The Michael Knowles Show - Daily Wire Backstage： DNC Dumpster Fire Edition

00:00:00.420 Hey, Michael Knowles here, and do I have a treat for you.

00:00:03.040 The latest episode of Daily Wire Backstage is right around the corner, and you do not

00:00:07.840 want to miss it.

00:00:08.520 Join me, Ben Shapiro, Andrew Klavan, and the God King Jeremy Boring as we discuss the latest

00:00:12.920 news and cultural events, all while enjoying some fine whiskey and cigars.

00:00:16.900 It is going to be all that and more.

00:00:19.140 Take a listen.

00:00:21.280 Do we have to do the fake laugh?

00:00:24.140 Well, that's going to trend on Twitter.

00:00:27.720 Welcome to the Daily Wire Backstage, the DNC Dumpster Fire Edition.

00:00:32.140 I'm Jeremy Boring, known around here as the Boss Man, Sir, and also God King, Laura Case K.

00:00:38.100 We're glad you have tuned in.

00:00:39.780 Roll intro. 0.97

00:00:53.960 Did the Democrats manage to pick up any new votes after this crap show of a week?

00:00:57.720 Was not naming the Democratic Convention the Chaz version a mistake on their part? 0.70

00:01:02.020 And will Republicans be able to pull off a better shoe?

00:01:05.300 Is there anyone on God's green earth that Biden is actually going to...

00:01:09.860 Will anyone on God's green earth be able to convince Joe Biden to get on a stage and

00:01:12.760 to vote Donald Trump?

00:01:14.080 No.

00:01:15.040 Joining me to discuss all of this and more, the Ben Shapiro, the Andrew Klavan, Michael Knowles,

00:01:19.740 and the lovely Elisha Krause with us via satellite.

00:01:22.840 Elisha, what have you got for us?

00:01:23.780 Well, real quick question, though.

00:01:25.400 Speaking of how awful the DNC was, is Matt Walsh contractually obligated to host a solo

00:01:30.160 DNC watch party like I'm contractually obligated to be here every month?

00:01:34.920 We leave nothing to chance.

00:01:37.560 And speaking of brand new things that I'm contractually obligated to do, stick around

00:01:41.740 tonight for the all-access live that's happening after the show and join all the guys, Jeremy,

00:01:46.500 Ben, Michael, Drew, and of course, moi, for a members-only live stream discussion that's

00:01:51.700 going to be moderated by yours truly.

00:01:53.400 And if you want to join us, here's the thing.

00:01:55.240 You have to be an all-access member.

00:01:56.700 And if you are a member, go ahead and click the link in the description below wherever

00:02:00.260 you're watching this once the show ends to join the discussion.

00:02:04.120 And if you're like me and you love a good sale, great news for you.

00:02:07.200 We have a limited time offer going on so you can participate in tonight's all-access live.

00:02:12.340 Become a Daily Wire all-access member for 20% off with coupon code ACCESS to join in on

00:02:17.880 the fun.

00:02:18.140 Thank you, Alicia.

00:02:20.520 We'll look forward to visiting with everybody after the show.

00:02:23.560 So guys, one of the good things about being, well, me compared to being you, is that I

00:02:28.600 don't have to watch every moment of the DNC and then talk about it the next morning.

00:02:32.260 So for me, it was kind of a crash course today as the guys kept chasing me down the hall

00:02:37.020 with a laptop trying to get me to watch various parts of the DNC.

00:02:40.740 And all I have to admit, I found it to be incredibly compelling television.

00:02:44.980 I actually sent in hoping to get the tote bag when they went to commercial break.

00:02:49.660 This was the most horrible public access TV show that has ever existed on God's.

00:02:55.520 I thought all of Hollywood was in service to the Democrats.

00:02:59.760 How on earth did somebody think that they could field this thing and call it television?

00:03:04.540 What are they thinking, Drew?

00:03:06.240 You know, one of the things that really struck me about it is how protected they feel and rightly

00:03:11.900 feel they are by the news media.

00:03:13.540 They know they can get up there and do what is one of the what was one of the dullest shows

00:03:18.520 ever featuring some of the most corrupt individuals ever making speeches about how

00:03:24.060 awful America is.

00:03:25.100 And yet every time you turned on not just CNN, but the networks as well, they were just in

00:03:30.700 absolute raptures.

00:03:32.120 I mean, that the idea that that is incisive commentary to sit around.

00:03:35.500 My favorite line was, I think it was Anderson Cooper who said that it was an it was a history

00:03:42.100 making and a history quaking history shaking speech by Barack Obama.

00:03:47.980 Margaret Brennan of CBS was actually clutching her hands to her chest like Tess Trueheart after 0.99

00:03:53.220 she'd been rescued by Dick Tracy.

00:03:55.480 I mean, it was just they just feel they can count on that.

00:03:58.220 And I don't know we can see them the way we can.

00:04:00.720 And I you know, you can always be wrong about this.

00:04:03.220 I think the polls are going to go swing Trump's way after the DNC.

00:04:07.740 I think it was one of the few DNC's that's not going to have the usual bump because it

00:04:12.380 was just appalling.

00:04:13.520 Yeah.

00:04:13.760 You know, there's this this problem that the Democrats have had with taking things for

00:04:18.160 granted, which is they keep putting forward nothing.

00:04:21.680 Joe Biden is not a person.

00:04:23.140 Joe Biden is nothing.

00:04:24.660 The same goes for Kamala Harris. 0.73

00:04:25.780 That's not true.

00:04:26.240 It's Dr. Joe Biden's husband.

00:04:27.700 I'm sorry.

00:04:28.160 He's Dr. Joe Biden's husband.

00:04:29.480 And they stand for nothing.

00:04:30.900 Right. 0.99

00:04:31.080 They just lick their finger.

00:04:32.040 They put it up in the wind.

00:04:32.880 They figure out which way it's blowing.

00:04:34.920 They don't stand for anything at all.

00:04:36.560 This was true of the whole DNC.

00:04:38.260 They learned the wrong lesson from Clint Eastwood in 2012, which is everyone looked at that Clint

00:04:44.280 Eastwood speech where he talks to the empty chair and they said, oh, how embarrassing.

00:04:47.880 What a weird moment.

00:04:48.940 That was the only watchable moment from a party convention probably in my entire lifetime.

00:04:53.560 It was alive.

00:04:54.380 It was spontaneous.

00:04:55.420 It took an otherwise completely dull campaign, made it a little bit lively.

00:04:59.680 Ideally, you'd want your candidate to be putting forth something new and interesting.

00:05:03.080 But in lieu of that, at least put on a good show.

00:05:05.560 The Democrats just feel that they don't have to.

00:05:07.480 You know, there were some telling elements to this.

00:05:10.600 First of all, it was clear that Biden and Harris were complete afterthoughts throughout

00:05:14.100 the entire convention. 0.75

00:05:15.020 The entire convention was about how Donald Trump is a very, very bad orange man. 0.91

00:05:18.400 And our program doesn't really matter because he's a bad orange man. 1.00

00:05:21.160 And then Joe Biden, light bringer for some reason, they literally used the word light in

00:05:25.600 that speech 11 times.

00:05:26.740 Right.

00:05:26.800 I mean, he actually cribbed from Marianne Williamson.

00:05:28.440 They're all making fun of Marianne Williamson and the dark psychic forces.

00:05:31.320 He just cribbed from her the way he cribs from everybody else.

00:05:33.580 And he did the dark versus light.

00:05:34.960 And Joe Biden, 50 years on Capitol Hill, the light bringer is a weird take, especially after

00:05:40.000 a week of we're in the throes of fascism and we're about to destroy our entire democracy

00:05:43.940 through voter fraud and all of this stuff.

00:05:46.160 But what struck me about the entertainment value, that's just the pure entertainment value

00:05:48.720 of it, was that the part of it that was the most entertaining.

00:05:51.580 There were a couple of speeches that were, I mean, frankly, I thought Michelle Obama did

00:05:54.300 a pretty good job.

00:05:54.840 I thought that Obama is good at what he does.

00:05:56.460 I mean, for what he is, he's good at what he does.

00:05:58.320 Biden, it was it was like watching Nick Walenda.

00:06:00.580 You're watching it mostly to see if Nick Walenda is going to fall.

00:06:03.040 And when he didn't fall, there's a sense of like, well, that's good, but also slight

00:06:05.740 disappointment.

00:06:06.740 And the part that was the least entertaining, but in some ways the most amusing, were the

00:06:10.700 actual entertainment figures.

00:06:12.060 So they brought out like Kerry Washington to lecture us on how our lives is at stake.

00:06:15.440 And all I could think is she's probably with 30 million bucks living in the Hollywood Hills. 1.00

00:06:18.380 Her life ain't at stake under any circumstances.

00:06:20.280 They brought over Billie Eilish straight off the Xanax bottle to inform us how excited

00:06:24.920 she was about endorsing Joe Biden from a graveyard.

00:06:27.640 I mean, like from an actual graveyard.

00:06:29.320 That's where all the voters are.

00:06:30.780 So it was a little right in Illinois.

00:06:33.260 Although again, like I think that endorsing Joe Biden from a graveyard is just too on the

00:06:36.680 nose.

00:06:36.980 It really is not.

00:06:37.740 It's not appropriate, frankly.

00:06:39.200 And they had her sing a kind of bizarre little ditty.

00:06:41.460 And they had Common do like a 25 minute music video from the end of Selma.

00:06:45.220 And then they had Billy Porter, who I'd never heard of until the last three years when he

00:06:49.160 started, I guess, getting up at major events in women's in women's garb and receiving all

00:06:55.080 sorts of plaudits from the media for this.

00:06:56.460 But he's now like a big thing, I guess.

00:06:58.200 And so he did the weirdest version of a Buffalo Springfield song from 1966 written about the

00:07:03.300 Sunset Strip riots, which were essentially a bunch of young people who were too much of 0.99

00:07:07.560 a pain in the ass to go home at 10 o'clock at night and broke curfew and then rioted over 0.99

00:07:10.300 it. 0.99

00:07:10.620 And this was supposed to be the big uplift of the Democratic Party.

00:07:12.780 Like, why is it that Cory Booker doing bad comedy with Bernie Sanders was slightly more

00:07:17.860 entertaining than the people who are the professional?

00:07:19.800 They brought Sarah Cooper.

00:07:21.260 Like, who the hell is Sarah Cooper?

00:07:22.400 Why am I?

00:07:22.960 Why is Sarah Cooper lecturing me about voter fraud?

00:07:25.180 Like, this is the lady who just mouths words to Donald Trump and as on TikTok or something.

00:07:30.120 Why don't you get Tom Hanks?

00:07:31.060 Like, they used to bring Tom Hanks.

00:07:32.020 I want the old days when he used to be like a real cavalcade of stars.

00:07:34.580 Yeah, I absolutely.

00:07:36.100 I feel like they didn't bring their A game.

00:07:38.340 I mean, we've been saving the Klaben here for the last six months. 0.78

00:07:40.680 None of us have seen him seen him in person, much like Joe Biden.

00:07:43.740 He's been locked in a basement, not coming out.

00:07:46.580 But look at him.

00:07:47.160 He's beautiful.

00:07:47.520 Look at that frame.

00:07:48.380 He's got a beautiful, well-lit set there behind him.

00:07:51.460 He's looking good.

00:07:52.800 And a sense of humor.

00:07:53.860 And a sense of humor.

00:07:54.980 I actually.

00:07:55.760 And a pulse.

00:07:56.340 I actually just don't understand how they could have done such a bad job.

00:07:59.420 And unless it was on purpose.

00:08:01.120 And this is the idea that I wanted to throw out to you guys.

00:08:02.840 Was it actually deliberate to have it look as underground as it did?

00:08:08.880 Because it's their way of saying, we take COVID seriously.

00:08:12.160 We're the only ones who take it seriously.

00:08:14.140 We're so serious about it that we're willing to look bad.

00:08:16.860 In other words, is even that horrible production we just saw just a form of virtue signaling?

00:08:21.520 That might be.

00:08:22.000 That's actually a good theory.

00:08:23.240 It's a good theory.

00:08:23.680 Actually, I was wondering, there were times during this that I was wondering whether they

00:08:27.740 were actually trolling people.

00:08:29.480 I mean, Elizabeth Warren addressing the Native American people, you know, Bill Clinton, you

00:08:35.540 know, talking about how chaotic things were in the Oval Office.

00:08:40.720 Hillary Clinton still lamenting the fact that she was robbed.

00:08:44.360 They put Stacey Abrams on the governor's panel, which is the single greatest troll of all time.

00:08:48.420 That's so fantastic.

00:08:49.160 I truly thought that they're so confident, they are so confident that they have sold

00:08:55.100 us hatred of Donald Trump that they don't think they can lose.

00:08:58.260 I really do think that.

00:08:59.340 I think that they are beyond feeling that they are vulnerable.

00:09:03.640 They are putting up this guy who is just a full bodysuit disguise for the far left.

00:09:08.340 You know, that's all he is.

00:09:09.720 And Kamala Harris, whose history of corruption is so dense that if Trump wakes up and starts

00:09:16.040 going after her for that, he can talk forever about what she's done.

00:09:19.840 She is a corrupt public official, an actual, genuine, corrupt public official, the kind 1.00

00:09:25.340 we used to put in jail.

00:09:26.920 And they're so vulnerable, and yet they seem so confident.

00:09:30.060 It's worrying.

00:09:31.300 I think that our pals over at Reagan Battalion, this was sort of their take on it.

00:09:34.880 Every day they would tweet out the list of all the absurdities.

00:09:38.420 Bill Clinton talking about propriety in the Oval Office.

00:09:40.900 Barack Obama talking about love of constitutional protections and separation of powers.

00:09:46.120 Michelle Obama talking about deep love of the country.

00:09:50.180 You're right.

00:09:50.860 Maybe the whole thing is a troll.

00:09:52.760 It wouldn't be the first time that they thought they could not possibly lose to Donald Trump.

00:09:58.060 We'll talk a little bit more about all that.

00:09:59.800 Right now, though, I want to talk about our friends over at Stamps.com.

00:10:03.160 We've been telling you about Stamps.com for a long time here on the show.

00:10:06.280 And that's because we've been using Stamps.com for a long time here at The Daily Wire.

00:11:36.260 Type in Shapiro and get the special deal.

00:11:38.240 So we can talk about all of the things that they, all the things that were.

00:11:44.000 What's the thing you hated the most?

00:11:44.500 What's that?

00:11:44.960 What's the thing you hated the most?

00:11:45.960 The thing I hated the most about the DNC?

00:11:47.480 Well, all of it.

00:11:48.820 Watching it was awful.

00:11:49.900 I have to admit that the thing that I hated the most about the DNC was the speech by Barack Obama.

00:11:54.840 Yeah.

00:11:55.100 I can't tell you, first of all, how despicable I found his speech to be.

00:11:59.080 Obviously, it was a historic slamming, damming, jamming, I can't remember the Anderson Cooper stuff.

00:12:04.980 It was a very historic speech because we've never seen a former president get up and lay into a sitting successor in the way that Barack Obama did.

00:12:13.260 He's always seen himself as a historic figure and he proved it.

00:12:16.560 But I just have to be honest.

00:12:17.320 I've just been so glad over the last four years not to have to listen to that blowhard, the only guy in the history of the country to think that he was slumming in the presidency, to think that he was too good from the job from the minute that he got it.

00:12:29.700 He was the kind of guy who makes the ocean stop rising.

00:12:32.240 And then we made him go to work and put on a tie every day.

00:12:34.600 And I think he resented the country for it.

00:12:37.380 Hearing him back on the national stage, especially in such an ugly situation, I found it to be a love.

00:12:42.780 I totally agree with this.

00:12:43.720 I mean, the part about Barack Obama that I've always found the most disquieting is his ability and willingness to hijack America's founding documents and then pretend that he stands with those founding documents when in reality he stands against virtually every founding principle of the country because progressives have stood against those founding principles for the last 120 years.

00:13:02.940 Barack Obama does this routine.

00:13:04.200 I was hearing conservatives being like, well, wasn't it great that he was at least saying that while the Constitution had problems with it, at least we can have the mechanisms of the Constitution that still work.

00:13:12.100 And I kept saying to them, the principles of the Constitution, which are undergirded in the Declaration, are pretty specific, right?

00:13:18.340 Natural rights to the pre-exist government, a government instituted to protect those rights, a limited government of enumerated powers, checks and balances, right?

00:13:25.220 Those are the actual principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

00:13:28.900 Barack Obama reduced that while standing in this hall in honor of the American Revolution.

00:13:34.000 Let's let people see what he said.

00:13:34.500 Here's Barack Obama on the Constitution.

00:13:35.860 I'm in Philadelphia, where our Constitution was drafted and signed.

00:13:42.660 It wasn't a perfect document.

00:13:45.460 It allowed for the inhumanity of slavery and failed to guarantee women, and even men who didn't own property, the right to participate in the political process.

00:13:56.940 But embedded in this document was a North Star that would guide future generations, a system of representative government, a democracy through which we could better realize our highest ideals.

00:14:13.440 I'm sorry to interrupt just on this, but I have to correct the record.

00:14:16.940 What he said is not true.

00:14:18.740 This idea, first of all, that obviously women did not vote in large numbers at the time that the Constitution was ratified. 0.99

00:14:24.020 But some women did. 1.00

00:14:24.800 In the state of New Jersey, women did vote.

00:14:26.680 This idea about slavery that the framers of our country decided, OK, well, we'll let the slavery question pass to another day.

00:14:33.660 This was an extraordinarily hot topic at the Constitutional Convention.

00:14:36.820 They did more to guarantee the end of slavery than anybody else had done in the Western world.

00:14:42.540 And what was the alternative to allow there not to be any union?

00:14:45.500 And then you have no way to abolish slavery.

00:14:47.120 It's just just on the factual points.

00:14:48.980 He's wrong.

00:14:49.980 But the part of it that's really despicable, and this is what he's been doing for years.

00:14:53.460 He did in his second inaugural.

00:14:54.580 And I was the only person who got really irritated by this.

00:14:56.700 He would cite the Declaration of Independence.

00:14:58.420 And then he would say things like, but we don't all have to have the same definition of liberty, which is exactly what is at the heart of the Declaration of Independence, is that we do have the same definition.

00:15:05.720 In fact, that's the only thing we basically have to agree on.

00:15:08.860 Here, he says that what the Constitution boils down to is not equal protection before the law.

00:15:13.340 It is not individual rights that pre-exist governments.

00:15:15.400 It is not that all men are created equal.

00:15:17.140 It's none of those things.

00:15:18.200 It's simply voting, right?

00:15:19.660 It's representative government.

00:15:20.620 And when he says representative government, he doesn't mean checks and balances.

00:15:22.860 He doesn't like any of those checks and balances.

00:15:24.280 He's come out against the filibuster.

00:15:25.940 He's in favor of adding Puerto Rico and D.C. as states with pure majoritarian representation, right, just to stack the United States Senate.

00:15:34.840 He's in favor of stacking the courts.

00:15:36.660 He has said this openly.

00:15:37.820 I mean, this is not a person who believes in any of the actual principles of the Constitution.

00:15:41.420 The founders were not pure mob rule majoritarians by any stretch of the imagination, which is why what makes the beauty of the Constitution is that it protects minority rights.

00:15:49.640 I mean, that's the whole point.

00:15:50.980 He actually said he actually said that the people demonstrating in Portland and on the streets were the dream fulfilled of the Constitution, when in fact they were the nightmare, the actual nightmare of the founders was that that kind of representative democracy would lead to mob rule.

00:16:05.100 So everything is it actually was like opposite day.

00:16:08.060 And it was very disturbing to see.

00:16:10.080 And again, very disturbing to me to watch the press, which used to be a good institution in this country to watch the press just absolutely go right back into their what I call their O face.

00:16:20.180 Now they're going back right into their O face, you know, just loving in ecstasy at this president. 0.79

00:16:25.020 And it just reminds you again that it's not the way they cover Donald Trump that's so disgusting, though it is even Trump, who deserves some of it. 0.99

00:16:33.260 It is disgusting. 0.97

00:16:34.160 But it's the way they cover Obama and then cover Trump.

00:16:37.280 And before the way that they cover Barack Obama destroyed the media in America.

00:16:41.600 Yeah, that's actually his most lasting contribution as president.

00:16:44.520 He came along.

00:16:45.700 And because of the unique superficial aspects, this is the amazing thing about it.

00:16:50.140 It isn't the deeper things about Barack Obama.

00:16:52.020 It's purely the superficial ones created an environment where the press could not in any way be critical of him.

00:16:59.380 Yeah, he he he was almost like you couldn't construct a better figure to be immune from any sort of criticism from the press.

00:17:07.660 And so after eight years of that, they have no credibility left.

00:17:11.660 Right. And you could almost say that in their attacks on Trump, they're trying to overcompensate to show that, no, we are still a vibrant old, you know, speak institution that speaks truth.

00:17:21.520 It's a power. But democracy dies in darkness and democracy dies in darkness.

00:17:25.320 But it is true that the the orgasmic level of coverage, the journalismic, you know, journalism is just getting everywhere.

00:17:30.920 Well, it was it was really sticky and awful.

00:17:32.880 The fact that they were journalism all over the place the way that they were after after Obama's speech, it was it was really disturbing.

00:17:39.640 And there's something that Obama does.

00:17:41.320 And it's clever. But Democrats have been doing it for 60 years.

00:17:44.180 And that is this inside outside game where they say democracy works when we win.

00:17:47.920 When we lose, democracy isn't working. So you need to get out in the streets.

00:17:50.760 And that's what he did during the speech. He said the protesters are democracy fulfilled.

00:17:54.160 But I'm here to tell you that the system of democracy does work.

00:17:57.320 So if you vote and you elect people like us, then we will do the work for you.

00:18:00.920 OK, what that really is, is to all Americans who are not voting for Democrats, that is tacit blackmail.

00:18:04.680 That is, if you do not vote for us, we will allow these riots and looting and all of this stuff, which, by the way, eight hours of coverage in prime time.

00:18:11.040 Not a single mention of a riot, not a single mention of looting, not a single mention of property destruction.

00:18:15.180 By the way, not a single mention of Chinese repression or Chinese aggression, not a single mention of Iran, not a single mention of any of these things.

00:18:22.040 Right. It's just hunky dory out there. Apparently, we're particularly in protest land.

00:18:25.540 But there actually was a reference to Iran. Was it there?

00:18:27.720 If we elect Joe Biden, we're going to be back in the Iran deal, which is really exciting, really exciting.

00:18:32.300 I actually want to talk about, Ben, what you just brought up.

00:18:36.500 Is it the case that the argument that the Democrats are making is vote for us and maybe we'll stop burning down your cities?

00:18:43.020 Is it really the case that they're saying vote for us and maybe you'll get to go back to work and have a job again?

00:18:48.300 Is it blackmail?

00:18:49.520 I've always noticed when they say when they say these riots are mostly peaceful, I immediately think of the mafia protection rackets.

00:18:56.420 You know, they see they didn't they didn't blow up my store. They're mostly peaceful.

00:18:59.480 And that is effectively what they're saying. And it even goes deeper than that, because in frequently in tyrannical countries, there's not a lot of crime in the street.

00:19:09.380 The repression is so tough that the crime that people are afraid, you know, because you get executed or whipped or whatever if you commit a minor crime.

00:19:16.080 So there's not a lot of crime in the streets. But all that crime is sucked into the government.

00:19:20.140 The government are the ones who are committing the crimes against liberty and against people.

00:19:23.660 And that's what they're essentially saying. We'll stop rioting in the streets.

00:19:27.100 But the the goals of the rioters, which are anti-American per se, will infest our government.

00:19:33.240 By the way, on the lockdown point that you're making, this is 100 percent true.

00:19:35.940 I mean, you could they featured Andrew Cuomo, who killed 11000 nursing home patients. Right.

00:19:40.080 They featured Andrew Cuomo, who has a new book called American Crisis Leadership During COVID-19.

00:19:45.240 He's the worst governor in America.

00:19:46.440 Leading them right into the nursing home.

00:19:47.540 I mean, they should have called the book If I Did It. Right.

00:19:50.140 If I Did It by Andrew Cuomo, because that is so unbelievably astonishing.

00:19:55.080 But I mean, I was pointing out there are certain things that people just stopped looking at.

00:19:58.380 New York State had yesterday a grand total of, I believe, seven deaths.

00:20:02.360 New Jersey, the entire state had a grand total of eight deaths yesterday from COVID.

00:20:06.100 Not that they occurred yesterday, that were reported yesterday, which probably means that it's lower than seven or eight deaths in those states.

00:20:11.580 Manhattan had zero deaths and 64 total diagnosed cases of COVID-19.

00:20:16.200 And they're not reopening anything.

00:20:17.200 Of course.

00:20:17.920 So now now there's no way to argue that's not political because they're like the metric doesn't exist by which you cannot open under these circumstances.

00:20:24.340 That's crazy.

00:20:25.120 But it's like New Zealand.

00:20:26.380 There's no argument going on anymore.

00:20:28.480 You know, it's to this point on democracy.

00:20:30.500 Is it really democracy if there's only one choice?

00:20:33.300 Because that's what they're telling you.

00:20:34.300 This is democracy and there's only one choice.

00:20:36.180 And if you don't vote for that choice, it's not democracy.

00:20:38.440 And this is an argument that the progressives have been making at least since Woodrow Wilson,

00:20:42.640 which is that it's all well and good and wonderful and American as long as you vote for us.

00:20:46.380 But there is an end of history.

00:20:47.940 There is a progressive utopia.

00:20:49.140 We're going there. 1.00

00:20:49.840 And if you stand in the way, you're evil in some way or you're extremely stupid. 1.00

00:20:53.100 It's why Barack Obama, contrary to the very popular belief, is not a good orator. 1.00

00:20:58.880 I know that.

00:20:59.360 I know if you listen to the mainstream media, Ryan Lizza, the left-wing journalist, said

00:21:02.820 it was the greatest convention speech just after his previous convention speech, which

00:21:07.580 was the best.

00:21:08.500 He had to take a cold shower after the speech.

00:21:09.960 I know he did.

00:21:10.640 He had to go log off Twitter because he's not a good orator.

00:21:14.080 Barack Obama has given like one and a half good speeches.

00:21:16.260 His concession in New Hampshire was pretty good.

00:21:18.080 The rest are not that good.

00:21:19.080 Think of that first convention speech.

00:21:21.360 He said, there's not a red America. 0.58

00:21:23.420 There's not a blue America.

00:21:24.500 There's the United States of America.

00:21:25.820 Wow, Pericles, Abraham Lincoln, incredible.

00:21:29.040 He just utters these platitudes because he and the whole Democratic Party believe that

00:21:33.880 they are on the correct path of history, Ben, to use your phrase, the right side of history.

00:21:37.820 It's going to end up there.

00:21:39.220 And they don't need to make arguments.

00:21:40.480 Compare that to the oratory of Lincoln, our actual greatest orator.

00:21:43.380 He was making extraordinarily dense, cogent arguments, logical arguments.

00:21:48.020 The left feels they don't need to make those arguments because they've taken authentic

00:21:51.420 politics out from us.

00:21:53.320 We no longer have that debate.

00:21:54.660 They just have to win.

00:21:55.820 And without journalism, you know, without journalism, there's no one to talk about what

00:22:00.480 is not being said.

00:22:01.820 So, for instance, Michelle Obama mentioned what a great job Joe Biden did during the Ebola

00:22:06.820 crisis.

00:22:08.260 But Ebola is not a disease that spreads very easily during the H1N1 pandemic or the flu,

00:22:15.400 that flu.

00:22:16.100 That was a complete foul up by that administration.

00:22:18.840 If that had been as if that had been as bad as COVID-19, it would have been an absolute

00:22:25.040 slaughter.

00:22:26.000 Millions of people literally would have died by their own admission, by the admission of

00:22:30.060 the people in the administration at the time.

00:22:32.280 They said they said, we screwed this up.

00:22:34.300 It was just luck that we got away with this the way we did.

00:22:37.780 And so, you know, that's the kind of thing that I think a journalist should reference.

00:22:41.440 A journalist on both sides, they should do it to Trump.

00:22:43.820 They should do it to the DNC.

00:22:45.820 But when you only have them like clutching their chests and rolling their eyes at how

00:22:49.680 beautiful it is, you really are cheating the public of a fair look.

00:22:54.280 It doesn't bother me that politicians lie.

00:22:56.720 That's part of their job.

00:22:57.660 It doesn't bother me that they support their team over the other team.

00:23:00.240 That's part of their job.

00:23:01.060 It really bothers me that the refs are bought off.

00:23:03.660 I mean, the referees, the journalists who are supposed to be the referees at some level

00:23:07.180 have been paid off.

00:23:08.700 And that's because you don't understand what the media is for, Drew.

00:23:11.040 I know.

00:23:11.960 So I want to tell you guys about my second least favorite moment that happened in the

00:23:16.720 convention.

00:23:17.040 But first, I want to talk about our friends at Policy Genius.

00:23:19.500 I've been telling you guys now for a couple of months about my own personal experience of

00:23:23.220 getting a life insurance policy for first for myself and then a policy for Mrs.

00:23:27.980 Boring from Policy Genius.

00:23:29.260 Both of those have been accomplished.

00:23:30.660 If you haven't already gotten your policy, what you're waiting for, you need life insurance

00:23:34.800 policy, especially if you find yourself in a position of responsibility for other people,

00:23:38.980 for a family, for children, then you want to take care of them.

00:23:41.760 The way that you do that, especially with things as difficult as they are in the world

00:23:45.000 today, is with a life insurance policy.

00:23:47.200 And there is no better place to get it than Policy Genius.

00:23:49.780 Look, I tried other places.

00:23:51.620 I actually tried other places just as a control in the experiment to see if Policy Genius was as

00:23:57.120 good as they say they are.

00:23:58.000 I went to some other websites and tried it out to see what they would give us.

00:24:00.960 And the answer is yes.

00:24:02.080 Policy Genius is as good as they say.

00:24:04.020 It is as convenient as they say.

00:24:06.000 It couldn't be faster.

00:24:06.920 It couldn't be easier.

00:24:07.780 And it couldn't be more important.

00:24:08.880 Right now, you could save $1,500 or more every year by using Policy Genius to compare

00:24:13.960 life insurance policies from a variety of servers.

00:24:16.640 When you're shopping for a policy that could last for a decade or more, those savings really

00:24:20.640 start to add up.

00:24:21.360 People ask me, what is Policy Genius?

00:24:23.780 Well, basically, it's an insurance marketplace.

00:24:25.860 It's built and backed by a team of industry experts.

00:24:28.200 And here's how it works.

00:24:29.140 Step one, you head over to policygenius.com.

00:24:31.460 In just minutes, you can work out how much coverage you need and compare quotes from top

00:24:35.040 insurers to find the best price.

00:24:37.040 Step two, you apply for the lowest price.

00:24:39.600 Even I could figure it out.

00:24:40.580 They stacked up all the different prices.

00:24:43.120 And I was able to, with this brain of mine, pick the lowest one and click on it.

00:24:48.880 Step three, the Policy Genius team handles all the paperwork and all of the red tape.

00:24:53.740 They even scheduled, in my case, someone to come over, even in the era of COVID, to come

00:24:57.500 by the office and do the physical that I needed for my policy.

00:25:00.820 They did all the work, not the insurance company.

00:25:03.200 I actually hit a few snags.

00:25:04.320 I needed to reschedule.

00:25:05.220 I didn't have to call the medical practitioner.

00:25:07.460 I had to call Policy Genius.

00:25:08.680 They handled everything.

00:25:10.080 They even have policies which allow eligible customers to skip all of that hassle, like the

00:25:14.600 medical exam, and do it over the phone.

00:25:16.920 That kind of service has earned Policy Genius a five-star rating across 1,600 reviews on

00:25:21.800 Trustpilot and Google.

00:25:23.140 But you don't need those reviews, because I just gave you the best review.

00:25:25.780 I used it.

00:25:26.380 It worked.

00:25:26.860 I used it for my wife. 0.87

00:25:27.840 It worked for her.

00:25:29.040 Even Ben Shapiro used it.

00:25:30.360 That's the soft sell, the hard sell. 0.52

00:25:32.040 You're going to die. 0.74

00:25:32.940 I'm sorry to tell you this. 0.99

00:25:34.060 It may not happen today.

00:25:35.480 Maybe not today.

00:25:36.440 Maybe not tomorrow.

00:25:37.240 But soon, and for the rest of your life.

00:25:38.940 And this is why you need to head on over to Policy Genius right now and get started.

00:25:43.080 You could save $1,500 or more a year by comparing quotes on their marketplace, Policy Genius.

00:25:47.020 When it comes to insurance, it is nice and very important to get it right.

00:25:50.080 Go check out policygenius.com right now.

00:25:53.540 So I want to tell you about my second favorite moment, my second least favorite.

00:25:57.120 I guess it's my favorite because I enjoy being angry at the DNC.

00:26:00.680 We have a clip of it.

00:26:01.740 It's clip number five.

00:26:02.500 And this is, you know, Andrew Cuomo comes out and he says one of the craziest lines of the whole convention.

00:26:09.480 He said that COVID-19 is a symptom.

00:26:12.340 It's not the disease.

00:26:13.500 It's like, speaking like that, it gets every old person in a city. 0.99

00:26:16.960 He called it a metaphor.

00:26:18.100 He called it a metaphor.

00:26:18.840 He called it a metaphor.

00:26:19.400 He called it a metaphor.

00:26:19.900 And I like to think of it was the old Jack Handy joke, right?

00:26:21.920 That my grandmother used to say that laughter was the best medicine, which is why seven of us died of dysentery.

00:26:25.620 But my least favorite moment was actually, and I know that we're supposed to be very sensitive to these sorts of issues.

00:26:34.540 But when they trotted out the daughter of a Trump supporter who died of COVID-19, I think we have the clip.

00:26:40.680 And then I'm going to tell you everything that's wrong with it.

00:26:42.160 Let's run the clip.

00:26:44.260 My dad, Mark Anthony Urquiza, should be here today, but he isn't.

00:26:50.880 He had faith in Donald Trump.

00:26:53.360 He voted for him, listened to him, believed him and his mouthpieces when they said that coronavirus was under control and going to disappear.

00:27:03.720 That it was okay to end social distancing rules before it was safe.

00:27:07.900 And that if you had no underlying health conditions, you'd probably be fine.

00:27:11.960 My dad was a healthy 65-year-old.

00:27:15.020 His only pre-existing condition was trusting Donald Trump.

00:27:19.280 And for that, he paid with his life.

00:27:23.360 So I'm sorry, this is the most despicable thing that I've ever seen in American politics.

00:27:27.660 First of all, this Kristen Urquiza, terrible that her father died.

00:27:31.740 But this is egregious behavior on her part. 0.97

00:27:36.080 She is essentially telling you that her father is a rube who deserved what he got. 0.99

00:27:40.300 He deserved to die because he backed a politician that she doesn't like. 0.98

00:27:43.840 But the fact that the Democrats would trot her out like this and let her make this kind of statement on national television is despicable.

00:27:51.220 And can we please one time have a DNC where they don't actually accuse the Republican candidate of murder?

00:27:58.600 I mean, how many in a row is this where they say literally someone comes out and says death follows this person being elected president?

00:28:05.240 Everything about this is terrible.

00:28:07.740 And I know we're not supposed to talk bad about someone like Kristen Urquiza because she went through a tragedy.

00:28:11.560 What she did there is despicable.

00:28:12.820 And the only excuse is grief, even though she actually demonstrates no grief in the clip.

00:28:17.700 The only grief she actually talks about is having the sads that her dad was apparently wrong about Orange Man bad.

00:28:24.800 I thought that this was as low as it gets.

00:28:26.780 Yeah. I mean, I hope that, you know, I'll say that I think that maybe she's coming from like an actual genuine place of grief and this is all misguided, but it was insane.

00:28:34.600 It was insane.

00:28:35.580 I mean, first of all, the suggestion seems to be that if you didn't believe Donald Trump, you lived, which is a real hot take.

00:28:41.320 I mean, 33,000 people died in New York.

00:28:43.200 Last I checked, he didn't win New York and then another 16,000 or so died in New Jersey and he didn't win New Jersey.

00:28:48.800 And then another 10,000 or so died in Massachusetts and win Massachusetts.

00:28:51.800 Turns out a lot of people died, mostly in major cities that are blue.

00:28:53.980 So if we're going to go with like how people voted, dictated whether they died of COVID, then I have a feeling that's not going to go fantastically well.

00:29:01.040 But that that that basic notion that she puts out there, like, as you say, the only way that this makes any logical sense is if what she's basically saying is my dad drank the fish tank cleaner.

00:29:09.500 Right. Which it's like that story that they tried to try it out at the very beginning when Trump was like, you should try hydroxychloroquine.

00:29:14.080 And then that woman and then a woman murdered her husband, probably allegedly murdered her husband by feeding him the fish tank cleaner and being like, Donald Trump told me that my husband should take this.

00:29:24.100 Cyanide. I can't believe Donald Trump killed my husband. Also, I took out a life insurance policy one day before. 0.71

00:29:29.840 But Donald Trump told me to do that. Like it was it was sort of like that.

00:29:33.040 It is. You're right. They've been doing this now for like several conventions in a row.

00:29:36.960 In 2004, it's all about Bush in Iraq. And then it was about and then it was about Romney being a terrible, terrible person who killed a woman of cancer.

00:29:44.420 Yeah, that's right. By by by Bain Capital buying out a business and restructuring it or something.

00:29:48.260 So this is it's nothing new, but it was the blaming of covid, like the willingness by every single politician in America, apparently to blame Donald Trump for the ravages of covid.

00:29:57.420 Biden did it himself, too. When Biden was pledging, well, I'm going to end.

00:30:00.380 By the way, Biden's list of promises pretty extensive. He promises to stop every threat seen and unseen.

00:30:05.780 Yeah, let's play that clip because it really is just jaw dropping.

00:30:09.940 Here's here's Joe Biden being alive.

00:30:13.700 Our current president has failed in his most basic duty to the nation.

00:30:19.580 He's failed to protect us. He's failed to protect America.

00:30:24.540 And my fellow Americans, that is unforgivable.

00:30:29.260 As president, I'll make you a promise.

00:30:31.260 I'll protect America. I will defend us from every attack, seen and unseen, always, without exception, every time.

00:30:41.080 Wow. Also, he pledges never to give you up, never to let you down, not to run around and desert you.

00:30:46.680 He will never make you cry. He'll never say goodbye.

00:30:49.540 He'll never tell a lie or hurt you.

00:30:50.940 Well, did you see here what Joe Biden left out of that speech is what he said at the beginning of covid,

00:30:56.580 which is that we shouldn't shut down travel from China.

00:30:58.640 He called Trump's travel ban hysterical xenophobia, to use his words.

00:31:02.800 And I think so there's this this kind of formal aspect of why it was so wrong to launch this attack.

00:31:06.620 There's also the substance, though.

00:31:07.980 All these Democratic politicians handled covid way worse than Donald Trump and Andrew Cuomo.

00:31:13.600 His policies are directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of elderly New Yorkers.

00:31:18.680 Nancy Pelosi. That's just a metaphor. 1.00

00:31:20.680 It's a metaphor. How bad Andrew Cuomo is at his job.

00:31:23.020 You're right. You make that good point.

00:31:24.200 When was Nancy Pelosi going to say, hey, come on down to Chinatown like she did without a mask, no social distancing at the start of covid? 0.90

00:31:31.420 I guess what what they're banking on is what we've been talking about all night, which is that the press are going to fawn over them.

00:31:36.220 They're not going to call them out for any of this. And it's a it's a total fan.

00:31:38.960 This brings me to my theory on how Donald Trump could be guaranteed to win the election.

00:31:43.820 You guys want to hear it? I want to hear it.

00:31:44.980 Yeah. Donald Trump gets eight primetime hours next week for the RNC.

00:31:49.500 If the RNC had been first before the DNC, my strategy would not work because I actually think the media would just not play it since they played all eight hours in primetime of the DNC.

00:32:00.360 They have to play the RNC. I think that they should put two giant screens up and no matter who is speaking during the national anthem, during the benediction, during the president's speech, during the vice president's speech, the entire time they should be playing footage of the riots in Portland and the riots in Seattle and the Chaz zone and all the violence that's happening all across this country.

00:32:22.340 Because the media will not tell people the truth about these protests when he's tried this trick before.

00:32:28.440 They actually have pulled even Fox News shut down the feed so that you couldn't see it.

00:32:32.620 They can't do that with the actual Republican National Convention.

00:32:35.820 And if they do, they give him the presidency again just by.

00:32:39.180 So dare them. He should run it for all eight hours, even when he's not talking about it and dare them not to play it.

00:32:45.000 Because here's my theory.

00:32:46.500 People actually vote, and in particular, suburban housewives vote on the basis of how a candidate makes them feel. 0.98

00:32:54.120 In the case of George W. Bush, he made them feel safe, as opposed to John Kerry, who seemed inconsistent.

00:32:59.400 Flip-flop, flip-flop.

00:33:00.540 You remember this? It was a great way of framing John Kerry vis-a-vis George W. Bush, because one makes you feel safe and the other makes you feel insecure.

00:33:08.200 In the case of Barack Obama, Barack Obama made people feel noble and virtuous, and they were able to feel good about themselves when they voted for him.

00:33:16.760 Donald Trump made people feel empowered in 2016.

00:33:20.520 He made people feel like they could have a voice when they hadn't had one before.

00:33:24.160 But his behavior since then makes people feel insecure because he's bombastic, because he's boorish.

00:33:30.120 He makes you a little embarrassed.

00:33:31.980 Even people who are going to vote for him, often they'll say,

00:33:34.320 I hate that I have to vote for him, but look at the other guy.

00:33:36.680 That means there's a whole other range of people who won't vote for him, who have that exact same sentiment, but are just breaking the other way.

00:33:44.000 He has to not let this be a referendum on Donald Trump.

00:33:46.940 If it's a referendum on Donald Trump, Donald Trump will lose.

00:33:49.500 He needs to make it a referendum on the left.

00:33:51.520 They've overplayed their hand.

00:33:53.700 The president's job for the next two months, and especially next week, should be to use the power of his pulpit to shine a light on what the Democrats are actually doing.

00:34:02.820 You don't have to know what they will do when they win.

00:34:04.640 They're doing stuff right now, and every bit of it is bad.

00:34:07.340 If you could put a camera in the morgues in New York City, I'd say you should do that, but that's not the way that the world works.

00:34:14.360 So he should instead focus in on these riots and let people know you should feel worse.

00:34:19.280 This is what the Democrats are banking on.

00:34:20.740 Basically, Ben, you made this point.

00:34:22.920 They offered no affirmative message at their convention.

00:34:25.420 Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were actually afterthoughts, to use your language, Ben.

00:34:30.880 It was all about orange man bad, orange man bad.

00:34:33.740 Donald Trump needs to actually invert that and say, yeah, it's actually, it's not about me either.

00:34:38.260 It is actually about them.

00:34:40.040 They are worse.

00:34:41.200 You know, we have friends in the sort of never Trump movement who basically they're going to support Joe Biden for the presidency.

00:34:48.960 And when I listen to their arguments, the arguments all come back to Donald Trump is such a threat to our societal norms that even though we like his policies better, like every one of them is more happy that we have Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court justice than they would be to have another Sotomayor, for example, on the court.

00:35:09.320 Every one of them is pro-life.

00:35:10.780 Every one of them wants lower taxes.

00:35:12.200 But what they're basically saying is none of our policy preferences matter compared to the damage that Donald Trump does to our actual societal norms.

00:35:20.500 And my response is the Democrats are running communist riots in major American cities, burning things to the ground.

00:35:27.540 They've broken the economy.

00:35:28.820 They've shut down churches.

00:35:30.360 They've shut down all social interactions.

00:35:32.860 They're openly against free, not just the First Amendment, but every aspect of the First Amendment.

00:35:36.840 They're against free exercise.

00:35:38.260 They're against free assembly unless your Black Lives Matter. 1.00

00:35:40.580 They're against free speech unless you're saying the things that they have approved of.

00:35:45.560 They're against the Second Amendment.

00:35:46.840 They're against due process.

00:35:48.100 They're actually saying that due process is a white supremacist institution.

00:35:55.200 They're against trial by jury.

00:35:56.940 You'll get accused of a sexual assault on any American college campus and raise the idea that you're entitled to a trial by a jury of your peers.

00:36:04.920 They're against the Electoral College.

00:36:06.420 They're against every piece of the actual framework of our society.

00:36:11.040 Listen, is Donald Trump a threat to some of our societal norms?

00:36:14.880 Yeah, I think he is.

00:36:16.040 But he's the lesser threat to our societal norms.

00:36:19.060 The Democrats are violently opposed to our, and I use violence as a literal term, violently opposed to our societal norms.

00:36:25.680 And the president has the power to force the media to cover that next week.

00:36:29.880 And he would do a far better job doing that than getting up there and doing his usual Donald Trump.

00:36:34.120 They don't like me.

00:36:35.220 You know, the nice thing about conspiracy theorists is they do like me.

00:36:38.220 Stop that.

00:36:39.440 Talk about the actual threat that the left.

00:36:41.040 But it could be.

00:36:41.720 I just I agree with everything you've said.

00:36:43.400 But it could be a yes.

00:36:44.500 And right.

00:36:45.140 It could be.

00:36:45.540 I agree with that.

00:36:46.420 Yeah, that's that's just what I was.

00:36:47.920 I was going to say that because, you know, the one thing he's been doing lately.

00:36:50.860 And again, this is something I advised him to do.

00:36:53.500 He's listened to all my advice and turned his campaign around, in my opinion.

00:36:57.120 But the thing is, I think I think your idea about playing the riots.

00:37:00.460 Absolutely great idea.

00:37:01.580 That's that is absolutely true.

00:37:02.780 He should also play Joe Biden's list of things he would have done if he had been handling the Chinese flu, because Trump has done them all.

00:37:11.220 Every single thing that he said he was going to do, Trump has already done.

00:37:13.920 And I think that one of the jokes he's been making recently is people.

00:37:18.900 Some people don't like me.

00:37:20.100 Maybe it's my personality.

00:37:21.300 The other day he said it even funnier.

00:37:23.100 He said some people don't like me.

00:37:24.180 I don't know what it is.

00:37:24.900 It couldn't be my personality.

00:37:26.420 And I think that I think that that is a really good line, because, first of all, you know, he does need to appeal to women.

00:37:32.840 Women get that with men. 1.00

00:37:34.600 Sometimes men are never like they never like us.

00:37:37.740 Who would?

00:37:38.500 I mean, come on.

00:37:39.060 Who would?

00:37:39.480 You know, they have good taste.

00:37:40.520 And I just think that it is a good argument that, like, I do the right thing.

00:37:44.440 And, yeah, I'm bumptious.

00:37:45.740 You know, that's that's that's the way it is.

00:37:47.640 If Trump has the discipline, if the DNC, if the RNC has the discipline to do it, it could be a true turnaround thing.

00:37:53.980 Speaking of women, Alicia, let's talk to the one that we have via satellite. 1.00

00:37:59.640 Hey, guys, I just want to remind everyone watching that we are going to be having an all access live after the show with Jeremy, Ben, Michael, me, the woman and Drew, who, believe it or not, is younger than Joe Biden.

00:38:11.380 So the thing is, you have to be an all access member to talk with us.

00:38:14.580 If you are a member, be sure to click the link in the description wherever you're watching this.

00:38:18.300 Once the show ends to join in on the discussion and we have a limited time offer because all good sales are very limited going on right now.

00:38:25.500 So you can participate, become a Daily Wire all access member for 20 percent off with the coupon code access to join the fun.

00:38:32.840 If you don't know how to spell access, I'll spell it out for you.

00:38:35.000 A C C E S S. 1.00

00:38:36.580 That's for all of you distance learning public schoolers out there who weren't taught properly.

00:38:39.960 And a bunch of comments are actually coming through already.

00:38:43.220 VW says, hey, everyone, thank you for going through the torture of watching the DNC so we could be spared.

00:38:48.780 You are so selfless.

00:38:50.480 HT says, wants to know if we made Matt watch the DNC because he's being punished for not coming on backstage ever.

00:38:56.820 And KB says that Cory Booker's fake laugh is the stuff of nightmares.

00:39:02.080 But I actually think it might be worse than Kamala's.

00:39:05.360 I don't know.

00:39:05.900 That's not a possible thing.

00:39:07.000 That's not a possible thing.

00:39:08.200 There isn't there's nothing on planet Earth that is as horrifying as Kamala Harris's fake laugh when asked an awkward question.

00:39:14.840 I mean, it's a debate.

00:39:15.880 Kamala Harris Hillary.

00:39:17.260 A debate.

00:39:17.800 It's a debate.

00:39:18.720 A debate.

00:39:19.940 That's an that's an amazing line when she said that. 0.91

00:39:22.520 And it's like, yes, I'm a liar.

00:39:26.360 So the guys already want to talk about this.

00:39:28.320 So maybe we'll talk about this and much more during the all access discussion after the show.

00:39:33.100 Thank you, Alicia.

00:39:34.800 Hey, guys, why don't you have a ring?

00:39:36.140 I mean, we've been telling you about ring now at this company for four years.

00:39:39.540 If you don't have a ring, if you like it, you better put a ring on it.

00:39:42.280 If you like it, you better put a ring on it.

00:39:44.600 You got to get a ring.

00:39:45.460 It's the only way to keep your safe house to keep your house safe and to keep an eye on your house when you're not there to see those packages that are being left and stolen.

00:39:52.700 It's a huge problem happening in Los Angeles right now is that I think our buddy Dave Rubin keeps actually releasing videos from his ring camera of people stealing his mail.

00:40:02.060 We live in these strange times where we go out less and we order a lot more on the Internet.

00:40:06.720 And, you know, there are people who are up to no good.

00:40:09.080 They've realized they've changed their behavior, too.

00:40:11.200 And they camp out waiting for the UPS guy to walk down the street and they follow right behind him and steal your stuff.

00:40:16.620 With Ring, you get the kind of security that you need.

00:40:19.880 They have products for every corner of your home inside and out.

00:40:23.140 Best of all, you can see it all on one simple app.

00:40:25.460 With Ring, you can keep an eye on your home no matter where you are right from your phone.

00:40:28.680 If someone stops by, if something's going on, Ring lets you know.

00:40:31.980 It's peace of mind any time knowing that your home is protected.

00:40:35.640 They're defunding the police.

00:40:36.860 They're emptying the jails.

00:40:38.060 You've got valuable things sitting in front of your house on the stoop.

00:40:40.660 You need to get Ring.

00:40:42.240 Every one of us here at The Daily Wire uses Ring and every one of us here at The Daily Wire feels safer as a result.

00:40:47.580 The first adapter, of course, because he could afford things back when the rest of us were poor.

00:40:51.380 We're just shoveling every dollar that came into the company over to Ben with our muscles and backs.

00:40:58.440 We have no muscles anymore because we got rich, too.

00:41:00.480 But Ben was the first one to buy Ring, and he's been protecting his house with it these last five years.

00:41:05.800 Indeed.

00:41:06.280 And now I'm both safe and wealthy.

00:41:07.900 So go check out Ring.com.

00:41:09.600 Get a special offer on the Ring Welcome Kit at Ring.com slash backstage.

00:41:13.160 It comes with Ring Video Doorbell 3 and Chime Pro, the perfect way to start your Ring experience, plus free two-day shipping.

00:41:17.800 Go to Ring.com slash backstage.

00:41:20.080 Once again, that is Ring.com slash backstage for the special offer on the Ring Welcome Kit, Ring.com slash backstage.

00:41:26.260 So we've talked about all the things we hated about the convention.

00:41:29.340 Now I want to tell you what I actually did like about it.

00:41:31.980 I love this in politics.

00:41:35.280 I thought our side was always guilty of it.

00:41:37.000 I didn't know that their side could be much, much worse.

00:41:40.160 I love it when people in politics talk about the ute.

00:41:43.980 They love to talk about the ute.

00:41:46.980 The ute are the future.

00:41:48.260 You know, Barack Obama had this whole line in there.

00:41:50.780 To the young people who've been burning down our cities, beating people in the head with bricks and smashing windows, you are democracy in action.

00:41:58.520 You are the future.

00:42:00.240 You're better than any of the young people who ever went before you because you're still young and they all got old.

00:42:05.220 Every one of them now is old.

00:42:06.960 And they had to be convinced not to be racist.

00:42:08.800 But you weren't racist from day one.

00:42:10.580 You're the best ute ever to ute.

00:42:12.120 And then they gave Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 60 seconds to talk at the DNC. 0.82

00:42:21.660 And this is what politicians always do.

00:42:23.900 They pay lip service to young people because they know that young people are rubes. 0.99

00:42:28.300 And they also know that the young people won't actually turn out to vote.

00:42:31.340 Then when it comes to actually entrusting anything to young people, they basically say, put a couple flags behind her and let her talk for 60 seconds.

00:42:37.940 I think we actually, here's what she had to say.

00:42:39.460 Infidelity and gratitude to a mass people's movement working to establish 21st century social, economic, and human rights, including guaranteed health care, higher education, living wages, and labor rights for all people in the United States.

00:42:58.800 A movement striving to recognize and repair the wounds of racial injustice, colonization, misogyny, and homophobia.

00:43:08.740 That clip is going to play on a loop at the gulag, and it will be the last sound you ever hear.

00:43:13.760 I've got to say, I said before I didn't think Sarah Cooper was funny, but she is. 0.97

00:43:17.500 She's hilarious.

00:43:18.120 She's great.

00:43:18.800 That was hilarious.

00:43:19.540 Wait.

00:43:20.180 Oh.

00:43:20.660 Oh.

00:43:21.600 The pinball machine of crazy leftist terminology right there, it's spectacular.

00:43:26.140 It was just lighting up nonstop there.

00:43:28.540 In one go, she nails racial injustice, misogyny, homophobia, colonization.

00:43:33.760 It's like she's a little late on the colonization bandwagon, I feel like.

00:43:36.880 I hear that argument being made during the Mexican-American war, but I feel like right now-

00:43:41.200 He wasn't the only person to bring up colonization.

00:43:44.680 There was a clip a little bit earlier, clip number two.

00:43:47.260 This is remarkable.

00:43:48.340 This is actually someone saying what the Democrat Party supports.

00:43:51.740 This is the thesis statement of the 2020 Democrats.

00:43:55.360 This is from the Youth Council.

00:43:56.460 This future that we all want, that we're all trying to build, really is about the destruction

00:44:04.360 of colonization, white supremacy, and capitalism.

00:44:09.080 We must really move away from these systems and these frameworks if we really want to live

00:44:15.960 in a future that does have a regenerative economy and does enable liberation and equity for our

00:44:23.360 communities.

00:44:24.140 Drew, you haven't been young in decades.

00:44:26.560 Did any of that make sense to you?

00:44:28.880 You know, it makes a kind of crazy sense.

00:44:31.440 What doesn't make sense to me, this is the thing, I always wonder this about AOC because

00:44:35.320 I think of all of them, of all of the people in that movement, AOC actually strikes me as an

00:44:39.980 ignoramus.

00:44:40.940 She just strikes me as somebody who doesn't know anything, but she doesn't strike me as insincere. 0.93

00:44:44.640 Like, I actually think she kind of buys what she's saying.

00:44:47.420 And what gets me is why they never ask themselves, if we're socialists, how come every gigantic

00:44:52.260 corporation in America is supporting us?

00:44:55.760 Why is it that places like Amazon, which is making gazillions of dollars, why are they

00:45:01.560 sending guys like me who want to read poetry, why are they sending me, you know, recommending

00:45:06.900 these anti-white, anti-racist things?

00:45:10.140 You know, why doesn't it occur to them that the richest donors in the country, like for

00:45:15.260 instance, of the 10 richest donors in the country, nine of them supported Barack Obama.

00:45:20.900 How come it never occurs to them that the people that they're supposed to hate are on

00:45:25.420 their side and something may be wrong, that maybe they're pawns, maybe they're being used?

00:45:30.060 You know, talk about using the youth.

00:45:31.660 They're not just using the youth.

00:45:32.820 They're using the socialists and they're using the rioters to get what they want.

00:45:36.340 And this is something that is supporting these globalist, humongous corporations that are

00:45:41.940 now really a greater threat to some of our freedoms than the government.

00:45:46.040 Well, you saw this tension come out with the DNC, which is that they've been stoking, as

00:45:51.800 you say, the riots and these young people to go out and talk about how terrible America

00:45:54.840 is.

00:45:55.240 But they realized that burning the American flag and toppling George Washington does not

00:45:59.240 exactly play well in Peoria.

00:46:00.960 So they have to limit the amount of AOC time.

00:46:03.680 And unfortunately for them, because it's a Zoom convention, we can get all the little 1.00

00:46:07.540 clips from the youth caucus and then push them out there so we actually do get to see

00:46:10.900 them.

00:46:11.220 But you see it really just in Andrew Cuomo, right?

00:46:13.520 Which is that these youths are saying what the Democrats have really believed for a long

00:46:17.160 time, but the youths are actually saying it.

00:46:19.000 So Andrew Cuomo comes out and he says, we're America tough.

00:46:21.740 America builds back.

00:46:23.080 We're the greatest country ever, right?

00:46:24.680 But 18 months ago, Andrew Cuomo said, we're not going to make America great again because

00:46:28.580 America was never that great.

00:46:30.240 Direct quote.

00:46:31.220 That's what they don't like America.

00:46:32.920 They're literally setting the flag on fire and they realize that for an election, they've

00:46:37.180 got to play up the patriotism. 0.94

00:46:38.760 So Cuomo, trained, practiced liars like him can get that sort of thing done.

00:46:43.340 Biden, Obama, all those guys.

00:46:45.320 But those youths, you've got to maybe constrain them to 60 seconds of anti-colonialism or whatever

00:46:49.860 and then move on.

00:46:51.040 This is the really wondrous thing about how the DNC works.

00:46:54.480 So we only see the primetime.

00:46:56.320 The primetime is basically just the Tinder profile, right?

00:46:58.400 I mean, the primetime is where you put up a picture of like, you know, Brad Pitt on your

00:47:02.700 dating profile and then actually you look like Steve Bannon.

00:47:04.980 Yeah.

00:47:05.160 Right.

00:47:05.400 And this and I'm supposed to do that.

00:47:07.900 And all of these stuff that's happening during the day is what's actually bubbling under the

00:47:11.700 surface and over the surface in the Democratic Party.

00:47:14.080 So for eight hours, you've got no indicator of exactly what Democrats were going to do,

00:47:18.960 except that they don't like guns.

00:47:20.060 Right.

00:47:20.160 I mean, they're big on the gun control.

00:47:21.300 They put that in primetime and they like the environment, apparently.

00:47:24.180 And that means that Gavin Newsom is going to go stand amongst the trees hiding from James

00:47:27.060 Comey.

00:47:27.560 But aside from that, you really have no clue what their actual policies are because they

00:47:31.860 didn't talk about any of their policies. 0.94

00:47:33.260 All they talked about the entire time was that Donald Trump is a big, bad, orange, mean, 1.00

00:47:37.800 fat, bad, mean man who's orange. 1.00

00:47:39.860 Right. 0.99

00:47:39.980 That was the entire pitch.

00:47:41.300 And that's why Joe Biden never had to mention Trump's name in his speech.

00:47:44.200 And he didn't because his entire pitch was I'm empathetic.

00:47:46.680 So, first of all, on empathy, empathy is a terrible quality in a politician.

00:47:50.100 You don't actually want empathy in a politician.

00:47:51.580 It's one thing to say you want sympathy from a politician.

00:47:53.500 If you want empathy in a politician, there's an entire book by a sociologist named Paul

00:47:58.000 Bloom about how empathy actually perverts public policy, because when you put yourself

00:48:01.720 in the position of one specific other person, you're ignoring all of the other people that

00:48:05.280 you can't be empathetic to by nature.

00:48:07.140 So when they do this whole, I want a politician who cares about me.

00:48:10.540 Joe Biden said this, too.

00:48:11.340 He said, my father used to say, I don't care.

00:48:13.120 Well, you know, I don't I'm not asking government to solve my problems, but I want government to

00:48:15.860 understand my problems.

00:48:16.960 I thought to myself, like at the DMV or what?

00:48:19.920 Like who?

00:48:21.000 Whenever somebody says they want the government to have you ever thought like as a rational

00:48:24.520 human being, you know what I need?

00:48:25.860 I need some care, love and understanding.

00:48:27.580 I'm headed on over to the Franchise Tax Board of California for a little bit of empathy today. 0.98

00:48:33.180 Like that's not how any of that crap works. 0.87

00:48:35.220 And so the attempt to make government the be all end all that solves all of your problems. 0.81

00:48:40.060 This is why if Biden is elected, he's actually going to have some problems on his hands because

00:48:43.380 he's got an unwieldy coalition.

00:48:45.480 He's getting elected on the basis of rejecting that entire coalition.

00:48:48.040 His entire speech was based on patriotism.

00:48:50.420 Hey, the man attends church.

00:48:51.680 Hey, the guy loves family.

00:48:53.020 Hey, the guy loves schools and schools being open.

00:48:55.000 Joe Biden did her entire shtick from a closed public school and then blamed that on Trump,

00:48:58.800 who's been begging to reopen the schools.

00:49:00.780 Right.

00:49:00.920 So the entire Democratic coalition is completely unwieldy and they've guaranteed their entire

00:49:05.380 base, the world.

00:49:06.640 Right.

00:49:06.900 Joe Biden promised every single thing.

00:49:09.020 There are no things he will not promise.

00:49:10.780 There are no things that Bernie Sanders thinks the government cannot solve.

00:49:13.280 Well, inevitably, you're going to fall short of that particular standard because even God

00:49:16.900 does not promise you to give you all the things you want in life because God is not 0.99

00:49:19.700 an idiot, unlike these people. 0.96

00:49:21.600 So that's actually going to be a rather difficult thing to pull off, which means that either 1.00

00:49:25.840 Joe Biden has to cave to the radical left or Joe Biden is going to spend his tenure trying

00:49:29.440 to fend them off.

00:49:30.220 Either way, it's not going to be very good for the country.

00:49:32.700 You know, the other thing about the empathy thing is that there's not a lot of empathy for

00:49:36.480 the rest of the world in this hatred of America.

00:49:38.420 It really is embarrassing to me to have these young people come out and talk about how we're

00:49:43.240 colonial and we're sexist and we're racist and all this.

00:49:46.260 Well, in Hong Kong, people are being pulled off the street and arrested for waving the

00:49:50.820 American flag.

00:49:51.700 And the entire world right now could be and should be and would be looking toward America

00:49:57.620 to enhance their freedom against truly oppressive movement out of China, truly oppressive

00:50:03.460 criminality from Russia.

00:50:04.980 These are things that are actually threatening the world.

00:50:07.700 And the people look to us as the symbol of the freedom that all of them long for and

00:50:12.220 all of them want to protect. 0.95

00:50:13.640 And meanwhile, we have these clowns, this minority of people, the small minority of overeducated 1.00

00:50:19.080 buffoons burning the American flag and basically saying to these people, screw you, screw you 1.00

00:50:24.900 and your yearning for freedom. 0.99

00:50:26.260 We are more important than the thing you think you want.

00:50:29.720 And it really is a lack of it's ignorance, really.

00:50:33.040 It's the fact that our news media never covers foreign news at all.

00:50:37.060 I mean, just before he died, I became kind of friendly with Douglas Adams, the guy who

00:50:41.300 wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

00:50:43.140 And he was an Englishman.

00:50:44.140 And when he came over, I said, well, how are you enjoying America?

00:50:46.120 And he said, well, the news blackout is a little tough to take because he never heard

00:50:50.680 a story from the other from anywhere else on Earth.

00:50:53.680 So when they're talking about racism, they've never seen racism.

00:50:56.400 When they're talking about tyranny and authoritarianism, they've never seen it.

00:50:59.700 They don't know what it is.

00:51:00.560 But travel a little bit, go outside the country, and you find out in a big, big hurry how good

00:51:05.440 it is here.

00:51:06.100 It's actually interesting.

00:51:07.440 You both made me think of this, that the left, they expect their politicians to lie

00:51:13.280 and they feel like they're inside, like they're in the lie with them.

00:51:17.220 Yeah.

00:51:17.340 So it's OK with AOC if Joe Biden gets up there and drapes himself in the flag because she

00:51:23.860 actually it's actually a calculation.

00:51:26.020 She understands, I hate the country.

00:51:29.180 I want to dismantle the country.

00:51:30.140 I want to fundamentally reimagine the country.

00:51:32.200 But I know that the Rubes and Hicks, who aren't as enlightened as me, need to hear this

00:51:35.440 kind of talk.

00:51:36.800 On the right, we don't have anything quite like that.

00:51:39.360 If our politicians don't say the things that we actually believe, we get angry with them.

00:51:44.340 The left, I think it's because they know that the media is in the game with them.

00:51:48.060 They know that all the major institutions are in the game with them.

00:51:50.640 They can just they can lie directly to all the undecideds and they're perfect, perfectly

00:51:57.080 comfortable with it.

00:51:57.800 They face no.

00:51:58.340 That's a really great point.

00:51:59.240 That's like Obama's opposing gay marriage and no one ever saying a word or holding it

00:52:04.760 against him.

00:52:05.280 And the actual opinion that he held would now get you fired.

00:52:09.340 Yeah.

00:52:09.580 You know, you did see this a little bit with pre-Trump Republican politicians so that the

00:52:14.820 issue probably where it's most clear is the Israel embassy.

00:52:17.940 So every politician since the 90s has said we're going to move the embassy in Israel to

00:52:22.320 Jerusalem.

00:52:22.800 And then we all listen to that and we say, that's a good idea, but we all know they're

00:52:25.580 not going to do it.

00:52:26.420 And then so Trump goes ahead and he was actually presented by the State Department with a pro

00:52:31.420 and cons list of of reasons to do it, reasons not to do it.

00:52:34.880 And the reasons to do it was completely empty.

00:52:37.100 They didn't see a single reason to do it.

00:52:38.740 And and yet he did it.

00:52:40.020 And everyone was shocked.

00:52:40.680 Even Republicans were shocked.

00:52:41.740 He said, no, no, we all we knew what you meant, you know, but but Trump has this this odd

00:52:47.060 thing because he's not practiced in politics that he just thinks when you when someone

00:52:51.880 says you're supposed to do this, you actually do it.

00:52:54.500 And that that sort of thing is is pretty refreshing.

00:52:57.640 And it does change the dynamic a little bit from left, right, Republican, Democrat to this

00:53:04.220 kind of establishment where we're all lying to one another and actually inserting a little

00:53:09.860 bit of the voice.

00:53:10.340 I actually think that what you just said, though, Michael, may reveal something even

00:53:14.200 worse because, yes, when the Republicans would say they were going to move the embassy, they

00:53:19.660 were they were obviously lying.

00:53:21.260 But they were saying what we wanted to hear because we, the Republican voters, did want

00:53:26.300 to move the embassy.

00:53:27.800 But the the the extreme left doesn't want the the sort of ideas that Biden is espousing.

00:53:33.560 The reason I say it's something far worse, because I actually just realized all the lies

00:53:38.240 are aimed at the same group of people, all the lies told by both parties are aimed at

00:53:43.380 the people in the country who like the country, like our allies, want us to be strong, want

00:53:48.760 to be left alone.

00:53:49.960 The Democrats lie and say that they're like us so that we'll vote for them.

00:53:53.380 They're not like us.

00:53:54.460 The Republicans lie and say, we'll do the things you want, even though they won't do any

00:53:57.860 of the things that we want. 0.99

00:53:58.940 But only one group of people really gets fed all the horse crap in this country. 0.98

00:54:02.540 Yeah, that's a great point. 0.98

00:54:03.220 Well, I also think that the the Democratic Party, I will say, I think that it's pretty

00:54:09.840 obvious they've abandoned the mail vote, right?

00:54:11.600 They recognize the gender gap in this election is just going to be overwhelming.

00:54:14.560 And so the entire pitch, which was empathy and Michelle Obama doing the empathy routine.

00:54:18.640 By the way, Michelle Obama's speech, which was widely, you know, widely praised.

00:54:22.440 The actual content of it was pretty appalling.

00:54:24.840 The you know, her delivery is great.

00:54:26.800 I mean, she's she's great on camera.

00:54:27.980 She knows what she's doing on camera.

00:54:29.060 She knows how to work the camera, which is a skill set. 0.95

00:54:30.780 And her husband is the same way.

00:54:31.780 He's very good on camera.

00:54:32.920 But some of the stuff that she I mean, she overtly said she's the best selling nonfiction

00:54:37.060 author probably of the last 20 years.

00:54:39.020 And she she essentially said, I know a lot of people may not listen to me because I'm

00:54:42.200 a black woman. 1.00

00:54:42.960 Who are these people who are not going to listen to you because you're a black woman? 1.00

00:54:45.480 Like who?

00:54:46.460 You're I mean, the two most popular women in America probably are Oprah Winfrey and Michelle 1.00

00:54:50.740 Obama.

00:54:51.180 So I'm having a tough time with that one.

00:54:53.100 And then she suggested openly in the speech that there is a never ending list of innocent black 0.98

00:54:58.060 people being murdered by the cops.

00:54:59.120 That is a direct quote that there is a never ending list.

00:55:01.280 And I thought to myself, well, it kind of has an end considering there were 15 unarmed

00:55:04.520 people shot by the cops who were black last year.

00:55:06.940 And that's like I can fit that list basically on like a small slip of paper. 0.63

00:55:10.060 And each one of those.

00:55:11.520 And first of all, not just because you're unarmed doesn't mean they're innocent.

00:55:14.020 Some of these people are trying to grab a cop's gun.

00:55:15.860 But but beyond that, the number of innocent people who are murdered by the cops every year

00:55:19.820 is extraordinarily low, which is why we actually do know all their names.

00:55:22.640 When people say say their names, I keep thinking to myself, well, we know their names.

00:55:25.940 I mean, it was it did strike me during the DNC that the same exact people calling for gun

00:55:32.720 control and federal intervention, federal gun control are the same exact people saying

00:55:36.200 that if Donald Trump sends the feds to Chicago to disarm gang members, it's bad.

00:55:39.940 So they want I don't understand what they want.

00:55:42.140 So they want the feds to come in and take the guns away from the bad guys or do they want

00:55:45.340 the feds to not come in and take the guns away from the bad guys so long as the feds happen 0.75

00:55:48.660 to be run by Republicans, which suggests to me that once again, the agenda has nothing

00:55:52.340 to do with bettering anybody's life and much more to do with the the ascension of political

00:55:57.160 power.

00:55:57.660 I want to get your opinion on something.

00:55:59.280 And that is, what do you think that Trump has to do beyond the political?

00:56:01.860 Because the attack here is very obvious.

00:56:03.980 And that is a character attack.

00:56:05.540 This entire thing was a character attack.

00:56:06.800 It was an eight hour long character attack.

00:56:08.340 Look what a nice guy Joe Biden is.

00:56:09.720 He helps out kids who are stuttering.

00:56:11.240 He has terrible personal tragedy in his life.

00:56:14.140 He's very empathetic.

00:56:15.120 He's very caring.

00:56:16.120 Joe's the kind of guy who gives women massages even if they don't want them.

00:56:18.660 Joe's a very empathetic gentleman.

00:56:20.780 And I mean, by the accounts of people who know him, a lot of this is true, right?

00:56:24.060 He's apparently not not not in the world of politics where he's busy destroying Robert

00:56:28.100 Bork and trying to go after Clarence Thomas and wreck him and all that kind of stuff.

00:56:31.760 But on an interpersonal level, he's supposed to be quite charming and very nice and pretty

00:56:36.540 empathetic.

00:56:37.500 And I don't know how Trump combats that other than, you know, fighting back on all these other 1.00

00:56:42.940 grounds that we're talking about and shutting the hell up. 0.91

00:56:45.580 I cannot overemphasize this. 0.98

00:56:46.960 He needs to shut the hell up. 0.96

00:56:48.140 OK, like it is it is it is political malpractice for the president of the United States to 0.97

00:56:52.900 grant nothing but gasoline to the stovetop fire that Democrats are trying to light here.

00:56:57.640 You recall that he won the election last time, not just because James Comey decided to drop

00:57:02.100 that letter on Hillary Clinton last minute, which did make a difference, but that he went

00:57:05.320 completely silent for a week and a half for a week and a half.

00:57:07.680 The only thing it was the only time really in the last several years where Donald Trump

00:57:11.840 realized, wait a second, if I get out of the way and I just stand over here for a second,

00:57:16.080 things are going to go a lot better for me.

00:57:17.960 Just let all the focus be on Hillary Clinton. 1.00

00:57:20.340 I think Democrats are counting on Donald Trump needing to be in the spotlight all the time.

00:57:24.540 And they're just and they're banking on that.

00:57:26.100 They think they can just respond to him all the way to the election.

00:57:28.860 And maybe that's true.

00:57:29.960 But I don't think it has to be true.

00:57:31.160 I think that he can very easily if he is a if he's an intelligent human being, which

00:57:35.140 I have been told by reliable people that he is, then he then it should not be that difficult

00:57:39.500 for him to turn it down, at least on Twitter.

00:57:42.040 It should just deprive the narrative of some oxygen for like five seconds.

00:57:44.860 He was live tweeting Barack Obama's speech in all capital letters while Barack Obama

00:57:49.540 was criticizing him as being fundamentally unserious for live tweeting things.

00:57:52.860 OK, that is that is a bad look.

00:57:54.320 And it's a fundamentally flawed practice of politics.

00:57:57.760 If he wants to win and all of us are planning on voting for him so far as I'm aware, then he

00:58:01.780 needs to do some things to change this perception.

00:58:04.180 But if you know, I think he summed up the strategy very well in a meme, actually.

00:58:08.420 Oh, good.

00:58:08.920 That he tweeted about a month ago.

00:58:10.100 But the meme actually was was really important.

00:58:12.120 It kind of gets to your point, Ben, which is he said they're not coming after me.

00:58:15.860 They're coming after you.

00:58:16.820 And I just happen to be in the way.

00:58:18.480 And that's the message.

00:58:20.360 You know, the Democrats are worried about the the obvious point that they hate the country

00:58:25.140 because they burned it down.

00:58:26.480 And you could see that throughout the convention.

00:58:28.440 So what what President Trump can do, I think, is is your strategy, Jeremy.

00:58:32.500 He can play those sorts of clips.

00:58:34.180 He's got to go after that and he's got to make it not just a left right thing, not just

00:58:38.060 a Republican Democrat thing.

00:58:39.120 It's people who like the country and people who hate the country.

00:58:43.180 And if and I actually do think to your point, Drew, Trump has a bit of a self-effacing sense

00:58:48.980 of humor about this.

00:58:50.000 He knows his personality can be grating.

00:58:51.860 And if he if he like he did in that meme, takes himself out of it and he says, look,

00:58:56.780 I am this one guy.

00:58:58.560 I don't know how it happened, but I am one guy standing up against not just the left,

00:59:03.180 not just the Democrats, but even some Republicans, even someone on the right.

00:59:06.180 And I'm doing this weird thing.

00:59:07.760 But it's for you guys.

00:59:09.460 I think that's a strong message.

00:59:10.920 The Democrats seated the American flag.

00:59:13.180 The Republicans would be insane not to pick it up and make it the symbol of the party.

00:59:17.260 I completely agree with this.

00:59:19.020 I think Jeremy's got the right idea to make sure that people know what the left is doing,

00:59:23.720 to be very specific about it, to make sure he's he's been he's been really good.

00:59:28.020 He's been really good after I got Brad Parscale fired by coming on coming on.

00:59:33.180 I went on Ben's show.

00:59:34.300 I co I subbed for Ben on his show and told Kellyanne Conway to fire Brad Parscale. 0.96

00:59:39.320 A day later, the guy was gone.

00:59:40.740 It was it was really that fast.

00:59:42.620 It was unimaginable power.

00:59:44.460 It's amazing the power of the Ben Shapiro show.

00:59:46.620 But but I have to say, I think since then, he has done the one thing that he should do,

00:59:50.860 which is you campaign as president by doing stuff, you know, making peace in the Middle

00:59:54.500 East and making sure that you go after Iran. 1.00

00:59:56.860 Those are the kinds of things that really show up.

00:59:58.800 Well, I think it's right to focus on what the left is doing.

01:00:01.340 The left is really, you know, never mind their words, never mind their smiley faces.

01:00:04.540 This is what they do.

01:00:05.780 And I do think this idea of having a bit of a sense of humor about his personality,

01:00:10.440 which makes the news media look small by saying that one of his great lines of his

01:00:15.640 presidency was, I don't drink.

01:00:17.060 Can you imagine what a nightmare I'd be if I drink?

01:00:19.400 You know, that's the kind of self-awareness that I think plays really well.

01:00:23.340 But it also makes the media look like what they are, which is corrupt, small people biting

01:00:26.820 in his ankles.

01:00:28.180 Yeah, I guess I already answered the question when I said I think that he has to make it

01:00:31.640 about what the left is actually doing, not just about what they say.

01:00:35.080 I do agree, Ben, that he also has to kind of get out of the way.

01:00:38.820 One challenge that Donald Trump has is that he does see the world as being about him.

01:00:44.000 He has that in common with his predecessor.

01:00:46.580 And that makes it very hard for him to make the election about them.

01:00:50.840 He wants the election to be about him.

01:00:53.020 What Donald Trump wants is sort of a vote of confidence from the American people.

01:00:57.960 That's not what's actually in the offering, though.

01:01:00.420 What he needs is a vote of no confidence against the left.

01:01:02.980 He needs to understand sort of like to take it all the way back to our first president.

01:01:07.520 George Washington understood that he didn't have to win the American Revolution.

01:01:11.420 He had to not lose the American Revolution.

01:01:13.900 Donald Trump needs to understand that he doesn't need to win this election.

01:01:16.860 He needs to not lose it.

01:01:18.240 The left has run a strategy that was tailored designed to defeat only one man.

01:01:25.800 It only works against Donald Trump.

01:01:27.800 And so for a brief moment, you know, I watched this show.

01:01:30.460 It just wrapped up its seven-year run called Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

01:01:34.180 And in this last season, the ultimate season of the show, they were dealing with these robots from the future who can see the stream of time.

01:01:42.900 And they had gone back into the human past of the 20th century.

01:01:47.180 And they were unmaking all the things, like killing the Avengers back when they were children and all this kind of stuff was going on.

01:01:53.940 And so no matter what our heroes do, they can't win.

01:01:57.620 They can't win because the robots see the stream of time in terms of probabilities.

01:02:03.400 And they can always figure out based on the probabilities what your move is going to be.

01:02:07.360 And so they have this breakthrough moment.

01:02:10.220 It's the turn of the season when they realize, well, that means the only way we can win is to not be the thing that they could calculate that we could be.

01:02:18.240 We actually all have to do the thing that we would never do.

01:02:21.000 Whatever our instinct is, don't do it.

01:02:22.680 Whatever made us strong, run against it because that's what they won't be able to see coming.

01:02:27.220 It's very difficult.

01:02:28.040 But I actually think it's what the president has to do in this situation.

01:02:30.420 I do want to push back a little bit, though.

01:02:32.160 I don't think he should take himself out of this entirely.

01:02:34.280 He should be wise about it.

01:02:35.780 But let's not forget, for every presidential election in recent memory, the bigger personality wins.

01:02:41.200 The more interesting, the more lively, the more vivacious.

01:02:44.280 Obama beats Romney.

01:02:45.480 Obama beats him.

01:02:46.060 If Donald Trump picks flowers in the Rose Garden three times between now and the election, he is the bigger personality.

01:02:51.640 Well, that's a fair.

01:02:52.500 He's breathing.

01:02:53.420 He's breathing.

01:02:54.000 He's more lively by definition.

01:02:55.400 He's breathing.

01:02:56.440 He's running against an actual corpse at this point.

01:03:00.120 And by the way, the media's overblown praise for the fact that Joe Biden could keep it together for a full-on 24 minutes was astonishing.

01:03:07.780 I mean, truly, like, even my grandmothers, who are well into their 90s at this point, can keep it together for 24 minutes.

01:03:13.900 Like, I understand that we set the bar really low for the guy.

01:03:16.840 But at a certain point, he is going to actually have to answer some questions from a living human being.

01:03:21.760 This brings me to the final question of the day.

01:03:24.640 And then we're going to head on over to All Access and answer questions for our All Access members for a little bit.

01:03:29.860 You should head over there right now if you're not already a subscriber at The Daily Wire.

01:03:33.300 You can get 20% off with the coupon code ACCESS and join the fun.

01:03:37.600 We'll be answering those questions.

01:03:39.000 But my last question for you guys for the day.

01:03:42.560 Will there be a debate?

01:03:46.420 Yes.

01:03:47.520 There will be?

01:03:48.500 Yeah.

01:03:49.120 I don't think, I mean, I know, Jeremy, you've said a couple times you just don't see how he can do it.

01:03:53.520 I don't see how he can't do it.

01:03:55.080 I think that that is the ultimate back down.

01:03:57.780 It means you will back down to Putin.

01:03:59.460 It means you'll back down to China.

01:04:00.640 It means you just don't have what it takes to be the president of the United States.

01:04:04.300 They've floated every argument they can think of in The New York Times and in all the left-wing venues.

01:04:08.920 They floated every argument they can think of.

01:04:10.880 Clearly, the message is he's got to do it.

01:04:13.180 And frankly, again, if he stays on his feet for whatever it is, two hours, and it's not like, you know,

01:04:19.220 Bradley Cooper accepting the award in The Star is Born, I think if he does that, he's going to be praised to the skies.

01:04:27.000 What a wonderful, you know, breathing guy he is.

01:04:29.320 As Trump has, in fact, said, I do not think he can back down.

01:04:32.880 I agree.

01:04:33.580 I don't think he can back down entirely as they tried and it failed.

01:04:37.640 My fear is this, though.

01:04:39.060 There's a lot of gray area between no debate and real traditional fair and square debate.

01:04:44.860 And that could involve Zoom, like the whole, you know, convention was basically virtual.

01:04:49.360 I think if there's a virtual debate, they'll just rig it for Biden.

01:04:52.440 They try to rig the fair and square debates for Democrats, Candy Crowley and including in 2016.

01:04:57.580 So, you know, that I don't think the Trump campaign can allow.

01:05:00.600 It's got to be a fair and square debate where the moderator and Trump and Biden are all in the same room

01:05:06.120 and they're still going to try to rig it through various technical means.

01:05:09.020 But there, I think Donald Trump eats Joe Biden for lunch, which is why they're going to try to bring it into that gray area.

01:05:15.280 Ben?

01:05:15.860 I think they'll hold the debates.

01:05:17.020 And I think that the thing that Donald Trump has to do is in the first 30 seconds of the debate, he has to drop Hunter Biden's name.

01:05:22.760 He has to do it.

01:05:23.780 He has to do it for a couple of reasons.

01:05:24.920 One, because it is an actual issue in the campaign that Joe Biden has used his family connections

01:05:30.660 or allowed others to use family connections to make a lot of money.

01:05:33.000 There was a real unintentional irony to the video of Hunter Biden saying,

01:05:35.660 my father's always been there for me.

01:05:37.140 And I was thinking, yeah, no, no bleeps. 1.00

01:05:38.420 I mean, fact check, true.

01:05:41.540 But if he drops Hunter Biden's name, one of the things that the Democrats have been trying to protect Biden from

01:05:47.160 are the consequences of any question that pisses him off.

01:05:49.700 Because the empathetic, nice grandpa vibe goes away immediately and becomes incredibly combative.

01:05:54.940 He's challenging people to fight.

01:05:56.340 He's challenging people to push up contests.

01:05:58.100 He starts to lose his train of thought.

01:05:59.940 So you hit him with Hunter Biden in the first 30 seconds of that debate.

01:06:02.480 He starts to lose it.

01:06:03.700 And Trump says, listen, this is the guy that you're going to put in the White House.

01:06:07.300 He's not even in the White House.

01:06:08.560 Look, let's talk about why you picked Kamala Harris to replace you, because we all know you're a transitional figure. 0.92

01:06:12.540 You're not holding it together here.

01:06:13.860 I don't know what makes anybody think you can hold it together in the White House.

01:06:17.320 That's almost the way it has to play note for note, I think.

01:06:19.900 I think you guys are out of your minds.

01:06:21.340 I'll give you each $100 if there's a single debate.

01:06:24.020 Done.

01:06:24.120 And there should be, by the way, even a debate is ridiculous, because there should be three.

01:06:29.940 That's the modern standard is three debates.

01:06:31.960 I don't think they'll put this guy on a stage.

01:06:33.680 I don't think they have to.

01:06:34.700 Drew, I'm actually a little surprised you think that they have to.

01:06:38.220 Your point, which I think is well made, is that he owns the media.

01:06:41.800 The left owns the media.

01:06:44.320 If he says, I don't get on a stage with racists, that'll be the end of it.

01:06:48.060 They won't hold him to any standard.

01:06:49.260 It won't be backing down.

01:06:50.340 It won't be backing down to Putin.

01:06:51.640 It will be a principled stand against Donald Trump to not put yourself on a stage with him.

01:06:56.420 I just can't even, I can't even visualize.

01:06:59.680 I can't imagine a possible future where they put this guy on a stage with Donald Trump.

01:07:03.780 The left owns the media, but the media doesn't own the people yet.

01:07:06.660 And the people still will see through it.

01:07:08.860 You know, listen, Jeremy, if you're right, you're right.

01:07:11.780 You know, nobody can predict the future.

01:07:13.620 But I think if they don't do it, it will be political suicide.

01:07:17.440 Those Chromacons can see all the timelines.
