00:00:37.660 For those of you who have been living under a rock, I'd like to play the most viral hit song of the entire summer just a little bit from it.

00:00:46.120 This, of course, would be Bold Lib.

00:00:48.820 Being child-free threatens the patriarchy.

00:00:54.080 We don't need no man. 1.00

00:00:56.980 We can do everything he can.

00:00:59.040 Busted! 0.66

00:00:59.760 I'm a bold lip.

00:01:03.100 Taylor's on my side.

00:01:05.300 I'm a bold lip.

00:01:08.560 Magna starts to cry.

00:01:10.260 What?

00:01:10.880 I wish we could listen to all the rest of it, but I want to get to our guest.

00:01:15.300 When we have guests come on the show, we usually have them send over a short bio.

00:01:18.940 Angela sent us this bio, 42, child-free, viral, unboxable, no babysitter needed.

00:01:28.200 Angela, thank you for coming on the show.

00:01:29.720 Hi, Michael.

00:01:30.660 Thank you so much for having me.

00:01:32.720 Angela, there's so much I want to get to, not just about the song, but really about your entire journey.

00:01:38.800 I saw most recently that you were a 42, child-free, in Atlantic City, and that the right obviously hates that.

00:01:48.120 How did you do in Atlantic City?

00:01:49.500 Did you win?

00:01:51.980 A little hit or miss.

00:01:54.080 I like to play roulette.

00:01:55.860 I have a strategy.

00:01:57.680 It's a pretty bold strategy on going with green.

00:02:01.620 So I'm all in on green.

00:02:04.100 And a little bit of some wins, some losses, but I'm not a huge gambler.

00:02:09.080 You obviously did not need a babysitter when you were down there.

00:02:11.900 Angela, tell me, well, before we get to your broader political journey, I guess we have to touch on the news.

00:02:18.560 Donald Trump has accepted the putative endorsement of the Swifties for Trump.

00:02:24.320 But you, of course, point out in the chorus to your song that you're a bold lib and Taylor's on your side, on the side of the libs.

00:02:32.700 So how do you make sense of that?

00:02:34.920 Is Trump expressing fake news?

00:02:38.580 Or is the Swiftie camp divided?

00:02:41.120 Is Taylor going to endorse Trump and betray you?

00:02:44.540 Where does it stand?

00:02:45.220 I find it hard to believe that Taylor would endorse Trump because I feel like, you know, we're under attack right now, which is part of all the content that I'm creating about being 42, child free, no babysitter needed.

00:02:58.400 You know, we're getting a bad rep right now, Taylor included, for being, you know, women of a certain age, without children, kind of, you know, single, dating, whatever, being bad role models for women.

00:03:12.100 And so a lot of the content that I'm creating right now is around that, embracing it and it being okay to make those choices and, you know, kind of promoting that and embracing it.

00:03:22.940 So, yeah, those two things don't go together to me.

00:03:27.560 If Taylor marries Travis Kelsey and then has kids, will that change your stance and the stance of bold libs on Taylor? 0.94

00:03:35.760 We'll see, you know, we'll see, you know, we'll see where Taylor goes.

00:03:39.460 It's a journey.

00:03:41.160 So I think, you know, it's hard to say right now because we kind of have to see how she plays her cards and how things roll out.

00:03:48.760 Now, tell me about your political journey because, you know, I would never ask a lady her age, but you've said it repeatedly.

00:03:55.420 You're 42 and you've really exploded onto the scene as maybe the political phenomenon of the year in 2024.

00:04:03.240 So how did you get to this point?

00:04:05.020 How did you become so lib?

00:04:07.060 How did you become so bold?

00:04:08.720 And why now?

00:04:10.160 I think it really is a journey.

00:04:12.520 And as a content creator, I think you kind of put stuff out and see what sticks and kind of like find your own way.

00:04:19.940 So I do think, you know, the word of a journey totally makes sense.

00:04:23.640 It kind of started, it kind of started, you know, doing dancing videos that sort of went viral.

00:04:31.700 And then, you know, it went into walks and just kind of the reaction has been wild.

00:04:41.080 So it just, it kind of caught on.

00:04:43.180 And I think it's been fun for me.

00:04:45.580 Like I try to have fun with it.

00:04:47.000 I think, you know, I'm trying to bridge a gap in a way.

00:04:50.000 I think that thing be wild. 0.99

00:04:51.640 You know, there's good points on both sides.

00:04:54.260 Things can be, you know, too far on both sides.

00:04:57.480 So I think by having fun, like we can have laughs together to kind of like have conversations.

00:05:04.360 So yeah, just, you know, trying to have fun with it and like seeing the response has been nuts.

00:05:09.380 Obviously, I get a lot of hate, but it's really cool to kind of be a lib, a bold lib who people on the right actually like and follow and support.

00:05:20.560 But now this is confusing, Angela.

00:05:22.680 This is very confusing because you say people on the right like and support you and you're saying you're kind of bridging a gap.

00:05:30.060 But I have been reliably informed by your account that everything about your character, the right hates.

00:05:37.940 Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of hate, but the point is there's also a little bit of love there.

00:05:43.020 People can like, you know, not take it as seriously.

00:05:45.720 But yes, primarily you can just see by the replies and the response that the right does really hate it.

00:05:52.880 I mean, it's like, you know, a lot of that. 0.99

00:05:55.260 But it is nice to find those nuggets of like people who appreciate it and not just me being, you know, attacking the right about, you know, just I hate the right, the right stupid. 0.97

00:06:07.880 There's a lot of that content out there with liberals, I think. 0.96

00:06:11.260 And so I'm trying to, you know, to have a little more fun with it.

00:06:15.380 Right now, go to GoodRanchers.com, use promo code Knowles.

00:06:19.200 The other day for lunch, sweet little Alisa grilled up two nice Good Ranchers ribeyes.

00:06:26.980 And we had hoagie rolls, a little homemade horse rider sauce and a little bit of cheese.

00:06:33.460 And I ate one of these steak sandwiches with the unbelievably delicious Good Ranchers meat, which is somehow even better today than it was when this company first started.

00:06:43.860 And it was so good.

00:06:45.460 I'm almost ashamed to say this, but I'm also somewhat proud.

00:06:49.220 I ate a second hoagie for lunch.

00:06:51.840 That's how good.

00:06:52.260 Good Ranchers meat is the best meat you're going to get.

00:06:53.900 It's time to say goodbye to that mystery meat with Good Ranchers sourcing all their meat exclusively from American farms.

00:06:58.440 You're getting 100% American meat, no antibiotics, no added hormones, definitely no seed oils, just pure steakhouse quality cuts that'll make you wonder why you ever settled for less.

00:07:07.860 Every cut is pre-trimmed, individually packed, vacuum sealed, meaning no more messy meal prep or wasted food.

00:07:12.980 Right now, Good Ranchers is having a presidential promo for a limited time to get a free add-on for a whole four years until the next election.

00:07:20.040 When you subscribe to any of their boxes, you get to decide if you want extra plain chicken breast, Angus ground beef, applewood smoked bacon, or wild-caught salmon in every order for four years.

00:07:28.280 Use code Knowles, K-N-W-L-E-S. 1.00

00:07:30.060 Claim this presidential promo worth over $1,200 and bring 100% American meat to your family until 2028.

00:07:38.120 Goodranchers.com, promo code Knowles.

00:07:39.860 Some have suggested, Angela, that the character of the bold lib is, well, is just that, is something of an exaggeration.

00:07:49.620 And that, in fact, your content is not merely earnest, but in fact, not merely political even, but metapolitical.

00:07:59.600 That it's a commentary on the very nature of political media and discourse in 2024.

00:08:04.680 Now, I, of course, take you entirely at your word and at face value, but how would you respond to those critics?

00:08:12.140 I mean, I don't know why they would say that.

00:08:17.440 Fair enough.

00:08:18.360 You make a good point.

00:08:20.060 So then, okay, then let's bring it back to reality and the nuts and bolts of 2024.

00:08:25.900 You're 42, child-free, viral, unboxable, don't need a babysitter, very bold.

00:08:33.120 What do you, where do you place the chances for Kamala and Trump?

00:08:37.860 And what do you hope to see out of their respective potential administrations?

00:08:42.940 Yeah, I mean, I don't know.

00:08:44.820 I'm like, I don't know what's going to happen, to be honest.

00:08:49.360 I mean, I think we stand more of a chance with Kamala now.

00:08:53.660 I think there's some hope there.

00:08:55.700 I would, of course, love to see the first female president, woman president. 1.00

00:09:00.440 Um, I think it's time, but I don't know.

00:09:03.940 I'm kind of watching it unfold as everyone else is.

00:09:07.320 So I don't, I really don't, I'm kind of like anything could happen.

00:09:11.340 So nothing surprises me anymore.

00:09:13.760 And then finally, Angela, what people have watched your content, a lot of people, a lot

00:09:19.600 of men have watched your content.

00:09:21.540 And I don't have any information on this, but I would just have to assume some man would

00:09:27.900 look and say, wow, this, you know, this bold lib is, is attractive.

00:09:31.440 I want to take this bold lib on a date.

00:09:33.660 Maybe I want to court this bold lib. 0.72

00:09:35.840 Maybe I want to get married.

00:09:37.120 And then maybe I want to form a family with this bold lib and whether that includes a

00:09:41.940 biological children or adopted children, I want to have children with this bold lib.

00:09:46.240 And so if, if such things were to come to pass, would that interest you?

00:09:53.160 Would that shake your identity to the core?

00:09:56.020 Would you cease to be yourself?

00:09:57.740 What would that mean?

00:09:58.680 Who would the bold lib be if such events were to occur?

00:10:02.660 I'm always going to be myself.

00:10:05.180 You know, but again, as we've talked about things being a journey, I don't know what

00:10:09.680 tomorrow holds.

00:10:11.200 So I can't say anything definitively, but I'm always going to stay true to myself and what

00:10:16.700 I believe in and put that out there.

00:10:18.960 And right now I'm happy with where I am.

00:10:21.600 These are the decisions that I've made.

00:10:23.520 Of course, I don't know what's in store for me and I'm open to that and seeing, you know,

00:10:29.020 where the ride takes me.

00:10:30.720 Um, but yeah, I'm always, you know, right now I want everyone to know that their choices

00:10:36.360 are okay.

00:10:38.340 And, um, I don't, you know, I feel like we're being told as women who are single and child

00:10:43.920 free and of a certain age that, you know, that's our only purpose in life and like what,

00:10:48.440 and we're selfish and what's the point of living.

00:10:50.380 And that's just terrible, a terrible message to put out there.

00:10:54.260 Um, think of, you know, women who desperately want to have children and can't and, um, to 0.84

00:11:00.780 make them feel less than and to feel bad about themselves because they can't fulfill that

00:11:06.400 is terrible.

00:11:07.320 That's a very good point, Andrew, because I, you know, I have friends, I have a lot of

00:11:11.040 friends, even who are not bold libs, who are actually, um, demure conservatives who will

00:11:16.740 say, you know, they'll be in their thirties or forties and they're, they really want to

00:11:20.340 get married and they really want to have kids.

00:11:21.840 And a lot of them will say, you know, look, I was, I don't know, I was put on this path

00:11:26.240 and I went to college and I got my job and I worked in the city and I, it was hard to 1.00

00:11:29.860 date and the guys are jerks. 0.99

00:11:31.280 And there was no, I was told not to get married right away. 1.00

00:11:33.960 I was told not to have kids right away.

00:11:35.300 And now I regret it.

00:11:36.620 And this is part of why I, I, I don't, I try not to attack women who are, you know, uh, 0.99

00:11:42.840 42 and child free and all the rest of it in part, because of what you just said, there

00:11:47.920 were so many women who really want to get married and have kids and who feel that those 1.00

00:11:53.880 possibilities have been foreclosed to them.

00:11:55.440 But then doesn't that, doesn't that create a problem for your political project, which

00:12:01.300 is, you know, if you're saying no choices are bad and everyone should just, whatever

00:12:05.960 choices they've made, that's great.

00:12:07.340 But, but then simultaneously you're saying part of the reason we should, uh, state these

00:12:12.400 things is because so many women regret the choices that they have made. 1.00

00:12:17.220 So in a way, wouldn't it be more charitable to suggest that maybe certain choices are better

00:12:21.620 than others and might be more conducive to their happiness?

00:12:23.600 Uh, I think it's very tricky.

00:12:26.080 I think there's a, you know, it's a complex issue and everybody's situation is different.

00:12:30.640 And that's why I say, I think it's, it's all okay.

00:12:33.920 Um, even, even for the ones who regret it though.

00:12:36.480 I haven't, I mean, that exists, but I don't think primarily that's what I'm hearing.

00:12:40.800 I mean, I think we can talk about these things and that's a component of some people's experience.

00:12:46.840 Um, so yeah, put it on the table, but at the end of the day, it's still, you know, you

00:12:50.920 can lay labor, that's the open conversation and people can talk about their experience

00:12:55.600 of regretting it, but then that shouldn't be forced upon someone else who, okay, I hear

00:13:00.240 that, but I'm still happy with my decision.

00:13:03.220 And it's, it's a complicated decision, I think for a lot of people.

00:13:07.560 And I get that.

00:13:08.560 It is.

00:13:09.180 I totally agree because the complication of it's like the complication of education.

00:13:12.820 It's that on the one hand, you, you want to respect people in making their decisions,

00:13:19.240 but in order to make decisions, people have to be educated so that they're, you know, in

00:13:23.640 control of their appetites and things and they make good decisions.

00:13:26.640 But in order to be educated, you have to be forced into certain things.

00:13:29.680 You know, I have, you have to be forced to take the test.

00:13:31.720 You have to be forced to study the book.

00:13:33.080 You have to be forced to do whatever.

00:13:34.440 So there's this, this complex interplay of coercion that, that is, that is required for

00:13:40.940 a free choice and we want the free choice, but it, so it's very, you know, you have to

00:13:45.420 be very, very bold in how you approach that question.

00:13:48.060 And on the flip side too, right?

00:13:50.280 There are a lot of people, sorry, but who regret having kids.

00:13:54.480 So there's regret on both sides.

00:13:56.920 Like there's regret, you know, or like, no, do you know people who regret having kids?

00:14:01.920 There's a lot of people who make, like, they're never going to say, I don't love my, you know,

00:14:06.280 but there's a lot of comments along those lines that would lead one to believe that

00:14:11.560 are like more power to you.

00:14:13.300 Like, you know, I don't know.

00:14:15.100 I think that's, I think that's social media fake news.

00:14:17.480 I mean, there, look, there are, are there discreet moments when you're sitting around and your

00:14:21.780 kid is like throwing spaghetti on the wall and smashing up your stuff and screaming in

00:14:26.540 your face where you think like, man, it would beat my life might be slightly easier right 0.86

00:14:30.860 now if you weren't doing that.

00:14:32.440 But generally speaking, you know, that's sublime.

00:14:35.100 So as you're pointing out, you really, I mean, your boldness transcends even ordinary

00:14:41.700 political discourse because it's a boldness of, of transgression, of transcendence, of saying

00:14:47.400 that you, you are bridging a gap and that who knows what the future holds.

00:14:51.040 Is there, Angela, a possibility that the bold lib could one day evolve into a trad con?

00:15:00.060 Um, I can't foresee that right now because I'm so in my bold lib era, but with Taylor

00:15:10.780 on my side.

00:15:11.620 So, um, yeah, I mean, never say never, but right now I, I cannot, I cannot foresee that.

00:15:17.440 All right.

00:15:18.040 Well, gentlemen in the chat, you know, speaking of comments that we all see, gentlemen, you,

00:15:22.460 you have your challenge laid out before you, uh, Angela, it truly a pleasure to say, I think

00:15:29.100 you are probably the most significant political figure I have spoken to this election cycle.

00:15:35.260 There are others who would claim, you know, greater political influence or something, but

00:15:39.500 in terms of actual political significance, uh, you, I think are at the top of the list.

00:15:44.400 Everyone ought to check out bold lib.

00:15:46.300 Can we expect any more music videos?

00:15:48.340 Yeah.

00:15:48.920 So I, there may or may not be a remix in the mix, um, next up of, of bold lib.

00:15:57.900 So that could be, but I did, I want to make sure I have the chance to say thank you, Michael

00:16:02.660 as well, because watching somebody sent me the clip of you playing and reacting to bold

00:16:08.120 lib.

00:16:08.340 And it was like, it was so like precious and endearing, like watching your genuine reaction

00:16:14.360 to the video and your comments and saying it was the best that you've had on music Monday.

00:16:19.840 And yes, um, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was entirely sincere.

00:16:24.500 It is great.

00:16:25.000 It's also probably the best political commentary I've seen in several years.

00:16:28.960 It was, it was excellent.

00:16:30.260 And I love the fact that your next music video will be a remix, that it will be actually a

00:16:36.480 recursive project on bold lib is the cherry on top of the sundae, uh, Angela, thank you

00:16:43.140 for coming on the show.

00:16:44.080 Thank you so much.

00:16:45.320 And thank you to all of you.
