The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 560 - Real Institutional Oppression

00:00:00.000 Since all this civil unrest started, I have wanted to know what my candy companies think

00:00:06.460 about racial relations and oppression in America. And finally, we've got the answer.

00:00:12.220 Gushers, the little fruity candy where when you bite into it, the little like the juice kind of

00:00:18.020 shoots out Gushers, you know, they've finally issued a statement on Black Lives Matter. So 0.50

00:00:23.620 Gushers said, Gushers wouldn't be Gushers without the black community and your voices.

00:00:30.000 We're working with fruit by the foot. I'm creating space to amplify that. I'm not joking. They

00:00:35.960 actually sent this tweet out. We see you. We stand by you. And this was, this was followed by a long

00:00:43.820 statement on why Black Lives Matter, which was then followed by the Gushers logo. At this point,

00:00:52.060 Dunkaroo's silence is deafening on this issue. Gushers statement on the race riots, and that is

00:00:58.440 a statement that I never thought that I would ever utter. Gushers statement on the race riots

00:01:03.560 tells us a lot about institutional power in the United States. We'll get to all of it. I'm Michael

00:01:08.740 Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles Show. Gushers, Dunkaroos, I want to know what Capri Sun thinks

00:01:21.280 about this. I haven't heard from them yet. Lots of institutions weighing in on our, on our deepest

00:01:27.680 social questions. We will get to that because I think this actually gets to the heart, not even

00:01:32.320 just of the Black Lives Matter issue, not even to the lockdown issue, but, but really to deep political

00:01:38.140 questions in the U.S. We hear a lot about institutional power in the United States, institutional racism,

00:01:45.540 institutional oppression. The left keeps using that phrase. I'm not sure that it means what they think it

00:01:50.100 means. We'll get to that in one second. First, though, I got to thank our friends over at Legal

00:03:01.880 LegalZoom.com. Code Knowles. Legal Zoom, where life meets legal. You hear this phrase all the time,

00:03:09.580 institutional power. There is institutional racism. Most conservatives react to that by just

00:03:17.660 simply denying that that exists. Is there institutional racism? No. Fair enough, but

00:03:24.000 let's think this through one level further. Let's say that the left is right. Let's say that there is

00:03:30.460 institutional racism and institutional oppression. Let me ask you one question.

00:03:35.760 Who controls the institutions? In the United States today, who controls virtually all of the

00:03:43.940 major institutions? Is it the right or the left? Is it conservatives or is it liberals? Any reasonable

00:03:49.480 person looking around at the media, looking around at the bureaucracy, looking around at the academy,

00:03:55.020 looking around at all of them. It would say it's the left. The left. And last night on Sean Hannity's

00:04:02.180 show, I think he hosted a debate that perfectly exemplifies this. This was a debate, I guess,

00:04:09.720 meant to heal race relations in America. Don't think it quite accomplished that. It was a debate

00:04:14.260 between the Marxist professor, Cornel West, and the talk radio host, Leo Terrell. Just take a listen to a

00:04:24.120 quick, maybe 30 seconds, a very telling 30 seconds of the exchange.

00:04:29.880 It's my turn. You try to conflate. You try to conflate protesting and police misconduct. And I shame

00:04:36.000 on you. And you're absolutely wrong. You won't address the issue. You will refuse to address the

00:04:41.460 issue. I'm talking to you. You're not my brother. You're not my brother. You are hurting black people 1.00

00:04:48.680 by acting this position. You are taking the wrong position. That's it. No, my brother. That stuff 0.99

00:04:54.500 plays out. That plays out. Address the question. Do you? Oh my gosh. You have lost control. You're

00:05:02.560 a dinosaur. You're an outright dinosaur. Okay. How many IQ points do you think you lost 0.99

00:05:09.100 listening to that exchange? Because I, I don't know, man, it might be up in the double digits.

00:05:13.620 That was an exchange that if you didn't see it, you have, you have Leo Terrell, who's reacting to

00:05:18.900 this crazy person, Cornel West. And Cornel West is the Marxist professor who is dressed up like

00:05:24.060 Karl Marx. If you look at his outfit, if you look at the way the guy looks, he looks in many ways like

00:05:29.420 Karl Marx, which is not particularly surprising. For those of you who haven't followed Cornel West's

00:05:35.260 career, he, I'm not just using this phrase loosely. He is a Marxist professor. He's the head of the,

00:05:41.360 the African-American studies department at Harvard. At least he was, which by the way,

00:05:46.080 like all critical studies departments is a fake academic discipline that is really just pushing

00:05:50.780 political ideology rather than a traditional academic discipline. He very famously though,

00:05:56.080 while running the AFAM department at Harvard, he clashed with then Harvard president Larry Summers

00:06:01.760 because Larry Summers suggested that Cornel West should perhaps show up to class rather than campaigning

00:06:08.180 for democratic politicians. He had missed, I think, weeks of class because he was campaigning

00:06:12.920 for Democrats. He said that Cornel West was contributing to great inflation because Cornel

00:06:16.760 West was giving people easy A's. And then most outrageously, instead of publishing serious

00:06:22.880 scholarly work while, while he was running the department at this time, he instead put out

00:06:28.080 a hip hop CD. Seriously, this is what a Harvard professor was doing. So Larry Summers criticized

00:06:33.540 this. And then Larry Summers was accused of racism because if you tell people to actually publish

00:06:38.920 scholarly work while they're professors at top universities, apparently that's racist now.

00:06:43.800 Regardless, I think these, these two guys who were debating on the show last night, I think they

00:06:49.860 are a perfect example, not just of the individuals here or the content of the debate. You couldn't say

00:06:56.060 there was very much content to that debate. It was just Cornel West yelling crazy things at Leo.

00:06:59.820 They're representatives of institutional power in the United States. In the U.S. right now,

00:07:07.640 the left owns the academy. Cornel West is a great example of American academics, right? They own

00:07:15.500 corporate America because radical left-wing messages under the guise of racial healing or something,

00:07:22.980 but they are at bottom politically radical leftist messages, Marxist in fact, are coming out from

00:07:29.080 corporate America like Gushers or like Fruit by the Foot or whatever, or by every other company that

00:07:33.960 you've gotten emails from over the past few weeks. The left owns government. Even when Republicans

00:07:39.420 manage to get elected, first of all, very often those people aren't conservative. They're more of

00:07:44.000 the liberal strain of Republicans. But even when they get elected, if they try to fight back and push too

00:07:48.440 much, then the bureaucracy, what's called the deep state or the administrative state, pushes back

00:07:53.460 because the administrative state is, by its very character, left-wing. The left owns Hollywood,

00:08:00.800 obviously. The left owns the mainstream media, virtually every news organization that has influence

00:08:05.800 in the United States. The left owns big tech, which controls the flow of information around the United

00:08:09.500 States. Virtually every institution is left-wing, with one exception, talk radio and maybe a few

00:08:15.240 podcasts. So Leo Terrell over there, a radio host, is representative of the one institution that the right

00:08:22.340 kind of has. And so the debate actually makes perfect sense. You've got this academic, sort of

00:08:28.880 ridiculous, maybe pseudo-academic, at least for much of his career, versus this radio host, as evidence of 0.88

00:08:35.320 the left and the right. Who owns the institutions? If you've got a problem with institutional racism, 0.91

00:08:42.680 allegedly, even before you deny it, just go out there and say, okay, if it's true, maybe you should blame

00:08:48.480 yourselves, leftists, because you run the institutions. A friend came up to me the other

00:08:53.700 day. A friend came up talking about these messages of BLM, you know, which, as we pointed out on the

00:09:01.560 show, is not just about black lives mattering, far from it. BLM on their About page says that they want

00:09:07.680 to destroy the, quote, Western-prescribed nuclear family. BLM, really radical stuff, using words like

00:09:15.300 comrade, you know, typical Marxist language. Frank came up to me and said, with all of this BLM stuff 1.00

00:09:21.820 going on, the media is so focused on ginning up racial tension and ginning up racial division,

00:09:30.280 it almost seems to me like they want to make people racist. And isn't that so crazy? And I

00:09:36.480 thought about it for a moment, and I thought, that's exactly what they want to do. That's exactly

00:09:41.460 what they want to do. Why is that? Well, it ties in a little bit to some conversations we've been

00:09:48.340 having over the past few weeks about liberalism itself. That maybe, you've heard some conservative

00:09:53.480 critiques over the past few years, critiques of liberalism, the broad liberal project, including

00:09:58.320 classical liberalism, including libertarianism, just this, the whole idea of liberalism, if you had

00:10:03.480 to boil it down to a line or two, is this idea of emancipating yourself from this oppressive past,

00:10:09.900 the past, the tradition, our forefathers, they were terrible and bad and oppressive. And we

00:10:15.740 systematically, progressively are liberating ourselves from that. And there's a version

00:10:20.660 on the right that you see of that, and there's a version on the left that you see. And so intrinsic

00:10:24.780 to liberalism is this idea that you're constantly, you have to be liberating yourself from something.

00:10:29.940 There's always got to be a bad guy. There's always got to be a boogeyman oppressor that you're

00:10:34.080 overcoming. And the problem for the left right now in America is there just ain't that much

00:10:39.540 oppression. It just ain't that much. They always talk about the white supremacists,

00:10:44.800 the phantom white supremacists that are constituting the majority of Americans and 1.00

00:10:49.100 they're so evil and terrible. And that's why we've got to stand up and courageously say 0.99

00:10:52.720 black lives matter, even though that's a statement that everybody agrees with. 1.00

00:10:56.100 Nobody disagrees with that statement, but we all have to pretend like there's a huge number

00:11:00.180 of people here who disagree with that simple and obvious statement. And there just isn't.

00:11:04.740 So for instance, when the allegedly peaceful protests turned violent, the mainstream media

00:11:09.860 told us, well, it turned violent because of the white supremacists who showed up. Well,

00:11:14.340 you know, I'm looking at the footage. I don't see a lot of white supremacists.

00:11:17.600 Oh, the big threat here is the Ku Klux Klan. The last image I saw of the Ku Klux Klan was an image

00:11:22.900 from the Democratic governor of Virginia's medical school yearbook. Okay. When he dressed up as a 0.75

00:11:28.060 Klansman for Halloween or possibly in blackface, we still don't know which one he was in,

00:11:31.740 but it was one of those. The Ku Klux Klan, how many, how many of them are there in the country?

00:11:35.860 Like four? But the media has to invent this phantom so that we can then overcome it and

00:11:43.900 extricate ourselves from it. You know, we might be able to celebrate in America that we have a period

00:11:49.940 of, you know, relative justice, equity, prosperity, liberty. You know, things are pretty good in this

00:11:58.140 country, aren't they? But that just doesn't work. And so the left invents the phantom.

00:12:03.980 They invent this phantom of institutional oppression without realizing the irony that

00:12:08.560 they control all of the institutions and it's only going to get worse. You see, it's not,

00:12:13.860 I think some squishes on the conservative side of things, they think that if we can just prove to

00:12:19.080 the left that no, actually there isn't that much oppression. No, actually we aren't racist.

00:12:24.100 That then the left will say, okay, good. That's not how it works. The left is going to double down.

00:12:28.740 They're going to try to gin up racial tension even more. They're going to try to divide people even 0.58

00:12:32.420 more. They're going to try to invent even more racists and bigots because they need them to then 0.99

00:12:37.640 overcome them. They need a villain. And guess what, Buster? No matter how just and nice and wonderful and

00:12:44.160 equitable you are and kind, you've got to be that villain if you oppose the liberal left-wing

00:12:51.520 agenda. Merriam-Webster's dictionary just redefined the term racism. So racism, according to Merriam-Webster,

00:12:59.980 was, quote, a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and

00:13:07.160 that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. That's a pretty 0.97

00:13:12.920 basic definition of racism. I think we can all accept that. None of us want to be racist. Okay, so

00:13:19.520 that's the problem. When you read the definition of racism, people say, yeah, okay, I reject that.

00:13:25.480 I'm not a racist. I don't think race is the primary determinant of a human being's worth. I don't think

00:13:31.820 that, therefore, we should have a politics based primarily on race. Okay, I'm done with that.

00:13:36.800 Now, the left actually does push race to the forefront when they're considering their politics,

00:13:42.460 but what they have to do to involve everybody in this issue of racism is redefine it. So now they're

00:13:46.880 redefining it as systemic oppression, meaning you can never not be a racist because you're in the

00:13:52.140 system. And as long as you're participating in the system, you're participating in racism,

00:13:55.880 you are an oppressor. This revision is said to be coming in the coming months,

00:14:01.460 though we don't have an exact date on it. That is the allegedly institutional oppression now becoming

00:14:09.980 the mainstream definition. Some Democrats are pushing back on this. Some reasonable Democrats

00:14:15.620 are pushing back, and they are not being treated very well by their own party. We'll get to that in

00:14:19.220 one second. First, though, got to thank our friends over at AncestryDNA. You might very well be familiar

00:14:26.300 with the major battles and events of World War II, but there are so many more stories to uncover there.

00:14:32.580 For instance, the skill and bravery of the Tuskegee Airmen, an all-African-American squad of fighter

00:14:39.140 pilots, the incredible women who trained to become pilots and mechanics, the Japanese-American

00:14:43.980 battalion that became one of America's most decorated units, despite, at that time, legal

00:14:48.800 discrimination against Japanese-Americans at home. Well, in honor of the 75th anniversary of the 1.00

00:14:53.580 end of World War II, Ancestry has released a U.S. draft card collection from World War II with over 36

00:14:59.200 million draft cards completed by fighting-age men in the U.S. across the country during that time,

00:15:04.100 whether they ended up serving or not. You know, a lot of us have grandparents, maybe for some of the

00:15:08.560 younger viewers, great-grandparents or parents, you know, for some of the older viewers who served

00:15:13.920 in World War II. My grandfather flew a B-24. He was a navigator on a B-24 airplane. You can uncover

00:15:20.760 all these kind of personal details with the U.S. draft card collection. It shows details like home

00:15:24.880 address, physical description. I love these guys. You know, I've used Ancestry since before the Daily

00:15:28.800 Wire existed as well. I still use them. They're just terrific. Discover your untold stories and

00:15:33.420 more. Head over to myurlancestry.com slash Knowles to start discovering your story today. That is

00:15:39.120 Ancestry.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S. Some Democrats are pushing back. There is a pro-Trump

00:15:48.040 Georgia Democrat by the name of Vernon Jones. And Vernon Jones, since he's come out and said,

00:15:55.780 yeah, I support Trump, he's gotten a lot of hate that's come his way. He has seen a little glimpse

00:16:01.960 of what happens if you are a Trump supporter in any of the major institutions, on campus,

00:16:08.500 around the water cooler, in the media, in Hollywood, anywhere, okay? Things don't go very well for you,

00:16:15.400 usually, in your career. So what Vernon Jones has suggested is that since we have all these other

00:16:21.980 protections for all these other characteristics of human beings, since we promote diversity in

00:16:26.860 every other way, maybe we should protect people's political viewpoints. Maybe we should protect

00:16:32.560 diversity of opinion, diversity of point of view. So he tweeted out, quote,

00:16:38.060 political affiliation should be a protected class right alongside race, gender, and religion.

00:16:44.420 And my legislation will do just that, making any politically motivated attack a hate crime.

00:16:49.720 Wearing a MAGA hat should never endanger your life. And yet, in many cases, it does. And in many

00:16:54.540 cases, you will be excluded from the major institutions. Big tech, right? Censors conservatives

00:17:00.040 way, way disproportionately. This, of course, makes sense. And yet, the left can't handle it.

00:17:06.940 Just on its face, it's so common sense, right? If you get a protection based on your sexual preferences

00:17:13.280 or your sexual behavior, shouldn't you get a protection based on your political point of view?

00:17:18.600 You know, your sexual behaviors are just more kind of basic passions of your body.

00:17:26.920 So if that's going to be protected, shouldn't your higher intellect be protected as well? If you're

00:17:31.500 going to be protected on the base of, you know, I don't know, your skin color or your sex or your

00:17:35.080 gender identity, whatever, shouldn't you also be protected at that higher level of the intellect,

00:17:40.340 things you're actually thinking through and choosing? You already are in some ways because of

00:17:44.600 religion. You are protected by your religious beliefs. So why not your political beliefs as

00:17:49.860 well? And yet, the left is going to push back hard on this. The left is going to push back hard

00:17:54.280 in some ways, I think, because their political beliefs very often are of a religious nature,

00:18:00.180 right? They've got original sin in the form of what they call white privilege or systemic racism,

00:18:07.320 right? They've got atonement in the form of taking a knee. I mean, that's quite visibly a liturgical sign

00:18:15.620 of kneeling down a religious ritual. They've got all sorts of religious characteristics to them,

00:18:22.820 right? They've got a utopia at the end, which is progressivism. We're progressing toward utopia.

00:18:28.460 And so what I think the reason is that they don't want to protect political affiliation here

00:18:32.800 is that they can't accept a challenge to their dominant political religious worldview.

00:18:40.020 It's just outrageous. You can, we can tolerate anything and are tolerant with a capital T

00:18:45.180 liberal culture, but you can't tolerate intolerance of liberalism, right? You can't

00:18:50.480 tolerate a challenge to the political system itself. So I think this guy Vernon Jones has a great idea

00:18:55.340 here. And I think any sane society would, if they're going to protect all those other things,

00:18:59.920 should certainly protect political points of view, but something tells me that they're not going to do

00:19:03.920 it. What Vernon has done here has gotten to the heart of that liberal problem. Meanwhile, talk about

00:19:09.700 the boogeymen, talk about the villains that we've had over the past few weeks, the cops, right? The

00:19:15.460 cops are being smeared by both parties, mostly by the Democrats, but also by some squishes as hopelessly 0.99

00:19:22.820 racist, bigoted, unjust, evil murderers. And we went through the numbers the other day. We said, 0.98

00:19:27.360 wait a second, the numbers don't hold up. We're being told there's this scourge of racist cops

00:19:32.060 hunting down unarmed black men in this country. Even though unarmed doesn't mean not dangerous. 1.00

00:19:37.000 Let's just use unarmed. How many unarmed black men are killed by the police every year? 9,000? No.

00:19:42.240 900? No. 90? No. Nine is the answer. Nine. Single digits. Every death's a tragedy, but that is not

00:19:47.960 evidence of a systemic scourge. And yet the cops are being smeared. So head of a police union came out

00:19:53.420 yesterday, addressed this issue and said, hey guys, enough is enough. I know in your fantasy land,

00:19:58.300 you need a villain, you need the devil. And that's currently being played by us,

00:20:01.740 but it just ain't reality.

00:20:03.320 375 million interactions with the public every year. 375 million interactions.

00:20:14.300 Overwhelmingly positive responses. Overwhelmingly positive responses.

00:20:21.000 But I read in the papers all week, we all read in the papers that in the black community,

00:20:27.400 mothers are worried about their children getting home from school without being killed by a cop.

00:20:36.100 What world are we living in? That doesn't happen. It does not happen. Everybody's trying to shame us.

00:20:43.460 The legislators, the press, everybody's trying to shame us into being embarrassed about our profession.

00:20:52.780 Well, you know what? This isn't stained by someone in Minneapolis. It's still got to shine on it.

00:21:00.660 And so do theirs. So do theirs. Stop treating us like animals and thugs and start treating us with

00:21:09.400 some respect. Great point. When he says this is not stained by someone in Minneapolis,

00:21:14.600 he's pointing to his badge. He says the same thing is true of their badges as well. He says,

00:21:18.820 we're being smeared as thugs by the press, by the legislators, by everybody. According to the left

00:21:25.820 wing fantasy, the evil cop, it basically, according to the left wing fantasy, the major institutions in 0.93

00:21:32.720 the United States are run by racist cops in the Ku Klux Klan. I think that's, that's the, the

00:21:37.440 fantastical, delusional worldview that the left is pushing. And yet what this cop is saying is,

00:21:45.100 guys, every institution in this country is smearing us undeservedly. We aren't doing

00:21:51.000 this sort of systemic awful stuff. 375 million interactions every year between cops and civilians.

00:21:58.240 How many go really wrong? You could count them on one hand practically. Okay. That's the reality of

00:22:06.820 the situation. And yet even the people smearing the cops, when you look at them, even the most left

00:22:11.260 wing hardened cynical politicians are relying on the cops themselves. They just don't want you to

00:22:17.960 be able to rely on the cops. When, when reality hits, when the thugs and the criminals show up at

00:22:21.980 their doors, they want to be protected. But you, you, you're just fodder for their social experiments 0.98

00:22:26.980 and their ideological games. We'll get into that in one second. First though, I have got to thank our

00:22:31.920 friends over at ring. Speaking of safety, speaking of people that maybe you don't want at your door

00:22:37.500 and knocking on your door. I'm not necessarily talking about criminals. I'm, it could be your

00:22:40.880 mother-in-law too. And then you get a knock on the door, you get a ring, you take a look, you say,

00:22:44.360 time to be quiet kids. Everyone hide out in the bedroom. Let's not let anyone know that we're here.

00:22:50.500 We're also home a lot more than usual these days. And it's hard to keep a close eye on things.

00:22:54.680 Even when you're home, right? More deliveries mean more boxes left unattended. And as has happened to

00:22:59.660 some friends of mine, more packages that go missing. A lot can happen outside of your front doors,

00:23:05.220 but we're not always free to check on things in person. That's why with ring, you have to keep

00:23:09.200 your home safe no matter where you are. You could be in the bedroom. You could be at the office. You

00:23:12.760 could be on a beach somewhere. Okay. The video doorbells let you answer the door and check in on

00:23:17.320 your home anytime. With outdoor security cameras, you can check on every part of your house. Smart

00:23:21.740 lighting brightens up blind spots, makes sure that you always come home to a brightly lit house.

00:23:43.360 slash Knowles. That is ring.com slash Knowles. So even the most ideological leftists who are

00:23:51.160 calling to abolish the police and all that sort of thing. One thing I noticed about them is they rely

00:23:55.380 on the police themselves. LA city council president, Nuri Martinez, a Democrat pushing to make huge cuts

00:24:04.260 to the LAPD. Now they're announcing could be a hundred million, could be 150 million cut from

00:24:09.100 the LAPD budget. Time for me to get out of Dodge. Decided that while she's defunding the LAPD for

00:24:16.740 everyone else, she's going to have an LAPD detail stationed outside of her private home. Not just

00:24:23.380 recently, not just in June, not just in May, going all the way back to April. Private security paid for

00:24:33.900 by the taxpayers for this woman who's then saying no one else should be able to get that security either. 0.58

00:24:40.120 That, that sums it up right there. Okay. You do have this one group, the cops, being totally maligned

00:24:49.340 here for things that they don't do for, for lies. And yet the people who really control the strings of

00:24:56.380 power, using them, using them not only for their own protection, but then using them as a prop to try

00:25:03.440 to hide the fact that they're the ones pulling the strings. Okay. And expect to see this in cities

00:25:09.260 around the country. It's becoming a real push now to defund the police. Don't forget, we played those

00:25:14.240 clips yesterday. Some Democrats are trying to say, oh, when we say defund the police or abolish the

00:25:18.460 police or dismantle the police, what we really mean is we want to reform the police. No. We heard from

00:25:26.300 those major politicians yesterday. Do you mean dismantle? Yes. Do you mean abolish? Yes. What does it

00:25:31.840 look like in the future? A police free future. What happens when you call 911? You're not going to call 911

00:25:36.660 because there's not going to be any cops. Okay. That's what they're telling you. And so what's

00:25:41.420 going to happen, ironically, they're talking about doing this in the name of equality. What's actually

00:25:44.560 going to happen is that elites like the LA city council president are going to get that private

00:25:48.600 police force for themselves and poor people who live in bad communities with lots of crime,

00:25:54.260 disproportionately ethnic minorities are going to be left to fend for themselves. Huge disparity then in

00:26:01.520 inequality, which then, by the way, the leftists who pushed all this can use and exploit and pretend

00:26:07.740 as evidence that there's institutional oppression that they're not controlling, but they're the ones

00:26:11.960 who did it in the first place. Guess what's happening since they're defunding the police?

00:26:15.240 Give you one hint. What happens when you tell the cops they can't do anything, you tie their hands

00:26:19.480 behind their backs, you defund them? Do you think crime is going to go down or do you think crime is

00:26:25.560 going to go up? I guess the ideologues tell us that if you get rid of the cops, crime is going to

00:26:29.260 disappear because somehow cops are responsible for crime. Well, the reality of the situation is a

00:26:34.060 little bit different. So just for the week of May 31st to June 6th, the right most recent data we've

00:26:41.620 got, homicides in LA increased, not 2%, not 25%, 250%. Victims being shot went up 56%. That's just week

00:26:57.380 over week. Just in the 24 hours from yesterday, Tuesday, to before that Monday, just that 24 hour

00:27:07.640 period, there were four shootings, one of those resulting in a homicide. Detectives are trying to

00:27:13.040 follow leads to ID and arrest suspects, but the detectives need people's help because their hands have

00:27:18.400 been tied behind their backs. That is like a little preview, a little amuse-bouche type of appetizer

00:27:25.760 of what's going to happen around the country when these cops are defunded. The reality of the

00:27:32.660 situation is going to be very different than the ideology and the left running the institutions

00:27:36.540 is going to use that, ironically, as reason to give them even more power. Now, some Democratic

00:27:44.780 politicians, it's not just that guy Vernon in Georgia, other Democrats are waking up and saying, 1.00

00:27:49.080 look what's happening to our neighborhoods because of your stupid ideas. That happened in Chicago too. 1.00

00:27:53.660 We got leaked audio of a very hostile conversation between an alderman in Chicago and the mayor of

00:28:00.540 Chicago. They don't talk very politely when they think that they're off the record. We'll get to

00:28:05.220 that. We'll get to rioters overtaking Seattle. We'll get to rioters in Richmond pulling down a statue of

00:28:10.560 Christopher Columbus. What did Christopher Columbus have to do with any of this? I don't know. They just

00:28:13.700 hate his guts. We'll get to all of that. But first, I've got to thank you. I've got to thank you

00:28:19.600 for pushing my total subscribers on YouTube past Drew Klavens because that's what we're all here

00:28:25.560 for, folks. That's what this is really all about. So thank you very much. You know, we put some bonus

00:28:28.700 content over on the YouTube channel. I have an exclusive interview with a pal of mine, Tim Gordon,

00:28:32.900 a Catholic author and podcaster who was just fired from a Catholic school because he opposed the radical

00:28:39.200 leftist aims of Black Lives Matter. He dared to criticize them. Even a Catholic school, an allegedly

00:28:45.100 conservative institution now dominated by the left. Also, you know how crazy this year has been

00:28:51.640 already. And it's just the start of the year, okay? We've got still five months before the

00:28:55.460 presidential election and the media are the ones pushing this. So if you don't think that you can

00:29:01.500 rely on the mainstream media to get a reliable source of news, which I'm glad you're awake. I'm

00:29:07.620 glad you figured that one out. Then head on over to the Daily Wire. You know, we've got some

00:29:11.400 exclusive in-depth content that is only for members. We've got a reader's pass that's already

00:29:16.200 super cheap. It's three bucks a month. But now, just for you, we are going to cut that down by

00:29:21.220 two-thirds. For your first month, you get it for just 99 cents. You'll get push notifications for

00:29:26.300 breaking news and special content, access to our mobile app, and the community of Daily Wire members

00:29:30.340 who are actively commenting and discussing the content with each other. So head on over to

00:29:34.560 dailywire.com slash subscribe and join. Today, we'll be right back with a whole lot more.

00:29:41.400 Even Chicago aldermans, okay? These are the guys who are kind of like the city council. They're

00:29:57.260 running the government in Chicago, notoriously left-wing city for a very long time. Even they

00:30:03.960 are beginning to realize that this is not working out terribly well. We have leaked audio of an alderman

00:30:10.020 speaking to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot saying, hey, over the past few weeks, it's even crazier

00:30:15.540 than usual in Chicago. Our neighborhoods are burning down and you're not doing anything about

00:30:18.900 it. You know what Lori Lightfoot had to say to him? No thanks, don't care.

00:30:22.680 Well, no, I want an answer. You commented on everybody. I want an answer. It's not something

00:30:29.780 you ignore. This is a question that I have. I think you're 100% full of

00:30:35.300 is what I think. If you think- No offense to that. Hold on.

00:30:40.820 Who are you to tell me I'm full of ? If you think- If you think we were not ready and we

00:30:46.420 stood by and let the neighborhood go up, there's nothing intelligent that I can say to you.

00:30:50.660 Well, maybe you should come out and see what's going on. 1.00

00:30:52.820 This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I understand you want to preach. I understand 1.00

00:30:59.220 that you think that you- Mayor, you need to check your

00:31:01.860 attitude. That's what you need to do. I love these guys. I really like this alderman too.

00:31:08.020 I mean, they're a little more polite when they know that the cameras are on,

00:31:12.180 but they're really going at each other. Because even this alderman says, wait a second,

00:31:15.060 this city, which has been run by Democrats forever since the prehistoric times is a trash 0.95

00:31:25.140 heap of crime, right? This city on a good day has crazy crime in it, right? On a good day, 0.97

00:31:32.020 more people are being shot and killed in Chicago over a weekend than any number of unarmed black

00:31:37.060 men killed by police in a whole year, right? And yet you're only focusing on this one issue and

00:31:41.220 you're letting our neighborhoods go up in flames. And the mayor says, yeah,

00:31:44.660 I don't care. I don't care because it actually serves their ends. I know there's this hope among

00:31:50.180 conservatives where we say, gosh, these leftist policies are so bad that hopefully people will

00:31:55.140 just totally wake up and they'll realize they're really bad policies and they'll flip them.

00:31:59.620 I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't think that's what has already happened.

00:32:03.300 If that were true, Chicago would have woken up by now and elected Republicans, but they aren't doing

00:32:08.820 that because the chaos and the violence and the madness actually serves to reinforce the left-wing

00:32:17.380 control of the institutions. Look what's happened in Seattle. Seattle is a left-wing city, okay?

00:32:24.500 And yet the rioters are getting really, really intense there. Seattle is a hotbed of Antifa,

00:32:29.380 you know, the anti-fascist allegedly, another term for communist or anarchist lunatics and violent 0.97

00:32:36.260 lunatics who are going out terrorizing people. The rioters in Seattle broke into and took over 0.95

00:32:43.780 City Hall. Take a listen to them.

00:32:45.540 You're about to lose your job!

00:32:48.260 You're about to lose your job!

00:32:52.580 You're about to lose your job!

00:32:55.700 You're about to lose your job!

00:32:57.780 So they've taken over there and they're yelling this at the mayor, liberal mayor, you're about to

00:33:03.860 lose your job. One thing that these guys also chant a lot is, this is what democracy looks like. You

00:33:10.580 hear that, this is what democracy looks like. A really dark view is, gosh, maybe that is what

00:33:16.820 democracy looks like. If so, not a great recommendation of democracy. But I think the

00:33:20.900 more reasonable view is, that's not what democracy looks like. Democracy looks like showing up to vote

00:33:27.620 and being a responsible citizen and taking care of yourself and trying to live a virtuous life.

00:33:32.660 Mobs taking over and trying to occupy whole territories and throw people out and tar and 1.00

00:33:38.500 feather them. That's not democracy. That's a mob. And that kind of unrest is taken as evidence that

00:33:46.580 the Democrats should keep controlling things. Antifa has taken over whole parts of that city.

00:33:52.100 There's a place now around Seattle called the CHAZ, the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. There's an

00:33:59.300 area where these far-left protesters, peaceful protesters, also known as rioters and anarchists

00:34:05.060 and communists, have taken over an area and they've declared it their own zone. And the thing here is,

00:34:12.500 people look at that and they say, wow, this is so kooky and crazy. Whatever, though, it's just a

00:34:16.900 sideshow. It'll go away. It doesn't actually pose a threat. But it does. Okay, in every revolution that's

00:34:23.940 ever taken place, every successful insurrection, the establishment has looked at the first stages of 0.62

00:34:30.420 that and said, oh, that's silly. That'll be put down. It's no big deal. We could easily put down these

00:34:35.380 insurrections, except we are being told to have no faith in the police department, that the police shouldn't

00:34:41.620 be able to do anything and not use any force. We are being told that the so-called peaceful

00:34:46.100 protesters, also known as rioters, also known as, in some ways, political terrorists, defended by

00:34:52.020 Chris Cuomo and CNN, have the right idea, the right premises, they're in the right. We're being told all of

00:34:57.700 these things. That's how you get a little crazy, violent event turning into Antifa anarchists taking

00:35:05.540 over a whole region. Okay? They're not even just attacking the present. That is happening.

00:35:10.660 They're attacking the past. So in Richmond, last night, a statue of Christopher Columbus was ripped

00:35:16.260 down and thrown in a lake. I think this should be the final straw to show you this is not about black 1.00

00:35:23.780 lives mattering. Okay? This is about a radical, dishonest organization called Black Lives Matter that 0.97

00:35:28.900 has nothing to do with Black Lives Mattering. What does Christopher Columbus have to do with Black Lives 0.99

00:35:33.460 matter? Christopher Columbus, whatever ills you want to throw on this guy, whatever evils you want

00:35:38.900 to accuse him of, real or imagined, he didn't have anything to do with Black people. He came over 0.81

00:35:44.740 from, well, first Italy, then he went to Portugal, then he went to Spain, then he sailed over to the

00:35:49.000 New World. Any things that you want to accuse him of doing, terrible, awful things, he did against

00:35:54.580 the Native Americans. It's not like he was the chief of colonialism in Africa or something, and yet

00:36:00.200 he is being attacked here as well. Because this is not about black lives mattering. This is about an 1.00

00:36:05.200 attack on the fundamental traditions and institutions of the West. Hollowing out, the left goes in and

00:36:12.600 invades these institutions, pretends that it's not controlling them, hollows them out from within.

00:36:19.080 Christopher Columbus founded the New World. In many ways, he is the forefather of our modern

00:36:23.860 civilization. So they've got to attack him. They've got, if you want to have a radical progressive

00:36:30.120 vision, then you've got to radically attack the past. You've got to leave it so there's nothing

00:36:33.660 left to conserve. So all you can do is move into that wonderful utopian future. And that's what they're

00:36:39.480 doing there. Expect more attacks, not just on Robert E. Lee, not just on Christopher Columbus, on

00:36:47.300 George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. You're already beginning to see it. And another thing you're

00:36:51.720 seeing is people afraid to fly the American flag in their home. Four homes in the Sun Garden

00:36:57.900 neighborhood of Citrus Heights, California, were targeted early Saturday morning because they were

00:37:03.000 flying the American flag. And they were targeted by these peaceful protesters, who are actually just

00:37:08.880 rioters who hate this country. And they were targeted for supporting the symbol of our country.

00:37:14.260 I got to tell you something. When the riots were moving through my neighborhood in LA, I fly an

00:37:18.220 American flag in the back of my car. I just across the back windshield, I've got an American flag

00:37:21.880 lying down, you know, on the top of the seat. I had this thought. I said, gosh, I'm going to leave

00:37:26.480 the car there. They're torching cars all over the place. Should I take the flag inside? Should I put it

00:37:30.840 in the trunk or something? I said, no, I'm not going to do that. If we've gotten to the point in this

00:37:35.960 country where I've got to hide the American flag in a nice neighborhood in California, then the

00:37:40.400 country's lost. Let them bash my windshield. I'm not going to do that. I'll go get my windshield

00:37:45.920 fix with dignity rather than be ashamed of my country or something like that. It would make me

00:37:50.480 no better than the cowards who are kowtowing to this radical movement. But it's a thought. And that's 0.93

00:37:56.300 the point of all of this. It's the point of political correctness. That's the point of the

00:38:00.980 leftist social movements, is to make you think twice, make you second guess. Just to be safe, maybe I

00:38:06.580 shouldn't fly this flag. Just to be safe, maybe I shouldn't say that Christopher Columbus was a good

00:38:10.820 guy. It's just easier for me to kowtow to these radical leftist bullies. Okay, and that's how they 0.94

00:38:19.820 win. Because even if they don't get it right off the top, even if they don't get all of their aims

00:38:25.260 right off the top, that's how they win. There are guidelines that were released by West Hollywood.

00:38:31.060 Guidelines for white people. This was pushed by government officials. I don't know who wrote it,

00:38:38.460 but it was at least promoted by government officials. Guidelines for white people showing

00:38:41.980 up at black-led and people-of-color-led protests. First, this is a black issue. The call needs to 0.94

00:38:49.200 be black lives matter, not all lives matter. So right off the top, they say, white people, 0.96

00:38:52.800 you don't matter. You're bad. Only black lives matter. Not you. Not other people. Just you. Just 1.00

00:38:59.040 black lives. Sometimes the best way to ensure that all lives matter is to give black people room to own 0.99

00:39:03.880 space. Meaning, meaning, hey, let's push for segregation. That's the, that's apparently

00:39:08.940 progressive now. I didn't think that was progressive, but it is. Protests from our position.

00:39:14.140 For example, don't join in chants that say, whose streets? Our streets. I kid you not. These streets

00:39:21.180 are not our streets. White people in West Hollywood, by the way, a very, very white neighborhood,

00:39:27.560 are not allowed to say, these are our streets. White people have no ownership or citizenship at 0.99

00:39:34.880 all over any streets. They are only run by black people, according to this silly document being 1.00

00:39:40.820 promoted. I don't know about, what about Hispanic people? Do they not, they don't have any ownership 1.00

00:39:44.300 of the streets either? No. Call in and collect white folks who are causing harm. Reign in those 1.00

00:39:50.140 fellow white people. Do not start chants. Do not grab the microphone. Do not speak. Shut up 0.90

00:39:55.120 on the basis of your race. I mean, this is disgusting stuff. The way you know it's disgusting 1.00

00:40:00.220 is even the modern culture would call it disgusting if you just replaced the word white with black and 0.50

00:40:04.940 black with white. And they'd say, don't, this is a white issue. It's gotta be white lives matter, 0.76

00:40:10.320 not all lives matter. Give white people room to own a space. Don't, don't allow black people to 1.00

00:40:15.200 chant whose streets are streets. They're not your streets. I mean, this is stuff we'd say is disgusting 0.99

00:40:18.300 if, if it were flipped. And yet this is the kind of stuff being pushed by not just influential

00:40:24.460 non-profits, but government leaders too. Who really owns these institutions? Whose streets

00:40:29.480 are they really? I don't think it's a racial question at all. I think it's an ideological

00:40:32.400 question. And the streets are liberal, leftist, progressive, radical, all those sorts of things.

00:40:41.160 You've got to, I think this is a point that we've got to show. And getting back to who owns the

00:40:45.460 institutions, look, the right owns talk radio, right? The left has tried to get into talk radio and

00:40:50.920 they're no good at it. The right does own it, but this creates a problem because we can, we can talk

00:40:58.140 about this kind of hypocrisy. We can talk about this kind of radicalism, this awful stuff until

00:41:02.360 we're blue in the face. But so long as the only institution that the right owns is talking, then

00:41:08.600 all we can do is talk. You've heard some calls in recent days. They say, ah, gosh, enough with the

00:41:13.120 talking guys, do something. We'd like to do something, but we don't have any institutional power.

00:41:17.180 We've allowed the left to dominate all of that institutional power. And you can't just talk

00:41:21.200 your way back into that. Not overnight, not right away. But we need that power. We need to be able

00:41:26.380 to do something. Because while we talk and we talk ourselves hoarse, the left is still running those

00:41:32.800 institutions. Ironically, the very institutions that they pretend are being run by the awful,

00:41:37.740 oppressive, terrible, no good, dirty, rotten conservatives. Speaking of institutions that have 0.99

00:41:42.340 been manipulated, even public health is this way. You remember yesterday, we talked about how the,

00:41:46.960 the World Health Organization is now saying that asymptomatic people can barely spread the virus,

00:41:53.640 even after they had all said that asymptomatic people do spread the virus. You know, they keep 1.00

00:41:58.060 changing their minds. Masks are bad. Masks are good. The virus is spread on surfaces. The virus is not

00:42:03.400 spread on surfaces. So now the WHO has flipped again, even in just 24 hours. They're now walking back

00:42:08.720 their claim that asymptomatic transmission is very rare. Based on what? Couldn't possibly tell you. I have

00:42:14.640 absolutely no idea. That's the first one. Second one. Remember, we were told the virus had started

00:42:20.920 in January. It didn't start before January. Don't say it started before January. Come on. China's 1.00

00:42:25.400 telling the truth. WHO is telling the truth. Then we found out it was December. Then we found out it

00:42:29.120 was November. Then we found out it might've been as early as October. Now we've got a non-peer-reviewed,

00:42:33.820 yet, Harvard Medical School study showing that coronavirus may have appeared in Wuhan

00:42:38.200 as early as late August of last year, late August. So that one totally changed again. And then,

00:42:46.800 and then this is the pièce de résistance, the riots, the peaceful riots that had been going on

00:42:53.620 for the last week or two, forced the closure of 70 coronavirus testing sites, at least. They just

00:43:00.900 had to shut down because there was chaos going around. We were told by the left, by the public

00:43:06.020 health institutions that the most important thing is testing. Everyone's got to get tested. Why? I

00:43:11.300 couldn't possibly tell you, but they all got to get tested. Trump's not testing enough. Trump's

00:43:16.020 killing people because they're not testing enough. And then the protesters come through for left-wing 0.95

00:43:22.140 causes and the rioters and the arsonists and the looters. And all of a sudden the testing doesn't

00:43:26.480 matter at all. It doesn't matter at all. They changed their mind. They have no regard for the truth

00:43:31.020 here. They only have regard for the ideology that they're pushing, which by the way is very different

00:43:35.520 from the truth. Before we get out of here, I've got to get to the dumbest article on the internet 0.97

00:43:42.620 today. This one goes to Susan Rice, former national security advisor for Barack Obama and well-known 0.97

00:43:48.240 liar about the Benghazi attack. Susan Rice in the New York Times, which still exists, they almost fell

00:43:55.040 apart because that dirty, rotten Tom Cotton, Republican Senator, published an op-ed a few days ago. And that 0.85

00:44:00.920 truly tore the newspaper apart, almost destroyed it. But they're still back. Contributing opinion piece

00:44:07.400 from Susan Rice called Washington DC deserves statehood. This place does not deserve statehood.

00:44:14.000 I am in Washington DC right now. The whole purpose of Washington DC, the District of Columbia, is that

00:44:19.300 it should not be a state. The whole reason it was created is so that the federal government is not

00:44:24.640 owned by a single state. We need a place for the federal government. The federal government's different

00:44:29.380 than state governments. The federal government needs its own space that is different from state

00:44:34.660 government. That's how the balance of power works. If you give DC a state, you've completely upset that.

00:44:42.140 They say, Washington is the only national capital in the democratic world whose citizens lack equal

00:44:46.460 voting rights. Yeah, right. People aren't supposed to live in DC. It's supposed to be a federal district.

00:44:50.960 People can live out in Virginia or they can live in Maryland. They can move. If you choose to live in

00:44:55.320 DC, that's going to come with certain costs because DC is not a state. By the way, since when do we

00:45:00.960 follow the rest of the democratic world? The rest of the democratic world follows us. We're the leaders

00:45:05.960 in it. We lack any senators or voting representative in the House of Representatives. Yes, that's true.

00:45:12.340 By design. The real reasons for opposition are racism and political interests, she writes.

00:45:18.600 Nope, it's just design. That's the real reason, is federalism.

00:45:23.300 Why does this injustice persist into the 21st century? Because it was set up for a reason

00:45:28.420 when it was set up, before the 21st century. And those reasons haven't gone away over time.

00:45:33.800 Okay. Now, really, before we go, there is one thing I've got to get to. I got an email yesterday

00:45:39.180 from factcheck.org asking me if I had spread fake news. Seriously. Because, you know, we have our

00:45:46.860 thumbnails every day on YouTube and they're these kind of crazy designs. We have an artist who draws them

00:45:51.020 up every single day. And they're always really wild. One of them recently, apparently, went around

00:45:56.560 the internet as fake news. And it was an image of a ridiculously defaced Abraham Lincoln memorial.

00:46:02.960 And it's like part of his head was chopped off and there was spray paint. I didn't think it looked

00:46:07.060 real. But apparently, some people sent it around and said, this is being defaced. This is fake news.

00:46:11.740 So I get this email from factcheck.org, which is a left-leaning institution, like so many institutions.

00:46:17.220 I said, were you spreading fake news? Are you guys responsible for this? And yes, of course,

00:46:21.160 our artists drew up this thumbnail as they draw up thumbnails every single day.

00:46:26.460 So just to give you a little bit of context, though, I want to go through a few of the other

00:46:31.340 thumbnails we've drawn up and just assuage your fears and let you know that those are not real

00:46:35.840 either. So what else do we have in recent days? We've got the Lincoln one. We've got the Statue of

00:46:41.240 Liberty kneeling on top of a bunch of protesters, taking a knee. So I want you to know that actually

00:46:48.560 the copper statue given to us hundreds of years ago by France did not suddenly come to life and

00:46:55.320 does not now have bendable knees and things like that. That is an artistic fictional image. What else

00:47:01.520 do we have? We've got President Trump as Hercules with a ripped, ripped Greek god body,

00:47:08.960 wrestling a bull by the horns with the face of the Twitter logo. That didn't really happen.

00:47:14.940 Okay, that's not really Donald Trump and the Twitter logo is not a bull. Then we've got two

00:47:21.960 Karens. They're Karens with the Karen haircut, you know, and a little dog in a mask standing staring at

00:47:27.180 you. That's not a photograph. That was drawn up by an artist. We've got Dr. Fauci shaking hands with

00:47:33.220 Satan himself. You can see his pulsating red devil hand there. Dr. Fauci, at least to my knowledge,

00:47:40.220 has never literally shaken hands with the devil. Metaphorically, I don't know, I can't speak to

00:47:45.080 that, but literally has not shaken hands with the devil. President Trump dancing around as money

00:47:53.100 falls from the sky. This very possibly did literally happen, but I am telling you that

00:47:57.680 that image at least was drawn by one of our artists. This one's my favorite.

00:48:04.920 President Trump dancing at a beach shirtless. We ought to talk to my artists. There's a lot of

00:48:09.520 shirtless Trump in these images. Maybe there's some Freudian thing. I don't know. A shirtless ripped

00:48:15.560 pecs, you know, six pack abs in a bathing suit dancing in front of the protesters at the beach who

00:48:21.080 are saying, stay inside and wash your hands. This is not Donald Trump's body. Everyone knows that is

00:48:26.000 my body that we photoshopped President Trump's head on to. So don't confuse that with fake news.

00:48:32.280 Anything else? Yes. Bernie Sanders wearing a fur coat, holding up a skull like Hamlet with a hammer

00:48:41.260 and sickle emblazoned on the skull. That is not the skull of Karl Marx or Vladimir Lenin. Bernie Sanders

00:48:47.960 is not the prince of Denmark. Though I often hear him talk about how Denmark is a socialist country.

00:48:53.120 That also, it is not a socialist country and Bernie Sanders is not Hamlet. This one could be real and

00:49:00.220 I think a lot of people want it to be real, but it's not real. Donald Trump in a WWE ring body

00:49:06.900 slamming a very sad looking Mitt Romney. That did not happen in the physical world. It did happen

00:49:14.760 politically, symbolically, metaphorically, but it did not happen in the physical world and so that is

00:49:19.440 not a photograph. I hope this clears up. Fake news? I don't want to be accused of spreading any more

00:49:24.820 fake news by factcheck.org. So keep that in mind when you talk about the photos of Dr. Fauci shaking

00:49:31.220 hands with the devil or President Trump literally body slamming Mitt Romney. Those are artistic

00:49:36.700 creations. I hope you've enjoyed the thumbnails and I hope that we haven't confused anybody any further.
