The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 91 - Massive Bombshell： Pope Francis Accused Of Personally Covering Up Abuses

00:00:00.000 Well, I don't know if you've been able to follow the latest news revolving around the church sex abuse scandal over the last couple of days.

00:00:07.500 I know there's been a lot of big news out there, but this development is truly massive.

00:00:16.840 It is breathtaking. Words really fail to describe it.

00:00:22.220 I'm going to do my best to unpack this and to kind of break it down for you, and then I'll give a few thoughts of my own.

00:00:28.100 But my main point here, the main thing I want to do is just kind of give you the basics of this because it's kind of hard to follow along.

00:00:37.360 So Pope Francis has been accused of personally, when he was pope, personally covering up sexual abuse.

00:00:47.000 This accusation comes from us from an Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, who's a former papal nuncio to the United States.

00:00:56.540 So that's basically an ambassador for the Vatican.

00:01:00.480 So this is a high-ranking person. This is not some random nobody, okay?

00:01:05.680 This is a person with intimate knowledge of what's going on, with intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the church and the hierarchy.

00:01:13.460 This isn't a conspiracy theorist on a blog somewhere.

00:01:16.220 This isn't a guy ranting in his car, okay?

00:01:20.160 He goes, why would you want to listen to somebody like that?

00:01:22.160 This is one of the guys who has been in the upper echelon of the church hierarchy, and now he's spilling his guts, which is absolutely incredible.

00:01:33.180 The allegations revolve around Cardinal McCarrick, who was one of the most powerful, was one of the most powerful Catholics in the United States, in the world, really. 0.95

00:01:43.080 And it's recently been revealed that Cardinal McCarrick is a serial pervert and an abuser.

00:01:48.780 He's been accused, many accusations against him. 0.55

00:01:52.000 He's been accused of molesting two children, but the lion's share—and that's the only reason that we're finding out about everything involving McCarrick, is because of those accusations—but the lion's share of his alleged sins have to do with his behavior with young priests and seminarians.

00:02:08.860 He's been accused of groping, assaulting, abusing young priests and seminarians. 0.96

00:02:13.000 He's been accused of using seminaries as if they're, you know, some kind of gay prostitution house, where he would come in and select his own little harem of homosexual seminaries and seminarians and priests. 0.99

00:02:31.620 And he would take them back to his beach house or whatever, and they would have gay orgies and all these kind of things. 1.00

00:02:36.420 I mean, this is just—he was a deviant, pervert abuser. 0.99

00:02:41.620 And this apparently, like with Weinstein in Hollywood, this was an open secret for many years in the church. 0.88

00:02:48.900 Although the secret was not open or known among average lay Catholics, this was a secret openly known by many bishops and cardinals, and, if you believe, Vigano, the pope as well.

00:03:03.920 Vigano discharged his accusations in a stunning 11-page document.

00:03:10.380 I cannot begin to summarize everything that he says, but again, I emphasize this is somebody who has—I think he's 77 years old now.

00:03:18.260 He's been in the church.

00:03:19.020 He's been in the hierarchy of the church for many, many years.

00:03:22.300 He has seen a lot of things.

00:03:23.400 He's heard a lot of things.

00:03:24.760 He has documentation for a lot of things.

00:03:27.060 He's been involved in many conversations, and now he is just pouring it all out and saying, look, this is what I know.

00:03:34.080 And he's putting it all out there.

00:03:35.960 He essentially drops—so it's worth reading the entire report if you haven't done that. 1.00

00:03:40.140 He essentially drops an atomic bomb on the entire network of cowards and perverts in the church. 0.99

00:03:46.940 He names names. 1.00

00:03:47.740 He calls out some of the highest-ranking people in the church, accuses them of lying, conspiring, covering up, or of actually being homosexual predators themselves. 0.94

00:03:57.580 He tells a story about an actual conspiracy of homosexuals and homosexual defenders in the church who have worked in tandem together to keep men like McCarrick in positions of power. 0.95

00:04:10.480 This is something that little old people like myself and many others have been saying exists in the church, an actual high-ranking, powerful network of homosexual predators. 0.87

00:04:22.900 We've been saying this for a long time, that that exists. 0.65

00:04:25.380 And now you have someone who's in the know, who has seen it for himself, and he is saying, yes, yes, that exists.

00:04:34.780 And this is not just a crackpot making up accusations.

00:04:37.800 This is like, you know, this is the equivalent of—this would be like if Nikki Haley came out and made accusations against the Trump administration.

00:04:50.400 That's what it would be like.

00:04:52.340 About halfway through the document, so he spends the first half calling out one after another, naming names, a lot of names that, you know, most of us have never heard before, although these are powerful people in the church.

00:05:04.720 But he's—one after the other, he's calling people out, he's putting their names out there.

00:05:11.280 About halfway through, Vigano talks about Francis, and he alleges that Pope Francis knew personally about McCarrick's abuses.

00:05:19.760 He says that he, Vigano, personally had a conversation about McCarrick with Francis.

00:05:25.200 So that's how he—he knows that Francis knew because he spoke with him about Francis.

00:05:29.560 So he knows—this isn't something he got secondhand.

00:05:32.040 He knows it personally.

00:05:33.800 Let me—here's how he recounts a conversation he had with Francis about McCarrick.

00:05:40.580 He says—and I'm quoting from him now.

00:05:42.480 He says, the Pope asked me—asked me in a deceitful way, what is Cardinal McCarrick like?

00:05:49.460 Now, the reason he says that this was deceitful is because Vigano alleges that Francis already knew about McCarrick.

00:05:58.200 He knew all about him, and yet he was asking this question, pretending like he didn't know.

00:06:04.480 So he asks me, what is Cardinal McCarrick like?

00:06:07.520 I answered him with complete frankness and, if you want, with great naivete.

00:06:11.840 Holy Father, I don't know if you know Cardinal McCarrick, but if you ask the congregation for bishops,

00:06:16.680 there is a dossier this thick about him.

00:06:19.420 He corrupted generations of seminarians and priests,

00:06:22.500 and Pope Benedict ordered him to withdraw to a life of prayer and penance.

00:06:27.440 The Pope did not make the slightest comment about those very grave words of mine.

00:06:31.820 It did not show any expression of surprise on his face,

00:06:34.620 as if he had already known the matter for some time,

00:06:37.640 and he immediately changed the subject.

00:06:40.280 Later on, Vigano says he had a similar conversation

00:06:42.480 with Cardinal Wuerl about McCarrick,

00:06:50.320 yet Wuerl has since pretended that in Cardinal,

00:06:53.080 and Wuerl was the bishop in Pittsburgh,

00:06:58.220 so he's been accused of covering up sex abuse crimes.

00:07:01.720 Wuerl has pretended,

00:07:03.160 ever since the information came out about McCarrick,

00:07:05.060 Wuerl has said, oh, I had no idea about this.

00:07:07.240 I'm so shocked and horrified and saddened by it,

00:07:10.540 but Vigano says that Wuerl, quote, lies shamelessly. 0.95

00:07:16.000 He called him a shameless liar,

00:07:17.460 saying he knew about it because I talked with him about it. 0.83

00:07:21.560 As to the Pope,

00:07:22.820 it is alleged that Francis,

00:07:24.960 even after Vigano established that Francis knew about the abuses,

00:07:29.520 and he had talked to Francis about it,

00:07:31.040 Francis still kept McCarrick in positions of power and visibility,

00:07:35.160 allowing him to continue in his predations,

00:07:39.340 took no action against him until a few years later

00:07:43.020 when the public found out about McCarrick,

00:07:45.660 and then he took actions against him.

00:07:47.260 What's more, Vigano says that Pope Benedict,

00:07:52.440 before Francis,

00:07:53.760 eventually found out about McCarrick when he was Pope.

00:07:57.160 He didn't find out sooner,

00:07:58.920 even though people had made an effort

00:08:01.740 to let Benedict know about what McCarrick had been up to,

00:08:06.240 and Vigano himself had sent memos to the Vatican

00:08:09.440 to alert Pope Benedict as to the situation.

00:08:13.240 But according to Vigano,

00:08:15.280 there were people high up in the Vatican

00:08:17.700 who were keeping that information from Benedict.

00:08:20.220 But he did find out eventually.

00:08:22.420 He sanctioned McCarrick,

00:08:24.600 forbidding him from serving the church

00:08:26.640 in any kind of public way,

00:08:27.780 requiring him to go into seclusion,

00:08:30.120 into a life of penance and fasting.

00:08:33.040 And Vigano alleges that Francis

00:08:35.300 actually lifted those sanctions

00:08:37.580 and reinstalled McCarrick,

00:08:40.040 despite knowing that McCarrick is a predator deviant.

00:08:43.980 He lifted the sanctions

00:08:45.080 and put him back in public life

00:08:47.620 where he could continue doing what he'd been doing.

00:08:50.680 Vigano then calls for Francis to step down,

00:08:53.920 which is, everything about this is incredible.

00:09:00.580 But to have someone in his position

00:09:02.360 calling for the Pope to resign is,

00:09:05.000 it just, it does not happen very often.

00:09:08.100 This is the kind of thing that hardly ever happens.

00:09:12.200 So that's the summary of the report.

00:09:15.400 What else has happened since then?

00:09:17.060 Well, one of the men mentioned in Vigano's report,

00:09:22.800 a Monsignor Jean-Francois,

00:09:25.160 has corroborated the report.

00:09:27.500 Vigano says that Jean-Francois told him

00:09:30.420 about the sanctions that Benedict placed on McCarrick.

00:09:33.860 And now Jean-Francois has given

00:09:35.340 a two-sentence statement to the media saying,

00:09:37.720 Vigano said the truth, that's all.

00:09:39.940 So that's a corroboration.

00:09:41.480 Also, a bishop from Texas and Cardinal Burke

00:09:44.320 have both come out,

00:09:45.180 said that they think that the report,

00:09:47.440 that the accusations are credible

00:09:50.060 and that there needs to be

00:09:51.360 a full investigation into them.

00:09:53.240 On the other side,

00:09:54.780 defenders of the Pope have made a few points.

00:09:57.260 Number one, they've claimed that Vigano himself

00:09:59.520 covered up sexual abuses years ago.

00:10:03.140 And they indicted his credibility by saying that,

00:10:05.600 hey, you know, if he knew about all this stuff,

00:10:07.660 why didn't he come out earlier and say it?

00:10:09.740 Why is he waiting till now?

00:10:11.780 Now, I don't know if the first thing is true or not.

00:10:14.020 I don't know if he's guilty of his own cover-ups.

00:10:16.280 But both of these points really do nothing to absolve Francis

00:10:19.620 because, in fact, Vigano said himself in his report,

00:10:23.780 he tells us why he's coming out now.

00:10:27.020 And he says it's because he's an old man

00:10:28.820 and he's looking to clear his conscience.

00:10:31.360 He knows he's going to be standing before God before long.

00:10:34.540 And he doesn't want to go to God

00:10:36.240 with all of this on his conscience.

00:10:37.740 So he's letting it out now.

00:10:39.580 He's trying to do the right thing now near the end

00:10:42.740 before he has to face God.

00:10:46.780 So how guilty or innocent he personally is,

00:10:50.240 it's kind of irrelevant.

00:10:52.920 Number two, they have poked holes in the claim

00:10:56.680 that Benedict sanctioned McCarrick,

00:10:58.620 pointing out that McCarrick was still celebrating Mass,

00:11:01.180 was still going to other functions and everything under Benedict.

00:11:04.300 Maybe this means that the sanctions never occurred.

00:11:08.140 Maybe it means they did, but McCarrick defied them.

00:11:11.980 The whole thing about the sanctions,

00:11:14.860 that's one of the only things in Vigano's report

00:11:18.620 that he got secondhand.

00:11:20.600 Okay, he heard about them.

00:11:22.060 And he says he heard about them

00:11:23.160 from this Monsignor Juan Francois,

00:11:26.880 who has since corroborated it.

00:11:30.000 Most of the other stuff, it's not secondhand.

00:11:32.440 He's saying these are conversations I personally had

00:11:35.000 with the Pope and with others in the church.

00:11:38.880 So does that mean that the sanctions never happened?

00:11:43.000 I don't know.

00:11:44.520 But whether there were sanctions or not

00:11:47.000 doesn't actually matter.

00:11:49.260 The real question is,

00:11:52.380 did Francis know about McCarrick?

00:11:56.520 That's it.

00:11:57.180 I mean, that's it.

00:11:57.880 That's the question.

00:11:58.780 Did Francis know about McCarrick

00:12:00.040 before all of this came out in the media?

00:12:03.600 Because if he did,

00:12:05.300 then we know he's guilty of covering for him

00:12:08.100 because we know that he took no action

00:12:10.540 against McCarrick until all this came out

00:12:13.280 and that he did.

00:12:14.600 He had McCarrick in a position of power and visibility

00:12:17.900 where he could, you know,

00:12:19.340 he had access to priests and seminarians

00:12:21.120 and everything else.

00:12:22.800 Whether he was restored to power

00:12:24.920 or simply allowed to remain in power

00:12:27.680 is irrelevant, actually.

00:12:30.300 All that matters is whether Francis knew 0.80

00:12:32.800 that McCarrick was a predator and a deviant 0.81

00:12:35.580 and yet allowed him to continue. 0.97

00:12:38.220 That's what matters.

00:12:40.980 Finally, Pope Francis,

00:12:43.320 on the plane, on the way home from Ireland,

00:12:46.880 was asked about this report.

00:12:49.100 And now you would think,

00:12:53.260 put yourself in Pope Francis's shoes.

00:12:55.140 You're the Pope, okay?

00:12:57.260 And you've just been accused of this,

00:12:59.720 this stunning accusation

00:13:02.840 has just been leveled against you

00:13:05.020 by someone who was high up in the church

00:13:08.600 and someone who, you know,

00:13:11.460 wrote an 11-page report detailing

00:13:13.880 not just accusations against you

00:13:15.440 but against many members of the hierarchy

00:13:17.900 and people that are around you

00:13:19.080 and that accusation comes out.

00:13:22.180 If it weren't true,

00:13:24.120 if it was all fake and made up and false

00:13:28.160 because that's what it would have to be.

00:13:29.300 That's kind of,

00:13:30.440 that's the situation that we're in.

00:13:32.400 Either it's true 0.89

00:13:33.320 or Archbishop Vigano is a desperate liar 0.96

00:13:38.320 who at the age of 77 0.98

00:13:40.700 has concocted this whole story

00:13:42.840 out of whole cloth

00:13:44.020 and for some reason

00:13:46.220 and is, you know,

00:13:50.960 is putting it out there

00:13:52.780 even though he stands to gain

00:13:56.420 absolutely nothing from it whatsoever.

00:14:00.000 But if that were the case,

00:14:01.400 you know, and you're the Pope

00:14:02.040 and somebody just invented the story

00:14:03.760 and you're given the chance

00:14:05.620 to clarify things,

00:14:07.260 you would think you'd be very eager to say,

00:14:10.060 no, this is false.

00:14:11.940 It didn't happen.

00:14:13.280 It is simply false.

00:14:14.960 But that's not what the Pope said.

00:14:18.440 The Pope,

00:14:19.220 on the plane,

00:14:21.800 he was asked by CBS about this

00:14:23.260 and this is what he said.

00:14:24.560 He said,

00:14:24.920 I will respond to your question,

00:14:26.540 but I would prefer that we first speak

00:14:27.940 about the trip and then other topics.

00:14:29.980 This morning, I read that statement.

00:14:32.120 I read it

00:14:32.620 and I will say sincerely

00:14:34.020 that I must tell you all this,

00:14:36.040 you, CBS,

00:14:36.860 and all you who are interested,

00:14:39.000 read the statement carefully yourselves

00:14:40.780 and make your own judgment.

00:14:42.100 I am not going to say

00:14:45.340 a word about this.

00:14:47.140 I believe that the statement

00:14:48.200 speaks for itself

00:14:49.380 and you all have sufficient

00:14:51.020 journalistic ability

00:14:51.940 to draw conclusions.

00:14:54.340 It is an act of trust.

00:14:56.880 When a little time goes by

00:14:58.800 and you have drawn conclusions,

00:15:00.500 perhaps I will speak about it,

00:15:01.940 but I would like your professional maturity

00:15:03.960 to do this work.

00:15:05.460 It will do you all good, really.

00:15:07.280 What?

00:15:12.900 What?

00:15:14.740 I mean,

00:15:15.520 this is incredible.

00:15:17.420 Francis was asked directly

00:15:19.380 if he knew about McCarrick,

00:15:22.080 if he lifted sanctions.

00:15:23.600 These are simple yes or no answers.

00:15:26.040 It's not complicated.

00:15:27.980 There's no nuance to it.

00:15:29.460 You either knew about him

00:15:30.360 or you didn't.

00:15:31.720 If you didn't,

00:15:32.640 then you just say,

00:15:33.440 no, I didn't know about him.

00:15:34.900 There's absolutely no reason

00:15:36.180 to refrain from saying,

00:15:38.360 no, I didn't know about him.

00:15:39.320 I didn't know it.

00:15:40.580 It's not true.

00:15:43.600 And if you didn't lift sanctions,

00:15:45.180 then again,

00:15:45.820 no, that's crazy.

00:15:47.660 I didn't,

00:15:47.860 that never happened.

00:15:52.660 But instead,

00:15:53.360 he refuses to answer the question

00:15:55.300 and even encourages people

00:15:57.300 to make up their own conclusions.

00:15:59.920 What?

00:16:00.100 And then he even chides the media

00:16:05.740 and says,

00:16:07.060 and says,

00:16:08.460 like,

00:16:08.740 it'll be a character building exercise

00:16:10.720 for them

00:16:11.720 to draw their own conclusions,

00:16:15.280 which is exactly

00:16:17.500 what they're not supposed to do.

00:16:19.280 In fact,

00:16:20.300 the media,

00:16:20.700 the news media

00:16:21.560 is not supposed to draw

00:16:22.680 its own conclusions

00:16:23.680 about things like this.

00:16:24.880 They're supposed to do

00:16:25.720 what they did,

00:16:26.480 which is go to the Pope,

00:16:28.360 go to the source

00:16:29.080 and ask him,

00:16:30.080 did this happen?

00:16:31.480 Get both sides of the story.

00:16:33.540 And Pope Francis is saying,

00:16:34.640 I'm not going to give you

00:16:35.360 my side of the story.

00:16:37.680 Now,

00:16:38.200 there are only two ways

00:16:39.220 to interpret this

00:16:40.040 from Francis.

00:16:41.700 Only two ways.

00:16:44.060 One,

00:16:44.980 he's guilty.

00:16:47.220 Two,

00:16:48.180 he has so much disdain

00:16:50.140 for the faithful

00:16:51.600 in his church

00:16:52.540 and so much hubris

00:16:54.280 that he doesn't think

00:16:56.020 he owes an explanation.

00:16:57.900 Now,

00:16:58.700 it's possible

00:16:59.080 that both of these

00:16:59.680 explanations are true

00:17:00.460 at once,

00:17:01.220 or maybe one of them,

00:17:02.960 but there is no

00:17:04.380 flattering interpretation

00:17:06.300 for Pope Francis here.

00:17:09.880 Refusing to answer

00:17:10.860 the question.

00:17:12.920 Either way,

00:17:13.640 this is a

00:17:14.420 despicable response

00:17:17.220 from Pope Francis.

00:17:18.960 He's being accused

00:17:20.120 of a very serious

00:17:21.560 infraction,

00:17:23.020 and people

00:17:23.620 are calling

00:17:24.080 on him

00:17:25.300 to step down

00:17:26.200 in disgrace

00:17:27.600 from the papacy,

00:17:28.820 which,

00:17:29.020 again,

00:17:30.360 never happens.

00:17:33.020 And he doesn't

00:17:33.820 even bother

00:17:34.420 to respond?

00:17:36.360 What?

00:17:38.200 You don't even

00:17:38.920 give a response?

00:17:40.820 And not only that,

00:17:41.660 but, I mean,

00:17:42.120 forget about the media,

00:17:43.080 forget about

00:17:43.580 Vigano

00:17:45.260 or anyone,

00:17:46.020 any other bishop

00:17:47.560 or cardinal,

00:17:48.020 whoever,

00:17:49.600 just the faithful,

00:17:52.080 okay,

00:17:52.400 his flock,

00:17:53.880 the faithful

00:17:54.400 in the church

00:17:55.200 are reading

00:17:56.800 about this stuff,

00:17:57.780 and they are

00:17:58.220 greatly distressed

00:17:59.620 and troubled,

00:18:01.260 and,

00:18:01.520 I mean,

00:18:05.840 there are plenty

00:18:06.680 out there

00:18:07.040 who are teetering

00:18:07.720 on the edge

00:18:08.240 of despair

00:18:09.520 over all this stuff,

00:18:11.020 and this is

00:18:12.220 Pope Francis'

00:18:12.920 response.

00:18:13.920 Draw your own

00:18:15.020 conclusions.

00:18:16.100 I won't respond.

00:18:17.400 As I said,

00:18:20.000 it's despicable.

00:18:27.860 Here's what I'll say.

00:18:30.040 If these allegations

00:18:31.460 are true,

00:18:32.800 then Francis

00:18:33.880 has to resign,

00:18:34.700 and if he won't resign,

00:18:35.520 then he has to be

00:18:36.000 pushed out.

00:18:37.500 There has to be

00:18:38.080 an outcry so loud

00:18:39.460 from every Catholic 0.75

00:18:40.360 and every good bishop

00:18:41.120 and priest

00:18:41.520 that he has no choice

00:18:43.020 but to resign

00:18:44.080 in disgrace,

00:18:45.120 if they're true.

00:18:47.400 because then

00:18:48.660 he lacks

00:18:49.260 the moral capacity

00:18:50.560 to hold

00:18:52.940 the office

00:18:53.440 that he holds,

00:18:54.400 and he simply

00:18:55.080 cannot

00:18:55.520 continue holding it.

00:18:57.860 are the allegations

00:19:02.360 true is the next

00:19:03.120 question.

00:19:04.800 Well,

00:19:05.360 we know that

00:19:06.440 they're from

00:19:06.840 a credible source,

00:19:08.200 and they're from

00:19:09.580 a source who

00:19:10.200 provides dates

00:19:11.760 and quotations

00:19:12.920 and says that

00:19:14.400 he has further

00:19:15.040 documentation.

00:19:17.000 We also know

00:19:17.920 that he claims

00:19:18.600 in the report

00:19:19.260 that it will be

00:19:19.880 corroborated by

00:19:20.680 at least one other

00:19:21.240 person.

00:19:21.640 It is corroborated

00:19:22.600 by that person.

00:19:23.400 The allegations

00:19:25.480 are,

00:19:26.060 as I said,

00:19:26.580 breathtaking,

00:19:27.520 but not fantastical,

00:19:29.380 not unbelievable.

00:19:31.560 They are perfectly

00:19:32.640 reasonable allegations,

00:19:33.840 and they fit

00:19:34.500 with what we

00:19:35.820 already know.

00:19:37.420 It doesn't make

00:19:38.460 them true,

00:19:39.560 but I think

00:19:40.560 any time

00:19:41.120 somebody comes out

00:19:42.200 with allegations

00:19:43.220 like this,

00:19:44.400 you have to look

00:19:45.060 and does it

00:19:45.780 kind of fit in

00:19:46.580 to the picture

00:19:47.360 that we already

00:19:47.980 does?

00:19:48.720 It's like when

00:19:49.120 you're putting

00:19:50.040 together a puzzle

00:19:50.760 and you see

00:19:52.760 there are a lot

00:19:53.180 of blank spaces

00:19:53.940 and then you

00:19:54.820 pick up a piece

00:19:55.520 and you can look.

00:19:56.160 It's like,

00:19:56.500 does this piece

00:19:58.540 even belong

00:19:59.180 to this puzzle

00:19:59.780 or not?

00:20:00.140 You should be able

00:20:00.840 to at least

00:20:01.260 tell that much

00:20:01.960 based on what

00:20:03.920 you've already

00:20:04.400 put together.

00:20:05.540 And so in that

00:20:06.300 sense,

00:20:06.600 it does appear

00:20:07.120 to be a piece

00:20:07.680 of the puzzle

00:20:08.120 that belongs

00:20:08.880 to this puzzle.

00:20:10.900 So we know

00:20:11.740 all that.

00:20:13.480 And we also

00:20:14.260 know that the

00:20:14.700 Pope refused

00:20:15.440 to respond.

00:20:19.740 One other point

00:20:20.480 about that,

00:20:21.820 the only,

00:20:22.860 like I said,

00:20:24.280 refusing to

00:20:25.020 respond when

00:20:26.360 you're accused

00:20:26.920 of something

00:20:27.360 like this.

00:20:29.360 It could be

00:20:30.060 that you're

00:20:30.400 guilty and so

00:20:31.620 you don't want

00:20:32.540 to say anything

00:20:33.280 yet because

00:20:34.100 you've got to

00:20:34.440 go back and

00:20:35.140 you've got to

00:20:35.400 talk to your

00:20:35.780 lawyers and

00:20:36.400 you've got to

00:20:36.960 talk to your

00:20:39.480 PR people and

00:20:40.340 you've got to

00:20:40.980 talk to a whole

00:20:41.480 team of people

00:20:42.080 and craft what 0.97

00:20:42.820 your response

00:20:43.380 is going to be.

00:20:44.560 That's only if

00:20:45.400 you're guilty.

00:20:45.940 Now, if you're

00:20:46.280 innocent, then

00:20:46.820 it's very,

00:20:47.600 if somebody comes

00:20:48.220 up to you and

00:20:48.720 says, if police

00:20:50.240 come up to you

00:20:50.900 and say, you're

00:20:52.080 accused of

00:20:52.580 murdering so-and-so, 0.86

00:20:53.620 did you do it? 0.67

00:20:54.800 And you didn't

00:20:55.440 do it, then

00:20:56.440 you don't, I

00:20:57.020 mean, eventually

00:20:57.900 you'll talk to

00:20:58.440 it, you'll get a

00:20:59.140 lawyer as well

00:20:59.840 if you're arrested,

00:21:00.760 but right off the

00:21:02.800 bat, you would

00:21:03.560 say, no, I didn't

00:21:04.380 do that.

00:21:04.840 Of course you

00:21:05.160 would deny it

00:21:05.700 if you didn't

00:21:06.000 do it.

00:21:07.700 There'd be no

00:21:08.300 reason to refuse

00:21:09.180 to deny it if

00:21:10.840 it didn't happen.

00:21:11.680 I think much of

00:21:15.840 the time, the

00:21:16.520 only time when

00:21:17.540 you really refuse

00:21:18.360 to say anything,

00:21:19.620 even to issue a

00:21:20.620 denial of

00:21:21.320 something that, of

00:21:22.360 a very clear

00:21:23.440 accusation, is if

00:21:24.600 there's at least

00:21:25.200 some truth to

00:21:26.140 it.

00:21:26.560 And so you

00:21:27.600 need to figure

00:21:28.140 out how to

00:21:28.580 craft it.

00:21:29.780 But then the

00:21:30.280 other, as I

00:21:30.700 said, the other

00:21:31.240 explanation is

00:21:33.580 that you have

00:21:36.600 disdain for the

00:21:37.540 person asking the

00:21:38.280 question and you

00:21:38.840 think that the

00:21:39.500 accusations are so 0.99

00:21:40.400 ridiculous that 0.99

00:21:41.560 they aren't do a 0.96

00:21:42.820 response.

00:21:43.560 Now, that's like

00:21:45.480 there's a video of

00:21:47.420 Buzz Aldrin.

00:21:49.760 He was confronted

00:21:51.080 a few years ago

00:21:52.240 by a moon

00:21:53.840 landing conspiracy

00:21:55.840 theorist, one of

00:21:56.480 these guys that

00:21:56.980 thinks the moon

00:21:57.420 landing never

00:21:57.880 happened.

00:21:59.200 And Aldrin refuses

00:22:00.920 to respond to him

00:22:02.020 and then eventually 0.97

00:22:03.060 just punches him 0.82

00:22:03.840 in the face, which 0.85

00:22:04.860 is great, by the

00:22:05.680 way.

00:22:05.880 I just think

00:22:06.220 that's awesome.

00:22:07.400 Refuses to

00:22:07.920 respond, just

00:22:08.380 clocks the guy 0.62

00:22:09.280 in the face. 0.82

00:22:10.400 Now, that is an

00:22:11.920 appropriate response

00:22:12.800 because the

00:22:13.840 claim that you

00:22:14.940 faked the moon

00:22:15.760 landing is so 1.00

00:22:16.620 stupid, so 1.00

00:22:18.040 ridiculous, so 1.00

00:22:19.580 beneath, so 1.00

00:22:21.900 really contemptible

00:22:23.200 that it is not

00:22:24.760 due an answer

00:22:25.760 except for a

00:22:26.540 punch in the

00:22:26.940 nose.

00:22:28.240 This doesn't

00:22:29.120 fall into that

00:22:29.940 because we

00:22:32.840 already know

00:22:33.680 that there has

00:22:35.460 been a far-reaching

00:22:36.680 conspiracy within

00:22:37.820 the hierarchy of

00:22:38.660 the church to

00:22:39.540 cover up sexual

00:22:40.420 abuse.

00:22:40.980 We know that

00:22:41.740 for a fact.

00:22:43.680 So this is not

00:22:44.820 a moon landing

00:22:45.400 conspiracy.

00:22:48.360 And when you're

00:22:49.200 asked about it,

00:22:50.580 it is your

00:22:51.800 moral duty to

00:22:54.040 respond.

00:22:55.120 And if it's not

00:22:56.140 true, to issue

00:22:57.320 that clarification

00:22:58.040 and to give

00:22:59.380 reassurance to the

00:23:03.340 faithful and to

00:23:04.060 all people around

00:23:04.860 the world.

00:23:05.100 So as I

00:23:08.560 said, if it

00:23:08.880 is true, then

00:23:09.420 he has to

00:23:09.740 resign.

00:23:14.840 Whether or not

00:23:15.460 it is true, I

00:23:16.160 guess we can't

00:23:16.820 at this point

00:23:17.540 say with 100%

00:23:19.560 certainty whether

00:23:24.160 or not it is.

00:23:25.120 I think that

00:23:25.760 they're credible.

00:23:27.840 And I will say

00:23:28.680 that I'm

00:23:29.020 inclined to,

00:23:30.000 if I have to

00:23:32.800 choose between

00:23:33.960 believing somebody

00:23:36.020 like Archbishop

00:23:36.700 Vigano and

00:23:39.040 believing the

00:23:40.240 Cardinal

00:23:40.780 Wuerl, Cardinal

00:23:41.820 McCarrick, and

00:23:42.660 now Pope Francis

00:23:43.720 contingent, I'm

00:23:45.600 going to be more

00:23:46.180 inclined to believe

00:23:47.060 the former.

00:23:52.580 Either way, these

00:23:53.520 are very troubling

00:23:54.060 times.

00:23:54.480 many more

00:23:58.720 bishops, aside

00:23:59.900 from just two

00:24:00.540 of them, need

00:24:01.500 to speak up and

00:24:02.300 say, there has

00:24:03.340 to be a full

00:24:04.220 investigation into

00:24:05.220 this.

00:24:06.200 We need a full

00:24:06.960 investigation, no

00:24:08.940 more messing

00:24:09.340 around with it.

00:24:11.060 And if there is

00:24:11.800 any truth to

00:24:12.880 these allegations,

00:24:13.840 then Pope Francis

00:24:14.700 has to go.

00:24:18.280 Thanks,

00:24:18.800 everybody, for

00:24:19.180 watching.

00:24:19.540 Thanks for

00:24:19.820 listening.

00:24:21.480 Godspeed.
