00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, the right celebrates a new poll showing a majority approval for laws
00:00:04.840 banning men from women's sports, but I think the truth is not quite as rosy as it's being
00:00:09.360 made out to be. The left is playing the long game, and they're winning, as always. Also,
00:00:13.020 five headlines including an abortion ban in Alabama, a new left-wing autonomous zone,
00:00:17.600 quote-unquote, in Minneapolis, and the soap company Dove has decided to stop using the
00:00:22.100 word normal in its advertising because it might be offensive, apparently. And our daily cancellation
00:00:26.100 will deal with a feminist writer who's worried that stay-at-home moms might be setting a bad
00:00:31.120 example for their children. All of that and more today on the Matt Wall Show.

00:01:53.840 As you know, I tend to focus more on the dark cloud within the silver lining. That's sort of
00:01:58.960 my thing. And that's why I can't join in some of the right-wing chest thumping and celebration I've
00:02:04.040 noticed over a new poll in Politico, which finds, dear conservatives tell it, wide approval for banning
00:02:10.600 males from female sports. Majority of Americans, in fact, do not believe that men who identify as
00:02:16.940 women should be allowed in women's sports. A majority. What a victory. Clearly, our arguments
00:02:22.220 are winning the day. At least that's how it's being presented by some on the right, ever willing
00:02:27.580 and eager to delude themselves. Let's look at the actual numbers. This is from a Politico poll.
00:02:33.220 Of course, take all of the necessary spoonfuls of salt to go along with these poll results because
00:02:38.260 it is Politico. But to the extent that we can actually trust the results, here's what it says.
00:02:43.540 Reading now from Politico, it says, former President Donald Trump railed against transgender
00:02:47.040 athletes in female sports in his CPAC speech a few weeks ago. Other prominent voices on the right
00:02:51.740 have joined in, calling it an example of political correctness having a real-world impact.
00:02:56.080 Our latest Politico slash morning consult poll shows broad support for the GOP position,
00:03:01.400 extending across gender, age, and to a lesser degree, party. Overall, 53% of registered voters
00:03:06.620 support banning transgender athletes from competing in women's sports versus a third who oppose such a ban.
00:03:11.480 Now, broken down into categories, here's what it looks like. Men, 59% support a ban, 29% oppose.
00:03:22.240 For women, 46% support a ban, 34% oppose. Then you go to Republicans. Republicans, it's 74% support,
00:03:31.540 15% oppose. For Democrats, 40% support a ban, supposedly. 42% oppose. Independents, 49% support a ban,
00:03:40.220 33% oppose. Generation Z, 43% support a ban, 44% oppose. Millennials, 56% support a ban,
00:03:48.180 28% oppose. Then baby boomers, 50% support a ban, 32% oppose. Now, the one thing that I like about
00:03:56.720 this poll is that it further proves that millennial wokeness didn't happen out of nowhere. You know,
00:04:02.240 as critical as I've been of my own generation, and for good reason, it's not like we went insane on
00:04:06.560 our own. The insane millennial generation was raised by the insane boomer generation. That's
00:04:11.700 the way these things go. Apples falling not far from the tree, as we know the saying goes. In fact,
00:04:17.580 according to this, the boomers are even more on board with left-wing gender theory than millennials
00:04:21.700 are. That also is no surprise, as gender theory was not invented in 2013 or whenever people think,
00:04:28.520 but 40 or 50 years before that. But the main point here is that, yes, a majority hold the only sane
00:04:35.900 and reasonable position a person can hold on this topic, that a male is still a male, even if he
00:04:41.620 identifies otherwise, and therefore does not belong in female sports. Yeah, this is a position held by
00:04:47.760 53% of the country. That percentage should be 99%. And if this question had been asked 20 years ago,
00:04:56.580 it would have been 99%. Now, I can't prove that because nobody was asking it 20 years ago because
00:05:03.940 it was an idea so off the wall and crazy back then that nobody bothered to ask it. What this means is
00:05:11.480 that the left has taken this idea from one that was so crazy that nobody even mentioned it to one
00:05:18.440 that nearly half of the country believes and accepts, and they've done it in less than two
00:05:22.760 decades. See, that's not a win for the right. That's not really encouraging. The long-term trends are
00:05:28.780 thoroughly in the favor of the left. So the right looks at this kind of poll and says, phew, looks like
00:05:35.220 we win. The left looks and says, we will win. We are winning. The right takes solace in the right now
00:05:45.400 at the very moment, you know, that they've got a slim majority on their side. The left is playing the
00:05:50.560 long game. The left is thinking about the future. They know that five years from now, those numbers
00:05:56.160 in that poll are going to be reversed. 15 years from now, the majority position today will be seen as
00:06:03.400 a fringe and radical, crazy minority viewpoint 15 years from now. They can have this assurance not
00:06:10.140 based on any one poll because again, take it with a grain of salt. Also, you have to consider with a
00:06:13.980 poll like that, how was it phrased? If the question was phrased like, should we ban transgender athletes
00:06:22.440 from women's sports? Well, I mean, you could argue that, well, no, we shouldn't because if it's an actual
00:06:28.620 female who identifies as transgender, they shouldn't be banned from women's sports. So it could have been
00:06:33.380 phrase in a way that's confusing, but I think most people understand what the question means.
00:06:39.040 But it's not just this one poll. We talked last week about the Gallup survey showing that trans
00:06:42.680 identification among Gen Z is 10 times higher than older generations, 10 times. This poll showing a
00:06:49.160 majority of Gen Z opposing a ban goes along with that. So the left knows that it has the future
00:06:53.280 because it has your children. It's fighting this fight generationally. And it's been fighting that way
00:06:58.820 four generations. What this means is that conservatives, sure, should advocate laws and
00:07:04.100 policies like these bans. I've been saying that for years. It's a winning fight for conservatives
00:07:08.180 right now. And so we should take advantage of that and act on that right now. But that can't be the be
00:07:14.420 all and end all. We have to start thinking long term. We have to start taking radical steps to change
00:07:20.640 what now seems to be inevitable in the future. Now, I've talked many times about what some of those
00:07:25.760 steps should be. Part of the plan, as you always hear me say, is to raise and educate your children
00:07:30.460 in an environment free from left-wing indoctrination. That means no public school system.
00:07:35.940 It also means dialing way back on their exposure to pop culture and the internet. None of that is easy
00:07:41.640 to do. We are talking about radical lifestyle changes. But if we aren't willing to make radical
00:07:48.180 lifestyle changes, then there's no hope. The complacency and self-delusion on the right can't
00:07:54.160 continue. This unfounded faith that things will simply work out. That the world can't get any
00:07:58.840 crazier. That the left has finally crossed the line this time and people are going to wake up.
00:08:03.720 This is too far. All that needs to end. The collapse of our civilization has been a highly deliberate act.
00:08:10.980 A result. Part of a long-term plan set in motion by people who say what else you want about them
00:08:17.860 certainly know how to play for keeps and win. None of this means that we're doomed or we should give up
00:08:23.940 quite the opposite. I'm saying the opposite of that. It simply means that we need to face reality.
00:08:29.580 Understand how we got here. Where we're going next. And start fighting for victories that will last
00:08:36.020 longer than this present moment. Now let's get to our five headlines.
00:08:41.240 Here's a controversial statement. It kind of sucks to have acne. I think we could all, maybe that's,
00:08:52.700 maybe it's not controversial. Maybe that's one thing. Wide agreement. The polls will show 99%
00:08:57.360 approval on that statement. Nobody wants acne. And the great thing is if you have acne, you don't have
00:09:02.200 to, you don't have to suffer through it. There is something you can do about it. You can be proactive

00:09:21.440 strength for stubborn breakouts. They've got proactive plus gentle for more gentle skin types.

00:10:09.400 YouTube page right now, uh, as we get geared up for the debut of, uh, Candace Owens, new show, which
00:10:14.320 we're all really excited about, I did interview her. Uh, you can go to my, my YouTube page and check out
00:10:19.240 that we've got, we pulled out a few interesting clips from there, but then also we've got the full
00:10:22.400 interview posted with Candace. Um, and I, I did want to speak to one thing there, because there's,
00:10:27.940 there's been controversy that's come out of that interview already. Um, and frankly, lies have
00:10:34.820 come out of that defamation towards me because many of the people who watch the interview have accused
00:10:42.340 me of wearing skinny jeans in the interview. And I want to tell you right now that I do not
00:10:52.200 have not ever at any point in my life worn skinny jeans. Any claim to the con to the contrary is
00:11:00.140 spurious and defamatory. So if the jeans appear to be skinny, it was, it's a, it's a combination of
00:11:08.140 camera tricks, just kind of the way I was sitting, sitting the lighting, all of those things.
00:11:13.540 Those were normal jeans of all of the things I've been accused of in my time doing this,
00:11:20.900 all of the accusations leveled at me. That is, uh, perhaps the worst and I'm simply not going to
00:11:28.740 stand for it, but you can go check out that, um, that interview where, where me and my normal
00:11:33.520 jeans, I am interviewing Candace Owens. Okay. Uh, number one from the daily wire, Republican
00:11:39.380 Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson signed Senate bill six on Tuesday that bans abortion unless the life
00:11:45.280 of the mother is endangered. So this is almost a full on abortion ban. Supporters of the bill hope
00:11:52.200 that it could force the Supreme court to revisit Roe v. Wade, though opponents intend to block it
00:11:57.040 before the law takes effects effect later this year. Um, Republican state Senator Jason Rappert,
00:12:02.520 the bill sponsor said we must abolish abortion in this nation just as we abolish slavery in the 19th
00:12:06.900 century. All lives matter. Um, Hutchinson was at first reluctant to sign the bill because it didn't
00:12:12.480 provide exceptions in the case of rape or incest, but explain in a statement that he ultimately decided
00:12:17.060 to support it. Um, now a couple of things here. First of all, there, there absolutely should not
00:12:24.260 be exceptions for rape, rape and incest when it comes to abortion bans. Um, there should be exceptions
00:12:31.080 for the life of the mother either. And the reason for that is very simple that that's a non-existent
00:12:37.660 category. So you might say it's no harm to put it in there because that doesn't, that's not something
00:12:44.500 that really exists. Um, as in a life-saving abortion is not something that exists. Abortion has never
00:12:53.140 saved life of a mother. There's never been a time when a woman needed an abortion, which is an
00:12:59.140 abortion. What does that mean? It means to directly and intentionally kill the child. That's never
00:13:05.120 been necessary to save the life of the mother. Now there've been plenty of times when, um, you know,
00:13:12.780 especially, you know, we hear this, especially with, with late, late term abortions where we're told by
00:13:17.500 the left that the only reason why a woman would get a late term abortion is, is, is, you know, in a
00:13:23.480 catastrophic medical situation where she needs it to save her own life. Well, yeah, there, there may be
00:13:28.460 cases where the pregnancy has to end in order to save the woman's life. The question is whether you
00:13:35.120 kill the child before you end the pregnancy because one way or another, especially later term,
00:13:40.940 if you're ending the pregnancy, it means there's going to be a delivery. It means you are taking
00:13:45.320 the child out of the mother's womb, right? And absolutely, if that needs to happen to save the
00:13:51.440 mother's life, do it. The question is, do you, do you take the extra step of killing the child
00:13:57.180 before you extract him from the womb or even as you are extracting him from the womb, which is what
00:14:03.480 they do in partial birth abortions? There's no way that you would need to do that in order to save the
00:14:09.600 mother's life. I mean, there could be other cases, really difficult cases where a woman, where she's
00:14:15.080 pregnant, uh, you know, is, is diagnosed with advanced stage cancer. And she's told that, look, if you treat
00:14:22.100 the cancer, it might kill the child. Um, but that's not an abortion either. You know, taking a step to
00:14:28.540 treat an illness, a disease or cancer in the mother, even if it were to have the effect tragically of
00:14:36.140 killing a child, that is not to directly and intentionally kill the child. So that's not an
00:14:40.060 abortion. So this is a made up category. The reason I'm actually opposed to putting those exceptions
00:14:46.860 in is that, um, the way that, what the left wants to do with the life of the mother, they want to
00:14:52.480 expand that to mean, well, not just life, but physical wellbeing. And by wellbeing, we also mean
00:15:00.720 emotional wellbeing. And suddenly by the way that they categorize it, every abortion in some sense
00:15:07.480 preserves the life of the mother because of nothing else that preserves her emotional wellbeing.
00:15:12.120 Um, and for rape and incest, you know, the reason why the exception shouldn't be in there to me again
00:15:17.940 is, is, is simple, which doesn't make it easy, but it's simple just in the fact that, uh, we do not
00:15:26.960 punish children, especially with execution for crimes committed by their father. That's, that's not
00:15:35.640 what, what you do in a civilized society. You want to talk about abortion execution for rapists?
00:15:42.400 We can talk about that. I'm all ears, but you can't punish the child for that.
00:15:48.980 So that's why I think you don't make the exceptions. But, uh, in this case, this is a,
00:15:52.880 uh, even with that, that exception in there, this is something to be celebrated. And, um, will it,
00:15:58.740 will it cause this confrontation on the Supreme court? I don't know. It seems kind of far-fetched.
00:16:04.680 It also seemed far-fetched that even if it makes it to the, to the Supreme court,
00:16:07.940 that this Supreme court with its current makeup would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade,
00:16:14.800 Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, I, you know, Roberts, I don't see any of them voting to overturn Roe
00:16:20.240 v. Wade, but even so, um, it's, uh, it is certainly a major step in the right direction.
00:16:25.600 And Alabama should be, uh, should be praised and celebrated for that. Okay. Number two,
00:16:29.800 Fox 40 reports, Minneapolis leaders say they'll reopen a barricaded intersection known as George
00:16:35.380 Floyd square after the murder trial of the former police officer accused of killing him. But the
00:16:40.180 activists who serve as unofficial leaders and organizers of this area have issued 24 demands
00:16:45.340 before they'll step aside, even calling for a recall of the County prosecutor. Uh, so they're
00:16:50.660 making demands. They, they've occupied this part of the city and they're not going to leave until
00:16:55.200 they, until we, until their demands are met. Um, here's a report done by a reporter, Brian Enten,
00:17:01.940 who's exploring this issue further and encounter some of the, um, insurrectionists and terrorists
00:17:06.960 occupying this part of the city. Here's how that went. Let's watch this area behind me, uh, is the
00:17:12.100 George Floyd Memorial. This is where George Floyd was killed back in May. Take a look. Um, these barricades
00:17:18.860 have been set up by, uh, by protesters and supporters of the movement. Uh, they don't allow
00:17:24.820 anyone in, not even the police. It's called an autonomous zone. Uh, and yeah.
00:17:30.360 You're going to be in a bad situation here in a second. Oh, I thought if we were on this
00:17:33.620 side of the barricade. You're going to be in a bad situation in a second.
00:17:36.320 What do you mean by bad situation? Because you've been called out for what you are and you need
00:17:39.580 to get out of here. Please go. No, we know what you are. You need to get in your car and go.
00:17:44.560 It's very tense near the memorial and a militant style group has closed off several blocks with
00:17:57.320 barricades. What's the situation at the memorial? The situation at the memorial is, um, from what I
00:18:04.820 understand is kind of volatile. Um, people that want to go and support, um, doesn't feel a sense
00:18:13.640 of inclusion. Um, there is more of a like militant type atmosphere over there and a sense of fear.
00:18:23.580 Kim Griffin supports police reform and was outside the courthouse protesting Floyd's death,
00:18:28.480 but she does not agree with what's happening at the memorial. Her nephew, 28-year-old Emez Wright,
00:18:33.920 was shot and killed there over the weekend. Were police able to get in and help him?
00:18:38.760 Police were not allowed to get into that area. He was carried out of, outside the zone of
00:18:45.500 George Floyd Square. But not allowed by who? I mean, they're the police.
00:18:49.480 The, uh, the law enforcement, it was made clear law enforcement was not welcome to penetrate that
00:18:55.640 zone. Um, so law enforcement isn't welcome. They're just not, that's something you could do if you're on
00:19:01.260 the left. If you're a left-wing activist, you can just say, well, you're not welcome here.
00:19:04.880 We're going to set up, we're going to set up camp here. You're allowed to play revolutionary
00:19:08.140 for several weeks or several months and, and say to law enforcement, yeah, we don't want you here.
00:19:13.780 And law enforcement will turn around and say, all right. The thing that, that, the thing that always
00:19:19.420 frustrates me about this is that you watch these videos and the people doing this are so
00:19:25.320 unintimidating and weak looking, and they're allowed to get away with it. Those two people
00:19:31.200 that walked up to the reporter and said, it's going to be a bad situation for you. If you don't
00:19:35.100 leave, you got a, it's a woman and some scrawny looking dude walking up. It's gonna be a real bet.
00:19:41.720 You better get the hell out of here. What the hell are you going to do? What are you going to do?
00:19:46.280 Do something about it. I would love to see that response, but of course the reporter just turns
00:19:50.980 around and walks away. And even the police turn around and say, well, yes, sir. I don't want any,
00:19:56.020 I don't want any bad news from you. You look like a tough customer.
00:20:01.620 And they're allowed to do this. But remember, remember again, what we're told by the media
00:20:05.660 that, uh, that, that these people, the left-wing activists, they're the ones who get the real
00:20:13.920 tough treatment from law enforcement and the government, as opposed to the, the rioters in January 6th.
00:20:19.660 One of whom shot to death on the spot, if you recall. Uh, and then all the others are being
00:20:26.460 hunted down by the government and, and, and given, you know, being charged with, with crimes that
00:20:31.700 will land them in jail for 10 to 20 years. Meanwhile, the left-wing activists are allowed
00:20:36.980 to take over whole city blocks. Oh, but okay. Minneapolis leaders say that we're only going to
00:20:43.700 let them do this until the end of the trial. So we give them a few weeks more to take over this
00:20:50.200 part of the city. What else are we going to do? I mean, if we, if we tell them to go away,
00:20:55.440 they'll be mad at us. They'll be upset. All right. Number three, education week has an article
00:21:03.320 titled Texas school districts face safety dilemma after governor lifts mask order. And this is about
00:21:09.060 schools in Texas deciding whether to have mask mandates in their individual schools, uh, because
00:21:14.140 the statewide mandate has been taken away. But the governor said that, you know, individual districts
00:21:18.720 and, and, uh, localities can come up with their own policies. Um, and this is, you're seeing this
00:21:24.720 more and more as more schools open. They're, they're dealing with this question of, should we have the
00:21:29.300 kids wearing masks all day? And a lot of schools are, they have this kids wearing masks all day while
00:21:33.860 they're in, in, in school, but let me help you out. If you're, if you're a school district dealing
00:21:38.380 with this question, should we have the kids in masks all day? Should we not? Um, you should not
00:21:43.020 very, very easy answer. You absolutely should not masks for kids, especially if they're going to be
00:21:50.160 wearing all day in school are not only unnecessary because we know that kids are not a major risk group,
00:21:58.480 both for contracting and spreading the virus, but also so unbelievably unsanitary and gross.
00:22:06.380 I mean, think about anyone who's a parent of, of especially younger kids. Think about, I mean,
00:22:12.240 I think about my, my kids now, my son at the age of seven, at the end of the day, just like his shirt
00:22:21.540 will look like he dug it out of the bottom of a dumpster. And it did not look that way in the
00:22:27.240 morning when we put it on him. We, everything is nice and clean, put it on him. And within hours,
00:22:32.380 really within minutes, sometimes it, it, it looks, um, gross. And he can go through, he can go through
00:22:38.000 four or five shirts in a day and make them all look like that because kids are dirty. It's part of
00:22:43.700 being a kid, part of the fun of being a kid. They're not very hygiene focused. You work with them on
00:22:50.180 that, but that's not a concern that they have. And then you're going to take this piece. So you,
00:22:56.500 you think about what a shirt looks like on a child after wearing it all day. Now you can take a piece
00:23:02.000 of cloth and put it over their mouth and have them simply stewing in their own germs all day. It's
00:23:09.040 disgusting. I have so many times when I've been at the store, been out, um, I have heard parents
00:23:18.400 telling their kids, I've heard sentences like, stop licking your mask. Um, stop chewing on your mask.
00:23:28.620 These are the things you have to, now I don't say that to my kids because I don't really make them
00:23:31.620 wear a mask in the first place. But if I did that, I'd be telling them the same thing. That's what a kid's
00:23:36.020 going to do. A six-year-old. Do you have any idea what they're doing under that mask? It's like
00:23:43.340 snot and they're licking it and just gross. And you haven't wearing it all day. I mentioned this
00:23:52.680 yesterday on Twitter and someone said, well, easy solution. Uh, just give your child an extra mask.
00:24:00.660 Give them two or three extra masks. Then you can change them out. You'll always have a clean one.
00:24:04.340 See, this is the problem. The people pushing for and advocating these policies don't know the first
00:24:10.800 damn thing about kids. Okay. You give them extra masks. Here's what's going to happen.
00:24:17.300 Either of those extra masks are also going to look like they've been stewing in a dumpster
00:24:20.780 or more likely the kid's going to lose them. You think you can give your kid an extra mask
00:24:26.960 and he's still going to have it two hours later? I put shoes on my kids as we've been over and they
00:24:34.280 won't even still have those two hours later. And they're on their, the shoes are on their feet.
00:24:39.260 You think you can just give them a few extra masks? They're going to very responsibly when they
00:24:44.580 notice that the first mask is a little dirty, they'll take that one off neatly, put that away
00:24:48.440 to be cleaned, take out the next one. That's what kids are going to do. Sure. It's so disgusting.
00:24:54.780 There is no way whatever, whatever minor risk, uh, whatever comparatively minor risk there is for
00:25:01.040 kids with COVID and spreading COVID. There is no way that it outweighs the, the, the, the hygiene
00:25:07.600 concerns of having these kids wear masks all day. Meanwhile, Dr. Fauci on CNN was asked to explain
00:25:14.440 why people, um, who've been vaccinated can't return to traveling and other normal activities.
00:25:20.640 And he didn't have a good answer as always, but here's what he said.
00:25:24.580 We know from the Biden administration that they say it will make its decisions based on science.
00:25:29.380 What's the science behind not saying it's safe for people who have been vaccinated, receive two doses
00:25:36.180 to travel? You know, that's a very good question, John. And, and the CDC is carefully heading in that
00:25:44.120 direction. Uh, you know, when we, when, when Dr. Walensky made the announcement a day or two ago
00:25:50.420 about the fact that when you have a couple of people, two or three or more people in a family
00:25:55.340 setting, both of whom are vaccinated, even if it's someone from another, a friend that doesn't have to
00:26:00.920 be a member of the family, that was the first in a multi-step process that they are going to be
00:26:06.400 rolling out. They're being careful. Understandably, they want to get science. They want to get data.
00:26:11.460 And then when you don't have the data and you don't have the actual evidence, then you've got
00:26:16.300 to make a judgment call. And I think that's what you're going to be seeing in the next weeks. You're
00:26:21.280 going to see little by little more and more guidelines, getting people to be more and more
00:26:25.960 flexible. The first installation of this is what can vaccinated people do in the home setting.
00:26:31.900 Obviously the next one is going to be what you're asking. What about travel? What about going out?
00:26:37.060 What about getting a haircut? What about doing things like that? That's all imminently going
00:26:41.440 to be coming out. What about getting a haircut? I can't, is there anyone, I guess if you live
00:26:47.360 in a state or a city where they still have this stuff shut down, there's not a lot you
00:26:50.320 can do, but is there anyone still waiting around in their own personal life to, to hear the
00:26:58.980 guidelines or like, you're not going to do anything, even if it's available to you, you're
00:27:03.260 not going to do it until you get the guidelines from Fauci and see the CDC. Is there anyone still
00:27:06.880 doing that? Well, yeah, I guess a lot, a lot of people are haven't grown tired of it yet.
00:27:14.140 And so Fauci is saying, well, we got to, you know, we don't have the data yet. So we'll just
00:27:19.740 err on the side. We'll err on the side of having people continue to be shut away in their homes,
00:27:24.600 not living their lives. Let's, let's continue to err on that side. Even if they've been vaccinated,
00:27:29.280 you just don't, if you are stop waiting around for this dude and for the CDC and, and simply go live
00:27:39.020 your life. Uh, one other note on COVID here, one other COVID related thing. Number four, this is
00:27:46.060 from CNBC, a story related to something we discussed at the beginning of the week, but more details are
00:27:50.660 now coming out. Uh, it says an overwhelming majority of people who have been hospitalized,
00:27:54.580 needed a ventilator or died from COVID-19 have been overweight or obese. So the story that we had
00:28:00.480 a couple of days ago was that, uh, the, the countries that have obesity epidemics like our own
00:28:06.580 are also the ones that have been hit the, hit the hardest by, by COVID. No surprise there. Now this
00:28:11.840 gets more specific. It says among 148,494 adults who received a COVID-19 diagnosis during an emergency
00:28:18.280 department or inpatient visit at 238 U.S. hospitals from March to December, uh, 71,000 were
00:28:24.460 hospitalized. Of those who are admitted 27% were overweight and 50% were obese. So you've got
00:28:31.720 almost 78% overweight is defined as having a body mass index of 25 or more while obesity is defined
00:28:37.780 as having a BMI of 30 or more. Now you hear that it seems very significant and it is, uh, because we
00:28:45.000 know that this is something that has affected overweight and obese people, um, in a, in a hugely
00:28:52.860 disproportionate way, one word of caution I would mention. And that's why I think we need even more
00:28:58.420 information. I would be curious for more information on this. Um, because the categories
00:29:05.900 overweight and obese are, and I don't mean this as a pun are, are very broad. And so I, I think I'd
00:29:13.220 like to know more when we talk about overweight and obese, what exactly do you mean by that? And the
00:29:17.440 reason I say that is that if you go to CDC website, uh, and you go to their section, their obesity
00:29:24.560 section, and you look at their little charts telling you, you know, based on your height and
00:29:31.360 your sex, um, when are you, what qualifies as overweight or obese for you? You look at that chart,
00:29:38.720 it's madness. I mean, for example, according to the CDC, I'm six foot, six foot one on a good day.
00:29:48.000 Uh, some would say six foot, but six foot one on a good day. And for my height, I I'm told that I
00:29:54.560 think like certainly at 150 pounds, according to the CDC, I'm in the normal range at 150 pounds for a
00:30:02.040 six foot, one inch man, I would be skin and bones. I would look, I would be like Tom Hanks
00:30:09.300 after three, in Castaway after three years on the Island. If I was, if I was 150 pounds at my height.
00:30:16.520 And if I remember correctly, it's like, you know, 140, 145, all the way down to there for my height,
00:30:23.040 you'd be 140 pounds and still be considered normal up to maybe like 180, 175, 180 above that you're
00:30:29.380 overweight. So by the CDC's standards, they expect men to have no muscle mass whatsoever.
00:30:40.780 If you've ever even been inside a gym, if you've, if you've ever taken one rep on a, on a bench press,
00:30:47.980 then you're probably going to be overweight, if not obese by the CDC's definition. So I would be
00:30:54.080 curious about that when they say overweight and obese, are we talking about six foot one men or 200
00:30:59.240 pounds, which I think is a healthy weight for, for a man that height? Uh, are we talking about
00:31:03.180 270 pounds? Is that what you mean? Big difference. Okay. Number five, finally, from the Daily Wire,
00:31:09.440 it says, you know, ever the company that makes Dove soap and other beauty and personal care products
00:31:13.500 announced this week that it would stop using the word normal on its packaging because it's not
00:31:18.060 inclusive enough. Reuters reported that the London based company will also stop digital
00:31:23.900 alterations of body shapes and skin color of models used in its advertising. Um,
00:31:30.140 the, but then it goes on to say there doesn't appear to be any backlash that caused the current
00:31:34.220 move by Unilever to remove the word normal from its packaging, but a poll conducted by the company
00:31:39.320 that surveyed 10,000 people found global support for removing the word. So they're just anticipating
00:31:43.980 it. And this is what companies are going to do now. They're going to drive the woke insanity
00:31:49.540 by trying to get out in front of it, but setting the precedent. So the woke mob hasn't quite yet
00:31:56.500 gotten around to, to actually being offended by the word normal, but Unilever is saying that they'll
00:32:02.020 get around to it soon. So we're going to get rid of the word now. And then woke mob looks at that and
00:32:07.380 they say, yeah, you know what? That is offensive. Good point. Wokeness will eventually make it impossible
00:32:14.000 to advertise anything because advertising is all about advancing some ideal, you know,
00:32:21.000 some notion of how things should be. And that's, that's not inclusive.
00:32:28.720 You can't really advertise your message, um, or advertise your product. If your message is that
00:32:34.500 everyone is perfect and fine, just the way they are. That's the problem. Even with a lot of, you know,
00:32:40.540 Dove, a lot of women's products and toiletries and cosmetic stuff in that vein, you know, for years
00:32:47.440 now, the main, they've been trying to walk this tightrope where the message is everyone is beautiful.
00:32:54.000 Everyone is wonderful. Just how they are. You're all, you're all princesses and goddesses. Uh, but by the
00:33:00.140 way, you'd be a lot better if you had our product. Wait a second. I thought you just said, I'm perfect how I
00:33:04.880 am. So it's going to become, it's going to become impossible eventually for these companies to
00:33:11.140 advertise. Um, which maybe isn't such a bad thing. That might be the one good thing that comes of a,
00:33:17.220 of the woke mob, less advertising from these kinds of companies. All right, we're going to move on now
00:33:22.600 to read the YouTube comments. And remember, speaking of YouTube, if you're watching on YouTube to, uh,
00:33:28.200 smash the like button, as the kids say, comment, subscribe, hit the notification bell. Um,
00:33:33.120 and I, you know, I decided, I think we're almost at 200,000 subscribers on YouTube.
00:33:38.720 And once we get to half a million, we're a long way off, but once we get there, there's going to
00:33:43.360 be a special treat. I don't know exactly what it is yet. Maybe I will perform slam poetry. That's it.
00:33:54.580 I will have a, uh, uh, uh, an original slam work of slam poetry that I will perform on this show when
00:34:01.960 we get to half a million. That's your incentive. Might've been more of like a D incentive than
00:34:05.860 anything else. Okay. This is Miley Z TV says my daily routine has become watching this damn show.
00:34:12.600 I'm addicted. Well, a little aggressive, a little negative in the way you put it, but, uh, but
00:34:18.260 thanks for watching. Bill and Sanchez says, Matt, um, are you rolling around town in a super dope
00:34:24.420 sports car or are you living the dad life cruising in a minivan? Uh, none of the above. We, we,
00:34:29.460 we go the SUV route. I'm fine with the minivan. My wife's still eventually every parent breaks down.
00:34:36.940 I've, I've, I got there a couple of years ago where I said, fine, let's just do the damn minivan,
00:34:41.520 whatever. It's a lot easier. It, you know, we've had the experience with the minivan a couple of
00:34:45.900 times when our car has been in the shop, we've had to rent, rent a car. And, uh, yeah, the minivan,
00:34:50.520 it's not a looker. It's not going to win any style points, but it is so much easier and more
00:34:54.000 convenient than any other kind of car for, for hauling a bunch of kids around. So eventually every,
00:34:58.540 every parent breaks down. I got there. My wife is not, she's not ready yet for that, uh, to be a
00:35:04.060 minivan mom quite yet. And so she'll be there soon, but as it happens right now, we're not,
00:35:09.560 we're not doing that. Levin says on the way we're, we're, we're on the way to Jesus being canceled.
00:35:15.880 Well, we're already there. In fact, one of the, uh, one viral video that I was planning to talk
00:35:21.640 about on the show this, this week, maybe we'll still get around to it, but a viral video,
00:35:26.040 been making the rounds on online. I think originates on Tik TOK of course is, and I believe
00:35:30.640 this guy calls himself a pastor, but he's talking about how Jesus was a racist. So yeah, we're,
00:35:38.500 we're already there. I mean, in a way, you know, we, we've been there for 2000 years,
00:35:43.900 but, um, but eventually a more concerted effort. Now, will we get to a point? I guess the question
00:35:50.040 is where because of the Bible's quote hate speech, it can't be sold on Amazon. Will we get to that
00:35:55.760 point? That's the question. I would say probably eventually. Yeah. Uh, Daniel Steven says, do you
00:36:02.480 Shapiro, Knowles and Clavin share a trauma bond over all the insults y'all get online? Is there any
00:36:08.380 caressing and crying in each other's arms off screen asking for a friend? Don't cancel me. Yeah. We,
00:36:14.300 that's what we need because we know Taylor Lorenz and other female journalists have been talking
00:36:19.120 about this a lot this week, how they get mean comments and there's a lot of trauma and you do
00:36:23.100 need, you do need, you do need a support system. And so at least we have each other for that.
00:36:27.760 It can be very upsetting, the mean comments. Um, and finally, have you noticed that you can freely
00:36:34.820 fulfill any of your wretched desires by simply calling yourself anti wretched desire? If you want
00:36:40.600 to be racist, call yourself anti-racist. You want to practice fascist tactics, boom, call yourself
00:36:46.480 anti-fascist on the flip side. You want to follow the science. You'll be labeled anti-science. You
00:36:52.240 have cracked the code. That is indeed exactly how it works. You know, I really believe the world would
00:36:57.500 be a much better place if people spend at least as much time reading books as they do scrolling
00:37:02.180 through social media, probably more, a lot more time reading books even, uh, but let's start small.
00:37:06.500 Let's try to do a 50 50 split here. If you agree with me and have been looking for a new title to
00:37:11.060 checkout, look no further. The New York times bestselling author and renowned podcast host,
00:37:15.440 none other than our very own Andrew Klavan just released the third and final installment of his
00:37:20.200 another kingdom series. The emperor sword finds Austin lively on the run between two realities as
00:37:25.580 his enemies close on all sides. Despite wild success in life, he begins to realize that a recurring
00:37:30.280 vision is actually a nightmare in disguise. He's caught in the coils of a terrible magic. And the only
00:37:34.300 way he can save his soul is to give up his success, reenter the 11 lands and find the emperor
00:37:38.800 Anastasius so he can restore queen Alinda to her throne. The first two books in the series
00:37:43.340 didn't disappoint. So I will personally be sitting down to find how this, uh, this whole adventure
00:37:48.500 concludes. The emperor sword is now available for purchase online. Go to amazon.com and search
00:37:52.820 the emperor's sword. Also, I got to tell you about, um, of course the Candace Owens show. I just
00:37:58.360 mentioned earlier in the show on election night, we announced that Candace Owens will be joining the
00:38:01.860 daily wire and it's finally happening. Candace's new show. Candace will premiere next Friday,
00:38:07.000 March 19th. Um, and this is going to be an exclusive to daily wire members. If you're not
00:38:12.500 a member, go to dailywire.com slash subscribe and use code Candace to get 25% off. Also, as I
00:38:18.160 mentioned, you can go to my YouTube channel. I got an interview with her. Uh, she's got a lot of
00:38:21.880 content, all the different channels, um, as we, you know, start to bring Candace into the, into the
00:38:27.220 fold again, that's dailywire.com slash subscribe, use code Candace to get 25% off. Now let's get to our
00:38:33.100 daily cancellation. So today we have a few cancellations to dole out and it all begins
00:38:40.000 with this question sent into Slate's advice column. Now, anybody who sends a question to
00:38:45.100 Slate's advice column deserves to be canceled on that basis alone. I cannot imagine ever facing a
00:38:49.900 quandary in my life where I think to myself, man, you know, Slate might know what to do here.
00:38:55.440 I have never been in a situation where I wondered what Slate might say about it.
00:39:00.500 And that's mostly because I know what Slate would say. They'd say that the cause of the
00:39:04.780 problem is racism, sexism, and transphobia, literally no matter what the problem actually
00:39:08.560 is. The problem could be like a flat tire or arthritis or anything. And that would be Slate's
00:39:14.100 answer. But this guy who uses the pseudonym suddenly the breadwinner thought that Slate would
00:39:20.000 be the best, best, best place to go with his issue. And here's what he wrote. It's a little bit
00:39:24.380 long, but let's read the whole thing. Bear with me. He says, I am a new father to a beautiful
00:39:28.600 10-month-old girl. My wife's company has a generous maternity leave policy, and she has
00:39:33.420 been at home with our daughter since the birth and is scheduled to go back to work just after
00:39:37.180 her first birthday in January. She recently told me she doesn't want to go back to her
00:39:41.600 job and would like to be a stay-at-home parent instead. I asked her why, and she said she
00:39:45.880 enjoys being a mother too much to leave our daughter to go back to work when she doesn't
00:39:49.060 need to. It's such a departure from our plans before the baby was born. She had a good job
00:39:53.180 that she enjoyed before going on leave and had always been adamant that she wanted to
00:39:57.360 continue working even after becoming a mom. We met when we worked at the same company many
00:40:00.860 years ago, and one of the things I was most attracted to about her was her ambition and
00:40:05.080 tenacity. It's really surprising to hear that her career isn't that important to her anymore.
00:40:09.020 Honestly, I don't want her to quit her job. She earns about the same as I do, and while we
00:40:13.040 could make ends meet on my income alone, it would impact our daily ability or our ability
00:40:17.280 to save and we need to give up one of our cars and cut back on extras that make life
00:40:21.560 more enjoyable. I also just don't want a stay-at-home mom-wife. I really admired my wife for
00:40:28.920 her work ethic, and I want her to set a good example for our daughter too. Seeing her give up like
00:40:34.400 this is really disappointing. I gently asked her if she thought her change in attitude could be
00:40:39.940 related to a possible mental health issue or postpartum depression, but she didn't take that
00:40:45.340 well. She says she only cares about our daughter, and that's where all her energy needs to go right
00:40:49.180 now and that if I love her, I will let her do this. I do love my wife, and I'm not interested
00:40:53.380 in divorce, but I'm seeing a whole side of her that I just don't like or admire. What should I do?
00:40:58.960 Okay, well, I mean, as long as he gently asked, he gently asked whether his wife wants to stay home
00:41:05.840 and raise their daughter due to a mental illness. Hey, honey, listen, I know you said you love being a
00:41:11.460 mother. You want to be home with our child full-time. I'm just wondering. I'm just wondering.
00:41:16.360 Are you having a psychotic break? Is that what this is? I'm only asking. What? I'm just asking.
00:41:23.260 I can't believe that didn't go over well. Now, I admit that I might be judging this man extra
00:41:29.760 harshly because I am also the breadwinner in my family, and we have four little mouths to feed
00:41:34.520 instead of one, and I personally really like supporting my family. I feel honored to do it,
00:41:39.460 fulfilled by it, and I love that my kids have their mom home with them. The idea of being
00:41:46.200 disappointed about being the breadwinner as a man is completely foreign to me. The idea of respecting
00:41:53.080 and admiring your wife less because she loves being a mom too much is also utterly foreign to me,
00:42:01.040 but we'll respond more to these ideas in a second. First, let's loop in our dear friend Jill
00:42:08.300 Falopovic. She's a feminist writer who always has exactly the sort of take you expect on these kinds
00:42:14.280 of issues. In a series of tweets, she responded, empathizing with the man, and empathizing with men
00:42:21.260 is usually not one of her strong suits, and she said in part, quote, I realize this is like the third
00:42:27.020 rail of the mommy wars, but yeah, lots of super ambitious people marry other super ambitious
00:42:31.700 people because they're attracted to ambition. I would have a really, really hard time being married
00:42:36.560 to a spouse who chose not to work, and now I'm really going to get myself yelled at, but I also
00:42:41.700 think the issue of example setting for a kid is totally fair. What example are you setting when dad
00:42:46.900 works for pay and mom does the care work at home? Lots of reasons not to want to set that kind of
00:42:52.240 example for a child. At-home work is incredibly isolating. It also occupies a pretty unique space
00:42:57.700 where it's centered on one of the most fundamental familial relationships, parent slash child.
00:43:02.280 No other job is like that, which is where the claim that staying at home is a job doesn't quite
00:43:06.820 tell the whole story. Okay, now there's a lot to be said on this topic. We don't have time to say
00:43:13.040 most of it. Instead, I just want to focus on two things. Maybe not even the two most important things,
00:43:17.720 but these two things. First, the idea that you have to choose between being ambitious
00:43:25.460 or raising your children full-time is asinine. Ambition in the positive sense of the word
00:43:31.660 is simply a strong desire to achieve some kind of worthwhile goal coupled with the determination to
00:43:39.200 see it through. That's what we mean when we speak positively about an ambitious person. Raising children
00:43:44.800 and tending to your family in your home requires a lot of ambition. Or to put it another way,
00:43:51.100 there's a big difference between children who are raised ambitiously and children who are not.
00:43:56.720 So to have ambition as a parent is to be active, to be present, not complacent. Here's a very simple
00:44:03.500 example of ambitious parenting. And this, again, is by far not the most profound example, but as I said,
00:44:09.640 a simple everyday example. An ambitious parent turns the TV off, says to the kids,
00:44:18.180 hey, let's go outside and play a game. Let's have a scavenger hunt. Let's do some activity that I have
00:44:22.980 planned. Some edifying and educational and fun activity that I have planned that we're going to
00:44:27.240 go do rather than just having you sit here and watch TV all day. Now, this is not necessarily the
00:44:32.580 parent's idea of a good time, but it's good for the kids in the long run. And you're putting the work
00:44:36.900 and effort in, in pursuit of that long-term benefit, rather than simply letting them watch TV
00:44:42.040 and play video games all day. At the end of the day, as a parent, you know if you parented
00:44:47.940 ambitiously or not. And you may be more worn out after the day of ambitious parenting, but there's
00:44:54.300 also a deep fulfillment that you feel from it. And I would submit that in many cases, parenting provides
00:44:59.900 more chances to have that kind of feeling, that sort of satisfied, tired feeling of knowing you
00:45:07.460 put a hard day's work in and you were ambitious and proactive. Parenting provides more opportunities
00:45:14.200 to feel that way than a nine-to-five job does. In many nine-to-five jobs, the structure is already
00:45:20.200 laid out. Your function is limited. Ambition doesn't even come into play most of the time.
00:45:25.640 There isn't much room to set your own path. As a parent, there is no structure but what you put
00:45:32.840 in place. There is no plan but what you devise. And if you don't put a structure in place, if you
00:45:40.020 have no plan, if you don't do anything, if you just let the days flow by, counting on the glowing
00:45:45.500 screens to keep your kids distracted, sure, you're going to feel totally empty, alone, bored, and
00:45:49.920 miserable. But that's where ambition comes into play. Second point, no, being a stay-at-home mom
00:45:58.520 is not a job. It's not. A job is something you get specifically paid to do. Many jobs require you
00:46:07.180 to punch in and punch out. You might even get a name tag. Parenting involves none of that. It's not
00:46:12.100 a job, but it is work. Okay, that's the distinction here. A job is just a type of work. Being a stay-at-home
00:46:20.600 mom is not a job, but it is a type of work. Running a self-sustaining farm is also not a job, but it's
00:46:28.860 definitely work. The real question is whether a job is a more noble, more worthwhile, more important
00:46:36.520 kind of work than parenting. And the answer to that is obviously no. Not all jobs are created
00:46:42.040 equal. Some jobs are more important than others. Just as not all parents are created equal, some
00:46:46.600 parents are better than others. But speaking in broad strokes here, working for a wage at the
00:46:51.260 behest of a large company under the supervision of bosses and managers is not some kind of noble,
00:46:56.020 romantic thing. It's also not liberating. The idea that a woman is liberated from the servile bonds
00:47:02.880 of motherhood by becoming a wage slave for a corporation is frankly ridiculous. Nothing wrong
00:47:08.980 with working a job. I do it. Somebody in the family's got to do it. Let's not delude ourselves
00:47:14.280 about the nature of what we're doing at our jobs. Here's the other tough reality. You are replaceable
00:47:21.400 at your job. Totally replaceable. We all are. Your value to your employer is entirely based on how well
00:47:29.380 you perform. If they can find someone who performs better than you, you go from limited value to no
00:47:37.640 value. And either way, once you exit one way or another, whether you leave on your own or are
00:47:42.300 fired, the hole you leave behind will be filled and you'll be quickly forgotten. That's what it means
00:47:48.840 to work at a job. It means that your worth is quantified in dollars and cents. It means that whatever
00:47:53.880 you do, you're only doing it because, and so long as, you're given money in return. There's nothing
00:47:59.780 fundamentally wrong with any of this. As I said, someone's got to do it. But it's hard to see this
00:48:04.160 as somehow more admirable than full-time parenting. Jobs are mercenary. Jobs are temporal. Jobs are
00:48:12.480 revolving doors. Parenting is none of that, or at least it shouldn't be. Which is why even though I
00:48:19.160 have a job, I find my real worth and value at home with my family, because that's what really matters.
00:48:25.060 And even if you don't have a family, well, you still better find your worth and value somewhere
00:48:30.640 else. You better find some deeper, more meaningful thing to find your worth and value in than your job.
00:48:39.040 That's the case for everybody. And so parents who do this full-time, incredibly worthwhile and
00:48:44.860 valuable thing. People who can't see that, like our friend Jill and the guy who wrote that letter,
00:48:52.060 are, of course, canceled. And we'll leave it there for today. Thanks for watching. Thanks for listening.
00:48:57.500 Have a great day. Godspeed.
