00:00:30.280 As you deck the halls with boughs of holly,
00:00:32.940 Joe Biden wants you to know that we are not headed into the season to be jolly,
00:00:37.520 but rather into a winter of severe illness and death.
00:00:42.900 It's here now and it's spreading and it's going to increase.
00:00:47.460 For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death for unvaccinated.
00:00:53.820 For themselves, their families, and the hospitals, they'll soon overwhelm.
00:00:58.540 So lest you think that Joe Biden is just projecting here,
00:01:01.320 what he's saying is it's a winter of severe illness and death specifically for the unvaccinated.
00:01:06.900 And the thing is, none of that would appear to be true from the evidence we have right now.
00:01:11.020 So far, according to the CDC, just 43 people in the United States have come down with the Omicron variant of coronavirus.
00:01:20.060 Nearly 80% of them were vaccinated, not unvaccinated, vaccinated.
00:01:26.920 One briefly went to the hospital.
00:01:29.420 No one so far has died.
00:01:30.460 Never mind that all available evidence suggests that the Omicron or whatever,
00:01:35.020 whatever the next one is that we're going to call it,
00:01:36.940 is significantly milder than Delta, Alpha, Phi Beta Kappa, all the other ones that we know about.
00:01:42.480 No, no, no.
00:01:43.580 You need to be afraid because otherwise Joe Biden won't have as much power.
00:01:49.360 I'm Michael Knowles.
00:01:50.020 This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:01:50.800 Welcome back to the show.
00:01:59.600 My favorite comment yesterday is from Philippe Potter, who says,
00:02:03.940 if you say that a teacher can teach whatever he wants in the classroom because he has freedom of speech,
00:02:09.920 you also have to go wherever a bus driver wants to take you because he has freedom of movement.
00:02:15.300 This is such a great analogy for so-called academic freedom.
00:02:20.800 The teacher, I guess, has the right to think about whatever he wants to think about.
00:02:28.020 I guess he has the right to read the kind of books he wants to read, generally speaking.
00:02:31.580 He has the right to read, but he doesn't have the right to teach whatever he wants.
00:02:34.940 He has to do his job, and his job involves teaching certain things and giving his kids a certain kind of education.
00:02:41.000 It means teaching the truth.
00:02:42.120 It means teaching things that are good.
00:02:43.800 It means exposing students to things that are beautiful and not the opposite of all that.
00:02:47.880 Just like a bus driver might have the right to go wherever he wants, but not while he's on the job.
00:02:52.840 These are basic things, but our society doesn't understand basic things anymore,
00:02:56.620 which is why you probably want to get your hands on some tangible assets, such as Acre Gold.
00:03:01.460 Acre lets you subscribe to gold bars for as little as $30 a month.
00:03:06.900 Don't call me a liar.
00:03:08.180 I know because you're thinking that gold costs more than $30 a month.
00:03:12.500 Sure, I know it does, but Acre's got this ingenious way of having you subscribe when your gold stash reaches the price of their gold bars.
00:03:20.680 They will discreetly ship Acre Gold to your house.
00:03:23.240 If you want to up the ante, they've got a $100 a month subscription to a 5-gram gold bar.
00:03:28.100 I really like it.
00:03:28.840 Great way to invest without coming out of pocket all at once.
00:03:31.760 I have very much enjoyed investing in physical precious metals.
00:03:34.940 I've enjoyed my Acre Gold.
00:03:37.520 I would really recommend you take a look into it.
00:03:39.840 Head on over to getacregold.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S.
00:03:44.780 Right now, start investing in physical gold today.
00:03:47.420 Make sure you go to that URL because Acre is giving away a gold bar.
00:03:51.380 Merry Christmas.
00:03:52.200 Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.
00:03:53.640 To qualify for the giveaway, tweet or post why you should be the recipient and mention at get underscore Acre.
00:03:58.780 That is getacregold.com slash Knowles.
00:04:02.680 Be afraid.
00:04:04.500 Be very, very afraid.
00:04:07.420 That is the message from Joe Biden.
00:04:10.700 This is the kind of fear mongering I have never seen in my whole life in American politics.
00:04:17.100 Having lived through 9-11, the wars in the Middle East, Trump talking about immigration.
00:04:24.820 There has been a lot of, I guess you'd call it fear mongering, I guess.
00:04:31.520 And then on the other side, you've got the Democrats fear mongering about the Russia scandal and Ukraine and all that other stuff.
00:04:37.380 I've never seen anything like this.
00:04:38.960 The president of the United States saying, if you don't do exactly what I tell you to do and inject yourself with some experimental drug, then there's going to be severe pain, illness, death everywhere.
00:04:50.920 Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.
00:04:52.560 By the way, on the vaccines, turns out, turns out the vaccines might not be quite as safe as some of the establishment wants you to believe.
00:05:02.620 Before you take me off the air, YouTube and Facebook and Twitter or whatever, I'm just quoting the CDC.
00:05:10.000 At yesterday's meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, CDC officials went into detail on the blood clotting related syndrome that was identified in 54 people in the United States who got the shot before the end of August.
00:05:29.840 Okay.
00:05:30.580 The FDA earlier this week said basically the same thing.
00:05:34.340 I'm just reading directly from the FDA report here.
00:05:37.120 Cases of TTS, cases of blood clots, following the administration of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine have been reported in males and females in a wide age range of individuals 18 years and older.
00:05:51.720 With the highest reporting rate, approximately one case per 100,000 doses administered in females ages 30 to 49 years.
00:06:00.120 So first of all, that's not nothing.
00:06:02.420 One in 100,000 is not nothing when you're talking about giving this vax to 330 million people.
00:06:08.240 Overall, approximately 15% of the TTS cases have been fatal.
00:06:15.900 So you got 330 million people just about getting the vaccine.
00:06:19.940 In this specific age group, you're looking at one in 100,000 are getting this complication.
00:06:24.840 And then 15% of that, you die.
00:06:27.600 That's not good.
00:06:28.460 Currently available evidence supports a causal relationship between TTS, the blood clots, and the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.
00:06:36.600 That's just from the FDA.
00:06:38.860 If you're going to take me off the air for saying that, then at least let's be honest,
00:06:44.480 you are going to take me off the air for quoting directly from an FDA report.
00:06:52.860 Obviously, there are risks from the vaccine, despite all, from the vaccines, plural.
00:07:02.060 Despite all of the establishment propaganda that this is 100% safe and there's no risk whatsoever, that's BS.
00:07:08.700 There is risk in any vaccine, basically any medical intervention you take.
00:07:13.020 And sometimes the risks are higher and sometimes the risks are lower, which is why from the beginning on these vaccine issues,
00:07:21.740 I have pointed out that there are some prudential arguments to get the vaccine,
00:07:28.180 despite the medical and religious and moral complications of it.
00:07:34.440 And there are some prudential arguments for not getting the vaccine, and it might vary even person to person.
00:07:43.440 But the FDA and the CDC saying, yeah, actually, maybe this is a little bit worse than we thought.
00:07:49.680 Yeah, now, both bodies might say, but you should still get the vaccine.
00:07:53.180 But that's just, they're just explaining the facts.
00:07:55.540 Maybe there is more risk here.
00:07:57.820 Even the New York Times covered this, right?
00:07:59.500 So the New York Times covered it, and then they realized they had a little too much truth in their headline,
00:08:05.760 so they had to change the headline.
00:08:07.100 So the original headline was,
00:08:08.760 A CDC panel weighs the risks of blood clots linked to the J&J vaccine.
00:08:14.580 Okay, that's pretty honest, right?
00:08:16.560 The CDC panel is looking once again, because there are more people who have gotten these blood clots and died from the blood clots.
00:08:23.320 Okay, so they're going to weigh the risks of that vaccine.
00:08:27.020 New headline.
00:08:27.700 The CDC recommends that other vaccines be preferred over J&J.
00:08:33.920 So they take out the idea of risk.
00:08:35.920 They take out the idea that maybe these things aren't going to be totally safe for you.
00:08:42.200 And they say, just maybe go look at the other vaccines.
00:08:45.120 But there are risks from the other vaccines as well, as the CDC has admitted.
00:08:49.180 Risks of myocarditis, risks of pericarditis in different groups of people, specifically in younger men.
00:08:54.360 But the establishment doesn't want too much truth to get out.
00:08:59.700 They're trying to hide this story.
00:09:01.580 And this is why when you don't believe the legacy media, when you don't believe Dr.
00:09:09.660 Fauci, when you don't believe Big Pharma, who the hell ever thought it was a good idea to just blindly accept whatever Big Pharma tells you?
00:09:16.320 Remember when people on the left thought that Big Pharma was maybe a little corrupt and maybe there were some conflicts of interest here and maybe we shouldn't just accept every single one of their press releases as gospel truth?
00:09:29.500 And then COVID happened and now we're told that Big Pharma is the greatest, most wonderful, innocent industry in America.
00:09:35.920 You remember that?
00:09:38.440 My friend Ryan Long, the comedian, made this point.
00:09:41.820 It was the left saying, I hate Big Pharma, except for Pfizer.
00:09:44.480 I love, Pfizer's amazing, Pfizer's one.
00:09:46.020 But all the rest of Big Pharma is really terrible.
00:09:48.260 So they're all trying to hide the story, which means you've got to do your own research and you've got to make your own decisions and you've got to use your own faculties of reason and judgment and prudence.
00:09:56.520 And I'm not sure you're even allowed to say that anymore.
00:09:58.300 No consequences whatsoever for the people who misled and lied about the safety and efficacy of certain vaccines.
00:10:07.760 No consequences at all in the federal government, in its associated entities and in the deep state.
00:10:14.540 Great example of this.
00:10:15.920 There was a drone attack.
00:10:17.660 There have been many drone attacks in the Middle East.
00:10:21.340 So there was a drone attack that the United States carried out that killed a bunch of civilians.
00:10:25.520 And the attack should not have been launched.
00:10:31.160 And there was an investigation into it.
00:10:33.080 And, yep, that's bad.
00:10:34.380 We killed a bunch of civilians.
00:10:35.860 So the Pentagon press secretary was brought onto a news show, credit where credit's due, onto Morning Joe, and was asked, is anyone going to be held accountable for this?
00:10:46.560 Here's his answer.
00:10:47.680 How does it strike you that no one is held accountable?
00:10:50.200 Because I know how it strikes a lot of people around the world, that you can get away with murder and nobody's punished for it.
00:10:54.940 I do understand that.
00:10:56.060 We appreciate that not everybody's going to support this decision.
00:11:00.320 What I can tell you is we looked at this thing very, very comprehensively.
00:11:03.860 And, again, we acknowledge that there were procedural breakdowns.
00:11:07.120 Processes were not executed the way they should have been.
00:11:10.420 But it doesn't necessarily indicate that an individual or individuals have to be held to account for that.
00:11:15.740 But, look, this is one...
00:11:17.380 Is there discipline inside the Pentagon at all?
00:11:19.420 I mean, maybe there are no charges brought up, but is anyone demoted or disciplined for what happened that day?
00:11:23.860 What we are going to do, there's not going to be individual discipline as a result of this, Willie.
00:11:29.340 But what we are going to do is learn from this.
00:11:31.840 And we're going to enact and improve our procedures and our processes to try to make sure this doesn't happen again.
00:11:37.540 There aren't going to be any consequences whatsoever for anybody, but we're going to learn from this.
00:11:42.020 You're not going to learn anything if there's no consequences.
00:11:43.920 What are you talking about?
00:11:45.820 Like when your kid keeps stealing the cookies from the cookie jar.
00:11:49.560 You say, okay, well, I'm not going to punish little Johnny, but he's going to learn.
00:11:52.420 He'll learn anything.
00:11:53.020 No, he won't, of course.
00:11:53.880 And I'm not suggesting that the people who didn't follow the procedures that led, therefore, to this murder of civilians.
00:12:02.900 Not murder, I guess, just homicide.
00:12:04.960 It was in the unintentional killing of civilians.
00:12:07.460 I'm not saying they need to be brought up on criminal charges.
00:12:10.340 I'm not saying they need to be thrown in prison.
00:12:13.120 In any military operation, there is a risk of civilians being killed.
00:12:18.740 That's just what happens in war.
00:12:20.640 This is one of the reasons to be a little more circumspect, maybe, when you're talking about going to war.
00:12:24.200 Whether it's an outright full frontal war or whether it's some of these sort of little wars of empire that the United States has been engaging in recently.
00:12:33.220 But surely someone has to be held to account, right?
00:12:37.160 Surely someone or multiple people who didn't follow the rules, they need at least a slap on the wrist, don't they?
00:12:44.920 They need at least to acknowledge fault, don't they?
00:12:47.280 Or no.
00:12:48.640 Because the blob, because the liberal establishment never, never faces consequences.
00:12:57.380 Really makes you think there's something wrong in America.
00:13:00.220 There's something so wrong in America right now that when you go to the grocery store and you buy meat that says product of USA, very often it's not even the product of the USA.
00:13:07.680 Which is why you've got to check out Good Ranchers.

00:14:22.940 Speaking of the Pentagon, Joe Biden was just giving a little update on what's going on over at the Pentagon.
00:14:31.320 And he appears to have once again forgotten the name of the Secretary of Defense.
00:14:36.020 I want to thank all of our distinguished guests that are here today, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, the Secretary of the, of the, Secretary Austin.
00:14:49.960 So it's even worse than just forgetting the name, which he did.
00:14:54.340 He forgot the name of his own Secretary of Defense.
00:14:56.820 He also forgot the name of the Pentagon.
00:14:59.980 He also forgot the name of the Department of Defense.
00:15:03.180 He said, well, the, and the Secretary of, uh, what's the, huh, what, what's the one is it?
00:15:08.020 It's the, not Secretary of War.
00:15:11.360 It's not the Secretary.
00:15:12.740 Oh, yeah.
00:15:13.180 And then he said Secretary Austin, which he also had forgotten.
00:15:15.280 So we all, we all make fun of Joe Biden's, uh, memory slips and obvious senility.
00:15:22.920 I'm beginning to think this is more sad than funny.
00:15:27.260 In the, in that, if, if you've ever dealt with a loved one who is going through senility,
00:15:34.600 whether it's formally diagnosed as dementia or not, or just age-related memory slips, or just, you know, a lot of people,
00:15:41.900 a lot of older people go through this.
00:15:43.320 It's extremely sad.
00:15:44.620 It's heart-wrenching to watch.
00:15:47.000 And so I don't know how advanced Joe Biden's problems are.
00:15:50.800 I don't, obviously, they hide him a lot from the public.
00:15:52.800 So we usually don't see these sort of things.
00:15:54.340 They hit him for the entire 2020 election, practically.
00:15:57.340 But for anyone who's ever dealt with a loved one who is in cognitive decline,
00:16:03.160 it's, it's really sad, and it's kind of unpredictable,
00:16:06.020 and you don't know when they're really capable or not.
00:16:09.240 And this should worry even Republicans who, we make fun of Joe Biden.
00:16:15.020 We don't like Joe Biden.
00:16:15.760 He's always been a doofus from his earliest, most lucid days.
00:16:18.340 But we have a president who is very clearly not all there.
00:16:23.380 I don't mean this in the way that each party always attacks the other party and says the president's an idiot.
00:16:31.040 They did this to George W. Bush.
00:16:32.720 They did it to Trump.
00:16:33.780 They did it.
00:16:34.140 They do it to all the presidents.
00:16:35.540 But I think for the Democrats listening out there, even the Biden supporters listening out there,
00:16:41.680 you can't tell me that the man is not in a cognitive decline.
00:16:45.780 And so this raises a question.
00:16:47.940 The question is, do we need a president?
00:16:53.520 There are now some, some conservatives who are saying,
00:16:57.840 we need a basic level of competence and to run the government.
00:17:01.140 And if your president's not competent, that's a grave threat to national security.
00:17:03.680 You've got some disingenuous liberals saying, our president's totally competent.
00:17:07.860 It's not a big deal.
00:17:08.500 Don't worry about it.
00:17:09.360 But I'm, I'm actually kind of open-minded on this question.
00:17:12.140 I don't know that we need a president.
00:17:13.840 Really.
00:17:15.780 I wonder if the administrative state is so firm and set and bloated at this point that it can just kind of run itself.
00:17:25.680 Maybe it can.
00:17:26.580 I don't know.
00:17:27.080 I mean, obviously you need the president to appoint certain people,
00:17:29.220 but really even those appointments are just made by advisors.
00:17:31.580 And as long as the president puts his rubber stamp on,
00:17:33.700 as long as they can lift his arm up with a,
00:17:35.120 with a pen in it and just kind of scribble a name on there,
00:17:37.560 then I guess he can sign off on it.
00:17:39.100 Do we need a president?
00:17:40.280 I don't know.
00:17:41.400 Going back all the way to Woodrow Wilson,
00:17:43.400 you have seen this,
00:17:45.100 this notion develop on the left that the presidency is too big for one man.
00:17:49.440 And so therefore we need to create this federal bureaucracy that's just going to run itself,
00:17:54.040 even if the president is totally incapacitated.
00:17:56.480 Maybe that's the case.
00:17:57.400 Now, if that is the case, it tells us that our constitutional order has changed dramatically
00:18:02.500 from what it was in the beginning.
00:18:04.680 And for, for, I guess, most of our nation's history to right now,
00:18:08.700 but it may well be the case that Joe Biden can go sit and watch episodes of Matlock and it won't,
00:18:14.360 it won't matter.
00:18:15.180 The establishment is pretty effective on its own.
00:18:17.520 You see this not just within the administrative agencies,
00:18:19.600 you see it with the media too,
00:18:21.040 because the media are just the propaganda arm of,
00:18:23.980 of the liberal establishment.
00:18:25.420 And so, for instance,
00:18:28.360 when gas jumps an incredible amount over the past year,
00:18:33.380 it's up, I think, what, 56 or 57 percent over the past year.
00:18:38.060 And then it drops down four to 10 cents.
00:18:43.660 And honest news media would come out and say,
00:18:46.020 gosh, gas is so high.
00:18:47.480 This is really a big problem.
00:18:49.400 It's way, way up.
00:18:50.260 But, but because the news media are not honest,
00:18:53.160 because they're the propaganda arm of the liberal establishment,
00:18:55.480 they go in lockstep with the exact same talking points and say,
00:18:59.380 oh, wow, gas is down less than 10 cents.
00:19:02.480 Huge win.
00:19:03.460 Great news.
00:19:04.740 Wonderful.
00:19:05.260 Great leader Biden doing wonderful.
00:19:07.400 All praise to Biden.
00:19:09.160 Here at home, Americans are finally getting some relief.
00:19:12.780 Finally, right?
00:19:14.680 Good news, people.
00:19:15.480 We talked so much about bad news.
00:19:16.960 Oh, my gosh.
00:19:17.640 This is good news.
00:19:19.740 Gas prices are heading south, down.
00:19:22.040 A government forecast says that they could drop below $3 a gallon.
00:19:30.040 Whew.
00:19:30.900 Finally, some economic relief.
00:19:33.440 However, minor.
00:19:34.580 Americans are paying a little less at the pump
00:19:36.680 after weeks of rising energy prices.
00:19:38.600 Relief for the United States as energy costs drop.
00:19:42.360 That pain that you've been feeling at the pump, it may be short-lived.
00:19:45.360 There is finally some relief at the pump.
00:19:47.620 Good news at the pump.
00:19:48.840 Finally getting some relief, as you mentioned.
00:19:50.240 The national average price of gas dropped four cents in the last week.
00:19:53.580 Gas dropped nearly a nickel in the last week.
00:19:56.360 It's a seven-week low.
00:19:57.860 It's moving in the right direction.
00:19:59.200 The average is now at a seven-week low.
00:20:01.820 Actually, a seven-week low.
00:20:03.600 Slightly lower gas prices, so that's good news.
00:20:06.160 Yeah, this is the kind of positive news we've wanted.
00:20:07.640 Really good economic news, including dropping gas prices.
00:20:10.340 Gas prices will tumble below $3 a gallon soon.
00:20:13.980 So that's good news.
00:20:15.240 Soon.
00:20:15.960 It's going to happen soon.
00:20:17.360 That's the news.
00:20:18.220 The news is a thing that I'm predicting will happen in the future
00:20:21.060 because the news of what's actually going on is so bad
00:20:23.900 and devastating for the liberal establishment
00:20:25.880 that I can't even report on that.
00:20:27.800 But in the future, I bet it'll be better.
00:20:30.680 So that will be good news when that happens.
00:20:35.480 My favorite one there is gas prices down almost a nickel.
00:20:38.260 Wow, really great news, huh?
00:20:40.880 Almost a shiny nickel down.
00:20:43.920 The only one there who even has the impulse to try to be kind of honest
00:20:48.260 is Jake Tapper, but he's still got to read all the talking points
00:20:51.620 because he still works for the corporate media.
00:20:53.340 So he just goes, gas prices are down.
00:20:55.520 You know, it's only a little bit.
00:20:58.200 Mr. Zucker, do I really have to say?
00:20:59.960 Okay, I do.
00:21:00.500 I guess I do because I'm the propaganda arm of the liberal establishment.
00:21:05.140 The media are becoming more brazen in their attacks
00:21:10.720 and their defense of the establishment and their attacks on us,
00:21:14.440 the people that they perceive to be their enemies.
00:21:16.820 So Joy Reid on MSNBC is really upset at Elon Musk.
00:21:22.560 She's upset because Elon Musk was attacked on Twitter by Elizabeth Warren.
00:21:30.820 And so Elon Musk just keeps trolling Elizabeth Warren.
00:21:33.600 She says, you know, you haven't done anything.
00:21:35.340 You're not productive.
00:21:36.360 You're not, you're a leech on society.
00:21:37.900 And so that sort of thing.
00:21:39.120 And Elon responds and says, hey, stop projecting, lady.
00:21:41.700 And then they keep, you know, they keep going back and forth.
00:21:43.680 And he's like, hey, listen, Senator Karen.
00:21:45.420 You know, and he just keeps, he's trolling this lady.
00:21:48.420 But Joy Reid is very upset because Elon,
00:21:52.300 Elon Musk is not allowed to use Karen,
00:21:55.440 which is a racial slur against white people,
00:21:59.360 white women specifically,
00:22:00.500 because Elon Musk, even though he's an African-American,
00:22:03.460 Elon Musk is not black.
00:22:04.740 And so he's not, he's not allowed to say that.
00:22:07.680 Elon wasn't happy.
00:22:08.540 So he did what he always did
00:22:09.640 and stomped his little feet and insulted Senator Warren,
00:22:12.540 calling her an angry mom
00:22:13.720 and referring to her as Senator Karen.
00:22:16.700 So for so many reasons,
00:22:18.140 being a freeloader and a selfish and disrespectful one,
00:22:20.900 and for misappropriating black vernacular
00:22:23.000 for misogynistic purposes,
00:22:24.760 Elon Musk is the absolute worst.
00:22:26.220 Meanwhile, Senator Warren has better things to do
00:22:28.680 than fight with Junior Birdman on Twitter.
00:22:32.660 She's angry with him for appropriating black vernacular,
00:22:37.600 the black vernacular being a slur against white people.
00:22:43.440 She, her response to this is actually,
00:22:46.060 hey, you can't use that.
00:22:47.640 That's our word.
00:22:48.920 That's our word.
00:22:50.000 This would be like a white person
00:22:53.200 getting angry at a black person for using the N-word
00:22:56.940 and saying, hey, black people, you can't use the N-word.
00:23:00.800 That's our word for you.
00:23:02.520 That's our, that's our derisive and derogatory term for you.
00:23:06.140 You can't do that.
00:23:07.360 And that, that is what she's saying about, about Karen.
00:23:10.680 And she, and she's saying it to an African-American,
00:23:13.100 which is even more, even more outrageous.
00:23:15.680 It shows you also that racism,
00:23:19.980 if the word means anything anymore,
00:23:21.940 I'm not sure that it does,
00:23:22.920 but racism against white people
00:23:25.560 is the only acceptable form of racism.
00:23:29.960 And it's not only acceptable,
00:23:32.400 and it's not only legal,
00:23:34.080 and it's legal to discriminate,
00:23:35.420 but it's also encouraged.
00:23:37.680 Which shows you that white privilege
00:23:41.300 is quite the opposite.
00:23:42.640 And it shows you that the races that we think are oppressed
00:23:46.740 and the races that we think are the oppressors,
00:23:49.140 actually, it's probably the opposite, right?
00:23:50.520 At least, at least in terms of the culture
00:23:52.400 and even in terms of the law.
00:23:54.740 When you think about the races
00:23:55.820 that it's legal to discriminate against
00:23:57.680 in, say, college admissions,
00:23:59.820 it's white people and Asian people too,
00:24:02.280 because they get lumped in for whatever reason.
00:24:04.500 But, but that is some brazen stuff.
00:24:08.900 That is, maybe, should we, I can't,
00:24:10.400 we can't test it out.
00:24:11.220 We can't test out the theory
00:24:12.440 and do it in the other way,
00:24:14.240 because if any white person did that,
00:24:16.260 of course they would lose their job.
00:24:19.000 Speaking of race-baiting hypocrites,
00:24:20.720 Maxine Waters is really, really
00:24:23.440 pushing the limits.
00:24:26.780 And, you know, when you want to,
00:24:28.240 when you really want to
00:24:29.720 delve into spectacularly interesting stories,
00:24:34.800 such as what Maxine Waters does on airplanes,
00:24:37.000 when you want to delve into
00:24:37.760 even more interesting stories,
00:24:39.600 you got to check out
00:24:40.280 The Jordan Harbinger Show.
00:24:41.420 We've got a really different
00:24:42.880 and interesting kind of sponsor
00:24:44.020 for this episode.
00:24:44.760 That would be
00:24:45.020 The Jordan Harbinger Show,
00:24:46.700 which is a podcast
00:24:47.420 you really have to listen to.
00:24:49.680 Recently, Jordan had on Oliver North,
00:24:51.880 and the woke mob
00:24:53.000 really came after him for this.
00:24:55.180 He said that he's been getting attacked
00:24:56.620 just for doing the interview,
00:24:57.880 and I highly recommend you check it out.
00:24:59.720 Jordan's show,
00:25:00.740 which Apple named
00:25:01.440 one of its best of 2018,
00:25:03.420 is aimed at making you
00:25:04.900 a better informed,
00:25:06.080 more critical thinker,
00:25:06.980 so you can get a sense
00:25:07.840 of how the world actually works
00:25:09.360 and come to your own conclusions
00:25:10.780 about what's happening,
00:25:11.740 even inside your own brain.
00:25:14.740 Each episode is a conversation
00:25:15.920 with a different fascinating guest,
00:25:17.760 and when I say there's something
00:25:18.620 for everyone here,
00:25:19.320 I really mean that.
00:25:20.280 In one episode,
00:25:21.400 Jordan talks to a hostage negotiator
00:25:23.360 from the FBI
00:25:24.080 who offers techniques
00:25:25.280 on how to get people
00:25:26.340 to like and trust you,
00:25:28.380 which sounds pretty useful.
00:25:29.660 Maybe, you know,
00:25:30.580 a little worrying,
00:25:31.360 but useful too.
00:25:32.440 Lots of science,
00:25:33.680 and also some pretty wild stories
00:25:34.940 from spies and mobsters
00:25:36.440 and art forgers.
00:25:37.800 This guy's got everything.
00:25:38.720 I really love it.
00:25:39.840 If that is not worth checking out,
00:25:41.380 I don't know what is.
00:25:42.420 We enjoy the show.
00:25:43.320 We think you will too.
00:25:44.120 There is so much there.

00:26:00.560 Maxine Waters
00:26:01.500 is really upset
00:26:04.220 when people
00:26:05.260 don't wear face masks.
00:26:07.160 She's really upset by that.
00:26:08.420 You'll remember last year
00:26:09.760 she tweeted out,
00:26:11.820 quote,
00:26:12.120 take a chance,
00:26:13.060 remind an unvaccinated person
00:26:14.380 to put on a mask
00:26:15.180 and if they get angry,
00:26:16.140 you know,
00:26:16.300 just tell them,
00:26:16.760 get six feet away from me,
00:26:17.820 keep going.
00:26:18.220 She went on TV,
00:26:19.140 made the same exact point.
00:26:20.640 I tweeted
00:26:21.440 something that said
00:26:23.280 if you see someone
00:26:24.180 without a mask,
00:26:26.240 ask them
00:26:27.140 if they would like
00:26:29.420 to wear a mask.
00:26:30.460 should they be wearing a mask?
00:26:32.020 And I said,
00:26:32.700 you're taking a chance
00:26:33.680 and if they get angry,
00:26:36.060 just walk away
00:26:36.980 and say six feet away.
00:26:39.240 And so,
00:26:40.260 I know that
00:26:41.940 not everybody believes
00:26:43.360 that they should wear a mask
00:26:44.660 and the president
00:26:45.600 of the United States
00:26:46.540 has not helped
00:26:47.380 by not wearing a mask.
00:26:49.960 Pence,
00:26:50.660 the vice president,
00:26:51.600 has not helped
00:26:52.340 doing tours
00:26:54.040 and not wearing a mask.
00:26:56.060 But now I understand
00:26:57.240 that someone close
00:26:59.160 to the president
00:27:00.440 who serves the president
00:27:02.000 in a,
00:27:02.600 you know,
00:27:03.200 a staff capacity
00:27:04.280 is infected.
00:27:06.060 And I'm wondering
00:27:06.620 if this is going
00:27:07.400 to encourage him
00:27:08.280 more to wear a mask
00:27:10.080 and be a good example.
00:27:11.400 Be a good example
00:27:12.280 that,
00:27:13.400 you know,
00:27:13.960 not only are you asking
00:27:15.000 others to wear a mask,
00:27:16.420 but you're doing it yourself.
00:27:18.120 To be a good example,
00:27:19.900 you got to be a good example
00:27:21.520 and you know exactly
00:27:22.620 where this story is going.
00:27:23.800 I don't,
00:27:24.820 you know exactly
00:27:25.740 where this is going.
00:27:27.660 Someone yesterday
00:27:28.920 texts me a picture
00:27:30.140 of Maxine Waters
00:27:32.360 on an airplane
00:27:33.120 not wearing a mask.
00:27:35.000 And so we break the story.
00:27:36.480 Daily Wire breaks the story.
00:27:37.520 You can see it.
00:27:38.200 It's all over.
00:27:38.820 It's gone viral.
00:27:39.600 There she is.
00:27:40.180 She's a hypocrite.
00:27:41.020 She's not wearing a mask.
00:27:43.080 I try not to wear
00:27:44.100 a mask on airplanes.
00:27:45.060 Unfortunately for me,
00:27:46.380 often the stewardess
00:27:47.860 will come down
00:27:48.320 and say,
00:27:48.540 put your mask on
00:27:49.180 or I'm going to
00:27:49.740 throw you off the airplane.
00:27:51.140 So we have to do it.
00:27:51.880 But we're the little people
00:27:52.640 and then the big people
00:27:53.460 like Maxine Waters,
00:27:54.940 they can do
00:27:55.500 whatever they want.
00:27:56.200 She obviously
00:27:56.980 doesn't believe
00:27:57.640 what she's saying
00:27:58.220 about the masks.
00:27:59.060 She's obviously
00:27:59.580 not afraid of the virus.
00:28:01.480 She just wants you
00:28:03.040 to wear the mask.
00:28:03.720 Now,
00:28:04.640 there are a few levels
00:28:07.980 here to what the masks are.
00:28:10.440 And the further you go,
00:28:12.500 the more clear
00:28:13.300 the understanding
00:28:13.980 you will have
00:28:14.580 of what the masks are about.
00:28:16.460 The basic,
00:28:17.540 most shallow level
00:28:18.620 is that the masks
00:28:19.840 are about protecting
00:28:20.800 public health.
00:28:22.060 I just don't think
00:28:23.040 that's true.
00:28:24.420 I think that
00:28:25.540 our rulers
00:28:26.460 have contradicted
00:28:28.280 themselves on masks
00:28:29.440 constantly.
00:28:30.440 Dr. Fauci did that.
00:28:31.240 He said,
00:28:31.480 don't wear the masks,
00:28:32.200 the masks don't work.
00:28:33.060 At the height of the pandemic,
00:28:34.320 he said,
00:28:34.620 don't wear the masks,
00:28:35.200 the masks don't work.
00:28:35.980 Then five seconds later,
00:28:36.980 he says,
00:28:37.360 no, actually,
00:28:37.940 you have to wear the masks.
00:28:39.480 Then he admitted
00:28:40.200 that he lied about
00:28:40.900 his beliefs on the masks.
00:28:42.660 Then he went
00:28:43.360 and tried to throw out
00:28:44.700 a pitch at
00:28:45.720 the Nationals
00:28:46.600 baseball stadium
00:28:47.460 and he dribbled the pitch.
00:28:49.280 You know,
00:28:49.420 it kind of dribbled
00:28:50.100 to the first baseline.
00:28:51.780 But he wore the mask
00:28:53.280 on the pitcher's mound
00:28:54.100 when there was
00:28:54.460 no one around him.
00:28:55.200 Then when he was
00:28:55.640 sitting up in the stands
00:28:56.400 with his buddies,
00:28:56.960 he took the mask off
00:28:57.800 and was just kind of
00:28:58.340 hanging out.
00:28:59.040 He wasn't really eating.
00:28:59.900 He wasn't really drinking.
00:29:00.620 He just had it off
00:29:01.240 because the masks
00:29:01.920 are extremely uncomfortable
00:29:03.620 and dumb.
00:29:05.700 There have been
00:29:06.680 plenty of other photos
00:29:07.480 of Dr. Fauci
00:29:08.140 getting caught
00:29:08.560 with the mask off
00:29:09.300 when he thought
00:29:09.640 the cameras were not
00:29:10.360 around him.
00:29:10.800 Then the cameras
00:29:11.240 are on him
00:29:11.680 and he puts the mask
00:29:12.580 back on.
00:29:13.020 You see this in San Francisco.
00:29:14.480 Mayor of San Francisco
00:29:15.440 tells everyone
00:29:16.300 they got to wear the masks
00:29:17.160 and then she goes
00:29:17.700 to a nightclub
00:29:18.260 and just starts dancing
00:29:19.180 and doesn't wear the mask.
00:29:21.060 Pelosi got caught.
00:29:22.320 Liz Warren got caught.
00:29:23.760 Maxine Waters
00:29:24.240 has been caught
00:29:24.640 multiple times.
00:29:26.480 So I don't think
00:29:27.460 it's about public health.
00:29:28.660 I don't think
00:29:29.300 these people believe
00:29:30.020 anything that they're saying.
00:29:32.500 It's also not
00:29:33.860 just about
00:29:35.180 making people
00:29:36.180 wear the masks.
00:29:37.060 I don't think
00:29:37.620 it's quite
00:29:38.140 that they themselves
00:29:40.360 want to exempt themselves
00:29:41.540 from a rule
00:29:42.540 that they want
00:29:43.200 all the other people
00:29:44.080 to follow.
00:29:44.640 I don't think they care
00:29:45.560 if all the other people
00:29:46.520 wear the masks.
00:29:47.780 When BLM was rioting,
00:29:50.100 no one was checking
00:29:50.920 the masks.
00:29:52.160 In fact,
00:29:52.580 there were a number,
00:29:53.600 over a thousand
00:29:54.240 public health officials
00:29:55.480 who came out
00:29:56.480 and said
00:29:56.960 that despite
00:29:59.520 shutting down
00:30:00.320 all large gatherings,
00:30:02.160 despite having
00:30:03.820 previously said
00:30:04.600 that all large gatherings
00:30:06.040 were really bad
00:30:06.880 and going to spread
00:30:07.460 coronavirus
00:30:07.920 and were potentially
00:30:09.060 deadly,
00:30:10.340 they said
00:30:11.040 BLM protests
00:30:12.520 are good.
00:30:13.360 They'll actually
00:30:13.860 help the public health
00:30:14.940 because white supremacy
00:30:16.220 is a public health
00:30:17.500 problem
00:30:17.920 that predates
00:30:19.040 and contributes
00:30:19.720 to COVID-19.
00:30:21.440 They wrote a whole
00:30:21.840 letter about this.
00:30:23.300 Over a thousand
00:30:23.800 of them signed it.
00:30:25.720 So it's not just
00:30:26.740 about making people
00:30:27.840 wear the masks.
00:30:29.500 It's about making
00:30:30.600 you wear the masks.
00:30:32.980 They don't care
00:30:34.180 if their friends
00:30:35.240 and supporters
00:30:36.140 wear the masks.
00:30:37.980 They don't care
00:30:38.780 at all.
00:30:40.280 They care
00:30:41.140 if you,
00:30:42.820 their opponents,
00:30:43.660 the people
00:30:44.380 that they perceive
00:30:45.100 as enemies
00:30:45.900 wear the masks
00:30:47.240 and they are doing it
00:30:48.200 to make you
00:30:49.060 comply
00:30:50.220 and submit
00:30:51.260 to their capricious
00:30:52.900 and arbitrary rule.
00:30:54.900 That's what it's about.
00:30:56.340 That's what it's
00:30:56.980 always been about.
00:30:58.520 Some of us
00:30:59.320 have been pointing
00:31:00.020 that out
00:31:00.520 from the very early days
00:31:02.540 and some people
00:31:04.380 didn't totally believe that
00:31:05.580 and I get it.
00:31:07.060 This is a novel phenomenon
00:31:08.760 but I think now
00:31:10.280 at this point,
00:31:11.120 I don't know
00:31:11.820 how many pictures
00:31:12.540 of Maxine Waters
00:31:14.280 and Pelosi
00:31:14.840 and Fauci
00:31:15.380 and Biden
00:31:16.040 and all these other people
00:31:17.160 not following
00:31:18.180 their own rules
00:31:18.820 and not enforcing
00:31:19.640 their own rules
00:31:20.160 on their supporters.
00:31:21.020 You need to see
00:31:21.540 before you realize
00:31:22.240 the true nature
00:31:22.940 of the mask
00:31:23.760 as a political symbol
00:31:25.660 almost entirely divorced
00:31:28.620 from public health
00:31:29.860 at this point
00:31:30.420 to make you submit.
00:31:34.120 You have to submit.
00:31:36.220 This is what they are
00:31:37.620 now telling us
00:31:38.680 openly,
00:31:39.520 explicitly.
00:31:40.380 Jim Cramer,
00:31:40.920 the eccentric stocks guy
00:31:43.080 on CNBC,
00:31:44.300 he has become more vocal
00:31:45.760 about his leftist
00:31:46.680 political views recently.
00:31:47.860 He tweeted out
00:31:48.520 just a couple days ago,
00:31:49.860 quote,
00:31:51.460 government has a right
00:31:53.040 to force you
00:31:54.240 to obey
00:31:54.980 and has always exercised it,
00:31:57.580 especially under the GOP.
00:31:59.760 There are two main reactions
00:32:01.820 to this tweet,
00:32:02.720 both of which are wrong.
00:32:05.420 The libs
00:32:06.260 are retweeting it
00:32:08.020 and saying,
00:32:08.260 yes,
00:32:08.980 yes,
00:32:09.520 slay queen,
00:32:10.480 yes,
00:32:11.040 you're so right,
00:32:11.840 Jim.
00:32:12.480 Government can make you
00:32:13.740 obey whatever they want
00:32:14.700 and you better do it
00:32:15.800 and that's that.
00:32:18.280 The libertarians,
00:32:20.300 and I guess a lot of people
00:32:21.380 on the right,
00:32:22.020 but really because of
00:32:23.400 some of the libertarian
00:32:24.700 premises
00:32:25.500 that we've
00:32:26.300 taken on
00:32:27.740 over recent years,
00:32:29.440 they say,
00:32:30.140 no,
00:32:30.280 the government has no right
00:32:31.460 to make you obey,
00:32:32.620 not a right at all,
00:32:34.260 and they don't,
00:32:35.180 and they shouldn't exercise,
00:32:36.320 and that's wrong to,
00:32:37.300 my body,
00:32:37.920 my choice,
00:32:38.340 or whatever they're saying now,
00:32:39.020 even though we don't believe that
00:32:39.820 when it comes to abortion
00:32:40.560 and other things,
00:32:41.400 or drug laws even,
00:32:43.020 or any other number of issues.
00:32:45.180 The real answer here,
00:32:47.540 I'll just edit
00:32:48.320 Jim Cramer's quote.
00:32:50.140 Government
00:32:50.580 sometimes
00:32:52.100 has a right
00:32:53.320 to force you to obey
00:32:54.380 and has
00:32:55.580 sometimes
00:32:56.900 exercised it,
00:32:58.140 sometimes under
00:32:58.780 Democrat administrations,
00:32:59.800 sometimes under
00:33:00.320 Republican administrations.
00:33:01.980 There are just laws
00:33:03.140 and there are unjust laws.
00:33:04.720 First of all,
00:33:05.420 going back to Romans,
00:33:06.300 going back to Paul's letter
00:33:07.340 to the Romans,
00:33:08.240 the government is there
00:33:09.040 for our own good.
00:33:09.960 The rulers are there,
00:33:11.180 placed there by God.
00:33:12.140 If you're a Christian,
00:33:12.680 you believe the government
00:33:13.320 is placed there by God
00:33:14.600 for our own good,
00:33:15.840 and that's very hard
00:33:17.280 sometimes for,
00:33:18.620 especially libertarians,
00:33:19.720 to get around to,
00:33:20.880 but they are there
00:33:21.560 for our own good.
00:33:22.300 You do need rule,
00:33:23.120 you do need law,
00:33:23.860 you do need systems of government,
00:33:25.100 and that's a good thing
00:33:25.860 to have them.
00:33:27.620 Also,
00:33:28.360 there are just laws
00:33:29.740 and unjust laws,
00:33:31.360 and it's not always
00:33:32.340 exactly clear
00:33:33.280 quite where it falls,
00:33:34.000 and sometimes a law
00:33:34.900 can be bad
00:33:35.680 and not great,
00:33:36.900 but still you are
00:33:38.660 obliged to follow it,
00:33:39.860 but sometimes
00:33:40.540 you are not obliged
00:33:41.500 to follow it.
00:33:42.620 This is Thomas Aquinas 101,
00:33:44.680 this is political theory 101,
00:33:46.600 and sometimes laws
00:33:47.740 are so egregious
00:33:48.500 that you are obliged
00:33:49.720 not to follow it.
00:33:51.760 You are actually obligated
00:33:53.220 not to go along
00:33:54.320 with unjust laws,
00:33:56.120 and so it requires prudence,
00:33:57.840 it requires thought,
00:33:59.040 it requires judgment.
00:34:00.360 You can't put that ideology
00:34:01.520 on the back of a napkin,
00:34:02.600 and you can't put it
00:34:04.020 in a tweet from a CNBC
00:34:05.300 shrieking lunatic,
00:34:07.020 but that's the way
00:34:07.660 it really is.
00:34:09.240 Speaking of not complying,
00:34:10.720 not only was the Daily Wire
00:34:11.780 the first company
00:34:12.780 in the country
00:34:13.180 to sue the Biden administration
00:34:14.840 for their
00:34:15.360 unconstitutional mandates,
00:34:17.080 we're also
00:34:18.180 less than
00:34:19.040 100,000 signatures
00:34:21.240 away from hitting
00:34:21.800 our goal of
00:34:22.240 1 million signatures
00:34:23.060 on the
00:34:23.480 Do Not Comply petition.
00:34:25.540 Reaching 1 million signatures
00:34:27.360 would provide
00:34:28.440 a major boost
00:34:29.240 to our legal challenge.
00:34:30.160 We got over 900,000 so far.
00:34:33.100 We need your help
00:34:33.620 to cross that finish line.
00:34:34.920 Please sign the petition

00:34:36.840 slash do not comply.
00:34:38.760 Then,
00:34:39.260 please share the petition
00:34:40.360 with all of your friends
00:34:42.180 and family.
00:34:43.020 In case you haven't heard,
00:34:43.700 by the way,

00:34:45.280 a new exclusive
00:34:46.240 Daily Wire series

00:34:48.380 with his closest

00:34:50.400 for personal
00:34:51.800 and relaxed conversations.
00:34:53.220 When am I going
00:34:53.580 to get the invite?
00:34:54.460 I haven't gotten the invite
00:34:55.480 for this relaxed conversation.
00:34:56.920 On a recent trip
00:34:57.580 to Nashville,
00:34:58.040 Jordan Peterson
00:34:58.600 sat down with Ben
00:34:59.560 in a local coffee shop
00:35:00.860 to start the series off.
00:35:02.300 The premiere episode

00:35:16.820 We'll be right back
00:35:17.440 with The Mailbag.
00:35:17.880 Welcome back
00:35:31.160 to The Mailbag.
00:35:32.300 First question up
00:35:33.000 from Philip.
00:35:34.060 Dear,
00:35:35.000 an author who has,
00:35:36.020 an author has no words
00:35:36.940 in olds,
00:35:38.360 Shapiro did a video
00:35:39.360 listing off
00:35:39.920 the greatest Christmas movies
00:35:40.960 of all time
00:35:41.500 as someone who actually
00:35:42.400 celebrates Christmas.
00:35:43.780 What do you think
00:35:44.340 are the best movies
00:35:45.140 to watch this Christmas season?
00:35:47.400 Sincerely,
00:35:47.960 all I want for Christmas
00:35:49.160 is to never hear
00:35:50.600 Mariah Carey again.
00:35:52.520 Fair enough.
00:35:54.520 The greatest Christmas movie
00:35:56.280 of all time.
00:36:00.220 Miracle on 34th Street
00:36:01.540 is very good.
00:36:03.280 Everyone always says
00:36:04.080 it's a wonderful life.
00:36:05.060 It's actually not.
00:36:05.560 That's not my favorite
00:36:06.140 Christmas movie,
00:36:06.900 but you know,
00:36:07.360 fine.
00:36:07.840 That's fine.
00:36:10.280 Home Alone,
00:36:11.300 I think,
00:36:11.720 was the last great
00:36:12.940 Christmas movie.
00:36:14.380 I'm not saying
00:36:14.700 it's the greatest,
00:36:15.560 but it's the last
00:36:16.460 really,
00:36:17.160 really great
00:36:17.660 magical Christmas movie.
00:36:20.020 And then,
00:36:20.560 of course,
00:36:20.900 I've got to give you
00:36:21.480 the only Christmas movie
00:36:22.800 that I have watched
00:36:23.700 this year,
00:36:25.040 re-watched this year
00:36:25.900 with my wife.
00:36:28.160 And that would be
00:36:28.640 Jingle All the Way.
00:36:29.820 An amazing movie.
00:36:31.780 You've got
00:36:32.160 Arnold Schwarzenegger,
00:36:33.920 Sinbad
00:36:34.500 at the height
00:36:35.080 of his powers,
00:36:35.960 Phil Hartman.
00:36:37.180 It's a great movie.
00:36:38.660 It's genuinely funny.
00:36:40.980 Phil Hartman
00:36:41.520 is a scream
00:36:42.280 as he always is.
00:36:43.480 It's actually
00:36:44.340 heartwarming.
00:36:45.620 It's a great movie.
00:36:46.980 Highly,
00:36:47.400 highly recommended.
00:36:48.160 From Mircea.
00:36:50.180 I hope I'm pronouncing
00:36:51.020 that right.
00:36:51.380 Dear Michael,
00:36:52.160 I'm a big fan
00:36:52.760 of your show
00:36:53.200 and your book
00:36:53.620 Speechless,
00:36:54.220 and your podcast
00:36:54.840 has actually made me
00:36:55.520 return to Christianity,
00:36:56.580 in particular Orthodox
00:36:57.340 Christianity.
00:36:57.880 Wow,
00:36:58.040 that's cool.
00:36:58.460 That's great.
00:36:59.560 We'll get you over
00:37:00.080 to be Catholic
00:37:00.680 soon enough,
00:37:01.240 but I'll tell you,
00:37:01.620 Orthodox,
00:37:02.260 that's a good place
00:37:03.640 to get to,
00:37:04.080 a good place to start.
00:37:05.320 While I'm very happy
00:37:06.740 with my personal turn
00:37:07.640 toward faith
00:37:08.260 and conservatism,
00:37:09.120 I am more skeptical
00:37:10.500 about seeing something
00:37:11.440 similar at a social level
00:37:13.220 against progressivism.
00:37:17.440 I'm not sure that,
00:37:18.300 maybe we're missing
00:37:19.000 a few words here,
00:37:19.640 I'm not quite sure.
00:37:20.620 Is conservatism just
00:37:21.820 delaying the inevitable
00:37:23.200 slippery slope
00:37:24.280 to more extreme liberalism?
00:37:26.460 Is tomorrow's Republican
00:37:27.480 just today's Democrat,
00:37:29.260 or are there reasons
00:37:30.340 to hope for broader
00:37:31.240 social restoration?
00:37:32.760 Respectfully,
00:37:33.440 yours,
00:37:33.760 the Orthodox Christian,
00:37:34.680 Michael.
00:37:34.880 Sometimes people
00:37:37.680 misunderstand
00:37:38.280 what Bill Buckley
00:37:39.280 said when he said
00:37:40.740 in the first issue
00:37:41.540 of National Review
00:37:42.280 that a conservative
00:37:43.480 is one who stands
00:37:44.320 athwart history
00:37:45.060 yelling stop
00:37:46.040 at a time when few,
00:37:47.660 if any,
00:37:47.920 are inclined to do so.
00:37:51.280 That gives the impression
00:37:52.460 that all we're doing
00:37:53.400 is standing athwart
00:37:55.460 the tides of progressivism
00:37:56.740 and usually getting
00:37:57.420 kind of run over
00:37:58.140 or at least backed up
00:37:59.260 into a corner,
00:37:59.760 but we're saying stop,
00:38:00.400 stop, stop,
00:38:00.720 and we're at least
00:38:01.160 slowing it down.
00:38:01.960 But what I believe
00:38:05.880 he's referring to there
00:38:06.720 is the communist idea
00:38:09.820 of history,
00:38:10.960 capital H,
00:38:11.780 the idea,
00:38:12.280 you hear this,
00:38:13.100 versions of this
00:38:13.720 when leftists use the phrase
00:38:15.500 the right side of history,
00:38:16.600 this idea that history
00:38:17.780 is unfolding along
00:38:19.360 a very specific logic
00:38:20.940 and we basically
00:38:21.960 have nothing
00:38:22.580 that we can do
00:38:23.660 to stop it.
00:38:24.460 We can accelerate it,
00:38:25.320 but we can't stop it.
00:38:26.980 And I think Buckley
00:38:28.480 is mocking
00:38:29.260 this communist concept
00:38:31.680 of history as such.
00:38:35.440 So, no,
00:38:36.360 I don't think conservatives
00:38:37.180 are merely
00:38:37.880 just saying stop,
00:38:39.300 stop, stop,
00:38:39.720 and then losing
00:38:40.280 because there's no way
00:38:40.940 to stop time.
00:38:42.160 You know,
00:38:42.400 to use a Chestertonian analogy,
00:38:45.560 when you leave
00:38:46.240 white picket fence
00:38:47.640 alone in a field,
00:38:48.880 you're not going to come back
00:38:50.060 two years later
00:38:50.780 to a white fence.
00:38:51.580 You're going to come back
00:38:51.980 to a very dirty fence,
00:38:53.200 actually a black fence probably
00:38:54.740 because of all the dirt
00:38:56.040 and the soot
00:38:56.800 and all the stuff
00:38:57.480 that's going to be on it.
00:38:58.600 Right?
00:38:58.780 Things are always changing.
00:38:59.840 There's no way
00:39:00.240 to just freeze time.
00:39:02.640 But I do think
00:39:03.780 that conservatives
00:39:05.000 can offer an alternative.
00:39:07.640 Right now,
00:39:08.360 it's a little tough
00:39:09.020 because what passes
00:39:11.520 for conservatism
00:39:12.540 in America
00:39:13.060 is really usually
00:39:14.420 just a form of liberalism.
00:39:16.100 We accept the same premises
00:39:17.220 as the libs
00:39:18.460 and the progressives
00:39:19.220 and the leftists.
00:39:19.920 For instance,
00:39:20.600 that the individual
00:39:21.300 is the basic unit
00:39:22.160 of society.
00:39:23.500 That's what the libs believe.
00:39:25.080 That's what the leftists believe.
00:39:26.740 They think that the individual
00:39:27.820 is the basic unit
00:39:28.740 and individuals ought to be able
00:39:29.720 to do basically
00:39:30.300 whatever they want
00:39:31.040 and the way to arrange society
00:39:32.320 is by taking all those
00:39:33.220 atomized individuals
00:39:34.060 and clumping them together.
00:39:36.580 And what the libertarian types
00:39:40.820 on the right believe
00:39:41.480 is just that we shouldn't
00:39:42.240 clump them together.
00:39:43.680 That yes,
00:39:44.460 the individual is the basic unit
00:39:45.500 of society,
00:39:46.000 but just don't clump them together.
00:39:47.240 And what the conservatives believe
00:39:48.560 is that the individual
00:39:50.540 is not the basic unit
00:39:51.360 of society.
00:39:51.860 Actually,
00:39:52.280 the family is the basic unit
00:39:53.740 of society.
00:39:55.100 The left believes
00:39:55.880 you're born into society
00:39:56.900 with certain abstract rights
00:39:59.340 and we're known primarily
00:40:00.840 by our abstract rights
00:40:02.080 and they usually list
00:40:02.740 a bunch of positive rights
00:40:03.660 like the right to healthcare
00:40:04.380 and the right to education
00:40:05.180 and the right to whatever.
00:40:07.480 The libertarians believe
00:40:08.600 we're born with a bunch
00:40:09.360 of abstract rights
00:40:10.160 and that's the primary way
00:40:11.300 of viewing our politics
00:40:12.300 and those are mostly
00:40:13.660 negative rights,
00:40:14.400 right to life
00:40:15.740 and liberty
00:40:16.520 and the pursuit of happiness.
00:40:19.180 Conservatives believe
00:40:19.880 that we are born primarily
00:40:20.960 with obligations.
00:40:22.300 I'm not saying
00:40:22.560 we don't have rights,
00:40:23.200 but it's primarily obligations
00:40:24.840 and duty
00:40:26.020 and loyalty
00:40:27.060 and filial piety
00:40:29.000 and we didn't come in,
00:40:31.080 we didn't create ourselves
00:40:31.840 in this world,
00:40:32.380 we're not going to decide
00:40:33.380 hopefully when we leave
00:40:34.160 this world
00:40:34.580 and we have obligations
00:40:35.580 to our families
00:40:36.200 and our communities
00:40:36.780 and ultimately to our God.
00:40:39.360 You'll notice that the leftists
00:40:40.980 and the libertarians
00:40:41.880 agree on a lot of basic stuff
00:40:43.640 which is why we keep losing
00:40:45.120 because if we're just following
00:40:46.180 the libertarian strain of things
00:40:47.380 then we're just going to end up
00:40:48.420 where the left wants us to.
00:40:50.240 But if we follow
00:40:52.180 the conservative way
00:40:54.280 of viewing things
00:40:54.980 we're going to have
00:40:56.300 very different premises
00:40:57.100 and we're going to end up
00:40:58.060 in a very different place.
00:40:59.780 And so my suggestion here is
00:41:01.380 that American conservatives
00:41:03.360 need to become
00:41:04.040 much more conservative
00:41:05.260 and stop unwittingly
00:41:08.240 buying into the premises
00:41:09.180 of the libs.
00:41:10.580 From Sarah.
00:41:12.200 Hi Michael.
00:41:13.420 I have a childhood friend
00:41:14.600 who was also
00:41:15.080 my next door neighbor.
00:41:16.020 As young girls
00:41:16.520 we played almost every day
00:41:17.840 and grew up together.
00:41:18.700 After high school
00:41:19.280 we grew apart
00:41:19.900 but still remained friends.
00:41:20.900 We're now in our 30s
00:41:21.980 and over the last 5 years
00:41:23.140 or so
00:41:23.600 she has come out
00:41:24.860 as transgender.
00:41:26.820 Okay.
00:41:27.780 She now refers to herself
00:41:29.140 with male pronouns
00:41:30.060 and has changed her name
00:41:31.520 to a masculine one.
00:41:33.640 She's even had her breasts removed.
00:41:35.060 Oh gosh it's awful.
00:41:36.320 I feel like I'm in mourning.
00:41:37.300 It feels like she died
00:41:38.300 and this guy
00:41:38.960 is the one who killed her.
00:41:40.340 I know I'll see her
00:41:41.260 this Christmas
00:41:41.760 when I visit my mom's house.
00:41:43.220 I know on the inside
00:41:44.000 that she's still the kind
00:41:44.960 and fun person I grew up with
00:41:46.160 but I'm having a hard time
00:41:47.000 with who she is now.
00:41:48.180 Should I keep this friendship
00:41:49.320 or should I let it go?
00:41:52.080 Well
00:41:52.540 I would never
00:41:54.740 suggest
00:41:56.040 abandoning your friends
00:41:57.400 when they're in the throes
00:41:58.360 of mental illness
00:41:59.240 or physical illness
00:42:00.100 for that matter.
00:42:00.780 Your friend is suffering
00:42:01.980 from
00:42:02.580 delusions
00:42:04.080 and psychological problems
00:42:05.900 and probably spiritual problems
00:42:07.700 that are being compounded
00:42:08.820 by a mass societal delusion
00:42:10.880 that is reinforcing
00:42:12.140 all of her fantasies.
00:42:13.960 And so that's bad.
00:42:15.280 I mean that's really bad.
00:42:17.500 I have friends
00:42:18.040 who have
00:42:18.880 a number of friends
00:42:20.280 who have dealt
00:42:20.860 with mental problems.
00:42:22.420 A number of friends
00:42:23.000 who've dealt
00:42:23.260 with physical problems.
00:42:24.700 And I don't think
00:42:25.200 it's good to just abandon them
00:42:26.300 and say like
00:42:26.680 oh well
00:42:27.180 you know you had a
00:42:28.980 you had a brain injury
00:42:29.860 well now I'm not going
00:42:30.660 to talk to you.
00:42:32.100 Oh well
00:42:32.560 you got into a car accident
00:42:33.700 well now I'm not going
00:42:34.400 to talk to you.
00:42:34.860 That's probably not a good idea.
00:42:36.620 Now some of this
00:42:37.140 might not be up to you
00:42:37.980 because
00:42:39.080 I don't think
00:42:40.540 that you should
00:42:41.080 indulge the delusion.
00:42:43.360 I don't think
00:42:44.040 you should say
00:42:44.460 oh how wonderful
00:42:45.360 it is that you've
00:42:46.040 mutilated yourself
00:42:46.860 and are laboring
00:42:48.340 under this false idea
00:42:49.360 that you're actually
00:42:49.860 a dude.
00:42:51.060 You shouldn't do that.
00:42:52.600 And your friend
00:42:53.080 may be so far gone
00:42:55.960 that she will not
00:42:58.400 be friends with you
00:42:59.180 if you won't
00:42:59.880 indulge her fantasies.
00:43:02.020 So you may end up
00:43:03.020 losing your friend
00:43:03.640 but I wouldn't be
00:43:04.240 the one to do it.
00:43:05.000 I wouldn't recommend
00:43:05.920 saying like
00:43:06.400 okay see you darling.
00:43:08.300 I would you know
00:43:09.180 speak the truth with love.
00:43:10.040 That's all we can do.
00:43:11.480 From Nigel.
00:43:12.780 Hey Michael
00:43:13.260 I'm a newer listener
00:43:14.080 to your show
00:43:14.680 and I was wondering
00:43:15.200 what are some
00:43:15.660 theological and
00:43:16.300 philosophical literature
00:43:17.580 books that you find
00:43:19.820 inspiring or helped
00:43:20.900 shape your world view.
00:43:23.340 Oh where do I begin man?
00:43:25.180 Where do I begin?
00:43:28.140 Edmund Burke
00:43:28.820 was very important.
00:43:29.980 Reflections on the
00:43:30.660 revolution in France.
00:43:31.480 Michael Oakeshott
00:43:32.240 little essay
00:43:32.960 Rationalism and Politics
00:43:34.320 and On Being Conservative
00:43:35.580 was really good.
00:43:36.520 Roger Scruton
00:43:37.320 is great.
00:43:38.240 He's got a ton
00:43:39.260 of great books.
00:43:39.840 He has a great movie
00:43:40.720 that the BBC
00:43:41.460 is suppressing
00:43:42.140 but you can watch
00:43:42.820 the ripped Portuguese
00:43:43.800 version on either
00:43:44.700 YouTube or Vimeo.
00:43:46.180 It's called
00:43:46.480 Why Beauty Matters
00:43:47.440 or something like that.
00:43:49.060 Owen Barfield
00:43:49.840 wrote Poetic Diction.
00:43:50.860 He was one of the
00:43:51.280 inklings that converted
00:43:52.160 C.S. Lewis to
00:43:52.840 Christianity.
00:43:53.540 That would be
00:43:53.980 that was a great book.
00:43:55.800 Good Old Uncle
00:43:56.360 Aristotle and Plato
00:43:57.500 those are very
00:43:58.480 important writers.
00:43:59.660 Dante
00:44:00.000 maybe more than
00:44:01.140 any writer.
00:44:02.840 Dante
00:44:03.160 all of his writing
00:44:04.460 but especially
00:44:05.060 the Divine Comedy
00:44:05.800 was really shaped
00:44:06.660 my thought.
00:44:07.360 the Bible
00:44:09.820 can't forget
00:44:10.960 about the Bible
00:44:11.460 Thomas Aquinas
00:44:12.220 certainly
00:44:12.780 St. Augustine
00:44:14.920 Chesterton
00:44:18.180 C.S. Lewis
00:44:18.920 I'm just throwing out
00:44:20.880 not random names
00:44:21.940 but I'm throwing out
00:44:22.580 names seemingly
00:44:23.600 haphazardly
00:44:24.360 because I think
00:44:24.800 if you want to
00:44:26.900 begin to form
00:44:28.600 or advance
00:44:29.560 in forming
00:44:30.080 your political
00:44:30.900 or theological
00:44:31.620 thoughts
00:44:33.600 I don't think
00:44:35.440 it's necessarily
00:44:36.320 the best way
00:44:37.340 to go about it
00:44:38.020 to just have
00:44:38.640 a list of books
00:44:39.860 that you have
00:44:40.140 to go down
00:44:40.480 boom boom boom
00:44:41.020 one after another.
00:44:41.980 I think what you
00:44:42.420 might want to do
00:44:43.200 is
00:44:44.040 you're reading
00:44:45.540 C.S. Lewis
00:44:46.020 you pick up
00:44:46.960 Mere Christianity
00:44:47.520 or Abolition of Man
00:44:48.600 or something
00:44:48.980 or whatever
00:44:50.940 from C.S. Lewis
00:44:51.560 and you see that
00:44:52.140 he references
00:44:52.840 G.K. Chesterton
00:44:53.820 you say that's
00:44:54.380 interesting
00:44:54.720 and then you go
00:44:55.160 read G.K. Chesterton
00:44:56.960 for instance
00:44:57.400 right now
00:44:57.740 I just finished
00:44:58.700 reading Drew
00:44:59.300 Clavin's new book
00:45:00.220 his new book
00:45:00.880 is
00:45:01.620 on the romantic poets
00:45:04.300 and how it relates
00:45:04.960 to Christianity
00:45:05.460 it's an excellent
00:45:06.120 excellent book
00:45:06.620 so I'm reading it
00:45:07.560 and he's referring
00:45:09.180 to the romantic poets
00:45:09.960 who I've not read
00:45:11.560 very deeply
00:45:12.380 so then I go
00:45:13.600 and I order
00:45:14.020 some of the books
00:45:14.520 from the romantic poets
00:45:15.360 and then I can go
00:45:15.820 read them
00:45:16.060 so that's what
00:45:16.560 I recommend doing
00:45:17.500 if you want to
00:45:18.040 expand your thought
00:45:19.180 from Sophia
00:45:19.900 Dear Michael
00:45:21.260 I've fallen in love
00:45:22.140 with the most amazing man
00:45:23.460 we haven't been dating long
00:45:24.760 but I know I want to marry him
00:45:26.040 and have all the babies
00:45:26.820 God will bless us with
00:45:27.720 alright calm down lady
00:45:28.680 no maybe that's good
00:45:29.600 that's good
00:45:29.920 it's wonderful
00:45:30.220 to know what you want
00:45:30.880 he's serious
00:45:31.800 and wants a family
00:45:32.540 I want four
00:45:33.080 but he wants six
00:45:33.860 the thing is
00:45:34.920 I'm 33
00:45:35.640 and he's 45
00:45:36.580 so time is not on our side
00:45:38.060 oh yeah
00:45:38.540 six
00:45:39.840 I guess probably won't happen
00:45:41.780 even if he gets started
00:45:43.280 right now
00:45:43.760 but maybe you can get to four
00:45:45.940 depends how
00:45:47.540 depends how quick
00:45:48.400 you churn him
00:45:48.940 his business
00:45:49.900 has suffered tremendously
00:45:50.780 I know he's waiting
00:45:52.380 until things get better
00:45:53.160 financially
00:45:53.560 before moving forward
00:45:54.480 I worry that he may use this
00:45:56.160 as an excuse
00:45:56.680 not to get married
00:45:57.380 and start a family
00:45:58.000 what is your opinion
00:45:58.680 on the long-standing practice
00:46:00.020 of women starting a family
00:46:01.240 without dot dot dot
00:46:02.920 necessarily dot dot dot
00:46:04.260 planning it with the man first
00:46:06.280 dot dot dot
00:46:07.080 oh goodness
00:46:07.660 oh boy
00:46:09.180 I've always been taught
00:46:10.520 that this is trapping
00:46:11.420 which is wrong
00:46:12.320 because it's dishonest
00:46:13.760 I think the risk
00:46:15.360 that he would not step up
00:46:16.440 and marry me
00:46:16.940 if I got pregnant
00:46:17.540 is basically zero
00:46:18.380 but I feel it may be morally wrong
00:46:20.240 even though I want
00:46:21.100 even though I know
00:46:22.980 it is something he wants
00:46:24.020 just not right now
00:46:24.980 yes that is wrong
00:46:26.780 that is wrong
00:46:28.200 it's wrong for a few reasons
00:46:29.780 the reason that
00:46:31.400 that this should not be an issue
00:46:32.760 in the first place
00:46:33.420 is
00:46:33.840 you shouldn't be
00:46:35.740 sleeping together
00:46:36.560 before you are married
00:46:37.580 I know
00:46:38.220 it's a fallen world
00:46:39.280 we all do lots of bad things
00:46:40.640 I'm not
00:46:41.140 I'm not sitting on my high horse here
00:46:43.720 and judging you
00:46:44.480 I'm just saying
00:46:45.080 this is why
00:46:46.460 this shouldn't be a possibility
00:46:47.440 even in the first place
00:46:48.540 and by the way
00:46:49.100 if you guys weren't sleeping together
00:46:50.300 there's probably
00:46:51.360 a pretty good chance
00:46:52.220 he would hurry up along
00:46:53.220 with that
00:46:53.660 with that proposal
00:46:54.520 but
00:46:55.800 as the old
00:46:57.660 age old wisdom goes
00:46:58.780 he is getting the milk
00:46:59.640 for free
00:47:00.060 and so
00:47:00.460 why would he buy the cow
00:47:01.500 especially if he's
00:47:03.380 maybe got some commitment issues
00:47:05.660 or he's delaying
00:47:06.700 his maturity
00:47:07.520 but you should not
00:47:10.300 you shouldn't trap the guy anyway
00:47:11.940 so you're doing this thing
00:47:12.680 you should probably stop doing it
00:47:13.500 but if you're going to keep sleeping together
00:47:14.880 no I don't think you should lie to him
00:47:16.200 about using birth control
00:47:17.500 and then trap him
00:47:18.260 I don't think that
00:47:18.740 I don't think it's great to start a marriage
00:47:20.280 on deceit
00:47:21.360 and coercion
00:47:22.680 okay
00:47:23.380 I don't
00:47:23.700 I don't think that's a good idea
00:47:24.600 I would
00:47:25.520 one I would recommend
00:47:26.580 cutting that out
00:47:29.060 and then
00:47:29.420 there was a natural inducement
00:47:30.900 to get married
00:47:31.580 but then two
00:47:33.080 if you're not going to do that
00:47:35.160 or even if you are
00:47:35.780 I would sit him down
00:47:36.380 and say
00:47:36.620 listen buster
00:47:37.280 you're not getting any younger
00:47:38.360 neither am I
00:47:39.000 we both want kids
00:47:39.740 we want to get married
00:47:40.560 so piss or get off the pot
00:47:41.940 sorry for the blunt language
00:47:44.400 that's actually the letter
00:47:45.420 that's the letter
00:47:46.640 that my grandmother
00:47:47.280 wrote to my grandfather
00:47:48.320 and they were pretty young
00:47:49.840 I think they were 22
00:47:50.540 or something at the time
00:47:51.360 but it's good advice
00:47:53.080 it's good advice
00:47:54.520 and so I will say it again
00:47:55.520 despite the slightly salty language
00:47:57.880 because I think the situation calls for it
00:47:59.720 piss or get off the pot
00:48:01.520 that's what you should tell them to do
00:48:02.600 from Verinder
00:48:03.520 dear Michael
00:48:04.360 as a conservative
00:48:05.120 what are your views
00:48:06.620 on parents smacking their children
00:48:08.300 I'm not totally opposed to it
00:48:10.020 in theory
00:48:10.500 I was spanked
00:48:12.860 maybe a couple of times as a kid
00:48:14.480 I wasn't
00:48:14.800 not a lot
00:48:15.340 it wasn't a habit
00:48:16.340 but
00:48:17.580 so I'm not
00:48:18.180 not totally opposed to it
00:48:19.380 but in practice
00:48:20.460 I don't plan on doing it
00:48:22.240 I hope I don't do it
00:48:23.280 if I do it
00:48:23.980 I think it would be very
00:48:25.300 rare
00:48:27.100 I don't
00:48:28.340 I don't think it's the most effective
00:48:30.140 parenting strategy
00:48:31.100 but not
00:48:32.500 not totally opposed to it either
00:48:33.560 from Kyle
00:48:34.660 hey Mr. Knowles
00:48:36.320 I know people usually write in
00:48:38.020 to complain about their love life
00:48:39.300 or the Israel-Wakanda conflict
00:48:40.600 fair enough
00:48:41.020 but I have a much more contentious
00:48:43.360 and divisive question
00:48:44.240 to ask you
00:48:45.000 what is the best fast food joint
00:48:47.840 in America
00:48:48.420 if you were on a road trip
00:48:50.040 and only wanted to see
00:48:51.000 one fast food restaurant
00:48:52.240 and the
00:48:53.640 at the rest stop
00:48:54.460 what would it be
00:48:55.540 and what would you order
00:48:57.220 sincerely came for Shapiro
00:48:58.420 stayed for Nick in the mailbag
00:48:59.700 well
00:49:00.200 it's really a astute observation
00:49:02.320 that people write in
00:49:03.160 about their love lives
00:49:04.020 and
00:49:04.440 you know
00:49:05.080 anything from their love lives
00:49:06.120 to the Israel-Wakanda conflict
00:49:07.400 because
00:49:07.820 the
00:49:09.100 peace in the Middle East
00:49:10.120 is often
00:49:10.840 probably much easier
00:49:12.300 to settle
00:49:12.840 than some of these questions
00:49:14.260 about people's love lives
00:49:15.100 where would I stop
00:49:16.200 Arby's
00:49:16.640 not even a question
00:49:17.340 we'll do one more question
00:49:18.220 Jessica
00:49:18.600 dear Michael
00:49:19.520 so many millennials
00:49:20.420 and Gen Z
00:49:21.420 constantly talk about
00:49:22.440 not worrying about the future
00:49:23.300 and having faith
00:49:23.800 that things are meant for you
00:49:24.920 that they won't pass you by
00:49:27.200 there rarely is any mention of God
00:49:29.000 but it seems a little bit like faith
00:49:30.220 and I believe
00:49:30.660 there's a similar Bible verse
00:49:31.840 generally people are
00:49:33.520 referring to relationships
00:49:34.780 or opportunities
00:49:35.440 when they mention the things
00:49:36.580 that are meant for you
00:49:37.440 what are your thoughts
00:49:38.280 on the sentiment of
00:49:39.380 the things that are meant for you
00:49:40.600 will find you
00:49:41.180 and if the phrase is true
00:49:42.200 settling in
00:49:43.220 this is a long question
00:49:43.820 settling in any aspect of life
00:49:45.300 out of fear
00:49:45.800 seems like a slap
00:49:46.600 in the face of God
00:49:47.880 and your faith in him
00:49:48.560 sincerely the waiting
00:49:49.220 is the hardest part
00:49:49.940 God is sovereign
00:49:51.120 providence is extremely real
00:49:53.080 and things will unfold
00:49:55.700 according to God's plan
00:49:57.060 and God can't drive
00:49:58.100 a parked car
00:49:58.820 and you have free will
00:50:00.440 and you have a right
00:50:02.140 and an obligation
00:50:03.040 to use your free will
00:50:04.320 for the good
00:50:06.280 and you have an obligation
00:50:08.400 not to be slothful
00:50:09.500 and you got to do stuff buster
00:50:10.960 and use your reason
00:50:11.840 and your moral conscience
00:50:12.560 and your courage

00:51:08.160 this is Andrew Klavan
00:51:09.160 host of The Andrew Klavan Show
00:51:10.580 You know
00:51:11.220 some people are depressed
00:51:12.400 because the republic
00:51:13.220 is collapsing
00:51:13.940 the end of days
00:51:14.900 is approaching
00:51:15.400 and the moon's turned to blood
00:51:17.020 but on The Andrew Klavan Show
00:51:18.740 that's where the fun
