The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 807 - Local Virginia Man Speaks At School Board

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, we finally descended upon Loudoun County yesterday, my new home, to make our voices heard,

00:00:05.620 though the school board threw every possible roadblock in the way. We'll talk about some of those today.

00:00:09.200 But the Loudoun County situation is part of a larger and more important conversation about who exactly should be determining what our kids are taught in schools, the state or the parents.

00:00:17.800 We'll discuss that. Also, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is asked why he won't resign for his failures in Afghanistan.

00:00:24.480 His answer is less than sufficient, I think. Greta Thunberg babbles incoherently and receives raucous applause. 1.00

00:00:31.260 And a black teacher in California is not pleased with the special gift basket she was given for being black.

00:00:36.560 And then Will Smith says that his open marriage with his wife is perfect and loving and beautiful.

00:00:41.840 And somehow I doubt that. We'll talk about all that and more today on the Matt Wall Show.

00:00:44.880 Well, when I set out on my journey to my new home here in Virginia, you know the first thing I made sure to pack.

00:01:01.080 That was my trusty relief band. I never go anywhere without it.

00:01:04.500 Relief Band is the number one FDA-cleared anti-nausea wristband that's been clinically proven to quickly relieve and effectively prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, anxiety, migraine, hangover, morning sickness, chemotherapy, and so much more.

00:01:16.420 The product is 100% drug-free, non-drowsy, and provides all-natural relief with zero side effects for as long as needed.

00:01:22.660 The technology was originally developed over 20 years ago in hospitals to relieve nausea from patients.

00:01:26.960 But now through Relief Band, it's available to the masses.

00:01:29.440 How it works is Relief Band stimulates a nerve in the wrist that travels to the part of your brain that controls nausea, that blocks that signal that your brain is sending to your stomach telling you that you're sick.

00:01:41.640 And Relief Band is the only over-the-counter wearable device that has been used in hospitals and oncology clinics to treat nausea and vomiting.

00:01:47.840 And I tell you, this thing really does work.

00:01:49.920 Ensure that nausea is never the reason to miss out on life's important moments.

00:01:52.980 Right now, Relief Band has an exclusive offer just for Matt Walsh listeners.

00:01:56.120 If you go to ReliefBand.com and use promo code Walsh, you'll receive 20% off, plus free shipping and a no-questions-asked 30-day money-back guarantee.

00:02:03.620 So head to R-E-L-I-E-F-B-A-N-D.com and use promo code Walsh for 20% off.

00:02:09.820 Well, it was a long time coming, not weeks, but really years in the making, as I have revealed to you in some vulnerable and emotionally honest moments on this show recently,

00:02:18.100 that I have long desired to be a resident of the state of Virginia.

00:02:20.820 I've always felt deep down that I really was Virginian, even back when I was living a lie, identifying with the state that was assigned to me at birth.

00:02:29.460 But finally, yesterday, I was able to make the official transition and become a legal resident of Virginia when I signed a lease to rent a woman's basement for $1 a month. 0.97

00:02:38.580 It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I decided to splurge a little bit, and it was worth it because I'm now at peace with myself.

00:02:44.640 I feel at home, in my body, and in my state.

00:02:48.280 And even more importantly, yesterday, we had our rally at the Loudoun County School Board in protest of their radical indoctrination of the kids in the district.

00:02:55.560 The turnout was incredible. The energy in the crowd made it feel even bigger than it already was.

00:03:00.600 Unsurprisingly also, none of the opposition showed up.

00:03:04.080 After sending me threatening messages for weeks, I showed you some of that, some of the things they were saying to me, some of the threats they were making.

00:03:10.480 They all chose to stay home, cooking up their next batch of mean tweets and disgruntled emails, I guess.

00:03:16.600 This is a common theme for people on that side.

00:03:18.860 They'll confront you online.

00:03:21.340 Maybe they'll confront you in real life if they can be confident that they'll have you entirely outnumbered.

00:03:25.980 But outside of that, they prefer to stay hidden in the shadows and insulated.

00:03:30.860 This is especially true of the Loudoun County School Board itself.

00:03:34.400 I did end up speaking before the board, and we'll play that clip in a moment.

00:03:37.560 But consider the hoops we had to jump through just to earn an audience with the royal majesties on the school board.

00:03:45.440 As has been much publicized, they require proof of residence.

00:03:48.980 No problem for me as a man who has been a Virginia resident since you were in diapers.

00:03:54.600 I mean, if you're currently still an infant, then that would be true.

00:03:57.260 We had to also present, you know, we had our proof of residence we had to present outside the building.

00:04:01.920 Then they also demanded that we show our IDs as well.

00:04:04.140 And then next, we had to empty our pockets and undergo a TSA-style security screening.

00:04:10.620 Already the process to speak at a school board meeting, a public school school board meeting, is far more involved and far more secure than the process to vote.

00:04:18.840 And the whole thing felt quite racist to me, frankly, because it certainly would be called racist if they required all of that outside of a voting booth.

00:04:25.560 And we aren't done yet, because next we were ushered into the mostly empty building.

00:04:30.860 And I also have to say, the building where the school board in Loudoun County does its business is enormous, like the size of the Pentagon.

00:04:37.660 No spectators were allowed to sit inside the room with the school board.

00:04:41.840 No one could be in the presence of their highnesses.

00:04:45.820 No one in the public was permitted to attend the public meeting.

00:04:50.120 Some media were allowed inside, but most were outside the building.

00:04:53.140 And we were then told to stand, once we got inside, we were ushered along, we were told to stand in certain marked areas, six feet apart, single file, waiting for our name to be called.

00:05:01.800 At which point, we would have exactly 60 seconds to give our comment.

00:05:05.960 At 60 seconds, a buzzer sounds, and the mic is cut off.

00:05:09.280 And for a final indignity, and the thing that I hated the most, you had to wear a mask.

00:05:14.580 No mask, no mic.

00:05:15.720 That was the policy.

00:05:17.020 All of this, again, to speak at a school board.

00:05:20.280 Of course, as we're standing in the hallway, waiting to be brought before the royal court, we could hear one peasant subject after another get up there, barely articulate a complete thought before being buzzed and kicked out of the room.

00:05:33.040 The school board said, before my arrival, the school board said that I was an outside agitator, and they didn't want me there because they really wanted to hear from the parents of Loudoun County and other community members.

00:05:44.500 Well, that's kind of funny, because if they really wanted to hear from the community, they have an odd way of showing it.

00:05:50.080 They want to hear from the community for exactly 60 seconds apiece, to be specific.

00:05:54.380 Which means, of course, that they don't want to hear at all, because unless you're a very polished speaker, and you do these things professionally, you will not be able to say anything of substance in one minute, put on the spot like that.

00:06:07.340 The people who go to school boards, for the most part, are not professional speakers.

00:06:10.900 It shouldn't have to be.

00:06:12.440 That's what made the whole thing a farce.

00:06:14.540 Though that isn't even the worst of it.

00:06:15.940 Standing in line with the other community members, I was informed that in the past, the school board has set the time limit for public comment to 30 seconds. 1.00

00:06:25.900 That's only enough time to basically tell the school board to kiss your ass. 0.99

00:06:29.460 Which, the next time they set it to 30 seconds, that's exactly what every person in line should do. 1.00

00:06:33.860 They should have 300 people signed up, and every single person just get up there and say, you know what, kiss my ass. 1.00

00:06:40.120 Anyway, finally it was my turn, with 60 seconds on the clock, and a mask muzzling my face, and here's what I had to say. 0.98

00:06:45.620 I would thank you all for allowing me to speak to you tonight, but you tried not to allow it, yet here I am.

00:06:49.780 Now you only give us 60 seconds, so let me get to the point. 0.97

00:06:51.940 You are all child abusers. 0.99

00:06:53.700 You prey upon impressionable children and indoctrinate them into your insane ideological cult, 0.98

00:06:57.880 a cult which holds many fanatical views, but none so deranged as the idea that boys are girls and girls are boys.

00:07:03.380 By imposing this vile nonsense on students, to the point even of forcing young girls to share locker rooms with boys,

00:07:08.900 you deprive these kids of safety and privacy, and something more fundamental too, which is truth.

00:07:13.060 If education is not grounded in truth, then it is worthless.

00:07:16.680 Worse, it is poison. 1.00

00:07:18.120 You are poison. 1.00

00:07:19.360 You are predators. 1.00

00:07:20.700 I can see why you try to stop us from speaking.

00:07:22.360 You know that your ideas are indefensible.

00:07:24.460 You silence the opposing side because you have no argument. 1.00

00:07:26.840 You can only hide under your beds like pathetic little gutless cowards, hoping we shut up and go away. 1.00

00:07:33.120 But we won't. 1.00

00:07:34.200 I promise you that.

00:07:35.840 Thank you for your time, and I'll talk to you again very, very soon.

00:07:38.800 Now there's more that could have been said, obviously, but those were the bullet points.

00:07:42.600 The spectacle inside the building was pathetic and pitiful in many ways because of all of this, 0.71

00:07:49.200 all of these roadblocks and everything that were put in our way, 0.77

00:07:54.120 but it was also a good sign in another way because the board was doing all of this because they're scared,

00:07:59.640 and they're scared and they should be scared because they realize that they no longer have free reign

00:08:03.720 to do whatever they want to do, enact whatever policies they want to enact,

00:08:09.300 impose their value system on kids without pushback or consequence.

00:08:13.100 And that's what this whole debate is really about, if you can call it a debate with the way they've set it up.

00:08:16.880 It was actually, it was thrown into sharp relief during the Virginia gubernatorial debate,

00:08:21.820 which, as it happens, was taking place during the meeting not far away.

00:08:26.640 So not far away from where we were, they were having the gubernatorial debate between Terry McAuliffe and Glenn Youngkin.

00:08:34.900 And when the topic of education came up, Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat, had this to say.

00:08:39.040 Listen to this.

00:08:39.480 The parents had to write to veto bills, veto books, Glenn, not to be knowledgeable about it,

00:08:45.600 also take them off the shelves, and I'm not going to let parents come into schools 0.85

00:08:49.000 and actually take books out and make their own decisions.

00:08:52.800 You vetoed it.

00:08:53.760 So, yeah, I've stopped the bill that I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.

00:08:59.240 You know, I get really tired of everybody running down teachers.

00:09:03.420 I love our teachers.

00:09:04.240 And what they have done through COVID, these are real heroes that deserve our respect.

00:09:08.580 And you keep running them down.

00:09:10.600 Yeah, some teachers are heroes, that's true.

00:09:13.240 I talked to a few of them yesterday.

00:09:15.340 Teachers with moral courage who stand against the abuse and the indoctrination of children, they're heroes.

00:09:21.640 Teachers, in general, though, are just people.

00:09:24.940 Some of them are heroes.

00:09:26.200 Some of them are simpering cowards and lazy do-nothings who got a year off of work and still wanted more. 0.71

00:09:32.100 Some are propagandists and partisans. 0.99

00:09:35.000 Some are much worse than that.

00:09:37.120 So it's a mixed bag.

00:09:38.580 But what you can't do is put everybody into the bag and label the whole bag heroes.

00:09:43.700 More to the point, McAuliffe says that parents shouldn't be telling teachers what to teach.

00:09:50.300 Well, then who should be telling them what to teach?

00:09:54.040 Who should be deciding, ultimately, what kids are taught, what they learn, what values are instilled?

00:10:01.200 This is not a question about the rights of teachers.

00:10:05.480 It's not a question about teachers at all.

00:10:08.240 This is a question about who should have the primary authority over children.

00:10:13.380 And there are really only two possible answers to that.

00:10:18.520 At least there are only two that are ever given.

00:10:22.940 It becomes a binary choice.

00:10:24.840 It's either going to be the state or the parents.

00:10:30.400 McAuliffe says the state.

00:10:31.460 The Loudoun County School Board certainly thinks the answer is the state.

00:10:34.420 More specifically, they think the answer is them personally as representatives of the state.

00:10:38.920 So that could be your answer, that the state has ultimate authority over children, which, again, is what this is about.

00:10:48.900 Who is in charge of children?

00:10:50.620 Another way of putting it is, who do the children belong to?

00:10:57.240 First and foremost.

00:10:59.600 On earth, anyway.

00:11:00.720 You know, as believers, we would say that the children belong to God, first and foremost.

00:11:07.460 But who has God given that authority to on earth?

00:11:12.800 Who has God primarily entrusted those children to?

00:11:17.020 The state or the parents?

00:11:20.980 And we know that the state has been raising its hand for decades and saying, no, no, it's us.

00:11:25.800 It's us.

00:11:26.220 Give us your kids.

00:11:27.080 And for a very long time, parents were happy to just, even if they didn't agree, to sort of go along with that.

00:11:34.120 And usher their children into the arms of the state and say, hey, treat them well now.

00:11:38.400 I'll trust you to have their best interests at heart.

00:11:42.060 Now I think people are finally waking up to the truth.

00:11:45.380 And that is a very good thing.

00:11:48.440 Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:11:49.640 You know, if you spend time on the internet, as we all do, of course, because that's where you are right now, you should know that you are potentially vulnerable.

00:12:04.240 And that's why you need LifeLock.

00:12:05.900 Payment apps, even like, you know, Venmo, Cash App, and others make payments easy.

00:12:09.800 But you may want to adjust your privacy settings to prevent them from sharing your personal information.

00:12:13.720 A recent report found that payment apps share user data with third parties, such as banks, fraud monitoring services, and some even share it with marketing firms.

00:12:21.060 That's just one example of the ways that people can get a hold of your information and another reason why, again, you need LifeLock.

00:12:26.760 Every day we put our information at risk on the internet in an instant.

00:12:29.400 A cybercriminal could harm what's yours, your finances, your credit, your reputation.

00:12:33.940 And that's why it's so good that we have LifeLock.

00:12:37.380 LifeLock helps detect a wide range of identity threats, things that you may not know about or may not have access to, information you may not have access to, unless you have LifeLock.

00:12:46.420 You also have access to a dedicated restoration specialist if you do become a victim.

00:12:50.380 Nobody can prevent all identity theft or monitor all transactions at all businesses, but you can keep what's yours with LifeLock by Norton.

00:13:05.120 Well, a little bit of personal news and sad family news, in fact, I have to tell you about, unfortunately.

00:13:13.740 We did suffer a tragedy in our home because we finally got a dog.

00:13:20.560 And I've told you, I've been trying to withstand this pressure campaign from my wife and my kids.

00:13:29.120 And I, I, I stood up to it for as long as I could.

00:13:34.600 Okay.

00:13:35.740 I, I endured it for as long as I possibly could, but finally I, I gave in.

00:13:40.220 And we've now adopted some kind of dog.

00:13:43.040 I don't even know what this beast is that's in our house.

00:13:45.540 I don't even know what kind of dog it is.

00:13:46.900 It's just there hanging out.

00:13:47.980 And, uh, and, you know, for, for the most part, it hasn't been as bad as I expected because

00:13:53.460 the dog's pretty calm.

00:13:55.600 Um, he doesn't jump on the furniture so far.

00:13:58.000 He doesn't, he doesn't like chew pillows and stuff like that.

00:14:00.940 Uh, although really if you started chewing pillows, I think I'd be fine with that because

00:14:04.640 we have way too many of those in the house.

00:14:05.820 That might be a good thing.

00:14:06.520 Um, but the worst thing about having the dog so far is that, is that, uh, we have become

00:14:12.020 the sort of family.

00:14:13.040 And when I say we have become the sort of family, this is really like 100% my wife, but we become

00:14:17.380 the sort of family where that, that takes 20 pictures of the dog every day and like sends

00:14:23.780 it around to family members in group text messages.

00:14:27.120 So look what our dog did. 0.97

00:14:28.460 Look what our dog just did.

00:14:29.600 Isn't this cute?

00:14:30.140 I'm looking at all these text messages.

00:14:33.420 My wife is sending with pictures of the dog and I'm thinking to myself, what have we become?

00:14:37.700 I don't recognize this anymore.

00:14:41.320 And maybe there's a little bit of jealousy too, because I, I, I'm getting this feeling

00:14:44.520 like I've been replaced by the dog in some ways.

00:14:47.660 Like the other day, just on Sunday before I left, uh, the kids were going to the park

00:14:51.260 and, uh, and I wasn't able to go cause I had to finish up some work and they came to me.

00:14:54.980 They said, dad, are you, are you, are you able, are you coming to the park?

00:14:56.940 And I said, well, I can't cause I gotta, gotta finish some work.

00:14:58.960 They said, oh, it's, oh, okay.

00:15:01.940 Well, can the dog come?

00:15:03.020 Yeah, the dog come.

00:15:03.960 Yay.

00:15:04.500 And then he just ran off.

00:15:05.760 What do you need dad for when you got the dog?

00:15:08.640 It's a tragedy.

00:15:09.780 This is what we are now.

00:15:11.140 All right.

00:15:11.480 So the chairman of the joint chiefs, uh, of staff, general Mark Milley testified before

00:15:15.720 the Senate armed services committee.

00:15:17.400 Tom Codden asked him the question that we've all had, which is why hasn't he resigned given

00:15:23.000 that the Afghan, uh, Afghanistan withdrawal was a, was a tremendous disaster that killed, 0.94

00:15:28.000 uh, resulted in the deaths of, of many people, not even counting the seven children and three,

00:15:35.100 uh, adults who were murdered via drone strike with claims that they were terrorists.

00:15:40.100 And it turns out that they weren't.

00:15:41.760 So why is this guy still in a position of power?

00:15:44.540 Why hasn't he resigned?

00:15:46.220 Here's his answer to that question.

00:15:47.540 As a senior military officer, um, resigning is a really serious thing.

00:15:54.580 It's a political act.

00:15:55.540 If I'm resigning in protest, my job is to provide advice.

00:15:59.180 My statutory responsibility is to provide legal advice or best military advice to the

00:16:03.280 president.

00:16:04.140 And that's my legal requirement.

00:16:05.620 That's what the law is.

00:16:07.360 Um, the president doesn't have to agree with that advice.

00:16:10.140 He doesn't have to make those decisions, uh, just because we're generals and it would be

00:16:15.080 an incredible act of political defiance for a commissioned officer to just resign because

00:16:20.680 my advice is not taken.

00:16:21.820 This country doesn't want generals figuring out what orders we are going to accept and

00:16:27.860 do or not.

00:16:28.800 That's not our job.

00:16:30.440 The principle of civilian control of the military is absolute.

00:16:33.000 It's critical to this Republic.

00:16:34.720 In addition to that, just from a personal standpoint, you know, my, my dad didn't get a choice

00:16:39.040 to resign at Iwo Jima and those kids that are at Abbey Gate, they don't get a choice

00:16:42.480 to resign and I'm not going to turn my back on them.

00:16:45.280 Uh, I'm not going to reason they can't resign.

00:16:47.500 So I'm not going to resign.

00:16:48.460 There's no way.

00:16:49.440 Yeah.

00:16:49.760 That kind of misses the point.

00:16:50.960 Doesn't it?

00:16:53.380 I mean, that's, that's, that's not the, that's not the point.

00:16:56.520 We're not, we're not saying that you should resign in protest.

00:17:01.280 Okay.

00:17:01.660 We're, we're saying it's not, it's not that you should resign in protest.

00:17:04.720 Because other people screwed up and you're upset about it. 1.00

00:17:07.940 It's that you screwed up and that's why you should be gone because you're incompetent. 1.00

00:17:12.980 And much of what's happening right now is your fault. 0.99

00:17:16.500 So I feel like someone had to clear that confusion up for him.

00:17:20.360 Um, similar confusion here, political controversy.

00:17:25.000 I'm reading now from the, from the daily wire.

00:17:27.400 It says Republican governor, Kristi Noem on Tuesday slammed the media for trying to destroy

00:17:32.780 her children following a report from the Associated Press claiming that Noem engaged in a conflict

00:17:37.660 of interest, a claim the governor's office, uh, has denied as a wholly political attack.

00:17:43.780 The Associated Press reported on Tuesday, just days after a South Dakota agency moved to deny

00:17:49.140 her daughter's application to become a certified real estate appraiser.

00:17:52.260 Governor Kristi Noem summoned to her office, the state employee who ran the agency, the

00:17:56.940 woman's direct supervisor and the state labor secretary. 0.99

00:18:00.160 Noem's daughter attended to Cassidy Peters, then 26, ultimately obtained the certification

00:18:05.020 of in November of 2020, four months after the meeting at her mother's office.

00:18:09.360 Peters told the AP, my upgrade to become a certified residential appraiser was very lengthy and I

00:18:13.500 was expected to navigate through many obstacles from the very beginning.

00:18:16.080 I'm glad I have it now and that I have the privilege to serve my clients in South Dakota.

00:18:20.800 Uh, so this is, this is the claim anyway, from, from the Associated Press that Kristi Noem

00:18:25.080 used the power of her office to get this position for her daughter. 1.00

00:18:30.140 So some, some nepotism there.

00:18:32.300 And if, if it's true that she did this, and I don't know if it's true or not, there would

00:18:37.020 be quite a lot of irony and hypocrisy in that because, you know, this is the same woman 0.90

00:18:42.000 who has refused, for example, to step up and prevent employers from firing employees in

00:18:50.460 the state if they're not vaccinated.

00:18:51.900 And she, and she, she refused to, um, prevent, you know, colleges from allowing men onto the, 1.00

00:19:01.360 onto the female sports teams. 0.98

00:19:03.080 Uh, she went along with the trans agenda and the re and the reason she did all of that, 0.99

00:19:06.460 or she didn't do any of that rather is because she, she felt that it would be an inappropriate

00:19:11.580 use of state power.

00:19:14.860 And it would be, it would be wrong for her to use her power in that way.

00:19:17.900 That's, that was the reason she gave.

00:19:20.940 So if she's saying that it would be an inappropriate use of state power to stand up for the rights

00:19:24.980 of the citizens of her state, and yet she's using her power in this way, that would be, 0.99

00:19:30.120 there would be quite a lot of irony and hypocrisy in that.

00:19:31.560 So, but this is where, this was her response.

00:19:35.120 Um, she says, posted this to Twitter.

00:19:38.720 She says, listen, I get it.

00:19:40.440 I signed up for this job, but now the media is trying to destroy my children.

00:19:44.620 The story is just another example of the double standard that exists with the media

00:19:47.860 going after conservatives and their kids while ignoring liberals.

00:19:52.700 Hashtag ask the big guy.

00:19:56.700 Now I'm just looking if there's more to this because that, first of all, that's not exactly

00:20:00.320 a denial, is it?

00:20:01.560 I don't see that as a denial.

00:20:06.520 And also it once again, purposefully misses the point.

00:20:11.480 Just like with Mark Milley.

00:20:12.840 No, we're not saying that you should resign in protest of other people screwing up. 0.98

00:20:16.780 We're saying that you're the screw up. 1.00

00:20:18.360 You're the incompetent. 1.00

00:20:20.420 You're unfit for the office. 1.00

00:20:21.600 And that's why you need to be gone.

00:20:22.780 And this case, no, no one's attacking your, your child.

00:20:26.300 Who's an adult, by the way.

00:20:28.560 Uh, what they're attacking you.

00:20:30.540 They're saying that you acted inappropriately.

00:20:32.160 So if you use the power of your office in this nepotistic way to secure a position for your

00:20:39.620 daughter, and we say we disapprove of that, we're not attacking your daughter, as you well

00:20:44.360 know.

00:20:44.600 So I don't know if this is true or not.

00:20:48.420 I, of course I can't, I can't say that, but it does make me kind of suspicious that this

00:20:55.500 was Kristi Noem's response.

00:20:56.560 There's no denial in it.

00:20:59.820 And she's intentionally missing the point.

00:21:03.860 That, that always makes me suspicious because Joe Biden, as she references in the hashtag,

00:21:09.660 I'm sure if I went back and looked, I could see examples of Kristi Noem criticizing Joe

00:21:14.800 Biden because of the Hunter Biden stuff.

00:21:16.260 I don't know that for sure, but I'm going to guess that I could.

00:21:21.860 And what has been Joe Biden's response to all the criticisms of how he allegedly used the power

00:21:26.400 of his office to secure favors and positions for Hunter Biden?

00:21:30.980 His response has been, stop attacking my family.

00:21:33.080 You're attacking my kids.

00:21:35.440 My precious little child, my, my little boy who's in his fifties or forties or whatever.

00:21:39.800 So she's using the exact same approach here, which just makes me suspicious.

00:21:46.820 I'm also suspicious of this person, Stephanie Grisham, reading now from the Hill.

00:21:51.640 It says, former White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham claimed that a new book that

00:21:55.300 she sought to shield a young female aid from former president Trump after he, at one point, 0.53

00:22:00.240 invited her to his air force cabin to look at her.

00:22:04.540 Grisham writes in her new book, I'll take your questions now, set to be released on October 5th,

00:22:09.300 that she tried to keep a young female aid away from Trump after the former president

00:22:12.660 repeatedly invited her up to his Air Force One cabin, including one time to look at her 0.98

00:22:17.060 and use an expletive to describe her rear end. 1.00

00:22:20.440 Grisham also writes that Trump told her to promote the aid and keep her happy,

00:22:24.760 according to the New York Times, which received a manuscript of Grisham's book.

00:22:29.420 And I'm not even going to go on reading that because I, because I don't really care.

00:22:32.760 This is always my problem with these tell all books after the fact.

00:22:35.620 If you have a bunch of deep, dirty, dark secrets that you can tell, and you held on to all those

00:22:44.280 secrets, and you continued working for this person for years, just so that once they're

00:22:51.420 out of power, you can write your tell all book and get a big advance and make a lot of money

00:22:55.940 off the royalties, then I'm automatically going to be suspicious of that as well.

00:23:00.820 And the other interesting thing about these, these revelations about Donald Trump, we've seen so

00:23:07.860 many tell all books about Donald Trump with either anonymous revelations, people who claim to be so

00:23:14.680 deeply concerned about what Trump did and when he was in office and all of his alleged abuses of

00:23:19.780 power, yet they remain anonymous. They won't put their name behind the accusations. Or people who wait

00:23:24.660 until they're gone. They work for Trump for years, oftentimes wait until they're fired, and then they

00:23:29.680 come out with the tell all. But what you find is that most of the time, these accusations and these

00:23:37.860 revelations, if they're even true, do not at all live up to what you would expect, given what the

00:23:46.220 media tells us about Donald Trump. Donald Trump, they tell us that he's literally Hitler, he's a

00:23:52.320 dictator, he's evil incarnate, this power mad megalomaniac, a threat to our republic, a threat 0.99

00:23:59.040 to democracy. I mean, they, they again, put him on, they very explicitly put him on par with the great 0.78

00:24:06.800 monsters of history, Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin. I'm not even sure if they would call Stalin a monster at

00:24:13.140 this point. But, and then, and then, and then Donald Trump goes, goes right in that same, that's

00:24:18.680 unholy Mount Rushmore, I suppose. And yet, in the, all of these tell all books and all these

00:24:24.700 revelations, all we ever really hear is about Donald Trump saying, being kind of a jerk and a 1.00

00:24:30.280 jackass and a boar, and being a pig, allegedly, using inappropriate language. That's the most we ever 1.00

00:24:39.400 hear. At worst, that's who Donald Trump is, which is what I kind of expected him always to be.

00:24:48.680 You never get the kind of revelations that live up to the, uh, live up to the billing from the

00:24:53.580 Democrats. All right, next, Greta Thunberg was speaking at some kind of, another climate summit.

00:24:58.160 So we've got a, basically, there's a new climate summit every week, every two weeks. And this was

00:25:03.260 Youth for Climates. And, uh, Greta Thunberg, I thought, made a very eloquent case for protecting 0.99

00:25:10.740 the environment. Listen to this.

00:25:16.020 There is no planet B. There is no planet blah. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

00:25:25.680 This is not about some expensive, politically correct, green act of bunny hugging, or blah, blah,

00:25:32.200 blah. Build back better. Blah, blah, blah. Green economy. Blah, blah, blah.

00:25:38.840 Net zero by 2050. Blah, blah, blah. Net zero. Blah, blah, blah. Climate neutral. Blah, blah, blah.

00:25:47.260 That's where we are now. That's the point we've reached. Where Greta Thunberg can get up in front 1.00

00:25:52.460 of an audience, a crowd of hundreds of people, and literally just say, blah, blah, blah.

00:25:58.620 Blah. And, uh, and that becomes an applause line. That was an actual applause line. In fact, I think

00:26:06.580 the, the, the transcript there, she said, planet blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. What? What? That doesn't

00:26:14.360 mean anything. But that, of course, means nothing. And that was a rousing applause line from the people

00:26:21.160 in the, in the audience. This, this is one of the things that sometimes makes me want to become,

00:26:27.360 you know, a leftist because you, it's, it's very easy to impress people

00:26:31.360 when you're speaking to that crowd. A very, a very easily impressed crowd. Very easy to pander to.

00:26:39.640 You don't even have to say words anymore. You can just stand in front of there. You know,

00:26:43.940 I do a lot of public speaking. Uh, you know, I give a lot of, a lot of speeches and, um, I,

00:26:48.420 I always feel this pressure. It's enormous pressure. You know, you're standing in front

00:26:52.540 of a crowd to say something meaningful. You know, I'll actually write like real words onto a page

00:26:59.360 and I'll, I'll, you know, I'll read the words, but to be able to stand there and simply say,

00:27:05.960 blah, blah, blah. And that's your speech. That is pretty amazing. Here's a video that's gone viral.

00:27:10.260 Thanks as always to the iconic libs of TikTok Twitter account, except this isn't a lib. This is a

00:27:15.800 black teacher from California. Uh, I think this is this videos from a couple of months ago, I think

00:27:19.780 because she's no longer a teacher anymore. She's left, but she's doing an unboxing video as the

00:27:25.460 kids call it showing us, uh, what gift her school district gave to her. And it would seem all of the

00:27:31.580 black educators. This is the, the little gift basket they were given watch last year. I went to 0.81

00:27:38.940 go pick up this gift from the district thinking maybe it's a, I was already pretty insulted by it,

00:27:43.580 but I wanted to see what it was. And so I went and picked it up from the district because we were

00:27:47.200 of course teaching online the whole year. And I, um, I got this, I picked up the gift and here it is

00:27:55.940 right here. Um, in it was of course the black educators matter mask, which I would never wear 1.00

00:28:03.400 in front of my students. Imagine if someone wore a white educators matter mask. 0.95

00:28:06.820 My God. Patronizing, insulting, degrading. This is why I always say as a, you know, I know that as a,

00:28:20.760 as a white man, the left hates me. I'm, I'm the, as a, as a white quote unquote, cis man. Um,

00:28:28.960 I'm the villain, right? I'm the Uber villain. And I understand that.

00:28:32.020 But I would, I would much rather be in that position and be treated that way than be infantilized

00:28:42.120 like this. I really think in a lot of ways I have it better. I would, I would rather just be

00:28:47.320 insulted and have you tell me that, uh, that I'm a scumbag and I'm a horrible person that to be 1.00

00:28:53.680 treated like a, like a child, like a, uh, a dumb child infantilized and degraded. 0.99

00:29:03.920 But it has this, cause it has the same effect in the end. It's just as insulting, 0.98

00:29:07.480 but at least with me, they're going to be pretty straightforward about it and just say, 0.93

00:29:13.280 we hate you. You're horrible. Okay, good. Fine. Um, and also we've got this, I don't know if you're 1.00

00:29:20.840 ready for some comedy, but check this out from Stephen Colbert show this, I'm not sure when this

00:29:25.620 aired. We'll only play there's, there's, there's not a big audio component of this. So only play a

00:29:30.480 few seconds of it, but this was a, I guess a comedy bit on Stephen Colbert show where they, he, he brings

00:29:37.500 on a bunch of people dressed like giant vaccine needles and they dance through the crowd doing the

00:29:43.960 cha-cha to a song about the vaccine. Just watch this.

00:29:47.540 Vaccine!

00:30:09.540 kings play

00:30:16.020 high school

00:30:17.880 in the

00:30:20.740 bottom

00:30:22.920 in

00:30:25.560 in

00:30:27.300 close

00:30:27.880 in

00:30:31.260 zu

00:30:33.240 in

00:30:35.320 so let me tell you my my conspiracy theory this this is my this is my this is my this is my

00:30:49.220 preferred conspiracy theory uh when i see videos like that which i guess i can only assume based

00:30:57.560 on context the context of this being on a late night alleged comedy show i can only assume that

00:31:03.400 there are that they're trying to accomplish two things with that with that bit uh one is they're

00:31:09.080 trying to be funny i guess again i can only assume and also they're they're trying to promote the

00:31:15.120 vaccine but when i see this and i see really every effort that's been made to promote the vaccine

00:31:24.800 by the media by hollywood by government by my biden administration

00:31:28.860 and and and almost all of them are as cringy inducing as that or worse when i see that i

00:31:36.080 think you know this is all part of a plan to make people more vaccine hesitant

00:31:40.100 this is this is not much of a conspiracy theory i think it's just become

00:31:45.000 an obvious conclusion that we have to draw

00:31:47.740 i watch that and i i think well there's there's no way that they think that's actually going to

00:31:58.040 reach anybody who hasn't been vaccinated

00:31:59.780 the only thing you can hope is that the most die-hard vaccine cultists will will see that and

00:32:06.660 maybe they'll be pleased by it and they'll get up and they'll start dancing uh in their living room or 0.91

00:32:11.380 something but there's just no way that they think that anyone who's vaccine hesitant is going to see

00:32:17.940 that and say you know what after seeing these dancing vaccine needles uh with stephen colbert

00:32:23.600 doing the cha-cha down the aisle on a late night show i think i think it's time i think i'll go out

00:32:28.400 and get the jab i think i'll go out and put this you have convinced me to put this substance into my

00:32:32.320 body i was hesitant about it i wasn't sure but now yeah i'll do it it's clearly not going to have

00:32:38.720 that effect and i don't i don't believe that they think that

00:32:41.500 i think they're trying i think they don't want those people to get vaccinated

00:32:47.860 the unvaccinated the anti-vaxxers they provide a good foil they're they're a good villain group 0.87

00:32:56.280 a very um useful villain group for the left and for the media

00:33:03.020 and they wanted to stay that way

00:33:07.240 and all of their all of the failed policies that are supposed to

00:33:13.260 you know stop the spread of the virus every single policy has failed

00:33:18.000 going back to 15 days to slow the spread up until now

00:33:22.620 um but now they have a group that they can blame

00:33:26.020 even though these policies have been failing all along

00:33:30.420 and they tell us that vaccinated people are also spreading the virus that's what they tell us

00:33:34.340 but it gives them a handy group that they can blame and i think they want that group to stay there

00:33:39.440 that's my theory all right this is from cnbc um amazon has announced a home robot called astro

00:33:47.320 astro is equipped with a rotating screen that's mounted onto a base with wheels

00:33:51.400 amazon designed the robot to appear animated and friendly with eyes and expressive body movements

00:33:56.820 that respond to user interaction

00:33:58.440 the robot can move on its own from room to room

00:34:01.180 and is capable of navigating around objects on the floor

00:34:04.240 or braking to avoid colliding with obstacles such as a pet that moves into its path

00:34:08.860 a periscope camera attached to the base of the device can be raised or lowered

00:34:13.040 to view objects that are high up

00:34:15.240 so this is a

00:34:16.520 this is a little robot like r2d2 thing that i guess you're supposed to have in your house

00:34:22.840 and it'll it'll follow you around the house

00:34:24.620 and it has a camera and it can respond to you

00:34:27.220 and it could also spy on you and see everything in your house

00:34:30.720 which is the real reason why amazon wants to put this out there

00:34:33.880 i just think i see all of these these new innovations

00:34:36.380 and i and i know and apparently this is gonna be on sale for a thousand dollars

00:34:39.720 which is less than i thought it would be

00:34:40.860 it's not on sale yet but when it is 0.99

00:34:43.080 we all know there's going to be lines around the block to buy this damn thing 0.98

00:34:46.720 and all of the people who are lining up 0.99

00:34:49.480 to spend a thousand dollars of money they don't have

00:34:52.540 uh to to put a a spy robot into their home

00:34:57.560 along with all the other spy robots they already have in their home

00:35:00.340 every single one of them if you ask them

00:35:02.660 they'll tell you that they are deeply concerned with their privacy

00:35:05.600 and they're very worried about big tech spying on them

00:35:08.600 privacy is you know you you go up to that line of people

00:35:11.960 and ask every single one of them

00:35:13.080 how important is privacy to you is it is that a big priority of yours

00:35:16.580 oh yeah absolutely

00:35:17.480 i'm very concerned with my own privacy

00:35:20.860 while they have an apple watch on

00:35:23.280 they're getting the robot to spy on them

00:35:24.620 they already have alexa

00:35:25.440 there's there's a there's a real disconnect there i think

00:35:29.640 all right let's move now to reading the comments

00:35:32.460 and badger boy says quoting uh one of the women

00:35:49.700 in that news report that we played during the cancellation yesterday

00:35:52.560 if you don't have a kid at the school why would you want to testify

00:35:55.200 badger boy says someone should tell her the vast majority of school board members

00:35:58.700 do not have kids at the school they sit on the board for that's a very good point 0.84

00:36:02.700 that's a point that i i think i have missed myself and haven't brought up very often

00:36:06.160 but yes that's an excellent point

00:36:08.140 on on these these not just allowed in county but school boards all across the country

00:36:12.980 your own school board

00:36:14.560 go take a look sometime and see how many of the people on that board

00:36:18.280 actually have kids in the district

00:36:20.400 some of them are childless some of them have kids that

00:36:23.440 have long since grown up

00:36:24.720 i mean oftentimes they'll have they'll have kids

00:36:27.500 school-aged kids but they put their own kids in private school

00:36:30.100 uh

00:36:32.420 and uh king of cali says

00:36:35.700 matt's first job was retrieving carts

00:36:37.800 his disgust with people leaving their carts

00:36:40.160 makes sense now

00:36:41.120 yeah that is my that's my origin that's my villain

00:36:43.240 oh no that's my no that's my superhero origin story

00:36:46.160 because i am a superhero when it comes to carts anyway

00:36:48.820 that is a real

00:36:50.320 that is that is where i think i demonstrate heroism in my life

00:36:54.320 um

00:36:55.500 and another comment says

00:36:57.260 matt trying to camouflage with his hotel surroundings

00:36:59.340 is actually quite an endearing quality

00:37:01.040 despite it being aesthetically jarring

00:37:04.080 uh

00:37:05.240 my style choices

00:37:07.540 i mean endearing is a word you could use for them

00:37:09.440 i've heard i've heard many other words

00:37:10.900 that are

00:37:12.480 not quite as complimentary but thank you for that

00:37:15.060 uh sp2 says

00:37:17.360 matt between this and abuela you've reached legend trolling

00:37:20.200 status

00:37:20.660 well i well thank you thank you for that

00:37:22.760 and i will tell you that

00:37:23.980 when it comes to to that

00:37:26.220 we've got more where that is

00:37:28.360 where that comes from

00:37:29.300 we're upping the ante

00:37:30.180 i can't say anything else other than that

00:37:31.960 but just stay tuned is all i'm going to say

00:37:33.620 and ej says

00:37:34.960 i like how matt is bragging about the fact that he's virginian now

00:37:37.500 like it's some sort of badge of honor

00:37:39.120 it is a badge of honor

00:37:40.660 okay ej when it's your truth

00:37:43.360 okay when it's when it's when it's something that you've wanted deep down in your bones

00:37:49.540 for as long as you can remember

00:37:52.160 to be a resident of virginia

00:37:54.000 it is something to brag about

00:37:55.160 thank you very much

00:37:56.420 and you're banned from the show

00:37:57.220 uh

00:37:58.860 scott says

00:38:00.440 i hope matt isn't going to wear skinny jeans to the school board meeting

00:38:02.760 because the people behind him won't be able to listen to him without being distracted if he is

00:38:06.480 well

00:38:06.780 scott

00:38:07.760 i don't wear skinny jeans to your band from the show

00:38:09.500 but also

00:38:10.620 there was nobody behind me in the school board meeting

00:38:12.400 because they don't let the public

00:38:13.380 remember they don't let the public into the building

00:38:14.940 to actually hear the comments

00:38:16.200 you don't have to worry about that at all

00:38:17.480 uh

00:38:18.700 and finally crystal says

00:38:22.020 matt you should start a side gig as a consultant

00:38:24.320 people could contact you if they get karen'd

00:38:26.700 before they make a statement on their social media

00:38:28.520 you could call yourself the sweet baby justice warrior

00:38:31.900 uh

00:38:32.940 i don't think anybody would hire me as a pr consultant

00:38:35.240 but i will tell you that

00:38:36.300 i think most pr consultants are

00:38:38.560 are terrible at their job

00:38:40.600 because they want to keep their job

00:38:42.020 and so you know

00:38:43.660 the real pr advice to

00:38:46.440 for for many people who find themselves

00:38:48.500 in the middle of of some big controversy

00:38:50.400 and the you know the social media mobs coming after them

00:38:53.780 the lynch mobs coming after them

00:38:55.100 in in many cases

00:38:57.760 what they should do

00:38:59.560 especially if it's a public figure

00:39:00.860 all you have to do is say nothing at all

00:39:04.260 just remain quiet

00:39:06.240 and wait for it to go away

00:39:08.220 and then pretend it never happened

00:39:09.420 because the mob almost always moves on

00:39:12.360 to the next target

00:39:13.780 that's the one thing you have going in your favor

00:39:16.780 is that yeah it's overwhelming in the moment

00:39:19.640 but these people have the memories

00:39:23.000 and the attention span of fruit flies

00:39:25.040 and they're going to move on to the next target

00:39:26.780 so just don't say anything

00:39:28.420 but i think pr consultants

00:39:30.340 if they give that advice

00:39:31.500 if they give the advice of oh don't say anything

00:39:33.040 then it's like what do we need you for

00:39:35.840 so they have they have to you know

00:39:38.040 they have to justify their jobs

00:39:40.060 by crafting some sort of statement

00:39:41.620 and say here's what our strategy is going to be

00:39:43.400 so if i was a pr consultant

00:39:46.480 that's all i would say

00:39:47.260 i'd charge you a thousand dollars

00:39:49.340 and i would say okay good

00:39:50.060 just don't say anything

00:39:50.840 and you'll be fine

00:39:52.700 you know i consider myself

00:39:54.220 to be something of a fitness guru

00:39:55.560 that might be overstating it dramatically

00:39:57.660 maybe not a fitness guru

00:39:58.640 but i do think it's important

00:39:59.500 to stay in good shape

00:40:00.380 and that's why i'm very happy

00:40:34.380 all right let's get now

00:40:35.700 to our daily cancellation

00:40:36.540 for our daily cancellation today

00:40:42.500 we must cancel will smith

00:40:44.220 we could cancel him

00:40:45.340 because he hasn't made a good movie

00:40:46.740 in 20 years

00:40:47.340 but his filmography

00:40:48.800 isn't the topic of contention today

00:40:50.180 our focus now

00:40:50.860 is on smith's

00:40:51.960 recent interview in gq

00:40:53.520 where he discusses

00:40:54.260 the beauty and wonder

00:40:55.080 of being in an open marriage

00:40:56.980 will smith is in an open marriage

00:40:58.860 with his wife jada pinkett smith

00:41:00.280 though it appears that

00:41:01.000 the marriage was initially

00:41:02.020 opened against his will

00:41:04.840 the couple infamously 0.99

00:41:06.380 sat across from each other

00:41:07.360 for a red table talk

00:41:08.680 on facebook last year

00:41:09.680 where they awkwardly

00:41:11.000 in front of the cameras

00:41:11.900 discussed an affair

00:41:13.500 that jada had years before

00:41:15.320 i've never been able to watch

00:41:17.620 more than a minute

00:41:18.340 of this conversation

00:41:19.260 because the cringe factor

00:41:20.320 is so overwhelming

00:41:21.380 but just to refresh our memories

00:41:23.260 here's a little bit

00:41:24.440 of that discussion

00:41:25.000 watch this

00:41:25.400 you

00:41:26.260 during that time

00:41:28.240 launched into

00:41:29.260 an interaction

00:41:30.520 with august

00:41:32.220 what do you feel like

00:41:33.760 you were looking for

00:41:36.860 i just wanted

00:41:38.160 to feel good

00:41:39.600 it had been so

00:41:41.720 long

00:41:43.000 since i felt

00:41:45.560 good

00:41:46.540 and it was really

00:41:48.200 a joy

00:41:48.840 to just

00:41:49.980 help heal somebody

00:41:51.640 yeah

00:41:52.100 i think that has a lot

00:41:53.840 to do with

00:41:54.780 my

00:41:55.500 codependency

00:41:56.960 which is another thing

00:41:58.780 that i had to learn

00:41:59.840 to break in this cycle

00:42:01.080 just that idea

00:42:02.360 of needing to fix

00:42:03.820 and being drawn

00:42:05.100 to people that need help

00:42:06.760 whether it's your health

00:42:07.900 or whether it's

00:42:08.720 your addictions

00:42:10.080 there's something

00:42:11.300 about

00:42:11.960 that childhood trauma

00:42:14.320 that

00:42:16.840 feels as though

00:42:18.580 it can be fixed

00:42:20.040 through

00:42:21.040 fixing people

00:42:22.260 yeah well that's one way

00:42:24.540 to put it

00:42:25.020 she was not starting

00:42:26.280 an affair

00:42:26.740 she was

00:42:27.280 as will puts it

00:42:28.120 launching into

00:42:29.260 an interaction

00:42:29.980 there's some nice

00:42:31.280 euphemistic language

00:42:32.100 that you might want to try 0.97

00:42:32.860 if you're a dirty 1.00

00:42:33.880 rotten cheater 1.00

00:42:34.480 caught in the act

00:42:35.100 oh no honey

00:42:35.580 i wasn't cheating

00:42:36.180 i was really just

00:42:36.900 i was having an interaction

00:42:38.440 you know we kind of

00:42:39.600 launched into this interaction

00:42:40.840 there was an exchange

00:42:41.840 you might say

00:42:42.500 an understanding

00:42:44.020 was reached

00:42:44.700 a meeting of the minds

00:42:46.720 and of other parts

00:42:48.160 of course i'm imagining

00:42:50.540 the cheater

00:42:51.180 making the excuses

00:42:51.940 for themselves here

00:42:52.840 but actually will smith

00:42:54.000 is the one providing

00:42:54.860 the euphemisms

00:42:55.580 to the wife

00:42:56.400 who cheated on him

00:42:57.140 and for her part

00:42:58.320 she's a little bit

00:42:58.800 more direct

00:42:59.320 because he asks

00:43:00.100 what were you looking for

00:43:01.060 when you cheated on me

00:43:01.880 and she says

00:43:02.500 i just wanted to feel good

00:43:03.560 and he says

00:43:04.900 oh okay

00:43:05.580 as if that sheds

00:43:07.300 comforting new light

00:43:08.240 on the situation

00:43:08.940 but obviously she cheated 1.00

00:43:09.980 because it made her feel good

00:43:10.840 that's why any cheater cheats

00:43:12.300 it's why any bad person

00:43:13.540 does anything bad

00:43:14.640 that's the motivating factor

00:43:16.080 behind all sin

00:43:17.040 you do it because

00:43:18.100 it makes you feel good

00:43:18.860 and you have prioritized

00:43:20.120 feeling good

00:43:20.680 over all other concerns

00:43:21.960 especially your commitments

00:43:23.440 your promises

00:43:24.020 your moral obligations

00:43:25.100 that's why every bad person

00:43:26.540 does bad things

00:43:27.160 so that was last year

00:43:29.500 now will smith is in gq

00:43:31.200 talking about his free

00:43:32.360 and open marriage

00:43:33.340 and how happy

00:43:34.220 and loving it all is

00:43:35.100 reading from the daily wire report

00:43:36.600 it says

00:43:36.940 uh quote

00:43:38.180 jada never believed

00:43:39.080 in conventional marriage

00:43:40.020 smith told gq

00:43:41.020 jada had family members

00:43:42.340 that had an unconventional relationship

00:43:43.880 so she grew up in a way

00:43:44.920 that was very different

00:43:45.680 than how i grew up

00:43:46.580 there were significant

00:43:48.040 endless discussions

00:43:48.780 about what is

00:43:49.560 relational perfection

00:43:50.900 smith recalled

00:43:51.620 and for the large part

00:43:52.980 of our relationship

00:43:53.440 monogamy was that choice 0.97

00:43:54.880 not thinking of monogamy

00:43:57.760 as the only relational perfection

00:43:59.140 the pair have

00:44:00.380 given each other

00:44:01.200 trust and freedom

00:44:02.160 within their relationship

00:44:02.920 page six noted

00:44:03.700 since marriage

00:44:05.160 can't be a prison

00:44:05.980 will smith said

00:44:06.920 quote

00:44:07.720 i don't suggest

00:44:08.420 our road for anybody

00:44:09.360 i don't suggest

00:44:10.020 this road for anybody

00:44:10.920 but the experiences

00:44:12.200 that the freedoms

00:44:12.920 that we've given

00:44:13.620 one another

00:44:14.200 and the unconditional support

00:44:15.500 to me

00:44:16.000 is the highest definition

00:44:17.140 of love

00:44:17.720 it was

00:44:19.300 a lot of that

00:44:20.000 was quite incoherent

00:44:20.860 but hopefully

00:44:21.300 you basically got the idea

00:44:22.180 the highest definition

00:44:23.140 of love is betrayal

00:44:24.380 he says

00:44:24.900 or rather

00:44:25.760 it's doing what makes

00:44:26.860 you feel good

00:44:27.460 individually

00:44:28.080 in other words

00:44:29.560 the highest love

00:44:30.280 in a marriage

00:44:30.680 is self-interest

00:44:31.800 that is what

00:44:33.080 will smith proposes

00:44:33.980 and what makes it

00:44:34.620 all the sadder

00:44:35.180 and more pitiable

00:44:35.780 is that you can tell

00:44:36.780 he doesn't really

00:44:37.440 believe a word

00:44:38.140 of what he's saying

00:44:38.700 this is how

00:44:39.720 these open marriages

00:44:40.560 work

00:44:40.980 there's usually

00:44:41.740 one member

00:44:42.340 of the couple

00:44:42.780 who feels betrayed

00:44:43.800 and is being betrayed

00:44:45.140 it has to convince

00:44:46.380 themselves that

00:44:46.960 they're not being

00:44:47.400 betrayed

00:44:47.680 when you listen

00:44:48.840 to the stories

00:44:49.440 of couples

00:44:49.920 and open marriages

00:44:50.460 you always hear

00:44:51.520 either the husband

00:44:52.100 or the wife 0.54

00:44:52.500 say yeah

00:44:52.940 you know

00:44:53.160 my spouse

00:44:53.640 decided that

00:44:54.160 it'd be a good

00:44:54.520 idea for them

00:44:55.120 to sleep

00:44:55.800 with other people

00:44:56.440 and you know

00:44:57.040 I was utterly

00:44:57.580 and completely

00:44:58.020 devastated

00:44:58.520 and destroyed

00:44:59.000 by it at first

00:44:59.620 but over time

00:45:00.440 I've learned

00:45:00.780 to accept it

00:45:01.400 and I'm really

00:45:02.340 so happy now

00:45:03.340 when I'm not

00:45:04.360 locking myself

00:45:04.960 in the bathroom

00:45:05.460 and weeping

00:45:06.080 uncontrollably

00:45:06.720 five times a day

00:45:07.460 an open marriage

00:45:08.820 is after all

00:45:09.700 betrayal as a lifestyle

00:45:11.700 and betrayal

00:45:13.060 doesn't become

00:45:13.700 any less traitorous

00:45:14.760 just because

00:45:15.240 it's done

00:45:15.780 in the open

00:45:16.420 that actually

00:45:17.820 makes it worse

00:45:18.400 if anything

00:45:18.860 because now

00:45:20.060 you've enlisted

00:45:20.700 your spouse

00:45:21.320 to be an accomplice

00:45:22.340 in your infidelity

00:45:23.160 you don't even

00:45:24.440 have the decency

00:45:25.100 to cheat in secret

00:45:25.920 and save them

00:45:26.700 the indignity

00:45:27.380 and the shame

00:45:28.180 of pretending

00:45:28.640 that they're okay

00:45:29.160 with it

00:45:29.800 an open marriage

00:45:30.840 is also an oxymoron

00:45:32.000 it's a contradiction

00:45:32.640 in terms

00:45:33.220 it's like open borders

00:45:34.600 if you open a border

00:45:36.460 then it's not a border anymore

00:45:37.600 if you open a marriage

00:45:38.520 then it's not a marriage anymore

00:45:39.420 a marriage by definition

00:45:40.720 is closed

00:45:41.360 a marriage can't be open 0.99

00:45:42.740 for the same reason

00:45:43.360 that you know

00:45:44.020 you can't build a house

00:45:45.120 without walls or a roof

00:45:46.300 the walls and the roof

00:45:47.440 are the whole point

00:45:48.220 of the house

00:45:48.760 get rid of those

00:45:49.680 and now you're homeless

00:45:50.420 a blanket laid out

00:45:52.300 on the pavement

00:45:52.880 is not an open house

00:45:54.260 or a new house

00:45:55.180 or a consensually

00:45:56.740 non-walled house

00:45:57.960 it's just not a house

00:45:59.720 it's a non-house

00:46:00.820 it's literally

00:46:01.880 the opposite of a house

00:46:02.860 and if we start calling that a house

00:46:04.660 then we haven't expanded

00:46:05.540 the definition of a house

00:46:06.520 but instead

00:46:06.920 we've done away

00:46:07.600 with the very concept

00:46:08.420 of a house entirely

00:46:09.340 and I think that would be 0.99

00:46:10.740 a very stupid thing to do 1.00

00:46:11.940 because houses 1.00

00:46:12.700 are very useful things to have

00:46:13.880 just like marriages

00:46:14.640 marriage has its own walls 0.99

00:46:16.800 and its own roof

00:46:17.500 and it's within those walls

00:46:18.900 and under that roof

00:46:19.540 that your family

00:46:20.260 must be formed

00:46:20.960 and maintained

00:46:21.640 monogamy is but one of the bricks

00:46:23.700 used to build this structure

00:46:24.960 procreativity is another

00:46:27.580 which also has been

00:46:29.020 largely abandoned

00:46:29.740 by our culture

00:46:30.400 but these building blocks

00:46:32.260 are the only things

00:46:33.280 that make a marital union

00:46:34.500 distinct from any other

00:46:35.940 kind of union

00:46:36.680 they're the whole point

00:46:38.500 of the marriage

00:46:39.040 to decide on an open marriage

00:46:41.560 is to tear down

00:46:42.220 the walls of your house

00:46:43.040 and take shelter

00:46:44.320 in the rubble

00:46:44.960 and the fact that the adultery

00:46:46.340 is mutually agreed upon

00:46:47.620 and consensual

00:46:48.580 doesn't make it any less

00:46:49.820 adulterous

00:46:50.460 or any better at all

00:46:51.460 really

00:46:51.740 our culture has developed

00:46:53.300 this idea that

00:46:53.980 it's okay to commit

00:46:55.200 an evil action

00:46:55.900 if we're open

00:46:57.020 and honest about it

00:46:58.040 but that so-called honesty

00:47:00.400 is born from your pride

00:47:01.920 and your lack of concern

00:47:03.440 for how your wickedness

00:47:04.720 will hurt those closest to you

00:47:06.120 at least a man

00:47:07.360 who hides his affair

00:47:08.320 has acknowledged first

00:47:09.280 that it's base

00:47:09.920 and shameful

00:47:10.780 and second

00:47:11.420 that it's harmful

00:47:11.960 to his family

00:47:12.560 but somebody who advertises

00:47:14.240 his infidelity 1.00

00:47:14.780 is a sociopath 1.00

00:47:15.960 with no shame 0.99

00:47:16.800 he's much further

00:47:18.160 from redemption

00:47:18.880 I think

00:47:19.300 and his marriage

00:47:19.800 much further from healing

00:47:20.780 than the guy

00:47:21.980 who claims

00:47:22.480 that he's staying late

00:47:23.160 for work

00:47:23.540 so that he can meet

00:47:24.120 his mistress

00:47:24.660 at a motel 6

00:47:25.440 I mean it's all bad

00:47:27.400 in the end

00:47:27.960 of course

00:47:30.360 and it's why

00:47:32.180 fidelity

00:47:32.640 is the much better course

00:47:33.880 that's where you have

00:47:35.660 a real marriage

00:47:36.360 a loving marriage

00:47:38.260 a marriage

00:47:39.280 that is

00:47:39.760 actually a marriage

00:47:41.140 and that is why

00:47:43.160 Will Smith today

00:47:44.100 much like his marriage

00:47:45.400 I must say

00:47:46.420 is cancelled

00:47:47.500 and we'll leave it there
