00:00:35.840 hundreds of protesters. All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:01:55.500 narrowly approving the advancement of President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill Act in a 5149 vote.
00:02:02.400 Republicans aiming to pass the bill by a self-imposed July 4th deadline. The bill makes the 2017 Trump
00:02:08.720 tax cuts permanent, increases spending on border security, and implements a host of other campaign
00:02:13.880 promises, including no tax on tips and no tax on overtime. Indiana Senator Republican Jim Banks
00:02:20.440 Sunday on Fox laying out the urgency of extending the 2017 Trump tax cuts before they expire by the
00:02:26.920 end of the year. Remember, this is a tax bill. This is about taxes on working class Americans. And if we 0.93
00:02:33.940 don't pass this bill, these Americans will get such a big tax increase. They're all going to get
00:02:40.200 socked by another $2,000 on average every year. Republicans who are touting the bill point to
00:02:45.720 generational reforms on Medicaid, including imposing work requirements on able-bodied
00:02:51.040 adults. Democrats have used this to accuse the GOP of cutting taxes for the rich while taking away
00:02:57.280 health care for the needy. Republicans counter it reins in the bloated expansion of a program under
00:03:02.620 Presidents Obama and Biden that is supposed to be for the truly needy. Oklahoma Senator Mark Wayne
00:03:08.060 Mullen on changes to Medicaid within the bill. What we're doing is cutting the waste, fraud and
00:03:13.200 abuse, and I want to use that word abuse, out of the Medicaid system and make sure it's for the people
00:03:18.940 that it was originally intended for. Keep in mind, right now, there's 35 million people that live under
00:03:23.300 the poverty line inside the United States, yet there's 70 million that's on Medicaid. Now, it's
00:03:29.360 unsustainable. Medicaid was designed for those in the most dire need, and that's what we need to make
00:03:34.580 sure it's there for. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer attempting to throw a monkey wrench in
00:03:39.360 Republicans' push to pass the bill by Independence Day, demanding the full text of the nearly 1,000-page
00:03:45.400 bill be read aloud on the Senate floor, a time-consuming procedural maneuver aimed at slowing momentum.
00:03:51.600 If the bill passes the Senate, the House is required to wait at least 72 hours before voting on changes
00:03:57.460 made by their Senate colleagues. Republicans are using a special process called reconciliation to pass the
00:04:03.640 bill with a simple majority, meaning only 51 votes are necessary, so no Democrat support would be
00:04:09.760 needed to pass it. Republicans control the Senate, 53-47. Senate clerks began taking turns reading the
00:04:16.340 bill on the floor just before midnight on Saturday. Alabama Senator Republican Katie Britt explaining Sunday
00:04:22.440 morning on CNN what happens once Senate clerks finish reading the bill aloud on the floor.
00:04:28.460 We will move into debate. Democrats will have 10 hours. Republicans will have 10 if they so choose.
00:04:33.140 I would assume Democrats take all 10 of their hours. Republicans may take a few to continue to
00:04:38.220 make the case for this great piece of legislation. And then after that, we'll start voting. So I will
00:04:44.340 actually be in the chair tonight. I am signed up between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. So if anyone is bored
00:04:51.340 or needs an opportunity to put themselves to sleep. C-SPAN 2. C-SPAN 2. But I would imagine if it currently
00:04:57.300 tracks, that's likely when we'll start voting on amendments. And amendments will come from both sides,
00:05:01.940 Jake. And actually, there is no limit to how many people can bring. So I think you'll see some
00:05:06.320 fruitful debate on the floor. Probably a vote on Monday, you think? I would think so.
00:05:10.500 Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on Sunday asking President Trump if he's confident the bill
00:05:15.300 will arrive on his desk by July 4th. I don't know. I mean, I can't tell you that. I hate to say yes.
00:05:20.940 I'd like to say yes. But the problem is if we're two days late or five days late, everybody says,
00:05:25.820 oh, he had a tremendous failure. Whatever it is, as long as we have it, it's very important.
00:05:31.340 If we don't have it, there's a 68 percent tax increase.
00:05:35.380 For now, we wait.
00:05:38.080 In another moment from the Sunday shows, NBC asking Democrat Senator from Connecticut,
00:05:42.740 Chris Murphy, about the record low crossings at the southern border.
00:05:46.280 Do you give the Trump administration some credit for that? And are you,
00:05:51.820 when you look at those figures, do you think things are moving in the right direction,
00:05:55.280 at least in that regard, Senator?
00:05:57.980 No, I don't give them credit for that because border crossings are low because they're violating
00:06:01.820 the law every day. So we have a law in this country that says if you are fleeing terror or
00:06:06.900 torture from another country, you can come here and apply for asylum. The Trump administration
00:06:11.680 has suspended that law. They are not allowing anybody to come here to apply for asylum.
00:06:15.900 So it's true, there are very few people crossing on a daily basis,
00:06:19.740 but that's because the Trump administration is violating the law.
00:06:23.480 Senator Murphy deflecting from the Trump administration's resounding success in securing
00:06:27.720 the border, pointing instead to a side issue unrelated to border enforcement.
00:06:32.900 President Trump did sign an executive order pausing most asylum applications on the first day
00:06:37.480 of his second administration, arguing economic refugees are abusing the asylum process,
00:06:42.740 seeking entry for a better lifestyle rather than actual fears of persecution.
00:06:48.280 Fox News reporting just 5,414 apprehensions at the border and only 986 known gotaways between June 1st
00:06:57.200 and June 22nd. Those are the lowest numbers ever recorded.
00:07:01.280 Coming up, jury deliberations set to begin today in the Sean Diddy Combs criminal trial and Jeff Bezos
00:07:09.280 and Lauren Sanchez greeted by hundreds of angry protesters at their three-day over-the-top wedding
00:07:15.380 extravaganza in Venice, Italy.
00:07:17.440 One in two adults have high blood pressure and many don't even know it. That's a ticking time bomb.

00:08:24.500 the defense finishing its closing argument and the prosecution completing its rebuttal. Combs is facing
00:08:30.340 a total of five counts on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in
00:08:35.480 prostitution. Over the last seven weeks, the defense hearing from 34 witnesses, prosecutors building
00:08:41.420 the case around the testimony of two key witnesses, former girlfriends Cassie Ventura and Jane, who
00:08:47.680 testified using a pseudonym. Both Ventura and Jane describing feeling forced to participate in
00:08:53.540 freak-offs or hotel nights against their will. These prolonged, drug-fueled sexual events involving
00:09:00.120 male escorts choreographed by Combs could last days at a time. In closing arguments, defense attorney
00:09:06.540 Mark Agnifolo arguing the freak-offs and hotel nights were consensual events between consenting
00:09:11.480 adults. Here now, a portion of the defense is closing. The transcript here read by the Diddy
00:09:17.280 trial daily account moderator on X. What is this trial really about, based on the evidence? It's
00:09:23.260 about personal use drugs. That's it. That and a certain lifestyle, swingers. But the prosecution 1.00
00:09:30.620 have used one of the most serious statutes on the book. They've turned threesomes and drugs into RICO, 0.96
00:09:36.880 racketeering. They wrap yellow crime scene tape figuratively around his bedroom, around all the
00:09:43.020 hotels with his girlfriends. That's a lot of crime scene tape. The crime scene is his private sex
00:09:49.420 life. And Cassie, sex trafficking your girlfriend? That only applies to if you're forcing prostitution. 1.00
00:09:56.340 She made a choice, and she left. And guess what happened? Nothing. She always could have left.
00:10:02.900 Pick a message from 2018. These two loved each other. If racketeering conspiracy had an opposite,
00:10:08.660 it was this relationship. On rebuttal, Assistant U.S. Attorney Maureen Comey arguing the defense
00:10:14.200 spent, quote, a whole lot of energy trying to blame Combs' victims and the U.S. government
00:10:19.120 for his lies, his threats, and for his inexcusable behavior. Make no mistake, she continued,
00:10:25.620 this trial was about how, in Sean Combs' world, no was never an option. Throughout the trial,
00:10:32.300 prosecutors repeatedly showing the jury's security camera footage of the 2016 incident at the
00:10:37.200 Intercontinental Hotel, with Cassie Ventura allegedly attempting to flee a freak-off.
00:10:42.740 In footage that is hard to watch, Combs is seen in a towel shoving Ventura to the floor,
00:10:47.660 kicking her, and dragging her from the Intercontinental Hallways back into the hotel room.
00:10:53.520 The defense pointing out that Combs is not charged with domestic abuse here,
00:10:57.340 a charge that has passed its statute of limitations in California. Again,
00:11:02.000 a reading here from the Diddy Trial Daily ex-account.
00:11:04.640 The domestic violence, we own it. We didn't ask Ms. Ventura about being hit,
00:11:09.580 kicked, or dragged. We didn't cross Jane on that either. But domestic violence isn't being 1.00
00:11:15.080 charged. If it were, he would have pled guilty to that because he did that. But racketeering
00:11:20.440 conspiracy, sex trafficking, kidnapping, bribery, he didn't do that.
00:11:25.160 In the government's rebuttal, Assistant U.S. Attorney Comey telling the jury,
00:11:29.020 sex trafficking, involves getting someone to say yes to sex through illegal means like force,
00:11:35.040 fraud, or coercion. Comey telling the jury, quote, when violence is paired with unwanted commercial
00:11:40.900 sex, it turns into trafficking. Being a domestic abuser is not a defense to sex trafficking. If part
00:11:47.940 of the abuse is making your partner participate in a commercial sex act, you are guilty of sex
00:11:53.300 trafficking. Comey telling the jury they only need to find one freak-off or hotel night was sex 0.70
00:11:59.180 trafficking to convict, meaning even if only one of the freak-offs was non-consensual, then that's
00:12:04.900 enough to find Combs guilty. The defense making the case that the jury should acquit Combs on the two
00:12:10.400 counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, which seem the easiest counts on which to convict,
00:12:16.280 and also arguing there was no racketeering conspiracy.
00:12:20.160 Only two escorts testified. Neither admitted prostitution. They were paid for their time.
00:12:27.340 That's legal. Porn actors are paid to have sex. That's legal. Combs thought this was legal. 0.98
00:12:34.580 Racketeering? An enterprise needs organization. Only Combs was charged. No testimony of co-conspirators.
00:12:42.080 So no racketeering. Maybe conspiracy, but no co-conspirators? KK? She was helpful. She was
00:12:49.600 an assistant, but she wasn't a criminal. No evidence of anyone else involved.
00:12:53.840 The prosecutor concluding in rebuttal, quote,
00:12:56.260 For 20 years, the defendant got away with his crimes. That ends in this courtroom. The defendant
00:13:01.920 is not a god. He is a person. And in this courtroom, he stands equal before the law. Overwhelming
00:13:08.180 evidence proves his guilt. It is time to hold him accountable.
00:13:12.080 The jury is set to return to the courtroom this morning. The judge will provide jury
00:13:16.000 instructions, and then deliberations are set to begin. We'll be going live on our YouTube feed
00:13:20.760 as soon as we have a verdict. The Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sanchez three-day coronate, I mean wedding,
00:13:29.000 concluding Saturday evening in Venice, Italy. Bezos, one of the wealthiest men in the world,
00:13:34.120 and his bride reportedly began their love affair in 2018 while still legally married to other people.
00:13:40.120 More than 200 celebrities attended the weekend's events, including self-described astronaut Gayle
00:13:46.360 King, Oprah, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kris Jenner, Tom Brady, Sidney Sweeney, and more.
00:13:54.120 You know, all their closest friends, obviously.
00:13:57.180 Ford Magazine estimating the weekend set the billionaire back by approximately 25 million,
00:14:02.440 hardly a rounding error for him. CNN reporting it was more like 55 million, just a drop in the bucket of
00:14:08.860 the Amazon founders estimated 237 billion net worth. Hundreds protesting the event throughout
00:14:15.480 the weekend. Demonstrators waving signs ranging from kisses yes, Bezos no, to the 1% ruins the world 0.53
00:14:23.740 signs. This as days earlier, the couple's yacht overflowed foam into the Mediterranean from their
00:14:30.440 half-naked foam party in their ship's pool. CNN reporting a group called No Space for Bezos
00:14:37.860 planned a Saturday blockade of the canals near where the couple planned to hold a party,
00:14:42.540 with the group taking credit for forcing a change in venue to a less picturesque shipyard.
00:14:48.560 The bride and groom, moments after saying their I do's, dropping their photos on the cover of Vogue,
00:14:53.960 of course. Vogue readers who fancy themselves a woke, anti-oligarchy types, recoiled with posts
00:15:00.460 online reading, I didn't realize you could just buy a cover now and read the effing room. Instead,
00:15:07.400 the couple would prefer, presumably, that everyone ignore how this relationship began and celebrate the
00:15:13.360 higher love they had their guests sing, thanks Whitney Houston, just after they took their vows.
00:15:20.060 Aww. And that'll do it for your AM update. I'm Megan Kelly. Join me back here for The Megan
