A year ago today, Harry's Razors dropped their ads on The Daily Wire because, well, because we disagreed with them on a political issue. They said their views were "indefensible," and then they publicly attacked us.

00:00:35.700 Good Ranchers, American meat delivered.
00:00:37.660 Hey, it's Jeremy Boren, co-CEO and God King of The Daily Wire.
00:00:40.880 Do you remember one year ago today when Harry's Razors dropped their ads on The Daily Wire because, 0.97
00:00:45.280 well, because we had the audacity to disagree with them on a political issue?
00:00:48.860 Of course you don't.
00:00:50.100 Why would you?
00:00:50.920 Well, corporations cancel their advertisements on conservative shows and platforms all the time.
00:00:55.040 It's hardly even news at this point.
00:00:56.980 Just the cost of doing business.
00:00:59.360 See, corporate America wants it both ways.
00:01:01.620 They want conservatives to buy their goods and services, but they also want to virtue signal
00:01:05.780 to the woke mob and their 23-year-old employees by publicly repudiating those same conservative customers.
00:01:12.040 Here's the thing.
00:01:13.120 I do remember. 0.93
00:01:14.340 I remember every time one of these cowardly companies betrays us. 0.59
00:01:17.940 And it is a betrayal, make no mistake.
00:01:19.740 They know our politics before they advertise with us.
00:01:22.600 It's why they advertise with us.
00:01:25.180 We reach a large audience.
00:01:26.300 They want that audience to buy their goods and services.
00:01:29.580 We go out of our way to make absolutely sure they know what we're about before they get
00:01:33.020 into business with us.
00:01:34.140 And they get into business with us anyway because it works.
00:01:37.540 They're happy that we leverage our personal credibility to tell our audience about their
00:01:41.500 products.
00:01:42.180 We're happy, too.
00:01:43.140 But then at the first sign of trouble, in the case of Harry's Razors, it was an attack from
00:01:47.880 a Twitter account with two, yes, two followers online.
00:01:51.560 Well, then they not only pull their sponsorships, but they publicly attack us and the very audience
00:01:56.520 that they paid us to reach.
00:01:57.800 Harry said our views, in this case, the very common view that gender dysphoria is a mental
00:02:12.080 illness, were, quote, inexcusable.
00:02:14.440 They said it publicly, showing the whole world how pure they are, of course, but also signaling
00:02:19.280 to all of our other advertisers that the only excusable thing to do would be to also cancel
00:02:24.100 on us.
00:02:25.000 See, that makes it a direct attack on our business and a direct attack on our audience, too.
00:02:30.020 So what are we to do?
00:02:31.660 Well, what conservatives have been doing for years is lose.
00:02:35.340 We're supposed to take the L. We're supposed to get a little poorer.
00:02:38.100 We're supposed to hire fewer people.
00:02:39.400 We're supposed to be a little less profitable. 0.99
00:02:41.980 And, of course, we bitch. 1.00
00:02:43.300 Oh, how we complain. 1.00
00:02:44.620 The left is terrible.
00:02:45.660 It's cancel culture. 0.96
00:02:46.560 They're trying to silence us.
00:02:47.920 And then we beg.
00:02:49.960 We beg for donations, mostly.
00:02:52.060 Stand up to the censorious left, we shout, by sending us your money.
00:02:55.240 And what you get for your money is, well, more losing and more bitching and more begging. 0.95
00:03:01.540 That's economic incentive at work.
00:03:03.900 As far as actual action, at most, we might rally for a good old-fashioned boycott.
00:03:08.420 Boycotts, of course, cost the offending company in question virtually nothing, and they're
00:03:11.920 over in virtually no time.
00:03:13.260 Of course they are.
00:03:14.480 Because in the end, we still need those products.
00:03:17.340 Nike may endorse Colin Kaepernick, but we still need good shoes.
00:03:21.220 Hollywood may sucker punch us every time we turn on the TV, but we still need good entertainment.
00:03:25.800 Harry's may call us inexcusable, but you still need a good shave.
00:03:29.800 Well, I'm tired of losing.
00:03:31.180 I want to win for a change.
00:03:32.640 I want to create culture.
00:03:34.020 And I want to have a frickin' good time doing it, because losing? 0.96
00:03:37.540 Losing sucks. 0.89
00:03:39.260 That's why today, The Daily Wire is launching Jeremy's Razors, a direct competitor to Harry's, 0.96
00:03:44.400 where people with inexcusable values like mine can get a great razor without having
00:03:48.700 to give their money to people who clearly hate them.
00:03:51.120 It's why The Daily Wire launched its own film company last year, so people, again,
00:03:55.240 with inexcusable values like mine, can get great entertainment without giving their money
00:03:59.520 to people who clearly hate them.
00:04:01.280 It's why The Daily Wire is in the podcasting business, and the news business, and the commentary
00:04:05.320 business, and the technology business.
00:04:07.420 Business, mind you, not charity.
00:04:09.580 We're a for-profit company.
00:04:11.280 We don't make our money by complaining and begging.
00:04:14.080 We make our money by building value and selling it to people who think it's worth buying.
00:04:19.120 We win by winning.
00:04:21.400 The left is happy to bifurcate the culture, to rip it in two.
00:04:24.920 They're convinced they'll pay no economic price for this, because they know what I know.
00:04:29.180 You still need those goods and services.
00:04:31.440 So in order to win, we have to rip the economy in two.
00:04:35.300 We have to give conservatives their own companies.
00:04:37.600 We have to give conservatives their own products to buy.
00:04:39.640 We have to build actual market alternatives that, in success, will force the left to take
00:04:45.720 real losses if they don't compete for our business.
00:04:49.360 The Daily Wire is doing just that.
00:04:51.560 Jeremy's Razors is doing just that.
00:04:54.580 Will it work?
00:04:56.040 I don't know.
00:04:57.240 It certainly won't work perfectly, this being the real world and all.
00:05:00.180 But I know what won't work, what doesn't work.
00:05:03.120 And what doesn't work is the non-profit right losing its way to higher and higher donations
00:05:08.520 from a smaller and smaller conservative movement that still has to actually spend its real money
00:05:13.100 paying the left for all of its goods and services.
00:05:15.700 That is a sure recipe for failure.
00:05:18.420 If we want to win, we have to compete.
00:05:21.180 And competition means building a future, not just lamenting the loss of the past.
00:05:25.920 It means fighting in the economy and culture, not just complaining about the loss of the
00:05:30.260 economy and culture.
00:05:31.600 It means starting for-profit companies that create actual economic incentives for better
00:05:36.940 behavior.
00:05:38.060 That's what animates me.
00:05:39.580 That's what drives the Daily Wire.
00:05:41.640 That's the real fight.
00:05:43.440 If you want a better future, you have to build it.
00:05:46.420 And if you want a better shave, well, we're going to build that for you.
