:18:17.060 departments with federal agents and resources amid an unprecedented national crime wave has cut the

00:18:21.860 Chicago murder rate roughly in half since launch and has reversed a surge of violence that was leaving

00:18:27.920 dozens killed. Uh, it says looking for the actual numbers here about Chicago. Um, the results of those

00:18:35.060 actions speak for themselves over the past five weeks of operation legend in Chicago, murders dropped

00:18:39.000 by 50% over the previous five weeks, August ultimately saw a 45% decrease in murders compared

00:18:45.720 to July and a 35% decrease compared to June. Okay. So if I'm interpreting the data here correctly,

00:18:52.600 it would seem that the takeaway is that enforcing the law helps reduce crime. Yes. When,

00:19:00.480 when you allow criminals to commit crime without consequence, you get more crime. When you impose

00:19:07.340 a consequence, you get less crime. There would seem to be a cause and effect relationship here

00:19:12.580 possibly. And this is why I've been saying for a long time that, that, that all of this talk about

00:19:17.720 criminal justice reform is focused on reforming in exactly the wrong way. There is not a crisis in

00:19:25.440 our country of innocent people being sent to jail or criminals being given sentences that are too

00:19:31.240 harsh. That's not now that kind of thing does happen on occasion, but that's not the systemic

00:19:37.300 issue. The systemic issue is that violent, dangerous people are filtered quickly through the system and

00:19:43.660 then sent back out onto the streets. That's the systemic problem. The systemic issue is that many

00:19:48.220 people, um, many of the people out in the street committing crime are known to the system to be

00:19:56.320 criminals and to be dangerous. And yet they're allowed to remain free. Great example of this.

00:20:00.700 Okay. Just from this week as well in New York, a guy named Daniel Biggs, you can see the video here.

00:20:06.460 He rode his bike past a six year old woman, punched her in the head and knocked her to the ground and,

00:20:13.760 and just kept on riding. Now, fortunately, a bunch of firefighters saw this happen and were able to

00:20:18.540 chase him down and apprehend him, which is good. But Biggs is 53 years old, apparently has 18 prior

00:20:25.760 arrests for robbery, assault, and other crimes. Now he's out randomly assaulting women who were just

00:20:31.040 walking down the street. This is a man with nothing to offer a society, um, just violence and crime.

00:20:38.340 That's all he's got to offer. That's all he's got to give. Uh, the re there, there is just no reason 0.99

00:20:44.260 to have him out on the street. There's no reforming somebody like this. Someone who's been a scumbag

00:20:51.460 their entire life. And now at the age of 53 is still out randomly assaulting people just for fun. 1.00

00:20:59.020 Um, there's no reforming. There's no real hope that one day this will be a productive member of

00:21:05.260 society. This is someone who you throw into a cage and you keep them there forever. Okay. You say to

00:21:12.760 that person, you're done. You've had your chance. You've had many chances. You clearly don't want to

00:21:19.620 behave like a human being. You're not interested in that. So this is what you get. We're going to

00:21:24.320 throw you in a cage. Um, but what happened to Biggs though? Well, he was charged a few days later 0.81

00:21:30.140 and released on bail. They released him 18 arrests. He's doing that. They release him out on bail.

00:21:36.580 What do you think? Is Biggs going to show up diligently for his court appearance? Is he going

00:21:40.740 to wear a nice suit, come to the court on the day that's assigned and, you know, face his,

00:21:46.220 the consequences like a man? No, of course not. So this is the way it works. Guys like this filter

00:21:53.340 through the system and they end up back on the street, commit more crimes. The system is way,

00:21:58.140 way, way too lenient, not too harsh. And that's where the reform should be focused. So it's good

00:22:03.280 that, um, at least on the federal level, we're starting to see some of that. Okay. A man named

00:22:07.740 Safwan Chowdhury, uh, posted video yesterday that he says shows him and his family being kicked off a

00:22:12.720 WestJet flight. In fact, the whole flight was, was canceled as a matter of fact, because his 19 month

00:22:17.880 old child was not wearing a mask. You can't see or hear much in the video, but I'll play it for you

00:22:23.200 anyway. Here it is.

00:22:23.800 What is bullsh**t? Bullsh**t! Bullsh**t! Bullsh**t! We've all seen it! We have all seen it! 0.99

00:22:34.000 This isn't going to get finished. Dude, you suck to this chair. You can tell him, load up the plane. 1.00

00:22:39.340 You goofy f*****t! Beat it! Excuse me, what is your, what is your f*****t? 0.99

00:22:44.680 This is not my decision. Everyone has to hear it. No, no, your partner, everyone has to hear it. 0.97

00:22:52.400 We've got one mob, we've got one problem. There is a law. Where were you riding a bicycle at this f*****t time?

00:22:59.140 You don't be ignorant. You don't be ignorant. You don't be ignorant. 1.00

00:23:03.700 You told the last child when you were asked several times. How do you know that you are here? 0.99

00:23:10.720 I can't wait to see it. We all have seen it.

00:23:18.360 Now, WestJet, in defense of itself, says that, no, the problem was not the 19-month-old. It was the

00:23:25.420 three-year-old daughter was not wearing a mask. So they canceled the flight because of that. Chowdhury

00:23:30.000 disputes that claim, and so there's a he said, he said thing going on. Here's how it shakes out,

00:23:36.000 as far as I can tell. Number one, expecting a baby, a 19-month-old, to wear a mask is madness

00:23:44.040 and dangerous. Babies can suffocate very easily. You don't put any kind of fabric or anything around

00:23:52.800 the face of a baby, period. Any business that requires that should be sued. Any parent who

00:23:59.420 complies with that is stupid and gutless beyond words. Absolutely, you don't put a mask on a baby. 1.00

00:24:06.420 You lunatics. But what if it was just the three-year-old that was the issue? Well, guess 0.99

00:24:11.000 what? Still stupid. Just as stupid. Many three-year-olds aren't going to cooperate with having 1.00

00:24:17.480 a mask on and shouldn't be required to. And it doesn't seem very healthy to me to have a three-year-old

00:24:23.100 who's panicking because they don't understand why they have to have this thing on their face

00:24:26.840 restricting their breathing. And now they're trying to breathe hard. They're panicking. They're

00:24:30.740 screaming. They got the mask on. No. I have a three-year-old myself. He's not going to wear

00:24:36.200 a mask for any long period of time. He'll put one on for like 45 seconds, mainly just because

00:24:40.340 he sees everyone else doing it. But then it's going to come off and I'm not going to force

00:24:44.040 him to wear it. I've said many times that as far as I'm concerned, if a business wants

00:24:47.840 me to wear a mask, I will respect their property rights and comply with that, even though I don't

00:24:53.120 like it. But no, you're not going to force me to put a mask on my three-year-old. It's just

00:24:56.980 not going to happen. But here's the thing that really gets to me about this. Going back

00:25:02.020 to that video, okay, you heard the child crying, obviously scared, confused. So when you think

00:25:09.700 about that, requiring little kids to put masks on or, you know, the latest now they're going

00:25:14.660 to be canceling trick or treat in, I think Chicago said they're probably going to cancel

00:25:19.100 it. Even though you're outside, the kids are already wearing masks and costumes, so there's

00:25:24.880 no reason to do it, but they're going to do it anyway. Or any of the other millions of

00:25:28.420 examples of the ways that kids have been affected by this. What gets me is that none

00:25:34.280 of this is about protecting the kids themselves. Okay, this is not some sort of misguided but

00:25:41.120 well-meaning attempt to protect children. I personally have a lot of sympathy for misguided

00:25:47.000 but well-meaning attempts to protect children. I sympathize with that because I get it. You

00:25:51.960 know, I understand as a father, I understand how sometimes you could go a little overboard

00:25:56.660 in your zealousness to protect children. I can certainly be guilty of that sometimes.

00:26:01.560 I mean, you should see the way that I cut up food for my three-year-old as if he's an infant.

00:26:05.940 Cut it up into these little tiny, like microscopic bits because I'm terrified that it'll choke.

00:26:10.360 And it's way overboard. My wife makes fun of me, but I can't help it. It's my greatest fear

00:26:16.220 as a kid choking. So I go way overboard sometimes too to protect them in certain areas. But that's

00:26:23.580 not what this is about with the coronavirus. No, this is about selfish and scared adults trying to

00:26:29.120 protect themselves from the kids. Insisting that a baby wear a mask, and I'm counting a three-year-old

00:26:36.340 as a baby in this context. Insisting that a baby wear a mask, no matter how scared and confused and

00:26:42.500 terrified he is, or how unhealthy it is for him, in order so that you can be protected from him,

00:26:49.420 is the height of cowardice and selfishness. I mean, even leaving aside the fact that the kid's

00:26:56.140 not going to spread coronavirus to you. Kids, this has been established many times over. Kids are very

00:27:02.280 unlikely to contract it and spread it. But even aside from that, we're doing all of this to kids

00:27:08.800 to protect ourselves. Because we're afraid. These aren't things we're doing for them.

00:27:16.220 It's things we're forcing them to do for us. Which is exactly backwards.

00:27:22.900 Number four, I canceled gender reveal parties on the show earlier this week. You may remember the

00:27:26.880 Daily Show with Trevor Noah is behind the times. They came in and canceled them too. But frankly,

00:27:31.660 I thought my cancellation was, uh, way better than this. Watch. But guys, this has to stop.

00:27:38.020 Right? Or at least if you insist on a gender reveal, you should do something that helps the 0.99

00:27:42.400 situation. The water's pink! It's a girl! And aside from all the damage it can cause, 0.99

00:27:48.380 celebrating a baby's genitalia is starting to feel very outdated. Like, given everything we're

00:27:53.680 learning about gender, gender reveal parties should only happen when the child is old enough

00:27:58.720 to know their actual gender and to pitch in some cash for the fire damage. And honestly,

00:28:04.680 I don't even know why we need gender reveal parties. You know what we do need, though?

00:28:08.860 Race reveal parties.

00:28:10.100 Trevor Noah really has the charisma and comedic chops of, like, a pillowcase filled with wet sand.

00:28:18.700 Um, and I've never heard the guy tell a funny joke. Have you? I've never, I, if anyone is aware

00:28:26.360 of a funny Trevor Noah moment, um, from any point in his career, pre-Daily Show or, or during the Daily

00:28:33.320 Show, let me know because I've never, I, I, I've never seen it and I've looked. And the thing,

00:28:37.660 what, the thing is, there, there was a time long ago when the Daily Show might have done that exact

00:28:42.660 same segment with the same lines and everything. And it would have been funny because the bit at the

00:28:48.020 end about choosing gender would have been satirical. It would have been a joke. Ten years

00:28:51.560 ago, that bit would have been satire. And today it is something that is delivered in earnestness

00:28:57.160 and sincerity. Um, by the way, Trevor, you say, uh, everything we've learned about gender is,

00:29:05.360 what, what is that exact? What, what have we learned? What exactly have we learned scientifically

00:29:09.880 proving that gender can be chosen rather than, uh, rather than it being something you're born with?

00:29:15.220 I'd really like to know. You said we've learned. Okay. We've learned a lot. Everything we've learned.

00:29:20.040 Give me like one thing we've learned that justifies what you just said. Well, he can't,

00:29:25.780 he can't, they never can. All right, we're going to get to our daily cancellation in just a second.

00:29:29.640 Before we do, um, you know, how, how much do you think your personal information is worth to cyber

00:29:36.400 criminals? Research, uh, researchers are compiled an overview of the average price of stolen personal

00:29:40.700 data for sale on the dark web. While online banking logins costs an average of $35, the range of

00:29:46.580 documents and account details needed to commit identity theft costs a hundred, costs $1,285.

00:29:51.800 So the bulk of stolen information comes from large scale, uh, data breaches. And what that means is

00:29:58.560 that, you know, this is, you, you have to protect yourself when you're online and that's why you need

00:30:02.880 LifeLock like I have. LifeLock detects a wide range of identity threats like your social security

00:30:07.380 number being for sale on the dark web. And these are the kinds of things that you're, you know,

00:30:11.520 you probably aren't going to the dark web. However, you access that to find out if your

00:30:15.300 information is on sale, uh, you need LifeLock for that. You can do things like check your bank

00:30:21.020 account and check your credit card balance, and you should be doing that, but you need LifeLock for

00:30:24.680 everything else. If they detect your information has potentially been compromised, well, they're going

00:30:29.260 to send you an alert. And, uh, if, if you do have a problem, they also have identity theft

00:30:33.400 restoration specialists, but we're going to be there and they're going to be able to help you

00:30:36.740 as well. Nobody can prevent all identity theft or monitor all transactions at all businesses,

00:30:40.480 but you can find out if your information is on, is on sale on the dark web, get your free dark web

00:30:45.040 scan at LifeLock.com slash scan, pick the plan that's right for you and save up to 25% off your

00:30:51.240 first year with promo code Walsh. That's a free scan at LifeLock.com slash scan and 25% off. If you

00:30:57.740 use promo code Walsh, let's get to our daily cancellation today for our daily cancellation. I'm afraid

00:31:03.280 that I must cancel once again, my wife for the seventh time. I believe no husband wants to cancel

00:31:09.000 his wife seven times. This is not what I wanted for us, for our marriage, for our family, but I have 1.00

00:31:13.840 been left with no choice. Um, and I present you now all of the damning evidence that will be needed

00:31:18.260 to convict my wife in cancellation court. Here it is right there. This monstrosity, um, this psychotic

00:31:26.680 assortment of stains and splotches is allegedly a painting, a piece of artwork that my wife went out and

00:31:32.860 bought presumably either from a crack addicted hobo or a 10 month old child or some combination

00:31:38.320 of the two. Uh, she brought it home years ago. And for years I've tried to explain to her that this

00:31:44.020 looks like a Kmart brand Jackson Pollock and it brings shame to our family name, but she claims,

00:31:50.120 here's what she claims that no, this is not in fact a canvas filled with random dribblings,

00:31:55.020 but is actually a painting of a sailboat, two sailboats. She claims, I ask you, do you see the

00:32:01.680 sailboats? Where are the sailboats? Show me the sailboats in that picture. You can't.

00:32:07.000 And so we have waged a years long cold war over this thing. It has changed locations in the house

00:32:11.740 multiple times. Um, at first it was in our living room, uh, so that, you know, any guest who came in

00:32:19.260 could see it and we could announce to all of our guests that we are apparently schizophrenic serial 0.76

00:32:23.260 killers. And then she moved it to our room right above our bed. Every night I fell asleep with it,

00:32:28.340 watching me. It invaded my dreams, feasted on my soul as I slept. And more recently it changes rooms

00:32:33.900 randomly. I never know if it's going to be there when I come around the corner and she does this

00:32:38.060 to torment me. Now you might be saying to yourself, well, Matt, you're the man of the house. Uh, why

00:32:43.160 don't you take the thing down and just throw it away? Why don't you take it down, drive it out to 0.97

00:32:48.860 the sea and throw it in, let it drift away. Let some lonely deep sea fishermen out in the Atlantic,

00:32:54.240 find it there floating and assume that it's a bad omen, which would cause him to drown himself on

00:32:59.160 purpose to escape the coming wrath. Yes, I've thought about that. Believe me, I would, uh, I

00:33:04.240 would do that, but I haven't told you the most sinister part of my wife's scheme. She claims 0.98

00:33:09.280 that the painting reminds her of the eulogy the priest gave at her grandmother's funeral.

00:33:15.480 He spoke of the afterlife and made an analogy to ships sailing over the horizon, the beautiful

00:33:20.140 eulogy. And so she says this painting is meaningful to her. So she has emotionally blackmailed me,

00:33:25.300 but this is a one way street. I assure you, if I were to go out and buy like a plastic singing

00:33:31.560 trophy fish and hang it in the living room and then say that it reminds me of my deceased

00:33:35.820 grandmother who was an eccentric taxidermist, my wife would very sweetly say, okay, honey, well, 0.88

00:33:41.640 let me help you find something that we can put here to remember your grandmother by just not this

00:33:45.880 as she takes the fish down and escorts it respectfully to the garbage can. So the thing

00:33:52.340 is I like sailboats. Okay. Sailboats are fun. Yes. Let's have a painting of sailboats. You want a

00:33:58.200 painting of sailboats in the living room? Great. Let's get a painting of sailboats. Let's have a

00:34:02.000 painting of a sailboat in every room. Let's go live in a sailboat. I don't care. This is not an attack

00:34:08.100 on sailboats. My problem is precisely that those are not sailboats. This is a Rorschach test. And if you

00:34:14.720 say that it looks like a sailboat, what that tells us is that you don't have any idea what a sailboat

00:34:19.580 is. This is when it comes down to it really modern abstract art, isn't it? It is nonsense. In other

00:34:26.600 words, it is an assault on beauty and objective truth. It does violence to the very foundations

00:34:32.360 of human civilization. It erodes the societal fabric. I've tried to explain all of this. It contradicts

00:34:38.380 our deepest held principles as people. It, well, what it, what it really means is that my wife by

00:34:44.440 buying and defending this painting has revealed herself to be a total lib and libs are canceled

00:34:52.440 on this show in perpetuity. And so sadly today is my wife. Very difficult moment for all of us,

00:35:03.560 but a man reaches a point where he must cancel his wife on his podcast. I believe it was

00:35:11.680 Socrates who first said that. We're going to leave it there for today. Thanks for watching,

00:35:17.060 everybody. Thanks for listening. Have a great day. Godspeed.
