Ep. 608 - Trump And Kanye: True Conservatives

Summary

Former Republican Senator Jeff Flake says that Joe Biden is more conservative than Donald Trump. What does that mean, and what does it mean to be a conservative? Is it possible that a man who supports abortion on demand up until birth by taxpayer expense, suing nuns and forcing mandates on everybody, is actually a conservative in the eyes of the right?

00:00:37.800 Did you know that Joe Biden is more conservative than Donald Trump?
00:00:42.100 This thought had never occurred to me, but it apparently did occur to the former Republican Senator Jeff Flake,
00:00:48.640 who was on speaking to CNN, Christian Amampur, who Drew Klavan calls Christian Amampur journalist.
00:00:54.920 And he made the bold claim. This is a claim that echoes the same sort of sentiments we've heard from the never-Trumpers.
00:01:01.740 There are like three of them left in America who say Trump is not a real conservative.
00:01:06.560 So much so that they're now saying that this doddering old shell of a man who supports abortion on demand up until birth by taxpayer expense
00:01:15.300 and suing nuns and forcing mandates on everybody, that that guy is more conservative than your favorite president, Donald Trump.
00:01:23.400 Well, conservatives believe in preserving and conserving institutions to preserve what we know works.
00:01:30.600 And the institutions of American democracy are freedom of the press, for example, or separation of powers, independent judiciary.
00:01:40.460 And the president has shown that he either little understands or little appreciates these institutions.
00:01:47.100 So I'm not pretending that Joe Biden is as conservative as I am on fiscal issues and whatnot.
00:01:53.960 But on those important issues of American democracy, frankly, he's more conservative than the president is.
00:02:02.240 Donald Trump doesn't appreciate freedom of the press, probably the most transparent administration we've had,
00:02:08.580 certainly in my lifetime, probably in over 100 years.
00:02:11.380 Donald Trump doesn't appreciate separation of powers, the most federalist constitutional president we've had in my lifetime.
00:02:18.940 Something tells me that Jeff Flake and many other people, not only on the left, but a few on the right as well,
00:02:24.640 don't appreciate how corrupt our press has become and how little separation of powers there is in our government.
00:02:31.140 We will get into the true meaning of conservatism.
00:02:34.480 I'm Michael Knowles. This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:02:41.380 Welcome back to the show. My favorite comment yesterday came from Carl, who said,
00:02:48.240 my favorite saying about statistics came from one of my statistics professors.
00:02:52.340 Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is enticing. What they hide is essential.
00:02:58.180 That is a profound statement about statistics.
00:03:01.020 We'll get into statistics a little bit, too, because I think conservatives should not play around with those statistics.
00:03:06.620 Those statistics can be very dangerous things because statistics themselves are progressive.
00:03:13.200 Statistics themselves are left-wing. They are a creation of the left only about 100 years ago, which we will get into.
00:03:21.040 Is Joe Biden more conservative than Donald Trump?
00:03:25.300 Hard to say that. He's older. He's old. He's an old guy.
00:03:28.860 Is that what you mean by conservative, that he's older?
00:03:31.160 Some people believe that, but that's not all conservatism is.
00:03:34.180 We've been having these debates certainly since 2016 at a large scale, but we've been having them for much longer than that.
00:03:40.980 What does it mean to be conservative?
00:03:43.060 Something tells me what Jeff Flake means by conservative is not the same view that would have been shared by John Adams or George Washington or Edmund Burke or other people in the conservative tradition.
00:03:54.560 What does it mean?
00:03:55.540 If we elect Joe Biden, if we elect Joe Biden, we are electing the representative of a political party that is calling for violence throughout the country.
00:04:05.220 There was a quick smattering of this put together that that was going around Twitter yesterday.
00:04:10.920 The actual clip goes on for several minutes.
00:04:13.980 Just a little taste of that conservative political party we'd be putting into power.
00:04:18.580 I just don't even know why there aren't uprisings all over the country.
00:04:23.280 Maybe there will be.
00:04:24.720 People need to start taking to the streets.
00:04:26.860 This is a dictator.
00:04:28.660 You know, there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there is unrest in our lives.
00:04:32.720 Enemies of the state.
00:04:34.540 Show me where it says that protests are supposed to be polite and peaceful.
00:04:38.620 Do something about your dad's immigration practices, you feckless.
00:04:42.440 When they go low, we kick them.
00:04:43.980 How do you resist the temptation to run up and wring her neck?
00:04:47.140 Biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized up to the right.
00:04:54.160 I thought he should have punched him in the face.
00:04:55.640 I said, even if you lost, he insulted your wife.
00:04:57.640 Yes.
00:04:57.820 He came down the escalator and called Mexicans rapists and murderers.
00:05:00.380 He said, well, what do you think I should have done?
00:05:01.420 I said, I think you should have punched him in the face and then gotten out of the race.
00:05:03.520 You would have been a hero.
00:05:04.860 I'd like to punch him in the face.
00:05:06.640 I said, if we were in high school, I'd take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.
00:05:10.200 Punch some people in the face.
00:05:12.520 When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?
00:05:17.200 Notice here how seamlessly it moves from the politicians to the appointed officials,
00:05:22.720 like Attorney General Eric Holder, who said when they go low, we kick him,
00:05:25.540 to the mainstream media, the news media, to Hollywood, back to the elected politicians,
00:05:31.960 Joe Biden himself.
00:05:33.300 Notice how seamlessly it all moves because it's all part of the same thing.
00:05:36.560 How's that for a free press?
00:05:37.660 How's that for separation of powers?
00:05:39.220 What are they all calling for?
00:05:40.780 Violence, violence in the streets, punching people, disregarding the rule of law.
00:05:46.460 Is that conservative?
00:05:48.500 Of course, I mean, by definition, that's not conservative.
00:05:50.520 You're tearing the country down.
00:05:52.840 So what do we mean by conservative?
00:05:54.280 We'll get to that in one second.
00:05:55.520 First, though, got to thank our friends over at Ancestry.
00:05:58.520 You know, it's a very cool thing to learn about your family origins.
00:06:02.420 I really have loved it even since before the Daily Wire existed.
00:06:05.860 And I've trusted Ancestry.
00:06:08.140 So you can map out your cool family tree and everything.
00:06:11.040 You can find ancestors you didn't know you had.
00:06:12.640 And then an Ancestry DNA test tells you where your ancestors are from.
00:06:16.640 And Ancestry's billions of records and millions of family trees let you discover their personal
00:06:20.720 stories.
00:06:21.140 You could find a famous relative.
00:06:22.480 You could maybe find a photo of your great-grandma as a little girl.
00:06:24.760 One thing I always like since we started the show and since Ancestry has been supporting
00:06:28.560 the show, I'll get messages on Ancestry from listeners who, it turns out, were like 12th
00:06:32.860 cousins or something like that.
00:06:34.140 Because you can find all these things on Ancestry.
00:06:36.300 I love it.
00:06:36.860 I think if you're a history buff, if you're interested in conserving things, if you're
00:06:40.100 interested in tradition, there's no better hobby to get into.
00:06:43.900 It will reveal not just the history of the country, the history maybe of whatever country
00:06:47.520 your family's from.
00:06:48.500 It will reveal your own personal family history.
00:06:50.940 You can pinpoint specific regions that people came from.
00:06:53.400 It's just tremendously cool to look at it and it informs your own view of yourself.
00:06:59.480 Start exploring your family story today.
00:07:01.360 Head over to my URL, which is Ancestry.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S.
00:07:07.560 To get your Ancestry DNA kit, start your free trial, Ancestry.com slash Knowles.
00:07:15.280 Obviously nothing conservative about wanting to tear the country down.
00:07:18.980 But you might say, oh Michael, come on, you're pointing to these crazy left
00:07:23.380 leftists like Nancy Pelosi, who just got caught in a big lie herself.
00:07:27.480 We'll get to that in one second.
00:07:28.760 You're talking about these crazy leftists like that Stranger Things guy out of Hollywood.
00:07:32.700 You're not talking about old Joe Biden, old Scranton Joe, old Amtrak Joe.
00:07:36.800 Oh, he's great.
00:07:37.480 He's just my fun, nice little uncle.
00:07:39.880 Well, for one, we did hear Joe Biden in that montage of people calling for unrest for people
00:07:45.520 calling to take to the streets.
00:07:46.920 But also, does anybody really think that if Joe Biden is elected president, he's going
00:07:51.500 to be the one calling the shots?
00:07:54.000 Talk about separation of powers.
00:07:55.720 Joe Biden, again yesterday, because it was a day that ended in Y, on the few days that
00:08:00.460 his handlers allow him to broadcast outside of his basement, he had another big error.
00:08:06.820 Joe Biden was giving his typically soaring rhetoric in an interview with a local NBC affiliate.
00:08:14.000 Take a listen to his oratory.
00:08:17.900 What's the president doing?
00:08:19.900 Look, Venezuela's top line message is President Trump's policy is an abject failure.
00:08:26.180 That's the top line message.
00:08:28.080 For those of you who are not familiar with teleprompters or with political notes, sometimes you'll
00:08:32.680 see the top line message.
00:08:33.560 That's the point you've got to drive home, but that's not, you don't say the top line
00:08:37.400 message.
00:08:37.700 That's the part that you keep quiet and keep in your head unless you don't know what to
00:08:42.300 say.
00:08:42.580 You've forgotten how to conduct politics.
00:08:44.240 You're not really in control of your rational faculties and you're just reading off of a
00:08:48.340 teleprompter, which is obviously what Joe Biden is doing.
00:08:52.360 He's not able even to form these sentences.
00:08:55.260 And it's funny because now, you know, the left always projects.
00:08:58.760 So whatever is true of them, they just throw on to the other political party.
00:09:02.540 Yesterday, they were trying to suggest that Trump had a cognitive decline or he'd had
00:09:07.160 a stroke or something crazy like that.
00:09:10.840 Regardless of what you think about Trump, you might hate him.
00:09:14.520 You might hate his policies.
00:09:16.240 You might be a conservative and hate him because there are disagreements among conservatives.
00:09:19.140 One thing we're talking about today.
00:09:20.980 You can't say the guy is senile.
00:09:24.400 The guy will get up and give a three hour speech without a teleprompter and he'll keep
00:09:28.200 the audience engaged for the whole thing.
00:09:30.000 In fact, he keeps the audience more engaged without a teleprompter than he does with a
00:09:33.360 teleprompter.
00:09:34.060 But certainly he can read a teleprompter.
00:09:36.440 The same cannot be said of Joe Biden.
00:09:37.780 Whether you like Joe Biden or you hate Joe Biden, the guy is obviously in decline.
00:09:42.120 And so if you elect him, what are you electing?
00:09:44.120 You're electing the Democratic Party apparatus, which far from a separation of powers is this
00:09:49.520 liberal establishment connected to the media, connected to the universities, connected
00:09:52.820 to Hollywood, connected to big technology, connected obviously to the party itself.
00:09:57.380 And they are pushing a radical message that involves violence in the streets, that involves
00:10:02.500 tearing down our institutions and our statues and the great men that those statues represent.
00:10:09.520 There is nothing conservative about that at all.
00:10:12.940 And the guy representing that party is not all there.
00:10:15.920 So how else are they trying to take this election away?
00:10:19.200 The way, the other way, I think if you look at the polls, Joe Biden did not get the bump
00:10:25.780 he was trying to get out of picking Kamala Harris.
00:10:28.380 Joe Biden did not get the bump he was trying to get out of the DNC.
00:10:31.220 Donald Trump did get a bit of a bump, particularly among voters that Democrats need, particularly
00:10:35.540 black voters.
00:10:36.460 So they're just trying to steal it at this point.
00:10:39.480 This is a report from a Bloomberg funded poll group here.
00:10:47.640 This is funded by Bloomberg is currently working for a bunch of pro-Biden super PACs.
00:10:53.700 Trump may win election night, but Joe Biden will win days later because of mail-in votes.
00:10:59.820 I have been telling you that this could happen for weeks now, ever since they established this
00:11:05.520 regime of nationwide mail-in votes, you know, widespread mail-in votes, 80 to 100 million
00:11:10.760 people expected to vote by mail.
00:11:12.260 That's how you steal elections.
00:11:13.440 The reason we have election day, the reason you have to go to a polling place, the reason
00:11:16.540 in sane states that you have to show an ID to vote is so that we can have ballot security
00:11:22.240 and protect the integrity of our ballots.
00:11:23.940 Because by the way, if people forge a couple of ballots or harvest ballots that should not
00:11:28.060 have been harvested, then they cancel out your vote, right?
00:11:31.440 They cancel out the legitimate vote of other people.
00:11:33.300 So you could have a situation where on election night, it looks like Trump's going to win
00:11:36.800 because one, Republicans are more likely to go outside of their homes.
00:11:41.560 They don't blindly believe the authority that's changed its tune on coronavirus every 15 minutes
00:11:45.960 for the past six months.
00:11:47.200 They're more willing to go out there and Republicans tend not to steal elections in the way that
00:11:53.400 Democrats are stealing elections.
00:11:54.900 So you could have a Trump tsunami on election night and then two weeks later say, ah, no,
00:11:59.860 the mail-ins, oh, that truck of mail-ins came in, you know, that one with the Biden bumper
00:12:03.960 sticker on it.
00:12:04.700 Yeah.
00:12:04.960 So it turns out Biden's actually the president.
00:12:07.100 Well, that's obviously illegitimate, but this is what is being pushed by Josh Mendelsohn,
00:12:11.840 CEO of Hawkfish, which is this group funded by Bloomberg.
00:12:15.260 His firm is predicting a red mirage.
00:12:18.600 That's what they're going to call it when Trump wins the election, because they know at this
00:12:21.960 point it's looking very good for Trump.
00:12:23.680 Right now, if you look not just even at the polls, but at the betting odds on RealClear
00:12:27.920 Politics, who's winning the, who's winning where people are actually putting money down
00:12:32.280 on the line, Trump has a one-tenth of a percentage point edge.
00:12:36.260 Not a huge edge.
00:12:37.340 It's basically a dead heat, but they're giving the edge to Trump there over in Las Vegas.
00:12:42.580 So if you're in that kind of situation where Biden has lost a major lead, Trump is coming
00:12:48.000 back up.
00:12:48.740 Now what they're going to try to do is steal it.
00:12:51.200 Is that conservative?
00:12:52.240 It depends what era where it's conservative in the sense of going back to the Democratic
00:12:56.600 Party's roots in community organizing and Tammany Hall and political corruption, but
00:13:01.720 it's not conservative in trying to preserve the good regime that the founders established.
00:13:08.380 By the way, by the way, that whole mail-in ballot regime that's going to try to steal these,
00:13:13.680 this election is based on the idea that you're not allowed to go outside because you'll die
00:13:19.980 of the coronavirus.
00:13:20.620 People are dropping like flies from coronavirus, even though only 6% of deaths are directly
00:13:25.660 attributable to coronavirus, exclusively attributable to coronavirus.
00:13:29.240 Forget about that.
00:13:30.160 Don't waste it.
00:13:30.940 Everyone's at risk, even though the median age of a coronavirus victim is older than the
00:13:35.140 life expectancy in the United States.
00:13:36.660 You forget about that.
00:13:37.860 Healthy people need to wear masks and stay home and never go outside and mail in your ballots.
00:13:41.520 It'll all be fine after November 3rd.
00:13:43.120 Well, it turns out the people pushing all that BS don't believe it themselves.
00:13:49.060 Secret security camera footage.
00:13:51.480 This is my favorite story the whole day.
00:13:52.920 Secret security camera footage from San Francisco now shows Nancy Pelosi, the highest ranking Democratic
00:14:02.160 official in the country, walking into a closed hair salon.
00:14:06.400 Remember, they closed all the businesses because COVID is going to kill us all.
00:14:09.380 Walking into that hair salon without a mask to get her private hair appointment because she should be allowed to get
00:14:17.480 haircuts.
00:14:18.080 Just not all those dirty hoi polloi who have to stay at home until election day so we can continue fear-mongering.
00:14:23.700 The amazing video shows you got someone in here, you got an employee probably wearing a mask.
00:14:30.460 Then here comes Nancy wearing a robe, no mask on the employee behind her, also wearing a mask.
00:14:36.840 Nancy doesn't need it though.
00:14:38.180 And Nancy, by the way, is in the high risk category for coronavirus.
00:14:42.460 And she's one of the people, more than anyone, pushing the hysteria in this country on the lockdowns.
00:14:48.720 But she doesn't believe it, which I've been telling you for months.
00:14:51.720 None of the people pushing this nonsense believe it.
00:14:54.760 It's only the lemmings who follow along.
00:14:57.600 So what's it all about?
00:14:58.960 It's pretty clear what it's all about.
00:15:00.640 It's all about the election.
00:15:02.560 It's all about who we hire to be our next president.
00:15:05.480 Speaking of hiring, how's that for a segue?
00:15:07.600 I've got to thank our friends over at ZipRecruiter.
00:15:09.400 You know, hiring right now, on your own, without assistance, is really, really hard.
00:15:15.620 It's hard to do it.
00:15:18.180 ZipRecruiter makes it so much easier.
00:15:19.580 ZipRecruiter sends your job to over 100 of the web's leading job sites.
00:15:23.160 But they don't just stop there.
00:15:24.520 With their powerful matching technology, ZipRecruiter scans thousands of resumes to find people with the right experience and actively invites them to apply to your job.
00:15:33.400 This, to me, is the game changer here.
00:15:35.100 Because it's not just throwing spaghetti at the wall.
00:15:37.600 It's not even just looking at the people who have applied.
00:15:40.660 It's going out there finding the right candidates for you.
00:15:43.400 Time is money in hiring.
00:15:44.660 It's very hard to find the right person.
00:15:46.000 And ZipRecruiter makes it efficient and effective.
00:15:48.600 They've got screening questions to filter candidates.
00:15:50.760 They've got an all-in-one dashboard where you can review and rate your candidates.
00:15:54.300 It's so effective that four out of five employers who post on ZipRecruiter get a quality candidate, not just any candidate, a quality candidate, within the first day.
00:16:04.060 Now, unfortunately, we have a couple of Daily Wire employees here that we hired before we really knew about ZipRecruiter.
00:16:10.160 And that's too bad.
00:16:11.080 We're dealing with that now.
00:16:12.060 Don't make our mistake, okay?
00:16:13.980 Right now, ZipRecruiter, you can try it for free.
00:16:16.160 My listeners can go to ZipRecruiter.com slash Knowles.
00:16:19.280 ZipRecruiter.com slash Knowles, K-N-A-W-L-E-S.
00:16:21.960 ZipRecruiter.com slash Knowles.
00:16:24.100 ZipRecruiter is the smartest way to hire.
00:16:26.520 So, of course, Pelosi doesn't believe this herself.
00:16:30.660 Bill de Blasio, when he shut down the gyms in New York, he didn't shut down his gym.
00:16:33.940 Well, he did.
00:16:34.400 He shut it down for everybody but himself.
00:16:36.300 And he got caught and he said, well, I got to look good.
00:16:37.900 I got to work out.
00:16:38.740 Mayor of Chicago went and got a haircut after she cut down the salons.
00:16:43.340 And what was her excuse?
00:16:44.920 She said, I need a haircut.
00:16:45.900 I'm a clean person.
00:16:47.120 I'm a public-facing person.
00:16:49.180 Well, yeah, not like all you dirty people, you dirty constituents of mine.
00:16:53.720 You don't get to go to the hair salon, just me.
00:16:55.560 This whole thing, this coronavirus lockdown from the very beginning has been a nakedly
00:17:03.020 political, non-scientific power grab.
00:17:06.420 That's all it is.
00:17:07.080 No separation of power is there.
00:17:08.700 It is a grab by the ruling class, the people who want to tell you how to live your life
00:17:13.080 and who have no business doing it.
00:17:15.040 Fortunately, some courageous conservative politicians in the country, not all so-called
00:17:19.700 conservative politicians, but some of the courageous ones are pushing back on this.
00:17:23.240 In particular, Ron DeSantis in Florida, showing tremendous leadership during this whole coronavirus
00:17:28.780 pandemic.
00:17:30.080 It's funny because they give all the credit to Andy Cuomo, who's the worst governor in
00:17:33.640 America on coronavirus, whose policies killed thousands of elderly New Yorkers.
00:17:38.060 And then they always castigate Ron DeSantis in Florida, who's done an amazing job and whose
00:17:43.260 policies have defied all the doomsday predictions.
00:17:45.160 So Ron DeSantis comes out, he's talking about the coronavirus policies, and he makes an emphatic
00:17:49.740 statement that should be a litmus test for every Republican politician in this country.
00:17:54.000 He said, we are never going to do these kinds of lockdowns again.
00:17:58.300 We understand what we need to do, but we will never do any of these lockdowns again.
00:18:06.760 And I hear people say they'll shut down the country.
00:18:09.300 And honestly, I cringe because we know places that have done that.
00:18:13.840 The most draconian lockdown in the world has been Peru, military-enforced since March.
00:18:19.220 They have the highest per capita mortality in the world from COVID.
00:18:24.140 And at best, what a lockdown will do is delay.
00:18:27.460 It does not reduce the ultimate mortality.
00:18:30.600 But I think Dr. Alice would agree, it creates a lot of other problems with mortality that
00:18:36.080 a lot of people don't necessarily focus on.
00:18:39.060 So much information packed into that statement.
00:18:41.840 One, you get the top line message, which is, we're never going to do these lockdowns again.
00:18:47.000 Does that mean we can never have any kind of quarantine policies if there's some truly awful
00:18:52.060 pandemic?
00:18:52.420 No, of course not, but we're not doing this again.
00:18:54.360 We're not shutting down the world over the flu again.
00:18:57.240 So then he moves on from there.
00:18:59.200 He says, there's no evidence that the lockdowns help.
00:19:01.860 We talked about this yesterday on the show.
00:19:03.480 Actually, there's a study that was just published by Revolver yesterday that shows that the lockdowns
00:19:07.560 were 10 times deadlier than the virus itself in terms of human life years lost.
00:19:12.620 Obviously true.
00:19:13.640 There's no evidence that the lockdowns are particularly effective.
00:19:16.660 The most draconian lockdowns in the world are Peru.
00:19:18.600 Peru has a terrible experience with coronavirus, a country that basically stayed open the whole
00:19:23.100 time.
00:19:23.360 Sweden, we were predicted this was going to completely destroy the Swedish population.
00:19:26.940 What happened?
00:19:27.740 They're doing a lot better in many ways than their neighbors.
00:19:30.500 So those predictions, none of those came true.
00:19:33.920 And then he brings it back to the philosophical point of it, to the actual purpose of the lot.
00:19:39.820 What was the purpose of the lockdowns?
00:19:41.300 Was it to save lives?
00:19:43.560 It wasn't actually, not really.
00:19:48.080 It was to save lives that, that could needlessly have been lost had we overwhelmed the hospital
00:19:54.840 system, but we never came close to that.
00:19:58.200 The purpose of the lockdowns was to flatten the curve, not find a cure, flatten the curve,
00:20:04.240 flatten the curve below the capacity of the hospital system so that you didn't have a situation
00:20:08.300 where people are dying on the street because there just weren't enough beds in the hospitals,
00:20:11.800 for instance, weren't enough nurses to go around.
00:20:13.940 We never got even close to that, not even in New York, which in part because of Andrew
00:20:18.500 Cuomo's terrible policies was hit the worst.
00:20:21.140 We had the Javits Center Emergency Hospital basically completely empty.
00:20:25.240 We had that hospital ship that was sent by the federal government basically empty, unneeded.
00:20:32.320 So none of the arguments for these lockdowns turned out to be true.
00:20:36.420 What happens when circumstances change, when new evidence presents itself?
00:20:42.320 Well, good politicians adapt to that and base their policies on that and power hungry cynics
00:20:49.580 who are interested in nothing but the amassing of their own power, even at the expense of
00:20:56.500 destroying the country, like Joe Biden, like Nancy Pelosi, like the entire Democratic Party,
00:21:02.200 they don't change their mind because they're cynical about politics and it's not even that
00:21:07.060 they're liars, it's that they just don't care about the truth, not one way or the other.
00:21:12.800 What DeSantis is doing, which by the way was criticized by some of those egghead conservative
00:21:17.860 politicians, you know, the ones who they're very sophisticated, they're fancy, they're Republicans,
00:21:22.400 but they're not that kind of Republican.
00:21:24.080 Oh, they're sensible.
00:21:25.160 They listen to statistics.
00:21:26.720 They love the experts.
00:21:28.600 Please don't let me in with those crazy people like Ron DeSantis.
00:21:30.960 Well, DeSantis was right.
00:21:33.380 The courageous conservative leadership was right.
00:21:36.560 And the eggheads who followed along with the liberal establishment were completely wrong.
00:21:41.340 So who's the real conservative here?
00:21:43.780 You know, I got such a kick in 2016 when Mitt Romney, who is a liberal who invented Obamacare,
00:21:51.880 decided to lecture Donald Trump on not being a real conservative.
00:21:55.700 Mitt Romney, whose entire family comes from the liberal wing of the Republican Party, right,
00:21:59.520 goes all the way back to his father who ran for president as a liberal Republican, Mitt
00:22:03.040 Romney carrying on that tradition.
00:22:06.540 What is a real conservative?
00:22:07.920 What does that mean?
00:22:09.180 You know, I guess if you asked Mitt Romney or Jeff Flake, right, Jeff Flake put these
00:22:12.460 economic questions first.
00:22:14.660 I guess being a good conservative is giving corporations whatever they want and always
00:22:19.360 reducing barriers to trade, even if it hurts American workers and making a lot of money
00:22:24.360 and serving mammon and not thinking about anything else.
00:22:26.720 Is that what's conservative?
00:22:29.540 Again, I mean, Mitt Romney said he was very pro-choice.
00:22:33.040 Remember when he was running against Ted Kennedy for that Senate seat?
00:22:36.580 He said that he wasn't a conservative during the time of Reagan-Bush.
00:22:39.460 He didn't support Reagan-Bush.
00:22:41.000 He was an independent during Reagan-Bush.
00:22:42.260 Don't call me a conservative.
00:22:43.340 But for them, now that they pretend to be the real conservatives, basically just boils
00:22:47.520 down to making more money for at least some people.
00:22:49.840 Donald Trump, on the other hand, who's considered not a real conservative by those segments of
00:22:54.940 the right, well, he does things a little bit differently.
00:22:58.400 He will go, he will do something that in the 90s and 2000s, you weren't allowed to do as
00:23:02.280 a conservative.
00:23:03.220 He will criticize corporations.
00:23:06.420 Take a listen.
00:23:08.340 Corporations have given an enormous amount of money and the tens of millions or maybe
00:23:11.960 hundreds of millions to Black Lives Matter, which is all over a lot of these protests.
00:23:16.960 So what does that mean about these corporations?
00:23:19.020 Why are they paying that money out, Mr. President?
00:23:20.840 Because they're weak people, led by weak people, in many cases, not all corporations.
00:23:25.360 What does that mean, they're weak people?
00:23:26.080 I looked at numbers where one company is giving hundreds of millions of dollars.
00:23:29.980 When you say they're weak, what do you mean?
00:23:31.260 Explain that.
00:23:31.480 Because they just do what's the easiest path.
00:23:34.960 That's not the easy path.
00:23:35.980 That's a very dangerous path.
00:23:37.720 Black Lives Matter is a Marxist organization.
00:23:41.240 You remember pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon.
00:23:44.200 That was the first time I ever heard of Black Lives Matter.
00:23:47.300 I said, that's a terrible name.
00:23:48.820 It's so discriminatory.
00:23:50.280 It's bad for black people.
00:23:51.840 It's bad for everybody.
00:23:53.320 And all of a sudden, it becomes like sort of, although now, if you look, it's going
00:23:57.300 way down because people are tired of this stuff, what's going on, the Black Lives Matter.
00:24:01.340 If you look at what's going on with the bats and a lot of thugs.
00:24:05.320 Running through D.C. last night.
00:24:06.700 Oh, it's terrible what's going on.
00:24:08.180 But Black Lives Matter came into existence walking down the street screaming pigs in a
00:24:14.500 blanket, fry them like bacon.
00:24:16.020 And that was about police office.
00:24:17.700 That was representing police.
00:24:18.960 What Trump is saying here is that there is nothing conservative about allowing corporations to
00:24:25.880 partner with communists.
00:24:28.180 Makes perfect sense to me.
00:24:29.740 There's a segment of the right that would pretend to be the real conservatives, not like that
00:24:33.420 terrible Donald Trump who's not conservative at all.
00:24:35.420 That segment of the right would say, letting corporations do whatever they want, that's the
00:24:39.840 most conservative principle.
00:24:40.820 We can't have any barrier to, to their economic success.
00:24:45.180 We can't have any barrier to their profits.
00:24:47.520 GDP is the only measurement of how conservative a country is.
00:24:50.760 That's right.
00:24:51.960 We got, even if they're taking advantage of a lot of legal loopholes.
00:24:54.840 Oh, you're partnering with BLM self-described Marxists tearing down statues of George Washington.
00:25:00.220 Gosh, George Washington would love that.
00:25:02.320 Oh, you'd be making Abraham Lincoln so proud.
00:25:04.920 Yes, burn the country some more.
00:25:06.260 As long as you make the almighty dollar.
00:25:08.100 However, that's not a compelling argument.
00:25:12.160 Trump realizes that that is total BS, that a lot of what has been considered conservative
00:25:18.660 orthodoxy for the past, I don't know, 30 years, 30, 40 years is just ridiculous.
00:25:24.660 And there's this idea that cropped up in the 80s that among really think tank people and
00:25:29.720 kind of conservative, you know, libertarians who then became a huge influence, if not the
00:25:35.480 dominant influence in the conservative movement Republican Party, they said that basically
00:25:39.840 the essence of conservatism is free trade.
00:25:43.980 I don't think that's true.
00:25:45.460 You know, we trace our, our political party back to Abraham Lincoln.
00:25:48.300 Abraham Lincoln said that if you give me a tariff, I'll give you the greatest country
00:25:52.500 in the world.
00:25:53.360 The Republican Party was founded on tariffs.
00:25:55.540 It doesn't mean we should only have protection on trade and we should totally shut out the
00:25:59.660 rest of the world.
00:26:00.180 Nobody's ever said that, but it does mean that we need to take into account lots of
00:26:05.700 other calculations beyond GDP.
00:26:08.560 We've got to take into account the American worker for one.
00:26:11.640 We've got to take into account American loyalty for another.
00:26:15.040 We've got to take into account our politics, our trading relationships, foreign policy.
00:26:18.900 We've got to take into account a lot of things and you can't boil conservatism down to some
00:26:23.660 silly ideological bullet point in a manifesto, particularly when the effect of that is to
00:26:29.280 let very powerful organizations partner with people that want to destroy the country all
00:26:34.620 in the pursuit of a cheap buck.
00:26:36.920 Trump gets that.
00:26:37.880 That's a deeply conservative insight, much more conservative than his critics.
00:26:43.060 And it's not just all red meat, by the way.
00:26:45.380 It's not just, this is one criticism that people make of Trump.
00:26:47.800 They say, oh, Trump, he's a populist.
00:26:49.780 So he just gives the mob, whatever the mob wants to hear, and then they'll cheer him on.
00:26:54.540 Not so, not at all.
00:26:55.960 Trump was asked, you heard he was on Laura Ingraham's show there.
00:26:58.740 He was asked about conservative vigilantes.
00:27:02.380 You know, for instance, that, that kid, Kyle Rittenhouse, who went out and showed up to this
00:27:07.200 left-wing riot and was attacked and did defend himself.
00:27:11.200 But does that mean the conservatives should go out and put themselves in a provocative
00:27:15.140 situation where maybe they're going to have to return the attacks of Antifa?
00:27:19.780 With some bullets.
00:27:21.240 Trump says, far from it.
00:27:23.360 Do you want your supporters to confront the left-wing protesters?
00:27:28.740 Or do you want to leave it to law enforcement?
00:27:29.740 No, I don't want them.
00:27:30.740 I want to leave it to law enforcement.
00:27:32.160 But my supporters are wonderful, hardworking, tremendous people.
00:27:38.240 And they turn on their television set and they look at a Portland or they look at a Kenosha
00:27:43.260 before I got involved and stopped it.
00:27:45.640 Or they look at Chicago where 78 people were shot last weekend and numerous people died.
00:27:52.220 Or they look at New York where violence is up by like, what, 150 percent.
00:27:57.080 It's up by a number that nobody and people are leaving.
00:28:00.620 They're looking at all of this and they can't believe it.
00:28:04.300 That's right.
00:28:05.740 Absolutely right.
00:28:06.740 And I got to tell you, I hate to say I told you so.
00:28:09.520 I made this point on my show a day or two ago.
00:28:11.880 And maybe I made it at the end of last week.
00:28:13.460 And I caught some flack for it in the comments section because people were asking about this
00:28:17.020 Kyle Rittenhouse case, this young right-wing guy who drove about 25 minutes, half an hour
00:28:23.640 to the Kenosha riots.
00:28:25.400 And he was cleaning things up, but he armed himself because obviously it was a provocative
00:28:28.340 place.
00:28:29.100 And then he gets attacked by Antifa and he shoots three of them, right?
00:28:33.180 And he's a very good shot.
00:28:34.060 He's a better shot than these Antifa and BLM people who were attacking him.
00:28:38.260 Now he's arrested for murder.
00:28:39.760 And a lot of people are asking, well, how should we think of this?
00:28:44.660 And I said, he obviously was acting in self-defense, but he made an imprudent decision, an unadvisable
00:28:51.800 decision to go to the left-wing riots.
00:28:55.080 Conservatives basically should stay away from the left-wing riots.
00:28:58.000 They shouldn't put themselves in this kind of a provocative situation.
00:29:01.000 We should take a lesson from Johnny Cash.
00:29:03.260 Don't take your guns to town, son.
00:29:05.120 Leave your guns at home, Bill.
00:29:06.300 Don't take your guns to town.
00:29:07.440 In part because of how stacked against you the entire liberal establishment and specifically
00:29:13.500 the liberal legal establishment will be and the media and this left-wing cultural hegemony,
00:29:20.180 I guess you would call it.
00:29:21.400 Because of that, it is imprudent to go show up in a place where you're kind of looking for
00:29:28.260 trouble.
00:29:28.600 Even if you want to clean it up, even if you want to stand up to these guys, we have to
00:29:33.200 allow the civil authority to take care of that.
00:29:35.640 If the civil authority isn't going to do that, then I suppose we're in a state of all-out
00:29:40.200 anarchy.
00:29:40.780 I don't think we're quite there yet.
00:29:42.520 Obviously, it's a different situation if it's happening in your town, in your neighborhood,
00:29:45.560 outside of your building.
00:29:47.560 That's very different than getting in a car and driving 30 minutes away.
00:29:51.420 Conservatives shouldn't be looking to confront these people.
00:29:53.400 That's highly prudent advice.
00:29:55.060 And by the way, prudence is another conservative principle that has been completely forgotten in
00:29:59.800 our highly ideologized world, where so-called conservatives say that we need to have a five
00:30:05.400 bullet point manifesto and just follow that precisely with mathematical certainty.
00:30:09.520 Well, James Madison says in The Federalist, nothing could be more foolish than to found
00:30:13.520 your regime on perfectly arithmetical principles.
00:30:16.960 There is a role for prudence, for good judgment.
00:30:20.920 I actually loved when Trump said this in 2016.
00:30:23.840 Trump was asked about the transgender bathroom issue because there had been laws being passed
00:30:29.780 saying that men should use the men's room, women should use the women's room.
00:30:32.840 It makes perfect sense.
00:30:33.600 Then the federal government came in and said, no, men need to be able to use the women's
00:30:36.800 room.
00:30:37.240 They need to be able to change with the little girls in the changing rooms.
00:30:41.080 And Trump was asked, what's your policy on this?
00:30:42.760 He said, hold on, we're talking about the very few people in this country who are men
00:30:48.180 who think that they're women and they take hormones and maybe they've had a surgery to
00:30:52.040 look more like.
00:30:53.400 I don't know.
00:30:54.020 What were they doing before?
00:30:55.480 This was never a problem before.
00:30:58.080 Seems like it was fun.
00:30:59.100 It seems like you're inventing a problem.
00:31:00.380 Let's maybe just keep it the way it was and not make a problem where there isn't one.
00:31:05.400 That advice irritated left-wingers.
00:31:07.480 It also irritated conservatives who wanted some perfectly crisp policy.
00:31:11.980 Trump brought forward a political virtue called prudence.
00:31:16.200 Much, much more conservative than some of his detractors like Romney or those other sorts
00:31:21.800 of people.
00:31:23.160 It's not just Trump though.
00:31:24.660 There's another person who's much more conservative than his detractors.
00:31:27.080 We'll get to that in a second.
00:31:27.920 We'll get to Mr. Yeezy in a second.
00:31:29.520 First though, I've got to thank all of you for going over to the Michael Knowles Show YouTube

00:32:22.140 I don't want to skip too quickly over this issue of prudence because I think a lot of
00:32:38.100 conservatives don't even understand this.
00:32:40.600 Burke, you know, with a great conservative philosopher, he understood this prudence is
00:32:44.480 really important.
00:32:45.920 Making a wise judgment.
00:32:48.280 And sometimes it's not always neat and clean.
00:32:49.980 Great example.
00:32:50.880 Trump was being made fun of for this yesterday.
00:32:52.820 They were calling him the soup Nazi, like from Seinfeld, because he was describing what
00:32:57.720 these Antifa insurrectionists, what these BLM insurrectionists were doing.
00:33:03.180 They're, you know, they're throwing Molotov cocktails.
00:33:05.320 They're using bats.
00:33:06.000 Some of them have guns.
00:33:07.200 But there's one tactic that is actually pretty clever to evade capture.
00:33:12.300 They're throwing cans of soup.
00:33:15.100 Here's why.
00:33:15.980 And then they have cans of soup.
00:33:19.060 Soup.
00:33:19.980 And they throw the cans of soup.
00:33:21.920 That's better than a brick because you can't throw a brick.
00:33:24.360 It's too heavy.
00:33:25.360 But a can of soup, you can really put some power into that.
00:33:28.140 Right?
00:33:28.440 Yes, sir.
00:33:28.860 And then when they get caught, they say, no, this is soup for my family.
00:33:32.600 They're so innocent.
00:33:33.540 This is soup for my family.
00:33:36.260 It's incredible.
00:33:37.300 And you have people coming over with bags of soup, big bags of soup.
00:33:40.660 And they lay it on the ground and the anarchists take it and they start throwing it at our cops,
00:33:45.360 at our police.
00:33:46.060 And if it hits you, that's worse than a brick because it's got force.
00:33:49.620 It's the perfect size.
00:33:51.560 It's like made perfect.
00:33:53.000 And when they get caught, they say, no, this is just soup for my family.
00:33:58.040 And then the media says, this is just soup.
00:34:01.460 These people are very, very innocent.
00:34:03.540 They're innocent people.
00:34:05.540 These are just protesters.
00:34:07.720 Isn't it wonderful to allow protesting?
00:34:10.520 No.
00:34:11.440 And by the way, the media knows it better than we do.
00:34:13.980 They know what's going on.
00:34:15.080 I don't know what's wrong with them.
00:34:16.120 The media do know what's going on, but we don't have an independent media.
00:34:19.480 We don't have, we don't even have separation of powers because we're actually just governed
00:34:22.780 by the bureaucracy.
00:34:24.380 But we certainly don't have an independent media.
00:34:25.940 The media are simply the communications wing of the Democratic Party, or you could call it
00:34:30.000 more broadly the liberal establishment.
00:34:31.660 Why is he talking about soup?
00:34:33.680 He's talking about soup because this is a tactic that these thugs are using on the streets
00:34:39.140 to evade precise laws.
00:34:41.580 If they had brass knuckles or something, they could just be arrested for having that weapon.
00:34:45.860 If they were brandishing knives, or if they were brandishing even baseball bats, they could
00:34:49.660 be arrested for those weapons.
00:34:50.860 But they have the soup so that the minute the cops say, wait a second, why do you have
00:34:54.500 that soup cocked back like you're Curt Schilling or something?
00:34:57.140 They say, oh, I'm just getting ready to feed this to my family.
00:35:00.680 You can't take this.
00:35:01.460 You can't arrest me.
00:35:02.740 It's a gray area to avoid breaking a law.
00:35:05.320 And what Trump is saying is we need to use prudence.
00:35:06.940 We need to realize what these people are actually doing, not the theory.
00:35:10.080 I don't really care that much about the theory.
00:35:12.940 We care about the practice, what's really going on.
00:35:15.840 And conservatives, as a rule, should prefer what works in practice to merely what works
00:35:21.660 in theory.
00:35:22.040 You know another guy who's more conservative than Joe Biden or Jeff Flake, for that matter,
00:35:25.660 or a lot of the people we were told were conservative before the last several years?
00:35:30.480 Kanye West.
00:35:31.660 Kanye West.
00:35:32.720 Oh my gosh.
00:35:33.560 When Kanye first kind of came onto the political scene, started saying political things.
00:35:37.560 So how many sophisticated conservatives said, oh my gosh, stop it.
00:35:41.960 Go away, Kanye.
00:35:42.780 We don't want to hear from you.
00:35:44.060 Oh, Kanye.
00:35:44.900 Oh, this is so embarrassing.
00:35:46.420 We're fancy people.
00:35:47.420 We go to think tanks and eat boxed lunches and we sip Chablis.
00:35:51.300 We don't need to be listening from Kanye.
00:35:52.960 How embarrassing.
00:35:53.780 Well, guess what?
00:35:54.200 Turns out Kanye West is more conservative than the vast majority of elected Republicans
00:35:57.920 because he actually understands what the problem is.
00:36:00.980 And he's willing to go places that a lot of conservatives would not.
00:36:04.320 So you remember Nick Cannon, he was that kind of ex-child star.
00:36:07.700 I guess he's still on some TV shows or something.
00:36:09.660 Nick Cannon made these comments a few weeks ago where he was, he was criticizing the Jews
00:36:15.160 and he was calling white people animals and saying they didn't have souls and really toxic
00:36:19.020 stuff.
00:36:19.420 He almost got canceled for it, except because his racism was directed at white people and
00:36:24.520 Jews.
00:36:24.940 It didn't really stick.
00:36:25.800 And I think he was able to keep most of his employment.
00:36:27.920 So Kanye West decides to go on this show, not to agree with Nick Cannon, but to show
00:36:33.360 him issues with his political views and to try to bring him over to a more conservative
00:36:40.860 point of view.
00:36:41.700 And he focused in with brilliant precision on Planned Parenthood.
00:36:47.920 In 50 years, there's 20, there's been 22 million, over 22 million, 500,000 black people aborted
00:36:59.640 strategically and on purpose.
00:37:04.160 Planned Parenthood was set up and placed in minority communities to kill black people.
00:37:13.540 You talking about when Margaret Sanger, the originator of Planned Parenthood at the time,
00:37:20.080 because a lot of people, when you say things like that, in their defense, they say, well,
00:37:24.400 Planned Parenthood today is a different organization.
00:37:27.580 But what you cannot deny is these facts that Ye is about to give you right now.
00:37:35.000 Here we go.
00:37:35.780 Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was an avowed racist whose goal was to reduce
00:37:41.580 the black population in America, and she succeeded.
00:37:45.220 80% of abortion clinics in America are in minority neighborhoods.
00:37:50.640 Over 22,500,000 black babies have been aborted in 50 years.
00:37:56.880 So those numbers are undeniable.
00:38:00.060 Statistics, I guess.
00:38:01.440 Sometimes we can use statistics when they serve our purposes, but we should be careful about
00:38:07.520 statistics because statistics get manipulated by social scientists.
00:38:10.900 But those numbers are hard to deny.
00:38:12.880 We do know the number of babies who have been killed.
00:38:14.940 We do know that Planned Parenthood was strategically placed in minority neighborhoods.
00:38:18.420 We do know that Margaret Sanger was a racist.
00:38:20.600 You know, obviously, that word now has kind of lost all meaning, but whatever meaning it
00:38:24.020 once had, certainly she qualifies.
00:38:26.860 There's a quote that goes around all the time from Margaret Sanger that says, we don't
00:38:29.680 want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.
00:38:32.420 And what the left responds to that is they'll say, oh, she was being ironic in a letter
00:38:37.820 that she was writing to someone.
00:38:39.140 And I guess there's some validity to that.
00:38:41.900 She may have been denying that even in her quote, but you don't just need to read that
00:38:46.160 quote.
00:38:46.480 Read Woman in the New Race.
00:38:48.160 Read all of her other writings.
00:38:50.120 She was an avowed eugenicist who viewed certain undesirable populations as being subhuman, and
00:38:58.100 she wanted to eradicate them.
00:38:59.560 And that included what she viewed to be lesser races.
00:39:02.040 And that included people who had mental problems, who she suggested be snuffed out through abortion.
00:39:07.480 All of that is undeniable.
00:39:10.040 And the left obviously doesn't want to talk about it.
00:39:13.240 Many people on the right don't want to talk about it.
00:39:15.060 You know, fancy conservatives.
00:39:16.160 Kanye West is willing to talk about it.
00:39:18.480 Who's more conservative, Jeff Flake or Kanye West?
00:39:21.700 Kanye.
00:39:22.380 Kanye is.
00:39:23.700 Kanye West is, even though he's got a lot of kooky things that he says, he's more conservative
00:39:27.700 than, I would estimate, 70% of elected Republicans in the country.
00:39:33.020 And he's willing to go out and use some cultural power, like another president that we have who
00:39:37.760 happened to be a TV star and a cultural icon.
00:39:40.740 Like going over and talking to Nick Cannon, another former TV star, another cultural figure,
00:39:47.320 willing to engage on that level.
00:39:48.880 That's a very conservative thing to do.
00:39:50.760 And what's the alternative?
00:39:51.880 What's the alternative?
00:39:53.240 You know, we've been joking about all the conspiracy theories going around the internet.
00:39:56.700 Trump was asked about this.
00:39:57.720 They said, do you believe in these conspiracy theories?
00:40:00.100 He said, what conspiracy theory?
00:40:01.500 He goes, the theory is that there's a satanic group of pedophiles, cannibals, that are trying
00:40:05.660 to destroy the country.
00:40:07.240 I felt like, well, satanic.
00:40:08.620 Let's see.
00:40:09.460 The left is burning down churches and pedophiles.
00:40:13.460 I just saw a photo of Bill Clinton hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein getting a massage and
00:40:18.400 cannibals.
00:40:18.980 I saw Risa Astlan eat human brains on CNN.
00:40:22.660 Yeah, sounds about right.
00:40:23.680 Yeah, it sounds.
00:40:24.300 I don't, is that a conspiracy theory?
00:40:25.600 I can name all the people who were doing those things.
00:40:28.200 In any case, you look at these little blips, right?
00:40:31.080 The Epstein thing was one where you thought, gosh, this pedophile thing is a little weird.
00:40:35.600 Then you look at that, that show that just went on Netflix, this movie called Cuties,
00:40:40.820 which talked about how an 11 year old discovers her love of twerking and decides to, to break
00:40:46.760 up with her family because her family is too traditional and she wants to go twerk with
00:40:50.140 her other preteen friends.
00:40:51.640 I think that's weird.
00:40:52.280 Very sexualized poster.
00:40:54.800 Now, in the state of California, the left wants to legalize pederasty.
00:41:01.060 Pederasty.
00:41:01.660 Sexual relations between grown men and young boys.
00:41:05.480 They want to legalize it.
00:41:06.780 I know that sounds impossible, but it's real.
00:41:09.980 It's called SB 145.
00:41:12.220 And it just passed, by the way.
00:41:14.480 It's not even like it was some random pervert who just proposed it and it was shot down.
00:41:18.900 The 40 member state Senate in California, by a vote of 23 to 10, just passed SB 145, which
00:41:26.460 was a bill introduced by California state Senator Scott Wiener.
00:41:31.340 We have to stop electing people named Wiener.
00:41:33.600 They, they always, they always live up to the silliness of their name.
00:41:38.840 Scott Wiener is from San Francisco.
00:41:40.360 Under SB 145, if a, if an adult has gay sex with a minor 14 years or older, and that adult
00:41:51.740 is 10 years, is less than 10 years older than the person, a judge will have the discretion
00:41:58.460 on whether or not to place the individual on the sex offender registry.
00:42:03.360 So to put that in an example, you have a 23 year old guy who has sex with a 14 year
00:42:09.900 old boy.
00:42:11.460 That is not necessarily a sex crime.
00:42:13.880 That person will not necessarily be put on the sex offender registry.
00:42:18.480 There might be some other smaller punishments, but to actually register as a sex offender,
00:42:22.740 no longer have to do that.
00:42:26.180 That's weird.
00:42:27.140 What, why are we, why, why is that a bill?
00:42:30.540 Well, that's creepy and perverted and weird and, and obviously deeply wrong.
00:42:36.200 How on earth did that get through the California state Senate voting for the party?
00:42:43.620 As Jeff Flake suggests, we do voting for the party that is now actively pushing to legalize
00:42:49.140 pederasty.
00:42:49.800 Is that conservative?
00:42:50.980 I guess it's conservative in the sense that it harkens all the way back to ancient Greece
00:42:54.020 harkens back to, you know, ancient Athens and Socrates and things like that.
00:42:58.180 But that, that's a little too conservative for me.
00:43:00.100 If we're just looking at timescales here, I'd rather stick maybe around 1776 is okay
00:43:04.580 in the American tradition.
00:43:06.900 That's some radical stuff though.
00:43:08.740 And you're not going to hear about that in the mainstream media, but that is the extent
00:43:12.560 of it.
00:43:13.260 I'll give you, I'll give you one more example before we go.
00:43:15.560 This one, I guess it's not as creepy as, as the pederasty thing in California, but it's,
00:43:20.840 it's in some ways even more radical.
00:43:23.280 A commission that was just created by the mayor of Washington DC has recommended changes to
00:43:30.000 a ton of public buildings and monuments.
00:43:32.340 They want to remove Thomas Jefferson's name from federal buildings, but that, that's not
00:43:36.320 even the most ridiculous one.
00:43:38.760 They want to remove the Washington monument.
00:43:42.040 The Washington monument from Washington DC named after the father of our country.
00:43:51.960 This established by the mayor of Washington DC, which by the way, is a ridiculous office
00:43:57.220 that should not exist.
00:43:58.880 The district of Columbia is a federal district.
00:44:01.280 It's not a state.
00:44:04.240 It's not some separate territory.
00:44:07.160 That's not under the control of the federal government.
00:44:08.560 It's under the control of the federal government.
00:44:10.200 It should be governed by the federal government.
00:44:12.100 They should not have votes in Washington DC.
00:44:14.900 They should not have a representative in Washington DC.
00:44:17.680 It's not a state.
00:44:18.960 It's a federal district.
00:44:20.380 There should not be a mayor of Washington DC.
00:44:22.500 It's the nation's capital.
00:44:23.900 It's our place.
00:44:25.500 I don't think we should defer on government to the residents of Washington DC.
00:44:30.220 Probably there shouldn't be permanent residents of Washington DC.
00:44:33.440 They should live in Maryland or Virginia from which we get Washington DC.
00:44:38.340 Now you've got the mayor of our national capital trying to tear down our singular national
00:44:44.640 monument.
00:44:47.200 That's pretty radical.
00:44:49.320 That's pretty radical.
00:44:50.360 And you know, how did they arrive at this?
00:44:51.920 Well, they, they took a survey, did a town hall.
00:44:54.080 They had meetings with residents and the committee said, this committee in Washington DC said that
00:44:58.860 80% of Washington residents support a push to quote, remove or rename assets where the name
00:45:04.500 state's legacy was inconsistent with, or did not align with the district's core values of equity,
00:45:09.160 opportunity, and prosperity.
00:45:10.600 Another great example of lies, damned lies, and statistics.
00:45:13.060 The word statistics comes from the word of the state, right?
00:45:15.860 This is an invention of progressives who want more and more state statist power, which is why
00:45:21.320 generally speaking, we should ignore statistics.
00:45:23.440 But the survey was done of Washington DC residents.
00:45:25.520 I don't care what Washington DC residents think.
00:45:28.320 I don't care.
00:45:29.020 It's not, it's not their district.
00:45:30.760 It's all of our district.
00:45:32.440 It's the, it's a federal district that represents the entire country.
00:45:37.520 And now they want to tear down the Washington monument.
00:45:42.060 Washington DC mayor, you'll be shocked to find out is a Democrat.
00:45:45.300 Jeff Flakes is, ah, these Democrats, they're more conservative than Donald Trump.
00:45:50.300 Are they?
00:45:51.320 Is that, is, is tearing down the Washington monument conservative?
00:45:55.520 A bunch of fake conservatives seem to think so.
00:45:58.320 And if they're wrong on that, if they're wrong on so central a question, what else have
00:46:01.620 they been wrong about?
00:46:03.480 Maybe it's time to rethink conservatism.
00:46:06.280 Hopefully we can rethink it before they tear down the Washington monument.

00:47:12.200 Donald Trump says Joe Biden and the leftist rioters around the country are being funded
00:47:16.520 by people in the dark shadows.
00:47:18.820 People in the dark shadows say that's a conspiracy theory.
00:47:22.360 Who are those guys in the dark shadows?
00:47:24.260 Plus, we have the mostly peaceful mailbag wisdom that will burn your city to the ground.
00:47:28.740 On The Andrew Klavan Show, I'm Andrew Klavan.
