The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 624 - Sex Work Is Not Real Work

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, AOC and others on the left have been celebrating the glories of

00:00:04.620 sex work and defending sites like OnlyFans this week. They say it's a legitimate and noble way

00:00:10.240 to make a living. Why are leftists always encouraging people to do things that make

00:00:14.660 them miserable? We'll talk about that. Also, five headlines, including $600 stimulus checks as part

00:00:19.440 of the latest COVID relief bill. What good will $600 do? And today in our daily cancellation,

00:00:24.440 we'll cancel, or rather we will discuss and cancel lots of people associated with the

00:00:28.960 intense controversy over the singer Lizzo drinking a smoothie. Is she betraying the

00:00:34.420 fat community? We'll deal with that question and more today on the Matt Wall Show.

00:00:45.780 You know, something to think about as we head into the new year, maybe sort of a new year's

00:00:49.080 resolution is that we all should consider is supporting companies that support us in the

00:00:58.920 culture. Companies, because there are a lot of companies that we don't. We have a lot of money

00:01:02.800 to them, sort of inevitably. But when we find a company that supports our values, we should support

00:01:08.000 them. And that should begin with the pro-life phone company, Charity Mobile. Look, with Charity Mobile,

00:01:14.280 5% of your monthly plan price goes to the pro-life, pro-family charity of your choice.

00:01:18.760 And that's the charity part of it, and it's great. There's also a lot of great benefits. It's just a

00:01:23.160 great service in general. New activations and eligible accounts get a free cell phone with free

00:01:27.580 activation and free shipping. There's no contracts. There's no termination fees. There's

00:01:32.040 also no risk. So you can try them out. You get a 30-day guarantee. But you're going to love the

00:01:36.760 service. You're going to love also the fact that there's live customer service based in the USA

00:01:40.680 if you ever need help. And look, you can block the use of cellular data, picture messages, text

00:01:46.620 messages on any of the lines on your account. You get free usage alerts. You get a free app to

00:01:53.740 monitor your usage and pay your bill. It makes it very convenient. And while doing all that and

00:01:59.640 taking advantage of this service, you're also helping to build a culture of life in America

00:02:03.360 by supporting a pro-life phone company. So I would urge you to call 1-877-474-3662 or chat with them

00:02:11.920 online at charitymobile.com. This week, the New York Post has come in for intense criticism after

00:02:17.920 publishing an article about a paramedic in the city who was working a side job selling pornographic

00:02:22.260 images of herself on the website OnlyFans. The EMT worker, Lauren Quay, apparently didn't want to 0.99

00:02:28.640 be profiled by the paper, but they published a story anyway. Now, it's not true that the Post

00:02:32.620 doxed Quay, as they've been accused by other media publications. Doxing is the malicious 0.93

00:02:38.220 publication of private information. The story may have been malicious, but they were publishing what

00:02:43.020 the woman herself had already publicly revealed. You know, anything you put on the internet for public

00:02:48.060 consumption is no longer private by definition. The New York Post did not force Quay or any other

00:02:54.060 woman to make public what should be private. That was her decision. Now, with that said, the story was

00:02:59.700 inappropriate and rather baffling, as Quay is not a public figure and nothing about her life is

00:03:05.100 newsworthy. Lots of people put embarrassing material on the internet on purpose. A news organization should

00:03:10.600 have a clear and ethical reason for publishing that material. I can't imagine what that reason would be

00:03:15.920 in this case. But the national conversation has gone beyond merely criticizing, rightly, I think,

00:03:22.080 the Post for running a needless and oddly vindictive story about a random woman on OnlyFans. Quickly,

00:03:29.060 the controversy became an opportunity for prominent voices on the left to promote sex work itself as a

00:03:35.340 legitimate pursuit. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, along with the ACLU and others,

00:03:40.300 have declared this week that sex work is work. Lengthy think pieces have been written defending

00:03:46.660 cyber prostitution and old-fashioned prostitution, too, as noble professions. Now, while the wagons are

00:03:53.680 circled around OnlyFans, other publications like the Daily Beast have this week worried that the recent

00:04:00.360 criticism of Pornhub may be driven by anti-sex work bias, which is a very bad thing. It's long been a goal

00:04:08.380 of the left to normalize prostitution. Companies like Pornhub and especially OnlyFans, porn sites

00:04:14.480 that empower women by providing them a platform to sell their bodies, have essentially achieved that 1.00

00:04:20.440 long-sought goal of normalizing prostitution, even while prostitution remains technically illegal in

00:04:26.460 most states in the union. But is it true, though? Are women empowered through prostituting themselves 1.00

00:04:33.760 online or offline? Is sex work real work, as AOC contends? Now, as to the latter question, in a very

00:04:42.400 strict dictionary sense, the answer is yes. Work means, it's defined as, activity involving mental or

00:04:49.940 physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result. So I suppose there's a very minimal amount

00:04:56.340 of physical effort involved in posing nude for a webcam, and the intended result of helping men 0.89

00:05:01.080 masturbate in exchange for profit is no doubt accomplished. But if we take a more elevated

00:05:07.040 view of work, and we define it as the use of a certain skill in performing crucial services that

00:05:13.700 have tangible and lasting benefit to the consumer, it is not work at all. There is no skill involved in

00:05:20.160 taking off your clothes, and there's no lasting benefit to the other person involved in the transaction.

00:05:25.120 Now, perhaps you could say my definition of work is a bit ad hoc. You know, I came up with it in order

00:05:29.980 to disqualify a prostitution. Maybe so, but it points to the clear distinction that obviously exists

00:05:36.840 between a prostitute and, say, a car mechanic. Both are doing something with their bodies in exchange for 0.97

00:05:42.700 money. Fine. But only one involves a tangible and rare skill, and the results will benefit the consumer

00:05:50.320 in a substantial way and for longer than a few moments. If these are both work, or even real work,

00:05:58.100 they're still not the same kind of work. There's a reason one is respected and the other is not.

00:06:04.680 And it ought to stay that way. The other thing that separates the OnlyFans prostitutes from members 1.00

00:06:10.640 of more dignified professions is that the prostitute debases and dehumanizes herself. Her entire role is to 1.00

00:06:18.120 be debased and dehumanized. She is meant to be nothing but a masturbatory aide, an empty vessel, 1.00

00:06:24.580 faceless and nameless. Workers and other kinds of jobs may feel rather debased at times, and often 0.91

00:06:31.320 for good reason. But the prostitute offers up her debasement as the product. Her body, her privacy, 1.00

00:06:38.480 her sexuality, all that is most intimate and sacred is what she sells. It's a very different sort of

00:06:44.900 thing from the Walmart cashier who may experience her own sort of namelessness, but her dignity is not

00:06:51.460 the product that consumers have come to buy. There's a reason that drug abuse and suicide are

00:06:58.800 so common among porn stars and prostitutes. The media chalks it up to mental illness or social 0.75

00:07:05.720 ostracization, but one need not be sick or alienated to feel despair amid a life dedicated to one's own

00:07:13.320 degradation. Of course women are depressed when their, quote, work consists of presenting their bodies 1.00

00:07:19.640 to be ogled by creepy men on the internet. What else would they feel? Joy? Fulfillment?

00:07:28.280 You know, we're constantly being assured by miserable people that if we do what is meaningless

00:07:33.900 and empty, we're going to find happiness. As always, the lie reveals itself. Nobody actually is happy

00:07:41.620 doing these things that are supposed to make them happy. We find despair and self-destruction where the

00:07:46.740 happiness was supposed to be. That's how it always goes. But it was interesting to debate

00:07:52.460 this issue on Twitter this week and read the counter arguments, as I have been doing.

00:07:59.360 Two themes emerge, both seeming at first to contradict the other. You know, first I was told,

00:08:05.460 as we've discussed, that prostitution and porn are empowering and beautiful. But second, I've also been

00:08:11.360 told over and over again that all work is debasing and dehumanizing. Every worker is a prostitute in 0.99

00:08:20.420 effect because they're being exploited in exchange for money. Now, this is Marxism and it's wrong, 0.68

00:08:26.480 but it helps clarify what's really happening here. See, it turns out that the left is not actually

00:08:32.520 elevating prostitution by calling it real work. They are rather degrading real work.

00:08:38.760 They aren't trying to pull prostitution up to the level of work. What they're doing is pulling work 1.00

00:08:44.960 down to the level of prostitution. Yes, prostitution is dehumanizing and exploitative and ultimately 1.00

00:08:52.160 pointless, but so is everything else, they say. Their view of life, of everything, is so vulgar and 0.76

00:08:59.080 dreary that they cannot see the difference between somebody who uses skills and talents they've

00:09:04.020 cultivated in order to provide a good or service that has actual value and makes people's lives 0.79

00:09:08.520 better and someone taking off their clothes and showing their genitals to strangers on the 0.99

00:09:13.560 internet. See, it's not actually, it turns out, that they see the genital flasher as doing something 0.96

00:09:18.800 noble. It's that they can't understand why the person with the real job is doing something noble.

00:09:24.520 They don't know what noble is or what it means. They see the whole world in shades of gray and all

00:09:31.500 things to them are empty at their core. So why not prostitute yourself? Why not turn your body into 0.99

00:09:38.180 a commodity? Why not treat it like something no more valuable than a toaster oven you find in the

00:09:43.560 clearance section at Walmart? Nothing has value, nothing has meaning. That's their fundamental belief.

00:09:50.580 Happily, though, life is much more than they make it out to be. Your body is much more than a product

00:09:59.600 that can be put on a shelf. Your sexuality is much more than a service to be bought and sold.

00:10:06.180 And that is the actual truth, which is far more empowering, far more uplifting, far more liberating

00:10:13.500 than anything these people are telling us. Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:10:18.720 I think we can all agree that nobody wants acne, right? That's not anything. There might be a few

00:10:29.340 weirdos out there, but I think the vast majority of the human race don't want acne. And that's why,

00:10:34.740 but what people get, it's a very common condition. And that's why you need Proactive. Proactive

00:12:05.380 from CBS. It says lawmakers are running out of time to pass another coronavirus relief package

00:12:10.020 before Congress adjourns for the holidays. Uh, a major point of contention is whether any package

00:12:15.020 will include a second round of stimulus checks, the direct cash payments that help millions of

00:12:18.980 households, whether the economic crunch caused by the coronavirus pandemic, of course, to clarify,

00:12:24.140 this is not an economic crunch caused by the pandemic. It's an economic crunch caused by

00:12:28.800 the disastrous lockdowns where we're telling people they can't go to work. Um, a, uh, a $908

00:12:34.880 billion bipartisan proposal initially left out stimulus payments. Um, but a last minute addition

00:12:40.580 to the package could include another round of checks, most likely at the $600 per person level.

00:12:46.420 Um, and so that's, that's what we're looking at right now. It's not, it's not, it hasn't gone all

00:12:53.660 the way through yet, but we're looking at $600 a person and not for everybody. You know, lots of

00:12:59.780 people aren't going to get anything, but this to me is, is just perfect. This is, this is a perfect

00:13:07.600 encapsulation of, uh, of what we get from the government and from lawmakers in that it's the worst

00:13:15.720 of all worlds. It's pretty much the worst possible thing you could do to give everybody $600 or give

00:13:21.560 millions of people $600 because you're still spending all that money. Okay. We're still

00:13:27.440 spending billions and billions, almost a trillion dollars on top of the trillions we've already

00:13:31.720 spent. So we're still spending that. We got that part of it, but you're not giving nearly enough to

00:13:37.120 make any difference to anyone. You know, either someone's in a position where they're doing okay and

00:13:43.800 they, and you know, they might not be thriving, maybe they are thriving, but they're doing okay.

00:13:47.240 They're making it by. And for them, sure, $600 is nice, but they don't really need it because

00:13:54.240 they're already, they're, they're, they're not in the middle of an economic crisis. Um, or someone

00:13:59.740 is in a financial crisis and you know, isn't, isn't dire straits. And for them, $600 is going to do

00:14:06.280 almost nothing. It'll pay a couple of bills, but it's, that's it. I mean, is there anyone in America

00:14:14.180 who right now is in a situation where they're, they're in a crisis, but all they need is $600?

00:14:24.680 Maybe someone who, who, who borrowed some money from the mob or has gambling debts and need 600 bucks.

00:14:30.160 But I think the people who are in a crisis because of these lockdowns need a lot more than 600.

00:14:38.500 So you get people who don't need anything, who are given, we're going to be paying billions of

00:14:42.520 dollars to give money to, to, to a lot of people who don't need anything. And also billions to give,

00:14:47.700 uh, not enough money to people who need a lot more. So there's no point either give nothing to

00:14:55.360 anybody, or you need to give a lot more than this. Um, all right, let's go. Number two,

00:15:04.540 ABC news has this. We'll play the video for you. Uh, it says cheers erupted in the streets of Buenos

00:15:10.000 Aires, Argentina, after the country's lower house voted to pass a bill legalizing abortion,

00:15:15.760 uh, a measure that will next go through the Senate. So you can see here the, the crowds

00:15:21.100 celebrating, uh, celebrating, uh, celebrating the, the, the, the passage of this, this bill.

00:15:26.200 Oh, I just, you see that they're jumping, mostly women, younger women in the crowd.

00:15:37.240 They're jumping, they're hugging, they're waving flags. They're in tears. They're crying tears of joy.

00:15:44.520 And what are they now? You see something like this and you think if you had no context,

00:15:52.080 what would you think is going on here? Maybe, maybe there's, you know,

00:15:57.440 you can see this maybe if they're watching their team won the Superbowl,

00:16:02.860 something like that. But no, this is, this is, they're, they're excited. This is what they're

00:16:08.600 excited about. They're excited. They'll have the opportunity now to kill their babies. They're

00:16:11.380 in tears of joy because now if they need to, if they want to, they can kill their children. 1.00

00:16:17.620 That's what they're weeping tears of joy over. Not, you know, no great shock here. We know that 0.99

00:16:22.660 this is the case with the pro-abortion movement, except that what are we always told? We're always

00:16:26.700 told that the pro-abortion movement is not the pro-abortion movement. They're not, oh, nobody's,

00:16:31.380 nobody's pro-abortion. Nobody likes abortion. This is the line we get from pro-abortion people all the

00:16:39.020 time. No, no one likes abortion. No one, no one likes it. No one's, oh, we're pro-choice,

00:16:44.120 not pro-abortion. Really? That's what you just saw there. Those aren't people who, who like abortion.

00:16:50.940 They're in tears of joy, hugging in the street because they can now kill their children. They 0.96

00:16:55.800 obviously want to be able to do that. They are very pro that. Now the pro-abortion movement is,

00:17:03.580 is starting to move a little bit away from that line of saying, you still hear it a lot,

00:17:10.540 but they're starting, there's a movement now, uh, very clearly to move away from that and to stop

00:17:16.280 saying, oh, no one's pro-abortion. And instead to say, sure. But this is still among, mostly among

00:17:21.360 the radicals on the pro-abortion side who will come out and, you know, shout your abortion. They say,

00:17:25.020 yeah, you know, I like abortion. I'm in favor of abortion. It's not yet in the mainstream of the

00:17:30.780 pro-abortion movement, but I think it will go there. And really it's their only, it's, it's,

00:17:35.880 it's a, it's their only strategy because the problem all along, it's like when they used to

00:17:41.880 say, you never hear this anymore, but I can remember even growing up in the nineties. Um,

00:17:45.900 the big, the, the line, the, the slogan, the thing they put on the poster boards and the bumper

00:17:50.060 stickers was, um, safe, legal, and rare. And now they, yeah, they still want abortion to be legal,

00:17:56.580 of course. And they still talk about the mythical safe abortion, which of course no abortion can be

00:18:01.480 safe because there's always at least one person being killed in it. Um, and often more than one

00:18:06.440 person being, well, in fact, in every case, more than one person being harmed physically and

00:18:11.980 emotionally in every other sense. But, um, so, but they still, they still pretend. So they still say,

00:18:16.840 yeah, safe, legal. They don't talk about rare anymore. And the problem is when you say, oh,

00:18:22.140 we want abortion to be rare. Or when you say, oh, uh, nobody really likes abortion. The follow-up

00:18:27.940 question is why? Well, you say, nobody likes it. Why don't they like it? You say you want it to be

00:18:33.440 rare. Why do you want it to be rare? And the answer is because it's a, it's a, it's a horrifying,

00:18:40.200 horrible, abominable thing. But if you admit that about abortion, then the whole house of cards 0.77

00:18:46.620 comes tumbling down. And so their only choice is to, uh, is to pretend that it's, it's, uh,

00:18:52.380 that in fact, it's a positive, it's a, it's something to celebrate. All right. We played

00:18:56.320 for you yesterday, the clip of Tom Cruise berating the staff on the set of the new Mission Impossible

00:19:02.180 film. And now a number of celebrities have come out to defend Cruise, including George Clooney,

00:19:08.360 who says that he understands why Cruise did what he did. Um, the guy who played Olaf, what was his name?

00:19:14.820 He, he, he, uh, he defended him. Whoopi Goldberg, a bunch of celebrities have come out

00:19:19.560 and said that, you know, they've taken his side. This is weird for me because

00:19:23.240 I have no affinity for any of these people, Tom Cruise included.

00:19:28.240 And I disagree with why they're saying what they're saying. The people defend the celebrities

00:19:33.560 defending Tom Cruise. They're defending him on the basis that, you know, everybody should be wearing

00:19:38.720 masks. In fact, in fact, George Clooney said it in this answer. I think he was on with Howard Stern.

00:19:43.420 And he also said, oh, just wear the damn mask. You know, that's his point that, yeah, it's good. 1.00

00:19:48.880 It's good that Tom Cruise is, is, uh, is yelling at people for not wearing masks sort of in general.

00:19:54.360 I disagree with that, but I also have no problem. As I said yesterday, I have no problem with what

00:19:59.600 Tom Cruise did. And I read, you know, it says also that five staffers quit, have already quit

00:20:05.600 because of this rant from Cruise. And I'm more on Cruise's side than the staffers.

00:20:09.560 Only because if you, if you go back and you listen to what Tom Cruise was saying, he wasn't saying,

00:20:17.420 oh, put the mask on because you're going to kill me. If you don't, you know, you're, you're, you're,

00:20:22.980 you're endangering my safety. If you don't, if you don't wear the mask or if you don't follow the

00:20:26.360 protocols, that wasn't his point at all. His point was, this is what we have to do in order to keep

00:20:33.400 this industry running in order for people to have jobs. And you guys need to play this game

00:20:37.580 because this is, people depend on this and this, and they're going to lose their homes and they're

00:20:42.680 not gonna be able to feed their kids if this movie gets shut down because you guys can't follow the

00:20:46.680 protocols that we're all following. That I completely sympathize with, which is also why,

00:20:54.540 you know, I've the, the masking thing I hate, but I understand why businesses do it because they have

00:21:04.780 to do it in order to open, in order to stay open. At least many of them, it kind of depends on where

00:21:09.560 they are, what state they're in, what the local ordinances are, how strict it is. But, um, yeah,

00:21:14.380 I have a lot of respect for the businesses that have taken a stand and said, no, we're not going to

00:21:17.560 go along with it. But I also understand if you're a business owner and you say, look, you know,

00:21:23.560 I got to stay open. I've got employees I got to take care of. I can't afford to get a $5,000 fine

00:21:28.980 every day. That's going to shut us down and we're all going to be homeless. And I got a responsibility

00:21:33.460 to my employees. So I got to do this. I don't want to, but I have to. I understand that too.

00:21:39.180 I'm sympathetic with that. And that's why I say all of our anger should be directed at, at the

00:21:45.220 government, at the tyrants who are imposing this stuff, not really at the business owners who are just

00:21:52.160 doing what they have to do to navigate this and survive. Um, all right. And an ESPN commentator

00:21:59.700 and former NFL player has made an admission that he probably should have kept to himself,

00:22:05.780 uh, about why he doesn't like the Buffalo bills. Now, plenty of good reasons not to like the Buffalo

00:22:11.560 bills, but, um, here's the reason that he came up with an interview on a, on a podcast. This is,

00:22:15.700 um, this is, I believe Dominique Foxworth and here's what he said. I will be 100% lying. If I said

00:22:23.740 that when Josh does something dumb, a little part of me doesn't get happy. And it's not because I want

00:22:28.440 Josh to succeed. It's because the people who are telling me that Josh is the second coming and Josh

00:22:35.040 is better than everybody are people with American flags and dogs and skull and crossbones and the 0.98

00:22:41.240 and then if you go just take a dip into their tweet history, it's some really concerning retweets and

00:22:49.500 likes. Yeah. Um, so that's Josh Allen, the quarterback of the Buffalo bills is referring to

00:22:54.660 there. Now, just to be clear about what he, what he's actually saying here. Uh, and it's, it's not,

00:22:59.740 it's not very subtle. What he's basically saying is a lot of white people like the buff, 0.91

00:23:05.280 the Buffalo bills. And that's why I root against them. That's what he's referring to. And well,

00:23:10.240 more specifically white, like conservative people, people, people with American flags,

00:23:15.880 um, in for their profile pictures, uh, like the Buffalo bills. So that's why I root against them.

00:23:23.800 It's just, just some more, more open bigotry just put out there. No problem. He's gotten a little

00:23:31.960 bit of pushback about this, but, but not much. Um, and he's, he's fine. He'll keep his job on ESPN.

00:23:37.880 And because this is the way it goes, this is a totally acceptable bigotry in the United States

00:23:42.460 today. Uh, okay. Number five, this is from NPR. This is, this is the, the, the, the headline from

00:23:48.220 NPR. They said, Pete Buttigieg, president-elect Biden's pick for transportation secretary said that

00:23:53.260 he has a personal love of transportation, recounting train trips on Amtrak while in college

00:23:58.520 and said he proposed to his now husband, uh, Chasen in an airport terminal. So this is explaining

00:24:06.580 because remember Pete Buttigieg was appointed the secretary of transportation. He is, uh, as we

00:24:10.820 talked about yesterday, big news here, big deal. He is the, um, second gay cabinet official 0.81

00:24:18.340 in history. He's the second huge, huge stuff. And probably the first one in the transportation 0.97

00:24:25.280 department, but now they're explaining, you know, why he deserves to be the head of the

00:24:30.540 transportation department. And the reasons he deserved it is because he loves transportation.

00:24:35.100 He, he rode on the Amtrak as a kid and he proposed to his husband in an airport terminal.

00:24:41.400 Now the Washington post has come out in defense, Washington post democracy dies in darkness

00:24:47.320 and they're holding, you know, we can, we can rely on them to hold the powers that be accountable.

00:24:55.480 And so their headline today was Pete Buttigieg is right. Airports are romantic.

00:25:03.320 This by the way, not an op-ed. This is not in their opinion section. I think this was like in

00:25:08.480 their lifestyle section. Airports are romantic. Uh, now many people are focusing on, on this

00:25:17.300 idea that, um, he's qualified to be the secretary of transportation because he proposed in an

00:25:24.380 airport terminal and, and, uh, and, you know, he wrote a train in college. People are focusing on

00:25:29.780 that as the dumbest thing. And that is very dumb. You know, that is like me going to, uh, apply to 1.00

00:25:38.580 become the head chef at a four-star restaurant. And, you know, I hand in my resume and I've got

00:25:43.340 listed qualification. Um, I enjoy eating. I had a birthday party at the macaroni grill when I was

00:25:52.140 in fifth grade. You know, it's like that. Um, and that is very dumb. And I think that that deserves

00:25:59.140 quite a bit of mockery, but let's not, let's, let's please not just skip over personal love

00:26:06.460 of transportation. What does that mean? You love transportation? Oh, you know, I love

00:26:13.400 transportation. Oh, what do you mean? Like you like to travel? No, just transportation in general.

00:26:18.260 I love it all. Look, cars, bus, scooter, rollerblades. I'm just a big fan, big fan. I'm a big fan of

00:26:26.940 transporting, uh, through really any means. This is good. I mean, it is good though. I think in fairness,

00:26:33.980 it's good to have someone who is pro-transportation heading the transportation department. There are a

00:26:40.040 lot of anti-transportation people out there. That's a big thing. You talk to people all the

00:26:43.940 time and they say, no, I'm really, I'm against, and I, you know, personally, I'm against transportation.

00:26:48.080 I don't think anyone should go anywhere ever. So, um, so maybe that's good. Maybe that's all for the

00:26:53.700 best. All right. We're going to get to our daily cancellation in just a second. I did want to

00:26:58.580 address something real quick. Um, this is, this is, this is, uh, if you follow me on Twitter,

00:27:04.020 maybe you've, you've followed this controversy a little bit, but before we move on to the next

00:27:07.820 segment, I did want to address this because there are many people, speaking of cancellations,

00:27:11.900 there are many people attempting to cancel me this week for a tweet that I, that I sent out,

00:27:16.700 um, which I posted a couple of days ago and has provoked a very strong reaction that is still not,

00:27:22.160 still not gone away. Um, I'm being called a sexist and a misogynist and a bad husband and a bad father

00:27:29.480 for this. Here's what I said. I said, as a father of four kids, I can say one thing that never gets

00:27:34.860 easier is changing dirty diapers. Very disgusting. I mean, I've never done it, but it seems like it 0.96

00:27:40.120 probably sucks. And this has caused many people, many, you should see the emails I've gotten to

00:27:48.420 experience real anger and hurt. Um, because they say that this is, you know, it's misogynistic.

00:27:54.200 It perpetuates a stereotype. And I, so what I wanted to do, I don't, I don't often do this,

00:27:59.540 but I wanted to apologize, um, for this. I do deserve to be canceled. And I just want to clarify

00:28:06.620 that I didn't mean anything offensive by it. All I meant, all I meant is that changing diapers

00:28:14.780 is women's work. That's all I was saying. Um, I didn't mean if I'm sorry, if I was misinterpreted,

00:28:20.160 I didn't mean anything besides that. That's all I was trying to say. And I do admit that I have

00:28:27.260 avoided at all costs, the diaper changing task. I have devised many clever schemes in order to

00:28:33.020 accomplish this. And the first one, which is really quite brilliant is, uh, whenever I smell a, a diaper,

00:28:39.880 whenever I smell a full diaper, I will say to the child, Hey, you need a new diaper? Go find mommy. 0.73

00:28:46.980 Go find mommy. Go find her. Go find mommy. I bet she has candy for you. Go find her.

00:28:51.980 And then they'll run off and they'll find mommy. And, and then the next part of the strategy is to

00:28:56.000 go hide. So, you know, hide, lock yourself in a bathroom, hide in the garage, go run an errand.

00:29:01.920 Don't come back to the coast is clear. You know, we develop, these are survival strategies we develop

00:29:06.860 as parents, but, um, that's it. I just wanted to clarify that. And I, I'm, I'm sure that now I

00:29:12.920 have, um, people will, will feel better about it. And it's good that I was able to get that off my

00:29:17.260 chest. It's been a tumultuous year, a lot of uncertainty. And we know that's the, you deal

00:29:23.280 with that every year, especially this year. And one thing about, about, about tumult and, and,

00:29:28.900 and, uh, uncertainty is that you want to start thinking about your investments and hedging

00:29:33.120 your investments with something, something stable, something like gold. Uh, and you hear a lot about

00:29:37.580 gold and how the price of gold is skyrocketing. And that sounds great, but the problem is it's

00:29:40.820 sort of a barrier to entry where you feel like, well, I can't go out and just buy gold. I don't

00:29:43.940 have the money for that. That's why acre is such a great company. Acre lets you subscribe to gold

00:29:48.740 bars for as little as 30 bucks a month. You pay each month. And once your gold stash reaches the

00:29:53.220 price of their gold bars, they discreetly ship acre gold to your house. Um, so what this means is

00:29:58.220 you can invest in physical gold without having the money to, you know, come out of pocket

00:30:02.500 all at once. You can build up to it with acre taking physical delivery of your gold means

00:30:06.420 it's safe and sound and in your hands. Acre designs their gold in California. So sources

00:30:10.880 their gold from one of the largest mints in Switzerland. Um, and on top of that, they've

00:30:15.260 also got, if you feel like you want to be a little bit more aggressive, they've got the

00:30:18.640 recently introduced $100 per month subscription for their five gram gold bar, whatever you want

00:30:24.100 to do, you know, however you want to approach this. The fact is to get, to start investing

00:30:27.540 in gold, and maybe that's a, uh, a new year's resolution. I'm going to start investing

00:30:31.820 and you can start investing with acre. Visit getacregold.com slash Walsh and start investing

00:30:36.400 in physical gold today. Make sure you go to this URL because Acre is giving away a gold

00:30:41.080 bar. If you want to qualify for the giveaway, tweet or post why you should be the recipient

00:30:45.500 and mention at get underscore acre. Again, that's getacregold.com slash Walsh. And we want

00:30:50.720 to thank Acre Gold for supporting the show. And, um, this is coming up in just a few days,

00:30:55.100 Monday, December 21st, the historical docu-series Apollo 11. What we saw will be available

00:30:59.660 exclusively at the Daily Wire website, dailywire.com. Originally released as an audio podcast,

00:31:05.100 and it was, it was very successful in audio form. If you'll, even if you, if you saw it

00:31:09.680 in audio, if you listen in audio form, I would recommend watching it. It's even better watching

00:31:14.140 it. If you never heard it at all, then you're really in for a treat. You can watch as well

00:31:17.960 as listen on the Daily Wire Apple TV or Roku app or at dailywire.com. Yes, of course,

00:31:23.020 it's a dramatically inspiring story. Apollo 11, what we saw, fantastic series to watch with

00:31:28.300 your loved ones over the holiday break. And right now you can get it for 20% off with code watch

00:31:32.700 when you go to, um, dailywire.com slash subscribe and become an insider or above member. And finally,

00:31:39.440 one other thing on, uh, Monday, November, on Monday, December 21st, be sure to watch backstage

00:31:44.720 at 7 PM central time to see all the Daily Wire hosts wrapping up the year. And, uh, I will actually

00:31:49.960 be there because I have emerged from my cave and I am the mid society again, which means I will,

00:31:58.440 I will be there for the backstage and, uh, it'll be good wrapping up what we may call a very unique

00:32:03.640 year. So make sure you tune in on Monday for that. All right, we're going to move on now to our

00:32:07.360 daily cancellation. Today, we're going to cancel everyone involved in this story. The singer Lizzo

00:32:16.420 has been in the midst of a PR crisis and public backlash because she drank a smoothie. Lizzo

00:32:23.560 announced on Instagram that she had decided to go on a juice cleanse. And this news provoked horror

00:32:28.360 and outrage among many people in the quote, fat community who felt that she had betrayed them. 0.99

00:32:33.280 Uh, Lizzo is a smoothie drinking Judas selling out her fellow fat people, stabbing them in the back. 0.98

00:32:40.600 Let's read some of the reaction from people who are extremely mentally stable. I'm sure this is one 0.99

00:32:45.680 person blue check Mark on Twitter says Lizzo girl. Why? It was inevitable. The industry is so violent

00:32:52.860 towards fat women. Of course she was going to submit to toxic diet culture. It was only a matter 1.00

00:32:57.500 of time. I think the disappointment lies in a lot of us, especially fat black women, seeing ourselves 0.98

00:33:02.440 in a woman who was so proud and confident in her body. It made us want to do it, want to do the same 0.64

00:33:07.380 to ours. I have empathy for those who succumb to the pressures of fat phobia, especially when you're in

00:33:12.820 the public eye, especially when you exist within several intersections that carry little privilege.

00:33:18.240 Other reactions. Someone says fat phobia intersects with other oppressions. If you're a feminist or an 1.00

00:33:23.800 LGBTQ plus ally or stand with BLM, et cetera, you have to stand with fat folk too. Someone else said to see

00:33:30.680 Lizzo finally fall into the trap of detox scams is so disheartening. She was the beacon for fat girls 1.00

00:33:36.600 like me. A goal. Sorry. I almost read that as bacon. Um, I did almost read it, but I didn't read

00:33:43.840 it that way. Uh, a goal that showed a goal that showed we could learn to love ourselves and damn 0.99

00:33:49.840 everyone else. And now she's not, I feel so hurt. And then there was this, yes, I'm angry. Yes. I'm 0.55

00:33:57.200 triggered. Yes. I am mourning a big B word, uh, that she might want to get skinny because that's one 1.00

00:34:03.200 more battle. Fat phobia has won another loss to a system that wants me dead. And then someone else

00:34:09.040 accused Lizzo of promoting stuff that directly damages our community. That being the fat community. 0.95

00:34:14.220 Now this all led to Lizzo releasing a statement on Tik TOK explaining why she went on a diet. She 0.94

00:34:20.220 wants to be very clear that she in no way was trying to lose weight. God forbid she would never try to

00:34:25.260 avoid heart disease and extend her life and enjoy greater health and fitness by losing weight. Never.

00:34:29.280 That would be terrible. So here's how, here's how she explained her suspicious smoothie consumption.

00:34:36.120 Listen, I did the 10 day smoothie detox. And as you know, I would normally be so afraid and ashamed

00:34:43.960 to post things like this online, because I feel like as a big girl, people just expect if you are

00:34:50.700 doing something for health, you're doing it for like a dramatic weight loss. And that is not the case.

00:34:55.980 Um, in reality, November stressed me the f**k out. I drank a lot. I ate a lot of spicy things and

00:35:01.980 things that f**k my stomach up. And I wanted to reverse it and get back to where I was. I'm so proud

00:35:08.900 of myself. I'm proud of my results. Um, my sleep has improved my hydration, my inner peace, my mental

00:35:16.100 stability, my f**king body, my f**king skin, the whites of my eyes. Like I feel and look like a bad 0.91

00:35:21.620 b**ch. And I think like, that's it. I'm a big girl who did a smoothie detox. And I wanted to share 0.99

00:35:29.540 that with you guys. I got exactly what I wanted out of it. And every big girl should do whatever 1.00

00:35:34.520 the f**k they want with their bodies. Sorry, I'm not buying it, Lizzo. I'm not. I think you drank a 0.99

00:35:40.480 smoothie because you hate fat people. I know that's what, that's what's in my mind. Every time I go to 0.97

00:35:45.620 Smoothie King. In fact, my favorite smoothie is called the fat phobia. It comes with bananas,

00:35:51.200 strawberries, yogurt, whey protein, and a little dash of body shaming. Just a dash. I don't want to

00:35:55.780 overdo it. So there are a number of very dumb things bubbling to the surface amid this controversy. 0.98

00:36:00.660 The first and most obvious, of course, is the idea that fat is an identity that one should proudly 0.97

00:36:04.740 embrace. Let's be clear about this. Obesity is a condition, not an identity. It is a self-imposed

00:36:11.880 condition in most cases. Being proud of obesity is really no different from being proud of having

00:36:17.080 liver cirrhosis, from drinking too much alcohol. These are lethal conditions brought upon by

00:36:21.840 overconsumption. Some people may be more susceptible to liver diseases, and so their alcoholism causes

00:36:27.920 major problems, whereas somebody else can drink just as much and have no problem. That's unfortunate

00:36:32.920 if you're the person more susceptible, but it doesn't change the fact that it was avoidable. It was

00:36:38.500 brought on by your own choices, and it's bad. It's unhealthy. It's deadly. It's not good.

00:36:43.120 The same goes for morbid obesity. Yes, there are different body types. Yes, some people are heavier

00:36:47.840 than others, but morbid obesity is not one neutral body type among others. It is something that happens

00:36:53.540 from massive overeating, a catastrophic lack of physical exercise, and again, it will kill you

00:36:59.900 eventually. So that's one dumb thing. Here's another. The fat community. This is one of the hallmarks 0.99

00:37:08.480 of our modern age, the cheapening of the concept of community. Everything's a community now. Your

00:37:13.940 physical characteristics put you in a community. Your sexual proclivities, vices, hobbies, everything.

00:37:19.420 You know, we would say now that a fat man who enjoys Star Wars and video games, and let's say 0.99

00:37:25.160 foot fetishism, is in the fat community, the Star Wars community, the gamer community, and the foot

00:37:30.280 fetish community. But in what sense are any of these actual communities? The only thing you have in

00:37:37.620 common is this one aspect of yourself, an aspect that is either unimportant in the grand scheme or

00:37:42.300 unhealthy or just kind of weird. And yet this becomes a community. See, I know what's meant

00:37:47.940 when I talk about the church community. If you have a church community, these are people who live

00:37:52.680 near you, worship with you. They have in common with you the same values and priorities at the deepest

00:38:01.180 level. And you rely on each other for help, friendship, comfort, and support. It's a

00:38:05.820 community. But what does it mean for a fat person to have a community with other fat people? 0.92

00:38:11.880 The only thing they have in common is that they don't burn enough calories relative to what they

00:38:16.020 consume. How is this the foundation for any sort of meaningful communal relationship?

00:38:21.560 And the other problem with this communitization of everything, and yes, communitization is a word,

00:38:27.140 according to me, and other members of the Making Up Words community. The other problem with it is

00:38:31.400 that it has the effect of making people comfortable with aspects of themselves that they should not be

00:38:36.940 comfortable with. A person who struggles with a certain vice, say, overeating, can go online,

00:38:42.800 search Google, and find whole communities of people who are the same way and who aren't trying

00:38:47.620 to get over it or overcome it, but are just living in it proudly. And then that person could say,

00:38:52.300 oh, well, a lot of other people have this problem too. It must not be a problem then.

00:38:57.800 Finally, we have to focus on Lizzo herself for a moment. The fact is,

00:39:01.240 you know, she did go on a juice cleanse, and that is something you do if you want to lose weight. 1.00

00:39:04.880 Now she's backtracking in what might be the weirdest backtrack in the history of backtracking.

00:39:09.840 But it's clear that she was trying to get a hold of her weight a little bit, which is good.

00:39:15.660 But you find this with a lot of celebrities, and some of those people complaining on Twitter

00:39:20.520 were right about just this one part of it.

00:39:23.780 Where so often there are fat celebrities who go on about embracing your body just as it is,

00:39:28.940 even if you're fat, and then they go and slim down and lose the weight. 0.87

00:39:33.440 This isn't a betrayal, obviously, but it is a weird sort of hypocrisy. 0.76

00:39:37.780 Hypocrisy in that it reveals that they didn't really mean everything they said about embracing

00:39:42.080 your body no matter its size and staying positive about it, even if you're morbidly obese. 0.91

00:39:46.300 They didn't believe it, and shouldn't have believed it, because it's crazy.

00:39:50.700 Except that now, rather than say to their audience,

00:39:53.240 hey, listen, actually being extremely overweight isn't good, it's not healthy.

00:39:56.700 You know, I was able to get in a healthier shape, and let me help you do the same.

00:40:00.080 Instead of that, they say, oh, no, being extremely obese is still super great.

00:40:04.580 I'm not fat anymore, but you should totally stay fat yourself.

00:40:07.280 They encourage people to be unhealthy, even though they clearly know better.

00:40:13.180 So the whole thing is crazy, irrational, and highly cancelable.

00:40:16.960 And that's why everybody involved here is canceled.

00:40:20.360 Lizzo, the fat community, all canceled.

00:40:24.060 And that'll do it for us today.

00:40:25.940 Thanks for watching, everybody.
