Summary

Nate Ekson-Smith says the sky hasn't fallen, the slope isn't slippery, and that MAID has been a huge success. I talk about how callous the Liberals are for expanding MAID to veterans, people with disabilities, and others that the state just doesn't want to take care of and would rather just unburden the health care system in the darkest way possible.

00:00:00.000 I think truly one of the most disgusting parts of the Liberal Party's agenda has been their wild expansion of the MAID program.
00:00:08.320 I think the MAID program from the start was always going to lead to horrible outcomes.
00:00:13.360 I think even the outcomes it set out to achieve at the very beginning were not exactly things that we should have been embracing.
00:00:20.960 But despite the fact that I think most Canadians have been disturbed by how the MAID program,
00:00:25.880 medical assistance and dying, has been offered to people like veterans, people with very minor disabilities,
00:00:31.900 and others that the state just doesn't want to take care of and would rather just unburden the health care system of in the darkest way possible,
00:00:39.020 they still are not just defending this program, but calling it very successful.
00:00:44.200 Here is a Liberal MP, Nate Erickson-Smith, who is conveniently not running in the next election because he knows the Liberals are going to lose.
00:00:52.020 He said, the sky hasn't fallen, the slope isn't slippery, and let me just quickly say, yes, the slope is slippery.
00:00:58.640 The Liberals are trying to pass legislation to, they keep walking it back a little bit because they're nervous about putting this forward
00:01:05.220 because they know a lot of Canadians won't go along with it, but they keep proposing expansions to MAID
00:01:10.040 that would allow people with mental illnesses like depression to be able to access the program.
00:01:15.320 Completely nutty, and that is the definition of a slippery slope that we are on.
00:01:19.940 Anyways, getting back to it, he says, medical assistance in dying has been an overwhelming success in Canada.
00:01:25.940 It has enhanced freedom, reduced suffering, and provided a dignified death to thousands of people in need.
00:01:31.680 Read more here, and I'm going to get to someone who responds to both him and the article itself,
00:01:36.880 who will detail out some of the issues, but imagine how callous that line is.
00:01:41.480 It has enhanced freedom.
00:01:42.900 Yes, being able to kill yourself is a true enhancement to freedom, especially when the state just doesn't want to care for you,
00:01:50.480 so they offer you medical assistance in dying so that they can just free up their weekends.
00:01:55.520 Just truly disgusting.
00:01:56.740 This is not an enhancement to freedom.
00:01:58.540 It's an anti-life policy that sees Canadians with any sort of disabilities or long-term medical issues
00:02:06.900 issues as being somehow burdensome and that they should consider ending their suffering and just giving in to the MAID program.
00:02:14.340 I know that there are some people out there who truly are suffering with a terminal illness.
00:02:19.020 They're not going to live more than a week or something like that, and maybe MAID makes sense for them.
00:02:22.540 But even in those cases, it's still a tragic decision, yet the liberals talk about it like it's a fantastic storybook ending to someone's life,
00:02:30.540 when it really isn't, it's a very clinical, bureaucratic way of sort of not treating life with dignity, at least in my opinion.
00:02:38.080 I 100% would want to get rid of this program.
00:02:40.940 I want to get to someone who had the perfect response to this, but right before I do that,
00:02:45.180 I, Wyatt Claypool, just want to quickly plug that I am running for the Calgary Signal Hill Conservative Party nomination.
00:02:50.960 If you live in these riding boundaries, they're changing in April.
00:02:53.620 That's why Bowness and Greenbrier are no longer part of it.
00:02:56.440 If you live in this general area of Calgary, check to see if you live in the riding.
00:03:00.080 If you do, go and buy a Conservative Party membership.
00:03:03.200 My website is in the description of this video below, WyattClaypool.com.
00:03:06.860 Click on that, and there's a lot of get a membership buttons that lead you to the Conservatives website.
00:03:11.440 Anyways, I want to talk, I want to bring up this response from Alyssa Globo,
00:03:16.540 who is one of the co-runners and founders of the RightNow Pro-Life organization.
00:03:21.240 I thought this was the perfect response to Nate.
00:03:23.540 Couldn't have said it better myself, so I just wanted to highlight what she said here.
00:03:27.220 Also, I do have a link to the RightNow website sign-up list if you want to be able to get on their list.
00:03:34.000 They're pushing back not only against the radical abortion non-laws that we have in this country,
00:03:39.580 but also the expansion of MAID.
00:03:42.560 They're trying to make sure that we roll it back and prevent things like mental illness from being something that allows people to end their lives.
00:03:48.600 Anyway, so there's Alyssa Globo's response.
00:03:51.580 She said,
00:03:52.160 Erickson Smith believes that if we look at the numbers, we won't care as much because the majority are elderly and are going to die anyways.
00:03:58.760 It's more callous than convincing.
00:04:00.900 Oh, and only a dozen or so young people have died from assisted suicide whose death wasn't reasonably foreseeable.
00:04:06.620 No biggie.
00:04:07.220 Christine Gothier, a veteran and former Paralympian, had been fighting for a home wheelchair ramp for five years.
00:04:14.020 Instead, the Veterans Affairs Office offered her assisted suicide and said they would provide the equipment.
00:04:19.400 Alan Nichols, who had a history of depression, was eustodized after listing only one health condition for his request to die, hearing loss.
00:04:29.240 Roger Follier, who had a degenerative brain disorder and was hospitalized in London, Ontario,
00:04:34.920 was so alarmed by hospital staff regularly mentioning assisted suicide that he began to secretly record their conversations.
00:04:41.340 In one recording, the hospital director of ethics told Follier that for him to remain in hospital, it would cost $1,500 a day.
00:04:48.640 Candace Lewis, a 25-year-old woman with cerebral palsy and a spinal bifidia, was taken to the hospital.
00:04:55.100 And during her stay, a doctor told her mother that if she did not pursue assisted suicide, it would be selfish.
00:05:00.960 And the list goes on.
00:05:02.400 Canada is the only country that allows nurse practitioners, not just doctors, to end patients' lives.
00:05:07.400 Physicians and nurses are told to inform patients if they might qualify to be killed as one of their clinical care options.
00:05:14.640 Canadian patients are not required to have exhaustive all-treatment alternatives before seeking assisted suicide.
00:05:21.000 So yes, Nathan, the sky is falling.
00:05:22.940 Your government has recklessly created one of the most permissive euthanasia regimes in the world that prays, guilts, and coerces extremely vulnerable people.
00:05:31.880 The fact that your government keeps delaying any further expansion shows you know that Canadians do not stand with you.
00:05:38.820 And if you continue to expand before the next election, you will lose worse than you've already projected to lose.
00:05:45.820 I think that is a great response to this by Alyssa Global.
00:05:50.360 I will also link her tweet in the description of the video below.
00:05:54.120 Go give your retweet and a like.
00:05:55.800 Sign up with the right now's email list.
00:05:57.960 I think it's good to have people aware of who the nomination candidates are in their writings for the conservatives who are anti-made.
00:06:04.440 Even maybe if there's an anti-made liberal in some areas, if it's a super liberal writing, you can vote for them.
00:06:09.300 But we really need to, I think this needs to be an issue brought to the forefront.
00:06:13.980 The carbon tax is bad, 100%.
00:06:15.740 If I was in Parliament, first thing I'd do is eliminate it.
00:06:18.500 A lot of other policies are bad.
00:06:19.800 The Liberal Party's corruption is bad.
00:06:21.600 But I think what's worse than anything else is the Liberals' deliberate reducing of the value of human life.
00:06:28.120 The idea that human life is worth nothing more than dollars, and that if it takes a burden off the healthcare industry,
00:06:34.660 well, it's worth a hospital director insulting a mother by saying that their daughter or son should maybe not be allowed to live because it's selfish and it costs them a lot of money,
00:06:43.460 and maybe they don't get to go on as many vacations if there are people who are sick and need assistance, or people who have disabilities and need assistance.
00:06:51.580 It's absolutely horrific.
00:06:53.120 This is where I have no patience for one level of Liberals say, well, conservatives aren't compassionate like us.
00:06:58.920 We're the party of compassion.
00:07:00.960 We stand up for the dignity of life because we let people encamp on the streets and die through, you know, massive, like, drug overdoses because we just give them free drugs.
00:07:10.540 No, the Liberals and the NDP and the other lefties are not compassionate at all.
00:07:14.900 Just look at the fact that they are okay with a mass euthanasia program that is now taking over 4% of Canadians' lives every single year.
00:07:23.000 Every single year, 4% of the Vos who die, die because of MAID.
00:07:27.620 Very, very many of them did not need it, and it was not because they were in severe suffering.
00:07:32.640 It's because they were basically pressured into doing it or because they had mitigating mental health issues.
00:07:39.560 Well, anyways, that's it for me today.
00:07:41.340 If you guys want to donate to the Give, Send, Go campaign that I and the National Telegraph are running, that'd be very nice.
00:07:46.780 We're $25,000 deep into fighting back against a ridiculous billionaire's defamation suit against us.
00:07:52.220 He has no evidence we've said anything wrong.
00:07:53.880 All the evidence points to our reporting being absolutely right, and we weren't even the first to report the issues with him.
00:08:00.600 But, you know, he thinks he can bully us into apologizing to him so he can pretend every bad thing ever said about him is just false and defamatory.
00:08:08.860 Anyways, also, again, I'm running for the Calgary Signal Hill Conservative Party nomination.
00:08:13.840 Wyatt Claypool, if you buy a membership and you live in that area, vote for me number one on your ballot.
00:08:17.860 The nomination date will probably be set sometime after April when these new riding boundaries come into effect.
00:08:24.700 You know, Alberta's getting three new ridings, which is great, but that also means we have this complexity of having to redistribute the geography so that there's enough room for the three extra areas that can't exactly be put in Fantasyland, so all the ridings have to change.
00:08:38.820 Anyways, that should be it for me today, and I'll be back with another video later on.
