00:01:03.700 hey everyone i'm megan kelly welcome to the megan kelly show we have a lot to get to today so we're
00:01:14.380 gonna dive right in in just a bit the pastor whose service was interrupted by don lemon and
00:01:20.780 the agitators in minnesota will join me live i'm really looking forward to talking to him
00:01:26.720 and getting his take on don's ridiculous defenses also democratic nominee for the u.s senate in texas
00:01:33.900 james tallarico maybe worse than jasmine crockett i've got to be honest i i've been paying that much
00:01:41.020 attention to that race i mean i knew jasmine crockett was up against the guy who was on colbert
00:01:46.500 and that whole kerfuffle happened around that appearance that's about as much as you know i
00:01:51.940 knew about it what a nightmare they should have gone with crockett i like i thought they dodged a
00:01:57.440 bullet because she's so weird and controversial and like odd the the fake version of her anyway
00:02:03.140 the version that got elected seems actually kind of normal um this guy he's like he's insane
00:02:10.160 and clearly the republicans were holding back all their oppo research on him until after he got the
00:02:16.740 nomination to the point now where like tim miller who's a never trumper um like one of the lead now
00:02:24.800 democrat haters of trump is out there saying maybe we should like start nominating people who didn't
00:02:31.280 make a lot of social media posts during peak woke so the democrats are already worried about this seat
00:02:37.100 but of course there's drama on the republican side too which we will get to plus homeland security
00:02:43.980 secretary christy noem in the hot seat on capitol hill asked point blank if she's had sexual relations
00:02:50.440 with cory lewandowski that's so uncomfortable i'm so uncomfortable her husband's sitting right behind
00:02:56.720 her i just like tell me when it's over um we've got thoughts because now the president is reportedly
00:03:04.560 very unhappy with an answer that she gave the other day that we weighed in on and we will tell you
00:03:10.580 what's happening there and then overnight this just broke about an hour ago pop icon britney spears
00:03:17.460 arrested for a dui in california we will dig into the details of that here to help me do all of this
00:03:23.580 is mk media's own emily jashinsky she hosts after party live now at 9 p.m eastern on youtube
00:03:29.520 on mondays and wednesdays as well as the megan kelly wrap-up show right here on the megan kelly
00:03:34.060 channel series xm 111 our sponsor the electronic payments coalition says washington politicians are
00:03:41.700 always getting in your wallet and now they're messing with your credit card they say your credit
00:03:46.760 card and the security it offers are under attack and that senators dick durbin and roger marshall want
00:03:52.300 to change the nation's payment system to benefit corporate megastores like walmart and target at the
00:03:57.680 expense of everyday americans credit cards can keep your payments secure and provide rewards that
00:04:03.380 families use to help make everyday purchases more affordable the electronic payments coalition says
00:04:08.480 the durbin marshall mandates would let corporate megastores cut corners on credit card processing
00:04:13.680 routing transactions over cheaper untested networks with weaker security and fewer protections
00:04:19.080 find out more at guard your card.com and consider telling congress to guard your card
00:04:25.520 ej welcome back great to see you to see you megan i know it's bizarre but i am going to start with
00:04:31.820 the britney news only because it just broke and let's face it we need a break from iran that that's
00:04:38.540 just such a doubt are you saying these stories are not related you're on the record the britney arrest
00:04:43.160 i mean time will tell time you know maybe she was really upset with what she saw in iran
00:04:49.900 so she she hit the bottle she was listening to you and glenn yesterday and she was like i can't take
00:04:55.040 it anymore yeah i mean i got that feedback from a lot of our listeners they also hit the bottle after
00:04:59.860 listening to this whole thing um i have to say like i think the nation really cares about her i really do
00:05:05.740 i think she's more than just a singer pop icon she's got 42 million followers on instagram
00:05:11.380 because we watched her grow up so we all feel like we know her i think a lot of us feel invested in
00:05:18.460 like her wellness care because we saw the uh conservatorship that her dad had control of for
00:05:25.480 so long and she didn't have her freedom and she was micromanaged by you know hollywood management
00:05:30.540 companies and her dad and like doesn't seem to have gotten the benefit of all of her hard work her
00:05:36.200 well seemed to have evaporated into the hands of other people and she started when she was 15 or 16
00:05:42.040 so we watched that girl with oops i did it again turn into this and i say this lovingly hot mess who
00:05:48.920 now we see on instagram with these bizarre dancing videos we're going to show you one i've been noticing
00:05:55.840 it myself lately it pops up in your feed and you can see kind of the deterioration with her like
00:06:00.160 sometimes she just does dancing where you're like okay she's dancing and sometimes you're like oh wow
00:06:04.360 no something's going wrong there deb do we have one that we're going to show let's watch it
00:06:08.360 she's basically in her underwear or a bikini i just got the very heavy eyeliner on she almost
00:06:28.060 looked like she was doing like maybe a gun motion underneath the chin i'm not sure it's like the
00:06:33.060 finger to the bottom of the chin move and this is what she does all the time emily she just posts
00:06:38.700 inappropriate videos of herself with weird dancing it's not even like great britney spears dancing
00:06:44.560 that she's capable of it's like weird herky jerky movements from somebody who looks drug adult to me
00:06:50.500 she definitely looks like she's on drugs and nobody steps in you know like we went from conservatorship
00:06:55.940 which was too much to like apparently no help at all which is evident and now that this news breaks
00:07:03.060 she's been arrested for dui in california her manager i guess it is uh kate hudson releases the
00:07:11.440 following statement this was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable this is a statement
00:07:18.020 obtained by the new york post page six britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the
00:07:22.620 law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in britney's
00:07:28.140 life hopefully she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time uh unusually
00:07:33.440 good statement for a talent manager uh so what do you make of her arrest now for dwi or d ui which is
00:07:40.520 slightly less severe than dwi i was going to say exactly the same thing about that statement it sort
00:07:45.060 of presents this glass half full perspective on what just happened because as you were pointing out
00:07:49.600 the conservatorship was you know to hear britney spears put it at this very moving hearing when the
00:07:56.020 conservatorship was on the table uh she spoke in court about how because of the conservatorship she
00:08:01.220 had been drugged against her will for many many years and so when i'm reading between the lines of
00:08:06.660 that statement i'm thinking did she you know with all of the drugs that she had been given including
00:08:11.880 lithium while she was under the conservatorship for many many years go from having this cocktail
00:08:17.800 um that was given to her under that legal control to not getting at all uh the right off-ramp medically
00:08:26.480 the right off-ramp from many years spent on all of those different drugs uh because i agree with you
00:08:31.300 megan she's clearly on something in all of these videos that are posted regularly on her account they're
00:08:37.420 so uncomfortable they're so sad everybody knows that something's wrong people genuinely just want this
00:08:42.060 woman to be happy she is a mother we all watched her become a mother we've watched her as a daughter
00:08:47.260 we've watched her as a sister her sister is also a little sister is also very famous so it's just
00:08:53.000 i mean to me i agree there's there's clearly in the videos a substance abuse problem that is then
00:08:58.840 being confirmed by the fact that she just got dui so i hope that that's what the problem i hope that
00:09:05.200 her her manager here whoever gave the statement is correct that maybe this is the right step to her
00:09:09.200 getting the medication sorted out mm-hmm she um that this via tmz just now they write
00:09:16.700 britney spears was crying while being booked in jail for alleged driving under the influence
00:09:21.620 sources tell tmz that britney was very emotional while being processed at the ventura county sheriff's
00:09:27.300 office wednesday night we're told she did not act out of the ordinary aside from crying a lot
00:09:33.480 she's 44 she was arrested in ventura county california um she was handcuffed by the california highway
00:09:42.000 patrol around 9 30 p.m last night and she was booked by the sheriff's department around 3 a.m released
00:09:48.560 from jail this morning at 6 a.m i can't believe she's 44 that's like that's so shocking right like
00:09:54.600 she she's kind of almost forever 16 in my mind and she's been through a lot a lot i mean the number one
00:10:03.880 thing she's been through is she became a megastar in her teens which is the absolute last thing you
00:10:11.720 should want for your child absolute last it never ends well you know look at justin bieber right now
00:10:19.580 it's like massive fame massive fame at any age is warping is i think mentally damaging to somebody
00:10:29.200 it's why so many mega mega stars turn out very weird like michael jackson but massive fame at a
00:10:36.240 the tender age of a teenager like a bieber or spears is almost guaranteed to seriously f you up
00:10:44.540 and so like we saw her with the meltdowns with the bald head and the umbrella then she married
00:10:50.200 kevin federlein and that that was a disaster she heard the romance with justin timberlake and then it
00:10:55.720 came out that he strong-armed her into getting an abortion that she didn't want which causes
00:11:00.400 lifelong damage for a woman i mean that you just don't overcome that when you don't want an abortion
00:11:04.560 you get one anyway even if you want an abortion you get when it can cause lifelong damage as you get
00:11:08.860 older and you realize what you've done you've killed your own child um and then just the height
00:11:15.540 of the fame the control of the managers the father and so on here's kevin federlein just this past
00:11:21.540 october he was he wrote a tell-all book and he went on with pierce morgan listen here i understand
00:11:27.720 that this hurts and the truth hurts and all of that and that is not what i want i'm not trying to hurt
00:11:33.380 anybody i'm trying to put a perspective on it and show people that help is needed now because time is
00:11:43.540 running out and when you say time is running out what do you mean
00:11:48.420 i it's exactly what it sounds like i don't you know i don't want my kids waking up having to deal
00:11:58.220 with the unimaginable the their mother might die
00:12:02.920 yes
00:12:05.860 yeah he's the father of her two sons i think we all have that fear right i mean you can't look at
00:12:15.200 her in those videos and not have that fear and you mentioned michael jackson i think that's a fear
00:12:20.160 people had with michael jackson and other celebrities too who unfortunately their lives ended too soon where
00:12:26.060 you see this playing out in real time it's obvious so no surprise that he said that your point about the
00:12:31.960 mega fame is so important i mean she's somebody who was in the literally in the mickey mouse club
00:12:37.280 um and that's my this is like smack my generation i remember buying uh oops i did it again when i was
00:12:43.720 pretty young and she was put forward in the press as this all-american girl she ended up really having
00:12:50.340 the worst of both worlds of this like last gasp of celebrity monoculture where there were true
00:12:56.220 mega mega mega celebrities uh now there are still very famous people for gen z you know like
00:13:01.860 billy eilish just about everybody knows who billy eilish is but there's so much more uh siloed
00:13:07.460 uh culture that she was really like one of the last big big monoculture celebrities who was this
00:13:16.060 multi multi-million dollar business dare i say like multi-billion dollar business uh that was around her
00:13:23.160 the tabloid culture like you mentioned the age of perez hilton blogging where he was you know scribbling
00:13:29.120 on the pictures so she's right at that period and now she's in this period of social media
00:13:34.020 where she ostensibly has control over her accounts which is not something that ever happened in the
00:13:39.560 90s or the early aughts you everything was funneled through a team and it is for many celebrities still
00:13:45.180 but clearly not on her instagram so she's splitting these two eras in a way that i think is heart-wrenching
00:13:50.480 because she was sold as this all-american girl who was living the dream from louisiana
00:13:55.780 so talented gets plucked out of small town louisiana uh just a normal typical american family
00:14:02.680 thrust into mega stardom very sexualized and now we're seeing it all up close that's a very good
00:14:10.840 point i mean we didn't really even talk about that that she didn't just rise to fame like a bieber
00:14:16.340 where that would have been damaging enough but young women like britney i mean she was a girl
00:14:22.300 she was 15 or 16 um very hyper sexualized i mean look at the video for that oops i did it again
00:14:29.000 the baby one more time one all midriff yeah where she's in the school girl i was like yeah yeah
00:14:33.680 yes yes fulfilling like the weird fantasies of god knows how many men staring at this actual like 15
00:14:41.540 or 16 year old girl and let's face it her parents were fine with it i know i realized britney was probably
00:14:47.540 fine with it too but she's the minor that's why you have parents kids make dumb ass decisions all
00:14:52.680 the time um you know i i was thinking about it this winter as we heard these terrible decisions about
00:14:58.620 kids dying because during the terrible snowstorms they could they tied their sleds up to like a friend's
00:15:06.340 jeep or a friend's atv and died and the kid teenagers do dumb things all the time they don't have a
00:15:14.000 good feel for what's existential that's why they have parents you know who are supposed to step in
00:15:19.940 and watch out for them and i'm sorry but britney spears's parents the mother seemed to be enjoying
00:15:25.880 the daughter's fame and fortune and the father times a thousand he was like he couldn't keep his
00:15:33.080 hands off of her fortune or her life except to actually parent her except to actually make sure
00:15:38.480 she didn't have that gaping hole inside of her that made her think wealth and celebrity was going
00:15:44.500 to make her feel whole right that was something he seemed to have missed all the way up to when she
00:15:49.400 had the the performance the residency in las vegas and he seemed to be putting her out there every
00:15:54.940 night addled and unwell but like sticking the you know adrenaline in the horse at the race track like
00:16:02.480 get out there and fucking run while the checks were cashing and now now you see her alone that's one
00:16:08.320 thing you noticed in all these videos emily she's always alone she looks like no one's tended to
00:16:13.180 her you know she kind of looks like a ragamuffin as my mom would call me on the days i didn't brush my
00:16:17.720 hair and um it's sad you know you you want somebody to step in i almost feel like the dui could be good
00:16:24.400 because as the manager put it like maybe maybe now with the public humiliation that she's clearly
00:16:30.580 gonna suffer because she knows i mean this was this is the lead on cnn it was the lead on our show today
00:16:36.060 that you know it if i got a dui it would make the news because i'm a public figure but it wouldn't
00:16:42.400 be the lead on on a bunch of news channels i mean that's unique to britney and it it might it's a it's
00:16:47.620 a bad thing for her short term but it might be a good thing for her long you know what's interesting
00:16:50.920 i just thought of this justin timberlake is fighting sag harbor right now uh so to prevent releases from
00:16:57.460 his own dui from coming out a couple of years ago uh that's almost like a tragic and he's another
00:17:03.980 child star yes and again i think gen z doesn't understand exactly how that couple affected
00:17:10.720 popular culture how like massive massive the fact that those two were a couple was for both of their
00:17:16.540 like hashtag brands which wasn't really a thing at the time but that was so so significant and the
00:17:22.520 sexualization of britney spears was happening really in tandem with that they were both in the mickey
00:17:27.140 mouse club and they as they grew up it reminds me so much of what you've covered with the
00:17:31.860 information we've learned behind the scenes of nickelodeon about amanda binds and drake bell
00:17:36.500 uh the things that were happening behind the scenes in the 90s and early aughts was just utterly
00:17:42.380 disgusting it was abusive we should say that it's abusive with britney spears we can see it happening
00:17:48.100 within the last decade your point about her dad who is basically treating her as this is a strong
00:17:52.680 word a slave making her drugging her making her go perform and
00:17:57.140 then taking the money for himself and this is all within like the last decade so it would be in
00:18:01.960 retrospect crazy for us to expect britney spears to get out of that conservatorship and just be fine
00:18:06.820 i haven't seen this woman lucid in probably 20 years seriously and when she was lucid you see how
00:18:12.640 sweet she was the fact that she was crying at the police station just cut so deep because she
00:18:18.360 she's always i know it makes me want to swoop in there and help her personally like i i i think she
00:18:23.960 she should come live with my family and me for like six months i feel like we could really help
00:18:28.060 i love that i feel like she needs like strong positive influences in her life and something
00:18:35.060 other than drugs to fill her up and stupid provocative instagram videos and clicks or likes
00:18:41.620 to fill her up the um you mentioned the nickelodeon thing so yes that what that what nickelodeon has done
00:18:48.800 to a generation of child stars is absolutely disgusting and filthy and we've covered it a lot
00:18:53.840 on the show as you point out but her sister jamie lynn is one of the stars who went over there only to be
00:19:00.360 mistreated in my view by the guy who was running it who wound up never admitting to any molestation or
00:19:06.840 never being explicitly accused of molestation but definitely mistreating you know cast member after
00:19:13.300 cast member subjecting them to inappropriate behaviors on the set including demi not demi
00:19:18.600 lovato um oh ariana grande yeah ariana grande like the biggest star in the country really uh right now
00:19:26.860 who was on his set and he had her like squeezing uh i don't know some sort of a fruit all over herself
00:19:34.940 while she was upside down all over like her you know top i mean he was absolutely filthy in the choices
00:19:40.180 he made for these kids these parents kept turning their kids over to him thinking oh you're gonna
00:19:44.300 be a star gonna be star and one of those parents was britney spears mom who put jamie lynn over on
00:19:50.060 the set and this is from actually the documentary from which we got a lot of this information called
00:19:55.280 quiet on the set the dark side of kids tv here uh let's watch it there are these goo pops and my
00:20:03.180 character can't get it open it's not coming out and it ends up squirting onto jamie's face
00:20:15.740 so the prop a person comes onto set with a syringe we all like stood behind the camera to watch
00:20:25.180 watch it lands on her face so first it was dan roaring laughing and then everyone kind of giggling
00:20:38.700 we heard the boys saying it's a shot
00:20:44.300 and i had no idea
00:20:45.580 what that meant once i saw it again as an adult was when that memory came back so i was like oh
00:20:54.540 oh oh oh wasn't funny it still isn't funny to me to be honest it's just like that's a kid
00:21:04.380 that was alexa nicholas the star of zoe 101 she was on our show and there she is from the documentary
00:21:10.380 talking about what was done to to britney's little sister jamie lynn with the so-called you know you
00:21:16.220 know what shot on her face for the listening audience when you see jamie lynn in this clip
00:21:21.100 she looks like 13 maybe i mean she looks extremely young and she's describing what this guy dan schneider
00:21:31.020 had done to her uh who ran nickelodeon i mean he was the big show creator for all the big stars
00:21:37.180 including jamie lynn spears including um amanda bynes including ariana grande and um this is what
00:21:45.660 i'm sorry like i i'm sorry to be so harsh on the spears parents but they deserve it like that that's
00:21:51.500 this is what happens when you shove your kids into an overly sexualized environment too soon too young
00:22:00.380 with too little supervision and love and it's money all around i mean i think what we've seen with
00:22:06.940 them is they were clearly blinded by the wealth and the fame and it's money from nickelodeon's
00:22:12.700 perspective uh and it's so disgusting the fact that you would be getting money from that but
00:22:17.420 that stuff doesn't go out on air um unless the person at the top like a dan schneider thinks it's
00:22:22.780 it's good and uh that's insane i mean the fact that that could have ever aired on children's
00:22:28.140 television you look at it and you just think even even back then uh we weren't that different as
00:22:34.460 americans back then uh parents must have been watching that and thinking to themselves what the
00:22:38.700 hell is this yes i watch those shows that's this is my demographic i don't remember this stuff but for
00:22:45.580 parents to be like yeah who who would use a tween for this so-called you know what shot who would do
00:22:53.100 that and by the way my team just sent me you know jamie lynn spears did indeed start at nickelodeon when she
00:22:58.620 was 13 years old so that she may have been 13 in that clip i wasn't far off she get pregnant when
00:23:04.380 she was doing that 16 or 17 she she was a teen mother yes that she was 16 and here's this look
00:23:13.100 at this my team pulled this from britney's book speaking of her parents she started drinking with
00:23:19.660 her mom this is britney now not jamie lynn britney started drinking with her mom at age 14 age 14 with her
00:23:26.620 mother spears writes that starting in the eighth grade she would take trips with her mother lynn
00:23:30.860 spears to biloxi mississippi to drink daiquiris quote i loved that i was able to drink with my mom
00:23:36.940 every now and then she writes who adds that she and her mother were happy drinkers while her father
00:23:42.300 quote grew more depressed and shut down when he drank the two would take britney's younger sister
00:23:46.900 jamie lynn to the beach and drink white russians which britney writes she thought tasted like ice cream
00:23:52.780 this is sick this is abusive behavior by the mother quote no matter how much i dieted and exercised
00:23:58.460 my father was always telling me i was fat punishing gym routines left her feeling out of my mind she
00:24:05.900 wrote her diet was monitored along with every other detail of her life while she went through the motions
00:24:11.340 of her las vegas residency now this is recent history the las vegas residency quote my body was strong
00:24:17.340 enough to carry two children and agile enough to execute every choreograph move perfectly on stage
00:24:23.100 and now here i was having every calorie recorded so people could continue to get rich off of my body
00:24:31.820 that's that's how you wind up like that emily notwithstanding worldwide fame and adoration and
00:24:39.180 money so voluminous you don't quite know what to do with it yeah your own father isn't tracking
00:24:44.860 your calories like that unless he's trying to make money off of you uh that's it's so so disgusting um
00:24:51.340 it does recall the stories of the jackson father michael jackson's father and we see it time and again
00:24:57.740 i mean i'm sure there are people who get into show business and they're aware of these stories of like
00:25:02.540 what happened with britney spears and michael jackson before they go down this road by the way it goes back
00:25:06.860 to judy garland it's not just purely modern but people are aware of it and they think they can withstand
00:25:13.100 it it's not going to happen to them but the pressures of fame and money are difficult for
00:25:19.260 the strongest people and so to be able to withstand those pressures is borderline impossible i would
00:25:27.020 argue without faith but britney spears people may remember was also actively marketed as somebody who
00:25:33.500 was a person of faith and that was clearly done by her team and her parents and i don't know that how
00:25:39.260 serious they ever were about that clearly um because they got sucked so easily into this world
00:25:44.060 for both of their children while they were watching it happen with their older daughter they then put
00:25:48.060 their younger daughter into it obviously because they were so blinded by money yeah they wanted the
00:25:53.740 dough and and not just like you know mickey mouse club okay so it started off g-rated enough but it
00:25:59.660 was very soon thereafter r-rated and both parents seemed fine what what mother is having white russians
00:26:06.060 with her 14 year old daughter and the younger sister she says i don't know what age they were then and then comes
00:26:13.420 the abortion incident with justin timberlake uh that she she wrote as follows abortion was something i never
00:26:19.740 could have imagined choosing for myself but given the circumstances that is what we did the two decided to handle the
00:26:25.660 abortion at home in the bathroom spears took little pills to end the pregnancy the pain she writes was
00:26:32.220 unbelievable saying it was one of the most agonizing things i have ever experienced spears recalls that
00:26:38.700 while she was lying on the floor in the bathroom timberlake came to join her and thinking music would
00:26:43.580 help started strumming his guitar while she cried i mean this is just if something massive doesn't happen
00:26:53.740 she's going to be dead she's not going to make it to age 50 i think we can all see that that seems
00:26:58.620 clearly to be what kevin fetterlein was trying to say and he has a stake in it because his kids
00:27:05.180 are her children that's their mom they you know she had her kids young but no no kid a young kid or a
00:27:12.940 kid in their 20s or 30s doesn't want to see their mom die thanks to drug or alcohol use and everyone can
00:27:19.340 see this is the road she's on and you know every time we get another one of these particularly wacky
00:27:24.380 videos or more news about britney's struggles it's another round of gotchas about the conservatorship
00:27:30.620 saying everybody told you uh the getting rid of this conservatorship was wrong she was clearly
00:27:35.660 crazy and it's like the conservatorship was probably the precipitating factor for a lot of
00:27:40.620 this that she was being drugged against her will treated like a slave to get money for her dad
00:27:45.580 via vegas residencies so i don't really want to hear that this time around either because that
00:27:50.300 clearly was not a good option for britney spears either obviously she needs treatment obviously she's
00:27:55.500 not getting it and obviously nobody around her is doing the right thing i mean maybe kevin fetterlein
00:28:01.500 is but obviously she needs some type of jarring moment thank god she survived this one and it might be
00:28:08.220 what helps her get you know treated and thank god she didn't kill anybody else while getting behind
00:28:14.620 the wheel intoxicated i mean it's really such a crazy thing to do justin timberlake too i mean
00:28:19.740 that picture of him having been arrested at that in the hamptons a couple summers ago they have all
00:28:25.020 the money in the world i mean you or i would call an uber at a minimum you know in their position you
00:28:31.580 call the driver you know of a black car that you get right like that's the next level up from an uber
00:28:38.060 they can easily afford that they can have that person drive them around all night they can drink to
00:28:41.660 their heart's content like to not do that and then get behind the car like look it's not the 80s
00:28:46.860 anymore you know in the 80s i haven't grown up then i can say people did drink and drive it was done
00:28:52.140 far more frequently because there was no uber and it was i mean sadly more acceptable until mad really
00:28:57.820 came out with its organization really stigmatizing it and getting the word out today that the kids they
00:29:03.660 don't drink and drive they all call ubers like they they understand the dangers of this she's from a
00:29:08.460 different era and so is justin timberlake and just the the irresponsibility of putting everybody else's
00:29:14.460 life in danger after you've had drinks and you know you're not capable of driving is shocking it's
00:29:21.580 shocking and it's just how grossly irresponsible it is so in any event i i say i pray for her i don't
00:29:28.140 think this is her fault like i obviously getting behind the wheel is her fault but like the net net
00:29:33.020 condition of britney's life was created by people who were supposed to love her and i really hope
00:29:39.100 someone maybe it's federline maybe it's her sons who are now for uh 19 and 20 uh they currently live
00:29:45.580 in hawaii with their dad kevin can step in and help her in any event i did not expect to spend half
00:29:51.420 an hour on that but it it it's like more of a cultural commentary emily you know it's more it's
00:29:55.580 more than just about britney we care about her but like i just don't want her to be another matthew
00:29:59.260 perry i'm so sick of coming on the air and talking about stars we love who are dead things to drugs
00:30:04.300 and you can just clearly see she's on that train and it's always for treating fame it's always for
00:30:09.340 treating fame um and they're they're always taking the drugs to as sedatives typically uh downers that
00:30:16.620 just help you get through and it's the exact paradoxical effect people think fame comes with
00:30:21.580 uh which is you know you never have any problems again well it ends up creating a huge baggage on
00:30:27.340 people's everyday lives so it's it's so it just causes more yeah um okay let's keep going because
00:30:35.180 while we're on the subject of women having a difficult time i guess we'll do christy noem next
00:30:40.300 so christy noem goes on perfect before um the senate committee and they're overseeing her role as dhs
00:30:49.420 secretary and obviously she was going to have a hard time given everything that happened in minneapolis
00:30:54.060 these democrats are wanting to emerge with her jugular but what's been surprising is so do a
00:30:59.740 few republicans and it shows you that she's not well loved and perhaps not secure in her position
00:31:08.060 right now that you had more than one republican coming for her um but the clip that made headlines
00:31:14.460 everywhere was not a republican it was a democrat who i have to say this was so uncomfortable who asked
00:31:21.020 her about the rumors that she's i mean listen it's been printed up in the daily mail we've discussed
00:31:26.220 it on this show it is an open secret in washington uh that she's despite the fact married she denies it
00:31:34.460 for the record but it is an open secret that she is having a long-term affair with cory lewandowski
00:31:40.460 also married he's also married oh i didn't know that okay he's also married i but it to bring it up
00:31:48.860 at the dhs oversight and the way the woman did it was to say you're sleeping with a subordinate and we
00:31:56.060 have a right to ask which was almost too clever but i felt so uncomfortable i want to get your take on
00:32:01.180 it here was the moment uh sat 24 so secretary noem at any time during your tenure as director of
00:32:09.500 department of homeland security have you had sexual relations with cory lewandowski
00:32:15.340 mr chairman i am shocked that we're going down and peddling tabloid garbage in this committee
00:32:22.380 today reclaiming and ma'am one thing that i would tell you is that he is a special government employee
00:32:27.260 who works for the white house there are thousands of them in the federal government you should be able
00:32:32.060 to answer the question what we do at the department of homeland security every single day without any
00:32:36.540 hesitation every single day is to protect if someone is asking to make decisions you or any federal
00:32:41.660 official is sleeping with their subordinate that should be the easiest you should be wanting to
00:32:46.140 answer that question as garbage because it is not about your sense that you have brought it is about
00:32:50.940 your judgment that kind of garbage it is about reclaiming my time so that i can hear myself
00:33:00.780 i'm sure she would have done this had christy noem been a democrat too for sure she would have been
00:33:05.900 super worried about office protocol and not having the female boss sleep with any subordinates by the
00:33:11.900 way cory lewandowski i mean to refer to him as a subordinate is like such a joke he's probably the
00:33:18.620 reason she got the role right like he he is an operative he is a player within the trump administration
00:33:24.860 he's extremely well connected and there is it's absurd to refer to him as like this powerless
00:33:31.660 the male equivalent of an ingenue this doe-eyed little deer who's been Monica Lewinsky
00:33:38.780 right it's ridiculous i don't know what's going on in their marriages and i kind of feel like it's
00:33:44.300 none of my business but okay i guess arguably it is given that they both work for the government
00:33:49.900 in any event what did you make of this the woman's name who did this is um
00:33:53.500 sydney camiager dove she's a democrat from california or last i checked they're pretty
00:34:02.140 relaxed about shit like that emily but if you are a republican not relaxed well i mean
00:34:07.100 who was just in the news the last week the clintons where democrats are saying none of our business
00:34:11.900 none of our business so no nobody has the moral high ground here i will say i think it's a fair
00:34:17.260 question because Lewandowski status as a special government employee means he's getting paid by
00:34:22.460 the government he's known trump longer than gnome has he knows trump better than gnome does so it's
00:34:27.180 ridiculous to put him as cory Lewandwinski uh in this situation but it's also just like
00:34:34.860 i can't believe that i just got it that's very funny her husband's sitting behind her her husband
00:34:40.220 was sitting behind her and the hearing is horrible and they need to have a better answer than just
00:34:44.860 punting on it clearly everyone is aware of what's happening the husband's aware of it
00:34:49.420 Lewandowski and gnome are like he's been seen coming in and out of her residences so oh they take
00:34:55.820 business trips together where she sits on his lap i mean this like literally every republican
00:35:00.380 in washington will tell you about this like when they talk to me about it they don't say like
00:35:04.700 keep it on the down low they're like it's amazing how brazen they are yeah they do it in front
00:35:08.060 of everyone they'll be like holding hands and stuff like everybody's seen it so they just need
00:35:11.740 to have an answer they need to figure it out because he is a special government employee that
00:35:15.100 is working for the administration that she's a she's a cabinet official so i do think it's it's
00:35:20.380 fair game even if the dem in the situation doesn't exactly have the moral high ground i know i like i i look
00:35:27.100 forward to her cross examinations of the you know of gavin newsom let's say he becomes president i'd love
00:35:32.940 to know what happens in that marriage um not to mention the previous one which he's admitted he cheated on
00:35:37.980 kimberly guilfoyle um okay john kennedy who we love he's hilarious he's like one of the most
00:35:44.380 entertaining funny senators we have from louisiana he's a republican he got up in her grill we played
00:35:49.980 this at the other day but now something's happened as a result of it involving trump uh let's place that
00:35:54.780 you have spent 220 million dollars running television advertisements that feature you prominently
00:36:09.900 sir the president tasked me with getting the message out to the country and to other countries
00:36:15.100 where we were seeing the invasion come from with with putting commercials out that told them that if
00:36:20.460 they were in this country illegally that they needed to leave or we would detain them and remove
00:36:25.180 them and they'd not get the chance to come back to america the right way um that has been extremely
00:36:30.300 effective ask you to run these advertisements is that right we had that conversation the president
00:36:37.420 approved ahead of time you spending 220 million dollars running tv ads across the country in which you
00:36:46.220 are featured prominently yes sir we went through the legal processes did it correct yes he did yes
00:36:56.060 that's the part that's come back to haunt her um i vouched for her the other day on part of this
00:37:03.100 i was told less than a year ago by someone close to the secretary that one of the reasons she was going
00:37:12.380 out herself to like seacott and on some of these ice raids was because trump wanted her to and he did
00:37:19.580 want to do advertisements showing this kind of thing because he thought it would be a deterrent
00:37:26.860 to people who want to come here illegally and that it would also be an incentive to existing illegals in
00:37:33.900 the country to get the hell out before we find you or you could wind up at seacott now that's as much
00:37:39.900 as i could vouch for and i did say i didn't know whether he knew like about the cost of the
00:37:45.260 advertising or anything like that and apparently he didn't because the reports are according to
00:37:49.900 punch bowl news um trump has quietly asked hill republicans if he should fire christy gnome the
00:37:56.860 latest sign of her tenuous standing rights punch bowl inside the west wing according to multiple
00:38:01.580 republicans who have spoken with the president republicans told punch bowl news they are divided on
00:38:06.620 whether removing gnome now would be a good thing considering the ongoing dhs shutdown there's a
00:38:12.700 shutdown right now because the democrats aren't funding it and citing caution over a potentially
00:38:18.780 difficult senate confirmation fight likely for any successor man that's true can you imagine how that
00:38:25.020 would go there we wouldn't have a dhs chief if she got forced out they would not confirm anybody uh
00:38:32.540 who didn't sound like an open borders lover so it's kind of christy gnome or bust and maybe trump's
00:38:37.500 mad enough that he's going to go with bust but he is angry because the reports are that he did not
00:38:42.380 approve a 220 million dollar expenditure allegedly that she gave to somebody she's connected to which
00:38:51.260 she denied she she seemed to be suggesting it was bid out your thoughts well yeah it's significant that we
00:38:57.260 saw senate republicans grilling christy gnome on this because it means it telegraphs that exactly what
00:39:03.260 punch bowl reported uh it's been the the sort of spidey sense everybody's picking up on the white
00:39:08.460 house being unhappy with her and one of the things that i've heard interestingly enough from people in
00:39:12.220 this world is that the gnome hullman division actually is really very real that hullman wanted to focus
00:39:19.100 on worst first gnome wanted to do worst yes but also people who just don't belong in the country that
00:39:25.660 you're picking up throughout these processes and that's that is seen as a significant reason to
00:39:31.420 keep christy gnome in the position but clearly trump is unhappy with the reason she's in the position
00:39:37.420 her public relations ability and that's where the why i'm sorry national review just reported today
00:39:43.260 he's considering mark wayne mullen reportedly as a potential replacement for gnome someone who could
00:39:48.540 maybe get senate confirmed because he's from the senate but i agree with you megan i don't think
00:39:51.900 there's a shot in hell anyone else gets senate confirmed uh for that position you end up with an
00:39:56.460 interim which is what trump had for i believe he had that for part of his first term it's not ideal
00:40:01.820 especially when this is one of your priorities and it looks like you're taking an l on one of your
00:40:06.540 priorities too during a midterm cycle it looks like you gave dems a scalp basically that's right
00:40:12.460 it's too close to the whole minneapolis uh problem to get rid of her i mean i guess he'd get
00:40:18.380 confirmed because republicans control the senate right now and so you really only need the 51
00:40:23.980 votes but does susan collins republicans i mean that's a tough vote for susan i know yeah it's
00:40:29.340 true murkowski you've got some some weaker choices in there um here's what kennedy said after all this
00:40:37.020 broke um he said after the hearing the president of the united states called me and i'm not going to
00:40:43.580 speak for him you folks know him you can ask him yourselves but put it this way his recollection
00:40:49.340 and her recollection are different then he goes on to say i don't have any inside information gentlemen
00:40:55.020 well actually i do but if you're asking me my opinion of mark wayne mullen he's very able and
00:41:02.540 capable guy i mean i'm not going to say anything bad about him he'll whip my ass
00:41:07.020 yes so he's clearly making you know making it known that the president disputed what she said
00:41:16.860 and is unhappy and i can see why i mean because if trump didn't authorize 220 million dollars on the
00:41:23.020 ad campaign he definitely doesn't want that that's a political liability she's putting on him the job of
00:41:28.380 his emissaries is to put the political liabilities on themselves even if trump is guilty which it sounds
00:41:33.580 like he's not here right it's like you're supposed to take the bullet you're the lesser known person
00:41:38.540 you're you know like it's important that they keep trump clean because he's responsible for
00:41:42.940 endorsing candidates to the midterms it's like who cares if christy noem gets dirtied up a little
00:41:47.420 in order to take one for the team but here it looks like it actually she is the one who deserves to be a
00:41:52.060 little dinged up here is um an example of what the ads went went for i'm christy noem the united
00:41:59.020 states secretary of homeland security thank you president donald j trump for securing our border
00:42:05.020 and putting america first let me deliver a message from president trump to the world
00:42:10.300 if you are considering entering america illegally don't even think about it let me be clear if you
00:42:16.620 come to our country and you break our laws we will hunt you down criminals are not welcome in the united
00:42:22.540 states for too long weak leadership has left our borders wide open okay they're very well done
00:42:31.740 they're high end but um it could be they potentially cost her the job okay so that's enough about her
00:42:37.820 let's keep going um jasmine crockett finally admitting that she lost and um she didn't concede on election
00:42:45.980 night she said that people had been disenfranchised but then she came out after the fact and said okay
00:42:50.780 you know i admit this guy james tallarico won and this guy seems like a bigger problem for the dems
00:42:58.380 than jasmine crockett jasmine crockett's weird statements are kind of like her fake street accent
00:43:04.060 and her like this person's a hoe and like calling governor abbott governor hot wheels like stuff like
00:43:12.220 that that's just kind of like ridiculously obnoxious in your face shit but it's not over the top weird
00:43:17.980 woke shit like this guy james tallarico like here in top 13 i want us all to be aware of is that
00:43:25.980 that modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological effects in fact
00:43:32.700 there are six which honestly many modern science would you know surprised me too because i i am you
00:43:39.980 know i'm not well versed in this yeah this issue area i'm not a scientist i'm a politician a lot worse
00:43:44.940 than a scientist i mean let me play one more while while i've got your attention here's um
00:43:52.140 here's on the trans athletes in girls sports issue 16 this is from october of 21 before my constituents
00:43:59.180 elected me to this body i taught middle school and my students are the reason i'm here to make public
00:44:06.860 policy that improves their lives but instead we're doing this endangering the lives of some of our
00:44:14.380 most vulnerable children to solve a problem that doesn't exist when she laid out this bill in front
00:44:22.460 of the public education committee represent swanson summed up the justification for this legislation in one
00:44:29.500 sentence she said if one girl loses a game this bill is worth it i guess we just have a different
00:44:38.940 moral yardstick because i say if one trans child dies to protect someone's damn trophy this bill is grotesque
00:44:49.180 how are they gonna die because they can't run on the girls track team jim i mean this guy he's peak
00:44:57.420 woke emily we're gonna be on this subject for a while because we've got about 25 sound bites we
00:45:03.180 found in two minutes of him sounding as woke as they come on every single one of the left's favorite
00:45:09.820 issues yeah the woke king of texas apparently his uh twitter is a mess he was posting about how excited
00:45:15.340 he was to get an anthony fauci like action figure for christmas one year oh yep there it is incredible
00:45:21.180 oh my god wait wait i'm disconnecting for a second i'll be right back hold on
00:45:29.820 okay i don't have
00:45:33.740 i don't have anthony fauci but i do have kamala harris i have one of these why did you have that
00:45:38.940 so easily in reach because we had her on election night and i threw her off the off the desk but she
00:45:45.660 lived so so i've kept her now but he has one of these of anthony fauci for real and then he posted
00:45:52.460 about it excited about yes it's not it's not just it's not just like peak woke behavior it's like
00:45:58.140 cringe millennial progressivism and it's it's going to be a huge problem for him who by the way i think
00:46:04.620 has otherwise tried very hard to run a campaign that is focused on saying the divide isn't left versus
00:46:11.660 right it's top versus bottom which is a good line i don't think that's a bad line like it's it's a good
00:46:17.020 branding exercise but now he i don't think any gay man should be talking about top versus is he gay
00:46:23.260 though i don't know is he gay i don't know no i don't know i don't know he i don't know if he's gay
00:46:26.620 but he seems gay okay he he's he's given gay oh i'm just gonna say yeah i genuinely don't know uh
00:46:34.540 that's that is interesting but he is he's single oh he's i don't know how old is he steve do we know
00:46:40.460 how old is he he's 36 and single okay well that that doesn't mean you're gay but he gives
00:46:44.940 off some gay vibes steve didn't steve oh no steve voted crockett okay yes um he did he did his
00:46:49.900 patriotic yeah he did he voted crockett he did his patriotic duty oh he he said he's trying to help
00:46:56.860 us for the content hilarious but actually like with tallarico he's he's running this campaign against
00:47:01.820 elites and it turns out he has every elite position on cultural issues ever he says that trans women
00:47:08.780 have abortion rights he says that uh god is non-binary he is fully in favor of the like
00:47:16.060 you were just playing the clip on uh boys playing in girls sports uh he's just down the line these
00:47:22.700 are seen by voters as elite culture war issues they're seen as top versus bottom they're seen as
00:47:29.260 elites forcing these silly ideas like the word latinx down your throat uh and so now his economic
00:47:36.300 message is going to have to grapple with his insane cultural message like that the border should be
00:47:41.100 treated as our front porch with a welcome mat on it it's our front porch right leave leave the door
00:47:46.300 open and then there's this one about jesus sought 12 for me prophetic voices like jesus have helped me
00:47:53.900 reckon with my own whiteness my own masculinity my own certainty my own ego it's a never-ending process
00:48:02.060 and it's a painful process uh it's painful to reckon with his whiteness emily which jesus helped him i
00:48:10.860 guess come to term with in terms of jesus helped him with his masculinity well like the absence of it
00:48:16.940 how i want to hear more he's also using the gospels to justify abortion if he was referred to in a
00:48:23.420 headline as a theologian recently because he is actually in seminary obviously very progressive seminary
00:48:28.060 and to most christians this is going to hit them as insane and inauthentic so if they thought that
00:48:33.980 tallarico being able to i mean he went on joe rogan and rogan said you should run for president
00:48:38.540 because he was really taken by the message uh and there are some joe joe there are some normal people
00:48:45.740 who hear a dem speaking in the language of christianity and they're like oh i can see how this is
00:48:51.020 makes you different than abeta or this makes you different from a totally secular person but i actually
00:48:55.580 think what's not going to happen is it makes him look inauthentic because it makes him look like
00:49:00.460 he's not actually speaking for most evangelicals or most protestants in texas it's going to make
00:49:06.300 him look weird uh and it is weird it's weird stuff he tweeted out after the ahmaud arbery case
00:49:14.140 that he was the latest american killed by the virus of racism the virus kills our black neighbors if
00:49:19.180 they're jogging playing music sitting in a church selling cds or carrying a bag of skittles
00:49:23.260 white skin gives me and every white american immunity from the virus but we spread it wherever
00:49:28.620 we go through our words our actions and our systems we don't have to be showing symptoms
00:49:34.780 like a white hood or a confederate flag to be contagious oh my god uh okay then he finishes it
00:49:42.700 up with the only cure is diagnosing the virus within ourselves and taking dramatic action to contain the
00:49:48.540 spread the first small step is proclaiming loudly and unequivocally that hashtag black lives matter
00:49:54.620 i think that's when tim miller tweeted out could we please find somebody who wasn't tweeting non-stop

00:52:40.940 oh my god he looks i mean he looks special very special he happens to be the grandson of jfk
00:52:46.540 uh his name is jack schlossberg and he is the son of caroline kennedy she of course is the daughter
00:52:54.300 of john f kennedy uh our one-time president who was assassinated and boy oh boy those jeans water
00:53:00.620 down quickly quickly uh welcome back to the megan kelly show emily jashinsky is with me she's the host
00:53:06.380 of after party with emily jashinsky go and subscribe now on youtube or wherever you get your podcasts
00:53:12.220 after party emily dot com it always sounds so promising yeah after party emily promising is one
00:53:19.660 way so this guy well it is problem and you do deliver just not not that way um not like jack
00:53:26.380 this guy i like i want to laugh but i'm actually deeply disturbed by him speaking of the mentally ill
00:53:34.220 he's way worse off than britney i mean he's like i think this guy is actually mentally ill i mean this
00:53:41.180 is my strong opinion is that he needs psychiatric intervention asap and psychi psychiatric problems
00:53:47.340 do run in the kennedy family um he's very clear from his social media not well and his cousin kick
00:53:56.220 kennedy who is jfk sorry rfk jr's daughter has said i really hope he gets the help he needs like she can
00:54:03.820 see he's sick his own mother caroline kennedy did not want him running which is why we're talking about
00:54:08.780 him he is running for office we talked about on am update the other day um he's running for jerry
00:54:14.780 nadler's soon to be vacated seat who's 78 and giving up the the seat and he actually thinks he deserves
00:54:22.300 it he's done nothing he had a one month stint at vogue that's it that will conclude he had one month
00:54:33.340 stint someplace else doing something equally dumb and that is all of his professional experience not
00:54:38.220 withstanding the fact that he went to harvard and yale that's classic kennedy liberal elite
00:54:44.380 bullshit where their name gets them into all these amazing institutions and then they do
00:54:48.860 nothing with it so all he's been doing on social media is trolling people including rfk
00:54:55.500 jay whose voice which is a disability that rfk j suffers from with his vocal cords he's decided it's
00:55:03.420 totally fair game to mock listen hey everybody i i'm trying to figure out the right president to get
00:55:12.460 donald trump for the inauguration so i found a really rare animal and killed it and i'm gonna give
00:55:20.220 it to him so now notwithstanding that now i'm just gonna show one more um repeatedly doing a nazi salute
00:55:27.980 this is after the whole elon alleged nazi salute nonsense but he just thought it would be a laugh
00:55:33.260 riot to do them over and over and over again on his social media to film himself doing nazi salutes
00:55:38.220 and here's that yo yo check this out yo check this out there's one yo check this out another
00:55:47.020 keeps going
00:55:54.380 okay he makes some sort of like like a disabled person's like throat and facial and mouth gesture
00:56:02.140 which appears again to be a reference to elon and elon too is he's got asperger's he's on the spectrum
00:56:09.100 and jack schlossberg seems to think it's hilarious to make fun of people's disabilities
00:56:13.420 and also to smear them as nazis when they're not so now he's running for this seat and and the
00:56:20.380 whitewashing of all of that shit which he's since deleted but we still have copies of a lot of it
00:56:25.660 has begun maureen dowd humiliated herself with a whitewash column in the new york times i'm
00:56:32.860 embarrassed for her she of the poison pen had none to spare when it came to a kennedy air and she
00:56:39.100 completely glossed over the social media history like it was a nothing like it was like an errant
00:56:43.820 tweet here or there instead of vicious deranged repeated posts for years and then he meanders over
00:56:52.620 to cnn and here's how that went sot 30 i heard you say that you're an outsider in this race yeah to
00:57:01.740 people who are on the outside they hear you say you're an outsider like come on i know i know it's
00:57:07.820 it's ironic coming out of my mouth with kennedy legacy and what i represent might be hard to
00:57:12.620 believe but it's absolutely true because there's a local insider political machine here that is
00:57:20.380 running the playbook from the 90s i'm just watching what the other side is doing thinking we need our
00:57:24.460 own version of this and so it's it's by design i'm sorry emily but this is deeply disturbing this is
00:57:33.740 like media enablers trying to foster this unwell person into a u.s house seat ignoring the rantings
00:57:43.180 of a madman he's been in other interviews now claiming oh i was just trying to generate attention
00:57:48.540 to me you know because it's hard to get attention okay you were trying to generate attention when you
00:57:53.180 you tweeted out that you have a maha energy ball that you'd like to suggest to people one part fresh
00:57:59.820 coconut meat two ounces of jew blood ashkenazi not sephardic four cups forgive me of male jizz
00:58:07.580 baked at 300 degrees until totally dry like your wife this was addressed again to his cousin rfkj
00:58:14.860 allegedly in response to rfkj suggesting some some some jews got spared the covid um virus depending on
00:58:23.340 whether they were ashkenazi or whatever but this is who this guy is and he's got a shot he's got a
00:58:29.580 shot because all the others running in this race are a bunch of no names so your thoughts on how this
00:58:34.420 is going to go i mean he definitely has a shot his financial disclosures just popped he's got a shot
00:58:38.940 he's got money he's got support although as a supporter um megan of of independent media and
00:58:43.980 political independence i was glad to see an outsider like him get a shot on cnn that was pretty remarkable
00:58:48.820 very very really kind of dana bash to give this uh upstart uh nobody a shot at a cnn segment but
00:58:56.280 it's it's ridiculous she looked like a school girl it's insane to whitewash his social media history
00:59:00.960 because he was making it central to his persona so to see him all cleaned up it clearly tells you that
00:59:06.140 they are not interested in running this guy on the social media that he probably wanted to run on i
00:59:11.520 don't know if people have seen his van dispatches they are insane they're on his youtube channel at least
00:59:17.880 they used to be on his youtube channel he would just like sit in a van and talk into a webcam
00:59:21.920 truly bizarre stuff he's i agree he's obviously not well uh but the media trying to whitewash that i
00:59:29.520 think is fascinating fascinating he's honestly just a shit lip like it's excuse my language but that's
00:59:35.560 what he is he's not he doesn't have interesting politics he has the politics of a mentally ill millennial
00:59:40.540 uh and listen that's that's very common he said he's like new york that's new york dc he's he's a
00:59:47.860 dime a dozen yeah no kidding but i mean like with absolute absolutely no work history like we're
00:59:53.060 gonna we're just because his name is schlossberg and he's car i mean caroline doesn't seem all that
00:59:57.680 together either to be perfectly honest but it's like they're trying to make him into jfk jr which
01:00:03.180 he is no jfk jr jfk jr was hot sorry schlossberg you're not not even close and no matter how many
01:00:13.980 times you want to take off your shirt and try to parade around like you are uh you're much better
01:00:18.080 looking cousin you're not and he can't be reinvented and jfk jr while he struggled to pass
01:00:23.000 the bar wasn't an abject moron like this guy is uh so i just think like i realize that congress is
01:00:29.360 not to be respected i don't have any respect for virtually any of them there are a couple who i like
01:00:33.460 but i can't think of anyone off the top of my head but i know jerry nadler of course that is a
01:00:37.360 of respected oh yeah i liked mtg i came to like her too late in the process you know like she and
01:00:43.440 i got to know each other just before she pieced out of there it's probably no accident um anyway
01:00:49.180 we still have to have some standards there has to be like we we have to screen the mentally ill
01:00:54.180 and this guy clearly is so in any event we'll see how that goes new york what are you doing this is my
01:00:59.300 home state i live in connecticut now but like i grew up in new york and this is too far for us people
01:01:04.000 there are plenty of other democrats and nadler's got some protege he's recommending whose name i
01:01:09.120 don't even know that's how like everybody's a no name but you got to go with that guy over this
01:01:13.220 lunatic that's my own take on it i won't be voting in any democratic primaries all right i want to keep
01:01:18.000 going um let's talk about iran because there's been a lot of news uh disturbingly there's a report now
01:01:25.540 it's come out from a couple of different places politico is the origin of it saying that uh oh wait now here
01:01:33.240 is yeah politico u.s central command that's the group overseeing our military uh operation overseeing
01:01:40.100 the middle east war is now saying internally that this war through against iran is likely to last
01:01:45.240 through september according to info obtained by politico it's costing us a billion dollars a day
01:01:52.260 so this this would easily be over a hundred billion if that's true um i've seen this a couple different
01:01:59.180 places reporting what politico reported i haven't actually seen the original political report
01:02:04.360 but september i like first the president said you know i could do it in four or five days
01:02:11.820 but i might need four weeks then he said maybe four to five weeks and then we had i think it was pete
01:02:18.200 suggest maybe eight weeks definitely administration official said could be looking at eight weeks now
01:02:24.000 and the president saying i'm not i don't have the yips about doing boots on the ground
01:02:27.900 um and now we have leaked potentially to politico through september we're going to be over there which
01:02:34.980 is i mean by last i checked two months before november when we have the midterms um and let me just
01:02:41.420 play you something from harry enton on the midterms i mean i think most people are kind of assuming we're
01:02:45.960 going to be losing the house over on team red but the senate was thought to be not really in
01:02:51.760 competition because just the way the map lays out this year but take a listen to this and sought 23
01:02:56.760 okay talk to me about that if it helps the democratic chances what does that do to the overall odds in the
01:03:02.020 u.s yeah overall odds of the u.s senate this is just a segment which is just great news for democrats and
01:03:08.480 what are we talking about here i mean this is i think the biggest change that we have seen in the
01:03:15.000 national picture which was all along we thought that the democrats would win back the house of
01:03:19.520 representatives that was the most likely possibility but at this point look at this look at the change
01:03:24.200 in odds from a year ago the chance of winning the senate republicans had an 81 percent chance a year
01:03:28.940 ago look at this it is falling through the floor falling through the floor now it's just a 56 percent
01:03:34.160 chance democrats chances way up to a 44 percent chance there's a real fight on their hands republicans
01:03:39.560 have not just for the house which are likely to lose but for the senate as well oh my god your thoughts
01:03:46.740 on where we are right now i mean nothing but respect for harry enton's perpetual sham wow energy
01:03:51.620 it's it's giving sham wow guy he always is excellent stuff harry but it listen like independents are not
01:03:58.920 on board first of all before this war started the economy was a really tough sell for the administration
01:04:04.820 among independents uh now the war it has been clearly when we look at polling a very tough sell
01:04:10.420 among independents uh so now they have double i mean that's why trump was on his affordability
01:04:15.880 uh we saw that it's still happening but that's why as the new year came about it was we're going
01:04:21.820 to get the president focused like a laser on the economy on cost of living and now on top of that
01:04:27.680 he has to defend this war there's been you know clearly pretty mixed messaging they've struggled
01:04:32.840 with messaging this week you have six dead americans if you have a war that goes through september
01:04:36.880 that number inevitably ticks up it's going to touch communities around the country it's already
01:04:41.420 touched iowa it's already touched minnesota it's touched people all over the country who have lost
01:04:47.040 uh their men young men and women um and that's in the local news that's hitting people independents
01:04:53.780 are seeing it so it's going to be i mean i don't even want to talk about this in a political sense
01:04:58.400 because it's a moral and and substantive policy question but uh the politics of it trump has seen
01:05:04.380 harry enton's pointed this out too his support among republicans is like record levels it's very high
01:05:10.240 it's actually still lower than it was before uh which means in a midterm cycle voter enthusiasm
01:05:17.100 the thing you need to get people off their couches to vote in the first place that's a problem for him
01:05:22.500 so those are two places that you can't afford to be uh losing anything among independents and among
01:05:28.740 uh you know hardcore people who who need to be convinced to get off their couch and support
01:05:33.840 republicans and be excited about a susan collins be excited about uh you know republican in
01:05:39.600 nebraska uh those are going to be tough so i think the senate actually is in play uh now that we're at
01:05:45.360 war i mean that's a nightmare that's that's a true nightmare if the democrats control the senate i mean
01:05:50.960 depending on how many seats they they could potentially get now you could have impeachments
01:05:55.600 in the house that would lead to actual convictions over there uh on the senate side i like i doubt it but
01:06:02.020 if they have control they can thwart every single piece of the president's agenda not to mention then
01:06:08.060 they're better set up for because they're not supposed to win this time the senate that that the
01:06:11.540 map is much better for them in 28 and so they'll be better set up to get way more seats in that election
01:06:19.100 and possibly win the presidency and and then we have full democratic control with potentially a
01:06:25.920 filibuster proof majority i mean like that could happen um so like all that's catastrophic thinking we're
01:06:31.780 not there yet but like this should not last till september this can end this week you know there's
01:06:37.840 a lot of pressure on president trump by the way that we did confirm that was in politico uh so it's not
01:06:42.600 just random accounts retweeting here it is u.s central command meanwhile is asking the pentagon to send more
01:06:47.120 military intelligence officers to its hq in tampa florida to support operations against iran for at
01:06:52.140 least 100 days but likely through september according to a notification obtained by politico it's the first
01:06:57.980 known call for additional intelligence personnel for the iran war by the admin and assigned the
01:07:02.280 pentagon is already allocating funding for operations that may stretch long beyond what
01:07:06.520 president donald trump initially said would be a four-week timeline for the conflict okay so uh there
01:07:13.000 we go september we can't have this thing go on i don't even think it should last another four weeks
01:07:18.560 never mind several months until the the month before the midterms and the problem is emily the longer it
01:07:25.120 goes on the more sins the iran the iranians have committed against us and our allies that then need
01:07:32.060 to be answered for the more it spreads you know now you already have a bunch of these arab countries
01:07:37.080 in the gulf saying like we may get involved in this shit because we're taking incoming and like this is
01:07:41.480 bullshit we're not going to just sit here and be hit by the iranians so like the war is potentially
01:07:46.140 spreading and by september could spread even more like this thing needs to wrap up president trump can
01:07:52.920 declare victory i got rid of the ayatollah a bunch of the bad guys i damaged their missile facilities
01:07:58.840 i did more damage to what was left of the nuclear program i gave you a running shot i talked to the
01:08:04.200 kurds in iraq who have some camaraderie with the kurds in iran they're going to come across what this
01:08:09.160 is like iraq all over again by the way this is exactly the shit we did back then but okay but uh now
01:08:13.380 i'm out now it's like i gave you a running start but i don't have to run the race for you well this is
01:08:18.080 what's frightening me right now is that they're learning the colin powell you break it you buy it
01:08:22.620 maxim in real time because people forget in the lead up to the iraq war george w bush was campaigning
01:08:28.420 literally he was campaigning against nation building before 9-11 happened you've played clips on the
01:08:33.420 show in the last few days it's been so helpful but uh just hearing the debate has been so helpful but
01:08:37.980 having uh dick cheney talk about the timetable for iraq uh before the it's insane and you always i mean
01:08:45.860 you can you can say as pete hegseth has said to his credit that he's a reformed neocon trump has
01:08:50.900 campaigned against nation building and forever wars and dumb wars and then when you're in the
01:08:54.920 situation you end up realizing you break it you buy it if you leave uh you then become responsible for
01:09:01.700 what steps into the power vacuum if it's an isis-like thing or whatever i mean you're constantly
01:09:06.420 hearing this is not iraq this is not afghanistan from defenders of the war from people in the
01:09:10.540 administration but the fear is that it's going to turn into it because inevitably when you topple
01:09:17.540 the head of a regime that still has some support in the country it's certainly not 100 of the iranian
01:09:22.200 people many of the iranian people are so glad the ayatollah is gone but there's still some support the
01:09:26.740 irgc still exists there's still plenty of weapons in the country uh that means that you have a huge
01:09:33.080 problem on your hands that you now own because you're the one who took him out and that's what i think
01:09:37.500 is uh right now raising red flags for a lot of people when they say when they're hearing timetables
01:09:42.420 shifting already no no we sunk the navy we control the airspace that's great we did a lot of course our
01:09:49.900 boys and gals in uniform got in there and did a stellar job and that's great let's declare the w and get
01:09:56.560 out and let president trump spend the next eight months or however many it is till november focused like
01:10:03.220 a laser as they promised on the economy just you know town to town because gas prices oil prices are
01:10:08.960 going up gas prices are going up like all of that is going to cost republicans at at the polls like
01:10:14.220 people the one thing they wanted was the economy to ease up to for their you know their pocketbook to
01:10:19.400 be a little bit easier this this was this is not going to help that um and while republicans support
01:10:25.360 the war like you point out not all of them um the independents are over i haven't seen one poll
01:10:31.340 that has anything better than independence 72 percent against this that all the democrat party
01:10:38.620 is against it and over 70 of independents in every poll i've seen oppose the war like you can't win
01:10:45.680 elections with those numbers whether you think it's righteous or not you cannot win elections with those
01:10:50.840 numbers you do need independence unless you have a republican party that is incredibly enthusiastic and
01:10:58.000 every last man is going to run from his couch to go make sure they pull the lever and as you point out
01:11:03.020 that's not how the gop is feeling right now so this has got to wrap up and by the way for israel
01:11:09.440 supporters it's got to wrap up for israel too all the negative behavior and attitudes towards israel
01:11:14.420 grew throughout the whole gaza conflict then trump settled that and things were kind of settling down
01:11:19.040 israel was off the front pages that was very good that was that's better for israel and now they're
01:11:23.180 right back in the center of it you know again which only leads to more negative feelings because the
01:11:28.340 administration has been telling us they're the reason we got into this you know it's like they
01:11:32.420 have to understand at least from a pr perspective how bad this is emily yeah i mean and the problem is
01:11:38.400 blaming voters for their cooling sentiments towards israel uh and blaming tiktok and blaming everyone
01:11:46.920 uh without grappling and saying okay well maybe voters maybe we should trust that they're not all
01:11:52.720 bigoted and they're not all anti-semitic and they're not all dumb um and and make better
01:11:57.740 arguments and that's really been i think a huge part of the problem here it's a problem with the
01:12:02.120 administration selling this war you've seen them freak out about inconsistent messaging i think
01:12:07.240 their inconsistent messaging speaks to a muddled strategy to begin with but the problem selling
01:12:12.480 this from now until november is democrats now have clip shows they can play constantly of different
01:12:18.180 things being said well we are at war losing americans in the middle east again because the
01:12:23.500 messaging was a disaster uh and that's i mean i don't see actually any sign of them having better
01:12:28.980 messaging about this going forward they're still not telling us clearly whether or not it's a war
01:12:32.620 mark wayne mullen just yesterday referred to it as a war reporter said you referred to it as a war
01:12:37.060 and he said oh that's a misspoke it's such a mess right now he's going to be running dhs soon so
01:12:44.240 we don't have to worry about him speaking as a senator all right let's keep going because i want
01:12:49.860 to get through uh what happened on the minnesota fraud hearing with you before you have to go as
01:12:54.660 the pastor from the don lemon church is coming on i hate to refer to it that way from city's church
01:12:58.520 in many in saint paul you know what i'm saying um okay uh there was a fraud hearing about what's
01:13:06.000 happening with yes the somalis in minnesota yesterday and um tim walsh showed up as he should
01:13:12.980 because this is his state he's done virtually nothing to stop this nonsense and my favorite
01:13:18.300 brandon gill pressed him because they were they were upset about they they feel that the
01:13:24.260 administration in minneapolis has minnesota has has cracked down on whistleblowers who tried to come
01:13:29.480 forward over and over about what they saw they saw the fraud coming and they tried to jump up and
01:13:34.400 down and say yo yo democrats and republicans these somalis are committing a bunch of fraud on us we should
01:13:39.760 stop giving them the money for their fake autism and child care centers and it's all over the news
01:13:45.280 at the time with the people saying that's racist you can't apparently you're not allowed to say that
01:13:51.020 anybody from somalia has committed a crime or you're racist but what if they have but you can't because
01:13:56.540 it's racist but what if they did so here's brandon gill cross-examining him on that sat 27 do you think
01:14:02.100 whistleblowers should be retaliated against absolutely not they have strong protections in minnesota
01:14:06.140 that's not what we're hearing from whistleblowers faye bernstein who again has stated that she is a
01:14:10.480 democrat she's only ever voted democrat says that doesn't matter whether she's a smear campaign
01:14:16.220 for trying to make leadership aware of illegal contracting practices why do you think that
01:14:21.360 happened i can't speak to that congressman because we don't do it according to another report
01:14:26.580 quote there's just a continuous effort to stifle you to shut you up and it's impossible to overcome
01:14:32.360 your administration's response to whistleblowers has also been described as quote nearly unbearable
01:14:38.060 retaliation we've heard claims that quote they've been denied vacations promotions and that it's hurt
01:14:44.340 people's careers to speak out against fraud do you think that that had something to do with with the
01:14:48.860 prevalence of fraud in your administration i i can't speak to it but are you going to take responsibility
01:14:53.700 for this i certainly i supervise 40 000 employees state agencies you supervise a lot of a lot of employees
01:14:59.640 and and as you have said the buck stops with you and your administration has treated whistleblowers
01:15:05.140 like absolute dirt and that's a big reason why we've seen so much of our hard-earned tax dollars
01:15:10.960 defrauded brandon gill for the win he's my fave and he's leaning into the clark kent i was just
01:15:16.140 thinking that the one curl right i i approve i'm into it his questioning of tim walls is also just like
01:15:23.000 this is logic this was happening out in the open for how many years the tune of
01:15:27.380 like so many millions of dollars and there's you know the minnesota reformer which is one of these
01:15:33.380 like lefty uh websites that purports to cover local news there's a guy named casey magan who's
01:15:38.420 been writing about this he's somali his job was like looking into fraud formally in the minnesota
01:15:43.220 government and he's been writing about this for a while saying that it was specifically uh in some
01:15:48.540 part due to racism being weaponized uh to prevent people from looking into this is on the record going
01:15:54.580 back multiple years uh from people on the left so for tim walls to sit there and say i can't speak
01:15:59.660 to that because we don't do that is it's it's a good line politically it's like putting up his shield
01:16:05.580 with that line just not refusing to engage basically just saying i don't know we don't do it from clark
01:16:10.580 kent he's got he's intimidated he's like oh this guy actually yeah um yeah it's a disaster for tim
01:16:17.800 and it should be a lesson for democrats to not let these weaponized charges of racism block them from
01:16:24.580 good governance but i don't think anyone believes that it actually is and it's so ridiculous 84 of
01:16:30.580 the 94 who have been indicted so far are somali i mean give me a break like that's who's committing
01:16:34.960 the crimes sorry that the community has decided to take our our benevolence and our generosity here
01:16:41.900 in america and completely exploit it to the tune of criminal fraud but they should be made to pay
01:16:47.240 the ones who have done that and if it's 90 somali so be it doesn't make us racists for for charging
01:16:53.720 them for crimes that they've allegedly committed um here was an awkward moment when representative pat
01:16:58.900 fallon republican from texas decided to talk about how he got chosen as kamala's vp running mate watch this
01:17:06.100 it's been widely reported that in 2008 when barack obama was choosing his vice presidential
01:17:13.080 candidate he had three criteria he wanted to make sure he picked somebody that wasn't as smart as him
01:17:18.820 and had less talent and charisma and couldn't possibly outshine him so he picked joe biden
01:17:24.500 and then joe biden in 2020 used the exact same criteria he wanted to make sure he picked somebody
01:17:30.340 wasn't as smart as him had less talent and charisma and wouldn't outshine him and he picked
01:17:34.240 kamala her and then in 2024 governor i think it's very evident why kamala harris picked you
01:17:40.500 the talent pool mr chairman mr chairman the talent pool in just shallow brother we have hit the shore
01:17:48.860 and i yield back oh i gotta give it to tim walls for laughing at that that was well done that's what
01:17:57.500 he should do like it's the only thing you can do this is so cringy right it's so terrible i can't
01:18:03.880 imagine i mean yes it is it is and that's why he had to step out of his campaign i mean when it all
01:18:09.980 came to light this all could have come to light while he was running for vice president but it's
01:18:14.820 a it's actually disadvantaged sometimes to democrats that the media is so sympathetic to them because it
01:18:18.800 didn't come out then uh and sometimes that ends up coming back to bite you in the butt because people
01:18:24.180 aren't given due scrutiny until it's too late and that's what happened with tim walls it's so true
01:18:30.400 that's the republicans are in a great position because jd vance like everybody would be outshined
01:18:34.800 by trump there isn't a soul on earth that wouldn't be outshined by trump just he's has such a big
01:18:38.960 fun personality but jd vance is so solid in his own right that they're not suffering from that same
01:18:44.340 dynamic like when he steps out on his own or it could be rubio either one when they step out on
01:18:49.220 their own out of the shadow of dad they're going to thrive because they actually are incredibly
01:18:54.940 charismatic funny warm charming smart competent all the things it's not exactly how it went on
01:19:01.080 team blue okay ej we will see you in uh half an hour on the mk after show and then at after party

01:22:19.980 i want to let you know uh this just broke from the wall street journal
01:22:27.600 president trump is preparing to fire homeland security secretary christy noem
01:22:32.620 uh the article also suggests he could still change his mind but following up on our last segment just
01:22:38.280 bringing you that news per the wall street journal he is preparing to fire her we'll see whether or
01:22:44.620 not it actually happens and we will bring you the latest right here in the meantime big news out of
01:22:49.840 minnesota last week remember that big anti-ice protest at city's church in saint paul we're using
01:22:57.600 that term protest very generously the one don lemon thought it was a good idea to live stream
01:23:02.620 for the world to see well president trump's doj last week announcing 30 more individuals have
01:23:09.240 been charged with violating the face act and the clan act that means a total of 39 people
01:23:16.080 have now been charged over that january 18th protest riot harassment event a list that includes don
01:23:24.180 lamon himself here's a reminder of just how aggressive the agitators were that day and how
01:23:28.800 terrifying it must have been to the 300 or so parishioners including young children who were
01:23:34.860 there just to worship that day
01:23:36.760 where are you where are you where are you where are your people why are you not at whipple every day
01:23:59.020 fighting for the humanity standing for our people where are you you drink your coffee you got your
01:24:05.440 jewelry you have your nice clothes but what do you do what what do you do to stand for your somali and
01:24:10.660 latino communities i'm not going to comment
01:24:12.480 that's just so shameful as you can see in this video city's church's lead pastor jonathan parnell
01:24:36.400 made it clear to lemon and his fellow protesters that they needed to get out unless they wanted to
01:24:44.600 worship with him here our church had gathered for worship which we do every sunday and we were
01:24:51.540 interrupted by this group of protesters we asked them to leave and and they um obviously have not
01:24:59.480 left so what do you think of this i mean this is unacceptable it's shameful it's shameful to to
01:25:06.100 interrupt a public gathering of christians in worship so but but there were folks will say i have to take
01:25:13.920 care of my flock but listen we live in there's a constitution in the first amendment to freedom of
01:25:18.680 speech and freedom to assemble and protest we're here to worship we're here to worship jesus because
01:25:23.740 that's the hope of these cities that's the hope of the world is jesus christ i want to be very
01:25:27.780 respectful please don't push me though we're we're here we're here to worship jesus that's why we're
01:25:32.620 here okay that's why we're here that's what we're about do you think jesus would be understanding and
01:25:37.640 we're about love these folks we're about spreading the love of jesus but did you try to talk to them
01:25:42.400 as a no one is willing to talk okay i have to take care of my church my family so i asked if you
01:25:47.760 actually would also leave this building you don't want us to unless you're here to worship i'm always
01:25:53.160 worship i'm a christian oh my gosh it's so infuriating don wouldn't leave the church for
01:25:59.280 another seven minutes including taking the time to tell viewers of the live stream to quote like
01:26:03.360 and subscribe to his youtube channel unbelievable joining me now with more about what happened is
01:26:09.680 pastor jonathan parnell himself this is his first interview since don lemon was charged in the case
01:26:14.440 in january pastor parnell is joined by renee carlson an attorney and general counsel at true north legal
01:26:20.060 the non-profit law firm representing cities church welcome so much to you both to the show
01:26:26.400 it's a pleasure to have you pastor i so admire you and the way you handled yourself in that awful
01:26:33.440 unprecedented moment you had grace you had the smarts not to overly engage even legally you knew what
01:26:43.260 to say leave please leave and really set him up in a way i'm sure it wasn't intentional but for
01:26:49.340 these criminal charges because there it is on camera you telling him to get out and he refused
01:26:53.900 but you i'm sure had a very different experience of the moment than thinking through all those things
01:26:59.480 can you walk us through how it was for you you're up there you're preaching and the next thing you know
01:27:06.100 what yeah thank you megan you know i want to the first thing i want to say before i get into that is
01:27:12.040 i just want to state a fact and this fact is the most important fact in the universe uh it's the
01:27:18.900 thing that i always most need to remember all the time uh is the simple fact that jesus christ is a
01:27:26.160 real person uh he is as real in this moment as we are here having this conversation uh he's been
01:27:32.760 raised from the dead he is seated on his heavenly throne and and one day he's coming back like that's
01:27:38.600 that's my worldview i'd say my worldview is simply that jesus is real and that changes everything
01:27:44.140 it's true whether we believe it or not but i believe it um our church believes it and so uh on
01:27:50.020 sunday january 18 uh when we were gathering for worship we were gathering to worship the real person
01:27:56.460 jesus christ this is not we're not playing games we're not walking through a dry liturgical order but
01:28:02.160 we were gathering to have a dialogue with jesus where we hear him speak and then we respond to him
01:28:08.260 in praise and adoration and thanksgiving and worship and so on that sunday at the highest point of our
01:28:15.460 liturgy um just as i was about to read from the gospel of john chapter 13 we've been preaching through
01:28:21.000 the gospel of john and we're in the section that's called the farewell discourse which is
01:28:25.420 the longest thursday night in the history of the world when jesus is is teaching his disciples in his
01:28:31.180 final moments with them and in chapter 13 jesus teaches us to love one another as he has loved us
01:28:37.720 and so just as i was about to read these verses a woman begins approaching me on the far right side
01:28:44.440 of our church building she's followed by a few other folks and then she calls out interrupts me
01:28:49.780 and says something to the effect of bringing judgment and then as soon as she says something almost
01:28:56.180 like a flash mob people got up in our sanctuary converged in the center of our sanctuary and
01:29:02.140 we're chanting we're shouting had their fists raised and immediately people in the back of our
01:29:09.060 building began to flee folks were leaving rapidly and then right away they begin to chant hands up don't
01:29:16.480 shoot and and then other folks had taken cover some other folks were trying to leave some were blocked
01:29:22.500 from leaving because they were clogging up that main pathway but in that moment as they're chanting
01:29:28.020 hands up don't shoot i was just i was looking across um our sanctuary kind of remaining in my post as it
01:29:33.540 were behind the pulpit and and that's when there were children in our church who were putting their
01:29:37.760 hands up in fear and that's the moment when um i turned to the woman who had initiated uh the the
01:29:44.160 protest or the the chanting and i i told her what i would say now it was shameful shame on her it was a
01:29:50.520 rebuke uh we were there to worship jesus it is the house of god it's a sanctuary and she invaded that
01:29:56.740 space and this mob invaded that space with anger and rage uh and then from there it began to just get
01:30:04.160 louder more chanting people were blowing whistles it was an absolutely disorienting moment uh folks were
01:30:11.040 still trying to leave as best as they could some remain others again had taken cover we had to lock down
01:30:16.400 our child care it was a extremely chaotic moment and then uh in the midst of all that i did not
01:30:22.860 realize that the children put their hands up they were they were scared and they thought they were
01:30:27.160 being ordered to do that i and i said this on the show that the children having no idea about ferguson
01:30:32.880 missouri or michael brown would not understand the hands up don't shoot thing they they would be
01:30:38.540 hearing hands up and they would be hearing the word shoot and that indeed you're testifying here
01:30:43.920 was part of the trauma that they went through it was horrifying also in our context just a year ago
01:30:48.520 the tragic horrible shooting at a school in the twin cities and so that's fresh on the minds of many
01:30:53.960 people and there were definitely folks who believed it was an active shooter situation fleeing they thought
01:30:59.000 for their lives um and and that was the moment when in the midst of all that chaos absolute mayhem
01:31:05.060 that an individual kind of spawned in and stuck a microphone in my face and asked me what i thought
01:31:11.560 about what was going on and uh and then instantly as as he began to talk to me others came forward
01:31:17.760 with microphones and cameras and it kind of surrounded me and uh he was asking me again what
01:31:23.680 was going on what not what did i think about it and i told him it was shameful it's unacceptable this
01:31:28.040 this should not happen ever um and then in the midst of that conversation you've seen the video
01:31:32.880 uh he makes a comment about uh me pushing him uh and and that was the turning point for me that's when
01:31:39.600 i realized this this this guy is here with them he's trying to incite me um and i was trying to as
01:31:46.620 best as i can disengage from that encounter um as quickly as i could trying to be a gentleman as well
01:31:53.240 trying to be kind but it was a very disorienting moment and uh one of those things that i've thought
01:31:59.300 about so many times afterwards and it just it should never happen again what what was it you know
01:32:05.740 now he says he was just a journalist doing his job covering this as a journalist you and others
01:32:10.880 inside the church perceived him as a member of the protesters as as in tandem with them in in concert
01:32:17.100 with them why the turning point for me was when he made the comment to me about pushing him and the
01:32:24.400 fact that when he came close to me and was in my space crowding me others who were there um protesting
01:32:32.600 the agitators they joined him and also encircled me and so in my in my mind in that moment i i
01:32:38.900 definitely understood him to be part of what they were doing he went a different way with it um here
01:32:45.620 he is this is recently sat down with jim acosta and um said the following on february 18th sot 62
01:32:53.400 i don't know it's weird because they kept saying it even when i told them that i'm not and i think they
01:32:57.960 were looking at me and because the bulk of the protesters were black maybe they thought because i'm black
01:33:02.200 and i kept saying i'm not a protester i'm here covering the protest i'm not with them and they
01:33:09.580 were you know they just for some reason could not understand and i just had to keep telling them that
01:33:16.840 i'm not part of the group i'm just here photographing i would say chronicling or whatever it is and
01:33:21.860 that's that's it jim so why they couldn't figure that out i don't know what's your reaction to that
01:33:28.100 pastor yeah that's the first time i've actually heard that um yeah the truth will come out that's
01:33:32.860 what we want we want the truth and so uh my my counselor renee carlson is here she can comment
01:33:37.720 on details when it comes to the first amendment but yeah that's yeah that's hard to watch well
01:33:43.860 megan i mean it was not his skin color oh go ahead no i mean you're it was not his skin color that
01:33:50.300 led you to believe he was a member of the protesters that's ridiculous there's as you know megan i mean
01:33:56.120 there is never an excuse to invade a church and this whole hiding under journalism um when they've
01:34:02.880 really violated the law they there is no first amendment right to invade a church there's no
01:34:08.880 constitutional right for that there is a right to worship freely and that's exactly what was
01:34:13.460 happening at city's church um there is no press pass to invade a church and the constitution is
01:34:19.920 really clear and you know this megan about the limitations on the first amendment and freedom
01:34:25.100 of speech that's the time place and manner in which this speech takes place here that line was
01:34:31.480 crossed i mean you've talked about this and we've appreciated your coverage you said things like look
01:34:36.000 you can't just go into the courthouse bust in stage of protest and say i'm covered by the first
01:34:41.160 amendment nobody could walk into your house bust in stage of protest and say i'm covered by the
01:34:46.860 first amendment likewise here you cannot invade a church and stage a like you said it's it's protest in
01:34:53.900 air quotes here this was an ambush on the church there was obstruction there was threats this behavior
01:35:00.140 is absolutely unlawful it's completely a violation of the face act which protects the right to worship
01:35:06.460 in the space of worship and i just do want to highlight what pastor parnell said he said there was that
01:35:12.020 moment when they ambushed him they gathered around him he did not feel a freedom to move he was obstructed
01:35:18.160 and even probably even worse these parents couldn't get to their children they blocked exits and that is
01:35:24.640 terrifying what a horrific moment for this church it's absolutely not protected by the first amendment
01:35:30.260 this is activism this is not journalism we saw children crying we saw children fleeing trying to
01:35:37.420 flee in that van where they tried they quickly tried to slam the door to get away as the protesters are
01:35:42.040 still harassing them even outside the church we saw don lemon finally outside the church many minutes
01:35:47.980 after he'd been told to leave saying the trauma is all part of it that's part of it that's the the
01:35:52.860 glory of protest is the trauma you cause others you tell me renee when this goes to trial um do you think
01:36:00.840 that there will be adequate testimony to convince a jury that there was obstruction um and that there
01:36:07.220 actually was trauma as don lemon observed i think there will and here's something else to think about megan
01:36:12.760 is that these charges were brought after an indictment that requires um a number of jurors at least 12
01:36:19.120 jurors to say that there is probable cause to um bring these charges forward and that's what happened
01:36:25.220 here we have a cross-section of people in minnesota who saw the evidence who saw all of these things that
01:36:30.740 you're talking about and they put forward these charges they said there is a probable cause to believe
01:36:36.560 that don lemon committed these crimes um you know what's also shameful though megan as i'll say
01:36:41.800 that in the state of minnesota there is this sense of anti-religious bigotry that has to stop
01:36:47.100 we are very thankful that the department of justice has come in has been aggressive about
01:36:52.000 bringing these wrongdoers to justice but we have not heard anything from the state's attorney general
01:36:57.660 um as far as enforcing the law the state attorney general could bring a claim to the face that
01:37:03.300 went on don lemon's podcast the monday after he did it exactly the attorney general like yet another
01:37:09.960 person seeming to have no problem with his violation of the citizens of minnesota's rights
01:37:15.060 pastor you yeah i like i can't imagine what you've been through in trying to comfort your
01:37:20.760 constituents and trying to make sure people feel safe that this isn't going to be an every week
01:37:25.980 kind of thing meanwhile you have don lemon out there cloaking himself in like this you know the
01:37:32.100 the protection of journalism like he's ben bradley of the washington post when you saw that the doj
01:37:38.520 actually did charge him and said we are not going to treat you any differently just because you had a mic
01:37:44.640 in your hand how did you feel yeah you know that is the job of the department of justice you know as
01:37:50.720 as christians we preach the gospel we gather to worship jesus you know jesus is real is our worldview
01:37:56.940 it's also the treasure of our hearts and and because of that we're going to be okay ultimately no matter
01:38:03.660 what but we're thankful that according to romans 13 rulers are put in place by god to punish wrongdoing
01:38:11.920 and so we're grateful that right now the department of justice is doing that now the he of course went
01:38:19.280 on this podcast after it happened just days after and said the churchgoers are white supremacists
01:38:24.400 um having zero basis to make that accusation um then said churchgoers were doing the exact opposite
01:38:32.140 of what christianity is supposed to be all about i like i can't how did you feel when you heard him
01:38:38.340 insulting the congregants in that way yeah you know there's been a lot of insults like that and the bible
01:38:44.020 tells us first peter 4 that when we're insulted uh we should receive it as a blessing that the spirit
01:38:51.020 of glory the spirit of god rest upon us we know who we are we know the work of god's grace in our lives
01:38:56.960 our church is made up of people from all kinds of different walks of life it's been our mission to
01:39:03.040 gather to worship jesus weekly to love and serve one another to seek the good of these twin cities
01:39:09.100 we know who we are and we're sticking to that we're continuing to fulfill our mission uh to be
01:39:15.180 who god's called us to be and and we get insults like that uh we're blessed that's what jesus says
01:39:20.800 i wish i could go to your church i would love to come and be a member of your congregation and listen
01:39:27.800 to you preach i i think i would have appreciated the sermon on john as well are things getting back
01:39:32.940 to normal now are people starting to feel you know just a sense of serenity again yeah you know
01:39:38.320 that's a good question and um i was i've been thinking about that just because i get the
01:39:42.260 question a lot how how is your church doing how are things going and again ultimately i want to say
01:39:48.200 because jesus is real we're going to be okay we have a hope we have a future um and and at the same
01:39:54.920 time although that's true we don't want to ignore reality and then the truth is that uh things are
01:39:59.860 still you know they're tough um we have uh seriously increased our security measures uh we have
01:40:06.620 children who are still afraid to come back to church uh we're still working through lots of
01:40:10.900 things as a congregation um but but ultimately we we know god has been so kind to us and so we're
01:40:16.560 very thankful for that i was just a couple nights ago my wife and i were having dinner with um some
01:40:22.120 of the members of our church and i always like to hear how other people would answer that question
01:40:26.340 so i asked them i said hey how how do you think we're doing and my friend said right away three
01:40:31.160 things she said we are more she said we're more bold we're more careful and we're more thankful
01:40:37.440 and i just thought that was a great a great answer and that's something to inspire toward like we want
01:40:42.800 to be more bold more careful and more grateful and you are one yourself uh renee before we let you
01:40:48.680 go quickly is there going to be a civil lawsuit any civil lawsuit against don or the people who did this
01:40:53.400 to you guys well megan the freedom to worship is certainly important that's something that the
01:40:59.280 church is taking very seriously you can appreciate as an attorney i can't get into the legal strategy
01:41:03.900 here today but happy to update you as those details emerge ah but so they're we're not saying no
01:41:10.420 the church is exploring all options to make sure that cities is protected and that this never happens
01:41:15.380 again good good good luck to you both and we will definitely keep covering it thank you
01:41:21.880 and your flock as well thank you wow um before we go it's official a punch bowl news now reporting

01:42:37.600 and the chance to save face that this is just a lateral move that's not a lateral move this is
01:42:43.440 definitely a firing and an emotion but the the president has to do what he has to do he has
