The Michael Knowles Show - Ep. 574 - Rewrite The Past, Control The Future

00:00:00.000 George Washington was the most distinguished of any man living and the greatest character of his

00:00:07.820 age. That is how Washington was described by his former enemy, King George III. That's right,

00:00:16.600 George III had great respect for Washington, but a bunch of blue-haired woke leftists today in

00:00:22.180 America do not. They have no respect for the father of their country, nor have they respect

00:00:27.120 for the descendants of the father of that country, or the whole country itself. They are rewriting 0.58

00:00:33.300 the past. And the fact is, when you rewrite the past, you control the future. Fortunately,

00:00:39.160 President Trump gets that, and he just gave us a history lesson at Mount Rushmore for the ages.

00:00:45.540 I'm Michael Knowles. This is The Michael Knowles Show.

00:00:47.300 Welcome back to The Michael Knowles Show. President Trump talked about the new monuments. He talked

00:01:00.400 about the old monuments. He talked about the whole point of the monuments at this Mount Rushmore

00:01:05.200 speech. The speech was absolutely magnificent. He did a great job. He opens up on the actual problem

00:01:14.980 because people are looking around right now at the country and they say, what is the problem? Is it

00:01:18.540 race? Is it sex? Is it the economy? Is it certain political rights? And what Trump saw is that the

00:01:24.580 problem is one of history, how we understand our history, how our history is taught. The fact is

00:01:33.580 the future of our country lies in the way we look at the past. And what he sees right now is an

00:01:39.500 encroaching politically correct leftist fascism that is going to destroy our national foundation.

00:01:47.840 In our schools, our newsrooms, even our corporate boardrooms, there is a new far left fascism that

00:01:57.060 demands absolute allegiance. If you do not speak its language, perform its rituals, recite its mantras,

00:02:07.260 and follow its commandments, then you will be censored, banished, blacklisted, persecuted,

00:02:15.600 and punished. It's not going to happen to us.

00:02:22.500 Not going to happen to us. No, it's not because we're standing back, but there are a lot of incentives

00:02:27.100 here for us to give in. So you have this issue of the rewriting of the history. How is that enforced?

00:02:33.240 It's enforced because the left owns every institution of the culture. We talked about

00:02:37.900 this a couple of weeks ago. The left talks about institutional racism. Well, they own all the

00:02:41.720 institutions, the media, the educational apparatus, Hollywood, big tech, the list goes on and on,

00:02:47.040 corporate America. And if you don't recite its politically correct orthodoxies, you'll lose your

00:02:52.860 job. You'll get deplatformed. You will lose your livelihood. You'll lose your reputation. You'll be

00:02:56.440 kicked out of school. It, it never ends. So how do we stop it? What president Trump pointed out at this

00:03:04.180 excellent speech at Mount Rushmore is that all of this is the predictable result of years and years

00:03:11.460 and decades of indoctrination lies about our past through the mainstream media and through the schools.

00:03:18.900 So what does president Trump think we have to do instead of just complaining about this, which is

00:03:25.440 good. There's an effect to that. What he did, he used this opportunity, this historic speech at Mount

00:03:30.420 Rushmore to give a simple history lesson about our founders. The radical view of American history

00:03:39.240 is a web of lies. All perspective is removed. Every virtue is obscured. Every motive is twisted.

00:03:52.040 Every fact is distorted. And every flaw is magnified until the history is purged and the record is

00:04:00.620 disfigured beyond all recognition. This movement is openly attacking the legacies of every person 0.96

00:04:10.240 on Mount Rushmore. They defile the memory of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt.

00:04:19.860 Today, we will set history and history's records straight.

00:04:25.720 And that's what he did. Trump just went on and he talked about the actual history of Washington,

00:04:32.200 of Jefferson, of Teddy Roosevelt, of Abraham Lincoln. It, it was pitch perfect. I thought

00:04:38.540 the speech was magnificent. Whoever wrote it did a spectacular job and Trump in delivering it

00:04:43.920 did a spectacular job. You know, it goes back so much further than we're willing to admit. We'll say,

00:04:48.800 okay, somewhere around 2015, 2014, that's when the campuses went crazy. That's when history started

00:04:54.500 to go crazy. That's when you had the shrieking girl at Yale. That's all these kinds of incidents

00:04:58.300 that were so, so viral. It goes back much further. There was a study that came out of ISI,

00:05:04.640 the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. I think in 2007, it was 07 or 08. The study was of graduating

00:05:12.900 seniors at elite schools, you know, all the big brand name schools and what they knew about their

00:05:18.580 history, their civics and their politics in America. What it found was, I kid you not,

00:05:24.680 seniors graduating from these schools, they've just spent tens of thousands of dollars, hundreds

00:05:29.080 of thousands of dollars on an education, knew less about their country's history and politics and

00:05:35.580 government than incoming freshmen. They had gotten more ignorant over time. Their own country and our 0.98

00:05:43.720 understanding of it had been completely distorted while they were in school. And that of course is

00:05:49.160 what we're seeing just anecdotally, anecdotally and as a matter of data. So Trump gives this great

00:05:55.120 history lesson. That was terrific. Now as a practical matter of politics, what is he going to do? Two

00:06:00.400 things. He's going to do two things to stop the carnage, the, the statue toppling, the mayhem in our

00:06:06.460 country. And each of those is very important. One practical in the short term, one very important in the

00:06:12.300 long term. We'll get to that in one second. First, I got to thank our friends over at BlinkSale.

00:07:23.380 doing what you love. Trump announces he's got two things he's going to do to stop the mayhem. First one,

00:07:31.320 already happening. They're going to start arresting all of the people toppling our statues.

00:07:38.420 I am pleased to report that yesterday federal agents arrested the suspected ringleader of the

00:07:46.080 attack on the statue of the great Andrew Jackson in Washington, D.C.

00:07:52.080 And in addition, hundreds more have been arrested.

00:08:02.580 Under the executive order I signed last week pertaining to the Veterans Memorial Preservation

00:08:09.140 and Recognition Act and other laws, people who damage or deface federal statues or monuments

00:08:17.440 will get a minimum of 10 years in prison. Oh, I love that, baby. That is some good news to me.

00:08:27.500 Why? Why? Is it just because I want these kind of crazy blue haired anarchists to go to jail? 0.99

00:08:34.280 Yes, that's part of it. I do want that. I think that is good. It is better for the individuals and 0.98

00:08:38.940 it is better for society. It is better for these individuals that they be locked up behind bars

00:08:44.480 than that they continue to degrade themselves and the society around them by knocking down statues

00:08:49.600 and smashing people's property and harming people. That is a good thing. But we also need to show

00:08:55.140 the precedent. We need, we need this to work as a deterrent, which is if you knock down federal

00:09:01.080 statues, you're going to go to jail for a long, long time. Three aspects of criminal justice that

00:09:07.780 are important. The first one, the most important one is retribution. The most important one is punishing

00:09:14.000 people just because they've done something wrong. It's called justice for a reason. Everyone

00:09:17.760 forgets about that one, but it's very important. That's the justice. The second one is the deterrent

00:09:23.060 factor. We need to deter people from smashing up our whole country. The reason the riots grew and grew

00:09:28.260 is because nobody did anything about them. And so eventually it just took over the whole country.

00:09:33.020 If people did something about it from the beginning and said, no, sorry, I don't care what stupid 1.00

00:09:37.280 social justice BS you're spewing. You don't actually get to burn down the whole country. Then the riots 1.00

00:09:42.480 wouldn't have happened better late than never though. And then the third one is rehabilitation.

00:09:47.000 These people are doing bad things. They're perverts. They have a very wrongheaded view of 0.99

00:09:51.520 the world and their own country and themselves. They need to go away for a little while and get

00:09:55.540 the right view of it. So I think this is wonderful, extraordinarily important that Trump is doing

00:10:00.260 it, but that's not enough. It's not just enough to lock up these anarchists. What you need to do

00:10:05.360 is look ahead to the future. We've knocked down our statues. A lot of statues have fallen down over

00:10:11.100 the last few weeks and an almost incalculable number when you consider everywhere that this has been

00:10:17.040 taking place. So what's Trump going to do? Exactly the right answer. He's going to build them back up.

00:10:24.460 Today, under the authority vested in me as president of the United States,

00:10:30.240 I am announcing the creation of a new monument to the giants of our past. I am signing an executive

00:10:45.500 order to establish the National Guard of American heroes, a vast outdoor park that will feature the

00:10:55.460 statues of the greatest Americans to ever live. Yes, I love this. And in very Trump fashion,

00:11:03.980 it's not just that he's going to build up like one statue of Christopher Columbus or one statue of

00:11:09.320 whoever, Washington. He's going to build a giant new park with lots and lots of statues. We have the

00:11:14.680 list so far of the statues. The National Garden will include statues of John Adams. Great. Susan B.

00:11:21.420 Anthony. Pretty good. That'll irk the, the pro-abortion people because Susan B. Anthony was

00:11:25.400 pro-life. Clara Barton. I don't know who that is. Daniel Boone. Great. Joshua Chamberlain. I think he

00:11:30.840 might be a basketball player. Either way, that's great. Henry Clay. Great. Davy Crockett,

00:11:34.700 Frederick, David Crockett, Frederick Douglass, Amelia Earhart, Benjamin Franklin, Billy Graham,

00:11:40.760 Alexander Hamilton. I just watched that musical over the weekend. Maybe we'll get to that a little bit

00:11:44.340 later. Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Doug MacArthur, Dolly Madison,

00:11:49.280 James Madison. This is just a great list, right? George S. Patton, old blood and guts himself.

00:11:54.360 Terrific. Ronald Reagan. Love that. Jackie Robinson. Oh yeah. Betsy Ross, even though her flag is now

00:12:00.360 racist, according to Colin Kaepernick, who will also come to because he admitted that his whole

00:12:04.400 kneeling thing was a lie from the beginning because he just hates his country. Has nothing to do with

00:12:08.320 police brutality. Antonin Scalia. Love that. Harriet Beecher Stowe, Harriet Tubman, Booker Washington,

00:12:13.560 who doesn't get nearly enough respect. I'll be talking about him on my Prager U book club show coming up.

00:12:18.180 George Washington and the Wright brothers. Okay. This is very good. My only issue here is, I mean,

00:12:27.020 I love all of this. I think we should build up all of these statues. That's terrific. The one thing

00:12:30.520 about this executive order though, is it, it will not rebuild any of the Confederate statues that have

00:12:35.980 been smashed. I come from a long line of Northerners. Nobody in my family tree ever held slaves. They fought

00:12:43.020 for the Union. George Cobb Knowles died at the Battle of Boynton Plank Road. Okay. I have no particular

00:12:50.020 familial love of the Confederacy or anything like that. And I don't have any, uh, long standing

00:12:55.920 ancestral history to the South, but we should build up those Confederate monuments again. We should.

00:13:02.540 When, when the civil war was over, Abraham Lincoln said, malice toward non charity for all.

00:13:07.940 Well, the, the Confederate dead are treated as American citizens. Okay. They were entitled to

00:13:14.900 certain war benefits from the federal government. General Lee had his citizenship reinstated.

00:13:22.800 The, the point of that, right? We fight this bloody civil war over this question of slavery,

00:13:27.140 the North wins, and then we have to come back together as a country. The civil war didn't split

00:13:30.660 the country apart completely. We ultimately rejoined together. By not rebuilding those Confederate 0.58

00:13:36.920 monuments, what you're saying to the rioters and the anarchists is, okay, you were sort of right.

00:13:43.360 You were sort of right. You're right. We shouldn't, those guys were bad. It's, it's probably for the

00:13:47.500 best that their statues are down. I hate Robert E. Lee. You're such a much better person, blue haired

00:13:52.420 anarchist than Robert E. Lee. And, and that just isn't the case. It's a bad message to send. It gives up

00:13:58.640 a little too much. It gives up the premises. I understand it would be, it would be politically

00:14:02.980 difficult to put up some statues of Robert E. Lee, but I do fear that by not doing that,

00:14:09.480 you are giving in a little bit. And ultimately they're just going to come back for George

00:14:13.660 Washington, even once this national garden is created. Though I will say the national garden,

00:14:17.800 a great, a great first step. And Trump ends on a hopeful note. The hopeful note is the best

00:14:24.220 is yet to come. That's actually the line he said, the best is yet to come. Sunny optimism,

00:14:28.840 very much like Ronald Reagan, good stuff. How do you think the media covered the Mount Rushmore

00:14:33.960 speech? Did they talk about all the sunny optimism in the future and how great everything's going to

00:14:37.800 be and how our country was good from the beginning and it's going to be good in the future?

00:14:41.680 No, not quite. We'll get into the dark and divisive media coverage, but first I want to thank our

00:14:47.260 friends over at Quip. You know Quip. It's very important to take care of your teeth. It's very

00:14:53.620 important to have a proper toothbrush to do that. The Quip electric toothbrush has timed sonic

00:15:06.080 There's even a size down version, which is designed for kids. This is very important to

00:15:10.400 have an electric toothbrush. I used to use an old toothbrush that wasn't electric. It's basically

00:15:14.760 like rubbing a stick on your teeth. Okay. You just don't get as good a clean. Paired with Quip's

00:16:03.260 Quip, the good habits company. How do you think the media covered this? Oh, it was very bad. The New

00:16:09.720 York Times says that Trump's speech was dark and divisive at Mount Rushmore, leaning into culture wars

00:16:15.260 and barely mentioning the pandemic. Can you believe that in a speech that had nothing to do with the

00:16:19.620 pandemic at Mount Rushmore right before the 4th of July? He didn't mention the pandemic that we're

00:16:23.820 trying to push. He didn't mention our narrative. He didn't play into it. CNN called it dark and

00:16:30.880 divisive and, and they, obviously nothing in the text of the speech was dark or divisive. It just

00:16:34.640 talked about how great our history was, how great those men were, how great we are and how great we

00:16:38.620 can be in the future because the best is yet to come. So they had to look at the site. They said the

00:16:42.560 very fact that they're at Mount Rushmore is evidence of how dark and evil and racist and 0.98

00:16:48.340 bigoted and unjust this man is. Here's CNN. Kicking off the Independence Day weekend, 0.94

00:16:53.940 President Trump will be at Mount Rushmore where he'll be standing in front of a monument of two

00:16:59.440 slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans told that, uh, be focusing on the effort

00:17:06.060 to quote, tear down our country's history. That's really awful and dark and awful, isn't it? I guess

00:17:13.800 CNN just hates Mount Rushmore. Maybe there's something wrong with Mount Rushmore. Uh, maybe,

00:17:19.840 maybe we've just been so wrong about this all the time. Oh no, it's pure hypocrisy because four years

00:17:26.220 ago when Bernie Sanders noted left winger showed up to Mount Rushmore, CNN could not have been happier.

00:17:34.340 This is our country at its very best. What an incredible achievement.

00:17:40.280 Visiting Mount Rushmore today, Bernie Sanders taking in the majesty of the moment,

00:17:45.260 this monument to four great American presidents.

00:17:48.540 Just the accomplishment and the beauty here, it really does make one very proud to be an American.

00:17:55.120 This is America at its best. It makes you proud to be an American. It's so beautiful.

00:18:01.660 Even CNN admits four great American presidents. You know, it's fake when it's in the news.

00:18:09.120 That was a line from Kanye West's recent song, Kanye West, possibly our future president,

00:18:13.520 which we'll get to in a moment. This is what fake news is. They don't care about Mount Rushmore.

00:18:20.440 They don't care about George Washington or Thomas Jefferson. They just care about attacking Trump.

00:18:25.780 And Donald Trump is the representative for you. They want to attack you who they think are deplorable

00:18:31.680 and irredeemable and bitter clingers and all manner of evil. The, the instrument through which

00:18:39.260 they will attack you doesn't matter. If Bernie Sanders, if Joe Biden, I guess now is the nominee,

00:18:45.720 had given a speech at Mount Rushmore, all we would have heard for the last two weeks is how great

00:18:50.260 Mount Rushmore is. If Joe Biden had given a speech on how wonderful George Washington is,

00:18:55.280 we'd have, we'd have heard hour to hour, 24 seven media coverage of how George Washington was a

00:19:01.040 great man and how he would have hated Donald Trump. There's no solid logic here. It's just Democrat,

00:19:10.100 good Republican, bad Biden, good Trump, bad left, good, right, bad. That's all it is. And,

00:19:18.360 and there are some squishy people on the right who, who want to say, ah, maybe they've got a point,

00:19:24.300 you know, maybe, maybe we shouldn't have Mount Rushmore. Maybe we shouldn't, ah, you know,

00:19:29.140 Jefferson did own slave. It's, it's not about that guy. You're just, you're trying to appease people

00:19:34.500 and come to an accommodation with people who have no desire to reconcile with you on the left.

00:19:39.140 They just want to club you and attack you. And the, the sooner you, you can pull up a,

00:19:45.380 an example from the media for all, virtually all of these stories. How many do you have to watch

00:19:50.280 before you realize they don't want to be friends with you? Okay. They don't, they don't like you

00:19:55.480 very much. They don't like this country. Finally, we can see that Colin Kaepernick is a liar in his

00:20:04.220 premise that the left was lying from the beginning. Remember when Colin Kaepernick came out and he said

00:20:08.220 that he was protesting police brutality. And some of us at that time said, no, he's not.

00:20:14.900 He's protesting the country. He's protesting the American flag, which is a symbol of the country.

00:20:19.900 So he's protesting the country itself. When some of us said that at the time, we were called racist

00:20:24.900 and stupid and idiots. And of course not stop being obtuse, stop being so thick headed. He's only 1.00

00:20:30.440 protesting the police. Well, then it went from protesting the current star spangled banner to

00:20:35.280 protesting the Betsy Ross flag. That's what Colin Kaepernick did. And I said, wait, see, there

00:20:40.620 wasn't, there weren't police departments as we know them at the time of the Betsy Ross flag. He's

00:20:45.400 protesting the country. Still people said, no, no, he's just protesting police brutality. Well, now

00:20:51.120 Colin Kaepernick has come out and admitted he thinks the country itself is evil. He tweeted out for

00:20:56.540 the 4th of July, black people have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized, and terrorized by America 0.84

00:21:01.280 for centuries and are expected to join your commemoration of independence while you enslaved 0.95

00:21:07.000 our ancestors. We reject your celebration of white supremacy and look forward to liberation for all.

00:21:14.300 There's the key. I mean, forget his history, which is a little bit off, as you might imagine.

00:21:19.900 He refers to the 4th of July as a celebration of white supremacy

00:21:23.380 and looks forward to liberation for all. The 4th of July is a celebration of white supremacy,

00:21:32.940 according to the left, because America is nothing but white supremacy. And white supremacy, 0.90

00:21:38.580 by the way, is just the new phrase for white nationalist is what we heard for the last few

00:21:42.780 years, for racist is what we'd heard for the past decade or two. And none of those words mean what

00:21:48.000 they seem to mean. They just mean bad. It's just a synonym for bad, which is why when you try to

00:21:54.840 use internal logic, like racism, right? Racism is an affront to human dignity and racism is when you

00:22:02.180 judge people unjustly on the basis of their race. So we say, okay, so black people can be racist, 1.00

00:22:08.520 right? Or Hispanic people can be racist. They say, no, only white people can. Well, that doesn't make 0.99

00:22:12.760 sense by the definition of racism, but it does when you realize racism or fascism or whatever,

00:22:17.520 all these ism words, it just means bad. It just means I don't like you. And so that's what he's

00:22:23.360 saying. He's saying, I don't like America. I don't like the founding. I don't like the current

00:22:26.820 country. I don't like any of it. And you know what? I don't like Colin Kaepernick. And I, even

00:22:31.040 though surely now some NFL team is going to have to hire him because they're getting pressure from

00:22:36.080 the league and from the popular culture. It won't matter. He won't change his mind. The minute he's

00:22:42.700 hired back, even as a mediocre football player, he's not going to say, oh gosh, what a good country. 0.76

00:22:48.680 Don't forget, Colin Kaepernick was raised by adoptive parents, presumably white supremacists

00:22:52.880 themselves. There's no, there's no gratitude toward that. There's no gratitude. Colin Kaepernick

00:22:58.140 lives in the most free, prosperous, wonderful country in the world. He got to make millions of

00:23:01.460 dollars from Nike or, or from the NFL gets to play a game for a living. No gratitude for that

00:23:08.660 because you either look at the world with gratitude or with resentment. You either look at the past as

00:23:14.060 irredeemable or as a sign of how the best is yet to come, but it's not just Colin Kaepernick.

00:23:22.100 It's because Colin Kaepernick, who cares? There've always been weirdo athletes. It goes up higher.

00:23:27.840 One of the major VP candidates being considered by Joe Biden basically agrees with Kaepernick. We'll get

00:23:35.400 to that in one second. First though, I've got to thank our friends over at

00:23:38.560 ReadyWise. Very important to be prepared during an emergency, before the emergency hits. Maybe

00:23:43.900 you've come to realize that over the past few weeks and months. Now is a better time than ever to be

00:23:49.400 prepared with long-term nutritional food options. ReadyWise has many options, such as emergency

00:23:54.980 meals. That's great. Freeze-dried fruits and vegetables for convenient on-the-go nutrition.

00:23:59.000 They've got new adventure meals for hiking, camping, other outdoor activities. ReadyWise meals are easy to

00:24:17.480 Every recipe is crafted by a team of chefs to provide a nutritional meal during critical times.

00:24:22.240 We actually, we had some around the office and one of my producers once just, I kept looking,

00:24:27.980 I was like, what's happening to all these meals? Like, where are they going? And he was just eating

00:24:30.800 them for lunch on a regular day. He wasn't camping. It wasn't the apocalypse. He said, oh, they taste

00:24:34.300 good. So I'm going to do it. This week, my listeners can get free shipping at ReadyWise.com

00:24:38.140 when entering Knowles, K-N-A-W-L-E-S at checkout or by calling 855-453-2945. ReadyWise has a 90 day,

00:24:50.460 W-I-S-E.com, promo code Knowles to get free shipping. Forget Colin Kaepernick. This goes all the way up to

00:24:57.340 a potential Biden VP pick. Now you remember last week, I got to speak with a potential Biden VP

00:25:02.980 pick. That's Karen Bass, head of the Congressional Black Caucus. She's a congressman here in

00:25:06.740 California. And Karen Bass had these ties to Marxists. She worked with the BLM leadership,

00:25:14.420 which describes itself as trained Marxists very closely. She denied that. She lied to my face

00:25:19.340 because she didn't realize I had the receipts, which we showed on an episode last week. She also had

00:25:24.700 given praise to Fidel Castro, communist dictator of Cuba, right? So that's, that's pretty unsettling.

00:25:30.420 Now we have another Biden VP pick who has these radical views. This would be Tammy Duckworth. 1.00

00:25:35.860 Tammy Duckworth is a democratic Senator from Illinois. Duckworth was asked about this radical

00:25:42.120 view of American history, whereby we have to take down statues of George Washington. Did she say that's

00:25:47.280 crazy? Did she disavow tearing down statues of Washington? No, she said that's something we should

00:25:52.360 seriously consider. George Washington, I don't think anybody would call him a traitor. And there

00:25:58.140 are moves by some to remove statues of him. Is that a good idea? I think we should listen to the

00:26:05.600 everybody. I think we should listen to, to the argument there. But remember that the president

00:26:10.240 at Mount Rushmore was standing on ground that was stolen from Native Americans who had actually been 0.78

00:26:16.040 given that land during a treaty. Um, and again, let's talk about the greater context of where we

00:26:22.260 are in our country right now. It's open discussion for everybody. We got to hear all points of view.

00:26:28.980 You think that, uh, George Washington was a terrible, no good, rotten, dirty scoundrel and we should tear 0.99

00:26:33.620 all the statues down. Okay. Yeah, we should hear that out. But something tells me she wouldn't hear 0.99

00:26:37.920 out the traditional view, which has been held not only by Washington's admirers, but even by his

00:26:42.840 fiercest enemies, King George III, that he is the greatest man of his age. I agree with that.

00:26:50.080 People always ask, who is the greatest founding father? Who is the great? There's no question.

00:26:53.680 It is Washington. All the rest are also great men, but nobody compares to the giant of Washington.

00:27:02.380 So what's so upsetting here is not just that we have a sitting U.S. Senator, potential VP candidate

00:27:06.740 who doesn't care to defend the father of our country. Even Biden himself, even Biden himself

00:27:14.980 chose 4th of July to make a short speech, obviously not in person because they don't want him to get

00:27:21.180 lost and not be able to pronounce his name. So it was highly produced in his basement. Even Biden

00:27:27.480 himself chose the 4th of July to, to tear down the country. We'll get to that in one moment. This,

00:27:34.000 this perfect contrast between looking with bright eyes to the future, Donald Trump,

00:27:40.240 and looking with scorn and disdain for our past. That's Joe Biden. We'll get to that. We'll get to

00:27:47.180 have a fight for our future is actually a fight for our past. But first I have got to thank all of

00:27:53.840 you. Thank you so much for showing up to the Michael Knowles show on Apple podcast and subscribing

00:27:58.760 and leaving a five-star review. We really appreciate that. That helps us out. And also thank you for

00:28:02.880 subscribing to the show on YouTube. You may have noticed that we passed the 130,000 subscriber

00:28:08.660 mark, which allows me to beat Drew, which I'm really, really pleased about. We also had an hour

00:28:13.540 long interview with my friend, Dave Rubin over the weekend. We talked about everything from his

00:28:19.160 surprising new view on abortion. He's moved in a direction I think we'll all like. Trump, Jordan

00:28:25.220 Peterson, who, you know, obviously Dave knows very well. And Dave does something in this interview that

00:28:30.240 he has never done in an interview before. Head on over there and also get a Daily Wire Reader's Pass,

00:28:35.200 99 cents for the first month. That's my gift to you. Three bucks a month after that, you get to

00:28:40.380 read all of the exclusive content, some great stuff here. For instance, Ben's latest piece about the

00:28:45.180 only good people in history. And according to the logic of the left these days, it sounds like he

00:28:48.980 plagiarized my famous book. Head on over, get a Reader's Pass, dailywire.com. Sign up for just a buck.

00:28:54.000 We will be back with a whole lot more. So Biden uses the 4th of July to tear down the country.

00:29:11.020 He tweets out a video because he, he can't be expected to give a live speech because he's

00:29:16.340 obviously in precipitous decline. He's not even able to campaign, which is why I just coincidentally

00:29:22.740 notice that, uh, democratic officials have locked down the entire country and won't let anyone

00:29:28.320 campaign before the presidential election. So Joe Biden tweets out this video. And for anyone who

00:29:33.980 thinks that Joe Biden is some moderate, he's kind of the old school of the democratic party,

00:29:37.900 listen to him tear down our country.

00:29:40.260 Our country was founded on an idea. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created

00:29:47.540 equal. We've never lived up to it. Jefferson himself didn't. He held slaves. Women,

00:29:52.640 women were excluded. But once proposed, it was an idea that couldn't be constrained.

00:29:59.980 It survived the ravages of the civil war, the dogs of Bull Connor, the assassination of Martin

00:30:05.360 Luther King, and more than 200 years of systemic racism. Just weeks ago, the murder of George Floyd.

00:30:13.020 Through it all, these words have gnawed at our conscience and pulled us towards justice.

00:30:18.640 American history is no fair idea. It's been a constant push and pull between the two parts

00:30:24.560 of our character. The idea that all men and women, all people are created equal and the racism that

00:30:30.940 has torn us apart. We have a chance now to give the marginalized, the demonized, the isolated,

00:30:38.420 the oppressed, a full share of the American dream. We have a chance to rip the roots of systemic racism

00:30:43.460 out of this country. We've never lived up to our ideals. That's what, that's what Biden says. He

00:30:50.280 says it dismissively. He goes, yeah, we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created

00:30:53.960 equal. I'm glad he could remember the phrase this time, unlike in that previous speech, and probably

00:30:57.380 couldn't remember the phrase, which is why they had to pre-film it. Never lived up to it. I think we

00:31:04.300 have, actually. I think we've lived up to it many times. I think we live up to it more often than we

00:31:08.440 don't, buddy. American history is no fairy tale. Right. American history is, is an awe-inspiring

00:31:15.560 history. It's the history of the, the greatest nation, modern nation, the history of the world.

00:31:22.740 What Joe Biden is selling you is a fairy tale. What Joe Biden is selling you is that America is

00:31:27.440 rotten, systemically racist, institutionalized racism. He controls all the institutions, by the 0.87

00:31:34.520 way. Don't forget him and his associates on the left and in the democratic party. They do control

00:31:39.380 all of it, but somehow it's everyone else's fault. His fairy tale that America is, is basically just

00:31:44.460 torn between the good people and the bad people. And you know, he's the representative of the good

00:31:49.140 people and Donald Trump's a bad person. Remember he opened his campaign on this lie that Donald Trump

00:31:55.460 called neo-Nazis and white supremacists, very fine people at Charlottesville. That was the beginning of

00:31:59.340 the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign. It's a lie. It's demonstrably false. Lying is a sin,

00:32:04.420 by the way, Joe Biden, good person, Joe Biden. And that now finally, you know, the, the, the central

00:32:11.820 feature of America is racism. Joe Biden is acknowledging the 1619 project, dishonest premise.

00:32:18.760 And, but, but Joe is going to, Joe, despite 50 years in public life, finally, now he's going to make

00:32:24.740 us all better again. That's what they always tell us. This is the progressive liberation narrative.

00:32:29.220 They can never solve any problems and they can never acknowledge that we've, we've done anything

00:32:34.700 good in the world because to acknowledge that is to give up their whole sales pitch, which is we're

00:32:39.600 the progressives. We're the liberals. We're always, there has to be oppression. It has to be systemic

00:32:45.520 because our entire reason for being is to liberate us from that oppression. That's why they're liberals

00:32:53.820 and to progress into this wonderful future. That's why they're progressives. And if things are pretty

00:32:58.700 good, which they are, then they have no reason for being. And I would agree with that. I don't think

00:33:04.280 they have a reason for being. I think their actual raison d'etre in the United States is to antagonize us

00:33:09.440 and to, to bring us down and to tear down our past in an effort to control our future. Really

00:33:16.400 disgusting stuff. I don't have respect for Joe Biden. I know it's fashionable now to say, oh, he's,

00:33:21.300 he's an okay man, but he's declining, but he's been all right in his career. I don't think he's been

00:33:25.140 all right. I think he's a liar through and through. I think he's been a doofus for his whole career. 0.99

00:33:29.780 I think he doesn't believe a damn thing and he's willing to go whichever way the wind blows. And if 0.98

00:33:33.780 they told him, hey, dye your hair blue and put on this beanie and go tear down a statue, it'll help

00:33:38.040 you win an election. I think he would do it. Okay. None of that is worthy of respect. And, and if you

00:33:43.060 think that, oh, it's just old Joe, maybe the country will come together. They've extorted us and they've

00:33:47.340 said, we're going to burn your country down. If you don't elect our guy, just let them have it. Then things

00:33:51.000 will calm down. I think you are sorely mistaken, but things are not coming down in the presidential

00:33:56.620 election because we've got a new candidate in the race. And I think I might bear some responsibility

00:34:02.900 for this. That new candidate is of course, Mr. Yeezy, Kanye West. Kanye West announces

00:34:10.160 over the weekend on the 4th of July that he's running for president. We must now realize the promise

00:34:16.960 of America by trusting God, Kanye writes, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running

00:34:23.040 for president of the United States, hashtag 2020 vision. So he's not running in 2024. He

00:34:29.960 could be saying it's the 2020 vision, but I'm going to run next time. But now Kanye, who's

00:34:33.960 friends with Donald Trump, says he's running for president this year, even though it's too

00:34:38.260 late to get on the ballot in most states. I'm a little skeptical that this is actually going

00:34:43.800 to work out. The thing I want to point out here though, is Kanye West sent that tweet

00:34:47.560 at 5.38 PM on July 4th. Two minutes earlier at 5.36 PM, I tweeted out my take on Kanye's

00:34:58.020 latest song and I tweeted it at him. And I pointed out that this is the quote from the tweet, Kanye

00:35:05.640 West has a more sophisticated understanding of liberty than most self-described conservatives

00:35:09.340 and libertarians. Two minutes later, Kanye announces also on Twitter that he's running

00:35:15.120 for president. So like, I'm not saying I did this, but you know, maybe I did this. So sorry

00:35:25.280 or you're welcome, depending on your view of this thing. I think it's, it's perfectly fun.

00:35:30.100 I think it's all well and good. I wouldn't be surprised if Trump put him up to it. I wouldn't

00:35:33.800 be. I don't think so. Kanye is his own man and he does things that are unexpected sometimes

00:35:38.140 and maybe he's just trying to promote his song, which just came out. And you know,

00:35:43.000 the mainstream media are now trying to block Kanye out of the popular culture because he's

00:35:46.780 going off script. But I think this would help Trump, right? I don't, the reason that so many

00:35:53.860 people on the right now like Kanye is just because Kanye likes Trump. It's because he puts on the MAGA

00:35:59.560 hat and, and also because he did a gospel album. So they like that. I mean, that's, that's some good

00:36:02.980 stuff. And maybe we don't like all the songs on it or the music itself, but we like the message

00:36:07.300 in the lyrics. That's good. That's kind of my take on Kanye. Nobody who's going to vote for Trump

00:36:11.660 is now going to vote for Kanye instead. Very few people. Some people are joking about it,

00:36:18.380 but I don't think that's the case. However, I think there are plenty of people who maybe they're

00:36:23.300 not that political. Maybe they don't feel any particular pull to Joe Biden or Donald Trump

00:36:27.020 who would, would generally be in the democratic camp because Democrats always are trying to get

00:36:32.840 people who are not that politically aware or knowledgeable to vote. This is the whole premise

00:36:37.600 of the rock the vote campaign or voter die, you know, puff daddy's thing from a million years ago.

00:36:43.940 They're always just saying, Hey, you don't know anything about politics. You don't know a thing

00:36:48.040 about any of the issues at stake or any of the candidates. Perfect. You're our guy. Get out there

00:36:52.180 and vote because they know that voters with low information are more likely to vote for Democrats

00:36:57.140 because Democrats control all of the messaging of the entire culture. So, uh, probably Kanye could

00:37:03.860 pull some votes away from Joe Biden. Fine by me. Uh, I, I wish Kanye well. I don't think this is going

00:37:08.640 to work out very well for him just because he's, he's not going to be able to get on the ballots,

00:37:12.380 but, uh, but that, that's fine by me. People that you would not expect to lead are leading like Kanye

00:37:20.380 West. People who you would expect to lead, like for instance, a, an English prince, Prince Harry,

00:37:28.000 Duke of Sussex is not leading. Prince Harry posted the most cringe inducing video over the weekend

00:37:33.920 that I've seen in quite a while. It ended up looking like a hostage tape where Prince Harry

00:37:39.220 apologized for all of the institutional racism. And don't forget that is just a code word for,

00:37:46.460 for, for bad, all the badness. And by the way, if the English monarchy is not an institution,

00:37:52.700 I don't know what is. So I guess he would have to be responsible for this. Harry probably always

00:37:57.160 viewed himself as a good guy. We always thought he's fine and no one, we don't think he's some

00:38:00.620 bigot, but he has to apologize for the institutional racism. It was very, very pathetic. 0.99

00:38:08.020 My wife said recently that our generation and the ones before us haven't done enough to right the 0.97

00:38:12.920 wrongs of the past. I too am sorry. Sorry that we haven't got the world to the place that you

00:38:18.680 deserve it to be. Institutional racism has no place in our societies, yet it is still endemic.

00:38:27.680 Unconscious bias must be acknowledged without blame to create a better world for all of you.

00:38:33.980 I want you to know that we are committed to being part of the solution and to being part of the change

00:38:38.300 that you are all leading. Now is the time and we know that you can do it.

00:38:44.680 My wife said recently, that's, you could have stopped the video there and you would have said,

00:38:49.020 this is not going to be a good video. Pretty embarrassing stuff that the Duke of Sussex has

00:38:54.440 to begin his own speeches by saying, you know, my wife just told me, this is, my wife said this very

00:38:59.360 interesting thing. And you know, my wife told me to give this speech by the way. And so that's what

00:39:05.000 my wife said. Love her. She's great. Uh, pathetic, very pathetic stuff. But when leaders don't lead,

00:39:11.280 then things go a little bit haywire. And I think that's, that's what you've been seeing in the,

00:39:16.180 the madness and the mayhem and the rioting, not just in the U S but also in the UK, all around the

00:39:20.960 world. That rioting, that madness leads to terrible results for everybody. Over the weekend, a, a non-binary 1.00

00:39:29.060 white ally of the Black Lives Matter Marxist organization was killed. She was killed while

00:39:37.900 protesting on the highway at night. She, she was on the I-5 highway at night. When you are walking

00:39:46.920 around a highway, obviously that's a dangerous place to be. So how did she end up on the highway

00:39:50.720 at night where there's no evidence that the driver intentionally killed her though? Maybe he did. I

00:39:55.900 don't know. It's on, it's very unclear. I mean, he does speed up. He, he hits them, but they just

00:40:00.360 don't, they just don't know the motive at this point. How do you end up on the highway at night?

00:40:05.700 Well, what happened was the police decided they were the, this BLM organization, this anarchist

00:40:10.980 organization decided to close, they were going to march on the highway. So instead of the police

00:40:15.360 saying, no, you're not going to do that, we're going to arrest you. If you try to do that,

00:40:18.020 they closed down part of the highway. But just because you say, okay, we're going to close part of

00:40:24.160 this highway. That doesn't make that a safe situation. It is never safe to walk on the

00:40:28.120 highway, particularly at night. Don't do it. So they do this. This woman very sadly gets killed.

00:40:34.460 Now I knew from the very beginning that this was not a white guy who drove the car. The way I knew 0.79

00:40:42.540 that is if it had been a white guy who drove the car, that would have been the story. White supremacist, 0.92

00:40:49.120 white nationalist killer. Even though the victim was white, it would have been, this was an attack 1.00

00:40:55.580 on Black Lives Matter. But I knew, I knew for a fact that the driver was not a white guy because

00:41:01.520 of the media coverage. So Kamala Harris, the Senator writes, absolutely heartbreaking. Summer

00:41:05.440 Taylor was only 24 years old, peacefully protesting for Black Lives Matter. Again, it's not a peaceful

00:41:10.540 protest when you shut down a highway, but neither here nor there. When they were, when they were

00:41:15.260 struck by a car because this, this woman doesn't believe that she's a woman or didn't believe that

00:41:19.800 she's a woman. Thinking of their family during this difficult time and everyone in the movement

00:41:23.340 today. So this is very irresponsible stuff because what Kamala Harris is doing here is encouraging 1.00

00:41:27.560 more people to get out on the highway. And regardless of whether you agree with the political

00:41:31.320 views of the people protesting, it's always very sad when people die and more people will die

00:41:35.780 because of this, because of this kind of encouragement. But it's being, it's still being

00:41:41.220 posited as this anti-Black Lives Matter attack. ABC News, protester dies after being, after struck

00:41:50.940 by speeding car at Black Lives Matter freeway demonstration in Seattle. But no mention of

00:41:56.620 the race of the driver. You can go through the whole article, no mention of the race of

00:42:01.120 the driver. Then you find out the suspect who was arrested for doing it, his name is Dawit

00:42:06.360 Khalit. He is a black guy. And it's not even that they don't mention the race. I don't 0.96

00:42:11.140 care that they don't mention the race of these suspects. It's that if this were flipped, the

00:42:17.060 whole story would be about race. And it would be about how this ties in perfectly with America's 0.63

00:42:22.920 past and the original sin of America. And we've always been rotten and racist and it's a white 0.99

00:42:29.460 supremacist holiday on the 4th of July. And this is just another example of it. This is what 0.98

00:42:35.300 they do on the left. This is how they rewrite history. When there is a, an example that does

00:42:42.760 not fit their narrative, the example is treated as just a one-off incident. When any, any example

00:42:49.060 they can find buttresses their narrative of America as a hopelessly racist place historically,

00:42:53.780 it's considered part of this trend, part of the history. Nine unarmed black men, not nine

00:43:01.220 non-dangerous men, not nine innocent men, just nine unarmed black men were killed last year by

00:43:07.740 police. But even just use that number, even say none of them should have been killed,

00:43:11.540 even though the killings were justified in certain cases. Nine, not 90,000, not 9,000, not 900, not 90,

00:43:18.780 nine. Those are incidents. Those are not reflective of the broadest historical trend of how Americans have

00:43:26.840 always been slaughtering black people. Isn't the case, but that battle is over history. And the battle 1.00

00:43:34.740 over history is where they will be able to take us in the future. They're tearing down statues of

00:43:40.940 Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass, the black abolitionist. They're tearing down statues of

00:43:48.680 Frederick Douglass. Some were torn down in Rochester, New York, local media reported. Now it's unclear who

00:43:54.660 did it. Was it Black Lives Matter who did it? Maybe. Was it Antifa who did it? Maybe. If so, 0.88

00:43:58.840 it will be excused and ignored. If they find out that it was a white right winger who did it,

00:44:05.400 then this will be blasted over the news ad nauseum. And it will prove the double standard,

00:44:11.400 right? Because you can tear down statues of everybody. It's fine. It's a good thing. It's

00:44:15.100 wonderful. But you tear down a statue of Frederick Douglass. If it's, if it's a white, white guy,

00:44:20.800 white nationalist, white supremacist who does it, this will be considered indicative of this

00:44:24.500 long historical trend in American history. Either way though, of course, it shows the absurdity of 0.94

00:44:29.860 this and it shows this historical battle. There was a viral video over the weekend from TikTok of

00:44:35.620 these two girls talking about their view of American history, which I think has become a common view

00:44:42.160 among the youth. I'm ashamed to be an American where not all folks are free. And I won't forget the

00:44:51.640 enslaved who died and built this place for free. So I proudly lift up all the folks who are still

00:44:58.800 oppressed today. Cause there ain't no doubt this ain't our land. Trump and the USA.

00:45:06.400 Two white liberal gals. That's the view. That's the radical view. And it's the view that comes 0.99

00:45:14.300 naturally from liberalism because you've always got to be, you know, even, even the idea that

00:45:20.060 you're liberating yourself from the oppression of say the British monarchy or King George the third

00:45:23.780 taken to an extreme that can bleed over into always having to liberate yourself from the oppressive

00:45:30.520 past, which means toppling your own heroes. I watched Hamilton over the weekend. Sorry to say,

00:45:36.220 I was told to watch Hamilton. I didn't intentionally watch Hamilton. And I, you know, I like the theater.

00:45:40.920 I've been to quite a lot of theater. I've been around a lot of actors and directors and, and writers

00:45:45.800 for much of my life in New York and in LA. Technically Hamilton is, is fine for a modern musical.

00:45:54.400 You know, it's a rap musical in large part, so that's not great, but it's okay. I mean,

00:45:58.520 as far as modern musicals go, it's, it's fine. I love Hamilton. I'm a big admirer of Alexander

00:46:03.260 Hamilton, the historical figure, not necessarily the musical and Lin-Manuel Miranda is a talented

00:46:08.340 composer. So it was fine. I was thinking, what do I think of Hamilton? Hamilton is ultimately a bad

00:46:16.220 musical for America, bad for a present moment for a couple of reasons, even though it's very kind to

00:46:22.280 the founding fathers, very kind to Alexander Hamilton, we're celebrating the founding era. That's a lot of

00:46:26.020 fun. There's a, an, an unfortunate message being sent, which is the problem of this is the genre

00:46:35.800 of the music coupled with the liberation narrative that is obviously intrinsic to the story sends a

00:46:42.080 very racially divisive message. The genre is rap for, for all the good guys rap. And then the bad guy,

00:46:48.800 King George sings classic show tunes. Now the rappers, the, all the good guy characters and some of the bad

00:46:55.500 guys, but at least they're all on the good side, meaning the colonists and the Patriots.

00:46:59.780 They're all played by black or Hispanic characters, uh, actors. That's the casting. It's not colorblind

00:47:05.880 casting. Some people think it's colorblind casting, which is where you cast anybody of any race for

00:47:10.000 any part. That's not the case. And the creators of the show said, this is not colorblind. It's

00:47:14.200 specifically people of color for the, the good guy characters, at least good guys as so much as it's

00:47:19.700 the colonists and the Patriots. The bad guy is played by a white guy. His, that's King George,

00:47:23.560 who has a great performance. The two best performances are King George and Aaron Burr.

00:47:28.340 Leslie Odom Jr. Does a great job, but I understand why it's people of color being cast for the 1.00

00:47:33.600 largely rapping roles because, you know, nobody wants to see Nathan Lane or Matthew Broderick

00:47:38.140 rapping. Okay. It's just not very convincing. Rap historically, traditionally views itself through a

00:47:43.400 racial prism, right? As a, as a racial kind of art form. So, okay, we've got this, this rap genre,

00:47:51.620 which leads to certain casting. Maybe they would have cast it that way anyway. Coupled with the

00:47:55.500 liberation narrative then, the message you're getting is rap liberating itself. The good,

00:48:01.100 new, young, oppressed form of music, rap, liberating itself from the traditional stodgy

00:48:06.480 oppressive form of music, which is the Broadway show tunes. The inevitable consequence of that

00:48:11.840 message, given the casting, is that you have the people of color, all oppressed, liberating 0.86

00:48:16.520 themselves from the stodgy old oppressive white guy who is King George. That's a divisive message.

00:48:23.580 That's not a unitive message, particularly at this moment. And I don't think it's because Lin

00:48:29.960 Manuel Miranda is some kind of radical. I think he's just a liberal. I think he's a progressive.

00:48:33.980 I think that's the view of history. And it's a view now shared by Joe Biden. It's a view shared by

00:48:38.860 everybody on the left, but it shows you the stakes. This is not just a handful of radicals tearing down

00:48:43.880 statues of Washington. This is the fundamental battle line between the left in America,

00:48:51.520 anyone who works in the arts, all the way up to Joe Biden, the presidential candidate,

00:48:55.560 the left, which wants to tear down the country, which will twist and pervert beyond recognition

00:49:02.300 our actual history to create a fairytale narrative that will allow them to control the future versus

00:49:08.060 the right, the conservatives who want to conserve things, who realize that the left is selling

00:49:14.880 people a bill of goods, that they are no better and they are actually worse than our forefathers.

00:49:19.780 And they are lying through their teeth about our history and all they want is power and control.

00:49:24.800 That is going to be the battle through November. This election ain't about tax rates, folks.

00:49:29.880 This is about our very history and our history as our future. That's our show. I'm Michael Knowles.

00:50:39.020 enough of those already out there. We talk about culture because culture drives politics and it 0.69

00:50:44.040 drives everything else. So my main focuses are life, family, faith. Those are fundamental. And that's

00:50:51.660 what this show is about. I hope you'll give it a listen.
