The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 780 - Bank Of America Thinks Your Toddler Is Racist

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Walsh Show, Bank of America is the latest major corporation to institute a radical

00:00:04.860 racial re-education program for its employees, and this is perhaps the worst one yet. Also, 0.61

00:00:09.860 American citizens in Afghanistan, according to a report, have to pay for the privilege of being

00:00:13.480 evacuated from their country, and Jamaicans protest the U.S. Embassy for flying a pride flag,

00:00:18.620 which is pretty great. Also, the social media mob digs up dirt on the new Jeopardy host for

00:00:23.360 some reason, because of course we've got to find some dirt on him. And in our Daily Cancellation,

00:00:26.580 we'll discuss Mark Zuckerberg's plan to turn Facebook into a virtual reality experience.

00:00:31.740 It's pretty horrifying. All of that and more today on the Matt Walsh Show.

00:02:08.360 ago, I was in my car shouting at my dashboard, filming a show that 12 people were listening to.

00:02:13.320 Six of them were in my family. But today, last I checked, we've climbed into the top 40 among all

00:02:19.320 podcasts just on Apple Podcasts alone. We're top 10 in our category. We've also had incredible growth

00:02:23.880 on YouTube, Spotify, all other platforms. All this to say, thank you for making this happen. And also,

00:02:28.920 I am not satisfied. I want more. My theocratic fascist takeover hasn't even begun, really. So

00:02:35.300 please, if you haven't yet, subscribe on Apple Podcasts, on YouTube, or both, or wherever,

00:02:41.040 whatever platform you like. Share with your friends. Tell the world our mission is not finished

00:02:45.940 yet. All right. As, you know, the conversation continues to revolve around the crisis in

00:02:50.080 Afghanistan, and perhaps we'll remain focused there for the foreseeable future, it'll be even 0.97

00:02:55.300 easier now for the most powerful corporations in our country to get away with imposing their

00:02:59.700 far-left Marxist agenda. They were already having little trouble in that regard, but at least sometimes

00:03:05.320 they would face public criticism. Criticism significant enough in some cases to convince them to change

00:03:09.880 course. I mean, when Coca-Cola instated a racial indoctrination program, they were eventually

00:03:15.220 forced to put it on pause, pause, quote unquote, as they say, and their top lawyer resigned in disgrace

00:03:21.560 following this massive backlash from the public. Now, Coca-Cola will find other ways, I'm sure,

00:03:27.480 to enact their agenda, but it's good that they were held to account for whatever it's ultimately worth.

00:03:32.500 Bank of America, on the other hand, has had the good fortune of having its own radical woke agenda

00:03:37.460 exposed while everyone's attention is focused on a country 7,000 miles away. But as this report from

00:03:43.240 journalist Chris Ruffo exposes, their racial re-education program is among the most aggressive

00:03:49.340 and malignant that we have seen. Reading now from the City Journal, it says,

00:03:56.800 Bank of America Corporation has implemented a racial re-education program that claims the United States

00:04:02.980 is a system of white supremacy and encourages employees to become woke at work, instructing

00:04:08.400 white employees in particular to decolonize their minds and cede power to people of color. 0.91

00:04:14.540 Earlier this year, Bank of America's North Carolina and Charlotte market president Charles Bowman

00:04:19.100 announced a new equity initiative called United in Action in partnership with the United Way of

00:04:24.900 Central Carolinas. According to documents I have obtained from a whistleblower, this is Chris Ruffo

00:04:29.440 talking. BOA executives launched the initiative by encouraging employees to participate in their

00:04:35.340 racial equity 21-day challenge, a race training program funded in part by the bank and built on

00:04:41.940 the principles of critical race theory, including intersectionality, white privilege, white fragility,

00:04:46.240 and systemic racism. Now, before we go any further, I think it's worth referring back again to the

00:04:52.940 U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which describes unlawful workplace harassment. And here's what

00:04:58.700 they say. Harassment is a form of employment discrimination that violates Title VII of the

00:05:03.620 Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and the American with

00:05:09.040 Disabilities Act of 1990. Harassment is unwelcome conduct that is based on race, color, religion,

00:05:13.740 sex, national origin, older age, beginning at age 40, disability, or genetic information. Harassment

00:05:21.240 becomes unlawful where, one, enduring the offensive conduct becomes a condition of continued

00:05:26.540 employment. Or, two, the conduct is severe or pervasive enough to create a work environment that

00:05:31.520 a reasonable person would consider intimidating, hostile, or abusive. Now, all of these racial 1.00

00:05:38.020 indoctrination programs are, for this reason, blatantly illegal. Clear violations of the Civil Rights

00:05:44.040 Act. Employees are being singled out by race, labeled in negative ways based on their race, and often

00:05:51.660 these sessions are mandatory. Even when they're not mandatory, they still create an environment that is

00:05:56.080 clearly intimidating and abusive. When you're pointing to certain employees by race and saying

00:06:04.040 they're privileged, they're racist, they're this and that. There's a reason why employees leak these

00:06:09.700 materials to the media. Because they feel that this is a hostile environment, and it's an intimidating

00:06:14.480 environment. An abusive environment. None of this even so much as pretends to be legal. Yet, companies do

00:06:22.620 it anyway, in part because few of the workers subjected to this stuff ever decide to actually

00:06:27.600 sue. So, let's go back to the report for more details. It gets worse. It says, on the program's

00:06:33.220 first day, Bank of America teaches employees that the United States is a racialized society that uses

00:06:38.560 race to establish and justify systems of power, privilege, disenfranchisement, and oppression,

00:06:44.120 which, quote, gives privileges to white people resulting in disadvantages to people of color.

00:06:48.240 According to the training program, all whites, regardless of one's socioeconomic class, background,

00:06:53.360 or other disadvantages, are living a life with white skin privileges. Even children are implicated 0.87

00:07:00.060 in the system of white supremacy. According to the program materials, white toddlers develop racial

00:07:04.740 biases by ages three to five and should be actively taught to recognize and reject the smog of 0.97

00:07:11.820 white privilege. It goes on to say, over the next three days, Bank of America teaches employees

00:07:16.060 about intersectionality, unconscious bias, microaggressions, and systemic racism. The

00:07:21.760 program asserts, quote, racism in America idolizes white physical features and white values as supreme

00:07:26.720 over those of others. As a result of being part of the dominant culture, whites are more likely to

00:07:31.860 have more limited imagination, more likely to experience fear, anxiety, guilt, or shame, more likely to

00:07:38.420 contribute to racial tension, hatred, and violence in our homes, communities, and the world,

00:07:42.380 subsequently to react in broken ways as a result. People of color, on the other hand, cannot be 1.00

00:07:50.040 racist because racism is used to justify the position of the dominant group and to uphold

00:07:54.020 white supremacy and superiority. Therefore, the discussion guide claims reverse racism and

00:07:58.940 discrimination are not possible. Okay, so nothing to see here. No problem, really. Just the second

00:08:05.240 largest bank in the country with $2 trillion in assets instructing its employees that members of a

00:08:10.920 certain race are fearful, hateful, violent, lack imagination, and give birth to children who become 1.00

00:08:17.580 bigots themselves by the age of three. And it's only white children who are bigots. Who could object to 1.00

00:08:24.280 that? Well, not many people have objected to this, as it turns out. The American Bar Association certainly

00:08:30.240 doesn't object, as another report also from this week reveals. This is from the Washington Free Beacon.

00:08:35.080 Again, this is all just from this week. It says, the American Bar Association is poised to mandate

00:08:39.500 diversity training and affirmative action at all of its accredited law schools. A move top legal scholars

00:08:44.280 say could jeopardize academic freedom and force schools to violate federal law. The association, which

00:08:49.040 accredits nearly every law school in the United States, is mulling a plan that would require schools to provide

00:08:53.540 education to law students on bias, cross-cultural competency, and racism, including a mandatory ethics course

00:09:00.540 instructing students that they have an obligation to fight racism in the law. Schools would also be required to take

00:09:05.900 effective actions to diversify their student bodies, even when doing so risks violating a law that

00:09:11.640 purports to prohibit consideration of race or ethnicity. Now, I go back now to that Bank of America

00:09:17.580 discussion, the discussion guide, which made the familiar claim that reverse racism and reverse

00:09:24.020 discrimination do not exist. Now, they're correct, of course, but not for the reason they think. There is

00:09:29.220 no reverse racism. There's just racism. Just like there's no such thing as reverse hatred or reverse

00:09:35.480 jealousy. There's just hatred and jealousy. A racist black person is not reverse racist. He's simply

00:09:43.640 racist. But Bank of America, remaining dutifully orthodox and loyal to the CRT cult, says that 0.86

00:09:50.000 there cannot be a racist black person. Why is that? Because racism is a tool of the dominant group. 0.96

00:09:54.840 You have to have institutional power in order to be racist. And black people have no institutional 1.00

00:10:00.640 power, they say. And yet, even if I agreed with that definition of racism, which I don't because 0.95

00:10:05.960 it's fabricated and ridiculous, yet still, this is Bank of America we're talking about. 0.71

00:10:13.520 Among the racial indoctrination programs that have been exposed just this week, we have one of the 0.95

00:10:19.560 largest banks in the country and the American Bar Association. Bankers and lawyers. Can you get more

00:10:27.320 institutionally powerful than that? The bankers and lawyers are condemning whitey. So are the big tech 0.98

00:10:34.560 companies, almost all the major corporations, Hollywood, media, academia, the government.

00:10:39.940 So when you hear that the institutions of power are racist against minorities,

00:10:44.440 understand that the person making that claim is referring to the institutions of power

00:10:50.340 aside from literally all of the institutions of power. Because all of the institutions of power

00:10:56.700 are fully on the side of the person making that claim to begin with. The racial warriors on the left 0.56

00:11:02.660 are the system. I mean, they are the man. Now, I think a good rule of thumb is this.

00:11:09.060 You are not a counterculture radical if you're preaching the same thing that's preached in Bank

00:11:16.300 of America, you know, HR seminars. Pretty good indication. If what you're saying is indistinguishable

00:11:24.840 from what you would hear in an HR seminar at Bank of America, then you're certainly not

00:11:29.980 counterculture. Generally speaking, if nearly all of the richest and most powerful people and

00:11:34.980 institutions in the country agree with you and you agree with them, then you may be right or you

00:11:42.100 may be wrong. You're wrong in this case. But whatever you are, you certainly are anything but

00:11:46.760 a rebel. Hopefully we could agree at least with that. Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:11:58.480 Well, gee, you know, one thing I hate, you know what I hate doing more than anything in the world?

00:12:01.860 I hate going to the auto parts store. I don't know if I've ever mentioned this to you before,

00:12:05.460 but I think I mentioned many times because I just hate, I hate going into the auto parts store.

00:12:09.820 There's something about it because it's hot out. And also you walk into the auto parts store and I

00:12:15.100 don't know anything about what I'm doing there. So they start asking me a bunch of questions.

00:12:18.800 I don't know the answers to the questions. Very embarrassing. I run out crying. It's happened

00:12:21.560 so many times. This is why I just stick with rockauto.com. Rockauto.com is so much easier than

00:12:26.520 walking into a store and having to answer all of those questions. Rockauto.com always offers the lowest

00:12:31.780 price as possible rather than changing prices based on what the market will bear. Why spend,

00:12:36.700 you know, twice as much on the same product? You spend twice as much for a more limited

00:12:41.400 selection of products. Why do that when you can just go to rockauto.com? They're a family business.

00:12:46.480 They've been serving auto parts customers online for 20 years. Go to rockauto.com right now to shop

00:12:50.900 for auto and body parts from hundreds of manufacturers. The catalog is unique and remarkably easy

00:12:55.560 to navigate. Quickly see all the parts available for your vehicle and choose the brands and

00:12:59.840 specifications. Prices you prefer. So go to rockauto.com right now. See all the parts available

00:13:03.760 for your car or truck. Write Walsh in there. How did you hear about us, Bok? So they know that we sent

00:13:07.080 you. So we'll start here back to Afghanistan, or at least the people who are trying to escape 1.00

00:13:13.060 Afghanistan. This is from the Daily Wire. It says, according to a report from the Daily Caller News

00:13:16.140 Foundation, the Biden administration is continuing to tell Americans trapped in Afghanistan that if they

00:13:20.840 want to be evacuated out of the country, they have to pay a cost that could exceed $2,000.

00:13:26.620 And this comes hours after a spokesperson for the State Department told the media otherwise.

00:13:31.940 So for the privilege of being evacuated from that hellhole, you have to actually pay $2,000 or more.

00:13:41.520 The Daily Caller News Foundation did some digging into the online forms that individuals are required

00:13:46.180 to fill out if they want to secure a spot on the repatriation flight. The form requires users to

00:13:51.180 select, I understand and wish to continue with this request for the following two questions.

00:13:55.680 One, repatriation flights are not free. All passengers will need to reimburse the U.S.

00:14:02.060 government for the flight. A promissory note for the full cost of the flight, which may exceed $2,000

00:14:07.260 per person, must be signed by each adult passenger before boarding. And also loan repayment. While my

00:14:13.940 passport will not be canceled, U.S. citizens who have signed a loan agreement for repatriation may not be

00:14:19.100 eligible for a new passport until the loan is repaid. So the federal government, as it stands

00:14:26.380 right now, according to this report, they're not willing to spring for the $2,000 to get these

00:14:32.160 American citizens out of the country. If they even get them out of the country to begin with, 1.00

00:14:36.400 because let's keep in mind, the first part of that trip is they're on their own for. To get to the

00:14:42.040 airport, which right now is, seems to be basically impossible because it's surrounded by the Taliban. 0.97

00:14:48.480 So if you can manage on your own as an American citizen to get to the airport, the Biden administration

00:14:52.960 is not going to help you. Not going to guarantee your safety. You could die. That's, that's up to

00:14:57.500 you. That's your problem. The Biden administration says, if you get there, then we're going to give

00:15:02.160 you a bill for $2,000 just to bring you home. Pretty, uh, it seems like they're being very

00:15:10.380 conscious of the, of the budget, apparently very budget conscious, except that, I mean, what are we

00:15:17.120 doing here? We've been handing out checks left and right for thousands of dollars to Americans here

00:15:25.220 who for no reason, just, just giving it to them as a reward for the fact that there was a pandemic.

00:15:31.020 It doesn't matter if, you know, it doesn't, some of them lost their job, but even if you didn't lose

00:15:34.360 your job, you still get the check. Canceling rent, spending trillions of dollars on these kinds

00:15:43.020 of entitlement programs. And yet the federal government can't manage to come up with the

00:15:48.940 scrounge together $2,000 a person to get these people home from Afghanistan. And I mean, why is that? 0.79

00:15:57.500 Well, it's, it's pretty obvious that handing out these kinds of entitlement checks to Americans here

00:16:02.680 is politically useful. Um, but as up, up to this point, they haven't seen a lot of political

00:16:10.680 use in, uh, in doing the same for the people that are trapped, trapped in Afghanistan. Maybe that will

00:16:15.800 change though. I would have to think that their political calculations are changing.

00:16:20.140 All right, moving on. Here's something, um, pretty interesting. The U S embassy in Jamaica

00:16:27.340 is among the many embassies across the world right now that's flying a pride flag.

00:16:33.640 We know even the embassy in Kabul was, uh, flying a pride flag, which we could assume at this point

00:16:39.000 has been taken down. Well, they put one up in Jamaica and some Jamaicans are not happy about that.

00:16:46.700 Uh, they, they say that they don't want the pride flag flying. In fact, they say that it's cultural

00:16:51.640 imperialism. And I think they kind of make a good point. Let's listen to them.

00:16:55.120 And as you might be able to see in the background, the U S embassy continues to fly the LGBT flag,

00:17:00.520 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender flag in breach of the Vienna convention, articles three, one E

00:17:06.440 article 20 and article 41. Right. They are being hostile towards our laws, our culture,

00:17:12.400 and our own democratic system. Instead of flying the Jamaican flag for emancipendance, 0.78

00:17:17.400 they have decided to fly that flag. And that is an insult to our country.

00:17:20.960 Philippa Davies, advocacy officer for the Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society,

00:17:26.500 says the flag represents life practices that threatens the Jamaican culture and the teachings

00:17:32.480 of the Bible. She says it also affects the health of the society.

00:17:36.440 You have to understand what that multicolor flag represents. It represents normalizing

00:17:41.400 perverse sexual behaviors and lifestyle choices, behaviors and lifestyles that lead to disease

00:17:46.920 and death. Our Christian duty is to speak the truth in love.

00:17:51.420 Protesters say they've been peacefully protesting that the flag be taken down since the day it was raised,

00:17:57.640 but are shocked. It remains on the flagpole up to emancipendance week. Efforts to contact the U S consulate

00:18:04.220 and a member of the LGBTQ group on Friday proved futile. However, the protesters say they will continue

00:18:11.900 to stand against the flying of the rainbow-colored flag, describing it as a symbol of disrespect on

00:18:17.740 Jamaican soil. Article 20 specifically says the only flag that should fly is their national flag.

00:18:24.400 The LGBT flag is not their national flag. Their own people have not agreed to that at all. Okay? 0.51

00:18:29.780 Well, they raised some good points, I would say. And there's no response to that. The left has no

00:18:39.700 response. All they can do is ignore this kind of thing. Because if they were to meet that head-on and

00:18:48.940 offer a response, the response would be something like, well, this is not your value system, but it should

00:18:55.440 be. This should be your value system. Because, of course, I mean, we're so used to it by now

00:19:04.140 that maybe we don't stop and reflect on just how crazy this actually is, that U.S. embassies are

00:19:11.180 flying any flag other than the American flag. I don't even care what flag it is.

00:19:16.360 Why are you flying? Why is the American government flying any flag anywhere other than the American

00:19:25.960 flag? The federal government should be flying no flag except the American flag. Should be showing

00:19:33.000 no loyalty to anything but its own country. And then to consider what that flag is. Flag showing

00:19:42.760 pride in certain sexual orientations. This is what our embassies are doing? A flag to show pride in

00:19:51.800 homosexuality or transgenderism?

00:19:55.340 No matter how you even feel about that, why is a federal government, why does a federal government

00:20:06.660 have anything to say about that? At home or especially abroad? It's insane. And then meanwhile, we're flying

00:20:16.820 this flag to promote a value system that many Americans don't share to begin with, but promoting

00:20:28.180 it in countries that certainly don't share it. And if they're flying the American flag anywhere that is

00:20:34.400 not a Western country, I mean, anywhere, then they are promoting this value system. They're imposing

00:20:40.080 this value system on people who do not share it and don't want it. So what are you going to do?

00:20:48.720 Are you going to, I mean, someone should go down there and explain to these people, no, you don't,

00:20:53.820 yeah, you don't, you don't believe in this. This is not your value system, but it should be.

00:20:58.580 We will tell you what your value system should be.

00:21:01.120 No, on the left, when they worry about cultural appropriation or cultural imperialism, you hear

00:21:09.640 these kinds of phrases from them, but they're worried about, I mean, there was, there was some 0.95

00:21:15.300 ridiculous woman, I think some journalist this past week who was upset on Twitter because a white woman 1.00

00:21:25.060 had, uh, had made a cookbook on, on how to make dumplings. She'd made a dumpling cookbook and there 0.99

00:21:32.280 was some leftist who was upset about this. So what is, what is this white woman making a cookbook 1.00

00:21:38.900 about dumplings for? Well, probably she made the cookbook, the, the dumpling cookbook because she's 0.99

00:21:42.620 good at making dumplings and shows she had some advice on how to do that. But that is cultural

00:21:48.400 imperialism, according to the left to, to make a food item that arguably originates somewhere

00:21:57.620 aside from the continental United States. That's the kind of appropriation and cultural imperialism

00:22:05.780 they're worried about. Meanwhile, we're overseas flying pride flags, trying to impose this value

00:22:17.000 system on people who do not want it. All right. This is from a Pew Research Center.

00:22:26.000 Kind of concerning. I would say it says amid rising concerns over misinformation online,

00:22:30.020 including surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, especially vaccines, Americans are now a bit

00:22:34.480 more open to the idea of the U S government taking steps to restrict false information online.

00:22:40.020 And a majority of the public continues to favor technology companies taking such action. According

00:22:44.660 to a new research Pew Research Center survey, roughly half of U S adults, 48%, now say the government

00:22:51.160 should take steps to restrict false information, even if it means losing some freedom to access and

00:22:57.860 publish content. According to the survey of 11,000 adults conducted July 26th through August 8th,

00:23:04.140 that's up from 39% in 2018, which is a pretty large jump.

00:23:09.320 Now, of course, all the familiar grains of salt have to be taken here because this is a Pew survey.

00:23:18.240 But half of the country having this view sounds about right to me. Not, not too surprising, but it is pretty disturbing.

00:23:26.560 Because what you have among these Americans, not only is, are they not valuing their own freedom, 1.00

00:23:31.540 but just an incredible amount of stupidity, incredibly stupid that they haven't thought this 1.00

00:23:41.240 through at all. They answered the survey question, but they haven't, they haven't, they haven't thought 1.00

00:23:45.640 about this beyond surface level. You want the government to be involved, to be in charge of

00:23:51.740 restricting false information. Okay. What does that mean? It means the government is deciding the

00:23:58.260 government is now the arbiter of what is true. That's how the question should be phrased. Do you

00:24:05.740 think that the government should be the arbiter of truth? Do you trust the government to tell you

00:24:15.820 what is true and what isn't? Should the government be the, should they be the ones to decide what is

00:24:20.660 true and what isn't? That's really the question. And these morons, which would include, according to

00:24:29.600 this survey, anyway, half of the country are perfectly willing to give that power to the 1.00

00:24:35.220 government. Meanwhile, many of these same people would tell you with a straight face that at least

00:24:42.100 for the previous four years, our government has been run by a fascist dictator who's literally worse

00:24:47.640 than Hitler. So that's the kind of mistrust they have of the government on one hand, that they

00:24:57.060 think it's within the realm of possibility for a, you know, a Hitlerian dictator to take charge of it.

00:25:02.460 And that that was the case for the past four years. And yet they also trust the government to tell

00:25:06.160 them to decide what is true and what isn't. Because this should be obvious, but we have to keep repeating

00:25:13.040 it. You know, the issue, one of the many issues with the government censoring and restricting

00:25:20.580 misinformation or so-called false information is that someone has to decide, has to decide what is

00:25:26.460 false and what's misinformation. And you're giving that power to the government. All right, moving on.

00:25:32.160 There have been a series of attacks in Chicago by roving gangs of teenagers. And we've got a local

00:25:37.660 news report on one of the latest attacks. A woman was beaten by a group of teens, mostly boys, it

00:25:42.980 would seem. And she's in critical condition now. She's got a fractured skull, lacerations, lots of

00:25:48.000 damage. Here's the report on that. A rideshare driver gave us this video. Look closely at the

00:25:56.000 intersection as the driver pulls up to the red light here at Jackson and State around 1130 Saturday

00:26:02.500 night. You can see the woman is being dragged. You can also hear her screaming. A man in a white shirt

00:26:12.880 tries to help her. He starts to fight with the teens that are attacking her. As the woman gets up and

00:26:18.960 starts to walk away, watch as one of the teens grabs what appears to be a bag that was left on the street.

00:26:25.840 He calmly walks away with it. The woman gets up and tries to walk. She stumbles, then collapses to the 0.99

00:26:35.140 ground. The man in the white shirt again comes to help her as some of the teens ride away on divvy

00:26:41.880 bikes. As the rideshare driver goes through the intersection, look to your right. Some of the

00:26:47.660 teens with bikes are making their way down the stairs to a CTA platform. This incident is one of five

00:26:54.980 attacks on people in the loop between Saturday and Monday. Police say in each case, groups of three

00:27:01.880 to 12 teens go up to victims and demand to have their belongings. The victims are then surrounded

00:27:08.720 and beaten by the teens, using their hands and feet until the victim gives up their property.

00:27:17.360 Nothing new there in Chicago. Eventually, maybe we all see these stories all the time,

00:27:23.700 places like Chicago and Baltimore and every other major city in the country. This kind of violence

00:27:30.080 that, yeah, ostensibly they're doing it to rob the woman, which is bad enough on its own.

00:27:35.940 But it's pretty clear that it's not really even about taking her belongings. I mean, that would be

00:27:42.780 horrible. That would be better than what is the reality. And the reality is that they're just doing it

00:27:46.940 for fun. And taking the purse is sort of a prize at the end of it. Icing on the cake for them, really.

00:27:59.660 Really, it's simply the thrill of victimizing an innocent person and beating them for the sake of it.

00:28:05.220 Eventually, maybe we'll get around to asking the question of how are we raising kids?

00:28:18.420 What's going on in a child's life? And these are not children. These are, you know, I would call them

00:28:24.980 young adults. But what's going on in a child's life that they would turn into that?

00:28:30.480 I mean, when you look at cities across the country and you see these violent thugs

00:28:38.940 with just no conscience at all,

00:28:44.580 committing these acts of brutality and barbarism for the fun of it, how does that happen? How do

00:28:51.620 you end up with that? But these are the conversations we can't have. So usually we're

00:28:59.140 just going to we're going to talk about if there was a gun involved. There's a reason we're not

00:29:02.660 hearing about this at all in the in the mainstream media. I mean, the local media is talking about

00:29:06.500 mainstream media. National media is not talking about it because there's no gun involved here.

00:29:11.220 They just use their fists and whatever other object, whatever other blunt instruments they have around

00:29:15.240 to beat unsuspecting women with. If there's a gun and they'll talk about the gun and how did it end

00:29:21.480 up that these these kids have got their hands on on a gun?

00:29:28.660 But even then, we're not going to talk about, well, it's OK. They got their hands on a gun.

00:29:31.620 What prompted them to use it in that way?

00:29:36.560 You had a case last week. I don't remember what city it was in. I want to say it was maybe New York.

00:29:42.240 And this was caught on camera. There was a fight outside of a shoe store about shoes.

00:29:47.240 And one of the employees from the shoe store came out to try to disperse things

00:29:51.920 courageously, really. And he got shot and killed.

00:29:57.160 You did hear a little bit about that because of the gun. And so we're told, well, he had a gun.

00:30:02.400 How did this young man get this gun? Gun violence is a big problem.

00:30:08.240 That's not really my question.

00:30:10.920 My question is, OK, he had the gun.

00:30:12.800 And why would he want to use it like that?

00:30:17.940 What's going on in his mind that would make him want to kill another person over a fight over shoes?

00:30:27.240 That's the real question. That's the discussion we simply can't have, apparently.

00:30:31.840 I also want to know what's going on in the minds of these people.

00:30:34.080 This is from The Daily Wire. It says,

00:30:35.040 Newly named Jeopardy! host Mike Richards is under fire for resurfaced comments he made

00:30:40.640 that some critics are calling sexist and racist.

00:30:43.800 Pop culture outlet The Ringer first reported Thursday that between 2013 and 2014,

00:30:48.520 as the host of the podcast Random, Richards referred to his female co-host as a, 0.96

00:30:53.760 and I'm quoting now, as a booth hoe, a booth-stitute, and booth slut. 1.00

00:31:04.260 And said, women in one-piece bathing suits look really frumpy and overweight. 1.00

00:31:08.800 In other episodes, Richards made disparaging racial remarks referring to Jewish people.

00:31:12.760 He said of a woman's facial features,

00:31:14.720 ixnay on the oznay, she's not an ujay.

00:31:18.540 In a separate incident, when his co-host described issues she was having with her apartment,

00:31:22.720 he asked if she lived in Haiti, adding,

00:31:26.040 doesn't it sound like that, like the urine smell, the women in the muumuu, the stray cats?

00:31:30.740 And there were other comments like that that he made on his,

00:31:32.780 this was a podcast that no one's ever heard of from about eight years ago.

00:31:37.840 And what we're told is that these comments resurfaced.

00:31:42.180 They just kind of bubbled to the surface on their own.

00:31:44.420 That happens sometimes.

00:31:46.480 But that's not actually what happened, of course.

00:31:48.200 There's no resurfacing.

00:31:49.060 Someone had to go and dig through this podcast from eight years ago

00:31:53.040 that no one's ever heard of or knew existed

00:31:54.860 to find these comments.

00:31:59.840 And that raises the question of why.

00:32:02.760 What's the point?

00:32:04.780 The comments he made,

00:32:06.040 and I don't know anything about Mike Richards.

00:32:08.100 I don't care who hosts Jeopardy.

00:32:09.460 It's not Alex Trebek,

00:32:12.540 so there's no one that can fill those shoes, unfortunately, for me.

00:32:16.420 And I used to be a big Jeopardy fan,

00:32:18.020 but for me it's lost almost all of its charm now that Alex Trebek is gone.

00:32:21.180 So I don't care who hosts it.

00:32:22.600 It doesn't matter.

00:32:23.120 I have no interest in defending Mike Richards.

00:32:24.880 What do I care?

00:32:25.940 I'm sure he's already, you know,

00:32:27.860 I'm sure he's already broken down onto his knees and apologized.

00:32:30.360 And if he hasn't yet, then I'm sure he will,

00:32:34.940 because that's usually the way these things go.

00:32:37.100 So it doesn't matter much to me.

00:32:38.500 The comments he made in the podcast eight years ago,

00:32:40.880 were they objectionable?

00:32:41.780 Yeah.

00:32:44.300 But what's going on?

00:32:45.360 Why would someone had to hear the news

00:32:48.340 that some guy named Mike Richards is going to be the host of Jeopardy

00:32:51.280 and then say,

00:32:52.840 I'm going to comb through this guy's past.

00:32:55.120 I'm going to go through hours and hours of tape

00:32:57.460 and I'm going to find,

00:32:59.860 I'm going to find something.

00:33:02.340 I'm going to see if this guy has ever said or done anything bad 0.94

00:33:05.840 so that I can destroy him

00:33:07.180 because he's going to be the host of Jeopardy.

00:33:12.220 Now, I understand if someone is running for political office,

00:33:14.800 that's the way the game is played.

00:33:16.840 The people on the other side,

00:33:18.860 his rivals want to destroy him.

00:33:20.620 I get that.

00:33:21.280 That's the way that goes.

00:33:22.480 That's the way it's always gone in politics.

00:33:25.620 This is about the most apolitical position

00:33:27.680 a person could possibly hold,

00:33:28.920 the host of Jeopardy.

00:33:32.760 So what would compel you

00:33:34.380 to go digging for that in the first place?

00:33:39.680 Well, it's just,

00:33:40.340 this is the reaction now that a lot of people have.

00:33:42.280 You see someone in the news

00:33:43.820 and their head is rising above the pack a little bit.

00:33:49.440 Something good is happening to them.

00:33:52.940 This guy gets to be the host of Jeopardy.

00:33:54.940 I'm sure it's a lifelong dream of his.

00:33:57.320 Maybe not, but it's a big deal for him.

00:33:59.440 And so the immediate reaction from a lot of people

00:34:04.820 in this diseased culture of ours is to say, 0.98

00:34:07.040 let's try to destroy that guy. 0.92

00:34:10.280 I don't know him. 0.99

00:34:11.160 I got nothing personally against him.

00:34:12.440 He's never done anything to me, 0.93

00:34:13.640 but let's ruin his life.

00:34:15.440 Let's not just take his job away,

00:34:17.040 but for the crime of being given this opportunity

00:34:20.600 and having good fortune befall him,

00:34:23.820 for that crime,

00:34:25.200 for the crime of being a fortunate person,

00:34:27.000 we are just going to ruin him.

00:34:29.980 And that's what they've done.

00:34:33.540 It is a,

00:34:36.180 you know,

00:34:36.960 if that's your instinct to do that,

00:34:39.360 you need to look deeply within yourself

00:34:41.140 to figure out what's going on in your own heart.

00:34:45.880 That that would even occur to you.

00:34:48.480 I heard the news that Mike Richards

00:34:49.820 was going to be a Jeopardy host.

00:34:51.180 It never occurred to me

00:34:52.480 to wonder about offensive things he said in the past.

00:34:55.360 I probably would have assumed

00:34:56.480 that he said offensive things in the past

00:34:57.920 because everybody has.

00:35:00.040 Never would have occurred to me to go check.

00:35:03.280 And if I had checked for some reason

00:35:05.020 and I discovered that,

00:35:06.040 you know what I would have done?

00:35:06.640 I wouldn't have told anybody.

00:35:08.760 Because I'm not looking to just destroy people

00:35:10.420 for no reason.

00:35:11.140 If that's how you get your rocks off,

00:35:15.180 if that's how you,

00:35:16.240 if that's your form of recreation and entertainment,

00:35:18.820 you need to look within yourself

00:35:19.940 and inside your own soul.

00:35:21.420 All right.

00:35:21.780 Finally,

00:35:22.280 it's been a while since we've played

00:35:23.340 a crazy person on TikTok,

00:35:24.740 but we're going to do this.

00:35:25.500 This is a preschool teacher

00:35:27.940 talking about her experiences

00:35:30.140 on the first day of preschool.

00:35:32.560 And let's just watch.

00:35:34.880 Story time.

00:35:36.500 This has been my first year in preschool

00:35:39.220 with a class of my own,

00:35:40.460 teaching alongside another

00:35:42.420 queer neurodivergent educator.

00:35:44.460 And we have been rocking our two's class.

00:35:47.180 We've been talking about gender

00:35:48.360 and skin color

00:35:49.580 and consent

00:35:50.720 and empathy

00:35:51.720 and our bodies

00:35:52.820 and autonomy.

00:35:53.700 It's been fabulous.

00:35:55.340 But our teaching team is shifting

00:35:56.840 and a new person is being onboarded,

00:35:58.920 someone with many years of experience.

00:36:00.780 So today at the lunch table,

00:36:02.540 when the topic of gender

00:36:04.800 and genitals came up, 1.00

00:36:06.560 one of our students 0.96

00:36:07.580 plainly looked up and said,

00:36:09.600 well, I'm a girl today,

00:36:11.100 but I know that teacher Ko isn't.

00:36:13.480 No, they're Enby.

00:36:15.240 And the look on the incoming teacher's face

00:36:18.940 was priceless.

00:36:20.720 She was shocked in a good way.

00:36:23.440 And she just looked around

00:36:24.760 at the two of us and said,

00:36:26.020 this class is incredible.

00:36:27.100 And I am so impressed.

00:36:33.560 They're really trying to make

00:36:34.740 neurodivergent happen,

00:36:36.200 aren't they?

00:36:37.720 I'm hearing that phrase 0.89

00:36:38.740 more and more now.

00:36:40.520 I don't mean to discriminate at all,

00:36:42.320 but, you know,

00:36:43.020 that's not who I am.

00:36:44.940 That's not me.

00:36:45.640 But if you notice

00:36:48.320 that your child's preschool teacher

00:36:50.000 has five piercings on each ear

00:36:52.940 and a nose ring,

00:36:53.720 that's a problem.

00:36:58.060 They're really the nose ring at all.

00:37:00.440 These are the red flags

00:37:02.440 and the warning signs

00:37:03.040 you have to look out for.

00:37:04.780 Or really,

00:37:05.580 we could take a step back.

00:37:07.460 We could step back farther than that

00:37:08.960 because the actual warning sign

00:37:10.840 is that it's a public school preschool.

00:37:12.940 At this point,

00:37:15.380 if you're sending your child

00:37:17.500 to preschool at all

00:37:18.900 in a public school environment,

00:37:21.860 then that is an unjustifiable decision

00:37:26.640 at this point, I would say.

00:37:29.020 You just cannot send.

00:37:31.600 Now, you know how I feel

00:37:32.280 about public school in general.

00:37:34.640 And I don't think we should be sending

00:37:36.020 our kids to public school at all.

00:37:37.200 But at least if it's an older kid,

00:37:39.760 a kid in high school or something,

00:37:40.920 there's a possibility

00:37:45.480 that they're going to have

00:37:47.680 enough moral and intellectual formation

00:37:50.240 at that point

00:37:51.080 where they can withstand

00:37:52.400 the indoctrination

00:37:53.340 that's being foist upon them.

00:37:56.220 Also, there's at least the possibility,

00:37:58.100 although I know that teenagers

00:37:59.380 are notoriously not very forthcoming

00:38:01.260 with information about themselves

00:38:03.200 and their experiences,

00:38:04.840 even so,

00:38:05.360 there's the possibility

00:38:06.120 that you could sit down

00:38:07.180 and talk to your teenager

00:38:08.600 and say,

00:38:09.180 what happened at school today?

00:38:10.060 You could have a conversation.

00:38:10.960 You could hear about these things.

00:38:11.800 But you're sending

00:38:13.040 your three-year-old in.

00:38:17.360 You're not going to hear

00:38:18.160 about any of this.

00:38:19.240 You can't talk to them.

00:38:20.880 They're not going to tell you

00:38:21.720 about any of this stuff.

00:38:24.820 They might mention it.

00:38:26.580 They might mention something

00:38:27.740 in passing

00:38:28.480 that raises your antenna.

00:38:30.480 But for the most part,

00:38:32.580 you're probably not going

00:38:33.180 to hear about it.

00:38:33.620 And also,

00:38:38.480 they are totally susceptible.

00:38:41.120 They are 100% susceptible

00:38:43.640 to whatever their preschool teacher

00:38:45.020 tells them.

00:38:48.020 So when this weirdo, 0.99

00:38:49.300 this degenerate freak, 1.00

00:38:51.060 sits down with your three-year-old 1.00

00:38:52.660 and says,

00:38:53.100 let's talk about our bodies,

00:38:55.280 whatever comes out of her mouth yet,

00:38:59.000 your child is 100% susceptible to it.

00:39:01.380 He has no defenses at all.

00:39:06.520 You send your three-year-old 0.98

00:39:07.620 into public school,

00:39:09.060 this is an act of absolute,

00:39:11.760 complete trust in the system.

00:39:14.160 You are trusting

00:39:15.380 that nobody will take advantage

00:39:18.380 of your child's innocence

00:39:19.760 and vulnerability

00:39:21.240 to turn them into something

00:39:25.100 that you don't even recognize.

00:39:26.220 You're trusting that.

00:39:27.320 And what I'm saying is

00:39:28.120 you cannot trust the system.

00:39:30.780 You can't trust the system at all.

00:39:33.100 You certainly can't trust it

00:39:34.320 entirely and absolutely,

00:39:35.820 which is what you do

00:39:36.720 when you drop your three-year-old

00:39:38.100 off in the building.

00:39:38.840 You say,

00:39:39.160 hey, okay,

00:39:39.580 I'll be back in a few hours.

00:39:44.560 Just don't do it.

00:39:45.480 It's not worth it.

00:39:46.920 It's not worth it.

00:39:48.440 Now we're going to check in

00:39:49.400 with a new sponsor

00:39:50.380 we're very excited about,

00:39:52.880 it's hard to get all the nutrients

00:39:56.440 every single day,

00:39:57.920 especially if you're busy.

00:39:59.220 I mean,

00:39:59.400 you might eat plenty of food.

00:40:01.400 We all probably eat too much food,

00:40:02.620 but are you getting

00:40:03.160 the actual nutrients

00:40:04.200 that you need from that food?

00:40:05.260 A lot of us aren't.

00:40:06.340 And that's why you need Super Beats.

00:40:15.120 Grapeseed extract

00:40:15.760 has been the focus

00:40:17.000 of scientific research for years

00:40:18.500 due to its high concentration

00:40:19.980 of antioxidants,

00:40:21.040 which supports

00:40:21.860 cardiovascular health

00:40:22.900 and overall wellness.

00:40:23.800 I don't really know

00:40:24.300 what an antioxidant is,

00:40:25.180 to be honest,

00:40:25.900 but from all the hype,

00:40:27.520 I understand

00:40:27.940 that it's pretty important

00:40:29.580 to have.

00:40:30.100 The grapeseed extract

00:40:30.880 used in Super Beats Heart Chews

00:40:32.020 has been clinically shown

00:40:32.920 to be two times as effective

00:41:00.820 All right,

00:41:01.300 let's move now

00:41:01.820 to reading the comments.

00:41:02.680 This is from John Smith says,

00:41:04.140 I think the hardest time

00:41:05.480 Matt has

00:41:06.260 is thinking about something

00:41:07.280 that he says

00:41:08.040 is when he has to come up

00:41:09.660 with a different pronunciation

00:41:10.640 for every individual

00:41:11.920 every time he mentions them.

00:41:14.460 Well,

00:41:15.020 Jan Smythe,

00:41:15.820 I really don't know

00:41:16.560 what you're even talking about.

00:41:17.960 Reese Richardson says,

00:41:19.140 I'm getting married on Saturday.

00:41:20.620 I'm aiming for five.

00:41:23.420 Five wives or children? 0.98

00:41:25.500 Hope you mean children

00:41:26.180 and five is a great number.

00:41:28.780 Violin Girl says,

00:41:30.200 you don't seem to have a problem 0.95

00:41:31.380 with killing animals,

00:41:32.300 so why would you judge people

00:41:34.040 who choose abortion? 0.69

00:41:36.240 Well,

00:41:36.720 Violin Girl,

00:41:37.420 it's because

00:41:38.700 people are different

00:41:44.580 from animals.

00:41:45.880 So it's for the same reason.

00:41:48.200 Let me try to explain it this way.

00:41:50.560 Have you ever in your life

00:41:51.840 been driving down the road

00:41:53.440 and seen a roadkill

00:41:55.640 on the side of the road?

00:41:56.400 Have you ever had that experience?

00:41:57.560 I bet you have.

00:41:58.220 You've seen a dead deer

00:41:59.200 or a raccoon

00:42:00.140 or a skunk or something.

00:42:02.320 And how do you react to that

00:42:03.760 when you see that dead animal

00:42:05.060 on the side of the road?

00:42:07.460 You probably don't think

00:42:08.280 anything at all.

00:42:09.440 You just keep driving.

00:42:11.260 Maybe at most you think,

00:42:12.440 oh, that's sad.

00:42:13.220 Poor deer.

00:42:13.580 And then you go about your day.

00:42:16.240 If you were driving along

00:42:17.320 and you saw a dead person

00:42:18.680 on the side of the road,

00:42:19.940 you would have

00:42:21.260 a very different reaction.

00:42:24.320 Right?

00:42:24.760 I mean,

00:42:24.980 aside from the fact

00:42:25.760 that you would call the police,

00:42:26.520 hopefully,

00:42:27.720 but that would be

00:42:28.100 a deeply traumatic experience

00:42:29.680 for you.

00:42:32.380 And it would hit you

00:42:33.420 on a much deeper level.

00:42:34.940 That's something you would remember

00:42:35.900 for the rest of your life.

00:42:36.660 Can you remember

00:42:37.320 specific incidents

00:42:38.520 of roadkill

00:42:39.700 that you saw?

00:42:40.180 In fact,

00:42:44.560 we refer to animals

00:42:45.540 as roadkill.

00:42:47.600 If you saw a dead person

00:42:48.740 on the side of the road,

00:42:49.400 would you call a dead person

00:42:50.460 roadkill?

00:42:51.680 Ah, there's some roadkill

00:42:52.460 and just keep driving?

00:42:53.240 No.

00:42:55.080 You would be

00:42:55.840 traumatized by that.

00:42:59.180 You'd be very deeply shaken by it.

00:43:01.000 You'd remember it

00:43:01.720 for the rest of your life,

00:43:02.640 the time you saw a dead person

00:43:03.840 on the side of the road.

00:43:06.380 So why is that?

00:43:07.280 You come up with an answer

00:43:10.520 to that question

00:43:11.260 and you'll have

00:43:11.900 my answer on this.

00:43:13.820 I think the answer is that

00:43:15.100 in most cases,

00:43:17.220 you value human life

00:43:18.800 more than you value

00:43:20.000 animal life.

00:43:22.720 It's just that

00:43:23.500 you make an exception

00:43:24.440 for unborn human life.

00:43:27.820 And what I'm saying is

00:43:28.920 that there's no reason

00:43:29.580 to make that exception.

00:43:31.240 Because unborn human life

00:43:32.460 is still human life.

00:43:33.160 And if you have judged

00:43:34.060 that human life

00:43:34.900 is more valuable

00:43:35.540 than animal life,

00:43:36.140 which you have

00:43:36.880 and I know you have,

00:43:38.360 then you should make

00:43:39.420 the same judgment

00:43:40.000 for unborn human life.

00:43:41.740 That's my problem.

00:43:43.280 Jared says,

00:43:44.140 you're right, Matt,

00:43:44.740 a nation's happiness,

00:43:45.700 success, and pride

00:43:46.600 are totally correlated

00:43:47.620 to the amount of children

00:43:48.400 they have.

00:43:48.940 Like Niger, 0.64

00:43:49.800 which is at

00:43:50.500 seven kids per woman.

00:43:52.160 They've had lots

00:43:52.740 of national successes

00:43:53.600 since their independence

00:43:54.360 in 1958.

00:43:55.040 They've had

00:43:55.340 five military coups

00:43:57.200 and it's yearly,

00:43:58.060 and it's yearly's dead last

00:44:00.360 or close to it

00:44:00.980 in the Human Development Index.

00:44:02.820 Totally great logic.

00:44:03.880 Also, check out

00:44:04.660 the next highest

00:44:05.340 countries in birth rates,

00:44:07.680 all of the uber-patriotic,

00:44:09.240 high-achieving countries

00:44:10.140 like Angola,

00:44:11.580 Mali,

00:44:12.100 Chad,

00:44:12.540 Uganda,

00:44:13.360 and South Sudan.

00:44:17.040 Yes, Jared,

00:44:17.820 very clever.

00:44:19.360 I mean,

00:44:19.620 you can indeed

00:44:20.440 provide many examples

00:44:21.620 of third-world countries

00:44:22.600 and failed states

00:44:24.240 where people

00:44:25.200 have lots of kids

00:44:26.000 and yet remain

00:44:26.660 third-world countries

00:44:27.540 and failed states.

00:44:28.560 Nothing I said yesterday

00:44:29.620 contradicts that.

00:44:30.400 What I would like

00:44:31.960 to know, though,

00:44:32.460 is if you can provide

00:44:33.180 an example

00:44:33.760 of a country

00:44:35.340 that experienced

00:44:36.540 a precipitous decline

00:44:37.860 in the birth rates

00:44:38.940 and then went on

00:44:40.880 to flourish

00:44:41.520 like never before.

00:44:43.040 That was my question.

00:44:45.200 Where has a drop

00:44:46.180 in fertility

00:44:46.940 led to national success

00:44:49.420 and prosperity?

00:44:50.960 Can you come up

00:44:51.700 with an example of that?

00:44:52.580 And I think

00:44:55.820 you probably can.

00:44:58.580 Because

00:44:59.060 generally

00:45:00.680 when a civilization

00:45:01.820 gives up

00:45:02.800 on the future

00:45:03.520 and

00:45:05.320 when you've dropped

00:45:06.800 below replacement level,

00:45:08.560 when your fertility rate

00:45:09.720 has dropped

00:45:10.160 below replacement level,

00:45:11.600 that means that

00:45:12.060 collectively

00:45:12.600 you've given up

00:45:13.200 on the future.

00:45:17.700 And when that happens,

00:45:18.900 that's not a sign

00:45:19.740 of a healthy civilization.

00:45:23.020 That's not a sign

00:45:23.760 of a civilization

00:45:24.300 with a future

00:45:25.000 because it's given up

00:45:25.600 on the future.

00:45:30.340 OJ says,

00:45:31.340 Matt,

00:45:31.600 an iPhone and a puppy

00:45:32.580 is not nearly as expensive

00:45:34.100 as a family.

00:45:35.480 Children cost

00:45:36.140 hundreds of thousands

00:45:36.980 to raise.

00:45:37.760 Responsible people

00:45:38.420 understand that

00:45:39.120 they can't afford it.

00:45:40.760 Who are these people

00:45:41.600 that can't afford

00:45:42.080 having a kid?

00:45:42.880 Who are they?

00:45:44.520 Who are the people

00:45:45.220 who can't afford kids? 1.00

00:45:46.000 Because,

00:45:48.100 you know,

00:45:48.660 I know families

00:45:49.540 with

00:45:51.420 single-income families

00:45:53.860 where the mother

00:45:55.020 stays home

00:45:55.720 six,

00:45:56.820 seven,

00:45:57.340 eight kids

00:45:57.800 or more

00:45:58.260 and they're not

00:45:59.220 making

00:45:59.640 more than

00:46:02.200 $80,000 or $90,000

00:46:03.000 a year

00:46:03.280 at most

00:46:03.860 for all those kids.

00:46:05.600 I know plenty

00:46:06.180 of families like that.

00:46:08.540 I know families

00:46:09.360 that make a lot

00:46:09.880 less than that

00:46:10.660 and have

00:46:12.200 more kids

00:46:13.440 than I do.

00:46:14.680 Sometimes significantly more.

00:46:16.780 So what is this stuff

00:46:17.740 about I can't afford a kid?

00:46:18.880 What do you mean exactly?

00:46:22.900 You know,

00:46:23.360 I see people all the time

00:46:24.440 who live in nice,

00:46:25.520 you know,

00:46:25.900 apartments

00:46:26.280 and they've got all

00:46:27.480 the latest

00:46:28.700 consumer electronics.

00:46:30.480 They're living

00:46:31.120 very comfortably

00:46:31.840 and they say

00:46:33.860 they can't afford

00:46:34.380 having a kid.

00:46:37.860 Meanwhile,

00:46:38.540 people who have

00:46:39.320 less money

00:46:40.100 than them

00:46:40.880 have kids

00:46:42.700 and also

00:46:43.620 managed to live

00:46:44.200 comfortably.

00:46:45.120 How does that work?

00:46:48.220 Because,

00:46:48.680 like I said yesterday,

00:46:49.560 it's about priorities.

00:46:52.800 Okay,

00:46:53.140 children,

00:46:54.520 and it's also about

00:46:55.260 just things like

00:46:56.300 proper budgeting,

00:46:57.200 children don't come

00:46:57.860 with a price tag.

00:46:59.300 The idea,

00:47:00.040 and I hear this a lot,

00:47:00.820 that,

00:47:01.040 well,

00:47:01.260 the average child

00:47:02.100 costs whatever number

00:47:03.420 they give you now,

00:47:04.060 it's like $300,000

00:47:05.020 to get a child

00:47:07.580 from,

00:47:08.000 you know,

00:47:08.460 age zero

00:47:09.060 up to 18.

00:47:10.140 That's absurd.

00:47:11.080 That would mean

00:47:11.480 that,

00:47:11.680 you know,

00:47:11.960 a middle-class family

00:47:12.840 with four or five kids

00:47:13.660 would spend

00:47:14.480 like over a million dollars

00:47:16.160 raising those kids.

00:47:19.420 Meanwhile,

00:47:19.860 they might not even

00:47:20.440 earn a million dollars

00:47:21.460 in that time.

00:47:23.260 What we're being told

00:47:24.080 is that to have

00:47:24.600 a large family,

00:47:25.200 by your estimation,

00:47:27.040 to have a large family,

00:47:28.300 and by large,

00:47:28.820 I mean like four kids

00:47:29.680 or more,

00:47:30.200 you would have to be

00:47:31.040 a millionaire

00:47:31.620 to afford it.

00:47:34.440 And yet,

00:47:35.000 I'm willing to guess

00:47:35.640 right now

00:47:36.000 that not only

00:47:38.240 is it not true

00:47:39.100 that all families,

00:47:40.460 that all large families

00:47:41.560 are millionaires,

00:47:42.140 I would guess

00:47:42.760 that

00:47:44.440 almost every large family

00:47:47.020 is not a millionaire family.

00:47:51.400 No,

00:47:51.880 generally,

00:47:52.340 when you look at

00:47:52.740 the higher income brackets,

00:47:53.840 they have fewer kids.

00:47:56.140 So,

00:47:56.620 there seems to be

00:47:56.960 a disconnect here.

00:47:59.340 You're assuming,

00:48:00.520 oh,

00:48:00.560 it's just not possible,

00:48:01.340 you can't afford,

00:48:01.980 kids are prohibitively expensive,

00:48:04.160 and yet,

00:48:04.640 you look throughout

00:48:05.180 the world,

00:48:06.120 and billions of people

00:48:06.960 manage to do it.

00:48:08.460 And they're not all

00:48:09.240 living in poverty.

00:48:11.200 Many of them

00:48:11.760 manage to do it

00:48:12.860 and live very comfortably.

00:48:17.040 Because it's about

00:48:17.680 proper budgeting,

00:48:18.580 it's about having

00:48:19.020 your priorities straight,

00:48:20.240 and yeah,

00:48:22.100 I mean,

00:48:22.300 you may have to

00:48:22.980 make some sacrifices.

00:48:24.840 Rather than having

00:48:25.740 seven TVs in the house,

00:48:27.120 maybe you only,

00:48:27.680 maybe you have to

00:48:28.040 make do with three.

00:48:30.980 You know,

00:48:31.440 rather than getting

00:48:32.020 the latest iPhone

00:48:33.560 as soon as it comes out,

00:48:35.600 you know,

00:48:35.740 maybe you only,

00:48:36.400 maybe you have to wait,

00:48:37.140 like,

00:48:37.300 maybe every third iPhone

00:48:38.480 you get the upgrade,

00:48:40.140 something like that.

00:48:43.660 Maybe instead of

00:48:44.600 going overseas

00:48:45.320 on a vacation,

00:48:46.120 you've got to settle

00:48:46.720 with the continental

00:48:47.280 United States.

00:48:48.040 I mean,

00:48:48.200 these are the kind of

00:48:48.840 sacrifices that families

00:48:50.060 have to make.

00:48:52.560 All right,

00:48:52.820 Jordan says,

00:48:53.660 marriage is a no 0.99

00:48:54.500 for me, man.

00:48:55.420 Western women are 1.00

00:48:56.160 lost beyond hope.

00:48:58.160 And then another comment

00:48:59.040 from Rina,

00:48:59.620 who says,

00:49:00.020 would love to have

00:49:00.540 lots of babies,

00:49:01.340 but just can't find

00:49:02.260 a good man.

00:49:03.340 Well,

00:49:04.060 Rina,

00:49:04.680 meet Jordan.

00:49:05.600 Jordan,

00:49:05.940 meet Rina.

00:49:08.060 I hear this all the time.

00:49:09.620 Men complaining 1.00

00:49:10.340 they can't find

00:49:10.800 a good woman.

00:49:11.600 Women complaining 1.00

00:49:12.060 they can't find

00:49:12.500 a good man.

00:49:13.040 I understand

00:49:13.400 that it probably

00:49:13.920 is difficult,

00:49:14.700 but they are out there.

00:49:15.440 And we just made

00:49:17.720 a connection right here

00:49:18.960 in the YouTube

00:49:20.000 comment section

00:49:20.720 on the Matt Wall

00:49:58.280 behind a movement.

00:49:59.860 You can get all of this

00:50:00.980 again, I think the

00:50:02.300 headline here is for

00:50:03.180 just $4 a month.

00:50:04.880 So go to

00:50:05.200 dailywire.com right now.

00:50:06.160 Sign up for that

00:50:06.560 Reader's Pass.

00:50:07.040 And as you all well

00:50:08.760 know, the Sweet Baby

00:50:09.380 Gang is an exclusive

00:50:10.580 club that only my

00:50:12.080 listeners are a part of.

00:50:14.040 If you're one of the

00:50:14.880 gang, then I have 0.87

00:50:16.160 excellent news.

00:50:16.900 And I say, you know,

00:50:17.840 only my listeners are

00:50:18.580 part of the Sweet Baby

00:50:19.140 Gang. 0.66

00:50:19.320 That's true.

00:50:20.420 But not even all the

00:50:21.880 listeners are part of the

00:50:22.620 Sweet Baby Gang.

00:50:23.420 Okay?

00:50:23.680 It's a more exclusive

00:50:25.300 club than that.

00:50:27.120 And here's the

00:50:27.780 excellent news.

00:50:28.320 We are in need of a

00:50:29.700 Sweet Baby Gang

00:50:30.580 anthem.

00:50:31.300 And this is going to be

00:50:31.920 something that

00:50:32.660 encapsulates everything

00:50:34.900 that the Sweet Baby

00:50:35.420 Gang represents and

00:50:36.360 stands for, whatever that

00:50:38.020 happens to be.

00:50:39.200 And so we are, what I've

00:50:40.060 been saying is we're

00:50:40.780 looking for, the Sweet Baby

00:50:42.460 Gang is looking for its

00:50:43.200 own Francis Scott Key.

00:50:44.280 We're looking for someone

00:50:45.440 who can make our

00:50:46.060 anthem that we will

00:50:47.520 stand for, hand on

00:50:49.820 heart.

00:50:50.120 There's going to be no

00:50:50.600 kneeling for this anthem

00:50:51.420 at all.

00:50:52.600 And that's why the Daily

00:50:53.420 Wire is right now opening

00:50:54.380 up submissions.

00:50:55.180 Submissions have been

00:50:55.760 opened up.

00:50:56.120 All you have to do is go to

00:50:56.860 dailywire.com slash SPG.

00:50:59.360 What you want to do is

00:51:00.280 record your video, record

00:51:02.000 the song, put it on

00:51:03.440 YouTube, and then submit

00:51:04.820 the link to dailywire.com

00:51:06.540 slash SPG.

00:51:07.780 Submissions end on

00:51:08.680 August 25th, so you've

00:51:09.600 got a few days left to

00:51:10.820 do that.

00:51:11.600 And then we're going to

00:51:12.460 judge all of these songs

00:51:14.240 in sort of American Idol

00:51:15.520 style and decide who has

00:51:17.440 the ultimate Sweet Baby

00:51:18.760 Gang anthem.

00:51:19.200 So again, that's

00:51:19.580 dailywire.com slash SPG.

00:51:21.880 Now let's get to our

00:51:22.760 daily cancellation.

00:51:27.200 There's a made-for-TV

00:51:28.600 movie from my childhood

00:51:29.800 called Not Quite Human.

00:51:31.360 And as I recall, it was

00:51:32.340 about a creepy middle-aged

00:51:33.600 man who builds a robot that

00:51:35.100 looks like a boy and then

00:51:36.380 adopts him as a son.

00:51:37.480 And the robot is mostly

00:51:39.020 lifelike, but his true

00:51:40.140 android nature sometimes

00:51:41.500 comes through in the way

00:51:42.920 that he speaks and the way

00:51:43.900 that he moves.

00:51:45.300 It was a great film, a real

00:51:46.680 classic of the genre.

00:51:47.980 And by genre, I mean 80s

00:51:49.500 made-for-TV movies about

00:51:50.680 robots.

00:51:51.280 This had to be in like the

00:51:52.240 top 10 of that category.

00:51:54.100 Anyway, you may be

00:51:54.700 wondering why I'm telling

00:51:55.360 you about this, and I'm

00:51:55.940 sort of wondering about

00:51:56.580 that myself.

00:51:57.240 I think the main reason is

00:51:59.020 that I could never figure

00:51:59.720 out who Mark Zuckerberg

00:52:00.880 reminds me of exactly until

00:52:02.300 I remembered Not Quite Human.

00:52:04.100 He is like a form of AI,

00:52:05.500 an android that almost

00:52:07.040 passes for a real boy,

00:52:08.260 a robotic Pinocchio,

00:52:09.580 you might say.

00:52:10.820 And I wouldn't normally

00:52:11.620 make fun of him for this.

00:52:12.700 After all, you know, he

00:52:13.720 can't help it if he was

00:52:14.460 assembled in a laboratory

00:52:15.400 in some mad scientist

00:52:16.520 basement somewhere.

00:52:17.700 But the problem is that

00:52:18.660 Zuckerberg wants to turn

00:52:19.640 all of us into robots

00:52:21.620 just like him.

00:52:22.920 And he's so far had

00:52:23.800 enormous success in that

00:52:24.820 regard, and it's only

00:52:26.080 going to get worse from

00:52:26.740 here.

00:52:27.580 So Facebook, along with

00:52:28.680 the other tech giants,

00:52:30.440 plans to move away from

00:52:31.860 traditional social media

00:52:33.180 America and into the world

00:52:35.280 of virtual reality.

00:52:37.100 Zuckerberg is now building

00:52:38.100 what he describes as a

00:52:39.220 metaverse, a word he

00:52:41.180 takes directly from a

00:52:42.180 dystopian sci-fi book,

00:52:43.680 which is a little too on

00:52:44.560 the nose for my taste.

00:52:45.680 An article in The

00:52:46.280 Conversation has this.

00:52:47.280 It says,

00:52:47.840 Mark Zuckerberg wants to

00:52:48.760 reinvent Facebook.

00:52:49.640 He's been telling analysts

00:52:50.460 and journalists that he

00:52:51.300 wants the company to lead

00:52:52.380 the way to a completely

00:52:53.720 different internet.

00:52:54.560 He said, quote,

00:52:55.060 In the coming years, I

00:52:55.760 expect people will

00:52:56.380 transition from seeing us

00:52:57.400 primarily as a social media

00:52:58.600 company to seeing us as a

00:53:00.220 metaverse company.

00:53:01.040 In many ways, the

00:53:02.360 metaverse is the ultimate

00:53:03.340 expression of social

00:53:04.420 technology.

00:53:05.440 The term metaverse is

00:53:06.140 used to describe the

00:53:07.240 vision whereby the

00:53:08.040 internet will evolve into

00:53:09.040 a virtual world.

00:53:10.200 It foresees the internet

00:53:10.880 as a 3D virtual living

00:53:12.500 space where individuals

00:53:13.500 dip in and out,

00:53:14.680 interacting with one

00:53:15.280 another in real time.

00:53:16.700 Many in Silicon Valley

00:53:17.580 still view the metaverse

00:53:18.700 as the future.

00:53:19.460 For example, Google is

00:53:20.780 heavily invested in

00:53:21.580 augmented reality, which

00:53:22.760 is where you use

00:53:23.440 technology to look at

00:53:24.480 the real world, but with

00:53:25.420 digital 3D objects

00:53:26.500 layered on top.

00:53:27.700 And rumors swirl that

00:53:28.540 Apple is building

00:53:29.260 products like glasses for

00:53:30.520 experiencing virtual

00:53:32.020 spaces.

00:53:33.180 But Facebook appears

00:53:34.140 the most committed to

00:53:35.040 all to this new vision

00:53:36.280 in his quest to turn

00:53:37.160 Facebook into a

00:53:37.840 metaverse company.

00:53:38.820 Zuckerberg is seeking to

00:53:39.740 build a system where

00:53:41.140 people move between

00:53:42.000 virtual reality,

00:53:43.660 augmented reality,

00:53:44.540 and even 2D devices

00:53:45.860 using realistic avatars

00:53:47.580 of themselves where

00:53:48.500 appropriate.

00:53:49.580 Here they will work,

00:53:50.660 socialize, share things,

00:53:52.280 and have other

00:53:53.740 experiences.

00:53:55.300 Now, one need not

00:53:56.500 strain too much to

00:53:57.620 imagine what those

00:53:58.560 other experiences might

00:53:59.760 be.

00:54:00.120 I'll say only that

00:54:00.860 porn sites are also

00:54:02.280 working on building

00:54:02.920 their own virtual

00:54:03.580 reality universes, so

00:54:04.740 maybe you connect the

00:54:05.620 dots there.

00:54:06.500 But as the article

00:54:07.060 suggests, Zuckerberg is

00:54:09.440 ahead of the game and

00:54:10.540 has already come up with

00:54:11.740 his first metaverse

00:54:13.300 application in an effort

00:54:14.900 to, as he says, help us

00:54:16.600 to be a part of and

00:54:18.020 inside of the internet.

00:54:19.720 He's come up with a

00:54:20.680 with something called

00:54:21.580 Horizon Workrooms, which

00:54:23.020 is a virtual reality

00:54:24.440 office space where you

00:54:26.420 can have meetings with

00:54:27.420 your co-workers inside

00:54:29.360 the metaverse.

00:54:30.900 So think of it like

00:54:31.980 Zoom, except a

00:54:33.840 thousand times worse.

00:54:35.440 Here is Zuckerberg on

00:54:36.280 CBS this morning giving

00:54:37.600 a demonstration of the

00:54:38.940 metaverse.

00:54:40.520 Workrooms is used on

00:54:41.780 Facebook's Oculus Quest

00:54:43.320 2 virtual reality

00:54:44.800 headsets.

00:54:46.080 Once inside, you can

00:54:47.140 customize your own

00:54:48.380 avatar.

00:54:49.700 Mark, I'm in.

00:54:51.080 All right, welcome.

00:54:52.000 Oh my God, you've got

00:54:53.020 freckles on your nose.

00:54:54.260 I have freckles in real

00:54:55.740 life, too, so I'm trying

00:54:56.920 to do the best of my

00:54:57.800 avatar.

00:54:58.780 Do you like my glasses?

00:54:59.860 I like it in here.

00:55:01.260 Your avatar looks great.

00:55:02.800 This is my first virtual

00:55:05.400 reality interview.

00:55:07.520 How about you?

00:55:08.140 It's mine, too.

00:55:08.680 My first virtual reality

00:55:10.040 interview, too.

00:55:11.160 You know, we're very

00:55:11.740 optimistic that in five

00:55:14.440 years from now, people are

00:55:16.080 going to be able to live

00:55:16.680 where they want and work

00:55:18.220 from wherever they want,

00:55:19.740 but are going to be able

00:55:21.260 to feel present as if

00:55:23.000 they're together when

00:55:23.800 they're doing that.

00:55:24.720 Do you have a favorite

00:55:25.400 feature to use in here?

00:55:27.900 Yeah.

00:55:28.200 Something that you think

00:55:28.920 is very cool?

00:55:30.740 Yeah, I mean, there are

00:55:31.420 a couple of things that I

00:55:32.400 really like.

00:55:32.920 I mean, one is that you

00:55:33.680 can just dynamically change

00:55:34.960 the layout of the room.

00:55:36.500 So, you know, I mean,

00:55:37.560 here, you know, I can,

00:55:38.980 we're in a room layout

00:55:40.340 that's designed for

00:55:41.440 conversation.

00:55:41.960 I can switch us really

00:55:42.880 quickly.

00:55:43.840 So now we're in a

00:55:45.560 presentation setting.

00:55:46.840 Yes.

00:55:47.100 So that's pretty neat.

00:55:48.140 And Mike's in the middle,

00:55:49.140 yeah.

00:55:49.480 And then, you know, check

00:55:50.600 this out.

00:55:50.940 I can, I can basically

00:55:51.900 go and, um, and, and

00:55:54.840 go stand at the whiteboard

00:55:56.080 and, um, it's like

00:55:59.420 brainstorming, just like

00:56:00.480 in a normal meeting that

00:56:02.380 you would have been in.

00:56:04.220 Well, that is truly

00:56:05.260 horrifying.

00:56:06.100 Many problems spring

00:56:07.140 immediately to mind.

00:56:07.960 First of all, what if

00:56:09.660 Jeffrey Toobin shows up

00:56:10.940 to your metaverse meeting?

00:56:12.600 I mean, he's bad enough

00:56:13.420 on Zoom.

00:56:14.380 Now imagine being trapped

00:56:15.360 in virtual reality with

00:56:16.540 him.

00:56:17.080 Also, who in God's name

00:56:18.360 wants to be more fully

00:56:19.820 immersed in a work

00:56:20.860 meeting?

00:56:21.860 Who's ever been sitting

00:56:22.740 on a Zoom call and said

00:56:23.640 to themselves, man, this

00:56:24.320 is great, but I just wish

00:56:25.160 I could be literally

00:56:25.760 trapped inside this call

00:56:27.340 right now in the computer

00:56:28.560 with all these people.

00:56:30.320 The whole advantage of

00:56:31.340 Zoom is that you don't

00:56:32.280 have to pay attention or

00:56:33.200 actually be physically

00:56:33.940 near anyone.

00:56:35.220 Now that's being taken

00:56:36.200 away.

00:56:37.440 And Zuckerberg says that

00:56:38.140 it's great because now

00:56:39.120 you can attend meetings

00:56:39.960 from anywhere on earth.

00:56:40.960 Hooray! 0.97

00:56:41.500 That's wonderful.

00:56:42.280 So even if you're on

00:56:42.960 vacation in Fiji, your

00:56:44.560 boss back in New Jersey

00:56:45.620 can still call you into

00:56:46.660 the conference room

00:56:47.300 for a meeting.

00:56:48.500 That's supposed to be a

00:56:49.280 good thing.

00:56:50.840 You know, one of the

00:56:51.420 problems with Zoom and

00:56:52.280 social media and the

00:56:52.960 internet generally is it

00:56:54.800 won't allow us to get

00:56:55.980 the hell away from each

00:56:56.960 other and that makes

00:56:57.800 this problem, this makes

00:56:59.420 that problem, I think,

00:56:59.940 a lot worse.

00:57:00.400 Not to mention, what if

00:57:01.660 your boss calls you in

00:57:02.600 to fire you?

00:57:03.840 Can you imagine getting

00:57:04.620 fired by your employer's

00:57:06.300 cartoon avatar?

00:57:08.080 Talk about insult to

00:57:08.900 injury.

00:57:09.680 And speaking of the

00:57:10.280 cartoon avatar, why

00:57:12.200 exactly would you want to

00:57:13.960 make it look exactly like

00:57:15.000 yourself, right down to

00:57:15.860 the facial blemishes?

00:57:17.200 If there's any advantage

00:57:18.400 to this kind of thing,

00:57:19.240 wouldn't it be that you

00:57:19.800 can build a better

00:57:20.800 version of yourself,

00:57:22.200 more interesting version

00:57:23.600 of the world as well?

00:57:25.960 This is one of the many

00:57:26.920 downsides of living in a

00:57:28.120 country run by these

00:57:29.020 tech nerds.

00:57:30.000 I mean, they're all

00:57:30.480 genius IQ billionaires,

00:57:33.140 but they have very little

00:57:34.520 imagination.

00:57:35.360 So Zuckerberg can create a

00:57:36.940 virtual reality world,

00:57:38.420 but he makes it look like

00:57:39.980 a conference room on the

00:57:41.140 ninth story of an office

00:57:42.240 building in Cincinnati.

00:57:43.000 If we're going to do this

00:57:44.700 meta universe thing, why

00:57:45.780 wouldn't you have your

00:57:46.380 meeting on like a moon of

00:57:49.140 Jupiter or inside a

00:57:50.240 volcano or in the jungle

00:57:52.160 during the Jurassic period?

00:57:53.840 You could do all of that.

00:57:54.840 You might as well make it

00:57:55.380 interesting if we're going

00:57:56.160 to do this.

00:57:57.700 But going back to what I

00:57:58.600 just said before, I said

00:57:59.280 that one of the problems

00:57:59.960 with the internet is that

00:58:00.720 it won't allow us to get

00:58:01.560 the hell away from each

00:58:02.300 other.

00:58:02.600 And that's true.

00:58:03.960 It becomes weirdly

00:58:04.820 claustrophobic and

00:58:05.900 exhausting because we're all

00:58:07.000 in constant contact with

00:58:08.220 each other all the time with

00:58:09.680 no space to breathe.

00:58:10.640 Even the simple act of

00:58:12.440 carrying a phone around all

00:58:13.720 the time is oppressive.

00:58:15.620 Constantly at the beck and

00:58:16.640 call of anyone who happens

00:58:17.640 to have our phone number.

00:58:18.740 When I was a child and you

00:58:19.980 kids out there, you're

00:58:20.660 going to find this hard to

00:58:21.920 believe.

00:58:22.160 But when I was a child, if

00:58:25.060 you wanted to talk to

00:58:25.840 somebody on the phone or

00:58:27.660 contact them at all and

00:58:29.240 they weren't physically at

00:58:30.420 their house, then you

00:58:32.780 simply wouldn't be able to

00:58:34.040 contact them.

00:58:35.580 You would have to call and

00:58:37.060 leave a message and wait

00:58:38.140 for them to respond.

00:58:39.340 And it might take a few

00:58:40.880 days.

00:58:42.100 People would walk around

00:58:43.340 in the world every day

00:58:44.660 with nothing in their

00:58:46.120 pocket, but a wallet and

00:58:47.180 maybe keys.

00:58:48.900 You were forced to, if you

00:58:50.020 can believe it, you were

00:58:51.340 forced to actually

00:58:52.100 acknowledge and interact

00:58:53.340 with your immediate

00:58:54.260 environment and the people

00:58:55.520 within it.

00:58:56.760 And if two people were out

00:58:58.000 there in the world

00:58:58.560 somewhere far away from

00:58:59.640 you having a conversation,

00:59:00.680 there would be no way for

00:59:02.380 you to intrude into it.

00:59:04.060 You couldn't call, you

00:59:05.040 couldn't send a text.

00:59:06.900 They're over there living

00:59:07.820 their lives and you were

00:59:08.900 here and all you could do

00:59:10.100 was be here in this place

00:59:11.840 that you are with no way to

00:59:13.640 escape it except to, you

00:59:15.500 know, be to physically

00:59:17.140 travel to another place.

00:59:18.900 And sometimes, and this I

00:59:20.340 know you won't believe, but

00:59:21.900 sometimes you would do this

00:59:24.420 thing called nothing.

00:59:26.060 And what I mean is maybe you

00:59:28.180 were sitting in a waiting

00:59:28.980 room getting your oil

00:59:30.220 changed or at the dentist and

00:59:32.360 there were no good magazines

00:59:33.440 or, you know, nothing that

00:59:35.200 you were interested in on TV.

00:59:37.360 And maybe nobody was around

00:59:38.960 you who you felt like

00:59:39.660 talking to.

00:59:40.340 So you would just sit there

00:59:42.300 and think.

00:59:44.300 Can you imagine that?

00:59:45.840 You just like sit.

00:59:46.700 Have you ever done this?

00:59:47.260 I know it's like people of a

00:59:48.360 certain age have probably

00:59:48.860 never done this in their

00:59:49.480 lives, but you just, you'd

00:59:50.740 sit in the chair and that's

00:59:52.200 all you do.

00:59:52.520 You just sit there and you

00:59:54.520 would think about things

00:59:55.180 and thinking, you know, this

00:59:57.540 is, if I have to explain

00:59:58.880 what thinking is, thinking

00:59:59.720 is this thing that people

01:00:00.760 used to do before Google

01:00:02.800 started doing it for them.

01:00:03.860 So all this to say, the

01:00:06.860 internet makes it so that we

01:00:07.860 can't escape other people

01:00:09.260 except for those people who

01:00:12.160 we are actually physically

01:00:13.440 present with.

01:00:14.780 It keeps us connected to

01:00:16.060 strangers and social media

01:00:17.060 mob and coworkers and other

01:00:18.380 assorted malcontents.

01:00:20.460 But it becomes this complete

01:00:22.000 inversion of priorities

01:00:23.200 because the thing that grabs

01:00:24.820 our attention is the thing

01:00:27.500 which is, which we are

01:00:29.100 farthest away from.

01:00:30.220 We become immersed in the

01:00:32.820 universe, but not the room

01:00:34.120 we're sitting in.

01:00:36.080 Now with virtual reality and

01:00:37.880 augmented reality, this will

01:00:39.300 only get worse.

01:00:41.220 Think about augmented reality.

01:00:43.900 Now they want to augment even

01:00:46.400 that room that you're sitting

01:00:47.820 in, which you were already

01:00:50.240 mostly ignoring.

01:00:51.680 They want to facilitate all of

01:00:54.500 our human interactions, including

01:00:56.740 the in-person face-to-face

01:00:58.460 interactions, what few of them

01:00:59.600 we have anymore.

01:01:01.200 We'll reach a point where I'm

01:01:02.680 sure, you know, people are

01:01:03.760 going to be sitting in a

01:01:04.460 physical conference room with

01:01:05.900 each other all together and 0.99

01:01:07.680 all wearing those dumb 1.00

01:01:08.540 looking headsets so that they 1.00

01:01:09.940 can interact with the cartoon

01:01:11.300 versions of each other.

01:01:13.460 We are slowly giving up on

01:01:15.260 flesh and blood human

01:01:16.220 existence, melting into the

01:01:17.740 internet, becoming a part of

01:01:19.600 it, as Zuckerberg says, says he

01:01:22.540 wants us to be a part of the

01:01:24.060 internet, a hellish dystopian

01:01:27.380 vision, that he openly says

01:01:30.800 that's his plan.

01:01:32.680 Soon we'll all be soulless

01:01:33.880 machines like himself, not 0.99

01:01:35.280 quite human, like the 80s TV

01:01:38.100 movies tried to warn us.

01:01:39.980 But we didn't listen because we

01:01:41.120 never do.

01:01:42.900 And so it's probably futile now

01:01:44.280 to say this, but I will

01:01:45.200 anyway, while I still can.

01:01:48.040 Mark Zuckerberg, you are, of

01:01:49.840 course, canceled.

01:01:51.520 And we'll leave it there for

01:01:52.420 today.

01:01:52.720 Thanks for watching.

01:01:53.260 Thanks for listening.
