00:00:00.000 Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here.
00:00:02.840 A repeating story that we've heard with this liberal government over the past 10 years
00:00:07.500 is that they plan on doing something, but it never actually happens.
00:00:12.760 This is the case with housing, and it's also the case with border security.
00:00:17.520 So ever since Donald Trump threatened to put tariffs on Canada
00:00:20.760 if we didn't actually tighten up security on the border,
00:00:24.740 Canada has released plans to do something about it.
00:00:27.940 And then we didn't actually do it.
00:00:30.460 Not only is this a national security threat to Canada to not have our border properly secured,
00:00:36.400 but it's also going to have a lot of implications on whether or not we can sign a trade deal with the United States
00:00:42.440 because whether we are just trying to sign a trade deal to get the tariffs to go away
00:00:46.440 on non-USMCA compliant goods, or we are renegotiating USMCA entirely,
00:00:53.000 this is going to be constantly brought up in negotiations
00:00:56.240 that while we said we were going to secure the border, we have literally not done anything to do it.
00:01:02.120 And then you will have people in the United States, like FBI Director Kash Patel,
00:01:07.700 saying that Canada has become a new terror threat to the United States,
00:01:12.640 which doesn't look very good at the same time that we are dragging our feet
00:01:16.500 to even put one extra officer on the border.
00:01:20.020 Here is FBI Director Kash Patel talking about this.
00:01:22.920 It's our northern border. It's largely expansive.
00:01:25.420 The enemy has adapted.
00:01:26.800 And we need more focus on the northern border to stop known or suspected terrorists
00:01:31.040 from coming in from places like China, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, Afghanistan.
00:01:35.840 And what can you tell us about the remaining threat posed by potential terrorist cells here in the United States?
00:01:40.620 The terrorist threat that continues to be posed by international terrorists here in the United States
00:01:46.580 is one of my highest priorities.
00:01:48.580 We are working through our intelligence community partners to identify those individuals,
00:01:52.460 and we've taken down numerous individuals and numerous rings across this country
00:01:56.560 to neutralize that terrorist threat.
00:01:59.040 He moves on from Canada there.
00:02:01.660 And I looked up all the numbers on terrorist apprehensions on the border
00:02:07.160 between the southern border of the United States with Mexico and the northern border with Canada.
00:02:12.360 Now, naturally, in terms of just general security threat,
00:02:16.020 obviously the U.S. has a bigger threat coming from Mexico 1.00
00:02:19.460 because of cartels, illegal immigrants.
00:02:22.460 You get a lot of stuff, drugs.
00:02:24.040 All that stuff is coming over the border.
00:02:25.840 There's a lot of human trafficking that goes on,
00:02:28.120 whereas that's not really the case with the northern border with Canada.
00:02:32.360 But the problem in Canada is that we are so lax when it comes to people
00:02:36.600 who are obviously terrorists, whether they're Calistani terrorists,
00:02:40.700 Tamil Tigers, they're ISIS, Hamas, Hezbollah. 0.90
00:02:44.700 The thing is that we don't crack down pretty much on anyone
00:02:47.940 currently operating on our side of the border,
00:02:50.580 which means that we basically just hope that the American border security finds them
00:02:54.800 if they attempt to even go through a legal port of entry from Canada to the U.S.
00:02:59.920 And then you have to also consider the fact that along the undefended parts of the border,
00:03:03.940 you know, if you think that you're going to get caught if you go through a legal port of entry,
00:03:08.040 just walk through the rural Manitoba over the border into the Dakotas
00:03:12.160 and who's going to find you?
00:03:14.280 That's the current problem that we have on the border
00:03:17.340 is that there's no real reason to get caught as a terrorist
00:03:21.240 coming from Canada to the United States.
00:03:23.880 It's just too easy to get over the border.
00:03:26.120 The Canadian government does so little when it comes to security
00:03:29.700 that even if you go through a legal port of entry, we don't track terrorists,
00:03:33.240 we don't collect data on them.
00:03:34.480 So we just hope that the Americans won't be surprised 1.00
00:03:37.040 when a guy tries to go through who has a Canadian passport
00:03:40.360 and seems like a Canadian citizen,
00:03:42.220 but they know potentially him as a terrorist from Afghanistan
00:03:45.680 who they had maybe even previously rejected coming into their country
00:03:49.340 as a new green card holder or permanent resident.
00:03:53.280 But now I want to jump over to something that has happened in our own parliament,
00:03:57.060 and that is the Liberals being called out by a Conservative MP,
00:04:02.040 Jacob Bantle, on the issue that they actually haven't hired
00:04:05.680 a single new border security agent
00:04:08.260 since they've been promising to get tough on the border.
00:04:11.300 The Prime Minister was in Mexico this week,
00:04:13.560 and when Mexico decided to get serious about its border,
00:04:16.280 it deployed 10,000 new personnel in a matter of days.
00:04:21.080 At the same time, the Prime Minister promised Canadians
00:04:23.980 that he would hire 1,000 new border officers.
00:04:27.060 So a very simple question to the Minister of Public Safety.
00:04:29.860 How many officers have been hired and are deployed today?
00:04:34.100 The Honorable Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety.
00:04:38.340 They're never actually going to let the Minister of Public Safety answer a question.
00:04:41.720 Gary Amasangari doesn't exactly also have a good reputation on terrorism
00:04:45.680 since his name was on a list of contacts within the Tamil Tigers in Ontario.
00:04:52.060 The Tamil Tigers being a Sri Lankan terrorist organization.
00:04:56.360 So yeah, let's let the Parliamentary Secretary handle this one.
00:04:59.860 Mr. Speaker, we are hiring 1,000 new officers for CBSA and new RCMP officers.
00:05:13.320 We are going to see a drastic decrease in illegal firearms and fentanyl exports,
00:05:20.360 and we will soon have all the necessary personnel to complete this work.
00:05:26.740 So they didn't do it.
00:05:28.280 You can't just recommit the same promise and act like that's an answer to failing
00:05:31.860 to actually, you know, fulfill the promise.
00:05:34.440 Mr. Speaker, in all that, I didn't hear a number.
00:05:38.900 But let me give him the number, because the information disclosed to this House
00:05:42.560 by the Canada Border Services Agency says that the Liberals have hired zero new officers.
00:05:48.640 And it gets worse. It's worse.
00:05:50.820 Not only have they not hired any officers, they don't even have a plan to hire any officers.
00:05:56.320 So my question again is, when will they hire the border officers?
00:06:00.360 The Honorable Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety.
00:06:03.240 Mr. Speaker, not only are we hiring more than 1,000 officers.
00:06:10.200 When? You can say you're going to do it.
00:06:13.140 But like goodness, you actually have to have a date.
00:06:15.580 If anything, if they actually came out of this, I'd say, okay, we're going to start hiring in two months.
00:06:19.860 It's like, okay, at least there's a date you can hold them to.
00:06:22.340 At least there may be now under pressure to actually do it.
00:06:24.880 But when you never actually commit to anything, when you never act,
00:06:28.480 there's never actually a date that you have to fulfill something by.
00:06:31.520 You don't even have to make an excuse for why you're late.
00:06:35.180 You never technically promised to do it any time specific.
00:06:38.100 We're also adding helicopters, drone, and other equipment.
00:06:42.760 We're taking action and making more arrests and finding more drugs.
00:06:50.280 So it is working, Mr. Speaker.
00:06:52.620 And in two weeks, we will see.
00:06:57.320 The translation is really undermining just how much he's like freaking out here.
00:07:01.540 He looks like he's supposed to be like a mad scientist.
00:07:04.440 But he somehow ended up as a parliamentary secretary to a terrorist public safety minister.
00:07:10.180 Yeah, graduation of new officers that will be helping out CBSA.
00:07:15.120 And notice also that there's no drones.
00:07:17.740 We haven't bought any drones yet.
00:07:20.140 So even his counterproposal that, yeah, yeah, we may have not gotten any new officers yet,
00:07:27.000 but we're going to have drones. 0.65
00:07:28.120 I'm like, we're going to have?
00:07:29.480 You mean we don't have it?
00:07:30.720 Like, this liberal government will pat themselves on the back for anything, including nothing.
00:07:37.760 Like, right there, they haven't done anything, and they are patting themselves on the back.
00:07:41.920 I have the same capacity right now to announce stuff like this guy did.
00:07:47.640 Guys, we're not only going to have 1,000 new CBSA officers.
00:07:52.540 We're also going to have them all riding in tanks.
00:07:55.840 We're going to refurbish World War II tanks, and each guy's going to get one.
00:08:00.780 And I know this because we're doing it.
00:08:03.440 When?
00:08:03.980 I don't know, but we're going to do it.
00:08:07.200 But I just want to highlight something else that happened yesterday, because this was quite funny.
00:08:14.720 Shout out to Ryan Gerritsen on X for finding this one out.
00:08:19.140 I'm just using the reporting of it by Brian Pasfume.
00:08:22.320 So, the liberals are literally so fake with everything they do.
00:08:27.840 When they did a housing announcement, they couldn't, at least in their local area,
00:08:33.740 they couldn't actually find a new housing development.
00:08:38.020 And so, they had to fake one.
00:08:41.280 Brian Pasfume here says,
00:08:42.860 As per my convo this morning with Ben Mulroney and Greg Brady radio show,
00:08:50.960 I took the news cycle to the site of the PM's house announcement last week.
00:08:56.820 The construction was all just a backdrop.
00:08:59.800 Today, there's just an excavator and a bulldozer during the site.
00:09:03.640 And they verified this.
00:09:05.500 This is the exact same site.
00:09:07.340 They showed that it was from however they were able to do this.
00:09:10.680 This is literally not a real site.
00:09:14.800 They put this up so that Mark Carney could stand in front of anything looking like it was being built
00:09:20.340 while he was announcing his Build Canada Strong initiative.
00:09:24.900 As people have pointed out,
00:09:26.620 no house would install actual glass windows before you would even put the roof in.
00:09:33.480 And again, this thing doesn't actually exist.
00:09:36.420 This is Brian Pasfume.
00:09:40.340 This is the photo from the next day of the exact same site.
00:09:45.400 This is what it had looked like,
00:09:47.080 but they had just dressed it up the previous day for the actual announcement.
00:09:52.500 Again, this is not the same site.
00:09:54.160 This is a bit of an off-center photo.
00:09:55.800 You can see the power lines in a slightly different position.
00:09:58.320 But this is not an actual thing.
00:10:00.220 Because they're bad at stuff.
00:10:03.820 That's really the only takeaway here.
00:10:05.780 They're not very good at things.
00:10:07.620 And so they couldn't actually have any big building going on
00:10:11.140 because there isn't a lot of building going on in Canada
00:10:14.060 compared to what we've been having over the last few years.
00:10:17.080 In fact, new housing starts have been going down,
00:10:20.900 I believe now for the fourth or fifth year in a row,
00:10:24.160 despite all the initiatives.
00:10:25.280 We had the new housing, the START program,
00:10:28.280 what was it, the housing accelerator that Justin Trudeau had brought out.
00:10:31.980 And now Mark Carney has his new modular home program,
00:10:36.000 which is, you know, oddly enough,
00:10:37.720 something that Brookfield Asset Management's invested in.
00:10:40.300 But whatever, what's a little bit of government corruption between friends?
00:10:43.960 And then also, like, when you actually look at the modular housing
00:10:47.520 that, like, Tim Houston had been rolling out,
00:10:49.920 I'm like, oh my goodness, I hope that's not what Mark Carney's talking about.
00:10:53.460 It looks like you're going to have to live in a carnival concession stand.
00:10:57.060 But yeah, it's, these guys can't get anything done.
00:11:02.640 Even with the gun ban, I don't even support the gun ban. 1.00
00:11:05.760 It's stupid. 0.99
00:11:06.660 But I believe they've spent, like, $500 million, if not a billion so far, 1.00
00:11:11.740 sitting around in a newly created bureaucracy
00:11:15.260 talking about how they're going to ban guns.
00:11:17.860 I hope they don't ban a single one and they don't actually do any buyback.
00:11:21.360 They don't actually confiscate a single gun.
00:11:23.960 But, my goodness, I thought these guys were supposed to at least try to do it.
00:11:28.700 You know, these guys aren't even, like, good at being threatening.
00:11:31.920 You know, we, I feel like we're never actually going to hit that 1984 moment in Canada
00:11:37.460 because the government will just forget to do it.
00:11:39.960 Like, we live in just, like, an incompetent, semi-authoritarian government.
00:11:45.540 You know, we're not quite there yet, but that's kind of what we're moving to.
00:11:49.180 An incompetent authoritarian government.
00:11:51.600 We're never going to quite, again, get to, like, the professionalized authoritarianism
00:11:55.620 of the book 1984 or other sort of dystopian futures
00:11:59.040 because Mark Carney would just forget to do it.
00:12:01.460 You know, it sucks to live in Canada,
00:12:03.340 and he'd make everything very unrestrictive and not very free.
00:12:07.180 But you never really get to the jackboots point.
00:12:09.560 Someone would forget to put them on.
00:12:10.900 You know, we live in very much a sneakers authoritarian government.
00:12:15.880 Like, sweatpants, sneakers, and, like, a stained wife beater.
00:12:20.120 That's kind of what Canada feels like.
00:12:22.620 But anyways, that should be it for me today, guys.
00:12:25.500 Thank you for watching.
00:12:26.580 Make sure to like, share, and subscribe.
00:12:29.080 And I will see you guys later, or later next time.
00:12:32.240 I'll see you guys later and next time.
