Ep. 96 - Amnesty For 3.6 Million? Keep Dreaming

Summary

Democrat dream of amnesty for millions of illegal aliens is a dream come true, but only for the ones brought to the United States as children by their parents. Democrats want to legalize on the low end 800,000 illegal aliens brought here as children as children, but far more likely upwards of 3.6 million illegal aliens.

00:00:00.000 Amnesty or no amnesty? That is the question. Whether tis nobler in the minds of voters to
00:00:06.580 suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous headlines, or to take arms against a CNN of
00:00:12.140 troubles, and by amnesty end them. Amnesty, amnesty. Amnesty, perchance more dreamers. Ah,
00:00:20.400 there's the rub. For in that lawless pandering, more dreamers may come when we have shuffled
00:00:25.520 off this constitutional order. That must give us pause. Two DACA illegal aliens, so-called
00:00:31.820 dreamers, according to Democrats, have been arrested in separate incidents for human trafficking in my
00:00:37.480 own sunny state of California. One arrest occurred last Wednesday when Torrey Pines Beach resident
00:00:43.980 called the cops for suspected trafficking. Borders agents found the driver, a 20-year-old dreamer,
00:00:49.780 as well as two Mexican nationals, when he was smuggling them in his car. Another 22-year-old
00:00:56.260 illegal alien, also a dreamer by Democrat Lights, was arrested in Campo, California, also for charges
00:01:01.160 related to human trafficking. California dreaming means you won't be safe as long as you're in LA.
00:01:06.420 All of this comes as Democrats in Congress desperately try to ram through a bill to legalize
00:01:11.180 on the low end 800,000 illegal aliens brought to the U.S. as children, but far more likely upwards of
00:01:16.620 3.6 million illegal aliens. We will analyze Democrat dreams of amnesty and electoral dominance point
00:01:23.300 by point, lie by lie. Then, Philip Wegman, Ariel Davidson, and Amber Athey join the panel of
00:01:28.520 deplorables to discuss the State of the Union throughout history, the six Democrat State of
00:01:32.860 the Union rebuttals this year, six, probably more by the time I finish this show, and Democrat
00:01:37.580 sacramental view of late-term abortion. I'm Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:01:46.620 So much to get to today. The trouble with euphemisms is that eventually reality catches
00:01:54.280 up with them, and then you get the Chico Marx line, who you going to believe, me or your
00:01:59.240 own eyes, your own lion eyes. Democrats have labeled a massive group of illegal aliens dreamers,
00:02:05.240 and they're only referring to illegal aliens brought to the United States when they were
00:02:09.120 minors. No fault of their own, they say. Their parents' fault. These are the people
00:02:13.960 unconstitutionally protected by Barack Obama's DACA program. The trouble with DACA is that
00:02:19.000 it only protects a certain group of illegal aliens brought to the U.S. as minors. It only
00:02:23.300 protects those who were born after June 15, 1981, have lived in the U.S. continuously since
00:02:28.440 June 15, 2007, and registered for the program between June 2012 and September 2017. Trouble
00:02:35.760 is, that covers nowhere near all of the illegal aliens brought to the U.S. as children.
00:02:40.500 Steny Hoyer, Democrats' House Minority Whip, even admitted as much when he pointed out that
00:02:46.080 the euphemism dreamer and the technical term DACA recipient are not a distinction without a
00:02:51.780 difference. There is a difference between those two things. Democrats want to pretend there aren't.
00:02:55.640 Two weeks ago, USA Today gave the fuller story. The real number of illegal aliens brought over as
00:03:00.040 children is around 3.6 million, four and a half times as many as Democrats admit in all of their
00:03:05.980 legislative maneuvering. That is an estimated third of all illegal aliens in the U.S., and that
00:03:11.300 doesn't count the millions of immediate family members who are already citizens. That's a convenient
00:03:17.300 omission, since amnesty for the Dreamers would be a dream come true for Democrats. According to Pew
00:03:22.120 Research, Hispanics are five times as likely to identify with the Democrat Party as with the GOP.
00:03:28.820 Even among registered voters, the trend holds. There are well over four times as many Hispanic voters
00:03:34.260 registered with the Democrats as with Republicans. Even for Hispanics who don't identify with either
00:03:39.440 party, they are two and a quarter times more likely to lean toward Democrats. Native-born Hispanics
00:03:45.060 are 4.4 times as likely to identify with Democrats. Foreign-born Hispanics are 5.6 times as likely to
00:03:53.460 identify with Democrats. And that includes Cubans who are Republicans. My favorite group of immigrants,
00:03:58.560 the Cubans, because they bring good cigars and culture and vote for Republicans. That even includes
00:04:02.360 them in that number. Ronald Reagan used to say that Hispanics are Republicans, they just don't
00:04:07.420 know it yet. That's because they work hard and go to church, two traits that are anathema to
00:04:12.060 Democrats. He may have been right. Hispanics born in the U.S. are slightly less likely to identify with
00:04:18.440 Democrats as those who were born outside the U.S. But the data show it's still going to take a long
00:04:23.460 time for Hispanic voters to realize that they're Republicans. And if we're going to give amnesty to 3.6
00:04:29.980 million new likely Democrat voters, there may not be a Republican party around by the time they do
00:04:34.860 realize it. There are some interesting data among how party affiliation changes over time. So foreign-born
00:04:41.500 Hispanics who've been here less than 10 years are just under three times as likely to identify
00:04:46.820 Democrat. Probably because they got here during Barack Obama's terrible administration and they
00:04:51.860 realized his party has nothing to offer to the country other than division and envy. That number
00:04:56.960 though jumps way up to 8.75 times as many Hispanics who've lived in the U.S. for 10 to 14 years
00:05:04.620 identifying as Democrat. 8.75 times as likely. That number holds around 8.2 times as many Hispanics
00:05:13.300 who've lived here 15 to 19 years identifying as Democrat. Then it drops back down a little bit to
00:05:18.660 a still terrifying 5.4 times as many Hispanics who've lived in the U.S. for 20 years or more identifying
00:05:24.500 as Democrats as those who identify as Republicans. Well over five times as many identifying as
00:05:30.000 Democrats. Any way you slice it, amnesty means electoral death for Republicans. Democrats even
00:05:36.560 admit as much. That's why they want it so bad. Earlier this month, a memo leaked from the Center
00:05:40.680 for American Progress Action Fund explaining that amnesty for illegal aliens constitutes, quote,
00:05:46.320 a critical component of the Democratic Party's future electoral success. That memo was co-authored by
00:05:51.720 former Hillary Clinton communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, and it was sent around to
00:05:56.300 allies calling on Democrats to, quote, refuse to offer any votes for Republican spending bills
00:06:01.960 that do not offer a fix for dreamers and instead appropriate funds to deport them. Barack Obama's
00:06:08.420 former domestic policy director, Cecilia Munoz, insists, quote, the right policies to be as generous as
00:06:15.640 possible. We know the success of DACA. It's good for the country and this has overwhelming support
00:06:22.060 from around the country, from people on both sides of the aisle. There's no reason to limit who is
00:06:28.140 eligible. Typically for an Obama policy advisor, absolutely nothing she said is true. According to
00:06:33.520 a late 2017 poll by Morning Consultant Politico, Politico, it's a fake news organization and I just
00:06:39.980 pronounced their name wrong, so that's fake news of fake news. But according to Morning Consultant
00:06:44.340 Politico, Politico leans left, by the way, but even according to them, just 29% of Americans say
00:06:50.600 giving illegal aliens brought to the U.S. under the age of 18, giving them amnesty should be a policy
00:06:56.760 priority. Just 29%, 71% of Americans do not want amnesty. Incredibly, just 44% of Democrat voters
00:07:06.460 say amnesty for DACA recipients should be a priority for Congress to say nothing about the 2.8 million
00:07:12.360 additional illegal aliens who would receive amnesty through any real DACA deal, any real deal that's
00:07:17.800 on the table. That means that even the majority of Democrats oppose amnesty even for the Dreamers
00:07:24.780 and the DACA and the people brought here as children. In recent years, the U.S. foreign-born
00:07:29.360 population has also reached record highs, hitting 43.2 million in 2015. So anybody who tells you,
00:07:36.460 we don't let immigrants in, we're not letting any immigrants in, we have a terrible policy on
00:07:40.040 immigration. That isn't true. We are at record highs. That number has steadily climbed since 1965
00:07:45.720 when famed drunk driver Ted Kennedy sponsored legislation replacing the national quota system
00:07:51.320 with our currently incoherent immigration regime. Since that time, the number of immigrants living
00:07:57.200 in the United States has more than quadrupled. Since that Kennedy law, Ted Kennedy, one of the worst
00:08:03.320 politicians in American history, since his law, the number of immigrants living in the U.S. has more
00:08:08.060 than quadrupled. Immigrants today account for 13.4% of the total U.S. population, triple the immigrant
00:08:14.780 share of the U.S. population that we had in 1970. The only time the foreign-born percentage of the
00:08:19.980 population was this high was in 1890, after a half-century period that gave us four and a half
00:08:26.180 million Irish immigrants, including many wonderful families, including my wonderful family and also the
00:08:31.340 Kennedys. Lest our opposition to amnesty be considered excessively partisan, remember that amnesty is a
00:08:37.960 terrible idea on constitutional and humanitarian grounds as well. Barack Obama's executive amnesty,
00:08:43.400 which kicked off this entire debate about the Dreamers, is unconstitutional. Any way you slice
00:08:49.000 it, it's unconstitutional. The president does not have the authority to subvert democratically enacted
00:08:54.120 immigration law. He doesn't have the authority to erase the national borders of the United States.
00:08:58.780 And obviously, it goes without saying, he does not have the right to illegally fill the country with
00:09:04.620 people who are exceedingly likely to vote for his own party. Now, as a matter of federal spending
00:09:09.920 and taxpayer resources, we're told immigrants are great for the country. They might be great for the
00:09:15.280 country, but on those grounds, not so. Immigrant-led households are far more likely than native-led
00:09:20.920 households to receive welfare. According to a study by the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates
00:09:25.940 lower levels of immigration to the U.S., the majority of immigrant-led households receive at least one kind of
00:09:31.800 welfare benefit, which could include any number of them because we have way too many federal welfare
00:09:37.940 programs. But it could include Medicaid, food stamps, housing assistance, school lunches, on and on and on.
00:09:43.680 That number drops to just 30% for households led by native-born Americans. The numbers increase for
00:09:49.200 houses with children, but the comparison still holds. 76% of immigrant-led households with children
00:09:54.700 receive welfare compared with 52% of native-led households with children. So you might say those
00:10:02.880 numbers are far too high all around. Of course, that's a good argument for shrinking the government.
00:10:06.780 Fortunately, the Trump administration is doing just that, but the trend still holds. Anybody who tells
00:10:11.140 you otherwise, not telling the truth. How about on crime? We're told that illegal aliens don't commit a lot
00:10:16.860 of crime. Those numbers are not true. According to a study from the Crime Prevention Research Center
00:10:23.440 by John R. Lott, just in Arizona alone, illegal aliens are 142% more likely to be convicted of a
00:10:31.080 crime than other Arizonans. Of course, the act of crossing into a country illegally itself is a very
00:10:37.300 serious crime that profoundly disrespects the target country. But even putting that one aside,
00:10:41.800 illegal aliens also tend to commit more serious crimes here. They serve 10.5% longer sentences.
00:10:48.400 They're more likely to be classified as dangerous. They are 45% more likely to be gang members than
00:10:53.660 U.S. citizens. Even adjusting for the fact that young people commit crime at higher rates,
00:10:58.620 because that's what we're told. We're told, well, most of these people are young. Young people commit
00:11:01.560 crime at higher rates. That's how you explain those statistics. But even controlling for that,
00:11:06.460 young illegal aliens commit crime at twice the rate of young U.S. citizens.
00:11:10.660 Lott also notes that these numbers likely underestimate the share of crime committed
00:11:15.260 by illegal aliens. The federal government notoriously is very opaque on releasing illegal
00:11:20.200 alien crime numbers. But according to the GAO, there was a 40% and 25% increase, respectively,
00:11:27.100 in criminal alien incarcerations in state jails and prisons between 2003 and 2009.
00:11:32.920 Perhaps the most damning statistic of all actually comes from the other side. It comes from left-wing
00:11:38.920 outlets, Fusion and the Huffington Post. According to a Fusion investigation, 80% of women and girls
00:11:45.340 crossing into the U.S. by way of Mexico are raped during the journey. 80%. Four out of five women
00:11:52.520 and girls who cross via Mexico illegally into the U.S. are raped on their journey. That is up from a
00:11:59.180 previous estimate of 60% given by Amnesty International. But Democrats don't care about that.
00:12:04.060 They don't care about any of that. They care about one thing, and that's winning elections.
00:12:08.600 And ironically, so egregiously, they demagogue us and they call people who are conservative,
00:12:14.280 bigots and racists and meanies and whatever they call us, for pointing out what is clearly in front
00:12:20.420 of our face. A Democrat Senate Majority Leader, Senate Minority Leader, thank goodness,
00:12:25.120 Chuck Schumer, typifies Democrats' take on this issue.
00:12:27.960 People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens, and illegal aliens
00:12:33.460 should not be treated the same as people who entered the U.S. legally.
00:12:37.400 The president's decision to end DACA was heartless, and it was brainless.
00:12:43.400 When we use phrases like undocumented workers, we convey a message to the American people that
00:12:49.920 their government is not serious about combating illegal immigration.
00:12:54.000 Hundreds, hundreds of thousands of families will be ripped apart.
00:12:57.420 Now, I know you might have been confused because you heard Chuck Schumer, the same guy,
00:13:00.960 speaking on both of those times. But that was old Chuck Schumer when it was politically
00:13:05.620 advantageous to him to pretend that he didn't want to give amnesty to all of the illegal aliens.
00:13:10.060 And then now he can be honest about his opinion and say, yes, we need to give amnesty because
00:13:14.260 then we'll win all of the elections. Quite the turnaround. But then the possibility of finally wiping
00:13:18.880 out the GOP entirely is a strong incentive to evolve on the issue. Country be damned.
00:13:24.320 Let's get to our panel to see what they think about this. We have Philip Wegman. We have Ariel
00:13:29.260 Davidson. We have Amber Athey. But look, I know you want to talk to all of these people. They're
00:13:33.940 going to give excellent analysis of this issue. But first, we can't talk about that because we need
00:13:39.520 to talk about sleep. Now, you know, I love to sleep. I need at least 18 hours a day just to maintain
00:13:46.300 my beauty rest. I had to go the other night. Yesterday, I was on Fox News at 2.15 in the
00:13:52.520 morning or something like that. I couldn't get my requisite sleep. And I was dead. I was destroyed.
00:13:58.400 I couldn't. Sleep is very important. Most people spend a third of their life sleeping. I spend at
00:14:02.380 least two thirds. And I've moved around a lot. I've moved from New York, Connecticut, California.
00:14:09.300 I've hopped all around the country. Buying a mattress is just awful. It is just a terrible
00:14:14.420 experience. I've done it multiple times. Helix Sleep. Helix Sleep makes it so much better.
00:14:19.280 There are a ton of online mattress retailers popping up these days. And they all have a
00:14:23.080 one-size-fits-all solution to a better sleep. Now, look, online is better than going into those
00:14:27.640 stores. If you go into those stores, you can never compare prices. They always have different
00:14:31.740 names on. They're going to pounce on you. It's really very hard to tell. But for the online
00:14:37.120 mattresses, they just want to sell you the one product that they make. But one size does not
00:14:42.240 always work. As I frequently point out, people, usually spouses, have different preferences
00:14:47.980 for their beds. Some people, you know, for instance, I like a firmer mattress. And sweet
00:14:52.940 little Elisa likes a mattress that I am not on. So couples have different decisions. A Helix
00:14:57.580 Sleep offers something that doesn't exist anywhere else, a mattress personalized to your unique
00:15:01.440 preferences and sleeping style that will not set you back thousands of dollars. So if you
00:15:05.740 go to helixsleep.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S, that's right, just like the last name of JC's
00:15:11.700 wife, Knowles, take their simple two to three minute sleep quiz. They will build you a custom
00:15:16.480 mattress that will be the best thing that you have ever slept on. I will not do anything
00:15:21.480 in this world that takes more than three minutes. I just don't want to. I'm a millennial
00:15:25.120 man. I got stuff to do and I have no attention span. Go there. They'll do it very, very quickly
00:15:29.460 for you. For couples, they will personalize each side of the mattress. If men, you are like
00:15:34.920 me and you prefer a firmer mattress and your wife prefers a mattress that you are not on,
00:15:38.860 they probably could even figure that out. Everyone from GQ to Cosmo to the New York
00:15:43.340 Times are all talking about Helix. Once you try it out, you will know why. Your custom
00:15:47.720 mattress arrives direct to your door in a week. Shipping it is completely free and you can
00:15:52.720 try it for 100 nights risk-free. There's no risk at all. No reason not to do it. If you
00:15:57.100 don't love it, they will pick it up and refund you. So what should you do? You should go to
00:16:00.540 helixsleep.com slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S. Right now, you will get $50 toward your custom
00:16:07.620 mattress. That is my gift to you. $50. Don't say I never did anything for you. Helixsleep.com
00:16:13.460 slash Knowles, K-N-O-W-L-E-S. For $50 off your order, helixsleep.com slash Knowles. Okay,
00:16:20.540 let's bring everybody on. Phillip and Amber and Ariel, friends, countrymen, thank you for
00:16:24.520 being here. Phillip, the American people are against amnesty, but recent numbers show that even
00:16:29.960 Democrats are now against amnesty, even for illegal aliens brought here under the age of
00:16:34.580 18. This was very shocking for me to read those numbers. Why has this shift occurred?
00:16:40.320 Well, I think that there is a general support for finding a solution to the dreamer situation
00:16:46.120 on both the left and the right side of the aisle. Since 2000, for crying out loud, Republicans
00:16:50.840 and Democrats have said that they're going to do something about this. Now, President Trump
00:16:54.660 has actually put forward a deal. He's asking for about $25 billion for border security,
00:16:59.800 five more than what Chuck Schumer offered immediately before the shutdown.
00:17:03.600 And he's offering amnesty for about 1.8 million dreamers. So the question now is,
00:17:09.760 you've got a president who campaigned on one single issue, which was border security. Are Democrats
00:17:16.160 going to take him up on this offer? Because frankly, he's already getting pressure from his flank,
00:17:21.620 from conservatives on this one. So I don't think Democrats will ever get a better deal than this.
00:17:26.040 It is an incredible deal. And you're right. People, they always want a solution. We just
00:17:30.520 want to do something. We want to fix it. But we also know when you dig down into those numbers,
00:17:36.020 even the majority of Democrats don't support amnesty as a priority.
00:17:40.760 Right.
00:17:40.880 So is there any, has there been a shift in public opinion that doesn't match the shift in the
00:17:47.320 political negotiations that's going on? Well, as far as public opinion goes, I mean,
00:17:51.820 it's pretty clear that this was the motivating issue for President Trump on the campaign trail.
00:17:56.880 And you were talking a second ago about amnesty and how there's some negative opinions surrounding
00:18:01.060 that policy. I think the reason why Republicans are willing to move forward with amnesty for this 1.8
00:18:07.700 million dreamers is because they want an end to chain migration and also the visa lottery program
00:18:12.760 as a result. They're thinking we can have this compromise if in the long term we can stop the flow.
00:18:19.180 And so they've, they've put Democrats in a really difficult position. President Trump has got to
00:18:23.020 deliver that message tonight.
00:18:24.440 If they could end chain migration and build the wall and actually limit this even to 1.8 million,
00:18:30.120 it's a, it's looking through the future. It's possibly, okay, their GOP could possibly weather that storm.
00:18:34.920 But if it gets up to 3.6 million or something, if like in the 80s, they don't actually follow through
00:18:39.780 our own border security. Could be dicey. Ariel, is the solution here just to not give them amnesty?
00:18:45.420 Just not, not deport them. Not that we have to deport millions of people, but just not give them
00:18:50.440 amnesty. Why can't we just do that? Well, I think you, I think what's going to happen is it's going
00:18:55.260 to continue to be a political football. So if we don't address it, you know, at least when we have
00:18:59.920 a Republican in office, which is our best possible scenario. So I look at this situation as sort of,
00:19:04.680 you know, let's capitalize on the fact that we have a Republican in office, because I guarantee
00:19:09.680 if we have, we do have a Democrat in office and they are the ones who address the dreamer situation,
00:19:13.900 it could be entirely different. Um, I think there's also a level of cognitive dissonance
00:19:19.560 taking place in the democratic party. You have this sort of, you know, that they called. So when,
00:19:24.080 when this DACA deal was offered, you know, that there were still cries that this deal was racist.
00:19:29.260 Um, and then you have, you know, this is, this falls a long line of the Democrats sort of just
00:19:34.540 poo-pooing anything that comes out of, um, anything that comes out of the GOP brainchild. So,
00:19:39.440 you know, the tax reform was, even though people are getting thousand dollar bonuses,
00:19:43.480 you still had people on the left calling it crumbs. Um, you know, the 20, 20 week abortion ban,
00:19:48.580 which a majority of Americans would have supported. You had, um, people on the left,
00:19:54.080 especially politicians on the left calling it radical. So there's definitely some ways in which
00:19:58.200 when you just asked Phil earlier about how, you know, how is the Overton window shifted?
00:20:02.140 I do think there's some level of, there's a dissonance between how far left the progressive
00:20:07.060 element, how far left the progressive element of the democratic party has gone and how far left
00:20:12.420 the actual American population is. And I think we're going to start to see that increase, um,
00:20:17.160 especially on deals when it comes to DACA. I mean, you had various senators grandstanding on it
00:20:21.880 saying, this is my number one priority. How can your number one priority be illegal citizens
00:20:27.180 and not the citizens you serve? So to me, that is completely reprehensible. And that's,
00:20:32.660 that's pointing to a larger issue than the democratic party as a whole.
00:20:36.100 Absolutely right. It's an amazing thing to go to your constituents and say, the main thing that I'm
00:20:40.480 concerned about is everybody, but you, everybody, but you ranks higher on my list of priorities
00:20:46.460 than you do. Amber, nobody wants to deport people. That is an unpleasant business. It's kind of icky.
00:20:52.220 It doesn't look good in the headlines, but this is our country we're talking about. This is our
00:20:56.140 right to self-governance. And this is 3.6 million people. Is the responsible thing here to enforce
00:21:02.780 our laws and just deport them? Like president Trump said at various points on the campaign trail.
00:21:08.300 Well, look, the right or responsible thing to do isn't always popular. I mean, my number one choice
00:21:14.060 wouldn't be to just deport millions of people. Um, not only is it not, um, entirely feasible, but
00:21:20.700 it's obviously not the nice thing to do. But when we're talking about border security and illegal
00:21:26.460 immigration, we have to consider the consequences of our actions and the consequences of not enforcing
00:21:31.240 our immigration laws. And a huge side effect of DACA was that in 2012, we had a humanitarian crisis on
00:21:37.440 the border where a bunch of young unaccompanied minors were crossing, being left at the border,
00:21:43.440 crossing the border on their own in incredibly dangerous situations, sometimes being sold into human
00:21:49.080 trafficking, drug trafficking rings or joining gangs. So we have to consider what exactly the side
00:21:55.440 effects are when we grant amnesty to people who decided to cross the border in dangerous conditions
00:22:00.760 and illegally. And so that's one of the things that I think president Trump should consider when
00:22:05.240 he's making a deal with the Democrats. That's right. It's funny because there are so many hysterical
00:22:11.480 news cycles. They seem to come every 24 hours that we forget this major event that happened just a few
00:22:16.760 years ago. Absolutely right. Now we have much more news to talk about. We have a lot, but I know what
00:22:22.340 you're thinking right now. You're not thinking about DACA. You're not thinking about the Dreamers.
00:22:25.380 You're thinking about my shave, my great shave that I get. Did you know how I get that great shave? I
00:22:30.700 get it from Dollar Shave Club. These guys are so good. You've heard me talk about them frequently.
00:22:36.060 It is the best razor I've ever owned. And I usually buy nice razors. I don't always cheap out on the
00:22:40.900 little guys. I used to just do those little throwaways. Then I started, I started to spend more money
00:22:45.480 and all the refills and all that. You have to go to the pharmacy. I'm not going to do any of that
00:22:49.640 anymore. I'm only going to do Dollar Shave Club. It is lovely. So they, very frequently, I don't even
00:22:55.020 use shave cream, but Dr. Carver's Shave Butter is just excellent. It feels really nice. It gives you
00:23:00.360 a close shave. It's not quite a cream. It's not quite a gel. No, no self-respecting man is going to
00:23:05.160 use a gel. It's the Shave Butter. Really good. I'm not going to give up my membership. Dollar Shave Club
00:23:10.600 makes products for your hair, face, skin, shower, everything you need. They use only the finest
00:23:16.560 premium ingredients and they deliver it directly to you. This is the key. I would go for months,
00:23:21.540 if not years at a time, I'm not kidding, using the same razors because I didn't want to go out
00:23:26.060 and buy any more at, you know, the drugstore or something. This, they send it right to you for a
00:23:30.300 very, very low cost. You don't have to think about it. It just comes right to your door. That means no
00:23:34.800 more annoying trips to the store, cruising up and down the aisles. Occasionally you go down that aisle
00:23:38.560 that men aren't supposed to go down and you feel very awkward and you look around like people are
00:23:41.660 looking at you. You don't, don't do any of that. Use Dollar Shave Club for all of this. Razors,
00:23:46.580 body cleanser, hair gel, and look, a lot, we're talking about immigration. A lot of people in the
00:23:52.540 U.S. are from European descended families. In Europe, they use things like the bidet. They're very,
00:23:59.560 they're much more cleanly in many ways than we are here. If you don't want to install a bidet in your
00:24:04.840 house, but you still want that ever fresh, clean feeling, you can use a product to make sure that
00:24:10.420 you cleanse your own derriere. That comes from Dollar Shave Club. It's so, it's so embarrassing
00:24:15.200 to talk about these things, but they're great products. They have you covered head to toe.
00:24:20.040 So now is a great time to give Dollar Shave Club a try. You can get your first month of their best
00:24:25.160 razor, their top of the line razor, along with travel size versions of the shave butter,
00:24:28.820 body cleanser, and that derriere transformation equipment, that low cost bidet for just $5.
00:24:37.100 That is basically free. You have to go and get it right now. It's really good. It's the best,
00:24:41.380 best razor I've ever used. All the other products are great too. After that replacement cartridge is
00:24:45.340 shipped for just a few bucks a month. It is the DSC starter kit. Get yours for just $5 exclusively at
00:24:52.220 dollarshaveclub.com slash covfefe. C-O-V-F-E-F-E. That is a very important word in these political
00:24:59.040 times. C-O-V-F-E-F-E. Dollarshaveclub.com slash covfefe. Marshall, what is it?
00:25:04.820 dollarshaveclub.com slash covfefe.
00:25:06.480 Slash covfefe. Go do it. Okay. And I got, oh my, you monster Marshall. How could you cue this up?
00:25:12.380 We're just about to get to the sacramental view of abortion that Democrats are taking and all of our
00:25:18.020 thoughts on the state of the union and the 500 million Democrat responses that they're going to
00:25:22.060 have tonight. That's the exact number, but I'm sorry. If you're on Facebook and YouTube,
00:25:26.140 you cannot watch it. You've got to go over to dailywire.com. If you're already there,
00:25:31.280 thank you very much. You keep the lights on. You keep covfefe in my cup. You keep Dr. Carver
00:25:35.960 shave butter on my face. If you haven't done that already, you go over there right now. It's $10 a
00:25:40.040 month and $100 for an annual membership. You get me, you get the Andrew Klavan show, you get the Ben
00:25:44.200 Shapiro show, you get the conversation, you get to ask questions during the conversation. Many can watch,
00:25:48.940 few can ask questions. Many are called, few are chosen. I think I'm up next for the conversation.
00:25:53.800 So go do it. Tonight, we're going to be doing the state of the union. We're going to be hosting. It'll
00:25:58.140 be me, Ben, Drew, the Daily Wire God King, Jeremy Boring. We're going to have some special guests that
00:26:03.780 we haven't announced yet. We're going to be smoking stogies and drinking too much and having a great
00:26:08.920 time looking at President Covfefe and making fun of all the Democrats. So be sure to tune in for that.
00:26:14.760 That's 5 to 9 p.m. on the West Coast. And that is 8 to midnight, I guess, on the East Coast. And it'll
00:26:22.540 be a lot of fun and probably going to imbibe too much and it'll get a little rowdy. So go over there
00:26:27.820 right now. But none of that matters. What really matters is this, the Leftist Tears Tumblr. You're
00:26:32.740 going to need it tonight. There are going to be six Democrat responses to the state of the union
00:26:36.440 that we're about to talk about. It's going to be coming out of the walls. It's going to be coming
00:26:40.840 out of the woodwork. Make sure you protect yourself and your family with the Leftist Tears
00:26:44.340 Tumblr. The only government approved, FDA approved vessel to store those radioactive Leftist Tears.
00:26:51.560 Hot or cold, always salty and delicious. Go to dailywire.com. We'll be right back.
00:26:54.640 All right, panel. In other news, Democrats are thrilled that they have successfully blocked
00:27:09.280 a law preventing late-term abortion on babies who can feel pain. Good job, Democrats. You should
00:27:14.940 feel really proud of yourself, huh? Upon blocking this bill and sending untold scores of late-term
00:27:20.040 pain-capable babies to certain death, Chuck Schumer high-fived fellow Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.
00:27:25.680 Philip, according to a Marist poll from late 2017, the majority of American women support
00:27:31.040 outlawing abortion in 99% of cases. Now, this doesn't have to do with how they identify pro-life
00:27:36.560 or pro-choice kind of malleable euphemisms. When you get down to the brass tacks and the bones
00:27:41.580 of abortion, the majority of women oppose virtually all abortions. Why are Democrat lawmakers so
00:27:47.020 insistent on keeping late-term abortion legal? Well, because Democrats simply don't care about
00:27:53.000 popular opinion when it comes to abortion. Their abortion orthodoxy is unbending, and they are going
00:27:58.280 to make certain that the United States stays in the company of other nations which allow third
00:28:02.260 trimester abortions, nations like North Korea and China. And this is really unfortunate because
00:28:07.860 they often do this to their own political detriment. I mean, DNC chairman Tom Perez found this out
00:28:14.300 earlier in the summer. He was going across the country trying to do this soul-searching tour to
00:28:19.300 get back in touch with, you know, real America. And he stops- I think he's still looking, by the way.
00:28:24.080 I think that soul-searching tour didn't turn up too much. Yeah, so, but he stops in Nebraska,
00:28:30.200 right? And he runs across this guy named Heath Mello, who is a pro-life Democrat who's running for
00:28:35.980 mayor of Omaha, because in order to be the mayor of Omaha, you have to be pro-life. He endorses him,
00:28:42.900 and then 24 hours later, he's brought to his knees by Democratic donors who say that this is
00:28:48.400 completely reprehensible. You have to be pro-choice to be Democrat. And even when it's to their own
00:28:53.180 detriment, they insist on following up with this. But I think that the pro-life Democrat is actually
00:29:00.020 going to make a comeback. And I think we saw this the other day with the Payne Capable Act.
00:29:04.120 You had Democrats like Joe Manchin of Indiana actually vote for the legislation because they
00:29:11.040 know, well, they're from states that are deep red and that Trump won. And if they're going to make a
00:29:16.660 pitch to religious or evangelical voters come November, you know, they need to be able to say
00:29:21.200 that they're somewhat pro-life. So I think the pro-life Democrat might be coming back.
00:29:25.580 Now, there's a very good shot. Joe Manchin, you said to Indiana, I think you went West Virginia.
00:29:32.920 Oh, Joe Donnelly. Joe Donnelly.
00:29:34.500 Joe Donnelly. But Manchin, I see how you get them confused because Joe Manchin is another one who's
00:29:39.680 this, he's the last blue dog left in the country. And you wonder, are these guys going to go
00:29:44.680 completely extinct? Or in order to win elections, are Democrats going to have to come back and
00:29:50.500 contravene their fanatical orthodoxy a little bit? Ariel, will Democrat lawmakers have to answer
00:29:56.560 for this come election time? Or will this not matter with their constituencies? Heitkamp is from
00:30:01.720 North Dakota, which tilts in favor of abortion. You know, will there be any consequences for them?
00:30:08.160 Or as Philip predicts, will there be a return of the pro-life Democrat? Or are they going the way to
00:30:13.500 the dodo? Well, I think there will be consequences for individuals like, for instance, Doug Jones.
00:30:19.880 So he was just as bad as we thought he was going to be. And he voted in favor of not passing this
00:30:26.500 ban. And so when he won the special election in Alabama, you know, there were lots of people on
00:30:33.160 the right and the left who said, you know what, don't be hysterical about Doug Jones. He's not as
00:30:37.320 bad as we think he is when it comes to abortion. He is just as bad as we thought he was going to be.
00:30:41.700 Not to mention you have individuals like Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, both Republicans
00:30:46.340 from Alaska and Maine, respectively, who both voted against the ban as well. And they've been a
00:30:52.280 perpetual headache for the GOP in general. So that really didn't shock me, everything from Obamacare
00:30:57.080 and whatnot. They've been a tremendous headache when it comes to voting. But in general, I think we're
00:31:03.020 going to see repercussions of this. Perhaps for individuals like Doug Jones, who are sort of a
00:31:07.220 smaller revival potentially of the Southern Democrat, he will have to answer for it because
00:31:12.380 I don't think that was in line with at all what his constituents would have wanted in Alabama in
00:31:16.880 particular. It happens to be, you know, a very pro-life heavy state. And I would, I applaud voters
00:31:24.420 who respond to that, to those type of votes and say, you know what, we don't want those type elected
00:31:28.800 officials making that type of decision. So, you know, I don't know. I'm cautious to say that there's
00:31:33.600 going to be a revival of the Southern Democrat. But I just don't see it as being as much of a
00:31:39.360 priority for the left as it is for the right. And Doug Jones is a good example because he only won
00:31:45.620 that election because of the gross incompetence of Republicans in that state, national Republicans
00:31:52.720 and guys like Luther Strange who didn't find these sordid stories about Roy Moore and try to push them
00:32:01.020 and Roy Moore who couldn't fight those stories. And obviously Steve Bannon, you know, was pilloried
00:32:06.320 for losing Alabama for Republicans. But as a result now of that, Doug Jones is going to have to answer
00:32:12.400 because Alabama hasn't, hasn't completely flipped overnight. The State of the Union is tonight,
00:32:17.060 everybody. What began as a sober affair during which the president would present remarks to Congress
00:32:23.160 has now turned into a televised circus. Warren Harding was the first president to broadcast the
00:32:28.460 address on the radio. Truman was the first to be televised. Reagan began the practice of inviting
00:32:33.040 special guests, military, law enforcement, that sort of thing. It worked so phenomenally well,
00:32:38.100 everybody has copied him since, as is true of most of the Reagan administration. Barack Obama famously
00:32:43.520 used to address, use the address rather, to criticize the Supreme Court. While the Supreme Court could not
00:32:48.920 do anything in response, they had to sit there like puppets other than the great hero, Sam Alito,
00:32:53.740 who just shook his head and said no. Antonin Scalia famously boycotted the State of the Union
00:32:59.180 because it is a frivolous parade. Amber, is it time to end this circus or is it good for the
00:33:04.720 American people to see these remarks regardless of how silly they appear? I think circus is exactly
00:33:11.100 the right word. And you know, I've already heard so many liberal media pundits complaining that the
00:33:18.020 State of the Union is going to be boring because President Trump is going to read a scripted speech.
00:33:23.180 And I think it's really funny to finally have them admit that the way that Trump speaks from the
00:33:28.580 heart and the way that he usually addresses his constituents is actually really not only
00:33:34.340 entertaining, but just really gripping. So that's been interesting to see on Twitter and on TV and
00:33:41.180 the like. Now, the Democratic response, I think, is going to be the really interesting part of the
00:33:46.480 State of the Union tonight because they have none other than a Kennedy delivering the response to
00:33:53.200 Trump's State of the Union, proving that they learned absolutely nothing from the 2016 election
00:33:58.040 because they've chosen yet another establishment, you know, ancestral Democrat.
00:34:05.780 What's really amazing about this, too, what's amazing is that these responses to the State
00:34:11.180 of the Union have never gone well. For either party, they call it the curse of the State of
00:34:16.260 the Union response. And so who do they pick to break a curse? They pick a Kennedy. Because
00:34:21.000 nobody knows how to break curses quite like Kennedy's, isn't that right? Philip, politics is a major
00:34:25.960 form of American entertainment. We elected the pioneer of reality TV to become the president himself.
00:34:30.780 Does this obsession with politics as entertainment show that we've decayed as a culture, as C.S. Lewis
00:34:37.720 might describe? Or is it good that Americans are so, we're so plugged into our political process,
00:34:42.180 I'm sure the ratings are going to be through the roof. Well, you know, politics is definitely
00:34:46.420 downstream from culture, and that's how President Trump floated into the Oval Office. He's fun to
00:34:51.260 watch. I mean, if you go to a Trump rally, it's a rock concert because everyone is excited about what
00:34:56.360 he's going to say, and everyone is kind of waiting for him to say something crazy. That's the way it is.
00:35:00.780 Tonight, you know, I think there is a little bit of frustration that he's going to be on script.
00:35:05.980 But last year during the joint address, he got rave reviews. He was incredibly presidential,
00:35:10.820 especially when he was talking to the widow of that Navy SEAL. And I think that we'll probably
00:35:16.180 see something similar. He's going to be plugging his past achievements and pitching
00:35:20.640 reform on immigration. And I think he's got an opportunity to show that he's kind of the adult
00:35:27.220 in the room when it comes to, you know, making these deals, because Democrats have just shut
00:35:33.440 down the government. You know, quickly to bounce off what the last guest said, yeah, Democrats
00:35:37.760 definitely have multiple personality disorders. And choosing Joe D. Kennedy III is just amazing.
00:35:45.880 I mean, what screams more American than an Ivy League, blue-blooded, trust fund baby?
00:35:52.360 Just rich Uncle Penny bags the eighth. That's going to be the next State of the Union response.
00:35:58.000 How could it not?
00:35:59.160 Ariel, we've got to go. We have run out of time. But do you have any final thoughts
00:36:03.480 on this ridiculous circus tonight?
00:36:06.780 Well, Jay Koss from the Weekly Standard had a good quote. He said,
00:36:09.760 the State of the Union is much too kingly for a republic. And I kind of, I err on that side
00:36:14.960 when it comes to the State of the Union address. I think at one point, you know, it served purpose
00:36:18.500 for updating Congress. And now it has become sort of a self-aggrandizing event on behalf
00:36:23.740 of the president.
00:36:24.220 That's sort of, it's like Burger Kingly. It isn't, there's nothing actually regal about
00:36:28.100 it. It's so, I see the point. We are worshiping at the altar of the presidency in many ways
00:36:34.220 when we watch it. But my problem isn't that the affair is too monarchist or something.
00:36:39.900 My affair, my problem with it is it's so crass and vulgar. It's like, it sends shivers
00:36:44.140 up my spine.
00:36:46.460 Well, yeah, I would have to agree with you on that, on that front. But I think that at
00:36:50.840 this point, you know, it is entertainment. I side with Phil at this point, like, you know,
00:36:54.740 bring it on. I'll pour a glass of wine. I'll sit and watch it and I'll be happy to do so.
00:36:58.680 In for a penny, in for a pound. So goes the republic. C'est la vie. Okay, panel, thank you
00:37:04.200 all for being here. We have Philip Wegman. We have Ariel Davidson. We have Amber Athey.
00:37:08.480 That's it. That's our entire show. Be sure to tune in. We're going to be broadcasting within
00:37:11.980 just a matter of hours. I'll probably start drinking about now. We're going to have,
00:37:15.620 it'll be me. It'll be Ben. It'll be Drew. It'll be Daily Wire God King Jeremy Boring.
00:37:20.100 The special, can I tell them? I can't tell. I can't tell you who the special guests are,
00:37:23.460 but it's going to be a lot of fun. So make sure you tune in. That's going to be starting
00:37:26.660 just a few hours, 8 p.m. Eastern time. Do not miss it. It'll be on our Facebook,
00:37:31.480 on our YouTube, on Daily Wire. Make sure to check it out there until tomorrow, folks,
