00:00:58.360 I believe today is your wedding anniversary.

00:01:02.360 Is that right?

00:01:03.080 Now that you mention it, yeah, 14 years.

00:01:05.380 And my wife was thrilled when I told her

00:01:08.700 that we couldn't go out just now

00:01:11.960 because I had to go do a Friendly Fire episode.

00:01:14.420 I told her that.

00:01:15.460 She said, man, get out there 0.94

00:01:17.360 and do that Friendly Fire episode.

00:01:19.340 That's the most important thing.

00:01:21.200 You know, 14 years into marriage,

00:01:29.940 before I got married,

00:01:30.800 I heard the same thing that everybody always says,

00:01:33.100 which is, it's so hard.

00:01:34.660 Being married is so hard.

00:01:35.940 It's so difficult.

00:01:36.820 It's so, so, so hard.

00:01:38.240 I heard this over and over again.

00:01:39.900 I'm 14 years into it.

00:01:41.200 I'm waiting for the hard part still.

00:01:43.100 You know, I'm 14 years into it with six kids.

00:01:45.540 And I mean, there are challenges, obviously,

00:01:47.460 when you're living with another human being.

00:01:49.060 But for the most part, it's like, it's great.

00:01:51.700 I mean, you have a person that you like,

00:01:54.040 that you love, that is with you

00:01:55.960 and sharing life with you.

00:01:57.020 And it is actually great.

00:02:00.380 It is, now parenting can be really hard.

00:02:03.880 That's the part that is also great and wonderful,

00:02:06.580 but that's the hard part.

00:02:08.740 This is one of the, when you categorize rightly,

00:02:18.940 I think, Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization,

00:02:21.360 which is exactly what it is,

00:02:22.920 by any reasonable definition of the term,

00:02:25.200 well, that means that there should be consequences to that.

00:02:29.100 And what do we do?

00:02:30.360 If you're calling it a terrorist organization,

00:02:31.880 then you're putting it in the same category

00:02:33.960 as Al-Qaeda or ISIS.

00:02:35.280 And how do we handle those groups?

00:02:37.440 And what would we do if those groups were,

00:02:39.300 you know, were operating openly in the United States,

00:02:42.500 outside of ICE facilities and that sort of thing?

00:02:45.100 Well, we know how that would be handled.

00:02:46.460 And so that's how it should be,

00:02:47.860 that's how it should be handled here.

00:02:49.100 And you're also correct.

00:02:49.960 I think that this is,

00:02:50.780 and it's a point that's not made enough

00:02:51.940 about how the left gets around this reality,

00:02:55.480 which is that all of the political violence

00:02:57.100 is on their side.

00:02:57.780 And they do it by recategorizing

00:03:00.140 their political violence as not political violence.

00:03:02.200 And by the way, this is a trick they pull

00:03:04.660 with all forms of violence, okay?

00:03:07.100 This is how they have tried to get away

00:03:09.600 with claiming that some of these cities

00:03:11.200 that we can all tell have descended

00:03:13.180 into total violent chaos have actually,

00:03:16.960 they claim that, oh, well,

00:03:17.920 violent crime is going down.

00:03:19.460 Well, how do they get away with that?

00:03:20.400 It's because when you look at it,

00:03:21.500 oh, well, they're just recategorizing violent crime

00:03:24.260 as nonviolent crime.

00:03:25.400 There was a case in Kentucky recently

00:03:28.820 of a child that was stabbed to death in his home

00:03:32.140 and the rest of the family was also attacked.

00:03:33.860 And somehow the guy who committed that crime

00:03:36.520 was categorized under the law

00:03:38.760 as a nonviolent offender.

00:03:40.560 Yeah.

00:03:40.740 And so this is the game they play

00:03:43.420 on so many different levels.

00:03:44.940 And it's really important to point that out.

00:03:46.380 In fact, when we're talking about

00:03:47.480 left-wing violence in general,

00:03:49.700 there's one entire category of it

00:03:51.960 that is left out of the conversation,

00:03:54.560 which would be the tens of millions of babies

00:03:58.600 that are killed because of left-wing policies

00:04:01.700 and have been killed in this country

00:04:03.120 over the last 60 or 70 years.

00:04:05.360 And that's relevant because it is violence,

00:04:08.340 tens of millions of babies.

00:04:09.940 But also it shows,

00:04:10.860 it's one of the reasons why left-wing violence 0.70

00:04:12.600 is a much bigger problem.

00:04:14.780 It's because they don't recognize fundamentally

00:04:18.260 the dignity and sanctity of human life.

00:04:20.820 They just don't recognize,

00:04:21.700 they see it as,

00:04:22.800 well, if you're inconvenient to them,

00:04:24.340 that you actually don't have a right

00:04:25.820 to exist in the first place.

00:04:27.320 And if they're going to apply that

00:04:28.480 to their own children,

00:04:29.320 well, then of course they're going to apply it

00:04:31.600 to Charlie Kirk.

00:04:32.280 They're going to apply it to any one of them.

00:04:41.160 On my show this past week,

00:04:43.240 I kind of laid out this theory.

00:04:44.740 It's not just my theory,

00:04:45.680 but something I've been thinking about for a while.

00:04:47.660 And I am legitimately interested to hear

00:04:49.920 what you guys have to say about it.

00:04:52.080 So the theory is basically this,

00:04:53.720 that pop culture and the culture itself

00:04:57.740 peaked almost at a precise moment in time.

00:05:00.420 And I would say 2007,

00:05:02.020 but you could go a year before that and a year after.

00:05:03.760 So from like 2006 to 2008

00:05:05.360 was the peak of culture.

00:05:09.100 The peak of what some have called,

00:05:11.480 what I think is a good term for it,

00:05:12.740 monoculture.

00:05:13.580 So it's our shared cultural experience.

00:05:16.280 And it peaked right then and there.

00:05:17.880 And you can kind of pinpoint the peak

00:05:19.460 with pop culture,

00:05:20.440 with the things that Hollywood was putting out.

00:05:22.020 I mean, this was 2006, 2008.

00:05:24.460 It was There Will Be Blood,

00:05:26.400 No Country for Old Men, 0.97

00:05:27.420 Children of Men,

00:05:28.260 Apocalypto,

00:05:29.500 The Dark Knight,

00:05:30.640 and a bunch of other great films

00:05:31.960 came out at the same time.

00:05:33.140 This is also television.

00:05:34.480 I mean, it was like some of the,

00:05:36.500 arguably maybe the five

00:05:39.700 of the eight greatest television shows

00:05:41.500 of all time were airing,

00:05:43.280 overlapping with each other.

00:05:44.600 The Wire, Breaking Bad,

00:05:45.880 The Sopranos.

00:05:47.760 Mad Men.

00:05:48.280 Mad Men, The Shield.

00:05:49.980 The Office was in its prime,

00:05:51.320 I think in its prime,

00:05:52.580 probably the greatest comedy of all time.

00:05:54.800 And then a bunch of others we could name.

00:05:56.140 So all of this was happening

00:05:57.840 at the same time with pop culture.

00:06:00.460 And what you find is this decline

00:06:04.120 that started right around that time,

00:06:06.940 in particular with comedies.

00:06:08.460 There were also great comedies.

00:06:09.720 Super Bad was like the last great teen comedy.

00:06:11.960 It came out in 2007, I believe.

00:06:14.900 Some other,

00:06:15.660 Tropic Thunder came out in 2008.

00:06:17.260 I think the last great comedy period.

00:06:18.740 And then you see it there

00:06:22.160 and it starts to decline

00:06:23.120 and then it completely falls apart.

00:06:25.480 And over the next,

00:06:26.860 pretty much from 2010 until now,

00:06:29.540 there have been some good films.

00:06:31.220 There have even been some great films,

00:06:32.520 I would say.

00:06:33.040 Even some great television series.

00:06:35.220 Chernobyl, I think,

00:06:35.960 is one of the best miniseries of all time.

00:06:38.020 Came out in 2019.

00:06:39.360 But you're never going to find

00:06:40.720 that kind of volume all at one time.

00:06:42.880 And I think it's because culture declined

00:06:44.800 and then collapsed.

00:06:46.520 And right now,

00:06:47.540 when we're looking around,

00:06:49.040 and this is really a starting point for me,

00:06:50.440 I'm trying to figure out 0.69

00:06:51.620 why does everything suck now? 0.99

00:06:53.060 Everything just sucks 0.99

00:06:53.960 and everybody can feel it. 0.98

00:06:55.480 And why is it?

00:06:56.680 And it's because we don't have a culture anymore.

00:06:59.180 There is no culture.

00:07:00.340 The monoculture,

00:07:01.120 the shared cultural experience

00:07:02.320 is gone.

00:07:03.640 It's dead.

00:07:04.120 It doesn't exist anymore.

00:07:05.140 And it's only going to get worse,

00:07:06.160 I'm afraid to say.

00:07:07.560 And that's because

00:07:08.080 when we go back to 2007, 2008 range,

00:07:10.940 some other things were happening

00:07:12.520 at that moment

00:07:13.940 when Hollywood was reaching,

00:07:15.500 I think, like its pinnacle.

00:07:17.280 Other things were happening

00:07:18.580 that would prove to be its demise.

00:07:21.360 And a lot of people on the right

00:07:22.400 will point to,

00:07:23.140 well, what happened in 2008?

00:07:24.380 Barack Obama came in

00:07:26.460 and that was kind of the beginning

00:07:27.760 of this era of wokeness

00:07:29.060 that we're still living in.

00:07:30.500 And yeah, that is part of it.

00:07:31.960 But that's not even close

00:07:33.360 to the biggest part of it.

00:07:34.220 In fact, I would argue

00:07:34.800 that if Obama was never elected,

00:07:36.400 we would still be seeing

00:07:37.880 a lot of these things today

00:07:38.840 because the other thing

00:07:39.720 that happened in 2007,

00:07:40.900 in June of 2007,

00:07:41.720 is when the iPhone was released.

00:07:43.640 And the iPhone was released.

00:07:45.160 And at that point,

00:07:46.280 within a few years,

00:07:47.120 social media took over.

00:07:48.120 I mean, there were already,

00:07:48.800 of course,

00:07:49.100 Facebook was on at this point.

00:07:51.220 Twitter was in 2006.

00:07:53.060 Instagram, I think,

00:07:53.740 was a couple of years later.

00:07:54.900 But within a few years

00:07:56.240 of the iPhone coming out,

00:07:58.680 everybody now has the internet,

00:07:59.960 of course, on their phone.

00:08:00.600 They're bringing it with them

00:08:01.220 everywhere they go.

00:08:02.560 And social media comes online.

00:08:05.440 It dominates the culture.

00:08:06.780 And then you have the algorithms.

00:08:08.580 And now because of that,

00:08:10.120 we don't have a shared

00:08:11.340 cultural experience anymore.

00:08:12.540 Now we have what we have

00:08:14.060 in our phones.

00:08:14.660 We have this algorithmic,

00:08:16.660 personally designed experience.

00:08:18.860 And rather than it being

00:08:20.660 like a radio station

00:08:21.920 that you listen to

00:08:22.760 with a DJ who's your local DJ

00:08:24.540 and says,

00:08:24.960 hey, listen to this great song,

00:08:26.500 you know,

00:08:26.940 and everyone's listening.

00:08:27.600 Or you go to MTV

00:08:28.340 back in the 90s

00:08:29.440 for the 90s kids.

00:08:30.600 Rather than that,

00:08:31.340 we have this algorithm

00:08:32.260 that just was,

00:08:33.060 it just feeds us content.

00:08:34.900 And the algorithm doesn't care.

00:08:36.300 You know,

00:08:36.440 the algorithm doesn't care

00:08:37.360 what kind of content it is.

00:08:38.760 It doesn't care

00:08:39.100 whether you like it or not.

00:08:39.840 The only thing the algorithm cares about

00:08:41.380 is that you keep watching it.

00:08:43.180 And so it'll serve you up

00:08:44.180 a cute cat video.

00:08:45.280 And then it'll serve you up

00:08:46.080 a video of somebody 0.61

00:08:46.640 getting shot in the head.

00:08:47.560 And then it'll serve you up 0.97

00:08:48.460 a video of somebody

00:08:49.160 falling on a skateboard.

00:08:50.400 And then it'll serve you up

00:08:51.080 a Taylor Swift music video.

00:08:52.200 It does not give

00:08:53.080 the slightest damn

00:08:53.880 what it is. 0.96

00:08:54.600 It just wants you looking at it.

00:08:55.780 And this thing becomes

00:08:56.520 more and more personalized

00:08:57.420 to the kinds of things

00:08:58.340 that you tend to look at.

00:08:59.760 Even if you don't like them,

00:09:00.700 you tend to look at it.

00:09:02.020 And so now we have

00:09:02.820 this weird scenario

00:09:03.760 where if you go to,

00:09:07.560 you know,

00:09:07.720 if you're a parent

00:09:08.760 and you have a 15-year-old son,

00:09:11.760 your son

00:09:13.180 has his own

00:09:15.340 celebrities.

00:09:16.580 He has his own

00:09:17.760 culture that he's in

00:09:19.100 that is

00:09:19.860 almost entirely

00:09:21.060 inaccessible to you.

00:09:22.220 It's incomprehensible to you.

00:09:24.060 It's not like

00:09:24.960 when I was

00:09:25.820 a kid in the 90s

00:09:27.360 and my parents

00:09:28.420 knew that MTV

00:09:29.260 and they didn't really approve

00:09:31.000 of a lot of the

00:09:31.600 pop music

00:09:32.500 and the rap

00:09:32.960 and all that.

00:09:33.440 But they knew

00:09:34.240 who those people were

00:09:35.120 because they were

00:09:35.760 the celebrities.

00:09:36.300 They were the stars

00:09:37.420 and they might not

00:09:38.180 have liked them

00:09:38.660 but they knew

00:09:39.060 who they were.

00:09:39.980 We all shared

00:09:40.780 the same kind of,

00:09:41.620 we were in the same atmosphere

00:09:42.640 of the same stars

00:09:43.500 and celebrities

00:09:44.020 and films.

00:09:45.000 And now

00:09:45.720 you can have someone

00:09:46.740 who their favorite celebrity

00:09:47.980 is some influencer

00:09:49.060 who's got

00:09:50.100 20 million followers

00:09:51.880 but if you're not

00:09:53.280 one of those

00:09:53.640 20 million followers,

00:09:54.600 you have no clue

00:09:55.400 who that person

00:09:55.940 even is

00:09:56.500 at all.

00:09:58.480 And so things

00:09:59.520 are becoming,

00:10:00.040 you know,

00:10:00.540 narrower and narrower

00:10:02.260 and now we bring

00:10:03.160 AI online

00:10:04.320 and we extend that out

00:10:06.200 another five years

00:10:07.240 and now we're going

00:10:08.580 to be in a world

00:10:09.220 where five years

00:10:10.500 from now

00:10:11.040 your favorite film

00:10:13.220 may be a film

00:10:14.880 that no one else

00:10:15.860 on earth has seen

00:10:16.960 because AI

00:10:18.080 will just generate

00:10:19.180 it for you

00:10:19.960 and your favorite

00:10:20.880 pop star

00:10:21.560 will be someone

00:10:22.300 who no one else

00:10:23.360 has heard.

00:10:23.880 Your favorite song

00:10:24.520 is something

00:10:24.940 no one else

00:10:25.700 has listened to.

00:10:26.560 We're already seeing

00:10:27.560 that starting to happen.

00:10:28.420 I think it's going

00:10:28.800 to get worse

00:10:29.320 and the monoculture

00:10:31.140 is dead

00:10:31.480 and now we have

00:10:31.860 this kind of

00:10:32.220 fractured culture

00:10:33.080 that is broken

00:10:34.380 into a billion

00:10:35.000 different pieces

00:10:35.640 and I'm not sure

00:10:38.080 how we pull

00:10:38.460 ourselves out of it.

00:10:39.620 It's depressing.

00:10:40.140 Thanks, man.

00:10:40.720 It is quite depressing.

00:10:42.440 Well, picture this.

00:10:43.000 You walk over

00:10:43.460 to your computer,

00:10:44.180 pull up your entire

00:10:45.020 browsing history,

00:10:46.020 hit print

00:10:46.600 and then nail those pages

00:10:48.080 to your front door

00:10:49.080 for every neighbor to see.

00:10:50.820 Sounds pretty insane, right?

00:10:52.180 Well, that's essentially

00:10:52.920 what's happening

00:10:53.460 every single day

00:10:54.700 unless you're protecting

00:10:55.680 yourself with ExpressVPN.

00:10:57.640 Here's the thing

00:10:58.140 most people don't realize.

00:10:59.580 Your internet provider

00:11:00.560 can see every single

00:11:01.400 website you've ever visited

00:11:02.320 even when you're browsing

00:11:03.540 in incognito mode.

00:11:04.980 In many countries,

00:11:05.540 they're actually required

00:11:06.260 to keep detailed logs

00:11:07.620 of your online activity

00:11:08.520 for years

00:11:09.160 just in case the government

00:11:09.920 wants to take a look at it.

00:11:11.360 And if you're in the U.S.,

00:11:12.020 it gets even worse

00:11:13.040 because internet service providers

00:11:14.520 can literally sell

00:11:15.360 your personal browsing data

00:11:16.580 to whoever they want.

00:11:18.640 Now, you can't stop your ISP

00:11:20.180 from trying to collect

00:11:20.900 this information,

00:11:21.480 but you can make sure

00:11:22.420 they never get it

00:11:23.120 in the first place.

00:11:23.720 That's where ExpressVPN

00:11:24.720 comes in.

00:11:25.580 It encrypts all

00:11:26.140 your online activity

00:11:26.840 before it even reaches

00:11:27.980 your internet provider,

00:11:28.780 turning their logs

00:11:29.560 into complete gibberish.

00:11:30.700 I use ExpressVPN

00:11:32.020 and it gives me

00:11:32.920 total peace of mind

00:11:33.660 that I'm not being

00:11:34.680 tracked and monitored.

00:11:35.660 Plus, it's so simple

00:11:36.600 to use.

00:11:36.880 Just tap one button

00:11:37.780 on your device,

00:11:39.100 phone, laptop, tablet,

00:11:40.280 whatever,

00:11:40.660 and you know your privacy

00:11:41.700 is completely locked down

00:11:43.240 on up to 14 devices.

00:11:44.780 Find out how you could get

00:11:45.440 four months free

00:11:46.120 by scanning the QR code

00:11:47.020 on screen.

00:11:47.540 Click the link

00:11:47.980 in the description box below

00:11:48.920 or by going to

00:11:50.640 expressvpn.com

00:11:52.360 slash walshyt.

00:12:01.240 Because I do think

00:12:02.520 that kind of

00:12:03.860 to the point

00:12:04.480 that's already been raised,

00:12:05.240 the church is getting

00:12:06.460 smaller,

00:12:08.260 but it's also getting

00:12:08.860 more conservative.

00:12:10.100 It's getting more faithful

00:12:10.860 at the same time.

00:12:11.880 And that's kind of

00:12:12.600 what the statistics show us.

00:12:14.380 But then also,

00:12:14.960 what you realize

00:12:15.540 is that you can't

00:12:16.400 really trust the stats

00:12:17.960 because I think

00:12:18.720 what's actually happening

00:12:19.740 is that

00:12:20.520 now that we live

00:12:22.940 in this godless,

00:12:23.800 heathen world,

00:12:24.680 there's no real

00:12:26.120 cultural incentive

00:12:28.320 to just show up

00:12:29.860 to church

00:12:30.420 even though you don't

00:12:31.380 believe and you don't care.

00:12:33.140 So there's no,

00:12:33.460 you don't really have

00:12:34.780 the cultural Christians

00:12:35.900 anymore

00:12:36.340 because there's

00:12:37.620 no incentive for that.

00:12:38.620 You could just not

00:12:39.240 go to church.

00:12:40.000 You could not claim

00:12:41.060 any faith

00:12:41.560 and you'll be fine.

00:12:43.880 And so I think

00:12:44.740 that that is falling off.

00:12:45.900 Now, 20 years ago,

00:12:47.120 30 years ago,

00:12:48.600 if you look at

00:12:49.140 church attendance

00:12:49.720 or whatever else,

00:12:50.600 people that were

00:12:50.980 claiming to be Catholic,

00:12:51.900 claiming to be Christian,

00:12:53.240 it was higher.

00:12:54.220 But a lot of those people,

00:12:56.240 you know,

00:12:56.480 they didn't really believe.

00:12:57.620 They didn't actually care.

00:12:58.660 They were just showing up.

00:12:59.600 They were going

00:12:59.940 through the motions

00:13:00.580 because there was

00:13:01.700 a certain cultural

00:13:02.520 and social,

00:13:04.040 there's a social advantage

00:13:05.140 to it.

00:13:05.900 And now that the social

00:13:06.900 advantage is gone,

00:13:07.660 a lot of those people

00:13:08.260 are falling off.

00:13:09.540 They didn't have the faith.

00:13:10.480 They weren't faithful

00:13:11.740 to begin with.

00:13:12.880 And now the people

00:13:13.880 that are showing up,

00:13:14.800 like they really believe

00:13:16.240 they're there

00:13:16.640 because they really believe.

00:13:17.960 And I also think

00:13:19.240 to someone's point,

00:13:21.240 I wasn't really

00:13:21.660 paying attention,

00:13:22.480 there's this need

00:13:24.260 for meaning.

00:13:24.900 And so what you have,

00:13:25.600 especially with Gen Z,

00:13:27.300 they're, you know,

00:13:29.100 they came into a culture

00:13:30.340 that there's no meaning.

00:13:32.680 There's,

00:13:33.100 there's,

00:13:33.480 there's,

00:13:33.860 it's directionless.

00:13:35.140 And so they have this,

00:13:36.180 this real hunger for meaning,

00:13:37.560 which means that,

00:13:38.840 that's why you have

00:13:39.620 some Gen Z,

00:13:40.420 that they're super Catholic,

00:13:42.000 they're super conservative,

00:13:42.900 they're really traditional,

00:13:44.060 uh,

00:13:45.020 and that's great.

00:13:45.920 And you find that,

00:13:47.000 they're going to the Latin mass 0.97

00:13:47.900 and all that kind of stuff.

00:13:49.000 And then you also have Gen Z,

00:13:50.340 they've gone to the other extreme

00:13:51.920 and they're getting into LGBT

00:13:53.080 and trans and all that.

00:13:54.140 But it's,

00:13:54.480 it's all,

00:13:55.720 it is all this intense hunger

00:13:57.380 for,

00:13:58.080 for meaning.

00:13:58.680 And some of them

00:13:59.420 are finding the right place.

00:14:00.480 Some of them are finding

00:14:01.380 the wrong place.

00:14:02.260 Well,

00:14:02.620 I was thinking about,

00:14:03.380 uh,

00:14:03.840 Matt,

00:14:04.240 your,

00:14:04.540 the point you made about,

00:14:05.440 uh,

00:14:06.220 not,

00:14:06.600 not to,

00:14:07.040 not to,

00:14:07.540 um,

00:14:08.280 oversimplify,

00:14:09.000 but it's a little bit of like,

00:14:09.740 fake it till you make it.

00:14:10.580 Like,

00:14:11.360 you know,

00:14:12.020 maybe,

00:14:12.360 maybe you don't fully believe this,

00:14:13.800 but if it's,

00:14:15.340 if it's not true,

00:14:15.900 you got nothing to lose

00:14:16.880 by sort of acting as though it is.

00:14:19.460 And then at,

00:14:20.860 at,

00:14:20.980 at maybe as you act as though it is,

00:14:22.740 you'll,

00:14:22.960 you'll,

00:14:23.220 you'll come to believe it

00:14:24.060 if I understand kind of your point.

00:14:25.720 And I think that

00:14:26.660 in many cases in life,

00:14:29.720 I actually think fake it till you make it

00:14:31.160 is,

00:14:31.440 is,

00:14:31.680 is maybe one of the wisest cliches

00:14:33.960 that's,

00:14:34.340 um,

00:14:34.920 ever been uttered because

00:14:36.000 that is true for a lot of things.

00:14:37.660 I mean,

00:14:37.840 I've said this many times about

00:14:39.260 depression.

00:14:40.780 You know,

00:14:41.220 people say,

00:14:42.180 well,

00:14:42.300 I'm,

00:14:42.420 I'm so unhappy.

00:14:43.180 I don't know how to be not depressed.

00:14:44.740 Well,

00:14:44.860 just pretend you're not like,

00:14:46.440 just act like you're not pretend

00:14:48.100 you're not unhappy.

00:14:49.120 Just go around,

00:14:50.140 totally fake it,

00:14:51.160 be completely fake and phony 0.94

00:14:52.560 and act like you are not depressed. 0.86

00:14:54.400 And,

00:14:54.900 and you will find that,

00:14:56.140 that,

00:14:56.380 that you actually become less depressed

00:14:57.540 because you're acting like it.

00:14:58.720 So I think that that is often true 1.00

00:15:00.140 with a lot of things.

00:15:00.860 Matt,

00:15:01.080 how's that working out with you

00:15:02.100 for the show?

00:15:03.140 Just wondering.

00:15:04.100 But I'm not,

00:15:04.720 I'm not faking it though.

00:15:05.700 That's the thing.

00:15:06.140 I'm not faking it at all.

00:15:07.540 Uh,

00:15:07.940 but I,

00:15:08.320 but the,

00:15:08.780 so,

00:15:09.220 but the,

00:15:09.820 so I think there's a lot of truth to that,

00:15:11.200 but the counterpoint when it comes to religion

00:15:12.860 in particular is that,

00:15:13.960 like I,

00:15:14.260 I said,

00:15:14.720 what feels like a two and a half hours ago

00:15:16.920 that it's like people were doing people,

00:15:20.140 people were doing that in the culture

00:15:21.780 when there was a,

00:15:22.320 when there was a social incentive,

00:15:23.500 they were going to church,

00:15:24.820 they were going,

00:15:25.300 they were going through the motions.

00:15:26.600 And then as the social incentive fell off,

00:15:28.960 they just stopped going.

00:15:30.020 And so in a way they were kind of faking it,

00:15:32.600 um,

00:15:33.020 but they didn't make it,

00:15:34.140 you know,

00:15:34.400 so it didn't,

00:15:35.080 it,

00:15:35.320 that,

00:15:35.500 that didn't seem to quite work on a,

00:15:37.640 on a societal scale,

00:15:38.940 uh,

00:15:39.400 in our,

00:15:39.680 in our country.
