Ep. 270 - The Day The Parties Switched
Summary
A new poll suggests that the Democratic Party is looking for a white guy to be their presidential nominee in 2020, and they want him to be a white guy like Bernie Sanders. But who is that white guy? Is it Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Corey Booker, or Joe Biden?

Democrats tell pollsters what they want in a 2020 presidential nominee, and one thing is clear,
00:00:06.260
Democrats really want a white guy. This should come as no surprise to those who have traced the
00:00:11.000
history of the Democrat Party, which was founded by white guy Andrew Jackson, preserved by white
00:00:16.340
guy slaveholders, resurrected by white guy Klansmen, and with the exception of one half of one guy has
00:00:22.460
exclusively elected white guy presidents. Then the government is likely to remain open as the
00:00:28.100
president's signal as he's willing to cave on funding for the wall. It's okay, though, don't
00:00:32.900
worry, because Republicans just voted to let thousands of criminals out of prison for some
00:00:37.140
reason, and transgenderism deals another brutal blow to the ideological left. I'm Michael Knowles,
00:00:42.700
and this is The Michael Knowles Show. Today is opposite day. Today is totally opposite day. I'm
00:00:54.120
upset with President Trump and the Republicans. I want to compliment Cenk Uygur. He actually did
00:00:59.760
something good. Democrats embrace being the party of white men. Republicans cave on the wall. They
00:01:04.560
let thousands of prisoners out of prison. We will get to all of that bizarre opposite day. But first,

00:02:35.120
Democrats have looked ahead to 2020, and they only want white guys. They don't know. Not women,
00:02:43.720
not black guys, not Hispanic people. Nope. Only white guys. There was a poll put out by a group
00:02:50.040
called Democracy for America. This was a major poll. This was a poll of 94,000 progressives,
00:02:56.960
self-identified progressives. Who is the number one choice for 2020? Oh, it's not Kamala. Oh, no,
00:03:03.340
no. It's not Corey Spartacus Booker. No, no, no, no. It is Bernie Sanders, who in 2020,
00:03:12.520
I think he'll be 179 years old in 2020. So he will be well past the constitutional mandate of being 35
00:03:20.560
years old. He'll be many multiples older than that. So he certainly can run. He might be a little old,
00:03:26.040
but it wasn't even close, by the way. Bernie Sanders blew his competition out of the water.
00:03:30.100
Remember, the next closest competitor was Joe Biden, also a white guy. But Bernie got three
00:03:36.780
times as many votes as Joe Biden. He blew it out of the water. So number two was Biden. And number
00:03:41.740
three, Beto O'Rourke. Now, you might be confused. You'd say with a name like Beto, that's not a white
00:03:47.200
guy. Actually, it is a white guy. His name is Robert Francis O'Rourke. He is entirely Irish. He is not at
00:03:52.860
all Mexican. So the first three guys, white guys. The first two guys, old white guys. Only when you
00:03:58.620
get to number four do you get Liz Warren. She's only 1,023, 1,024th white. She's obviously one 1,024th
00:04:07.120
Native American Indian. And then number five, you get Kamala Harris. So you actually can trace
00:04:14.140
gradations of white all the way down to Kamala Harris. You start with Bernie Sanders. He lives in
00:04:19.860
Vermont. He lives in basically the whitest state in America. Then you get to Joe Biden, still pretty
00:04:24.680
white. But, you know, he's got a little more Rust Belt vibe. Then you get to Beto O'Rourke. He's
00:04:28.760
completely white, but he's a fake Mexican. Then you get to Liz Warren. She's also completely white,
00:04:32.980
but she's got a little drop of Native American. Only when you get to Kamala Harris do you get
00:04:36.840
anything even resembling a racial minority, which, again, I wouldn't really care about, except Democrats
00:04:41.560
make a very big deal about being the party of racial minorities and women and this and that. And then in
00:04:48.340
reality, they're just the opposite. Don't just take this one poll. This one poll is not just an
00:04:53.300
outlier. MoveOn.org, that odious left-wing group, did another straw poll. And this one did not put
00:05:01.120
Bernie on top. It put Beto on top. So Beto was on top, then Joe Biden, and then Bernie Sanders was
00:05:09.980
number three. So, again, the exact same top three people born out again from that progressive poll,
00:05:17.500
now into MoveOn.org. Same three guys, different order. The really bad news for Democrats is the
00:05:23.380
Hill TV poll of who Democrats want for their 2020 nominee. The number three winner there was Bernie
00:05:29.920
Sanders, old white guy. The number two winner was Joe Biden, also old white guy. The number one winner,
00:05:36.060
none of the above, who, I guess, statistically is a white guy. If you just look at the numbers of
00:05:43.480
people in the United States, none of the above, you know, basically anyone else, you've got a very
00:05:48.520
good chance of that also being a white guy. So all three polls, privilege the white guys. This,
00:05:54.680
again, completely goes over. And in that Hill TV poll, the number fourth choice was Hillary Clinton,
00:06:01.900
incredibly. Number five was Elizabeth Warren. Then you got Kamala Harris. Then you got Cory Booker.
00:06:08.120
So, again, you see, it's funny. I mean, I would make the joke anyway, but you actually do see this
00:06:14.720
borne out in the MoveOn poll, the Hill TV poll. You see it borne out, these gradations of whiteness.
00:06:22.120
So, the Democrat Party, I don't know that they can really make this claim that they're the party of
00:06:27.100
intersectionality, that they're the party of tearing down the, you know, mean old white guy. But,
00:06:33.480
I mean, they're going to make it anyway. They're always going to make that claim. But it does show that
00:06:36.780
huge gap between the rhetoric of the Democrat Party and the reality. They say, we're for the
00:06:41.480
people. We want the popular vote. You don't really want the popular vote. You want the popular vote
00:06:46.060
if you're a Democrat because you think that it'll help you out in certain swing states.
00:06:50.940
Democrats don't want the popular vote. They won't even allow the popular vote in their own
00:06:54.740
nominating convention. They won't even allow the popular vote in their own primary campaigns.
00:07:00.480
That's why they rely on superdelegates, party elites, to come in and say, you're going to be the
00:07:05.260
nominee. Who cares about the will of the people? Okay, I've beaten up on Democrats enough. I
00:07:10.900
actually have to switch gears here and beat up on Republicans a little bit. The White House right
00:07:16.300
now is signaling that there will not be a government shutdown. Here's senior advisor to the president,
00:07:21.960
Kellyanne Conway, in a surprisingly contentious exchange on Fox and Friends this morning.
00:07:26.920
Well, first of all, let's not all acquiesce to the ridiculous soundbite that this is about a wall.
00:07:31.800
They're trying to make a wall, four-letter word, when the president's been talking about border
00:07:35.820
security all along, as have the Democrats until he became president. In 2006, they voted for the
00:07:41.800
Secure Offenses Act. That included Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden. 26 Democrats voted
00:07:47.040
for that. This past July, 10 of the 15 Democrats on the appropriate committee, the relevant committee,
00:07:54.660
Okay. Oh, this isn't about a wall. This isn't about, okay. And actually, later on in this interview,
00:08:02.640
Steve Doocy comes in and actually grills her a little bit. What's going to happen to this shutdown?
00:08:08.440
Why isn't the government going to shut down? The real reason we know that the government is not going
00:08:12.600
to shut down is that the Senate has voted on a, or is voting on a funding bill to fund the government
00:08:18.860
through February 8th. So it's a short-term funding bill. It's not a major one.
00:08:22.400
But what happens before February 8th, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats take control
00:08:26.880
of the House of Representatives. This raises a big question. Why did Trump back down? He told us,
00:08:32.940
I'm going to be proud to own the government shutdown. I will shut down the government in
00:08:37.120
order to build the wall and get $5 billion to build the wall on our border. Stephen Miller went on Face
00:08:42.040
the Nation, said exactly the same thing. One suggestion for why he did that is that he didn't
00:08:47.260
have the votes. Nancy Pelosi made this claim in the Oval Office.
00:08:50.740
The fact is, you do not have the votes in the House.
00:08:53.520
Nancy, I do. And we need border security. Nancy, Nancy, we need border security. It's very simple.
00:09:01.380
So we knew that President Trump didn't have the votes in the Senate because he would need 10
00:09:05.380
Democrats to switch over. But the question was, does he have the votes in the House or not?
00:09:09.940
And as Steve Doocy brought up on Fox & Friends, Paul Ryan doesn't want the wall. I think that's
00:09:15.900
fair to say. I don't think Paul Ryan wants the wall. I think if he did, he could have whipped up
00:09:19.320
the votes. But he doesn't. There are a lot of Republicans in the House who don't really want
00:09:23.660
the wall. They talk a good game when they're on the campaign trail, but they don't actually
00:09:27.840
believe in enforcing our immigration laws when they are governing. So my suggestion in all of this
00:09:36.000
was let the Democrats shut down the government or let Trump shut down the government or whoever
00:09:40.420
we're going to blame for shutting down the government. Let it happen because this is a
00:09:44.560
political winner for Republicans. One, it's the right thing to do just for the country and for our
00:09:49.240
system of laws. But two, it's politically beneficial for the Republican Party and for the
00:09:55.020
president. Why not let the Democrats, who are now so hysterical, so obsessively committed to open
00:10:02.100
borders? Why not let them shut down the government over that? They say keeping borders open, letting
00:10:07.680
thousands of illegal migrants cross the border, make a mockery of our laws, let them come in
00:10:14.280
willy-nilly, 3,000 people a day. They're so intent on that, that they're willing to shut down the
00:10:19.540
government. That's a great campaign commercial. That's a great way to enter into 2019. But they
00:10:24.160
wouldn't do it. There's an amazing irony here. There's a poll out from Gallup that says that when
00:10:30.100
Americans are considering all of the various political problems, they think the number one
00:10:34.180
problem is the government and the number two problem is illegal immigration. Here's an idea.
00:10:41.700
How about you shut down the government to stop illegal immigration? This is a win-win. This is
00:10:46.760
killing two birds with one stone or in the new PETA language, feeding two birds with one scone or
00:10:51.820
whatever idiom you want to use. This is a big win. People don't like the government, rightly so,
00:10:57.780
and they don't like illegal immigration. You can shut down the government and you can shut down
00:11:01.720
the government as a tactic to get $5 billion to build the wall and stop illegal immigration for
00:11:07.180
the near future. But they won't do it. And this is frustrating enough. Now I see the flip side of
00:11:13.760
this is what leverage does President Trump have? You shouldn't enter into a government shutdown if you
00:11:18.480
don't have leverage to reopen it. And the president doesn't have leverage to reopen the government.
00:11:22.920
I guess the only leverage would be once the Democrats take control of the House of Representatives,
00:11:28.460
then there's really no point in carrying on. So you could reopen and say, okay, we've dragged this
00:11:34.000
out for a month and got a lot of bad press for Democrats. And c'est la vie. Maybe we didn't get
00:11:38.400
the funding for the wall. But so what? Who cares? I understand there's not a lot of leverage there.
00:11:46.480
Now President Trump says he's going to get the military to build the wall.
00:11:48.900
Well, they'll get money from other agencies. They'll find it somewhere else. Okay. So we don't
00:11:54.760
get the wall. We are going to fund the government. It looks like the party is going to back down on
00:11:59.440
this just like they did twice, two other times this year. But at least the Republicans just voted
00:12:05.380
to let thousands of criminals out of prison. We'll get to the first act in a second, but a first step
00:12:10.060
act in a second. But first, let's make a little money with Purple Mattress. You know how much I love
00:12:13.940
Purple Mattress? Purple Mattress is, I'm a proselytizer for it. It is the greatest bed certainly
00:12:20.580
I've ever owned. It is not quite a memory foam. It's not an inner spring. It's this totally separate
00:12:25.980
thing. It's going to feel like nothing else you've ever tried. It was developed by a rocket scientist.
00:12:30.400
I absolutely love mine. It is both firm and soft at the same time. That sounds like it doesn't mean
00:12:36.080
anything. It does. It actually does. It's perfectly supportive. It sleeps really cool. So it doesn't bother
00:12:42.340
you in the summer. It's just fabulous. It's unique material is what does this. I wish that
00:12:50.380
I were a scientist so I could describe what it is, but I'm not. It feels like you have this
00:12:54.940
zero gravity feeling. I guess that's the best way I can describe it. You get a 100-night risk-free
00:12:59.280
trial. If you're not fully satisfied, you can return your mattress for a full refund. But you're
00:13:03.900
not going to want to. You're going to be feeling what I feel on my boudoir every night. Backed by a 10-year
00:13:07.800
warranty, free shipping and returns, free in-home setup, and old mattress removal. You're going to love
00:13:11.980
it right now. My listeners will get a free purple pillow with the purchase of a mattress. That is
00:13:16.560
in addition to the great free gifts that they're offering site-wide. Just text COVFEFE, C-O-V-F-E-F-E,
00:13:23.080
to 474747. That is the only way to get this free pillow. Text COVFEFE, C-O-V-F-E-F-E, to 474747.
00:13:31.140
C-O-V-F-E-F-E to 474747. Message and data rates may apply, but it's worth it because you'll get a sweet
00:13:39.720
purple pillow. So we don't shut down the government. We don't get the $5 billion for the
00:13:45.920
wall. But at least Republicans just voted on the First Step Act, which will let thousands of
00:13:51.340
criminals out of prison. Because that's how President Trump won, isn't it? That's how he
00:13:55.680
won his election. He said, look, we're not going to stop illegal immigration, but we will let thousands
00:14:00.800
of criminals out of prison. Yeah. And they said, yeah, let them out. Let them out. Unlock the prisoners.
00:14:06.920
Unlock the criminals, right? Was that what they were chanting at the rallies? No, I don't think
00:14:10.920
it was. They were chanting, build the wall and also lock her up. They actually wanted to put
00:14:15.740
more people into prison, particularly Hillary Clinton. This was a bad idea. I, you know, I,
00:14:20.800
I'm a supporter of the president. I'm a big supporter of this administration. They've done so
00:14:25.400
much good. And sometimes they do stuff like this. This First Step Act is just, what a bad idea. Tom
00:14:31.360
Cotton was against this Republican senator. He was a hardliner. He was kind of leading.
00:14:36.920
the conservatives against this in the Senate, but it failed. He tried to introduce some amendments
00:14:42.380
to kill the bill and it just didn't happen. Who is supporting this thing? Kim Kardashian is,
00:14:47.860
so great. The ACLU is supporting this. Van Jones, left winger on CNN, was celebrating. He was so happy
00:14:54.980
when this bill passed. Politics sure does make for strange bedfellows. Why on earth are we voting for
00:15:02.200
this when we could have built the wall? What does this, what does this bill do? Whenever you come
00:15:06.920
out against this First Step Act, the Criminal Justice Reform Spring the Criminals from Prison Act,
00:15:13.140
they, people accuse you, they say, you don't know what's in the bill. Well, I don't know. I'm not an
00:15:17.500
expert on the bill, but, but tell me if I'm wrong. Tell me if I get any of these bullet points wrong,
00:15:22.200
and then you can lecture me about not knowing what's in the bill. The bill will ease mandatory minimum
00:15:27.340
sentences under federal law. Right now, they're mandatory minimums that judges have to, have to
00:15:33.160
use when they're sentencing people, and this would ease those sentences. It would expand the so-called
00:15:37.660
safety valve so that judges can avoid them. So it puts a lot more discretion into the hands of judges,
00:15:43.840
which might be helpful to some criminals, but then again, when you just rely on the
00:15:50.620
capricious moods of judges, then you're, you're not really treating people with total equality
00:15:57.780
under the law. You're giving a lot of care to the whim and whimsy of judges. It would ease the three
00:16:04.400
strikes rule. So right now, there's a three strikes rule. If you get three or more convictions,
00:16:08.500
you will automatically get a sentence in certain cases of life in prison. Now that reduces that
00:16:13.600
dramatically to 25 years, and then the rest of the law can ease that to make it even shorter.
00:16:17.940
It also restricts the current practice of stacking gun charges. So right now, for instance, this is
00:16:24.820
what you always hear. You say, someone shouldn't serve life in prison for just possessing a little
00:16:29.800
dime bag of pot for personal use. Yeah, of course, I agree with that. Nobody disagrees with that in the
00:16:35.620
whole country. But the people who are in prison for simple possession, how many of them pled down
00:16:42.040
those charges for much more serious charges, from charges like dealing drugs?
00:16:47.940
You know, right, right now, we're at the height of an opioid epidemic of a drug epidemic that is so
00:16:53.920
bad, it's actually helping to reduce the average life expectancy in the United States. And we're
00:17:00.280
saying that we should go easier on drug dealers, many drug dealers who have pled down their crime to
00:17:05.520
a simple possession or something like that. And what the First Step Act will do is now not allow
00:17:10.580
prosecutors to stack gun charges. So if you're a drug dealer out on the streets, and you're packing heat,
00:17:16.460
prosecutors can stack that on top of your drug charge. Now they'll say, no, that's okay.
00:17:24.360
That's okay. The drug dealer was packing heat because, you know, it's a black market that's
00:17:27.880
awful and it gets Americans addicted to poison. But we shouldn't punish him for packing heat.
00:17:32.520
Ridiculous. It also increases good time credits that inmates can earn. Currently, inmates can get up to
00:17:38.880
47 days, credits of up to 47 days per year incarcerated. Now that increases to 54, which
00:17:46.420
allows relatively well-behaved inmates to cut their prison sentences by an additional week for each
00:17:51.960
year that they're incarcerated. But this is also retroactive, which means that the day this law goes
00:17:57.200
into effect, according to supporters of the bill, not critics, according to supporters of the bill,
00:18:02.000
4,000 prisoners will qualify for release that very day that it goes into effect. The bill will allow
00:18:09.460
earned time credits by participating in more vocational and rehabilitative programs. And what
00:18:14.500
do we mean by this rehabilitative program? This is really what the whole bill's about. Because they're
00:18:19.140
treating the criminal justice system as though it's only about rehabilitation. It's not about punishing
00:18:24.680
people. It's not about criminal justice. It's not about even deterring crime. Certainly not about those
00:18:30.280
two things. It's just about rehabilitation. It's a therapy session. I don't even know why we're only
00:18:35.960
restricting it to criminals. Why not? We could all use a little rehabilitation, couldn't we? So now you'll
00:18:41.180
get extra credits if you take part in rehabilitation programs. We also just found today, this broke,
00:18:47.580
that the federal government has paid $365,000 in recent years to the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan's
00:18:56.900
radical organization. The organization, obviously bigoted, refers to Jews as termites, to go into
00:19:03.900
prison and rehabilitate prisoners, which actually means radicalize prisoners into that perverse
00:19:09.720
ideology of the Nation of Islam. That's what we're talking about here when we talk about rehabilitation
00:19:13.580
programs. This is obviously a fundamental misunderstanding of the criminal justice system.
00:19:19.620
And I don't know which wing of the White House or which wing of the Republican Party is pushing
00:19:26.100
this sort of stuff. It seems so compassionate, doesn't it? I want people to get out of prison if
00:19:32.880
they've served their time, if they've been reformed. I really do. I'm not just a total hardliner. I know
00:19:37.540
people who were bad people, who killed people, who were real bad hombres, and they were totally
00:19:45.260
reformed in prison. One guy, I won't say his name, from New York, he is a born-again Christian. He's
00:19:53.080
one of the most charitable people. He's like a saint walking the earth, goes to mass every day. He's
00:19:57.980
just an incredible man. You can be reformed in prison. I hope that happens. That's a wonderful
00:20:02.660
thing to do. That's not an excuse to spring thousands of people out of prison long before their sentences
00:20:09.560
are over with the dubious evidence that they've been reformed in some way, that they're not going
00:20:15.780
to go. And now to make it easier for people who are dealing poison out on the streets carrying guns
00:20:21.260
while they do it to avoid long jail sentences, that's not the way to do it. It's a total
00:20:27.140
misunderstanding of the criminal justice system. Another aspect here, this is like really opposite
00:20:32.280
day. President Trump's administration is now banning bump stocks. The bump stocks are, they're on,
00:20:38.000
you put the bump stock on your rifle and then you basically hold the trigger and you can pull the,
00:20:42.920
if you run your hand, this is getting a little graphic for a family show, but if you run your
00:20:47.840
hand down the length of the gun, it will simulate what would seem like an automatic weapon so you can
00:20:54.260
fire more rapidly. You can't really aim at anything so it's not a terribly useful tool, but he's now,
00:21:00.000
the administration has banned these. This is because of that shooting in Las Vegas in 2017
00:21:04.360
that killed 58 people and injured hundreds more. Bump stock was used in that shooting. Bump stocks
00:21:10.680
are virtually never used in shootings, but it was used in that one, so now they want to ban it.
00:21:15.720
Banning bump stocks would not have saved a single life in that shooting. There's no evidence of that.
00:21:20.680
That shooting went on for 10 minutes. Just pulling the trigger, 1-1-1-1-1, you could easily kill and
00:21:29.060
injure all of those people in the course of 10 minutes. The shooter wasn't found for an hour.
00:21:34.280
His body killed himself and then his body wasn't found for an hour. A bump stock ban would not have
00:21:40.120
saved a single life in Las Vegas. Just as always happens when there's a mass shooting, the left wing
00:21:45.420
calls for gun control and then you say, which gun control law would have prevented the shooting?
00:21:50.240
Which gun control law would have saved a life? And they say, I don't know, I just want to do something.
00:21:54.420
Well, you've got to do something that's helpful. You can't just do something and then pat yourself on
00:22:01.600
the back and say, oh gosh, aren't I a good person? You haven't accomplished a single thing.
00:22:05.880
Even more shocking than my frustration with the Trump administration in the last week
00:22:11.400
is I actually think Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks got something right. I know, I know this is shocking.
00:22:19.780
This comes in the wake of Tucker Carlson's comment. Tucker Carlson's under fire,
00:22:23.260
the left wing radical groups are calling for a boycott of his Fox News show. And it's because
00:22:28.260
of this comment. We have a moral obligation to admit the world's poor, they tell us,
00:22:32.720
even if it makes our own country poorer and dirtier and more divided. Immigration is a form
00:22:38.580
of atonement. Previous leaders of our country committed sins. We must pay for those sins by
00:22:44.600
welcoming an endless chain of migrant caravans. So he's right about that point. He's right about the
00:22:49.920
white guilt and the ideology of open borders. But did you catch what word got him in trouble?
00:22:55.480
It's, yeah, it was the dirty. Said it would make our country dirtier. And just as a very simple
00:23:03.320
observation, poor countries are dirtier than clean countries, than rich countries. That's certainly
00:23:11.420
the case. I have traveled to the third world. I have lived in the first world. I've probably gone
00:23:17.080
to the second world. I don't know exactly where the second world is. I've been all over. And of course
00:23:21.160
it is. Of course, poorer countries are dirtier. They don't have the same resources for sanitary systems
00:23:28.060
and things like that. So he makes that point. Should he have used a different word? Maybe.
00:23:33.880
Are all illegal immigrants, people who come here from bad places, are they all dirty when they come
00:23:41.980
here? No. At least not for very long. You know, you can acclimate to America pretty well. So yeah,
00:23:46.540
okay, maybe you shouldn't have used that word. Is it the end of the world? No, I don't think so.
00:23:50.900
And now the left is just jumping on this to call for a boycott of Tucker's program. I mean,
00:23:55.580
they've just been waiting. They call for boycotts of everybody's programs all the time. And you notice
00:24:01.040
the right doesn't call for boycotts of left-wing programs. Very, very rarely does that happen.
00:24:06.280
Generally speaking, we let them spout their nonsense and we just say what we want to say.
00:24:11.340
I've never called for a boycott of Rachel Maddow's program because if I did, I'd be arguing myself out
00:24:16.760
of a job. So I certainly wouldn't want to do that. So shock of all shocks here on Opposite Day,
00:24:22.120
Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks came out swinging in defense of Tucker Carlson.
00:24:25.780
I think as odious as Tucker Carlson's comments are, he gets to make them and we get to make
00:24:32.140
the counter argument. It's not a First Amendment issue. These advertisers have every right
00:24:36.200
to put their ads anywhere they like. They're not the government. Okay, but as a general principle,
00:24:42.660
I believe in freedom of speech. And I believe that in the marketplace of ideas and you can say,
00:24:47.300
hey, that's hokey, Cenk. And it's not right. And it's, you know, one is on a cable news station
00:24:52.300
powered by billions of dollars that Rupert Murdoch put in. And you guys are online and it's a totally
00:24:57.040
different animal. We'll take them on anyway and we will beat them anyway. And we're beating them
00:25:01.900
today. So I think they should let us battle it out. But now the sponsors are pulling it. I don't
00:25:08.380
know what you think, Adam. He's absolutely right about that. I will point out, though, he lays this
00:25:13.400
caveat. He says, and it's a cable news station and Tucker's powered by zillions of dollars from
00:25:18.420
Rupert Murdoch. Yeah, true. The Young Turks has a studio at YouTube. Don't they? I think I'm getting
00:25:24.900
that right. I don't want to say anything that's untrue. I am 99.9% sure the Young Turks have a
00:25:31.400
studio at YouTube, which is powered by essentially the biggest corporation in the history of the world.
00:25:36.860
So let's not throw stones here. But he makes a very good point. You're right. It's private
00:25:43.440
businesses. It's cable news. It's whatever. So people can boycott. It's not a government issue.
00:25:49.940
It's not a First Amendment issue. But they shouldn't. Just let him say what he wants to
00:25:54.120
say. We can have a dialogue. He gets it. He gets this exactly right. This is where if the left is
00:25:59.820
smart, they will move. This is the sort of thing that they'll embrace. Cenk is still a left of Lenin on
00:26:06.480
just about everything else. But they're going to be the snake that eats its own tail if they keep it up
00:26:12.000
with this censorship stuff because they're just slowly going to destroy themselves and censor
00:26:16.220
themselves. There was this woman, this feminist writer in Canada who disagreed with the transgender
00:26:21.740
ideology. She's a left winger. She's a feminist writer. They banned her from Twitter because the
00:26:29.420
snake was eating its own tail. And this is what's going to happen to the left. It's just going to
00:26:33.260
totally destroy itself unless they get on board with what Cenk is saying. And I think that's probably
00:26:38.660
why he's saying it. We have a lot more to get to. Great stuff from Dan Crenshaw. He is that
00:26:43.980
congressman, war hero. He was injured in battle, lost an eye. And also, speaking of transgenderism,
00:26:51.680
transgenderism is one of the greatest gifts the left has ever given us. It's ripping down another
00:26:56.920
leftist fantasy in abortion and some more craziness at Mount Holyoke College. But first,
00:27:03.780
if you happen to like books with words, and I don't, I mean, I'm sort of take them or leave them,
00:27:10.240
you are going to love Ben Shapiro's latest release, The Right Side of History, How Reason and Moral
00:27:16.100
Purpose Made the West Great. Its official release date is March 19th, but you lucky listeners can
00:27:21.820
preorder your copy online right now at any major bookseller. Trust me, it is very, very good. It pains
00:27:28.120
me to make an earnestly nice comment about Ben, but it's really good. I read an advanced copy about
00:27:34.540
it months ago, and it's really a good book. It's terrific. It fills a real need. I think you will
00:27:40.560
learn a ton from this book. I think it will be extremely helpful for the culture. And I think
00:27:45.600
it's the most important, the second, I'm sorry, the second most important book to come out in the last
00:27:50.540
two years. The second most informative, the second best written book, the second most comprehensive
00:27:57.720
guide to Western civilization in the last two years. If you haven't read the first, you know,
00:28:03.280
you got to head over and do that. But Ben's book is really good. You should preorder it. This thing
00:28:06.420
is going to sell out in a second. There's no question about it. Today at 5.30 Eastern, 2.30 Pacific,
00:28:11.180
Ben will also be taking all of your questions and blowing your mind with his wisdom live on air.
00:28:15.420
We have got to stop letting Ben write my damn reads for this show. I'm not going to say this
00:28:20.720
anymore. All right. Elisha Krauss will be there to collect all the leftist tears so that the great
00:28:25.460
flood does not happen again. If you're on dailywire.com, thank you. You keep the lights on over
00:28:30.940
here. Covfefe in my cup. If not, go to dailywire.com. You know, you'll get everything. You'll get all the
00:28:36.480
shows and the questions, get your mailbag questions, and that'll be tomorrow. You get the leftist
00:28:41.000
years tumbler. This is what you get. It's very, very important. You're going to need it. We're
00:28:46.720
moving into Christmas time. You know, the left has a real tough time around Christmas. They don't
00:28:51.460
like that word. They don't like the particularity of it. They don't like all the joy and the happiness
00:28:55.540
and the family and the merriment. You're going to need this. You're going to need it, especially
00:28:59.100
because I'm dreaming of a white Christmas when all those fluffy, salty tears come down there.
00:29:03.080
They have much more volume than the liquid. You're going to need probably two of these. Go subscribe
00:29:06.900
twice. Go to dailywire.com. We'll be right back with a lot more.
00:29:11.000
Dan Crenshaw, super cool guy, rising star in the Republican Party. You'll remember him because
00:29:25.460
on SNL, that kid Pete Davidson made a joke about him and said he looked like a porn star pirate or
00:29:32.620
something. I don't really remember the joke. It didn't land and this was controversial because
00:29:37.400
Dan Crenshaw was a war hero who lost his eye defending our freedom, yours and my freedom,
00:29:43.600
defending our country. And so they kind of made up. Dan Crenshaw was very gracious about the whole
00:29:47.860
thing and he even went on SNL and for a fleeting moment made SNL funny again. And anyway, this week,
00:29:55.080
Pete Davidson, the SNL kid, sent out what was essentially a suicide note on Instagram and said
00:30:02.020
he doesn't want to live in this world anymore. He's trying to stick around, but he doesn't know
00:30:05.840
how long he can last. He's talked about depression before and his battles with mental health. There is
00:30:12.060
a suicide epidemic in this country. I've seen it up close. It's really, really nasty. It's
00:30:18.520
disproportionately affecting millennials. Teen suicide is up 70%. So this really is no laughing matter. This
00:30:24.560
is a real serious thing. And so everyone went to his side. Pete Davidson deleted all of his social
00:30:30.500
media accounts and Dan Crenshaw actually gave him a call and it was a standup thing to do and the
00:30:36.120
right thing to do. And here he is talking about it. Actually, I talked to him personally yesterday
00:30:41.260
and then talked to him for a little bit about it. And you know, we don't go back very far. We're not
00:30:45.560
good friends, but I think he appreciated hearing from me. And what I told him was this. Everybody has
00:30:51.880
a purpose in this world. God put you here for a reason. But it's your job to find that purpose.
00:30:56.760
Okay. And you should live that way. You should live that way, always seeking out that purpose,
00:31:01.240
not expecting it to be given to you by anybody else. And know that you have value and that you
00:31:05.300
maybe do more good than you realize for people, especially a guy like that. You know, he makes
00:31:09.440
people laugh. Sometimes he makes people mad, but he also makes people laugh a lot. You know,
00:31:14.600
and that's what we talked about. It was a good conversation.
00:31:17.220
That's the right thing to say. It's very important to remember this when we're talking to people on,
00:31:22.200
especially on Twitter, but even on the air in politics or usually to people's faces,
00:31:28.640
everyone's really nice. It's only on the air when they're writing or from behind a computer screen
00:31:33.240
that they get really, really mean. You do have to remember you're encountering an eternal soul.
00:31:39.040
Every person you talk to, you're encountering an eternal soul. C.S. Lewis writes about this a lot.
00:31:44.720
It's almost a scary thought because especially in a culture that's a little more materialistic,
00:31:50.600
we like to think of everything as just being what we see. So I'm, you know, this is a golden,
00:31:57.180
wonderful vessel of leftist tears and, you know, I can hear it and it's just, that's all it is.
00:32:02.240
It's just material. My body is just material. When people die, they just turn to worm food. They
00:32:07.060
take a dirt nap. They dissolve. But that isn't really true. There is a physical world and there's
00:32:11.420
a metaphysical world. And we are both. We are both physical and metaphysical. We have a body
00:32:17.160
and we have a soul. We have a, both of those are intertwined. We're not, I know it's fashionable
00:32:23.280
today among sophomoric atheists to pretend that the soul doesn't exist, but it does.
00:32:29.180
And when you encounter people, you're encountering a soul as well. You're not, this is really hard.
00:32:34.180
I mean, especially when it comes to the hookup culture or dating or whatever, you're, it's very
00:32:40.860
tempting to use people. Everyone, this is a ubiquitous temptation. I get it. But you don't just use
00:32:46.740
people sexually. You can use them professionally. You can use people for social climbing. You can
00:32:53.660
use people, I don't know, to get a favor out of them or something. And it's, it's really not the
00:32:58.300
right thing to do. If you're not convinced of that as an ethical or moral matter, at least be convinced
00:33:04.260
of it this way. You might see them again someday. You might see these people in heaven. That's what
00:33:08.800
C.S. Lewis describes. You might see them in another world and you say, oh, remember when I met you?
00:33:13.300
Oh, gosh, I shouldn't have said that. I shouldn't have done that. And so it's very important.
00:33:18.160
I try to do this. Everybody fails at it. Is that's not to say be a squish. That's not to say be a,
00:33:23.240
just a nice guy all the time. Be really low energy. Make your point. Fight for what you believe. Cut.
00:33:31.020
Be serious. Go to rhetorical battle. Absolutely. But don't say something you're going to regret.
00:33:37.280
Don't say something in the heat of the moment that you wish you hadn't said. That's true of
00:33:43.140
when you're talking to a friend or a family member or some stranger on the internet. Don't always try
00:33:48.840
to, to be able to, to defend what you're saying and to be able to stand by what you're saying.
00:33:55.620
And, you know, don't be mean just for the purpose of being mean or cruel. You don't have to do that.
00:34:00.680
You can be cutting. You can be brutal. You can totally own the libs without doing that.
00:34:06.260
I said, look, it's very funny when people are mean to each other on the internet. It's perfectly
00:34:09.060
fine. It doesn't bother me in that personal way, but it will bother you over time and it will make
00:34:14.540
you more crass and you more cruel. Imagine, I mean, imagine how this also could have played out.
00:34:20.640
Pete Davidson, the SNL comedian, makes this bad joke about Dan Crenshaw and Crenshaw goes and he
00:34:27.880
slams him and he's really mean to him and he says he's a terrible person. And then let's say Pete
00:34:31.680
Davidson followed through on his threat. What would we be looking at? I mean, that would be a really
00:34:36.480
terrible thing. You couldn't ever forgive yourself for something like that. So it's important to
00:34:41.140
remember there are people there and it's not just people in the way that we think about people in a
00:34:45.620
very modern way. We're talking about souls and you're going to have to see them someday and you
00:34:49.960
better not want to run away from them in heaven because that's going to be very awkward. Heaven is full of
00:34:54.260
light and you can't hide. There aren't many places that you can hide in up there. Some other good
00:34:59.800
news, transgenderism is ripping down this leftist fantasy of abortion. Now this actually speaks to
00:35:07.240
the soul as well. This is a story that comes right from the left, which once denied the soul, is now
00:35:12.360
admitting that the soul exists. You saw over the weekend, there was that guy competing for the Miss
00:35:18.720
Universe pageant. So this guy, Miss Spain, is a dude who now either has had surgery or dresses like
00:35:26.560
a woman or has had surgery and dresses like a woman. And he didn't win, but he did very well in the
00:35:33.660
Miss Universe pageant. Here is what he has to say about the question of whether or not he is a woman.
00:35:39.800
I'll translate because I assume most of you don't speak Spanish.
00:35:43.160
He says, having a vagina does not make me a woman. I am a woman and already was before my birth
00:35:51.760
because my identity is here in my mind, not down there. I love this story. I love the fact of
00:36:02.960
transgenderism. I mean, it's not good for the people who suffer from the condition, but the ideology is
00:36:08.740
very good for exposing the bizarre contradictions within the left. Because what they've just admitted,
00:36:18.480
what Miss Spain just admitted by the process of transgenderism is not just that he was a woman
00:36:25.760
before he was born, but that he was before he was born, that he was anything before he was born.
00:36:32.220
What the pro-abortion left wants us to believe is that you don't exist until the very moment that
00:36:39.660
you are born. Two minutes before you're born, oh, you're just a clump of cells. You're just a random
00:36:44.800
mishmash. You don't even look like a human. Oh, don't look at that sonogram. Oh, don't know. Don't
00:36:50.040
feel the baby kick. No, no. It's just a mishmash of cells. Only once you're born do you become a
00:36:55.380
human. And what Miss Spain just said is, I was a woman before I was born. And so it's acknowledging
00:37:03.080
the humanity of the unborn baby, what we call the fetus, which really just means offspring or the
00:37:09.880
embryo or whatever they want to talk about. It's acknowledging that that is a human life.
00:37:15.060
But what Miss Spain is talking about is even further, which is at the heart of the transgender
00:37:19.720
ideology itself. It's at the heart both of the condition and the ideology, which is that
00:37:24.700
humans are not just physical objects. We have a soul. So I might be a man. You can check under
00:37:31.480
the hood down there, you know, and everything checks out. I've got whiskers. I have a deep voice
00:37:36.640
and a big Adam's apple. I am a man. I've got a Y chromosome. But in a non-physical, in a metaphysical
00:37:44.620
sense, in a deeper reality, I am really a woman. And this is the universal claim of transgenderism.
00:37:53.660
But in order for that to be true, there has to be a metaphysical reality. There has to be a soul.
00:38:00.060
You have to be something more than just your physical body. This is a very difficult thing
00:38:06.620
for the left, for leftist materialists, for leftist atheists who say there is nothing beyond the body.
00:38:13.180
There is nothing beyond the physical world. Well, if that's true, then transgenderism is even more
00:38:17.680
ridiculous than it is in a world with a soul. If that's true, then what are they claiming? Then
00:38:22.820
they're truly just babbling nonsense. Now, it's also nonsense in the world where there's a metaphysical
00:38:28.740
reality as well. But it's at least much more plausible in that world. It cuts against this.
00:38:35.560
And the reason this issue is so good, I mean, the reason why for the conservative side, I'm glad that
00:38:42.580
transgenderism, which actually only affects 0.2% of the population, if that, I mean, a very vanishingly
00:38:51.600
small percentage of the population. The reason that this has dominated the national conversation
00:38:56.940
is because the left has to work out all of these issues and challenges that it poses for its ideology
00:39:03.540
because it poses a ton of them. It just smashes down the notion that men and women are exactly the
00:39:10.400
same or the notion that feminism makes. Either men and women are exactly the same or they're not
00:39:17.620
exactly the same. Either sexual differences are natural or they don't exist. They're just sort of
00:39:23.480
socially constructed. Well, if they're socially constructed, what is a woman? What is feminism?
00:39:28.160
If gender doesn't really matter at all, then why would someone surgically mutilate himself,
00:39:34.320
go to such great lengths to try to more closely resemble a woman? If a metaphysical reality does
00:39:40.060
not exist, then how can someone be a man but not a man, really? What does really even mean in that
00:39:45.920
scenario? It raises a lot of really good questions. I think, you know, we're shocked by the ridiculousness
00:39:52.640
of it. But rather than exclusively making fun of the ridiculousness of it, we should do that,
00:39:58.260
you know, 92% of the time. But for the rest of the time, follow that train of thought. Think about
00:40:03.700
why this issue has cropped up in the imagination of Democrats and left-wingers. It's because they're
00:40:09.040
extraordinarily confused in their thinking. And this is a good opportunity to bring some clarity
00:40:14.160
to it. I mean, nowhere is this more visible than at Mount Holyoke College. Mount Holyoke College
00:40:20.640
is traditionally a girls-only school. The current logo of Mount Holyoke College, MHC, has the H and the
00:40:30.260
C combined to form the Venus symbol. That's the female gender symbol, you know. And now this is very
00:40:38.220
offensive. You're not allowed to do this anymore. Why? Because in 2015, the college decided it would no
00:40:43.760
longer be a women's-only college. It would also admit trans women, which is to say men. So the
00:40:49.880
college now is, it's a women's-only college still, but the way they describe it is it's a gender-diverse
00:40:56.780
women's college. It's a not-only-women-women's college. It's a women's-not-women's college. Okay.
00:41:05.240
It's a contradiction of a college. The president of Mount Holyoke College, Lynn Pasquarela, said,
00:41:11.220
quote, we recognize that what it means to be a woman is not static. Just as early feminists argued
00:41:17.520
that reducing women to their biological functions was a foundation of women's oppression, we acknowledge
00:41:22.800
that gender identity is not reducible to the body. Right. I'm sure those early feminists are so happy
00:41:30.640
now. They're just dancing in their graves or dancing up in heaven that now that their women's-only
00:41:36.620
college is no longer allowed only to admit women. What a huge striving for feminism. What a great
00:41:43.660
leap forward. So not only do they say this nonsense, but after the protests of this symbol,
00:41:50.260
a Mount Holyoke spokesman responded and said, it is now evident to us that this symbol,
00:41:56.980
the Venus symbol, the female gender symbol, has a long history of exclusion connected to movements
00:42:03.540
that while trailblazing for some groups represents the erasure of others. We have thus determined that
00:42:09.780
the college cannot move forward with a word mark that references this symbol. And it is true. The
00:42:17.180
Venus female gender symbol does exclude some people, namely men. The women's symbol excludes men
00:42:26.600
because the very definition of women until five seconds ago was and is not men. That's true. It's
00:42:34.620
exclusive. It's not tolerant in the silly way that we talk about tolerance now. But words are
00:42:43.780
exclusive. Discreet things are exclusive. This is a pen. This is not a watermelon. That's so exclusive.
00:42:52.080
Isn't that so exclusive? I want it to be all things to all people. I want to be all things to
00:42:56.540
all people. That's the typical cowardice of our age. We demand to be all things to our people. And
00:43:01.340
when you try to be all things to all people, you are nothing to anybody. When you try to be a friend
00:43:07.780
to all, in reality, you are a friend to none. You have to stand for something or you will fall for
00:43:13.360
anything. How many more simple platitudes can I possibly utter? And there must be like 20 more of
00:43:18.180
those. This is the mistake that Mount Holyoke College is admitting, the competency of Mount
00:43:22.440
Holyoke College. The point, the raison d'etre of Mount Holyoke College is to be a women's college.
00:43:28.740
If it ceases to be a women's college, it doesn't become twice as great. It becomes nothing.
00:43:34.280
If the Venus symbol, if womanhood is not allowed to be womanhood, the thing that the Venus symbol is
00:43:40.820
symbolizing, the womanhood, if womanhood is not allowed to be womanhood, then there is no womanhood.
00:43:46.160
But it's nothing. It's not that womanhood gets better. It's that womanhood goes away and all
00:43:51.820
we're left with is manhood and masculinity, which we're told is toxic. So that's got to go away too.
00:43:57.740
And what do we have? Nothing. It's a race to the bottom. It is a race to emptiness. Another
00:44:03.400
inconvenient philosophical, logical conclusion to the bizarre contradictions within leftism. And who do
00:44:11.320
we have to thank for this? The transgender ideology. So got to give credit where credit is due here on

opposite day. That is our show. We have got a lot more to get to, but sorry, too late. Get your
