00:00:30.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megyn Kelly.
00:00:34.900 It's Monday, November 17th, 2025, and this is your AM Update.
00:00:39.600 Unfortunately, it has all come down to the Epstein files, and that is shocking.
00:00:45.020 The Epstein files fall out escalating over the weekend, resulting in the political breakup of President Trump and one of his fiercest defenders.
00:00:53.200 The Trump administration rolls back some grocery-related tariffs as affordability concerns take center stage.
00:01:00.720 The right would say really rough things and names, but on the left, it was like they want me to die.
00:01:06.380 Senator John Fetterman's recent health scare results in 20 stitches and a moment of reflection.
00:01:12.800 And California Governor Gavin Newsom is officially prepping for his 2028 run.
00:01:17.200 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.
00:01:21.380 I've been talking a lot about Riverbend Ranch lately because I love their steaks.
00:01:30.120 Riverbend Ranch has taken black Angus beef to a whole new level.
00:01:33.100 For the last 35 years, Riverbend Ranch has been creating a very elite Angus herd by using ultrasound to select genetically superior cattle with a focus on flavor and tenderness.
00:01:45.800 When you buy from Riverbend Ranch, you are not only supporting the 64 cowboys and cowgirls and their families who work on the ranch,
00:01:53.260 but you're also supporting over 260 other U.S. ranches and the hundreds of American families who work on them.
00:01:59.400 It is born in the U.S.A., raised in the U.S.A., and processed in the U.S.A.
00:02:04.400 It is aged to perfection for 21 days and shipped directly from the ranch to your home.
00:02:09.680 This is not your average black Angus beef.
00:02:12.180 So order from RiverbendRanch.com.
00:02:15.120 Use the promo code MEGAN for 20 bucks off your first order and let me know what you think.
00:02:20.380 RiverbendRanch.com, promo code MEGAN.
00:02:22.700 The House reportedly set to vote tomorrow on a bill compelling the Department of Justice to release most of the remaining Jeffrey Epstein files,
00:02:33.800 barring classified information, child sex abuse material, and information identifying victims.
00:02:39.780 The vote comes after a small band of Republicans joined Democrats in a petition to sidestep House GOP leadership and force a vote.
00:02:47.380 Speaker Mike Johnson yesterday on Fox downplaying the move he strongly opposed.
00:02:52.700 So it will be on the floor again next week.
00:02:54.460 I suspect there will be lots of votes that will just get this done and move it on.
00:02:58.020 There is nothing to hide.
00:02:59.260 And the oversight committee is releasing far more information than the discharge petition, their little gambit, ever even anticipated.
00:03:05.740 They never even mentioned in the discharge, the Epstein estate files.
00:03:08.660 And that is the treasure trove of documents that has given us Epstein's flight logs, his personal records, his financial ledgers, his daily calendar.
00:03:17.140 None of that was anticipated.
00:03:18.100 So the discharge is totally moot.
00:03:20.320 It is a political exercise.
00:03:21.960 And we're going to dispense with that this week.
00:03:23.840 Speaker Johnson referencing the recent drop of thousands of documents released by the oversight committee obtained from the Epstein estate as part of the committee's investigation into the DOJ's handling of the case.
00:03:35.360 President Trump accusing Congressman Thomas Massey of Kentucky, as well as Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, and Lauren Boebert of Colorado, all Republicans, of aiding Democrats in distracting from the administration's accomplishments.
00:03:50.640 Mr. Trump, last night, departing Palm Beach.
00:03:53.740 They just keep bringing that up to deflect from the tremendous success of the Trump administration.
00:04:00.080 So a guy like Massey, his poll numbers are showing he's at 6 percent approval rating right now.
00:04:05.800 And we call him Rand Paul Jr. because he never he never votes for the Republican Party.
00:04:11.180 So they're using Jeffrey Epstein as a deflection from the tremendous success that we're having as a party.
00:04:18.480 On Friday morning, President Trump posting to Truth Social that he will ask Attorney General Pam Bondi and the DOJ to investigate some Epstein dirt, specifically Epstein's relationship with former President Bill Clinton, former Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton Larry Summers, billionaire tech titan and Trump antagonist Reid Hoffman, and more.
00:04:40.140 A.G. Bondi on Friday afternoon posting to X, quote,
00:04:43.100 Southern District of New York, U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton is one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country, and I've asked him to take the lead.
00:04:52.100 A spokesperson for President Clinton stating the former president had no knowledge of Epstein's crimes.
00:04:58.120 Summers previously expressing regret for associating with Epstein.
00:05:02.520 And boy, did they associate.
00:05:04.820 Go check out last Thursday's MK show for details on the dating advice Summers sought from Epstein.
00:05:11.180 Reid Hoffman on Friday calling on President Trump to release all files, saying that will clear his name.
00:05:17.760 In the meantime, Congressman Massey, a co-sponsor of the Epstein files bill, maintaining he does not believe President Trump will be implicated by any further releases, but that some of his powerful friends and donors might be.
00:05:30.980 This is yesterday on ABC.
00:05:32.320 I think he's trying to protect a bunch of rich and powerful friends, billionaires, donors to his campaign, friends in his social circles.
00:05:41.000 And that's my operating theory on why he's trying so hard to keep these files closed.
00:05:46.640 I would remind my Republican colleagues who are deciding how to vote.
00:05:50.340 Donald Trump can protect you in red districts right now by giving you an endorsement.
00:05:54.800 But in 2030, he's not going to be the president and you will have voted to protect pedophiles if you don't vote to release these files and the president can't protect you.
00:06:04.400 Congressman Massey also suggesting the president's order to reopen an investigation may actually be an attempt to block the files altogether, since materials tied to an active probe cannot be released.
00:06:22.020 The fallout deepening over the weekend, President Trump on Friday night cutting ties with Congresswoman MTG of Georgia, writing on Truth Social, quote,
00:06:31.260 I am withdrawing my support and endorsement of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of the great state of Georgia.
00:06:38.160 All I see wacky Marjorie do is complain, complain, complain.
00:06:42.700 The president adding if the right person primaries Greene, he will support that candidate.
00:06:47.060 Congresswoman Greene appearing yesterday on CNN, saying she still supports the president's MAGA agenda, but will not buckle on this issue.
00:06:55.480 I stood with President Trump when virtually no one else did.
00:06:59.440 Unfortunately, it has all come down to the Epstein files, and that is shocking.
00:07:05.120 And, you know, I stand with these women.
00:07:07.600 I stand with rape victims.
00:07:09.140 I stand with children who are in terrible sex abuse situations.
00:07:13.860 And I stand with survivors of trafficking and those that are trapped in sex trafficking.
00:07:20.780 And I will not apologize for that.
00:07:23.620 I believe the country deserves transparency in these files.
00:07:27.660 And I don't believe that rich, powerful people should be protected if they have done anything wrong.
00:07:36.280 And so I'm standing with the women, and I will continue to do my small part to get the files released.
00:07:44.440 All of this fracturing could ultimately be for naught.
00:07:47.380 If the bill passes as Congressman Massey believes it will, the legislation still faces an uphill battle in the Senate where 60 votes are required to pass it.
00:07:55.860 And Senate leadership has not even committed to bringing it to a vote.
00:07:59.220 President Trump on Friday rolling back tariffs on dozens of food items.
00:08:05.140 The move coming one day after the administration announced new trade frameworks with Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
00:08:13.660 Agreements the White House says now allow certain tariffs to be lifted.
00:08:17.760 Treasury Secretary Scott Besson Sunday on Fox.
00:08:20.860 We've been working on trade deals with Central and South American countries there for six, seven, eight months.
00:08:27.360 And just this past week, we signed the trade deals.
00:08:31.440 So not only will the tariffs come off some of the things you just listed, that's a result of the trade deals going through.
00:08:39.660 And then we will see this go down.
00:08:41.820 And we're also seeing the import barriers for the other countries come through.
00:08:46.820 So this is a complete trade policy.
00:08:50.460 And now we are going to see it affect the prices.
00:08:53.300 Items affected include coffee, tea, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, beef, and more.
00:08:58.780 President Trump utilizing sweeping tariffs as a signature tool in his economic strategy,
00:09:04.000 leveraging the U.S. economy to pressure trading partners into new deals the White House finds more balanced.
00:09:09.960 Aboard Air Force One on Friday, President Trump conceding tariffs do impact U.S. consumer prices.
00:09:15.640 Mr. President, you said that tariffs do not increase prices for consumers, but now you're lowering tariffs.
00:09:22.200 I say they may in some cases.
00:09:25.800 White House officials insisting under President Trump's plan, prices will continue to decline.
00:09:31.180 Director of the National Economic Council Kevin Hassett yesterday on ABC.
00:09:35.860 If you're going to the store to buy groceries for Thanksgiving, it's going to be more expensive.
00:09:40.140 I really don't understand where you're going in the sense that Joe Biden gave us 20 percent inflation.
00:09:46.200 He's not president.
00:09:46.960 Donald Trump's president.
00:09:47.660 No, and you want us to fix the hole that Joe Biden does right away.
00:09:51.420 No, I'm just saying, why does the president tell everybody?
00:09:53.700 The prices went up so much under Joe Biden, and inflation is way down.
00:09:57.240 Inflation is about half what it was in December.
00:09:59.560 This is something that's being fixed fast.
00:10:01.580 And real incomes are up after dropping about $3,000 under Joe Biden.
00:10:04.920 And so, sure, you can find a few things where the price is higher, but there's a whole bunch of stuff when the price is lower, like gasoline, like mortgage rates.
00:10:11.220 When are we going to get the Republican plan to deal?
00:10:12.920 You understand that mortgage rates have gone way down, and it's much cheaper to buy a home now than it was.
00:10:16.960 The timing of the announcement, not a minute too soon, as the White House contends with mounting bipartisan criticism relating to cost of living anxiety.
00:10:25.600 Coming up, Democrat Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania recovering from a health scare, bringing out the worst of his party.
00:10:35.500 And far-left California Governor Gavin Newsom officially setting the stage for a White House run in 2028.
00:10:46.600 Did you know that up until the 1990s, all chips and fries were cooked in beef tallow?
00:10:50.960 Those memories of you at McDonald's in the 80s, that was beef tallow, not seed oils.
00:10:56.000 But then, big food companies made the switch to cheap, highly processed seed oils.
00:11:00.560 And now they make up 20% of the average American's daily calories.
00:11:03.980 This is why I'm excited to tell you about masa.
00:11:06.120 It's a chip that's doing things differently.
00:11:08.060 You have four masa chips, you feel sated.
00:11:11.720 You don't have to eat the whole bag.
00:11:13.460 Masa chips are made with just three ingredients.
00:11:16.300 Organic corn, sea salt, and 100% grass-fed beef tallow.
00:11:19.840 That's it.
00:11:21.020 No seed oils, no junk.
00:11:23.080 And let me tell you, they are so good.
00:11:24.480 They're crunchier, they're tastier, and they do not break into your guac.
00:11:28.200 Plus, they leave you feeling light, satisfied, and energized.
00:11:31.540 It's truly, truly true.
00:11:33.800 No crash, no blow.
00:11:34.840 Go try them.
00:11:35.400 You're going to taste the difference and you're going to love them.
00:11:37.380 Ready to give masa a try?
00:11:38.740 Go to masachips.com slash mk.
00:11:41.040 Masachips.com.
00:11:42.200 And use code mk for 25% off your first order.
00:11:45.120 That's masachips.com slash mk.
00:11:47.180 Code mk when you check out to get 25% off your first order.
00:11:50.640 Don't feel like ordering online?
00:11:52.340 Well, Masa is now available nationwide at your local Sprouts supermarket.
00:11:57.840 U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, Democrat John Fetterman,
00:12:01.100 posting a selfie to X on Saturday,
00:12:03.680 showing off a face full of stitches following a medical scare.
00:12:07.480 The caption reading, quote,
00:12:08.660 According to a spokesperson, Mr. Fetterman was on a walk Thursday morning
00:12:21.360 when he felt lightheaded, triggering a fall.
00:12:24.580 Doctors later determining the cause,
00:12:26.500 a ventricular fibrillation flare-up,
00:12:29.100 a dangerous type of irregular heartbeat that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest or even death.
00:12:34.020 This, the latest health emergency suffered by Senator Fetterman,
00:12:37.960 who was originally diagnosed with a heart condition in 2017,
00:12:41.700 followed by a serious stroke in 2022.
00:12:45.000 Post-stroke, Senator Fetterman struggling with a litany of complications,
00:12:49.160 including auditory processing difficulties and bouts of depression,
00:12:52.960 documented in a newly released memoir titled Unfettered.
00:12:56.800 The latest health setback highlighting a theme Senator Fetterman writes about in his book.
00:13:01.760 Since being elected to office,
00:13:04.040 the senator drawing blistering criticism from members of the left
00:13:07.500 for siding with Republicans on reopening the government
00:13:10.660 and on his support for Israel.
00:13:13.600 Fetterman telling CNN last week attacks from liberals,
00:13:16.640 especially on left-wing social media platform Blue Sky,
00:13:20.120 are much darker and more personal than criticism he gets from the right.
00:13:24.220 And when I asked my digital team, I said,
00:13:27.300 you know, we're on all the platforms,
00:13:29.360 you know, really, what's kind of the harshest,
00:13:31.160 what's kind of the most personal?
00:13:32.740 And the answer was immediate.
00:13:34.680 He said, oh, Blue Sky, it's Blue Sky.
00:13:36.960 And the difference is, I mean,
00:13:38.540 the right would say really rough things and names,
00:13:41.720 you know, some names I won't repeat on TV,
00:13:44.800 but on the left, it was like,
00:13:46.580 they want me to die,
00:13:47.820 or that we're cheering for your next stroke,
00:13:50.620 or why couldn't it depression one?
00:13:53.240 And I hope your kids find you.
00:13:56.140 And I don't know what the kind of a place where that comes from.
00:13:58.480 I mean, that's much different than just calling me a name.
00:14:02.000 And that's really been consistent, you know,
00:14:05.240 in that community online.
00:14:07.220 One Blue Sky user reacting to Senator Fetterman's fall,
00:14:10.240 quote, karma is a bitch, ain't it, Fetterman?
00:14:13.480 Another writing, quote, tragically, he's expected to live.
00:14:17.020 According to local outlet PennLive,
00:14:19.020 Senator Fetterman has voted with the Trump administration
00:14:21.300 just 6% of the time.
00:14:23.880 California Governor Gavin Newsom sitting with Politico
00:14:28.360 for a lengthy puff, I mean, profile.
00:14:31.840 The headline, admit it,
00:14:33.640 Gavin Newsom is the 2028 frontrunner.
00:14:36.860 Politico also giving Newsom the opportunity
00:14:38.900 to promote the release of a long-delayed memoir,
00:14:42.260 Hard Hitting.
00:14:43.620 Politico pointing to the governor's social media presence,
00:14:46.320 where he routinely challenges the Trump administration
00:14:48.980 as a key early factor,
00:14:51.340 setting him apart from the other likely contenders.
00:14:54.180 Quote, if you believe the phone in your hand
00:14:56.580 will, more than any factor,
00:14:58.740 determine the next Democratic nominee,
00:15:00.840 it's hard not to grasp Newsom's strength.
00:15:04.020 As the kids say, he gives main character energy.
00:15:08.080 Oh, Lord.
00:15:09.540 Newsom's social media accounts in recent months,
00:15:11.900 reportedly run by a team
00:15:13.280 led by a 29-year-old female staffer,
00:15:16.160 morphing into tired parodies
00:15:17.660 of President Trump's signature style,
00:15:20.060 featuring third-person references,
00:15:21.900 capital letters,
00:15:23.300 and AI-generated images mocking political rivals.
00:15:27.300 Newsom recently admitted
00:15:28.580 to harboring presidential ambitions,
00:15:31.040 though telling CBS he will wait
00:15:32.780 until after the 2026 midterms
00:15:34.800 to seriously consider running.
00:15:36.820 He's just sitting with Politico
00:15:38.340 talking about the presidency for the fun of it.
00:15:40.860 In the meantime,
00:15:41.640 the governor wading into several
00:15:43.300 cross-state political battles,
00:15:45.360 successfully leading a redistricting
00:15:47.060 counter-offensive in his state,
00:15:48.600 adding more Democrat-leaning House seats
00:15:50.840 to offset an effort in Texas
00:15:52.540 to add more Republican-leaning House seats.
00:15:55.820 Last week, Newsom traveling to Brazil
00:15:57.620 for an international climate summit,
00:16:00.240 skipped by the White House.
00:16:02.080 Newsom saying in the profile,
00:16:03.560 he wants the Democrat Party, quote,
00:16:05.420 to be the mansion to the Mamdani Party.
00:16:09.200 I want it to be inclusive,
00:16:10.900 a reference to retired,
00:16:12.280 moderate Democrat-turned-independent
00:16:13.980 Senator Joe Manchin,
00:16:14.900 and to New York City mayor-elect
00:16:17.040 Democratic Socialist Zoran Mamdani.
00:16:19.720 San Francisco power broker Willie Brown,
00:16:21.860 who appointed Newsom
00:16:22.720 to his first political post,
00:16:24.600 and who also knew Kamala Harris
00:16:26.520 really, really well,
00:16:28.920 asked by Politico
00:16:29.860 what the governor actually believes.
00:16:32.540 Willie Brown saying, quote,
00:16:34.020 I don't know.
00:16:34.800 I've never asked him.
00:16:35.960 For fear, he doesn't know.
00:16:38.140 His memoir was originally set
00:16:39.700 to release last May,
00:16:41.240 delayed reportedly due to the wildfires.
00:16:43.640 You know, the ones that burned
00:16:45.120 tens of thousands of acres
00:16:46.600 and nearly 7,000 homes
00:16:48.380 and structures in L.A.
00:16:49.900 Now, Gavin Newsom's memoir
00:16:51.400 will hit in February.
00:16:53.040 The title, quote,
00:16:54.200 Young Man in a Hurry,
00:16:55.840 A Memoir of Discovery.
00:16:58.280 The governor telling Politico
00:16:59.440 the book is honest and reflective
00:17:01.680 and written in part,
00:17:03.240 Mr. Newsom says,
00:17:04.100 because, quote,
00:17:05.120 I was also trying to understand
00:17:06.800 who I am.
00:17:08.560 Of course, the Megyn Kelly Show
00:17:09.680 will read this book,
00:17:10.500 so you don't have to.
00:17:14.360 And that'll do it
00:17:15.260 for your AM update.
