00:00:10.200 Owens. Andrew had suggested me as moderator, and Candace accepted, and then they started arranging
00:00:16.240 the details of the debate. There was just one person they forgot to ask. From what I've gathered,
00:00:21.620 the debate apparently involves big money, hundreds of thousands of dollars raised as prize money or
00:00:26.940 something. I'm actually not totally sure what the purpose of the money is. I think I'm even being
00:00:31.580 offered a cut. In any case, after giving it serious consideration over the weekend, I will
00:00:37.220 be declining the invitation. The whole internet seems to think this debate will be must-see
00:00:42.600 content, and I'm sure it will be. I bet it'll get zillions of views. That is, in fact, why I'm
00:00:49.500 declining. I'm gratified that the debaters think I have the right temperament to moderate.
00:00:54.860 I try to be judicious, not get too emotional, not call people names, and so on.
00:01:01.120 But in many ways, I'm probably the single worst person to moderate this debate.
00:01:07.360 Because for 10 or 11 months now, I have been very possibly the only person on the internet
00:01:13.180 who has consistently maintained that our friend's murder should not be used for podcast content.
00:01:19.880 On the debate matter itself, I've said many times, I think the evidence is pretty clear
00:01:24.160 that Tyler Robinson murdered Charlie.
00:01:26.500 But that fact alone would not preclude me from moderating.
00:01:29.800 Everyone has opinions, doesn't mean you can't be fair.
00:01:32.780 The bigger issue is that even if I didn't think
00:01:36.560 Tyler Robinson murdered Charlie,
00:01:38.720 I am certainly convinced that the guilt for Charlie's murder
00:01:42.080 should be adjudicated with gravity and sobriety
00:01:44.920 in a court of law, rather than in an ouroboros
00:01:48.660 of endless, not to mention lucrative podcasts.
00:01:51.620 The only silver lining in the storm cloud of Charlie's murder was the brief unity it brought to the right.

00:02:00.640 The right came together as leftists at every level of politics revealed their rot and cruelty by justifying and celebrating Charlie's murder, in some cases before his body was even cold.
00:02:12.840 Soon after, however, a cottage industry sprung up of Charlie murder content.
00:02:17.820 Candace, of course, launched her series on the subject,
00:02:20.600 which I've said many times from the beginning I thought was wrong,
00:02:23.120 and I wish she wouldn't do it.

00:02:32.320 full-length shows, weeks of shows, months of shows,
00:02:35.760 about how much they hated Candace's shows about Charlie's murder.

00:02:45.680 was that they wanted to debunk Candace's theories
00:02:48.920 to get people to stop watching her shows.
00:02:51.780 Many of them, I suspect, had very good intentions.
00:02:54.880 But I said at the time that I thought it was a bad idea,

00:02:59.760 that we should state our opinions, of course,
00:03:02.180 tell the truth as we see it,
00:03:04.060 but that to obsess over every theory

00:03:12.740 to everyone and everything other than the view counts and bottom lines of the various podcasters.
00:03:19.500 I predicted that this issue would only be resolved in a court of law,
00:03:23.300 that opinions would only be changed by the prosecution and the defense,
00:03:28.500 the sort of thing we began to see in the pretrial hearing last month,
00:03:32.080 that all the rest of it was noise at best, and at worst, a very dark form of entertainment.
00:03:37.660 Basically, everyone ignored my opinion, and many people harshly criticized me for suggesting it.
00:03:45.620 But here we are, 11 months later, and despite innumerable podcasts on the subject,
00:03:52.240 the matter has not been resolved. The rancor has gotten worse. The appetite for the Charlie
00:03:58.260 murder industry is higher than ever. So, this debate will be the Super Bowl of Charlie murder
00:04:04.500 content. Millions of people will watch it. Lots of money will be made. Lots of opinions will be
00:04:10.260 put forward. And I strongly suspect that this, too, will fail to put the matter to rest.
00:04:17.520 Lots of very fine people, people I quite like and admire, friends of mine,
00:04:21.780 think this debate is a good idea. I am in the distinct minority of people who have consistently
00:04:28.000 held that all of this chatter is not doing any good whatsoever. Everyone else, on all sides of
00:04:34.640 the subject, seems to think that we're just one podcast away from settling it. So because of that,
00:04:40.660 I'm sure Andrew and Candace will have no trouble finding a suitable moderator, probably several,
00:04:45.840 who holds a different view of the genre than I do. However, since I was briefly roped into all of this,
00:04:52.220 I would like to make a couple of proposals before I end my involuntary involvement.
00:04:57.760 First, I understand there's a lot of money on the line in this debate.
00:05:01.600 I don't know the exact number or even how it's supposed to be distributed.
00:05:05.360 If it's a split among the debaters and the moderator,
00:05:08.320 or if it's a prize for the winner, or if there will even be a declared winner.
00:05:12.380 I don't know.
00:05:13.380 What I propose, though, is that every penny of the prize money,
00:05:17.540 as well as the video monetization revenue from however many platforms this is streamed on,
00:05:22.220 and re-streamed on, probably hundreds of them, goes to Charlie's kids.
00:05:27.400 I would suggest a college scholarship fund, but Charlie famously hated college,
00:05:32.060 other than Hillsdale, maybe Liberty, a few others. But put it in a trust for that, something,
00:05:37.580 some way to avoid a circumstance in which anyone is profiting off our buddy's corpse.
00:05:42.760 My second proposal is that everyone involved, the debaters, the moderator, the audience,
00:05:51.040 Everyone agrees to keep the cameras rolling for as long as it takes
00:05:55.280 to hash out all of the issues and opinions and intuitions
00:05:59.440 and anything else that can possibly come to mind.
00:06:03.500 And then to put an end to the Charlie murder industry
00:06:06.760 for the sake of Charlie's widow, Erica,
00:06:09.680 for the sake of his kids, for the sake of his whole family,
00:06:12.320 as well as for the sake of his political legacy

00:06:23.600 The rest of us can comment as hard facts come to light from the authorities and from the accused.

00:07:53.600 almost murdered again. There was apparently another potential assassination attempt of
00:08:00.160 President Trump. Did you know that? There was very likely another attempt to murder the sitting
00:08:08.760 president, and you probably haven't even heard about it. This is 38-year-old Janine John
00:08:15.980 Tale. He's a guy. I guess his name is Janine. I don't know if it's a trans thing. I don't
00:08:21.960 know. I don't know what the story is. This guy was arrested at the Trump National Golf
00:08:26.320 Course in Rancho Palos Verdes just before President Trump was supposed to visit California.
00:08:32.640 According to the DOJ, Tale approached federal agents and stated that he was an employee
00:08:38.000 of the State Department and was at the location for a security detail.
00:08:42.440 He then further admitted to having a loaded gun in his car that was parked in the Trump
00:08:46.780 Golf Club parking lot.
00:08:48.520 So this guy shows up to Trump's golf course before Trump gets to California.
00:08:52.280 He lies to federal agents.
00:08:54.540 He says he works for the federal government, for the State Department, and says he's there

00:09:45.000 But in the media's defense, this actually isn't a news story. It's not that interesting. It's
00:09:48.740 not man bites dog. They do this all the time. There was one very near attempt that almost
00:09:55.360 killed President Trump where it blew off part of his ear and he only survived because he turned
00:09:58.660 his head one-twentieth of an inch at the last second. Then there was another attempt at one
00:10:02.760 of his golf courses. There have been many other attempts over the years. On top of that, you have
00:10:08.680 very prominent left-wing commentators who are campaigning with the big Democrat candidates
00:10:12.980 right now, Hassan Piker, calling for multiple Republican senators to be murdered for the
00:10:17.840 streets to run red in capitalist blood, says America deserves 9-11. Meanwhile, you have other
00:10:23.100 prominent streamers calling for violence against conservatives, guys like that guy Destiny,
00:10:27.040 Stephen Bonnell.
00:10:29.060 Meanwhile, as President Trump was very nearly killed, and as Charlie Kirk was killed,
00:10:35.660 you have prominent Democrats on air before the body is cold, justifying the murder.
00:10:42.360 Totally normal in our very perverse culture, which is the sort of thing we ought to be

00:13:53.060 for most of our history, Root. For most of our history, we didn't have ICE. We had INS,
00:13:57.420 and they were targeted. They obeyed the laws of this land. They didn't terrorize people in places
00:14:02.480 like preschools and parking lots. They didn't run up in schools and churches. They understood that
00:14:08.100 their job, yes, was to enforce immigration policy, but they did it under the protection
00:14:14.060 of the Constitution itself. And that's what we're losing here.
00:14:16.580 Okay. So he says, no, we got to abolish ICE, but I don't want to scare off normal voters.
00:14:21.080 So you know what? We're just going to, we're going to have INS. We're going to go back to
00:14:24.820 INS. INS was the immigration enforcement wing before ICE. ICE was founded in 2003 when the
00:14:30.480 government was reorganized after 9-11 to create the Department of Homeland Security.

00:14:36.340 He says, no, we got to go back to INS.
00:14:37.900 Because he says ICE is not following the Constitution.

00:15:32.680 the Clinton administration. And then finally, what happened? INS, not ICE, ICE didn't exist yet.
00:15:37.840 INS shows up with automatic weapons, pointing a gun at this little kid who was hiding in a closet
00:15:43.800 with his uncle. That's what you want to go back to? Okay, fine. If what we're going to go back to
00:15:50.460 by abolishing ICE is we're going to go back to INS, rolling up with automatic weapons,
00:15:54.260 pointing them at illegal aliens, not innocent children. I hope it's not pointed at innocent
00:15:58.420 children. But illegal aliens and all, okay, fine. These guys are tougher than ICE. But that's not
00:16:04.300 really what Abdul al-Sayed means. I think he means what he says. He wants to abolish ICE. He
00:16:08.960 wants to abolish immigration enforcement. And he knows that doesn't sound good. So he's going to
00:16:13.080 come out and say, well, no, we're going to replace it with the older agency. But we're not going to
00:16:16.480 have the older agency do all the stuff that we don't like the newer agency to do, which is to
00:16:20.520 say, we're not going to enforce immigration law. Of course. So this is not going to appeal to normal
00:16:26.000 people. Don't forget, mass deportations won President Trump the popular vote. Mass deportations
00:16:32.380 are a mainstream popular political issue. Part of the reason that President Trump's approval
00:16:36.820 rating has dipped, I think, is because he isn't deporting enough people, and he's deporting a lot
00:16:41.580 of people. So if you're Abdul El-Sayed, what do you do now? Well, what the El-Sayed campaign has
00:16:50.240 decided to do is rebrand and make their candidate super gay.

00:17:56.720 constituency, the true diehards of the al-Sayed base? What the right-wingers will tell you on
00:18:02.020 cable news and more of the boomer class is they're going to tell you that al-Sayed's base is a bunch
00:18:06.840 of jihadis who hate us for our freedom because he wants to implement Islamic Sharia law. That's not
00:18:13.420 El-Sayed's base. El-Sayed's base is a bunch of lame, lib, probably half gay, college-educated
00:18:21.580 young white people. That is El-Sayed's base. El-Sayed won with young, college-educated white
00:18:28.680 liberals. He outperformed with whites. He outperformed with whites. He underperformed
00:18:32.660 with blacks. He outperformed, it is true, with Muslims in Dearborn. He got 80% of the vote of
00:18:38.200 Muslims in Dearborn. And that may have been decisive. Just put him over the edge. But the
00:18:42.200 actual base, the people who are most excited about the El-Sayed campaign are guys to whom,
00:18:47.320 ooh, I want to dance with somebody appeals to. Like millennial twinks. That's just to be as
00:18:54.820 evocative as I possibly can be, just to paint a picture for you. That is who El-Sayed is appealing
00:18:59.240 to. It's not to the Iranian sleeper cell. It's to your lesbian cousin. That's who El-Sayed appeals
00:19:06.000 to. You know who he doesn't appeal to? He doesn't appeal to establishment Democrats.
00:19:10.320 He doesn't appeal to normal racial minorities.
00:19:13.900 He doesn't appeal to your run-of-the-mill black voter in Michigan.

00:19:20.060 So the strategy that the al-Sayed campaign has settled on is that it's better to look like a poof than a jihadi.

00:19:28.760 But what this means, and this is good news for the GOP, there is a natural tension in al-Sayed's coalition.

00:19:43.320 Whenever you see a natural tension in a coalition, you just try to exploit that.
00:19:46.740 You try to take your finger and stick it right in whatever that little wound is.

00:19:51.940 The reason the Soviet Union was so successful in the 60s at causing rancor in the United States was not that it invented racial strife.

00:20:14.480 Environmentalism, the left-wing base really cares about that.
00:20:17.160 The normal left-wing voters, especially the ones with money, don't care about that so much.

00:20:28.640 The way the left has exploited attention on the right, and probably foreign actors too,
00:20:32.540 is on the matter of Israel, the state of Israel, because that is a natural tension on the right.
00:20:38.020 You have a lot of people on the right who want foreign policy restraint,
00:20:40.700 who realize that a lot of our foreign policy focus has to do with the state of Israel.
00:20:44.960 But you have a lot of other people on the right who say, hey, we are allies with the state of
00:20:49.540 Israel. The state of Israel is kind of a Western colony in the Middle East. In some ways, it's
00:20:55.880 kind of an outgrowth of Western imperialism. And in any case, we don't want radical jihadis
00:20:59.980 who hate America to take over the region. So you just have this tension. It's kind of an
00:21:04.300 intractable tension, and the left has exploited that. Well, that's, I think, what we're seeing
00:21:07.960 here with al-Sayed. He needs to appeal to gay liberals and fanatical Muslims. He can't win
00:21:16.000 without 80% of Dearborn, and he certainly can't win without the college-educated liberal whites.
00:21:21.940 But there's a tension there. There's a tension with gays for Gaza. So that's, I think, what we
00:21:27.280 need to appeal to. I think we need to message differently to different groups. I think the GOP
00:21:32.160 needs to have a very different message in Dearborn than it does at the University of Michigan or
00:21:38.420 something like that. But if you have to pick one for the national ads, I think probably you lean
00:21:43.960 heavily on the Islamophobia. I think that's what you got to focus on. Because Abdul El-Sayed is
00:21:50.020 is telling you that that's the move. The fact that Abdul El-Sayed is trying to lean into
00:21:58.100 I'm just a gay liberal tells you he doesn't want to lean into I'm a conservative Muslim.
00:22:05.680 He's more concerned about losing the liberal normie Dems than he is about losing the Muslims.
00:22:12.900 So lean onto that because that'll turn off the liberal normie Dems. That's clearly the play.
