00:00:00.000 Venezuela descends into further chaos as people starve and tanks crush protesters.
00:00:05.620 But socialists in the United States, like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
00:00:10.920 refuse to admit that Venezuela is their utopia, the logical conclusion of their awful ideas.
00:00:16.880 We will examine how socialism ruined that country and others.
00:00:20.600 Then, Democrat senators try and fail to grill Attorney General William Barr over the Mueller report.
00:00:26.840 We'll check in on that.
00:00:27.660 Finally, academics in Great Britain declare pedophilia normal and natural.
00:00:33.640 I'm Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:00:42.780 This is going to be a very abnormal and unnatural show, discussing all of those things.
00:00:48.360 We'll get to them in a second.
00:00:49.420 First, there's a lot of things in life that aren't right, that aren't normal, that aren't natural.
00:00:54.760 Well, carpet in showers, eating dip with your fingers, chunky-style milk, and paying too much for your phone bill.
00:01:02.820 That is not right. That is wrong.
00:01:05.140 But thanks to Mint Mobile, you don't have to overpay for wireless anymore.

00:01:13.920 Now, you might have heard these kind of things.

00:02:29.620 Other things that are abnormal and unnatural are happening in Venezuela right now.
00:02:36.620 This clip just came out yesterday, rightly horrified the world.
00:02:41.280 A tank, a government tank, pulled out onto the street and crushed starving protesters in Venezuela.
00:02:48.740 A military truck rammed into a group of protesters in Caracas.
00:02:54.700 Just one of several violent clashes between security forces and thousands of anti-government protesters.
00:03:02.480 This has been going on for weeks and weeks and months and months now.
00:03:06.520 Why is it going on?
00:03:08.200 Because of socialism.
00:03:09.560 This is socialism.
00:03:11.440 The tanks running over the protesters is socialism.
00:03:15.780 This is the logical conclusion of socialism.
00:03:19.900 It was ever thus.
00:03:22.000 This is the conclusion of what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are offering.
00:03:28.880 Not tomorrow.
00:03:30.500 Not the next week.
00:03:31.980 Not the week after that.
00:03:33.240 Luckily, America has a strong culture and economic and political heritage of freedom.
00:03:38.400 So it's not as though Bernie Sanders would get elected and then the next day you'd have tanks running over people in the street.
00:03:43.040 But given enough time and given enough success at implementing the agenda that they are proposing,
00:03:50.520 the tanks crushing the people in the streets is the logical conclusion.
00:03:56.440 What does socialism look like?
00:03:58.600 Looks like violent clashes in the streets in Venezuela.
00:04:02.040 Looks like the opposition leader down there, Juan Guaido, calling on the military to overturn the government there, the Maduro regime.
00:04:09.820 It looks like CNN now being taken off of the airwaves by the government,
00:04:15.760 which is proof positive that every storm cloud has a silver lining.
00:04:20.020 Not everything is bad down there, but most things are very bad.
00:04:23.240 Doctors have injured, or rather are treating 50 injured people right now just from those clashes yesterday.
00:04:30.460 That includes a woman who was shot in the abdomen.
00:04:34.460 There's gunfire, obviously the tanks.
00:04:36.480 Amnesty International is reporting systemic oppression throughout that country and for a long time now,
00:04:43.740 extrajudicial executions.
00:04:45.620 So the Maduro regime will go in in the middle of the night,
00:04:48.280 will drag people out who they think are a threat to their political stability or to their political power.
00:04:54.140 They will take them out and they will kill them without any law, without any trial, without any due process.
00:04:59.460 Just kill them.
00:05:00.180 One-third of Venezuelans are estimated, according to Amnesty International, to eat one meal per day.
00:05:08.920 Many Venezuelans go multiple days without eating.
00:05:12.560 In fact, there were interviews among the Miami Herald and other newspapers that talked to some of these Venezuelans,
00:05:21.120 and they will say they will just wait with hundreds and hundreds of people in bread lines at their churches
00:05:25.860 to hope to get one meal every couple days.
00:05:29.080 That bread lines, that's socialism for you.
00:05:31.080 Inflation, as a result of the government not cutting spending, of the government printing money,
00:05:36.480 of the government over-promising and under-delivering.
00:05:38.880 Inflation in Venezuela, do you know how high it's gone?
00:05:41.240 Right now, I think inflation, well, in the 1980s, I think inflation in Venezuela hit about 80%.
00:05:47.720 That's very high.
00:05:48.860 80% inflation is a big deal.
00:05:50.940 Those were the good old days compared to now.
00:05:54.720 Right now, inflation is about 1.3 million percent in Venezuela.
00:06:00.660 The currency is worth nothing.
00:06:02.760 In January, inflation rose up to about 2.7 million percent.
00:06:09.060 That's the conclusion of socialism.
00:06:12.140 How did this happen?
00:06:13.800 People forget now, because we have short historical memories,
00:06:17.080 we forget that Venezuela was a very rich country.
00:06:19.760 For most of the 20th century, Venezuela was the richest country in South America.
00:06:26.280 Now, it had periods of economic difficulties.
00:06:29.280 In the 1980s, there was a huge spike in inflation.
00:06:32.020 Not huge compared to today, but still it was significant.
00:06:34.880 Why did those happen?
00:06:35.820 Well, one, Venezuela is largely dependent on oil prices,
00:06:40.100 so fluctuations in oil prices do affect the country.
00:06:44.040 Also because when all that oil money started pouring in,
00:06:47.360 politicians and the government decided they could start buying off votes through socialism.
00:06:53.900 Now, at a certain point in the 1990s, you saw GDP declining.
00:06:58.660 You saw inflation increasing.
00:07:01.860 Then, when the governments would decide to cut back on socialism,
00:07:05.480 start liberalizing the economies, start allowing more free markets in,
00:07:09.620 all of a sudden, you saw GDP start to increase again.
00:07:12.500 You saw inflation start to curb again.
00:07:14.380 You saw wages even rise.
00:07:17.060 Then, Hugo Chavez took over.
00:07:18.980 The socialist politician, Hugo Chavez, campaigned and took power officially in 1999.
00:07:25.900 I'm actually old enough to remember when this happened,
00:07:28.700 and I remember all the left-wingers loved Hugo Chavez.
00:07:32.600 It was on the American media all the time.
00:07:34.140 I've been a newshound since I was like two years old,
00:07:37.000 and I remember Hugo Chavez was the big hope of all the leftists.
00:07:41.260 It was always on the mainstream media.
00:07:43.500 That guy, Sean Penn, the famous actor, loved Hugo Chavez.
00:07:47.380 Go down there.
00:07:48.340 All of these people, so happy.
00:07:50.280 Socialism has come to Venezuela.
00:07:53.240 Hugo Chavez died in 2013
00:07:54.780 as the economy collapsed,
00:07:58.640 as finally that poison ran its course.
00:08:01.700 Now you see the results.
00:08:02.880 This is the result of Hugo Chavez.
00:08:04.680 This is the result of socialism.
00:08:06.860 Why?
00:08:07.500 How did it happen?
00:08:08.580 So Chavez, when he came to power in 1999,
00:08:11.840 relied on these massive oil revenues that he was getting
00:08:14.820 to increase public spending and buy votes.
00:08:18.000 So he would take all of this money,
00:08:19.680 and then he would buy foreign food.
00:08:22.980 It's not as though he was cultivating new industries
00:08:26.040 or cultivating the economy.
00:08:28.140 He would just use it to buy foreign food
00:08:29.740 and then subsidize that food for the people.
00:08:32.320 So he's basically buying off the people with cheap food.
00:08:35.180 Then, as a result of this plan,
00:08:37.820 the foreign debt of Venezuela quadrupled
00:08:41.080 just under Chavez's reign.
00:08:43.500 So debt is mounting.
00:08:45.160 The economy is beginning to falter.
00:08:47.020 What does Chavez do?
00:08:47.900 Does he cut back public spending?
00:08:49.260 No, of course not.
00:08:50.160 Does he curb socialism?
00:08:51.540 No, of course not.
00:08:52.700 What he does is he seizes even more political power.
00:08:56.040 So at this point, the only way, like any Ponzi scheme,
00:08:59.100 the only way to keep this going is to take more and more stuff.
00:09:03.060 So Hugo Chavez decided to nationalize companies and farms and factories.
00:09:10.300 Now, nationalize is a really fancy leftist term that means steal.
00:09:14.140 So his regime stole whole companies, whole farms from people, whole factories.
00:09:20.260 As a result of this, by the way, ExxonMobil and CanocoPhillips left the country of Venezuela.
00:09:26.420 So now you've got international capital is pulling out
00:09:30.160 because they can't be in this unstable region
00:09:32.320 where this thug government is just going to steal your property.
00:09:35.600 So they start pulling out.
00:09:36.660 The economy continues to falter.
00:09:38.640 So what does Chavez do?
00:09:40.460 Does he pull back on socialism?
00:09:41.940 Of course not.
00:09:43.140 He seizes even more political power.
00:09:45.240 In 2012, not long before he died,
00:09:47.600 he outlawed private gun ownership all throughout Venezuela.
00:09:51.480 Let me tell you something.
00:09:52.600 If those people who are being crushed by tanks right now
00:09:55.040 had private gun ownership,
00:09:57.640 they would not be being crushed by tanks
00:09:59.580 because they would be shooting the military and the cops and the thugs
00:10:03.860 who are oppressing them and who are attacking them
00:10:07.020 and who are killing them extrajudicially.
00:10:09.280 Now, this brings us to 2013.
00:10:14.520 Chavez dies.
00:10:15.900 Maduro, his hand-picked successor, takes power.
00:10:19.420 At this point, I actually almost feel bad for Maduro
00:10:22.300 because the poison of socialism had run its course.
00:10:24.960 There was very little that he could do.
00:10:27.260 The bill for all that free stuff that Hugo Chavez was giving out
00:10:31.100 finally came due.
00:10:32.420 And at the same time, a drop in oil prices meant
00:10:35.040 that the government couldn't even keep up the pretense of solvency.
00:10:40.320 The jig was up.
00:10:42.360 So, the one thing Maduro could have done
00:10:44.880 is he could have gradually cut spending.
00:10:46.960 He could have shown that he was gradually willing to respect property rights.
00:10:50.880 He was eager for foreign investment.
00:10:52.940 He was going to deal responsibly with his government.
00:10:56.120 And then, maybe more money would have come in.
00:10:58.780 Is that what he did?
00:10:59.580 No, of course not.
00:11:00.680 Because he's a socialist.
00:11:02.020 So, instead what he did is he just started printing money.
00:11:05.620 Like, I love when politicians think they can just print more money.
00:11:09.740 They, this has never worked in all of history.
00:11:12.800 It's not even really a short-term solution
00:11:14.840 because the minute you start doing it,
00:11:18.400 everybody begins to distrust your government,
00:11:21.240 distrust your economy,
00:11:22.060 and very, very quickly, you get hyperinflation,
00:11:25.060 which is exactly what happened.
00:11:26.540 The hyperinflation triggered this revolution
00:11:28.440 because the money was worthless,
00:11:29.860 and that revolution triggered the violent crackdown
00:11:32.540 that you see from the government,
00:11:34.820 that you see from tanks rolling over citizens in Venezuela.
00:11:39.580 This is not the first time this has happened
00:11:41.280 in a socialist government.
00:11:42.800 This always happens in socialist governments.
00:11:45.200 This always happened in the Soviet Union.
00:11:47.860 It happened, obviously, in North Korea.
00:11:49.180 It happened in other Latin American socialist governments.
00:11:52.380 Happened in China.
00:11:53.400 Happened in all of these places.
00:11:55.140 This is socialism.
00:11:56.840 And here's the scary number.
00:11:58.440 According to Gallup polling,
00:11:59.740 the majority of young Americans support socialism.
00:12:04.600 They look favorably on socialism.
00:12:07.200 And according to that same poll,
00:12:09.820 only 45% of young Americans look favorably on capitalism,
00:12:14.020 which is to say, private property,
00:12:16.640 which is to say, the free exchange of goods and services.
00:12:20.980 Young America is far more socialist than capitalist.
00:12:25.960 The good news is, a lot of polls show
00:12:27.640 that young Americans can't define socialism.
00:12:30.420 That's a good thing.
00:12:31.880 But why do they identify as socialist?
00:12:34.000 Why do they look upon it favorably?
00:12:35.360 It's because politicians like Bernie Sanders
00:12:37.660 and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
00:12:39.680 are openly peddling this poisonous ideology.
00:12:43.720 And what they say is,
00:12:45.240 our idea of socialism,
00:12:47.480 it's like Iceland.
00:12:49.320 It's like Denmark.
00:12:51.560 It's like Sweden.
00:12:52.940 It's not like Venezuela.
00:12:54.560 No, no, no.
00:12:55.060 Don't look at Venezuela.
00:12:56.840 Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
00:12:58.840 No, no.
00:12:59.400 Look over here at the Nordic countries.
00:13:01.860 That is simply a lie.
00:13:04.060 We will explain why it's a lie in a second.

00:14:21.760 Bernie,
00:14:22.660 AOC,
00:14:23.440 they want to tell you
00:14:24.340 that the socialism
00:14:26.740 that they're pushing
00:14:27.500 is like the Nordic countries.
00:14:29.440 It's not like Venezuela.
00:14:31.500 Not a lie.
00:14:32.400 The Nordic countries
00:14:33.400 have relatively free economies.
00:14:37.220 They have no minimum wage.
00:14:38.960 None of those countries
00:14:39.700 has a minimum wage.
00:14:41.020 Sweden has a universal school choice.
00:14:44.060 They have a far more free market
00:14:46.620 approach to education
00:14:47.460 than even the United States has.
00:14:49.620 Iceland has a freer economy
00:14:52.120 than the United States.
00:14:52.980 According to the Heritage Foundation
00:14:54.440 Index for Economic Freedom.
00:14:58.640 If AOC wants to be more like Iceland,
00:15:00.980 then she ought to support
00:15:02.040 freeing up the economy,
00:15:04.020 not increased socialism.

00:15:07.180 former Danish prime minister,

00:15:09.180 puts the point very clearly.
00:15:10.880 He says,
00:15:11.240 quote,
00:15:11.820 Denmark is far
00:15:13.260 from a socialist planned economy.
00:15:15.560 Denmark is a market economy.
00:15:16.980 But what AOC and Bernie Sanders
00:15:20.240 are pushing
00:15:20.700 is a socialist planned economy.
00:15:24.500 And you know,
00:15:24.920 it's so disingenuous
00:15:26.360 if you hear Bernie Sanders
00:15:27.700 or AOC talk about this.
00:15:29.340 Bernie Sanders
00:15:29.920 didn't have his honeymoon
00:15:30.940 in Denmark.
00:15:33.220 He didn't go on his honeymoon
00:15:34.540 to Iceland.
00:15:36.240 He went on his honeymoon
00:15:37.540 in 1988,
00:15:39.080 the day after he got married,
00:15:41.080 to the Soviet Union.
00:15:43.100 In fact,
00:15:43.860 I'm sorry to say,
00:15:44.900 we have video of this
00:15:45.920 of Bernie Sanders shirtless,
00:15:48.160 drinking vodka,
00:15:49.340 singing commie songs
00:15:50.580 with the Ruskies
00:15:51.980 in the Soviet Union
00:15:53.160 in 1988.
00:15:53.800 We have ridden of highways
00:15:56.800 I saw the bees
00:16:00.300 That in this dry ways
00:16:03.800 I saw the lonely
00:16:06.300 That on this highway
00:16:09.660 This land was made
00:16:12.780 for you and me
00:16:14.240 I'm going to rewrite it.
00:16:16.720 I'm going to do a version of it
00:16:17.760 which is
00:16:18.040 This land is my land
00:16:19.280 This land is my land
00:16:20.580 This land's not your land
00:16:21.920 This land is my land
00:16:22.960 That's going to be the song
00:16:24.720 that I sing
00:16:25.240 at the southern border.
00:16:26.120 But that'll be for a later show.
00:16:27.220 Don't worry about that now.
00:16:28.440 Bernie Sanders
00:16:29.080 was so enthralled
00:16:31.380 with the Soviet Union,
00:16:32.560 with Soviet communism,
00:16:33.800 the most repressive regime
00:16:35.120 on earth,
00:16:36.240 one of the most repressive regimes
00:16:38.320 in the history of the world,
00:16:40.080 that he took his honeymoon there.
00:16:41.660 Didn't want to go to Scandinavia.
00:16:44.800 Wanted to go there.
00:16:46.420 Worse even than Venezuela.
00:16:48.560 And,
00:16:49.000 just to remind you
00:16:49.980 that he's not
00:16:50.660 pushing policies
00:16:52.000 that would bring us to Iceland.
00:16:53.440 He's pushing the policies
00:16:54.460 of Latin America.
00:16:55.800 Around that same time,
00:16:56.940 three years earlier,
00:16:57.760 1985,
00:16:58.760 Bernie Sanders
00:16:59.400 was defending
00:17:00.460 socialist bread lines
00:17:02.420 in Latin America.
00:17:03.980 You know,
00:17:04.840 it's funny,
00:17:05.340 sometimes American journalists
00:17:06.480 talk about how bad
00:17:07.260 a country is
00:17:07.800 because people are
00:17:08.400 lining up for food.
00:17:09.460 That's a good thing.
00:17:11.880 In other countries,
00:17:12.700 people don't line up for food.
00:17:13.920 The rich get the food
00:17:14.760 and the poor starve to death.
00:17:17.320 Bread lines are a good thing.
00:17:19.840 Bread lines are a good thing.
00:17:22.600 In a lot of countries,
00:17:24.180 the rich get food
00:17:25.540 and the poor starve to death.
00:17:28.520 Right.
00:17:29.040 In socialist countries,
00:17:30.000 that's what happens.
00:17:31.040 That's what's happening
00:17:31.680 in Venezuela right now.
00:17:32.880 And if they don't starve to death,
00:17:33.860 they get run over by tanks.
00:17:35.400 That doesn't happen
00:17:36.340 in the United States.
00:17:37.840 Nobody starves to death
00:17:38.880 in the United States.
00:17:39.720 The biggest problem
00:17:40.740 afflicting the poor
00:17:42.160 in the United States
00:17:43.100 is obesity.
00:17:44.520 The problem among the poor
00:17:45.880 in the United States
00:17:46.600 is that they're eating too much.
00:17:49.160 That's not what happens
00:17:50.200 in socialist countries.
00:17:51.380 They starve to death
00:17:52.240 while the rich
00:17:53.060 and the well-connected
00:17:54.020 and the cronies
00:17:54.700 all benefit.
00:17:57.440 Make no mistake,
00:17:58.460 the policies
00:17:59.180 that they are pushing
00:18:00.280 are,
00:18:02.000 they're not just
00:18:02.860 leading us to the road,
00:18:04.620 on the road to Venezuela.
00:18:05.600 They are even radical
00:18:07.720 by that standard.
00:18:09.040 Just the Green New Deal.
00:18:11.140 Just the Green New Deal.
00:18:12.160 One policy
00:18:12.840 that they're pushing,
00:18:14.020 co-sponsors,
00:18:14.940 AOC wrote it herself,
00:18:17.260 is
00:18:17.740 a full government takeover
00:18:21.080 of huge swaths
00:18:23.260 of the economy.
00:18:25.240 All of the healthcare system,
00:18:26.980 radical
00:18:27.500 socialist healthcare regime.
00:18:29.460 Then an outlawing
00:18:31.840 of about 90%
00:18:33.180 of the American
00:18:33.840 energy industry.
00:18:35.720 Then a federal
00:18:36.780 job guarantee program.
00:18:38.440 You get rid of parts
00:18:39.180 of the welfare state
00:18:40.080 and now you just have
00:18:41.120 to work for the government.
00:18:43.460 Then an outlawing
00:18:45.020 of planes,
00:18:45.540 trains,
00:18:45.780 and automobiles
00:18:46.520 so you don't get
00:18:47.840 to keep your car.
00:18:49.020 Then an outlawing
00:18:50.700 of your home.
00:18:53.280 An outlawing
00:18:54.400 of all of the current
00:18:56.200 buildings
00:18:56.980 in the United States.
00:18:58.180 Because
00:18:59.860 according to the
00:19:00.900 Green New Deal,
00:19:01.680 which Bernie
00:19:02.220 co-sponsors,
00:19:03.620 which AOC wrote,
00:19:05.980 we need to knock down
00:19:07.080 every building
00:19:07.580 in the country
00:19:08.160 and rebuild it
00:19:09.400 within 10 years
00:19:10.160 as we eliminate
00:19:11.940 90% of the
00:19:12.720 American energy industry.
00:19:14.960 You can't even
00:19:16.280 keep your own home.
00:19:18.040 That's the kind
00:19:18.680 of takeover
00:19:19.220 that we're talking about.
00:19:20.940 That's what
00:19:21.620 they're pushing.
00:19:22.560 That's not Denmark.
00:19:24.020 That's not Iceland.
00:19:25.680 That's not Sweden.
00:19:26.820 That is Venezuela
00:19:29.320 that's worse
00:19:29.960 than Venezuela.
00:19:31.740 America's a richer country.
00:19:33.500 America's a bigger country.
00:19:34.620 America has better institutions.
00:19:36.260 America has a longer
00:19:37.240 tradition
00:19:38.700 of
00:19:39.380 liberty.
00:19:42.680 Okay.
00:19:43.920 Venezuela was a rich country.
00:19:46.040 Venezuela was a prosperous country.
00:19:47.620 It was the most prosperous country
00:19:48.600 in the region.
00:19:50.280 And eventually,
00:19:51.820 steadily,
00:19:53.200 gradually,
00:19:53.660 socialism
00:19:54.700 ruined it.
00:19:57.700 Now,
00:19:58.360 there are tanks
00:19:59.440 crushing
00:20:00.600 citizens
00:20:01.600 in
00:20:02.580 the street.
00:20:06.580 Why does the left
00:20:07.560 get away with this?
00:20:08.880 How do we let the left
00:20:09.940 get away with this?
00:20:12.680 Part of why
00:20:13.800 we've got to call out
00:20:15.240 Bernie Sanders
00:20:15.880 and AOC here
00:20:16.840 is that the American left
00:20:18.520 never apologized
00:20:19.760 for its support
00:20:20.520 of the Soviet Union.
00:20:21.380 You had reporters
00:20:23.780 in the New York Times
00:20:24.720 and other newspapers
00:20:25.800 in the early days
00:20:28.000 of the Soviet Union
00:20:28.900 saying,
00:20:29.400 I've seen the future
00:20:30.460 and it works.
00:20:32.780 You had reporters
00:20:34.100 in those early days
00:20:35.160 denying
00:20:35.740 the Holodomor,
00:20:37.780 denying famines
00:20:38.940 caused by Stalin,
00:20:40.300 denying
00:20:40.640 all of the atrocities
00:20:42.000 being committed
00:20:42.500 by Stalin,
00:20:43.180 lying about it
00:20:43.860 because they were
00:20:44.580 so committed
00:20:45.220 to the communist cause.
00:20:46.940 In fact,
00:20:47.280 the conservative movement
00:20:48.140 as we know it
00:20:49.080 was founded
00:20:49.960 because of those
00:20:50.900 early reports
00:20:51.620 about the Soviet Union.
00:20:54.280 When you had
00:20:54.980 American newspapers
00:20:55.900 publishing about
00:20:56.880 the Soviet Union,
00:20:57.920 I've seen the future
00:20:58.800 and it works,
00:20:59.800 you then had
00:21:00.300 William F. Buckley Jr.
00:21:01.940 start the flagship
00:21:03.440 conservative newspaper
00:21:04.520 National Review,
00:21:05.540 or magazine rather,
00:21:07.060 with,
00:21:07.760 in the first issue,
00:21:09.100 with the thesis,
00:21:10.860 a conservative
00:21:11.440 is one
00:21:11.920 who stands
00:21:12.760 athwart history
00:21:13.580 yelling stop.
00:21:15.360 The communists
00:21:16.140 see the future
00:21:17.180 and it works
00:21:17.860 and the conservatives
00:21:18.780 are there saying,
00:21:19.500 stop.
00:21:20.520 It doesn't work.
00:21:21.520 It's not going to work.
00:21:22.520 It's evil
00:21:23.220 even if it did work.
00:21:25.120 But what does it mean
00:21:25.880 to even work?
00:21:28.920 Let's say that
00:21:29.740 socialism actually
00:21:30.740 did work,
00:21:31.260 which it doesn't.
00:21:32.020 Let's say socialism
00:21:32.840 created a lot
00:21:33.440 of economic prosperity
00:21:34.440 and everybody
00:21:35.360 had a lot of
00:21:35.960 material goods.
00:21:37.360 But it robbed you
00:21:38.700 of all of your liberty.
00:21:41.160 It robbed you
00:21:42.000 of all of your
00:21:43.280 institutions,
00:21:44.040 your civic institutions.
00:21:46.180 It exerted
00:21:46.980 so much power
00:21:47.920 of the federal government
00:21:48.860 over you
00:21:49.440 that your way of life,
00:21:51.240 your culture,
00:21:51.820 your traditions
00:21:52.340 were totally crushed.
00:21:53.880 Who cares how
00:21:54.760 materially prosperous
00:21:55.840 you are?
00:21:57.660 Even if socialism
00:21:58.660 worked,
00:21:59.120 it would be evil.
00:22:00.960 But it also
00:22:01.980 doesn't work.
00:22:03.480 It also leads
00:22:04.400 to widespread misery.
00:22:05.880 The American left
00:22:06.560 can't admit that.
00:22:07.280 They never apologized
00:22:07.960 for the Soviet Union.
00:22:09.220 They never apologized
00:22:10.000 for their support
00:22:10.640 of Fidel Castro.
00:22:12.020 Oh, the left
00:22:12.600 loved Fidel Castro.
00:22:13.740 They brought him
00:22:14.540 to the United Nations
00:22:15.420 in New York.
00:22:17.000 Oh, they love,
00:22:17.620 they sometimes wear
00:22:18.460 his face on t-shirts.
00:22:20.460 They wear Che Guevara's
00:22:21.940 face on t-shirts
00:22:23.300 even today.
00:22:23.980 Never apologized
00:22:24.580 for that.
00:22:26.220 These people
00:22:27.000 enslaved an entire
00:22:27.960 country in Cuba.
00:22:29.680 And American liberals
00:22:30.880 wear their faces
00:22:31.600 on shirts
00:22:32.180 like they're
00:22:32.780 Disney characters.
00:22:34.720 They never apologized
00:22:35.860 for their support
00:22:36.520 of Hugo Chavez.
00:22:38.100 Go talk to Sean Penn.
00:22:39.620 Go talk to all
00:22:40.140 the Hollywood leftists
00:22:41.280 who loved
00:22:42.100 Hugo Chavez.
00:22:43.360 Go talk to all
00:22:43.940 the activists
00:22:44.460 who loved
00:22:45.040 Hugo Chavez.
00:22:46.700 No apology.
00:22:48.460 They can't
00:22:49.420 ever admit
00:22:50.280 the logical
00:22:53.140 conclusion
00:22:53.620 of their ideas.
00:22:54.760 It's happened
00:22:55.280 time and time
00:22:55.960 again.
00:22:56.920 Soviet Union,
00:22:57.820 China,
00:23:00.600 Cuba,
00:23:02.040 all around
00:23:02.660 Latin America,
00:23:03.720 now Venezuela.
00:23:05.440 They can't,
00:23:05.920 no, no,
00:23:06.340 that was wrong
00:23:07.140 socialism.
00:23:07.980 That was fake
00:23:08.660 socialism.
00:23:09.680 Next time it will
00:23:10.600 work.
00:23:11.380 Just give it
00:23:11.880 one more try.
00:23:12.960 No more tries.
00:23:13.940 Certainly not
00:23:14.400 in the United States.
00:23:16.420 Speaking of
00:23:17.760 incoherent leftism
00:23:19.540 and a good way
00:23:20.520 to smack it down,
00:23:21.700 we can switch
00:23:22.180 gears over to
00:23:23.260 Attorney General
00:23:24.620 William Barr
00:23:25.620 testifying on
00:23:26.480 the Hill today
00:23:27.120 before the Senate
00:23:28.000 Judiciary Committee.
00:23:29.620 He's being called
00:23:30.620 to testify
00:23:31.220 over the Mueller
00:23:32.040 report.
00:23:33.500 Now the Democrats
00:23:34.420 are calling on
00:23:35.180 Attorney General Barr
00:23:36.020 to resign.
00:23:38.260 What's the big
00:23:39.020 takeaway here?
00:23:40.420 The big takeaway
00:23:41.440 is since the
00:23:42.800 Mueller report
00:23:43.360 was released,
00:23:45.320 Democrats have
00:23:46.500 nothing.
00:23:47.400 They've got
00:23:48.040 nothing.
00:23:48.440 They bet the
00:23:49.180 farm on this
00:23:50.100 Russia collusion
00:23:50.900 thing.
00:23:52.200 Two years,
00:23:53.260 more than two
00:23:53.740 years,
00:23:54.040 they bet everything
00:23:54.960 on it.
00:23:56.220 And it didn't
00:23:57.120 happen.
00:23:57.540 It didn't pan out.
00:23:58.520 You had Eric
00:23:59.020 Swalwell,
00:23:59.840 presidential candidate,
00:24:00.780 saying Trump
00:24:01.240 is a traitor.
00:24:02.340 We know that he
00:24:03.100 colluded with the
00:24:03.840 Russians.
00:24:04.240 Didn't happen.
00:24:05.300 And so now
00:24:05.840 what are they
00:24:06.180 doing?
00:24:07.400 They're,
00:24:07.680 they're,
00:24:07.960 they're grasping
00:24:08.820 at straws.
00:24:09.580 Now they want
00:24:09.960 to impeach
00:24:10.480 William Barr
00:24:11.600 for some reason,
00:24:13.220 the new Attorney
00:24:13.760 General,
00:24:14.420 so that I guess
00:24:14.960 we'll get a new
00:24:15.400 Attorney General
00:24:15.980 and then they'll
00:24:16.440 want to impeach
00:24:16.900 him too.
00:24:17.940 The other big
00:24:18.720 takeaway from
00:24:19.360 this hearing
00:24:19.860 today is that
00:24:20.840 it's all
00:24:21.120 theater.
00:24:21.980 It is all
00:24:22.880 theater.
00:24:23.520 This is why
00:24:23.900 I didn't lead
00:24:24.380 with this story.
00:24:25.640 If you tune
00:24:26.340 into CNN
00:24:26.860 right now,
00:24:27.420 this is the
00:24:27.880 biggest story
00:24:28.660 on the top
00:24:29.280 of the page
00:24:30.000 and you've
00:24:30.380 got to pay
00:24:30.700 attention.
00:24:31.320 It doesn't
00:24:31.780 really matter.
00:24:33.120 In terms of
00:24:34.160 the Department
00:24:35.020 of Justice,
00:24:36.040 in terms of
00:24:36.560 the Russia
00:24:37.100 investigation,
00:24:37.960 in terms of
00:24:38.400 the Trump
00:24:38.680 administration,
00:24:39.760 doesn't really
00:24:40.480 matter.
00:24:41.140 What it
00:24:41.460 matters for
00:24:42.880 is to show
00:24:44.080 you the
00:24:44.400 desperation
00:24:44.880 of Democrats
00:24:45.880 in the Senate.
00:24:47.800 It's a story
00:24:48.620 that people
00:24:48.960 are talking
00:24:49.440 about,
00:24:49.840 but it's a
00:24:50.280 story that
00:24:51.260 matters only
00:24:51.960 in so much
00:24:52.560 as it's
00:24:53.840 a bunch
00:24:54.780 of hot air.
00:24:56.640 It's important
00:24:57.400 as political
00:24:57.900 theater.
00:24:58.980 We have the
00:24:59.700 Mueller report.
00:25:00.900 You can read
00:25:01.400 the report.
00:25:01.800 I've read
00:25:02.700 the relevant
00:25:03.280 sections of
00:25:03.920 it,
00:25:04.080 probably
00:25:04.260 150,
00:25:04.840 200 pages
00:25:05.340 of it.
00:25:06.460 That's enough.
00:25:07.260 That's all
00:25:07.520 you need
00:25:07.780 to read.
00:25:08.300 You can
00:25:08.600 see no
00:25:09.420 collusion,
00:25:10.680 no obstruction.
00:25:13.020 The report
00:25:14.060 left open
00:25:14.600 the question
00:25:15.020 of obstruction.
00:25:17.400 Most legal
00:25:18.620 scholars,
00:25:19.220 and certainly
00:25:19.600 the legal
00:25:20.060 scholars that
00:25:20.500 we talk
00:25:20.880 to,
00:25:21.440 Alan Dershowitz,
00:25:22.660 those kind
00:25:23.040 of people,
00:25:23.760 say even
00:25:24.740 leaving open
00:25:25.300 the question
00:25:25.740 of obstruction
00:25:26.280 was pretty
00:25:27.280 absurd.
00:25:28.100 Even the
00:25:28.460 framework of
00:25:29.060 obstruction
00:25:29.500 that Bob
00:25:30.820 Mueller was
00:25:31.160 working with
00:25:31.620 is pretty
00:25:31.960 absurd.
00:25:33.060 But regardless,
00:25:33.920 it's up to
00:25:34.260 the Department
00:25:34.620 of Justice
00:25:35.060 to determine
00:25:35.900 whether or
00:25:36.300 not obstruction
00:25:36.820 occurred.
00:25:38.020 The Attorney
00:25:38.660 General says
00:25:39.180 it didn't
00:25:39.480 occur.
00:25:40.260 The Deputy
00:25:40.620 Attorney
00:25:40.900 General,
00:25:41.320 Rod Rosenstein,
00:25:42.440 who is
00:25:42.720 certainly no
00:25:43.560 conservative
00:25:44.020 Republican,
00:25:45.200 he said
00:25:45.920 no obstruction
00:25:46.560 occurred.
00:25:48.940 No indictments,
00:25:50.500 no nothing.
00:25:51.860 So now we're
00:25:52.960 arguing over
00:25:53.720 the summaries
00:25:54.480 and the press
00:25:55.640 reports and
00:25:56.400 the phone calls
00:25:57.300 and the leaks
00:25:57.920 and the this.
00:25:58.720 Why are we
00:25:59.180 arguing over
00:25:59.780 any of that?
00:26:00.340 We have
00:26:01.020 the report
00:26:01.480 itself.
00:26:02.200 You can
00:26:02.520 read the
00:26:02.960 report.
00:26:03.680 The report
00:26:04.200 exonerates
00:26:04.880 President Trump.
00:26:05.940 But they
00:26:06.540 just can't
00:26:07.260 let it go
00:26:07.800 because they
00:26:08.860 bet their
00:26:09.300 whole two
00:26:09.620 years on it.
00:26:10.800 So now
00:26:11.140 they're trying
00:26:11.460 to rehash
00:26:11.980 anything around
00:26:12.800 the edges
00:26:13.240 of the report.
00:26:14.680 So the
00:26:15.060 left needs
00:26:15.420 a new
00:26:15.640 boogeyman.
00:26:16.840 Filling
00:26:17.200 that role,
00:26:17.820 we now have
00:26:18.620 Attorney
00:26:19.220 General
00:26:19.540 William Barr.
00:26:20.600 They want
00:26:21.040 him to be
00:26:21.340 impeached
00:26:21.840 and they say
00:26:22.900 he lied to
00:26:23.520 Congress.
00:26:24.000 That's the
00:26:24.320 basis for
00:26:24.820 them calling
00:26:25.180 for his
00:26:25.560 impeachment.
00:26:27.880 Okay,
00:26:28.440 let's take
00:26:28.840 them at
00:26:29.080 their word.
00:26:29.460 They're saying
00:26:29.840 he lied to
00:26:30.540 Congress.
00:26:31.460 What did
00:26:32.060 he lie
00:26:32.460 about?
00:26:33.260 They're saying
00:26:33.860 that the last
00:26:34.360 time he appeared
00:26:34.840 before Congress,
00:26:36.060 he lied when
00:26:37.020 he was asked
00:26:37.740 the question
00:26:38.380 of whether
00:26:39.200 or not
00:26:39.940 Bob Mueller
00:26:41.080 agrees with
00:26:42.460 his conclusions
00:26:43.320 about the
00:26:44.220 Mueller report.
00:26:45.360 And here was
00:26:46.120 William Barr's
00:26:46.980 answer.
00:26:47.260 did Bob
00:26:49.120 Mueller
00:26:49.360 support your
00:26:50.080 conclusion?
00:26:51.040 I don't
00:26:51.320 know whether
00:26:51.660 Bob Mueller
00:26:52.300 supported my
00:26:53.100 conclusions.
00:26:54.800 Okay,
00:26:55.420 he's asked
00:26:56.020 the question
00:26:56.400 does Bob
00:26:56.820 Mueller
00:26:56.960 support your
00:26:57.500 conclusions?
00:26:58.820 What
00:26:59.040 William Barr
00:26:59.480 I think
00:26:59.720 wanted to
00:27:00.120 say is
00:27:00.420 I don't
00:27:00.720 care if
00:27:01.180 Bob
00:27:01.400 Mueller
00:27:01.580 supports
00:27:02.080 my
00:27:02.320 conclusions.
00:27:03.100 Bob
00:27:03.260 Mueller
00:27:03.460 is not
00:27:03.720 the
00:27:03.860 Attorney
00:27:04.100 General
00:27:04.480 and I
00:27:04.940 am.
00:27:05.360 What he
00:27:05.620 says is
00:27:05.900 I don't
00:27:06.160 know if
00:27:06.440 he supports
00:27:06.860 the
00:27:07.020 conclusions.
00:27:08.100 Now
00:27:08.460 the Democrats
00:27:09.520 are saying
00:27:10.060 that was
00:27:10.460 a lie.
00:27:11.540 What is
00:27:11.760 their evidence
00:27:12.180 that that
00:27:12.500 was a lie?
00:27:13.540 A letter
00:27:14.020 from Bob
00:27:14.620 Mueller
00:27:14.880 to
00:27:15.600 William
00:27:16.320 Barr
00:27:16.740 leaked.
00:27:17.800 Coincidentally,
00:27:18.420 by the way,
00:27:18.780 it leaked
00:27:19.220 the night
00:27:19.900 before
00:27:20.360 William
00:27:21.500 Barr
00:27:21.700 testifies
00:27:22.260 before the
00:27:22.740 Senate.
00:27:23.200 What a
00:27:23.540 coincidence.
00:27:24.180 That's so
00:27:24.460 strange.
00:27:25.500 I wonder
00:27:25.760 who could
00:27:26.080 have leaked
00:27:26.400 that letter
00:27:26.960 that was
00:27:27.840 written by
00:27:28.280 the
00:27:28.460 Mueller
00:27:28.640 team.
00:27:31.340 Two people
00:27:32.100 have that
00:27:32.460 letter,
00:27:33.340 Mueller
00:27:33.500 and Barr.
00:27:34.560 I don't
00:27:35.140 think Barr
00:27:35.520 leaked it.
00:27:36.860 So somebody
00:27:37.380 associated with
00:27:38.160 Bob Mueller
00:27:38.640 leaked that
00:27:39.220 letter.
00:27:39.960 Okay,
00:27:40.940 they're saying
00:27:41.500 this is
00:27:41.880 evidence.
00:27:43.020 That
00:27:43.320 William
00:27:43.660 Barr
00:27:43.860 lied
00:27:44.180 to
00:27:44.340 Congress.
00:27:44.820 But what
00:27:45.180 does the
00:27:45.540 letter
00:27:45.720 actually
00:27:46.240 say?
00:27:47.700 Does the
00:27:48.280 letter
00:27:48.460 show that
00:27:49.180 Mueller
00:27:49.600 thinks that
00:27:50.380 Barr's
00:27:51.200 conclusions
00:27:51.600 were wrong
00:27:52.180 or he
00:27:52.420 disagrees
00:27:52.940 or he
00:27:53.280 agrees
00:27:53.660 or that
00:27:54.120 Barr
00:27:54.300 lied
00:27:54.520 to
00:27:54.660 Congress?
00:27:55.580 We'll
00:27:55.960 read the
00:27:56.300 actual
00:27:56.620 letter
00:27:56.900 in a
00:27:57.240 second.
00:27:58.040 But first,
00:27:58.520 we've got to
00:27:58.760 think about
00:27:59.020 Facebook and
00:27:59.540 YouTube.
00:28:00.160 Go over
00:28:00.400 to
00:28:00.520 dailywire.com.
00:28:02.340 Ten bucks
00:28:02.740 a month,
00:28:03.040 one hundred
00:28:03.280 dollars for
00:28:03.740 an annual
00:28:04.040 membership.
00:28:04.600 You get
00:28:04.800 me,
00:28:05.480 you get
00:28:05.740 the Andrew
00:28:06.020 Klavan
00:28:06.280 show,
00:28:06.920 you get
00:28:07.120 the Ben
00:28:07.340 Shapiro
00:28:07.600 show,
00:28:13.020 you get
00:28:13.800 to watch
00:28:14.640 backstage,
00:28:15.580 ask questions
00:28:16.060 backstage,
00:28:16.660 you get
00:28:17.180 the Another
00:28:17.880 Kingdom podcast
00:28:18.500 and you get
00:28:19.400 this,
00:28:21.340 the Leftist
00:28:21.880 Tears
00:28:22.180 Tumblr.
00:28:23.300 We're about
00:28:23.940 to get into
00:28:24.400 some of that
00:28:24.800 Democrat
00:28:25.260 questioning
00:28:25.860 of William
00:28:26.460 Barr.
00:28:27.460 We're about
00:28:28.020 to watch
00:28:28.600 how William
00:28:29.140 Barr has
00:28:29.760 a higher
00:28:30.120 IQ than
00:28:30.680 every Democrat
00:28:31.540 member of
00:28:32.020 this committee
00:28:32.440 combined.
00:28:33.520 And you
00:28:33.960 are going
00:28:34.180 to need
00:28:34.400 the Tumblr
00:28:34.840 or else
00:28:35.420 you are
00:28:35.880 going to
00:28:36.180 drown.
00:28:36.940 Go to
00:28:37.240 dailywire.com.
00:28:38.000 We'll be
00:28:38.140 right back.
00:28:43.020 What does
00:28:49.880 the letter
00:28:50.280 actually say?
00:28:51.940 Democrats
00:28:52.380 think that
00:28:53.020 this letter
00:28:53.500 from
00:28:53.740 Mueller
00:28:53.920 to Barr
00:28:54.380 is evidence
00:28:54.920 that Barr
00:28:55.320 lied to
00:28:55.740 Congress
00:28:56.200 and that
00:28:56.820 Mueller
00:28:57.040 does not
00:28:57.660 agree
00:28:58.060 with
00:28:58.400 Barr's
00:28:58.920 conclusions
00:28:59.800 and that
00:29:00.420 Barr
00:29:00.620 knew that
00:29:01.120 Mueller
00:29:01.280 does not
00:29:01.680 agree
00:29:01.900 with
00:29:02.060 Barr's
00:29:02.300 conclusions.
00:29:03.440 Try to
00:29:04.080 follow that.
00:29:05.260 Here's what
00:29:05.680 the letter
00:29:05.940 actually says.
00:29:08.940 From
00:29:09.460 Special Counsel
00:29:10.900 Bob Mueller.
00:29:11.660 The summary
00:29:12.260 letter the
00:29:12.900 department sent
00:29:13.480 to Congress
00:29:13.940 and released
00:29:14.480 to the
00:29:14.840 public late
00:29:15.380 in the
00:29:15.600 afternoon
00:29:15.980 of March
00:29:16.420 24th
00:29:17.100 did not
00:29:17.540 fully
00:29:17.920 capture
00:29:18.500 concern
00:29:19.420 the
00:29:21.460 context
00:29:23.460 nature
00:29:24.940 and substance
00:29:25.780 of this
00:29:26.500 office's
00:29:27.100 work
00:29:27.440 and
00:29:27.680 conclusions.
00:29:28.740 There is
00:29:29.340 now public
00:29:30.100 confusion
00:29:30.780 about
00:29:31.680 critical
00:29:32.160 aspects
00:29:32.880 of the
00:29:33.620 result
00:29:34.040 of our
00:29:34.600 investigation.
00:29:35.880 This
00:29:36.060 threatens
00:29:36.400 to undermine
00:29:36.900 a central
00:29:37.340 purpose
00:29:37.700 for which
00:29:38.100 the
00:29:38.260 department
00:29:38.560 appointed
00:29:38.940 the
00:29:39.140 special
00:29:39.360 counsel
00:29:39.740 to
00:29:40.220 assure
00:29:40.560 full
00:29:40.900 public
00:29:41.240 confidence
00:29:41.760 in the
00:29:42.420 outcome
00:29:42.880 of the
00:29:43.280 investigations.
00:29:46.340 Again,
00:29:47.160 to begin,
00:29:48.240 who cares
00:29:49.340 what Bob
00:29:49.740 Mueller thinks
00:29:50.360 about the
00:29:51.680 release or
00:29:52.500 the context
00:29:53.280 or whatever?
00:29:54.820 What matters
00:29:55.480 is,
00:29:55.940 is the
00:29:56.520 attorney general
00:29:57.640 accurately
00:29:59.240 relating
00:30:00.100 the report?
00:30:02.460 But who
00:30:03.300 cares what
00:30:03.960 Mueller thinks
00:30:04.460 about the
00:30:04.820 context or
00:30:05.880 how many
00:30:06.200 press conferences
00:30:07.140 Barr
00:30:07.800 should do?
00:30:09.360 Bill Barr
00:30:10.240 does not
00:30:10.640 answer to
00:30:11.140 Bob
00:30:11.360 Mueller.
00:30:12.620 The
00:30:12.980 special
00:30:13.260 counsel
00:30:13.640 is not
00:30:14.240 the
00:30:14.920 attorney
00:30:15.140 general.
00:30:16.060 The
00:30:16.500 attorney
00:30:16.680 general
00:30:16.980 does not
00:30:17.320 report to
00:30:17.700 the
00:30:17.800 special
00:30:18.040 counsel.
00:30:18.460 The
00:30:18.560 special
00:30:18.840 counsel
00:30:19.160 reports
00:30:19.780 to the
00:30:21.160 DOJ,
00:30:21.840 to the
00:30:22.060 attorney
00:30:22.280 general,
00:30:22.760 ultimately.
00:30:24.380 The only
00:30:25.220 question that
00:30:25.860 matters here
00:30:26.340 is the
00:30:26.740 accuracy
00:30:27.380 of the
00:30:28.680 context or
00:30:29.300 the summaries
00:30:29.840 or whatever.
00:30:31.120 Now,
00:30:31.300 the question
00:30:31.700 is ambiguous,
00:30:32.700 right?
00:30:32.900 The letter
00:30:33.260 says that
00:30:34.780 Bill Barr's
00:30:36.400 letter did
00:30:36.900 not fully
00:30:37.440 capture the
00:30:38.220 context,
00:30:40.020 who cares,
00:30:41.860 the nature,
00:30:43.900 maybe that
00:30:44.540 matters,
00:30:45.440 and the
00:30:46.220 substance,
00:30:47.160 definitely,
00:30:48.080 maybe that
00:30:48.700 matters,
00:30:49.520 of the
00:30:49.920 office's
00:30:50.380 work and
00:30:50.780 conclusions.
00:30:52.820 Three
00:30:53.660 things,
00:30:54.620 context,
00:30:55.480 nature,
00:30:56.280 substance.
00:30:58.220 If Bill
00:30:59.700 Barr didn't
00:31:00.360 provide the
00:31:00.860 context that
00:31:01.760 Bob Mueller
00:31:02.160 wanted,
00:31:02.800 doesn't matter.
00:31:04.500 If Bill
00:31:05.660 Barr
00:31:06.000 inaccurately,
00:31:07.440 presented or
00:31:09.360 relayed the
00:31:10.280 nature of
00:31:12.320 the investigation
00:31:13.940 and conclusions,
00:31:15.520 maybe that
00:31:15.980 does matter.
00:31:16.580 What does
00:31:16.940 Mueller mean
00:31:17.760 by nature
00:31:18.400 here?
00:31:19.660 He's talking
00:31:19.900 about the
00:31:20.140 facts or
00:31:21.500 is he talking
00:31:21.980 about some
00:31:22.460 ambiguous term
00:31:23.400 and the
00:31:24.120 substance?
00:31:24.680 This is the
00:31:25.040 one that
00:31:25.280 really might
00:31:25.720 matter.
00:31:26.020 If he is
00:31:26.840 accusing
00:31:27.340 William Barr
00:31:28.300 of misrepresenting
00:31:29.880 the substance
00:31:30.720 of his
00:31:31.580 conclusions,
00:31:32.500 that's a
00:31:33.560 very serious
00:31:34.380 criticism.
00:31:35.240 But did
00:31:38.040 Mueller,
00:31:38.580 is that what
00:31:38.980 Mueller means?
00:31:39.620 Mueller's using
00:31:40.060 pretty ambiguous
00:31:41.080 terminology here.
00:31:42.560 Well,
00:31:43.120 Bill Barr was
00:31:43.600 asked this
00:31:43.960 question today.
00:31:44.880 He gives a
00:31:45.340 very straight
00:31:45.780 answer.
00:31:46.100 I offered
00:31:46.700 Bob Mueller
00:31:48.220 the opportunity
00:31:49.020 to review
00:31:49.680 that letter
00:31:50.200 before it
00:31:50.720 went out
00:31:51.120 and he
00:31:51.380 declined.
00:31:51.940 on Thursday
00:31:58.400 morning,
00:31:59.820 I received,
00:32:01.140 it probably
00:32:01.560 was received
00:32:02.180 at the
00:32:02.460 department
00:32:02.840 Wednesday
00:32:03.460 night or
00:32:04.840 evening,
00:32:05.440 but on
00:32:05.740 Thursday
00:32:06.040 morning,
00:32:06.580 I received
00:32:07.060 a letter
00:32:07.440 from Bob,
00:32:08.100 the letter
00:32:08.420 that's just
00:32:08.860 been put
00:32:09.260 into the
00:32:09.660 record.
00:32:11.500 And I
00:32:12.060 called Bob
00:32:12.720 and said,
00:32:14.680 what's the
00:32:16.200 issue here?
00:32:17.660 And I
00:32:18.520 asked him
00:32:18.880 if he was
00:32:19.280 suggesting that
00:32:20.080 the March
00:32:20.460 24th letter
00:32:21.280 was inaccurate
00:32:21.940 and he
00:32:22.740 said no,
00:32:23.500 but that the
00:32:24.080 press reporting
00:32:24.960 had been inaccurate
00:32:26.140 and that the
00:32:27.800 press was reading
00:32:28.460 too much
00:32:28.960 into it
00:32:29.600 and I
00:32:30.160 asked him
00:32:30.680 specifically
00:32:31.460 what his
00:32:32.080 concern was
00:32:33.080 and he
00:32:34.380 said that
00:32:35.280 his concern
00:32:36.040 focused on
00:32:37.220 his explanation
00:32:38.460 of why
00:32:39.020 he did not
00:32:39.940 reach a
00:32:40.940 conclusion
00:32:41.420 on obstruction
00:32:42.300 and he
00:32:44.520 wanted more
00:32:45.100 put out
00:32:45.720 on that
00:32:46.220 issue.
00:32:47.840 He wanted,
00:32:49.240 he argued
00:32:50.280 for putting
00:32:50.820 out,
00:32:51.280 summaries
00:32:52.140 of each
00:32:54.060 volume,
00:32:55.080 the executive
00:32:55.660 summaries
00:32:56.220 that had
00:32:57.040 been written
00:32:57.380 by his
00:32:58.080 office
00:32:58.620 and if
00:33:01.220 not that,
00:33:01.900 then other
00:33:02.400 material that
00:33:03.240 focused on
00:33:03.980 the issue
00:33:04.480 of why
00:33:05.040 he didn't
00:33:05.600 reach the
00:33:06.580 obstruction
00:33:07.060 question.
00:33:08.620 But he was
00:33:09.100 very clear
00:33:09.620 with me
00:33:09.960 that he
00:33:10.180 was not
00:33:10.600 suggesting
00:33:11.180 that we
00:33:13.180 had
00:33:13.660 misrepresented
00:33:14.660 his report.
00:33:16.500 There it
00:33:17.120 is.
00:33:17.880 Bill Barr
00:33:18.500 gets the
00:33:19.060 letter
00:33:19.360 from Bob
00:33:20.280 Mueller
00:33:20.540 saying
00:33:22.220 that
00:33:22.860 Bill Barr's
00:33:24.540 letter to
00:33:25.940 Congress
00:33:26.380 did not
00:33:26.860 fully capture
00:33:27.680 the concerns
00:33:28.740 about the
00:33:29.180 context and
00:33:30.020 the nature
00:33:30.520 and the
00:33:31.000 substance.
00:33:31.240 It didn't
00:33:31.420 fully capture.
00:33:32.180 And so
00:33:33.560 Bill Barr,
00:33:35.460 Bill and
00:33:36.040 Bob,
00:33:36.820 Billy Bob,
00:33:37.340 Billy Bob
00:33:37.860 Thornton,
00:33:38.960 Bill Barr
00:33:39.640 calls Bob
00:33:40.600 Mueller and
00:33:41.460 says,
00:33:42.820 listen to
00:33:43.580 Barr's very
00:33:44.280 precise language,
00:33:45.720 are you
00:33:46.240 suggesting that
00:33:47.680 my letter to
00:33:48.400 Congress
00:33:48.940 did not
00:33:50.640 accurately
00:33:51.600 portray
00:33:52.920 what was
00:33:55.580 in your
00:33:55.860 report?
00:33:56.520 Are you
00:33:56.860 suggesting
00:33:57.300 that I
00:33:57.620 was
00:33:57.780 inaccurate
00:33:58.360 in how
00:33:59.620 I
00:33:59.940 talked
00:34:00.260 to
00:34:00.420 Congress?
00:34:01.560 And
00:34:01.940 Mueller
00:34:02.240 said,
00:34:02.560 no,
00:34:02.760 no,
00:34:02.920 no,
00:34:03.100 I'm
00:34:03.240 not
00:34:03.400 suggesting
00:34:03.800 you
00:34:04.020 were
00:34:04.240 inaccurate.
00:34:05.920 I'm
00:34:06.580 suggesting
00:34:07.060 that I
00:34:08.520 want you
00:34:08.980 to release
00:34:10.040 more
00:34:10.340 context,
00:34:11.440 more
00:34:11.640 summaries,
00:34:12.680 more
00:34:12.860 executive
00:34:13.440 summaries
00:34:14.020 of the
00:34:14.520 report.
00:34:15.160 Because
00:34:15.520 in the
00:34:15.920 Mueller
00:34:16.080 report,
00:34:17.160 you have
00:34:17.420 about 400
00:34:17.880 pages,
00:34:18.380 380,
00:34:18.940 something like
00:34:19.320 that,
00:34:19.840 and before
00:34:20.680 each volume,
00:34:21.840 two volumes,
00:34:22.480 you have
00:34:23.200 an executive
00:34:23.720 summary.
00:34:25.020 Now,
00:34:25.600 the executive
00:34:26.000 summary was
00:34:26.560 very helpful
00:34:27.100 when that
00:34:27.480 report was
00:34:27.980 released,
00:34:28.360 and I
00:34:28.540 had to
00:34:28.760 go on
00:34:29.100 TV in
00:34:29.700 about 10
00:34:30.320 minutes,
00:34:30.820 and so I
00:34:31.260 had to
00:34:31.460 quickly scan
00:34:32.540 the executive
00:34:33.680 summary.
00:34:35.060 But clearly
00:34:36.120 what Bob
00:34:36.720 Mueller wanted
00:34:37.260 was for
00:34:37.760 William Barr
00:34:38.340 to release
00:34:39.000 that executive
00:34:39.600 summary right
00:34:40.280 away.
00:34:41.760 And William
00:34:42.180 Barr says,
00:34:42.680 no,
00:34:42.820 I'm not
00:34:43.160 going to
00:34:43.480 release
00:34:43.760 multiple
00:34:44.500 summaries,
00:34:46.180 especially
00:34:46.860 staggered
00:34:47.900 over time,
00:34:49.220 that are
00:34:50.080 going to
00:34:50.840 confuse
00:34:51.660 people.
00:34:52.180 Now,
00:34:52.480 it's not
00:34:53.220 Bob
00:34:54.500 Mueller's
00:34:54.920 call on
00:34:55.980 what summaries
00:34:56.800 and how many
00:34:57.380 press conferences
00:34:58.180 and how many
00:34:58.680 press interviews
00:34:59.340 he wants
00:35:00.160 to give.
00:35:01.400 It seems
00:35:01.940 from the
00:35:02.300 leaking of
00:35:02.860 Bob
00:35:03.220 Mueller's
00:35:03.600 letter that
00:35:04.500 he or
00:35:04.900 somebody on
00:35:05.420 his team
00:35:05.860 is pretty
00:35:06.500 familiar with
00:35:07.080 talking to
00:35:07.540 the press.
00:35:08.400 But what
00:35:09.080 William Barr
00:35:09.520 said is,
00:35:09.940 no,
00:35:10.080 we're not
00:35:10.340 going to
00:35:10.540 do that.
00:35:11.440 And here's
00:35:11.840 his reasoning
00:35:12.240 why.
00:35:12.540 I told
00:35:13.560 Bob that
00:35:14.360 I was
00:35:14.840 not
00:35:15.000 interested
00:35:15.360 in putting
00:35:15.740 out
00:35:16.000 summaries
00:35:16.520 and I
00:35:17.920 wasn't
00:35:18.160 going to
00:35:18.360 put out
00:35:18.640 the report
00:35:19.140 piecemeal.
00:35:20.520 I wanted
00:35:21.220 to get
00:35:21.520 the whole
00:35:21.940 report
00:35:22.400 out.
00:35:23.600 And I
00:35:24.320 thought
00:35:24.560 summaries
00:35:24.980 by very
00:35:25.560 definition,
00:35:26.280 regardless
00:35:26.500 of who
00:35:26.920 prepared
00:35:27.340 them,
00:35:27.600 would be
00:35:27.880 under-inclusive
00:35:28.720 and we'd
00:35:29.960 have sort
00:35:30.360 of a series
00:35:30.860 of different
00:35:31.420 debates
00:35:31.940 and public
00:35:32.540 discord
00:35:33.960 over each
00:35:34.960 tranche
00:35:35.620 of information
00:35:36.640 that went
00:35:37.080 out.
00:35:37.340 Pretty
00:35:42.320 sound
00:35:42.640 reasoning.
00:35:43.260 And by
00:35:43.480 the way,
00:35:43.780 it turns
00:35:44.120 out that
00:35:44.480 Barr was
00:35:44.880 right.
00:35:46.180 Barr's
00:35:46.500 argument
00:35:46.820 is,
00:35:47.460 if you
00:35:47.720 release
00:35:48.100 these
00:35:48.320 things
00:35:48.580 piecemeal
00:35:49.240 and different
00:35:49.660 summaries,
00:35:50.120 it's going
00:35:50.340 to be
00:35:50.560 endlessly
00:35:50.960 ripped
00:35:51.340 apart,
00:35:51.820 argued
00:35:52.140 about,
00:35:52.900 there's
00:35:53.240 going to
00:35:53.420 be a
00:35:53.600 lot of
00:35:53.840 controversy,
00:35:54.920 better
00:35:55.140 to just
00:35:55.900 give
00:35:56.560 Congress
00:35:57.160 the quick
00:35:58.200 view of
00:35:58.580 things and
00:35:59.360 then release
00:35:59.820 the report
00:36:00.300 when we
00:36:00.660 can.
00:36:01.380 And by
00:36:01.620 the way,
00:36:01.860 the only
00:36:02.100 reason
00:36:02.460 Barr
00:36:02.660 had to
00:36:03.060 send
00:36:03.400 that
00:36:03.580 letter
00:36:03.840 to
00:36:04.060 Congress
00:36:04.380 in the
00:36:04.640 first
00:36:04.820 place,
00:36:05.480 which
00:36:05.580 obviously
00:36:06.180 then came
00:36:07.220 out to
00:36:07.460 the
00:36:07.560 public,
00:36:08.440 was
00:36:08.820 because
00:36:09.360 William
00:36:09.900 Barr
00:36:10.160 asked
00:36:10.780 Bob
00:36:11.100 Mueller
00:36:11.380 to
00:36:11.860 send
00:36:12.220 him
00:36:12.380 over
00:36:12.620 a
00:36:12.820 report
00:36:13.180 with
00:36:13.920 the
00:36:14.600 grand
00:36:15.260 jury
00:36:15.640 sections
00:36:17.480 highlighted
00:36:18.200 so that
00:36:19.380 it would
00:36:19.720 be much
00:36:20.060 easier
00:36:20.440 for the
00:36:21.140 Department
00:36:21.700 of Justice
00:36:22.160 to then
00:36:22.760 go in
00:36:23.280 and redact
00:36:24.360 those areas
00:36:25.180 because you're
00:36:25.880 not allowed
00:36:26.260 to release
00:36:26.820 that grand
00:36:28.100 jury
00:36:28.320 information.
00:36:29.900 There are
00:36:30.300 multiple
00:36:30.700 aspects
00:36:31.180 of this
00:36:32.120 report
00:36:32.400 that you
00:36:32.820 legally
00:36:33.280 cannot
00:36:33.680 release
00:36:34.020 to the
00:36:34.240 public.
00:36:34.680 So he
00:36:34.980 said,
00:36:35.200 listen,
00:36:35.460 when you've
00:36:35.680 got the
00:36:35.960 grand
00:36:36.160 jury
00:36:36.300 information,
00:36:36.800 just
00:36:37.340 highlight
00:36:37.740 it so
00:36:38.120 that it
00:36:38.340 makes
00:36:38.520 it easier
00:36:38.820 for us
00:36:39.080 to go
00:36:39.300 through
00:36:39.500 it.
00:36:40.040 Mueller
00:36:40.200 sends
00:36:40.480 over a
00:36:40.820 400-page
00:36:41.540 report
00:36:41.900 without
00:36:42.460 any of
00:36:43.040 those
00:36:43.260 annotations
00:36:43.900 on it.
00:36:44.560 And so
00:36:44.900 William Barr
00:36:45.640 can't just
00:36:46.240 release the
00:36:46.760 report.
00:36:47.940 He can't
00:36:48.320 just say,
00:36:48.840 okay,
00:36:49.180 well,
00:36:49.360 I did a
00:36:49.680 quick half
00:36:50.100 hour pass.
00:36:50.740 There you
00:36:50.940 go.
00:36:51.100 Here's
00:36:51.240 400 pages,
00:36:52.040 everybody.
00:36:53.300 He had to
00:36:53.820 go through
00:36:54.200 it very
00:36:55.340 meticulously
00:36:56.120 as a matter
00:36:56.760 of law.
00:36:57.800 However,
00:36:58.340 because he
00:36:58.840 had the
00:36:59.200 report,
00:36:59.740 he also
00:37:00.160 wanted to
00:37:00.560 be transparent
00:37:01.240 and he
00:37:01.940 knew that
00:37:02.220 the media
00:37:02.700 and the
00:37:03.060 public were
00:37:06.800 then wait
00:37:07.160 weeks and
00:37:07.720 weeks and
00:37:08.760 open himself
00:37:09.820 up to
00:37:10.100 accusations
00:37:10.700 that he
00:37:11.000 was changing
00:37:11.540 the report.
00:37:12.340 He was
00:37:12.840 doctoring it.
00:37:14.200 He wouldn't
00:37:14.840 let it be
00:37:15.220 released.
00:37:15.760 He sent
00:37:16.120 out a
00:37:16.360 four-page
00:37:17.000 letter to
00:37:17.640 Congress
00:37:18.120 to keep
00:37:18.840 them
00:37:19.200 apprised
00:37:20.900 of what
00:37:21.120 was going
00:37:21.480 on,
00:37:21.760 especially
00:37:21.980 in their
00:37:22.280 oversight
00:37:22.740 role,
00:37:23.340 and then
00:37:23.860 he released
00:37:24.280 the report
00:37:24.600 as quickly
00:37:24.960 as possible.
00:37:26.040 We have
00:37:26.460 the report.
00:37:27.420 You can
00:37:27.760 read the
00:37:28.140 report.
00:37:28.880 You can
00:37:29.140 see whether
00:37:29.600 the letter
00:37:30.520 was accurate
00:37:31.100 or inaccurate.
00:37:32.440 It was
00:37:32.700 accurate.
00:37:34.420 Now,
00:37:34.700 this raises
00:37:35.400 the question,
00:37:36.380 how
00:37:36.660 was the
00:37:37.160 Mueller
00:37:37.300 letter
00:37:37.640 to
00:37:38.700 Barr
00:37:39.060 released
00:37:39.560 to the
00:37:39.800 press?
00:37:41.340 Seems
00:37:41.820 pretty clear
00:37:42.500 to me
00:37:42.900 that the
00:37:44.980 Mueller
00:37:45.180 team is
00:37:45.780 a little
00:37:46.000 leakier
00:37:46.560 than we
00:37:46.880 thought it
00:37:47.240 was.
00:37:47.440 We were
00:37:47.640 told through
00:37:47.980 the whole
00:37:48.220 investigation,
00:37:49.340 Mueller
00:37:49.520 never leaks,
00:37:50.300 Mueller
00:37:50.460 never leaks.
00:37:51.260 It certainly
00:37:51.540 appeared that
00:37:52.000 way,
00:37:52.580 but now
00:37:53.020 I'm beginning
00:37:53.460 to question
00:37:53.980 that.
00:37:54.440 And when
00:37:55.460 Chuck Grassley,
00:37:56.700 the Republican
00:37:57.280 senator,
00:37:57.960 was questioning
00:37:58.700 William
00:37:59.100 Barr,
00:37:59.840 Barr
00:38:00.220 raised this
00:38:01.380 point
00:38:01.700 specifically.
00:38:02.940 What are
00:38:03.280 you doing
00:38:03.840 to investigate
00:38:04.640 unauthorized
00:38:05.680 media
00:38:06.100 contacts
00:38:06.760 by the
00:38:07.440 department
00:38:07.920 and FBI
00:38:08.640 officials
00:38:09.280 during the
00:38:10.200 Reichen
00:38:10.480 investigation?
00:38:11.900 We have
00:38:12.440 multiple
00:38:12.960 criminal leak
00:38:13.800 investigations
00:38:14.600 underway.
00:38:16.200 Multiple
00:38:16.800 criminal leak
00:38:17.440 investigations
00:38:18.080 underway,
00:38:18.600 as it should
00:38:19.140 be.
00:38:19.380 All of
00:38:19.780 this is
00:38:20.260 theater.
00:38:22.020 You can
00:38:22.400 see the
00:38:23.180 report.
00:38:24.240 You can
00:38:24.540 read the
00:38:25.200 report.
00:38:26.400 So now
00:38:27.240 the Democrats,
00:38:28.340 because they
00:38:28.720 have nothing
00:38:29.060 on the actual
00:38:29.580 question,
00:38:30.520 try to
00:38:30.820 vilify
00:38:31.180 Barr.
00:38:31.480 Trouble
00:38:32.640 for them,
00:38:33.660 this is the
00:38:34.120 best part
00:38:34.480 of watching
00:38:34.860 this hearing
00:38:35.280 this morning,
00:38:36.100 is that
00:38:36.880 William
00:38:37.240 Barr is
00:38:37.720 much
00:38:38.060 smarter
00:38:38.480 than all
00:38:39.080 of these
00:38:39.360 people
00:38:39.620 combined.
00:38:40.140 Here is
00:38:40.440 Democrat
00:38:41.180 Sheldon
00:38:41.540 Whitehouse
00:38:42.060 trying to
00:38:42.720 take a
00:38:43.000 shot at
00:38:43.320 Barr.
00:38:43.500 in the
00:38:44.160 entirety of
00:38:45.240 your
00:38:45.500 previous
00:38:46.020 career in
00:38:46.520 the
00:38:46.600 Department
00:38:46.880 of
00:38:47.080 Justice,
00:38:48.040 including
00:38:48.440 as
00:38:48.680 Attorney
00:38:48.940 General,
00:38:49.500 have
00:38:49.660 you
00:38:49.840 ever
00:38:50.200 referred
00:38:50.640 to
00:38:51.240 authorized
00:38:52.440 department
00:38:53.140 investigative
00:38:53.880 activities
00:38:54.640 officially
00:38:55.980 or publicly
00:38:56.960 as
00:38:57.720 spying?
00:38:58.940 I'm not
00:38:59.280 asking for
00:38:59.640 private
00:39:00.100 conversation.
00:39:00.640 I'm not
00:39:01.020 going to
00:39:01.380 abjure the
00:39:02.660 use of the
00:39:03.080 word spying.
00:39:04.040 I think,
00:39:04.960 you know,
00:39:05.400 my first job
00:39:06.020 was in CIA,
00:39:07.060 and I don't
00:39:07.440 think the word
00:39:08.040 spying has any
00:39:08.780 pejorative
00:39:09.260 connotation at
00:39:10.260 all.
00:39:10.900 To me,
00:39:11.160 the question
00:39:12.520 is always,
00:39:13.500 whether or
00:39:14.100 not it's
00:39:14.600 authorized
00:39:15.300 and adequately
00:39:16.240 predicated
00:39:17.060 spying.
00:39:18.500 I think
00:39:19.180 spying is
00:39:20.060 a good
00:39:20.440 English word
00:39:21.200 that in fact
00:39:21.840 doesn't have
00:39:22.520 synonyms
00:39:23.200 because it
00:39:23.700 is the
00:39:24.020 broadest
00:39:24.500 word
00:39:24.920 incorporating
00:39:26.460 really all
00:39:27.160 forms of
00:39:27.760 covert
00:39:28.280 intelligence
00:39:29.260 collection.
00:39:30.040 So I'm
00:39:30.200 not going
00:39:30.400 to back
00:39:30.760 off the
00:39:31.180 word
00:39:31.360 spying,
00:39:31.920 except I
00:39:32.540 will say
00:39:32.980 I'm not
00:39:33.500 suggesting
00:39:34.080 any
00:39:34.340 pejorative,
00:39:35.060 and I
00:39:35.240 use it
00:39:35.560 frequently
00:39:36.000 as
00:39:36.360 the
00:39:36.520 media.
00:39:38.020 Oh,
00:39:39.100 it's just
00:39:39.800 devastating.
00:39:40.900 It's so
00:39:41.620 bad.
00:39:42.140 And obviously
00:39:43.620 it's bad
00:39:44.320 because
00:39:44.820 William Barr
00:39:46.220 uses very
00:39:47.080 technical language
00:39:48.000 here.
00:39:48.980 He uses
00:39:49.660 sophisticated
00:39:50.180 language.
00:39:50.740 He says,
00:39:51.000 I'm not
00:39:51.160 going to
00:39:51.440 abjure the
00:39:52.020 term
00:39:52.380 spying
00:39:53.560 because I
00:39:53.940 don't think
00:39:54.220 it carries
00:39:54.620 a pejorative.
00:39:55.660 But then
00:39:56.180 he even
00:39:58.020 makes the
00:39:58.440 point clearer
00:39:59.000 for the
00:39:59.360 media and
00:39:59.720 everyone who's
00:40:00.140 watching.
00:40:00.580 He says,
00:40:00.800 I think
00:40:01.020 spying is a
00:40:01.960 good English
00:40:02.520 word.
00:40:03.340 It has
00:40:03.760 no synonyms
00:40:04.660 because it's
00:40:05.060 the broadest
00:40:05.800 word you
00:40:06.200 can use.
00:40:06.760 And this
00:40:07.420 was a
00:40:07.760 master
00:40:08.160 stroke.
00:40:08.740 Nobody is
00:40:09.320 picking up
00:40:09.760 on this,
00:40:10.380 but this
00:40:10.620 was a
00:40:10.880 master
00:40:11.180 stroke for
00:40:11.720 more reasons
00:40:13.060 than one.
00:40:14.360 The whole
00:40:15.120 debate over
00:40:16.360 the last
00:40:16.820 two years
00:40:17.460 about
00:40:18.340 Russiagate
00:40:19.020 and the
00:40:19.240 investigation
00:40:19.860 and the
00:40:20.160 counterintelligence
00:40:20.860 investigation
00:40:21.400 and the
00:40:21.760 criminal
00:40:22.000 and all
00:40:22.340 this has
00:40:23.780 surrounded
00:40:24.360 the question
00:40:25.060 of the
00:40:25.540 deep
00:40:25.860 state.
00:40:26.700 It has
00:40:27.180 surrounded
00:40:27.600 the question
00:40:28.260 of spying.
00:40:30.140 And what
00:40:30.560 the Democrats
00:40:32.240 have been
00:40:32.740 saying is
00:40:33.940 the deep
00:40:34.480 state,
00:40:35.140 the spying,
00:40:35.800 was totally
00:40:36.620 justified.
00:40:37.760 All the
00:40:38.140 FISA
00:40:38.460 surveillance
00:40:39.180 totally
00:40:40.460 justified.
00:40:42.040 And what
00:40:42.680 the Republicans
00:40:43.200 have been
00:40:43.520 saying is
00:40:43.920 this was
00:40:44.220 an abuse,
00:40:45.640 the spying
00:40:46.080 was bad,
00:40:47.320 spying is
00:40:47.780 awful,
00:40:48.220 we shouldn't
00:40:48.520 have people
00:40:48.860 spying on
00:40:49.420 each other.
00:40:50.740 And the
00:40:51.540 premise here
00:40:52.420 of the
00:40:53.160 White House,
00:40:54.580 Sheldon
00:40:54.900 White House's
00:40:55.460 question,
00:40:56.980 the premise
00:40:57.560 is that the
00:40:58.360 spying is
00:40:59.360 bad.
00:41:00.940 So Sheldon
00:41:02.000 White House,
00:41:02.540 without even
00:41:02.980 realizing it,
00:41:04.200 is accepting
00:41:04.980 the
00:41:05.420 conservative
00:41:05.940 premise.
00:41:07.120 Yeah,
00:41:07.280 of course
00:41:07.520 it's bad
00:41:07.900 to spy
00:41:08.300 on your
00:41:08.560 political
00:41:08.840 opponents.
00:41:09.840 Yeah,
00:41:09.980 of course,
00:41:10.720 of course,
00:41:11.480 if there
00:41:11.860 was spying,
00:41:12.560 it's really
00:41:12.900 bad.
00:41:13.980 That's why
00:41:14.400 we can't
00:41:14.800 use the
00:41:15.140 word spy.
00:41:15.920 That's why
00:41:16.300 we've got
00:41:16.600 to make
00:41:16.900 up some
00:41:17.240 new word.
00:41:18.160 And we
00:41:18.580 have to
00:41:19.120 get rid
00:41:19.880 of the
00:41:20.120 word
00:41:20.320 spying.
00:41:21.660 What Barr
00:41:22.520 is pointing
00:41:23.040 out here
00:41:23.540 is that
00:41:24.360 the Democrat,
00:41:25.260 Sheldon
00:41:25.480 White House,
00:41:25.960 is accepting
00:41:26.580 the Republican
00:41:27.060 premise.
00:41:28.180 Saying,
00:41:28.860 Senator
00:41:29.220 White House,
00:41:30.340 you're using
00:41:30.900 the word
00:41:31.240 spying as
00:41:31.980 though it's
00:41:32.240 a bad
00:41:32.600 thing.
00:41:33.500 I used to
00:41:33.880 work at
00:41:34.160 the CIA.
00:41:35.320 Our
00:41:35.440 government
00:41:35.760 spies all
00:41:36.320 the time.
00:41:37.280 Spying is
00:41:37.880 neither good
00:41:38.500 nor bad.
00:41:39.220 Spying is
00:41:39.680 a totally
00:41:40.180 morally
00:41:40.900 neutral
00:41:41.320 term.
00:41:42.600 The
00:41:42.720 question is
00:41:43.400 whether the
00:41:43.900 spying was
00:41:44.740 legal,
00:41:46.060 legitimate,
00:41:47.300 appropriate,
00:41:48.380 or whether
00:41:48.960 it was
00:41:49.740 inappropriate,
00:41:50.660 whether it
00:41:51.000 was an
00:41:51.220 abuse of
00:41:51.740 power.
00:41:53.620 Sheldon
00:41:54.060 White House
00:41:54.440 gives up
00:41:54.880 the whole
00:41:55.180 game here.
00:41:57.920 He's
00:41:58.360 saying,
00:41:58.800 oh,
00:41:59.000 yeah,
00:41:59.440 of course
00:41:59.700 this spying
00:42:00.260 is bad.
00:42:00.720 No,
00:42:01.040 no.
00:42:02.000 I'm not
00:42:02.620 using the
00:42:03.020 word spying
00:42:03.560 in a bad
00:42:03.920 way.
00:42:04.160 You're
00:42:04.400 using it
00:42:04.840 in a bad
00:42:05.180 way.
00:42:05.420 Why?
00:42:05.860 Because you
00:42:06.280 know that
00:42:07.440 the spying
00:42:08.040 that took
00:42:08.400 place,
00:42:09.160 you know
00:42:09.800 that the
00:42:10.420 FISA warrants
00:42:11.200 from the
00:42:11.500 Trump campaign
00:42:12.100 based on
00:42:12.660 nothing,
00:42:13.420 based on
00:42:13.920 Democrat-funded
00:42:14.740 steel dossiers
00:42:15.700 and Russian
00:42:16.400 disinformation,
00:42:17.480 you know that
00:42:18.120 that spying
00:42:18.780 was bad.
00:42:19.680 You know
00:42:20.000 that it
00:42:20.280 carries a
00:42:20.740 pejorative
00:42:21.140 connotation.
00:42:23.560 It's a
00:42:24.160 subtle point.
00:42:24.880 It's not
00:42:25.200 going to be
00:42:25.600 widely
00:42:25.900 appreciated,
00:42:26.820 but that
00:42:27.180 point is
00:42:27.880 going to
00:42:28.160 matter in
00:42:28.500 the coming
00:42:28.760 weeks.
00:42:30.720 So he
00:42:31.340 fails.
00:42:31.740 He fails to
00:42:32.280 take down
00:42:32.620 Barr.
00:42:33.380 Dianne
00:42:33.700 Feinstein
00:42:34.080 also tries
00:42:34.900 to take
00:42:35.220 her shot
00:42:35.700 at Barr.
00:42:36.620 You still
00:42:37.220 have a
00:42:37.620 situation
00:42:38.220 where a
00:42:39.740 president
00:42:40.180 essentially
00:42:41.480 tries to
00:42:42.340 change
00:42:42.880 the lawyer's
00:42:45.800 account in
00:42:46.700 order to
00:42:47.280 prevent
00:42:47.740 further
00:42:48.800 criticism
00:42:50.160 of himself.
00:42:51.520 Well,
00:42:51.740 that's not
00:42:52.040 a crime.
00:42:52.460 And she
00:42:55.600 just sort
00:42:56.420 of
00:42:56.540 stammers
00:42:57.040 after that.
00:42:57.880 She goes,
00:42:58.060 uh-uh.
00:42:59.160 Um,
00:43:00.240 uh,
00:43:01.540 uh,
00:43:02.080 she's got
00:43:03.220 nothing.
00:43:05.640 There's an
00:43:06.320 interesting point
00:43:07.000 on language
00:43:07.480 here as well,
00:43:08.260 which is,
00:43:09.260 you hear the
00:43:09.840 Democrats
00:43:10.420 trying to
00:43:11.160 use all
00:43:11.700 of this
00:43:12.120 confusing,
00:43:13.140 jargony
00:43:13.600 terminology,
00:43:14.840 trying to
00:43:15.300 imply that
00:43:16.200 certain
00:43:16.500 activities,
00:43:17.560 like the
00:43:18.000 relationship
00:43:18.580 with the
00:43:19.360 lawyers and
00:43:20.140 the clients,
00:43:20.940 this is
00:43:21.900 somehow
00:43:22.260 nefarious.
00:43:23.480 And then
00:43:23.700 Bill Barr
00:43:24.100 comes in
00:43:24.580 very clearly.
00:43:25.300 He goes,
00:43:25.540 that's not
00:43:25.780 a crime.
00:43:27.160 What crime
00:43:28.100 are you
00:43:28.380 alleging?
00:43:29.620 I wish
00:43:29.980 Bill Barr
00:43:30.420 had been
00:43:30.640 around two
00:43:31.340 years ago.
00:43:32.700 Donald Trump
00:43:33.520 colluded
00:43:34.040 with the
00:43:34.440 Russians.
00:43:36.040 There's no
00:43:36.660 evidence that
00:43:37.180 he did.
00:43:37.640 Even if he
00:43:38.080 did,
00:43:38.340 collusion is
00:43:38.860 not a
00:43:39.140 crime.
00:43:40.060 There's no
00:43:40.440 crime of
00:43:41.000 collusion.
00:43:43.280 He is,
00:43:44.040 Bill Barr
00:43:44.660 is just
00:43:45.360 the absolute
00:43:46.680 BS
00:43:47.780 destroyer.
00:43:48.820 He just
00:43:49.100 decimates it
00:43:49.920 with that
00:43:50.580 totally
00:43:51.180 blasé look
00:43:52.240 on his
00:43:52.560 face.
00:43:53.480 He looks
00:43:53.880 like a
00:43:54.260 bored
00:43:54.580 bulldog.
00:43:55.820 He does
00:43:56.220 remind me
00:43:56.640 in many
00:43:56.880 ways of
00:43:57.260 Scalia.
00:43:58.400 When you
00:43:58.700 would see
00:43:59.000 Scalia rip
00:44:00.980 apart bad
00:44:01.680 arguments,
00:44:02.600 he would
00:44:02.880 do it
00:44:03.260 with this
00:44:03.620 kind of
00:44:04.380 blasé,
00:44:07.040 oh well,
00:44:07.820 the problem
00:44:08.960 with your
00:44:09.420 argument is
00:44:09.960 it's completely
00:44:10.460 wrong.
00:44:11.660 That's what
00:44:12.340 Bill Barr
00:44:13.180 is doing
00:44:13.560 here.
00:44:13.760 And they
00:44:13.920 have no
00:44:14.200 answer.
00:44:14.600 You can
00:44:15.040 see Dianne
00:44:15.620 Feinstein
00:44:15.980 just stammer.
00:44:16.700 Hamina,
00:44:16.960 hamina,
00:44:17.220 hamina.
00:44:17.840 What's the
00:44:18.380 real reason?
00:44:18.940 At the
00:44:20.460 end of
00:44:20.700 all of
00:44:20.960 this
00:44:21.120 circus
00:44:21.580 that
00:44:22.420 Democrats
00:44:22.800 want
00:44:23.180 Barr
00:44:23.520 out
00:44:23.780 right
00:44:24.040 now,
00:44:24.980 what's
00:44:25.200 the real reason?
00:44:25.680 He's a
00:44:26.140 bulldog.
00:44:28.100 Now,
00:44:29.300 maybe they're
00:44:30.000 just desperate.
00:44:30.720 They're
00:44:30.800 grasping at
00:44:31.300 straws.
00:44:31.640 They need
00:44:31.880 a new
00:44:32.120 boogeyman.
00:44:32.720 Sure.
00:44:33.160 I think
00:44:33.460 there's a
00:44:33.740 more
00:44:33.880 material
00:44:34.340 reason,
00:44:34.980 too.
00:44:35.540 And it's
00:44:35.980 William Barr's
00:44:36.760 answer to
00:44:37.220 this question
00:44:37.940 from
00:44:38.380 Lindsey Graham.
00:44:38.980 Do you
00:44:39.880 share my
00:44:40.320 concerns about
00:44:41.200 the FISA
00:44:41.680 warrant process?
00:44:43.300 Yes.
00:44:43.860 Do you
00:44:44.120 share my
00:44:44.500 concerns about
00:44:45.200 the
00:44:45.380 counterintelligence
00:44:46.220 investigation,
00:44:47.060 how it was
00:44:47.440 opened and
00:44:47.880 why it was
00:44:48.300 opened?
00:44:48.840 Yes.
00:44:49.700 Do you
00:44:49.960 share my
00:44:50.340 concerns that
00:44:51.160 the
00:44:51.300 lack of
00:44:53.040 professionalism
00:44:54.000 in the
00:44:55.000 Clinton email
00:44:55.540 investigation is
00:44:56.480 something we
