00:05:44.580 Just last Sunday, at the church of Saint-Sulpice, it was set on fire.

00:05:56.740 Last month, at the church of Saint-Nicolas in Oui, France, the statue of the Virgin Mary was smashed.

00:06:05.760 In February, the altar cloth was burned and crosses and statues of saints were smashed at Saint-Alain Cathedral.

00:06:13.000 In France, at the church of Notre Dame des Enfants, that was looted.

00:06:20.000 A cross at that church was smeared with human excrement.

00:06:23.000 Obviously, something is going on at these churches.

00:06:26.200 Something is motivating these attacks.

00:06:29.040 Something is causing people to set churches on fire and desecrate sacraments and statues and altars.

00:06:36.620 But no, no, no, we can't discuss that.

00:06:40.840 Also, why would someone raise the possibility that this was arson or terror?

00:06:46.900 The Cathedral of Notre Dame burned down on the first day of Holy Week.

00:07:22.440 A lot of relics, a lot of artwork was saved from within the cathedral.

00:07:33.480 The crown of thorns that was placed on Christ's head was in Notre Dame.

00:07:39.740 And Father Jean-Marc Fournier, who's the chaplain of the Paris Fire Brigade,

00:07:44.420 he ran into the burning cathedral to save that relic, to save the crown of thorns,

00:07:48.640 and to save the Blessed Sacrament.

00:07:50.900 So to save the Eucharist, the body of Christ.

00:07:54.280 He runs in to save it.

00:07:55.500 There is another relic, a nail from the true cross, the cross on which Christ was crucified.

00:08:03.280 Unfortunately, part of the crown of thorns, a piece of it, was stored in the spire.

00:08:08.220 That is believed to have been destroyed when that spire burned down.

00:08:12.380 And although the facade remains apparently structurally intact,

00:08:20.000 The frame of that roof, which dates back to the 12th century.
