00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, with war raging in Europe, our leaders here at home are focused on
00:00:04.220 the important things, namely outlawing lynching. But isn't that already illegal? And why does it
00:00:08.860 need to be illegal again? And why are they worried about that? Why now of all times? We'll sort through
00:00:13.180 all that today. Also, there's so much propaganda flying around about the war in Ukraine that
00:00:17.280 it can be hard to keep things straight or to know exactly what's going on. It's probably no
00:00:20.680 surprise, though, that the people pushing the propaganda are also the people who want to push
00:00:23.900 our country into a direct armed conflict with Russia. We'll discuss and Democrats try and fail
00:00:28.780 to pass a federal law permanently enshrining Roe, regardless of the Supreme Court's decision. Plus,
00:00:34.780 Kamala Harris goes off script. Joe Biden can barely walk. And John Oliver makes the case for
00:00:39.380 decriminalizing prostitution across the country. I'll explain why he's wrong and also why he's
00:00:44.360 canceled. All of that and more today on the Matt Wall Show. You know, a common question I get from
00:00:57.580 my listeners is, what can I do to help turn the tide and the culture war? The answer is a simple
00:01:02.100 one. Know your ideals and fight for them. One of the truths that I'm constantly talking about is the
00:01:06.100 truth that life begins upon conception. The fact that the left is actively trying to erase. We have
00:01:10.740 to fight tooth and nail to defend the lives of these babies. And if you want to join this fight, here is
00:01:14.300 one way to do it. By disconnecting your current phone service provider who doesn't care about the
00:01:17.900 life of the children and lives of children. In fact, it's probably very much against you when it comes to
00:01:22.720 that issue and every other issue and switch instead to Charity Mobile, a phone service that does care
00:01:28.240 about life. Charity Mobile will donate 5% of your monthly plan price to pro-life charities of your
00:01:32.700 choice, all while giving you access to the latest 5G phones with great nationwide coverage. If this
00:01:37.460 sounds like a hassle, I assure you it isn't. Charity Mobile makes switching from their current carrier
00:01:42.180 painless. Their live customer service is exceptional and they'll guide you through the process. You can keep
00:01:46.200 your number and phone or if you want, you can even take advantage of my special offer and get a free
00:01:50.320 cell phone with free activation. All you have to do is call 1-877-474-3662 or chat with them online
00:01:55.920 at charitymobile.com and mention offer code Walsh to redeem your free phone and free activation.
00:02:00.800 That's charitymobile.com and mention offer code Walsh. Join the fight for the life of children by
00:02:06.740 switching to Charity Mobile today. Well, these are volatile times, dangerous times. War has already broken
00:02:12.780 out in Eastern Europe. If the crisis is not handled with prudence and resolve and restraint and foresight,
00:02:19.060 the conflict could well spread across the globe, sending us barreling headfirst into another world
00:02:24.680 war. This is a time for competent, assured, intelligent leadership. It's unfortunate then
00:02:31.640 that the Western world is led by the most pathetic collection of morally bankrupt halfwits our
00:02:36.660 civilization has ever seen. These are the people we must entrust to guide us through this calamity
00:02:42.120 without getting 50 million people killed in the process. Frankly, I don't love the odds right now.
00:02:46.620 And I'm not feeling any better today considering what happened in D.C. last night. With the world
00:02:51.960 teetering on the brink of nuclear destruction, Congress, which can never be accused of having
00:02:56.620 its priorities straight, got together to work on making lynching illegal. Yes, that violent act,
00:03:02.960 which literally hasn't occurred one single time in this country in at least 40 years, that's the
00:03:08.640 thing they decided to focus on. They might as well pass a law prohibiting the use of giant catapults to
00:03:14.200 stormed fortresses. Maybe next they can finally legally ban people from burning witches at the
00:03:19.520 stake. How about a law once again abolishing the transatlantic slave trade? Now, I'm not being totally
00:03:26.460 fair. They didn't just work on outlawing lynching. They also tried to do some other things like they
00:03:31.180 tried to pass a bill banning something called hair discrimination. That's hair discrimination.
00:03:37.760 It's called the Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair or Crown Act, and it would
00:03:44.620 make it illegal to discriminate against hairstyles worn by black people. Now, you might be thinking that
00:03:49.520 discrimination against black people is already illegal, and it is, but this bill would make a
00:03:55.520 black person's hairstyle its own protected class. So black people would be protected from discrimination
00:04:01.660 twice over, once for their whole body and then a second time for the top of their heads.
00:04:05.940 Eventually, I'm sure Democrats will pass laws specifically protecting each marginalized body
00:04:11.100 part individually. So we've covered head discrimination. What about shoulder discrimination?
00:04:15.560 What about knees and toes and eyes and ears and mouth and nose? Head, shoulders, knees and toes,
00:04:19.320 knees and toes. You can tell I have a two-year-old at home. Sorry about that. But the Dreadlock Protection
00:04:23.600 Act of 2022 didn't pass. That was one bit of empty virtue signaling that Republicans refused to go
00:04:29.880 along with. The same cannot be said for the Anti-Lynching Act, however, which was an even more
00:04:35.860 dangerous and grotesque form of virtue signaling. But as for that, Republicans were fully on board,
00:04:41.880 save for three. There were three Republicans who rightfully voted against the measure, including
00:04:46.160 Thomas Massey from Kentucky, who's one of the only good ones left. But they were not enough to prevent
00:04:53.460 this bill from passing. And so the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act was passed with near unanimous support
00:05:00.820 from both parties. And the bill now makes it a federal hate crime to lynch somebody or to conspire
00:05:07.020 to lynch somebody. Now, before the bill's passage, various members of Congress took turns, you know,
00:05:12.300 standing on the floor of Congress, bravely denouncing this despicable act, which was already illegal
00:05:17.360 and which doesn't happen anymore at all to anybody. Squad member Cori Bush, of course, made sure to get
00:05:23.920 her time in the spotlight. Listen to her. Those who survived the Middle Passage survived only to be
00:05:30.120 brought onto these shores, bought and sold at auctions like the goods their forced labor was
00:05:35.980 producing. These auctions launched a longstanding practice in America in which white folks, including
00:05:43.360 white women, scrutinize and violate the bodies of black people, especially black women. We're going to
00:05:49.980 tell the truth today. Black adults and black children enslaved and forced to endure being
00:05:56.700 tormented, being tortured, being raped by white slave owners on owners on slave ships and on the
00:06:03.720 plantations. Our ancestors tried to escape the bondage of slavery just to be hunted, captured,
00:06:13.020 imprisoned, executed, executed. Executed. Why is she talking about this? Why is she talking about
00:06:21.260 slavery? And why does she pretend that in denouncing slavery, she's bravely telling a truth that nobody
00:06:26.960 else will say out loud? Oh, we're going to tell the truth today. Oh, how brave about slavery.
00:06:34.640 I was joking before about the Democrats outlawing slavery all over again. Maybe that's really where
00:06:39.800 this is headed. And I guess I can see why. The Democrats were all in favor of slavery the first
00:06:44.240 time around. So it's only fair to give them a chance to, you know, get on the right side of the
00:06:47.640 issue. But as for the Anti-Lynching Act, two points must be emphasized. One, as discussed, nobody is
00:06:55.980 getting lynched in modern America. Thank God. The last case was in 1981, five years before I was born.
00:07:03.880 And that was an extraordinary event because it was the first such occurrence in decades.
00:07:07.540 So since my parents were born, you could count the number of lynchings on maybe like one hand and you
00:07:13.660 may not need all your fingers. Since I was born, it hasn't happened at all. Not once anywhere in the
00:07:20.400 country. Now, does that mean that it should be legal? Of course not. And the good news is that it's not
00:07:27.160 legal. It's always been illegal. If you lynch a person today with or without this bill, you will go to
00:07:34.820 prison for a very long time. Though ironically, with this bill, you may actually go to prison
00:07:39.220 for a shorter length of time than you otherwise would have. Because the legislation prescribes a
00:07:44.820 sentence of not more than 30 years. Now, I would have thought that lynching should carry a life
00:07:49.540 sentence or a death sentence. But, you know, that's just me. I guess I'm tougher on lynching than
00:07:54.640 the Democrats are. In fact, lynching isn't just already illegal. Race-based lynching, lynchings
00:08:03.280 committed for racist reasons are illegal twice over. Okay, because lynching is murder or attempted
00:08:09.440 murder, which is illegal. If it's racially motivated, then it's race-based violence, which is already a
00:08:14.900 hate crime. So no black people are getting lynched in America. But if such a horrific event did occur,
00:08:21.260 it would already be illegal twice. Illegal on the state and the federal level. Illegal and then
00:08:28.900 illegal again. So this law makes it illegal a third time. Why stop there? Let's make it illegal four
00:08:35.220 times. Let's make it illegal every year. By 2030, we should have over 10 laws outlawing a crime that
00:08:42.600 nobody is committing anyway. By the way, this is true even if you expand the definition of lynching to
00:08:49.380 include things that are not lynching, which is what the left has done. In order to make the case that
00:08:53.740 lynching is still a problem in the United States, what they'll always do is they'll say, well, George
00:08:58.020 Floyd was a lynching victim or Ahmaud Arbery. But words have meanings and those don't apply.
00:09:06.860 If lynching now just means any violence committed against a black man by a white man for allegedly racist
00:09:12.740 reasons, well, again, that's already illegal. The Wikipedia article lynching in the United States
00:09:19.400 actually lists Ahmaud Arbery as a victim. If you go to Wikipedia and you trust them as a source, they have a
00:09:25.080 list of all the victims of lynching. And they have, according to them, there's been one case of lynching
00:09:30.580 in the 21st century and Ahmaud Arbery was the victim. Except that he was not lynched. And anyway, his killers
00:09:38.880 have already been convicted of murder and a hate crime. So even under the expanded definition of
00:09:46.460 lynching, in fact, especially under the expanded definition, there's no need for this law. It
00:09:51.460 already exists. So what is the point? I mean, why are they doing this? Well, the primary point,
00:09:59.720 obviously, is to virtue signal, treating the law itself like it's some kind of Twitter hashtag.
00:10:04.740 Now, all of these lawmakers can appear in campaign videos declaring that they bravely took a stand and
00:10:11.100 finally, once and for all, banned this terrible practice. They'll just hope that their constituents are
00:10:17.300 too stupid to realize that it was already banned and also that they were wasting time on this empty stunt
00:10:22.260 while the world stood at the precipice of nuclear annihilation. But there's something else, too. And this is what
00:10:28.820 makes this more than an empty stunt and more than just a silly and pointless symbolic gesture, but something
00:10:34.600 far more sinister as well. This is also why spineless Republicans should have refused to go along with
00:10:39.580 the charade, but they didn't refuse because they're well spineless. And that is this. The law is meant to
00:10:45.580 send a message that lynching is still a current and urgent problem in the United States. That's what
00:10:53.440 this is. It's psychological conditioning. It's kind of like, you know, if you stand in a crowd and you look
00:10:58.640 up at the sky inquisitively, everybody else will look up, too. They'll assume that because you're looking up
00:11:03.360 there, there must be something there. And so when Congress passes a law banning lynching for the third time,
00:11:10.220 stupid people will assume that, OK, well, if they had to pass a law banning lynching, then I guess it still
00:11:15.900 happens. So this is all part of the overarching effort to paint our country as systemically racist against
00:11:22.640 minorities, which it is not. It is a narrative booster, most of all. And that's what our leaders
00:11:29.020 are concerned with at a time like this, because they're not leaders. We have no leaders in this
00:11:34.620 country, only parasites and con artists playing the part. Now let's get to our five headlines.
00:11:40.740 Are you having trouble finding good meat to buy at the store? You know, when my wife goes grocery
00:11:50.940 shopping for the household because she always goes, she doesn't trust me to do it. She comes
00:11:54.520 home to tell me horror stories about the nearly empty shelves and the only options that remain
00:11:58.100 are unappealing and cheap cuts of meat. Well, good thing we don't rely on the grocery store for our
00:12:02.640 meat. Thanks to Good Ranchers, we are eating well every single night. Good Ranchers is a meat delivery
00:12:06.980 service that delivers prime American-grown cuts directly to your door. They offer everything
00:12:10.860 from steaks, burgers, chicken, and even seafood. And the best part, getting this delicious meat
00:12:15.060 painlessly delivered actually saves money and gives you better quality than the cheap cuts you find at
00:12:19.360 store. Good Ranchers also offers a subscription service, so you can schedule how often you want
00:12:24.160 their boxes delivered, and you'll save even more than purchasing just one box. Now, thanks to me,
00:12:29.080 my family eats premium meat every night. I guess I can give my wife some credit, too. No, I'll give
00:12:33.420 myself all the credit for that. So be like my family and eat well every night without
00:12:36.940 breaking the bank by visiting goodranchers.com slash Walsh. And just to spice this offer up some
00:12:41.620 more, if you use my code Walsh at checkout, you can get an additional $30 off your first order.
00:12:46.260 That's goodranchers.com slash Walsh to get $30 off your first order of great American meat from
00:12:51.860 Good Ranchers. All right, sorry I missed the show yesterday. I'm a deadbeat. I actually had to call
00:12:56.820 out sick, if you can believe it. I think the first time I've ever done that, that I can remember.
00:13:02.220 And it was worse because I didn't really call out. I was already here in the building.
00:13:05.300 And I got to the office even earlier than usual. So, you know, and I was working on my show and I
00:13:10.260 was doing show prep and I started to feel a little bit off and I began to rapidly deteriorate and I
00:13:16.680 ended up getting hit hard with a stomach bug. And I'll spare you the details unless you really want
00:13:21.040 them, but I assume you don't. And so I had to go into my boss's office and like ask to go home.
00:13:25.520 It was pretty humiliating. And I'm just, I'm humiliated to be sick, like some kind of mere mortal.
00:13:30.120 And I haven't, then I was thinking about it. I don't think I've had to do anything like that
00:13:34.300 since grade school. That's the last time I called out sick for something. But back then I was almost
00:13:38.720 always making it up. So that's the big difference. So here I, you know, I went home and I was just,
00:13:45.000 I was in bed like all day and my wife got me popsicles and crackers and Gatorade.
00:13:49.640 And it was kind of nice to be honest. I remembered why I enjoyed being sick back in, back in high school
00:13:54.460 so much. It's more enjoyable when you're not really sick and you're pretending, but it still was,
00:13:58.080 it was kind of nice. And I was thinking I might start cashing this chip in more often. Who knows?
00:14:03.100 Because sometimes people can have stomach bugs that flare up on a semi-regular basis,
00:14:08.140 say like twice a month or something. You know, it happens. A lot of times it'll hit on a Friday,
00:14:12.280 really, really weird, sort of like scientific phenomenon. And so you never know what might
00:14:16.540 happen. All right. Let's, I want to start with this. It's from the Daily Wire. It says,
00:14:21.600 prominent anti-Trump Republican representative Adam Kinzinger fell for an infamous hoax last week,
00:14:26.860 tweeting support for comedian Sam Hyde, whom Kinzinger apparently believed to be the so-called
00:14:31.520 ghost of Kiev due to a poorly photoshopped tweet. Kinzinger captioned in a now deleted tweet,
00:14:38.740 the ghost of Kiev has a name and has absolutely owned the Russian air force. Godspeed and more kills.
00:14:45.280 Samuel. Fans of Hyde's are known for trying to dupe journalists and others by falsely claiming Hyde is
00:14:51.520 the culprit or hero in various events and means supporters often reply or caption the hoax post
00:14:57.060 saying something like he can't keep getting away with this. So this is what, um, Adam Kinzinger was
00:15:01.860 doing. And look, the truth is that there's been a ton of propaganda lies, otherwise known, um, flying
00:15:11.040 around, you know, part, pardon the pun. Um, in this case with, with the ghost of Kiev, there was even a,
00:15:16.980 a video, which turned out to be a video from a video game, which, uh, supposedly showed this ghost of Kiev.
00:15:22.540 But the volume of propaganda and the speed with which it is disseminated is unlike, um, anything I,
00:15:29.600 I think I've, I've seen. And this stuff matters and it matters especially when guys like Kinzinger
00:15:36.340 are propping up the narrative. So, I mean, the ghost of Kiev was fake. Um, they also told us about the
00:15:44.700 heroes of Snake Island who chose death rather than surrender to the Russians. And I almost,
00:15:50.440 I almost said I, I, on Friday, I heard about that story right, right before the show on Friday.
00:15:57.080 And my first reaction was, I don't know if I believe this.
00:16:02.640 And, uh, almost said it on the show. I stopped myself from saying it because in case I'm wrong,
00:16:06.460 you know, it's, it's, um, I didn't want to be the guy that was doubting the, um,
00:16:09.640 uh, the people who courageously gave their lives. And that, that's one of the reasons why this,
00:16:14.680 this propaganda spread so rapidly because, you know, you don't want to be the one,
00:16:18.440 especially if you don't have any evidence that it's false. And when it comes to this stuff,
00:16:21.580 like we're all, none of us are there. So we can only, we just get this information and, uh,
00:16:28.140 we can't know if something's true or false until other information comes along.
00:16:31.980 But, um, you know, that was the story about the, the heroes of Snake Island who, um,
00:16:36.400 he was, I think it was supposedly 13 Ukrainians who told a Russian warship to go F themselves
00:16:42.500 and then died heroically rather than surrender. Well, it turns out that, um, they did indeed
00:16:47.000 surrender and are currently, you know, alive and doing fine physically. Um, they told us about a
00:16:52.460 Russian tank that chased down a Ukrainian civilian vehicle and crushed it. There was video of that,
00:16:57.940 but now it seems that the tank was actually Ukrainian. And when you watch that video again,
00:17:03.880 you see the video and you see the tank and you say, well, how do we know that's a Russian tank?
00:17:09.260 And the video is oddly cropped too, because it, it, it, anytime you see like an eight second video
00:17:14.680 that carefully cuts off everything that happened before and after that should send up some red flags.
00:17:21.160 And that was the case there. Um, there have been pictures floating around of Ukrainian
00:17:25.700 President Zelensky and body armor on the battlefield that were actually taken months ago.
00:17:29.760 Other pictures of Ukrainian supermodels charging to the front lines, holding what turned out to be
00:17:34.880 airsoft rifles. I mean, there's this whole narrative about, about basically supermodels who
00:17:40.420 are charging to the front lines and shooting the bad guys. And, um, I mean, maybe that's happening.
00:17:45.860 I'm not there. It sounds suspiciously cinematic and like something Hollywood would come up with.
00:17:50.820 And a lot of the videos turn out to be fake. And a lot of the photographs too. There was a viral
00:17:56.780 video of a Ukrainian girl standing up to a Russian soldier and berating him and saying, you know,
00:18:01.800 get out of the country. Well, you can't really tell what you're saying because it's in a foreign
00:18:04.800 language. That's the other problem. There's a, there's a, uh, a language barrier here. The problem
00:18:09.580 with that video is that, uh, it was obviously taken in the desert in summertime. The little girl's
00:18:15.100 wearing like a tank top and, uh, it's winter time in Ukraine right now and there's snow everywhere.
00:18:22.100 So these are all lies and there are many others along with, you know, a whole collection of
00:18:25.620 dramatic and suspicious stories that haven't yet been totally debunked, but, um, but haven't been
00:18:30.180 proven either. Like the story that Russian, uh, Russia sent mobile crematoriums onto the battlefield
00:18:36.460 to burn their dead bodies and hide their losses. I mean, that has not been confirmed,
00:18:43.760 but that was another story that was spread. Everybody was spreading it sends up a red flag
00:18:48.740 for me. I don't know. Speaking of the, of Russia's losses, Ukraine says it's killed almost 5,000
00:18:55.980 Russian troops in a few days, nearly doubling the number of Americans killed in Afghanistan in 20
00:19:01.100 years. Seems like an extraordinary figure. Um, maybe it's true. I, you know, I don't know.
00:19:08.720 And if it is true, you'd think we'd have seen video by now of battlefields littered with dead
00:19:15.560 bodies. We haven't really seen that. Um, maybe that's because they're taking the bodies and
00:19:21.500 throwing them into the mobile crematorium. I mean, that's the narrative anyway. It sounds
00:19:26.980 extraordinary. I mean, it's extraordinary. 5,000. I mean, it's extraordinary. 5,000 killed in action
00:19:34.340 in less than a week being covered up by, by this battalion of, of, uh, of mobile crematoriums.
00:19:41.460 It's an, that's an extraordinary thing. Doesn't mean it didn't happen. Doesn't mean it's not
00:19:45.000 happening right now, but it is extraordinary. And that's why you need more evidence before you believe
00:19:49.060 it. So, um, and, and this is the problem that to, to know what's happening in Ukraine,
00:19:56.620 Ukraine, we have to rely on some collection of foreign governments, our government and the media.
00:20:05.520 Now, as it happens, I trust no one and nothing less than I trust foreign governments, our government
00:20:12.200 and the media. They have all earned my distrust and yours. And then you add on top of that,
00:20:19.680 that just the general fog of war that you always have. And the fact that Ukraine, you know, we're
00:20:25.160 getting all this information from Ukraine and they have a reason to put propaganda out. It's
00:20:29.400 actually, it's a smart strategy for them. Propaganda is part of waging any war, especially
00:20:35.320 in the internet age, the information age. And they, they're certainly, they're winning the
00:20:41.120 propaganda battle, at least in the West by a large margin. So I understand why they do it. It makes a lot
00:20:47.940 of sense. I would do it too. If I was, uh, you know, Ukrainian in charge of these things.
00:20:57.720 But for those of us who care about the truth, we still want to know what's actually happening.
00:21:01.360 And this really matters. Okay. Because I know when we, when we, um, when we talk about this and
00:21:07.280 those of us who have pointed out that some of this stuff, it's really not true. There's, there's
00:21:10.920 actually not just some stuff. There's a lot of stuff we're being told that just isn't true.
00:21:13.980 And then other stuff that sounds like it, there's a very good chance it's not true. Although we just
00:21:19.260 don't know. And anytime, um, any of us say that we're always shouted down and we're told that,
00:21:27.000 oh, just let it, it's, it's, it's for morale. They understand morale for the Ukrainian troops,
00:21:32.960 but we're not Ukrainian troops. If you want to go fight for Ukraine, by the way, Zelensky has,
00:21:37.280 has sent the offer up and said, anyone is welcome to come. We'll give you a gun. So,
00:21:40.900 you know, anyone in this country who really, um, feels strongly about it can, can go do that. But,
00:21:46.420 um, most of us, we're not Ukrainian troops. So do we need propaganda for our morale? What does that
00:21:52.380 mean? And there's something more insidious happening because guys like Adam Kinzinger,
00:21:59.820 right? They're the ones in America who are amplifying this propaganda.
00:22:04.780 them. And Adam Kinzinger also insists, as he insisted last week, that the fate of the West
00:22:12.000 depends on the U.S. establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine, which would be an act of war against
00:22:17.640 Russia. Okay. And others have echoed this call. Yesterday, Richard Engel, one of the, uh, NBC's,
00:22:23.760 one of NBC's most prominent correspondents floated the idea that the U.S. should go in and bomb
00:22:28.200 Russian convoys heading into Ukraine. Another act of war that would suck us into a potentially
00:22:33.680 cataclysmic confrontation with a nuclear superpower. And of course, there's, there's a,
00:22:40.400 there's a contradiction here because Kinzinger, along with, um, advocating for things that would
00:22:46.540 get us involved in a world war and saying that the fate of the West depends on us getting involved
00:22:51.220 and, you know, shutting down the airspace and, uh, fighting the Russians. He says that on one
00:22:56.840 hand, but then on the other hand, he's gloating that Russia is a paper tiger and they're easily
00:23:01.940 getting their butts whooped. Well, okay. I mean, I could buy the, the latter narrative, but if that's
00:23:07.860 the, if that's true, then how does the fate of the West depend on us getting involved? It's
00:23:12.100 according to you, they're a paper tiger. The Ukraine's doing a good job handling them.
00:23:15.820 How can these both be true? How can they be a paper tiger and the fate of the West,
00:23:20.360 the very fate of our civilization depends on us getting involved? Makes no sense.
00:23:27.340 Um, all we know is that war is good for the media business. It's also good for the neocon business.
00:23:36.060 And so it's no surprise to see guys like Kinzinger pushing this stuff.
00:23:40.800 You know, there are people in our country, this again is why it matters to call it the propaganda
00:23:45.280 and to want to know the truth. That's all we're asking for. Just tell me what's really going on.
00:23:49.800 I, that's all I want to know. That's it.
00:23:54.820 And it's really important because there are people in this country who want to get us involved in a
00:23:58.560 world war. That's what they want. That's why it disturbs me. I, you know, Senator Rob Portman,
00:24:04.780 a Republican, he was, he was on meet the press on Sunday. And he said that, um, and I've heard this
00:24:09.940 before that, you know, he said that people are more united now, um, around Ukraine than they've been
00:24:15.800 in our country since nine 11. You know, he said, this is just, it's just like right after nine 11,
00:24:19.520 people are very united. Well, the unity, I hate to be the guy, uh, peeing in the punch bowl here,
00:24:26.640 but the unity after nine 11 was used to propel us into two decades of disastrous and pointless wars
00:24:33.160 overseas. So, and there are those who wish to repeat that performance,
00:24:38.560 but you can't question it or contradict the narrative or dump on the pro war parade.
00:24:45.420 Because if you do, you're, you're a, you're a stooge of Putin. And this has been the message,
00:24:49.600 a message that, um, Hillary Clinton among others has been, um, has been spreading. She was on cable
00:24:55.240 news. Yes. I think she was on MSNBC and she was there excoriating the fictional pro Putin demographic
00:25:01.220 in our country. Let's listen to that. We have to also make sure that within our own country,
00:25:07.400 um, we are calling out those people, uh, who are giving aid and comfort to Vladimir Putin,
00:25:14.440 who are talking about what a genius he is, what a smart move it is, uh, who are unfortunately,
00:25:20.600 uh, being broadcast, uh, by Russian, uh, media, uh, not only inside Russia, but in, uh, Europe to
00:25:28.680 demonstrate the division within our own country. Um, so it's, uh, it's people giving aid and comfort
00:25:37.760 to Putin. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney was on, um, cable news as well. And, uh, he said that those who,
00:25:45.140 uh, you know, he's, he's also going after this alleged pro Putin group of Republicans. And he said
00:25:51.680 that they're, uh, they are actually treasonous. They're committing treason. Let's, or, or, or rather
00:25:55.600 he says they're, they're nearly treasonous. They're, they're almost very close to treason.
00:25:59.300 Let's listen. No place in, in either political party, uh, for this white nationalism or racism,
00:26:06.520 it's simply wrong. Uh, it's, it's, uh, as, as you've indicated, speaking of evil, uh, it's evil as
00:26:12.700 well. And, uh, and, you know, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar, I don't know them, but I'm reminded
00:26:18.060 of that old line from the Butch Cassidy, the Sundance kid movie, where, where one character says,
00:26:22.620 morons, I've got morons on my team. And I have to think anybody that would sit down with white
00:26:27.520 nationalists and speak at their conference was certainly missing a few, I keep IQ points.
00:26:32.500 And just more broadly, the pro Putin sentiment that you are seeing from some corners of your party.
00:26:40.780 Well, a lot of those people are, are changing their stripes as they're seeing, uh, the, uh,
00:26:45.480 the response of the world and the political response here in the U S but how anybody, how anybody
00:26:51.960 in this country, which loves freedom can side with Vladimir Putin, which is an oppressor,
00:26:59.540 a dictator, he kills people. Uh, he, he, he, he imprisons. That's, that's good. Yeah. That's a
00:27:06.240 good question. I mean, how could anybody in this country side with Vladimir Putin? Yep. I have the
00:27:11.880 same question because nobody is doing that. Nobody of note, nobody, nobody prominent
00:27:17.700 siding with Vladimir Putin aid and comfort to Putin. Who's doing that? What does that even mean?
00:27:24.480 By the way, I wouldn't know how to give aid and comfort to a foreign dictator, even if I wanted
00:27:29.500 to, what would I do? Send him a care package, maybe a gift basket from pro flowers. How does that work
00:27:34.220 exactly? Well, I can speak, I can speak for myself. Um, and this is something that I shouldn't need to say
00:27:42.020 out loud, but, um, no, I don't support Putin, nor do I wish to give him aid and comfort. I don't,
00:27:48.380 I don't, first of all, support any foreign leader. I don't even support most of our own leaders. I
00:27:52.580 especially don't support Putin who's an anti-American dictator. So it's not a tough call for me.
00:27:58.420 He's also the aggressor in this situation, invading a foreign country. I'm always going to side.
00:28:04.680 Um, most of the time, anyway, it's a pretty easy call to side with the people who are defending
00:28:10.140 their homeland who are being invaded. And when the person doing the invasion is an anti-American
00:28:15.900 dictator, well, again, easy call, but I also don't like being lied to. And right now we're
00:28:23.300 being lied to by lots of people about a lot of things. And I don't like that. Um, this is also
00:28:30.260 why the outbreak of virtue signaling is, is not only, you know, annoying, but troubling all the people
00:28:35.800 who are, you know, it's one thing people put the Ukrainian flag in their, in their, uh, Twitter
00:28:39.840 bio or whatever. I mean, personally, I am not going to march under even symbolically, even,
00:28:45.220 even virtually any flag under other than the United States flags. I'm not putting any, I'm
00:28:49.340 not putting any foreign flag in my bio. People are doing that. They're, you know, hashtag
00:28:52.700 stand with Ukraine. They're changing their profile pics, all that kind of stuff. Okay. I mean, it's,
00:28:57.400 it's, it's, it's, it's an empty gesture or whatever, but then, then we move on. People are dumping
00:29:02.200 their Russian vodka down the sink that you already bought. Okay. We're going to, and there are even
00:29:08.920 governors who are outlawing Russian vodka, even though, you know, much of the vodka in the United
00:29:14.680 States actually isn't from Russia. It's already been purchased. And anyway, we're still importing
00:29:20.380 20 million barrels of Russian oil per month. So that that's, I think the perfect picture of empty
00:29:26.300 virtue signaling is we're going to dump the Russian vodka down the sink and take our Russian nesting
00:29:30.560 dolls and waterboard them and toss them in the ocean. Maybe burn our Tolstoy, you know, Russian
00:29:35.080 literature. If you have any Russian dressing in the, in the fridge, go throw that out while we're
00:29:39.300 still importing 20 million barrels, 600,000 barrels. I think it is a day of Russian oil.
00:29:46.020 You want to hurt Russia, you stop doing that, but we're not going to stop doing that.
00:29:50.660 But all the virtue saying people get caught up in this fervor and they start dumping their vodka
00:29:54.480 and doing all this stuff, which, which by the way, I mean, go ahead and dump the vodka anyway,
00:29:57.400 because it's disgusting, but people doing this, it just shows how easily manipulated they are.
00:30:01.140 And then I worry that if next thing, you know, we're marching into a world war,
00:30:10.140 um, there are a lot of people are going to march lockstep along with it. So that's my concern.
00:30:16.880 All right. So from the, um, from the national review, here's some good news says this, this
00:30:23.520 evening, the Senate failed, failed to proceed to a vote on the women's health protection act,
00:30:27.800 a radical piece of pro-abortion legislation that codifies, codifies Roe versus Wade, establishing
00:30:33.380 a fundamental right to abortion on demand and nullifies state pro-life laws across the country.
00:30:38.820 It was a 46 to 48 vote with six senators not voting the bill, which passed the house last fall with
00:30:45.420 the support of every Democrat, but one is now effectively dead far from achieving these 60
00:30:48.960 votes needed to proceed to vote. It didn't even achieve 50 votes. So I think I sold them short a little
00:30:54.660 bit. Not only were Democrats last night spending their time trying to outlaw lynching and outlaw
00:31:02.060 hair discrimination, whatever the hell that is. Um, they were also fighting for the right to continue
00:31:07.300 murder murdering babies, no matter what the Supreme court says. And, um, lots of, uh, Democrats got up
00:31:12.700 on the floor of the Senate and, you know, spoke out in favor of killing babies, including Chuck Schumer.
00:31:18.500 Let's listen to what he had to say. Across the country, it is a dark, dark time for women's
00:31:23.680 reproductive rights. Last year, we saw the most, the most abortion restrictions passed by state
00:31:31.840 legislatures in a single year. Some of them were almost vicious. The vigilantism of Texas's law I call
00:31:38.900 vicious vigilantism. Many of these new laws are downright extreme, effectively extinguishing women's
00:31:46.500 ability to even exercise their rights at all. And the new extreme restrictions fly largely in the
00:31:54.660 face of public opinion. They also fly in the face of common health, common sense health practices.
00:32:01.500 And frankly, they fly against common decency itself. And sadly, it seems like the Supreme court is close
00:32:08.740 to drastically restricting this long established right in the coming months. So there's, uh, there's
00:32:14.880 Chuck Schumer, you know, speaking of valiantly for the right to kill babies, because that's what,
00:32:19.740 I mean, think about with war happening in the world. And again, the possibility, especially with
00:32:26.600 the incompetent people running the country that we could get involved in a world war, this, their,
00:32:31.060 their bloodlust is not satisfied. What they're thinking about is, is how can we make sure more
00:32:35.640 people die? They're, they're very concerned that in the near future, depending on what the Supreme
00:32:39.900 court decides, even though if the Supreme court decides to strike down Roe v. Wade, um, it will
00:32:45.480 not mean, unfortunately that abortion is illegal. Now automatically across the entire country,
00:32:50.400 it will still be legal in many of the most populated cities and States. It just goes back
00:32:56.440 to the States to decide, but they're worried that, um, in the near future, fewer babies will
00:33:02.620 be killed. They're very concerned about that. And they want to do what they can to, uh, make
00:33:06.660 sure codifying this into law, superseding the Supreme court and make sure that babies can still
00:33:11.920 be killed all across the country. That's what they're concerned about with the women's health
00:33:16.160 protection act, which I also don't have to point out, but I will. They're talking about the women's
00:33:22.940 health protection act, but they can't tell you what a woman is. That should be the first thing that you
00:33:29.800 do. Maybe this should be a law. And if I were in charge, this would be a law that you cannot pass a law
00:33:36.240 with woman or women's in the title, unless you begin in the language of the bill. The very first
00:33:44.140 thing that you do should be to define what the word woman is. I mean, if you're going to make a
00:33:51.500 law about women's health, then I think to begin with, we're all going to have the really logical
00:33:57.960 question, which is, well, what is that exactly? Who are you talking about? Whose health? I don't know
00:34:01.880 what you mean. So you just have to start by defining woman, which of course they can.
00:34:07.220 All right. So moving on, Kamala Harris is really bad when she stays on script, even worse when she
00:34:14.680 goes off script. And so this is a moment here that will play for you. If you haven't seen this yet,
00:34:18.900 if you haven't seen it yet, you'll, you'll see it now. Then you're going to, you're going to see
00:34:21.820 and hear it many more times after this, because this is going to appear in every GOP campaign ad for
00:34:27.300 the next three years, at least. Um, here is Kamala Harris yesterday going off script.
00:34:32.940 Because as we all know, elections matter. And when folks vote, they order what they want.
00:34:40.820 And in this case, they got what they asked for.
00:34:47.520 I went off script a little bit.
00:34:52.020 I, first of all, what is that accent that she does? Uh, second,
00:34:57.300 yeah. I mean, I, I actually agree. It's, I couldn't agree more that you got what you asked
00:35:03.800 for. That is going to be their campaign slogan for reelection. Hey America, you got what you asked
00:35:10.840 for. That's true. At least, at least a lot of people, you know, we didn't all ask for it,
00:35:16.880 but a lot of people did. And that, this is exactly what they're getting.
00:35:21.500 And when it comes to what they asked for, they also asked for a Joe Biden, who is a man who is,
00:35:26.900 you know, falling apart, uh, physically and mentally in, in, in every other way.
00:35:33.020 And we're at the point now with Biden. Now I've said before that I would prefer for him not to
00:35:37.100 appear on camera, for him not to take questions, for him not to, uh, you know, do any more press
00:35:41.120 conferences, because I think it's become almost a national security issue. The more that we
00:35:46.400 advertise to the world that, Hey, look, this is the dude who's in charge over here. The more that
00:35:51.320 we do that, the more likely it is that we're going to have, you know, we're going to end up in
00:35:55.420 some kind of world war. Um, but it's so bad now that even when Biden, even if he's not
00:36:01.760 saying anything and he's just walking, he somehow manages to embarrass himself even in that context.
00:36:09.080 So here he is walking, um, across the lawn of the white house yesterday and, um, he's got his mask
00:36:17.560 on. Let's go ahead and play this. He's got, he's got the mask on. First of all, let's, let's strike one
00:36:25.400 all by himself outside with the mask on, but look how he's walking. You could tell that he's just
00:36:34.340 focused. And this is a, this is a nicely manicured lawn. It's not like he's walking through mud or
00:36:37.720 quicksand or anything like that, or even high, even tall grass, but you can tell he's, you can,
00:36:42.180 you can almost see the thought bubble in his head. He's, he's thinking, okay, left foot, right
00:36:47.540 foot, left foot, right foot. He's just terrified that he's going to fall. He's already done that
00:36:53.040 once. He looks like he's getting a field sobriety test, but he's had a few and you know, he's like,
00:37:00.440 he gets pulled over and he's had a few. The cop can smell the alcohol in his breath and he knows he's
00:37:04.800 going to be when it comes time to, you know, to do the blood alcohol content. It's, it's, he's going to,
00:37:09.380 it's going to be close. And so he's had the cops have him walk on a line and you could just tell
00:37:15.240 he's, he's doing everything he can to fool the officer, appear as sober as possible. But the harder
00:37:19.820 he tries, the more drunk he appears. That's what's happening in our country. That's, that's the state
00:37:25.520 that we're in. Again, you gotta, you gotta feel real good about having these people, especially
00:37:30.020 those two. They're going to be in charge of navigating this crisis that we find ourselves in.
00:37:35.820 All right. I want to play this for you quickly. Here's a local news report about an assistant
00:37:39.180 principal in Michigan who was arrested for child sex abuse. And, um, again, assistant principal
00:37:47.380 arrested for child sex abuse. It even gets worse than that when you hear about who the victim is
00:37:52.160 and where do you think this guy is right now? Let's watch and find out.
00:37:57.600 Assistant principal at Ecorse High School facing criminal sexual conduct charges involving a child.
00:38:03.460 45 year old Melvin Conway was arrested this morning and arraigned this afternoon on one count
00:38:08.300 of first degree criminal sexual conduct. Grant Herms is live tonight. So Grant, what did the judge
00:38:14.520 decide on bond here? Well, the bond is relatively low, just $75,000. He'll also have to be confined
00:38:22.460 to home arrest and wear a GPS tracker that will let him go back to work at the school.
00:38:28.560 In court today, Ecorse High School assistant principal Melvin Conway, the 45 year old arrested by Detroit police in the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. A sheriff's office spokesperson telling local 4 Conway is accused of sexual misconduct in the case involving his daughter and that the alleged incident appeared to happen eight years ago. According to the Wayne County prosecutor's office, the girl was just 10 years old at the time of the incident and reported it last spring.
00:38:56.940 Well, we see this quite often. It looks like at some point the victim shared this information with someone else who took the initiative to report the incident.
00:39:08.760 The judge today said in Conway's bond at $75,000 along with house arrest with a GPS monitor so he can still go to work at the school.
00:39:17.060 As of this afternoon, Conway was still listed as employed by the district. Local 4 asked for a comment today but did not get one back.
00:39:25.340 Conway is charged with criminal sexual conduct.
00:39:28.480 Can still go work at the school. Arrested for
00:39:31.280 quote unquote sexual misconduct
00:39:34.500 with his daughter who's 10 years old and he can still go work at the school after that.
00:39:39.580 I've been saying for years, I'll keep saying
00:39:44.880 until
00:39:46.800 until I'm not the only one saying it anymore.
00:39:50.940 This is
00:39:52.020 an epidemic in the school system.
00:39:54.800 Okay, that right there is
00:39:56.060 just one case.
00:39:57.900 But it's in the context of an overall
00:39:59.960 epidemic that's been going on for years.
00:40:03.200 There is an epidemic
00:40:04.280 of sexual abuse within the schools.
00:40:05.940 Now, as far as we know, this is not this
00:40:08.700 this crime did not occur in the school itself.
00:40:12.280 But the epidemic is sexual
00:40:14.360 sex crimes happening in the school
00:40:16.480 and also sex criminals
00:40:17.960 being hired by schools
00:40:19.680 and allowed to stay there
00:40:21.640 even after their crimes are known.
00:40:25.520 We're seeing the same thing in the school system
00:40:27.320 that we've seen so many other institutions, including the Catholic Church,
00:40:30.220 where, you know,
00:40:31.740 something happens, things are reported
00:40:33.940 and then you take that person
00:40:35.360 and you just move them to a different school.
00:40:37.680 We've seen that too.
00:40:39.300 This is an actual epidemic.
00:40:42.320 And our government
00:40:43.180 has known about it.
00:40:44.580 I've told you before
00:40:45.180 about the
00:40:45.560 Department of Education
00:40:47.300 actually did a study
00:40:48.440 about sexual
00:40:49.440 misconduct by teachers
00:40:50.860 in schools.
00:40:51.880 They did this back in 2004.
00:40:54.660 And they found that
00:40:55.500 it's
00:40:56.500 thousands and thousands of cases.
00:40:59.000 It's very common.
00:41:01.660 That was back in 2004.
00:41:02.700 You think it's gotten better since then?
00:41:06.780 I can guarantee it hasn't.
00:41:08.800 Because a problem like this,
00:41:09.880 if you don't address it,
00:41:10.660 if you don't do anything about it,
00:41:12.380 it certainly isn't going to go away.
00:41:16.200 It's only going to get worse.
00:41:20.020 It's like any other,
00:41:21.740 you know,
00:41:21.920 you've got some putrid,
00:41:23.580 disgusting mess
00:41:25.080 and you sweep it under a rug.
00:41:26.960 It's just going to fester under there
00:41:28.400 and get worse.
00:41:28.800 It's not going to get better.
00:41:29.440 And on top of that,
00:41:31.700 that's just the natural course
00:41:32.920 of these sorts of things.
00:41:33.780 But on top of that,
00:41:34.940 the schools themselves
00:41:37.980 have becoming an increasingly
00:41:39.840 sexual environment.
00:41:43.140 We're putting teachers
00:41:44.220 more and more in charge
00:41:45.420 of having
00:41:45.880 radically inappropriate
00:41:48.880 sexual conversations
00:41:49.900 with kids at very young ages.
00:41:51.100 And that is only going
00:41:54.160 to encourage
00:41:54.780 more and more
00:41:55.400 of these kinds of people,
00:41:57.240 of predators,
00:41:59.400 to flock to these jobs.
00:42:03.740 I mean,
00:42:03.980 one of these days,
00:42:04.820 eventually one of these days,
00:42:06.200 we're actually all
00:42:06.880 going to start talking
00:42:07.600 about this epidemic
00:42:08.620 of sexual assault
00:42:09.500 and sexual abuse
00:42:10.260 in the school system.
00:42:11.460 But so far,
00:42:12.760 very few people
00:42:13.360 seem to care that much about it,
00:42:14.580 which I cannot understand.
00:42:15.700 Finally,
00:42:18.140 this is from
00:42:18.460 the Wall Street Journal,
00:42:19.280 a billionaire
00:42:19.880 who recently rocketed
00:42:21.100 to the International Space Station
00:42:22.940 said he's sending
00:42:23.520 one of his prized
00:42:24.440 John Michael Basquiat
00:42:26.100 paintings
00:42:26.920 to auction this spring
00:42:28.040 for an estimated
00:42:28.440 $70 million.
00:42:30.220 You can see the painting there.
00:42:31.860 The move hints
00:42:32.300 at the shifting whims
00:42:33.260 of the world's wealthy,
00:42:34.000 but also underscores
00:42:34.540 the continuing strength
00:42:35.260 of the art market overall.
00:42:36.400 So that's the painting
00:42:37.580 right there.
00:42:38.440 We'll take a look at that.
00:42:39.320 That's $70 million.
00:42:42.240 Looks like something
00:42:42.940 that a four-year-old
00:42:44.260 future serial killer
00:42:45.200 would make with finger paint
00:42:46.700 during preschool art class.
00:42:49.500 I could have vomited
00:42:50.500 on that thing yesterday
00:42:51.360 when I had my stomach bugged,
00:42:52.300 and you wouldn't be able
00:42:52.960 to tell the difference.
00:42:54.420 It could already have
00:42:55.340 vomit on it,
00:42:55.900 for all we know.
00:42:56.420 There's no way
00:42:56.920 it's impossible to tell.
00:42:58.620 So there's always
00:42:59.440 this debate about
00:43:00.500 whether something qualifies
00:43:02.320 as art or not.
00:43:04.400 And sure,
00:43:04.820 I'll say that that's art,
00:43:05.840 technically.
00:43:06.720 It's just really bad art.
00:43:08.220 And I don't mean
00:43:09.140 subjectively, right?
00:43:10.140 It's not subjectively bad.
00:43:11.280 It's objectively bad.
00:43:12.340 It is objectively bad.
00:43:13.280 It is objectively not beautiful.
00:43:15.200 And all art
00:43:16.400 should be striving for beauty,
00:43:17.600 which isn't to say
00:43:18.100 that all art should be
00:43:19.100 cheerful.
00:43:20.980 It doesn't mean
00:43:21.320 that art can't sometimes
00:43:22.320 be sad or dark
00:43:23.520 or even grim or whatever.
00:43:25.000 It can be all those things,
00:43:26.260 but it should still
00:43:27.080 have beauty and meaning.
00:43:29.140 And this has neither
00:43:30.060 of those things.
00:43:31.540 So it's just bad.
00:43:33.380 But someone's going to spend
00:43:33.940 $70 million on that.
00:43:35.400 Money well spent.
00:43:35.900 Let's get to the comment section.
00:43:38.880 Do you know their name?
00:43:43.020 They're the Sweet Baby Gang.
00:43:47.920 All right.
00:43:49.040 Somehow,
00:43:50.200 McKenna is still in charge
00:43:52.760 of compiling these video submissions,
00:43:55.620 the video comments.
00:43:56.400 You go to dailywire.com
00:43:57.500 slash sweetbabycomments
00:43:59.580 and leave your own.
00:44:01.500 I've still,
00:44:02.140 I've still haven't,
00:44:02.760 I've still entrusted her
00:44:05.460 to do this.
00:44:06.780 And I've given her
00:44:07.640 a second chance, really.
00:44:09.160 So let's,
00:44:10.000 let's,
00:44:10.260 let's see what we got.
00:44:10.920 Let's go to clip nine.
00:44:11.600 Hello again, Mr. Walsh.
00:44:14.240 It's me.
00:44:14.740 It's Uncle Murray.
00:44:15.560 I got a bone to pick
00:44:16.520 with you, buddy.
00:44:17.520 That last video
00:44:18.440 that I sent you,
00:44:19.420 that afterwards
00:44:20.240 that you threw
00:44:21.100 your producer
00:44:21.720 under the bus,
00:44:22.800 you cast her to the dogs,
00:44:24.240 as the kids say.
00:44:25.220 And how could you do that
00:44:26.520 to such a sweet,
00:44:27.700 long-suffering woman
00:44:29.080 who works tirelessly for you
00:44:31.060 day in and day out?
00:44:32.560 You know,
00:44:32.780 she's just trying to share
00:44:33.840 a little joy
00:44:34.680 and a couple of chuckles
00:44:35.980 with you,
00:44:36.540 like I'm trying to share
00:44:37.440 that with you.
00:44:38.360 And then what do you do?
00:44:39.600 You,
00:44:39.820 you throw her under the bus
00:44:41.000 and you threaten
00:44:41.860 the livelihood.
00:44:43.060 You jeopardize the food
00:44:44.360 on,
00:44:44.680 on her plate.
00:44:46.000 On her plate,
00:44:46.900 you know.
00:44:47.240 Don't worry about me.
00:44:48.520 You know,
00:44:48.740 don't worry about hurting
00:44:49.480 my feelings.
00:44:50.180 I got thick skin,
00:44:51.260 you know.
00:44:51.520 I can take care of,
00:44:52.320 I died inside,
00:44:53.260 you know,
00:44:53.420 just a little bit.
00:44:54.240 And so,
00:44:54.740 you know,
00:44:55.000 you and me,
00:44:55.760 you know,
00:44:55.980 that,
00:44:56.180 that's another battle,
00:44:57.120 General.
00:44:57.540 But how could you be
00:44:58.500 such a bully
00:44:59.140 to such a sweet producer
00:45:00.420 like that?
00:45:01.580 Shame.
00:45:02.360 Shame on you,
00:45:03.380 you overbearing
00:45:04.620 tyrant of a bully.
00:45:06.560 You ain't heard
00:45:07.200 the last of me,
00:45:07.940 my friend.
00:45:08.640 For shame.
00:45:11.000 this is,
00:45:15.360 this is sabotage.
00:45:17.180 I know what this is.
00:45:18.140 I know what's happening here.
00:45:21.460 There are those,
00:45:23.260 I don't know,
00:45:23.860 it's,
00:45:24.120 McKenna's in on it.
00:45:25.060 I don't know who else is,
00:45:26.180 but it's a conspiracy.
00:45:28.180 There are obviously those
00:45:29.440 in this building
00:45:30.120 who don't like
00:45:30.840 the comment section
00:45:31.620 segment of this show.
00:45:33.580 Don't like the video comments
00:45:34.880 and they're trying
00:45:35.360 everything they can
00:45:36.100 to sabotage
00:45:39.120 the segment
00:45:39.520 and it might
00:45:41.440 actually work
00:45:42.080 because if this continues,
00:45:43.160 I don't think we can do
00:45:43.860 the video comments anymore.
00:45:46.080 All right.
00:45:47.560 This is why you never
00:45:48.320 give people second chances.
00:45:49.540 This is why
00:45:50.120 you never do it.
00:45:51.580 All right,
00:45:52.140 let's go,
00:45:53.020 we'll go to the written comments.
00:45:54.160 Johnny says,
00:45:55.140 Matt,
00:45:55.380 I saw your Instagram post
00:45:56.540 and would like to inform you
00:45:57.380 that your man card
00:45:58.220 is revoked forever.
00:46:00.300 No man can eat a cake pop
00:46:02.200 and remain a man.
00:46:03.280 Shame on you.
00:46:04.400 Okay,
00:46:04.720 I did.
00:46:05.440 So I'll ask you guys
00:46:06.440 about this.
00:46:07.260 So on Sunday,
00:46:07.740 I was out with my family
00:46:08.380 and stopped for a coffee
00:46:09.180 and while I'm getting a coffee,
00:46:10.920 I order myself a cake pop,
00:46:12.480 a chocolate cake pop
00:46:13.300 with sprinkles
00:46:13.680 and I did specifically say
00:46:15.300 that I wanted that.
00:46:16.300 I was very specific
00:46:16.820 and my wife,
00:46:17.880 for some reason,
00:46:18.240 thought this was hilarious
00:46:18.920 and she took a picture
00:46:19.900 of me holding the cake
00:46:20.600 while you could see there.
00:46:22.060 Nobody has ever looked
00:46:22.840 less happy
00:46:23.400 while eating a dessert
00:46:24.460 than me in that picture
00:46:26.100 but only because
00:46:27.220 my wife's laughing at me
00:46:28.320 and shaming me
00:46:29.920 and then keeps laughing
00:46:32.180 about how my man card
00:46:33.240 is revoked
00:46:33.760 so is that
00:46:35.720 is that really
00:46:38.240 how far we've fallen
00:46:39.120 as a society
00:46:39.960 that a grown man
00:46:40.740 can't even eat
00:46:41.640 a cake pop anymore?
00:46:42.820 Is that the sort of
00:46:43.380 toxic masculinity
00:46:44.360 that we've come
00:46:45.580 to simply accept?
00:46:46.560 This idea that a man
00:46:47.280 can't still be a man
00:46:49.180 as he says out loud
00:46:50.100 to a person behind the counter,
00:46:51.420 I'd like a cake pop
00:46:52.320 with chocolate
00:46:52.860 and sprinkles, please
00:46:54.000 and then proceeds
00:46:55.980 to eat said cake pop.
00:46:57.980 Do I really lose
00:46:58.920 my man card over that?
00:47:00.540 Am I banned
00:47:01.060 from my own show?
00:47:02.460 I'll leave it up to you,
00:47:03.500 the judge,
00:47:04.180 the jury,
00:47:04.700 to decide.
00:47:06.880 Let's see,
00:47:07.500 IJ Kelly says,
00:47:08.680 Matt,
00:47:09.040 I'm an avid viewer
00:47:10.020 of your show
00:47:10.440 from England.
00:47:11.000 I'm a big fan
00:47:11.540 and I agree wholeheartedly
00:47:12.540 with 99.9%
00:47:13.660 of what you say.
00:47:15.620 My burning question
00:47:16.580 to you though
00:47:17.180 is this,
00:47:17.940 does the Sweet Baby Gang
00:47:18.780 extend to the UK
00:47:19.820 and other nations
00:47:20.700 or are you strictly
00:47:21.340 a US outfit?
00:47:22.280 Much love.
00:47:23.440 The Sweet Baby Gang
00:47:24.080 is international,
00:47:24.720 of course.
00:47:25.000 I'm not xenophobic.
00:47:26.240 I wouldn't exclude foreigners.
00:47:27.600 You're welcome to join.
00:47:29.140 You'll have to pay
00:47:29.640 a $300 processing fee,
00:47:31.020 of course,
00:47:31.400 undergo a background check,
00:47:32.940 renounce your country
00:47:33.680 of origin
00:47:34.080 and work for 12 years
00:47:36.680 as an indentured servant
00:47:37.460 in America
00:47:38.100 to an American member
00:47:39.460 of the gang.
00:47:39.840 But other than that,
00:47:40.360 you're absolutely welcome.
00:47:42.280 We don't discriminate.
00:47:43.400 Finally,
00:47:43.760 Greg says,
00:47:44.220 Matt,
00:47:44.540 your Friday show
00:47:45.780 was disappointing.
00:47:46.620 I get that you're
00:47:47.200 more of the culture war guy,
00:47:48.600 but you need to be able
00:47:49.440 to put that aside
00:47:50.160 and focus on more important
00:47:51.360 things in the world sometimes.
00:47:52.640 Everyone's talking
00:47:53.220 about the major crisis
00:47:53.920 of Europe
00:47:54.280 and you're ranting
00:47:55.260 about trans people again.
00:47:56.460 real war
00:47:57.600 greater than sign
00:47:59.160 culture war.
00:48:01.320 Well,
00:48:01.760 you're right.
00:48:02.080 I did commit the sin
00:48:03.440 of talking about something
00:48:04.240 other than what everyone
00:48:05.200 else is talking about.
00:48:05.940 For some reason,
00:48:06.800 as a listener of this show,
00:48:08.140 that annoys you,
00:48:08.960 which I don't quite understand.
00:48:10.560 Just from a sort of
00:48:12.140 pure entertainment perspective,
00:48:13.440 I don't understand that.
00:48:14.800 Do you really want
00:48:16.040 and need to hear me
00:48:16.920 say the same thing
00:48:17.700 that you've already heard
00:48:18.260 a million people say already?
00:48:20.740 Why would you even want that?
00:48:22.820 And if you do,
00:48:23.620 I'm not sure why
00:48:25.880 you're a fan of this show
00:48:26.580 to begin with,
00:48:27.060 given that I frequently
00:48:28.060 ignore the major headlines
00:48:29.320 and talk about other things.
00:48:31.520 There have been major stories
00:48:32.720 that have been in the news
00:48:33.280 for weeks at a time
00:48:34.000 and I never even mention them.
00:48:35.860 That's what you get
00:48:36.420 on this show.
00:48:38.440 And I do that
00:48:39.280 because I believe
00:48:39.960 other things are still important
00:48:41.260 even if the corporate media
00:48:42.340 says otherwise.
00:48:44.100 You know,
00:48:44.360 with the corporate media,
00:48:45.240 it's one thing at a time.
00:48:47.360 One thing is of utmost importance,
00:48:48.700 the most important thing
00:48:49.260 in the world.
00:48:49.620 And then that is just
00:48:51.000 tossed to the side
00:48:51.820 and then here's another thing
00:48:53.160 that's the most important
00:48:53.740 thing in the world.
00:48:54.720 And as soon as we move
00:48:55.580 on to the next thing,
00:48:56.300 it's like that other thing
00:48:56.900 never happened.
00:48:57.880 We never speak of it again.
00:49:00.240 And if you think
00:49:00.880 that won't happen
00:49:01.520 with the situation in Ukraine,
00:49:03.600 it will.
00:49:05.140 Because when you're
00:49:05.680 in the midst of the hysteria,
00:49:07.040 it's hard to imagine
00:49:07.920 that like by next week,
00:49:09.800 nobody will be talking
00:49:10.740 about it anymore,
00:49:11.060 but that's the way
00:49:11.780 it goes in this country.
00:49:13.200 Now,
00:49:13.580 if this turns into
00:49:14.300 a global world war,
00:49:15.500 that might be different,
00:49:16.420 but if not,
00:49:17.860 then yeah,
00:49:18.720 that's the way it'll go.
00:49:20.620 And I believe that,
00:49:21.840 you know,
00:49:23.600 and I also disagree with you
00:49:24.840 about real war,
00:49:26.540 quote unquote,
00:49:26.960 being more important
00:49:27.660 than the culture war.
00:49:28.620 Now,
00:49:28.820 if our own country
00:49:29.380 was being physically invaded
00:49:30.560 by a foreign military,
00:49:31.800 I would probably agree
00:49:33.440 that such an event
00:49:34.200 would be the most
00:49:34.820 pressing concern
00:49:35.460 for all of us
00:49:36.060 at that moment,
00:49:36.580 but it isn't right now
00:49:38.160 and hopefully it stays that way.
00:49:39.620 And so,
00:49:40.580 I mean,
00:49:40.740 our country is being invaded,
00:49:41.920 just not by a foreign military,
00:49:43.120 not in an official capacity.
00:49:44.920 So the question is
00:49:45.860 whether a war
00:49:46.560 between foreign countries
00:49:47.660 is more important,
00:49:48.720 more immediately relevant,
00:49:50.440 more pressing,
00:49:51.040 more urgent,
00:49:51.620 more likely to impact your life
00:49:53.100 or hurt you
00:49:53.700 or your children
00:49:54.260 than the state of our culture?
00:49:56.640 I think the answer to that is no.
00:49:58.720 Doesn't make the war overseas
00:49:59.840 unimportant,
00:50:00.920 but yes,
00:50:01.920 I believe that fighting
00:50:02.620 for our culture here at home
00:50:03.860 is still more important.
00:50:04.780 I do believe that.
00:50:06.220 Well,
00:50:06.600 tonight is Joe Biden's
00:50:07.540 first official
00:50:08.160 State of the Union address
00:50:09.100 and the one thing
00:50:10.100 I guarantee you
00:50:10.660 is that you're not going to hear
00:50:11.920 a lot of truth.
00:50:12.780 That's the one thing
00:50:13.280 you won't hear.
00:50:14.020 That's because the Biden presidency
00:50:15.100 is an unmitigated disaster,
00:50:17.460 supply chain crisis,
00:50:18.660 energy crisis,
00:50:19.420 debacle in Afghanistan,
00:50:20.600 all self-induced,
00:50:21.380 and now war in Ukraine.
00:50:22.820 Much of it,
00:50:23.340 if not all of it,
00:50:24.220 due to Joe Biden's
00:50:25.100 feckless and embarrassing leadership.
00:50:26.460 Of course,
00:50:27.160 Biden is never going to say
00:50:28.320 any of that,
00:50:29.420 but Ben Shapiro will.
00:50:31.160 What am I talking about tonight?
00:50:32.120 Exactly 15 minutes
00:50:33.180 following President Biden's remarks
00:50:34.400 before a joint session of Congress,
00:50:36.320 Ben will offer up his response.
00:50:38.000 We'll call it
00:50:38.340 the real State of the Union.
00:50:40.200 Ben is going to tell you
00:50:41.120 where we really are
00:50:41.980 as a country.
00:50:42.900 I promise you,
00:50:43.340 Ben's real State of the Union response
00:50:44.700 will be free of focus group testing
00:50:46.300 and he'll be holding
00:50:47.380 the president accountable.
00:50:48.620 There'll be no hiding behind COVID
00:50:50.160 or blaming rogue dictators.
00:50:51.760 Put simply,
00:50:52.540 Ben will destroy
00:50:53.360 Joe Biden's State of the Union
00:50:54.860 with facts and logic.
00:50:56.440 So join me,
00:50:57.020 Ben Shapiro,
00:50:57.500 Jeremy Boring,
00:50:58.560 Michael Knowles,
00:50:58.980 and Andrew Klavan
00:50:59.320 tonight at 8.15 p.m. Eastern,
00:51:01.200 7.15 p.m. Central
00:51:02.680 on the Daily Wire YouTube channel.
00:51:04.220 The real State of the Union response
00:51:05.420 with Ben Shapiro
00:51:06.300 will be airing
00:51:06.860 as soon as Biden's address
00:51:07.820 ends on the same channel.
00:51:09.260 So make sure to tune in.
00:51:10.720 Now let's get to
00:51:11.220 our daily cancellation.
00:51:16.020 Well,
00:51:16.440 the left-wing blogs
00:51:17.200 informed me yesterday
00:51:17.920 that John Oliver
00:51:18.640 had returned to his HBO show
00:51:20.280 to deliver another epic smackdown,
00:51:22.220 this time destroying,
00:51:23.400 demolishing,
00:51:24.320 eviscerating
00:51:25.080 anti-prostitution laws.
00:51:27.260 Oliver is quite sure
00:51:28.400 that there is no good reason
00:51:29.500 for prostitution to be illegal.
00:51:31.460 He's even more sure
00:51:32.280 that it's mostly
00:51:33.560 just a bunch of repressed
00:51:34.540 puritanical bumpkins
00:51:35.740 who still support such laws.
00:51:37.380 Now he begins his segment
00:51:38.300 by playing some kind of weird
00:51:39.500 1950s PSA
00:51:40.840 about wet dreams.
00:51:42.500 Don't ask me why.
00:51:43.620 Then he proceeds to list
00:51:44.800 a bunch of sex positions
00:51:45.840 while the audience
00:51:47.200 cackles uproariously.
00:51:48.340 This is just great comedy.
00:51:49.320 Watch this.
00:51:50.860 Specifically tonight,
00:51:51.640 we're going to talk about
00:51:52.300 sex work.
00:51:53.240 And the concept is pretty simple.
00:51:54.580 Let's say you have sex,
00:51:55.580 any kind,
00:51:56.040 missionary,
00:51:57.040 doggy,
00:51:57.800 cowgirl,
00:51:58.600 cowboy,
00:51:59.260 the eagle,
00:52:00.120 the wheelbarrow,
00:52:01.100 the wild chinketeek pony,
00:52:02.860 the Jerry Seinfeld,
00:52:04.060 the pick-me-up,
00:52:04.880 the put-me-down,
00:52:05.920 mouth-butt,
00:52:06.780 butt-mouth,
00:52:07.660 mouth-mouth-butt,
00:52:08.880 butt-butt,
00:52:09.540 butt-mouth-butt,
00:52:10.100 you know, whatever,
00:52:11.060 but then that's it.
00:52:11.920 You go home.
00:52:12.640 It's fine, right?
00:52:13.480 So you see there
00:52:15.960 why Oliver needs
00:52:16.780 the crutch of a live
00:52:17.700 studio audience?
00:52:19.240 Because without the
00:52:20.160 mindless drones laughing,
00:52:21.500 that would have just been
00:52:22.420 a sex-crazed,
00:52:23.780 schizophrenic,
00:52:24.900 randomly shouting
00:52:25.620 a bunch of sexual terms
00:52:26.700 into the abyss.
00:52:28.360 With the laughing,
00:52:29.300 it's still that,
00:52:30.240 but at least the people
00:52:30.940 in the room are
00:52:31.500 enjoying it, I guess.
00:52:33.040 But it sets the stage
00:52:33.880 for what's to come.
00:52:34.540 Oliver proceeds to lay out
00:52:35.580 his case for decriminalizing
00:52:36.980 prostitution everywhere
00:52:37.840 in the country.
00:52:38.920 He has 25 minutes
00:52:40.040 to present the argument
00:52:40.960 in favor of prostitution,
00:52:42.200 but wastes most of it
00:52:43.140 talking about alleged
00:52:44.000 instances of abuse
00:52:45.000 by the law enforcement
00:52:45.760 officers tasked
00:52:46.840 with policing the practice.
00:52:48.480 So he mentions,
00:52:49.100 for example,
00:52:49.580 a report claiming
00:52:50.280 that officers in
00:52:51.060 sting operations
00:52:51.700 sometimes have sex
00:52:53.460 with the prostitutes
00:52:54.260 before arresting them.
00:52:56.280 Now, we can all agree
00:52:57.400 that if that's happening,
00:52:58.700 it's wrong and horrible
00:52:59.620 and exploitative,
00:53:00.580 but it has nothing to do
00:53:02.320 with whether prostitution
00:53:03.460 should be legal or illegal.
00:53:05.560 There are plenty of cases
00:53:06.800 of police officers
00:53:07.580 mistreating murder suspects,
00:53:09.540 but that doesn't mean
00:53:10.160 murder should be legal.
00:53:11.980 So before we talk about
00:53:13.080 how these laws are enforced,
00:53:15.660 and I personally think
00:53:16.360 they should be enforced
00:53:16.980 by first and foremost
00:53:17.840 penalizing the pimps
00:53:19.460 and traffickers themselves,
00:53:21.100 before we can do that,
00:53:21.920 we need to figure out
00:53:22.620 if the laws should exist at all.
00:53:25.120 Oliver doesn't really
00:53:25.820 have a lot to say
00:53:26.580 about that subject,
00:53:27.260 even though it's ostensibly
00:53:28.160 the subject of his episode,
00:53:29.860 of this episode of his show.
00:53:31.420 But let's listen to his case
00:53:32.480 for whatever it may be worth.
00:53:34.200 He starts things off
00:53:35.020 by drawing what actually
00:53:37.120 is a valid comparison
00:53:38.200 and one that listeners
00:53:39.560 of this show
00:53:40.180 have already heard many times.
00:53:42.000 Listen to this.
00:53:43.580 Very basically,
00:53:45.220 sex work is the exchange
00:53:46.320 of sex for money or goods,
00:53:48.040 and in the United States,
00:53:49.280 a complicated patchwork
00:53:50.440 of local, state,
00:53:51.340 and federal laws
00:53:52.100 makes that act illegal
00:53:53.400 everywhere except
00:53:54.380 for a few counties in Nevada.
00:53:56.480 And if you think it were,
00:53:57.160 hold on, John,
00:53:58.240 didn't Donald Sutherland
00:53:59.400 and Julie Christie
00:54:00.240 have sex for real
00:54:01.360 in Don't Look Now
00:54:02.280 and also get paid
00:54:03.200 at least scale?
00:54:04.560 Wouldn't that be illegal?
00:54:05.800 The answer is one,
00:54:06.540 yes, I also believe that rumor.
00:54:08.380 Great reference.
00:54:09.080 And two,
00:54:10.040 that is actually legal
00:54:11.760 because of the presence
00:54:12.680 of the camera
00:54:13.440 making it an art film,
00:54:15.100 otherwise known as porn,
00:54:16.780 and thus legally
00:54:17.480 covered as part of free speech.
00:54:19.500 So basically,
00:54:20.540 consensual sex for money
00:54:21.780 on camera
00:54:22.520 is legal porn,
00:54:23.960 and consensual sex for money
00:54:25.220 off camera
00:54:26.100 is illegal sex work.
00:54:27.820 Makes sense, right?
00:54:28.940 Wrong?
00:54:29.580 Well, exactly.
00:54:30.900 Everything about
00:54:31.940 the way we regulate
00:54:33.020 sex work in this country
00:54:34.300 is confusing
00:54:34.980 and counterproductive.
00:54:36.880 Oh, where have I heard
00:54:38.120 that before?
00:54:39.220 I mean, you're right, John.
00:54:40.120 That is, in fact,
00:54:40.680 a point that I have made
00:54:41.700 many times,
00:54:42.400 and people on your side
00:54:43.340 of the ideological divide
00:54:44.120 have mocked me
00:54:45.180 relentlessly for it.
00:54:46.660 I guess I need to say
00:54:47.320 with a British accent
00:54:48.140 for it to be credible.
00:54:50.540 Pornography
00:54:50.940 is prostitution
00:54:52.240 on film.
00:54:53.660 It fits the definition
00:54:54.720 in every sense of the word.
00:54:56.080 It makes no sense
00:54:57.080 for prostitution
00:54:57.700 to only be legal
00:54:58.900 when there's a camera
00:55:00.020 filming it.
00:55:01.460 In fact,
00:55:02.080 if you could only
00:55:02.720 outlaw one form,
00:55:04.580 the filmed
00:55:05.100 or unfilmed variety,
00:55:06.660 it would make more sense
00:55:07.720 to outlaw the former
00:55:08.600 because it has
00:55:09.340 more participants.
00:55:11.160 Either way,
00:55:11.640 there's no denying
00:55:12.300 the contradiction
00:55:13.200 in the way that our laws
00:55:14.100 treat prostitution
00:55:14.820 as opposed to how
00:55:15.420 they treat pornography.
00:55:16.940 My answer to that
00:55:18.140 contradiction
00:55:18.700 is to make all of it
00:55:20.160 illegal.
00:55:22.020 His answer
00:55:22.760 is to make it all legal.
00:55:24.240 And let's find out why.
00:55:26.040 But a human history's worth
00:55:28.960 of f***ing laws
00:55:29.800 hasn't changed the fact
00:55:30.980 that one,
00:55:31.700 sex work has always
00:55:32.880 been part of society,
00:55:33.920 appealing to every interest
00:55:35.020 and every kind of clientele.
00:55:36.680 And two,
00:55:37.420 sex workers
00:55:37.960 are not a monolith.
00:55:39.800 People from a variety
00:55:40.840 of backgrounds
00:55:41.360 do it for a variety
00:55:42.480 of reasons.
00:55:43.320 And the fact is,
00:55:44.420 our current system
00:55:45.340 of criminalizing the trade
00:55:46.980 and driving everyone
00:55:48.200 underground
00:55:48.680 is actually only making
00:55:50.240 life harder
00:55:50.860 for the most vulnerable
00:55:52.000 involved.
00:55:52.620 And given that,
00:55:53.720 sex workers are,
00:55:54.520 and this is true,
00:55:55.480 people with thoughts
00:55:56.620 about their own
00:55:57.180 f***ing situation,
00:55:58.600 we thought tonight
00:55:59.320 we'd actually listen to.
00:56:02.060 So here John offers
00:56:03.340 two incredible insights.
00:56:05.520 One, he points out
00:56:06.680 that prostitution
00:56:07.360 has always been around.
00:56:08.940 And two, he observes
00:56:09.880 that some of the people
00:56:11.400 doing this illegal thing
00:56:12.620 would prefer
00:56:13.180 if it were not illegal.
00:56:15.060 Now, both of these points
00:56:16.580 may seem rather obvious
00:56:17.860 and irrelevant,
00:56:19.320 but remember that he dropped
00:56:20.160 an F word in there,
00:56:21.020 which automatically makes
00:56:21.980 his point both
00:56:22.600 powerful and clever
00:56:23.520 and funny.
00:56:25.600 Yes, we know that
00:56:26.780 there have been prostitutes
00:56:27.940 for as long as there's been
00:56:28.780 human civilization.
00:56:29.600 That's why the old cliché
00:56:30.760 about the world's
00:56:31.440 oldest profession.
00:56:33.320 But we've also had
00:56:34.260 murder and rape
00:56:35.200 and child abuse
00:56:35.760 and every other
00:56:36.340 bad human activity
00:56:37.160 for as long as
00:56:37.780 we've had humans.
00:56:38.940 The fact that people
00:56:39.840 have been doing something
00:56:40.860 for a long time
00:56:41.740 and will always do it
00:56:43.060 doesn't automatically mean
00:56:44.380 that there should be
00:56:44.840 no laws against it.
00:56:46.340 If it did,
00:56:47.080 then there shouldn't be
00:56:47.540 laws against anything
00:56:48.360 because the only things
00:56:49.420 we need laws against
00:56:50.160 are precisely those things
00:56:51.080 that human beings
00:56:51.600 tend to do.
00:56:52.600 If nobody did it,
00:56:54.200 we wouldn't need to
00:56:54.760 outlaw it.
00:56:56.100 As for the point
00:56:56.900 that anti-prostitution
00:56:57.680 laws ignore the
00:56:58.440 perspective of prostitutes,
00:56:59.520 that wouldn't be relevant
00:57:00.740 if it were true
00:57:01.640 because, again,
00:57:03.760 pointing out that the
00:57:04.960 people doing the
00:57:05.660 illegal thing
00:57:06.220 don't like that it's
00:57:07.680 illegal is not really
00:57:08.840 relevant,
00:57:09.380 but it's also not true
00:57:10.520 at all
00:57:10.880 because some of the
00:57:12.300 most vocal
00:57:12.800 anti-prostitution voices
00:57:13.880 in the country
00:57:14.360 are people who've been
00:57:15.120 rescued from that life.
00:57:17.580 Prostitution is bad.
00:57:18.880 It harms people.
00:57:19.600 It harms everybody
00:57:20.120 involved in one way
00:57:20.880 or another.
00:57:21.880 There's a reason
00:57:22.580 why prostitutes,
00:57:23.420 just like people
00:57:23.880 in the porn industry,
00:57:25.020 have astronomically
00:57:25.960 high rates of
00:57:26.620 substance abuse,
00:57:28.000 suicide.
00:57:29.640 Any law that could
00:57:30.360 potentially prevent
00:57:31.120 people from getting
00:57:32.260 involved in this
00:57:32.860 activity or deter
00:57:33.780 them from it,
00:57:34.760 or at least any law
00:57:36.240 that fails to condone
00:57:37.300 it,
00:57:38.040 is good for the
00:57:39.500 prostitutes or
00:57:40.120 potential prostitutes
00:57:40.860 themselves,
00:57:41.580 even if they don't
00:57:42.140 always have the
00:57:42.660 self-awareness and
00:57:43.500 foresight to see it
00:57:44.700 that way.
00:57:45.040 It's pretty common
00:57:47.700 for people who are
00:57:48.280 stuck in a self-destructive
00:57:49.200 cycle to defend
00:57:50.820 their self-destructive
00:57:51.800 activity and to get
00:57:53.460 very angry at anybody
00:57:54.340 who tries to stop them
00:57:55.280 from doing the
00:57:55.880 self-destructive thing.
00:57:57.780 But that doesn't
00:57:58.580 really mean anything
00:57:59.380 in terms of what
00:57:59.940 the law should be.
00:58:01.420 Now, we'll return to
00:58:02.540 that point in just a
00:58:03.260 moment, but first
00:58:03.760 we'll continue listening
00:58:04.500 to Oliver's argument
00:58:05.700 such as it is.
00:58:07.000 So far, he hasn't
00:58:07.700 really presented any
00:58:08.380 reason to decriminalize
00:58:09.420 it.
00:58:10.220 Perhaps he finally
00:58:10.780 gets to that point
00:58:11.460 here.
00:58:11.700 This story is
00:58:14.400 going to be about
00:58:14.820 the fact that sex
00:58:15.560 work is inarguably
00:58:16.740 labor.
00:58:17.660 It is a job, and
00:58:19.200 people do it for the
00:58:19.880 same reasons that
00:58:20.480 people do any job,
00:58:21.760 as this advocate
00:58:22.460 explains.
00:58:23.720 Sex work is
00:58:24.920 inherently work.
00:58:26.300 It's how people
00:58:27.000 feed their families,
00:58:28.480 it's how people put
00:58:29.540 clothes on their
00:58:30.880 backs, it's, you
00:58:32.180 know, how people
00:58:32.760 survive.
00:58:33.460 I mean, I've been a
00:58:34.420 sex worker, I've been
00:58:35.440 a lawyer, I've served
00:58:36.960 sandwiches at
00:58:37.520 Subway, I've folded
00:58:39.320 clothes at Abercrombie.
00:58:40.580 All those are work.
00:58:41.700 Right, it's all work.
00:58:45.040 Okay, what's your
00:58:47.120 point?
00:58:48.220 Yes, those are all
00:58:49.520 things you did for
00:58:50.200 money.
00:58:50.700 You folded clothes
00:58:51.440 at Abercrombie.
00:58:52.460 You were a
00:58:53.240 prostitute.
00:58:54.540 You were a lawyer,
00:58:55.620 which some would
00:58:56.420 argue is more of a
00:58:57.080 lateral move.
00:58:58.400 All of that is work,
00:58:59.760 if by work you
00:59:00.480 simply mean a task
00:59:01.480 performed for
00:59:02.120 financial compensation.
00:59:03.660 But what does that
00:59:04.500 prove?
00:59:05.420 Are you saying that
00:59:06.160 anything done for
00:59:07.000 money is automatically
00:59:07.840 good, or should
00:59:08.900 automatically be legal?
00:59:10.980 That's quite an
00:59:11.640 interesting take from
00:59:12.360 the same people who
00:59:12.960 also tend to be
00:59:13.460 critics of
00:59:13.840 capitalism.
00:59:15.260 What about child
00:59:16.120 pornographers?
00:59:17.020 What about hired
00:59:17.600 assassins?
00:59:18.860 What about Bernie
00:59:19.680 Madoff running a
00:59:20.440 Ponzi scheme?
00:59:21.440 All of that is work
00:59:22.560 done for money.
00:59:24.820 If you don't think
00:59:25.640 that all of it should
00:59:26.340 be legal, then you're
00:59:27.540 saying that there are
00:59:28.120 certain types of
00:59:28.940 jobs, certain types
00:59:30.780 of work, that nobody
00:59:32.620 should be legally
00:59:33.320 allowed to do in a
00:59:34.120 civilized society, even
00:59:35.160 if they use it to
00:59:35.760 feed their families.
00:59:36.340 The question is
00:59:38.160 whether prostitution
00:59:38.860 ought to be in that
00:59:39.700 category or not, and
00:59:41.560 that is a question you
00:59:42.340 still have not really
00:59:43.020 answered, and never do,
00:59:44.480 but we'll keep
00:59:44.820 listening.
00:59:46.280 To those who are
00:59:47.220 still uncomfortable
00:59:48.140 here, out of a
00:59:49.140 concern that there are
00:59:49.960 people who feel
00:59:50.700 economically forced
00:59:52.300 into sex work, I
00:59:53.720 totally agree with you.
00:59:55.600 That is a huge
00:59:56.760 problem, but the fact
00:59:58.040 is, our current laws
00:59:59.800 are not addressing
01:00:01.180 that.
01:00:01.900 If you want to do
01:00:02.680 that, that's a much
01:00:03.640 bigger conversation to
01:00:04.980 have, because
01:00:05.340 fundamentally, the
01:00:06.500 only way to make
01:00:07.740 sure that people
01:00:08.200 have a choice in
01:00:08.980 the way they earn
01:00:09.620 money is to make
01:00:10.200 housing affordable,
01:00:11.220 healthcare accessible,
01:00:12.240 and to not burden
01:00:13.000 marginalized people
01:00:13.800 with criminal records
01:00:14.620 that lead to a cycle
01:00:15.460 of joblessness,
01:00:16.340 homelessness, and
01:00:16.960 desperation.
01:00:17.760 But until such
01:00:18.940 time as we have
01:00:20.280 that conversation, and
01:00:21.920 it does not seem
01:00:22.940 like something enough
01:00:23.740 people are itching to
01:00:24.940 have right now, we
01:00:26.400 need to stop pursuing
01:00:27.560 policies that harass,
01:00:29.000 endanger, and
01:00:29.900 occasionally
01:00:30.360 refrigerate sex
01:00:31.540 workers, and instead
01:00:32.880 start listening to
01:00:33.980 what they actually
01:00:34.660 want, because
01:00:35.200 unfortunately, if we
01:00:36.580 don't do that, we're
01:00:37.900 just going to carry
01:00:38.460 on looking like a
01:00:39.640 bunch of clowns.
01:00:42.380 Well, speak for
01:00:43.140 yourself, John.
01:00:44.260 And he once again
01:00:44.760 returns to the point
01:00:45.500 that people who are
01:00:46.760 currently prostitutes do
01:00:48.140 not want prostitution to
01:00:49.120 be a crime.
01:00:49.680 Again, I must remind
01:00:50.400 him that most of the
01:00:51.540 people currently engage
01:00:52.340 in all types of
01:00:52.880 illegal activity probably
01:00:54.460 would prefer if the
01:00:55.540 activity was not
01:00:56.220 illegal.
01:00:56.900 That doesn't really
01:00:57.600 help enlighten the
01:00:58.320 issue at all, nor
01:00:59.440 does it do anything to
01:01:00.080 negate the real reason
01:01:01.280 why prostitution is
01:01:02.340 illegal almost everywhere
01:01:03.500 and should remain so.
01:01:04.660 And that is this.
01:01:07.200 Prostitution is human
01:01:09.000 trafficking, by
01:01:09.920 definition.
01:01:11.240 It is the human body
01:01:12.360 sold as a good, an
01:01:13.740 object.
01:01:15.120 That's also what
01:01:15.540 distinguishes prostitution
01:01:17.200 from legitimate forms
01:01:18.240 of work.
01:01:18.920 With legitimate labor,
01:01:20.060 you are providing a
01:01:21.020 good or service in
01:01:21.760 exchange for money.
01:01:22.620 In prostitution, you
01:01:24.080 are the good.
01:01:25.200 You are the service.
01:01:27.120 This is also how you
01:01:27.940 differentiate, you know,
01:01:29.160 zip recruiter from a
01:01:30.100 slave auction.
01:01:31.240 You are not buying the
01:01:32.280 slave's labor, really.
01:01:33.480 You are buying him.
01:01:34.960 The slave himself is the
01:01:36.620 commodity and so is the
01:01:37.680 prostitute.
01:01:38.880 The prostitute gives
01:01:39.900 herself up to be used
01:01:41.600 and discarded.
01:01:42.420 It is inherently
01:01:43.020 dehumanizing, degrading,
01:01:45.120 violent, despair
01:01:46.780 inducing.
01:01:48.580 Oliver mentions how poor
01:01:49.640 and vulnerable people tend
01:01:50.780 to be the ones on street
01:01:51.560 corners offering to
01:01:52.280 perform oral sex on
01:01:53.140 strangers, which is true,
01:01:54.620 but he never stops to ask
01:01:56.020 himself why.
01:01:57.660 Putting the law aside,
01:01:58.840 why is it almost always
01:02:00.100 poor and desperate
01:02:00.980 people who end up going
01:02:02.060 down this dark road?
01:02:03.660 There are exceptions, of
01:02:04.640 course, and the internet
01:02:05.380 version of prostitution
01:02:06.320 provides many of those
01:02:07.420 exceptions, but the vast
01:02:08.800 majority of the hookers
01:02:09.740 on street corners are poor,
01:02:11.140 desperate, drug-addicted
01:02:12.020 girls.
01:02:13.680 That's not going to change
01:02:14.620 by making it legal.
01:02:16.280 It's not like if you
01:02:17.180 legalize it, suddenly a
01:02:18.140 bunch of middle-class,
01:02:19.100 financially stable women
01:02:20.140 are going to flock to the
01:02:21.360 corner hoping to get
01:02:22.040 their turn humping a
01:02:23.240 random dude in a car
01:02:24.120 parked by a dumpster.
01:02:25.020 However, this is
01:02:26.580 something that only
01:02:27.360 people in dire straits
01:02:28.560 do because it is
01:02:30.180 debasing, humiliating,
01:02:31.600 dirty, and shameful
01:02:32.460 and dangerous.
01:02:35.840 That's not an argument
01:02:36.800 for making it legal, and
01:02:38.340 if you think it is, I
01:02:39.240 have to question not only
01:02:40.120 your common sense, but
01:02:41.160 your basic moral judgment
01:02:42.400 as well.
01:02:43.800 Now, the prostitute
01:02:44.440 apologist will say that
01:02:45.420 the prostitutes are acting
01:02:46.600 consensually, but we know
01:02:48.220 that's not true in a great
01:02:49.080 number of cases.
01:02:49.760 Many of these girls are
01:02:50.460 physically forced and
01:02:51.320 coerced into it, and
01:02:52.320 again, you're not going to
01:02:53.520 alleviate those cases by
01:02:54.700 making the practice
01:02:55.420 legal.
01:02:56.800 Pornography is legal, and
01:02:57.800 that certainly hasn't done
01:02:58.460 anything to put a dent in
01:02:59.580 the child porn business.
01:03:01.460 The effect has gone
01:03:02.380 entirely the other way.
01:03:04.020 As for prostitutes, many
01:03:05.440 did not choose that life.
01:03:07.860 That's reason enough to
01:03:08.760 keep it illegal, but even
01:03:09.840 the ones who appear to have
01:03:10.680 chosen it didn't really
01:03:12.180 choose it.
01:03:12.920 People who think they have
01:03:13.640 choices don't become
01:03:14.620 prostitutes.
01:03:16.440 You'd think this would be
01:03:17.300 obvious to the left,
01:03:18.120 especially, as they're the
01:03:18.920 ones who say that a boss
01:03:19.900 having sex with a
01:03:20.660 subordinate is
01:03:21.540 automatically a rapist
01:03:23.120 because the power
01:03:24.540 dynamics make consent
01:03:25.640 impossible, right?
01:03:26.840 That was the me-too
01:03:27.640 logic.
01:03:28.780 Now, if they can apply
01:03:29.620 that principle to the
01:03:30.420 workplace, where it
01:03:32.220 should not actually be
01:03:33.060 applied most of the time,
01:03:34.180 how can they exempt
01:03:34.920 prostitution?
01:03:35.700 But however you look at
01:03:38.600 the consent question, the
01:03:39.960 fact remains that
01:03:40.680 prostitution is human
01:03:41.580 trafficking, it is the
