The Michael Knowles Show

Ep. 692 - Sex, Thugs, and Rock ’n’ Roll

Summary

The fake impeachment trial is officially about to begin. Both sides have submitted their briefs. The question for all of us is, will this impeachment trial, fake or real, be the greatest show on earth? Will it keep us all glued to our seats? Or will it fizzle out?

00:00:30.560 The fake impeachment trial is officially about to begin.
00:00:35.300 Both sides have submitted their briefs.
00:00:37.540 A very important to note from the outset,
00:00:40.160 this is not an impeachment trial.
00:00:43.060 This does not meet the constitutional standards of an impeachment trial.
00:00:47.780 They are not trying the president.
00:00:49.380 They are trying an ex-president.
00:00:51.700 The chief justice is not presiding.
00:00:53.760 They've just got some Dem senator presiding.
00:00:55.540 It is not an impeachment trial.
00:00:58.320 Nevertheless, they're going to pretend that it is.
00:01:01.200 The House has submitted their arguments.
00:01:03.400 Their arguments are in just a few words
00:01:06.920 that Donald Trump is singularly responsible
00:01:10.560 for the riot at the Capitol,
00:01:13.100 which was an insurrection.
00:01:14.720 And therefore we've got to remove him from the office.
00:01:17.240 He's already left.
00:01:18.020 The Trump argument and the Trump legal team
00:01:21.480 has submitted their briefs is that
00:01:23.820 President Trump is no longer the president.
00:01:26.000 He didn't incite an insurrection
00:01:27.580 and the whole thing is a farce.
00:01:29.080 So they're going to be making this constitutional argument
00:01:31.140 that none of this is legitimate whatsoever.
00:01:34.440 That is a timid,
00:01:35.800 I don't want to say a timid argument.
00:01:37.220 It's a modest argument.
00:01:38.660 It's a smaller argument.
00:01:40.460 It's not making claims about voter fraud.
00:01:42.700 It's not making claims about the Biden administration.
00:01:44.660 So the question for all of us is,
00:01:47.360 will this Trump impeachment trial,
00:01:49.200 fake or real,
00:01:50.580 be the greatest show on earth?
00:01:52.700 Will it be Trumpian?
00:01:53.960 Will it keep us all glued to our seats?
00:01:56.020 Or will it fizzle out?
00:01:57.540 I'm Michael Knowles.
00:01:58.200 This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:02:06.740 Welcome back to the show.
00:02:07.820 My favorite comment from yesterday
00:02:09.180 is from Chris1985,
00:02:11.880 who is quoting Jen Psaki,
00:02:13.500 White House Press Secretary,
00:02:14.280 when she says,
00:02:15.040 I hate to disappoint conservative Twitter.
00:02:17.360 What is conservative Twitter?
00:02:18.940 Never heard of it.
00:02:19.780 Well, actually, that's a great point
00:02:21.400 because there, obviously,
00:02:23.120 they are referring to the conservatives on Twitter
00:02:25.600 who get kicked off more and more each day
00:02:29.420 and silenced and shadow banned and censored.
00:02:31.820 Now, some people tried to create
00:02:33.580 a separate conservative Twitter,
00:02:35.400 but the left would not tolerate that.
00:02:37.080 They want us to be tame.
00:02:38.640 They want us to be easily controlled.
00:02:41.000 They want us to be pliable.
00:02:42.540 Some Republicans,
00:02:43.260 even in Republican leadership,
00:02:44.860 are going along with that.
00:02:46.740 Some are not.
00:02:47.380 And it's why this impeachment issue,
00:02:49.680 even if it's a fake impeachment trial,
00:02:51.320 it's why this impeachment issue
00:02:52.440 and this Trump issue
00:02:53.480 is going to have a very,
00:02:54.520 very, very long tail.
00:02:56.700 If you want to know what's happening in the future,
00:03:00.920 if you want to understand what's happening in the present,
00:03:03.340 you can't do all of that without some knowledge
00:03:05.220 of what's happening in the past,
00:03:07.580 that knowledge of history.
00:03:08.560 You can't do that without a basic knowledge of,
00:03:10.940 oh, I don't know,
00:03:12.060 mathematics,
00:03:12.740 a basic knowledge of language,
00:03:14.180 a basic knowledge of everything
00:03:15.760 that we need to make sense of our world.
00:03:17.480 One great way to do it,
00:03:18.940 The Great Courses Plus.

00:04:27.980 I love The Great Courses Plus.
00:04:29.740 Go check them out.
00:04:33.460 Trump never seems to go away.
00:04:36.580 Trump, I'm glad.
00:04:37.900 I miss Trump.
00:04:38.540 I'm sort of glad
00:04:39.500 we're going to get to see him on TV.
00:04:41.260 The left has completely
00:04:42.460 shut him up,
00:04:44.200 deplatformed him,
00:04:45.000 and taken him out of life.
00:04:46.260 But they can't let him all go
00:04:47.500 all at once
00:04:48.420 because they need him.
00:04:49.800 For some reason,
00:04:51.000 Trump represents something
00:04:52.620 that will not go away.
00:04:54.060 It represents,
00:04:55.300 he represents this debate
00:04:57.800 over the direction
00:04:58.460 of the Republican Party
00:04:59.460 and ultimately,
00:05:00.700 the direction of the country.
00:05:03.580 Now, you know,
00:05:04.280 there is someone
00:05:04.940 in House Republican leadership
00:05:06.500 who voted
00:05:09.080 to impeach Donald Trump.
00:05:10.520 I know this seems
00:05:12.300 completely insane
00:05:13.440 that the Republican Party,
00:05:15.020 which overwhelmingly
00:05:15.840 supports Donald Trump,
00:05:17.200 still,
00:05:17.920 majority of Republicans,
00:05:18.960 according to recent polls,
00:05:19.780 want him to be the nominee
00:05:21.700 in 2024.
00:05:23.340 Okay?
00:05:24.780 As far as I can tell,
00:05:25.820 unprecedented
00:05:26.460 sort of support
00:05:27.640 for this guy
00:05:28.180 within his own party.
00:05:30.480 Someone in the leadership
00:05:31.460 of the Republican Party
00:05:32.440 in the House
00:05:33.020 would vote for his impeachment.
00:05:34.620 Seems strange.
00:05:35.160 That would be Liz Cheney.
00:05:36.540 Now, Mitch McConnell,
00:05:37.560 Senate Majority Leader,
00:05:38.460 has come out
00:05:39.920 and defended Liz Cheney.
00:05:41.640 He says,
00:05:42.100 Liz Cheney is a leader
00:05:43.560 with deep convictions
00:05:44.880 and the courage
00:05:45.820 to act on them.
00:05:49.740 Okay?
00:05:51.280 That's it?
00:05:52.000 That's all you can muster?
00:05:54.260 Barack Obama
00:05:55.100 is a leader
00:05:57.000 with deep convictions
00:05:57.920 and the courage
00:05:58.460 to act on them.
00:06:00.360 He is a leader.
00:06:01.560 Some people took issue
00:06:02.460 with this
00:06:02.740 when I pointed it out
00:06:03.640 on the internet.
00:06:05.500 Said, no,
00:06:06.560 he's not a leader.
00:06:07.420 He's a terrible person.
00:06:08.880 Terrible people
00:06:09.500 can be leaders.
00:06:11.080 World history
00:06:11.900 is rife
00:06:12.980 with examples of that.
00:06:15.540 He is a leader.
00:06:16.440 He led.
00:06:16.800 He was President
00:06:17.160 of the United States.
00:06:17.820 He won re-election.
00:06:18.780 He changed the country.
00:06:19.660 He was extraordinarily influential.
00:06:21.540 He has deep convictions
00:06:22.320 and he had the courage
00:06:23.080 to act on them.
00:06:25.600 That in and of itself
00:06:26.940 does not qualify somebody
00:06:28.400 to be in Republican leadership.
00:06:31.520 The question is,
00:06:33.100 what are the convictions?
00:06:34.760 The question is,
00:06:37.380 where are you leading
00:06:38.640 your followers?
00:06:41.620 And the question
00:06:42.420 for,
00:06:43.700 for,
00:06:44.120 regarding Liz Cheney
00:06:45.280 right now is,
00:06:46.660 do Republicans
00:06:48.520 believe
00:06:49.100 that this woman
00:06:50.280 and her convictions
00:06:51.420 and her leadership
00:06:52.300 best represents
00:06:54.160 their party?
00:06:54.720 It's,
00:06:54.900 it's hard to imagine how.
00:06:56.420 In a way,
00:06:57.400 it's quite courageous
00:06:58.560 that Liz Cheney
00:06:59.640 just hated Trump
00:07:00.820 so much.
00:07:01.420 She felt so
00:07:02.220 convicted
00:07:03.540 about this issue
00:07:04.300 of impeachment
00:07:04.780 that she,
00:07:05.200 she decided
00:07:05.700 she had to vote
00:07:06.360 to impeach
00:07:07.180 the Republican president.
00:07:08.200 I think it was
00:07:08.500 a stupid vote.
00:07:09.600 I don't,
00:07:09.920 I do not think
00:07:11.040 in,
00:07:11.860 in any reasonable world
00:07:13.440 he committed
00:07:13.860 an impeachable offense.
00:07:16.240 A second impeachable offense.
00:07:18.260 Don't forget,
00:07:18.560 it was the second impeachment
00:07:19.340 vote against Trump.
00:07:21.960 But fine,
00:07:22.740 Liz Cheney thinks that.
00:07:23.620 That's fine.
00:07:24.220 If she's going to take
00:07:25.020 that courageous vote,
00:07:25.680 she's got to deal
00:07:26.100 with the consequences.
00:07:26.980 Namely,
00:07:27.720 she is not fit
00:07:28.660 for Republican leadership.
00:07:30.000 She does not represent
00:07:31.100 the views
00:07:31.540 of the Republican Party.
00:07:32.980 She might represent
00:07:33.760 the views
00:07:34.140 of a certain type
00:07:35.040 of leadership class.
00:07:35.960 You see,
00:07:36.580 George W. Bush
00:07:37.460 came out
00:07:37.840 and defended Liz Cheney.
00:07:38.880 Mitch McConnell
00:07:39.400 now defending Liz Cheney.
00:07:40.860 Fine.
00:07:41.420 I'm not saying
00:07:41.960 kick her out of Congress.
00:07:43.080 I'm not saying
00:07:43.740 kick her out
00:07:44.120 of the Republican Party.
00:07:45.700 In a way,
00:07:46.500 it's sort of admirable
00:07:47.280 that she has that courage
00:07:48.500 of her convictions.
00:07:49.460 It's too bad
00:07:50.120 because her reasoning
00:07:50.840 was extremely flawed
00:07:52.040 when she took that vote.
00:07:53.960 But fine,
00:07:54.640 great,
00:07:55.020 she's got that courage,
00:07:56.140 got those convictions.
00:07:57.640 Now,
00:07:58.220 you need to deal
00:07:59.240 with the consequences
00:08:00.140 of that.
00:08:01.920 It's preposterous.
00:08:03.880 And presumably,
00:08:05.160 she's going to remain
00:08:05.840 in leadership.
00:08:06.520 I don't see a major revolt.
00:08:08.380 The only congressman,
00:08:09.380 the only prominent Republican
00:08:10.860 who's really come out
00:08:11.760 and said Liz Cheney
00:08:12.400 doesn't belong in leadership
00:08:13.240 is Matt Gaetz.
00:08:15.140 But assuming that's not enough,
00:08:17.740 assuming she stays
00:08:18.320 in leadership,
00:08:19.480 this is going to increase
00:08:21.040 the divide
00:08:21.720 between the GOP
00:08:23.000 leadership class
00:08:23.800 and the GOP base.
00:08:26.220 your courage matters
00:08:30.200 and your leadership matters,
00:08:31.640 but you need to have
00:08:32.380 the right convictions.
00:08:33.340 This is something
00:08:33.700 we've talked about
00:08:34.200 a lot on this show,
00:08:35.280 how we've tricked ourselves
00:08:36.780 for many years
00:08:37.480 into thinking that
00:08:38.320 all that mattered
00:08:40.040 was the form of politics.
00:08:42.320 The substance of the politics
00:08:43.880 didn't matter.
00:08:44.440 So we just,
00:08:45.200 we support free speech.
00:08:46.860 We don't support
00:08:47.740 saying anything in particular,
00:08:49.000 but we just,
00:08:49.640 we just support free speech.
00:08:50.740 We support religious liberty.
00:08:52.400 We don't believe
00:08:53.000 in anything ourselves,
00:08:53.920 but we just support
00:08:54.540 religious liberty.
00:08:55.540 That's not enough.
00:08:57.200 The left has form
00:08:58.320 and substance
00:08:59.340 in their politics
00:09:00.040 and it's really dangerous,
00:09:01.320 but it's very effective
00:09:02.260 and we need to
00:09:03.460 get a little bit more courage.
00:09:05.540 Give you an example
00:09:06.160 of one of the radicals
00:09:07.080 in the Democratic Party,
00:09:08.120 Rafael Warnock,
00:09:10.160 this radical leftist,
00:09:13.200 a socialist,
00:09:14.600 who when he was helping
00:09:16.000 to run a church,
00:09:17.820 invited Fidel Castro.
00:09:20.740 to go there,
00:09:21.560 who said that you can't serve God
00:09:22.820 in the U.S. military,
00:09:24.320 who said many,
00:09:24.940 many radical things
00:09:25.740 in his life.
00:09:27.400 Rafael Warnock
00:09:28.300 just came out
00:09:29.200 and said
00:09:30.600 that we need to institute
00:09:33.480 widespread unsolicited
00:09:34.600 mail-in votes
00:09:35.320 forever.
00:09:38.300 We,
00:09:38.600 this is essential
00:09:39.400 to voting integrity.
00:09:41.100 He pushed back against
00:09:42.660 people who were trying
00:09:44.260 to do the opposite.
00:09:44.920 He said,
00:09:45.340 this is shameful.
00:09:46.660 We need to swiftly pass
00:09:48.100 the For the People Act.
00:09:49.800 Whatever.
00:09:50.720 Goodness gracious.
00:09:51.540 In the whole scope
00:09:53.420 of shameless legislation names,
00:09:55.180 and a lot of them
00:09:55.660 are pretty shameless,
00:09:57.020 For the People Act,
00:09:58.620 give me a break,
00:09:59.380 to strengthen access
00:10:00.520 to the ballot
00:10:01.260 and prevent voter suppression
00:10:03.300 from silencing our voices.
00:10:05.340 And you can,
00:10:06.000 if you want to actually
00:10:06.700 interpret that into English,
00:10:07.980 he wants to take away
00:10:09.140 election integrity measures
00:10:10.280 and make it easier
00:10:11.360 for Democrat machines
00:10:12.340 to steal elections.
00:10:13.260 That's what this whole thing
00:10:14.020 is about.
00:10:14.360 We Republicans
00:10:16.160 need to get serious
00:10:18.880 about this
00:10:19.360 and get tough
00:10:20.400 and it's going to require us
00:10:22.020 to actually put our convictions
00:10:22.940 on the table
00:10:23.580 and come out and say,
00:10:25.140 we need to get rid
00:10:26.020 of widespread mail-ins,
00:10:27.120 make them illegal
00:10:28.320 in places.
00:10:29.320 We need to get rid
00:10:30.520 of the drop boxes
00:10:31.520 for the ballots,
00:10:32.500 make those illegal.
00:10:34.000 We need to take
00:10:35.280 election season
00:10:36.280 and get rid of all
00:10:37.620 those extra days
00:10:38.300 where you can vote
00:10:38.860 and make it election day
00:10:40.260 again.
00:10:40.720 This is possibly
00:10:42.740 an existential matter
00:10:43.920 for our representative government
00:10:45.740 and I know
00:10:46.460 a lot of Republicans
00:10:47.140 are not going to want to do it
00:10:47.960 because here's what
00:10:48.420 they're going to say.
00:10:49.580 They're going to say,
00:10:50.100 Michael,
00:10:50.820 if with all these things,
00:10:53.280 all the mail-in
00:10:54.120 and the drop box
00:10:55.480 and you know,
00:10:56.340 you start voting
00:10:57.020 18 months before election day,
00:10:59.060 if that will encourage
00:11:01.120 even one more person
00:11:02.240 to vote,
00:11:03.380 well,
00:11:03.700 don't we have to do that
00:11:05.160 just to,
00:11:06.300 because we have to increase
00:11:07.720 the voting
00:11:08.300 for everybody,
00:11:10.460 people who are unwilling
00:11:12.000 to get themselves out of bed
00:11:13.280 and actually vote
00:11:13.860 on election day?
00:11:14.520 We need,
00:11:14.780 we need them to vote.
00:11:15.720 No,
00:11:16.080 we don't.
00:11:16.700 We don't.
00:11:18.060 And all,
00:11:18.700 all of that is
00:11:19.420 sort of a facade
00:11:21.260 to cover up the purpose
00:11:22.860 of these measures
00:11:23.440 which is actually
00:11:24.200 to,
00:11:25.440 to get rid of
00:11:26.340 election integrity.
00:11:28.320 We need to come out there
00:11:29.680 and be able
00:11:30.200 to say that.
00:11:31.380 Now,
00:11:31.960 the,
00:11:32.140 the most persuasive
00:11:33.220 argument for this,
00:11:34.140 I think,
00:11:34.500 is that
00:11:35.080 every illegal vote
00:11:37.360 that is cast
00:11:38.040 disenfranchises
00:11:39.080 a legal voter.
00:11:40.460 So,
00:11:41.100 actually,
00:11:41.620 the real voter suppression
00:11:42.580 is getting rid
00:11:43.500 of election integrity
00:11:44.280 and promoting fraud.
00:11:46.520 But,
00:11:47.160 I don't know
00:11:48.420 that the,
00:11:48.860 the persuasion
00:11:50.040 is really the key here.
00:11:52.300 Do you ever notice
00:11:53.000 this with the left?
00:11:53.640 The left has such
00:11:54.200 radical plans.
00:11:55.420 I mean,
00:11:55.900 within the first week
00:11:56.960 and,
00:11:58.000 week or two weeks
00:11:58.840 in,
00:11:59.100 in Joe Biden's administration,
00:12:00.620 he obliterated
00:12:01.600 girls' sports
00:12:02.480 and the women's bathroom,
00:12:03.760 right,
00:12:04.100 through executive order.
00:12:05.100 not very popular stuff.
00:12:07.900 But the left
00:12:08.640 doesn't care
00:12:09.460 because what the left
00:12:11.220 lacks in persuasive power,
00:12:13.580 they make up for,
00:12:15.040 more than make up for,
00:12:16.600 in the willingness
00:12:17.580 to exercise
00:12:18.620 the political power
00:12:19.780 that they've given
00:12:20.800 or that they've outright
00:12:21.660 taken.
00:12:23.080 And Republicans
00:12:23.960 don't have that.
00:12:24.760 We,
00:12:24.980 oh,
00:12:25.160 we love persuading.
00:12:26.520 We love talking
00:12:27.980 about the free marketplace
00:12:28.800 of ideas.
00:12:29.420 We love think tanks.
00:12:30.800 We love debates.
00:12:32.140 We love all that
00:12:32.800 sort of stuff.
00:12:35.000 I,
00:12:35.120 I'm persuading right now,
00:12:36.900 right,
00:12:37.020 this is one of the few areas
00:12:38.220 that conservatives
00:12:38.860 have any sort of leverage in
00:12:40.760 is in
00:12:41.780 certain
00:12:42.840 small segments
00:12:43.940 of
00:12:44.500 alternative media.
00:12:47.060 But what about
00:12:47.840 the elected guys?
00:12:48.960 What about the guys
00:12:49.840 working in the government?
00:12:51.400 Why can't they do
00:12:52.200 their job?
00:12:53.620 Namely,
00:12:54.160 the exercise
00:12:54.860 of the political power
00:12:55.980 that they've been given.
00:12:56.800 Because we can persuade
00:13:00.180 and persuade
00:13:00.660 and persuade
00:13:01.180 until we're blue in the face.
00:13:02.960 If we're not willing
00:13:03.900 to actually exercise
00:13:05.080 political power,
00:13:05.940 that will all be for naught.
00:13:09.380 And if we don't fix
00:13:10.460 this election integrity issue,
00:13:12.240 we're not,
00:13:12.580 we're not going to have
00:13:13.300 very much political power
00:13:14.560 in the future,
00:13:15.860 at least not in the races
00:13:16.660 that count.
00:13:17.160 There's a headline
00:13:17.740 out of 538.
00:13:19.300 This is a Nate Silver's
00:13:20.020 publication.
00:13:21.180 It's called,
00:13:21.840 Where Did All the Bellwether
00:13:22.780 Counties Go?
00:13:25.420 Here,
00:13:25.820 Ryan Matsumoto,
00:13:27.180 who is the,
00:13:27.680 the author,
00:13:29.060 is examining how
00:13:30.100 all those bellwether counties
00:13:32.440 that have predicted
00:13:33.320 the presidential elections
00:13:34.860 for decades,
00:13:36.180 the vast majority of them
00:13:37.980 somehow got it wrong
00:13:39.440 in 2020.
00:13:40.980 Isn't that a little strange?
00:13:41.880 What does that say
00:13:42.380 about the 2020 election?
00:13:43.500 We'll get to
00:13:44.280 exactly what it does say
00:13:45.840 because the answer
00:13:46.920 doesn't have to be
00:13:47.780 conspiratorial.
00:13:49.460 It's right,
00:13:49.920 actually,
00:13:50.220 it's right in front
00:13:50.760 of our faces.
00:13:52.940 This is a,
00:13:53.800 a time of great instability.
00:13:55.820 And it's instability
00:13:57.280 in politics,
00:13:58.200 it's instability
00:13:58.680 in the stock market
00:13:59.920 we've seen.
00:14:00.700 It's a great time
00:14:01.580 to look into
00:14:03.420 investing in precious metals.
00:14:04.740 Here's something new.
00:14:05.980 You know that the price
00:14:07.420 of gold has been
00:14:08.380 skyrocketing lately.
00:14:10.360 Well,
00:14:10.840 there is a new way
00:14:11.500 to buy gold
00:14:12.140 through a company
00:14:12.740 called Acre.
00:14:13.560 Acre lets you subscribe
00:14:14.740 to gold bars
00:14:15.480 for as little as $30
00:14:16.700 a month.
00:14:17.700 You pay each month
00:14:18.580 once your gold stash
00:14:19.920 reaches the price
00:14:20.760 of their gold bars,
00:14:21.860 they will discreetly ship
00:14:23.200 Acre gold
00:14:23.820 to your house.
00:14:24.780 Great way to invest
00:14:25.620 in gold
00:14:26.000 when you think,
00:14:26.660 you know,
00:14:27.120 hmm,
00:14:27.440 borrow gold
00:14:27.880 costs a ton of money
00:14:28.820 and I don't have
00:14:29.560 a ton of money
00:14:30.020 lying around.
00:14:30.600 Well,
00:14:30.980 now you can invest
00:14:32.280 in that kind of
00:14:33.000 physical gold
00:14:33.580 in a way that will
00:14:34.420 work for you.
00:14:35.800 Also,
00:14:36.280 you know how there's
00:14:36.820 a nationwide shortage
00:14:38.080 of ammo right now?
00:14:39.280 Well,
00:14:39.680 Acre is crafting,
00:14:40.780 I kid you not,
00:14:41.440 a solid gold 24 carat
00:14:43.220 9 millimeter bullet.
00:14:45.660 You cannot find
00:14:46.720 anything like these
00:14:47.480 on the internet.
00:14:48.240 They're only making
00:14:48.900 a thousand of these,
00:14:50.020 so they're going fast.
00:14:50.980 These are the first
00:14:52.440 products coming out
00:14:53.200 of Acre's new
00:14:53.840 special products division.
00:14:55.720 To be clear,
00:14:56.460 these are not
00:14:56.820 shootable bullets.
00:14:57.580 I don't know why
00:14:57.920 you'd want to shoot
00:14:58.580 a solid gold bullet out
00:14:59.760 unless you're trying
00:15:00.340 to kill a werewolf
00:15:00.980 or something,
00:15:01.540 but I would just,
00:15:02.420 I would just keep it.
00:15:03.380 It's a nice investment.
00:15:04.080 It looks really cool.

00:15:09.840 because Acre
00:15:10.700 is giving away
00:15:11.680 a gold bar.
00:15:12.560 To qualify for the giveaway,
00:15:14.180 just tweet or post
00:15:15.000 why you should be
00:15:15.540 the recipient.
00:15:16.600 Mention at
00:15:17.340 get underscore Acre.
00:15:19.000 That is getacregold.com
00:15:20.600 slash Michael.
00:15:21.260 Thank you Acre Gold
00:15:21.980 for supporting the show.
00:15:23.500 You know,
00:15:23.940 I've mentioned
00:15:24.620 that I have enjoyed
00:15:25.520 keeping a portion
00:15:26.700 of my portfolio
00:15:27.320 in precious metals.
00:15:28.700 A lot of conservatives
00:15:29.480 enjoy that.
00:15:30.820 Now more than ever,
00:15:31.860 I think it's a pretty,
00:15:32.660 pretty appealing option.
00:15:34.780 Go check out Acre Gold.
00:15:37.980 So 538 wants to know,
00:15:39.580 where did all
00:15:39.860 the bellwether counties go?
00:15:41.820 From 1980 to 2016,
00:15:43.900 19 counties voted
00:15:45.120 for the winner
00:15:45.680 of the presidential election
00:15:46.880 every single time.
00:15:49.900 The most impressive
00:15:50.920 of those was
00:15:51.600 Valencia County,
00:15:52.440 New Mexico,
00:15:53.320 which voted for the victor
00:15:54.520 in every presidential election
00:15:56.040 from 1952 to 2016.
00:16:00.860 But in 2020,
00:16:03.100 18 of these 19
00:16:04.900 bellwether counties
00:16:06.060 voted for Donald Trump.
00:16:09.580 Just one,
00:16:10.920 Clallam County,
00:16:11.820 Washington,
00:16:13.160 voted for Joe Biden.
00:16:14.840 So then they spend
00:16:18.180 lots and lots of ink
00:16:19.580 asking where did
00:16:20.560 the bellwether counties go?
00:16:22.280 Where did they all,
00:16:23.060 isn't that so weird?
00:16:26.680 Facts like this
00:16:28.000 will buttress
00:16:29.300 people who have questions
00:16:31.100 about the presidential election.
00:16:34.320 Questions about,
00:16:35.380 you know,
00:16:36.680 boxes of ballots in Georgia
00:16:38.200 and pipes bursting
00:16:39.560 and all these sorts
00:16:41.060 of irregularities.
00:16:42.420 Thousands of votes,
00:16:44.600 you know,
00:16:45.160 accidentally being missed
00:16:46.760 or discounted
00:16:47.680 or they're only added later.
00:16:49.280 Going to add
00:16:50.060 a lot of fuel
00:16:51.600 to those,
00:16:52.760 to that fire
00:16:53.540 of election doubt.
00:16:56.280 However,
00:16:57.920 I'm,
00:16:58.440 I'm not,
00:16:59.380 I'm not discounting that.
00:17:00.540 You know,
00:17:00.800 if there's evidence
00:17:01.520 of these things happening
00:17:02.440 and it being widespread,
00:17:03.240 we've talked about this
00:17:03.740 on the show a lot,
00:17:04.520 more than open
00:17:05.520 to looking at that evidence.
00:17:07.880 Hope,
00:17:08.140 hope there is evidence,
00:17:09.040 hope we can see it.
00:17:10.180 But obviously,
00:17:10.760 even if there were,
00:17:11.400 it's very difficult
00:17:12.000 to show this stuff.
00:17:12.940 Even,
00:17:13.080 even in 1948,
00:17:14.460 you know,
00:17:14.740 I keep going back
00:17:15.460 to this election
00:17:15.940 because it's so famous
00:17:16.820 and so consequential.
00:17:18.780 LBJ stole a Senate seat
00:17:20.400 in Texas.
00:17:21.380 This has been extraordinarily
00:17:22.160 well documented
00:17:23.080 most recently
00:17:23.820 by Robert Caro,
00:17:24.940 who is sort of
00:17:25.480 the preeminent
00:17:26.200 LBJ biographer.
00:17:29.080 He,
00:17:29.200 he notes this
00:17:30.200 in Means of Ascent.
00:17:31.300 1948,
00:17:32.120 LBJ,
00:17:32.660 who'd been stealing elections
00:17:33.560 since college,
00:17:34.840 who'd been stealing elections
00:17:35.860 for his staff club presidency
00:17:38.320 at,
00:17:38.760 when he was working
00:17:39.440 as a staffer
00:17:40.100 on Capitol Hill.
00:17:41.380 This guy stole the,
00:17:43.060 the election
00:17:43.800 by stuffing the ballot boxes
00:17:45.240 in Texas.
00:17:46.480 He won by
00:17:47.520 a statistically impossible margin.
00:17:49.960 He then,
00:17:50.640 this goes up to the Supreme Court.
00:17:51.900 The Supreme Court
00:17:52.240 won't even look into it.
00:17:53.300 They just say,
00:17:53.800 we don't have jurisdiction here.
00:17:54.980 Goes back to the state.
00:17:56.580 LBJ becomes senator.
00:17:57.760 LBJ becomes vice president.
00:17:58.960 LBJ becomes president.
00:18:00.080 LBJ dies.
00:18:02.140 And then,
00:18:02.940 all those years later,
00:18:03.900 they say,
00:18:04.200 look at that.
00:18:04.560 It was a fraudulent vote.
00:18:06.360 So,
00:18:07.500 sure,
00:18:07.720 these things happen.
00:18:09.500 However,
00:18:10.120 there's a simpler answer here
00:18:11.460 to what's going on
00:18:12.500 with these bellwether counties.
00:18:14.580 Let's say,
00:18:15.300 forget about all the theories
00:18:17.320 that various people
00:18:18.460 have posited
00:18:19.280 about the voting machines
00:18:20.820 and even about
00:18:22.100 pipes bursting
00:18:23.140 and even about
00:18:24.100 thumb drives going missing,
00:18:25.640 whatever.
00:18:26.660 Just consider this.
00:18:28.980 We changed all the election rules
00:18:30.920 weeks and months
00:18:31.540 before the election.
00:18:34.020 Right?
00:18:34.200 In,
00:18:34.460 in places that mattered,
00:18:35.780 we radically upended
00:18:37.320 the election rules
00:18:38.360 in Pennsylvania
00:18:40.340 in contravention
00:18:41.040 of the state constitution.
00:18:43.660 So,
00:18:44.560 even if,
00:18:45.640 even if there's nothing
00:18:46.640 behind the scenes
00:18:47.980 hidden nefarious
00:18:49.500 going on,
00:18:50.560 is it any wonder
00:18:52.200 that if you change
00:18:53.340 the rules of the election,
00:18:54.600 you're going to have
00:18:56.060 different outcomes
00:18:56.820 in bellwether counties?
00:18:58.280 The bellwether counties
00:18:59.320 are only bellwether
00:19:00.180 in normal elections,
00:19:03.140 right?
00:19:03.300 In elections where the rules
00:19:04.360 remain the same.
00:19:04.940 If you completely change
00:19:06.080 the rules of the game,
00:19:06.920 then those counties
00:19:07.580 aren't going to tell you
00:19:08.260 anything.
00:19:08.600 They are fine-tuned
00:19:09.640 to tell you about
00:19:10.720 the old rules.
00:19:11.380 But what the left did
00:19:12.180 is they went in
00:19:13.020 and completely changed
00:19:13.900 the rules to make
00:19:14.680 them advantageous
00:19:15.640 to themselves
00:19:16.460 and,
00:19:17.100 and harmful to us.
00:19:20.120 And we don't even
00:19:21.040 have the hoots
00:19:21.540 but to come out
00:19:22.100 and say,
00:19:22.480 hey,
00:19:22.720 get rid of the
00:19:23.220 widespread mail-in.
00:19:24.580 Get rid of election month.
00:19:26.100 Get rid of all that.
00:19:27.740 You guys are cheaters.
00:19:29.740 You're,
00:19:29.980 you're,
00:19:30.320 I'll,
00:19:30.880 I'll even pull back
00:19:31.820 from cheating
00:19:32.320 because they,
00:19:32.980 they did it out
00:19:33.580 in the open,
00:19:34.080 right?
00:19:35.540 In the case of
00:19:36.300 Pennsylvania,
00:19:36.680 I guess they did cheat
00:19:37.880 because what they did
00:19:38.500 was unconstitutional.
00:19:39.840 But forget cheating.
00:19:43.120 Let's just focus
00:19:43.700 on rigging.
00:19:44.820 They reoriented
00:19:46.320 the system
00:19:47.060 so that it would be
00:19:48.600 more advantageous
00:19:50.440 to them.
00:19:52.240 That is
00:19:53.140 what politicians
00:19:54.380 do.
00:19:55.600 In a way,
00:19:56.480 you have to admire it.
00:19:57.360 Just,
00:19:57.620 just like you have
00:19:58.200 to admire the
00:19:58.920 people who have
00:19:59.920 leadership and convictions
00:20:01.040 and courage
00:20:01.660 who are on the
00:20:02.060 other side.
00:20:02.940 It's very bad
00:20:03.560 for the country,
00:20:04.220 but you say,
00:20:04.560 well,
00:20:04.660 at least you're
00:20:05.040 exercising political
00:20:05.840 power.
00:20:06.480 What are our guys
00:20:07.120 doing?
00:20:08.080 Absolutely,
00:20:09.120 absolutely nothing.
00:20:11.260 And for the handful
00:20:12.600 of people
00:20:13.120 who come out
00:20:14.260 and say,
00:20:14.980 guys,
00:20:15.560 this is wrong.
00:20:16.800 We need to look
00:20:17.560 into this.
00:20:18.560 I'm going to object
00:20:19.460 to some of these votes.
00:20:20.580 I'm talking about
00:20:21.100 guys like Ted Cruz,
00:20:22.700 Josh Hawley,
00:20:24.180 other people.
00:20:25.680 What does the left
00:20:26.540 say?
00:20:26.840 The left comes out,
00:20:27.560 tries to ruin
00:20:28.200 their careers.
00:20:29.220 AOC,
00:20:29.700 I kid you not,
00:20:31.440 came out.
00:20:31.820 She's been calling
00:20:32.380 Ted Cruz and
00:20:33.120 Josh Hawley
00:20:33.620 murderers because
00:20:35.460 she said,
00:20:36.740 she came out early
00:20:37.400 on and said that
00:20:38.060 nearly half the
00:20:39.040 members of Congress
00:20:39.820 were killed
00:20:40.460 in,
00:20:41.680 in the riot
00:20:43.220 at the Capitol.
00:20:44.060 Of course,
00:20:44.560 no member of Congress
00:20:45.360 was even injured,
00:20:46.340 but just,
00:20:47.240 they were all,
00:20:47.520 almost half of us
00:20:48.480 were killed.
00:20:49.080 And then she said,
00:20:50.140 Ted Cruz is trying
00:20:51.000 to murder me.
00:20:51.840 And now she's saying
00:20:53.080 that guys like
00:20:53.800 Cruz and Hawley
00:20:54.460 are tantamount
00:20:55.820 to rapists.
00:20:57.320 I'm a survivor
00:20:58.280 of sexual,
00:20:59.700 assault.
00:21:01.720 And I haven't
00:21:02.700 told many people
00:21:03.440 that in my life.
00:21:04.720 When I see
00:21:06.280 a party
00:21:08.280 who cheered
00:21:09.640 on violence,
00:21:11.260 violence that
00:21:13.100 killed five,
00:21:14.560 maybe now six
00:21:15.240 people,
00:21:15.680 a second Capitol
00:21:16.420 police officer
00:21:17.180 took their life
00:21:18.020 in the aftermath
00:21:18.900 of the attack
00:21:21.020 this past week.
00:21:23.240 These people
00:21:24.100 are just trying
00:21:24.700 to tell us
00:21:25.460 it's not a big deal.
00:21:27.760 and they're
00:21:29.580 trying to say
00:21:30.520 you're making
00:21:31.680 too big a deal
00:21:32.480 over it.
00:21:34.020 Or,
00:21:34.820 my favorite,
00:21:37.680 this past week,
00:21:40.200 Ted Cruz
00:21:42.100 and now
00:21:42.700 representatives
00:21:43.960 Chip Roy
00:21:44.680 and, oh,
00:21:45.440 by the way,
00:21:45.780 some of the
00:21:46.080 other representatives
00:21:46.760 who actually
00:21:47.600 encouraged people
00:21:48.920 to threaten
00:21:49.360 members of Congress
00:21:50.200 or tweeted out
00:21:50.940 the location
00:21:51.440 of the speaker
00:21:51.980 are now telling
00:21:52.920 me to apologize
00:21:54.000 for saying
00:21:56.300 and speaking
00:21:57.900 truth
00:21:58.560 to what happened.
00:22:01.100 These are the
00:22:01.800 tactics of abusers.
00:22:04.000 Or rather,
00:22:04.740 these are the tactics
00:22:05.480 that abusers use.
00:22:07.320 I don't know
00:22:07.960 why she makes
00:22:08.440 that distinction
00:22:08.980 because it means
00:22:09.540 the same thing.
00:22:10.180 So she's saying
00:22:10.720 Ted Cruz,
00:22:11.960 because he followed
00:22:12.980 a constitutional process
00:22:14.320 and voiced
00:22:16.700 his objections
00:22:17.440 to some of
00:22:18.860 the irregularities
00:22:19.640 on the record,
00:22:20.420 he's a murderer.
00:22:22.340 He tried to murder me.
00:22:24.020 And when
00:22:24.980 Cruz and
00:22:26.240 Hawley and some
00:22:26.960 of these other guys
00:22:27.720 came out and said,
00:22:29.100 apologize to us.
00:22:30.900 You can't call us
00:22:31.800 murderers.
00:22:32.640 That's so wrong.
00:22:33.280 She says,
00:22:33.720 oh yeah,
00:22:34.100 you're rapists too.
00:22:36.020 She says,
00:22:36.380 I was sexually assaulted.
00:22:37.860 I've never told
00:22:38.300 anybody this,
00:22:38.860 but I was sexually assaulted
00:22:39.780 and you are
00:22:41.580 just like rapists.
00:22:43.860 So I guess
00:22:44.580 the breaking news here
00:22:45.980 is that AOC says
00:22:46.800 she was sexually assaulted.
00:22:48.900 The question you have
00:22:49.820 to ask is,
00:22:50.280 is that true?
00:22:51.960 Maybe.
00:22:52.660 Maybe it was true.
00:22:53.420 I don't know.
00:22:54.100 If people make
00:22:56.680 that kind of a claim,
00:22:57.540 it's a claim
00:22:57.880 you want to take seriously.
00:22:59.300 The trouble with AOC
00:23:00.380 is that she's
00:23:01.380 a pathological liar.
00:23:02.840 She's lied brazenly
00:23:04.000 about not just
00:23:04.720 public policy
00:23:05.500 in a way that
00:23:06.240 even PolitiFact
00:23:07.140 has given,
00:23:07.620 you know,
00:23:07.780 PolitiFact is a left-wing
00:23:08.600 outlet.
00:23:09.360 Even they have given
00:23:10.260 her some
00:23:11.740 difficult ratings
00:23:13.580 because she's just
00:23:14.420 lied about,
00:23:15.180 I don't know,
00:23:15.580 defense spending
00:23:16.400 or immigration enforcement.
00:23:17.980 She's lied about
00:23:18.580 the apocalypse
00:23:19.080 saying the world's
00:23:19.720 going to end
00:23:19.960 in 12 years.
00:23:20.860 But even more
00:23:21.780 to the point here,
00:23:22.660 she's lied about
00:23:23.400 core aspects
00:23:24.300 of her biography
00:23:25.220 that very few
00:23:27.220 people pointed out.
00:23:28.040 I actually,
00:23:28.400 I was one of the few
00:23:29.140 people that was able
00:23:29.780 to point this out
00:23:30.520 because I grew up
00:23:32.200 in the town
00:23:32.640 next to AOC
00:23:33.500 at exactly
00:23:34.600 the same time.
00:23:35.780 So AOC,
00:23:36.660 when she was campaigning,
00:23:38.340 pretended that she
00:23:39.500 was raised
00:23:40.280 in the Bronx.
00:23:41.000 She was not.
00:23:41.620 When she was very,
00:23:42.240 very little,
00:23:42.640 she lived in the Bronx,
00:23:43.520 but then she grew up
00:23:44.640 in one of the
00:23:46.280 wealthiest counties
00:23:46.900 in the country.
00:23:47.760 I know this
00:23:48.340 because I lived
00:23:49.100 in the town
00:23:49.460 right next door
00:23:50.140 and she lived
00:23:51.580 in the town
00:23:52.040 that was wealthier
00:23:52.960 than my town
00:23:53.520 and she went
00:23:54.100 to very,
00:23:54.560 very good schools
00:23:55.180 and then for college
00:23:56.600 she went to a very
00:23:57.200 expensive private school.
00:23:58.580 So she was portraying
00:23:59.400 herself as Jenny
00:24:00.080 from the block.
00:24:00.920 She got called out
00:24:01.660 for it
00:24:02.060 and she's never
00:24:02.920 given a good answer
00:24:03.640 on that.
00:24:04.040 So is this story
00:24:05.540 that she's telling
00:24:06.100 true or not?
00:24:07.060 It could be,
00:24:07.760 but it's just,
00:24:08.440 you can't take it
00:24:09.720 as gospel truth
00:24:10.560 when somebody
00:24:11.620 has a proven track
00:24:12.740 record of lying
00:24:13.540 even about fundamental
00:24:14.520 aspects of her biography.
00:24:16.280 The other reason
00:24:18.680 that we have
00:24:19.320 to be skeptical here
00:24:20.200 is because she's
00:24:20.960 being so flippant.
00:24:22.160 She's being so glib
00:24:23.140 about what I think
00:24:23.800 is a serious issue.
00:24:25.980 Rape is a pretty
00:24:27.000 serious issue, guys.
00:24:28.600 It's about as serious
00:24:30.220 as they get
00:24:30.920 and she is using this,
00:24:33.280 something we've never
00:24:33.720 heard about before,
00:24:34.440 she's using it
00:24:35.180 as just a cudgel
00:24:36.060 to attack Chip Roy
00:24:38.620 and Ted Cruz.
00:24:40.500 She's saying,
00:24:40.880 you guys are like rapists.
00:24:42.100 That's not the language
00:24:42.880 of somebody
00:24:43.340 who takes that issue
00:24:44.040 seriously.
00:24:44.620 So she won't
00:24:45.180 take it seriously.
00:24:45.800 I will take it seriously.
00:24:47.820 She'll trot it out
00:24:48.700 for a cheap political shot.
00:24:50.500 I want to take it
00:24:51.700 much more seriously
00:24:52.580 I think than the left does
00:24:53.640 because there is right now
00:24:57.260 a group of women
00:24:58.860 who are accusing
00:24:59.700 Marilyn Manson,
00:25:01.540 this pretty famous
00:25:03.260 rock star from the 90s
00:25:04.920 and I guess
00:25:05.540 he's still pretty famous.
00:25:06.680 They're accusing him
00:25:07.820 of abuse
00:25:08.660 and this term sexual assault
00:25:11.040 which has only been
00:25:11.860 popularized in recent decades.
00:25:13.800 It's broader
00:25:14.460 than the term rape
00:25:15.420 but it does raise
00:25:17.780 big questions
00:25:18.840 about our sort of
00:25:19.980 sexual environment,
00:25:22.240 about our legal regime
00:25:23.560 on this question
00:25:24.340 and on what,
00:25:27.160 where exactly
00:25:28.220 the problems
00:25:29.480 really begin
00:25:30.500 because the left
00:25:31.780 has all the wrong answers
00:25:32.940 on this
00:25:33.500 but I think
00:25:35.080 if we pursue
00:25:35.860 the issue a little bit
00:25:36.720 you'll see
00:25:38.140 where the seeds
00:25:40.600 of this kind of culture
00:25:41.420 were planted
00:25:41.820 because in a way,
00:25:42.560 I can't believe
00:25:43.000 I'm saying this.
00:25:43.700 In a way,
00:25:44.180 the left has a point.
00:25:45.420 They just don't have
00:25:45.980 the point they think
00:25:46.960 that they have.
00:25:49.240 We'll get to that
00:25:49.800 in one second.
00:25:50.540 You know,
00:25:51.100 if you want to
00:25:52.080 check out misinformation,
00:25:54.800 if you want to
00:25:55.780 check out
00:25:56.700 people telling lies,
00:25:58.280 you need to look
00:25:59.600 no further
00:26:00.040 than the current
00:26:00.960 occupants of the White House
00:26:01.940 and yet ironically,
00:26:03.540 the White House
00:26:03.940 is saying
00:26:04.240 they're going to
00:26:04.580 crack down
00:26:05.200 on misinformation.
00:26:06.640 You can hear about
00:26:07.100 this on Ben's show.
00:26:08.320 He will break it down
00:26:09.480 point by point.
00:26:10.660 Earlier this month,
00:26:11.380 you know,
00:26:11.620 we released our first film,
00:26:12.740 Run, Hide, Fight.
00:26:13.820 This was exclusively
00:26:14.860 for Daily Wire members.
00:26:16.680 You can now catch it
00:26:17.700 over at dailywire.com
00:26:18.880 on our mobile app,
00:26:20.540 on our streaming app
00:26:21.480 at Apple TV,
00:26:22.180 Roku.
00:26:22.680 If you're not
00:26:23.220 a Daily Wire member yet,
00:26:24.240 if you use promo code RHF
00:26:26.600 to get 25% off,
00:26:28.060 you can join.
00:26:29.500 You can watch the whole movie.
00:26:30.720 It's got like a 0%
00:26:31.700 critic score,
00:26:32.320 but it's got like
00:26:32.780 a 93% audience score.
00:26:35.260 Go to RHF
00:26:36.260 for 25% off.
00:26:37.980 We'll be right back
00:26:38.600 with a lot more.
00:26:39.120 So there is a group
00:26:53.560 of women
00:26:54.000 accusing Marilyn Manson
00:26:56.180 of sexual assault.
00:26:58.480 Evan Rachel Wood,
00:26:59.940 who is an actress.
00:27:00.920 I've actually never
00:27:01.360 seen her work,
00:27:02.520 but she and I got into
00:27:03.240 some kind of Twitter spat
00:27:04.260 one time,
00:27:05.360 and that's the only way
00:27:06.500 I became aware of her.
00:27:07.840 But she is probably
00:27:09.160 the most prominent person
00:27:10.380 leading this charge.
00:27:12.260 Other women are doing it too,
00:27:13.360 though.
00:27:14.200 We'll get into those accusations
00:27:15.500 because I actually think
00:27:16.880 that no matter how
00:27:18.880 sort of cheapened
00:27:21.040 this debate has become,
00:27:23.480 the left does kind of
00:27:25.360 have a point here.
00:27:26.920 I just want to zoom out
00:27:27.940 for a second.
00:27:28.700 Marilyn Manson,
00:27:29.980 he took his stage name
00:27:31.640 from Marilyn Monroe
00:27:32.460 and Charles Manson,
00:27:33.540 one of the most famous killers
00:27:34.620 in American history.
00:27:36.000 Marilyn Manson,
00:27:36.580 the highest profile
00:27:37.680 Satanist in America.
00:27:39.620 He was friends
00:27:40.180 with Anton LaVey,
00:27:41.520 who was the head
00:27:42.000 of the Church of Satan.
00:27:43.620 He described himself
00:27:44.920 as a minister
00:27:45.740 in the Church of Satan.
00:27:47.360 He was a devotee
00:27:48.120 of Alistair Crowley,
00:27:49.220 maybe the other
00:27:50.460 most famous Satanist
00:27:51.700 of the last hundred years.
00:27:53.200 He quotes Crowley
00:27:54.300 in his autobiography,
00:27:55.480 says that Crowley's
00:27:57.360 sort of central dictum
00:27:58.740 is very important to him,
00:28:00.020 which is,
00:28:00.680 do what thou wilt
00:28:01.760 shall be the whole
00:28:02.880 of the law.
00:28:04.280 A lot of other
00:28:05.100 references to Crowley.
00:28:06.580 Turns out the Satanist
00:28:08.100 abuses people.
00:28:10.660 Not exactly
00:28:11.620 a man-bites-dog story,
00:28:14.520 but it is in our culture
00:28:15.840 because we have so
00:28:17.360 lost our perspective
00:28:18.900 on these things
00:28:19.660 that we would be shocked.
00:28:21.460 We say,
00:28:21.700 oh, there's nothing strange
00:28:23.120 about being a Satanist.
00:28:24.960 No, it's fine.
00:28:25.460 It's actually good.
00:28:26.900 It's all the same.
00:28:28.080 We can't discriminate.
00:28:28.980 You see this in lawsuits often.
00:28:30.720 You'll have some Satanists
00:28:31.960 suing a church,
00:28:33.300 or suing rather a courthouse
00:28:34.800 because they have
00:28:35.860 the Ten Commandments.
00:28:37.080 We say that the Church
00:28:38.200 of Satan
00:28:38.660 and the actual church,
00:28:40.960 Christian church,
00:28:41.840 they're sort of
00:28:42.340 the same thing.
00:28:43.060 We can't,
00:28:43.560 we have to be neutral
00:28:44.180 between those two.
00:28:45.500 Our founding fathers
00:28:46.240 are rolling over
00:28:46.820 in their graves on this.
00:28:48.860 But let's get into
00:28:49.960 the actual accusations.
00:28:53.260 Viewer discretion,
00:28:54.160 if people are younger
00:28:56.520 right now listening to this,
00:28:57.900 maybe just close their ears
00:28:58.760 for about a minute or two.
00:29:01.240 Evan Rachel Wood,
00:29:02.360 before she said
00:29:03.140 that she was abused
00:29:03.640 by Marilyn Manson,
00:29:04.820 testified before Congress
00:29:05.760 and said she was abused
00:29:06.760 by a sort of former
00:29:08.380 ex-boyfriend,
00:29:09.500 you know,
00:29:10.660 who she's going to
00:29:12.040 leave nameless.
00:29:13.340 Here is her description
00:29:14.500 of the abuse.
00:29:15.840 My experience
00:29:16.680 with domestic violence
00:29:17.600 was this.
00:29:18.900 Toxic mental,
00:29:19.980 physical,
00:29:20.340 and sexual abuse
00:29:21.120 which started slow
00:29:22.040 but escalated over time,
00:29:23.480 including threats
00:29:24.120 against my life,
00:29:25.600 severe gaslighting
00:29:26.520 and brainwashing,
00:29:28.020 waking up to the man
00:29:28.820 that claimed to love me,
00:29:29.760 raping what he believed
00:29:30.700 to be my unconscious body.
00:29:33.260 And the worst part,
00:29:34.480 sick rituals
00:29:35.260 of binding me up
00:29:36.420 by my hands and feet
00:29:37.660 to be mentally
00:29:38.400 and physically tortured
00:29:39.460 until my abuser felt
00:29:40.560 I had proven
00:29:41.320 my love for them.
00:29:43.400 In this moment,
00:29:44.460 while I was tied up
00:29:45.200 in being beaten
00:29:45.900 and being told
00:29:46.880 unspeakable things,
00:29:47.980 I truly felt like
00:29:48.920 I could die,
00:29:49.620 not just because
00:29:50.220 my abuser said to me,
00:29:51.480 I could kill you right now,
00:29:53.040 but because in that moment
00:29:54.120 I felt like I left my body
00:29:55.400 and I was too afraid to run,
00:29:56.900 he would find me.
00:29:57.580 I froze
00:29:59.060 and it was as if
00:30:00.940 I could see myself
00:30:01.700 from the outside
00:30:02.440 and for the first time
00:30:03.220 in months
00:30:03.620 I felt something,
00:30:04.980 utter shame and despair.
00:30:06.800 I had no idea
00:30:07.680 what to do
00:30:08.020 to change my situation
00:30:09.040 so I went numb
00:30:09.880 and soon I couldn't feel anything,
00:30:11.620 I wasn't alive.
00:30:12.980 My self-esteem
00:30:13.640 and spirit were broken.
00:30:15.440 Okay,
00:30:16.060 pretty ugly stuff.
00:30:17.800 Jenna Jameson,
00:30:18.900 who is a former porn star,
00:30:21.880 who dated Manson,
00:30:23.980 sort of at the height
00:30:24.480 of his fame,
00:30:25.380 didn't describe anything
00:30:26.340 like that,
00:30:26.940 but she did say
00:30:27.600 he bit her,
00:30:29.460 you know,
00:30:29.640 he was very into like biting
00:30:30.900 and sort of a bruising
00:30:32.200 and painful way
00:30:33.040 and said that he had fantasies
00:30:35.740 about burning her alive,
00:30:37.340 so I guess it does kind of
00:30:38.300 jive a little bit
00:30:38.940 with what Evan Rachel Wood
00:30:39.800 is describing
00:30:40.320 about the unnamed
00:30:41.820 ex-boyfriend.
00:30:44.240 There are two important parts
00:30:46.080 of this story
00:30:46.880 that show how modern liberal culture
00:30:50.420 exacerbates all of this stuff,
00:30:52.220 right?
00:30:55.060 These left-wing women
00:30:57.040 are not complaining,
00:30:58.080 other than AOC
00:30:58.940 taking a cheap political shot
00:31:00.240 that has nothing to do
00:31:00.940 with the actual issue.
00:31:02.400 These women
00:31:02.860 are not complaining,
00:31:04.220 generally speaking,
00:31:05.040 about conservative men.
00:31:06.320 Marilyn Manson
00:31:07.020 is not exactly a,
00:31:08.180 you know,
00:31:08.960 a conservative Republican
00:31:10.320 or something.
00:31:11.900 They're complaining
00:31:12.820 about people
00:31:14.920 who buy into
00:31:15.980 this leftist idea.
00:31:18.000 The Me Too movement
00:31:19.060 is focusing on
00:31:20.480 all these leftist dudes.
00:31:22.840 From the sort of
00:31:23.760 least serious accusations,
00:31:26.860 you think of like
00:31:27.280 Aziz Ansari,
00:31:28.400 where they're basically
00:31:28.980 describing this like
00:31:29.720 very crass bad date,
00:31:31.540 or all the way up
00:31:32.400 to Harvey Weinstein.
00:31:33.380 These guys are
00:31:34.020 liberal Democrats, right?
00:31:35.240 So it's,
00:31:35.740 whatever the issue is,
00:31:37.040 if it has a political dimension,
00:31:38.220 the political dimension
00:31:38.860 is going to be on the left.
00:31:40.700 In the case of
00:31:42.360 Jenna Jameson's
00:31:43.480 descriptions here,
00:31:45.680 and in the case,
00:31:46.680 at least in part,
00:31:47.640 of Evan Rachel Wood,
00:31:49.940 the sick behavior
00:31:51.080 that they're describing
00:31:52.460 was consensual.
00:31:55.500 Right?
00:31:55.900 When Evan Rachel Wood's
00:31:56.740 talking about it,
00:31:57.300 and we had this ritual
00:31:58.380 that we would do,
00:31:59.340 so we'd do it multiple times,
00:32:00.680 right,
00:32:00.800 if it's a ritual,
00:32:01.700 where he'd tie me up
00:32:03.060 and beat me
00:32:03.760 and say all these
00:32:04.700 horrible,
00:32:05.880 terrible things to me,
00:32:07.140 and I didn't,
00:32:07.940 it was ruining
00:32:08.480 my self-esteem,
00:32:09.180 but that was obviously
00:32:10.780 consensual.
00:32:13.920 And there are even
00:32:14.980 many people
00:32:15.500 on the right now,
00:32:16.420 certainly the left
00:32:17.000 says this,
00:32:17.360 but even many people
00:32:17.960 on the right
00:32:18.300 who say,
00:32:18.920 look,
00:32:19.100 if it's consensual,
00:32:19.940 it's totally cool.
00:32:21.340 That is the highest
00:32:22.420 political good,
00:32:23.400 is consent.
00:32:24.640 Look,
00:32:24.900 as long as you two
00:32:26.100 consent to it,
00:32:27.040 you can do whatever
00:32:27.720 you want,
00:32:28.260 there's nothing about it.
00:32:29.220 But actual conservatives,
00:32:31.800 conservatives who understand
00:32:32.860 that there is a
00:32:33.520 transcendent moral order,
00:32:35.060 realize,
00:32:35.920 no,
00:32:36.880 things can be done
00:32:37.660 consensually
00:32:38.260 that are still
00:32:38.760 extremely wrong.
00:32:41.120 On,
00:32:41.600 on paper,
00:32:42.700 what,
00:32:43.340 not the first part
00:32:44.340 about waking up,
00:32:45.000 but all the,
00:32:45.680 the rituals,
00:32:46.440 what Evan Rachel Wood
00:32:47.020 is describing
00:32:47.540 was consensual
00:32:48.860 and it was still wrong.
00:32:50.100 And it was wrong
00:32:51.200 for her to consent to it,
00:32:52.840 I suppose.
00:32:53.460 I mean,
00:32:53.660 wrong just because of
00:32:54.400 how it obviously hurt her
00:32:55.480 and tore her up inside,
00:32:56.460 but it was wrong
00:32:57.440 for the dude,
00:32:58.220 even if he got consent,
00:32:59.880 to do it.
00:33:00.560 It just remains wrong.
00:33:01.820 Consent is not enough.
00:33:02.960 There is a higher good
00:33:04.280 than consent.
00:33:05.500 The second aspect
00:33:06.480 of this,
00:33:07.000 though,
00:33:07.160 that,
00:33:07.680 that sort of
00:33:08.440 overturns this leftist
00:33:11.560 prevailing notion
00:33:12.620 about sex
00:33:13.240 is this shows
00:33:15.620 that sex
00:33:16.800 is not a casual thing.
00:33:19.640 The culture
00:33:20.540 that we're all living in,
00:33:21.420 the ubiquitous culture,
00:33:22.480 especially on college campuses,
00:33:23.660 but especially
00:33:24.120 just among young single people,
00:33:25.780 is that sex
00:33:26.360 is kind of casual.
00:33:27.220 It's basically like a handshake.
00:33:28.600 Well,
00:33:28.740 now handshakes are illegal
00:33:29.840 because of COVID,
00:33:31.000 but so I guess
00:33:31.740 it's even more casual
00:33:32.580 than a handshake
00:33:33.240 and it's totally fine
00:33:34.600 and you go
00:33:35.020 and you just hook up
00:33:35.620 with whoever you want
00:33:36.460 and then next day
00:33:37.600 is no big deal
00:33:38.280 and nobody gets hurt
00:33:39.120 because it's consensual,
00:33:40.420 right?
00:33:40.600 It does tie into that issue
00:33:41.880 and that's just obviously
00:33:43.280 not true
00:33:43.780 and here's how I'll show you
00:33:45.420 it's not true.
00:33:46.800 The punishments
00:33:47.780 for sexual assault
00:33:48.840 are more severe
00:33:50.360 than punishments
00:33:51.160 for simple assault,
00:33:52.860 right?
00:33:53.600 If I go up to some dude
00:33:55.400 on the street
00:33:55.960 or we're in a bar
00:33:56.620 or something
00:33:57.060 and we're talking
00:33:58.320 and we're getting angry
00:33:59.080 and I punch that guy
00:33:59.840 in the face,
00:34:00.820 I'll get in trouble,
00:34:02.280 you know,
00:34:02.740 that involves
00:34:03.780 some punishments.
00:34:05.880 But the punishments
00:34:07.520 are not as severe
00:34:08.260 as rape.
00:34:09.700 Why?
00:34:11.260 Because sex
00:34:12.340 is not just
00:34:12.980 a casual thing.
00:34:14.560 If it were,
00:34:15.680 simple assault
00:34:16.500 and sexual assault
00:34:17.240 would be indistinguishable.
00:34:19.700 But sex
00:34:20.340 is a very serious thing.
00:34:21.740 It's very significant
00:34:22.620 and it's not even
00:34:23.980 purely a physical phenomenon.
00:34:27.400 It has a spiritual component too
00:34:29.400 and I know that liberals
00:34:30.940 and the modern left
00:34:31.920 in particular
00:34:32.380 and even some segments
00:34:33.880 of the right
00:34:34.480 who are a little more licentious
00:34:35.840 don't want to admit
00:34:37.380 any of that
00:34:38.040 because,
00:34:39.080 I don't know,
00:34:39.860 because some of this stuff
00:34:40.380 is fun,
00:34:40.840 you know,
00:34:41.080 when it's happening
00:34:42.000 and when everyone's doing it.
00:34:43.720 But nevertheless,
00:34:44.840 that is true.
00:34:46.120 There are these scare tactics
00:34:47.480 that go around
00:34:48.300 like college campuses
00:34:49.260 and they've become very popular
00:34:50.340 over the last 30, 40 years.
00:34:53.200 The statistics you'll hear
00:34:54.520 is that one in four women
00:34:55.640 or one in five women
00:34:56.720 on college campuses
00:34:57.860 will be sexually assaulted
00:34:59.580 while they're there.
00:35:00.160 They'll be raped
00:35:00.620 while they're on campus.
00:35:02.080 That is obviously not true.
00:35:03.720 If that were true,
00:35:04.640 no parent would ever send
00:35:06.160 his kid
00:35:07.660 or her kid
00:35:08.480 to college.
00:35:10.400 Right?
00:35:10.980 You wouldn't,
00:35:11.300 if someone would say,
00:35:12.480 hey,
00:35:12.820 we've got a great place
00:35:15.000 where your daughter
00:35:16.280 can read Aristotle.
00:35:18.760 They're probably not anymore.
00:35:19.620 They'll probably read
00:35:20.080 Ibram Kendi
00:35:20.540 or something now.
00:35:21.440 But we've got a great place
00:35:22.280 where your daughter can go
00:35:23.080 and she'll read some books,
00:35:23.720 she'll get a credential.
00:35:24.660 One in four chance, though,
00:35:25.720 that she'll be the victim of rape.
00:35:27.780 Would anybody,
00:35:28.540 if anybody actually believed that,
00:35:29.860 would they say,
00:35:30.680 oh, okay, sign me up.
00:35:31.740 Where do I sign up?
00:35:32.640 Oh, and I get to pay
00:35:33.300 a quarter million dollars
00:35:34.120 for the privilege?
00:35:34.760 Great.
00:35:35.300 Terrific.
00:35:35.920 No, of course,
00:35:36.560 nobody believes that.
00:35:38.020 But those numbers
00:35:38.760 come from
00:35:40.080 these sort of activist surveys.
00:35:43.360 I detail some of this,
00:35:44.520 actually,
00:35:44.720 in my upcoming book,
00:35:45.520 Speechless,
00:35:46.040 Controlling Words,
00:35:46.660 Controlling Minds,
00:35:47.240 which you can pre-order now.
00:35:48.340 It's not coming out
00:35:48.940 for a few months, though.
00:35:51.720 One of the tricks
00:35:52.660 to some of these surveys
00:35:53.680 is that they'll ask women,
00:35:55.420 describe these experiences,
00:35:56.940 describe if you believe
00:35:58.700 you're a victim of rape
00:35:59.480 or sexual assault,
00:36:00.560 and then they will,
00:36:02.940 after the fact,
00:36:04.160 define many women
00:36:05.620 who do not think
00:36:06.540 that they're victims of rape
00:36:07.420 as victims of rape.
00:36:09.280 And the reason
00:36:09.920 that they'll do this,
00:36:11.320 or rather the theory
00:36:13.380 that they're pushing
00:36:14.180 as they do this,
00:36:15.440 is this idea
00:36:16.000 of false consciousness,
00:36:17.140 which is a Marxist idea,
00:36:18.940 that it became
00:36:19.480 very prominent
00:36:20.040 in the 1970s
00:36:21.000 with second wave feminism.
00:36:21.880 It's become
00:36:22.380 very prominent
00:36:24.080 with the rise
00:36:24.780 of things like
00:36:25.240 critical race theory,
00:36:26.180 which people have been
00:36:26.680 talking about
00:36:27.280 over the past few months,
00:36:28.720 that you are not aware
00:36:30.860 of your own oppression.
00:36:32.460 So you need to
00:36:33.060 have your consciousness raised.
00:36:34.920 This was a ritual
00:36:36.100 of the New York
00:36:36.820 radical women's groups.
00:36:38.340 And when your consciousness
00:36:40.000 is raised,
00:36:40.440 you'll realize
00:36:41.040 how oppressed you are.
00:36:42.460 There's actually
00:36:43.040 a funny essay about this
00:36:44.500 where a woman describes
00:36:46.380 how she went
00:36:47.900 to a New York
00:36:48.460 radical women's
00:36:49.360 consciousness raising party.
00:36:51.220 She says,
00:36:51.680 you know,
00:36:51.820 when I showed up,
00:36:52.600 I was totally happy.
00:36:54.120 I was just a regular housewife.
00:36:55.320 I was totally happy.
00:36:56.220 Only by the end
00:36:57.100 did I realize
00:36:57.920 how oppressed I am.
00:36:59.720 And thank goodness
00:37:00.740 for that women's group.
00:37:02.320 Did you really get
00:37:03.820 your money's worth there?
00:37:04.580 It doesn't seem
00:37:05.120 like a great way
00:37:05.760 to spend time.
00:37:07.820 So the statistics are crazy.
00:37:09.140 Nobody really believes
00:37:10.520 that Harvard Yard
00:37:11.460 is more dangerous
00:37:12.540 to women
00:37:13.120 than downtown Baghdad,
00:37:14.980 right?
00:37:15.220 Nobody seriously believes that.
00:37:17.080 But it's about
00:37:17.940 redefining all of those terms.
00:37:20.340 Well,
00:37:20.820 as they've done so,
00:37:22.440 they've also redefined
00:37:23.880 what would be
00:37:25.380 by any
00:37:26.220 normal standard
00:37:28.120 abusive
00:37:28.820 sex
00:37:30.040 as perfectly fine
00:37:32.280 and dandy
00:37:32.800 and kind of fun
00:37:33.720 and kinky
00:37:34.800 and consensual.
00:37:36.340 But the testimony
00:37:37.560 we're seeing
00:37:38.040 just,
00:37:38.520 just with regarding,
00:37:40.360 or just with regard
00:37:41.160 to the Marilyn Manson case,
00:37:42.340 the testimony we're seeing
00:37:43.160 is,
00:37:43.920 no,
00:37:44.600 that can still be abusive
00:37:45.920 as well.
00:37:46.980 And I think it's just,
00:37:48.280 we've got to shake,
00:37:49.440 this is part and parcel
00:37:50.540 of something we've been
00:37:51.060 talking about
00:37:51.440 for a couple weeks now.
00:37:52.940 We've got to stop
00:37:54.060 pretending that consent
00:37:55.180 is the be all
00:37:56.120 and end all.
00:37:56.960 There is something higher.
00:37:57.980 It's not even just,
00:38:00.020 it ties in with the idea
00:38:01.480 that it's not just
00:38:02.040 that we protect
00:38:02.560 freedom of speech.
00:38:03.420 That's great.
00:38:04.040 You need something to say.
00:38:05.760 You need to believe
00:38:06.300 certain things
00:38:07.020 and exclude other things.
00:38:09.360 It's not just about consent.
00:38:10.520 You have to,
00:38:10.960 it depends
00:38:11.840 what you're consenting to.
00:38:13.920 The,
00:38:14.060 the acts themselves
00:38:15.020 really matter.
00:38:16.000 Speaking of
00:38:16.900 strange sex
00:38:18.080 and double standards
00:38:20.940 on all of this,
00:38:22.540 Twitter is
00:38:23.480 permitting
00:38:24.300 the Turkish
00:38:24.800 Interior Minister
00:38:25.780 to remain
00:38:26.760 on their platform.
00:38:28.140 Even though
00:38:28.460 the Turkish
00:38:28.900 Interior Minister
00:38:29.700 said very offensive
00:38:31.100 things about gay guys.
00:38:32.840 He tweeted out,
00:38:33.940 quote,
00:38:34.040 should we tolerate
00:38:34.840 the LGBT deviants
00:38:36.440 who insult
00:38:36.980 the great Kaaba?
00:38:37.720 Of course not.
00:38:39.540 That was Interior Minister
00:38:40.580 Suleyman Soylu
00:38:42.080 referring to a shrine
00:38:44.280 in Mecca.
00:38:47.220 Now,
00:38:48.100 should we take down
00:38:50.620 this guy's tweet?
00:38:51.940 I don't really care,
00:38:52.900 right?
00:38:53.100 I don't,
00:38:53.320 what do I care about
00:38:53.820 the Turkish Interior Minister?
00:38:54.940 However,
00:38:55.420 what I,
00:38:57.720 what I do care about
00:38:58.760 regardless of his culture
00:39:00.140 or his country
00:39:01.080 or the minister of Turkey,
00:39:03.100 I care that
00:39:04.860 Twitter is going to let
00:39:05.940 that tweet remain up,
00:39:07.500 but they're going to
00:39:08.640 take down the tweets
00:39:09.900 of the duly elected
00:39:11.320 sitting president
00:39:11.920 of the United States
00:39:12.580 at the time,
00:39:12.980 Donald Trump.
00:39:13.900 And not just that,
00:39:14.760 they're going to take him
00:39:15.320 off the platform.
00:39:16.980 Twitter is going to give
00:39:18.240 greater deference
00:39:19.760 to the Interior Minister
00:39:21.820 of Turkey
00:39:22.400 than they are
00:39:23.880 to the President
00:39:24.400 of the United States.
00:39:26.260 And actually,
00:39:27.140 one thing I really love
00:39:28.000 about this story
00:39:28.880 is it shows
00:39:30.300 that the left
00:39:32.060 does not particularly care
00:39:34.040 about,
00:39:35.060 say,
00:39:35.220 LGBT people
00:39:36.640 or whatever fashionable
00:39:38.760 grievance group
00:39:40.020 they're focusing on
00:39:40.820 at the time.
00:39:42.980 They care about
00:39:44.120 the exercise of power.
00:39:46.260 They're just,
00:39:47.040 they're,
00:39:47.220 it's,
00:39:47.440 it's just a negative campaign
00:39:49.460 against the United States,
00:39:50.560 against tradition.
00:39:53.120 So,
00:39:53.800 this guy tweets out
00:39:56.120 this offensive thing
00:39:57.060 about LGBT people,
00:39:59.420 but it doesn't,
00:40:01.800 if they take him down,
00:40:03.160 that's not going to look good.
00:40:04.260 It's going to look like,
00:40:05.300 wow,
00:40:05.460 maybe the United States
00:40:06.600 has a better view
00:40:08.100 on something
00:40:08.600 than people around the world.
00:40:09.640 And so we're not going to,
00:40:10.300 we're just going to leave it up.
00:40:12.120 We're just going to leave it up.
00:40:13.660 And it's better,
00:40:14.560 it's in the,
00:40:14.940 in the public interest
00:40:15.780 to leave up these statesmen.
00:40:17.540 Oh,
00:40:17.720 well,
00:40:17.840 you don't really believe that
00:40:18.740 because you took down
00:40:19.260 Donald Trump.
00:40:20.560 Which is why I am so
00:40:22.220 sick and tired
00:40:23.780 of hearing about cancel culture.
00:40:25.800 I'm sick and tired
00:40:26.760 of hearing about it.
00:40:28.120 Did you know that
00:40:29.400 over 85% of grass-fed beef
00:40:31.020 sold in U.S. grocery stores
00:40:32.400 is imported?

00:41:05.900 Cancel culture is a slogan
00:41:08.620 and like all slogans,
00:41:10.120 it refers to something real,
00:41:12.000 but the slogan itself
00:41:13.020 should be basically disregarded.
00:41:15.080 Kind of like pro-life.
00:41:16.420 You'll hear people say this.
00:41:17.640 They'll say,
00:41:18.020 you're pro-life, huh?
00:41:19.600 Yeah.
00:41:20.600 Yeah, but you support
00:41:21.500 the death penalty?
00:41:22.580 What a hypocrite.
00:41:23.820 No.
00:41:24.840 Pro-life refers
00:41:25.520 to one specific thing.
00:41:26.680 It refers to opposition
00:41:28.080 to killing babies
00:41:29.120 in the womb.
00:41:30.040 There are other questions
00:41:31.300 about life that come up.
00:41:32.720 I don't believe that we,
00:41:35.120 I still think the civil authority
00:41:36.240 has the right to kill criminals.
00:41:37.940 I don't think that we can
00:41:39.440 eradicate death, right?
00:41:41.540 I guess if I were really pro-life,
00:41:42.800 I would want to abolish death.
00:41:44.260 Well, you can't abolish death, right?
00:41:45.840 It doesn't mean
00:41:46.720 any of those things.
00:41:47.840 It's a slogan that refers
00:41:48.860 to a specific thing.
00:41:49.660 We can talk about
00:41:50.100 those other things later,
00:41:51.380 but that's not what
00:41:51.980 we're talking about here.
00:41:52.720 Same thing with cancel culture.
00:41:54.920 Cancel culture refers
00:41:55.660 to a specific phenomenon
00:41:57.040 of leftist censorship
00:41:58.700 and ostracism
00:42:00.940 of anyone who
00:42:02.300 contradicts
00:42:03.280 politically correct orthodoxy.
00:42:05.440 Have conservatives
00:42:06.480 censored liberals before?
00:42:08.080 Yes.
00:42:09.320 McCarthyism is a great example.
00:42:12.120 McCarthyism,
00:42:12.960 a very good thing.
00:42:13.920 Perhaps,
00:42:14.260 perhaps we'll get,
00:42:15.200 we'll get to that
00:42:15.920 at some later point.
00:42:17.920 But sure,
00:42:18.600 yeah,
00:42:19.220 it,
00:42:19.740 absolutely.
00:42:20.420 Does that mean
00:42:20.900 that we can say
00:42:21.420 whatever we want,
00:42:22.060 whenever we want?
00:42:22.580 There's no limits
00:42:23.060 on free speech?
00:42:23.600 No,
00:42:23.880 that's never been true
00:42:24.480 in America.
00:42:25.080 But we're talking
00:42:25.780 about something specific.
00:42:27.580 The issue that,
00:42:28.500 that is going on right now
00:42:29.440 is not conservatives
00:42:30.120 censoring leftists.
00:42:31.480 It's the opposite.
00:42:32.300 So let's focus
00:42:33.620 on that issue.
00:42:34.820 But the left doesn't want
00:42:35.680 to have that honest argument.
00:42:36.880 It's why they resort
00:42:37.900 to these cheap,
00:42:39.460 ugly tactics.
00:42:40.240 You see it from AOC.
00:42:41.640 You see it from all sorts
00:42:42.940 of bad faith actors
00:42:44.020 on the internet
00:42:45.060 and the public square.
00:42:45.900 And there's no reason
00:42:46.740 to engage in that debate.
00:42:48.020 No debate
00:42:48.620 in that context
00:42:50.160 is possible.
00:42:52.960 BLM
00:42:53.440 has been nominated
00:42:55.280 for a Nobel Peace Prize.
00:42:56.860 Some people are calling it
00:42:59.140 the Nobel
00:43:00.800 Mostly Peaceful Prize.
00:43:02.460 I think that is
00:43:03.180 probably true.
00:43:04.700 Everyone is very upset
00:43:05.660 because BLM
00:43:06.440 obviously was torching
00:43:07.660 the country
00:43:08.080 for like six months.
00:43:09.680 Doesn't seem
00:43:10.320 very peaceful.
00:43:12.120 However,
00:43:12.920 I think this is
00:43:13.820 pretty in keeping
00:43:14.700 with past winners.
00:43:16.700 You've got
00:43:17.140 Yasser Arafat.
00:43:19.380 Yasser Arafat,
00:43:20.600 a terrorist
00:43:22.180 from the Middle East,
00:43:23.240 right?
00:43:23.380 He won.
00:43:25.280 So surely if he won,
00:43:26.400 BLM can win too.
00:43:28.560 Beyond that,
00:43:29.140 you've got
00:43:29.560 Barack Obama won.
00:43:31.760 Barack Obama
00:43:32.460 started multiple
00:43:33.720 new wars.
00:43:35.820 Al Gore
00:43:36.380 won the
00:43:37.380 Nobel Peace Prize.
00:43:39.180 He didn't start
00:43:39.860 any wars
00:43:40.380 as far as I can tell,
00:43:41.460 but
00:43:41.580 he has
00:43:43.240 supported a campaign
00:43:44.460 of
00:43:45.020 population suppression.
00:43:47.040 He has supported
00:43:47.880 abortion
00:43:49.340 and contraception
00:43:50.160 in the third world
00:43:50.880 to keep Africans
00:43:51.560 from having too many babies.
00:43:52.460 That doesn't seem peaceful.
00:43:54.140 Jimmy Carter.
00:43:55.040 Jimmy Carter
00:43:55.440 didn't start
00:43:55.860 any new wars.
00:43:57.160 Kind of feckless.
00:43:58.000 I don't know,
00:43:58.160 he didn't bring a ton
00:43:59.100 of peace,
00:43:59.580 but fair enough.
00:44:01.200 So sure,
00:44:01.680 BLM is up for this.
00:44:05.180 A lot of conservatives
00:44:06.180 are saying,
00:44:06.600 we should not
00:44:07.080 nominate BLM
00:44:07.860 for this.
00:44:08.400 I would like
00:44:08.920 to go further
00:44:09.560 and this ties
00:44:10.360 in to cancel culture.
00:44:11.960 I think BLM
00:44:13.120 should be canceled.
00:44:14.940 We should not
00:44:15.860 permit that organization
00:44:16.960 to operate
00:44:17.720 in the United States.
00:44:18.940 It is a subversive
00:44:20.020 organization.
00:44:20.640 It is not
00:44:21.860 only opposed
00:44:22.860 to the structure
00:44:24.120 of the U.S. government,
00:44:25.320 but it actively
00:44:26.140 tries to overturn
00:44:27.140 those structures
00:44:27.760 by setting government
00:44:28.720 buildings on fire,
00:44:29.920 by burning down
00:44:30.820 businesses,
00:44:31.660 by torching city
00:44:32.620 after city
00:44:33.300 after city.
00:44:34.120 It is opposed
00:44:35.040 in idea
00:44:35.860 to the United States
00:44:36.980 and it is opposed
00:44:37.900 in practice
00:44:38.460 to the United States
00:44:39.320 because it attacks
00:44:40.540 law enforcement
00:44:41.460 and because it attacks
00:44:42.900 all of these
00:44:44.800 sorts of institutions.
00:44:46.280 It is a subversive
00:44:47.320 organization.
00:44:48.220 It should be prosecuted
00:44:49.320 under the Smith Act.
00:44:50.480 We were just talking
00:44:51.020 about McCarthyism.
00:44:52.120 The Smith Act
00:44:52.780 is an act
00:44:53.840 that was popular
00:44:56.500 and actually used
00:44:57.840 in the mid-20th century
00:44:59.180 before the Supreme Court
00:45:00.080 watered it down
00:45:00.820 to prosecute communists
00:45:02.640 because you can't
00:45:03.660 be an open subversive.
00:45:05.100 You can't actively
00:45:06.500 be trying
00:45:07.080 to overturn
00:45:07.680 the system.
00:45:09.000 We can't tolerate
00:45:10.080 that amount
00:45:11.860 of free expression,
00:45:15.140 the sort of expression
00:45:15.960 that's going to overturn
00:45:16.640 the entire system
00:45:17.440 of free expression.
00:45:18.940 Can't have it.
00:45:19.800 Like Chesterton said,
00:45:20.620 there's a thought
00:45:21.040 that stops thought.
00:45:22.060 That's the only thought
00:45:22.660 that ought to be stopped.
00:45:23.520 Same with Antifa.
00:45:24.240 We should not
00:45:24.740 tolerate Antifa.
00:45:27.300 You might say,
00:45:27.920 Michael,
00:45:28.180 you're an authoritarian.
00:45:29.640 Your views sound
00:45:30.520 so authoritarian.
00:45:31.100 My views are not
00:45:31.760 in any way authoritarian.
00:45:33.460 We've had these kinds
00:45:34.320 of rules against sedition
00:45:35.720 and subversive organizations
00:45:36.800 since the very beginning
00:45:38.040 of the country.
00:45:39.180 My views are no more
00:45:39.980 authoritarian
00:45:40.440 than Thomas Jefferson's.
00:45:41.940 My views are no more
00:45:42.740 authoritarian than John Locke's
00:45:44.080 who wrote the letter
00:45:44.660 concerning toleration.
00:45:46.040 In the letter
00:45:46.400 concerning toleration,
00:45:47.380 John Locke says,
00:45:48.000 atheists under no circumstances
00:45:49.980 should ever be tolerated.
00:45:51.380 John Locke is the father
00:45:52.180 of liberalism.
00:45:52.960 So I just don't want
00:45:53.800 to hear it.
00:45:54.220 I don't want to hear
00:45:54.800 about illiberalism.
00:45:55.880 I don't want to hear
00:45:56.460 about authoritarianism.
00:45:58.040 We need to have substance.
00:46:00.220 This goes all the way back
00:46:01.540 to Mitch McConnell's defense
00:46:03.520 of Liz Cheney.
00:46:04.300 He says,
00:46:04.620 you know,
00:46:05.060 she has convictions
00:46:05.980 and she leads
00:46:07.660 and she has courage.
00:46:09.980 Yeah.
00:46:10.400 So does BLM.
00:46:11.120 BLM,
00:46:12.020 they lead,
00:46:12.900 they have courage,
00:46:13.960 they have convictions.
00:46:16.080 What matters
00:46:17.220 is what the convictions are
00:46:20.100 and if the convictions
00:46:22.200 are opposed
00:46:23.240 to the country itself,
00:46:24.660 those cannot
00:46:25.520 be tolerated.
00:46:27.660 We want specific action.
00:46:30.460 I think we're finally
00:46:31.080 waking up
00:46:31.540 out of the slumber
00:46:32.380 of just lulling ourselves
00:46:34.860 to sleep
00:46:35.580 to do nothing politically
00:46:36.760 for a couple of decades.
00:46:39.740 Conservatives are realizing,
00:46:40.580 oh, we actually have
00:46:41.020 to wield political power.
00:46:42.460 Ron DeSantis
00:46:42.980 down in Florida
00:46:43.560 is realizing this.
00:46:44.560 He just came out
00:46:45.180 and announced big actions
00:46:46.460 on big tech.
00:46:47.740 In Florida,
00:46:48.640 we're going to take action.
00:46:50.120 We're going to take aim
00:46:50.960 at those companies
00:46:51.640 and pull back the veil
00:46:52.700 and make sure these guys
00:46:53.960 don't continue to find
00:46:54.940 loopholes and gray areas
00:46:56.840 to live above the law.
00:46:58.840 Under our proposal,
00:47:00.120 if a technology company
00:47:01.220 deplatforms a candidate
00:47:02.720 for elected office
00:47:03.660 in Florida
00:47:04.200 during an election,
00:47:05.960 a company will face
00:47:06.840 a daily fine
00:47:07.640 of $100,000
00:47:08.560 until the candidate's
00:47:09.860 access to the platform
00:47:11.080 is restored.
00:47:12.580 Again, any Floridian
00:47:13.500 can deplatform
00:47:14.380 any candidate they choose
00:47:15.720 to simply unsubscribe.
00:47:17.420 And it's a right
00:47:17.880 that I believe
00:47:18.400 belongs with the citizen.
00:47:20.100 Further,
00:47:20.500 if a technology company
00:47:21.620 promotes a candidate
00:47:22.460 for office against another,
00:47:24.120 the value of that
00:47:24.920 free promotion
00:47:25.840 must be recorded
00:47:27.580 as a political
00:47:28.480 campaign contribution
00:47:30.020 enforced by the
00:47:31.440 Florida Elections Commission.
00:47:33.300 And lastly,
00:47:34.300 a technology company
00:47:35.460 uses their content
00:47:36.560 and user-related algorithms
00:47:38.020 to suppress or prioritize
00:47:39.540 the access of any content
00:47:41.420 related to a political
00:47:42.320 candidate or cause
00:47:43.240 on the ballot.
00:47:44.000 That company will also
00:47:45.240 face daily fines.
00:47:47.820 Love this.
00:47:49.060 This is actually
00:47:49.840 the perfect issue
00:47:51.360 to see what we're
00:47:54.140 all talking about here.
00:47:55.580 Because on one level,
00:47:57.580 what DeSantis is doing
00:47:58.680 is very pro-free speech,
00:48:01.200 right?
00:48:01.440 Pro-free expression.
00:48:02.540 He's saying,
00:48:03.160 if you deplatform
00:48:04.360 people who are running
00:48:05.220 for office
00:48:05.800 in the way that
00:48:06.460 big tech did
00:48:07.220 to Donald Trump,
00:48:10.180 right?
00:48:10.340 Because it's not just
00:48:10.960 even kicking the candidates
00:48:11.940 off.
00:48:12.400 It's suppressing
00:48:13.100 the news stories.
00:48:14.260 It's taking away
00:48:15.880 the Hunter Biden story,
00:48:16.760 which Twitter did
00:48:17.360 in the run-up
00:48:17.820 to the election.
00:48:18.540 It's then after the election
00:48:19.580 while it was being contested
00:48:20.580 kicking Trump
00:48:21.160 off of the platform.
00:48:23.200 In that way,
00:48:24.480 very pro-free speech.
00:48:25.620 But in another way,
00:48:26.740 it's,
00:48:26.960 this is authoritarian.
00:48:28.140 This is illiberal.
00:48:29.100 This is suppressing
00:48:29.940 the speech
00:48:30.500 of the tech companies.
00:48:31.900 Build your own Twitter.
00:48:33.100 Build your own Google.
00:48:34.920 No,
00:48:35.500 that's just bunk.
00:48:36.520 That's ridiculous.
00:48:37.940 Give me a break.
00:48:41.040 Big tech controls
00:48:42.400 the flow of information
00:48:43.400 around the internet.
00:48:44.880 The internet
00:48:45.600 is the public square.
00:48:47.200 Big tech controls
00:48:48.420 our political discourse
00:48:50.120 effectively.
00:48:51.800 And if they are
00:48:52.900 putting their finger
00:48:53.660 on the scale,
00:48:54.400 we need to go in.
00:48:55.860 If we regulate them
00:48:57.380 as Ron DeSantis
00:48:58.380 is doing,
00:48:59.240 that is not
00:48:59.880 an attack on free speech.
00:49:01.420 That is a defense
00:49:02.260 of free speech.
00:49:03.420 It's,
00:49:03.700 it's using the state
00:49:04.920 to defend free speech,
00:49:06.200 which I know
00:49:06.640 seems so crazy
00:49:07.920 to so many
00:49:09.200 on the right
00:49:10.280 who have thought
00:49:11.040 that that's not possible
00:49:11.940 over the last
00:49:12.580 couple of decades.
00:49:14.640 The right used to understand,
00:49:16.280 not that long ago,
00:49:17.080 the right used to understand,
00:49:17.860 of course that is the case.
00:49:19.340 The,
00:49:19.840 through politics,
00:49:20.420 we set the parameters
00:49:21.600 of the free marketplace
00:49:22.680 of ideas,
00:49:23.320 of the,
00:49:23.540 of the marketplace,
00:49:25.180 meaning the economy itself.
00:49:26.340 We,
00:49:26.820 we set those things
00:49:27.640 and then we want it
00:49:28.380 to operate freely
00:49:29.220 within those boundaries.
00:49:30.920 This also tells me,
00:49:32.860 Ron DeSantis is running.
00:49:34.740 This guy is gearing up
00:49:36.340 for 2024.
00:49:37.440 It is so obvious
00:49:38.460 and he's setting himself up
00:49:39.860 in a good position.
00:49:41.340 Can he go all the way?
00:49:42.780 Who knows?
00:49:43.260 It's still so early.
00:49:44.260 Nobody could guess
00:49:44.880 these things early on,
00:49:46.440 but he,
00:49:46.680 he's positioning himself
00:49:47.900 very well
00:49:48.660 and he,
00:49:49.160 he is showing clarity
00:49:50.160 on this issue.
00:49:52.720 I hope that the Republicans
00:49:54.100 get some clarity too
00:49:55.220 and we don't just keep
00:49:56.220 spewing platitudes
00:49:57.960 about leadership
00:49:58.780 and conviction.
00:49:59.680 All right.
