Ep. 1470 - Conservatives Shut Down In NatCon DISASTER

00:00:00.000 A meeting of the most mainstream conservatives in Europe yesterday was broken up by the Belgian
00:00:05.600 police, who attempted to shut down the event on the grounds that it might have caused a public
00:00:11.520 disorder. Now, to be clear, the European officials did not contend that the NatCon conservatives
00:00:18.200 themselves would cause the public disorder. No, no. That group included a prime minister,
00:00:23.900 members of parliament, intellectuals, journalists, and a bishop, among others. No, no, no. The
00:00:29.760 European officials feared that the mere presence of the mainstream conservatives would cause leftists
00:00:37.360 to become violent. So the conference had to be shut down. The incident was obviously an outrageous
00:00:45.100 injustice, but there was something hilarious about it because it took place in Brussels. This is the
00:00:51.400 de facto seat of the European Union. This is the heart of NATO. This is arguably the center of the
00:00:58.820 Western empire, which now is openly hostile to Western values. I'm Michael Knowles. This is the
00:01:06.420 Michael Knowles Show.
00:01:26.020 Welcome back to the show. A 16-year-old high school student is being punished for using the term
00:01:31.240 illegal alien. I assume he's being punished for being more literate and having a greater facility
00:01:36.880 with the English language than his teachers. We'll get to that in one second. First, though,
00:01:40.920 text Knowles to 98-98-98. The cost of living has already increased 17% this year and continues to rise
00:01:49.160 despite interest rate controls. As our national debt continues to skyrocket, you need to be confident
00:01:54.760 in the financial services companies you work with, especially regarding your money and future.
00:01:59.100 Birch Gold is a proven industry leader that you want on your side. They demonstrate how precious
00:02:03.980 metal investments can fortify your lifestyle and retirement even in turbulent economic times. These
00:02:09.220 days, I bet a lot of people are wishing they had a little bit more gold. Birch Gold understands that
00:02:13.980 navigating financial decisions can be daunting. That is why their expertise, coupled with their customer
00:02:18.520 care process, ensures that your purchase or IRA setup is a breeze. If you're considering converting an
00:02:24.280 existing retirement account into a precious metals IRA, their dedicated in-house IRA department is
00:02:28.840 there to guide you every step of the way, making the process feel as simple as a walk in the park.
00:02:34.380 Birch Gold values your questions and concerns. Their team is always available to provide answers
00:02:38.420 and clarity, whether it's about fees, taxes, on rollovers, or the timing of the process.
00:02:44.000 They are here to ensure you feel heard and informed. Right now, text Knowles, K-N-W-L-A-S,
00:02:48.720 to 98-98-98 to talk to one of Birch Gold's experts and claim your free info kit on gold.
00:02:52.960 You will learn how to convert an existing IRA or 401k into a tax-sheltered IRA in gold.
00:02:56.960 Best part is, it doesn't cost you a penny out of pocket. Text Knowles to 98-98-98. That is Knowles
00:03:01.520 to 98-98-98. During the show yesterday, I was receiving texts from a friend of mine who was at
00:03:09.820 NatCon. I've spoken at NatCon before. NatCon was put together by Yoram Hazoni, the Israeli philosopher
00:03:16.640 who wrote that excellent book on nationalism, The Case for Nationalism, and a lot of other things.
00:03:21.140 There have been marvelous people who have spoken at NatCon, not just yours truly, you know,
00:03:25.640 top one over there, but also people like J.D. Vance. Senator Cruz, I believe, has spoken there.
00:03:32.140 Lots of really influential intellectuals, writers, as I mentioned, priests, bishops. So a friend of
00:03:38.360 mine who's over there, a priest, texts me, says, Michael, are you following what's going on with
00:03:43.660 NatCon? I said, I'll have to look it up. Hold on here. And then I saw that the police were cracking
00:03:51.860 down, shutting down this event. Now, why do I mention all the people that were speaking there?
00:03:56.860 I mentioned them to point out, this is not some fringe group of people. This is not bloggers or
00:04:02.200 people on some unknown social media platform, you know, trafficking in all sorts of extremist ideas.
00:04:10.140 These are the most mainstream people who could even plausibly be called conservative. We're talking
00:04:15.220 about prime ministers. We're talking about members of the European royal family, okay, people who largely go
00:04:21.260 to like ribbon cuttings at shopping malls. We're talking about journalists. What happened to
00:04:26.200 protection for the fourth estate? We're talking about priests, for goodness sakes. You're talking
00:04:30.000 about bishops, okay? Cardinal Mueller, a very prominent, very important bishop and cardinal from
00:04:39.020 Germany, said it was like the Nazis, according to a report. Said it was like the SA coming in saying,
00:04:45.520 nope, sorry, no, no speaking in here. Nigel Farage, speaking of mainstream figures, he was over there.
00:04:52.340 This obviously was not the American NatCon, which I've been happy to go to. This was over in Europe,
00:04:57.060 so focused a little bit more on European leaders. And here is the leader of Brexit, the man who got
00:05:02.140 Britain to pull away from the EU, probably feeling better than he's ever felt in his whole life,
00:05:06.040 describing the scene as it went down. That meeting, over the next two days, you've got
00:05:12.540 the prime minister of Hungary, you've got a bishop, you've got members of the European royal families
00:05:17.240 coming, well-known international businessmen and women, politicians, leaders of parties that will win
00:05:23.700 European elections in countries this year in June. And yet, because they're questioning ever close to
00:05:31.000 the Soviet Union, because they're questioning globalism. They're literally being shut down.
00:05:35.100 This is like the old Soviet Union. No alternative view allowed. I'll tell you what, I might have had
00:05:40.820 my reservations about the way the conservative government have carried out Brexit. If anything
00:05:45.260 convinced me we did the right thing, it was what happened in that place this morning.
00:05:49.880 And I'm sure this is going to convince a lot of other people of that. A big miscalculation,
00:05:55.320 I think, by the globalists yesterday at NatCon. They're going to try to pretend that the national
00:06:03.200 conservatives are Nazis. I think this is a very difficult point to argue. When national
00:06:08.680 conservatism is led by an Israeli philosopher, that's going to be a really hard argument for
00:06:13.260 them to make. They're going to say it's this fringe extreme group. It's going to be really hard when
00:06:16.680 there are multiple prime ministers and heads of state there. It's going to be really difficult to do.
00:06:20.560 They're going to say that this is some, I don't know, nefarious, immoral gathering. It's going to be
00:06:24.440 very difficult when some of the most admired and important prelates and clergy in the world are
00:06:29.400 there. Total, total joke. And this is really going to be helpful for the Euroskeptic point of view.
00:06:35.600 The people who in Europe are skeptical of the European Union, of all these technocrats in
00:06:40.400 Brussels running their lives for them. The people in the United Kingdom who maybe were on the fence
00:06:45.280 about the Brexit. Looking at this, they're going to say, you know, I'm glad that I get to run my own
00:06:48.900 life and these lunatics in Belgium are not running it for me. And it's going to have ripple effects over
00:06:53.880 here in America because there has been a big movement against liberal globalism in recent years.
00:06:59.900 And I think this is just affirmation that this was the right call. President Trump probably, as the
00:07:07.140 leader of the Republican Party, is probably going to lean into his anti-globalist bona fides. And he's
00:07:11.560 going to have every good reason to do that. Speaking of hostility to our values, some Democrats were
00:07:19.760 just asked whether or not they condemned flag burning and death to America chants that have
00:07:27.740 cropped up in the US over the past couple of days. Now, when I say Democrats were asked this, I'm not
00:07:33.780 talking about just random libs on the street. I'm talking about Democrat members of Congress. I'm
00:07:39.120 talking about the squad, some of the most prominent members, Ayanna Pressley, AOC. Here's what they had
00:07:44.240 to say. Anti-Israel protesters blocking the Brooklyn Bridge were burning the American flag and chanting
00:07:50.740 death to America. Do you support that type of protest? Do you support burning the American flag
00:07:59.240 and chanting death to America? Does it sound like this is pro-Palestinian or anti-American if they're
00:08:04.660 burning American flags and chanting death to America? I'm not privy to. I haven't seen these
00:08:11.480 reports. I'd have to check for them myself. Anti-Israel protesters blocking the Brooklyn Bridge
00:08:15.640 burned the American flag and chanting death to America. Do you condemn this type of rhetoric?
00:08:22.040 We've got to get her on to her next event. Are you OK with people burning the American flag?
00:08:27.260 If you'd like to follow up with that stuff. Are you OK with people chanting death to America?
00:08:34.420 Sorry, we've got to head into that. Congresswoman Porter, are you OK with people chanting death to
00:08:38.780 America? Is it OK? Do you not have a problem with it? Happy to reach out here. The only person I feel
00:08:48.720 bad for is this poor Hill staffer who it opens up with Ayanna Pressley, then it moves on to AOC. And
00:08:53.500 then you have this other huge lib, Katie Porter, Democrat member of Congress. And this poor guy who's
00:08:58.880 either her chief of staff or the communications director. So, uh, um, can you, you, uh, please stop
00:09:06.040 asking her questions. He's sort of, I don't mean to be mean to him. He's sort of like Greg from
00:09:10.980 Succession. You know, uh, what do I do with my hands? Like, I don't, oh man, there's, we have to
00:09:15.360 get her into her next event. Into her next event. What are you talking about? You're, you're walking
00:09:18.560 through a gigantic open area. Unless you're going to teleport into the building, you're going to keep
00:09:24.080 walking. You're going to have a chance to answer the question, hey, do you think it's right to burn the
00:09:27.320 American flag? Hey, do you think it might be, uh, not the best thing to chant death to America?
00:09:32.760 Oh, we, uh, we don't, can you please, please email me? Please don't. Why are you, please put the
00:09:38.100 microphone away. Katie Porter won't answer it. Ayanna Pressley won't answer it. Seems like a
00:09:42.280 simple question. I think burning the American flag is bad. I think chanting death to America is bad.
00:09:47.360 AOC, who's a smarter politician than those two, decided to play dumb. So I hadn't, I hadn't heard about
00:09:53.700 that. I'm going to have to look into that. Okay. Well, what about in principle? Do you think it's
00:09:57.300 bad to burn the flag? Do you think it's bad to chant death to America? But they can't condemn it.
00:10:01.380 None of these leftist Democrats can condemn it. Why? Because they would be alienating their base.
00:10:11.160 That's it for the AOCs. I'm not saying for the Chuck Schumers of the world. I'm not saying for the
00:10:16.780 Joe Manchins of the world. I'm not saying it's crazy that I even would consider Chuck Schumer to be a
00:10:21.220 slightly more moderate Democrat. But compared to AOC, he certainly is. Compared to Ayanna Pressley,
00:10:25.940 he certainly is. He doesn't want to abolish all the prisons. For these guys, the squad,
00:10:31.000 their base is the pro-Palestine, purple-haired, you know, death to America, burn the American flag
00:10:37.440 kind of base. Now, the way the libs are going to try to spin this is say, well, you know,
00:10:43.380 you're just coming out against the pro-Palestine protesters. No, I don't. If someone wants to
00:10:47.560 protest for a new state for Palestine, okay, fine, whatever. People protest for all sorts of
00:10:53.160 things. If someone wanted to come out and protest against the state of Israel, that's fine. You can
00:10:57.380 protest against the state of Israel. If someone wanted to burn the Palestinian flag or the Israeli
00:11:03.340 flag, I might have personal views on the prudence of that, but it doesn't really bother me. You can go
00:11:10.240 burn your own property if you want, I guess. But the American flag, the symbol of our country,
00:11:17.320 that's quite another thing. I don't really understand the justification for burning the
00:11:22.820 American flag. If you want to chant death to Palestinian statehood or death to Israel or death
00:11:28.460 to, I don't know, death to Azerbaijan or death to Tibet, I don't, I'm going to have some personal
00:11:33.860 opinions over the wisdom of that, but very different thing than being an American in America,
00:11:40.240 chanting death to America. And the American politician can't condemn that? Excuse me?
00:11:47.460 Well, why is that? It's because what Republicans accused the Democrats of for decades and decades
00:11:54.060 is now manifestly true, which is that the party hates America. They don't like America. They think
00:12:00.900 it's a bad country. They think it was unjustly founded. They think its history is marred by evil
00:12:05.220 and injustice. They think that America should be weaker today, that that would be better for the
00:12:10.220 whole wide world. And the real reason these guys don't want to answer the question is probably
00:12:15.220 deep down, if they had their druthers, they'd be out burning the flag with them. Deep, deep down.
00:12:20.380 They burn the flag in a different way. They burn the flag rhetorically. They burn the flag from their
00:12:25.400 lecterns at the U.S. Congress. But the principle is basically the same. Very difficult to see a strong
00:12:34.140 burning order of patriotism in these sorts of people who blanch at the mere prospect of even meekly
00:12:43.320 condemning the chant, death to America. There is so much more to say. First, though, go to

00:14:09.100 Speaking of our democracy, our sacred democracy, Arizona is requiring an ID to go vote. This is really
00:14:19.660 great news, but it reveals some really bad news. So, Secretary of State of Arizona has this on the
00:14:25.920 website. Important information regarding proof of citizenship. A person is not required to submit
00:14:31.680 proof of citizenship with the voter registration form, but failure to do so means the person will
00:14:36.220 only be eligible to vote in federal elections. Wait, what? Hold on, it goes on. Maybe there's more
00:14:43.860 context. You'll be known as being a federal-only voter. A federal-only voter will become eligible
00:14:51.240 to vote a full ballot in all federal, state, county, and local elections if he or she later provides
00:14:57.600 valid proof of citizenship to the appropriate county recorder's office. Okay, so you have a voter
00:15:03.500 registration form. You can fill out the voter registration form. You can successfully register
00:15:09.240 to vote without an ID, but only in the federal elections. So, if you're voting for, you know,
00:15:15.720 county commissioner of Palookaville, if you're voting for dog catcher in Maricopa County, you need
00:15:22.440 an ID. Your vote will not be counted if you cannot prove that you are who you say you are and that you
00:15:27.480 are an eligible voter. But if you want to vote for president of the United States, oh, you don't need
00:15:31.420 an ID. Who cares? You want to vote for a United States Senate or Congress even? Oh, you don't need an ID.
00:15:37.160 That's fine. Excuse me? Isn't the vote for president a little bit more important than the
00:15:43.560 vote for dog catcher? So, why is there a more stringent voter ID requirement for the latter than
00:15:50.100 for the former? Why is that? Why is Arizona implementing these voter ID measures at all? I
00:15:57.420 thought there was no such thing as voter fraud. I thought that the Democrats never tried to steal
00:16:01.940 elections. I thought this is not a problem. This is a made-up problem by the boogeyman Republicans.
00:16:06.940 So, hold on. What's the advantage here? Is it that Democrats obviously know that it is, that there is
00:16:15.860 such a thing as voter fraud? There is such a thing as voter registration fraud, and they want to make
00:16:20.000 sure they lock down their voters in their state? But maybe, you know, at the federal level,
00:16:24.560 not so big a deal. Why is there one rule for the local and not for the federal?
00:16:32.060 What do Democrats have planned for the federal election? I shudder to think. Speaking of the
00:16:37.000 election, Katie Couric, the longtime host of the Today Show on NBC, just sat down with Bill Maher.
00:16:44.060 Katie Couric has a theory on what motivates the Trump voters. We've always heard it's the racism,
00:16:51.360 it's the hatred, they're evil, they're insurrectionists, they're this, they're that.
00:16:58.080 But one charge that we have not heard in a little while is that they're big, dumb, fat idiots.
00:17:03.300 According to Katie Couric, one of the main drivers behind the Trump movement is anti-intellectualism.
00:17:11.540 When I'm talking about overall income inequality and even taking race out of it, the huge chasm between
00:17:19.800 the uber, uber, uber wealthy and people who don't have $400 in an emergency.
00:17:27.540 Ridiculous.
00:17:28.100 It is, it has never been such a stark divide.
00:17:33.060 Right.
00:17:33.180 And I feel like, to your point, Bill, the socioeconomic disparities are a lot, and class resentment
00:17:42.200 is a lot what, and anti-intellectualism and elitism is what is driving many of these anti-establishment,
00:17:53.420 which are Trump voters, are anti-establishment voters.
00:17:56.240 So, I think that is a huge problem that we have to address.
00:18:02.980 I mean, globalization and, you know, the transition from an industrial to a technological society.
00:18:11.320 I mean, I, and I don't know if you've ever been jealous of some, what someone else has
00:18:17.240 or resentful, it is such a corroding and bitter, almost bile feeling.
00:18:27.140 Right.
00:18:27.520 And I think that when people who are really struggling see people who have everything and
00:18:36.680 are on top of that looking down on them, it is just a recipe for such anger and resentment
00:18:43.640 and grievance.
00:18:45.040 That's, that's it.
00:18:45.760 Those Trump voters, they're just so envious, you know, they're just, they're so greedy,
00:18:50.920 they're jealous, they're petty.
00:18:52.560 Let's, let's take that charge first.
00:18:55.740 There have always been socialists.
00:18:57.680 Well, in recent decades, there, there have been socialists in the Democratic Party, but
00:19:01.800 they usually kept quiet about it.
00:19:03.240 Now they're a little more open about it.
00:19:04.600 They will be card carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America.
00:19:08.520 And, and the Democrats now want to lecture us about envy.
00:19:11.460 There are calls among prominent Democrats.
00:19:16.260 There are initiatives underway by Democrat politicians to take money from white people
00:19:23.760 and give it to black people as reparations for slavery because people are demanding money
00:19:29.820 for something their great, great, great, great, great, great grandfathers probably didn't
00:19:33.200 even do in the case of like recent black immigrants, but, but may have done 400 years ago.
00:19:40.560 But you want to lecture us about envy?
00:19:42.460 You want to lecture us about avarice?
00:19:44.120 You want to lecture us about resentment for what other people have?
00:19:47.400 We are, we are, we are hearing from prominent Democrat politicians that America is stolen
00:19:53.600 land, that we stole it from the indigenous and we need to give it back.
00:19:58.940 But you want to lecture us about, give me a break.
00:20:01.120 I think this is a little bit of projection.
00:20:04.000 The envy, when you talk to the average Republican conservative voter, what do they say?
00:20:07.760 Leave me alone.
00:20:08.600 Stop taking my money.
00:20:10.260 Please stop messing up my life.
00:20:12.320 I just kind of want to have my job and do my thing and have my family.
00:20:15.280 And you guys just keep coming in and taking more of my money and taking more of my rights
00:20:19.060 away and taking and, and messing up my way of life.
00:20:22.900 Give me a break.
00:20:23.780 But, but then to the charge of anti-intellectualism.
00:20:27.080 This is the part that Katie Couric said that I think is fair.
00:20:29.580 I do think there is a strain of anti-intellectualism, not anti-intelligence, not anti-truth, not anti-education,
00:20:41.720 even anti-intellectualism on the right.
00:20:44.740 Why is that?
00:20:45.280 Because our intellectuals don't know the difference between a boy and a girl anymore.
00:20:48.980 That's why.
00:20:50.300 That's why we're a little skeptical of the intellectuals.
00:20:52.700 Because the intellectuals for decades, but especially in recent years, have demonstrated
00:20:58.980 themselves to be complete idiots who don't know anything about anything, who don't know
00:21:04.240 the difference.
00:21:04.700 They don't know what a woman is.
00:21:06.020 That's what that's, remember that Matt's whole movie?
00:21:07.820 That's what that's about.
00:21:09.380 These are people who don't know what a border is.
00:21:11.160 These are people who don't know what a baby is.
00:21:14.240 The intellectuals are big dummies.
00:21:18.380 If the intellectuals in our society, the leading public intellectuals, if they were really smart
00:21:25.080 and really effective and efficient, we wouldn't be so skeptical of them.
00:21:28.460 Our problem with the intellectuals right now is that they don't appear to be very intelligent.
00:21:32.580 They certainly don't appear to be educated.
00:21:34.600 There are some intellectuals who are not quite as prominent because they're not members of
00:21:38.840 the liberal establishment.
00:21:39.980 There are plenty of conservative intellectuals.
00:21:41.460 There are way more serious think tanks on the right than there are on the left.
00:21:45.380 There are way more serious meetings and conventions.
00:21:50.340 There's much more engagement with real intellectual history, real threads of philosophy on the right
00:21:57.880 than there is on the left right now.
00:21:59.880 And what does the left do when that happens?
00:22:01.560 They try to shut it down.
00:22:02.700 When a conservative tries to give a speech on a college campus, what do they do?
00:22:05.960 I've been at the center of this a number of times.
00:22:08.160 They try to shut it down.
00:22:08.980 When a group of mainstream conservatives, including many intellectuals, all organized
00:22:14.000 by a philosopher, decide to hold a conference in Europe, what happens?
00:22:17.820 The libs try to shut it down.
00:22:19.220 That's our problem with the intellectual.
00:22:20.880 That's what's leading to the intellectual, anti-intellectual sentiment right now on the
00:22:26.880 right.
00:22:27.720 Katie Couric says there's an anti-elite sentiment.
00:22:30.140 Right.
00:22:30.520 Because our elites are incompetent and they're stupid and they're leading us off a cliff.
00:22:34.720 That's why we, it's not that we hate elites in general.
00:22:37.660 It's not that we hate intellect, far from it.
00:22:39.940 We just want our elites to care for the common good, to have proper function of their intellect
00:22:45.280 and to do things that are smart and good, not stupid and evil, which is what we're getting.

00:24:42.900 Speaking of education, there's a white student, I'm sorry, there's a group of white students
00:24:51.720 at a high school in New Jersey who have formed a white student union.
00:24:57.780 And this is causing lots of consternation among the administration.
00:25:04.000 Collingswood school district officials and police are investigating incidents of racial
00:25:09.440 bias, including the creation of a so-called white student union at Collingswood High School.
00:25:15.680 Action News Race and Culture reporter Taronda Thomas is live at Collingswood High School
00:25:19.200 with more.
00:25:19.820 And Taronda students say kids in that club often racially harass other students.
00:25:24.540 That's what they say.
00:25:26.900 And high school administrators also informed the district that the students allegedly engaged
00:25:32.220 in unacceptable actions.
00:25:34.140 It was part of an unsanctioned club that students say called itself the white student union.
00:25:40.220 It's been crazy in school, like, since probably like last year.
00:25:43.980 But ninth grader Kimani Washington says racial incidents at Collingswood High School reached
00:25:48.460 a new level recently when several students created what they call the white student union.
00:25:53.360 I saw like a lot of different things in school, like it was like racial slurs.
00:25:59.200 Members of the white student union calling others the N-word.
00:26:02.640 That's just one of the allegations now at the center of the investigation.
00:26:06.020 The Camden County Prosecutor's Office confirms both they and the police department are in
00:26:10.120 the midst of an active and ongoing investigation into the alleged racial incidents.
00:26:14.720 Okay, so a handful of students form a fake club.
00:26:19.820 It's unsanctioned.
00:26:20.900 It's not an official club.
00:26:21.880 It's called the white student union and everything melts down.
00:26:30.060 The entire community goes into chaos.
00:26:33.020 The local news are reporting on this.
00:26:35.880 They're interviewing people.
00:26:36.860 The administration's clamping down.
00:26:38.120 The police are investigating.
00:26:40.140 The police are investigating?
00:26:42.920 Why?
00:26:43.320 Because, according to reports, we have no idea if this is true or not, the white students
00:26:48.920 harassed non-white students.
00:26:51.640 Okay.
00:26:52.080 And if that's true, that's obviously very bad.
00:26:53.920 To me, the more interesting news story, well, it's not a news story, it's never covered because
00:27:00.980 it's just taken as a matter of course, is that this happens every day in the other direction
00:27:07.420 with far more powerful people doing the harassing.
00:27:12.320 The story to me is not three white students reportedly harass non-white students.
00:27:18.500 The story to me is faculty and media and the governing powers regularly harass white students
00:27:25.700 because this was a non-sanctioned white student union.
00:27:29.480 But there are very much sanctioned black student unions at most schools around the country.
00:27:37.620 Every university, at least, has a black student union.
00:27:40.840 I wouldn't be surprised if many high schools have them now, too.
00:27:44.120 And an Asian student group, and a this student group, and a that student group.
00:27:50.220 What is shocking to me here is not that these kids seem to be just like playing a joke.
00:27:55.760 And maybe they did harass students, and that would be bad.
00:27:58.020 And maybe they did say nasty language, and that would be bad.
00:28:01.520 But this is all just a little joke.
00:28:05.880 This is all just a little sideshow that has absolutely no institutional support.
00:28:10.060 What about the AFAM organizations, the black student unions at every school,
00:28:14.700 that regularly promote absolute bile against white students,
00:28:18.780 that say that whiteness is evil, that whiteness needs to be abolished?
00:28:22.960 That it's a call for genocide against white people.
00:28:25.340 That regularly stoke resentment and envy, that say that white people need to pay black people
00:28:31.480 for some historic sin, real or imagined?
00:28:34.900 What about that?
00:28:35.860 Where's the news story for that?
00:28:36.880 Where's the police investigation of that?
00:28:39.140 I don't hear it anywhere.
00:28:40.020 So, what are the students doing?
00:28:43.760 If I didn't know any better, I would view this little stunt as, well,
00:28:50.820 either kids being just sort of edgy and even somewhat idiotic as kids want to be.
00:28:56.800 But at a basic level, I'd probably view this stunt as a natural reaction to the racial animus
00:29:03.060 that is constantly thrown in their direction from every single power center.
00:29:07.840 And it raises an important question, raises an important question over the kind of language
00:29:14.500 that we ought to use in public life, cutting in all sorts of directions.
00:29:20.100 What kind of languages are, obviously we don't, no one wants to normalize the N-word in public
00:29:26.300 life.
00:29:26.700 But you know what else I think we should also probably kick out of public life?
00:29:29.160 All this abolish whiteness stuff.
00:29:30.740 I think that's kind of nasty.
00:29:31.860 I think all of these attacks and insults against white people and against men and against Christians,
00:29:37.600 I think they're pretty nasty too.
00:29:38.820 And I think they ought to be discouraged.
00:29:40.640 Maybe that question comes up.
00:29:42.540 And maybe a question over the black student union.
00:29:46.660 I had a friend in college, freshman year, nice, normal guy.
00:29:52.360 Totally kind of suburban, normal guy, black guy.
00:29:57.260 And then he got involved with the black student union or whatever the group was called in college.
00:30:03.480 And I tell you, man, by the end of college, this guy was Malcolm X.
00:30:07.560 He wasn't really Malcolm X, but he was talking like Malcolm X.
00:30:10.560 He had been indoctrinated into this very resentful kind of worldview.
00:30:15.100 He didn't start out that way.
00:30:16.760 He was indoctrinated into it.
00:30:18.280 It reminded me of the New York radical feminists of the 1970s, where they would hold these meetings
00:30:25.120 and they would take perfectly happy housewives and then they would convince them that they're
00:30:28.980 all miserable and then the housewives would leave and they'd be just angry, screeching,
00:30:33.220 shrewish women.
00:30:34.700 And that's what these groups exist to do.
00:30:37.100 So, okay, how come we can have a black student union and an Asian student union and a Hispanic
00:30:41.060 student union, but you can't have a white student union?
00:30:43.640 Why is that?
00:30:44.880 Isn't that a little strange?
00:30:46.080 I probably wouldn't join any of the student unions.
00:30:49.460 Probably wouldn't join a union.
00:30:51.340 But isn't that a little strange?
00:30:53.380 That seems unstable to me.
00:30:55.140 That seems unsustainable.
00:30:57.540 And it is unsustainable.
00:30:58.920 And as long as you keep pushing the stuff against white people, you're going to get more
00:31:01.900 of these little reactions, these very modest little reactions.
00:31:05.300 And the town's going to melt down over it.
00:31:06.680 Okay, why?
00:31:07.480 Why is the town melting down?
00:31:09.480 What does that tell you about your own double standards?
00:31:11.200 Now, speaking of high school students, there is a 16-year-old high school student in North
00:31:20.000 Carolina.
00:31:20.640 We have to thank our friends over at Lives of TikTok for this story.
00:31:23.920 A 16-year-old high school student who is being punished for using the phrase illegal alien.
00:31:28.720 His name is Christian.
00:31:31.820 If you're watching the show rather than listening to it, you can see a picture of him.
00:31:34.620 Looks like a nice kid.
00:31:35.480 Clean cut kid.
00:31:36.500 His hair's a little bit long, but it's okay.
00:31:37.880 He's a teenage boy.
00:31:39.540 He was suspended for three days after using the term illegal alien in an English assignment
00:31:45.960 because the term is supposedly offensive and disrespectful.
00:31:50.540 Now, his record could be damaged.
00:31:53.360 This could mess up his GPA.
00:31:55.120 This could mess up his academic record.
00:31:57.420 Who knows?
00:31:57.680 This might affect where he goes to college.
00:32:00.620 Why?
00:32:02.000 Because he used a term that is precise.
00:32:06.380 This is the term that until very, very recently was used by our federal government.
00:32:10.820 It's a term that is quite clinical, actually.
00:32:14.760 Illegal means not legal.
00:32:18.500 Alien means foreigner.
00:32:21.540 So illegal alien refers to people who are foreigners, who are citizens or subjects of
00:32:28.340 a foreign state, who come into our country illegally.
00:32:33.940 What term would you like me to use other than illegal alien?
00:32:37.300 What term is that kid supposed to use?
00:32:39.100 Probably what the libs want him to use is a term like an undocumented American.
00:32:46.200 But he's not an American.
00:32:47.880 He's a foreigner.
00:32:48.680 And I'm sure he's got some, he's got documents in his own country.
00:32:51.720 He just doesn't have any documents here.
00:32:53.160 We want you to use the phrase dreamer.
00:32:56.180 Dreamer.
00:32:56.540 I'm a dreamer, man.
00:32:57.200 I have dreams almost every night.
00:32:59.160 But we're not talking about me, right?
00:33:00.540 We're not, we're talking about a kind of a different thing here.
00:33:02.580 Well, we want you to use the phrase future, future citizen, future Democrat voter is actually
00:33:11.180 what they want to use.
00:33:12.280 Well, we are just some euphemism, right?
00:33:14.380 You've, so the kid for his English assignment is using clear, descriptive language rather than
00:33:23.700 mealy-mouthed, prevaricating euphemisms.
00:33:27.280 And the kid is being punished for that.
00:33:29.660 The kid is being punished by his English teacher for writing well.
00:33:34.320 That's where we're at in American education.
00:33:37.300 Great essay.
00:33:38.000 Highly recommended if you're a teenage English student or, well, really, if you're of any
00:33:42.820 age.
00:33:43.920 Called Politics in the English Language by George Orwell, in which Orwell describes how
00:33:48.340 to write clearly and to write well.
00:33:50.960 We want to use simple words.
00:33:52.440 We want to use evocative words, not mealy-mouthed words.
00:33:56.760 We want good old Anglo-Saxon words, you know, not these kind of squishy Latin words.
00:34:02.200 And we want to say what we mean, and we want to mean what we say, and we want an economy
00:34:06.680 of language, and we want to be concise, and we want to be clear.
00:34:10.320 That's what that kid did.
00:34:13.160 And he's being punished for it.
00:34:15.800 Our schools go in, and in sex ed, you're taught that boys are girls and girls are boys.
00:34:20.620 That's not sex education, that's sex maleducation.
00:34:25.140 You go in, and you learn that America is an evil, rotten, terrible country that was founded
00:34:31.300 to promote genocide that was founded in 1619.
00:34:34.760 That's not history, that's anti-history.
00:34:37.520 You go in, you learn common core math, which is usually not math, it's kind of an anti-math.
00:34:43.720 You go in, and you learn that there's no such thing as truth, and we can never know anything
00:34:48.360 about truth.
00:34:48.760 That's not philosophy, that's anti-philosophy.
00:34:50.620 And now, you go into your English class, you write well, and you get points taken off.
00:34:55.260 And maybe you get a mark on your record.
00:34:56.580 You get suspended from school.
00:34:58.880 That's not English language, that's not writing, that's anti-writing, that's anti-rhetoric,
00:35:05.080 that's anti-oratory.
00:35:06.180 That's going to make you dumb.
00:35:08.800 That's maleducation.
00:35:10.320 And the kid is being punished for trying to learn, and to write, and to speak well.
00:35:16.160 I hope the kid gets off the hook, obviously, if there's any way to support him, I don't
00:35:19.260 know how to support him, other than calling some attention to the story, after Libs of
00:35:23.920 TikTok did the same thing.
00:35:25.680 Big problem.
00:35:26.900 You got to pay attention to where your kid's in school.
00:35:28.620 Because even if he squeaks by in this sort of thing, he's obviously at a terrible school.
00:35:34.060 Whatever school district this is, the CD8 High School Spartans, I don't even know what
00:35:38.120 CD stands for.
00:35:38.960 That's obviously a terrible high school, and the teachers who push this kind of stuff should
00:35:44.680 be fired.
00:35:45.620 Not just because they've transgressed some political line, but because they don't do
00:35:52.300 their jobs well.
00:35:53.140 Because this English teacher is teaching students to write poorly.
00:35:56.540 That's really bad.
00:35:57.740 And education's going to stick with you.
00:35:59.600 And if your kid is raised to have his head filled with a bunch of nonsense, and to not
00:36:03.640 even know how to use the English language, well, not only has he missed an opportunity,
00:36:08.340 but you've actually set him up to fail in life.
00:36:12.640 I feel bad for this kid.
00:36:13.740 I feel really bad for all the other students at this high school who are obviously being
00:36:17.300 failed in their education.
00:36:18.800 Now, speaking of misuse of the English language and filling people's heads with lies, NPR,
00:36:25.580 National Public Radio, has a new CEO.
00:36:29.240 And the new CEO is a huge lib.
00:36:32.880 This is, thanks to Chris Ruffo, the, I won't even say conservative intellectual.
00:36:40.660 I won't even say, though he is that.
00:36:42.120 I won't even say conservative journalist, though he is that.
00:36:45.740 Chris Ruffo is a Gramscian political operative for the right.
00:36:51.080 Chris Ruffo is Saul Alinsky for the right.
00:36:54.480 Chris Ruffo is a student of Herbert Marcuse for the right.
00:36:57.840 He is a radical political operative who keeps scoring wins.
00:37:03.820 He got Claudine Gay, the president of Harvard, fired.
00:37:06.120 He's racked up a number of other wins in his career.
00:37:08.080 And now he is absolutely destroying the new CEO of NPR with her own words.
00:37:13.920 We'll get to that in one second.
00:37:14.840 First, though, subscribe to the Michael Knowles Show YouTube channel.
00:37:18.740 Smash that subscribe button.
00:37:19.940 Ring that bell.
00:37:20.880 Ding that dong.
00:37:21.860 Do whatever you got to do.
00:37:22.760 Make sure you get the updates for new videos.
00:37:25.220 My favorite comment yesterday is from Aaron Gomb, who says,
00:37:29.480 the summarized in X minutes titles will never get old.
00:37:33.800 Yeah, what are we going to do today, Mr. Davies?
00:37:36.840 16-year-old kid's plight summarized in 10 seconds.
00:37:41.140 I don't even, who know?
00:37:43.040 I forget.
00:37:43.540 Halfway through this show.
00:37:44.320 I don't know.
00:37:44.640 There's so much going on.
00:37:46.540 Well, what this part of the show is about is the new CEO of NPR.
00:37:50.740 NPR, National Public Radio, receives some public funding.
00:37:54.960 Doesn't it?
00:37:56.400 Should probably be held to a higher standard than the usual partisan media.
00:38:01.660 And so did they hire an objective, serious newsman to take this job?
00:38:05.680 No, they hired this lady.
00:38:07.320 What about the hard things?
00:38:09.300 The places where we are prone to disagreement, say politics and religion?
00:38:14.080 Well, as it turns out, not only does Wikipedia's model work there,
00:38:18.280 it actually works really well.
00:38:20.120 Because in our normal lives, these contentious conversations tend to erupt over disagreement
00:38:26.640 about what the truth actually is.
00:38:29.880 But the people who write these articles, they're not focused on the truth.
00:38:35.260 They're focused on something else, which is the best of what we can know right now.
00:38:40.460 And after seven years of working with these brilliant folks, I've come to believe that
00:38:46.920 they are on to something.
00:38:48.520 That perhaps, for our most tricky disagreements, seeking the truth and seeking to convince others
00:38:56.180 of the truth might not be the right place to start.
00:39:00.080 In fact, our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that's getting in the way
00:39:08.080 of finding common ground and getting things done.
00:39:13.200 The new head of NPR, the face of American public journalism,
00:39:20.100 says that the truth is getting in the way of getting things done.
00:39:25.360 You know, this truth thing is a real hassle for us journalists.
00:39:30.360 And we got to move past the truth.
00:39:32.640 So what would you call a journalistic endeavor that ignores the truth?
00:39:40.160 I guess you would call that fake news.
00:39:44.220 I don't know if Trump is a wizard.
00:39:46.240 I don't know if he got his powers from Dumbledore or Gandalf or wherever.
00:39:49.580 But Trump has this uncanny ability to make his opponents become the caricature of themselves
00:39:57.440 that he paints.
00:39:59.520 And that's what's happened here.
00:40:00.880 The new head of NPR is bragging at a TED Talk about how we need more fake news.
00:40:08.220 And she is now the head of fake news NPR.
00:40:10.320 It's so delicious.
00:40:11.680 Chris Ruffo has pulled up zillions of this woman's old tweets.
00:40:15.680 During BLM, not during the latest BLM, not during, you know, the summer of hate when
00:40:22.500 they burned the country down a few years ago.
00:40:23.900 This is all the way back 10 years ago in 2014, the first time this popped up.
00:40:27.320 The new head of NPR says, protest on Market Street.
00:40:33.440 Muni stopped in both directions.
00:40:35.180 Black lives matter.
00:40:36.340 Black lives matter.
00:40:37.200 Back at, she was an early adopter of BLM before they started torching everything.
00:40:41.100 Now, the New York Times is even reporting.
00:40:43.300 Headline, NPR CEO faces criticism over tweets supporting progressive causes.
00:40:48.200 All sorts of things.
00:40:48.780 You know, even in the subheader right here, apparently this woman, Catherine Marr, claimed
00:40:52.920 that Donald Trump is a racist.
00:40:54.240 All the rest of it.
00:40:55.960 What I love about this is conservatives made this headline happen.
00:41:00.680 Chris Ruffo, specifically, made the New York Times report on this by just digging up
00:41:04.940 this woman's old tweets.
00:41:06.140 But the key here, and Ruffo has bragged about this, is that he's put NPR in a lose-lose
00:41:13.080 situation.
00:41:14.840 What can NPR do now?
00:41:16.980 NPR can either fume, grit its teeth, and then stick by the new CEO, in which case it loses
00:41:24.500 major credibility.
00:41:27.060 I know conservatives who would listen to NPR.
00:41:29.480 NPR used to be the thing that just kind of educated people would have on in the background.
00:41:34.080 No longer.
00:41:36.380 If NPR sticks with the CEO, they are admitting we are a far leftist, joke, fake news organization.
00:41:42.780 Now, maybe they'll do that just to avoid giving Ruffo and the conservatives the win.
00:41:46.880 But what's the alternative?
00:41:48.540 The only alternative is they fire the CEO, because she's obviously not fit for this job.
00:41:53.600 And if they fire the CEO, Ruffo claims another scalp.
00:41:56.600 Those are the two options.
00:42:00.100 What's the good option for NPR here?
00:42:02.260 There is none.
00:42:03.460 This is exactly the kind of position that you want to put your opponent in, where any move
00:42:08.180 they make is a loss.
00:42:10.620 Now, speaking of women in jobs, that's a little bit of a weak segue.
00:42:16.340 But speaking of blonde women in jobs where people are criticizing them for what they've
00:42:22.780 said, Kirsten Dunst is just, you remember Kirsten Dunst?
00:42:26.660 She was an actress.
00:42:27.560 She was in Spider-Man.
00:42:28.580 She has just gone on the record in an interview to complain.
00:42:32.640 I guess this pulls everything full circle on the gospel of envy that keeps cropping up.
00:42:40.220 Katie Couric's accusing the right of that.
00:42:41.820 And really, it seems to be a little more prominent on the left and all of the grievance.
00:42:45.680 And well, here's a grievance from a very famous, very wealthy Hollywood actress, Kirsten Dunst,
00:42:50.900 who's upset that in the movie Spider-Man, she didn't make as much money as her co-star.
00:42:57.820 Hopefully, the way I carve my path will help other, you know, actresses.
00:43:04.680 But I definitely grew up in a time with major pay disparity between the lead actor and myself,
00:43:11.960 even though I had been in Bring It On and he hadn't.
00:43:14.820 You know what I mean?
00:43:15.760 I had more success in my box office than he did.
00:43:20.320 And I was 17.
00:43:21.680 I'm still learning.
00:43:22.580 You know, when you're that age, I'm still learning my taste in film.
00:43:26.260 I didn't even think to ask.
00:43:28.320 I didn't even know there was a place to challenge it.
00:43:31.380 That's how it felt at 17.
00:43:32.660 Oh, it's awful.
00:43:34.120 This poor 17-year-old, extremely wealthy Hollywood starlet was taken advantage of by giving the lead in a very, very popular movie.
00:43:43.240 Or one of the leads in a very, very popular movie.
00:43:45.120 Crucially, not the lead, I guess.
00:43:46.580 Because I'm looking here.
00:43:48.400 Let me just take a look at the cast list.
00:43:51.900 Tobey Maguire, who apparently made more money than her on this movie,
00:43:55.060 he played Spider-Man in the movie Spider-Man.
00:43:59.720 And Kirsten Dunst played Spider-Man's girlfriend.
00:44:04.360 So, they didn't have exactly the same job.
00:44:08.120 This isn't, you know, a disparate pay for the same work.
00:44:12.760 Tobey Maguire was the title character.
00:44:14.280 She says, yeah, but I was more famous than he was going into it.
00:44:16.360 I don't know, maybe you were, but, you know, so what?
00:44:21.140 That's true in a lot of movies.
00:44:22.620 You get a more established actor is in a supporting role.
00:44:25.260 And the newcomer is in a major, but he's Spider-Man.
00:44:28.140 Of course, Spider-Man's going to make more money than Spider-Man's girlfriend in the movie Spider-Man.
00:44:31.700 That's just how it works.
00:44:34.560 And it brings up a broader point about work and all this grievance mongering and all this activism.
00:44:40.680 Which comes down to a leveling kind of egalitarian leftism.
00:44:47.100 You know, this is when the modern liberals really start to sound like actual communists.
00:44:51.660 When they just want everybody to be given the exact same thing for, regardless of the distinctions in their life or the functions they perform.
00:44:59.600 When we hear talk of the wage gap, whether it's in an office or whether it's in Hollywood, we're told that people are paid more or less money for the same work.
00:45:11.400 No two people have the same job.
00:45:14.260 No two people perform the same work.
00:45:16.800 No two people are the same.
00:45:19.060 We're all a little bit different.
00:45:20.480 We all do things a little bit differently.
00:45:21.960 Some people perform their work a little faster.
00:45:23.600 Some people a little less fast.
00:45:24.740 Some negotiate a little harder.
00:45:26.040 Some negotiate a little less hard.
00:45:27.340 Some show up a little early.
00:45:28.620 Some show up a little bit later.
00:45:30.020 We have different roles in our companies.
00:45:32.380 We have different roles in movies.
00:45:33.600 We're all a little bit different.
00:45:35.540 No two people are alike.
00:45:37.560 And beneath this leftist demand for, you know, equal pay for actually unequal work or whatever, is a leftist premise that we're all really the same.
00:45:49.420 We're all kind of interchangeable.
00:45:50.440 We're all just cogs in a machine.
00:45:52.120 Now, Spider-Man and Spider-Man's girlfriend are not interchangeable in the movie Spider-Man.
00:45:55.780 Okay?
00:45:56.040 They're complementary.
00:45:57.100 They're nice.
00:45:58.120 They go together.
00:45:58.760 They make a nice story.
00:46:00.240 But they're not.
00:46:00.940 No two people at a company, at a factory, in the field, anywhere, are totally interchangeable.
00:46:08.700 We're unique.
00:46:10.500 We all have different strengths.
00:46:11.640 And when you want to level and make everything just homogenous and bland and boring, that is not merely an attack on conservatives.
00:46:20.420 It's not merely an attack on this group or that group.
00:46:22.260 It's an attack on humanity where we are all distinct.
00:46:25.580 We all have something that we all have something that we can contribute.
00:46:28.220 And the left wants to erase all of those beautiful distinctions that really do add the spice of life that we once called variety.
00:46:36.400 Now we call it diversity.
00:46:37.500 But they don't really want any such thing.
00:46:39.500 There is no member block today.
00:46:41.820 Because I am in Illinois.
00:46:43.960 Because I was speaking last night at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I was doling out champagne for my real friends and real pain for my sham friends.
00:46:52.680 You can catch that speech.
00:46:53.960 If you want to watch something, in lieu of the member block, you can watch that speech.
00:46:56.820 It's on YouTube right now.
00:46:58.100 Obviously, it just went up fairly recently.
00:47:00.400 But I need to flee this state.
00:47:02.160 Because otherwise, I'm going to get the Illinois ickies.
00:47:06.260 The lib stuff.
00:47:07.480 I know there's a lot of good conservatives in the middle.
00:47:09.400 But I'm in a very liberal part of Illinois.
00:47:11.780 I've got to get to Chicago.
00:47:12.940 And I don't want them to get me.
00:47:14.600 So I've got to flee.
00:47:16.540 We will have member block again tomorrow.
00:47:18.580 The member segmentum.
00:47:19.940 In the meantime, I'm Michael Knowles.
00:47:21.220 This is the Michael Knowles Show.
00:47:22.240 See you then.
