00:00:00.000 Do you guys know what that means? It means this girl can't call herself a carnivore anymore. 0.73
00:00:04.100 Now this has always been my theory. Heal the gut, add foods back in, easy peasy. However, 1.00
00:00:09.920 it was not easy peasy. It is the first time in over eight years that I've been able to eat
00:00:14.620 anything other than ruminant meat without triggering an autoimmune or psych disorder.
00:00:18.800 Not only does the diet work to put the vast majority of people into remission,
00:00:23.480 but it means actual healing is possible. And I certainly needed more help than just eating
00:00:27.940 meat and avoiding dietary triggers. In this video, I'm going to cover what I've done in the last 10
00:00:32.380 years, what's worked, what's reduced my sensitivities, what didn't work, what reintroduction
00:00:37.560 has been like, and tips for people looking to try this. So let's get into it. Hey everyone,
00:00:45.220 it has now officially been eight years of the carnivore diet, specifically the lion diet,
00:00:50.860 which is the most extreme elimination version of a carnivore diet made up of only rumen and animal
00:00:56.700 meat like beef or lamb and salt and water. I started it in a desperate attempt to treat severe
00:01:02.440 psychiatric issues including bipolar type 2 with major depression and juvenile idiopathic arthritis
00:01:08.280 that I'd had since I was two. That caused a hip and ankle replacement at 17 despite
00:01:13.900 immunosuppressive treatment. So that's why I went on the diet in the first place and now it's been
00:01:18.900 eight years of it, which is crazy. However, I have even bigger news than eight years on the
00:01:26.460 lion diet. Right before it was eight years to the day on this diet, I started slowly reintroducing
00:01:33.840 foods without major reactions. That's the big part. So I can't really say it's been eight years
00:01:41.160 on this diet, eight years minus a few months, but close enough really. So to reiterate, I've managed
00:01:47.180 to reintroduce some foods without arthritic flare-ups or mood issues. It is the first time
00:01:52.000 in over eight years that I've been able to eat anything other than ruminant meat without triggering
00:01:57.420 an autoimmune or psych disorder. Do you guys know what that means? One, it means this girl can't
00:02:04.200 call herself a carnivore anymore. But importantly, more importantly, it means that not only does the
00:02:11.020 diet work to put the vast majority of people into remission while they're on it, but it means actual
00:02:18.280 healing is possible. Now, this has always been my theory, which is all over my website,
00:02:22.920 liondiet.com. Heal the gut, add foods back in, easy peasy. The lion diet is supposed to be used
00:02:30.660 as an elimination diet to give you symptom relief while you pursue the root cause. However, it was
00:02:36.320 not easy peasy. It took me eight years to be able to eat anything without getting arthritis or
00:02:40.580 symptoms. So for a while there, the healing part felt like a pipe dream, or I thought I was going
00:02:46.340 to be on a meat diet forever to stay in remission, which I would have been fine with. I would have
00:02:51.400 been fine with, but it just felt like that wasn't addressing something that was still a problem.
00:02:56.980 So in theory, the leaky gut, heal the gut, introduce food sounded good. But in reality,
00:03:03.400 getting there was harder than just heal your gut. It was not easily done. And I certainly
00:03:08.260 needed more help than just eating meat which is already a big enough deal and avoiding dietary
00:03:12.900 triggers so here we are we did it in this video i'm going to cover what i've done in the last 10
00:03:18.460 years what's worked what's reduced my sensitivities what didn't work what reintroduction has been like
00:03:24.660 and tips for people looking to try this and before we get into details you may know this
00:03:31.340 i've launched the world's largest keto and carnivore study on the lion diet and keto diet
00:03:35.380 and its impact on rheumatoid arthritis and IBD.
00:03:38.880 The study is run by a medical team separate from me,
00:03:41.320 but I'm trying to collect funding.
00:03:43.280 I've linked the GoFundMe below.
00:03:45.380 Donations are tax deductible.
00:03:47.040 All the money will be used to fund the study.
00:03:49.460 We're at $160,000 for funding.
00:03:52.500 Thank you so much to everyone who donated.
00:03:54.880 We're looking for about $300,000 more,
00:03:57.580 which is incredibly inexpensive actually for a study this size.
00:04:01.660 As you guys know, studies like this are not easy to organize
00:04:04.260 and impossible to fund because they don't rely on pharmaceuticals so they don't get funding if
00:04:09.660 anything they go against pharmaceutical companies so it's up to people like me and you guys to get
00:04:14.820 them done and doctors and researchers that are actually interested in helping people not just
00:04:19.120 making money so that's kind of pathetic but here we are and we have the study and we have the team
00:04:25.600 and we have a bunch of funding we're just looking for a bit more so if you would like to support the 0.65
00:04:30.200 study it would be greatly appreciated I think it could change the medical landscape and now we know
00:04:35.000 at least for me as a case study I I'm eating things without getting arthritis that is crazy
00:04:43.420 that's crazy that hasn't happened to me like I said in eight years and I've had arthritis since
00:04:49.300 I was two now the meat diet did put it in remission but I couldn't eat anything other than
00:04:53.400 meat until now so we need some research because this is crazy whatever isn't supported by your
00:04:59.900 guys's donations i'm going to cover with business money thanks to peterson academy so this is
00:05:05.260 getting done either way but i would like some more help if possible or if you're in america
00:05:10.460 haven't tried the keto or carnivore diet are diagnosed formally by a doctor with rheumatoid
00:05:16.140 arthritis or ibd and you're interested in taking part of the study please consider applying we're
00:05:21.220 still looking for more people to take part in it we want a bunch of people so this is really taken
00:05:25.720 seriously you'll get coaching you'll get a horde of tests done that you'll get results to
00:05:30.440 and maybe suffering with a disease might be able to stop other people suffering in the future
00:05:35.980 depending on the results of the study of course there's more info about the study linked on the
00:05:40.440 gofundme page below and in my last youtube video and the link to apply to take part in the study
00:05:46.440 and support it are in the description please share it i think it could change how autoimmunity
00:05:51.120 is treated eventually and the current medical system doesn't treat autoimmunity they have no
00:05:55.460 idea what they're doing in that regard none so let's get into it let's start at the beginning
00:06:01.220 I think this would be good of my diet journey if you guys don't know I didn't start my diet
00:06:07.740 journey by only eating beef first I cut out gluten and then when that mildly improved symptoms out of
00:06:13.820 curiosity not because I actually thought it would do anything I stopped eating processed foods all
00:06:18.980 processed foods dairy eggs and most fruit and was eating a very limited paleo diet to rule out
00:06:25.400 diet as a factor in my illnesses. That was from mid 2015 to mid 2016. And from mid 2016 to mid
00:06:32.780 to December, 2017, I was only eating meat and greens. So that was like meat, lettuce,
00:06:38.920 collard greens, arugula, spinach, I don't know, greens. So I didn't go from the standard American
00:06:45.440 diet to just beef. I went from basically the autoimmune paleo or gaps diet, but stricter
00:06:51.520 to meat and greens to just beef over a period of two years those diets didn't work 100 for my
00:06:57.780 autoimmune issues or i wouldn't have done just beef now what those initial paleo and keto like
00:07:03.480 diets did is they did reduce my symptoms massively and got me off of antidepressants
00:07:08.500 painkillers and immune suppressants among other medications they definitely started my road to
00:07:14.360 health with a bang were extremely effective just not 100 effective and i cannot recommend paleo
00:07:20.060 diets or dairy-free keto diets enough for general health for the average person. However, and I know
00:07:26.340 there are a lot of people pushing the animal-based diet to treat disease, and I'm sure they help some
00:07:32.000 people, but for people with severe disease, that type of dietary intervention or just cutting
00:07:37.660 processed foods doesn't necessarily work. And sometimes you need to get way stricter. So in
00:07:44.360 2017 after my first pregnancy with scarlet and moving into a moldy house I wasn't aware of that
00:07:50.380 at the time but I know no looking back it had a leak in the basement and was definitely moldy
00:07:56.160 those paleo and keto diets stopped helping really at all for my symptoms I'm telling you guys the
00:08:03.280 background here because the lion diet doesn't just work by cutting out processed foods it's
00:08:09.780 something more and hopefully we're going to get into it with some research a common comment I get
00:08:14.180 from skeptics is, well, if you just cut processed foods, you'd get the same result. And that isn't
00:08:18.980 right. I obviously didn't want to just eat beef. So obviously I tried everything else I could
00:08:24.240 before giving up foods I love. Contrary to popular belief, but evident if you think about it for half
00:08:29.200 a second, giving up all foods and only eating beef is actually extremely difficult. And it takes a
00:08:36.500 lot of discipline. It's way harder than just giving up processed foods. So obviously I tried that
00:08:42.200 first. It was also way harder to figure out I could actually survive only eating meat versus
00:08:48.860 figure out trying to cut processed foods, which wasn't as obvious back in 2015, but it's pretty
00:08:55.360 obvious now. So this comment about cutting processed foods and that leading to remission
00:09:00.020 of severe disease and the reaction from people that some other diet would work that was less
00:09:05.140 restricted is partly why we're going to be studying the lion diet versus the ketogenic diet versus the
00:09:10.420 standard american diet for ra and ibd we'll finally have a comparison study to see if the therapeutic
00:09:16.240 effect of these diets is from ketosis and cutting processed foods or something more with the lion
00:09:21.960 diet like extreme elimination of plant foods that the body mistakenly starts reacting to 0.98
00:09:26.800 once it gets too sick and the gut is damaged which is my theory but hopefully we'll have some actual
00:09:31.360 data about this which would be amazing so and excuse me if my voice is a little gravelly i have
00:09:36.760 a cold because I have children and it's winter so I have a cold but it's not dietary I promise
00:09:44.640 so in December 2017 I started eating only beef knowing that beef didn't give me any symptoms
00:09:51.840 thinking I'd be on the diet for three months maybe less all these experiments are still on my blog
00:09:56.880 by the way if you want to check out old blog posts from confused Michaela so December 2017 was after
00:10:03.480 my arthritis came back during and after pregnancy after a period of near remission on a meat and
00:10:08.720 greens diet my depression had also come back with a vengeance although I was in antidepressant
00:10:13.940 withdrawal at the time so that makes the cause of the depression kind of complicated it could
00:10:18.360 have been antidepressant withdrawal but regardless I was depressed so that kind of came back in 2017
00:10:23.740 and as anyone with depression knows it's it's horrible and that was the main reason it was the
00:10:29.140 arthritis too but that was the main reason I was like I need to get this under control I don't want
00:10:33.120 go back on medication I felt better now I'm feeling worse again I felt better on the paleo
00:10:38.940 and keto diets and then I started feeling worse and so out of desperation I just went to just beef
00:10:45.240 my arthritic symptoms went away after two weeks of only eating beef so really quickly but again
00:10:53.540 I just went from beef and greens to just beef after six weeks I stopped crying in the mornings
00:10:57.900 around then I tried organic olives I tried to reintroduce olives and had a huge arthritic
00:11:02.940 flare-up huge depressive flare-up and decided I'd stick with the beef diet for longer. Five months
00:11:09.300 into the lion diet and moving out of the house I'd been living in which definitely had mold issues
00:11:13.780 like I said I felt better than I had ever felt before. That was months before I ended up going
00:11:21.540 on Joe Rogan talking about the carnivore diet and how it completely changed my life. After that I
00:11:28.380 didn't introduce any new food or even take a pill for years antidepressant withdrawal really spooked
00:11:34.620 me for taking pills and I was reactive to everything and I knew that I was reactive to
00:11:40.040 reactive to fillers and pills I was reactive to chemicals I was being careful I stopped wearing
00:11:45.160 perfume I was reacting to shampoo I was reacting to everything however the first thing I did
00:11:53.060 introduce was vodka now I know that's not a health food in the least and I feel like people
00:11:57.720 discredit me because who is on a diet of meat and occasional vodka but that's how you know I'm
00:12:05.320 telling the truth about everything I'm saying here I wouldn't add in the vodka part if it was
00:12:11.160 a lie because it just doesn't line up with the biohacking health story to be honest I wasn't
00:12:16.440 really biohacking at that point I think I wrote about this in the blog I had non-toxic products
00:12:21.220 and I was unbelievably strict with my diet but that was because I was reacting to everything
00:12:25.360 not because I was biohacking to biohack I was just avoiding things that were obviously making me sick
00:12:32.900 so mainly I was trying to not be crazy and not have an autoimmune disorder so for vodka I missed
00:12:39.940 socializing quite a bit especially without being able to eat anywhere other than steakhouses which
00:12:45.840 I couldn't afford to do often at that point vodka didn't cause autoimmune flare-ups or mood issues
00:12:51.240 just unbelievably wicked hangovers on a no carb diet so then I was on a beef salt and occasional
00:12:57.540 vodka diet for a number of years in 2020 I tried to reintroduce some organic berries and salmon
00:13:02.640 which brought back arthritis eventually within a few weeks and and I could just tell it wasn't good
00:13:09.020 like I remember just going to the fridge in a stupor and being like where are the berries
00:13:12.520 which I used to do before I cut out carbs just like end up with the fridge open being like how
00:13:18.460 did I get here? What just happened? And like, it felt like that started coming back when
00:13:22.880 I reintroduced berries and then the arthritis started coming back. And so I, I stopped
00:13:26.860 obviously in 2021, I started eating only lamb instead of beef and lamb. And I was on doing
00:13:36.060 that for about two years. That was after moving to Nashville into a unit that flooded. And
00:13:41.820 then most definitely had a mold issue because it flooded, you know, with this much water
00:13:46.260 all over it and then they used a fan to dry it out which does not stop mold problems so you guys
00:13:54.080 might remember I moved from Nashville to Miami because I thought I was having tree allergies in
00:13:58.120 Nashville and I was getting so foggy and I was having trouble podcasting and my face was really
00:14:04.060 puffy and I was like whoa these allergies are so bad turned out that was mold then I moved to Miami
00:14:08.900 where they have even worse mold problems and got even sicker it's almost impossible to avoid moldy
00:14:14.700 hvacs in miami so in miami some of my old psych symptoms started again not as severely as pre-diet
00:14:22.340 but worse than they'd been since i'd recovered from antidepressant withdrawal and was on the
00:14:26.720 beef diet i also got heart palpitations and insomnia in that moldy house and i got so sensitive
00:14:33.920 to histamine i started to only eat lamb which is lower in histamine to avoid extreme digestive
00:14:39.400 problems like beef was just wasn't vibing with my just my stomach nothing was vibing living in mold
00:14:46.420 I also started the supplement the enzyme supplement DAO for histamine intolerance
00:14:51.720 at that time which helped a bit just to be able to tolerate lamb really I got diagnosed with
00:14:57.740 chronic inflammatory response syndrome SIRS and started treatment for that and I've gone into
00:15:02.860 details there's a bunch of videos up about that started treatment for that and more importantly
00:15:07.840 moved out of that house and strictly avoided mold. And I still strictly avoid mold. I believe
00:15:13.980 the SIRS treatment and avoiding mold was the beginning of reducing my actual sensitivities
00:15:18.540 rather than just avoiding triggering symptoms. I got pregnant almost immediately after moving
00:15:23.860 out of mold. It was literally, I moved out of mold in February, didn't find a clean place till
00:15:31.200 the beginning of April. And at the end of April, I was pregnant. And that was after having a
00:15:35.820 miscarriage in the mold exposed house in Miami, which really surprised me. Cause I was like,
00:15:40.920 I'm on this diet. Why, why am I deteriorating when I haven't changed anything? I have non-toxic
00:15:49.320 products. I have air purifiers, like what's going on. And then I ended up having a miscarriage and
00:15:54.080 that was in that moldy house. Um, so I got pregnant as soon as I moved out of that basically
00:15:58.860 and started SIRS treatment. I also started taking folinic acid, which is a tolerable form of folate
00:16:04.840 for me. And I did that because I was pregnant. My folate was also low, um, which could easily be
00:16:14.000 part of only eating meat. I wasn't even eating organs. So I'd keep an eye, anyone who's doing
00:16:19.100 this, I would keep an eye on folate specifically, but I'd keep an eye on all your vitamins,
00:16:22.980 especially because sick people's vitamins are always kind of wonky. So I started taking folinic
00:16:27.520 acid, which didn't make me hyper stimulated like methylfolate or folic acid, which both make me
00:16:34.020 feel terrible. I also started to be able to eat beef again after about four months of SIRS treatment.
00:16:39.800 Like I said, my vitamins took a hit while I lived in mold, even though my parents' vitamins looked
00:16:44.660 a lot better and they were on the same diet for the same amount of time, basically. So it was
00:16:49.220 environmentally caused, which I hadn't even realized at the time could happen. I didn't
00:16:52.440 realize your environment, purely your environment could impact your vitamins, but I mean, it seems
00:16:58.720 more obvious now so the vitamins and most of them that were depleted were b vitamins was it just b
00:17:04.300 vitamins yeah and it flattened my hormones my hormones were all messed up too but that recovered
00:17:10.220 actually pretty quickly given i got pregnant right away but the vitamins recovered after a period of
00:17:14.500 treatment um although i still supplement folinic acid in the last few years i've had two babies
00:17:22.000 under two which is so hard on the body it's so hard and so I've been continuing to monitor
00:17:31.680 vitamins carefully to avoid deficiencies given how new this diet is and there's no research etc etc
00:17:38.080 the next big thing in 2024 I did a gut treatment with Dr. Gabrielle Lyons team who I will have on
00:17:45.220 the podcast right away. Uh, I did that after I had an anaphylactic reaction to, I don't know what
00:17:53.300 that ended up with me in emergency and on prednisone for about a week, the prednisone
00:17:58.840 after the prednisone treatment, uh, I had H pylori. Now I think I had low levels of H pylori
00:18:05.760 before and the prednisone dampened down my immune system and H pylori kind of took over
00:18:10.100 and it was horrible and I was very desperate and I could tell I had some sort of stomach infection
00:18:16.180 so I reached out to Gabrielle Lyon and I got tested and I had H. pylori and I had a I can't
00:18:22.740 remember exactly what the pair it was a protozoa parasite which I was horrified about and candida
00:18:28.800 which I was really surprised about because I'd only been eating meat so how on earth like how
00:18:36.340 was it even surviving um so that was interesting so i treated a bunch of things i treated the h
00:18:45.020 pylori so i bombarded myself with antibiotics which i had been avoiding for years and anti-parasitics
00:18:50.520 and that within weeks completely eliminated my remaining histamine intolerance and any lingering
00:18:56.840 digestive issues and my digestion after bombarding myself with the appropriate antibiotics and
00:19:03.020 anti-parasitics, my digestion and all my lingering digestive issues fix themselves. So that I think
00:19:09.540 was a huge factor in why I'm able to tolerate more foods now. So SERS treatment, strict mold
00:19:15.060 avoidance and parasite treatment. And I think that's why I can tolerate some more foods. I am
00:19:21.980 now a different human than I was when I started only eating beef out of desperation in December
00:19:26.580 2017. So now I guess we should get into what didn't work. Cause I did try a number of things
00:19:32.340 over the years obviously I thought something would click eventually but I tried a whole bunch
00:19:36.800 of things probiotics have never worked for me now maybe now that I'm less reactive maybe they would
00:19:44.040 be beneficial now and so in the future and I'll keep you guys updated I'll probably try them again
00:19:48.380 but over the years I have tried probiotics I tried them before the meat diet on the paleo diet I tried
00:19:55.860 them before dieting at all I've tried them recently they do not make me feel good it doesn't matter if
00:20:00.800 they're low histamine or spore biotics. It doesn't matter. Uh, I think if you have a damaged gut,
00:20:07.860 sometimes the wrong probiotic or even the right probiotic, if it's just leaking into your body,
00:20:14.200 it doesn't matter if it's supposed to be healthy. You have to fix the gut barrier first. This is
00:20:19.220 all in theory, but in theory, at least it's logical. Hyperbaric oxygen, no noticeable difference
00:20:26.260 at all. I definitely find it relaxing and I can nap. I have excellent naps in there. So I'm sure
00:20:33.240 it's helpful. I know it's good for healing. Like there's definitely evidence that that's good for
00:20:37.960 you, but it didn't make a noticeable difference to me to reduce sensitivities. It certainly doesn't
00:20:43.320 hurt, but it just didn't move the needle. IV NAD felt like being hooked to a battery. I've done
00:20:50.560 over 18 of those treatments, no noticeable difference. And it felt awful. Uh, glutathione
00:20:55.660 also can be helpful to people. I couldn't tolerate this until like two weeks ago when I got less
00:21:02.640 reactive. It used to make me feel terrible too. So that never helped, even though my glutathione
00:21:06.920 levels were low. Um, most vitamins I couldn't tolerate. So those didn't help. What else did I
00:21:12.760 try? I did Eboo for, for, uh, mold, which is a type of blood filtration. Maybe it felt kind of
00:21:19.760 good I've done tons of ozone again probably a little bit relaxing but none of it really changed
00:21:28.020 my reactivity what did move the needle so saunas I've always found beneficial in a noticeable way
00:21:36.580 although I don't think that actually reduced sensitivities but it was helpful going through
00:21:41.100 antidepressant withdrawal and living in mold so not helpful for like long-term reduced sensitivities
00:21:47.360 but to mitigate symptoms at the time noticeable kpv peptide so i've gotten more interested in
00:21:53.660 peptides i tried bpc157 years and years ago that made no difference like no noticeable difference
00:22:00.080 the peptides weren't the cure but kpv which is supposed to reduce inflammation i at least noticed
00:22:06.280 made me feel a little bit better when i was taking bpc157 i didn't even i didn't notice anything it
00:22:11.500 didn't change anything i was still reactive but this was before mold this was before parasite
00:22:16.320 treatment so maybe now it would be beneficial um what else folinic acid i think has made me feel
00:22:25.880 physiologically calmer but it's very minor so i don't even know if i should really include that
00:22:32.060 in something that moved the needle however folinic acid is something i would actually
00:22:36.140 recommend to people doing the carnivore diet now especially women who are having babies
00:22:40.200 dao enzymes like i talked about useful for histamine intolerance i don't use them anymore
00:22:45.800 because I don't have histamine intolerance anymore,
00:22:47.500 but they got me through severe histamine intolerance
00:22:50.900 due to mold exposure.
00:22:52.060 Parasite treatment, that was a game changer.
00:22:54.900 Treating H. pylori was huge.
00:22:57.380 Now, I had gone to doctors and done parasite testing before.
00:23:00.940 I did that before I got on the beef diet multiple times.
00:23:04.100 I have so much testing done on my body, it's ridiculous.
00:23:07.140 If Brian Johnson didn't exist
00:23:08.760 and the recent biohacking people, 1.00
00:23:12.280 I know a couple of them, didn't exist,
00:23:14.420 I wouldn't know anyone who had more testing done than I've had on myself and nobody ever found
00:23:20.320 anything. So until recently, until I talked to Gabrielle Lyon and she did different tests.
00:23:26.300 So here's what I would recommend for parasite testing. Do a GI map test. It's a certain type
00:23:32.340 of stool test. Um, that shows some things, but it's going to miss like most parasites, 0.95
00:23:38.980 but it'll show dyspiosis so if h pylori shows up there treat it with quad therapy antibiotic
00:23:44.940 treatment i know there's a lot of like go to a naturopath you can naturally treat h pylori
00:23:50.740 maybe that works for some people that did not work for me i needed to wallop that with
00:23:55.300 antibiotic treatment and it was huge difference and my husband did too and i don't know who had
00:24:02.900 at first it's very very common though like we had somebody who works with us who was throwing up
00:24:09.940 after he ate for a number of days went to emergency couldn't they couldn't find anything
00:24:15.160 in emergency and he kept having this happen and he told us some of his symptoms and i was like okay
00:24:20.560 that sounds like h pylori is like burning i'll get into the symptoms in a sec he did quad therapy
00:24:25.840 and hasn't had quad therapy antibiotic treatment hasn't had any issues anymore so this is really
00:24:30.780 common the breath test they do for it in offices is notoriously useless symptoms can be a gnawing
00:24:36.780 feeling in your solar plexus so like right here this gnawing empty feeling that's a that's a big
00:24:46.960 sign bad breath in more severe cases acid reflux or even vomiting um oh plaque buildup um that can
00:24:56.120 be caused by H. pylori so can frequent cavities like if your diet is good and you're getting
00:25:01.500 frequent cavities even though you're not eating sugar you should look into H. pylori or at least
00:25:07.240 dysbiosis but H. pylori for me when it got bad I definitely had the gnawing feeling in my stomach
00:25:13.100 but before that when I know I had it because I have old stool tests it was there in moderate levels
00:25:21.100 but everyone I talked to was like don't worry it's fine it's normal I really do think that
00:25:25.620 was contributing to my a lot of my inability to tolerate foods and the symptoms weren't really
00:25:31.680 noticeable it just kind of showed up on the GI map in moderate amounts and I had extreme food
00:25:37.080 sensitivities so maybe that was the symptom I do think even treating the moderate levels would
00:25:41.320 have helped me a lot I also treated a protozoa parasite which I think you can get from like
00:25:46.700 lake water or something it's a pretty common one it was horrified me to learn I had a parasite I
00:25:52.440 like i live in a clean country i can't get parasites turns out that entire thing is wrong
00:25:58.180 so that might have helped as well but the h pylori treatment definitely helped um i used to
00:26:06.840 think parasite treatment was kind of woo woo i feel like i got into an algorithm on tiktok that
00:26:11.320 was like everybody has parasites and like this is what they look like i don't know who else has been
00:26:15.580 on that algorithm and i was just like okay we're not gonna go down that rabbit hole because that
00:26:19.720 seems a little out there. Like we live in a clean country. Uh, and I avoided antibiotics like the
00:26:24.500 plague because of all my gut issues. And I didn't know if those stemmed from antibiotic use as a
00:26:29.120 kid. Anyway, it's not woo woo. And the antibiotics that I took were definitely worth it. I avoided
00:26:37.620 taking metronatazole or fluoroquinolone antibiotics, but I did everything else by the regular medical
00:26:45.220 treatment book uh so i cannot recommend this enough like really looking into this seriously
00:26:52.580 for anyone with food sensitivities and gut issues or even fatigue and skin issues the problem is the
00:26:58.240 regular testing misses them so if you go to the doctor and you do a parasite test it's just going
00:27:01.920 to be negative uh in north america this is what i learned over the last couple years in north
00:27:06.220 america they mainly do pcr testing and i had to send a stool sample to africa to get looked at
00:27:12.520 under a microscope in the old fashioned way to pick anything up. So we've gotten so advanced.
00:27:18.700 We think we don't have parasites in America when in reality, we just can't test for them anymore.
00:27:24.020 Brilliant. Brilliant. So this is, this is most likely this and the mold exposure seem to be why
00:27:31.020 I've been stuck only eating meat for eight years and going to regular doctors. They don't believe
00:27:36.360 in mold and they can't test for parasites. Brilliant. You can't hate the mainstream medical
00:27:42.100 system enough. That being said, once I got a doctor that knew how to treat parasites,
00:27:47.680 the mainstream medical treatment of parasites really did work. So it's tricky. It's tricky.
00:27:54.340 So yeah, rule out H. pylori using the GI map test. Everybody can get that treated if it's there. I 0.98
00:27:59.720 think, um, I got treatment through Gabrielle Lyon who I'll have on. Like I said, if you can afford
00:28:05.380 her, that's great. But to be perfectly honest, it's not affordable for most people, which is
00:28:09.600 unfortunate. And hopefully when more people start talking about this and she's spreading
00:28:13.380 awareness too, it'll get cheaper. The testing will get cheaper. Um, I would do the GI map test
00:28:18.940 though. That'll still run you about 300 to $400 depending on the naturopath doing it,
00:28:23.420 but it's worth it. If you can't afford that and you have symptoms of parasites or extreme food
00:28:28.260 sensitivities and gut issues and autoimmunity, I'm not going to say just do the treatment without
00:28:35.100 testing but figure out how to do something and don't wait seven to eight years like me
00:28:40.220 h pylori treatment the actual treatment the antibiotics wasn't really a big deal for me
00:28:45.680 and i thought i was going to feel terrible on them i didn't feel good on them but i felt a lot
00:28:50.100 better at getting rid of h pylori and anti-parasitic drugs are quite safe they give them to
00:28:54.780 pregnant people in some countries it's just very it's really worth looking into uh first world 0.98
00:29:00.600 countries are stupid and naive thinking they're somehow cleaner than countries that commonly 1.00
00:29:04.680 treat parasites now we do have cleaner water so i guess there's that but we have worse testing 1.00
00:29:10.380 i'm still fired up about this because it's like here we are thinking we're dealing with something
00:29:15.880 really complicated with autoimmunity and these new diseases we have and now i can eat things
00:29:21.160 because i'm not living in mold and i got rid of parasites which we've been dealing with forever
00:29:25.720 anyway um i kind of want to tackle the parasite testing thing after the study on the lion diet
00:29:33.240 and keto diet is out maybe after that the next huge thing that reduced my sensitivities
00:29:37.600 surgeon mold treatment i grew up in a basement in downtown toronto in a hundred year old house
00:29:42.520 there was black mold behind the drywall from a plumber who left a cap off when my parents
00:29:46.900 renovated it honestly smelled like a sewer down there we should have known that there was mold
00:29:50.980 it is no wonder i was so mentally ill as a kid but that was when you thought you could just blow
00:29:57.300 a fan at mold and didn't know mold was toxic you could have a mold allergy but you couldn't have a
00:30:01.880 disease or mental illness caused by mold, which most people don't know now and can definitely
00:30:06.480 happen. The tricky thing with SERS and mold illness is it doesn't hit everyone in the house
00:30:11.720 necessarily or equally. So people don't attribute illnesses in these houses that are making people
00:30:18.820 sick to the environment. Anyway, after recovering on the line diet and then five years into the
00:30:23.720 diet, getting so sick from some similar symptoms to childhood, like I said, insomnia, waking up
00:30:29.320 at two or three in the morning panicking heart palpitations extreme volatility like slamming
00:30:34.460 doors even if i didn't really have anything to be mad at known as mold rage in the mold community
00:30:39.880 massive amounts of fatigue muscle pain everywhere bruising that wasn't healing leg weakness like
00:30:45.820 one side of my body felt like it was going to collapse it was not pleasant the first symptom
00:30:51.080 started in nashville oh and my eyes got really bloodshot and crusty and i always had extra mucus
00:30:59.200 like my nose was just running all the time anyway the symptoms started in Nashville in the unit that
00:31:05.820 flooded and worsened in Miami attributing all of that to SIRS was huge that was February 2023
00:31:12.420 moving out of Miami was the biggest thing I literally threw away all my stuff out of concern
00:31:18.360 and just picked up and moved we moved to Arizona and when I would say I was on the verge of
00:31:23.460 living in a tent back then I'm serious I had an Instacart filled with tent equipment and it was
00:31:28.420 April in Arizona, so totally doable. And I wanted my brain back as fast as possible. I had no
00:31:33.540 internal dialogue. I had to pause the podcast. I had to pause working for my dad briefly because
00:31:38.480 I literally couldn't figure out how to answer an email. I was having chemical sensitivities again.
00:31:43.160 I had resolved those in 2018 after the line diet, after about six months on the line diet,
00:31:47.100 and they were back. I even developed an intolerance to vodka. I was like, no, my vodka's gone.
00:31:53.560 Walking through buildings where the air wasn't perfectly clean would give me pain all over my
00:31:58.100 body it was crazy I felt like a lunatic more than I already feel normally although I feel less like
00:32:06.900 a lunatic now that I can tolerate other foods but with mold exposure I was like oh my gosh I'm
00:32:12.180 turning into one of those people with a tinfoil hat but seriously luckily Jordan husband found a
00:32:18.900 hotel that was clean enough that we didn't react in there and after a month out of that house 0.98
00:32:23.100 out of the miami house and on cholestyramine which is the one of the binders used for surs
00:32:28.640 that worked really well for me i felt probably 70 better a lot of the neuropathic pain went away
00:32:34.480 my brain came back so since then my sensitivities to mold have reduced it's it's basically been
00:32:41.280 three years so it's taken a while but and i'm still hyper careful i eat i honestly i eat outdoors
00:32:48.200 most of the time on patios we're in arizona so it doesn't matter or i'll go to new buildings
00:32:52.600 i can travel now and stay in hotels without being completely obliterated um we have an erv this is
00:33:00.500 a really big deal too sorry this is going on i'll just turn this into a podcast episode there's a
00:33:06.320 lot to catch up on on what's worked what was really good for mold illness and reducing sensitivities
00:33:12.920 was adding an erv to our hvac and we have a super v filter on top of that so an erv actually brings
00:33:20.740 in fresh air to the house compared to HVACs. That's been a game changer, just bringing fresh
00:33:27.160 air in. And this was, we moved to Arizona, we bought a new house, we upgraded the HVAC and I
00:33:32.800 still didn't feel a hundred percent. And 24 hours after adding an ERV to the HVAC, it smelled like
00:33:40.600 a mountain inside. I was like, oh, okay, this, this is a game changer. So an ERV was really
00:33:47.920 helpful. The super V filter is helpful. I'll get into that in a minute, but to summarize,
00:33:55.020 if you have an autoimmune disorder, you should try this diet as an elimination diet. If you have
00:33:59.440 a psych disorder, you should get on this diet. You should at least do a ketogenic diet, but
00:34:03.300 you might be sensitive. You might be as sensitive as I was. It helps so much. It's hard to believe,
00:34:09.560 which is why people don't believe it and why we don't have very many studies. We're starting to
00:34:14.420 at carnivore studies there are quite a few ketogenic diet studies now but it's hard to
00:34:21.000 believe so people don't believe it so we don't have evidence for it so people continue to not
00:34:26.460 believe it but soon we will have a study i find and people find they can get relief after six
00:34:32.320 weeks to six months generally speaking depending on the meds you might be on that you can think
00:34:38.080 enough to start delving into your problems without suffering as much psych meds obviously complicated
00:34:42.880 my recovery i went through two years of withdrawal after suddenly stopping which you should not do
00:34:48.500 from 2015 to 2017 that was on the paleo and keto diet that i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy that
00:34:54.620 withdrawal is horrible i'd been on ciprolex also known as lexapro on a high dose of 20 milligrams
00:34:59.900 for 10 years and through developmental years so from 12 to 22 and oof you know i can see how people
00:35:08.260 sometimes can't get off of them because it hurt and the diet really helped me get through that
00:35:13.420 so try the diet and then when you have the energy install an erv in your hvac to get fresh air in
00:35:20.360 your house there are a couple of thousand dollars but this really needs to happen there's a housing
00:35:25.640 crisis there's an air crisis in north america and it's the easiest cheapest way to get fresh air in
00:35:31.480 it's a lot easier than remediating your house it this took me about a year a year six months to
00:35:37.320 figure out after we remediated we kept remediating where we were living and then installing an erv
00:35:43.880 to the hvac just fixed the air so i wish more mold people would talk about ervs specifically
00:35:50.900 now there are there are countries where these ervs are mandated for building and health safety
00:35:56.520 and they're not mandated in america so they're mandated um in old buildings in in certain
00:36:03.600 countries in Europe they're mandated because the buildings are so old they need fresh air
00:36:07.260 and in people that are in countries that are really energy efficient they could be mandated
00:36:13.220 so I think they're mandated in Switzerland and that's just to save on energy costs it's just
00:36:18.220 by chance helps with mold the only places you can't use it really are in places that have
00:36:25.080 extremely high humidity like Florida so there you could just install to install a filter so I would
00:36:29.980 recommending install an ERV and something like a super V filter to your HVAC then you have a
00:36:34.860 contraption that sucks outdoor air a filter that filters it and filters everything that recirculates
00:36:39.660 and then you can have clean air in your home and that is so important to your health so many
00:36:45.300 biohacking people like myself really focused on diet and sleep and even and air purifiers and
00:36:54.700 things for years but getting fresh outdoor air inside made a massive difference to my health
00:36:59.900 so do that iq air filters are great too for sure ervs are better um but if you're in a place like
00:37:09.060 florida where it's too humid to get an erv iq air get super v filters on your hvac so yeah get
00:37:16.380 tested for parasites or do parasite treatment get on the diet then you're on a ketogenic diet and
00:37:21.760 you're you're giving your body an alternative source of fuel plus eliminating variables your
00:37:26.340 immune system might be reacting to plus eliminating variables your immune system might be reacting to
00:37:31.260 due to a damaged gut you're tackling gut treatment on top of that and you're improving your air
00:37:35.680 which bad air leads to gut permeability issues i also gave myself time a big big factor big factor
00:37:42.620 here in my lessened reactions to food could just be avoiding foods that caused inflammatory reactions
00:37:47.220 for so long my body forgot to keep responding to them with mast cell disorders which i most
00:37:53.880 certainly have i haven't really i haven't focused on that because well now i don't need to i would
00:37:58.920 have gotten to that eventually but you can retrain your mast cells by taking antihistamines and mast
00:38:03.980 cell stabilizers sometimes for an extended period of time some mast cells train future mast cells
00:38:09.840 to continue to respond to the same triggers it's possible in theory that i avoided triggers for so
00:38:15.360 long my mast cells literally just forgot to keep training the future mast cells on those triggers
00:38:21.240 that's a theory though no idea but I do know parasite and mold treatment helped so yeah I
00:38:26.520 think that's my recent update so autoimmunity and genetic psychiatric issues are at least for me
00:38:33.960 completely curable ha pretty satisfying after eight years pretty satisfying so now more of the
00:38:44.080 fun stuff eating plants and other foods after eight years in the last two months I have tried
00:38:49.540 arugula avocado seaweed broccoli broccolini coconut mango vinegar ginger swiss chard
00:38:59.720 bok choy berries cucumber sweet potato caviar salmon and chicken it was about
00:39:10.260 six months ago when i first tried some mango and coconut and that was because my husband
00:39:18.560 kept tempting me with ice cream what's the ice cream company fronin has good mango ice cream
00:39:30.000 anyway he's been on the meat diet with me but sometimes eats some other healthy foods now
00:39:36.340 since he's done the same treatments as me and they've worked for him too that's a big deal
00:39:40.480 so jf the husband was also exposed to mold badly as a kid got sick with me in nashville and miami
00:39:46.960 along with scarlet did the mold and parasite treatment and has been able to vary his diet more
00:39:51.260 now his symptoms weren't as severe as mine previously but he was pretty ill prior to
00:39:58.020 dietary interventions it's been long enough of me reintroducing foods that i can fairly comfortably
00:40:03.240 say the ones i've tried don't cause major problems sometimes an arthritic flare-up would take
00:40:09.880 a number of days to trigger sometimes weeks although usually days but it's been months now
00:40:16.360 no arthritis so out of the foods I mentioned I'm not really eating cucumber I don't like how that
00:40:21.720 makes me feel I think I'm allergic to avocados so I'm not doing that and I'm sticking to a
00:40:27.620 ketogenic diet because I still seem to feel my best staying in ketosis so that limits the mango
00:40:33.180 coconut and sweet potato chicken makes me groggy but fish seems fine cooked arugula seems totally
00:40:39.520 fine I am eating so much arugula it's so good nothing I've tried so far has been catastrophic
00:40:45.580 like my food tests have been in the past i'm using pure encapsulation digestive enzymes before i eat
00:40:51.660 because i haven't eaten plants in so long i figure my body could use a bit of help with enzymes but
00:40:55.840 honestly it adapted pretty quickly it wasn't this huge adaptation that i was kind of worried about
00:41:00.080 uh i got bloated the first couple times not surprising i started the enzyme after the first
00:41:08.640 few weeks the bloating went away and i'm good and that was really it that was really it so i'm not
00:41:15.480 doing cucumbers and avocado which were the two raw vegetables I was eating well avocado is
00:41:22.980 technically a fruit but only annoying people tell you that so yeah cooked vegetables is what I'm
00:41:29.520 doing cooked greens basically and meat now so now I can say my diet consists really of 95% beef
00:41:35.360 some ginger I've always loved ginger and pan fried arugula and tallow I'm back to meat and greens
00:41:39.980 which is fucking amazing forgive my french this seems super restricted but compared to just beef
00:41:45.520 it's crazy it's like the whole world has opened up I haven't been out to order anything other 0.94
00:41:50.720 than steak at restaurants unless they can do something like grilled broccolini so I'm not
00:41:55.520 risking I'm being careful I'm not being stupid naive because I don't want to trigger anything
00:42:01.620 but so far so good guys okay I know that was a lot to catch up on so that's it no longer carnivore 0.93
00:42:08.940 crazy. I will do a Q&A soon. Talk to you guys later.
