00:00:18.580Congressman Al Green's unprecedented outburst at President Trump's joint address. I think the
00:00:24.820president's hope is that by the end of the term, we build the entire border wall. Vice President
00:00:29.520J.D. Vance calling on Congress to provide resources to fortify the southern border and deport illegal
00:00:35.180aliens. The Supreme Court delivering a blow to the Trump administration's order to freeze
00:00:39.800foreign aid funding. But is it as bad as the media suggests? And Mr. Trump's plan for a Gaza Riviera
00:00:47.460may not have been bluster after all. All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM update.

00:01:56.940IRS acts first. Multiple censure resolutions circulating the halls of Congress following
00:02:04.840Texas Congressman Al Green's unprecedented outburst during President Trump's joint address. First to the
00:02:11.640floor, Washington Congressman Dan Newhouse. Now, therefore, be it resolved that Representative
00:02:18.220Al Green be censured. Representative Al Green forthwith present himself in the well of the
00:02:24.660House of Representatives for the pronouncement of censure and Representative Al Green be censured
00:02:31.880with the public reading of this resolution by the Speaker. The measure is expected to be taken
00:02:37.460up within days. Fox News Digital reporting Texas Congressman Troy Nels has his own resolution,
00:02:43.600co-signed by about 30 House Republicans, and still a third will be filed by the House Freedom Caucus.
00:02:50.300Immediately following his removal from the chamber, Mr. Green telling reporters he's prepared for any
00:02:55.800consequences. I'm willing to suffer whatever punishment is available to me. I didn't say to anyone,
00:03:01.740don't punish me. I've said I'll accept the punishment, but it's worth it to let people know
00:03:06.860that there are some of us who are going to stand up against this president's desire to cut Medicaid,
00:03:12.320Medicare, and Social Security. Democrat disrespect hitting its peak in a moment where President Trump
00:03:18.120honored a 13-year-old boy with brain cancer. As Republican members delivered a standing ovation for
00:03:24.400DJ Daniel, Democrats remained seated. The partisan reaction continuing on MSNBC after the fact with
00:03:32.520this incredible comment from Nicole Wallace. And I hope he lives the life he wants to live with you,
00:03:39.540and I hope he has a long life as a law enforcement officer. But I hope he never has to defend the
00:03:45.100United States Capitol against Donald Trump supporters. And if he does, I hope he isn't one of the six who
00:03:50.720loses his life to suicide. Senator John Fetterman, who was in attendance, posting to X, quote,
00:03:56.160a sad cavalcade of self-owns and unhinged petulance. We are becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody
00:04:03.460pays attention to, and it may not be a winning message. A CBS News YouGov poll surveying speech
00:04:10.120watchers showing high marks for the president. 76 percent overall approved of the speech, 74 percent saying
00:04:17.180it was presidential, 68 percent reporting it made them feel hopeful and proud, and 63 percent saying
00:04:23.540Mr. Trump focused on issues they care about. Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete
00:04:32.060Hegseth, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard touring the southern border in Eagle Pass,
00:04:38.160Texas. Border officials escorting the delegation on an aerial tour, providing updates to enforcement
00:04:44.020efforts. In a briefing, the vice president making some news with this comment.
00:04:48.700I think the president's hope is that by the end of the term, we build the entire border wall.
00:04:53.300And of course, that's the physical structure of the border wall itself. But we even heard today,
00:04:57.320there are so many good technological tools. We're using artificial intelligence to make us better at
00:05:03.240the job of border enforcement. In the first Trump administration, the projected cost of the border
00:05:07.800wall was between $8 and $12 billion. A 2023 House Homeland Security Committee report says the Biden
00:05:14.080migrant crisis could cost taxpayers up to $451 billion. As illegal border crossings plummet,
00:05:21.980the rate of deportations is also slowing down. In the first week of the Trump administration,
00:05:27.700daily numbers on the deportations were being posted to social media, tallying up arrests and removals.
00:05:34.160Those updates have stopped. Vice President J.D. Vance defending the administration's efforts,
00:05:40.140but calling on Congress for more support.
00:05:42.800One of the most important parts of the president's reconciliation priorities is, of course,
00:05:47.260tax reform on the one hand. And on the other hand, making sure that we get proper resources so
00:05:52.820that we can pay for the flights and we can pay for the detention centers and we can pay for all the
00:05:57.220components necessary to ensure that we're re-migrating illegal immigrants back to their country of origin.
00:06:03.260Congress is currently working on a continuing resolution with hopes of passing a budget in
00:06:08.120September. Stanford's Dr. Jay Bhattacharya yesterday morning appearing before the Senate
00:06:16.560Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Dr. Bhattacharya is President Trump's pick to lead
00:06:22.160the National Institutes of Health. The NIH is the biomedical research agency of the U.S. with a $47
00:06:29.000billion budget and 27 sub-institutes and centers. The NIH deeply involved in many controversial aspects
00:06:37.000of public debates like vaccines, animal testing, and the COVID response. Dr. Bhattacharya promising to
00:06:44.400achieve President Trump's mission to restore trust in institutions and to make America healthy again.
00:06:50.200During COVID, Dr. Bhattacharya bucked establishment thinking, authoring the Great Barrington Declaration
00:06:56.000in October 2020. The declaration opposed COVID lockdowns, advocated for natural immunity,
00:07:03.200and for a policy focused on protecting the most vulnerable. A completely opposite policy than the
00:07:09.780one advocated by the Biden administration, which worked to silence Dr. Bhattacharya. Dr. Francis Collins,
00:07:16.300who used to run the NIH, referred to the Barrington Declaration as the work of, quote, fringe epidemiologists.
00:07:22.940After Elon Musk bought Twitter, he revealed that the administration under Joe Biden pressured the
00:07:28.980social media company to suppress Dr. Bhattacharya's posts, the doctor sharing with the committee his
00:07:34.060view on the role of scientists in public debate. The proper role of scientists in a pandemic is to
00:07:41.360answer basic questions that policymakers have about what the right policy should be. Our role isn't to
00:07:47.660make decisions to say you shouldn't be saying goodbye to your grandfather as he's dying in a
00:07:54.120hospital. It shouldn't be to say you can't have a funeral because it's too dangerous. The scientists
00:07:59.720say here's what the risks are, and then you decide whether you take it. Dr. Bhattacharya facing a
00:08:05.660question from Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, who is also a doctor, on the value of revisiting what
00:08:12.060Senator Cassidy considers a thoroughly examined issue, the link between vaccines and autism.
00:08:18.180Just because somebody is upset about something, do we have the opportunity cost of devoting
00:08:23.400resources at something which has already been pretty well examined? Yes, you're absolutely right,
00:08:28.400Senator. We don't need to address every idea or concern. But if those concerns result in
00:08:35.280parents not wanting to vaccinate their children for a vaccine that is well tested, my sense is that
00:08:41.840my inclination is to give people good data. Despite some controversial topics, the hearing
00:08:47.200overall remained well-mannered. The most contentious issue caps on indirect funding. Now that refers to
00:08:54.380the overhead costs of medical research. The Wall Street Journal reporting these costs can range from
00:09:00.08015 percent to 90 percent of a total grant. In early February, the Trump administration moved to cap
00:09:07.500indirect costs at 15 percent, a move quickly challenged in court. Last night, a federal judge
00:09:14.340extending the block on imposing caps as the case winds through the courts. These caps would result in
00:09:21.380massive funding cuts to universities, Republican and Democrat senators pressing Dr. Bhattacharya on the issue.
00:09:27.560Trump administration announced an illegal plan to cap indirect cost rates at 15 percent. That amounts
00:09:34.040to a massive funding cut for research institutions, large and small, red and blue states, everyone.
00:09:39.620To impose this arbitrary cap makes no sense at all. And this is in blatant defiance of appropriations law,
00:09:50.620which prohibits NIH from capping these costs. Dr. Bhattacharya, recognizing the senator's concerns,
00:09:57.400but reiterating the stance of the Trump administration, there is too much waste in government and in its grants.
00:10:03.560The money that comes to me, the direct costs as researchers, I understand exactly where that money goes.
00:10:09.260The indirect costs, I don't know where that goes. I think that a lot of it likely goes to the things that are worthwhile.
00:10:15.380And I've heard lots of folks, including from Stanford, who say that. And I agree with them. You know, support for buildings,
00:10:21.760light bulbs to make sure that we can see in the lab, and a whole host of other important things.
00:10:27.540But there's a lot of distrust about where the money goes because the trust in the public health establishment has collapsed in the pandemic.
00:10:35.100I think transparency regarding indirect costs is absolutely worthwhile. And I want to make sure that the money goes to the research.
00:10:42.420Republican Senator from Kansas, Roger Marshall, backing up Dr. Bhattacharya, calling indirect funding a grift from universities.
00:10:50.300Later today, the hearing from Mr. Trump's pick to head the FDA, Dr. Marty McCary of Johns Hopkins, will take place.
00:10:57.200Coming up, the Supreme Court delivers a temporary blow to the Trump administration, and the president's grand vision for the reconstruction of Gaza may not have been a negotiating tactic after all.
00:11:13.700The human body is incredible, capable of repair and growth that amazes scientists, even in 2025.
00:11:20.360But as the years pass, natural healing and building processes slow down.
00:11:24.640While this is normal, there is a way to support your body.
00:11:27.200A collagen supplement from Ancient Nutrition can help you look and feel your best.
00:11:32.100For centuries, people have searched for a mythical fountain of youth.
