The Matt Walsh Show - It’s Time to Win — Introducing： Jeremy’s Razors

00:00:00.000 Hey, it's Jeremy Boren, co-CEO and God King of The Daily Wire.

00:00:03.340 Do you remember one year ago today when Harry's Razors dropped their ads on The Daily Wire 0.99

00:00:07.100 because, well, because we had the audacity to disagree with them on a political issue?

00:00:11.340 Of course you don't. Why would you?

00:00:13.360 Woke corporations cancel their advertisements on conservative shows and platforms all the time.

00:00:17.720 It's hardly even news at this point, just the cost of doing business.

00:00:21.600 See, corporate America wants it both ways.

00:00:23.920 They want conservatives to buy their goods and services,

00:00:26.140 but they also want to virtue signal to the woke mob and their 23-year-old employees

00:00:30.720 by publicly repudiating those same conservative customers.

00:00:34.460 Here's the thing. I do remember.

00:00:36.820 I remember every time one of these cowardly companies betrays us. 0.59

00:00:40.380 And it is a betrayal, make no mistake.

00:00:42.400 They know our politics before they advertise with us.

00:00:44.960 It's why they advertise with us.

00:00:47.420 We reach a large audience.

00:00:49.000 They want that audience to buy their goods and services.

00:00:51.820 We go out of our way to make absolutely sure they know what we're about

00:00:54.900 before they get into business with us.

00:00:56.440 And they get into business with us anyway, because it works.

00:00:59.920 They're happy that we leverage our personal credibility

00:01:02.300 to tell our audience about their products.

00:01:04.600 We're happy, too.

00:01:06.500 But then at the first sign of trouble,

00:01:08.140 in the case of Harry's Razors, 0.99

00:01:09.340 it was an attack from a Twitter account with two,

00:01:11.980 yes, two followers online.

00:01:14.060 Well, then they not only pull their sponsorships,

00:01:16.260 but they publicly attack us and the very audience that they paid us to reach.

00:01:20.900 Now, look, I don't mind any company pulling their sponsorships.

00:01:23.760 That's their right.

00:01:25.180 That's just business.

00:01:27.100 It's the public attack I can't abide.

00:01:29.860 Harry said our views, in this case,

00:01:31.940 the very common view that gender dysphoria is a mental illness,

00:01:35.340 were, quote, inexcusable.

00:01:37.260 They said it publicly,

00:01:38.520 showing the whole world how pure they are, of course,

00:01:40.580 but also signaling to all of our other advertisers

00:01:42.960 that the only excusable thing to do would be to also cancel on us.

00:01:47.440 See, that makes it a direct attack on our business

00:01:49.820 and a direct attack on our audience, too.

00:01:51.760 So what are we to do?

00:01:54.100 Well, what conservatives have been doing for years is lose.

00:01:57.780 We're supposed to take the L.

00:01:59.220 We're supposed to get a little poorer.

00:02:00.520 We're supposed to hire fewer people.

00:02:01.820 We're supposed to be a little less profitable. 0.99

00:02:04.220 And, of course, we bitch. 1.00

00:02:05.720 Oh, how we complain. 1.00

00:02:07.060 The left is terrible.

00:02:08.100 It's cancel culture. 0.96

00:02:09.000 They're trying to silence us.

00:02:10.360 And then we beg.

00:02:12.420 We beg for donations, mostly.

00:02:14.500 Stand up to the censorious left, we shout,

00:02:16.460 by sending us your money.

00:02:17.680 And what you get for your money is, well, more losing and more bitching and more begging. 0.95

00:02:23.980 That's economic incentive at work.

00:02:26.340 As far as actual action, at most, we might rally for a good old-fashioned boycott.

00:02:30.860 Boycotts, of course, cost the offending company in question virtually nothing,

00:02:33.820 and they're over in virtually no time.

00:02:35.680 Of course they are.

00:02:36.900 Because in the end, we still need those products.

00:02:39.780 Nike may endorse Colin Kaepernick, but we still need good shoes.

00:02:43.640 Hollywood may sucker punch us every time we turn on the TV,

00:02:46.160 but we still need good entertainment.

00:02:48.220 Harry's may call us inexcusable, but you still need a good shave.

00:02:52.240 Well, I'm tired of losing.

00:02:53.600 I want to win for a change.

00:02:55.060 I want to create culture.

00:02:56.440 And I want to have a frickin' good time doing it.

00:02:58.340 Because losing? 0.99

00:02:59.980 Losing sucks. 0.84

00:03:01.600 That's why today, the Daily Wire is launching Jeremy's Razors, 0.98

00:03:05.020 a direct competitor to Harry's,

00:03:06.900 where people with inexcusable values like mine

00:03:09.440 can get a great razor without having to give their money

00:03:11.700 to people who clearly hate them.

00:03:13.520 It's why the Daily Wire launched its own film company last year,

00:03:16.560 so people, again, with inexcusable values like mine

00:03:19.340 can get great entertainment without giving their money

00:03:21.960 to people who clearly hate them.

00:03:23.700 It's why the Daily Wire is in the podcasting business,

00:03:26.300 and the news business, and the commentary business,

00:03:28.340 and the technology business.

00:03:29.860 Business, mind you, not charity.

00:03:32.000 We're a for-profit company.

00:03:33.680 We don't make our money by complaining and begging.

00:03:36.500 We make our money by building value

00:03:38.600 and selling it to people who think it's worth buying.

00:03:41.220 We win by winning.

00:03:43.820 The left is happy to bifurcate the culture,

00:03:46.260 to rip it in two.

00:03:47.360 They're convinced they'll pay no economic price for this

00:03:49.860 because they know what I know.

00:03:51.600 You still need those goods and services.

00:03:53.880 So in order to win,

00:03:55.200 we have to rip the economy in two.

00:03:57.720 We have to give conservatives their own companies.

00:04:00.040 We have to give conservatives their own products to buy.

00:04:02.080 We have to build actual market alternatives

00:04:04.800 that, in success, will force the left to take real losses

00:04:08.860 if they don't compete for our business.

00:04:11.800 The Daily Wire is doing just that.

00:04:14.000 Jeremy's Razors is doing just that.

00:04:17.020 Will it work?

00:04:18.560 I don't know.

00:04:19.680 It certainly won't work perfectly,

00:04:21.060 this being the real world and all.

00:04:22.620 But I know what won't work,

00:04:24.420 what doesn't work.

00:04:25.720 And what doesn't work is the non-profit right

00:04:28.260 losing its way to higher and higher donations

00:04:30.940 from a smaller and smaller conservative movement

00:04:33.380 that still has to actually spend its real money

00:04:35.520 paying the left for all of its goods and services.

00:04:38.320 That is a sure recipe for failure.

00:04:40.860 If we want to win, we have to compete.

00:04:43.620 And competition means building a future,

00:04:46.080 not just lamenting the loss of the past.

00:04:48.360 It means fighting in the economy and culture,

00:04:50.520 not just complaining about the loss of the economy and culture.

00:04:54.180 It means starting for-profit companies

00:04:56.020 that create actual economic incentives

00:04:58.340 for better behavior.

00:05:00.500 That's what animates me.

00:05:02.020 That's what drives the Daily Wire.

00:05:04.080 That's the real fight.

00:05:05.860 If you want a better future, you have to build it.

00:05:08.860 And if you want a better shave,

00:05:10.300 well, we're going to build that for you.
