Ep. 1074 - Can We Finally Say The Masks Never Worked?

Summary

It appears people will no longer be ostracized from the public square for questioning the epidemiological efficacy of those stupid, cloth hankies that Dr. Fauci made us wear for two years. Google appears to have dropped its ban on mask commentary.

00:00:37.680 Breaking news, major science update from big tech.
00:00:41.660 It appears people will no longer be ostracized from the public square
00:00:45.840 for questioning the epidemiological efficacy of those stupid cloth hankies that Dr. Fauci made us wear for two years.
00:00:54.320 YouTube has apparently updated its COVID misinformation policy.
00:00:59.760 For most of the epidemic, this would be after Fauci told us the masks work,
00:01:05.900 after he told us that the masks don't work.
00:01:08.960 YouTube and other big tech platforms suspended and deplatformed people for even questioning the masks.
00:01:16.460 I had episodes of this show taken down because they were in violation of YouTube's COVID misinformation policy.
00:01:25.480 Of course, I still made fun of the masks, but I had to do it in an indirect way.
00:01:30.380 And importantly, in an extremely expensive way when the episodes of my expensive show were taken offline.
00:01:37.760 Now, just one day after Dr. Fauci announced his accelerated retirement before Republicans retake the Congress,
00:01:46.840 now, all of a sudden, it appears Google has dropped its rules on mask commentary.
00:01:53.420 Kind of coincidental timing, but whatever the reason, let me just take this opportunity to say,
00:01:59.200 The masks were always dumb, and they didn't do jack diddly to stop COVID.
00:02:05.140 And the only thing they ever accomplished was to make us all breathe stale air and look like lemmings,
00:02:11.440 which our sadistic and corrupt overlords took great pleasure in.
00:02:18.140 Boy, that's nice.
00:02:20.080 Now that that's out of the way, we have to ask.
00:02:22.000 If making fun of the masks no longer constitutes scientific misinformation,
00:02:27.620 then how did it ever constitute scientific misinformation?
00:02:32.680 The masks have not changed.
00:02:34.360 The people have not changed.
00:02:35.700 The platform has not changed.
00:02:38.480 Even COVID, with all the variants, has not really changed all that much.
00:02:42.500 If the scientists simply got the masks wrong,
00:02:46.280 then who's to say they aren't getting it wrong now?
00:02:48.660 And if all of this has more to do with politics than with science or with medicine or with public health,
00:02:55.860 then why were a handful of big tech oligarchs able to set the rules
00:02:59.760 for what can and cannot be debated in the public square?
00:03:03.520 I'm glad that YouTube has decided to let us tell the truth about the masks again.
00:03:08.480 But the real problem is that YouTube gets to decide in the first place.
00:03:12.360 I'm Michael Knowles.
00:03:13.020 This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:03:18.660 Welcome back to the show.
00:03:21.920 My favorite comment yesterday is from Drania Shale,
00:03:25.220 who says,
00:03:25.780 Damn, Fauci is even wrong about when he's leaving his position.
00:03:30.240 That's epic.
00:03:31.340 A perfect way for the man to go out.
00:03:34.140 He makes a prediction about when he's going to leave.
00:03:36.180 I'm going to leave somewhere right around the end of Joe Biden's term.
00:03:39.860 And then what do you get two months later?
00:03:41.660 Never mind.
00:03:42.300 I'm out soon.
00:03:42.980 Bye.
00:03:43.400 See ya.
00:03:43.900 Yep.
00:03:44.140 He even got that wrong.
00:03:46.960 We got to protect ourselves from bad technocrats.
00:03:49.660 We got to protect ourselves from epidemics.
00:03:52.060 We got to protect ourselves from freeze, fire, flood, and the bad guys.

00:05:08.260 Dr. Fauci can tell which way the wind is blowing.
00:05:13.060 Dr. Fauci might not be great on pandemics,
00:05:16.660 and he might not be great on the kind of research he's funding,
00:05:20.060 like gain-of-function research in Wuhan,
00:05:21.940 and he might not be great about the efficacy of masks or vaccines or anything else.
00:05:27.620 But I'll tell you what, that guy knows which way the wind is blowing,
00:05:30.020 and he knows that the political winds are against him right now,
00:05:32.860 and he knows that if the Republicans retake the Congress,
00:05:35.280 he's going to have to at least in some way answer for his four decades of failure and incompetence,
00:05:41.580 and even worse, lies and deceit.
00:05:44.240 And so Dr. Fauci is running as fast as he can out of Washington, D.C.
00:05:48.620 You are going to see a Fauci-shaped hole in the wall at NIH the second those Republicans take power.
00:05:53.580 So he's trying to get out of town, and the reason is that he knows that they're going to drag him in front of Congress,
00:05:59.100 and he's going to have to answer questions, which he says he will do, but not if he gets tough questions.
00:06:04.960 If once you've retired, Republicans want you to go testify, is that something you would do?
00:06:09.640 Sure, I certainly would consider that, but you've got to remember,
00:06:14.120 I believe oversight is a very important part of government structure,
00:06:18.500 and I welcome it, and it can be productive.
00:06:20.780 But what has happened up to now is more of a character assassination than it is oversight.
00:06:26.100 So sure, I'd be happy to cooperate, so long as we make it something that is a dignified oversight,
00:06:31.960 which it should be, and not just bringing up ridiculous things and attacking my character.
00:06:36.860 That's not oversight.
00:06:37.700 That's not, I don't want any kind of oversight that has them talking about my career and my record
00:06:45.040 and all the mistakes I've made and all the lies I've told and all of the corruption I've engaged in.
00:06:50.360 That's not dignified, okay?
00:06:53.520 I want it to make me look really dignified.
00:06:57.100 So if, for instance, the questions are, hey, Dr. Fauci, why are you so handsome?
00:07:03.260 That would be, I think, very dignified.
00:07:05.240 Hey, Dr. Fauci, you're so smart and charming.
00:07:10.100 How do you do both?
00:07:10.980 That would be a very good question to ask.
00:07:13.180 But if they're going to ask me about my failure on AIDS and my inability to make a new anthrax vaccine
00:07:20.020 after I squandered gazillions of dollars from the federal government for it,
00:07:24.040 and after my funding of gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology,
00:07:28.500 and after my lying about the whole pandemic the entire time, that would be very undignified.
00:07:35.180 What a jerk.
00:07:37.200 What a jerk.
00:07:38.480 He says the only way he'll testify is if he gets softballs.
00:07:41.340 Who cares?
00:07:41.820 Especially after the show trials of the January 6th committee and all the rest of this Democrat
00:07:48.600 attack on conservatives, after the show trial of Steve Bannon, after all the rest of it.
00:07:54.600 I want them to subpoena Fauci, and then if he's smart, he'll just show up and put on the same
00:08:01.200 kind of soft shoe that he's done for the past two years, and he'll probably get away with it.
00:08:04.760 But if he doesn't show up, though, I want them to hold him in contempt of Congress.
00:08:09.100 I want them to throw the book at him.
00:08:12.920 Because even if Fauci realizes, okay, I've got to pull back a little bit here.
00:08:17.180 I've got to tone it down a little bit.
00:08:18.560 He's actually said elsewhere the reason that he's going to retire is because he thinks that
00:08:24.500 it will make it a little bit less likely that the Republicans in Congress go after him.
00:08:30.800 But even on that, he's hedging.
00:08:32.020 He's, I'm retiring, but I'm not really retiring.
00:08:33.660 And I just, I think if I'm out of the spotlight, the odds that they go after me, it's much lower.
00:08:40.080 So Fauci understands that a little bit.
00:08:42.500 The technocrats around the world, at the United Nations, at the World Health Organization,
00:08:48.800 those guys, they're accelerating, if anything.
00:08:53.800 If anything, they are feeling empowered to take even more control and even more sovereignty away from us.
00:09:01.580 The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebrezius.
00:09:07.660 Did I say that correctly?
00:09:08.860 Probably not.
00:09:09.440 Who cares?
00:09:10.320 He said in a speech to the WHO, quote,
00:09:14.080 The pandemic has demonstrated not only why the world needs the World Health Organization,
00:09:19.580 but why the world needs a stronger, empowered, and sustainably financed World Health Organization.
00:09:25.280 I thank all member states for the historic commitment you made to gradually increase assessed contributions to 50%.
00:09:32.580 That would be Dr. Tedros.
00:09:37.180 The World Health Organization is in large part the reason why the COVID pandemic was so bad.
00:09:43.540 Because the World Health Organization covered up for China during the first several months of the pandemic.
00:09:49.780 And the World Health Organization not only carried water on the danger that the virus in China posed to the rest of the world.
00:09:55.960 The World Health Organization carried water for China on how the virus began in the first place.
00:10:01.880 Flew cover for China when they made up the ridiculous story about the bats and the pangolins at the Wuhan wet market.
00:10:07.340 Instead of where the virus almost certainly came out of, which was the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
00:10:12.960 Virology, which was funded in part by Dr. Fauci and the NIH in the United States.
00:10:19.420 Tedros and the whole WHO made the pandemic worse.
00:10:23.720 This is why Donald Trump and lots of Republicans said we need to decrease our funding for the World Health Organization.
00:10:29.760 These guys, not only are they not improving the public health, not only are they taking away our rights and our liberties,
00:10:34.500 they're actually making the whole situation far worse than even when it started.
00:10:40.500 And this is what the libs always do.
00:10:41.960 So the libs cause a problem or they exacerbate a problem and then they take that problem as evidence that they need more power.
00:10:52.220 They, the people who caused and exacerbated the problem in the first place.
00:10:57.060 The problems really, really bad give us more power.
00:11:00.960 You especially see this, the clearest example would be with welfare, with certain welfare programs that create cycles of dependency.
00:11:07.780 The libs will take a bunch of power and then wield that power within welfare, giving out lots of money, often in trapping people, not in a social safety net, but in a spider web.
00:11:17.200 And then as the problem gets worse, they use that as an excuse to say, see, this is why you need to give us a lot more money so that we can expand the programs that are trapping people in the cycles of poverty in the first place.
00:11:27.060 This is what they always do.
00:11:29.860 The libs take a lot of power in the education system.
00:11:32.240 Then what happens?
00:11:33.380 The quality of students' education decreases.
00:11:37.020 Students become much, much more ignorant.
00:11:38.700 Then the libs point to that.
00:11:39.660 They say, this is a huge education crisis.
00:11:41.380 You've got to give us more money and power.
00:11:42.900 No, guys.
00:11:44.140 It was the fact that you took all the power in education that caused the education crisis in the first place.
00:11:50.660 And there is a video out right now from a YouTuber, James Klug, which makes you tremble and weep for America.
00:11:58.280 It's a video of Gen Z.
00:12:00.480 This guy just goes out on the street, asks really, really basic questions to a bunch of Zoomers on the street.
00:12:07.820 And they don't know the answer.
00:12:09.040 And the reason why this is so weird is because we have been reliably told our entire lives, if you're a young person, let's say you're under 45, you've probably been told your whole life you're the most educated generation ever.
00:12:21.720 And people are being told this more and more the younger they are.
00:12:25.060 And it turns out we actually know much, much less than virtually every generation that came before us.
00:12:31.580 It means we need to protect what assets we do have.
00:12:34.660 It's why you've got to check out Birch Gold.

00:13:46.840 The YouTuber, James Klug, goes face-to-face with the Zoomers, asks them really simple questions.
00:13:54.040 Here's what they say.
00:13:55.180 How many stars are on the United States flag?
00:14:00.320 103.
00:14:01.600 103?
00:14:02.520 103.
00:14:03.360 Yeah.
00:14:04.620 Obama would have said 57.
00:14:05.980 32.
00:14:06.080 What ocean is on the east side of the United States?
00:14:09.280 What ocean?
00:14:11.380 Can I Google it?
00:14:14.000 You guys know this.
00:14:15.520 I know this.
00:14:17.820 I don't know this.
00:14:19.280 What country is the Queen of England from?
00:14:22.960 I'm not a politics guy.
00:14:24.700 I don't know.
00:14:26.380 I really don't know.
00:14:27.260 Just take a guess.
00:14:28.060 Like, what country is the Queen of England from?
00:14:30.740 Europe?
00:14:31.360 I don't know.
00:14:33.120 I don't know.
00:14:34.020 I just took a guess.
00:14:34.720 What's the capital of the United States?
00:14:36.860 Um, the, um, there's a capital?
00:14:41.080 What?
00:14:41.760 Lexi!
00:14:42.640 Take a guess.
00:14:43.580 Um, um, I don't know.
00:14:47.500 Uh, probably California.
00:14:49.060 Yeah, that's right.
00:14:49.920 Probably California.
00:14:50.560 It is?
00:14:51.440 Nah.
00:14:51.680 Practically speaking, I think, I think it is probably California.
00:14:56.680 It's California.
00:14:57.720 Just the California vibe seems to be taking over the whole country.
00:15:03.640 Really sad stuff.
00:15:06.160 Now, you might say, oh, well, he just went out and found the dumbest people he could find
00:15:10.340 and posted their silly gotcha moments.
00:15:14.580 I'm not sure that that's true.
00:15:16.000 There was a survey that was taken by the ISI, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, back in 2007.
00:15:22.280 So this is now 15 years ago.
00:15:25.000 And it was a study of the elite universities measuring historical and civic knowledge of incoming freshmen and graduating seniors.
00:15:32.160 The survey found that the incoming freshmen knew more than the graduating seniors,
00:15:38.180 that students were becoming more ignorant the longer they were in college.
00:15:42.840 You can, I think, extrapolate this out to the entire education system these days,
00:15:47.500 which has become just as ideologized as the universities were for so many years.
00:15:55.560 People don't know a lot of stuff.
00:15:57.240 This is part of a problem that I have talked about on this show for a very long time,
00:16:05.680 that sometimes I get some pushback from the conservatives on,
00:16:08.860 which is that we have always been told,
00:16:11.520 we shouldn't teach students what to think, only how to think.
00:16:16.860 That's what we were told.
00:16:17.380 That's what I was told when I was coming up through school.
00:16:19.080 I bet that's what most of you were told.
00:16:20.940 You even hear this from conservatives.
00:16:23.100 The liberals are teaching students, the leftists,
00:16:26.460 those leftists who indoctrinate rather than educate.
00:16:30.540 They're teaching students what to think, not how to think.
00:16:35.060 This one, I'm saying this for the people in the bleachers.
00:16:38.760 You cannot teach somebody how to think without teaching them in some way what to think.
00:16:46.820 You can't teach a student how to think about math without teaching them that two plus two equals four.
00:16:54.440 You can't teach a student how to think about America and American history without teaching them that the American Revolution begins in earnest in 1776.
00:17:07.560 You need to teach them facts about things.
00:17:12.780 You cannot teach a student how to think about ethics and morality without teaching the student that it is wrong to commit murder.
00:17:19.400 When we talk about this distinction between education and indoctrination, it's usually a meaningless distinction.
00:17:28.320 It's a distinction without a difference.
00:17:29.940 Both of the words mean essentially the same thing.
00:17:32.820 Indoctrinate is a word.
00:17:33.840 It comes from the Latin word docere, which means to teach, to lead, to educate, to lead out of your kind of ignorance into a fuller kind of education,
00:17:46.400 which comes, it's got that same root word right there.
00:17:49.400 The only difference is that we mean educate to be a good thing and indoctrinate to be a bad thing.
00:17:55.400 It's always our opponents who are indoctrinating.
00:17:57.740 We're the ones who are educating.
00:17:59.960 We can't escape the fact that in order to educate someone properly, you've got to teach them things.
00:18:04.740 Another terrible educational movement that occurred while a lot of us were being educated or not educated was that we were told,
00:18:12.820 oh, you don't need to memorize anything.
00:18:14.280 You don't need to memorize poems or speeches or dates or people or events.
00:18:19.940 You don't need to memorize that because you live in the future.
00:18:23.140 You have Google.
00:18:24.020 You have your magical device right here.
00:18:26.040 So you can just look all that up.
00:18:27.380 That doesn't matter.
00:18:27.820 You just need to understand patterns, themes of history, not the actual facts or anything.
00:18:33.920 And the Libs pushed this in particular because by having students remain ignorant of what actually occurred in history,
00:18:43.500 they could just convince students that they were actually educated because they believed the highly ideological themes that we were told about history.
00:18:53.980 Oh, look, you don't need to know anything about the history of the United States.
00:18:57.820 All you need to know is the theme that we went from oppression to freedom.
00:19:03.180 That's the theme.
00:19:04.720 Forget about the actual stuff that happened.
00:19:07.560 You don't need to know anything about the history of Christianity or the history of the scientific revolution or anything.
00:19:15.080 All you need to know is we went from the dark, ignorant ages into the enlightened, brilliant, scientific, atheist ages.
00:19:21.820 That's all you need to know.
00:19:23.140 You don't need to know anything about what actually happened.
00:19:25.620 And so is it any wonder that now kids, when they're interviewed, they don't know really basic stuff about their own country.
00:19:32.880 They don't know how many states there are.
00:19:35.180 And when you don't know about your own country, when you don't know about your own history, you don't have any reason to preserve or conserve it.
00:19:41.520 You can't be a conservative.
00:19:42.560 You couldn't be a conservative.
00:19:44.900 Even if you wanted to be a conservative, you wouldn't know what to conserve.
00:19:48.360 What are the schools actually doing?
00:19:49.660 The schools aren't teaching students very much of anything at all.
00:19:52.700 Instead, they're pushing a radical ideology, especially this trans stuff.
00:19:56.680 And we make fun of it.
00:19:57.760 We make fun of the pronouns.
00:19:58.860 We make fun of the crazy haircuts.
00:20:00.480 But it's really, really harmful to students.
00:20:03.540 There's a Florida father who was just testifying before the state surgeon general.
00:20:08.440 He was describing how the school that his daughter attended secretly transed his daughter.
00:20:14.840 And this secret transing of the daughter led the daughter to try to kill herself in the school.
00:20:20.660 In January of 2022, I went to my daughter's elementary school to deal with a very sensitive incident.
00:20:29.740 My daughter attempted suicide by hanging in one of the school bathroom.
00:20:34.580 My wife and I were told by the school counselor that it happened because of an ongoing issue with her gender identity.
00:20:42.960 We were in shock because our daughter never showed any signs of questioning her biological sex.
00:20:52.040 We were told that they knew about the gender issue due to meetings they were having with our daughter behind our backs.
00:21:01.240 We learned that during these meetings, our daughter's confusion was affirmed and validated
00:21:08.300 through the use of fictitious male names and male pronouns.
00:21:12.960 Our daughter was living a double life without her consent or knowledge.
00:21:20.400 This father's restraint is so admirable.
00:21:24.220 Imagine, especially if you have kids.
00:21:26.560 Even if you don't have kids, imagine you do have kids.
00:21:28.560 But it's so clear if you do have kids.
00:21:31.360 Your sweet little kid, apple of your eye, precious, you'd do anything.
00:21:35.440 You'd throw yourself in front of a bus for this kid.
00:21:38.860 You send this kid to a school that you pay for through your taxes.
00:21:42.960 And you assume that you can trust the people at the school, the teachers and the administrators.
00:21:49.120 And then the teachers and the administrators secretly fill your precious little kid's head with lies and fantasies and perverted delusions.
00:21:57.160 And then your kid tries to kill herself.
00:21:58.700 It would be very difficult to refrain from violence in that situation against the perverts and the psychos and the weirdos at the school who did that.
00:22:11.900 It would be very hard.
00:22:12.580 That father has such admirable restraint.
00:22:15.400 That's what's going on in our schools.
00:22:18.780 And this is happening in Florida.
00:22:21.380 That's why Ron DeSantis has put out this mandate to the schools to say, look, no more of this.
00:22:30.220 No more of the weird race education, but especially no more of the weird sex education up through grade three.
00:22:37.120 The only problem with what's going on in Florida is it doesn't go nearly far enough.
00:22:42.680 We've got to kick this stuff out of the classrooms all the way up to grade 12, the weird transgender stuff.
00:22:47.860 We just have to kick it out.
00:22:49.280 And if teachers bring this up at all, fire them, maybe prosecute them.
00:22:52.820 I don't want to sound hyperbolic here, but this is an actual existential threat to society if men and women don't know the difference between the two.
00:23:04.880 All right.
00:23:05.200 It is a severe threat to the entire society if this is what's going on in the education system.
00:23:10.620 And so we have to take it very, very seriously.
00:23:13.240 Meanwhile, the Libs are crying and saying that Ron DeSantis is basically Mussolini.
00:23:18.760 Forget Mussolini.
00:23:19.520 He's Hitler.
00:23:19.980 That's what they're saying because he wants to limit the ability of these sickos in the guidance counselor offices and the administrative offices and the classrooms, for that matter, to trans your little daughter and your little son.
00:23:35.420 What are people going to do about it?
00:23:37.000 Ron DeSantis isn't even able to do all that much.
00:23:39.400 This is still going on.
00:23:40.860 DeSantis gives out his orders and the teachers laugh and the administrators laugh and the state attorneys laugh.
00:23:45.660 And they say, yeah, we're not going to, we're, okay, the governor gave out his order.
00:23:50.140 Now let's see him enforce it.
00:23:52.760 I talk a lot on this show about the squishes.
00:23:55.480 I do because the squishes, in some ways, they bug me more than the Libs.
00:23:58.460 The Libs, I expect.
00:24:00.080 I expect them to try to screw up the country.
00:24:02.040 It's the squishes who I find so deceptive.
00:24:04.000 I'm talking about the Kinzingers.
00:24:05.520 I'm talking about the Liz Cheney's, whose gelatinous rhino spines just absolutely morph and melt under the slightest pressure.
00:24:14.820 Well, it's that kind of behavior that you would never dream of engaging in or modeling to your son or daughter.
00:24:20.820 And yet, the numbers are in.
00:24:23.500 Right now, most of you squish this very morning.
00:24:26.480 Some of you are squishing right now.
00:24:28.300 Michael, you're being too harsh.
00:24:29.940 Yeah, maybe, maybe.
00:24:31.560 All right.
00:24:32.600 But if you are still not shaving with a Jeremy's razor,
00:24:36.760 if you're still using a razor made by a company that said that you're toxic,
00:24:40.480 you are, one, shaming yourself,
00:24:43.080 and two, funding the bizarre gender ideologues
00:24:46.540 who wish that you would just disappear down a drain with your unwanted stubble.
00:24:50.160 Don't squish on your values.
00:24:51.420 Swish, switch.
00:24:52.740 Don't squish.
00:24:53.780 Switch to Jeremy's Razors.
00:24:55.420 Get your Founders Series Shave Kit today.

00:25:01.680 Meghan Markle is launching a podcast.
00:25:08.700 I'm not interested in this story because I'm interested in Meghan Markle.
00:25:12.460 I'm not even interested in this story because I'm all that interested in podcasts.
00:25:18.300 I'm interested in this story because I'm really interested in politics.
00:25:22.080 And Meghan Markle's stupid new podcast tells you pretty much everything you need to know
00:25:27.460 about how political power is exercised in this country.
00:25:32.300 People should expect the real me in this and probably the me that they've never gotten to know.
00:25:36.620 Certainly not in the past few years where everything is through the lens of the media
00:25:40.640 as opposed to, hey, it's me.
00:25:43.300 I'm just excited to be myself and talk and be unfiltered.
00:25:47.440 And yeah, it's fun.
00:25:52.140 I've said this before.
00:25:53.300 I'll say it again.
00:25:54.700 I'm calling for a complete and total shutdown of new podcasts
00:25:58.180 until we figure out what the hell is going on.
00:26:00.040 Too many people have podcasts.
00:26:01.860 Look, I understand it's rich coming from me.
00:26:04.060 I have three podcasts myself.
00:26:06.580 Okay, I've got this show.
00:26:08.260 I've got Verdict with Ted Cruz.
00:26:10.140 I've got the book club.
00:26:11.740 I'm on other podcasts, actually, too.
00:26:13.380 I'm on backstage.
00:26:14.240 I get it.
00:26:14.840 Okay, but it's too much.
00:26:16.420 Meghan Markle having a podcast.
00:26:18.060 It's too much.
00:26:20.040 And why does she have a podcast?
00:26:21.040 This woman was Duchess of Sussex.
00:26:26.720 This woman was actual royalty in the most prestigious royal family in the world.
00:26:33.340 The last really even somewhat important royal family on earth.
00:26:37.120 She wasn't even just a politician.
00:26:40.520 She was even higher than a politician in public life.
00:26:43.420 And she gave all that up to do a podcast.
00:26:47.820 She gave up having an official role in politics to just kind of be in the media.
00:26:56.540 There was a story that came out over the weekend.
00:26:59.980 This is a story about me, actually, and some other people, too.
00:27:04.960 It's from Politico.
00:27:05.920 It was a total hit piece on conservatives who have podcasts.
00:27:09.100 It was called, Wow, Politicians Are Really Bad at Podcasting.
00:27:12.820 And none of these politicians are getting it right.
00:27:15.680 And the story was largely about me and Senator Cruz because we have the most prominent politician
00:27:23.720 podcast in the country.
00:27:25.560 That's the Verdict Podcast, which hit number one on the charts and stayed there for a long
00:27:28.780 time, and it still is pretty high up on the charts most of the time.
00:27:32.000 And this Politico guy hates the podcast, and he called me a right-wing gadfly, which I'll
00:27:37.240 take as a badge of honor.
00:27:38.280 I would really be worried if a Politico reporter liked my podcast.
00:27:43.040 That's how you know I'd have to hang it up and find a new job.
00:27:45.600 But I really like, he was very upset.
00:27:47.280 He was very bothered.
00:27:48.000 He listened to lots of episodes of the show.
00:27:50.140 He certainly didn't learn anything.
00:27:51.960 But even granted all of that, the very fact that this article could be written, because
00:28:00.000 it wasn't just about me and Ted Cruz.
00:28:01.880 It was about all of the politicians who have podcasts as well.
00:28:06.520 I think Senator Cruz and I had the first one, and then afterward, it was just this cascade
00:28:13.860 of politicians starting podcasts, sometimes with co-hosts like me, sometimes just on their
00:28:19.700 own.
00:28:20.020 They get a microphone, they record it.
00:28:21.580 And so you had all these politicians making podcasts.
00:28:23.500 And the fact that that happened tells you a lot about our political order, which is that
00:28:31.240 politicians are starting podcasts because there is essentially no difference between an elected
00:28:40.140 politician and a media figure in terms of the actual political influence that they wield
00:28:44.980 in the country.
00:28:45.540 Now, obviously, if you're in the United States Senate, you do still have certain privileges
00:28:52.080 that the bureaucracy and the deep state have not managed to take away from you.
00:28:56.680 You can confirm judges.
00:28:58.520 You can ratify treaties most of the time.
00:29:03.120 But most of the political power of elected politicians has gone away.
00:29:08.740 Even the U.S. Senate, which should be the most important deliberative body in the world, but
00:29:14.960 certainly the U.S. House of Representatives, and certainly a lot of the state houses, and
00:29:19.280 certainly a lot of the lower elected positions.
00:29:21.840 That power has gone away to the deep state, to the bureaucracy, to the executive agencies, to
00:29:29.300 the corporations through privatization, to the schools, to all the rest of it.
00:29:35.260 Now, the difference between a media figure and a politician, not so clear these days.
00:29:43.360 In fact, the most important thing that most elected politicians do is go on TV.
00:29:47.500 Well, it used to be go on TV.
00:29:48.960 Now that TV doesn't matter as much anymore, it's that they go on podcasts.
00:29:53.080 It's that they go on the internet.
00:29:54.440 It's that they get the message out there.
00:29:57.080 Most members of Congress are sort of glorified press secretaries.
00:30:00.740 Or now maybe a little bit more so because they host their own shows and they get the message
00:30:05.660 out there.
00:30:06.120 But in terms of the real power that they wield, it's not very much.
00:30:10.700 You compare your average member of Congress to your average career bureaucrat, the bureaucrat
00:30:17.600 has way more power.
00:30:19.480 To your average school administrator, that school administrator is going to have a whole lot
00:30:23.900 more power.
00:30:24.360 That's a political problem because the people still have some say with the elected representative.
00:30:31.080 We don't have any say with those unelected bureaucrats who even the president can't really
00:30:35.060 fire.
00:30:36.760 You want to talk about the difference between showbiz and politics here and the overlap?
00:30:41.420 Ron DeSantis, who I think is the greatest governor in the country right now, Ron DeSantis
00:30:45.680 just put out a political ad where he compares himself to Top Gun.
00:30:54.360 Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
00:30:59.460 This is your governor speaking.
00:31:00.920 Today's training evolution, dogfighting, taking on the corporate media.
00:31:05.580 The rules of engagement are as follows.
00:31:08.260 Number one, don't fire unless fired upon.
00:31:11.780 But when they fire, you fire back with overwhelming force.
00:31:15.800 Does it say that in the bill?
00:31:17.860 I'm asking you to tell me what's in the bill.
00:31:19.980 Number two, never ever back down from a fight.
00:31:24.740 If I could complete the question, though.
00:31:26.240 So you're going to give a speech or ask a question?
00:31:28.460 Number three, don't accept their narrative.
00:31:30.860 It's wrong.
00:31:31.040 It's a fake narrative.
00:31:32.260 I just disabused you of the narrative and you don't care about the facts.
00:31:36.280 It's why people don't trust people like you because you peddle false narratives.
00:31:40.740 All right, ladies and gentlemen.
00:31:42.640 Let's turn on the phone.
00:31:44.080 As much as I love Ron DeSantis, and I really love the guy, is as much as I hate this ad.
00:32:02.120 I hate, I, whoever, whoever suggested this ad to the governor should not only be fired,
00:32:09.720 but should probably be imprisoned.
00:32:12.060 Okay, that's how bad this ad is because the ad totally cuts against the whole DeSantis ethos.
00:32:22.120 The whole DeSantis vibe is that he doesn't need to put on a soft shoe in a show
00:32:28.620 and talk himself up and make a big spectacle of himself because he's just really good at governing.
00:32:36.620 That's the whole argument for DeSantis over Trump in 2024 is that DeSantis has all the really good
00:32:46.200 qualities of Trump.
00:32:47.260 He attacks the media.
00:32:48.600 He's got the right instincts.
00:32:49.920 He's right on the issues.
00:32:51.260 But he's much more effective at wielding political power.
00:32:55.040 I'm not saying that's even necessarily true.
00:32:57.080 I'm just saying that's the argument for DeSantis over Trump.
00:33:00.360 And then DeSantis goes out and makes one of these kind of cringeworthy commercials that
00:33:08.040 undercuts that whole argument.
00:33:09.620 The whole argument for DeSantis is he's a serious guy.
00:33:12.780 No, he's not messing around.
00:33:14.840 He's not one of these clown politicians that just goes up and does a little routine and a
00:33:19.680 little vaudeville number and doesn't really do anything.
00:33:22.180 DeSantis is a guy who gets stuff done.
00:33:24.360 He wields political power.
00:33:25.560 He's a tough guy.
00:33:26.300 And then they have him put on a clown suit and dance around.
00:33:28.640 What is wrong with these people?
00:33:34.960 You never, never underestimate the ability of Republican political consultants to clutch
00:33:41.860 defeat from the jaws of victory.
00:33:46.040 DeSantis needs to just forget about this ad.
00:33:49.540 Politicians make mistakes.
00:33:50.540 But just he needs to be aware that he doesn't have to do this stuff.
00:33:56.300 Because he's the real thing.
00:33:58.340 He's the real deal.
00:34:00.420 He could just be the real thing.
00:34:02.240 He doesn't need to be the pretend thing.
00:34:04.740 It's the Meghan Markle problem.
00:34:06.920 Meghan Markle was the real thing.
00:34:08.640 She was an actual princess.
00:34:10.260 And she gave that up to try to play Disney princesses.
00:34:15.060 She was an actual public figure.
00:34:18.440 Royalty.
00:34:19.040 The real deal.
00:34:19.880 And she gave that up to just be the kind of image of a public figure.
00:34:24.820 To just be a facade.
00:34:26.060 To just be someone on a TV screen.
00:34:29.180 To just play pretend.
00:34:30.740 We don't need to.
00:34:31.600 Ron DeSantis doesn't need to play pretend.
00:34:33.380 He's the real thing.
00:34:34.260 We all need to stop playing pretend.
00:34:36.720 And we need to actually do stuff.
00:34:40.240 It's a technological and social problem.
00:34:44.260 It's a problem of our age.
00:34:45.400 We're all just living in virtual reality.
00:34:49.480 We're all just playing pretend.
00:34:51.520 We're all pretending that we're a certain identity on social media.
00:34:56.580 I'm not even talking about media figures or politicians.
00:34:59.400 All of us are doing that.
00:35:00.580 We're putting out a pretend persona.
00:35:03.240 Instead of doing the real thing.
00:35:05.900 We're taking photos that are totally specially tailored.
00:35:09.880 To make it look like we're having a great time.
00:35:12.220 Instead of just actually having a great time.
00:35:13.740 To make it look like our lives are really perfect.
00:35:15.980 Instead of actually working on the habitual virtuous things that make our lives very good.
00:35:21.540 And that lead to human flourishing.
00:35:24.260 Don't do that.
00:35:24.920 Just be the real thing.
00:35:27.920 Speaking of potential presidents.
00:35:30.140 You know how much I hate to say I told you so.
00:35:32.480 You're aware of that.
00:35:34.600 For the past couple of weeks.
00:35:37.200 There has been chatter among the libs.
00:35:41.540 There's been and the squishes.
00:35:42.640 And the whole political class.
00:35:44.440 They've said Liz Cheney might run for president in 2024.
00:35:49.780 Liz Cheney standing up against the Trumpists and the MAGA.
00:35:55.660 The liberals on ABC News.
00:35:57.620 Not just ABC News.
00:35:58.520 But they are I think representative.
00:36:00.880 They were just discussing all the very serious commentators.
00:36:03.600 With their serious ties on.
00:36:05.280 And sitting on network television.
00:36:06.760 And they said Liz Cheney.
00:36:07.700 Oh boy she's going to pose a real problem for Trump.
00:36:11.080 She's going to play a real significant role in the Republican Party.
00:36:15.520 Mark what is your sense on the role that she has taken on?
00:36:21.280 I think she has been.
00:36:23.600 Look I would say that she's unleashed.
00:36:24.960 But she was pretty unleashed before the election.
00:36:26.880 But I think she will be an extremely relevant figure in her party.
00:36:30.380 I think across the board.
00:36:32.000 I think she seems like she is one committed.
00:36:35.580 Not only to sort of take down Donald Trump.
00:36:37.240 But to take down the sickness of her party.
00:36:40.220 Extremely relevant in the Republican Party.
00:36:42.100 She's going to take down Donald Trump.
00:36:43.820 She's going to take down all the MAGA people.
00:36:45.220 So that's what the genius political experts were saying.
00:36:50.100 On this show.
00:36:51.460 Six days ago.
00:36:53.260 I said the opposite.
00:36:54.560 I said no.
00:36:55.540 Liz Cheney is a joke.
00:36:56.880 If she ever runs for president.
00:36:58.920 She's not going to take down Trump.
00:37:00.240 She's not going to be relevant in the Republican Party.
00:37:02.180 If she does anything at all.
00:37:03.780 She's going to hurt Joe Biden.
00:37:05.460 So what's her support nationwide among Republicans?
00:37:08.000 I don't know.
00:37:08.400 Negative 10%.
00:37:09.260 She would be a spoiler for the Democrats.
00:37:11.680 Because the Democrats have gone completely insane.
00:37:13.580 Even the majority of Democrats know that they've gone completely insane.
00:37:17.620 The majority of Democrats don't want Joe Biden to run even in 2024.
00:37:23.940 And because the Democrats have pumped up Liz Cheney as this honorable, maverick, rogue voice of reason.
00:37:30.020 I could see a lot of moderate Democrats possibly pulling the lever for her in 2024.
00:37:37.700 So fine by me, Liz.
00:37:38.660 I truly, truly hope she runs.
00:37:41.380 She will not be a problem for the Republicans.
00:37:45.300 Guess who was right?
00:37:47.840 Guess who was right?
00:37:48.920 You've got the whole stupid political establishment of experts who are geniuses who go on network TV saying one thing.
00:37:55.780 Then you've got little old me.
00:37:57.540 Little old me in my little old studio saying the opposite.
00:38:00.500 Guess who was right?
00:38:01.020 Turns out, I told you so.
00:38:03.180 A news, new report from Yahoo News and YouGov shows that Liz Cheney, if she were to run for president in 2024, would not only not take down Trump, she could single-handedly swing the election to Trump by hurting the Democrats.
00:38:19.280 Democrats, this poll, and it was Yahoo and YouGov, so these are left-wing polls, they found that if there were a one-on-one rematch between Biden and Trump, today Biden would lead by four points among registered voters, 46 to 42.
00:38:35.200 Now, I don't really believe that that would happen, but that's just to show you that the poll is skewing to the left.
00:38:42.560 In a three-way race with Liz Cheney on the ballot, Trump would flip from being four points down to having an eight-point lead over Joe Biden, 40 to 32.
00:38:53.840 Why do I bring it up?
00:38:55.100 Do I bring this up just to toot my own horn?
00:38:58.220 No.
00:38:59.360 No, not just to do that.
00:39:00.940 I bring it up to remind you, and I'm preaching to the choir here, the people that our society exalts as experts are complete idiots who don't know anything or who are intentionally misleading you.
00:39:15.620 They are wrong about statistically everything.
00:39:19.720 They are wrong about Liz Cheney.
00:39:21.780 They were wrong about Trump.
00:39:23.840 They were wrong about Russia collusion and Ukraine's collusion.
00:39:27.020 We always forget about that.
00:39:28.360 They were wrong about, remember net neutrality repeal?
00:39:31.120 All the experts said that if we repealed net neutrality, people would die.
00:39:33.900 Remember that?
00:39:34.360 They're wrong about, that's just one kind of random example.
00:39:37.200 They were wrong about the vaccines.
00:39:39.440 They were wrong about the masks.
00:39:40.820 Even YouTube's, they're wrong about everything.
00:39:42.920 They're wrong about everything.
00:39:44.540 And so if you continue to trust them on anything, I can't help you.
00:39:49.900 You're not going to make it.
00:39:50.780 And I know that even for us hardened conservatives who we don't have really any trust in the establishment anymore, but even for us, when you see the fancy people in the fancy ties on network TV, and they've got really fancy faces, you know, and they look really serious.
00:40:05.780 And they say, Liz Cheney, she's going to be a really relevant figure in her party.
00:40:09.920 Oh, yeah, global warming is going to kill us all in nine years.
00:40:12.560 Uh-huh.
00:40:12.860 Oh, the masks totally work.
00:40:14.400 They super duper work.
00:40:15.580 Uh-huh.
00:40:15.780 The vaccine, if you take the vaccines, you'll never get COVID and you won't spread it.
00:40:19.920 And we're really serious people.
00:40:21.180 It's hard to push back against that because they at least have the facade, the veneer of authority.
00:40:32.760 They don't have any real credibility, but it sort of seems like they do.
00:40:36.040 I had this experience.
00:40:37.460 I may have mentioned it on the show.
00:40:38.940 I went to my 10-year college reunion, and I got to see a lot of my friends, some of whom are former friends because they don't like my political activities in recent years.
00:40:47.960 But I would say probably a fifth of the class, we had a nice time, hung out, had a good time.
00:40:53.520 And a lot of the rest of the class, not only were they frowning at me, but they were frowning in general.
00:40:58.420 I noticed this.
00:40:59.080 A lot of my classmates, I went to a very liberal school, and a lot of these people have gone on to have, according to the New York Times, according to the kind of elite consensus, they've had really good lives.
00:41:15.800 They did all the things they were supposed to do.
00:41:18.980 They went to the fancy school.
00:41:21.360 They didn't settle down and get married.
00:41:23.100 They worked in some kind of liberal company that is considered prestigious.
00:41:30.160 They didn't prioritize their personal life.
00:41:32.120 They moved to the big city.
00:41:33.940 They lived in a little pod.
00:41:35.260 They went to all the restaurants that you're supposed to go to.
00:41:37.660 They only prioritized work, and they read the New York Times, and they read the Atlantic, and they just did all the stuff that the liberal establishment tells you to do,
00:41:44.580 and all the experts tell you to do, and they lock down, and they wore the masks, and they get all the shots, and they take all the advice of the libs, and they're miserable.
00:41:56.440 So many of them.
00:41:59.180 You look at feminism.
00:42:01.400 Feminism, which is one of the most effective political movements in American history, certainly in the last 50, 60 years.
00:42:09.520 Feminism said, we are going to make women happier.
00:42:13.080 Ever since feminism took over in the 1960s, women have become much less happy, both in relative terms to men and in absolute terms.
00:42:21.780 It doesn't give you what it promises it will give you.
00:42:26.440 The experts, the emperor has no clothes.
00:42:29.520 The experts have no wisdom.
00:42:31.060 You really should not believe them.
00:42:34.220 One last point on that Liz Cheney bit.
00:42:36.080 I just noticed people call her a maverick, you know, and it reminds me of one last point on the stupid Ron DeSantis ad.
00:42:43.660 It's just occurring to me now.
00:42:46.140 They are comparing Ron DeSantis to maverick.
00:42:50.020 They're saying he's a maverick.
00:42:51.700 Maverick is the term in politics most associated with John McCain, who is the opposite kind of Republican that DeSantis is.
00:42:58.280 John McCain, not popular anymore, totally squished on the Republicans when it counted, deeply unpopular in the party.
00:43:04.580 You've got Ron DeSantis, who doesn't squish, who's a tough guy, who's conservative, who's very popular.
00:43:09.080 And this stupid ad, it's just hitting me now, is implicitly comparing him to John McCain by calling him a maverick.
00:43:15.060 What are the, ah, what are these people thinking?
00:43:16.800 Ah, drives me crazy.
00:43:18.220 Drives me absolutely crazy.
00:43:22.060 Don't do that.
00:43:22.780 Don't believe the experts, whether you're talking about the expert Washington, D.C. political consultants,
00:43:27.900 or you're talking about the experts in the lab coats at the NIH or anywhere in between.
00:43:31.120 These guys, I'm not saying experts always are idiots, but right now they are, and you shouldn't believe them.
00:43:36.760 Now, speaking of hurting Democrats, as Liz Cheney would do,
00:43:41.560 a New York City official is still crying about the fact that Texas Governor Greg Abbott
00:43:48.600 is shipping up buses of illegal aliens from Texas to New York.
00:43:54.020 Because New York says, we want more and more illegal immigration.
00:43:56.660 Texas says, we really don't.
00:43:57.720 New York says, we're a sanctuary city.
00:43:59.480 And so Texas says, okay, you want them, you got them.
00:44:01.480 They ship them up, and now the New Yorkers are crying.
00:44:03.960 And they're saying, no, we don't actually want them.
00:44:05.520 We just want to make you look bad.
00:44:06.840 We want you to keep them.
00:44:07.720 We don't actually want them.
00:44:08.880 And now, obviously, that's so hypocritical.
00:44:11.640 People are mocking New York City because Governor Abbott called their bluff,
00:44:17.920 and it became clear that the New York Democrats only want illegal immigration elsewhere,
00:44:23.280 in the red states, but not in my backyard.
00:44:25.220 Now the New York City officials are trying to explain that away.
00:44:29.320 They're trying to explain their reticence to take on the illegal aliens that they've encouraged
00:44:32.900 to come to America.
00:44:34.060 And it's because they say they didn't get any warning.
00:44:37.080 Cities in Texas have been dealing with this issue for decades.
00:44:39.980 And now New York City, Washington, D.C., dealing with the same issues right now.
00:44:43.700 I want to put something on the screen right now.
00:44:45.120 This is from the New York Times.
00:44:46.480 They've been covering this pretty in-depth.
00:44:48.180 And this is from over the weekend.
00:44:49.260 They wrote, the city's early response to the influx of migrants was marked by weeks
00:44:54.140 of flailing and missteps, deeply at odds with the give-me-your-huddled masses rhetoric
00:44:59.680 of Mayor Eric Adams.
00:45:00.980 Some families slept at an intake office in the Bronx in violation of the law.
00:45:05.100 Some were separated by bureaucratic snafus.
00:45:07.180 And advocates said the city often failed to provide basics like food, diapers, and medical
00:45:12.060 attention.
00:45:12.680 This is New York City.
00:45:13.820 This is supposed to be the greatest city in the world.
00:45:16.180 So what's happening?
00:45:17.660 Again, Governor Avid did not give us any warning that he would be sending people to New York
00:45:23.820 City.
00:45:24.880 And as nonprofits like Catholic Charities have indicated, they started to receive people
00:45:31.260 out of nowhere.
00:45:31.820 And it's a situation that we are all trying to adjust and meet the moment.
00:45:38.620 That's it.
00:45:39.340 No, we would have really been happy with all the illegal aliens being shipped up here from
00:45:43.540 Texas.
00:45:44.080 It's just, we didn't get any warning.
00:45:47.380 What do you mean you didn't get any warning?
00:45:50.060 Are you telling me that illegal immigration is some new issue in America?
00:45:54.400 America, this hasn't been going on for 50 years now, increasingly.
00:46:00.960 Oh yeah, we just had no idea.
00:46:02.640 What are you talking about?
00:46:03.960 You know about illegal immigration.
00:46:05.480 That's why you call yourself a sanctuary state.
00:46:07.520 That's why you call for more of it.
00:46:10.080 You just didn't think, you didn't think that the governors would call your bluff.
00:46:16.580 You, what happened here is you didn't believe when you, you thought that you could just talk,
00:46:22.900 talk, talk, talk, talk.
00:46:23.760 Oh yeah, we want illegal immigrants.
00:46:25.140 We're the good guys.
00:46:25.860 Those Texas people, they're the bad guys.
00:46:27.540 Oh, we would take them.
00:46:28.720 We would totally take them.
00:46:29.940 We love illegal immigration.
00:46:31.180 And you didn't think that any Republican would actually wield political power to call
00:46:34.680 your bluff.
00:46:35.520 Because you thought that Republicans are all gelded little gimps who just exist to lose
00:46:41.700 with dignity.
00:46:43.120 And they, maybe they occasionally talk a good game, but they don't actually wield power.
00:46:46.580 And then Greg Abbott, who's not even the most right-wing conservative, Greg Abbott wielded
00:46:51.140 power in just a little bit, little bitty way, and you're losing your minds.
00:46:54.820 That's a good message for all the rest of the Republicans.
00:46:59.300 Because by the way, this is popular stuff.
00:47:00.940 I mentioned on the show the other day that the majority of Americans believe that illegal
00:47:05.220 immigration constitutes an invasion.
00:47:07.780 And the libs say this is racist, horrible rhetoric.
00:47:10.000 Poll comes out by Ipsos, shows that 47% of Hispanics agree that illegal immigration across
00:47:17.760 the border is an invasion.
00:47:19.760 Almost half of the Hispanics in this country, I don't think they're racist against Hispanics.
00:47:23.920 They're saying the same thing because it's true.
00:47:25.920 It's a winning issue.
00:47:26.840 Republicans just need to wield a little bit of that power.
00:47:31.320 Now, we've got a lot more coming up in the member block.
00:47:35.280 Our producers have found a viral clip on TikTok of what they tell me is the most intense pronoun
00:47:46.300 explanation.
00:47:46.920 This is going to clear up all the pronoun transgender controversy.
00:47:50.420 They want to play it for me this way.
00:47:51.840 I'll become educated.
00:47:52.840 I'll probably become woke.
00:47:53.960 That is happening right now.
