00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, rioting ravages another American city after a black man was
00:00:04.460 killed by police. Yet hundreds of white people have been killed by cops over the past year,
00:00:09.260 and there has not been one protest or riot over any of those deaths, if you've noticed.
00:00:13.820 What does that tell us? We'll talk about that. Also, five headlines, including the media already
00:00:16.860 beginning to preemptively slander the jurors in the Derek Chauvin case. And the governor of
00:00:21.440 Arkansas continues his media tour to try and justify his support for child castration.
00:00:26.580 It's not going well. Also, polls show that many Americans would like The Rock
00:00:30.360 to run for president. Almost 50% want The Rock to run for president. Why? We'll talk about that,
00:00:35.340 plus our daily cancellation, and much more today on the Matt Wall Show.
00:00:45.620 So the film rewinds itself and replays again and again. More rioting in an American city on Sunday
00:00:51.420 night, this time back in Minneapolis, Ground Zero, the place where our Groundhog's Day
00:00:55.220 nightmare began a year ago. In a possible preview of the rioting that will probably happen when the
00:01:01.400 Derek Chauvin trial concludes, no matter how it concludes, BLM militants smashed police cars,
00:01:06.300 assaulted police officers, vandalized police stations, looted local businesses. Video footage
00:01:12.000 shows the pillagers ransacking shoe stores, auto parts, retailers, pharmacies, dollar stores,
00:01:18.460 even pizza restaurants, a little Caesars. They rioted, stole some packages of dough, I guess. I don't know
00:01:24.360 why. As we've learned in recent months, no ointment can numb the pain of systemic racism quite like an armful
00:01:31.840 of stolen merchandise. At least that's what we're supposed to believe. Now, the thing that caused the
00:01:37.440 latest round of rioting is, as always, the depravity and moral degeneracy of the rioters themselves.
00:01:43.140 That's really what causes it. But the ostensible excuse, the cover for the chaos, is the death of a man
00:01:49.600 named Dante Wright, who was shot and killed by Brooklyn Center police during a traffic stop earlier in the
00:01:54.760 afternoon. Brooklyn Center is a town, I think, to the north of Minneapolis, nearby. Not many details are
00:02:02.020 currently available about this incident, and as of yet, the body cam footage has not been released.
00:02:07.160 The details don't matter anyway, right? They never do. BLM has its narrative, which is always the same
00:02:12.160 narrative, and is adjusted only to include the few sketchy and superficial details that get imprinted
00:02:19.500 immediately onto the public conscious, right? In this case, the detail is that Wright was pulled
00:02:26.640 over, allegedly, for an air freshener. Now, to hear people on Twitter tell it, and I have seen it
00:02:34.040 phrased exactly this way, Wright was shot by the cops for having an air freshener. They pulled him out of
00:02:41.740 the car, executed him on the spot for the air freshener, but really because they're racist.
00:02:48.000 This is the narrative. Doesn't matter if it's true or not, and incidentally, it is almost certainly
00:02:54.080 not true, as any rational person would immediately suspect. Doesn't mean the shooting was justified,
00:03:00.080 but any person with a brain knows when they hear that story, there's got to be more to it,
00:03:05.080 right? Based on the few seemingly reliable details that had been provided, Wright was
00:03:11.160 initially pulled over for a traffic violation. Maybe it was the air freshener. Doesn't really
00:03:16.240 matter. But then it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant. Officers tried to apprehend
00:03:22.880 him, but he ran back to his vehicle. He was shot. At some point during that process, he drove away
00:03:28.840 and crashed shortly after. As journalist Andy Ngo reports, Wright had previously posted many pictures
00:03:36.600 on social media of himself flashing gang signs, using drugs, and so on. Now, none of this makes
00:03:42.260 the shooting justified, but it does point to there being more to the story than just an innocent guy
00:03:47.900 with an air freshener. There's always more to the story, of course. It's possible that the shooting
00:03:55.560 was still unjustified, that he was murdered, that it's all as bad or nearly as bad as BLM says it is.
00:04:01.900 But if that's the case, it will be by mere happenstance. BLM will automatically claim that
00:04:10.140 every shooting of a black man by police is a racist execution. Perhaps one of these days they'll
00:04:16.360 accidentally be right. I mean, they haven't been right even once so far about everything. When you take
00:04:25.440 any individual incident, all the things that BLM says about that incident, they've never been right
00:04:31.740 about all of those things. And in terms of the most basic claim of a cop shooting a black man
00:04:40.040 because of racism, they have literally never been right about that. That has never turned out to be
00:04:46.140 true. Not once. Maybe this will be the one occasion where they're right. I doubt whether this is such an
00:04:53.940 occasion, but I'll wait for time and evidence to tell the whole story. Whatever really happened
00:04:59.300 with Daunte Wright? What we can say for sure is that the average BLM or Antifa radical out in the
00:05:05.080 streets protesting doesn't care what really happened with Daunte Wright. Even less do they care about
00:05:11.160 police brutality or fascism. Least of all, do they feel any actual pain over the loss of life?
00:05:17.940 The anger is performance. The tears are for show. This is all one big stage play. When they're out in
00:05:27.320 the street crying because of Daunte Wright, I don't believe the tears and you shouldn't either.
00:05:33.520 The only thing that's real is the physical destruction they cause. Everything else is fake.
00:05:38.400 Now, if that seems like a harsh assessment, consider the fact that between January 1st, 2020 and March
00:05:46.520 31st, 2021, over these past 15 or 16 months, when rioting over alleged police brutality has been so
00:05:53.620 on trend, there have been 507 white people shot to death by police compared to 271 black people.
00:06:02.460 And yet somehow nobody knows the name of any of those white people, save one, Ashley Babbitt.
00:06:10.020 She was an unarmed woman shot in the neck and killed by Capitol police on January 6th.
00:06:14.260 We know her name, not because BLM rallied to her cause, but because they so conspicuously refused
00:06:20.080 to rally to her cause. Indeed, her death was more likely to be celebrated by the very people who'd spent
00:06:27.000 the previous year pretending to care about the killing of unarmed civilians. Anytime you see someone with
00:06:31.580 BLM in their, in their, their Twitter profile, um, and they're lamenting the, the, the, the death
00:06:38.020 of Dante Wright or George Floyd or anyone else, search their name and then the name Ashley Babbitt
00:06:43.820 and see what they had to say about her. Because I will tell you right now, it's either nothing
00:06:49.800 or they were celebrating it. Aside from Babbitt, the names of the other white people killed by police
00:06:57.160 are known only to their families and friends. Not one protest has been staged on their behalf.
00:07:03.920 Not one riot has broken out. Not one building burned, burned in their honor. Not one pair of shoes
00:07:10.120 looted from a footlocker. You know, it's a curious thing that those who are still overwhelmed by the
00:07:17.060 pain of George Floyd's death a year later, they haven't gotten over it. There's overwhelmed. They
00:07:22.460 didn't know him. They didn't know anything about him. They're overwhelmed by the pain.
00:07:27.360 It's curious. They can be so selective in that pain. Was Floyd more deserving of mourning? Was
00:07:33.940 Dante Wright more deserving of mourning than any average white person killed by the cops?
00:07:40.060 Now the excuse most commonly given for this disparity in coverage and outrage is that while
00:07:44.420 black people are killed by police less often, um, when you account for population disparities,
00:07:49.880 they are still more likely to be killed by police. And I've addressed this claim many times.
00:07:54.400 Now, even if this statistic needed no qualification, how does that explain or justify the fact that
00:08:01.620 people who protest alleged police brutality never protest alleged police brutality against white
00:08:06.580 people? The fact that it happens proportionally less often, what that means that it's not an outrage.
00:08:14.780 It's not a tragedy. The fact, the fact that black people are more likely to be killed by police
00:08:20.720 means that George Floyd's death warrants a year of public wailing and mourning and the death of a
00:08:25.320 white man warrants no public wailing or mourning at all. Okay. Because the proportionality of outrage
00:08:33.360 is, is there's 0%. You want to talk about percentages. You want to say that there's a,
00:08:40.980 there's a smaller percentage of white people killed by cops. Okay. But the percentage of outrage over
00:08:48.080 those killings is 0%, 0%. It appears that the black lives matter crowd really does believe that only
00:08:58.820 black lives matter, or at least that they matter quite a bit more than white lives. What other
00:09:04.480 conclusion could one draw? Now, as it happens, the statistics cited earlier does require a qualification.
00:09:10.860 Yes, a black person is more likely to be killed by police, but a black person is also more likely to commit
00:09:15.680 violent crime. If we're talking about proportionality, we have to look at the whole picture. The whole picture,
00:09:22.940 even after just a glance, severely complicates the simplified racial narrative that you hear from the BLM set.
00:09:29.280 But again, this is beside the present point. That doesn't even matter for the point that I'm making
00:09:37.240 here. No statistic can explain why the emotional reaction from the so-called anti-fascists should be
00:09:45.440 so selective. Why they should remain sitting on their hands while white people are shot dead,
00:09:51.800 waiting until someone with a darker skin tone suffers that same fate. Real moral outrage doesn't work.
00:09:59.280 like that. And that's how we know that none of the outrage we're seeing is real. None of it is
00:10:09.520 real. It is all performance. It is all fake. It is ideological, really, when it comes down to it.
00:10:21.420 And we should always remember that, especially in the months ahead, because there's going to be a lot
00:10:24.680 more of this. A lot more. Now let's get to our five headlines.
00:10:29.160 Quick word from our good friends at constitutioncoach.com. Listen, first of all, it is,
00:10:39.700 what is it, April 12th. So you got just a couple of weeks left to sign up for Constitution Coach
00:10:45.120 and their class on April 25th. So you want to do that right after I'm done talking. Make sure you do
00:10:51.400 that because my friends over at constitutioncoach.com have a lot of great programs for equipping citizens
00:10:55.400 to defend liberty by studying and living out the Constitution. I've experienced their constitutional
00:11:00.100 defense course myself. I can wholeheartedly recommend it. And I take my word on it and go
00:11:05.220 do it. You won't regret it. Believe me. You get an amazing combination of intellectual ammunition
00:11:10.180 and live classes with Rick Green, America's Constitution Coach. And then you also get the
00:11:13.520 physical training at the premier firearms training facility in the nation. You get all this in the
00:11:17.360 same course. You get to join hundreds of other patriots from across the nation for a time of learning,
00:11:21.560 training, fellowship with like-minded people. And that's a really important part of this as well.
00:11:25.400 Um, and these, uh, look, I, I went to a whole new skill level through this. They'll do the same
00:11:30.660 for you no matter where you're starting from. It doesn't matter. So don't just get a gun, learn
00:11:34.360 how to carry with confidence and get the training you need at constitutioncoach.com. Rick and the
00:11:38.360 Constitution Coach team have another class on April 25th. It'll fill up fast. So go now to
00:11:42.920 constitutioncoach.com. Okay. Well, speaking of writing to come, it's already started. Well,
00:11:51.400 the rioting has already started, but, um, something else that's already started is, is, uh, the,
00:11:56.860 the attacking of the jurors in the Derek Chauvin case. Now we know, you know, if Derek Chauvin is
00:12:04.820 acquitted or if he's found, if he's found guilty on a lesser charge, um, what's going to happen right
00:12:10.720 away is that we're going to get the media and the left attacking the jurors and accusing them all of
00:12:14.720 being racism. You know, even though there's, I don't, I don't, I don't know if top of my head
00:12:18.620 what the racial configuration of the jury is. Um, we can certainly assume that there are black and
00:12:24.540 whites on the jury, but they're all going to be racist. They're all tools of white supremacy if
00:12:28.840 he's acquitted or, or found guilty on a lesser charge. Um, the only maybe surprise here is that,
00:12:34.980 that you would have thought they'd wait until the verdict is read before they start this process,
00:12:40.020 but they're not. So I guess that MSNBC already attacking the jurors in the Chauvin case.
00:12:45.660 Let's listen to that. But then we have to think about the juror and you have to remember this
00:12:50.500 jury has been seated with ignorance. It's been seated with people who either did not see the
00:12:56.600 video, which is almost impossible to do in this country or saw the video and couldn't decide if
00:13:02.740 sometimes maybe black people do need to be choked to death for eight minutes and 46 seconds.
00:13:06.800 Maybe they had it coming. So those are the people that we're talking to here. It's not talking to
00:13:11.780 me. It's not trying to convince you that that ship sailed long ago, right? They're trying to
00:13:16.160 convince 12 people that have been picked specifically for not knowing things. And so that's what,
00:13:22.820 that's what frightens me. No, they don't need to put Chauvin on the stand. They need one juror
00:13:28.280 to refuse to see reason.
00:13:30.220 What frightens him? He's just discovered how juries work. He never knew how juries this,
00:13:37.420 this guy, I don't know what this guy's name is. Um, we'll just, we'll just for simple, simple,
00:13:42.480 you know, to make it simple, we'll just call him a moron because that's what he is. So this moron
00:13:46.900 has just discovered how juries work in the United States. That's what, that's what frightens him.
00:13:53.460 What frightens him is that the jury is objective. You know, it scares me. Is it going to be objective?
00:13:58.080 You know, what really frightens me in this case is that the juror, the jury, um, didn't go into this
00:14:03.480 with a verdict already in mind. They didn't go into this with preconceived assumptions.
00:14:10.800 And by the way, they probably did. Okay. Um, we, we can't really know what's going on inside their
00:14:16.000 minds, but here, here's what he is worried that the jury selection process may have worked exactly as
00:14:27.180 it's supposed to work. Now, if you care about things like justice and truth and, you know,
00:14:33.660 the, the rule of law, uh, which of course nobody on MSNBC does, but if you do,
00:14:38.180 then your concern about jury selection in any case is the opposite of that.
00:14:43.320 What you're worried about is that there are people who slip through the cracks who already made up
00:14:47.560 their mind before going in. And there's no way to, you can go through the whole process of jury
00:14:51.460 selection. You're going to end up, especially with a high profile case, you could very easily end up
00:14:55.780 with people like that. The whole jury could be people that have already made up their mind.
00:14:58.900 How do you know? Can't know for sure, but that should be the worry.
00:15:04.460 He's concerned that they might be ignorant about the case going in. Yeah, moron. That's exactly how
00:15:09.760 it's supposed to work. You want to find people who never heard of the case. And then the first time
00:15:16.860 they're hearing about it is when they're hearing both sides presented in a court of law. It's very
00:15:21.680 difficult to find those kinds of people, especially with a case like this, but that's what you're
00:15:24.820 supposed to look for. This is just like, this is as dumb as who was it? Chelsea Handler who sent out
00:15:35.800 a tweet a few weeks ago saying that it's outrageous that we would be giving Derek Chauvin a trial when
00:15:41.700 we all saw the crime on video. What kind of country is this where we give a man a trial?
00:15:47.100 What kind of country is it where we can't just take him out back and, you know, put one in his head
00:15:51.980 behind the shed somewhere? She, she was, she was outraged by the simple fact of someone receiving
00:16:02.080 a trial in front of a jury of their peers. And he's outraged by the same thing.
00:16:08.060 This is just, I mean, we can laugh about it because it's so stupid. You know, maybe I should,
00:16:12.700 I should pause and step, step back and even apologize. I've been calling him a moron this
00:16:19.080 whole time and I shouldn't be saying that because that lets him off the hook, you know, to call him
00:16:24.680 a moron or Chelsea Handler. Well, Chelsea Handler probably really is just a moron, but moron lets
00:16:30.820 them off the hook. I mean, they know better. This is evil. This is an evil person who you just heard
00:16:37.180 there. He obviously knows how juries work and that that is how a jury is supposed to work.
00:16:45.900 But he is setting up ahead of time to try to ruin these people's lives. If they don't
00:16:51.060 come to the verdict that, that, um, you know, he arrived at a verdict in his head
00:16:55.900 a second after seeing the video, didn't need any additional information, nothing. He already decided.
00:17:02.000 In fact, he decided the verdict on the George Floyd case before it even happened.
00:17:15.500 Okay. He had decided that morning when George Floyd was still alive and walking around,
00:17:21.400 he had decided a year before that. Okay. He, cause he's already decided that if a white police officer
00:17:28.660 kills black men, it is racism, period. He's already decided that. And he wants jurors who
00:17:36.520 have the same delusion that he does. Absolutely contemptible. It really is because think, I
00:17:44.420 mean, these jurors, man, you talk about a lose, lose situation, you know, and, and their whole
00:17:54.800 lives at the, after this probably going to be ruined because of guys like that. All right,
00:18:01.160 let's move on. Number two. Okay. I wanted to play this. Um, so we have another alleged police
00:18:06.940 brutality video that, that went viral and a lawsuit has been filed by the alleged victim.
00:18:13.800 Lieutenant Karen Nazario of Virginia is a army Lieutenant. He obviously didn't die. Hence he,
00:18:20.640 you know, filed a lawsuit personally, but he was pepper sprayed and taken to the ground during a
00:18:24.920 traffic stop. Recently, the full video is several minutes long. We can't play the whole thing,
00:18:28.620 but, um, as always, we'll play part of it. As always, the video fails to show what led up to this.
00:18:35.120 Um, but here's the part or part of the part that we are able to see. Let's watch what's going on.
00:18:41.340 You're fixing to ride the lightning, son. Get out of the car now. Get out of the car now. Get out of the car.
00:18:52.820 Sir, just get out the car. Work with us and we'll talk to you. Get out the car. You received our order.
00:18:58.340 Obey it. I'm, I'm, I'm honestly afraid to get out. Can I? Yeah, you should be. Get out. Get out. Get out.
00:19:05.340 He's got his hands out the window, but he's not, he's not getting out of the car. Now. I have not committed any crime. You're being stopped by a traffic violation. You're not cooperating at this point right now.
00:19:13.740 You're under arrest for, you're being detained. Okay. You're being detained for obstruction of justice.
00:19:18.020 I take violation. I do not have to get out. You haven't even told me why I'm being stopped.
00:19:22.500 Really? Get out of the car now. Get out of the car. Get out of the car. Get your hands off me. Get your hands off me.
00:19:28.060 You know what? Get your hands off me. Not a problem. Get back up, Daniel. I didn't do anything. Don't do that.
00:19:34.100 Sir, get out of the car now. Hey, sir. Get out of the car now. Sir, I'm trying to talk to you. Get out. Okay. I'm trying to talk. Get out.
00:19:40.540 Just get out of my car. Can you please relax? Get out. Get out of the car right now. Now.
00:19:45.840 This is not how you treat a vet. I'm actively serving this country and this is how you're going to treat me?
00:19:50.200 Back up, Daniel. I didn't do anything. Back up. Whoa, hold on. What's going on? Hold on.
00:19:54.740 Okay. Then he just pepper sprayed him. Like I said, there's a lot more to the video than that.
00:20:02.420 You know, that was as much as we can play on the show. So the officer there that pepper sprayed, Lieutenant Nazario, has been fired.
00:20:15.300 And already you could now, you watch video like that, especially just the clip we just played.
00:20:20.660 But even if you watch the entire video, you can go online and find it.
00:20:22.860 Again, you don't see what leads up to it. So there's still context missing.
00:20:29.920 But that's enough to say, okay, it appears the police officers are, number one, you got two problems.
00:20:36.920 Just as a non-expert, I'm looking at that. My immediate reaction is officers are being more aggressive than they need to be.
00:20:44.960 And they also seem to be, they're kind of contradicting each other.
00:20:48.080 Because the one officer is like reaching his hand in, is going to help the guy get out.
00:20:51.780 And the other one's saying, no, don't reach your hand in.
00:20:53.280 Like they can't even, they're not exactly on the same page. That's a problem.
00:20:56.540 And the other officer is saying stuff like, you know, you're fixing to ride the light, lightning sun.
00:21:03.440 I mean, come on.
00:21:05.660 It's like stuff that you say in an action movie, but you're a police officer.
00:21:09.260 Now, a guy named Zeke Arkham is also a police officer and a black man.
00:21:17.440 And he chimed in on this case.
00:21:20.260 And I thought what he had to say was, and this is always so incredible when you, on the rare occasion, when you get to hear something like this.
00:21:26.340 Because here is someone offering their perspective on a alleged police brutality incident.
00:21:33.600 And it's a balanced, reasonable, non-emotional perspective.
00:21:38.500 And I really appreciated it for that reason.
00:21:40.320 Let's listen to what he has to say.
00:21:41.320 What went wrong?
00:21:43.300 What went wrong was that the cops should not have given conflicting orders.
00:21:47.700 Usually before you go on patrol, you establish who the communication officer is.
00:21:52.360 And the other guy just kind of stands there looking good during the whole car stop or whatever has to go on.
00:21:57.780 Usually the better talker of the two is a communication officer.
00:22:01.340 What else went wrong?
00:22:02.600 From what I understand, the lieutenant drove for a mile after he was stopped.
00:22:08.140 After the cops initialed to him that they needed him to pull over to the side of the road.
00:22:13.020 That's not good.
00:22:14.280 That now makes the cops think that something is wrong.
00:22:17.240 And they're going to treat this now as a felony car stop, which is what you saw on the tape or the video.
00:22:23.840 What else went wrong?
00:22:25.180 Once you're pulled over, especially like that, all you do is follow instructions.
00:22:31.080 Now, if the cops say, put your hands outside the window, you put your hands outside the window.
00:22:34.500 If the cops say, exit the vehicle, you reach outside.
00:22:38.140 Grab your door handle and you exit the vehicle that way.
00:22:41.480 Okay, your seatbelt should already be off.
00:22:43.200 If it's not, you ask, can I take my seatbelt off?
00:22:46.140 I have my seatbelt on.
00:22:47.640 Okay, after that, you do what the cops say.
00:22:52.360 It's not the time to now start asking questions and demanding answers.
00:22:56.080 That's not what you should be doing, especially after driving an hour after the cops put their lights on.
00:23:02.040 That's not good.
00:23:02.880 Okay, what went wrong?
00:23:05.140 The cop at the end should not have said, don't report this because now it makes you seem like you're doing something wrong.
00:23:09.980 So, I mean, there was wrong on both parts, but there was more wrong on the lieutenant's part who thought that it was now his place to start checking the cops.
00:23:17.760 Amazing.
00:23:18.260 Amazing.
00:23:18.900 So, just looking at the situation, no bias going into it, wrong on both ends, a balanced, sensible, reasonable.
00:23:33.360 Now, this man, who's his name, Zeke Arkham, he knows more about police procedure than I do, certainly.
00:23:44.040 But even from my perspective, it makes a lot of sense what he had to say.
00:23:47.060 It makes a lot of sense.
00:23:49.060 It's just, it's so refreshing because you rarely hear that anymore about these kinds of incidents.
00:23:53.640 Because what happens is something like this occurs, and you have to, immediately, we stuff it into a certain narrative, and it can't, we can never have, you know, something happens, and it just happened, and that's it.
00:24:11.620 And it's an isolated incident, and you come to any conclusion you want to, and then you move on.
00:24:20.380 We can't do that anymore.
00:24:22.720 Everything that happens, especially if it's on camera and it involves police and a black man, everything that happens, it's a national crisis.
00:24:33.480 It's a symptom of some great, you know, some deep-seated problem.
00:24:41.620 And also, you have to put all the blame on one side or the other.
00:24:48.260 And usually, taking police out of it for a second, in most human interactions that turn hostile, most of the time, there's going to be some amount of blame on both sides.
00:25:03.800 Most of the time, it takes two to tango.
00:25:05.700 It doesn't, again, it doesn't matter if it's police, it involves the police or not.
00:25:13.240 If you're watching a video where interaction between two people escalates in this way, most of the time, it's not going to be only one party that is fully responsible.
00:25:26.360 So, I think that seems pretty reasonable.
00:25:30.880 And by the way, something not totally dissimilar to this actually has happened to me.
00:25:35.760 I wasn't pepper-sprayed by the police, but years ago, when I think I was probably 19 or 20 years old, I was driving along residential neighborhood.
00:25:44.440 I was getting pulled over for speeding, and I was speeding, I hate to admit.
00:25:49.520 And the cop, you know, they put the lights on, and it seemed to me, okay, we're on a residential road.
00:25:55.140 There's not much of a shoulder here.
00:25:57.680 And I knew, because I knew the road, I knew that like a mile or two up, there was a place where I could safely pull in.
00:26:04.380 And so, I made the stupid decision to keep on driving until I got to that spot.
00:26:09.320 And, of course, the cops are now thinking, why isn't this guy pulled over, just like we just heard in the video there.
00:26:13.660 Because the cop is thinking, okay, he's not pulling over, something is wrong.
00:26:16.460 He's going to try to run away, he's got drugs in the car, he's stashing, he's doing something.
00:26:21.140 Finally, I pull over, and the cop rolls up, and he's got another cop car coming behind him.
00:26:25.060 I guess he radioed for somebody.
00:26:26.620 And they pulled me out of the car, and it was a pretty scary situation for a few minutes,
00:26:32.180 because they didn't understand why I wasn't pulling over.
00:26:36.300 But as soon as they got out of the car and told me to get out of the car, I did, and I listened.
00:26:43.420 And then I was able to go home with just a speeding ticket, and I wasn't pepper sprayed.
00:26:49.540 All right.
00:26:52.900 Okay, let's move on to this.
00:26:54.540 Asa Hutchinson appeared on State of the Union to defend his pro-child castration position.
00:27:03.180 Now, already, we know he was on Tucker Carlson last week, and that did not go well for him at all.
00:27:09.320 And of course it's not going to go well for him.
00:27:11.860 He is, again, defending an indefensible position.
00:27:15.120 There is nothing that you can say in defense of it that will sound reasonable or moral.
00:27:22.600 But he can't get enough of it.
00:27:24.100 So here he is on cable news again, defending the same position, and he comes across as bad as he did before.
00:27:29.500 Let's listen.
00:27:30.500 Anytime you go against the grain, you're going to get that kind of blowback.
00:27:34.020 I think it's healthy for our society.
00:27:36.800 I think it's helpful for our party to have that kind of vigorous debate about an important issue.
00:27:42.200 And to me, this is about the future of our party.
00:27:46.520 Are we going to be a narrow party that expresses ourself in intolerant ways?
00:27:52.260 Or are we going to be a broad-based party that shows conservative principles, but also compassion
00:27:59.360 in dealing with some of the most difficult issues that parents face, that individuals face?
00:28:04.220 And at some point, I had to say, I've got to remind my wonderful Republican colleagues that we are the party of Ronald Reagan
00:28:14.200 that believes in a limited role of government.
00:28:17.220 And let's just ask that question.
00:28:19.380 Sure, I sign pro-life bills, and I know that there's a role for government even in the social issues,
00:28:25.980 but we have to fundamentally ask ourselves, do we need to do this?
00:28:30.520 Is there a better way?
00:28:31.760 Is this something that we need to leave to the hand in the home or in the church, our faith leaders to handle?
00:28:38.160 Is this calling out for a government solution?
00:28:40.340 We're fighting that in Washington.
00:28:42.360 Let's fight it also in our state capitals and fight for the principles of our party.
00:28:47.700 What a sniveling, repugnant snake this guy is.
00:28:54.200 Yeah, talking about compassion.
00:28:56.700 The only person he has compassion for, this is not compassion at all.
00:29:00.360 This is him being a whore for his corporate pimps.
00:29:04.360 That's what this really is.
00:29:05.880 Walmart, someone told him to take this position.
00:29:07.820 That's why he's taking it.
00:29:08.760 And now he's framing it as compassion.
00:29:10.840 Let me be the first to say, Asa, that I am fully intolerant of the castration of children.
00:29:22.280 I'm intolerant of all forms of child abuse, be it physical abuse, psychological, emotional.
00:29:30.460 And the thing is, what we're doing with kids with the gender stuff, that is all forms of abuse rolled into one.
00:29:36.220 And it's physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse, all rolled into one horrifying package.
00:29:43.340 And yeah, I'm intolerant of all of that.
00:29:46.720 Deeply intolerant of it.
00:29:49.680 There's certainly a place for intolerance, and that's the place.
00:29:57.040 If there's ever an occasion for the government to intervene, it would be with something like this.
00:30:03.340 And by the way, I don't care.
00:30:07.140 When it comes to the abuse of children, I don't care if the parents are okay.
00:30:14.320 Oftentimes, when a child is being abused, the parent is okay with the abuse because the parent is the one doing the abuse.
00:30:24.160 Does that make it more acceptable?
00:30:25.940 Does that mean we should butt out and mind our own business?
00:30:27.700 And if the doctors are involved in the abuse, it doesn't make a difference to me.
00:30:35.840 It only makes a difference in the sense that it makes the abuse so much worse.
00:30:41.440 And it gives us so much more cause for the government to get involved.
00:30:47.500 But I'm explaining all this, and Asa Hutchinson obviously knows that.
00:30:50.940 There's a reason why this guy, at the age of 70, has been in public life forever, like all these people have.
00:30:57.240 And he has, as far as I know, 70 years of life.
00:31:02.680 He has never once spoken out in favor of child castration until this past week.
00:31:09.760 Never indicated that he's in favor of it.
00:31:16.740 Never indicated his belief that, you know, a boy can have a little girl trapped inside him,
00:31:21.720 and the only way to set that inner girl free is to castrate the boy.
00:31:26.800 70 years of life, he never indicated that he believes that.
00:31:33.300 This is a sudden conversion experience.
00:31:36.720 His road to Damascus moment.
00:31:39.760 That he's experienced.
00:31:45.060 And we know that it's not because of self-reflection and prayer.
00:31:50.240 Unless he's praying to Satan, I don't know.
00:31:53.200 Number five, this is from the New York Post.
00:31:54.720 It says, at least 46% of Americans want to see Dwayne the Rock Johnson run for president.
00:31:59.880 A new poll is found.
00:32:02.280 More than 30,000 people were surveyed by,
00:32:05.780 Pip will say, for their take on celebrities, including Johnson and Matthew McConaughey.
00:32:09.760 Who may be interested in politics.
00:32:11.180 29% said they want to see both McConaughey and Johnson,
00:32:14.380 who are eyeing runs for Texas governor and U.S. president respectively, run for office.
00:32:17.620 Now, okay, 46% want to see the Rock run.
00:32:20.820 That doesn't mean that 46% said they'd vote for him.
00:32:22.820 They just want to see him run.
00:32:25.660 If I want to take the most optimistic interpretation of this poll,
00:32:30.060 maybe it's that people figure it'd be entertaining to have a guy like the Rock run for president.
00:32:34.180 And although they wouldn't really vote for him,
00:32:36.280 they'd like to see him in the mix for entertainment purposes.
00:32:42.760 Even that, I don't think is very justified because I think we need to get away from
00:32:46.200 seeing politics as a form of recreation and entertainment.
00:32:50.700 And actually approach the issue like adults.
00:32:57.660 But I know we're way past that.
00:32:59.540 So we're at a point now where
00:33:02.300 you probably need,
00:33:07.940 Joe Biden may be the last guy to be elected president
00:33:11.540 who does not have the celebrity factor.
00:33:13.120 We're probably at a point now where
00:33:15.900 you're not going to win unless you have the celebrity factor.
00:33:18.240 So
00:33:18.260 I think the Rock could win.
00:33:22.680 Assuming he runs it as a Democrat,
00:33:24.200 which I guess he would.
00:33:25.280 Oh, he certainly would run as a Democrat.
00:33:27.680 Obviously, all the leftists are going to vote for him
00:33:29.640 because he's running as a Democrat.
00:33:31.620 Could he siphon enough
00:33:32.980 so-called conservatives
00:33:34.360 who buy his whole
00:33:37.620 shtick on Instagram and everything
00:33:39.020 and his public persona?
00:33:41.740 Probably, yeah.
00:33:44.120 Finally, I want to play this,
00:33:45.380 just a little bonus content.
00:33:47.420 Brian Stelter on CNN.
00:33:51.140 Now, I never watch his show,
00:33:52.820 but every time I see a clip of his show online,
00:33:56.780 all he's ever doing is talking about Fox News.
00:34:00.420 So I, and I say this,
00:34:01.560 this is a sincere question.
00:34:03.620 Does he report on anything but
00:34:05.420 what Fox News personalities are doing?
00:34:08.860 He is like,
00:34:09.860 he's like the TMZ for Fox News personalities.
00:34:12.760 He's like the paparazzi for Tucker Carlson
00:34:14.800 and the rest of the bunch.
00:34:16.260 And so here he is taking issue
00:34:18.900 with Fox News personalities
00:34:20.640 for an especially stupid reason.
00:34:22.220 Let's listen.
00:34:22.580 It's really important to see all these TV anchors,
00:34:25.600 personalities showing themselves getting the shot.
00:34:28.680 We've seen a lot of vaccine selfies
00:34:30.500 from lots of folks
00:34:31.940 at lots of different networks.
00:34:33.800 It's been really inspiring to see.
00:34:35.620 You know, the Today Show
00:34:36.420 even brought the co-host outside
00:34:38.920 for a live group vaccination this week.
00:34:41.920 And Rachel Maddow on Friday on MSNBC
00:34:44.040 talked about how she was really fearful of the needle,
00:34:46.840 really worried about it.
00:34:48.880 And yet it was important to get the shot,
00:34:50.340 and she did,
00:34:50.980 and there she is talking about it on air.
00:34:52.760 So I say all of that to make the following point.
00:34:56.060 Where are Tucker and Sean Hannity and Laura Ingram?
00:34:58.760 Where is Ainsley Earhart and Steve Doocy
00:35:00.400 and Brian Kilmeade?
00:35:01.480 Where are the biggest stars on Fox getting vaccinated?
00:35:04.760 I get it's a personal choice.
00:35:06.440 I get that's between, you know,
00:35:08.160 the hosts and their healthcare provider.
00:35:10.860 But everybody else is doing it, right, Matt?
00:35:12.820 I mean, all across television,
00:35:13.940 all these anchors are rolling up their sleeves.
00:35:16.700 Why do you think we haven't seen
00:35:18.000 the biggest stars on Fox News get vaccinated
00:35:20.880 or show us their vaccine selfies?
00:35:25.620 Roll up your sleeves and take those selfies.
00:35:27.580 All right, let's get down to business.
00:35:28.580 Let's get down to work.
00:35:29.760 Roll up the sleeves.
00:35:30.580 Let's take some selfies.
00:35:31.640 All right?
00:35:32.260 That's your response.
00:35:32.940 But I get, I understand it's a personal choice,
00:35:35.720 but I am outraged
00:35:37.340 that you have not taken a picture of yourself
00:35:40.120 taking advantage of this personal choice
00:35:42.780 and posting it online.
00:35:44.340 I'm outraged by that.
00:35:46.360 It's a personal choice
00:35:47.140 between you and your healthcare provider,
00:35:48.760 but I demand to see pictures.
00:35:52.000 Hey, calm down, you weirdo.
00:35:55.180 He is actually angry
00:35:57.620 that he hasn't seen a picture
00:35:59.580 of Tucker Carlson getting a shot.
00:36:03.220 Is this some kind of weird fetish on his end?
00:36:05.500 I don't understand it at all.
00:36:09.140 But you see that right there, the screenshot.
00:36:12.200 Fox's biggest stars have not shared vaccine selfies.
00:36:14.960 I swear to you,
00:36:16.060 when I saw that screenshot online,
00:36:17.720 I thought it was a joke.
00:36:18.780 I really did.
00:36:21.180 I'm still, I can't help it.
00:36:23.600 I'm an optimist when it comes down to it.
00:36:26.260 I saw that screenshot.
00:36:27.340 I thought, no, come on.
00:36:29.500 They haven't gotten that stupid over there, have they?
00:36:31.440 No.
00:36:32.540 Nope.
00:36:34.540 My optimism misleads me yet again.
00:36:38.600 Story of my life.
00:36:39.620 All right, let's move on to reading the comments.
00:36:41.140 First comment says,
00:36:42.440 Teens themselves have been trying to get
00:36:43.860 James Charles deplatformed for months now,
00:36:46.320 but TikTok and other companies backing him
00:36:48.100 are actually deleting the post,
00:36:49.400 showing proof of his behavior.
00:36:51.140 Thanks for blasting this out for more people to see.
00:36:53.940 I got a lot of comments like those
00:36:55.480 and messages too from people saying
00:36:57.140 that a lot of teenagers in James Charles' audience
00:36:59.800 have been the ones calling attention
00:37:02.540 to his alleged preying on underage boys.
00:37:05.740 In this case, you have the big corporations
00:37:09.460 like TikTok and YouTube and his corporate sponsors
00:37:11.840 that are keeping him platformed in spite of that.
00:37:18.540 This is one case where a deplatforming campaign
00:37:21.500 is wholly justified and needed.
00:37:23.560 There's a lot of very good evidence,
00:37:27.240 including James Charles, as we played on Friday,
00:37:29.660 his own words,
00:37:31.300 confessing, for example,
00:37:32.360 that he's tried to fly high school boys out
00:37:34.660 to meet him, presumably for sex.
00:37:38.500 So there's a lot of that kind of thing.
00:37:41.980 Very good evidence that he is someone
00:37:43.860 who's at least attempting to prey on underage boys.
00:37:46.200 Yeah.
00:37:46.580 De-platform someone for that?
00:37:47.860 Yes.
00:37:48.600 Absolutely.
00:37:50.460 De-platform someone for sharing
00:37:52.800 controversial opinions?
00:37:54.660 No.
00:37:56.320 But if they're using their platform,
00:37:58.060 allegedly, to prey on children?
00:38:00.200 Yeah.
00:38:01.420 Definitely.
00:38:03.020 But of course, in our backwards world,
00:38:04.640 it's the opposite is how it works.
00:38:06.800 You can de-platform for the controversial opinions,
00:38:08.920 but if all you're doing is preying on underage children,
00:38:11.440 then you can keep your platform.
00:38:13.620 All right.
00:38:14.100 This is from S. Williams says,
00:38:15.520 no adult who has ever used the phrase
00:38:17.900 that's triggering unironically
00:38:20.780 should be taken seriously
00:38:21.800 for another moment in their entire life.
00:38:25.180 Yeah.
00:38:25.880 Well, of course.
00:38:27.660 Along with any adult that uses the word
00:38:29.500 lived experience.
00:38:31.000 I mean, there are a lot of phrases
00:38:32.160 and a lot of opinions, frankly,
00:38:33.780 that someone can share that,
00:38:35.380 although they have the right to share them,
00:38:37.740 means that I personally
00:38:39.320 can never take them seriously again.
00:38:43.240 Bex McKay says,
00:38:44.360 Matt's plan with the shirt
00:38:45.780 is to wear it out of spite
00:38:46.960 until the haters grow to genuinely love it,
00:38:48.940 and it's already working.
00:38:49.900 He's smarter than us all.
00:38:52.080 And Morgan says,
00:38:52.880 Matt Walsh's polka dot shirt
00:38:54.200 is to Julia Child's pearls.
00:38:56.380 Iconic.
00:38:57.840 You should probably invest
00:38:58.700 in a few more colors, Matt.
00:39:00.600 Well, I told you.
00:39:02.140 Joshua says,
00:39:02.840 I'm happy to see you are indeed
00:39:03.800 a man of your word
00:39:04.640 and wore your gentleman's blouse again.
00:39:08.300 Gentleman's blouse.
00:39:09.020 Don't take my laughter
00:39:12.840 as me approving of you
00:39:14.580 calling my shirt
00:39:16.580 a gentleman's blouse.
00:39:17.240 It is just a shirt.
00:39:19.180 Have you people
00:39:19.740 actually never seen
00:39:21.380 a shirt with dots on it?
00:39:26.000 It's, it's,
00:39:26.700 I don't do a lot of clothing shopping,
00:39:28.760 which maybe is,
00:39:29.680 is clear.
00:39:31.360 I think that that's
00:39:32.880 a pretty common pattern
00:39:34.000 to see on clothing,
00:39:34.860 even for men.
00:39:35.520 Am I wrong?
00:39:38.740 In any case,
00:39:39.540 I promised I'd wear it
00:39:40.260 once a week
00:39:40.640 and I will certainly do that.
00:39:43.060 Krish the Neat says,
00:39:45.040 Fa'a fa'fines
00:39:46.700 are a real thing in Samoa
00:39:48.300 and quite common.
00:39:49.380 It means,
00:39:49.960 in the way of the woman.
00:39:51.200 I lived there as a kid
00:39:52.340 and will always remember
00:39:53.240 the huge guy
00:39:53.960 in a muumuu named Rosie.
00:39:56.240 He ran the motel
00:39:57.160 where we were staying,
00:39:58.200 staying in and dressed
00:39:59.380 like a woman with makeup
00:40:00.300 and a long braid.
00:40:01.640 He also had a wife and kids.
00:40:04.540 Well,
00:40:04.900 and there you go.
00:40:05.800 So,
00:40:06.380 what you're saying there
00:40:08.260 proves my point
00:40:09.220 that I made on Friday.
00:40:11.160 You may have,
00:40:12.340 in other cultures,
00:40:13.440 people who
00:40:14.080 break the gender barriers
00:40:16.060 and so on,
00:40:17.240 so-called,
00:40:17.940 quote-unquote,
00:40:18.280 non-binary people.
00:40:20.140 But,
00:40:21.120 the guy wearing the muumuu
00:40:22.600 named Rosie
00:40:23.440 with a wife and kids,
00:40:26.480 right,
00:40:26.720 correct me if I'm wrong,
00:40:27.440 he's not actually claiming
00:40:28.500 that he literally
00:40:29.220 is a woman.
00:40:31.720 He may be
00:40:32.520 dressing the part,
00:40:33.680 but there's no confusion
00:40:35.600 about what he actually
00:40:36.680 is biologically.
00:40:39.900 We,
00:40:40.320 we in the West
00:40:41.160 are unique
00:40:42.020 in that confusion.
00:40:43.660 And that's the point
00:40:44.380 that we were making.
00:40:45.400 You know,
00:40:45.660 you can always tell
00:40:46.280 when someone
00:40:46.760 didn't get a good night's sleep,
00:40:48.260 they got the bags
00:40:48.900 under the eyes,
00:40:49.660 they look gross
00:40:50.880 and tired.
00:40:51.840 I don't know why
00:40:52.200 that grosses me out,
00:40:52.880 but it does.
00:40:53.880 But even worse than that,
00:40:54.820 you can tell when someone else
00:40:55.820 didn't get a good night's sleep,
00:40:56.580 but when you yourself
00:40:57.900 are experiencing that,
00:40:58.860 it just,
00:40:59.200 it can kind of ruin
00:40:59.840 the entire day.
00:41:01.160 Why go through that
00:41:02.240 if you don't have to?
00:41:03.600 And if you get a Helix mattress,
00:41:05.220 then that means
00:41:05.900 you don't have to experience
00:41:06.760 bad sleep ever again.
00:41:07.700 Helix Sleep has a quiz
00:41:08.580 that takes just two minutes
00:41:09.480 to complete
00:41:09.880 and matches your body type
00:41:10.920 and sleep preferences
00:41:11.460 to the perfect mattress for you.
00:41:13.140 If you like a mattress
00:41:13.800 that's really soft or firm,
00:41:15.140 if you sleep on your side
00:41:15.980 or your back,
00:41:16.380 no matter how you sleep,
00:41:17.260 no matter what your preferences are,
00:41:18.680 they've got something
00:41:19.340 that is made just for you.
00:41:21.100 You don't need to take
00:41:21.720 their word for it.
00:41:22.480 Helix was awarded
00:41:23.080 the number one

00:42:28.640 Let's get now
00:42:29.060 to our daily cancellation.
00:42:33.500 For our daily cancellation
00:42:34.440 on this Monday,
00:42:35.580 we revisit the subject
00:42:36.980 of fat acceptance
00:42:38.160 and body positivity.
00:42:39.900 This is a topic
00:42:40.460 which has popped up
00:42:41.340 several times
00:42:41.880 during this particular segment,
00:42:43.980 daily cancellation.
00:42:45.280 You might even say
00:42:46.140 that it weighs heavily
00:42:46.980 on my mind.
00:42:47.960 What brings it up today
00:42:48.820 are the slew of articles
00:42:50.240 preemptively condemning
00:42:51.680 anyone who shames
00:42:52.920 anyone else
00:42:53.640 over their weight gain
00:42:54.780 during the COVID lockdowns.
00:42:56.680 The media is anticipating
00:42:57.880 that millions of Americans
00:42:59.140 are going to emerge
00:43:00.020 from their cocoons
00:43:00.900 this summer
00:43:01.420 like bulbous,
00:43:03.080 flightless butterflies,
00:43:05.160 their time in lockdown
00:43:06.100 having transformed them
00:43:07.320 from overweight
00:43:08.100 to even more overweight.
00:43:10.200 But we are warned,
00:43:11.780 do not shame anyone for this.
00:43:14.320 It's not their fault.
00:43:16.260 The Daily Beast
00:43:16.780 has an article
00:43:17.360 from Elena
00:43:18.360 Demopoulos.
00:43:21.900 That's how you pronounce
00:43:22.640 the last name.
00:43:23.480 It's titled
00:43:23.900 Our Bodies Emerge
00:43:25.040 from Lockdown
00:43:25.700 to a Fat-Shaming Chorus.
00:43:27.760 Ignore it.
00:43:29.040 And she says,
00:43:29.580 quote,
00:43:30.140 If you want to lose
00:43:30.820 the quarantine 15,
00:43:32.000 that's okay.
00:43:32.680 And if you don't
00:43:33.280 or can't,
00:43:33.860 that's okay too.
00:43:35.140 Find the best way
00:43:36.040 to exercise
00:43:36.540 that works for you.
00:43:38.460 Later in the article
00:43:39.260 in an especially revealing passage,
00:43:40.800 she quotes Amy Conway,
00:43:42.060 who is the editor-in-chief
00:43:42.900 of Health Magazine.
00:43:44.380 And she says,
00:43:45.040 quote,
00:43:45.200 A lot of people
00:43:45.800 have been sedentary
00:43:46.760 and there are concerns
00:43:47.860 about going back to work
00:43:48.900 that might feel more winded
00:43:50.540 going up a flight of stairs.
00:43:52.620 So moving your body
00:43:53.720 throughout the day
00:43:54.480 is certainly something
00:43:55.860 we'll encourage.
00:43:56.820 It's not about
00:43:57.400 how to lose
00:43:58.000 the quarantine 15.
00:43:59.180 It's about making people
00:44:00.500 feel good.
00:44:01.840 That's all that matters.
00:44:03.440 Slate has a similar diatribe.
00:44:04.940 This one titled
00:44:05.540 How to Survive
00:44:07.040 Post-Pandemic
00:44:07.940 Weight Loss Pressure.
00:44:09.540 The article written
00:44:10.500 is written by
00:44:11.320 a Rebecca Onion.
00:44:13.340 And no,
00:44:13.520 I'm not sure why
00:44:13.980 the ladies at the Daily Beast
00:44:14.940 and Slate
00:44:15.340 all have names
00:44:15.940 that sound made up,
00:44:16.880 but Miss Onion
00:44:17.420 lectures the reader
00:44:18.840 not to post about
00:44:19.740 their workout routines
00:44:20.640 or their weight loss strategies
00:44:22.220 because then your social media
00:44:23.740 followers who prefer
00:44:24.580 to be lazy bastards,
00:44:25.740 my words,
00:44:26.240 not hers,
00:44:26.960 might feel bad.
00:44:28.500 And remember,
00:44:29.480 as we learned
00:44:29.800 from the Daily Beast,
00:44:30.440 this is all about
00:44:31.040 making people feel good.
00:44:32.060 That's all that matters.
00:44:33.660 By the way,
00:44:34.240 if you're wondering,
00:44:34.900 the experts agree.
00:44:36.640 Which experts?
00:44:37.660 Doesn't matter.
00:44:38.820 We've learned that too.
00:44:39.620 The experts have spoken.
00:44:40.720 Doesn't matter.
00:44:41.320 You don't need to know
00:44:41.880 the details,
00:44:42.820 but the experts have said this.
00:44:43.980 The website
00:44:44.920 VeryWellHealth.com
00:44:46.500 has this headline,
00:44:48.260 quote,
00:44:48.820 Experts,
00:44:49.840 stop making people feel bad
00:44:51.440 about COVID weight gain.
00:44:54.400 We need the experts
00:44:55.380 to tell us
00:44:55.820 don't make people feel bad.
00:44:56.980 This one is written
00:44:57.580 by Carla Delgado,
00:44:58.760 who is at least
00:44:59.440 appears to be a real person
00:45:00.660 based on her name.
00:45:01.440 Now,
00:45:01.540 I must admit
00:45:02.060 off the bat
00:45:03.100 that I can't relate
00:45:05.160 to any of this content.
00:45:06.940 First of all,
00:45:07.700 I've personally
00:45:08.320 been out of lockdown
00:45:09.200 since March.
00:45:10.060 By that,
00:45:10.420 I mean March of 2020.
00:45:12.160 I never really
00:45:12.960 entered into lockdown
00:45:14.100 except to the extent
00:45:14.920 that I was forced to
00:45:15.700 when everything around me
00:45:16.780 shut down.
00:45:17.740 But even when everything
00:45:18.600 was shut down,
00:45:19.520 we were still very active
00:45:20.900 in my family.
00:45:22.800 More active than we'd ever been,
00:45:24.180 if anything,
00:45:24.620 because there wasn't
00:45:25.100 much else to do
00:45:25.700 besides run around outside,
00:45:26.880 go for hikes,
00:45:27.380 go for walks,
00:45:27.800 and all that kind of thing.
00:45:28.840 That's why my wife and I
00:45:30.140 both emerged
00:45:30.880 from this past year
00:45:31.780 in very good physical shape.
00:45:33.800 Now,
00:45:34.200 I realized that my bragging
00:45:35.520 about my own fitness,
00:45:36.960 that by doing that,
00:45:38.360 I just did the very thing
00:45:39.220 that Slate and the Daily Beast
00:45:40.180 warned me not to do.
00:45:42.280 So,
00:45:42.780 why did I do it?
00:45:44.480 Well,
00:45:44.900 because they told me
00:45:45.680 not to do it,
00:45:46.800 and also because
00:45:47.580 I'm not going to be made
00:45:48.400 to feel embarrassed
00:45:49.320 and ashamed
00:45:50.340 of being physically healthy,
00:45:52.500 because that's insane.
00:45:54.920 You know,
00:45:55.280 in my life,
00:45:56.000 like most people,
00:45:56.740 I've been out of shape
00:45:57.660 and I've been in shape.
00:45:59.700 And,
00:46:00.120 I mean,
00:46:00.360 I'm always some kind of shape,
00:46:01.900 just not one that I prefer
00:46:02.860 all the time.
00:46:03.920 And I always felt embarrassed
00:46:05.140 about being out of shape,
00:46:06.620 not about being in shape.
00:46:08.460 That's how it should be.
00:46:10.240 And why is it?
00:46:11.040 Because I was out of shape
00:46:11.860 because I was lazy.
00:46:12.720 It's embarrassing to be lazy.
00:46:14.760 A person ought to be
00:46:15.580 embarrassed by that.
00:46:16.680 They shouldn't dwell
00:46:17.480 in that embarrassment.
00:46:18.260 They shouldn't stew in it,
00:46:19.280 wallow in it.
00:46:20.400 I'm not recommending
00:46:21.060 depression and self-loathing
00:46:22.400 as a strategy.
00:46:23.000 I'm recommending
00:46:23.440 that people simply confront
00:46:24.520 the reality
00:46:25.420 of their own personal situation,
00:46:27.540 admit that it's not ideal
00:46:29.120 to be overweight,
00:46:30.200 admit that they have
00:46:30.860 control over it,
00:46:32.040 and then take control
00:46:33.780 and change it.
00:46:35.960 See,
00:46:36.240 the problem is that
00:46:37.040 the body positivity mentality
00:46:39.760 precludes people
00:46:41.920 from trying to change
00:46:42.860 the things
00:46:43.340 they don't like
00:46:44.180 about themselves.
00:46:45.340 And that fact points
00:46:46.660 to the glaring self-contradiction
00:46:48.300 in this whole mindset.
00:46:50.540 It's a contradiction
00:46:51.380 that has, of course,
00:46:51.920 been in evidence
00:46:53.180 for a long time,
00:46:54.620 long before the pandemic.
00:46:55.580 For example,
00:46:56.420 here's a clip from a show
00:46:57.520 on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
00:46:59.100 It just went viral
00:47:00.020 over the past couple of weeks,
00:47:00.880 but it originally aired
00:47:02.160 I think in 2019.
00:47:04.300 So here's an overweight woman
00:47:05.600 explaining how
00:47:06.540 it's not her fault
00:47:07.360 that she's overweight
00:47:08.080 because racism
00:47:09.100 did it to her.
00:47:10.180 Let's watch.
00:47:11.180 You can't get access
00:47:12.380 to good health care,
00:47:13.380 good insurance.
00:47:14.460 The research says
00:47:15.620 that black women,
00:47:16.880 when we do the same diets
00:47:18.400 as white women,
00:47:19.360 we lose less weight
00:47:21.000 and we lose it slower,
00:47:22.860 even when we're following
00:47:24.000 the diet
00:47:24.520 than our white women
00:47:25.320 counterparts.
00:47:26.780 And what public health
00:47:28.160 practitioners think
00:47:29.120 is that our stress responses
00:47:30.960 in the body
00:47:31.820 change our metabolism.
00:47:34.240 It's literally that
00:47:35.700 the racism
00:47:36.840 that you're experiencing
00:47:38.440 and the struggle
00:47:39.820 to make ends meet
00:47:41.120 actually means
00:47:42.460 the diet don't work
00:47:43.780 for you the same.
00:47:47.480 I mean,
00:47:48.180 we've made everything else racist.
00:47:49.280 Why not make carbs
00:47:50.040 and calories racist too?
00:47:51.920 But whether racism
00:47:52.760 is the lame excuse
00:47:53.600 for gaining weight
00:47:54.440 or it's the pandemic
00:47:55.420 or whatever else
00:47:57.440 we come up with
00:47:58.220 so that we can avoid
00:47:59.100 going for a jog
00:48:00.020 because that's really
00:48:00.880 what all this is about,
00:48:03.460 the whole body positivity
00:48:04.680 movement is just
00:48:05.420 one long way around
00:48:07.420 having to go for a jog.
00:48:10.160 But whatever the excuse is,
00:48:11.680 the fact is
00:48:12.440 that we're making excuses.
00:48:14.880 And that's interesting,
00:48:15.760 isn't it?
00:48:17.060 Because we are both
00:48:18.280 making excuses
00:48:19.300 for weight gain
00:48:20.180 and going to great lengths
00:48:22.060 to make sure
00:48:22.520 that people don't feel bad
00:48:23.960 about their weight gain.
00:48:25.300 And yet at the same time,
00:48:26.980 the body positivity movement
00:48:28.400 tells us that we should
00:48:29.220 be proud of our bodies
00:48:30.360 no matter their shape,
00:48:32.160 no matter how many
00:48:32.940 extra pounds of lard
00:48:34.080 may be dropped,
00:48:34.760 draped over them.
00:48:35.720 We should celebrate
00:48:37.040 our fatness,
00:48:38.100 not our fitness,
00:48:38.920 we're told.
00:48:40.420 So then which is it?
00:48:43.280 You know,
00:48:43.740 if you ought to be proud
00:48:44.860 of your fat body,
00:48:45.880 then why are you
00:48:46.800 making excuses
00:48:47.520 for the fact that it's fat?
00:48:49.100 It seems like an oddly
00:48:50.140 schizophrenic message.
00:48:51.900 If you're declaring,
00:48:52.940 well,
00:48:53.360 fat is beautiful,
00:48:54.320 I'm so proud of it,
00:48:55.200 and also it isn't my fault
00:48:56.420 that I'm like this,
00:48:57.040 don't blame me.
00:48:58.860 This is a case of having
00:49:00.060 the cake and eating it too,
00:49:01.140 which ironically is also
00:49:02.060 how you put the extra pounds on.
00:49:03.580 Point being,
00:49:04.720 you really have to choose,
00:49:05.800 right?
00:49:06.760 Either obesity is a disease,
00:49:08.620 an affliction,
00:49:09.560 something that has befallen you
00:49:11.140 by pure happenstance
00:49:12.280 and misfortune,
00:49:13.100 or it's something beautiful
00:49:15.780 and powerful
00:49:16.360 and worth celebrating.
00:49:17.660 It can't really be both.
00:49:20.660 I mean,
00:49:21.060 let's think of an example.
00:49:22.220 We would all agree
00:49:22.860 that bone cancer,
00:49:24.140 for instance,
00:49:24.740 is an affliction,
00:49:25.700 a disease,
00:49:26.240 a terrible misfortune.
00:49:27.560 But we would also agree
00:49:28.780 that we don't call it beautiful.
00:49:30.860 We don't celebrate it.
00:49:32.900 Neither would we say
00:49:33.720 that a person with cancer
00:49:34.500 should be ashamed,
00:49:35.360 obviously,
00:49:35.660 but we do recognize it
00:49:36.820 as a bad thing
00:49:37.840 and something that,
00:49:39.080 if we can,
00:49:39.660 we want to stop,
00:49:41.060 get rid of,
00:49:42.180 prevent.
00:49:42.600 Ultimately,
00:49:42.960 we want to cure it.
00:49:43.960 Cancer is bad.
00:49:45.080 We want to destroy cancer.
00:49:46.840 There's no controversy
00:49:47.680 about that.
00:49:49.360 With obesity,
00:49:50.300 there should also be
00:49:51.000 no controversy.
00:49:51.660 It's a bad thing.
00:49:52.700 In many cases,
00:49:53.220 it's a fatal thing.
00:49:54.640 We should want
00:49:55.460 to get rid of it.
00:49:57.300 Fortunately,
00:49:57.800 getting rid of obesity
00:49:58.500 is a thousand times easier
00:50:00.020 than getting rid of cancer.
00:50:01.400 All you have to do
00:50:02.200 in the majority of cases
00:50:03.600 is eat less
00:50:04.580 and exercise more.
00:50:05.340 For almost every
00:50:06.140 overweight person
00:50:06.900 on the planet
00:50:07.640 and throughout history,
00:50:09.140 in almost every case,
00:50:10.920 that is enough
00:50:11.740 to solve the problem.
00:50:12.480 It is a very simple solution.
00:50:13.820 I didn't say an easy solution,
00:50:14.940 a simple one.
00:50:15.560 The only thing
00:50:18.040 that makes obesity
00:50:18.860 confusing and controversial
00:50:20.340 is that the body
00:50:21.800 positivity movement
00:50:22.580 can't figure out
00:50:23.400 its own position
00:50:24.460 on the subject.
00:50:26.140 They want us to both
00:50:27.160 pity the obese
00:50:28.120 for their obesity
00:50:28.980 and also celebrate
00:50:30.100 the obese
00:50:30.580 for their obesity.
00:50:32.540 But you see,
00:50:33.160 a trait cannot be
00:50:34.400 both pitiful
00:50:35.240 and praiseworthy.
00:50:36.980 It can't be a disease
00:50:38.460 and beautiful.
00:50:40.060 What kind of thing
00:50:40.740 is that to say?
00:50:41.280 What is it,
00:50:41.540 a beautiful disease?
00:50:42.400 You have to choose
00:50:44.640 between the two.
00:50:46.540 It's either beautiful
00:50:47.220 or it's a disease.
00:50:49.660 We should either celebrate it
00:50:50.880 or it's not your fault,
00:50:52.000 it's a terrible thing
00:50:52.500 that happened to you.
00:50:53.720 One or the other.
00:50:55.260 Now, personally,
00:50:55.940 between the two options,
00:50:57.640 I would hope you choose
00:50:59.440 the woe is me,
00:51:00.340 it's not my fault,
00:51:01.220 it's because of racism,
00:51:02.180 it's because of the pandemic
00:51:02.880 approach.
00:51:04.640 What you just heard there
00:51:05.560 in the video clip,
00:51:07.480 I'd prefer that.
00:51:08.620 Go with that.
00:51:10.040 Because at least
00:51:10.900 then you're admitting
00:51:11.560 that obesity is a bad thing.
00:51:13.380 A thing we should want
00:51:14.300 to get rid of,
00:51:15.060 not embrace.
00:51:16.960 That's not much,
00:51:17.800 but it's a start.
00:51:18.580 We can work with that.
00:51:20.260 Now it's just a matter
00:51:21.100 of getting you to accept
00:51:21.940 a little bit of
00:51:22.500 personal accountability
00:51:23.960 and you can start
00:51:26.060 by being accountable
00:51:26.700 for the fact
00:51:27.280 that you are
00:51:28.060 today canceled.
00:51:31.820 And we'll leave it there
00:51:32.600 for today.
00:51:33.480 Thanks for watching,
00:51:34.060 thanks for listening.
00:51:34.820 Have a great day.
