00:00:00.000 Several days after panicans screeched about President Trump's betraying MAGA by going to
00:00:06.620 war with Iran, President Trump still has not gone to war with Iran. And now that he's made
00:00:13.920 a major announcement about Iran, the doomers and the panicans once again look ridiculous,
00:00:19.680 and the rest of us who remained calm are once again vindicated. How much I hate to say,
00:00:26.640 I told you so. I'm Michael Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles Show.
00:00:30.000 Welcome back to the show. The European Space Agency says that humans will be living on Mars
00:00:53.820 in space oases in 15 years. I have very strong feelings about this prediction.
00:01:01.500 I have many more opinions, deep, closely felt opinions, which I'll tell you in one moment.
00:01:08.460 First, I want you to go to tryarmra.com slash Knowles. Ever wonder what gives elite athletes,
00:01:13.500 business moguls, and high performers their edge? Many are turning to Armra colostrum.

00:01:23.200 nutrients that work at the cellular level. Armra helps build lean muscle, speeds up recovery time,
00:01:28.680 and enhances overall performance without relying on artificial stimulants or synthetic ingredients.

00:01:38.000 advantage in your daily life, Armra colostrum optimizes your body's systems for peak performance
00:01:42.820 and sustained energy. Research has demonstrated that colostrum does more than just strength and
00:01:47.540 performance. It enhances your body's ability to absorb essential nutrients, support the development
00:01:51.820 of lean muscle mass, and improve endurance. At the same time, it works at the cellular level to
00:01:56.920 accelerate repair and regeneration, helping you bounce back faster after intense physical exertion.
00:02:02.980 Now, you know, I'm not the most athletic guy in the world, but Mr. Davies is kind of a beefcake,
00:02:07.360 you know, and swears by this stuff. We have worked out a special offer for our audience. Receive 15%
00:02:11.940 off your first order. Go to tryarmra.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S, or enter K-N-O-W-L-E-S to
00:02:18.040 get 15% off your first order. That is T-R-Y-A-R-M-R-A dot com slash Knowles. President Trump
00:02:26.420 still has not gone to war with Iran. He was asked directly by a reporter, are you going to strike
00:02:32.640 Iran? And he laughed. He said, yeah, yeah, I'm going to tell you that. Yeah, yeah. Hey guys,
00:02:36.340 he's talking to guys behind him in hard hats. Hey guys, get a load of this one. Hey, yeah. Oh,
00:02:40.240 I'm definitely going to tell you. He goes, here's my answer. Maybe I will, and maybe I won't.
00:02:46.120 So now we're getting a more formal official answer from the White House, from Press Secretary
00:02:52.020 Caroline Levitt, who had this to say on the president's decision.
00:02:57.620 Now, regarding the ongoing situation in Iran, I know there has been a lot of speculation amongst
00:03:03.060 all of you in the media regarding the president's decision-making and whether or not the United
00:03:07.560 States will be directly involved. In light of that news, I have a message directly from
00:03:12.260 the president, and I quote, based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations
00:03:17.840 that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether
00:03:23.440 or not to go within the next two weeks. That's a quote directly from the president for all of
00:03:28.780 you today. Okay, I have my formal announcement of what's going to happen. I'll tell you maybe in
00:03:34.380 like two weeks, maybe. Again, I love it. I love the uncertainty here. So what he's saying is not that
00:03:42.600 Iran is going to get a two-week reprieve. That's how some people on social media were interpreting
00:03:47.260 this. That's clearly not what she's saying. What she's saying is the Iranians have two weeks
00:03:53.180 at most to give up their nuclear program. That's what Trump is saying. When Trump says total
00:03:59.000 surrender, I don't think he's talking about regime change. I don't think he's talking about the
00:04:02.340 Ayatollah turning himself in and getting handcuffed. I think he's saying, give up your entire nuclear
00:04:07.620 program and we'll let you live and we'll move on. And you have at most two weeks. You had 60 days.
00:04:13.600 You didn't make a deal in 60 days. So we killed all of your, sorry, the Israelis with maybe a little
00:04:18.560 help from the United States. Killed all of your top guys and your nuclear negotiators. Okay, so now
00:04:24.060 we're going to get some new people in there. I'm giving you a little reprieve one more time,
00:04:27.740 but it's two weeks at most. So the way that Caroline Levitt has phrased this,
00:04:32.900 Trump could strike at any time, but he's still giving the opportunity for negotiation.
00:04:38.760 So the question then is, why is Trump urging caution? And there's an article from The Guardian out
00:04:44.440 that I think gets to it a little bit. Now, again, you never know. Obviously,
00:04:50.700 there are leaks coming out of the White House. You never know to trust the leakers. But
00:04:53.660 the headline is, Trump caution on Iran strike linked to doubts over bunker buster bomb,
00:04:58.240 officials say. So the United States involvement, beyond just shooting down some missiles that are
00:05:04.000 aimed at Israel, beyond just providing broader support, the Americans getting really actively
00:05:10.240 involved, would have to do with bunker buster bombs. So there's one big nuclear facility
00:05:16.840 that the Israelis don't have the capacity to destroy. So they want the United States to fly
00:05:22.920 B-2s or something right over there and just drop bunker busters on the targets. So the problem is,
00:05:30.660 according to this reporting, the bunker buster wouldn't get it done. If the so-called bunker buster
00:05:36.840 bomb were guaranteed to destroy the critical uranium enrichment facility at Fordow, then Trump would
00:05:43.980 maybe consider doing it. However, this according to the reporting from The Guardian, the effectiveness
00:05:49.620 of GBU-57s has been a topic of deep contention at the Pentagon since the start of President Trump's
00:05:56.900 term. According to two defense officials who were briefed that perhaps only a tactical nuclear weapon
00:06:03.180 could be capable of destroying Fordow because of how deeply it is located.
00:06:08.340 So now we're talking about escalation. This would be the third time ever that a nuclear weapon has
00:06:14.760 been used on the battlefield. And it would be the third time the United States has used one. So we
00:06:19.480 have not, since World War II, crossed that line. Even though conventional weapons can cause more damage
00:06:25.460 than nuclear weapons in certain cases, we just haven't done that. And there's a major risk to using a
00:06:31.720 tactical nuclear weapon. Even if it would get the job done, it would eliminate Iran's nuclear program.
00:06:36.600 The unintended consequences of that could be massive. It could lead to a nuclear arms race
00:06:41.740 around the region, all around the world. It would just radically change the rules of war.
00:06:46.200 Everyone has thus far, including all of the nuclear states, including all of the nasty nuclear states,
00:06:51.120 like Pakistan and North Korea, we've all agreed we're just not going to go there
00:06:55.400 since World War II. This would totally change war. So I think Trump is smart. According to this
00:07:01.300 reporting, Trump is not considering using a tactical nuclear weapon on Fordow. And the possibility was
00:07:06.580 not presented by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in meetings
00:07:11.120 in the White House Situation Room. But the defense officials who received the briefing were told that
00:07:15.840 using conventional bombs, even as part of a wider strike package of several GBU-57s, would not penetrate
00:07:23.120 deep enough underground. And that is, and that it would only do enough damage to collapse the tunnels
00:07:27.780 and bury it under rubble. So it would cause a big problem for Iran's nuclear program,
00:07:31.160 but it wouldn't end it. And so I think what we're seeing here in this two-week,
00:07:36.420 up to two-week reprieve for the Iranians to negotiate, what we're seeing here is the U.S.
00:07:41.720 interest and the Israeli interest diverge. The Israeli interest from the beginning has been
00:07:47.060 regime change. And there are plenty of people in America who want regime change in Iran too.
00:07:51.640 But that's what Israel is after. The reason this war is happening now is not because Iran is five
00:07:56.720 seconds away from a nuclear bomb. We've been hearing that since the 80s. And sometimes they've
00:08:00.360 gotten closer than others. And the Israelis and the Americans have done a good job setting that back.
00:08:04.480 But that's not why. The reason why is that the attack on Iran is the apotheosis of the war in Gaza,
00:08:10.180 which began when Hamas invaded Israel on October 7th, 2023. So at that point, Israel says, okay,
00:08:17.820 you got all of these little tentacles. You got Hamas, you got Hezbollah, you've got the Houthis,
00:08:23.060 and they're all just the tentacles from Iran. So we're going to go in, we're going to cut off the
00:08:27.420 head. I think that is the strategic objective for Israel. And so, okay, the Gaza war is finally
00:08:32.640 wrapping up. There's not very much more to do there, even though Hamas still has hostages. So
00:08:37.200 you know what? We're going all the way. We want regime change in Iran. That I think is not the
00:08:42.260 American objective. I don't think America's chief aim here is regime change. Sure, we've helped the
00:08:48.820 Shah over the years or the crown prince, Risa Pahlavi. Sure, we don't like the Ayatollah. Sure,
00:08:52.900 the Ayatollah chance death to America. But we're a little skeptical of regime change.
00:08:56.960 So I think if the US could get Iran to denuclearize and keep the Mullahs in charge,
00:09:03.920 Trump would take it, I think. I'm not speaking for him, but that would be my guess.
00:09:09.120 Whereas I don't think Israel would like to take that deal. I think Israel needs to go all the way.
00:09:14.260 In fact, I think Israel cares more about regime change even than the nuclear program.
00:09:20.240 So what's going to happen? Well, we've got some updates here from Israel that I think backs up
00:09:28.260 my thesis, which is that the Ayatollah has bombed an Israeli hospital. The Ayatollah bombed a hospital
00:09:34.660 yesterday, the day before. And Israel has responded and said, okay, guys got to die. Khamenei has to die.
00:09:40.560 According to the Israeli defense minister, Israel Katz, Ali Khamenei can no longer be permitted to
00:09:49.000 exist. What a phrase. I'm going to start using that for my enemies. Oh, yes.
00:09:55.300 Johnny, he can no longer be permitted to exist, I'm afraid. Khamenei openly declares that he wants
00:10:00.960 Israel destroyed. He personally gives the order to fire on hospitals. He considers the destruction of
00:10:04.600 the state of Israel to be a goal. Such a man can no longer be allowed to exist.
00:10:09.740 Now, I think here, I get it from the Israeli perspective. I totally get it. I just think
00:10:13.960 the order of events is backwards here. I don't think that the reason Israel is now saying we
00:10:19.560 got to kill the Ayatollah is because the Ayatollah fired on a hospital, hideous as that is.
00:10:26.220 Israel had already decided it wanted to kill the Ayatollah. I don't think it needed any convincing.
00:10:30.320 I don't think it was an attack on a hospital. That's a fine excuse for it. It's a fine
00:10:34.780 justification or causes belly. But the reason Israel wants to kill the Ayatollah
00:10:39.840 is because the Ayatollah poses an existential threat to Israel. That's what it's about.
00:10:45.140 And so Israel wants to fight that war, they go fight that war. But that's a different
00:10:49.760 goal from the strategic objectives of the United States. And we're going to have two weeks now to
00:10:55.980 see just how far apart those interests diverge. Now, speaking of foreign Muslims,
00:11:04.400 Ilhan Omar has very nasty comments about America. Hold on one second. There's much more to get to.
00:11:10.260 But first, you need to go to oldglorybank.com slash Knowles. Some companies are just now
00:11:16.760 rediscovering patriotism and treating love of country like it's a hot new trend, but not Old
00:11:21.620 Glory Bank. They've been pro-America from the very beginning, back when standing for faith,
00:11:25.800 family, and freedom actually cost something. I love Old Glory Bank. In fact, I was so upset with
00:11:31.400 my other bank that when I heard that Old Glory Bank was open for business and was very pro-American
00:11:38.300 and everything, I sped right on over to make an account. Because it's the bank for people who
00:11:43.960 remember that the Constitution is not just a suggestion. It's a bank that won't cancel you
00:11:47.940 for believing that Easter is about more than a bunny or that the ladies' room is not for men.
00:11:53.080 Especially now, people really worry about political debanking. It's really important.
00:11:56.600 Your money is your money. No DEI or ESG nonsense. Only PSL. And I'm not talking about pumpkin spice
00:12:02.020 lattes. I'm talking about privacy, security, and liberty. Because of their great mobile banking,
00:12:07.080 Old Glory Bank has become the premier bank for the freedom economy with customers in all 50 states.
00:12:12.460 So ask yourself, why are you still banking with banks that hate what you believe? At Old Glory,
00:12:17.380 they don't apologize for loving the American tradition. Join me and go to oldglorybank.com
00:12:21.200 slash Knowles. Make the switch today. Oldglorybank.com slash Knowles takes just a few minutes
00:12:25.620 to open an account and join the right side of banking. Also, folks, a buddy of mine,
00:12:31.620 Mr. Gregory Woodman, has collected a magnificent book of President Trump's tweets. And he has arrayed them
00:12:39.540 in the style of the modernist poet E.E. Cummings. And it's just this really a delightful book,
00:12:46.220 really, really high quality. It's over at the Daily Wire shop right now, dailywire.com
00:12:49.860 slash shop. It is the collected poems of Donald J. Trump. I have said since 2016, since 2015,
00:12:55.540 probably, that Trump has poetic diction in the way he uses language. I'm not even joking about it.
00:12:59.720 Make America Great Again, good short, evocative Saxon words. He's got a knack for language. So anyway,
00:13:06.880 you can get this beautiful poetry book over at dailywire.com slash shop.
00:13:15.080 Ilhan Omar has nasty comments about the country. She has said on Democracy Now!, some fringe show,
00:13:23.740 she has said that America is becoming one of the worst countries in the world.
00:13:27.260 I mean, I grew up in a dictatorship. And I don't even remember ever witnessing anything like that.
00:13:36.620 To have a democracy, a pecan of hope for the world to now be turned into one of the, you know,
00:13:46.480 one of the worst countries where the military are in our streets without any regard for people's
00:13:54.560 constitutional rights. While our president is spending millions of dollars prompting himself
00:14:00.240 up like a failed dictator with a military parade. It is really shocking.
00:14:08.260 It's really, really shocking. One of the worst countries in the world.
00:14:12.380 She obviously doesn't believe that because her family came over here and they were so
00:14:16.820 jubilant when they came to America, the whole family that she actually married one of her family
00:14:21.540 members, her brother, allegedly. So I don't know, they seemed very, very excited when they came here.
00:14:27.000 And she's had a career in not only in America, but in the American government.
00:14:31.460 She, however, is expressing one of the big problems for the Democrats heading into next year,
00:14:38.800 which is that we're heading into the bicesquicentennial, one of my favorite words.
00:14:42.460 The bicesquicentennial, the 250th anniversary birthday of America.
00:14:46.800 Okay. And it's going to be very hard for Democrats because over the course of my lifetime,
00:14:52.440 Democrats have transformed from a party that says, look, we love America. We're patriotic.
00:14:57.680 I mean, you know, we criticize America all the time, but we wrap it in the American flag. You know,
00:15:02.400 we're dissent is patriotic. They've gone from that, which is hiding their contempt for the country
00:15:08.200 behind the American flag to a kind of naked contempt for America and for the American flag,
00:15:13.760 such that when they're having riots in the streets, they won't even wave the American flag.
00:15:17.940 They'll wave the Mexican flag like they did in LA. So that's going to be a big problem
00:15:22.060 because politics 101 is wrap yourself in the flag. Okay. People love their countries. Patriotism is,
00:15:29.280 is a part of human nature, really. It's an extension of the love that you have for your own family
00:15:36.740 is the love for your country. And the Democrats don't love their country. And so you've got a sitting
00:15:41.520 member of Congress, a pretty prominent sitting member of Congress saying America is becoming one
00:15:44.640 of the worst countries in the world. That's, that's a shocking statement. And it, it, it's even more
00:15:51.220 modest than her true belief, I think, which is that America always has been one of the worst countries
00:15:55.200 in the world. And I think it's what Democrats will say openly, if you get a drink into them or you
00:16:00.520 prod them long enough, they'll say, yeah, the country's founded on slavery and it's evil. And they
00:16:05.400 genocided the native Americans and they're horrible to women. And they oppressed the, the long
00:16:10.960 hidden LGBT people who have only received their freedom in the last like six minutes. And, you
00:16:18.000 know, it's just a horrible, oppressive, terrible place. Now, what's funny is they say that out of
00:16:23.760 one side of their mouth, then out of the other side, they say, and that's why you need to open
00:16:26.860 up all the borders and let all the foreign people come here. It's such a terrible, awful, horrific,
00:16:30.860 oppressive place. That's why you got to let all the foreigners come here. Why, why would you,
00:16:34.320 you should close all the borders so that they are not subject to this horrible place. One of the worst
00:16:38.200 countries on earth. They never quite resolve that, but they, they are consistent in their stated
00:16:44.960 contempt for the country. It's going to, going to make a big problem for Democrats next year. And so
00:16:50.740 there were some people saying, well, why is Trump making such a big deal about the 250th? Why does
00:16:54.280 he like the military parades? Why is he making such a big deal about America's birthday? I think for
00:16:58.920 him, why does he just put a gigantic, he put this huge flagpole up on the South lawn of the White
00:17:02.680 House, this gigantic flagpole. I don't even know how big it is. I think it scrapes against the moon.
00:17:08.200 You know, as the, as the moon circles the earth. Why does he do that? I think in part,
00:17:11.960 because he has a legitimate, instinctive love for the country. He hugs, when he hugs the flag and
00:17:16.420 kisses the flag on the campaign trail, I think it's sincere. But, but also there is a political
00:17:20.900 payoff here that, that Republicans can exploit, especially right now in a way we couldn't a
00:17:26.440 quarter century ago, which is that the people love the flag. We love the flag. Democrats openly hate
00:17:33.840 the flag. Wave the flag. Wave the flag. That is like the easiest way you, you can pry votes away
00:17:43.240 from the Democrats and will be very helpful, especially in a midterm election year, like
00:17:46.940 we're going to have next year. Okay. Now, speaking of aliens, we turn from all the illegal aliens who
00:17:53.940 are coming to the worst country in the world, supposedly, to the aliens in outer space.
00:17:57.480 The European space agency says that humans will be living in space oases on Mars in 15 years.
00:18:09.280 This according to the Daily Mail, but it's not just the Daily Mail. If we're just some British
00:18:13.360 tabloid, I'd say, well, that's ridiculous. No, no, it's the ESA. The European NASA has come out and
00:18:20.840 said, we will be living on Mars in space oases in 15 years. And I have a prediction. No, we won't.
00:18:31.740 That won't happen. Bookmark this show. Save this show in your calendar. Just a link to it in,
00:18:39.460 in 2040. And I want you to come back to this and look up. And if we are not living on Mars,
00:18:45.180 then you can tell your boy a thing that I hate to hear, which is that I was right.
00:18:51.280 It's not going to happen. Furthermore, we should not want to. Why do you want to live on Mars?
00:19:00.320 Mars isn't pleasant. Earth is very pleasant, almost like it was a world created for us.
00:19:08.420 It's really nice. And all of the other planets that we've ever observed anywhere suck. They're
00:19:14.960 terrible. You wouldn't want to live there. They're not for you, man. This is like that meme. It's like
00:19:21.940 men will do anything to avoid going to therapy. It's like human beings will do anything but avoid
00:19:29.400 thanking God for creating the stars and the firmament and the beautiful earth. You know,
00:19:34.580 it's Psalm 8. We'll do anything to avoid just like being normal and accepting reality.
00:19:40.760 We will even go to an uninhabitable, dusty, red planet without any water. And we'll live in a
00:19:49.180 test tube, maybe, in our fantasies, best case scenario. So stupid. Why do you want to go to Mars?
00:19:55.460 I don't want to go to Mars. It's not that I don't like exploring. I've traveled all around the world.
00:20:01.400 One of my main men is Christopher Columbus, exploring new lands to spread the gospel for a
00:20:07.640 purpose, not just for a fun vacation, but to spread the gospel, which was one of Columbus's goals,
00:20:13.540 to get rich, which was one of Columbus's goals, but to get rich even for a purpose,
00:20:18.260 according to the historian Carol Delaney, to get rich to fund another crusade,
00:20:21.680 another religious purpose. Okay, I get all that. That's awesome. I'm all for that, man.
00:20:25.560 But to just go to Mars and live in a much less pleasant place just because, that's stupid.
00:20:33.620 That's modern exploration. I'm not into it. I know this is a really unpopular view. What about
00:20:40.040 the spirit of exploration? Yeah, exploration is supposed to be for a purpose, and the purpose
00:20:43.760 has to correspond to your human nature. Well, we just want to go play in the red dust. Why?
00:20:51.300 Why? Exploration is for something. Everything you do should be for something.
00:20:58.440 And Earth is for us, and that's good. That's good, man. Good grief. We're so unpatriotic now
00:21:04.480 that not only do we not have any special love of our country, we no longer even have a special love
00:21:08.920 of our planet. Well, anyway, it's a moot point because we're not living there in 15 years.
00:21:15.120 How much money does the European Space Agency want to bet me? I'm kind of frugal,
00:21:19.800 but I'll bet a lot of money on it. Not seeing it happen. Okay, speaking of the difference
00:21:23.780 between fiction and reality, President Trump has turned on Fox News again. They have a little bit
00:21:30.120 of a love-hate, a little Sam and Diane kind of relationship, and they're in a negative part
00:21:35.980 right now. They're in a valley of their relationship. Why? Because Fox News reported
00:21:42.220 polls that President Trump doesn't like. Hold on one second. Go to peaklife.com. That's P-I-Q-U-E
00:21:48.520 life.com slash Knowles. I want you to think about something that we all often overlook,
00:21:55.360 that is gut health. We live in a world filled with processed junk, rushed meals, energy drinks
00:22:00.220 disguised as productivity. No wonder digestion, metabolism, overall vitality suffer. But there
00:22:05.600 is a better way, and it starts with Puerh tea from peak. Puerh tea. Oh, it's lovely. It's like a Latin
00:22:10.860 word. This is not your average grocery store tea. Puerh is a fermented tea. That's right, fermented.
00:22:18.740 That means it's naturally packed with probiotics, prebiotics, and antioxidants that help your gut
00:22:22.880 do what it's supposed to do. Digest food, observe nutrients, and keep you running like a well-boiled
00:22:28.600 machine. I love black Puerh tea in the morning, in the afternoon for that matter. It's clean,
00:22:34.540 focused energy. You don't have to worry about all those jitters. After the meals, the green Puerh option
00:22:40.860 really helps with that heavy, sluggish feeling. This wonderful peak Puerh tea is wild harvested
00:22:46.920 from 250-year-old trees. No pesticides, no additives, none of that gross modern stuff.
00:22:51.460 It is clean. It's organic. It dissolves instantly in hot or cold water. No bags, no brewing,
00:22:55.640 no nonsense. Here's the best part. Peak is offering my listeners 20% off for life.
00:22:59.880 Not just one order, for life. You will get a free rechargeable frother and glass beaker with the
00:23:04.740 Puerh bundle. They even back it with a 90-day money-back guarantee, so there's no risk in trying it.
00:23:09.360 Head on over to peaklife.com slash Knowles. That is peaklife.com slash Knowles,
00:23:13.340 Canada, B-L-E-S, to get 20% off for life. Your gut will thank you, and so will your brain.
00:23:19.100 The crooked Fox News polls got the election wrong. I won by much more than they said I would
00:23:25.220 and have been biased against me for years. They were always wrong and negative. It's why MAGA
00:23:29.700 hates Fox News. Whoa, big escalation now. Big escalation in the war against Fox.
00:23:34.260 MAGA hates Fox News. And I love this parenthetical. It's why MAGA hates Fox News,
00:23:41.340 even though their anchors are great. Because you'd have to say, hold on, MAGA hates Fox News. You've
00:23:45.340 staffed like half your administration with Fox TV hosts. What do you mean MAGA hates Fox News?
00:23:50.480 No, no, no. He's drawing a distinction between the news corporation and the anchors whom he likes and
00:23:56.280 is friends with. It's why MAGA hates Fox News, even though their anchors are great. This has gone on for
00:24:01.440 years, but they never changed. The incompetent polling company that does their work, now a new
00:24:05.580 Fox News poll comes out this morning, giving me a little more than 50% of the border, and yet the
00:24:09.080 border is miraculously perfect. Nobody was able to come in last month. This is true. Nobody came in.
00:24:15.400 The border crisis was completely fictional. Joe Biden just let them in. When Joe Biden said,
00:24:20.720 I need a new law to fix the border, that was not true. You don't need a new law. Trump didn't need a
00:24:25.220 new law. Trump stopped the illegal crossings completely. Completely. So Trump's saying,
00:24:32.140 I have this amazing border policy. I proved everyone wrong. It could not be more perfect.
00:24:37.060 And Fox's poll is saying that I've only got a little more than 50% approval at the border.
00:24:42.380 He said, 60,000 people came in with Sleepy Joe in the same month last year. I hate fake pollsters.
00:24:47.560 One of the worst, but Fox will never change their discredited pollster. That was one Trump post.
00:24:52.820 And then right afterward, Trump posts this from Greg Kelly's show, which is on Newsmax,
00:24:59.400 on his true social page. What are you kidding me? 56% approval in a brand new Rasmussen poll for
00:25:10.940 President Trump. 56% of the American people think he's doing a great job. That is a landslide.
00:25:18.140 Clip goes on. And that's overall approval. It's not even just approval on the border.
00:25:21.540 So why does Trump post this? I'll tell you. Trump's critics on the left and his sneering,
00:25:27.780 condescending critics on the right will say it's because he's so vain. Oh, this man. He just wants
00:25:34.200 to look at himself in a mirror all day. He's so vain and egotistical. He just cares about the poll
00:25:40.360 numbers more than about actual policy. No. I'm not saying Trump doesn't have an ego or vanity or
00:25:49.140 anything, but that is not vanity. The reason Trump obsesses over the polls is because Trump is a media
00:25:58.020 guy, top of network TV for 15 years, tabloid fixture for 40 years or more at this point.
00:26:06.760 Trump obsesses about the polls because as a media mogul, President Trump understands the relation
00:26:13.580 between perception and reality. President Trump recognizes that not only does, not even primarily,
00:26:20.760 does reality influence perception, but perception can create reality. So if you have
00:26:29.540 polls coming out saying Trump is doing a great job and everyone's happy, all of a sudden people
00:26:36.460 are going to speak openly about that. I'll give you, I'll give you an example of this. That's really
00:26:39.400 concrete. Trump wins the popular vote this year. Trump wins the, or last year, Trump wins the popular
00:26:45.760 vote. Everything changes. All of a sudden you are allowed to talk about how you support Trump.
00:26:51.260 You are encouraged in some ways to talk about how you support Trump. The corporations start dropping
00:26:55.800 all the DEI stuff. They drop pride month. Pride month is, pride month is deader than disco.
00:27:00.840 Everything changes. And I think it wasn't just the electoral college. It was the popular vote.
00:27:06.700 Two weeks prior, two weeks before the election, you were not really allowed to talk about how much you
00:27:11.980 like Trump. You really couldn't wear that MAGA hat to a bar down the street. You
00:27:15.700 certainly couldn't talk about your Trump support at the water cooler. You had to kind of hide it
00:27:21.380 because you felt, yikes, I'm totally under siege. I could be punished by the HR department and DEI.
00:27:27.900 And we got to get ready for pride month and all that. But the minute that people said, hold on,
00:27:32.200 wait, most people are like me. Oh, wait, hold on. My view, which I thought was the minority view
00:27:38.160 that I thought I was going to be punished for. That's what most people think. Oh, forget about that,
00:27:42.420 man. Let's go. Party on. Where's my MAGA hat? Let me put that on my head. Perception can help to
00:27:49.180 create political realities. So he obsesses over the polls, not in a vain way, but in a very practical
00:27:56.240 way. Because he realizes that if the perception is that Trump is mainstream, Trump is popular,
00:28:03.940 people like what he's doing, he can get more of his agenda done. It's not, say what you will about
00:28:10.320 the guy. That is not vain. Okay. So then how's he looking? How's he looking with the electorate?
00:28:16.700 Well, Greg Kelly mentioned that Rasmussen poll there. Rasmussen says that Trump now has,
00:28:21.780 this is according to Breitbart reporting, that Trump has majority support from blacks and Hispanics.
00:28:26.440 Now, I don't know if that, I'm a little skeptical of majority black support. It might just mean that
00:28:30.240 combined he has majority support. But according to the Breitbart reporting for June 8th to 12th,
00:28:37.340 Rasmussen surveying 1,772 likely voters, found that Trump has 53% job approval rating,
00:28:43.120 which is very good, which includes 54% approval from black voters. I don't really believe that
00:28:47.340 number. I think that has to be an error in the analysis. It's because black voters are just so
00:28:52.340 overwhelmingly Democrat. But 53% from Hispanic voters, that checks out. White voters, about the
00:28:57.660 same. Total of 59% of men approve of the job Trump is doing compared to 49% of women.
00:29:04.400 Even 49% of women is pretty good. How about on immigration? According to Economist and YouGov,
00:29:09.980 so not just Rasmussen, which is a right-leaning poll firm, but Rasmussen has a good record.
00:29:14.020 Economist, YouGov shows that Trump has a 4% positive approval on immigration, 49% approved,
00:29:20.620 45% disapproved. That's quite good. That also coincides with the morning consult survey,
00:29:25.660 shows majority of voters, 51% approve Trump's handling of immigration.
00:29:30.780 What this shows you is, Trump has a good political gut, which is something that I've said for a long
00:29:37.180 time. He's obviously reshaped the conservative movement to bring in more Hispanics, to bring in
00:29:41.020 more black people, to bring in more women, to bring in more labor, pro-labor, blue-collar crowd.
00:29:47.780 He's just reshaped the thing. And so when thorny issues come up, like the war in Iran, where he's got
00:29:55.160 to reconcile irreconcilable factions, the war hawks and the doves, where when issues come up like
00:30:00.560 trade, where he's got to reconcile irreconcilable factions, like the protectionists and the free
00:30:04.040 traders, it's why I've given him a little grace on it. And that's why I think J.D. Vance was so
00:30:09.800 smart when he tweeted out his take on the Iran war, which is, look, we don't want Iran to have
00:30:16.040 a nuclear weapon. We're also really skeptical of getting bogged down in wars in the Middle East.
00:30:19.860 And I think Trump has earned a little bit of trust on this kind of issue. That's all I've
00:30:25.660 said. I'm not saying put all your trust in princes or anything like that. I'm just saying
00:30:28.320 the guy, numbers don't lie, man. The numbers don't lie. And the guy is putting big numbers
00:30:34.100 up on the board. So maybe he's got a good political gut. Maybe, you know, the 10 millionth
00:30:40.000 time people say the walls are closing in, he's totally done now. There's no way he can get
00:30:42.780 out of this one. Maybe he's going to get out of this one again, would be my guess.
00:30:46.620 Okay. Speaking of numbers, speaking of big numbers, the call her daddy podcast gal is
00:30:53.960 weighing in on a girl's body counts, weighing in on promiscuity and how that affects relationships
00:31:02.540 and marriages.
00:31:04.400 My boyfriend has a very big issue with my past. He found my list of people I have been with
00:31:10.780 and he was passed. He actually broke up with me initially, but after a while we got back together
00:31:16.460 the issue now is I feel like he is constantly making judgmental comments about me being easy
00:31:21.980 or having a high body count. He always says he's just kidding, but how can I get him to
00:31:26.700 stop caring that I was with guys before him? I feel like every single girl has a list of
00:31:32.140 the guys she's ever been with. Like how fun. I remember the men that have been inside of
00:31:37.260 me and I have a husband and that's okay. This sounds like a really insecure or possessive
00:31:42.620 man. We've all lived. We've all had a good time. And if anything, everyone we've been
00:31:46.400 with prior to has helped us become the person we are today. I think your answer next time
00:31:51.320 he says that if you were just being catty is like, what's your point? I was so easy.
00:31:57.700 What's your point? Do you not want to be with me anymore? He's like, well, no, I'm just saying
00:32:01.780 like I'm really shocked. Like how easy you were. What's your point? What's your point? Are
00:32:07.600 you trying to put me down right now? Or do you want me to get upset? Do you want me to
00:32:11.980 defend myself? Like you let me know what what's your point? What do you want me to do? You
00:32:16.560 want me to leave? You want me to call them? Do you want me to detail everyone for you?
00:32:21.320 Do you want me to pretend you're the first person I've ever had sex with? Like, what do
00:32:24.360 you want? What will make you feel better? You little boy.
00:32:29.560 What do you want? If I were that guy, what I would want is for her to admit that she did
00:32:35.980 something wrong that hurt me, that hurt him, you know, the guy, the boyfriend or the husband
00:32:41.340 in this situation. And just acknowledge that. That's what I would want if I were that guy.
00:32:46.400 She says, what is he sounds like a really possessive guy. If you don't want a possessive
00:32:50.100 guy, why are you married? What was the point? If you don't, if you don't want your husband
00:32:56.520 to feel a bit possessive of you, why are you getting married? Marriage involves possession,
00:33:03.740 involves belonging one to another. Why would you even be in a in a relationship? You know,
00:33:09.860 why would you even date someone in an exclusive way if you don't want to be possessive?
00:33:14.920 Being exclusive means and entails being a little possessive. She did something wrong.
00:33:23.580 Why is the guy making the snide comments? He shouldn't do that either.
00:33:26.520 But the reason he's doing that is because he's hurt. He's hurt because she did something wrong
00:33:31.880 to him, maybe before she even met him. But when a woman is promiscuous, she is doing,
00:33:38.100 she is harming, she is injuring her future husband. Just a fact. And it's going to cause him pain.
00:33:46.680 Even if she hasn't met him yet. Because it's painful to think of the woman you love having done
00:33:52.480 things with other guys. It's painful. Any guy in the world will tell you that. And so, whatever,
00:33:58.620 you know, we all do bad things. And you can move on. And it's whatever. It's this culture that we're
00:34:02.740 in. And we accept that, you know, there are fallen aspects of the world and we try to do better.
00:34:07.840 But you need to acknowledge it. That's the issue. The reason the insecure boyfriend keeps making the
00:34:13.780 snide remarks is because you won't acknowledge that you did something wrong. It was wrong for you to
00:34:18.660 sleep around. And you should acknowledge it, that it was wrong. And you should, I don't know,
00:34:23.860 maybe say you're sorry. Even if you don't, at least acknowledge it. Man, I shouldn't have done
00:34:26.760 that. That was bad, huh? Man, I'm glad I'm better now. I'm glad I've turned my life around. Because
00:34:32.520 part of the insecurity for that guy is, well, hold on. If she didn't think there was anything
00:34:35.520 wrong with that, who knows? Maybe you should do it again. I'm investing my life into this woman.
00:34:41.520 But she didn't treat herself with the value and the dignity that I treat her. There seems to be a
00:34:50.700 mismatch in price here. Who's right? Who's wrong? Yeah, I've really changed, honey. And, you know,
00:34:56.660 I did bad things when I was young, but I've changed. And I've become a more dignified,
00:35:02.780 serious person now. And I'm actually worthy of the love that you've given to me. And maybe I wasn't
00:35:08.140 then, you know? And anyway, I'm sorry. That's it. But the woman can't face it because she's
00:35:12.480 drunk on feminism, which is only going to make the problem worse. And then the guy's going to
00:35:16.680 behave in a feminist way too. Not acting like a man, acting like a little snide girl. Make these
00:35:22.700 little snide comments, these little jokes. But, you know, jokes always have a little element of truth
00:35:26.100 to them. That's it. That's it. And she can help him get over it, but you've got to acknowledge
00:35:30.620 reality. You just have to acknowledge reality at the very least. I'm not sure that they can do this.
00:35:36.360 Okay, there's so much more. So much more to get. There's actually one more thing I want to get to
00:35:41.000 before the mailbag today. And that's the stupid commercial that Eric Swalwell, but you can always
00:35:47.880 count on Eric Swalwell, Democrat member of Congress. He briefly ran for president, as you'll recall.
00:35:55.060 He's best known for having allegedly dated a Chinese spy and for his alleged flatulence on television.
00:36:03.360 Here is the commercial that he just posted that the Democrats are going to run on through the
00:36:07.820 midterms.
00:36:09.820 I had a really good time today.
00:36:12.000 Yeah, me too. I really like...
00:36:13.760 What are you doing?
00:36:15.640 She's coming with us.
00:36:17.120 What are you talking about? Who are you?
00:36:18.700 I'm your Republican congressman. Now that we're in charge, we're rounding up illegals.
00:36:23.420 She was boring here. She's a citizen.
00:36:25.340 I don't care. She looks like one of them.
00:36:28.260 But don't worry. When she's in prison in El Salvador,
00:36:31.280 she'll have lots of company.
00:36:37.340 Give me a break.
00:36:40.740 So, for those of you who are only listening, not watching,
00:36:43.680 it's this really hot chick, you know, with her boyfriend, whatever,
00:36:48.200 and then the girl gets taken away.
00:36:49.480 First of all, the people who are being deported don't look like her.
00:36:53.760 They look more like face-tattooed Satan-worshipping men who are in gangs.
00:36:59.040 So, they don't look like this really hot, basically white...
00:37:02.620 You wouldn't even think she was Hispanic or anything,
00:37:04.600 but regardless, then, you know, the Tom Homan character,
00:37:08.080 the Republican character comes and takes her away.
00:37:10.540 No, that's not really what happens.
00:37:12.500 That's not really what it looks like.
00:37:13.760 No one really believes that.
00:37:15.220 And the killer for this kind of commercial is...
00:37:21.160 That won the popular vote.
00:37:24.780 Whatever that...
00:37:25.640 Whatever the real version of the thing being depicted
00:37:28.200 in the commercial is...
00:37:30.060 That thing won the popular vote.
00:37:33.600 Deporting that liberal guy's girlfriend...
00:37:36.660 Pretty much most people voted for that.
00:37:40.640 Okay?
00:37:41.120 And that's the part that the Democrats haven't adjusted to.
00:37:44.480 Mass deportations are a mainstream majority political issue.
00:37:47.980 And so, they're going to keep making these silly commercials.
00:37:51.300 And the Eric Swalwells of the world can keep posting them.
00:37:53.900 And that's great.
00:37:54.420 And his colleague in the House, Ilhan Omar,
00:37:56.820 can talk about how America's the worst country in the world
00:37:59.140 as we head into the bicesquicentennial.
00:38:01.320 And that's great.
00:38:02.120 Democrats can wave Mexican flags and whine and complain
00:38:05.300 and call America evil.
00:38:06.840 And we'll see you at the ballot box in the midterms.
00:38:09.280 There's a lot happening in the world right now.
00:38:11.120 A lot you need to be aware of.
00:38:12.920 More than ever, you need the truth.
00:38:14.460 The real story behind the headlines.
00:38:15.840 And there's only one place you're going to get it.

00:38:31.160 My favorite comment yesterday is from ITGFP.
00:38:35.480 It says,
00:38:36.000 Michael, you're pretty good at extracting positives
00:38:37.860 from a completely negative situation.
00:38:39.700 I try to do that.
00:38:42.020 I'm a glass half full kind of guy.
00:38:43.440 I'm not an optimist.
00:38:44.980 But I do have hope.
00:38:47.140 I'm not despairing.
00:38:48.720 I think hope is a theological virtue.
00:38:50.320 It's kind of funny because
00:38:51.220 as we've been in this will he, won't he
00:38:53.720 over the war in Iran,
00:38:56.180 some people have,
00:38:58.080 some have criticized me
00:38:59.400 for not being belligerent enough.
00:39:01.720 And some have criticized me
00:39:03.000 for being a war hawk
00:39:04.120 and supposedly advocating war in Iran.
00:39:06.600 I've never done any such thing.
00:39:08.860 Go look for one instance
00:39:10.260 of me encouraging war in Iran.
00:39:12.460 That has not been my approach to this issue.
00:39:14.880 It's not really my approach to a lot of issues.
00:39:17.240 What I've tried to do,
00:39:19.160 especially with this issue,
00:39:20.180 which is so highly debated on the right,
00:39:23.000 is just see what's going on.
00:39:26.080 Say, okay, here are the arguments on one side.
00:39:28.180 Here's what Trump could be thinking on one side.
00:39:30.600 Here's what he could be thinking on the other.
00:39:32.260 Here's what part of the conservative movement is saying.
00:39:34.260 Here's what the other part
00:39:34.820 of the conservative movement is saying.
00:39:36.060 Here's why neither side is completely insane.
00:39:39.580 Here are the best arguments for each side.
00:39:42.340 Here's why it's a difficult issue for the president,
00:39:44.980 especially when you look at two,
00:39:46.840 I took two highly scientific polls on my X account
00:39:49.120 and said, hey, should we allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon?
00:39:53.420 89% no, 11% yes.
00:39:56.080 Should we go to war in Iran?
00:39:57.680 89% no, 11% yes.
00:39:59.760 Those two things are in conflict.
00:40:01.500 Here are the issues.
00:40:03.480 And I don't know.
00:40:05.660 I think Rush Limbaugh usually carried out
00:40:07.300 that kind of strategy here.
00:40:08.340 I'm going to, you know, I'm not going to just scream
00:40:10.500 until I'm red in the face over this policy or that policy.
00:40:12.800 I'm going to tell you what's going on,
00:40:14.480 what the issues are at stake.
00:40:16.500 Maybe gently nudge you one way or the other,
00:40:18.300 but in this case,
00:40:19.620 looks like Trump has arrived at a very good position.
00:40:22.500 Okay.

00:40:28.040 in as little as 10 minutes.
00:40:29.060 Take it away.
00:40:30.400 This may be petty,
00:40:31.440 but since you have a book called Speechless
00:40:33.980 that is all about words,
00:40:36.720 I have to ask you,
00:40:38.320 why do you keep saying GIF
00:40:39.940 when it's graphical interface format?
00:40:44.220 That's like saying I give my kids GIFs
00:40:47.180 or that I am for GIVing.
00:40:50.760 It's GIF for graphical interface format.
00:40:58.500 Please let me know what you think about this.
00:41:00.220 It's like giving your kids Christmas GIFs.
00:41:03.980 Is it?
00:41:04.520 Is it?
00:41:04.840 There's never a hard G.
00:41:07.020 No?
00:41:07.440 When you go to the zoo,
00:41:08.500 do you go look at the giraffes?
00:41:10.340 The giraffes, rather?
00:41:11.720 I messed that one up myself.
00:41:13.660 Do you go,
00:41:15.120 the G can be hard or it can be soft.
00:41:17.920 But furthermore,
00:41:19.540 your argument is that GIF,
00:41:22.540 which is an acronym,
00:41:24.540 Graphic Interface Format,
00:41:26.700 because there's a hard G on graphic,
00:41:29.660 because the G is pronounced G on graphic,
00:41:32.860 and it has to be pronounced G in the acronym.
00:41:37.060 Did a bunch of homosexuals in the 1980s contract AIDS?
00:41:43.160 Did they contract AIDS?
00:41:45.500 Or was it AIDS?
00:41:49.160 Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.
00:41:53.040 Acquired Immuno.
00:41:55.840 AIDS?
00:41:57.100 Was it AIDS?
00:41:57.780 Did we say AIDS?
00:41:58.760 Does the pronunciation of these individual letters in an acronym,
00:42:02.500 which is a word unto itself,
00:42:05.100 not depend upon the pronunciation of the letters
00:42:08.560 in the individual words that make up the acronym?
00:42:10.160 Furthermore,
00:42:12.480 are we linguistic descriptivists
00:42:15.740 or prescriptivists?
00:42:18.580 That is to say,
00:42:19.980 do we have some respect,
00:42:22.200 although language changes,
00:42:23.940 for authority
00:42:25.400 in language?
00:42:27.060 Well, what does the
00:42:28.100 coiner of the term say?
00:42:30.280 He says it's GIF,
00:42:31.820 like the peanut butter.
00:42:33.560 Do you jet it now?
00:42:35.340 Next question.
00:42:38.180 Hi, Michael.
00:42:39.080 I'm a big fan of your show,
00:42:40.280 and I appreciate you taking time
00:42:41.540 to answer my question.
00:42:43.060 Both mine and my husband's parents
00:42:44.520 are divorced,
00:42:45.320 and three of the four of them
00:42:46.200 have quote-unquote remarried.
00:42:47.900 I say quote-unquote
00:42:48.680 because this includes parents
00:42:49.840 that were married in the Catholic Church
00:42:51.300 and have not received an annulment,
00:42:53.080 but are divorced and remarried.
00:42:54.820 We just had our first baby
00:42:56.140 a couple months ago,
00:42:57.220 and some of our parents
00:42:58.220 have started referring to their spouse
00:42:59.640 as a grandparent.
00:43:00.920 My husband and I
00:43:01.580 aren't sure how to respond to this.
00:43:02.900 We don't call any of our step-parents
00:43:04.200 mom or dad.
00:43:04.860 We just use their first names.
00:43:06.780 We believe in the Catholic teaching
00:43:07.900 of marriage
00:43:08.280 and want to be clear
00:43:09.000 on what message we give
00:43:09.820 to our children,
00:43:10.760 but we aren't looking to unnecessarily
00:43:12.220 offend any family members either.
00:43:14.160 Do you think that we should let
00:43:15.100 the step-parents call themselves
00:43:16.300 grandma or grandpa,
00:43:17.280 or should we find an alternative
00:43:18.660 such as calling them
00:43:19.440 by their first name?
00:43:20.640 Thank you again.
00:43:21.560 Pax Domini,
00:43:22.200 Sitz Emper,
00:43:22.900 Vubiscum.
00:43:24.600 Hmm.
00:43:25.660 Et cum spiritu tuo.
00:43:27.760 That's a tough issue
00:43:30.120 that many, many people
00:43:31.620 are facing right now,
00:43:32.500 so you're certainly not alone
00:43:33.400 because you're torn
00:43:34.500 between the good of family
00:43:36.720 and respecting your family
00:43:39.720 and the fourth commandment
00:43:40.540 and all the rest
00:43:41.040 and the wanting to avoid
00:43:44.480 the sin of scandal,
00:43:45.520 scandalizing your kids
00:43:46.640 who see everything,
00:43:49.180 who observe everything,
00:43:50.500 and who you don't want
00:43:51.680 to have them forming
00:43:52.580 their idea of marriage
00:43:53.420 based on this really degenerate
00:43:55.580 kind of modern,
00:43:56.480 everyone remarries
00:43:57.300 a hundred thousand times
00:43:58.260 version of things.
00:43:59.660 So, I get it.
00:44:00.560 Great.
00:44:01.600 I think there is a middle ground,
00:44:03.360 and I like nice moderate
00:44:04.900 via media middle grounds
00:44:06.900 on some of these issues
00:44:08.460 between calling your step-grandparent,
00:44:11.780 who's probably a lovely person,
00:44:14.560 between calling that person
00:44:15.500 grandma and grandpa,
00:44:17.400 or calling them, you know,
00:44:18.960 Bill or Sue.
00:44:20.220 I think the middle ground
00:44:21.200 is come up with
00:44:22.000 a cute little nickname
00:44:23.020 that's not quite,
00:44:23.900 doesn't quite have the dignity
00:44:25.020 and the formality
00:44:27.540 of grandma and grandpa,
00:44:29.100 but is still not so cold
00:44:32.380 and clinical,
00:44:33.060 like Bill or Sue or something.
00:44:34.640 Maybe just come up
00:44:35.340 with a fun one in the middle,
00:44:37.540 you know,
00:44:37.940 like nini, nana, meemaw,
00:44:42.620 you know,
00:44:43.000 like something like that.
00:44:43.720 Something that's kind of fun
00:44:44.860 and familiar
00:44:45.880 and recognizes
00:44:46.880 that you do care
00:44:48.000 for this person
00:44:48.580 and this person
00:44:48.960 is part of your family,
00:44:50.140 but also doesn't give up
00:44:52.040 the meaning of mom and dad
00:44:54.140 and grandma and grandpa.
00:44:55.680 That's what I would do.
00:44:56.500 I would find that
00:44:57.060 kind of a middle ground
00:44:58.320 and in that way,
00:45:01.220 you know,
00:45:01.500 minimize the scandal
00:45:02.620 that will,
00:45:03.320 some scandal inevitably
00:45:04.280 will come to your kids
00:45:05.420 because of these actions,
00:45:07.340 but also will preserve
00:45:09.720 the good of the family.
00:45:10.640 That's what I would do.
00:45:11.260 Okay, next question.
00:45:12.860 Hey, Michael.
00:45:14.260 I'm a huge fan of you guys
00:45:16.120 and everything that y'all do.
00:45:18.040 I've been a long-time listener.
00:45:19.760 My question is
00:45:21.020 kind of a rebuttal
00:45:21.960 to one of the questions
00:45:24.840 from last week
00:45:25.820 where a guy had brought up
00:45:26.960 the concept of faith alone.
00:45:29.220 I'm a Baptist
00:45:29.860 and I believe faith alone,
00:45:32.600 but you had said
00:45:34.180 the only time
00:45:34.820 that faith alone
00:45:35.680 was referenced in the Bible
00:45:37.800 was in James
00:45:38.700 and that it was actually
00:45:39.960 refuting the concept
00:45:41.280 of faith alone.
00:45:42.680 I feel like it's
00:45:43.260 an intellectually dishonest
00:45:44.780 argument to make
00:45:45.780 when there are numerous
00:45:47.540 other times
00:45:48.160 that it's discussed
00:45:49.460 in the Bible,
00:45:50.020 but it is not
00:45:52.040 using those exact words.
00:45:54.840 For instance,
00:45:55.920 John 3.16,
00:45:57.720 for God so loved the world
00:45:58.800 that he sent
00:45:59.420 his only begotten son
00:46:00.600 that whosoever
00:46:01.720 shall believe in him
00:46:03.000 will not perish
00:46:04.160 but have eternal life.
00:46:05.840 To me,
00:46:06.560 that sounds
00:46:07.340 a lot like
00:46:08.220 faith alone.
00:46:09.320 So,
00:46:09.680 I kind of wanted
00:46:10.140 to get your opinion
00:46:10.760 on this
00:46:11.280 and see if this changes
00:46:12.480 your thoughts
00:46:14.600 in any way
00:46:15.320 on the subject.
00:46:16.440 Thank you.
00:46:16.860 It does not,
00:46:18.320 but that's a very good
00:46:19.680 point to raise
00:46:21.500 and I think a lot
00:46:22.640 of people would raise
00:46:23.180 and say,
00:46:23.480 well,
00:46:23.520 hold on,
00:46:23.720 I read John 3.16,
00:46:25.340 it says,
00:46:25.780 all I have to do
00:46:26.440 is believe in Jesus
00:46:27.920 and then I can,
00:46:29.680 notice the phrasing
00:46:30.720 is not,
00:46:31.520 will have everlasting life
00:46:32.460 but can have everlasting life
00:46:33.920 or may have everlasting life.
00:46:36.140 But regardless,
00:46:38.400 that's actually secondary
00:46:39.560 to the point here
00:46:40.620 because the real question,
00:46:42.200 I'm going to do
00:46:42.580 my best Jordan Peterson impression,
00:46:44.180 well,
00:46:44.480 you know,
00:46:44.800 bucko,
00:46:45.140 it depends on what you mean
00:46:46.340 by believe.
00:46:48.080 And really,
00:46:48.820 it does.
00:46:49.800 What is meant
00:46:50.560 by believe here?
00:46:51.340 Because you're talking
00:46:52.000 about John chapter 3,
00:46:53.480 what happens
00:46:53.940 when you fast forward
00:46:54.620 to John chapter 6?
00:46:55.840 So,
00:46:56.040 the very same gospel,
00:46:58.420 Christ says,
00:47:00.960 whoever does not eat
00:47:02.900 the flesh of the son of man
00:47:04.580 and drink his blood
00:47:05.720 has no life in him.
00:47:07.560 The flesh of man
00:47:08.280 is true food,
00:47:09.340 the blood of the son,
00:47:10.400 the flesh of the son of man
00:47:11.420 is true food,
00:47:12.040 the blood of the son of man
00:47:12.820 is true drink,
00:47:14.120 and you have to eat my flesh
00:47:15.200 and drink my blood
00:47:15.900 to have life in you.
00:47:17.520 And the Jews argue
00:47:18.980 among themselves
00:47:19.660 because they're shocked by this
00:47:21.320 and a lot of the disciples
00:47:22.760 go away.
00:47:23.500 So,
00:47:23.660 this is clearly
00:47:24.260 a shocking statement,
00:47:25.660 as shocking as it sounds
00:47:26.820 as I'm saying it to you now.
00:47:28.340 And Peter does not go away
00:47:29.380 and the apostles
00:47:29.740 do not go away.
00:47:31.180 And then you see
00:47:32.020 the sacrament formalized
00:47:34.040 in the Last Supper.
00:47:36.140 This bread is my body,
00:47:37.660 it's given up for you.
00:47:38.680 This wine is my blood
00:47:40.420 given up for you.
00:47:42.160 Eat the bread,
00:47:43.280 drink the wine,
00:47:44.680 drink which is my body
00:47:46.280 and do this in memory of me.
00:47:48.460 So,
00:47:48.880 is that a work?
00:47:50.360 You know,
00:47:50.580 is that our Lord
00:47:51.460 giving us a work?
00:47:52.140 Well,
00:47:52.240 it's our Lord
00:47:52.580 giving us a sacrament.
00:47:54.620 He's saying to do certain things.
00:47:56.040 He's saying belief
00:47:56.740 looks like certain things.
00:47:58.020 When people go and touch
00:47:58.800 the hem of his garment,
00:47:59.580 they're doing something,
00:48:00.360 they're touching something.
00:48:01.300 It's not just all in their head.
00:48:03.520 When our Lord
00:48:04.700 gives the Great Commission
00:48:05.760 to the apostles
00:48:06.320 and says,
00:48:06.760 go make disciples
00:48:07.280 of all nations,
00:48:07.920 he's giving them
00:48:08.340 a work to do.
00:48:09.920 Yes.
00:48:11.660 Not to earn your salvation
00:48:13.100 like the Pelagians,
00:48:14.140 but also not to just,
00:48:15.280 you know,
00:48:15.480 close your eyes
00:48:16.240 and think beautiful thoughts
00:48:17.940 and then you'll be saved
00:48:18.860 in that way either.
00:48:19.760 That's not,
00:48:20.360 neither of those things
00:48:21.280 are exactly right.
00:48:23.100 When our Lord says
00:48:23.980 to the apostles,
00:48:25.520 go and forgive sins,
00:48:26.500 you have the power
00:48:26.940 to forgive sins,
00:48:27.780 to forgive and retain sins.
00:48:29.900 He's giving them,
00:48:31.060 it's not,
00:48:31.280 is it a work?
00:48:32.460 Is it just closing your eyes
00:48:34.040 and having some kind
00:48:35.080 of totally abstracted faith?
00:48:36.120 No, it's a sacrament.
00:48:37.500 You know,
00:48:37.700 it's a sacramental religion.
00:48:39.820 So this is why
00:48:40.540 it's important to say,
00:48:41.440 yeah, yeah,
00:48:42.600 we're saved
00:48:43.700 by our faith in Christ.
00:48:45.840 God's grace
00:48:46.400 comes down the mountain,
00:48:47.220 but we cooperate
00:48:47.840 with God's grace.
00:48:49.060 As St. Thomas Aquinas
00:48:49.760 quotes St. Augustine
00:48:50.920 in the Summa,
00:48:53.240 says, you know,
00:48:53.900 God made you
00:48:54.920 without your participation,
00:48:55.880 but he won't save you
00:48:56.520 without your participation.
00:48:57.600 He saved you,
00:48:58.120 he's the one doing it.
00:48:59.500 It's not your,
00:49:00.300 you know,
00:49:00.580 you're saving yourself
00:49:01.400 or anything like that.
00:49:02.600 But belief
00:49:03.340 looks like something.
00:49:05.240 It entails
00:49:06.000 doing things,
00:49:07.580 which is how
00:49:08.180 you reconcile,
00:49:09.600 you know,
00:49:10.080 what you would
00:49:10.580 seem to be
00:49:11.580 this notion
00:49:12.340 of faith alone
00:49:13.080 in John 3.16
00:49:14.080 with James.
00:49:16.720 James 2.24,
00:49:17.980 right?
00:49:18.220 It says that
00:49:18.660 you are justified
00:49:20.240 by works
00:49:21.040 and not by faith alone,
00:49:22.640 which is the only time
00:49:23.300 that the phrase
00:49:23.640 faith alone
00:49:24.440 appears in the Bible.
00:49:25.360 So that's how
00:49:27.440 you reconcile.
00:49:27.840 When you look at it
00:49:28.280 and you say,
00:49:28.520 well, hold on,
00:49:28.960 I don't know how to,
00:49:30.120 this seems to me like
00:49:31.160 it means this thing,
00:49:32.320 but this phrase
00:49:33.080 seems like it means
00:49:33.640 some other thing.
00:49:34.540 Well, the only way
00:49:35.640 then to understand
00:49:36.460 the entirety
00:49:37.480 of the gospel message
00:49:39.520 and of the faith
00:49:40.780 is with an interpretive
00:49:42.620 hermeneutic
00:49:43.280 that makes sense
00:49:44.160 of all of it.
00:49:44.720 So you can't just
00:49:45.340 pick and choose.
00:49:46.140 When you try to pick
00:49:46.880 and choose,
00:49:47.340 that's what creates schism.
00:49:48.980 Even the word heresy,
00:49:50.520 which we use
00:49:50.880 as kind of a scare word
00:49:51.660 right now,
00:49:52.380 but the word heresy,
00:49:53.120 heresis,
00:49:53.680 just means to choose.
00:49:54.420 So you don't want
00:49:55.940 to just choose.
00:49:56.520 Even among Catholics,
00:49:57.300 you don't want
00:49:57.600 to just be a cafeteria Catholic.
00:49:59.120 You know,
00:49:59.240 you pick this.
00:50:00.020 Oh, I like this.
00:50:01.320 Yeah, I like the jello salad.
00:50:03.460 I don't really like
00:50:04.360 the chickpeas.
00:50:05.200 No, no, no.
00:50:05.480 You gotta,
00:50:06.300 it's gotta be the whole thing.
00:50:07.000 It's gotta all make sense together,
00:50:08.840 including what is meant by faith
00:50:11.800 and what we do
00:50:13.620 that expresses faith.
00:50:14.980 Because as James also points out,
00:50:16.500 faith without works is dead.
00:50:18.160 Okay.
00:50:19.560 It's fake headline Friday.
