PM Carney blows it. His statement in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's attempt to capture the communist dictator of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, was embarrassingly bad. And it reveals a lot of weaknesses about Carney as a politician, as well as the Liberal Party.
00:00:00.000Well, guys, I know I'm not going to shock any of you by saying this, but Prime Minister Mark Carney blew it.
00:00:08.100His statement in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's operation to capture the communist dictator of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, was embarrassingly bad.
00:00:19.060And it reveals a lot of weaknesses about Carney as a politician, as well as the Liberal Party itself.
00:00:26.120Here's the problem for the Liberal Party right now.
00:00:28.940They are a party that is held together by chewing gum and masking tape in terms of its coalition.
00:00:36.400Half of the Liberal coalition are Trump derangement syndrome liberals, and the other half are business liberals who, if Trump does something right, maybe they don't like the guy, but they don't want to see him condemned.
00:00:49.020And so Mark Carney put out a statement on the subject that said absolutely nothing.
00:00:57.620I made a video earlier in the day about the Canadian reaction to the situation, and at that time, the Prime Minister had not yet released his own statement.
00:01:07.940Anita Anand, our foreign affairs minister, put out something, and it kind of telegraphed what Carney's was going to look like.
00:01:13.840But after that statement was met with such poor reception, you'd think that Carney would have reworked what he was going to release later and come down more firmly on one side or the other?
00:01:26.060He released this absolute pablum that says nothing because he knows half of his base will skewer him if he attacks Trump, and half of his base will skewer him if he doesn't attack Trump.
00:01:37.760And I think that he has come down on option number three, which means both sides are going to think he's a complete idiot.
00:01:44.700Now, there are always going to be some ride-or-die liberals.
00:01:47.580I guess we can say, really, the Liberal Party is broken up into thirds.
00:01:55.000And then there are the business liberals.
00:01:56.580So Carney chose to only please the ride-or-dies, who are going to be pleased with anything he does, and he has alienated the other two-thirds of the party.
00:02:06.600I want to take you guys through this statement, and then we had to read something from Rachel Gilmore because it's hilarious.
00:02:11.920But before I get into it, I just want to remind you guys, if you like the show, think about joining the membership for the channel.
00:02:18.380If you hit the join button below the video, you can join one or two tiers, or one of two tiers.
00:02:23.060It just helps make the channel more sustainable for me and makes me less reliant on the YouTube algorithm for views and income and all that stuff.
00:02:31.500So let's read this statement from our Prime Minister, Marcus Jeremy Carney.
00:02:37.840I actually don't know what his middle name is.
00:02:45.360Let's read through this statement because you'll get what I mean very quickly when I say that this statement says absolutely nothing and it's going to please nobody.
00:02:53.060Like, at least be the NDP attacking Trump, or at least be the conservatives who are giving Trump the due credit that he deserves.
00:03:04.740One of the first actions taken by Canada's new government in March 2025 was to impose additional sanctions on Nicolas Maduro's brutally oppressive and criminal regime, unequivocally condemning his grave breaches of international peace and security, gross and systematic human rights violations, and corruption.
00:03:25.020Canada has not recognized the illegitimate regime of Maduro since it stole the 2018 election.
00:03:31.700The Canadian government, therefore, welcomes the opportunity for freedom, democracy, peace, and prosperity for the Venezuelan people.
00:03:39.900Canada has long supported a peaceful, negotiated, and Venezuelan-led transition process that respects the democratic will of the Venezuelan people.
00:03:48.880In keeping with our long-standing commitment to upholding the rule of law, sovereignty, and human rights, Canada calls on all parties to respect international law.
00:03:58.580We stand by the Venezuelan people's sovereign right to decide and build their own future in a peaceful, democratic society.
00:04:04.820Canada attaches great importance to resolution of crises through multilateral engagement and is in close contact with international partners about ongoing developments.
00:04:17.300We are first and foremost ready to assist Canadians through our consular officials and our embassy in Bodega, Colombia, and will continue to support Venezuelan refugees.
00:04:40.500Canada has long supported a peaceful, negotiated, and Venezuelan-led transition process that respects the democratic will of the Venezuelan people.
00:04:48.380This is like whenever you see liberals, when it comes to an issue having to do with Israel, just says,
00:04:54.240oh, we believe in a two-state solution.
00:14:21.620either they're delusional or they're being knowingly obtuse simply to attack pure poly of Donald Trump and defend a communist dictator because many of these people are in fact communists.
00:15:05.340he is an anti-semitic communist pro-terror,
00:15:10.520pro-drug decriminalization nutcase who snuck his way on to the Vancouver city council because he won where he does like the top two candidates won in a by-election in Vancouver.
