The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 245 - Republicans Have Won The Argument

00:00:00.200 Democrats have settled on a final, desperate midterm strategy, call Republicans racist.

00:00:05.860 Second verse, same as the first. Proving the age-old maxim, when a left-winger calls you a racist,

00:00:11.300 you know that you've won the argument. We will examine the final midterm arguments

00:00:14.780 and the crucial difference between Republican and Democrat campaigns in 2018.

00:00:19.740 There's one very big difference. Then the mailbag. I'm Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:00:30.000 Welcome to my dungeon. I know I invite you into my boudoir a lot. Now you're in my dungeon.

00:00:36.860 Studio look a little different. First of all, on the one hand, the good news is I'm free from my broom closet.

00:00:42.360 The bad news is I'm now in a cave somewhere in Tora Bora or something.

00:00:46.640 We're here. There's some construction going on at the studios right now.

00:00:50.000 And I kind of like the idea that we're in this bunker until the midterm elections.

00:00:53.620 We're in the war room regardless of what happens, even if Republicans hold the Senate,

00:00:58.340 even if the Republicans hold the House, the deluge of leftist tears could be so intense

00:01:02.780 that the leftist tears tumbler wouldn't even be able to sustain them.

00:01:06.480 Now we're in sort of one giant leftist tears tumbler, a leftist tears silo, if you will.

00:01:11.820 We have a lot to get to today. President Trump is coming out swinging.

00:01:15.900 He's fighting to the very last minute in these midterm elections.

00:01:19.620 He's nationalized this election, which is a huge win.

00:01:22.280 Democrats are using the only trick that they've got, which is to call conservatives racists.

00:01:27.600 Democrats will analyze race by race, but first, let's make a little money, honey.

00:01:31.940 What time is it? Oh, it's time to make a little money, honey.

00:01:33.920 Okay. Do you know how I know that? Because of my movement watch.

00:01:36.260 You know how much I love movement watches, founded by those two college dropouts

00:01:40.140 that started their own watch company.

00:01:41.700 The company has grown like crazy.

00:01:43.200 They have now sold almost two million watches in 160-plus countries.

00:01:47.820 They continue to revolutionize fashion on the belief that style shouldn't break the bank.

00:01:51.560 I was at a party last night. I saw a guy. He didn't even listen to the show.

00:01:54.740 Just wearing one of his little movement watches. I complimented him on his. He complimented me on mine.

00:01:59.460 I get a ton of compliments on this thing.

00:02:01.640 This is the Atlas Revolver. I think it's the coolest watch they've made,

00:02:05.760 but there are a bunch of others that I want that they still haven't sent me.

00:02:08.600 So go over, get them yourself. You know, maybe send one over here. I don't know.

00:02:12.380 Celebrate Republicans hopefully picking up seats in the Senate.

00:02:15.960 Movement watches are all about looking good and keeping it simple.

00:02:18.480 They don't tell you how many steps you've taken.

00:02:20.080 They don't, you know, blow up your wrist with text messages and you've got to call your mother back

00:02:24.520 or whatever you've got to do. Not that at all.

00:02:26.120 They tell the time like a watch is supposed to do.

00:02:28.300 Movement watches start at just $95.

00:02:30.000 At a department store, you'd be spending $400 or $500 for this.

00:02:52.600 So right now, for these races, I won't go through all of the polling,

00:02:57.000 but right now there is some real movement in the Republican direction on Senate races.

00:03:04.240 There was a really tight Senate race in Indiana,

00:03:06.340 and Joe Donnelly just made a few racist comments, legitimately racist comments,

00:03:10.140 because he said, I've got a staffer who's African-American, but she does a good job. 1.00

00:03:15.860 I've got a staffer who's Indian, but he does a good job.

00:03:18.780 Actually, he just kept repeating it.

00:03:20.800 So that one's tightening up.

00:03:22.840 West Virginia looks like it's in a dead heat right now.

00:03:25.420 We've got Republicans way up in North Dakota.

00:03:27.540 We've got Republicans up in Missouri, I believe.

00:03:31.920 There's a lot of movement going on.

00:03:34.440 As for the House, Cook Political Report is now revising up the number of seats

00:03:39.420 that they think Democrats are going to take.

00:03:41.440 They now think that at the outer limit, Democrats could take 40 seats.

00:03:45.080 This is up from their prediction at 35 seats.

00:03:48.180 To put that into historical perspective,

00:03:50.700 Barack Obama lost 63 seats in his first midterm election.

00:03:54.660 Bill Clinton lost 54 seats in his first midterm election.

00:03:57.920 So it's not outside the realm of possibility.

00:04:00.140 Actually, if the Democrats win 30 seats,

00:04:03.420 all in all, that's sort of a win for the Republicans.

00:04:07.280 Historically speaking, that means they held on to a lot of seats.

00:04:10.120 I'm not sure even that is going to happen.

00:04:12.380 The Democrats have to flip 24 seats in order to take the House.

00:04:18.020 I don't know.

00:04:18.920 I don't want to make any predictions.

00:04:20.560 I don't want, you know, who knows?

00:04:21.800 We actually still have a few days.

00:04:23.340 Things could change.

00:04:24.240 These races are all so close.

00:04:25.900 I'm not convinced Republicans are going to lose the House.

00:04:28.180 I'm not convinced at all.

00:04:29.760 I think we're not in normal times.

00:04:31.800 I think that the polling is reliable when you're in normal times.

00:04:35.220 And right now, we're not in normal times.

00:04:37.420 This election has become a referendum on Donald Trump.

00:04:40.180 Trump has done that, and the media have been happy to oblige.

00:04:44.160 They've made it a national election about Trump.

00:04:47.020 And right now, the left has gone so insane that it's socially unacceptable to say that you support Donald Trump in a lot of places.

00:04:55.560 It can hurt you at your job.

00:04:56.840 It'll certainly hurt you at your university.

00:04:58.560 It can hurt you with family members, so people don't say it.

00:05:02.240 You've got leftist mobs in the street.

00:05:04.260 So I'm not sure that I really believe the polling.

00:05:06.360 I'm not sure that people are going to tell pollsters that they're willing to support the Trump agenda.

00:05:10.460 We'll have to see.

00:05:11.240 We'll be here on election night.

00:05:12.840 But Donald Trump is going down to the wire with a brutal campaign ad.

00:05:17.860 I think it is superb in typical Trumpy fashion.

00:05:21.000 It's not the most subtle.

00:05:22.700 Not the most subtle ad in the world.

00:05:24.920 And they are focusing this election, just like they did in 2016, on immigration.

00:05:30.000 This is the final argument being made.

00:05:31.980 The Kavanaugh effect was very helpful to us.

00:05:34.700 The judges, the mob violence, all of that is a good argument.

00:05:38.240 But they're making this about immigration as this illegal caravan is going up through Mexico.

00:05:43.920 Here is the ad.

00:05:45.020 I can narrate this for people who can't read it.

00:05:57.380 Democrats let him into our country. 0.57

00:06:02.540 He just killed two. 1.00

00:06:03.820 He wishes he killed more of those blanks. 1.00

00:06:05.980 I'm going to kill more cops soon. 1.00

00:06:07.900 Democrats let him stay. 0.99

00:06:15.020 He says he wants to apply for pardon for the felony he committed.

00:06:22.320 So you see this caravan moving up.

00:06:25.120 He's saying you're seeing criminals.

00:06:27.140 You're seeing young men creating violence in this caravan. 0.78

00:06:31.420 He says, who else would Democrats let in? 0.97

00:06:33.740 There's this smiling illegal alien cop killer.

00:06:36.440 President Donald J. Trump and Republicans are making America safe again.

00:06:39.960 Brutal, devastating campaign ad and absolutely right.

00:06:46.740 How do you think the media are responding to this ad?

00:06:49.560 I'll give you one guess, two syllables.

00:06:52.820 What is it?

00:06:53.400 It's racist.

00:06:54.460 That's what they're saying.

00:06:55.180 It's racist, which is sort of ironic because the claim that it is racist is itself racist.

00:07:02.560 We'll get to that in a second.

00:07:03.680 What they're really claiming, I mean, everybody is saying this.

00:07:05.620 It's a shockingly racist ad.

00:07:07.720 The most racist ad in 30, 50, 1,000 years.

00:07:10.840 Okay.

00:07:11.980 What is the claim of the ad?

00:07:13.480 The claim of the ad is we shouldn't let these illegal aliens, thousands and thousands of them, 1.00

00:07:19.640 barge into the country, break our laws illegally. 1.00

00:07:22.360 The claim is that there are some criminals among them.

00:07:24.780 The claim is that some of these criminals have not been deported.

00:07:29.260 They've been allowed to stay, and they've committed more crimes.

00:07:32.780 All of that is true.

00:07:33.820 Here's what you need to know.

00:07:34.680 Number one, illegal aliens commit a disproportionate share of federal crimes, period. 0.93

00:07:40.560 It is often alleged on the left that illegal aliens commit fewer crimes than native-born Americans.

00:07:46.940 It depends what studies you're looking at.

00:07:48.920 It depends how you calibrate those data.

00:07:51.100 But we do know that they commit a disproportionate share of federal crimes.

00:07:55.140 21% of non-immigration crimes are committed by non-citizens.

00:07:59.480 That is over 2 1⁄2 times their share of the population.

00:08:05.680 Now, look, most crimes are state and local crimes.

00:08:08.360 Okay.

00:08:08.860 But as for federal crimes, they commit 2 1⁄2 times their share of the population worth of crimes, non-immigration crimes.

00:08:15.560 Now, there are some conflicting studies.

00:08:18.120 There is a study out from the Cato Institute that shows lower rates of violent crime among illegal aliens.

00:08:23.060 However, the Crime Prevention Research Center shows significantly higher rates of violent crime among illegal aliens.

00:08:29.140 So you've got different studies.

00:08:31.140 This is why conservatives tend not to rely on social scientific studies too much because they can be manipulated.

00:08:37.760 They're easily politicized. 0.99

00:08:39.660 As I believe it was Mark Twain said, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics. 0.99

00:08:44.700 Number two that you need to know. 0.99

00:08:46.040 Lefties are pretending now that illegal immigration actually reduces crimes.

00:08:51.480 So you'll see it sounds like the same argument, but it's not.

00:08:54.140 The one argument is that illegal aliens commit less crime. 0.96

00:08:57.300 The other is that illegal immigration decreases crime.

00:09:02.240 Over time, there's a correlation between crime decreasing in America and illegal immigration increasing.

00:09:09.500 Correlation is not causation.

00:09:11.180 So you see this in New York Times, all of the mainstream media reporting on this.

00:09:15.600 And it's true. 0.56

00:09:16.340 As over the last 30 years, illegal immigration has increased dramatically and crime has decreased.

00:09:23.220 Okay.

00:09:24.400 Apple computers have gotten faster too.

00:09:26.820 Illegal immigration increases the speed of Apple computers. 1.00

00:09:30.540 You know, over that time, vegan coffee shops have increased as well.

00:09:34.660 Illegal immigration results in a higher percentage of vegan coffee shops.

00:09:39.300 Of course not.

00:09:40.260 There are different trends that are happening.

00:09:42.060 Crime has fallen in the United States.

00:09:43.660 Violent crime, over the last 30 years, dramatically.

00:09:47.080 This is not because we've let a lot of illegal immigrants into the country.

00:09:50.540 And illegal aliens are residing here. 0.99

00:09:52.280 And they're like Tibetan monks or something.

00:09:54.700 You know, come on.

00:09:55.560 All we are saying is give peace a chance.

00:09:57.420 That's not what they're saying.

00:09:59.520 Those are two different trends.

00:10:00.620 And they're not related.

00:10:02.120 Number three.

00:10:03.100 Cato Institute observes that legal immigrants are less likely to be in jails or prison in the U.S.

00:10:10.540 The point being that all of this immigration, illegal and illegal, should be encouraged. 1.00

00:10:17.640 That's how the left is using that statistic.

00:10:19.820 No.

00:10:20.220 It just means that legal immigrants are very law-abiding.

00:10:23.920 And what the left always tries to do, this is why they change the language here.

00:10:27.840 It's why you now have to say undocumented immigrant or dreamer or whatever instead of illegal alien,

00:10:35.020 is they want to conflate illegal immigrants with legal immigrants.

00:10:38.980 But they aren't the same thing.

00:10:41.500 They're not immigrants. 1.00

00:10:42.540 They're foreign nationals who are here illegally. 1.00

00:10:44.840 They're not immigrants. 1.00

00:10:46.280 And illegal aliens behave differently than legal immigrants to the United States. 0.98

00:10:51.520 Obviously so.

00:10:52.320 The first act of an illegal alien in the U.S. is to break a fundamental law. 0.96

00:10:56.560 Legal immigrants from the same countries, from the same exact places, wait online, respect the law of the United States, 0.91

00:11:02.120 and they tend to be more law-abiding.

00:11:04.800 This is no shock at all.

00:11:06.080 I mean, the one thing we know about these two groups is one of them follows the law and one does not follow the law.

00:11:11.260 And it's a little sleight of hand that the left does because they say, look, immigrants commit far less crime.

00:11:16.920 Okay.

00:11:17.500 But what about illegal aliens? 0.86

00:11:18.640 Those are totally different questions.

00:11:22.220 This one hasn't been reported.

00:11:24.100 The fourth thing you should know, the Guatemalan president, president of Guatemala,

00:11:28.820 has said publicly that he has caught ISIS operatives in his country presumably to join the caravan and enter into the United States

00:11:38.600 unless they just wanted to go for the really delicious Guatemalan food.

00:11:42.060 I don't know what else they were doing down there if not to attack the United States. 0.57

00:11:45.340 He has said, Jimmy Morales, the president of Guatemala, that he has caught and deported 100, nearly 100, Islamic terrorists in his country just within the last month,

00:11:58.980 just right before that caravan was moving from Honduras into Guatemala, eventually into Mexico.

00:12:04.720 He says that he caught 100 ISIS-affiliated Islamic terrorists there.

00:12:10.500 Did he?

00:12:11.000 I don't know.

00:12:11.820 Is the president of Guatemala telling the truth?

00:12:13.860 I don't know.

00:12:14.640 What incentive does he have to lie?

00:12:16.340 I don't really think he has any incentive to lie either.

00:12:19.160 What I can promise you is that you have not seen that reported in the mainstream media.

00:12:23.120 And actually, the one time, I think Pete Hegseth on Fox & Friends mentioned this, and the media piled on.

00:12:29.080 They said, how dare you report this?

00:12:30.860 How dare you report this?

00:12:32.180 Well, the president of Guatemala said it.

00:12:34.220 That's all we're saying.

00:12:36.340 And why won't you cover what the president of Guatemala, who is there, who knows a lot more about this caravan than you do,

00:12:42.440 Chris Cuomo or Don Lemon or Brian Stelter or anyone else on CNN,

00:12:46.680 why aren't you reporting that?

00:12:48.180 Because it contradicts the narrative that these are all peaceful, loving mothers and they're cherubic children who just want a better life,

00:12:56.040 who love America and want to come here and eat apple pie and go to baseball games.

00:13:00.340 That is not the case.

00:13:01.900 The reality from all the videos we've seen of this caravan and from the testimony of the president of Guatemala contradicts that.

00:13:08.380 Another thing you should know is that there are a ton of criminals in here.

00:13:11.560 In Guatemala, the Guatemalan authorities have saved seven children from human traffickers who are bringing them into the United States

00:13:20.060 to do whatever horrific, nefarious things that these people do, that human traffickers and coyotes will do with them.

00:13:27.820 So they've only caught seven.

00:13:29.620 I hope they can rescue more, but who knows how many there are.

00:13:34.640 This is the trouble with unvetted, random, violent mobs trying to break their way into the country is there's no vetting.

00:13:42.540 You have no idea who these people are.

00:13:44.260 You don't know their criminality.

00:13:45.960 You don't know the relationship of these adults to the children.

00:13:49.020 So the Democrats demagogue all the time.

00:13:51.340 They say, you're separating families at the border.

00:13:53.660 You're separating this father from his son.

00:13:56.580 Yeah, maybe, maybe you are.

00:13:58.700 Do you know that?

00:13:59.500 Do you know that that little girl is the daughter of that man?

00:14:03.120 No, you don't know that at all.

00:14:05.180 There aren't any documents.

00:14:07.000 This is why we have legal structures to make sure that the people who are coming to the country are who they say that they are 1.00

00:14:13.420 and that we're protecting kids.

00:14:15.520 We know the statistic.

00:14:16.900 I mention it a lot, but I mention it a lot because the mainstream media won't,

00:14:20.560 which is that 60 to 80 percent of women and girls, according to Amnesty International and Fusion in the Huffington Post,

00:14:26.420 are sexually assaulted when they cross the border into the U.S. illegally.

00:14:30.060 So clearly, we don't know that the little daughter belongs to the father coming in here.

00:14:35.520 Guatemalan authorities have arrested, or have arrested a number of traffickers and rescued seven kids.

00:14:40.480 That's good.

00:14:41.060 We also know that Mexico, once the caravan made it into Mexico,

00:14:44.300 has arrested and deported two fugitives wanted for murder.

00:14:48.640 We know of just two.

00:14:49.980 Who knows how many more there are?

00:14:51.360 You saw the video.

00:14:52.200 You saw it wasn't a lot of women and children, was it?

00:14:54.900 It was young men getting very violent at borders.

00:14:58.320 Okay.

00:14:59.460 The last thing you should know about this, the majority of Americans want this caravan stopped.

00:15:05.660 All public polling has suggested this.

00:15:08.500 I think that the latest poll is that 51 percent of Americans want this stopped.

00:15:12.860 They don't want anybody let into the country. 1.00

00:15:15.860 38 percent want some people to be let in and have their cases heard

00:15:19.760 and see if they qualify for asylum or this or that or the other thing.

00:15:24.260 So you've got, that's a significant margin.

00:15:26.900 You've got the majority of the country doesn't want this.

00:15:30.600 That's Republicans.

00:15:31.760 That's Democrats.

00:15:32.560 That's independents.

00:15:34.120 This is why President Trump has identified this issue as so important,

00:15:38.760 because maybe he hasn't read Edmund Burke or Michael Oakeshott

00:15:42.480 or gone to Heritage Foundation lunches,

00:15:44.460 but he does know that people really care about this.

00:15:46.920 It's so offensive, and it is a real danger.

00:15:51.340 You know, I think when these girls, Katie Steinle was killed by an illegal alien, 0.96

00:15:57.140 Molly Tibbetts, I think, was another one killed by an illegal alien, 0.98

00:15:59.900 whenever President Trump would point that out,

00:16:01.680 he'd be talking about how awful illegal immigration is,

00:16:05.200 what a danger it is to the country.

00:16:06.580 Then the left would say there's no danger at all,

00:16:08.440 and then some American citizen, in those cases young girls,

00:16:12.780 were killed by illegal aliens. 0.96

00:16:14.540 And the left would say, oh, that's just convenient.

00:16:16.520 That's just an anecdote.

00:16:19.160 These girls aren't anecdotes. 0.97

00:16:20.880 They're American citizens who are dead because of the horrific, reckless, 1.00

00:16:26.380 anti-American, anti-lawful policies of Democrats.

00:16:30.700 That's why.

00:16:32.220 Okay, people make mistakes.

00:16:33.640 Politicians make mistakes all the time.

00:16:35.500 Politicians can support disastrous policies.

00:16:37.400 Okay, but then stop.

00:16:39.500 Stop supporting the policy.

00:16:40.840 Turn around.

00:16:42.140 Support a different policy.

00:16:44.580 A lot more to get to on this question, but first, I've got to make a little money, honey.

00:16:50.040 Then we can analyze all of the sad, desperate, empty arguments in the home stretch of these midterm elections.

00:16:56.840 But first, speaking of safety and making neighborhoods safer, we've got to thank Ring.

00:17:03.300 Ring's mission is to make neighborhoods safer.

00:17:05.020 Today, over a million people use the amazing Ring video doorbell to help protect their homes.

00:17:10.360 Ring knows that home security begins at the front door, but it doesn't end there.

00:17:13.560 So now they're extending that same level of security to the rest of your home with the Ring floodlight camera.

00:17:18.260 You know, when you try to break into a home and then the floodlight comes on,

00:17:21.080 and then you scamper away into the woods, that is a floodlight.

00:17:24.020 Ring has put a camera in there.

00:17:25.320 What's great about them, too, all my cool guy friends have Ring.

00:17:29.340 All of them do.

00:17:30.280 I've given Ring to some friends of mine because it's so good.

00:17:33.400 And it's great because you can see them on your phone.

00:17:37.220 You can be in your house or on a beach in Boca.

00:17:39.280 Who knows?

00:17:40.020 And you can talk to them.

00:17:41.620 You're able to communicate, scare them away.

00:17:44.000 And it's uploaded into the cloud, so you can share it with your neighbors.

00:17:47.380 Say, watch out for this guy.

00:17:48.700 If the robber steals your Ring doorbell, you've already got the video because it's in the cloud.

00:17:53.820 It's a tremendous product.

00:17:54.740 I can't believe how inexpensive it is for all the value that you get.

00:17:58.620 It is the ultimate in in-home security with high visibility floodlights, powerful HD camera.

00:18:03.220 Put security in your hands right now.

00:18:04.780 Don't say I never did nothing for you.

00:18:06.380 Save up to $150 off of a Ring of Security kit when you go to ring.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S.

00:18:13.340 Ring.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S. 0.99

00:18:15.960 What is it?

00:18:16.560 I already told you twice.

00:18:17.420 I'll tell you again.

00:18:18.260 Ring.com slash Knowles.

00:18:21.960 Okay, so Trump has identified this issue.

00:18:26.180 It's no coincidence that this is the issue that he's ending on.

00:18:29.980 I mean, this is the final pitch.

00:18:31.580 We're now, it's now Thursday.

00:18:33.100 We've got Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.

00:18:36.520 Five days left for the midterm elections.

00:18:38.680 His final pitch is this because he knows it works and it matters.

00:18:42.600 It's a really important issue and that's the reason it resonates with the American people.

00:18:46.160 President Trump began his presidential campaign on this.

00:18:50.140 He, in many ways, concluded his presidential campaign on this and he's concluding the midterms

00:18:54.460 on this as well.

00:18:55.660 It's because it matters and it shows a degree of political sophistication and discipline here.

00:19:01.300 People like to pretend that Donald Trump isn't disciplined, that he's reckless, he's this

00:19:05.440 emotional guy, he takes everything personally, he lashes out.

00:19:09.740 Nonsense.

00:19:10.740 Nonsense.

00:19:11.080 That isn't what's happening.

00:19:12.920 Trump is one of the most disciplined politicians I've ever seen.

00:19:15.380 He stays extraordinarily on message.

00:19:17.900 He's been on message now for three years, almost three years, on this issue of illegal

00:19:22.260 immigration.

00:19:23.240 He doesn't really seem to take things personally.

00:19:26.040 He performs.

00:19:27.000 He puts on a show.

00:19:28.240 He picks fights.

00:19:29.180 He certainly defends in fights.

00:19:31.020 But he doesn't seem to take things that personally.

00:19:33.260 That's why he's the Teflon Don, right?

00:19:34.920 That's why he's able.

00:19:36.400 All of the horrific things that people say about him.

00:19:40.120 Imagine all the horrific things.

00:19:41.620 They say he's sexually attracted to his daughter.

00:19:44.740 Remember that line of attack? 0.99

00:19:46.300 They say he's a traitor to his country.

00:19:48.120 He colluded with Russia. 1.00

00:19:49.120 He's fat. 1.00

00:19:49.680 He's ugly. 1.00

00:19:50.140 He's a baby. 1.00

00:19:51.040 The New York Times fantasizes about assassinating him. 0.93

00:19:53.700 The New York Times publishes pictures of him kissing and getting intimate with Vladimir 0.85

00:19:59.220 Putin.

00:20:00.140 The list goes on and on and on.

00:20:02.140 And he seems to still enjoy being president.

00:20:07.680 You see him out there at these press conferences.

00:20:10.060 You see him at the gaggles talking to the press.

00:20:11.980 He's still up.

00:20:12.880 He's still having a good time.

00:20:14.480 If he were taking this personally, he would be isolated.

00:20:18.720 He would be angry.

00:20:19.860 He wouldn't talk to the press.

00:20:22.680 It's quite the opposite because he seems confident that he's going to win.

00:20:25.920 And that confidence, that exuberance, really, I think, has spread out among conservatives.

00:20:31.480 I've been all over the country in the last week talking to different colleges, talking

00:20:34.880 to different people.

00:20:36.160 The conservatives I've spoken to seem pretty confident.

00:20:38.780 And the lefties seem angrier than ever.

00:20:40.620 Nowhere is this clearer than on the mainstream media and on CNN.

00:20:45.180 Here is a CNN analyst, April Ryan, speaking on Don Lemon's program.

00:20:51.120 And what do you think?

00:20:52.060 They're making their final arguments, too.

00:20:53.700 Trump is making his arguments for the midterms.

00:20:55.720 They're making theirs. 0.51

00:20:56.660 What do you think?

00:20:57.520 The final case.

00:20:59.140 Vote for Democrats because.

00:21:00.880 What's the argument they're making? 1.00

00:21:02.680 Trump's a racist. 0.99

00:21:03.660 Take it away. 1.00

00:21:04.680 And, you know, it begs the question.

00:21:06.940 He talks about the press being the enemy of the people.

00:21:09.740 It begs the question, is he the enemy of the people by stirring up this hate, by causing

00:21:15.720 people to actually act on hatred or discrimination against those, to even go as far as,

00:21:23.700 killing people. 0.90

00:21:25.300 Oh. 1.00

00:21:26.020 He's stirring up hatred and making people kill people.

00:21:28.860 First, just a note on word usage.

00:21:31.520 She says it begs the question.

00:21:32.880 It begs the question.

00:21:33.760 That's not what begs the question means.

00:21:36.000 Just a little digression.

00:21:37.580 To beg the question, it means to assume the conclusion that you're trying to prove.

00:21:42.900 That's to, that's begging the question.

00:21:45.120 Begging the question is not to ask a question.

00:21:47.120 So there's a little credibility issue here.

00:21:50.840 The minute she said that, I thought, this woman probably doesn't know what she's talking 1.00

00:21:54.060 about.

00:21:54.640 And I was correct. 0.76

00:21:55.820 She's saying that Donald Trump is stirring up hatred, making people want to kill people, 0.97

00:22:00.120 making people kill people. 0.95

00:22:01.040 The obvious association she's trying to make is with this guy who slaughtered 11 people

00:22:05.980 at the synagogue in Pittsburgh.

00:22:07.680 That, this is the big story in the headline. 0.96

00:22:10.180 She's trying to say that he's whipping people up into a frenzy to kill people.

00:22:15.680 Unfortunately for her, even the left is admitting that any connection between Trump and the Pittsburgh

00:22:20.800 guy is false. 0.76

00:22:21.900 That a connection between Trump and anti-Semitism is false.

00:22:25.200 They've admitted that.

00:22:25.840 The New York Times admitted, they said, quote, there have been four times as many crimes motivated

00:22:31.000 by bias against Jews, 142 in all, as there have against blacks.

00:22:35.780 Hate crimes against Jews have outnumbered hate crimes targeted at transgender people by a factor

00:22:40.620 of 20.

00:22:41.500 They go on, quote, during the past 22 months, not one person, not one person caught or identified

00:22:48.200 as the aggressor in an anti-Semitic hate crime has been associated with a far right wing

00:22:52.900 group, according to Mark Molinaro, commanding officer of the police department's hate crimes

00:22:58.600 task force.

00:23:00.000 Not one.

00:23:02.180 Not one.

00:23:02.820 So they can't make that connection at all.

00:23:05.240 As for what other crimes have there been?

00:23:07.300 Well, we saw a Bernie Bro shoot up and almost kill Steve Scalise, shoot up the congressional

00:23:13.040 baseball game because Republicans, he didn't like Republicans' opinions on health care.

00:23:17.760 And you saw this wacko ex-stripper guy living in a van in Florida send pipe bombs, none of 1.00

00:23:24.320 which went off, none of which hurt anybody, because he's a lunatic and incompetent. 0.98

00:23:27.780 OK, I'm willing to grant you the extreme fringes of both sides. 0.99

00:23:32.020 There are wackos on the fringe on the right. 1.00

00:23:33.440 There are wackos on the fringe on the left. 1.00

00:23:35.460 But the mainstream, we're talking about the mainstream here, that's all hatred.

00:23:41.940 That's all aggression and violence encouraged by the mainstream of the Democrat Party and

00:23:48.280 harshly rebuked by President Trump and every other Republican.

00:23:52.900 All right.

00:23:53.700 What is Bernie Sanders' final pitch?

00:23:56.080 The former future president, if not for Hillary Clinton and the DNC rigging it, the former future

00:24:01.980 president, Bernie Sanders.

00:24:03.680 Bernie, as we approach the midterms, what is your final vote for Democrats because Trump 0.85

00:24:10.600 is a racist? 0.94

00:24:11.060 Take it away. 0.98

00:24:12.400 They are working to make certain that the agenda of the most racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted 0.97

00:24:23.480 president in history will go nowhere because Democrats will control the House and the Senate. 0.99

00:24:32.520 The most racist, sexist, bigoted president in American history. 0.99

00:24:37.600 So racist, in fact, so racist is Donald Trump that his support among black voters has more 1.00

00:24:43.920 than doubled in just the last year. 1.00

00:24:45.680 That's how racist he is. 0.85

00:24:47.160 So racist that his support among Hispanic voters has surged within the last year. 0.99

00:24:52.360 So, he's so racist, he's so bigoted that Israel built a train station in his honor, the Donald 0.92

00:25:00.280 Trump train station in Jerusalem. 0.95

00:25:02.420 That's how bigoted he is. 0.98

00:25:03.640 That's how racist he is. 0.84

00:25:05.460 Let's look at some other racist presidents just for comparison, just to see if maybe,

00:25:10.320 maybe some other president has been more racist than perhaps the least racist president in history,

00:25:16.740 Donald Trump.

00:25:17.120 Let's just see.

00:25:18.900 No, I don't know if he's the least racist.

00:25:20.540 Who would be the least racist in history?

00:25:22.840 I don't know.

00:25:23.700 That's a really hard one because the definition of racism keeps changing.

00:25:28.580 According to Democrats, if you want to lower taxes, you're a racist.

00:25:32.200 So, it's very hard.

00:25:33.060 It's very hard to say who's the most racist and who's the least racist.

00:25:36.620 But we can point to a few examples.

00:25:39.320 Like, for example, Woodrow Wilson, Democrat president, screened Birth of a Nation in the White House,

00:25:44.580 hosted a screening of Birth of a Nation extolling the virtues of the Ku Klux Klan in the White House.

00:25:51.460 Okay, that's not, it can't be, that's probably racist, right?

00:25:53.960 How about LBJ?

00:25:55.600 LBJ famously pushed for the Civil Rights Act, so he gets credit for that. 0.93

00:26:00.340 He also was by any definition a racist.

00:26:04.760 Don't take my word for it.

00:26:06.960 MSNBC, rather, has admitted this in a long analysis of his policies and his rhetoric.

00:26:13.620 He referred, according to his biographer, Robert Caro, to the Civil Rights Act as the N-word bill.

00:26:22.480 Ninja.

00:26:22.920 I'll say ninja because he says that word a lot, so I'm just going to replace it with ninja.

00:26:26.300 You know what word I'm saying.

00:26:27.560 The ninja bill. 0.97

00:26:28.660 He referred to Asians as hordes of barbaric yellow dwarves. 0.86

00:26:32.900 Quote, that's a direct quote. 0.99

00:26:34.220 He would drive to gas stations when he was a young man, playing on the stereotype that black people are afraid of snakes.

00:26:41.100 Apparently they're afraid of snakes. 0.83

00:26:42.040 Everybody, I think, is afraid of snakes, but I guess there's a stereotype that black people are in particular. 0.74

00:26:46.520 He would drive to gas stations with a snake in his trunk, and he would get the black gas station attendant to open up the trunk and be scared of the snake. 0.77

00:26:54.340 According to his biographer, Robert Dalek, he appointed Thurgood Marshall to the court, a very famous black guy, as opposed to a less famous black guy,

00:27:05.100 because he said, quote, when I appoint a ninja to the bench, I want everybody to know he's a ninja.

00:27:10.780 That's according to LBJ's biographer, Robert Dalek.

00:27:13.420 Robert Caro, according to LBJ's chauffeur, Robert Parker, said, quote, this is LBJ speaking to Robert Parker.

00:27:22.200 He'd asked him if he wanted to be called boy or ninja or by his name.

00:27:27.880 The chauffeur obviously said, I'd like to be called by my name.

00:27:30.180 But LBJ, according to the chauffeur, according to lauded biographer Robert Caro, said, quote, 0.98

00:27:36.540 as long as you're black and you're going to be black till the day you die, no one's going to call you by your GD name. 0.98

00:27:42.520 So no matter what you're called, ninja, you just let it roll off your back like water and you'll make it. 1.00

00:27:47.480 Just pretend you're a GD piece of furniture. 0.98

00:27:50.740 It's according to Robert Caro.

00:27:52.140 OK, and that's according to the guy that he allegedly said it to.

00:27:54.860 But I wouldn't say that Donald Trump is the most racist president in history.

00:27:59.620 That's my conclusion from all of that.

00:28:01.520 There's a big difference here between how the Republicans and the Democrats are running in this race.

00:28:05.160 It tells you a lot about how they feel the country is going and how the opinions of the country are going.

00:28:11.480 The Republicans are running on the record of Donald Trump.

00:28:15.020 They are running on their record.

00:28:17.400 Democrats are hiding their record and running away from their record.

00:28:20.540 That's the difference.

00:28:21.180 It's true in virtually every race in this going on in the country right now.

00:28:26.460 Republicans are proudly running on the accomplishments of the last two years.

00:28:31.400 Democrats are hiding their opinions, running away from their opinions,

00:28:34.340 trying to make their political opinions and views seem more palatable to the majority of their constituents,

00:28:42.300 whom they consider to be Trump supporters.

00:28:44.540 We see this with Gillum running down in Florida.

00:28:48.860 He's running to be governor of Florida.

00:28:50.140 Here's a video of James O'Keefe doing God's work from Project Veritas,

00:28:54.960 catching the campaign workers admitting just this.

00:28:57.100 Here they are.

00:28:58.040 I honestly just can't say, but I do think he's not saying specifically, like,

00:29:02.280 I'm going to ban bump stocks or I'm against ARs only because he's running a race right now.

00:29:07.700 I do think he would support anybody doing that stuff.

00:29:10.040 Bill Nelson.

00:29:11.580 Right.

00:29:11.980 That's all I'm worried about.

00:29:13.840 Whatever.

00:29:14.500 Whoever the next person might be.

00:29:16.320 I just wish.

00:29:16.800 I'm going to be insane just because he's trying to get the moderates and the gun-toting people in my Florida.

00:29:22.620 All right. 0.99

00:29:22.960 This is a f***ing bad state. 0.97

00:29:24.380 Okay. 1.00

00:29:25.340 It's a cracker state.

00:29:26.300 Okay.

00:29:27.460 Okay.

00:29:27.940 Ask anybody outside of here.

00:29:29.480 You go to Port St. Lucie, Orlando. 0.96

00:29:32.300 Man, them crackers ain't going to let us do that s***. 1.00

00:29:34.980 No, are you crazy? 0.99

00:29:36.440 So, what is he doing?

00:29:39.260 He's campaigning.

00:29:40.240 He's politicking.

00:29:41.440 He's campaigning.

00:29:42.280 He's politicking.

00:29:43.000 That last guy, Omar Smith, apparently went to college with Gillum.

00:29:46.440 Apparently he's an old pal of Gillum.

00:29:47.840 I don't know why Gillum would hire this guy because he's not a great campaign worker.

00:29:53.160 Same thing down in Georgia.

00:29:54.340 Stacey Abrams is running away from her anti-gun positions.

00:29:58.460 She's saying that, you know, oh, she doesn't want to ban guns.

00:30:02.540 She doesn't want to take guns out of people's hands. 1.00

00:30:05.620 Just the AR-15.

00:30:07.180 Just the most popular rifle in America.

00:30:09.680 Just, and it's because the, it's so powerful, but she's not this.

00:30:12.380 She's pretending to be a moderate, and it's a flat-out lie.

00:30:15.400 She's far from a moderate, and she's lying about statistics.

00:30:19.060 She's saying that the AR-15 is a weapon of mass destruction, that it's too dangerous to have in civilian hands.

00:30:24.820 Just one little statistic to keep in mind.

00:30:28.040 In the year 2014, there were 5,562 deaths from handguns in the United States, only 248 from rifles of any kind.

00:31:06.460 Take away birthright citizenship.

00:31:07.680 The same exact proposal that Donald Trump trolled Democrats into opposing just yesterday.

00:31:12.880 Then he came out today.

00:31:13.960 He said, you know, I said that, but then my wife immediately told me it was wrong, and I agreed it was wrong.

00:31:18.960 B.S., because then a year later, Harry Reid doubled down on his support for that in a column for the L.A. Times and said that we should take away birthright citizenship.

00:31:29.220 Running away from that.

00:31:29.960 And finally, Lia Watha, Focahontas herself, running away from what she did, how she exploited Christine Ford and the confirmation for Brett Kavanaugh.

00:31:42.220 Here, very quickly, is Lia Watha getting caught with a major ethics complaint during a debate. 1.00

00:31:48.520 I would like to drill down on what Representative Deal said.

00:31:52.220 The fundraising while the vote was being taken on the Kavanaugh hearing, did you or did you not do that?

00:31:56.940 Actually, I don't know, and I don't know what the...

00:31:59.260 There has been an ethics...

00:32:00.200 Isn't there an ethics committee?

00:32:02.460 Yeah, there's an ethics complaint has been filed about a fundraising...

00:32:05.720 Then I will check into it, but I don't know.

00:32:10.640 Do you have any response to that?

00:32:11.920 I don't.

00:32:12.220 Representative Deal?

00:32:13.960 Chef Deal.

00:32:14.620 No, I have no... 0.99

00:32:15.560 Please let her keep hanging herself. 1.00

00:32:17.000 That's fine. 0.99

00:32:17.580 Please let her keep humiliating herself. 0.98

00:32:20.000 Oh, well, I'll look into it.

00:32:21.060 I don't... 1.00

00:32:21.620 Trump's a racist. 0.98

00:32:23.620 Yeah, that's it. 1.00

00:32:24.260 Those are your choices.

00:32:25.040 Those are your choices in this election.

00:32:26.620 Great booming economy, relative peace abroad.

00:32:29.260 Record low joblessness.

00:32:31.320 A president with no evidence that he's discriminated against anybody.

00:32:36.480 Total lies.

00:32:38.340 Greater freedom, greater equality, greater justice for all.

00:32:41.320 Or... 0.99

00:32:42.240 Trump's a racist. 1.00

00:32:44.320 Those are your two choices. 1.00

00:32:45.820 Those are the two campaigns.

00:32:47.080 I hope that the American voters pay attention on Election Day.

00:32:51.200 We've got to say goodbye to Facebook and YouTube.

00:33:05.740 Another Kingdom early.

00:33:07.640 So another Kingdom.

00:33:09.080 Anybody can listen to the audio on Fridays.

00:33:10.860 But you'll get to view it the Monday before.

00:33:14.380 You'll get to view all the beautiful artwork.

00:33:15.660 It's super cool.

00:33:16.520 Getting a lot of great attention and really good numbers.

00:33:19.360 So check it out.

00:33:20.300 And the Leftist Tears Tumblr.

00:33:21.580 Hopefully we're all going to need it on Tuesday.

00:33:22.980 Go to dailywire.com.

00:33:23.860 We'll be right back with the mailbag.

00:33:35.600 All right.

00:33:36.200 First question from Evan.

00:33:37.620 Hey, Michael.

00:33:39.000 I was wondering what you think Trump's greatest accomplishments have been so far in his presidency.

00:33:43.860 Keep up the good work.

00:33:45.000 All of the show.

00:33:45.820 Thanks.

00:33:47.340 The greatest accomplishment, probably the most long-lasting accomplishment, is destroying the credibility of the mainstream media.

00:33:56.220 Or rather, exposing the uncredibility of the mainstream media.

00:34:01.080 Because he didn't destroy it.

00:34:02.680 They destroyed it themselves.

00:34:03.820 They have no credibility.

00:34:05.080 No question about that.

00:34:06.280 But he triggered them.

00:34:07.800 As Jon Stewart was saying the other day, he triggered them into exposing it.

00:34:12.280 He triggered them into exposing themselves as hack-partisan narcissists who take everything personally,

00:34:17.820 who pretend that they are the most important, glorious heroes on the face of the earth.

00:34:22.480 And he showed them for what they are, which is partisan hack-narcissists.

00:34:27.060 That's the most important.

00:34:28.220 The second most important are the judges.

00:34:30.020 The judges are so important.

00:34:32.420 He's gotten a lot more judges through than anybody thought he would at this point, two on the Supreme Court, countless others at the federal courts.

00:34:39.400 And they will shape, in large part, how the country is governed.

00:34:44.120 In some ways, this is too bad because we want our country to be governed out of the legislature and then out of the executive.

00:34:49.880 We want judges to call balls and strikes. 0.98

00:34:51.880 But the left has weaponized the legislature for so long, and President Trump has been able to undo a lot of that.

00:34:59.400 And we now have institutions like the Federalist Society and other legal societies that can ensure that we get fair, serious, good players on the benches.

00:35:08.900 President Trump has done that.

00:35:09.960 Cocaine Mitch gets a lot of credit for that, too.

00:35:11.960 That's an amazing legacy, and that will long, long outlive his presidency.

00:35:15.500 Even if he were, heaven forfend, impeached tomorrow, it would long outlive his presidency, and it's excellent work.

00:35:21.800 He's done great on everything else, too.

00:35:24.540 And there's some signal.

00:35:25.660 The one weakness is that they haven't reformed entitlements or made moves, really, in that direction.

00:35:30.780 There has been some signal recently that they might do it.

00:35:33.340 On everything else, he gets an A+.

00:35:34.860 On every other question, he gets an A+, but those two are the most important.

00:35:38.120 From Dan.

00:35:39.200 Michael, I like the Brett Kavanaugh costume, but isn't gray hair, like blackface, kind of a face? 0.56

00:35:46.460 This is a great question.

00:35:48.220 I suppose now, I've been trying not to admit this in public, but because you've accused me of cultural appropriation, I will have to admit this.

00:35:58.160 My head of hair is one 1,024th gray.

00:36:02.280 It is.

00:36:03.120 The other day, I was in the mirror.

00:36:04.860 I found one little gray hair right here. 0.99

00:36:07.420 And so my hair is more gray than Elizabeth Warren is Indian. 0.69

00:36:11.940 But I think as a result now, I can go out and portray myself as grayer than Brett Kavanaugh because I am one 1,024th gray, a gray American.

00:36:24.200 Great question, though.

00:36:25.100 Thank you.

00:36:25.460 Actually, it's a real burden that I can, it's off my shoulders now that I can make that confession to you.

00:36:31.000 From Benjamin.

00:36:31.840 Dear Michael, King of Covfefe.

00:36:34.720 Earlier this month, my girlfriend and I broke up because she felt that God was telling her we needed to take a break.

00:36:41.280 Heard that one before, buddy.

00:36:42.640 I'm sorry to hear it.

00:36:43.760 He goes on.

00:36:44.240 So she can deal with anxiety in her life.

00:36:47.320 I was not hearing that at all.

00:36:49.680 In fact, I was beginning to think that I wanted to marry her.

00:36:52.560 The past month has been very hard for me.

00:36:54.660 I'm wondering if I try to move on or wait and see if she comes back after she works through her anxiety.

00:37:00.520 I don't want to give up on our relationship, but I don't think my heart could take waiting months for her, only to find out she's already moved on.

00:37:06.660 Any advice would be appreciated.

00:37:07.680 Thanks.

00:37:07.920 Love the show.

00:37:11.140 Oh, where to begin?

00:37:12.720 You should not give up entirely.

00:37:16.300 It depends.

00:37:17.000 I don't know the details of this breakup.

00:37:18.660 First of all, she just broke up with you.

00:37:20.380 It's not because God told her to.

00:37:22.360 It's not because of some transcendent experience.

00:37:25.320 She broke up with you. 0.68

00:37:26.300 She broke up with you. 0.68

00:37:27.160 You didn't want to break up, and she broke up with you. 0.80

00:37:29.700 Period.

00:37:30.700 So you got dumped.

00:37:32.040 Okay.

00:37:33.640 Now, you really like the girl, and you don't want to take no for an answer on having a relationship with her.

00:37:39.060 Okay, fair enough.

00:37:39.960 Just because the girl broke up with you doesn't mean that you won't get back together at some point in the future.

00:37:46.640 You should be around, but you should not wait around.

00:37:50.920 Ovid, the great ancient writer, has a good book called Remedia Amoris, The Cure for Love.

00:37:56.720 He has a lot of suggestions for how to get over a relationship, to get over a love affair.

00:38:03.820 And I won't say them here because they're probably too vulgar for this family show, but you can give it a read and entertain those ideas if you like.

00:38:09.900 You should be around but not wait around.

00:38:13.120 Go on dates with other girls.

00:38:14.300 Go see other girls. 0.98

00:38:15.320 Go talk to them.

00:38:16.200 Go meet a girl at a bar or in class or at whatever hobby you do or on one of the apps or something.

00:38:22.800 Meet girls.

00:38:23.440 Go out.

00:38:23.780 You got dumped.

00:38:24.820 You're single.

00:38:26.240 Go talk to girls. 0.67

00:38:27.080 Go explore.

00:38:27.780 A lot of fish in the sea.

00:38:29.120 If you really, really like the girl, be around.

00:38:31.540 Maybe when she wises up, comes to her senses, then you guys can get back together.

00:38:36.000 But don't wait around because no girl wants some schlub who's just waiting around. 1.00

00:38:41.300 It doesn't seem very manly.

00:38:44.520 Women want a guy who's behaving at all in a manly way. 1.00

00:38:46.780 I'm not exactly an Adonis myself, but there are certain things that you can do to better your situation, and that's one of them.

00:38:53.880 Be around, sure, but definitely don't wait around.

00:38:56.380 From Andy.

00:38:57.740 Hey, Michael.

00:38:58.260 I've got a Socratic seminar in my teaching class next week discussing whether literacy should be a right or not.

00:39:05.100 I disagree because it's a good and places an obligation on taxpayers and others.

00:39:10.140 Are there any other points that I could bring up to support my side since I know for a fact I'll be in a small minority?

00:39:15.980 Andy.

00:39:16.240 The question, is literacy a right, is a nonsense.

00:39:25.820 It is a blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

00:39:27.900 It doesn't mean anything, so I'm a little stumped on how you could even respond to it.

00:39:32.200 Literacy is a skill.

00:39:34.140 You have to learn how to read.

00:39:36.340 You say, oh, I skipped every class from first grade to college, and so I don't know how to read or do anything else.

00:39:44.360 But I demand it. It's my right.

00:39:46.380 No, it's a skill. It's not a right.

00:39:48.840 You know, I think that whitewater rafting is a right.

00:39:55.180 It's a right, so I'm going to go do it.

00:39:57.240 I think, you know, I think that surfing is a right, so I can't understand why I'm not very good at surfing.

00:40:03.500 Because it's a right, isn't it?

00:40:04.600 No, it's a skill, and it requires work, and it requires character and virtue and discipline to learn how to read.

00:40:10.320 It's a skill.

00:40:11.060 Well, unfortunately, in this country, a lot of people are treating skills as though they are rights,

00:40:15.580 which is why they can't do anything, and they can't get a job, or they can't get the job that they want.

00:40:20.660 It's a skill.

00:40:21.700 And if your classmates and teachers had acquired the skill of literacy and the other skills of education, 1.00

00:40:30.740 maybe they wouldn't ask such a stupid question. 0.99

00:40:32.520 From Ryan, if the founders were alive today and saw how our federal government has expanded, would they rebel against it? 1.00

00:40:41.760 No, they wouldn't.

00:40:43.400 I know that's an unpopular opinion.

00:40:45.000 I know that even among conservative and certainly libertarian circles, we say, oh, they would be shocked.

00:40:49.780 They would rebel.

00:40:50.400 There would be a revolution.

00:40:51.320 No, they wouldn't.

00:40:51.840 The federalists understood that we needed a robust federal government.

00:40:57.440 Alexander Hamilton favored a monarchy rather than the presidency.

00:41:01.140 And Thomas Jefferson, the head of the anti-federalists and then ultimately the Jeffersonian Democrats,

00:41:06.760 out-federalisted the federalists when he made the Louisiana Purchase

00:41:10.040 and vastly expanded the scope of federal territory and of the size of the country and the federal government.

00:41:17.000 So, no, I don't think they would.

00:41:19.120 They would have a lot to criticize about our government, but I don't think the sheer size of it would be a source of criticism,

00:41:25.460 and I don't think they would rebel against it for that way.

00:41:27.920 I think really the federalists and the anti-federalists and the Jeffersonian Democrats, which the latter became,

00:41:32.760 I think they would sort of understand it because the natural progression, by the way, of government is to grow,

00:41:40.960 even among those great men.

00:41:42.560 It is to grow.

00:41:43.280 It is to take too much power.

00:41:44.380 So, I don't think they'd be surprised at all.

00:41:45.980 Should we whittle it down?

00:41:46.860 Would they think we should whittle it down?

00:41:48.180 Very probably, but I don't think that they would exactly revolt against it.

00:41:53.900 From Brett.

00:41:55.000 Dear Michael, do you like beer?

00:41:56.660 No, I'm kidding.

00:41:57.240 It's not from that, Brett.

00:41:58.400 But, dear Michael, do you think that the mail bombs will have any effect on the midterms?

00:42:03.940 Thanks a ton, Brett.

00:42:05.540 No, I don't.

00:42:06.740 I don't think they will.

00:42:07.420 I feared that they would.

00:42:08.780 I don't think that it's been reflected in polling that it stopped Republican momentum

00:42:12.040 or that it has turned momentum in favor of Democrats.

00:42:15.300 And the bombs didn't go off. 0.98

00:42:16.900 I think this guy seems to be a total lunatic who was homeless, living in a van, ex-stripper, clearly had psychological problems. 0.98

00:42:24.200 I don't think people care. 0.98

00:42:25.300 I think there have been a lot of distractions.

00:42:27.920 Look, if someone had been injured or killed, maybe it would have.

00:42:31.680 But because these were awful bombs that don't, in many cases, couldn't have even detonated, apparently, according to the New York Times,

00:42:37.920 I don't think people are taking it that seriously, which is good.

00:42:40.800 It's good because people weren't hurt, and it's good because it won't apparently hurt us with the elections.

00:42:45.120 This election is going to be about issues.

00:42:47.800 And Republicans have made issues out of illegal immigration, law and order, and the judges.

00:42:54.640 Democrats have shrieked and howled and cried racism.

00:42:57.920 And that's their issue.

00:42:58.680 They're running against Trump, and it puts them in a bad position because you can't win a campaign against somebody.

00:43:03.560 And I think you'll see, in the places where Democrats do win seats, it's because they'll have offered something other than just, rah, rah, racism.

00:43:11.740 That's not going to work.

00:43:12.980 You can't run against something.

00:43:14.100 From Riley.

00:43:15.600 On Monday, when you were talking about the death penalty, my roommate and I, we were both Catholic, and my roommate was listening along with me.

00:43:22.680 He said that what you were saying went against Catholic doctrine.

00:43:26.200 He stated that killing for killing was textbook eye for an eye.

00:43:29.920 I would like to know if you could prove definitively that the death penalty does not go against doctrine.

00:43:33.960 Thanks.

00:43:34.440 I sometimes listen to your show.

00:43:36.040 Of course, his opinion, the problem with his opinion is that it is not correct, though it is a popular misconception today.

00:43:46.540 St. Paul writes definitively about the legitimacy of the state in capital punishment, the legitimacy of execution by the civil authority.

00:43:57.100 St. Augustine writes about the same thing, father of the church.

00:43:59.960 St. Thomas Aquinas, doctor of the church, writes about the same thing.

00:44:02.800 The Council of Trent in the 16th century upheld the legitimacy of capital punishment by the civil authority.

00:44:08.640 Blessed Pius IX, blessed Pius IX, carried out capital punishment or sanctioned it as pope.

00:44:14.360 And Pope Pius XII was so supportive of the Nuremberg trials that were executing Nazi war criminals that he sent his own lawyers there to hasten them up.

00:44:24.340 He said, we wish to see this completed as quickly as possible.

00:44:28.180 And he sent his own lawyers to make sure those Nazis got what was coming toward them. 0.67

00:44:31.720 Even John Paul II, by the way, acknowledged the legitimacy of the four different types of punishment that we talked about on the show the other day.

00:44:39.740 Even while personally discouraging the use of capital punishment.

00:44:43.360 And Pope Benedict, the last pope, put it very, very well.

00:44:48.300 Which is, he said, quote, if a Catholic were to be at odds with the Holy Father on the application of capital punishment or on the decision to wage war,

00:44:55.740 he would not for that reason be considered unworthy to present himself to receive Holy Communion.

00:45:01.220 Which is to say, there can be a legitimate difference of opinion among Catholics on capital punishment.

00:45:05.700 I think clearly scripture, sacred tradition, the history of the Catholic Church upholds the perfect legitimacy of capital punishment.

00:45:16.660 But there can be legitimate disagreement there.

00:45:20.080 Pope Francis has confused this issue tremendously with his highly confusing revision to the catechism.

00:45:26.780 But I'm not going to concern myself with that.

00:45:31.160 Because even he wasn't able to suggest that capital punishment is intrinsically evil.

00:45:38.220 Because obviously it's not.

00:45:40.260 Do we have time for one more?

00:45:41.820 We have time for one more.

00:45:42.980 Last one.

00:45:43.620 Okay, fine.

00:45:44.120 From Arun.

00:45:45.500 Dear Dr. Kofefe, I'm one of those Indians on whose behalf white leftists are presuming to be offended about Apu.

00:45:53.020 What responsibility would you say I, as an American conservative, have to speak out against this fake outrage?

00:45:59.360 Any suggestions on how I can do so without being labeled a self-racist British collaborator or whatever the Indian equivalent of Uncle Tom is?

00:46:09.000 Or is fighting the left on this a losing battle?

00:46:11.960 Thank you.

00:46:12.560 Come again.

00:46:12.980 Great, great point.

00:46:17.560 I think that you should speak up.

00:46:20.340 I think that it's very important for racial, ethnic minorities who consider themselves right-wing,

00:46:29.160 who reject the identity politics of the left and of the Democrats, to speak up about it.

00:46:34.140 Because there's just more credibility when it comes from the racial minorities.

00:46:39.640 What the left does is has a bunch of shrieking white millennial women pretending to be offended on behalf of racial minorities. 1.00

00:46:48.900 And they get away with it because the only people who can point out that that's absurd who are speaking out very often are old white dudes in the Republican Party or the conservative movement.

00:46:58.800 And with some, I mean, you've now seen certain people coming out, obviously Kanye West wore the MAGA hat in the Oval Office and talked about liberals breaking up the black family.

00:47:07.360 So there are exceptions.

00:47:08.620 But it has a great impact.

00:47:10.720 And I think it's very important to do it.

00:47:12.620 And you will be called an Uncle Deepak or whatever the Indian version of Uncle Tom is.

00:47:18.020 You will be.

00:47:18.740 You absolutely will be. 0.70

00:47:19.780 You'll be called a racist against your own people.

00:47:21.800 That's what you've got to deal with. 0.97

00:47:23.300 And the left is mucky and vicious and slings insults and calumny all the time.

00:47:30.960 In fact, that's their only argument in the 2018 midterm elections.

00:47:34.780 That's the price of doing business.

00:47:36.240 I won't blame you if you don't do it, but you should speak out.

00:47:38.740 Okay, that's our show.

00:47:40.240 We've got a lot more coming up on Monday and, of course, Tuesday.

00:47:43.700 And we'll be following the election results on Tuesday as well.

00:47:46.260 In the meantime, listen to Another Kingdom.

00:47:48.340 It's very fun and super cool.

00:47:50.000 And it's certainly the last time I'll ever work as a performer in Hollywood.

00:47:53.680 So make sure that you check it out.
